Amor Bravío #55 (Uni 50) Wed 10/31/12 "It is what it is"

We begin our capitulo with Daddy Diaz showing up at Isavibora’s hotel room.  She is clearly not surprised to see him, as she says “Vaya, vaya”, which I have come to understand is the same as “Well! Well!”  He predictably wants to know what i$ in it for me?  Isa snaps and tells him to clear the dollar $igns out of his eyeballs, that she has already checked him out and she knows he is broke (beggars can’t be choosers).  She tell$ him she will decide what he get$.  She fills him in the Dan Jr has inherited a big ranch but cannot come to claim it yet, because he is a fugitive of the law in Chile.  “Que chamaco!” he claims, “Where did he inherit it from?”.  “From your ex-wife’s lover”, reveals Isavibora.  Thrilled with the karmic justice of it all, Senor Diaz replies “He takes my woman, and I take his money.”.

Way north  in Las Vegas, Agustina, post- “Grim Tail of Riding Hood” (shame on me x 2), she frets about her quickie marriage to Dio.   She wonders how she will tell the girls and where the couple will live.  She is worried about Camila’s recovery and is reluctant to abandon her at this time.  Dio pronounces, that at great personal sacrifice (wink, wink), he will agree to live at El Rancho Malquerida with Agustina so she can be close to his secret fantasy girl….oh, sorry, Camila and Xinmoral.

Back at the ranch, Camila and her divorce lawyer review her final divorce document.  She signs it and she and the attorney  cross their collective fingers and toes that AlLocoLonso is having a good day or cannot read and will sign it without hesitation.

At the town jail, Lic. Becerra and Dandres arrive to find out that Leo Sordido is to be released for lack of evidence.  No puedes ser!  Lic B. tells Dandres that the Dio sponsored a lawyer got him released.  As the two look fully devastated at the ramifications of this news, Leo Sordido slimes into the jail waiting room.  He taunts Dandres by telling him it is good others don’t think he is guilty like Dandres does.  Dandres retorts that Leo Sordido will not be out for long: he has committed other crimes that will come back and bite him in his sorry behind.  Lic and Dandres realize there is nothing that they can do for now.

Back at El Rancho, Luzma decides to meet Bratgirl (despite all of viewerville and Irena and Tolentino yelling “don’t do it”).  Bratgirl tells Luzma how impressed she is by Luzma going to the authorities about Leo Sordido’s assault on her.  She is disingenuous (gag)  but convinces Luzma of her itty bitty heartfelt sympathy.  She informs her that Pablo still loves her and wants to protect her.  In fact, he had a fight with Moms and Pops Albarran about his decision: predictably Pops threatened to disinherit him.  If Pablo loses their support, this will keep him from realizing his dream to study abroad, she continues.  She reminds Luzma that Pablo’s parents are prejudiced (snobs) and that Luzma is merely the cook’s daughter (que horror!).  Bratgirls leads Luzma to the punchline, “do you really want to cause him to lose his chance for a good life?  Over time, Pablo will resent you as he is used to the good life.”  Of course, Luzma,  further confused, starts her guilt neurons firing.   Ah Bratgirl, what a charmer.

Back at the jail, the public official, tells Lic B that Leo Sordido doesn’t have just any attorney, but a special one, a costly one.  Dandres wonders where he got the funds and public official tells him that someone else is paying – in fact, Alonso.  No puede ser!  Dandres and Lic B fret about other ways to charge him of crimes and they are reminded  1.) they need to wait for fully developed DNA evidence in Luzma’s pregnancy and 2.) they must have proof of the other crimes they may know about for a separate charge in order to throw him back in jail.  Too bad his cellmate didn’t take care of him when he had the opportunity.
Over in the streets of the pueblo, Al receives $ from someone to buy Xinmoral’s car and walks into the bank and sees Mauricio.  Al sarcastically asks Mauricio if he is at the bank taking advantage of El Rancho Malquerida and Camila.  Puleeez.

At the ranch, Camila confronts Xinmoral about where she was the previous night and X. snaps back saying she is not a child who must report to Camila.   Camila, being parental, replies that she is concerned because she wants to be sure that X is safe, or to be able to reach her in an emergency (Viewerville, on the other hand, does not care too about the former) .   X responds with X logic, that Camila needn’t worry because she doesn’t even have a  cell phone any longer.  X continues to report that she went to dinner in town the previous night and lo and behold! had her car stolen.  She and some friends went to the police station to report the theft.  Camila points out that this is exactly the reason that X needs to let her know where she is and, by the way, wonders why X did not call the ranch?  X  brushes off Camila’s concern but further reports that, by the way, she has no car insurance.  Camila (again being parental here) asks her how she can spend money buying clothes and bags and shoes, but not car insurance?  Xinmoral creates an imaginar truth that her clothes are all promotional items, freebies, you know? Besides, she adds, I don’t have money like you do, sniff, sniff.  The exchange goes on and is tedious on the part of both of them frankly.  Thankfully it ends when X flounces off to take a bath.  After all, fraud is a dirty business.

Across the fields, at El Rancho Albarran, Rocio and Bratgirl have tea, mutually admire each other and congratulate themselves on the well-executed plan to further confuse and demoralize Luzma and drive a wedge between her and Pablo.  Bien hecho ladies!  Wait until Rocio gets Bratgirl’s bill for service.
Elsewhere in the ranching business office,  Yago wanders into the office to invite Natalia to go out with him.  Nat worries that Mariano might  need her for some (God forbid) real work and before going on a real date, Nat always asks her mom.  Yago needles her about being  immature and needing to ask for permission to go out and do things.  He succeeds in convincing Nat to bypass permisos so no one will see them together and gossip.

Across (back) at the cabana, Camila and Dandres are dejected and talking about Leo Sordido’s release.  Dandres feels he has failed Luzma with the promise to keep her safe.  Camila points out that it is the law that has failed (NOTE to UNIVISION :  this weeks missed campaign ad opportunity here).  She offers to inform Piedad of this dismal news.

In town at Dio’s place, Leo grunts his approval of his new surroundings and proceeds to act like the cochino that he is. He picks up entire bottles and swills the contents.  We think that even Dio’s henchman wonders what happened to standards among thieves.  Henchman #2 calls Dio to tell him that his new house guest Leo Sordido has arrived and that the investigation of Mariano has turned up zip, nada.  Mariano has kept his nose very very clean.

When Dio gets the call while in Vegas, Agustina asks who it is.  Dio’s true nature bulges from his already ample midsection and he uses it to put her in her “proper place”.  Dio tells her that now that she is his wife, she does not need to ask questions or she will become a metiche.   “Quiet will be more valued”, he says and then adds “I am the man of the house and you must respect me.” Agustina is left deflated, poor thing.  Viewerville would boo Dio loudly, but realizes this would be an endless activity.

Back in Camila’s office, she and Dandres get the difficult task of telling Luzma that Leo Sordido is free because they need the final definitive proof that she is pregnant because of him.  She is clearly shaken despite all attempts to assure her that she will be protected.  Camila adds her recommendation that Luzma seek psychological help in order to cope with all that is happening to her.  Luzma leaves while still shaken and Camila tells Dandres to let her go.

Over at Viv’s apartment, lovelorn Rafa arrives.  He reports that he is finally understanding that he needs to get Camila out of his heart sooner rather than later: she is clearly smitten with Dandres.  Viv sympathetically tells him that Camila is not for him, that she told him this before.   Not completely resigned to being lovelorn, he says he does need Dandres to tell Camila the truth.  Dandres has all the cards in his hand and Camila deserves the truth (Pick me! Pick me! little Rafa cheers).  Phone call interrupts, it is Aaron.
Back with Luzma in her room, she cries to the Virgencita about her fear.  Piedad comes in and Luzma gives her the news that Leo Sordido is free.  Que?.  Piedad is shocked.

Across the patio at Camila’s rancher and pet doctor office, Mariano arrives. He comments on the brooding look on her face.  She reports the news that Leo Sordido is free and warns him to have Pablo be very careful because Leo Sordido is dangerous.  Mariano apologizes for adding to this train wreck of a day for Camila.  He says he has news that he cannot keep from her.  He borrows Camila’s computer to show her that it was Xinmoral at the bank cashing the forged check.  Camila is pensive.

Flash back to Luzma’s bedroom.  Piedad swears that Leo Sordido will never hurt Luzma.  In fact, Piedad is going north to look for her in-laws to further investigate what happened to Fidencio (the groom that left Piedad plantada at the altar).  She is now suspicious that Leo Sordido had something to do with it and this could be the crime that puts him back in jail.  Yayyyyyy!

Flash (again) back to Viv’s apartment and Rafa asks Viv if she is interested in Aaron.  Viv admits he is nice and Rafa cautions her that he is not interested in women. Viv, surprised asks if he is gay (yup, you read it right, she did).  Rafa explains, that no, he is just more involved with his community work than in establishing a relationship (Viewerville is a little alarmed that Aaron could be breaking TN law by doing this).  Nevertheless, Viv says she is grateful that Aaron has helped her believe in herself and Rafa adds that Bruno’s loss is another man’s gain.

Finishing up their business at the office, Camila tells Mariano she is ashamed.  Mariano assures her she has nothing to be ashamed of, that it is her sister who stole the money.  Camila reminds him that she accused AlLocoLonso of stealing the money.  They talk about how deception hurts, Camila pops a pain pill (perhaps taking this truism literally), and they wonder about the 3 million peso tractor that has yet to arrive.  Mariano offers to loan her the Albarran ranch tractor in the meantime.  Big surprise.

Luzma, having processed Bratgirl’s  sparkling words of encouragement is back in the woods somewhere with Pablo.  She tells him that she is confused and doesn’t know what to do with her life.  He reassures her that they are a couple, in the good and in the bad times.  Luzma tells him that everyone is pressuring her and that he needs to return to his own life because she has nothing to offer him.  She wisely says that she will never return to who she was, ever (This is deep, pay attention Pablo.)!  In summary, she blows Pablo off, again.

In the kitchen, Piedad tells Juanita that Leo is free and they worry together about him returning.  Piedad swears that if he comes to do them harm, she will kill them with her own hands.

At Al’s place, the divorce lawyer brings him the papers from Camila to sign.  The lawyer advises him to sign as this is a very generous offer.  It turns out that , yes, Al can read.  He has come upon the part in the paper where it reads that grounds for the divorce is that, he, Al, is impotent.  He swears he is not, that this was Camila’s fault and that he will never sign.  Al is the only one in all of the TN town that remains in denial that this is a fair grounds for divorce.  The attorney is really earning his hourly fee today.

As Luzma leaves the forest,  Dandres catches up to her and asks her why she dumped Pablo. She asks him if he was spying on her and insisits that he stay out of her life.  She has to do what she has to do.
Pablo returns home and tells Yago that Luzma blew him off, again.  Yago, also full of sparkling words of encouragement tells him this may be for the best. He tells Pablo he is young and has his whole life in front of him.

As reported earlier, it has been a long train wreck of a day and Camila is in her office with: a sore leg, a louse of a soon-to be-ex, a thief of a sister, a rapist on the loose with a missing gun and these are just the things she knows about.  Dandres returns and she fills him in on the forged check.  She wants to tell her mom so that they can consider booting Xinmoral from the ranch and that she is tired of people taking advantage of her.  Gulp!  Dandres admits to Camila that her mother went to Vegas with Dio.  Cara impactada and one more thing to the list for the day.

Avances:  Friends and lurkers, please feel free to fill these in.

Where has Cami's dog gone? I wonder if she liked Dandres? I miss that huge, lovable dog! I am guessing it is a Great Pyrenees, rather than a Newfoundland dog.

Mena- Looking forward to what you write later. I’ll get us started…

Ay! Lots of set up for bad things to follow from the events of last night. Leon is set free which gets everyone in a tizzy; Dio is going to move into the ranch (!); Javier Diaz forms a biz alliance with Isa; Bratgirl is playing mind games with Luzma; and Luzma breaks poor Pablo’s heart.

The good stuff: Rafa seems to finally accept that Cami is not for him and only has eyes for D’Andres, but he may be in the same jealousy boat with Vivi and Aaron; and Xi’s theft gets outed.

Ruh roh! moments: Al loses it big time when he gets served with the divorce papers with accusations of impotence, and the previews show that he reacts violently with Cami! Dan admits to Cami that her mom is in Vegas with Dio, and he knows because he’s Dio’s employee!

Gobluefan- Maja sems to like Dan just fine. They work long hours in tns, so it's not always easy to have a certain animal in every shot. I'm sure we'll see her again. She seems to like wandering around the ranch, so that's what I imagine her doing-- flirting with all the ranch hands, and Rodolfo in particular. ;-)

I kind of hate that they have Bratgirl plotting again. The current Leo/pregnancy situation seems enough for one couple to deal with. Seems like the writers ought to share the misery a bit.

Cindy

Luzma needs to stop walking around the hacienda by herself.

Kudos to the writers, director and SN for not forgetting that Cam has an injury that isn't going to magically disappear.

Did Dio tell Agustina that he expected to be treated like the man of the house and with respect when he moved into the hacienda?

Nanette

Nanette- Yes, he did say some crap like that and Gussy is more than willing to accept that. Just wait to he tries to pull that crap with Cami, in HER house!

ITA about Luzma walking around by herself. I was glad that Dan was following her.

Cami often throws in some ouchies when she sits wrong (usually on Dan's lap) or has been sitting for a long time and then gets up. Just like you would if you had a leg injury. She's also gone scurrying for her pain meds a few times, like last night. The only time she seemed to totally forget about it was her first night of passion with D'Andres. Understandable... :)

Dio basically told Gussie, now that we are married, STFU. Like Michael in the Godfather, don't ask me about my business. The dicho was something like, silence is golden.

Can't wait for one of Mena's gems, but hey, she opened it up for us to chit chat.

For once I found a bed scene between Gussie and Dio entertaining. The discussion over where they were going to live was written to perfection. Poor Gussie has no clue that El Rancho was where he wanted to end up in the first place (the better to see you [Cami]). She had to persuade him to do it, when she knew he wanted a place of their own.

I can't wait for Dio to start throwing his weight around as the man of the house. It'll be fun to watch him and Cami tangle over who has the first word AND the last word on how La Malquerida is going to be operated.

If Dan hasn't had his cover blown or been exposed, it's going to be oh so hard to defend her without it being obvious he's something more to her than a mere chauffeur.

Bring on the Games!!

Vivi: I thought by the look on her face, she wasn't too convinced that things were going to work out the way he wanted at the hacienda.

This is the first ep I've seen in a few days, so missed all the bits of business SN is so good re: her injury.

I decide it's time to watch again, got through the Luz scenes OK, and the breaking Pablo's heart scene OK---though I held my breath, and then they show the avances and it looks like Al is going to try to rape Cam!!!

Anita: "it's going to be oh so hard to defend her without it being obvious he's something more to her than a mere chauffeur." I thought so too, especially after seeing the avances and Al goes after Cam.

I'm concerned for Camila based on the avances because it looks like Alonssso will try to rape her. Since she probably just got pregnant by Andres/Daniel, this will open up the paternity issue that is already the initial theme of this series.

I was amused by El Diablo's reaction when his minion described how dirty Leoncerdo was. You almost hear him thinking about having his lair fumigated cuanto antes!

Yes, Nanette: I thought he'd be defending Cam against Dio, but I forgot about the avances. There's no one else at the ranch to intervene when Al grabs her. Mama was there the last time. Hope Dan is around for this round!

Anita: I'd put my money on Cam giving Al a beat down if it wasn't for her injury.

I agree about the comments about the piling on on Luzma. Please give the girl a break.

Dion is not going to be nice to Aggie now that he's married to her. And I hate Rocio(?) Pablo's mother. She is not nice either.

Mena, thanks for putting the discussion board up. We will look forward to your recap.

Vivi's account of the good, the bad and the ugly sure seems right on. A busy episode that sets the stage for many new developments.

I don't blame Luzma one bit for feeling betrayed by everyone's advice. They are correct, she needed to denounce her uncle and she does need counseling. But Leo's on the loose and she's wandering around vulnerable (depending on our Andres being everywhere he is needed at once). Given Piedad's growing strength, she may settle some scores, and not amicably. But in the meantime, Luzma's pain and fear is clear. Well played by this young actress.

I really like Camila's new style, with the long, plaid, belted shirts and leggings. Perfect for this convalescent stage. She looks pretty and natural. I hope I'm not offending any bull or ranch fans in saying that I have hated the steer necklace from the start. It certainly clashes with her new, lighter style, including the headbands.

I didn't expect Andres to spill the beans about his relationship with Dionisio. Where will that lead? Not in the direction of the real truth-telling we need, I don't think. I'll be interested in seeing his follow-up and her reaction tonight.

Rafa a little jealous of his brother! A sweet moment, though someone always has to lose in this kind of situation.

Question: I thought that Nana was telling Iago to not let Bratgirl's role in the rape stay hidden. He should tell Pablo the truth. Instead he did the opposite, urging Pablo to get out of Dodge. Was I out in left field in my sense of where Nana was going with her advice?

Traveling Lady- Yep. That's exactly what Nana advised, but Yago is taking the easy way out trying to convince Pablo to leave.

I'm betting even with her injury Camila will beat down Alonso. I see Alonso more as a temper tantrum kind of guy, not a real physical menace.

Poor Gussie. Her marriage is going downhill as quickly as Camila’s did. I thought she winced at Dio's "take my proper place in your daughter's ranch." She should wonder how he'll have time to run Camila's business when he's so busy with his own "investments." I’m going to enjoy seeing Camila and Mariano put his arrogant a$$ in its proper place.

Thanks Mena! Loved all the $ in the conversation between Isa and Diaz.

Camila really is having a crap day, which is only bound to get worse.

I agree that Luzma's words to Pablo were wise and true, but I do think he was listening. He just wants to be there for her and tackle this together. I don't think he expects her to be exactly as she was before. He just doesn't want her to shut him out.

Oh, the other maid's name is Dorotea, not Juanita.

Mena - Fine recap. Thanks for all the details.

Too bad Luzma let Bratgirl play with her head. She should've taken Irene along with her to the meet. This horrible thing happened to her, but Pablo's very mature. He couldn't be more supportive of her than if he were already married to her.

Mena: recap well worth waiting for, thanks.

Loved this especially:

"As reported earlier, it has been a long train wreck of a day and Camila is in her office with: a sore leg, a louse of a soon-to be-ex, a thief of a sister, a rapist on the loose with a missing gun and these are just the things she knows about."

Flaco had some observations, but he's kinda slammed with work, so I'm passing them along:

Iago: in his house they call him "pollo", his old nickname from Una Familia con Suerte.

Iago disrepects Natalia when he suddenly scares her like pounding on th desk and yelling "Hello" at her. He just met her and he's already treating her ths way. A sign of disrespect.

Nanette- Totally agree about Yago. He was a question mark for a while, but now he's just a selfish jerk. I mean the "Boo! I'm here" thing would be fine a couple times, but then you turn 16 and it should be over with. He thinks he's cute and he's not. He's just going to break Natalia's heart which will be good for Rodolfo! And the info on what the nana told him was interesting. I missed that part. He could put Bratgirl in her proper place by telling Pablo this, but nooo. That wouldn't serve HIS purpose. Schmuck.

Hopefully Pablo just gives Luzma a little space without going away completely. Can't see him giving up his love for her. He's a good boy.

Unlike Alonso. I can't see a paternity question/divorce impedment being a problem here. Camila would go right to the police and have his butt put in jail asap. Divorce, FINAL. But it would be funny to see him fail in bed again.

Kelly

Thanks for the recap Mena.

Add me to the list who hate Bratgirl and Rocio's plot. And the writers have given poor Luzma enough drama.

Mariano just told about Xi and the forgery. When will he tell her about the adultery?

I do not look forward to guess who just got married and Dio being a jerk around the ranch. I felt for Gussy b/c it looked like she realized, "I did this a third time."

Let's hope one rape is enough for this TN. Either Dan needs to beat Al down as he did malo tio or Al should have another failure.

Karen: "Al should have another failure.: Frankly, I'd rather it not even get that far. Ewww!

Karen, Mariano hasn't told Cami about the adultery yet.... No one has.. I call her soon to be ex a louse for every reason but that, so far!

I don't know how many of you saw the full version of the first lovemaking scene of Cemila and Andres. There were some shots that echoed the beginning of the scene when Alonssso first failed with her (such as the removal of her corset/camisole, or whatever; same camera shot). The way things echo in some of these stories just seem to point in the direction of Alonssso trying to rape Camila.

I would love to see him fail at it.

There are other people who can testify to Alonssso's impotence. Like that hooker who oouldn't get away fast enough from him.

Thank you for the recap!

So is D'Andres telling Camila about working for Dionsio part of his strategy of revealing that he's Daniel? Because if it is it's a weird one. I imagine it going something like this: "I am working for Dio but it's all part of my plan to get revenge because I'm really Daniel Diaz Acosta. Dio hired Julian to kill me but my wife was killed instead. I was accused of the murder, went to jail, escaped to come find answers. I thought it was you (Camila) who didn't want me to get my inheritance, but then I realized it wasn't. I then fell in love with you" etc etc.......

Ilana's really getting on my nerves! And so is Dio with his little scolding Agustina about being a "metiche"

Thanks Mena for the greatrecap. As someone before me said, it was worth the wait".

Despite the tremendous amt of sympathy I have for Luzma, I'm ready for closure on that plot. I hope the plot with Bratgirl pouring salt in Luzma's wounds doesn't drag on too long.

I can't wait for tonight to find out more about that look of disbelief on Cami's face when D'Andres told her he works for Dio. Since he's collecting a paycheck from Cami, shouldn't he have told her about his other job before now?

Foxy & TF (Anon)--I agree with you both. How is Dandres going to explain his working for Dio without divulging his reasons. He could say it was to keep an eye on him for how he's been stringing Gussie along, but I can't think of any other way he can get around this. Maybe he IS ready to divulge the whole story.

Oh, Mena--I was out voting when you put up the recap, then we went out to celebrate (I hope) with a nice Mexican dinner.

Just finished and posted without a nod of appreciation.

Thank you for your well-worded recap. We are always so fortunate to get such polished literary gems from our recappers for our insatiable thirst for tn gratification.

Vivi--I meant to send you an LOL for your description of Maja's flirting with the ranch hands. They'd better bring back the dog. She's very much a part of Dan & Cam's love story, no?

Mena, I'm sorry I'm so late, but I did want to thank you for your excellent recap.
