Telemundo -

looks like...

Rosa Diamantes- went to ultimos capitulos tonight.
Corazon Valiente- gran final Monday jan, 7th, followed by La Patrona on the 8th.
Pablo Escoba- went to ultimos capitulos tonight

(both Pablo Escobar and Rosa Diamante went to ultimos capitulos exactly two weeks after Corazon Valiente did, if that helps determining their final)

GENERAL

Your hardy recappers feel the need of a break. Corazón Valiente will be recapped until the end. But, when the new novela, La Patrona, starts, I will only be willing to do recaps on Monday nights. I have a possible, not definite, recapper for Fridays. But, I’d love to see some others volunteer to recap one of these nights: Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Three new people would be just terrific.

A lot has been happening on Corazón Valiente, and our recaps have gotten longer. They don’t have to be that way. If you volunteered for a night, you could make it much shorter, opening the door for others to comment.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – VIERNES – Part 1

Willy, naturally, assumes Sam and Jesús are about to get it on in the Living Room. Jesús says that he loves Sam, but he knows that Sam really loves Willy. He tries to leave, but Sam stops him.

We get a long, nasty scene with the Reptile and La Niña Bonita. The Reptile toasts to the hoped for death of Fabiola. She also says Miggy is not her favorite guy. NB gives her a death stare and tells her not to touch Miggy. The Reptile says she’ll be satisfied with his suffering over the loss of FF.

Miggy and Fabiola argue vehemently about Fabiola not having told him EM was in LA.

Sam orders EM not to leave [he’s pretty drunk]. He says he’s driven in worse condition, and Sam says it’s her responsibility.

While Sam and Willy go to the kitchen so Sam can make EM some coffee, Jessica comes into the Living Room and recognizes EM.

JM has some sort of secret planned with Génesis and Violeta.

Fabiola tells Miggy that EM tried to keep his end of the bargain and save Clara. She reminds him that EM saved Alma. Miggy is still angry, but Fabiola talks sense to him: the ones to get under lock and key are La Niña Bonita and D8D. Miggy can’t stay mad at FF, and they start to have sex on the bakery table.

Willy tells EM, while Sam is in the kitchen, that Sam may no longer be his woman, but Dr. Montoya needs to remember that she’s the mother of his children. He gets up to leave. EM looks right at him and tells him he wouldn’t go if he were Willy. He says Willy thinks he knows him, but he doesn’t. Willy may think he’s lost the battle, but he likes challenges. If Willy leaves, Willy’s woman will be a war, and HE will win. This was better acted by Veroni than it reads. Willy just shrugs and leaves.

The Reptile gleefully kicks around ideas for FF: in a wheelchair, blind, mute, or maybe they could kidnap Alma. NB says she already did that once. She says that when she goes to Colombia she’ll take Fabiola with her.

After seeing EM, Jessica has become catatonic. Come on, he’s not that scary!

A nurse calls Gus’ house. Cecilia is out of her coma and wants to speak to Miggy.

The Reptile gets on a self-pity kick and tells NB that she not only lost her baby, she was in a coma for a year after she fell down the stairs. Ringo comes in, giggles, and says it looks like a witches meeting. EM comes back in a bad mood. He asks them all to leave, but NB refuses; she tells him he’ll always be in her heart.

JM’s surprise is a judge! He’s going to marry Ángela and JM. Fabiola and Sam arrive for the ceremony. There is a surprise call from Barcelona from Emma.

Cecilia tells Miggy that D8D has a secret in Switzerland. The day she was shot she was supposed to have sent a monthly payment. She has a folder with accounts and receipts of a private school in Switzerland; this is the most terrible secret of D8D.

D8D is still hanging out at the bordello. He gets a call. What? You didn’t get the payment? He says he’ll take care of it personally. We see Clara in a sexy outfit. Apparently she is already “working” there. Ghastly.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – VIERNES – Part 2

EM tells NB that it’s dangerous for her here in LA. She needs to go back after the New Year, and he may go with her.

We see Sam and Ángela get married. No Reptile, no police arresting anyone, nada. Just fast!

Jessica finally speaks. She tells Nora, Nicolás and Willy that she’s afraid for Sam.

EM tells NB that he wants Sam to seek him out and ask for his love. He’s not going to force her to go to Colombia. If she doesn’t seek him out, he’ll go to Colombia. Just then Lugubrious Lady walks in with a suitcase saying she’s leaving. NB rolls her eyes, and I’m in total agreement. Later EM tries to talk her out of leaving, but she says loving him hurts her and she has to get away.

Miggy has gotten Cecilia’s folder with the records. He says it’s obvious D8D has someone in school there. Today they’ll find out who it is. Miggy calls Switzerland and tries to get the name but it doesn’t work.

Willy tells Sam he’s going to stay at D8D’s apartment now that Angie and JM are together. He rants on some more about Sam having something with Montoya. Sam finally looks him in the eye and says she wishes she did have something else going on. Maybe someday. Good for you, Sam!

Fabiola calls the school in Switzerland, speaks Italian, and pretends to be a friend of the del Castillo student. The student, a girl, can’t come to the phone because she’s in class.

Sam tells EM that, because of the other night, it’s better that he find another bodyguard. He says he doesn’t regret what he said. She tells him she admires him. She won’t permit any kisses goodbye, only a handshake.

JM comes out kissing Angie and crowing about their being husband and wife. We see the Reptile on the ground pretending to be a homeless drunk. For crying out loud!

We see lots of New Year’s Eve fireworks. Miggy and FF clink champagne glasses, happy. Clara is spending this night in the bordello, miserable. Gus and Laura are kissing, and we hear their thoughts that this will be a second chance for them. The Reptile, Ringo, EM, and NB clink glasses. The Reptile’s thoughts are about another year with JM and Ángela together and she is alone. We see Sam alone, thinking to herself how much she misses Willy. We see Willy thinking to himself that he hates being alone.

Sam comes to Willy’s apartment, rehearsing her usual speech about how much she loves him. Lady comes out, with wet hair in a bathrobe. Uh oh!

Miggy tells Cecilia that the “chica” in Switzerland must be the daughter of Bernardo del Castillo. Cecilia says that he doesn’t have a daughter there; it’s his granddaughter. It’s the daughter of Fernanda del Castillo. [Whew! I figured this out as soon as they said internado but didn’t want to plant this in anyone’s brain and spoil the surprise. Fortunately, it came out quickly!]

We see a hand putting some drops on sugar cubes in a hallway. We see a pretty blonde taking coffee and the sugar cubes away with her. Then we see the presumably evil spawn. She’s got on a school uniform, is clutching a white cat, and says to herself: “They say cats are untrustworthy. Women are worse!”

PABLO ESCOBAR, Viernes, Part 1

The government leaders meet again. The President is pleased that the police found one of the places where the hostages were held. But Nidia and Alberto are concerned that if the police raid a place where the hostages are, the hostages could get hurt or killed. The President tells Nidia that if the police find another hideout, he'll consult with the families before raiding it. The Chusco gang, now pretty much destroyed by the cops, was the group guarding the hostages for the Medellín cartel. Dr. Bedoya says even though his sister is a prisoner, he's going to trust the government. President Gaviria says they can't just stand by and do nothing, while months pass with no word from the kidnappers.

But then there IS word. The Extraditables issue a press release that in response to the “killing of innocent civilians” by the government, they're going to kill one of the female hostages. Buitre gets in a car, headed for Guymaral. It's January 24, 1991, full moon. Berenice, Maruja and Carmina (Bedoya's sister) are happy that Berenice's stomach is better. A tough looking black guard enters, and tells Carmina she has to come with him. She's convinced she's going to be killed, even though the others try to convince her (and themselves) she's being freed. Maruja gets protective, says no one's leaving, but the guy pulls a gun. Maruja asks Carmina to tell her family they're okay, but Carmina knows she's going to be killed. Maruja gives her the sedatives which were helping Berenice, if something goes wrong, take these. The guard tells her not to take her belongings.

Carmina is put in a car, with Buitre driving. She's horrified, remembering how he was the one who originally kidnapped her, broke into her house. She repeats she knows they're going to kill her. Buitre and the black guy lie and say they're going to release her. Carmina says I've been getting ready to die for months. I know tonight is my time. But I want a final wish. Tell my children I love them, and tell my brother Daniel, that the only one who's at fault is you guys. We see Daniel Bedoya watching a preacher on TV saying whatever happens, it's God's will.

Nidia tells the President he has to modify his latest decree, it's not clear enough, Escobar won't turn himself in unless it's clearer. (As if any of that matters).

The car stops in an overgrown area behind a building. Carmina says the Lord's Prayer, and Buitre shoots her DEAD, then crosses himself. The black guard in the car also looks sad about this. Some drunks find the body. But it seems the government hasn't found out, certainly Alberto and Bedoya don't know. They can't understand why Escobar would threaten, and not carry it out. Back in Medellín, Pablo also can't understand why it's not on the news, although Marino says maybe the government does know, but is keeping a lid on it. And the chilling truth is that NO ONE KNOWS! Carmina was found by drunks, but had no ID, and some guys in the morgue say no one with these features has been reported missing. So they throw the body in a big hole. Whoa.

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

Armando decided not to leave, but he's still not talking, still claiming he knows nothing. The cop now realizes Armando played him. He purposely led them to where the Chusco gang was, so the police would kill them (which they did), and Chusco wouldn't get killed BY them! So the cop tries another tack. Son, you're guilty of kidnapping, you're going away for a long time, you were an accomplice. Officer, you know that's not true, says Armando. Yeah, well, what I know doesn't matter, all that matters is what I can prove to a judge. I think Armando's gonna collaborate.

Diana is feeling close to the young guy reporter who was transferred to be with her. They both hope they'll get released together. It's been easier than before. But up in the sky, here comes a copter. Armando is trying to find another one of the Chusco houses. At first he can't, but then....yes, there it is! The copter calls for ground support. Meanwhile, we see the black guard take away Maruja and Berenice's TV and radio, the orders are, no more news.

But the copter is where Diana and the young guy are. The shooting starts. Guards go down. Diana and the guy are terrified, hiding. But he wants to escape, sort of drags her outside, and they start running, bullets whizzing by. They run down a hill, as the bad guys yell out, the hostages are getting away, kill them! Diana is hit in the stomach, collapses to the ground, tells her young friend to keep running. He won't leave her. She rips her necklace off, tells him to promise to give it to her mother, to use it to baptize Miguel. Oh no.

Meanwhile, Pablo is typing still another letter, but he doesn't want Peluche's help this time. This must be some doozy of a letter, this one he has to write himself. And we, like hostages of this show, have to wait days and days until next Wednesday, when we'll finally find out Diana's fate.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks for a wonderful recap, Novelera, concise but dramatic.

The Reptile is such a funny character with all those disguises. And as much as she's always complaining about her life, there's always some revelation to knock her for a bigger loop. First, she thought JM pushed her down the stairs, and later found out it was some other guy (whom she then killed). Then, finding out Ofelia was her mother! And now, after all that about never having a child, she DOES! I can see why she's pretty much lost her mind. But I love those disguises!

Lady packed her bags and said she was leaving. Then she shows up in a robe at Willy's? That's weird. Although, maybe Willy is at D8D's, and she was just showering before her plane. We'll see.

The other day, Camilo flatlined. He's still flatlined, I guess, since we didn't even see him once in this episode. The cops and the writers must be in cahoots, neither will tell us if he's alive! (of course he is).

Although Cecelia's revelation that D8D was sending checks to a school in Switzerland turned out to be a shocker, from her point, how was that such a "terrible secret" she had to reveal before dying? I hope she lives, but with no boyfriend to match up with, her chances are slim. It was also a little strange that her mother was the secretary to D8D's father. Does that ever really happen???

In addition to learning Spanish, I'm also learning Italian a little. I loved it when FF broke into Italian!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-

Thanks, Novelera for your usual great recap.

I guessed that the mysterious internado inmate was the Reptile's child when she told NB that she was in a coma for a year after falling down the stairs and that her life would have been different if she had had a child.

It seems bizarre to introduce a new character with only 4 episodes left. It doesn't seem like such a terrible secret. It was a rotten thing to do to the Reptile but that's nothing new.

I guess the timing works out. The Reptile was in high school when she got pregnant. We know that Willy was 15 when he fathered Nicolás on Sam. Nic is 15 or 16, right? Willy is a few years younger than the Reptile so I guess that the Reptile could have a child who is still in high school.

I hope Cecilia makes it, too. She could still have a last minute romance.

Hombre- I am going to start studying Italian after I go to Mexico in February so I liked hearing FF speak in Italian, too!!!

Corazon Valiente -

thanks so much novelera !!!
for another wonderful recap!

I'm loving the actress that plays NB (Sandra Beltrán), especially her non verbal comments about those around her.

Lady sure is a loose end that keeps popping up, her keys don't seem to fit any of the locks that open up the good things in life.

feel so sorry for Clara, such a quiet discarded life she has lived, until Camilo came along, and such a whirlwind gran amor she had, now gone as quickly as it came, she thinks Camilo is dead doesn't she?

ah yes, Fernanda did have a cute little daughter after all, or do the bills also come from her plastic surgeon, 'hm' (as Fernanda always says), so now she doesn't have a reason for being evil, of course after she found out it wasn't JM that pushed her down the stairs, that didn't change things much either, 'hm', yes I can see them bonding, probably buy life insurance policies on each other, of course evil kids can really bring down their parents, we saw some of this in Flor Salvaje, and I imagine Fernanda has a few new things to talk over with her parent as well, 'hm', that should be some family reunion, and then there is the momentarily happy couple of Angela and JM, how wonderful for them to have a new daughter as well.

Rosa Diamante -

...I believe this is going into last chapters, which would put the end in about 3 weeks, for any casual viewers wishing to catch up, there is a picture summary of Fridays show posted here,

http://foro.telenovela-world.com/n4/read-t.php?f=1123&i=7591&t=7591#reply_7591

.

Corazon Valiente

So Fernandas daughter was alive the whole time? Wonder who the actress is...

Hombre de misterio - wasn't it Vicente who pushed Fer down the stairs on Bernardos orders ? He was shot by the police.

general -

YES,

novelera, you and Jean, as well as Hombre, have done, wow, Corazon Valientes now in 200 plus chapters, and Pablo Escobar, what did he say and who said it, wow, you all deserve a week in Aruba, where is my check book, darn I can never find it when I need it,

but I have to say, I have been watching Rosa Diamante as well, fast moving, but I am so ready for these all to end, la Patrona, wow, I think Corazon Valiente has changed the way I look at novelas, I don't think I can deal with a girl that has problems with her boyfriends mother, for 6 months, and the sets look oh so like sets, I don't think I will be on this one, but I will always read your recaps,

Pasión Prohibida, yeah maybe not this either, Mónica Spear with Jencarlos Canela, really, and he has a new baby with the girl he loves, never happen, but the way the promos show her, her come hither but this will never happen looks, and his, this will never happen intense looks, ut oh.

I may hold out to El Señor de los Cielos, this looks good to me, based on a true story,

take forever off novelera,
you deserve it, palm trees, a cocktail, maybe a massage by a buff novela guy,
but maybe I can bumble a recap on El Señor de los Cielos...

love your recaps novelera!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

NovelaMan, I'm sure you're right about who shot Vicente. So many people have been killed (mostly by the Reptile), that I can't always remember the details. I was mainly pointing out how the Reptile's entire world view, that on which she's been basing her evil actions, has been completely ROCKED 2 times, going on 3.

Of course lots of characters have had major revelations, Laura about Jessica, Sam and Willy about Nicolas, Emma and FF that they were switched, Willy about Nora, but the Reptile's were more shocking, mainly because she had devoted her entire life to revenge (and to proving how beautiful she is, which is such a joke!).

PABLO ESCOBAR

Thanks so much, Hombre. I finally got to Friday's episode last night. Your recap was so vivid!

The killing of Carmina was so awful. It's unbelievable that Buitre and the other guy could kill a woman who was reciting the Lord's Prayer. As you said, the other guy appeared to have some remorse. Buitre had a soul extraction long ago.

I feel like my soul has taken a hit as well. If not, why do I enjoy the guys holding hostages getting shot from helicopters so much? And, I've been wondering this: why do they always attack from helicopters, giving the thugs lots of warning? Couldn't they land out of sight and creep up stealthily?

GENERAL

My son and daughter-in-law bought me a wonderful, flat screen TV for Christmas. I actually had the old fashioned kind, and mine was from 1996! My Chinese-Peruvian TV guy hooked it up and got the DirectTV box and my DVD player all hooked up. It all has to fit in a not-so-new pine entertainment center, so it's not that easy! Wow, the picture is amazing.

Speaking of my TV guy, he's been my go-to guy for about 8 years now. He was born in Peru, of Chinese parentage, and speaks Spanish, Cantonese and, of course, perfect English. He usually gives me a good deal because I've recommended him to a LOT of friends, who all are thrilled with his work. He gets a BIG kick out of my watching telenovelas. I think I'm the only Spanish speaking client he has.

GENERAL

wow novelera. what a lovely christmas present. it'll be even more amazing if you get channels in hd. the better to watch la mariposa... lol.

Corazon Valiente
Wow Novelera, another great recap and you drew the short straw for the episode with the biggest reveal yet!
Maybe the Reptile will not get to meet Reptiletta, but will learn of her existence right before her death. What could be a more horrible punishment for her? Oh, and please tell me Lucy and Lucy 2.0 will end up with someone nice...
Also: how can they save Clara's character now? So sad.
J in Oregon

Pablo Escobar -

hi novelera,

so glad you had a merry christmas,
I'm still using my old tv's with converter boxes, they just won't quit working.

my take on the helicopter thingy, as I was wondering too, but this last time I think they weren't sure where this place was and were looking, when they were heard,

and earlier when they did a ground assault on Pablo, when they got there no one was there,

but any way, a key thing here is, I think that machine gun mounted in the door of the helicopter, like they used in Vietnam, I think it is powerful enough that they can sit outside of the small arms fire range and still pick off the bad guys, because it seems with the hundreds of guns being fired at them, rarely does anyone in the helicopter get wounded, something the genius Pablo has failed to remedy.

LA MARIPOSA

novelera - I need your help in translating starting from 56:47 (you can forward using the cursor), please. just what she said before he he asked about the butterfly tattoo.

I am so bummed this particular scene was censored. I was so looking forward to it on my big screen tv.

LA MARIPOSA

ooops... here's the link

http://www.novelasfacebook.com/la-mariposa-capitulo-11/

LA MARIPOSA

Shallowgal, when I went to that site, it said I needed to download something to watch the episode. I'd really rather not do that.

And I delete episodes as soon as I watch them.

Sorry.

LA MARIPOSA

hi novelera. try playing 'opcion 2.' I don't have to download anything. i hope it works. thanks for trying.

LA MARIPOSA

Shallowgal, I tried your "Option 2" and I was able to see the video without downloading anything.

Here's what I heard:

Alicia: I never thought this would happen to me.
Amaury: What do you mean?
Alicia: Being here like this with another man, a man who isn't my husband.

Hope that helps!

Feliz año nuevo a todos! Enjoy your new toy, Novelera. It's so great that your son gave you something fun that you probably couldn't quite bring yourself to buy (because the TV you had was *perfectly good*). :)

LA MARIPOSA

Thanks, NovelaMaven, for helping Shallowgal. Unlike my old TV, my computer is only one year old. I'm trying to keep it fast and free of unnecessary programs.

Boy, you got me on the "perfectly good" line! I may live in the San Francisco Bay Area, but my Northern Ohio upbringing by very frugal parents is veeery deep seated.

Novelera --

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Takes one to know one!

LA MARIPOSA

muchisimas gracias, NovelaMaven y novelera!! I figured that's what she said, but I just wanna make sure I didn't miss anything.

wishing you all a safe, happy, prosperous new year!

EL SECRETARIO - Episode 87 - Jan. 2, 2013:

Felix and Paula have a spat in his townhouse. She storms out shouting that she will indeed look for another man to love.

Felix immediately calls his lawyer, who is walking outside the prison gate. The lawyer assures Felix that he is going to be meeting with Don Omar and make the request personally.

Emilio and Castillo are in Mario's office. Mario yells and orders Castillo to give Emilio the credit/money that he needs. Castillo runs away like a scared puppy dog. Emilio smiles and thanks Mario for the help. Mario starts to flirt with Emilio. Emilio is very uncomfortable and moves away from Mario. Mario reminds him that he is now Mario's secretary. Emilio quickly escapes from the office.

Paula is frustrated as she starts her car and drives away.

Aguirre and Conde have their midmorning coffee gossip break.

Lawyer meets with Don Omar at the prison.

Yensy and Olga have their pow-wow in the ladies' restroom. Yensy refuses to allow Olga to sit down - Olga is still her secret slave. Olga uses double talk to get Yensy to at least let her sit down.

Nelson the new worker interrupts Aguirre and Conde's coffee conversation. He starts talking about how to be a macho man; then starts to talk about Toni. Conde scolds Nelson for not showing more respect for Toni and Felix and every couple in the office.

Toni is still at the psychiatrist's office. She talks with the secretary about making a new appointment. The secretary leaves as Toni answers her cell phone. It's Emilio. He wants to know when to make an appointment. Toni thinks it is with him; he says it's with a florist. She is almost relieved as she tells him to make it for later.

Olga walks up to Emilio who is busy working at his desk. She wants to go to lunch. He isn't hungry. She pouts and he caves.

Mario walks into the office area and is visibly upset not to see Emilio at his desk or in the office.

At lunchtime in the office cafeteria, Yensy is eating with Aguirre and Conde. Nelson wants to join them but is forced by his mommy to eat with her. He scolds her for treating him like a little boy in the office. She is upset with his attitude. He tries to make her understand (he's a grown man; he wants to make friends; he doesn't think the ladies will want anything to do with him if he is always with his mommy.)

Lawyer and Don Omar are discussing Felix's request - the abduction of Emilio Romero. Don Omar needs a photo so his men won't make a mistake. Lawyer becomes nervous and agitated as he leaves the table.

Olga and Emilio are walking along the sidewalk. They stop at a business. Emilio isn't sure about the place and tries to stop Olga from entering. Olga goes inside anyway. Emilio stands outside, looking very worried.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Can somebody explain the whole Luis/Camilo thing?

Wasn't Luis pretending to be Camilo, pretending to be Luis? I'm confused!

Thanks,

Cindy

CORAZON VALIENTE:

I stopped watching this tn a while ago, but have so appreciated the recaps that keep me updated on this crazy plot. Many thanks to you recappers. I plan on setting my dvr to record these last episodes. I'm sure it will be a wild ride till the very end.

Off Topic:
RG, who sometimes comments on Caray, did a Best of 2012/Worst of 2012 List for the tns and tn actors we saw this year on all the US Spanish networks. Some of our faves from Televisa/Uni (AB, LQNPA, Refugio) and Telemundo (Flor Salvage, Mariposa, Escobar) make the best of list, and the worst of list is amusing: http://www.welovesoaps.net/2013/01/best-worst-telenovelas-2012.html#more

Off Topic:

thanks Vivi in DC for the link to welovesoaps.net.

I've been reading RG's reviews in the recent months, and thus far, I agree with almost all of what he/she's written. Especially "Worst Telenovelas of the Year," and choice lead actors both from La Mariposa.

I would watch Las Detectivas y El Victor w/ Gregorio Pernía on MundoFox, but it doesn't air with English captions.

Off Topic:

You're welcome shallowgal. I enjoy reading RG's reviews as well.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Cindy, this is how I remember it.

Luis had dark hair and was bad to the bone. When the show started Ángela was married to him. He didn't come to her graduation from nursing college and punched her when she complained. This was the last straw. She broke it off with him.

Of course, like all baddies, he was still obsessed with his wife and wanted her back. The Reptile (Fernanda del Castillo) hired him, slept with him multiple times, and plotted with him. He was her go-to guy for mayhem.

Meanwhile, his inexplicably blonde twin was living in México. The twin is named Camilo. He showed up in LA. Some guys that Luis had made enemies of (can't remember why) bombed his vehicle. We thought he was a crispy critter, but he somehow got away from the pickup truck, dyed his hair, and pretended to be his good twin brother so he could re-appear, see his daughter, Violeta, whom he really did love, and stalk Ángela.

Much later Camilo went to the Reptile and told her that Luis was alive and had kidnapped Juan Manuel Arroyo to kill him out of jealously for JM's relationship with Ángela. The Reptile and Camilo went to the parking garage and she shot Luis before he could harm JM.

Then only Camilo was left alive. But he dyed his blonde hair black and pretended to be Luis to help Gus and Miguel Valdez try to trap Bernardo del Castillo in a drug deal.

The trap didn't work. But for a long time del Castillo thought that Camilo WAS Luis. He found out the truth, can't remember how, and has been out to kill Camilo ever since for stealing his wife, Clara.

They have never explained why his hair remains black.

Corazon Valiente / Luis:
Novelera, I seem to recall early on Camilo said he dyed his hair blonde to make himself as different as possible from his evil twin.
Of course, I am still not 100 percent convinced that Luis is dead.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Miércoles, Part 1

The young hostage Ronald yells for help for Diana, and the police find them. Diana is airlifted to get medical attention. But it's too late. She dies. At first, Nidia, her husband and Alberto hear that she was released. But then the President gives Nidia the shocking news. We then get another sad montage, starting with the actors, switching to pictures of the real Diana, and her family. We see clips of the happy reporters as they had set out on their quest to interview that leftist leader, which of course never happened. The actress playing Diana looks uncannily like the real woman. It's almost more than I can bear. Especially the pictures of the real Nidia. How can this have happened? Person after person killed. Senselessly. And all because of that pig, Escobar.

The police report that only four hostages are still being held: Maruja, Berenice, Fermán and Carmina (we know they're wrong about Carmina).

Pablo is furious as usual. He reams out Candonga, the orders were clear, if any police show up, all hostages are to be killed immediately. Candonga says it's hard to communicate with the guards (remember, they're not using the satellite phones anymore). Marino says he'll beef up security for the remaining hostages. Pablo again questions Buitre if he really killed Carmina, and Buitre swears he killed that old lady (cucha). Candonga thinks he knows what's going on. This Chusco guy Armando was really close to Poncho. And he borrowed $7,500 from him. He was asking everyone in the neighborhood for cash. And now he's disappeared. I bet he's working with the cops. Buitre adds that there are no more hostages in Medellín, the rest are in Bogotá, and that Armando would have no idea of the hideouts in Bogotá. Pablo gets out his little book. What's that guy's last name?

Cut to Armando talking to the cop he was helping. Armando wants protection, that was our deal. But the cop says I never made any deal. I wouldn't deal with scum like you. Pabon and Aguirre see this. They watch as the cop kicks Armando out of the police school grounds. He's on his own now.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Part 2

Fermán's father, Dr. Santana, editor of El Tiempo, calls Daniel Bedoya to tell him the Extraditables have sent a new letter. In it, Pablo blames the “criminal police”, who “tortured” one of our “militants” to give up the location of the hostages. The Extraditables also gave the order to execute Carmina Bedoya, and this was done two days ago. Bedoya breaks down. We then see that with this news, Carmina's body is found, but this is small comfort to his family. Maruja and Berenice don't hear this because they've been cut off from news, but they strongly suspect Carmina is dead. The black guard comes in, has chest pains, and collapses from a possible heart attack.

Germán debates with Pablo, the decree is clear, no extradition. Pablo doesn't believe it for a minute. If you want, go join your brothers. But I don't trust the government. Once we turn ourselves in, they'll change the decree. Or a new president would change things. We're waiting for the Constitution to be changed. That's when we'll turn ourselves in. Meanwhile, we'll continue killing, kidnapping whatever it takes.

Armando visits Mireya again. He tells her he needs some protection, but if she can't help with that, the $7,500 would help clear his name. Oh,is that all you need, she asks slyly. You didn't do anything else that would make, let's say, Candonga, look for you? What? Escobar's people are looking for me?!! The doorbell rings. It's Topo and Buitre. They take Armando out, talk to him for about 10 seconds, put on the silencer, and plug his body with lead.

Lawyer Patarroyos exits his apartment and is ushered into Pablo's car. He's shaking like a leaf as Pablo tells him to be the go between again. He tries to say no, but you can't really say no to Pablo Escobar, who agrees to release one more hostage. Patarroyos tells the government leaders one more hostage is going to be released. But who? It's not Fermán. It's.......

GENERAL

As I posted after Friday’s recap, I would be willing to recap Monday nights of La Patrona. But, if we don’t have any other volunteers, one night per week doesn’t make much sense. I’m asking again, in case the request wasn’t noticed the first time. Without others to help out, I won’t be recapping any Telemundo novelas starting next Tuesday, January 8. Jean is also taking a break.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – MIÉRCOLES – Part 1

Miggy can't believe what Cecilia has told him and says he thought the Reptile lost her child and couldn’t have others after the fall down the stairs. Cecilia tells him the child was born, is named María Fernanda del Castillo, and is JM’s child also.

In Switzerland, the Reptilita comes in to a sitting room with Lucy, Jr., draped over her arm. We can see that the other students there don’t like her. She looks briefly at the blonde’s coffee cup.

Miggy can’t believe that Cecilia kept quiet about the girl.

The blonde rubs it into Reptilita that “Paul” asked her to the dance. She tells her it’s a shame that even with Reptilita’s face, hair, and body, none of this does her a bit of good. It looks like the same thing is happening to this girl as happened to the Reptile, being an outcast. The “dreamboat” Paul walks right past Reptilita and goes straight toward the blonde Mean Girl. Smirking at Reptilita, she puts her sugar cube into her coffee!

Cecilia tells Miggy that the girl has been alone in the school the whole time. D8D doesn’t know her and never went to see her once in 17 years. Miggy asks if the Reptile knows, and Ceci says that she went into a coma and D8D took the child. She never knew she had a baby. [Now this is patently ridiculous. I don’t know about the rest of the women watching this show, but my body wasn’t exactly the same after having a full-term baby!]

In Switzerland, the Mean Girl clutches her stomach in pain, while the other students run for help.

At Casa Verdugo the Reptile tells D8D she wants him to make his peace with NB. She is hoping to be NB’s baby’s godmother!

At D8D’s former apartment, Sam is face to face with Lady. “New year, new life!”, she says. She doesn’t let Lady say a word. She tells Lady she admits that Lady is pretty. She tells Lady she threw herself at Willy and, of course, Willy is not the one to resist.

Miggy tells Willy about the kid in Switzerland. It kind of adds up for Willy. He says his sister was in a coma for a year and no one was allowed to visit her. [Oh, boy!]

Ángela appears to be in charge at the all-woman bodyguard agency. Someone brings in a letter and a box for Samantha from “Dr Montoya”.

The Reptile is knitting! She says she wants to make the ajuar (layette) for NB’s baby. She tells D8D, who had asked her if she was drunk, if he wants to be the godfather, especially since he was better at that than being a father. D8D tells her how much he hates NB. She gets up and puts a knitting needle to his throat, telling him not to mess with her “amiga”.

Well, the Mean Girl died, along with my hopes that maybe Reptilita is redeemable. The headmaster tells the group of students that they don’t know how acid could have gotten into the sugar, but they’ll find out. He says everyone loved Mean Girl, but he knows that Reptilita wasn’t her friend. She pretends to feel so badly about what happened and moves closer to Paul, holding on to his arm.

Sam has arrived at the agency, and Ángela gives her the box. Inside is the religious medal he gave her before. His letter is very poetic. He says they are saying goodbye to each other. Samantha is like an iman that attracts him. Even though they’re polar opposites, there may be an attraction. The medal is to help her along the life path he wishes he could have shared with her. He describes her as a “hurricane” in his life. Sam: “THIS man has value. Not like Willy, who went back to doing what he did before.”

Lady tells Willy about Sam finding her in the apartment, just out of the shower. He says maybe it’s for the best she think they’re involved.

JM comes to thank Cecilia for saving Ángela’s life. [This is the scene they cut.] He tells her about his cancer. Then the Reptile calls JM, asking if he thinks of their child ever. Cecilia overhears JM’s end of the conversation: “We have no baby!”

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – MIÉRCOLES – Part 2

Miggy has brought Fabiola to a house I guess he’s bought. Looks pretty palatial for an unemployed ex-Mexican cop. There isn’t any furniture. She’s overjoyed.

Sam approaches Jesús, asking him not to leave. She isn’t sure if she’s doing him any favors since she’s confused, but she wants to give the two of them a chance. He moves in for a kiss.

Willy calls the agency to ask Ángela why Sam isn’t picking up her cell. Ángela tells him that maybe she’s sticking her nose in, but Willy needs to wake up. Get rid of that woman in your house or Sam will go be with the doctor and you’ll be suffering.

Laura tells Angie that Jessica hardly ever talks. We see Gus and Nicolás trying to get through to her. She finally says that she’s afraid to talk. Her father EV protected her, and now he’s gone.

Jesús goes back to the car. Gigante is at the wheel. Sam cannot see that NB and Ringo are in the back seat. He tells Ringo to take NB to Colombia.

JM tells Génesis he’s ill, but not how bad it is. After she leaves the room, some of his hair starts to come out.

After Gigante drives off, Sam and Jesús kiss and, of course, Willy appears. He sarcastically asks if this is another trick being played. Is there a camera around? Sam tells him it’s not a joke; it’s reality.

Ringo is impressed by EM getting Sam. NB is not pleased by this. She says something about his taking her “gift” to the plane. And the next thing we see is Miggy and FF’s new house swarming with thugs. Miggy shoots a couple of them, but says they need to call the DEA.

Willy continues to applaud and make sarcastic remarks. Sam says “Enough!” She tells him she’s sick of his not letting her live her life. She’s sick of his not liking her work. She’s sick of his throwing women in her face and moving them into his house. Willy tells her that what happened with Lady was a misunderstanding. Sam says she doesn’t believe him just like he didn’t believe her. Their relationship is full of misunderstandings. She wants him to leave her in peace. She walks off. EM approaches Willy and, not in an unkind way, tells him “I told you not to leave her alone.”

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – MIÉRCOLES – Part 3

While the Reptile and D8D are snarking at each other, she asks about Clara. We then see Clara with the madam who looks like a drag queen hovering over her. The DQ tells Clara the clients are complaining. She has to be more enthusiastic. Oh no! She injects her with something. We then see D8D tell the Reptile what Clara is doing. Some fairly repulsive guy approaches Clara, and she hallucinates that it’s Camilo.

A lot more guys show up at Miggy’s new house. He gets pushed down the stairs and off they go with Fabiola. Sigh. I’m veeery tired of the kidnappings.

We next see Miggy in the hospital with a cervical collar. Loathsome Lagos is there and tells Miggy to calm down. Miggy tells Gus they took Fabiola. He’s sure it was D8D and Matamoros. OK, Miggy is a hopeless chauvinist. He never seems to figure out that NB is the real evil one.

Sam is at “Doctor Montoya’s”. He gives her some herbal tea. The scene with Willy has her very upset. He begins to massage her neck and shoulders and tells her she will no longer be his bodyguard; she’ll be his novia.

Willy comes whining to his mother. “I lost her. This time I really lost her. It’s definite. She feels something for that guy. I know it. You should have seen her: altiva, segura (haughty, sure of herself). She didn’t feel any guilt. She was proud to say it to my face. I have to let her go” Then he tells Nora about María Fernanda in Switzerland.

Miggy has three broken ribs. Willy comes in and says he needs to tell Ángela something. It’s about Swiss Miss.

EM has had Gigante fetch Lady. We get another of those “you don’t love me” scenes from her. This time she says the only one who could make her forget him is ….. wait for it …. Guillermo del Castillo.

The “bad seed” is on the stairs at the private school, writing “Paul” and a heart in a notebook. The headmaster tells her that the cops want to talk to her because she’s the number one suspect in the death of the girl whose name they never tell us.

Saintly Ángela immediately says that Reptilita ought to be with JM, with her family. But she wonders if JM is ready to face this in his current condition.

Fabiola has been teleported to Casa Verdugo in Colombia. NB has also been brought there blindfolded. The Reptile is overjoyed to see NB, and holds up a pair of booties she knitted.

Sam tells EM she feels terrible about the kidnapping of Fabiola. She says they are ruining the life of her brother and his woman and baby. She swears by her children’s lives that she’s going to search land and sea until she finds Jesús Matamoros and she’ll kill him without pity. Said Jesús’s eyebrows reach his hairline.

Reptilita tells the cop who’s come to talk to her that she’s lived her whole life in the school and has had no contact with her family. Her grandfather brought her there and pays the tuition, but she’s never seen him.

Willy tells Ángela that his father is a monster.

Reptilita tells the cop that the people at the school are her family, and one doesn’t kill family members. She beams up at him. “Do you think that under this angel face could be a demon?”

Ángela says that JM has a right to know. She tells him the daughter he had with the Reptile is alive.

CORAZON VALIENTE

Thank you very much for your recaps.

So what is it 3 more episodes to see FF kidnapped, rescued, and kidnapped again, and to see Miggy hurt, recover in 5 minutes and get hurt again? Don't think I'll miss that.

I can't quite understand why they would introduce a character at this late stage, make her evil and think people will care about it?

All I want to see is Angie take care of the Reptile.

I could not understand the conversation Willy had with his Mom about Sam. It just did not seem to fit his character.

Concerning La Mariposa

I noticed that direct tv started carrying Mundo Fox-I think it started with the new year. I started taping La Mariposa yesterday but obviously need to catch up. The website is up to Episode 13-does anyone know roughly how many episode there are between 14 and yesterday's episode?

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the usual fabolous recap of a truly wacky episode. The Reptile knitting booties?? Her sudden desire to be NB's "madrina" was bizarre. Meanwhile, her evil spawn is already killing people. I suppose FF was kidnapped yet again so that she can tell the Reptile about the baby.
Three more episodes. It seems impossible that they will manage to resolve everything but I'm sure they will.

Corazon Valiente
Novelera and Jean, my sincere thanks to you both for recapping this show; you two really do deserve the award for "Corazones Mas Valientes" for hanging in there for us.
The late breaking "baby news" (little Maria Fernanda) was a big fun surprise! (And at least the Maria Fernanda actress doesn't sling the Lucy actress around like a sack of potatoes...)
J in Oregon

LA MARIPOSA

hello anon. i'd say just about 4episodes. hope you enjoy it.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Novelera. I especially liked "Swiss Miss"!

Yes, the craziness continues. But somehow, they'll wrap it all up. Sam and Willy, JM and Angie, add up to about 1 brain between the four of them. But the stupid cops (Dead Duval and Loopy Lagos) make them look like geniuses! EM may be the smartest character (although he's not the wisest). I'll go with Arturo for that honor.

Too bad Jessica can't talk. I guess she has to wait a few more episodes.

Miggy has broken his ribs before, although maybe it was from a gunshot. So this little setback is nada, he'll be ready to fight by the Gran Final.

I really don't like the storylines where women are forced into prostitution and drugged. The same thing happened to Miggy's former girlfriend (forgot her name), who was killed a while back.

I hope they don't end the story with everyone happy, but then they show Reptilita's cat. That would be so typical. Please writers, no!

Thanks Shallowgirl!

General -- La Patrona recaps:

Novelera, I saw your original post/request. Right now, I'm only doing El Secretario recaps once a week.

If you would like some help, I'd be willing to recap "La Patrona" on Friday nights.

GENERAL

Thanks for your offer, Jody. Maybe by the time La Patrona starts we'll have more volunteers. Just the two of us doesn't quite do it.

And thanks for your recaps of El Secretario. I haven't been watching the novela, but it sounds like it's a lot of fun.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks for all the kind remarks everyone. This novela has actually been fun to recap. Fast moving and zany have been the main characteristics. I've also enjoyed Jean's well-written and insightful recaps. She ALWAYS picks up on the things I miss.

Hombre, I completely agree about the forced into prostitution and drugged stuff. One of the characters in Más Sabe el Diablo spent some time forced into that and addicted to heroin. It was awful. I was so hoping Clara would somehow escape before she had to "do the deed" with any of those repulsive "johns" they've shown.

At this point I can't think of a death cruel enough for D8D. Suggestions, anyone?

LA MARIPOSA

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

death for D8D - throw acid all over him.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Jueves, Part 1

Berenice and Maruja thinks it's ironic that before, they were the only ones who knew Carmina was alive, and now, they're probably the ones ones who don't know. A new guard comes in, who turns out to be the owner of the ranch, tells them that Memin, the black guard, actually died from the heart attack. He's got some other news, Berenice is getting released. And Maruja? No idea.

Pablo gives Topo some money to give to Mireya to thank her for being loyal. Marino has to get nice clothes to go to Bogotá. His job is to make sure the votes in the Constitutional Assembly go their way. He knows the method: Plata or plomo (money or lead). Candonga is assigned to free Berenice.

Alberto and Pascual (I think he's Berenice's husband, even though he's way older) are happy Berenice will get freed (I guess Patarroyos told them), but that still leaves Maruja and Fernán. We then see the ranch owner and his wife with a little cake to celebrate Berenice's release with her. This is bittersweet, because Maruja has to stay. Berenice thinks she looks terrible, should she put on makeup? No, says Marujua, show the press the truth. A guard comes for Berenice, and she says goodbye to Maruja, now all alone in hell.

The guard drops Berenice off, warns her not to tell anyone how long it took to get here, or give any clue as to where you were held, or you know what'll happen to Maruja! Berenice is quickly picked up by a cabbie who recognizes her, her face has been on TV many times. Alberto gets the news, rushes over to see Berenice (his sister) and Pascual hugging. Berenice is in a bit of shock, especially at her appearance, but she wants to talk to Carmina, can she have the phone? Her husband tells her, Carmina was murdered.

The ranch owner brings Maruja food, but she won't eat until he brings TV or radio. We then see Patarroyos telling Alberto and Santana to be patient. The government has to make the next move. Both Santana and Alberto are enraged by this, we've given everything, and that thug has held the hostages almost 6 months! Patarroyos says he's scared. Of what? Of knowing too much.

Germán gives himself up under the decree. The news also announces that right after a bullfight, there was a big explosion and 8 members of the National Police were killed. We see Alberto question Berenice on where the hideout was, but she won't tell, if the wild cops went in, what would happen to Maruja? And General Ulloa agrees. He sternly warns both Pabon and the cop who was working with Armando to stop going wild. Pabon is beside himself, eight of his best men were basically executed, and they can't fight back? Exactly, says Ulloa. We know Armando was killed by them. And look what happened with the rescue attempt of Diana. So, for now, play it cool. The public is watching.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Part 2

Alberto meets with the Motoas in the fairly nice prison in which they're being held. Their sister Irma is also there, as they share a meal. Alberto again asks the brothers for help in contacting Escobar about Maruja. He says if they don't cooperate, things could get worse for them. They say they can't help. But Irma says my brothers can't help you, but maybe my father can. Alberto then meets with Don Julio, the father of the brothers Montoa, at his comfortable estate. Don Julio says he doesn't really know Escobar, and doesn't want to be associated with a criminal. But he does have some advice. You must be a man of your word. Show him you're a gentleman. That's the first step.

A bus is waved through a police roadblock. Onboard, Pablo and all his men laugh at the stupidity of the cops. Pablo addresses a new guy, named Miguelito, who works for the Motoas. He counsels him to stay true to his roots, flatters him by saying he has an advantage in being good looking, unlike Candonga (who's sitting right there). Tell the Motoas, says Pablo, that no matter what they say, if they beg, they give money, they send 36 million Colombians, no matter what, I'm killing Villamizar's wife. That's just non-negotiable. Got it?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - Luis/Camilo

Thanks, Novelera, for explaining the character confusion. I certainly missed the part where Camilo & Reptilia offed Luis! I thought I saw Luis shot Camilo, but it was probably the whole hair thing. Oh, and that whole being in spanish thing, too.

Again, muchisimas gracias!

Cindy

Pablo Escobar -

thanks once again Hombre !!!
for sorting through all of these people and events, and connecting the dots for us, I don't think I would have been able to follow this story without your help.

So smug, Pablo and crew riding around on their nice bus,
So tragic, the kidnappings,
Seems like someone should kidnap Pablo's family, but I guess the good guys wouldn't be good guys then.

who is Villamizar again, anyone?

on another note, I am so ready for Pablo's hairpiece to meet it's end, it seems to have taken on a life of it's own, I hope it doesn't get away before someone can stomp on it.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – jueves – Part 1

[This is probably the last recap of CV that I will do. I have enjoyed this fast-moving novela but after 10 months, I’m ready for it to end. Thanks to Novelera for all her great recaps, to the folks who filled in when I was on vacation and to all the commenters.]

Upon being told that the child he conceived with the Reptile was actually born and is living in Switzerland, JM utters the classic novela line, “no puede ser,” “it can’t be…” He tells Willy that his life could have been so different. He would have married the Reptile, given his name to the kid. The Reptile would have been an angel. Willy says that the fault is D8D’s who turned the Reptile into a demon and left the kid alone. JM wants to meet the kid before he dies.

In Switzerland, police guy demands that school guy tell him who Maria Fernanda’s (MF) grandfather is. It’s a matter of murder. School guy says, “Bernardo del Castillo.” MF is listening.

Sam tells EM that she believes that FF was kidnapped at D8D’s order with Jesús Matamoros’ help. She concludes that D8D and Jesús Matamoros must be friends. EM immediately denies this and then covers his mistake by saying that people like Jesús Matamoros don’t associate with people like D8D. Sam continues to pour out her venom against drug trafficers like Jesús Matamoros. She says that they don’t care about love or friendship but are only interested in money. She says that she can’t stand seeing her brother lose his true love and the mother of his child and it’s all Jesús Matamoros’ fault.

Ringo tells NB and the Reptile that EM isn’t going to like what they are doing. They don’t care. They bring FF to the same brothel where Clara is and tell the madam to have her work night and day. The Reptile tells FF that she doesn’t consider her to be JM’s sister.

Miggy wants to leave the hospital but Willy and Gus say no. Gus says that the police are checking flights and borders but Miggy rightfully has no confidence in the police.

EM is pi**ed that NB has put him in the middle again. He calls Gigante and tells him to follow Miggy.

NB tells the Reptile that she is happy to have gotten rid of FF. She imagines that EV is spinning in his grave.

Once again, EM tries to send Lady away but she wants to stay with him even if she ends up dead.

NB tells her “amiga,” the Reptile, that Miggy will come looking for FF and she will make him hers.

Between clients, Clara is allowed to see FF. She tells FF, “welcome to hell.”

Miggy leaves the hospital against medical advice as they say. He entrusts Alma to Nora’s care.

Then Gus lets Miggy “escape” from his custody.

JM tells Angie that he is taking a break from his treatment to go to Switzerland to see MF. Angie insists on going with him.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – jueves – Part 2

Having heard her grandfather’s name, MF does some Google searching and finds entries on D8D. She also finds the videos that the Reptile did when she was holding JM including when she talks about getting pregnant, being pushed down the stairs and killing the person she thought did it. In spite of the fact that the Reptile clearly believes that she lost her baby, MF concludes that the Reptile is her mother.

The Reptile dreams that JM is dead. She kisses his corpse and tells Génesis that she will raise her. Then she wakes up and wonders if the dream was a message from her mother.

FF gets her first client at the brothel – Ringo. With the madam present, he says that he wants to see what made EV fly.

Willy comes on to Sam.

EM comes to see Miggy and they both point guns at each other. EM denies that he abduced FF. “Then who?” asks Miggy.

Ringo asks the madam for some privacy and tells FF that he wants to get her out of the brothel but can’t right now because he would be killed. He says that he wants to protect her. She asks why and he replies that she is still EV’s woman to him.

Sam asks Willy if he wants an unforgettable goodbye “despedida”. Then she hits him and tells him to make love to Lady.

EM and Miggy agree to lower their guns have a drink. EM tells Miggy that when FF disappeared, neither the Reptile nor D8D were in LA. Miggy asks if NB did it. EM replies that it probably was NB and that FF is now in Colombia.

Ringo tells FF that she is lucky to be protected by EV, EM and him. He says that he is an honest guy and doesn’t mess with his brother’s woman but if she weren’t, he’d like to rape her.

EM tells Miggy that NB’s baby might be his or Miggy’s.

Ringo pays the madam and says that FF is “intocable,” “untouchable.” He says that she can dance in the club but no drugs and no sex with clients.

The Reptile has gone to see Doña Piedad. DP says that the Reptile’s daughter is far but close. She will clean the Reptile’s soul and change her destiny. The Reptile asks if she means Génesis. The Reptile tells DP that she wants her daughter to be the angel that she never was.

Meanwhile back in Switzerland, MF watches the videos and sympathizes with the Reptile. She says that she hates JM.

Sam comes to see EM and tells him that she wants to be his. She wants a new life and a new guy. She wants EM to help her forget her past. EM tells her that he will give her all she deserves: love, passion, everything. She takes off her shirt. Then EM wakes up and realizes it that it was a dream. Sam is at the door.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – jueves – Part 3

Lady goes to see Willy and tells him that she is quitting the modelling agency to return to her country. She tells him that she came and seduced him as part of EM’s plan to make Sam jealous. She says that she is in love with EM but he is crazy in love with Sam. Willy introduces Lady to Nic and Jéssica gets that deer in the headlights look again.

EM takes Sam to a restaurant.

Gus and Laura give Miggy false papers to travel to Colombia. Miggy tells them that a friend of Sam’s is going to fly him there. Miggy and Gus wonder about whether Camilo is dead or alive. They’ve heard nothing.

FF tells Clara that she must be worried not knowing about Camilo’s fate. Clara replies that Camilo is frequently with her embracing and encouraging her. Then Clara has to go service clients again. [So FF in intocable and Clara has to prostitute herself. There’s no further suggestion that Clara is pregnant. I’m getting a bad feeling here that Clara and Camilo aren’t going to make to the happy ending.]

NB tells Ringo that EV is dead, EM doesn’t matter, he has to obey her. Ringo tells NB that EM is asking about FF. NB tells him to lie to EM. D8D comes in and asks about FF. In response, NB asks about Clara. D8D tells her that Clara is dead but she didn’t suffer.

The Reptile comes in with brown hair. She has planned a big wedding in the pueblo. Ringo asks who she is planning to marry and she replies that she is going to marry him!

Sam tells EM that she wants to go to his place and learn to love again. Sam gets a call from Miggy saying that he is having a trouble leaving the country. She tells EM that Jesús Matamoros may not be at fault in the kidnapping of FF but he is still a bad guy. She arranges to meet EM later in his apartment.

JM and A are teleported to MF’s school in Switzerland. JM tells the school guy that he is MF’s father.

FF is dancing at the club at the brothel with NB, the Reptile and D8D watching. D8D tells the madam that he wants FF. The madam says that she is not available but D8D offers a lot of money to get her in his bed. [Having FF do a pole dance in a scanty bikini was not a great way to protect her from horny guys.]

Miggy is about to board a plane at the airport when he stopped by Loathsome Lagos. [I thought he was going on a private plane.]

Jessie has been struck mute again but she finally tells Willy that she saw EM at Willy’s house.

Sam is at EM’s place. He tells her that the wants to love and kiss her all night but he has to tell her a secret first. She guesses that he is married or has another girlfriend. Then EM tells her that he is Jesús Matamoros.

PABLO ESCOBAR

Deb, couldn't agree more about Hombre connecting the dots for us, helping to keep this story straight.

Alberto Villamizar, a well-known politician very close to the President of the Republic, Cesar Gaviria, was Maruja's husband and Berenice's brother. (And remember that Maruja herself was Gloria Galván's sister.)

Villamizar had been a member of the Cámara (like the House of Representatives) but at the time of these events, I don't think he was in any official office. He was respected as an campaign advisor and strategist, a guy who knew how to get things done.

Is that what you were asking?

Pablo Escobar -

so Villamizar's wife is Maruja, ah, I just wasn't making that connection.
(in regard to Pablo's threat)

thanks so much NoveMaven!

Corazon Valiente -

thanks so much Jean for your recaps !!!
206 chapters total, wow, and so many twists and turns,
and so helpful to me that you and novelera are so good with the details,
it has really enriched this story for me.

wow, JM and Angela, postponing the treatments that could save JM's life, so that he could meet the daughter he didn't know he had, you just have to feel sorry for this couple sometimes, quietly and with the best of intentions, on their way to yet another train wreck.

Fabiola seems to have honed her dancing skills,
as an untouchable at the internado for young drugged ladies.

I guess this show wouldn't be complete without seeing D8D drooling over yet another forbidden romance, even life in a wheel chair was way to good for this guy.

and Camilo...

I enjoyed Sammi explaining to Willy that she is not a prostitute, accented with a punch,
but I don't like her with the deceptive EM,
it will be interesting to see how this plays out, now that he has revealed himself.

so I was thinking EM and Miggy would travel together to Colombia together to sort things out, no, then I thought maybe Camilo would join him, no, and now it looks like even Miggy won't be going. (so what happened to his ankle bracelet?)

so which of these characters will survive the gran final?

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Jean for another super recap, and thanks for all the terrific summaries you've brought us.

I like how quickly Miggy healed. From a neck brace and broken ribs to perfectly fine in one day. He's superman, but not super in traveling to Colombia (except the last 5 times he did it). Can't he just find that handy teleporter?

Fabiola sure does have the figure for that dancing. She seems far from that wild jungle girl we met not so long ago.

Finally EM reveals himself. It's almost unimaginable how Sam must feel, after falling for all of this guy's phony stuff for all these months. Yes, EM showed his guts and honor to do it. But it's un poco tarde, as they say.

I really hate the whole thing with the Reptile's daughter. I can't see any way I'll going to like the outcome. Writers, please prove me wrong!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Terrific recap, Jean. You went out with a bang!

La Niña Bonita is apparently using the same twisted logic that her “amiga”, the Reptile, has been using during the whole novela: Kill (or make prisoner in a brothel) your rival and the object of your affections will automatically turn to you.

I am really loving Miguel Varoni as Jesús Matamoros in this novela. I have only seen him before in villain roles. To me he’s sexier than any other man in the cast. I love the humor, also, as when he said his arm was getting tired holding it on Miggy. And they keep throwing in nose references because of his rather pronounced proboscis. Last night his character said they were within una nariz of finding Fabiola. I'm pretty sure Willy has called him narizón at least once.

I have very little respect left for Willy. He rejected Sam over and over again but, when he thinks she has a new man in her life, wants to “mark his territory”.

It didn’t make much sense that the cop had to know whose granddaughter Reptilita was, except it was the excuse to have her overhear the name of said jerk. Of course she’s going to rage at JM and Ángela when they meet her and not believe anything they say.

I thought that Ringo said that, if FF hadn’t been his brother’s woman, he’d have made her the happiest woman alive – not raped her.

Doña Piedad is a very poor medium, at least for Viewerville. She never really tells the person whose palm she’s reading what they really need to know!

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks, Hombre and thank you for your wonderful recaps of Pablo Escobar. I don't comment because I usually only watch the show until the the credits start but I read them all.

I know what you mean about the Reptile's daughter. The Reptile has to end up paying for her crimes. Maybe she reforms and dies saving MF but MF is a murderer!

CORAZON VALIENTE-
Thanks, Novelera.
You are right about what Ringo told FF. I heard "violar" instead of "volar."

I agree about Miguel Varoni. He is so good and good looking.

I like Ringo, too. He's cute and loyal but he's killed a bunch of people...

It's hard to imagine Willy and Sam getting back together without her having to eat a lot of humble pie and admit that Willy was right all along. I would prefer it if they could get back together on equal terms again.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE:

I haven’t really been following this properly due to time issues and lack of interest, but… I guess I’ve seen enough and can fill in some blanks thanks to recaps. Kudos to you two for sticking with this and providing the recaps! Only a few eps to go… so I thought I’d comment, before it’s over…

I wasn’t shocked by the reveal of JM and Fernanda’s kid, but I didn’t expect it… It doesn’t make sense, but it is something this novela would do. I can’t see how they’re going to solve this quickly… have her stuck in a mental institution and give her time to possibly be redeemed in the far future?

Sam used to be my favourite character so it’s a little weird how much I loathe her now. I still want her and Willy together in the end, because... I don’t know. They don’t seem to work anymore, they don’t trust each other and believe other people over each other… and then there is the ridiculous jealousy. To be fair, Willy has been correct in assuming that the men have (had) no good intentions in mind, but he has been quite immature in dealing with it… and Sam should be in therapy. Also, I cringe every time Sam hits Willy or threatens to kill him. Just because she’s a woman, doesn’t make it okay. Bleh. (To be fair… her anger was more warranted this time.)

After forgiving Sam again and again, Willy broke up with her for the right reasons and instead of trying to remedy the situation and correct her mistakes, she thinks the answer is… sex? Yeah… and YET AGAIN she’s throwing herself at some man, who has been lying to her and tricking her. How about… being independent WITHOUT A MAN and taking care of her CHILDREN and company???Yeah… she can live her “own life”, and apparently her kids have nothing to do with it. The “new man” comes first Gah… I just can’t stand this pathetic woman anymore… She is paranoid, hostile, vindictive, selfish, self-absorbed… and SO stupid. I doubt she’ll actually kill EM like she promised, but I hope she’ll let him have it. (It would be nice if she’d also recognise her own stupidity and mistakes… but I’m not that hopeful)
And Willy… once he’s broken up with someone… he really shouldn’t be throwing out accusations of “cheating” or trying to dictate anything. (Although Sam DID do the exact same thing.. and couldn’t stand Willy with other women, despite her getting married to another man). He’s been really mean to her lately as well, although it pales in comparison to Sam’s previous actions…
Well, I guess if I can stomach JM and Angie together again after all the crap they went through, Sam and Willy have hope.

I probably can’t ever like Clara, but I like her and Camilo together. I too am a little worried. Indeed, if there were a baby on the way, we could be sure that they’d get a happy ending, but now I’m not sure.

This novela started so well… portraying strong women, but they’re reduced to whining about their men, getting tricked/manipulated/saved/getting raped or almost raped by other men and instead of being part of the action, they get to be objectified. Could the last few episodes have the women take down the bad guys? Miggy is cool with his special powers and all, but others should get the chance to shine as well.

At least: Yay for Gustavo and Laura! They’re among the few characters that have remained likeable despite a few lapses and I’m glad that they found each other again after dealing with some issues. It’s also realistic that they might have fallen in love and had relationships with other people. Heck, they have treated each other a lot better than the others have their “one true loves”.

On D8D… I probably won’t be satisfied with his downfall. Death is not enough… I think he should suffer for the last few episodes.

Phew. Sorry for the rant. This novela has its good points and I have enjoyed how ridiculous and over the top it has been. I just wish that the characters hadn't been destroyed.

LA MARIPOSA

This novela just gets better and better. I must admit I'm fairly confused about the technicalities of who's moving money where and who's moving drugs where, but I'm letting go of my deep-seated need to understand things and just going with the flow!

I am enjoying the performance of Alejandro Calva, who is playing "General" Vasquez. I wondered if he was perhaps Colombian and putting on a Mexican accent. But he is Mexican, a classically trained theater actor who played Oscar Wilde in a DF production of Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. This is a very good play that I saw in San Francisco years ago.

Of course, in Colombian novelas they usually sprinkle the dialog so liberally with Mexican slang when the Mexican characters speak that it's actually funny.

I'm sure that Calva doesn't speak like a narco in real life! He was also great as "Batman" Güemes in La Reina del Sur.

All the actors in this novela are good, not a speck of overacting to be found.

Last night's cliffhanger was almost unbearable. I can hardly wait until 9 pm to watch it!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Kihaku, rant away! Nice to hear from you again, and you make many good points.

LA MARIPOSA

yes, novelera. 'not a speck of overacting' is right. this show is on the top of my list.

I thought it amusing when Agt Laurens was talking to Altagracia in a bar about being in love; romantic music was playing in the background, then she says Martinez's name, and all of a sudden, the music went flat.
