I was proud of Juan for being there for his Mom at that the audition. I often find myself forgetting that Eva is really Juan. Hats off to Jaime Camil for playing these two roles so well!!! Eugenia needs support and confidence if she is going to KEEP this acting role.

Helena's meter isn't as advanced as, say, Rebecca's, so she's all over the map with her accusations of Eva. At least Eva /Juan knows that Helena is doing this in Juan's best interest, but think things are gong to get tense between Helena and Eva.

I liked the kiss that Helena gave Juan before she left their special meeting place. Let 's remember, she is still engaged to the shark and needs to be very careful. Maybe she is feeling that she is finally speaking with the real Juan...not Juan Peron, Or Juan Perez, or Juan (was it Contreras?) at the police station, or Juan Valdez...wait that's the coffee guy. Whatever, she loves the dude!

 

Thank you, Tablet Jefa. I completely agree about changing Lucia's name to Estupida. That subplot has run its course and she and her whining are just plain annoying. The best part was Eugenia getting the part and JC/Eva being there for support. It would be great to see her have a life of her own again.

I got the feeling that they left out a bunch of scenes concerning Lucia/Renato/Adriano. How did Adriano get in on this? Whatever, I'm with Jarifa - I'm tired of that whole thing. At least it wasn't more Eduardo/Sylvia stuff.

Love Eugenia. Guess that was worth watching all the lesser goings on.

It's great that Eugenia got the part even though she lost touch with reality for a while during the audition. I can't wait to see bratty Claudia's reaction.

Yes, the kiss on the cheek was sweet -- the best Helena can do as long as she keeps believing that Pluti "no es capaz" of doing something underhanded. Oh if only she knew.

Thank you, TJ. You pointed out the kiss on the cheek, and for me that understated gesture was the highlight of the show. It was a welcome relief from Helena's anger toward Juan. It was a sweet gesture, followed by a well acted response on Camil's part which showed a variety of emotions just on his face.

And you're right, Lucia has become painful to watch. It is too much junior high school, and she's way too old for that. Occasionally she is funny, but I think the actress overacts. What is it with the gesture where she brings both hands to her mouth? It's cute once or twice, but she relies too heavily on it to show distress. Do adults act like this?

The shtick with Eva being interrupted by the phone while getting off the elevator 4 times in a row before she gets to say hello was funny.
 

Hello there Eva blog. I'm a refugee from Refugio, and thanks Jefa for this fulsome recap. From the start, I've kept up with the great funny recaps over here, though my viewing of the actual novela has been sporadic. Hard for me to do two a night. Thanks to all the recappers. What a service!

Jaime Camil does a superb job in making Eva believable. I watched an episode with my non-Spanish speaking hubby and he did not realize, in the restaurant scene with Adriano early this week, that Eva was a man! I enjoy watching Eva so much I want HER in another novela when this one ends. I agree with Itabill ...where JC really shone last night was in the 'getting off the elevator' sequence ... his dignified sashay from the elevator onto the GI floor, interrupted over and over. Could have been boring schtick but instead ... good comedy!

But I did not get the Lucia/Adriano/Cindy/Renato scenes. I agree with Mil in NC's comment ... how was Adriano even in the middle of all that?

Even though I occasionally get irritated at the charactors and the silly things they do, I try to see them through what I consider to be an underlying theme; how much are you willing to change for a relationship, and how much are you willing to let a relationship change you. Por Ella Soy Eva, big change! Lucia, capable to Estupida, Pluti, bad to worse, Don Adri, womanizer to one-woman man...

I so agree with the comment about Jaime Camil's skill at playing these two rolls. Mexican society still seems to be rather male dominated, yet here he is, a Mexican actor, mastering this very complex roll as a woman. That takes courage and an incredible ability as an actor.

I am so enjoying this story!

Love the title, Jefa, to this recap and love the recap too! I am so eager to see the Helena/Juan encounters, so the kiss on the cheek was great! And, yes, the Lucia (hands together at the mouth...what.is.that?? Stop it!) and the Sylvia/Bastardo relationship has gotten old/old/old. Basta! Looking forward to more reconciliation with JC and Helena:-)
