Por ella soy Eva #113 12/27/12: Helena rechaza el regalo

I am away in a strange land (Connecticut) where Univision apparently doesn't believe in closed captions, and so this is a translation of Televisa's synopsis of this capitulo...

The employees that have been rehired thank Eva for all she has done for them.  Helena looks at Eva with admiration and congratulates her.  Eva says that she only did what anyone would have done in her position.

Rebeca complains to see the sad faces of Jennifer and Kevin and tells them the one thing they can't do is accuse her to their parents because she is telling them the truth (her version, always skewered in her favor).  Jennifer assures her they will say nothing and thanks her for telling them the truth.

The employees comment that not only have they returned to work, but also programs have been implemented to help single mothers and to train older people.  Helena is much surprised to learn all Eva did.  Eva gets embarrassed and says it's only part of a plan that Grupo Imperio is going to implement.

Lucia tells Santiago that she and Renato have definitely cut things off, when Renato comes in and interrupts them.  Lucia leaves to avoid Renato, and Santi looks at him with disapproval.

Helena tells Eva that she feels very ashamed for having mistrusted her so many times, but now she is completely sure that she would never betray her and that Helena can count on her for anything.  Eva feels miserable to hear that.

Cindy is telling Santiago that the administration spoke of a very large debt which he has to pay off, when Angelica calls him to arrange a meeting to talk.

Marcela confronts Rebeca saying that she has invented the story that she and Fernando were having an affair.  She accuses Rebeca of robbing the agency and says that someday she will get to the truth of what she did.  Rebeca retorts that she will not lower herself by discussing this with a "lombricienta" and kicks her out of her office.

Adriano tells Eva that he is gratefully surprised by all the revolutionary measures she has implemented in the agency, and that only makes him love her more.  Eva feels guilty.

Juan Carlos asks Helena to give him the report she did.  She accepts on the condition that they not talk about other things that don't have to do with proving his innocence.  JC, defeated, accepts her condition.  Later, JC returns the report to Helena, who is short with him and goes to return to her office.  He stops her and gives her a little box like the one he gave he gave her before, saying he bought it the day they met again in Playa Majagua.  It brings back memories for Helena and she looks at JC full of feeling.

Daniel manipulates Jennifer, telling her that he loves her more than her parents do because he would never lie to her.

Helena refuses JC's gift and yells at him that he is putting her in a very difficult position for having to lie to so many people including Plutarco.  JC tells her that she could never love Pluto like she loves him, that deep down she continues to love JC the same, and that she wants to make a family together.  Helena, moved, fights not to be carried away by her feelings.

Daniel tells Kevin that he is only helping him because he is like his brother-in-law, but after Kevin collects his favor Daniel will soon ask for one in return.  He tells Kevin not to say anything to Jennifer.

Eugenia is desperate because the producer has not called and there have not been more offers of work.  Becker asks if her anxiety is due to her illness.  Eugenia denies it and says that apart from her son, acting is the only thing remaining in her life, not realizing what she just said.

Helena tells JC that it's not possible that he dares to compare himself to Plutarco, because while he has been hiding Pluto has been helping her.  She reminds him that despite the many things that don't fit together, she is making the effort to believe him.  JC responds that she has no reason to doubt him.  She challenges him to tell her where and how he has been living all this time, and what he means when he says he has been near her.

Angelica tells Santiago she wants to come to an agreement with him and only wants one thing to leave him in peace: his motorcycle.  Santiago, with a great sadness, gives in to her.  Angelica says she will sign for a divorce, and rides off on the motorcycle.

JC tells Helena that for the moment he can't tell her anything because he is a fugitive from the law, and the less she knows of him the better.  Helena replies that each time she understands less of what is happening.  JC responds that there will come a time to clarify everything.

Carmen calls Eugenia to tell her that she feels very bad and urgently needs to see her.

Thank you, Bill. Hoo boy, it wasn't easy to feel sorry for Claudia tonight. What a brat!

Angelica riding away on a motorcycle - hmm, Santi just might end up a widower yet.

Additional material: Fernando has another job interview. This time he wears his desperation on his sleeve.

Helena admits to Eva that she still has feelings for Juan. Eva prepares to reveal something to Helena. "Helena, I-" and that's it. And I don't think we got to see anything new in the avances, either! How rude of them, to cut off the episode in the middle of a sentence!

Thanks, Bill for going the extra mile to give us this recap.

That cliff hanger is very provocative but I bet that Eva does not complete that "Helena, yo..." with "soy Juan Carlos" We're rooting for her to come out -- but it probably won't be in this next episode.

Another incomplete sentence was almost an "outing" but Lucia covered nicely. In front of Santi she whined that everything would be ok "if only Renato were not..." Then she caught herself before she completed the sentence. Santi asked "If Renato were not what?" and Lucia thought fast. "If only Renato weren't so good looking .... with those green eyes"

Bill- thank you so much for this excellent recap. So enjoyed this epi. So Helena's scales are not quite off her eyes yet. I wish they were. It will take some shocking revelation for her to see Pluti as he really is, but the great thing was, she did admit to Eva she is still in love with JC yay.

Claudia I hope gets what is coming to her. That hissy fit of hers with the chofer taking Eugenia instead of her. What a little witch. I really hope this prank of hers doesn't send Eugenia over the edge. The agent really thought she has gone over the edge again.

Rebe is getting worse and worse. She should not have told Marcela and Fern's kids what really happened as far as Fern goes. So glad Marcela confronted Rebe and hopefully, Eva will help Marcela and unmask Rebe for what she did.

Kevin looked kinda reluctant to go along with this prank of Eugenia. I hope he doesn't go thru with it, and hate how Jennifer is falling into Daniel's trap. I hope she wakes up too.

I have to give JC credit for his talk with Helena. He is keeping his distance in talking to Helena and not pushing himself on her, not like Pluti does. Even though love the priceless looks Eva gives when hugging Helena, lol. I too don't think Eva is going to out herself to Helena. It is too soon for that.

What in the world does Angie want that motorcycle for? I think it is really the last thing Santi has, it is his only transportation, so she just had to have that. Poor Santi is really in the poor house now. I wish that Lucia and Santi could be roommates that would be such a hoot.

Thanks, Bill, and thanks TJ for yesterday. It's great to have the recaps to rely on 'cuz my schedule is messed up with the holidays.

Claudia is such a mean little witch. It's bad enough for her to mess with Eugenia's mind without corrupting Kevin as well.

Thank you for your recap while in Connecticut! Even though it was nothing new, I liked hearing
Angelica's "Hasta luego, baby" as she drove off on Santi's motorcycle. Hopefully, she really will give him the divorce and leave him alone now to pay off all the bills. I also liked Juan Carlos coming out of the car to address the couple watching him put on his Eva makeup as they were passing by and telling them not to judge him because he was doing it for love. The best part of Fernando's interview was the stuffed wildcat on the shelf above the interviewer's head. I wonder who came up with that idea for the set.

Well, Juan got a mountain-sized serving of hope when Helena told Eva, "As much as I try not to, I still love Juan Carlos with all my soul." And that mountain was smashed to little bits when she added, "I can never, ever trust him again."

And if Juan doesn't admit to being Eva tonight, then that scene ("I can never trust him again") is going to be part of a long montage that will flash before Helena's eyes (and ours) later when she finally finds out the truth. She'll remember all the times he should have spoken up and didn't.

His excuse, that he doesn't want to put HER at risk (because he's a fugitive) by knowing any more than she already does, really doesn't cut it. She already knows enough to be on the hook for abetting a criminal; knowing the rest of the story wouldn't increase her risk. It would, however, increase HIS risk, and I'm sure she'll throw that in his face when the time comes.

As she should! Gaaaah! Seriously, I'm mad at him too, and I'll be even madder if he doesn't tell tonight.

Julie, if Juan tells Helena he's Eva tonight, I'll send you a CASE of Devil Dogs. That's how sure I am that it won't happen. (For those not in the northeast, Devil Dogs were discontinued at the same time as Twinkies.) In fact, if the big reveal comes before #157, (last 10 caps) I'll send you a month's worth of Takis (notice I'm a little less certain of that prediction).

I don't care for Twinkies and I HATE Devil Dogs (I was frightened by one as a small child, no lie).

But it's okay, because I'm as sure as you are that the big reveal won't be tonight anyhow. I'm sure that I will, in fact, be even madder at Juan tonight. And I'll be recapping, too, so I'm going to have to control myself.

(Sigh... Drake's Fruit Pies are what I really miss!)

Sorry for the late post, but thank you Ithabil! Some bummer developments but at least the plot line moves forward.

Well well well well. I'm pleased to report that at least one of my predictions was WRONG!

My recap will probably be late (possibly tomorrow) because I haven't finished today's work yet, so I have to finish that, and then I need to re-watch the episode because I wasn't able to give it my full attention due to aforementioned work and it is a super-action-packed episode so I don't want to just wing it.

Thanks for the recaps. Oh yea Univision has closed captions, if you are looking for the english subtitles it is CC3 don't know if you can get it to work on your tv. I have to set it through my digital box and as always cc1 for spanish.

Love the Devil Dog ....Twinkie bets!! I double devil dog dare ya!! Glad to see folks are having as much fun with this novella as I am. At a Christmas party on Dec 23rd, one of my bff's moms was visiting from Mexico City. Mom said that 'Por Ella Soy Eva' was the *only* telenovela she has watched in years! Gertie

Julie, take your time. There are no telenovelas on Monday anyways, as Uni is showing New Year's Eve stuff. That was a great epi and can't wait to read your great recap about it :)

OK, I've posted the juiciest bits that I caught while I was half-watching. I know I'll want to add more stuff after a proper viewing (well before Tuesday night!), but this ought to do for now...
