El Mundo de Telemundo, week of 11/5/12 -- Discuss Amongst Yourselves
Some guys with ski masks have come to break Miggy and Camilo out of jail. Miggy keeps insisting he’s not Jesús Matamoros. The thugs kill a couple of the cops, hopefully the especially nasty one. They put them in a car and take them away.
Well, the priest did the deed. It’s very rare for the religious ceremony to actually take place with the villain getting the girl. Usually the villain gets a civil ceremony at best. He kisses her and she pushes him away. He hints that maybe their night of passion [which never happened] might mean she’s pregnant with his baby.
When JM can’t talk Sam out of going to Colombia, he just tells her to show up in the pueblo. El Verdugo will find out right away that she’s there. And she has one big advantage: D8D won’t want anyone to kill her.
Willy asks Duval to watch the babies while he runs out to try to stop Sam!
Rotten Rod starts to rip off Clara’s clothes. She knees him in the jewels, causing him to fall off the bed and hit his head, hard, on the night stand. She thinks she’s killed him. Later we see her splashing water on him, quite alive. She tells him the next time he tries that she’ll kill him. We hear D8D calling out for her. RR falls to his knees begging her not to tell his padrino; he says he’d kill him.
The Reptile who is 24/7 gloating about everything brings Nico to see Nora.
EV has decided that the most romantic spot for his wedding supper is in the dungeon. Music plays. Roses. Champagne. He dances with her while she shakes with sobs.
The Arroyo family is having a happy family dinner in the kitchen. Everyone is all smiles, including little Juan Cruz, who usually just looks blank. Of course this doesn’t last long. Ángela forgot to give him a letter she signed for. The letter says he has a week to get out of the house.
Willy is at the gate trying to prevent Sam from getting on the plane. She says she’s doing it because of how much she loves her family.
Nico tries to convince Nora he did the right thing. His parents now have the two babies. Nora reminds him of how his parents searched for him. Jessica pipes up that she wants him to stay a while.
Camilo is thrown by the thugs into the same room as Gus.
EV gloats over having Fabiola and she looks completely miserable. [We can just copy and paste that sentence when necessary for a good long while, I’m sure.]
Camilo brings Gus up to speed about being in jail with Miggy. Camilo thinks that the narcos are mad at him for impersonating El Mesías.
Miggy is in front of Ivonne Matamoros, La Niña Bonita, played by Sandra Beltrán, who was none other than Malicia in El Clon. Miggy tells her he’s not Jesús Matamoros, he’s Miguel Valdez. She says she’s the wife of Jesús Matamoros and El Verdugo killed him.
Willy appears at the house of D8D and tells him that he’ll kill him if he doesn’t protect Sam. She went to Colombia to the house of narcos because of what D8D did in sending Nico to Colombia. D8D looks scared and miserable. He says he didn’t want that to happen.
Ángela tells JM she’ll go to the notary to see what’s up with the supposed sale of his house.
EV carries Fabiola into the bedroom, takes off her veil, and starts to put some moves on her. Cell phone rings. It’s Ringo telling him about what happened at the jail. EV says: “And Valdez?” causing FF’s ears to prick up. She immediately confronts him about Miggy.
La Niña Bonita goes into bragging mode much like EV, telling Miggy she’s wanted by the DEA, Interpol, and the FBI. She was the woman, comrade, and accomplice of El Mesías. She’s very dangerous, and her name is Ivonne Matamoros. Miggy tells her it’s a surprise to meet a criminal with such a brilliant resumé. She offers him a drink. He tells her that he hates El Verdugo and wants him dead.
FF goes after EV, actually hitting him, wanting to know what he did to Miggy. She says he sent someone to kill him. He denies it.
We get a little comic relief with Duval in front of two bassinettes. One baby is crying and, from the expression on Duval’s face, the other has a full diaper. Cecilia has come to help. The nanny wasn’t feeling well. Willy returns.
Miggy tells La Niña Bonita (NB) that EV took his woman. She asks if he forced her. He says: Yes, at first. She says no woman can resist El Verdugo.
Ringo tells EV the people involved in the jail break weren’t local. EV wonders if it could have been Miggy. He also tells Ringo to go to town and kill everyone suspicious [!]. But he’ll be the one to kill NB.
Miggy takes a little nap. When he wakes NB tells him that EV killed her husband and all of his people, except for the four who broke him out of jail. She lost her house and a large part of her money. But she still has her rage. She asks him to unite with her to get EV because they have the same enemy. Miggy says, if she investigated him, she knows he doesn’t play well with narcos.
Arturo wakes up the babies barking. Willy accuses him of being jealous. Sam calls and he tells her to come back. He tells her D8D said he’ll get Nico out of there.
Ángela returns from the notary. The papers say he sold his house to one Victoria Villafane! I notice that JM’s scar seems to vary from scene to scene. Sometimes it’s hardly there; other times it looks like it’s still bleeding. She also says that JM put all his money in Victoria’s name.
D8D calls Canario, who tells him Sam is not at EV’s house. He tells Willy that he loves Sam. Clara overhears this and asks why he insists on being with her.
Sam tries to talk to a local guy, who totally clams up. She figures out Ringo is part of the gang and gets into the back of the SUV. He points a gun at her. She tells him she’s looking for EV. She’s Nicolás’s mother, and she came for him.
Génesis and Violeta worry about being poor and having to leave their house. Ángela’s phone rings and it’s the Reptile calling to gloat. She says the only thing left is Ángela, and she’s coming for her.
Ringo brings Sam to the dungeon blindfolded. He’s practically drooling on her. He smells her and tries to kiss her. He gets a knee in the groin for his trouble. This only makes him more attracted to her.
Fabiola looks like she might get on a horse and leave, but EV is right there, also mounted. He tells her Miggy is with his worst enemy, Ivonne Matamoros. He says NB won’t kill him. She’ll seduce him and take him to her bed. No man can resist her.
Miggy has changed his mind. He says he’s prepared to do anything to get rid of EV, even join up with narcos. She says he reminds her of Matamoros and plants a kiss on him. He appears to be kissing back.
Pablo's guys put up nets to stop the copters from landing. So far, the choppers can't find the farm, the old guide says it looks different from the air. But finally, there it is! The shooting starts. Pablo's brushing his teeth, then calmly putting on his tennies. But when bullets start hitting the bed right next to him, he wakes us fast. He's given an assault rifle.
The old guy in the helicopter is praying. Both Aguirre and Pabon are shooting down onto the scurrying drug guys, who are returning fire. Most of the shots for both sides are missing. We see a few random drug guys go down, but some of the ones we know have made it to the woods. Others, including Pablo, Peluche, Fabio and Gonzalo are sort of pinned in. They have to cross this open section. They go across as a group, firing at the helicopters. Fabio is shooting, but his gun jams. As he tries to fix it, he's hit, over and over! Pablo rushes to help him, not caring about the bullets flying around him. But the others pull him away, it's too late. They all escape, though.
Paty answers the phone, her face turns ashen as the phone slips from her hand.
The President tells the press this killing of Fabio is just the first step, and shows the government is getting results.
Juan Guillermo Cano is back from Spain. Fernando asks if he thinks the fact that El Espectador was hit the day Fernando returned was a coincidence, and JuanG says yes, they didn't know Fer was coming back, and had to have planned it for weeks. They discuss the fact that when Marcus Herber was caught, that didn't really stop the cartel. The killing of Fabio won't, either.
At the funeral service, Paty is despondent. The cops are watching, with snipers (francotiradores) in the trees. But they know Pablo wouldn't be stupid enough to show up here. And that's right, the only ones there are Enelia and the kids. Enelia tries to cheer up Paty, but she resolutely says this was Pablo's fault.
Aguirre is ebullient, we should celebrate. But Pabon is somber. They'll retaliate. We have to get out of Medellín. They've been recruiting young guys from the streets. They run this city. We can't even trust people in the police academy, they have that infiltrated. We need to get to Bogotá. They listen to another tape from their wiretaps, in which revenge against the cops is discussed. They think it's sick that they, the police, have to flee, but that's just the way it is. The army caravan transports them, they're in a jeep, wearing bullet proof vests. We see Cadonga help another guy load a bazooka. He fires. But they hit the wrong car, and Aguirre and Pabon have escaped to Bogotá.
Cadonga apologizes to Pablo. Pablo, with his usual menace, gives him one week (in Spanish, it's 8 days) to solve the problem.
Thanks, Novelera, excellent recap. The thing with JM selling his house, and then giving all his money to a woman with a fictitious name is quite ridiculous, but standard for this show.
I also enjoyed Duval trying to take care of the babies. Cecelia admitted she didn't have any, either, but had some experience with her little brother. Apparently the key knowledge with babies is whether you test the formula on the front of your hand or the back. Only the experts know which way is correct.
I agree, they don't usually go with the church wedding for the bad guys. But as long as FF never really sleeps with EV, I think we'll be okay.
It's funny that both EV and NB have reputations that no one can resist their seductiveness. If this were a real show like Pablo Escobar, we'd know that money and fear play roles in this. Fortunately, this is a farce, and we can happily let EV and NB gloat about their irresistability.
Every time I see Jessica act as if FF should be happy to be married to her "wonderful Dad", I want FF to yell out, "He's making me marry him against my will. He's threatened to kill my boyfriend". But of course FF will never say that, since she doesn't want to hurt little Jessie's feelings.
JM made a good point when he told Angela, of everyone who went to Colombia, I'm the only one who's made it back. They need to join together! At least Miggy and Gus are together.
I was really hoping Rod WAS dead, since Clara was acting in self defense, although Duval would probably say he's bound by the law to send her to jail for life. Since Rod isn't dead, can we find some way to send him back to Scotland?
there is a short picture summary of this episode posted on TW here,
http://foro.telenovela-world.com/n4/read-t.php?f=1123&i=3607&t=3607
Excellent recap, Hombre. It sure was fun to see Pablo and his boys scurrying around like rats. The one I really want to see lleno de plomo is Chili.
For some reason I thought the one that would get shot would be Gonzalo. But when they showed Fabio all alone with his jammed gun, it was clear.
I wonder if this will finally be it for Paty. She stayed married to him, of course, for the rest of his life. But I don't know if we know that she was happy about it or afraid to leave.
I love that word francotirador. I think someone, maybe Deb, maybe Hombre, posted something about the origin of the expression.
I remember when they said something about poles in Thursday's episode, but I was envisioning hundreds of poles somewhere, rather than nets suspended from poles.
I noticed that just when Pabon and Aguirre are getting into the army vehicles, they showed some sneaky looking soldier talking on a walky talky. It must be absolutely horrific to realize that people that close to you are paid off to help kill you.
thanks so much Hombre !!!
this reminded me of a show I saw on Vietnam, when the guys got in the helicopter they sat on their helmets, the new guy figured it out when the bullets started coming through the floor.
the death of Mario Henao, (known to us as Fabio)...
(from "The Accountant's Story: Inside the Violent World of the Medellín Cartel
by Roberto Escobar")
"It was later I found out that those damn mosquitoes had killed Pablo's brother-in-law Mario Henao, our brother in our souls, as he tried to get to the river. Pablo saw him get shot. I didn't. Pablo was shooting back as he ran. Maybe he hit one of the choppers with a machine gun; it was said he did but I didn't see that either. But the loss of Mario was a terrible pain to all of us. When we were safe in the woods we received the confirmation that he died and that was the only time I ever saw Pablo cry. In addition to several dead, they had captured fourteen of our people, but none of the leaders were among them."
This book is a story on Pablo's life as told by Roberto Escobar, Pablo's brother (known to us as Peluche) around 2008. It reads as if Pablo is the hero, but it's quite interesting in relating the facts, from a guy that was there. It isn't necessarily in order so it can be a spoiler.
I forgot where I got this from but found another place to download it.

thanks so much novelera !!!
something about the normal people, Jessica, Nora, Laura, Nico, and who ever else is passing through, in Verdugo's house, doing normal things, that is so surreal.
It sounded like all of the police were killed at the jail, isn't that what Ringo said?
You would think the bad guys would be so busy with other bad guys, they could leave the good guys alone, especially since there are so few, who would have thought that knowing D8D would lead to being in a narco war in Colombia.
I could see how JM could sign over everything to Victoria, when she had him drugged, it took him a while to figure that out.
I'm liking the new lady, La Niña Bonita, so how will that work if Miggy joins the bad guys?
ah yes, Duval the babysitter, can't do that either, the unemployment guys would have a tough time finding him a job doing anything.
Thanks so much novelera and Jean.
Yes! Jessica is really really stupid! I can't stand her.
I liked La Niña Bonita! Looking forward to see how this new team will work. Miguel the bad boy! Wow! Great :)
Good to see Sam in action again!
Thanks very much Novelera; I missed the entire episode so the recap was much appreciated. Too bad I missed Miggy's intro to NB, that sounds like an interesting partnership.
They have "aged" Jessica so that she now looks like a teenager instead of a middle schooler.
I was not impressed by her in "Eva Luna" but she's much more likeable in this role.
J in Oregon
Just a reminder, due to Monday night football, my recap won't be up until tomorrow evening.
Miggy pulls away from La Nina Bonita’s kiss. She tells him she wants to have him become El Mesías. When he asks why, she tells him that with only she and the 4 guys she’ll probably end up dead in an alley. He asks for the handcuffs to be taken off so he can think better! She does trust him. She wants the two of them to get back Jesús Matamoros’ fortune and then go for the head of El Verdugo. He tells her she needs to tell him all her secrets.
Fabiola is feeling a bit jealous and asks who is La Niña Bonita. And why did they take Miggy? EV says his enemies are uniting. But she shouldn’t worry because he will win.
Ringo continues to try to force himself on Sam. He says he loves tough women and knows how to domesticate them.
D8D waves a gun at Willy, saying he’s fed up. He says he’s calling Colombia because he cares about Sam and his grandson, not because of Willy’s threats. He gets EV on the phone and is asking him nicely to care for Sam and his grandson when Willy grabs the phone and calls EV a disgusting criminal. EV doesn’t appear to lose his temper. He says he hasn’t yet seen Sam, but Nico is there. And, if his princess wants him there, why wouldn’t he grant her wish? He calls Miggy osito de peluche (plush teddy bear).
Canario tells EV that Ringo is back, but he doesn’t know where he is.
La Niña Bonita tells Miggy that she and El Verdugo met when they were kids, when he was Javier. And Jesús Matamoros was Javier’s best friend. They planned to rule the world together until they realized that, in a kingdom, there could only be one king. She says that she was just a girl in love (with Javier) but realized that there was a rivalry behind the friendship. One day Javier left her and went after a girl in the United States. She didn’t waste time crying over it, but instead inserted herself in Jesús’ bed and became his woman. Then El Verdugo got greedy. He took their business, their land, and killed Jesús. She wants him to resuscitate Jesús Matamoros.
Ángela tells JM that the Reptile told her on the phone that she has everything. JM asks for a computer.
In Colombia the Reptile is gloating to Lucy. She thinks Ángela won’t stick around when he’s poor.
Canario comes to interrupt Ringo’s pawing at Sam. He tells Canario she’s his early Christmas gift. Ringo has to leave to see EV. Sammy shouts for Nico.
But Nico is with Jessica and she’s telling him he’s a hero for coming to see her. Laura comes in and asks Jessica to ask her father to let her live in LA with her. EV overhears her saying she won’t leave her father.
Fabiola asks Rosario to tell her about Matamoros. Nora comes in and says that Rosario won’t do anything against EV’s wishes because she’s his mother.
NB shows Miggy on a map where the drug money is hidden. She says El Mesías was very intelligent. Miggy asks for a picture of him, but NB says he never allowed one.
JM checks his bank accounts. Everything is in the name of Victoria. [Now I know we have to suspend disbelief; but this feels like a bridge too far for me. Wouldn’t he just have to show his scarred face at the bank, identify himself, and prove that he was drugged into signing over his property to a person who doesn’t even exist?]
EV finally meets Sam. He makes some sarcastic comments about her manners. She says the only thing she needs to leave this crappy place is her son. He tells her it’s not easy. She gets right in his face about what he did to her brother.
NB introduces herself to Camilo and Gus. She tells them Miguel Valdez disappeared and her husband returned. Miggy marches in dressed in a new narco shirt and with a fancy narco belt buckle. He tells Camilo and Gus that Miguel Valdez doesn’t exist. He is Jesús Matamoros. He wants them to help him. Gus insists he’s a cop. Miggy says he might be one in LA, but in Colombia he’s not.
Nora tells Rosario that she’ll have to help she and Fabiola or she’ll tell EV she’s his mother. Fabiola: “He doesn’t know you’re his mother?”
Ringo tells Sam he can’t believe Miggy is her brother. She’s beautiful; and he’s ugly. She tells him he’s nothing but a marionette of El Verdugo. Ringo says that her husband can’t be much if he’d let her come alone. He wheedles a kiss on the cheek out of her to tell her Nico is there.
JM tells Willy that he was drugged by Willy’s sister in Colombia and signed some papers. Willy, of course, offers a roof over their heads. JM doesn’t want to go to Willy’s house and endanger them.
Miggy describes his plan to find the buried money, buy weapons, and get additional guys. Gus and Camilo agree to help. NB says there’s $5 million in the closest place and $10 million in another. She says it’s not much money, though [!] She says she buried the loot herself in the garden. But she knows that EV will have the place guarded. She warns them not to betray her.
D8D arrives, having heard that Willy is at the Arroyo house. JM runs and hides. He apologizes for pointing a gun at Willy, saying he lost control. Ángela tells D8D that she lost the house and her children won’t have anything from their father. D8D looks astonished.
Ringo says EV told him to treat Sam like a princess. He tells her D8D is calling about her. He says she must have driven Bernardo del Castillo crazy just like she’s driving him crazy. She says she’s all his if he brings her her son. He frees her hands and is working on the knots in the ropes around her ankles when she gets loose and bashes him hard. She gets the best of him and runs off.
The Reptile tells EV they have too many intruders in the house. She wants him to put them all on a plane. He once again marvels at her. “You don’t even love your own blood.” She agrees and then offers to have sex with him since it isn’t happening with FF. [How does she know this? And why does EV let her say it?] He tells her he’s a married man now and is respecting that.
NB tells Miggy she knows all about Miggy’s reasons for vengeance: Fabiola.
FF tells Nora that if she hadn’t lied to Miggy about her feelings, EV would have killed him. Nora tells her she’s sure he didn’t believe it. Nora tells Fabiola what we’ve wanted to know for a while – Rosario’s story. She was an employee of El Verdugo Senior and got pregnant by him. She was afraid he’d kill her. But the wife couldn’t get pregnant. He took her son to pass him off as a child of his marriage. Just then Sam rushes in.
Gus is having second thoughts. He tells Camilo they should flee and get help, and that, for Miggy, this is personal. Miggy comes in just then and says that it IS personal. He wants to look FF in the eye and ask if she lied, having been forced to do so. Or if she really fell for EV. He needs this more than breathing. Gus says he’s sure FF lied. She loved Miggy more than life. NB marches in just then and tells Miggy, with evident pleasure, that Fabiola and EV got married, all alone with no guards, in the town church.
Nico runs to Sam. Jessica looks worried. Then she says that her papa is great with her and will do whatever she asks. Sam just tells Nico he’s leaving with her.
Ringo enters and says that EV told him to take care of them.
Ángela has suggested that the family move to Gus’ house. He says no way. [Wait a minute; didn’t he go there himself when he first got back. What’s the big deal?] He asks what she feels for Gus. She says it’s affection and gratitude. She never loved Gus. She says Gus would want them to stay there. Just then the girls come in with their dolls and doll buggies, saying they’re going to sell them to help buy a house. Very cute.
Sam calls Willy to say she and Nico are well. She says they’ll return tomorrow. Sam says she wants Nora to come. Nora looks like she’s going to want to stay with the viper. Fabiola says she can’t leave because she’s married to EV.
NB says she’s coming along on the raid as well. Fist bumps all around. Miggy says he thinks his life may change radically tonight.
Canario comes to tell EV that there are strange movements at the house in the hills, and reminds him it’s one of the preferred fincas of Jesús Matamoros. EV springs into action, saying they’ll take a helicopter. Ringo will stay to watch the fort.
Ringo approaches Sam, calling her golden girl. He knows she’s going to Bogotá tomorrow and doesn’t want her to go. She tells him he’s a handsome guy; too bad she met him here. The Reptile comes in and warns him that Sam is dangerous.
Ángela tells JM she wants their last night in the house to be memorable, and she comes in dressed in a sexy devil costume.
Clara shows up asking Willy to help her go to Colombia to look for Camilo.
FF tells Sam she married EV because of Miggy, so that EV would not kill him. Sam says she has a plan that would enable Fabiola to leave with her and Nico.
EV and Canario arrive at the finca. There are a couple of bodies lying around. EV says they got there too late. One wounded guy tells them it was Jesús Matamoros!
thanks so much novelera !!!
you do such an amazing job relaying a story, that is so layered with twists and turns.
I like the La Niña Bonita, how she knows what she wants, and goes for it. It's also interesting how you can't really say she is controlling Miggy, who we've come to know as the toughest guy around, but she does seem to have her hands on the reins.
That seemed odd to me, all of the bodies, because good guys never kill unless they are provoked, but lets say we have a small band of people that are trying to take down someone like Pablo Escobar, wow, that sure is a different way to look at it.
I don't really have a problem with JM losing all, it's not like the banks and such will help him because that is his signature, but he probably could do a court thing, but that will take some time. I'm seeing him making cakes with Angela and the kids.
Interesting reveal by Nora on Rosario being Verdugo's mom. but how does Nora know this? I'm still curious about that untold part of her life.
It still kind of throws me all of the out-of-towners at Verdugo's, interesting scene where Fabiola tells Sammi she can't go with her, because she is married to Verdugo. I wonder what is Sammi's plan?
oh yeah, clueless Clara in Colombia, I can only imagine,
but what good intentions she has, so sweet.
was the "golden girl" (Sammi) actually softening towards Ringo, he did act a bit like Willy, and looked a bit like Gaul, all of these burning candles always around, and Ringo always with the lighter, wonder if that's his job too.
Great recap, Novelera! I think we're getting closer to the truth about the Reptile's mother come out. In yesterday's episode, the Reptile tried to analyze her feelings for Nora. And then after Nora tells FF about how Rosario pretended to be EV's nana when she was really his mother, Nora says something like, "It's not that unusual. I know of a case where... and then Sam comes in. So the Rosario/EV situation is presumably the same as the Ofélia/Reptile situation. Since Ofélia is dead, disclosing the truth might really turn the Reptile against D8D and she would have a stronger desrire for vengeance on Gus since he killed her real mother, not just her substitute mother.
I assume that Nora knows about Rosario being EV's mother because wasn't it stated that D8D and EV's dad were friends?
I agree, Jean, that we're close to finding out that Ofelia was really the Reptile's mother, but Nora raised her until D8D, out of jealousy, had her framed for drug trafficking and murder.
The odd thing is that, if Nora couldn't conceive, like EV Senior's wife, then why doesn't D8D love the Reptile. They've played it as he always felt an antipathy toward her. You'd think he'd be delighted to finally get a child and thus cherish her.
And, I guess the problem went away because Willy really is her child?
Oh well. We know logic doesn't enter into it very much.
You're right. It doesn't make sense unless there is some reason other than infertility that Nora accepted the Reptile as her child. But wait, hasn't Willy alluded to some past time when they all were happy? The Reptile was shy, etc. I sort of thought that the Reptile earned D8D's disdain when she turned out to be ugly. But who knows and applying logic is certain to be a mistake ;-)
In Bogotá, Peraza brags to Pabon how these offices in the Department of Security Building have armored glass, he's totally secure here. Also, he's assigned 10 men to protect Pabon. Pabon isn't happy, though. His job is to catch Escobar, who's in Medellín, he shouldn't be hiding out. And they even knew his escape route. Definitely someone in the Police Academy sold him out. Two men were killed by that rocket. It's very troubling. Enter Ulloa, who says, maybe just wait a few days to regroup. Peraza says you're never going to catch Escobar until you clean up the leaks inside of your own forces. They all have to admit this may be true.
Enelia is telling Emilio and Daniela to get their things, it's time to go. They've got presents, as it's Pablo's birthday party. Enelia makes Pati change out of her black mourning dress, don't want to depress Pablo on his big day. The kids ask where Daddy is, and Enelia really doesn't know. As they get into the SUV's someone is watching. It's probably the cops, as Aguirre, in full combat gear, has set up a roadblock. He tells a private that no, they won't let them through and follow them to Escobar's, that would never work, Escobar for sure has a way to elude them. Better to block the road.
In the jail, we see Miguel, Galán's killer, pensive. A friend asks if they'll get out. He tells the guy, I'm not worried about that, I'm worried about what those people who hired us are thinking. You mean, that we might sing, and they might try to kill us to prevent that? You got it. A handsome smug cop we've seen before tells Longhair and another guy they're getting released. Everybody yells, why not us? We're innocent. The cop doesn't pay any mind to them. (It does seem a little random to me. Either the cops are stupid, or they have something planned – probably the former).
The roadblock stops the SUV's. Enelia and Paty get out. The cops check the ID's of the drivers. Enelia complains, have we committed any crime? Or is being a relative of Pablo a crime? No, I never said you committed any crime, we're just checking the people who are escorting you, they could be rascals. Oh sure, she replies sarcastically. Well, I'm just gonna have to tell Pablo about this. Are you threatening me, M'am? Of course not, take it as you wish. Now I think we're done. Let's go. (That Enelia is sure one tough cookie).
At the ranch, we see from the cake that Pablo's 40. Chili calls up, this army guy named Aguirre won't let your family through! Pablo gets enraged, no one messes with my family. Here's what we'll do. Call Candonga. Cancel the hit on Colonel Pabon in Bogotá. I'm tired of killing Colonels, I'm going to start killing Generals!
Candonga is putting together a letter bomb, I think. He's using C-4 plastic explosive. Buitre argues with him saying he's stupid, thinks he's a bomb expert. But I think Candonga DOES know what he's doing, and Buitre is going to cause some sort of accident. They definitely are a little careless with the explosives.
Aguirre finally tells Enelia she can go. But they have to detain two of the men, who have outstanding arrest warrants. Little Emilio yells at the cop, shut up, you fool! The cop says hmm, like father, like son. Pati says how dare you disrespect us. Aguirre says I think it's the other way around. Enelia asks So can we go? Yes, replies Aguirre, but do me a favor. Do the country a favor. Ask Pablo to turn himself in. Sure, says Enelia, but what about the white collar crooks who scam all the people? What about the corrupt politicians? When those guys turn themselves in, maybe I'll think about telling Pablo to turn himself in. With pleasure! Now, we're out of here!
The cars proceed, and Pati is really mad, the birthday party is ruined, we're so late, we'd better really go fast. Enelia says calm down, either we get there on time or we don't, it's just the way it is. It turns out, the cops ARE following them. Emilio blurts out “those damn rats!” Enelia doesn't like this language, even though Pati says it's understandable. Enelia says let's pray, children.
Aguirre reports to Pabon. One of the guys made a call to Pablo, but we couldn't trace it. So we started following them, but they noticed, so we let them go. Pabon is frustrated, set up 24 hour surveillance on the family. Make your guys wear camouflage. Trust me, his family is Pablo Escobar's Achilles heel!
Back at the ranch, Pablo is furious at the delay, his party is ruined, he starts tearing down balloons (what a baby!). Mariachi's on the phone. He first congratulates Pablo, but Pablo's not in the mood. Pedro had said Mariachi had some plan, and Pedro agreed. So what's the f'*ing plan? Calm down, Pablo. I just heard that our “friends of Galan” (the killers) are being held in the Department of Security. Pablo tells him he knows lots of people are being held, but are they our guys? Yeah, they are, says Mariachi. Pablo says so let's just silence them. Right says Mariachi, I'll send Naufrago down there (the guy with the eye patch). Don't bother, says Pablo, I can do it faster than you. Oh really? Just how? asks Mariachi. Pablo hangs up on him. Chili! I want a REALLY big bomb. I want to blow up the entire Government Security Building in Bogotá (the one Peraza was bragging about at the start of this episode). All ten floors. I want that worm Peraza dead. And find out where the prisoners are being held, I want every prisoner DEAD. And that's not all. We're going to start killing pregnant women, the elderly. Not just reporters and police. Let's see how the government responds to THAT!!!!!!!
Super recap, Hombre.
What a jerk Escobar is! I know, I know, this is obvious. But his petulant baby behavior when his birthday party looked like a flop was unbelievable.
Even before he knew his family would be late he was snarling at Peluche about the cake being ugly.
Yep, that Enelia is a piece of work all right. And practically ordering Paty to take off her mourning for her precious son's party!
I hope those poor innocent guys in the jail don't get blown up. That was just the height of absurdity when that grinning fool with the beard and the long hair who really was in on the plot to kill Galán was being released. I suppose that was his reward for ratting out the other killer.
Great recap, Novelera. One interesting thing is that most of the actors who are playing Colombians always use the formal usted, while all the other actors (although many of them actually are FROM Colombia in real life) always use tú. When Ringo was talking to Sammy, this was happening. And EV uses usted for everybody, even Ringo, who is his underling. I remember this use of the formal was also present in Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso, which made me laugh when the main girl said to her boyfriend "lo amo"!
Novelera- Your recaps have been a real gift as I have not watched this in a while. The plot has gotten so crazy, but with your entertaining recaps, I can picture it all.
So everyone is in Colombia now? LOL!
My Spanish teacher says that Gregory Pernia, the actor who plays EV, always has a very strong Colombian accent that he is either unable or unwilling to modify no matter what novela he is in. She says that the other actors are more successful in losing their regional accents.
Accents are very hard for me to recognize unless they are really obvious, like Pablo Escobar's, which I guess is a Medellin accent.
Nia, I've also had problems with CC3, some days it's really delayed, others it works.
The killer of Galán and his bald friend are discussing their case in jail. They debate whether longhair will talk, since he was let out.
At Pablo's family highrise, Emilio is unhappy. Enelia tries to cheer him up. How come Mom said that it was Daddy's fault for Uncle Fabio dying? That's not right honey, the police killed your uncle. Why? Because they don't agree with our views on politics. But that cop said Daddy was bad. Oh no, your Daddy is a good man. Don't believe those people.
Pablo and Pedro are talking. Pablo says first we'll kill the king, then the rooks. We'll get Peraza, then cause chaos in the population. Pedro, for once doesn't seem totally opposed, which pleases Pablo.
Candongo, wearing a suit, delivers his letter (bomb) to General Peraza. It's sitting on the table in front of Peraza, a big manila envelope with lots of tape and no address. Peraza thinks nothing of it, but Pabon says, don't you think it's suspicious? Oh, yeah, guess so, says Peraza, and gets some underlings to check it out. The idiots go in the other room, shake it up, and boom!!!
On a bus, Chili and Candonga are escaping from the scene, get impatient, kick the driver out at gunpoint.
In the hospital, 3 guys are badly hurt from the letter bomb. Peraza thinks it was a miracle he didn't get hurt, that God is on his side. Pabon isn't so sure. One of the workers lost his arms, another will be blind for life. Peraza does realize that if they don't take down the cartel, there'll be more deaths.
Pablo is furious (again) that the latest job didn't work. He calls Candongo, Chili and Topo the 3 lazy bums. He says he should get other guys who know how to do the job right. And now Pabon and Peraza are on the alert. We'll change strategy. We see the cartel guys deciding to go back to the plan to kill César Gavirira.
We see some new people (I think). One is studying, his mother (maybe) is encouraging him, but his brother says he'll never find a job.
Pablo's new plan? Instead of using dynamite to blow up the police building, they're going to blow up an airplane! This will cause collective panic.
Buitre and Candonga argue about the bomb making skills of Candonga again. I keep waiting for something to explode. Chili tells the guys to chill. He tells them of the new orders to blow up a plane.
We see a nice father and daughter in the airport, buying tickets. Then we see Candonga in his suit buying 2 tickets from Bogotá to Cali. Chili calls another new guy, a light skinned black guy with a neat short haircut. This guy is overjoyed to have a job. Finally he has work! Chili tells him to come to Bogotá, but don't tell anyone, not even your mother. I don't have any money. Chili will send the money for tickets.
César Gavirira talks to Peraza about security. Peraza advises him never separate from your guards. And you'd better stop the outdoor rallies. But, asks Gavirira, didn't you catch the killers of Galán? Well yes, but still......
Pedro Montoa is telling his brothers about Pablo's plan to blow up a plane. The brothers don't like this strategy, the whole country will hate us. But (I think) Pedro says it's the only way to make the government negotiate about extradition, we have to pressure them.
Tomorrow: Pressure!!!!!
thanks so much Hombre !!!
hmm, I know Pablo has this great idea about creating panic by killing innocent people, but wasn't it the other guy he was talking to, that had the actual idea to blow up a plane?
(this is all so today terrorism stuff, did Pablo write the book for al-Qaeda)
and the bus, wasn't sure what that was all about, but didn't Pablo want a bigger bomb, and it looked like Buitre and Candonga were in that same bus turning it into a giant bomb, what a pair, with Buitre always fussing around while Candonga is fine tuning, it's only a matter of time before these guys launch.
Thanks, Deb, for the extra info. I didn't use the subtitles, and rushed things, so I'm sure your corrections are right. Buitre is such a loose cannon, he's probably not going to last.
If this was supposed to be the Gran Estreno of the Nuevo Etapa of the novela, it didn’t really seem like it. We did have two secrets revealed by accidental overhearing.
EV says that he doesn’t believe that it was El Mesías [EM since JM for Jesús Matamoros] is not available. He killed EM himself. He then kills a guy who was wounded in the attack saying that he doesn’t like to see people suffering.
La Niña Bonita (NB) is pleased with the operation and tells Miggy that he did a good job.
Sam tells FF that she has to leave Colombia. She asks FF is she is sleeping with EV. FF replies that EV hasn’t made her do anything except one time when she got drunk and can’t remember. Sam says that she has a plan that will let FF escape.
Clara tells Willy that she wants to go to Colombia to find Camilo. Willy advises her to wait until Sam returns. She may have news.
JM likes Angie’s “diabolita,” “little devil” costume and they get it on.
The Reptile tells Nora to leave Colombia. She doesn’t need her.
FF agrees to leave with Sam. EV comes in and tells FF that she had better not betray him.
Gus is an “aguafiestas,” a party pooper member of NB’s gang. He keeps complaining. Camilo is entranced by seeing $5 million in cash. NB tells them that she wants to go get the 2nd hidden horde of $10 million.
EV tells FF that he doesn’t want sex, sometimes he just needs a hug. His sad story is that his mother wasn’t affectionate; he didn’t have love, friends or a family. He lost his best friend – he killed him. EV cries and asks FF again to give him a hug. She turns her back on him.
NB asks Miggy if he is capable of doing anything for love. He says that he is.
D8D tells Rotten Rod that Clara is his woman and he wants her back. Rod says that he thought D8D was in love with Sam but D8D replies that he still wants Clara back.
Willy is overwhelmed with baby care. Clara helps him. Willy says that he can’t stop thinking about Sam.
Nora doesn’t want to leave EV’s house.
Gus urges Camilo and Miggy to leave NB’s gang.
EV describes to Ringo how he killed EM and his men for betraying him. FF overhears this conversation. EV tells Ringo that those who betray him die. Ringo asks about FF. EV replies that if FF leaves him, she dies. It’s him or nobody.
Secret #1 revealed by accidental overhearing: Rosario is annoyed with Nora for telling her secret to others. She doesn’t want anyone to know that she is EV’s mother. She says that she would never tell anyone that the Reptile was not Nora’s child. Of course, the Reptile overhears this.
The Reptile goes off on Nora and Nora dissolves into tears saying that although she isn’t the Reptile’s biological mother, she raised her, which she describes in detail.
Miggy wants to stay in Colombia. He wants to find out the truth about FF and kill EV.
Sam urges Jéssica to leave EV. Nic backs her up by saying that he needs her and that EV is a bad guy. Jéssica replies that EV loves her and that’s all she cares about. She won’t leave.
The Reptile tells Nora to get out of her life. Nora begs the Reptile to forgive her. She says that D8D never would let him tell her and that she loves the Reptile. The Reptile demands to know who her real mother is but Nora says that she doesn’t know. The Reptile says that she doesn’t believe Nora and hits her. EV has arrived on the scene and is in his family guy [as opposed to his ruthless killer mode]. Defying all telenovela tradition, he tells the Reptile that a mother is the person who raised a child not the one who gave birth to the child. He demands that the Reptile apologize to Nora, which she does, ungraciously.
Secret #2 revealed by accidental overhearing: Clara tells Willy that she loved Camilo even when she thought he was Luis, the killer. The always unlocked door rule also applies here. D8D barges in and hears this.
More eavesdropping: NB has put a microphone in the room where Gus, Miggy and Camilo are discussing their options. She tells Gus that the only way he leaves the gang is if he is dead.
Nora tells Sam that D8D had the Reptile outside their marriage. At first, she was upset but she accepted the child since she was having trouble conceiving. Sam confirms with Nora that Willy is her biological child. We see FF sneaking into the back of the car that will take Nora, Sam and Nic to the airport in Bogotá.
The Reptile tells EV that Nora has destroyed her life. Now she knows that she is illegitimate. [I guess that’s worse that being a mass murderer.] EV is not sympathetic. He says that at least she got a mother’s love, which is more than many get.
D8D tells Clara and Willy that now he understands so much. He tells Clara that with one call, Camilo will be dead.
Sam, Nic and Nora are bound and and blindfolded for their trip to Bogotá with Ringo driving. EV is looking for FF. On the road, FF sneezes so she pulls her gun and makes Ringo stop the car. She tells Ringo to leave and Sam drives off in the car. Unfortunately, she is lost.
EV finds the pillows that FF left in her bed and realizes that she escaped. Jéssica witnesses his rage at losing FF.
Clara begs D8D not to have Camilo killed. D8D tells her that he is going to Colombia and Clara is coming with him.
Ringo and EV stop Sam’s car. EV drags FF out and asks why she betrayed him. He had been nice to her. FF begs him to kill her but spare the others.
The Reptile demands that Rosario tell her what she knows about Nora and her birth mother.
JM does not want to stay at Gus’ house but he finally agrees to go there when he has to leave his house. JM says that he has to find a job. Duval tells him that he can’t work and can’t leave the house because it is too dangerous. JM won’t accept that. If someone is going to kill him, so be it.
EV’s guys, led by Ringo, take Sam, Nora and Nic into a field with very tall plants and makes them kneel.
Back on the road, we hear automatic weapon fire. In LA, Willy gets a bad feeling.
EV tells FF that he won’t kill her; he just wants one kiss of love. She agrees and, of course, Miggy and NB (in a hat that looks more appropriate for 5th Avenue than the field they are walking through) are nearby for some reason. Miggy has binoculors and of course he sees FF kissing EV.
Great recap, Jean! Yes, the wackiness continues. And I didn't really see this as a new stage, either.
I'm not surprised, but it seems strange that Jessica would leave her friends, her school, her boyfriend and her mother to stay with her father. Sure, EV's nice to her, but she's all alone. And he's often out of the country. Is that really fun for a teenager?
It's always funny how they only do one secret revealed at a time. I'm almost sure Nora knows that Ofelia was Fernanda's mother, but we can't have two secrets come out at once.
What a wonderful guy D8D is. Not. He freely admits loving Sam, but he "owns" Clara, so she has to stay married to him. I remember back when Clara thought D8D was so wonderful. Well, she's had the blinders taken off. Eventually the same thing will happen to Jessica. Way back, lots of people thought the Reptile was good.
Fortunately, we in the audience know all the secrets before the cast members! This makes for a lot of yelling at the screen, though.
Thanks, Hombre, for your very entertaining recap.
One thing I noticed, when Pabon was talking to Peraza, Pabon asked about the head of Galán's security detail, Pereira. Peraza looked VERY suspicious when he said that Pereira had retired. They sure are hinting like mad that Peraza is dirty; but, of course, if he's in on it why would Pablo want to blow him up.
Chili is one scary psychopath. When he was talking to the guy on the phone who is so happy to have work again, he told him it would be the "job of his life" saying this with an evil grin. I think we know where this is going.
I can't resist putting this in. In the documentary "The Two Escobars" they show the real grown-up son of Pablo Escobar. He's a porky kind of guy who portrayed himself as an innocent victim of his father's crimes. He has changed his name and had some kind of decent administrative job in Colombia. In "Killing Pablo" his teenaged son was actively aiding and abetting his father's hiding from the police.
They showed this side of Emilio when he was in the car, calling the army guy "tombo", the not very nice way of describing a cop.
Thanks so much, Jean. You got it all!
I never thought it would happen, but Duval said a sensible thing last night. He told JM he needed to stop thinking about his male pride and think about his family instead (regarding moving into Gus' house).
Of course Nora, Sam and Nico are not dead. I wonder what happened that we did not see.
I actually thought they might get away, and we'd see EV coming after FF in LA. But I guess, as long as Miggy is in Colombia, she needs to be as well.
If Jessica ever finds out that her papí ordered Nico shot, that's it for THAT relationship.
"Gran Estreno of the Nuevo Etapa of the novela, it didn’t really seem like it." - Jean
That was more a ploy by Telemundo PR to try and steal the thunder from Univision who last night were premiering AMORES VERDADEROS opposite CV. It was funny watching the social media battle between Univision and Telemundo personnel each urging viewers to their programs, CV actors promising huge surprises. Telemundo must send out a memo to all their contract players because even people not on CV, like Ana Layevska, were tweeting followers to tune in to CV.
AMOR CAUTIVO
Telemundo is going to be premiering this Mexican telenovela from Azteca this Monday at 11am ET, I believe the first Azteca production the network has ever aired. It has to do with intrigue surrounding a kidnapping and stars Marimar Vega, Arap Bethke, Andrea Noli and Hector Bonilla.
It seems Azteca America has little interest in showing Azteca novelas (they usually only air one a year), so it's good that Telemundo will be picking up the slack.
Chili, Buitre and Candonga are in the airport, discussing the new kind of bomb (in the briefcase).
We start seeing various characters we met yesterday. It becomes clear these will be passengers on the plane. We see the father telling the 35 year old son, it's time for you to go on your own. You're going on a flight to Cali.
Pablo tells Kiko and Cain to go to Bogotá to help out Chili. Marino is assigned to go to Medellín to pick up Pablo's family. He can't stand being without them. But he has to get them out without the cops' being able to follow. As we know, Marino is pretty clever, should be able to do this.
The young light skinned black guy with the crewcut (I'll call him Tommy) arrives in Bogotá, is met by Chili, is super excited, keeps saying the boss, the king, Chili has to calm him down. He gives him a wad of cash. He says you're going to be a bodyguard for some politician. Tommy likes this.
A pizza is delivered to Paty. She thinks that's strange until she opens it and finds a note.
Kiko asks Cain, What about the metal detectors? Cain says the bomb is plastic.
Paty, Emilio and Daniela are whisked into the airport or some kind of station, then quickly out the side door, into SUV's. It appears they may have eluded the cops.
11/27/89 (not that date thing again!) We see the various families. There's a little girl and her father, she misses her Mom. There's a young couple who are going to get married in Cali, where her family is. She's overjoyed. The 35 year old guy is going to Cali for business.
Paty and the kids arrive at the ranch, and have a nice meal outside with Pablo. Pedro is there, he misses his family. Pedro and Pablo talk about the matters in Cali, in Bogotá, basically talking in code right in front of Paty (who knows what's going on) and the kids (who don't). Daniela still can't hear out of that one ear, doesn't think she ever will, even though Mommy says she will.
Kiko and Cain, both wearing white shirts and ties, approach the boarding guards, and guess what? They forgot their tickets (this is a ruse). They make a big commotion, and while the guard is distracted, Candonga and Tommy go right by.
We even see that Cesar Gaviria is going to Cali (but not on the same flight, I think).
Candonga is looking around, I think pretending to look for the politicians Tommy will be guarding. We see all the innocent, nice families I mentioned above, going to their seats, joyful and excited.
Tommy has never been on an airplane before. Candonga all of a sudden goes, darn! I forgot the money in another suitcase! Sorry, Tommy (he calls him Cuchito, maybe that's his name), I'll have to meet you in Cali. But boss, what should I do (he jostles the suitcase). You just keep that briefcase on your lap. And don't open it until you're in the air. What do I do, just press these buttons? (he almost opens it, drops it, and Candonga almost has a heart attack!). No, just keep it on your lap. Sure, boss, you can count on me, says Tommy, grinning.
The father and daughter put their suitcase in the overhead rack. Candonga frantically pushes through the people, finally getting off the plane. He, Kiko and Cain hail a taxi. He tells them, we'd better pray now.
Yes we should!!!!!!!!!!
thanks so much Hombre !!!
wow, Pablo must have wrote the book on terrorism,
since all of these guys were pilots, you would think they would use an altimeter for a detonator, (put the bomb on as baggage and when the plane reaches a certain height, boom), but Pablo uses a real person, this is just so hard for me to comprehend what kind of person Pablo really was.
We get to see a repeat of Miggy witnessing the kiss that destoys his hopes that FF still loves him. Of course, he can’t hear the audio: FF tells V that every day she hates him more. EV replies that every day he loves her more and he believes that her hate will turn to love. FF asks EV to tell her that he didn’t really kill Sam and her family. EV wants another kiss. Miggy, witnessing this, tells NB that he will kill EV.
The Reptile demands that Rosario tell her what she knows about Nora and her biological mother. Rosario replies that Nora only told her that the Reptile was not her biological child and she doesn’t know who her real mother is. The Reptile doesn’t believe this. Rosario says that she should ask D8D for this information.
JM tells Angie that he has worked all his life; he has a profession and he is not afraid of anyone.
Willy misses Sam.
Miggy returns to the gang’s hideout. He tells Gus and Camilo that it is true: FF and EV were kissing like adolescents.
FF tells EV that if he killed Sam, Nora and Nic, she will kill herself.
JM is going to stay at Gus’ house and Angie and the kids are going to Willy’s house. I’m not sure why.
Ringo reports to EV that he did as he was ordered and it is too about the “golden girl.”
FF tells EV that she wants to to go LA. EV correctly assumes that she wants to talk to dear old dad and tells her that D8D is on his way to Colombia and is expected to arrive the next day.
Clara is crying and tells D8D it is because she is thinking about how deceived she was about him. Why does he still want her around? D8D responds that he has become accustomed to coming home and having her in the kitchen or the bedroom. He tells her to forget about Camilo.
Miggy is handling his supposed rejection by FF in the usual way: he’s hitting the bottle. NB tells him not to let his rage consume him. Miggy replies that it doesn’t matter – he is already dead.
FF tries to shoot herself but the gun isn’t loaded. EV says that he will tell her what happened to Sam and her family.
Willy calls Angie at the airport in a panic. Sam did not arrive on the flight. But then we see that it was all a tease – Sam, Nic and Nora appear that there is a happy reunion.
Miggy is still suffering from the betrayal of FF. He asks NB what El Mesías would have done in his circumstances. No dummy, she tells him that El Mesías always said that only another woman puts out the fire of grief. Miggy instantly grabs NB and they have torrid sex. [I guess supposed betrayal exempts you from you avowals of eternal love, Miggy.]
EV tells FF about Ivonne and suggests that she will snare Miggy. [Does he know that Miggy is with NB?] FF denies that is possible. She says that she is sure that Miggy will come for her. This scene is intercut with scenes of Miggy and NB having sex.
Duval debriefs Sam to see if she has any useful information about EV’s stronghold. She says that she was blindfolded going and coming so she doesn’t know where it is. She does have opinions about the decorating scheme there. She says it is very old fashioned – it even has a dungeon. She also narrates a flashback showing how Ringo made her, Nora and Nic kneel and she thought that he was going to shoot them but then he fired into the air. [Wouldn’t this have been an extremely traumantic event for all of them but especially Nic? Everybody seems pretty much ok psychologically, though.]
JM is alone at Gus’. Cecilia comes over and agrees to help him set up a press conference.
FF is looking at her reflection in a hand mirror. She imagines that Miggy is reflected there and tells him that if he doesn’t love her, she has no reason to live.
Willy tells Nic that if Jéssica is his true love, he has to be patient and eventually they will be together just like he and Sam finally got together after overcoming many obstacles.
NB’s gang make an attack on the place where the second hoard of money is located. Miggy finds the phone of one of EV’s dead henchmen and calls EV. He says, “You didn’t kill me. Jesús Matamoros is alive.”
Nora starts the process of telling everyone that she is not the Reptile’s biological mother with Angie.
In a cute scene, Willy tells Sam that he wants to move to the country “el campo.” He dreams of of an idyllic life riding horses while Sam kneads (amasar) bread and takes care of their 7 children. Sam does not find this vision attractive.
It seems that Cecilia is interested in Duval. She could do a lot better than that but Duval is one of the few cast member not paired off. The media arrives for the press conference – at Gus’s house. So much for hiding out. If he’s not going to hide anymore, why can’t he go to Willy’s house with Angie.
FF finds the phone with the message from Miggy pretending to be EM. She calls. When Miggy realizes who it is, he says that he has nothing to say to EV’s woman.
D8D and Clara arrive at EV’s place.
Nora tells Willy about not being the Reptile’s mother.
The Reptile tries to strangle D8D and expresses her unhappiness at being illegitimate. She want to know who her real mother is. D8D replies that her mother was a prositute.
Sam tells Angie that she hates the idea of living in the country. She likes the city, she needs the action. She says that she has to get Willy to give up the idea.
Nic comes in and says that JM is on TV. We see JM talking to a reporter about his time with EV and the Reptile. He says that he won’t live likea coward.
It’s one month later. As the indication of the passage of time, we see a map of Colombia and and arial view of countryside with x’s on it. I thought maybe this was the authorities looking for EV’s hideout but it appears to be the site of raids or something by NB’s gang.
NB tells Miggy that she has heard that FF is sick.
FF is in bed. EV comes in and she asks him what the doctor said. “It’s a miracle,” says EV, “You’re pregnant.”
Clara and D8D are still in Colombia. Clara wants to know if Camilo is dead. D8D hits her. Clara retorts that he can hit her all he wants but she will love Camilo forever. D8D tells her that Camilo is dead and buried. Clara demands to see his grave.
It’s Sam turn to be overwhelmed with caring for the two babies alone. Willy turns up with Nic, both in cowboy hats and tells her that he has bought a farm.
JM is talking to the press when he gets a call from the Reptile. She says that she is in LA and ready to accept his challenge. We see that Angie is acting as his bodyguard.
Miggy is in a bar. Ringo comes in and offers drinks and food to everyone on the house – EV’s woman has a baby on the way.
Thanks for another great, funny recap, Jean.
I always chuckle when I see that Cecelia wears the exact same outfit, every day. Yes, it may be a work uniform, but does anyone actually have that these days? I like it, though.
Yes, the old double standard. Now Miggy has torrid sex, although FF isn't allowed to. Just as JM had sex with a number of women, while Angie had to remain chaste. Even though I'm a guy, I don't like that moral inconsistency.
Fortunately, very few characters get pregnant from "torrid sex" or sex without love, so it's unlikely NB is pregnant, which would really throw the story for a loop. Yes, "bad girls" (and maybe bad boys, too) usually know all about birth control, whereas our good, virginal characters are too swept away by romance to think about it.
Willy's cowboy thing is funny, but I thought he was into fast cars, planes, etc. Hopefully he'll get over this in a few days. His earnest, somewhat adorable character is SO far from what the actor played in other novelas, it really shows off his skills.
thanks so much Jean !!!
all three parts!
Miggy sure is morphing into a different person than the one we knew as the uncle that played with the little girls.
I'm confused over the Fernanda's mother thingy, I thought this came out, or at least was hinted at back when Ofelia died. Fernanda really has issues with anything about her family/personal life that wasn't normal/expected. Bernardo blurts out that her mom was a prostitute, and of course us/her/everyone believes him, how does he do that?
I also don't know why JM is alone, but it's a good thing, this guy and his ideas is a menace to whoever is around him. If he would quietly move to France and change his name to Pierre, it would just end this whole Fernanda thing, but he just keeps going back for more.
Cecilia is too much woman for Duval.
Interesting how the three banditos, Miggy/Gus/Camilo have their women close by, but not too close, and why is Camilo wearing dog tags?
Thanks, Jean, excellent recap with lots of humor.
Deb, pretty funny about JM becoming "Pierre". I can just see him with a beret in a sidewalk cafe sipping one of those tiny coffees.
I actually find Miggy's current behavior quite believable. He was a tough guy, former Mexican cop, embittered by what happened to Alejandra, his first love. He's sort of reverting to type, hardening his heart against love.
Something that Miggy and NB said made me think that those x marks on the map of Colombia meant that the Matamoros crew had regained properties that used to belong to them.
I'm really wondering if FF will have the slightest doubt that the baby could be Miggy's instead of EV's. Probably not.
It IS unusual that a hero of a novela kills people in cold blood. But I guess it's actually representational of wars between cartels, without the torture.
Someone commented that Fabiola keeps not telling Jessica what her father has done to her. This drives me crazy. It's waaaay too kind. He doesn't deserve the kid's devotion, so Fabiola should tell her the truth and maybe get her out of there.
Ew! D8D said to Clara that he liked her in his kitchen and his bed. This seems to imply she's having sex with him. Gah!
I guess we still think Ofelia is the bio mom. So D8D is mean enough to tell his daughter that her mother was a prostitute instead of the woman who loved her all her life? I suppose it could be that he doesn't want to admit he got it on with his half sister.
It's kind of funny the way they portray the male leads having sex with the wrong woman. Instead of tender, candlelit soft-core sex with the ones they love, they show it as pretty rough and animalistic.
Thanks Jean for the great recap.
Hombre, as for the double standards, EV and NB are not equal. EV is the one FF hates the most. He kidnapped and tortured FF and her amorcito. As for Angela, she was with Gus for a long time.
Didn't Jessica see Miggy in the wedding? Her old-Televisa-acting-style makes me dislike her more!
Well this novela has ended its rebroadcast and like before im sad to see it go.
When i saw una maid i recognized Tito and Yaya but i forgot Calixta had played the Fiscal(Think it was the curly hair). I liked Karina Moras acting a lot better in DEE. Poor Gisela never got Cris. Never saw La Casa De Al Lado but Porras (Mariano) and Siachoque (Cecilia) played a married couple.
Lastly i think Elisa was just a wh**e. Had she never planned a kidnapping i bet she wouldve grown up to be like he tia Ceci! Good novela. Will miss it.
Thanks so much, Hombre. "Tomorrow should be explosive!" Definitely black humor on your part, Hombre.
I can hardly stand to watch these evil guys Pablo sends on his "missions". I surely hope we'll get to see some justice for them.
The guy who was kicked out by his father was one of the oil workers in Flor Salvaje. He was also in Doña Bárbara. And the guy who played his father was a corrupt police officer in El Cartel.
They sure do make us feel for the folks who are going to be blown up by showing their back stories.
Novelaman
Loved this novela, but only saw the last 3.5 weeks. I would very much like to see it again. The ending for me was not what my romantic heart would want, but it seems that Dana made the right decision. I thought the chemistry between Dana and Cristobal was fabulous with mostly just looking at each other and talking. I noted that there was one scene where Mariano barged in on them.
Did they actually do the deed then or earlier in their relationship?
Thanks for the update.
Once again, thanks to all recappers for a terrific job as usual.
