Amor Bravío #86 (Uni 81) Tue 12/18/12 Duende hits the spa!

Bravio #86  Tuesday 12/18/12  Duende hits the spa!

Camila reenters the boudoir, wearing only one of Daniel’s shirts.  “Guau!” he says, “That shirt definitely looks better on you!”  She playfully says that’s because everything about him fits her very well.  He then suggests his medal will definitely fit better on her as well.  He explains this medal has accompanied him since he arrived in Mexico.  It’s very special to him and now he wants it to accompany her.  He wants to remember this moment forever, knowing that she freely loves him and wants to be with him. Since he has no ring, he wants to give her this medal as a symbol of his love and his commitment to her for the rest of his life.  He gets down on one knee……..and then asks, “Te quieres casar con migo?”  (my heart flutters, Ay Papacito, of course!)  They stare into each other’s eyes and she gets a little smirk on her face.  He asks her not to laugh and she bursts out laughing and tells him of course she wants to spend the rest of her life with him, obvio!  They smooch and he swoops her off her feet.  She warns him he could hurt himself to which he replies, “I won’t hurt myself because nothing about you can hurt me.  On the contrary, it only makes me stronger.  It makes everything possible.  It makes me want to live, makes me happy, makes me laugh, you fill me….sigh….everything!”  Cam:  “I know it’s been very difficult for us to be together”  Daniel:  “oof!”  Cam:  “Oof! I would shed every tear again in order to be here in your arms forever.”  Daniel:  “You’re now in my arms and you’ll never have to cry again.”  They repeat how happy they make each other.  We now go into slow mo as they head over to the bed…..and well, we fade out to give them some alone time.

Amanda’s Hostal
Dion still has Amanda by the throat!  She begs him to let her go.  He doesn’t and reminds her that he warned her she would never be able to get away (alejar) from him – nunca!  She pleads with Hector, or Dionicio or whatever he calls himself!  He sets her straight. It Dionicio Ferrer and she’d better not forget it!  He knows about her visit to the real estate office in Metepec! He asks if she was planning to sell this place and flee once again?  Well, no!  He finally releases her, pushing her away as he does.  He knows every move she makes and he warns her she will not take his daughter, Natalia, away again.  If she does, he swears she’ll regret it!  He grabs her by the throat again telling her no one, and he means no one, deceives him.  Surely not a woman as insignificant as she.  She’s the mother of his child and because of that she’ll never be free of him.  He shoves her aside again and finally leaves.  That is one mean hombre!

Speaking of Natalia…..
She’s waiting at a corner when Yago drives up.  He walks up to her as though he hasn’t ripped her heart out and says he’s missed her muchísimo.  She turns her face when he tries to kiss her and he can’t imagine why.  She reminds him that he denied her and their relationship.  Does he think that’s no big deal?  He starts the old song and dance about it not being the right time, yada, yada.  He explains everyone is going crazy at his place because of this mess with Pablo. Natalia had assumed they had accepted Luzma.  That’s what he thought but he was wrong.  In fact, Pablo even had to move out.  This backfires on him because she sees this as Pablo having the b*lls to stand up to everyone and give Luzma her rightful place by his side.  Even Mariano is on their side.   He might have even helped them (Natalia and Yago).  Yago claims to have considered telling Mariano (I call bs) but Mariano doesn’t believe Yago really cares for Natalia and Yago doesn’t want Mariano to be all up in his business.  She tearfully admits no one believes he’s sincere about her.  Yago doesn’t care what anyone else thinks.  He only cares about what she thinks. Does she not think his intentions are honorable, mi amor?  She doesn’t know what to think anymore.  He seizes this chance to tell her that he does care for her.  He only asks for some time.  After Pablo gets married, his parents will eventually realize the error of their ways.  And then they can tell them about their relationship.  They won’t want to lose two sons at once.  Truly, it will be for the best.  Natalia wonders if he would be willing to go up against his parents for her.  Of course he says yes.  (RED FLAG, RED FLAG, even a car alarm is going off somewhere in the distance as if to warn her:  MENTIROSO! PATAN!)  He promises to do anything to avoid losing her.  He begs her forgiveness.  He just didn’t know how to handle it but he now knows he wants to be with her for-ev-er.  He kisses her……and she kisses him back.  Aw, man, Natalia – you were soooo close!

MQ Kitchen
Pablo and Luzma are in the kitchen and Piedad walks in.  Pablo is very respectful toward Piedad, explaining that Luzma’s told him about her father and their visit to the delegación.  Piedad agrees it’s been a rough few days but she’s sure that’s not what Pablo came to see her about.  He asks her not to address him in formal tense of usted.  He’s a worker here like everyone else and soon he’ll be her son-in-law (yerno).  He explains his parents will be here tomorrow and by then he wants to be formally engaged to Luzma.  He asks for Luzma’s hand to marry her, como Diós manda.  Piedad knows how much Luzma loves him and he her.  She’s grateful he gives Luzma her rightful place before his parents and the whole world.   Pablo turns to Luzma and formally asks her to marry him.  Obvio!  She throws her arms around him, they kiss, and Piedad cries.  Pablo swears to her that he will care for her and love her always.  Piedad cries as she remembers how Fidencio asked for her hand in much the same manner.  She thinks of how differently their lives might have been if he had lived.  Pablo takes Piedad’s hand and promises them that no one will harm them as long as he’s around. Que galán!  Piedad rushes out to give Hipolito a sack lunch for his trip up north.

Outside, Piedad tells Hipolito about the proposal and then bids him adios.  He hesitantly asks if he can come by now and then to visit her, and Luzma.  Piedad agrees.  He clumsily shakes her hand and says he’ll be back to see them soon.

Buenaventura
Mariano speaks to Ana and Roman.  He explains Padre Anselmo has a place that he oversees and  Roman can stay there while DIF reviews his case.  Roman is sad and Ana explains they had hoped they could be together, like a family.  Roman thinks that’s just a dream.  Mariano says sometimes dreams come true.  He might be able to surprise them and one day they may be all together.  But that’s a secret he’s not ready to reveal.  They must be patient.  He promises he will do what he can to make it happen soon.  He promises Ana she can see Roman whenever she wants.  He announces that Roman can stay until after the fiesta at La Malquerida.  The kiddies go off to bed and Mariano looks at the heart charm he bought.  Speaking to himself, he says, “If you accept me, Camila, we can soon form a family.”  Cuckoo!

Vivi’s
Cam and Dan are in bed.  Cam is apparently asleep and Dan watches over her.  He flashes back to their first meeting, the day he first came to MQ, the day at the pond and his wet skivvies (oof!), their first kiss, the day they professed their love for each other, their first romantic evening together and much, much, more.   We come back to the present and Camila wakes up.  They share some pillow talk and he asks her to find her way back every night so they can be together.  She can’t see how, without being discovered.  He wants to sleep with her and wake up with her; he wants to be with her always.  She tells him that even when she’s not with him, she’s with him, no?   He’s with her always, truly.  Daniel: Que ******* como que me habla ***   She tells him she has to leave but he protests and begins kissing her and asks her again to come back tonight to sleep with him.  He makes a cute face then kisses her again and then we must leave them again.  Sigh

Duende gets first aid!  They’re treating the wounds that he received in the bullring most likely from the banderilleros and the picador.  They clean off his wounds and then inject something (antibiotics?).   Salud!  We have to raise our copas for this poor animal.

Vivi’s place
Viv, Rafa, and Aaron talk about the fiesta de indulto when the happy couple makes their appearance.   They get some friendly teasing.  Daniel says they have some good news to share.  Camila proudly shows off her newly acquired medal.  The friends don’t get it until she explains Daniel didn’t have a ring and so he used the medalla to ask her to marry him!  Yay, yay, yay!  The room erupts in cheers.

Malquerida
Similar celebrating is taking place for Pablo and Luzma as they announce their engagement to the rest of the employees.  Pablo explains the wedding will take place at MQ and they’re all invited!  Piedad breaks up the party and reminds everyone they have to prepare for the fiesta.  Everyone gets to work setting up the tables, breaking out the botellas, etc.  Pablo and Luzma are working on a poster.  She tells him she’s nervous cuz she knows his parents will be there.  He tells her not to worry. They have to get used to the fact that she will be his wife.  She’s happy they’ll finally be able to celebrate at a fiesta together, and as an engaged (comprometidos) couple!  He promises this will be the first of many fiestas.  His parents don’t know that he’s given her the ring.  Only Mariano knows.  Luzma’s happy he’s on their side.

Dorotea and her new beau (name?) talk about their budding romance.  She tells him she’s still thinking about it.  He wonders if she expects a ring in order to be his novia.  “Not a bad idea, eh?”, she responds and then runs off.  Someone comes in to tell him that Yago has called to say that Duende is on his way.  He turns to Rodolfo and jibes him, wondering if Yago will give him a hard time.  Rodolfo’s not concerned and he’s promised la patrona there won’t be any problems.

Camila returns only to be approached by Alonso.  He tells her he waited for her all night to see if she had spoken with Daniel.  She tells him Daniel agreed to help with getting an attorney to get Alonso the protection (amparo) he’s seeking.  Alonso doesn’t think that will help.  He needs help in paying off the penalty.  Camila wonders where he thinks they’ll get that much money.  Besides, until he provides them with proof of his innocence, how are they to do that?  Alonso says they’re all he has, they can’t do this to him.  She reminds him he’s at fault here, not them.  She suggests he work on getting that proof.  For now, she’s busy and has to run.  Alonso is soooooo unhappy.

Inside, Hissadora is making sure Ximena arranged everything with Bruno.  Xi is very nervous about all this and Hissadora doesn’t see why.  Clearly, Xi could care less what happens to Camila and her brother (Daniel).  Xi just doesn’t want to end up running like she did from Monterrey.  She can’t imagine having to set foot in jail.  Hissadora tells her there’s nothing to worry about.  Very soon, they will be enjoying the life they deserve. (Don’t worry Hiss, ACME Anvil Works is filling out your order as we speak!)  They smile their wicked Kimodo smiles.

Back in town
Vivi is at a flower stand.  The florist is making suggestions:  claveles (carnations) rosas (roses) lilies (uh, lilies) and alcatrazes (cala lilies).  Bruno appears out of nowhere to recommend the alcatrazes because those are his mujer’s favorite.  The nerve!  Vivi ignores him except to say it would be best if he’d forget what her favorite flowers are.   He follows her and says that would be difficult since he still loves her.  He grabs her arm and she pushes him off and tells him to leave her alone.   Doesn’t he realize that everything between them is soooo over?  He tells her he’s sincere and he still loves her and wants her to give him another chance.  She says that while he may love her, in his own way, she is no longer interested in his love.  (atta girl!)  She’s told him a thousand times.  She’s pleaded and begged him to leave her alone but apparently he won’t understand until it finally hits him (te cay el veinte) that he no longer means anything to her.   In her heart, she no longer feels anything for him.  She loved him once then she hated him with all her might.  Then she feared him.  But now, and she amazes even herself to say it, he doesn’t even provoke fear in her.   He doesn’t believe her but she tells him it’s true.  She no longer feels anything for him.  He managed to control her through fear.  She was so frightened she was paralyzed and couldn’t breathe.  But he went too far, getting into her home over and over and hurting the people she loves.  Then she realized living in fear isn’t living.  She was trapped by something that isn’t even real. He tells her he’s very real and can really hurt her.  But he can also be really good for her.  The choice is hers.  Today, he can give her the life he couldn’t give her before.  He asks her to leave with him.  They can start from zero.  She tells him it’s too late.  Like the true brute that he is, he tells her not to make him come after her again. (yeah cuz his actions are her fault).  She tells him to do as he likes because she doesn’t care anymore.  She’s just realized she will no longer allow him to hurt her.  She’s the one in control, not him!  It’s over, dude.  She tells him to keep the flowers along with the few good moments they had together.  Adiós, Bruno!  She leaves him in her dust!

La Malquerida
Camila greets the Albarrans as they arrive for the fiesta.  (her outfit is horrid – what is that, a denim corset?)  Ana explains Roman will be staying with the padre.  Agustina, Dionicio, and Hissadora walk up.  They make small talk and Hissadora makes it a point to greet Cayetano.  He introduces Rocio to Hissadora who flashes back to that photo of Don Daniel and that woman, hmmmm.  Rocio mentions she didn’t realize they knew each other.  Cayetano mumbles something about having met her one of the times he came to visit.  He turns to Agustina, a little too quickly if you ask me, and says it’s been a long time.  She introduces the hubby and they shake hands.  Introductions are made all around.  Cam takes the kids, Mariano, and Iliana to see Duende and everyone else heads inside.  Hissadora stays behind and thought bubbles about Rocio being one of the many loves of Don Daniel.  Guau!   There’s no doubt today is her lucky day.  Not only will she end up with La Malquerida, but it looks like Buenaventura will surely end up hers as well. “Oh well, Rocio, your husband will have to know about your infidelity, what a shame!”

Vivi’s Place
Viv comes in all smiles.  She tells Rafa she gave the flowers to the past, then explains she gave them to Bruno along with her fear.  She’s finally been able to say adiós to Bruno!  She explains their encounter and how she finally freed herself from him.  Rafa is very happy for her and picks her up and twirls her around.  They look into each other’s eyes and end up kissing.  Aaron was in the dining room but sneaks out to give them privacy.  He doesn’t witness Vivi’s confusion.  She doesn’t know what’s just happened.  Rafa tries to explain things have been changing at least for him. Vivi apparently doesn’t feel the same way, saying they’re just friends!  She heads for her room.

La Malquerida
Hissadora continues to play host to Cayetano and Rocio.  Dionicio and Agustina are also there.  Hissadora gets up to get another bottle of Whisky but Dionicio graciously offers to go instead.  After he leaves Rocio announces she wants to go look for Pablo – and she suggests Cayetano come with her (hey, she ain’t no fool)  He wonders why the rush is and she insists.  Agustina explains she’ll go check on their lodgings while they’re gone.  As they leave, Hissadora says she’ll take this opportunity to go tell Dionicio that the tequila has also run low.  Agustina gives her a dirty look but doesn’t follow her.

Hissadora joins Dionicio in the barroom.  He wants to know what she’s cooking up with the old guy.  She can’t believe he hasn’t figured it out.  Dionicio picks up very quickly, ohhhh!  He can’t believe it.  Hissadora gives him her best Cheshire Cat smile and points out how Cayetano drools (babear) over her.  Dionicio also sees how his wife controls him and suggests Hissie shouldn’t be so sure of herself!  Hissie explains that Cayetano’s ranch is worth as much as La Malquerida and she knows a secret that is worth acres in gold.  He asks if she’s sure and she assures him he’ll see.  He enjoys woman like her.  They clutch in a devil/kimodo embrace and are sucking face when Ximena walks in on them!!!  “Am I interrupting something?”  Neither Diablo or Kimodo seem concerned.  “How is it possible you two can be deceiving my mother in this manner?”  She turns to leave but Dionicio calls her back.  “What for?  Are you going to deny what is very obvious?  That you and Hissie are having an affair, or whatever you call this?”  Hissadora speaks now, “Who are you to judge us? No, no, no, don’t put on the purity act (baños de pureza)  (pow!)  Did you forget how you got involved with your brother-in-law before they were divorced?”(and the hits keep on coming!)  Ximena tries in vain to say this is different, this involves her mother!  “Your sister, too!” says Hissie.  “You got into bed with her husband!  It’s best you keep your mouth shut, you look much prettier that way.”   Ximena says she never should’ve confided in her and again turns to leave but this time Hissadora grabs her by the arm.  “What you saw between me and Dionicio is not important, and no one should know it.  Is that clear? “  Ximena is frozen.  “I asked you if it is clear to you!!  Because we all have secrets, mi amor.  And if secrets are known, they should all be known!”  Ximena gets the gist and agrees it’s very clear to her.  She looks over to Dionicio and tells him her mother asks that he not forget the apéritifs (digestivos) and he should be happy Agustina didn’t discover them.  She finally leaves.  Hissadora tells Dionicio not to worry.  Xi isn’t going to say anything.  Dionicio wonders what she has over Ximena to keep her under control.  Hissadora assures him it’s enough to keep her from talking.  Everything is under control.  She leaves the room and he follows after her, asking if she’s completely sure.  She assures him she is and gives him a peck before she rushes off, tequila in hand.  Dion goes back into the barroom and we see FX laughing at them!  He saw them kiss!

Bullring – Duende’s prancing around Salud?  Everyone’s yakking about the poster Luzma and Pablo made welcoming Duende when Ana loudly asks if that’s the novia her grandmother doesn’t like.  Mariano and Yago try to shush her but Luzma says, “no worry, she just wantehed to know.”  She admits she’s Pablo’s novia and shows off the ring.  Everyone is happy for them and Pablo announces they’ll marry in 15 days.  Everyone’s invited.  Even Duende is invited!  He’s not amused.

In the despacho Dion thoughtbubbles about what Hissadora told him.  What if it’s true that Buenaventura is worth as much as Malquerida.  The difference is that BV has owners even though Hissie has cast her spell on the old man.  She’s very bold (atrevida) and likes playing with fire.  She’s so sure Xi won’t talk.  But what if she does?  He can’t risk Xi telling Agustina and thus bringing everything down with her and his (his?) Camila. He has to do something, something drastic!!!

Wow! This episode started out with a lot of goodness, I even thought it was going to be the "Fin".

Paquito -- Thank you for such an entertaining recap. I love your title! That was some scene where our boy got gussied up for the fiesta.

Mariano is such an attractive character all the way around. I hate it that he's got no hope, though I love Camila and Daniel together. The scene with Mariano and the kids was adorable. And, of course, Camila was excellent with the kids, too.

Pobre de Vivi. One more person with an anvil hanging over her head. I imagine (hope!) she survives and prospers with Rafa, but it's going to take more than standing up to Bruno to get him out of her life.

Isadora is a world-class villain, colder and more calculating than that mean hombre Dionisio. I have to say that she looked very pretty last night in the white dress.

Paquita_- Thank you for giving us so much wonderful details during the Cam- Dan scenes. The thing Dan said, as he tried to sweet talk Cam into coming to sleep with him every night was "Que lindos ojos tienes. Como que me hablan." Sigh. All the scenes between them were sigh worthy and I loved the celebration with the amigos.

Pablo and Luzma were adorable. Such a difference between Pablo and Yago. I was sad to see Nat fall for his lines. I guess she will have to learn the really hard way.

And finally a kiss between Rafa and Vivi. Yay! Even though she seemed confused by it, she liked that kiss. She can't deny that. Although it did seem at the start of it that Rafa was hanging on to her really tightly to make sure she didn't slip out of his embrace like during their previous near kiss moments.

I think what Cam is wearing is a traditional ranchera costume. It's just lacking the bolero jacket and the bow tie. It makes sense on this occasion that she would wear traditional dress like all the men of MQ do. For those who wanted to see the last of Pablo' s vests, you got your wish. He now dresses like the other MQ boys. His thin frame looks even thinner somehow now. But he still looks very fetching, at least in my opinion. He's just such a sweet kid.

Great work, Paquita.

I also like that white dress. Hissadora has interesting clothes. She and I have similar taste in nail polish; I love metallics and frosts. The only inconsistency about her is that her nails should be longer.

Duende will feel a lot better when he makes the acquaintance of a few ladies of his kind and understands that this will be his life now.

Rocio is about to pay for her snobbery, but Cayetano doesn't deserve what Hissadora has in mind.

I hope Amanda tells Osvaldo about the incident in the kitchen.

Thanks Paquita, this is an enjoyable read.
Foxy: to answer your question PSA's are public service announcements. This story includes subtle PSA's regarding the importance of being literate; the not so subtle but usual push against class distinctions, and here, the ability of women to equal or better men (Camila running MQ like a pro, Isadora being a better villain than Dio; Vivi's ability to emotionally conquer her abusive ex, etc.)

Yola

In addition to not having in-your-face- PSAs, I also note that this tn has been free of the usual "call of the blood" (COTB)-- that strange feeling of being magically drawn to someone who is a blood relative.

There was no COTB between Camila and Pablo. She treats him like she treats all young people-- with kindness and love. And he's special to Luzma, who is special to her. There was no COTB between Dan and FX, or between FX and Ximena, or between Xi and Dan, although they noted the similar birthmarks. Dan can't stand either Xi or FX. And there was no COTB between Dio and Natalia. Luzma only saw Julian's corpse, but there was certainly no COTB when she saw it. The only two people we have seen magically drawn to each other are Camila and Dan-- as it should be, since they are our main couple. :)

Thanks very much, Paquita, for yet another wonderful recap, complete with snark, useful detail, and helpful vocab such as "te cay el veinte."

I can't wait for the next few episodes: they should be action-packed. Then again, of course, I'm nervous. Clearly someone I care about is about to be the recipient of Bruno's evil. Probably Camila, or, at least, that's the plan. Will he rip off the medal in the struggle and leave it behind as a clue? Surely the medal has got to figure into the plot as more than just a ring substitute.

UA, I too hope that Amanda will tell Osvaldo about Dionisio's attack and threat, but I fear she may be too intimidated to do so.

As for Natalia...sigh.

I'm glad that FX saw Hissadora and Dionisio together, especially since Ximena's days may be numbered by the "drastic" action Dionisio feels he needs to take to ensure her silence. (Will the writers really kill off the sister of the protagonista?)

Poor Mariano. I think Teresa will ultimately be the recipient of that jewelled heart, but not before Mariano's heart is broken.

Mariano would be the right man for Camila if there were no Daniel. However, if Miriam is alive and conscious, we may need to prepare ourselves for a detour in Camila and Daniel's relationship.

It will not be easy for any of them if this happens.

Thanks Paquito. I liked your "oof"s. Just gearing up to watch it now, but I had to sneak to see what Camila's answer was. I guess an Obvio is as good as an Acepto.

What a disappointment the turn Natalia is taking. She is loving and beautiful and looks good in yellow and deserves to be with a guy whose family will adore her, or a guy who will defy his snobby family. She should not be hidden.

Augustina checks on the lodgings? Don't Cayetano and Rocio live next door?

Can't wait to see the ranchera denim corset.

Vivi- thank you so much for picking up on what Daniel said about her eyes! I knew it was something sigh-worthy but I just couldn't get it and the sub titles cut out. I guess they couldn't make it out either.

Everyone is so good on predicting story lines. I don't comment very often cuz I have a really odd job schedule but I do enjoy my Caray community.

I may be the only one here who doesn't think Miriam is alive but they do seem to be throwing hints out there as some of you have pointed out.

Well, back to my weird job schedule!

Paquita

Thanks Paquita, you always do such a great job. I figured you didn't need cc's because your recaps are so detailed.

"She playfully says that’s because everything about him fits her very well." Am I the only one who applied her dirty mind here?

In a normal TN, Amanda wouldn't tell anyone, but since this one has proven to not follow the usual rules, I hope she squeals.

I knew Natalia would be taken in by Yago's appeals. Not because this TN is so predictable but because most young girls do this with their first loves. But she is in way over her head with Dion. He is probably 5 steps ahead of her.

Good for Viv to hold firm with Bruno, but I hope she didn't turn Rafa off. I am hoping after she has time to think that she will have a talk with him and give him a try.

Isa certainly is sure of herself. She thinks she's going to be the owner of both ranches.

Maybe inadvertently Dion will foil the plot that Isa and Ximena have concocted because he wants to stop Ximena from talking to Aggie about the kiss.

Paquita--You did Camila and Daniel perfectly for me....Uff. But then again, you did everything else perfectly--even the parts I wanted to FF through. And believe it or not, there are very few of those.

I think Rafa came on too strong for Vivi. She was pleased and proud of herself and deserved a wonderful hug and maybe a light kiss from Rafa. With no "prep" no wonder she was confused (albeit they did have another close encounter days earlier on the couch). Ni modo, there was so much testosterone flying around that house in the last few days, I don't blame Rafa for making his move. I hope their next meeting isn't awkward.

Vivi--I agree--no COTB in this tn. Whenever it does pop up (CME) it strikes me as so fake a plot device as to require an extra hard twist on the beanie screws. With all the hidden family ties you mentioned, I'm surprised they didn't use it more often. However, that said, I was sceptical about those birthmarks. I had a birthmark, my son had a birthmark, my daughter didn't, and they didn't look alike AT ALL. I'll have to read up on them, but it seems to me they are random. Looking back, they didn't really need to have that scene with Xi & Dan; it didn't resolve anything.

cathyx--you and a lot of us....uff.

Cathyx wrote: "'She playfully says that’s because everything about him fits her very well.' Am I the only one who applied her dirty mind here?"

No, ¡para nada! :-)

cathyx - of course you weren't alone in taking that "fits me well" line dirtily. I, for one, guffawed as I'm sure many others did. I would point out Vivi and Anita but that may embarrass them.

I like Aaron for Vivi better than Rafa. He's too intense and wrinkle foreheaded. I love Aaron's serenity.

Did Pablo take over Mariano's non-paid job, or did he usurp Roldofo's job and pride?

Paquita, thanks for a great recap! Oof!

As for the denim corset, my guess is that our gal Camila hasn’t had much time for shopping lately, so she just rummaged around the bodega at the rancho, and found something her granny left behind. She couldn’t find the jacket but figured what the heck.

Isa looked great in that white dress. It freaks me out a bit to say this, but every now and then she wears something that I would wear, like that white dress. Not the Youth Hitler uniform or those butt ballooning pants she had on the other day.

cathyx, I must have a dirty mind, too, because I heard a double entendre from Camila as well.

I felt the same way. Novela heroes -- like their literary counterparts -- always are appropriately appointed.

Raising my hand to agree my mind went to a dirty place too. ;-) I think the writers intended it.

RlaO- The administrator job (Pablo)is different than the caporal job (Rodolfo). In the old days, Alonso was the paid administrator and Leoncio was the caporal. One takes care of the business management end (purchase of equipment, paying accounts and bills, bank account, etc.), and the other takes care of everything to do with the care of the animals and the people who care for the animals. When Camila kicked Al to the curb, she took his job away from him. That's when Mariano stepped in as administrator. He refused payment, but Cami paid him anyway. So Pablo is getting paid for the administrator job, just like Al did and like Mariano did (against his will).

Not embarassed in the least, RlO; and did not think it "dirtily." It's a necessary part of making love, uff.

Also, you asked--Did Pablo take over Mariano's non-paid job, or did he usurp Roldofo's job and pride? Rodolfo was named capataz (he's supposed to be in the fields supervising activities in the great out-of-doors) after Leoncio's quick demotion to mute prisoner. Mariano WAS doing the administrator's job as a favor to Camila after Alonso's unceremonious firing, but he didn't intend to do it forever. Pablo is on the payroll now.

Jeez, Vivi. It's obvio you type faster than I do.

Great minds Anita...and I don't know why I wrote caporal instead of capataz. But that is a word, right? I need to look it up.

Aha! Caporal and capataz mean the same thing. I wasn't just making stuff up. :)

Finally saw the show, and now can comment with a little more detail.

That shirt Dan was wearing the next morning looked like he borrowed it from Aaron. Very tight and too small. I like a well muscled man, but I can't say I liked the too tight shirt look too much. Give it back to Aaron and go shopping.

I thought Viv definitely kissed back and wasn't turned off. I thought she was more surprised by it because she hadn't thought of Rafa that way, but that didn't mean she couldn't or wouldn't. She just needs more time to process it.

I didn't hate Camila's outfit for the fiesta. I agreee with Vivi that she looked like an oldfashioned ranchera. If the skirt were cullotes, then even more so. Maybe it's tradition for the owner to wear the traditional garb on occasions like this.

I'm glad too that there hasn't been that silly COTB. If we were to believe all the silly 'normal' things that happen in TN's, we would all feel very abnormal because they don't happen to most of us.

Also, after watching the Viv and Bruno scene, I didn't get the impression that he would still go after Viv. Those kind of bullies rely on the other person's fear to control them. If there isn't that fear, then they feel powerless. I really hope that is the case here.

No clues were given in the avances unfortunately. I can't even guess what they are plotting. Maybe Dan will get bored staying at home and sneak over.

I just remembered where I saw Camila's outfit before. On 'The Big Valley'. Victoria and Audra Barkley always dressed that way when they went riding.

Re birthmarks: Wikipedia has a nicely detailed explanation. there are two types, pigmented and vascular.

The exact cause of most birthmarks is unknown, but vascular birthmarks (what we call port-wine stains, like on Mikhail Gorbachev) are not hereditary.

As to ones called stork bites, they may appear in similar locations on the head and neck. Nearly half of all babies have such a birthmark.

The other red birthmark, usually disappears by age 10.

So our very dear script johnnies made it up.

Anita- I think the only point of the birthmarks was to give Viewerville an insider clue, that the characters didn't have, about the relationship between Daniel Diaz and Ximena Diaz. It helps to eliminate any possibility that there could be another baby-daddy for Xi or Dan out there, and cements FX as their papa. It also helped confirm in Xi's mind that Dan was her bro when she eavesdropped on Cami and Al. Otherwise, she might have doubted what she heard-- but instead it became crystal clear for her when she heard them saying Andres is Daniel.

I looked up the info on shared family birthmarks online and there was plenty of stories/explanations on both sides of the fence about the possibility. I found nothing conclusive either way. Wasn't it Jardinera that said she and one of her kids share the same birthmark in different places? (Like Xi, Dan and FX)

Anita- I have a birthmark that is pigment-less-- much lighter than the rest of me. It doesn't seem to fit the Wikipedia description. Are there really no other types than those two?

Sorry, Vivi, that's one I can't answer. I wonder if the article in Wiki was weighted toward the type of skin where those birthmarks would show up.

We need CARLOS!!!!

Thanks so much for your recap Paquita.

Really distraught about Amanda's run in w/Satan and hope she bucks the tn trend and tells. Also hated Dio saying I know your every move crap. All bullies and abusers do that, blech.

Juanita - I think Xi fate is doomed and sealed. She knowingly made an alliance w/Isa to kill or gravely injury her sister and had an affair w/her sister's husband. And now with Dio's threat, its just a matter of time before she leaves the world of the living (my guess).

Can someone remind me when Dio delusions about Cam started? Was it before or after he started romancing Gussy? Thanks in advance.

Anita/Vivi - thanks for the info on birthmarks.

Karen- Dio started having the hots for Camila as soon as he met her-- on her wedding day to Al.

Paquita - Thanks for a fun read. Appreciate the vocab. "Don’t worry Hiss, ACME Anvil Works is filling out your order as we speak!" - lol

Ditto on the "fits her very well."

This is the day Hisssadora should make hay with Cayetano cause she looks fabulous in that white dress. A little too tight, but that's her style.

Mariano, will you at least try kissing Camila first, before going straight to marriage?

Lo and behold, Ximena had enough family loyalty to be pithed about Dio cheating on her mom – but not enough to rethink her plans.

Paquito, I loved your recap!!

Thanks Yola and Vivi for explaining PSA’s. Vivi, you never cease to amaze me with your observations. Thanks for sharing “call of the blood" (COTB)-- that strange feeling of being magically drawn to someone who is a blood relative”

As the plot deepens, I’m confused as to why the bad guys see Camila as a bigger threat than Daniel as far as an obstacle in preventing them from taking over the ranch. Also, have Cam and Dan ever had a discussion about how they will handle things once Daniel is no longer incognito?

Carolina, your remark is so funny and right on target!! “As for the denim corset, my guess is that our gal Camila hasn’t had much time for shopping lately, so she just rummaged around the bodega at the rancho, and found something her granny left behind. She couldn’t find the jacket but figured what the heck”.

“Te cay el viente” … does it mean "until it finally hit’s him"?
Is that how we would say "until it dawns on him".

This was a great episode. Two marriage proposals in one episodes. Man in the part where Luzma tells Ana she's Pablo's girlfriend, I saw how Iliana looked, and I could see she wasn't happy. Oh well, the Bratgirl bitch deserves it after causing Luzma's rape and making Pablo miserable.

As for Camila and Daniel, I loved the proposal scene and their romantic scenes are always fun to watch. Finally, a kiss between Rafael and Viviana. It seemed they were getting closer, but the moment had to be spoiled by Viviana denying the kiss as well as Rafael.

Let's hope the Bratgirl Iliana doesn't ruin this wedding, as well as Rocio.

Thanks Vivi. No wonder Isa keeps mocking him about his "obsession." She knows almost all women would NEVER be with their mother's husband.

Foxy - Isa sees Cam as being a weakness for Dan so if she harms Cam she can get the land from Dan.

Sorry for posting the same comment again, had to correct my final sentence.

Ok another question - doesn't Vivi secretly like Rafa but she knew he wanted Cam?

Karen- Vivi's never expressed an romantic interest Rafa. But she has seemed sort of interested in Aaron.

Foxy- I think the bad guys see both Cam and Dan as a threat to getting MQ. In the beginning they thought they could easily manipulate Cam-- hence the marriage to Al. They learned that wasn't the case at the same time that they learned of the existence of Dan. They then had two problems they hadn't been expecting-- a strong-willed Camila, AND the mysterious DDA. They have been trying ever since to first get rid of Dan or make a deal with him (since he's heir #1), and then deal with Cam (heir #2).

When Cam and Dan met with Osvaldo, when Dan was hiding out healing in her cabin, they expressed concern about what happens when Dan can finally claim the inheritance (as he can now with his birth certificate and his application for dual citizenship). Dan wants to immediately turn the inheritance over to Cami, but asked Osvaldo how they can do this without Camila become target #1 for the bad guys again. Osvaldo said he was working on that, but didn't really see a way to avoid that. That's why they are working on finding proof against the bad guys, so that they can be thrown in jail and no longer be a threat to either Cami or Dan.

The reason why Isa is now going after Cami is because she knows Dan loves Cami (after finding out the real identity of D'Andres). Cami is his Achilles heel, so Isa will likely do something to Camila to pressure Dan into giving her what she wants-- MQ.

Remember that Dio does not know about this plan. Dio would not want to hurt Camila in any way or kill her, because he has the delusion that she will soon/one day be "his." Isa would kill Camila in a heartbeat to get what she wants. Both Dio and Isa would happily kill/harm Dan to get him out of the way, but they first have to find a way to make sure the ranch could come into their hands. The only ways to do that are either by bargaining with him (Camila is a perfect bargaining Chip), or by killing him so that Camila can inherit, and then find a way to get MQ from her.

Great recap Paquita, fun and complete.

Vivi, re: birthmarks, look up "pigmentary mosaicism," or "hypopigmented birthmarks."

David

One thing I noticed that no one has mentioned so far (I think) was the congratulatory bear hug Rafa gave Dan, probably when Dan and Cam announced that they were engaged. I was stunned by the hug, since Rafa grabbed Dan around the mid-section, just about where his wound supposedly was. I think Rafa actually lifted Dan up. I was expecting that Dan would collapse in pain on the floor, with his wound once again re-opened, but no, he didn't so much as wince. Hmmm.... Script glitch?

Hey everybody--Listen to Our Vivi--she knows which way the road goes.

I also remember in Cam & Dan's little post reconciliation scene, the quien es el mas guapo, that Dan was saying her ranch, and she was saying OUR ranch and he said, we'll talk about this later.

With the marriage proposal--if the wedding goes through, it doesn't necessarily become OUR ranch, but Osvaldo will come up with something--a pre-nup?

I can see where Isa might go through will an order to Kill, but for her purposes, Harm is good enough if it pressures Dan into giving up the ranch in return for Camila. Brilliant deduction, Vivi.

Meanwhile, you are absolutely on the mark, Vivi--Dio, if he knew would never let anything happen to Cam (ay he is so deluded), so once whatever it is happens, he'll be leading the cavalry in search of her or pushing the popos to do it, to their great annoyance. He still seems to have plenty of money to throw around.

Pooooor Hissy-Not, if and when he finds out she had a hand in this. So far, only Bruno is going to be in his cross-hairs. Oooo lala, can't wait.

David- Wow! All that stuff sounds serious. As far as I know, I only have a small patchy spot of "hypopigmented birthmark" on my arm from birth, with none of the genetic disorders or other problems they list that can be associated with it. Now I'm all panicky and wondering if I have some major illness. LOL!

Oh, and someone mentioned awhile back that Cam & Dan have already been in the hospital near death, so we have to expect something else.

Juanita--script glitch, maybe, haha. Remember, Dan said, as he lifted Cam up to bring her to bed that he doesn't hurt anymore because she healed him. Whatevva, what struck me as funny is that shorter-and-slimmer-than Dan-Rafa lifted taller-and hulkier-than Rafa-Dan completely off his feet.

Rafa must have a respectable physique; his arms always look good in half- or rolled-up sleeves.

If I were Osvaldo I'd advise Camila and Daniel to elope right after the fiesta. Nobody knows (yet) whether Miriam is alive or not and the publicity the marriage would get upon revelation will scuttle the evil ones' plans at least for a while.

They should also make out their wills immediately with Rafa and Viv as executors and clauses that start with "In the event of my untimely death..." This would force El Diablo, Mama Dragon, and Bratgirl Sr out into the open.

UA--I think you are 100 per cent correcta. As it stands right now, Mrs. Dionisio gets everything that belongs to Camila; but do we know who Daniel's heir is? Obvio to us it's Miriam and/or their child whether he dies intestate or they are named--but their existence is still a mystery. Dio & Isa ought to investigate and not leave it up to hearsay.

Gee, we had this discussion once before and thought we'd put it to rest. However, as the scene and personalities shift and change sides, it all gets more complicated.

P.S. David--if you are our companero from CME & El Tal, glad you stuck your head back in. Stop lurking!

I think Camila should definitely speak with Osvaldo yesterday.

It would be interesting if Teresa discovers that there never was an arrest warrant out on Daniel in the first place.

Re. Pablo telling Piedad that now that he's going to protect her and Luzma. The feminist in me is really annoyed at this, but the rest of me wants to put on an apron and bake him some cookies, he's just so darn cute and sweet. Maybe some of those cookies with healthy fruit in them would be a good compromise.

kelly

kelly, I think the major theme of this show has been that the good guys protect those that they love and the bad guys harm those that they should love.

Every major character has followed that pattern. I think this central theme was stated by Berreca when he told Camila that love isn't just about being honest; love is also about protection. He mentions wanting to protect Amanda (and Natalia) several times when he proposed to her. Dan's justification to Camila about concealing his identity was that he was protecting her. Both Daniel and Camila feel they failed to protect Miriam and Luis, respectively. Rodolfo explained to Camila that he fought with Yago because he cares about Natalia and wanted to protect her. Rafa moved into Vivi's house to protect her from Bruno and he also states several times that wants to protect Vivi. And Pablo promised to protect Luzma and Peidad.

The bad guys who want to harm (or do harm) people family members or lovers whom they ought to love include Isadora, Alfonso, Ximena, Bruno, and Leonico.

For me, Dionisio's intentions for Natalia remain the big thematic question. Will he just use her or will he actually harm her? Is she the soft spot in his scaly underbelly and will he want to protect her? And if he does, what price will he pay for that in the end?
