Amores Verdaderos #33 Tue 12/25/12 Lots of confrontations end up being at kissing distance

Amores - CHRISTMAS 2012 (December 25, 2012) - Cap 33—Lots of confrontations end up being at kissing distance

Hey! It was Christmas day! So I'm late! This is going to be a very brief off-the-cuff recounting of this episode from memory. Will fill in blanks later. No screencaps yet. Maybe no HD screencaps at all. Too lazy. Too full of Christmas goodies.

BRIEF-ISH SUMMARY IN INCOHERENT STREAM-OF-CONSCIOUSNESS WRITING STYLE. Events may not be listed in order. They may have occurred in the previous episode. They may not have happened at all. Hey! It was CHRISTMAS!

* Vicki tells our puppy-dog eyed Angel that he's sacked. She's blubbering and in tears. She tries to make it as clear as possible that it is not his fault, but she can't explain it was because she painted this lovingly hottie (well, it would be if it weren't so atrociously done) painting of him. *gulp* He thinks it's because he overstepped in some way. "Just tell me what it was and I'll never do it again!" She keeps on saying that's not it. "I'll never see you again but I'll never forget you." They're both all getting verklempt. At one point Big Angel gets up nose-to-nose to Vicki (kissing close) but of course nothing happens.

* Salsero the sunglasses dude works on our watery-eyed porker (Nelson) to not let Big Angel go. Big Angel's a good bodyguard and it's not his fault that Vicki did the hideous painting of him! Cut the guy a break!

* The final straw is when Anibal hears about Vicki's painting. "You've always painted people. This is no big deal. I want Big Angel back!" Anibal later tells Big Angel that he is UNFIRED. This is the final word. Big Angel wants to know what was going on and why he was fired in the first place. "Don't go there" is the basic message from both Vicki and Anibal, who don't mention the hideous painting.

* Anibal delivers this news to Nelson-watery-pig-eyes. Pig-eyes can't refuse. When he tries to protest that Anibal is undermining him "in his own home," Anibal gets up close and personal and reminds Nelson-watery-pig-eyes that actually it is HIS HOME and Nelson is welcome, blah blah as long as he keeps Vicki happy and is faithful to her, blah blah. (Nelson: *gulp*) Anibal also says that Vicki has never given Nelson any reason to distrust her. And certainly, Vicki is too high class to cheat, especially with a servant! Por favor!

* The kitchen staff and Thomasina are all verklempt that Big Angel is leaving. They prepare a fab going-away cake for him. Big Angel is getting all misty at their love for him. The cake is awesome. He then delivers the great news: He is UNFIRED! Much rejoicing all around.

* Some crap between Kendra and Sunglasses Salsero. I can't even remember what it is now. More about their plotting and the thing with the sleazy kidnapper guy in prison?

* Big Angel calls his wife and wants to take her out for dinner. He seems really eager to see her, seems enthusiastic and loving. His stupid wife is snippy and snotty and basically throws cold water on all his well-meaning and loving good intentions. She hangs up on him. He is frustrated and upset. Lily overhears her mom's idiocy and advises mom (Christina) to straighten out and fly right. Dad shouldn't have to put up with this crap. I think Christina gets the message.

* Christina goes to visit Paula and wants a makeover to look fab. Paula is welcoming and eager and invites her in to her 'salon."

* Big Angel finds out that it was Nelson-watery-pig-eyes that was the one who wanted him sacked. Oh, Big Angel has a few words to say about that. He confronts He with the Watery Pig Eyes and wants to know what's up. He with the Watery Pig Eyes says he doesn't like Big Angel "near" his wife. Big Angel doesn't get it--he has to be near her to protect her! "Well, there's 'near' and then there's 'too near'" Piggy-watery-eyes explains. Big Angel gets up close and says that Vicki (AND him, Big Angel) differ from Mr. Piggy-watery-eyes, and that is, THEY (Vicki and Big Angel) respect marriage vows and that Vicki (unlike Watery-Piggy eyes) is faithful. All this is happening under the watchful eye of Anibal, unbeknownst to Big Angel and Watery-Pig-Eyes. Mr. Watery-Piggy-Eyes dismissively says "What I do with other women is none of your business." (Uh oh, busted!) Big Angel knows what is and is not his business, he's just saying.

* As soon as Big Angel has finished his stink-eyed in-your-face exchange with Mr. Piggy-Eyes, Anibal comes down to clear a few things up with Mr. Piggy Eyes. Whatever he does, Piggy Eyes is NOT to hurt Vicki. He "understands," as a man, some things, as long as Vicki is unhurt. (I am a little unsure here, but I think that Anibal is willing to turn a blind eye to indiscretion as long as Vicki is never finds out and is hurt? I need some clarification here. I was fully expecting for Anibal to castrate Piggy-Eyes with a dull spoon right on the foyer floor for what he heard, but in a way it's consistent with Anibal's piggy caveman attitude to not mind if his daughter is cheated on, as long as she doesn't know about it, because after all, men will be men?) Anyway, Anibal gets to the threatening of castration with a dull spoon part, IF Mr. Watery-Piggy Eyes does actually hurt Vicki. "I can be a very bad enemy" (or something like that) Anibal says, getting kissing-close with Piggy-Eyes. Nelson's been getting his share of stink eye today.

* Nikki's slutty little ball of crazy friend visits again, makes a few snarky remarks about the horrible hairdo she got from Nikky yesterday, then proceeds to stalk Guzmancito. There's this awkward scene between Guzmancito, Nikki and Slutty Friend. They smell the perfume of his friend (whom he met at the museum?) or anyway, they smell flowers on him. They want to know if it's from a girlfriend? I forget. Anyway, he's had enough of their bull and leaves the area. What? Is he just a piece of tantalizing man-candy to them? Yes I think he is.

* Slutty ball-of-crazy friend knows no boundaries and therefore wanders into Guzmancito's room. Starts rummaging through his things. Sees a bunch of personal papers. We are able to see them pretty well in HD. I may have to do HD screenshots of them, as they're pretty interesting (and hilariously pathetic). Some certification diplomas, crap like that, in bad English (the wording seems wrong to me, like someone ran the text through Google Translate). Some training certificates he got in the USA for bodyguard-related things. One of them said he graduated in 1980? (I'm certain of that. Freeze frame does not lie.) Wouldn't he be about 8 years old then or something? Clearly the producers assume we don't have HD? But they shoot in HD? What. ever. Anyway, the real kicker is a marriage certificate, issued in Nevada, in about 2004 I think. Uh oh! Our Guzmancito is a married man!  Slutty ball-of-crazy friend is impactada, as is Viewerville.

* Beatriz is doing well with her kid at Christina's house. I missed a lot of this, I am sorry. Guzmancito comes to visit. (Was this in the 25th's episode or the 24th's? I am doing a stream-of-consciousness recap here, I am sorry.) Anyway, something happens. Blah blah blah. And somewhere in this episode (or was it yesterday's?) Guzmancito talks about going on his "date" with Polita. I really want to see how that works out! Because I love Polita.

* Guzmancito is working out and showing us glimpses of his moderately hairy chest as Nikki is playing up to the other bodyguard guy (can't remember his name). She flatters him. She wants him to help her learn self-defense. They are doing some training (involving some sort of boxing moves, whatever) on a padded mat. Other bodyguard thinks she's doing okay. Guzmancito walks to pass by and Nikki (whose only reason for being there in the first place is to get his attention) asks him to 'test' her to see how well she's doing with her self-defense or whatever. He obliges, whipping her skinny little ass (all in professional manner, of course) and deftly avoiding her attempts to hit him. He pins her to the ground and it's kinda getting hot hot hot there. Nose to nose, kissing distance. We get a lot of that in this episode.

AVANCES: Smoochies occur between Guzmancito and Nikki. Must see TV!

Elvira, thanks so much amiga for this really fab recap. Wonderful, love the stream of consciousness.

The other bodyguard's name is Zambrano. I have been trying to think of a nickname for this guy and the snotty girlfriend of Nikki's is Nabila. I been tryin' to think of a nick for her too.

So Guzmancito is married, shock and awe, jus' sayin', did not see that coming. I wonder if it was that lady he met in the museum by accident. I think her name was Karla, not sure. I bet Nabila will tell Nikki just to get back at her.

I like how the Angel confronted ole Piggy watery eyes, lol. Love that name for him. Too funny. I was lol. I am glad Anibal overheard that convo too. Angel would never tell Ms Vikki about Mr Piggy eyes indiscretions, I hope Mr Piggy eyes outs himself.

I liked how the Angel talked to Dances about knowing everything that goes on in that house and the Balvanera's lives and how he didn't beleive Sunglasses, but not knowing why he was being fired. And he wasn't wearing his Sunglasses either. Who knew.

Loved what Tomasina, Polita and Jean Marie did for the Angel with the cake, lol. Like how he took a piece of cake and then told them he was UNFIRED, lol. I liked the hug Tomasina and Polita gave the Angel and the half man hug Angel gave to Jean Marie.

Like how Jean Marie always calls Guzmancito, Guzman, Francisco lol.

Love how Lili gave Chris what for about the Angel. Angel will really tire of all this "you are fooling around" talk. It's surprising that Cris went to Paula for a make over, and then again why Paula is helping her, she wanted to get rid of her so much in the beginning.

Bea was helping Guillo with homework, he wanted to use Guzmancito's phone to use the calculator to do his addition problems but Guzmancito told him no, that would be cheating and to do his sums on his own. And yes, he talked about his date with Polita but it was for later in the day/evening. I too can't wait for them to go on this "date" it ought to be a hoot.

Kendra slipped Mr Piggy eyes a ruffie too, which begs the question is this another PSA about ruffies or what? She is trying to make sure that he doesn't show for this event he needs to go to with Ms Vikki, I also noticed what looked like a camera lens in her apartment. I wonder if she is taping there fur chested encounters and is possibly going to blackmail Nell-son or send them to Vikki without Nell-son knowing she did this.

Elvira - Thanks for all the highlights. Nice reliving this fun episode with your recap.

Anibal was the hero last night. Loved him socking it to Nelson, reminding him it's his (Anibal's) house, Nelson has only 20% of the company, and he'd better never hurt Vickie or he turned into his worst enemy. Funny Anibal thinks Vickie would never go with a servant - I guess he doesn't classify Cris' mom as a servant.

Cris turning down Angel's invite to go out on a date alone was boneheaded. Why spend time alone with Angel, when she could stay home and have another nightmare of him making out with Vickie.

Also, Nikki asked Jean Marie for something hearty to eat (don't remember what) but then nixxed the food when Nabila bragged about losing a few pounds.

Lili was angling to go out somewhere sometime with Guzman. When he mentioned the date with Polita, Cris seemed to be trying to nudge Lili to nudge Guzman to make it a group date.

Great recap Elvira, Christmas and all. I'm surprised that Univision kept their regular schedule.
Not much to add except for a few brief comments.

Yes, Nelson got the stink eye last night---LOL The way that he's been playing with KendHo, he should talk about Vikki. QUE????

Yes, I guess to many of the opposite sex, the Guzmancito is a tantalizing piece of man candy.

Nabila, slutty ball of crazy---great title for her.

Guzmancito married! How interesting

Elvira, your last section about Nikki and Guzmancito working out was a real winner. All those Christmas goodies didn't slow you down much at all.

Yes Madelaine, it looks like KendHo is up to something, I guess we will just have to stay tuned to find out what it is.
the gringo

Ya know if the Angel and Ms Vikki keep getting in these close clinches I am afraid there will be an accidental kiss one of those times.

Elvira - Thank you for the recap. I have not watched this telenovela in something like a week (or it seems like it) and apparently not a lot has happened. I have to admit that I'm getting a little bored with it already.

I'm not surprised that Anibal is willing to turn a blind eye to Nelson's adultery. After all, Anibal always had someone on the side when he was married to Vikki's mother.

Muchas gracias, Elvira. There's nothing wrong with your memory or your stream of consciousness.

How about Nubile Nabila, or maybe Nympho Nabila?

It would be even funnier if Jean Marie spoke the comma: Guzman comma Francisco. Nope didn't see the marriage coming, but maybe there are divorce papers somewhere. He's sweet to take Polita out. I think they'll have a good time. The girl he met in the art gallery was someone from so long ago that at first he didn't recognize her. I think he was worried at first that she was coming on to him, reminding him of their way-in-the-past relationship, but when she told him she had a partner and they were trying for a baby, he relaxed. So I don't think that's his wifey-pooh.

Guz does seem to attract and be attracted by females, so let's hope he (or she) did the right thing and he's free to love. Will Nikki kiss him back, or did she initiate it--I wasn't watching the avances.

Mads--If (more like When) Ms. Vikki and Big Angel do kiss, even accidentally, they will both be so embarassed and apologetic (but as in so many other tns, los ojos no mienten), and uncomfortable. We'll have to wait and see how they handle the post-kiss situation.

Doris, please don't give up on this TN. It is moving quickly, beleive it or not, and there is so much yet to be discovered, bit by bit.

Anita-I think the kiss with Guzmancito and Nikki was mutual. That's the way it looked in the advances, but I want to know what she was doing in the shower, in the bodyguard's quarters, that didn't look like Nikki's bathroom.

Anita- thanks also about where Guzmancito got married and that it wasn't Karla. So this must have been a Vegas or Reno wedding, I think there are possibly divorce papers somewhere too. I can't see Guzmancito not doing the right thing and hooking up with another woman while still married. It doesn't fit him.

I think you are right too, about the accidental kiss if there is one. The way this budding relationship is going, I think they really will kiss when and or if they ever seperate from their spouses.

Chris drives me crazy with the jealousy. She is very pretty and shouldn't have to worry about her man looking elsewhere. I guess she thinks since Ms Vikki has all this dinero, that that attracts the Angel when in fact that isn't the case at all. Like how Angel and Ms. Vikki have this fab friendship going, but will lead to more misunderstandings by Chris and Nell-son.

I want Candelaria to show up. This would put a major monkey wrench in Pau-whiners plans that's for sure. And what about Adriana? We haven't seen her in awhile. I know she is still searching for her daughter.

Oh,and Nell-son thinking that Angel is some type of country bumpkin really sets me off too. Angel has been to college for agronomy and if his parents hadn't gotten sick he would have gotten his degree. Nell-son is one of those the help are idiots. Chaps my butt that. I like how Ms Vikki treats the staff like family and Anibal does too, as does Vikki, surprisingly. Nell-son needs a swift kick with a pointy toed boot up his butt, or that cast iron frying pan upside the head, jus' sayin', lol.

I meant Nikki not the double Vikki, lol.

Thank you for the recap, Elvira! And Merry Christmas! :)

The names Piggy-watery eyes and Slutty ball-of-crazy friend are hilarious.

And I absolutely loved these lines:

"Big Angel gets up close and says that Vicki (AND him, Big Angel) differ from Mr. Piggy-watery-eyes, and that is, THEY (Vicki and Big Angel) respect marriage vows and that Vicki (unlike Watery-Piggy eyes) is faithful"

"I was fully expecting for Anibal to castrate Piggy-Eyes with a dull spoon right on the foyer floor for what he heard"

Thanks so much Elvira. This was a perfect recap. Great "near kiss" theme. I just watched my recording, and loved that last scene with Guzman and Niki. They seem to be forgetting that Zombrano is right there. :)

I really enjoyed watching both Anibal and JA get in Nelson's face. It was interesting to learn that Anibal gave Nelson the 20% share in the company upon his marriage to Vicky all those years ago. He really came into the marriage with nothing to offer. The least he could do is be a faithful husband. The jerk!

Ya know, JA and Guzman really don't know how to spend their days off. They get like one day off a week, and they spend most of it hanging out at the home of their employment instead of going off to hang out with their family all day or to do something fun. And Cris is a fool to shut down JA like that for no reason.

My prediction-- since Salsero is with Nelson, who is out cold on Kendra's couch, Vicky will now HAVE to bring JA with her to the big event that evening. They'll probably be heading out looking all fancy, just as Cris is arriving, all dolled up by Paula, to appologize. This will cause yet another jealous blow-up. This is just a guess, but it's what I see coming.

For the first time in a long time, a product placement prompted me to buy the product. I bought caramel flavored Bailey's and brought to to my parents' house for Christmas. We had delicious hot chocolate with Bailey's. Yum! :)

My two cents on the show:

This is a Nicandro Díaz telenovela. They are famous for three things:
1. On the technical side they are definitely very, very, very well done. The music, the props, the houses, the indoor and outdoor scenes and the clothes are always fantastic.

2. They have good, veteran actors and likeable characters.

3. But storywise they are BORING AND SLOW AS HELL. Why? Because the (actually good and interesting) original scripts are extended to the very extreme.

His previous three primetime shows, aka Destilando amor, Manana es para siempre or Soy tu duena were nothing more but a bunch of pretty snoozefests with hot guys, strong, charismatic leading ladies and mucho melodrama. People watched them because they liked the actors and the characters, and because they provided a nice, friendly escape from reality.

I surely wouldn't be interested in this show if someone else was the protagonist, and I fastforward the uninteresting scenes and rely on the recaps. But I really, really like the humor and the characters, and of course the best part is talking about the show here and on FB. :)

Thanks for the recap Elvira. Really a good job from memory.

However, I have to question your assessment of the painting. The painting is not finished. It's in process, and ALL paintings look hideous when they're in process. Let's see how it looks when Vicki has finished it---if that ever happens.

Anibal is absolutely communicating to Nill-son that it's fine to screw around because "real men do," but just make sure you don't hurt my daughter. After all, look who's talking. To me his message is a no brainer.

And what is more repulsive than Nill-son's hairy chest and his pig eyes? That would be his sweat which we had plenty of last night. Looks like the ruffie that Kendra-Ho slipped him will knock him on his butt for hours, and he'll be standing up Vicki yet again as a result of his sluttery.

I see what you mean, Aribeth. I don't mind the slow pace. It's fun. I'm in love with so many of the characters, that it's nice to hang out with them, if you know what I mean!

Thank you Madelaine and everyone else for filling in blanks. I'm burned out and tired and haven't got the strength to fill in right now. Hopefully soon? But if not, you've done it all! You guys are all amazing.

I took a peek at tonight's episode. It's definitely must-see TV. I hope it's not a spoiler to say I laughed out loud several times. You'll know when you see.

Anon at 3:42, the painting is bad because the anatomy is way off. (Big Angel's body bigger than his head, by a lot. I understand the "rule" to make the head smaller in a painting than in real life—there's the "heroic" standard of 8 heads high, or even 9 heads, but this is ridiculous! It's not just too small, it's the body is too big and wide. The anatomy in the arms are freakish. Really bizarre. It's just bad! But TV art often is. They really have no clue and assume that most of the viewers don't either!

But at least the likeness on Big Angel isn't too awful. It does look like him. It's mostly the body that I have a problem with.

Yes, the problem with the painting is that the anatomy is totally screwed up. The head/face is quite good, it looks like him, but the body reminds me of those statues that were sculpted in the socialist-realist era.

But I guess the crazy body proportions are considered "high ahhhht". :)

Some artists can pull of a small head/huge body (I've been looking at a lot of Frank Frazetta lately). But this artist is not up to the task. Even half-finished, you can tell when the underpinning of a painting (the drawing) is out of whack or not. This one is totally whacked. (It's not like I have a strong opinion or anything, no not me! LOL.)

I'll bet the painting is bad on purpose, so that we viewers will not forget it. Like looking at a train wreck. LOL

Merry Christmas every one! Thank you Elvira for the recap. Aribeth your explanation of N. Diaz's style of producing was very timely. Thank you. I was wondering why they were spending so much time on Arriaga's wife jealousy, which is getting old. Niki's binges and purges. Disturbing to watch by the way and paula's tantrums. The old guy didn't ask her to sacrifice her kids. Who does that? No wonder he doesn't want to commit. Let me tell you, It was getting pretty boring. This TN has all my favorite stars, I am going to hang in there. Poor Arriagah, hope things look up soon.
He deserves some peace.

Olive

CLARIFICATION NEEDED:

I dislike the character of Nell-son as much as anyone, and I don't care for the actor's looks, but isn't it against Caray rules to talk against the actors personally. I would think the way this actor looks is beyond his control, and it seems cruel to label him "watery-piggy eyes" for something he cannot change as part of his personal life. He did not choose to look this way to play the role, and it seems unkind to me to give him such a
nickname.

We don't know that the watery piggy eyes are part of his real life "look" or not. It's sometimes hard to distinguish a personal trait of a character from a trait that the actor/actress possesses. I call Nikki "skinny" too, which could be negative, but is part of her character. If Nelson were a nicer guy, his eyes (however they looked) probably wouldn't be viewed in the same way. Neither would his chest hair, lol.

Guillermo Capetillo isn't a bad looking man (and he was very hot when he was younger), and if he played a likeable guy, I'm sure he would be everyone's favourite furry-chested teddy bear. The same goes for the eyes: Nelson has a greedy, snob, narcissistic look, but when the actor isn't in character, he seems to have nice, smiling eyes.

Aribeth: Exactly. If I look at the actor's eyes objectively, he's just another guy and not at all bad-looking. If I look at him as "Nelson," he has piggy eyes. I imagine that if Big Ed were playing a detestable character, his eyes could take on a piggy quality as well.

I could also imagine an actress could have the same figure in two roles, and in one she'd be "voluptuous" (if she was playing a sexy, positive character) and in another role she could be "fat and slovenly" (if she was dressed that way and played that type of character). A thin actress could be "lithe and slender" in one part, and "pinched and bony" in another role, because of the type of character she plays. And so forth and so on! :)
