Amor Bravío #111 (Uni 106) Wed 1/23/13 “The Busy Busy Day in the Life of El Pueblo’s DNA ( Dumb Nookie Analysis) Lab”

La MQDining Room:
Honeymoon Hotel: Pablo and Luzma are packing up to go back home to the ranch.  Luzma apologizes to Pablo for ruining the honeymoon.  Pablo consoles her, saying it is not her fault.  Luzma says it is her Tio LeoSordido’s fault, even though he is in jail.
Waiting Room of DNA Lab del Pueblo:  Dio assures Nat that he will give her her proper regard as his daughter.  Nat wonders how Agustina will react and Dio insists that she will just have to accept Nat.  He tells Nat that he was resigned to never have kids, but when he learned she might be his daughter, he was hopeful that it would be true (tener ilusiones).   He promises Nat he will never lie to her or leave her unprotected.  Nat wonders who is lying, Amanda or Dio?  Dio says there is only one way to find out, to go and confront Amanda together.   Yessirree, Nat needs to know and Dio is going to be sure to help her find the truth.

Dining Room at La MQ:  Piedad tells Agustina she has the books that everyone has been looking for.  What books, wonders Agustina.  Piedad puts two books on the table, one being the hollow book that had contained the letters from Rocio to Don Dan.   Just as Agustina looks the books over, Camila has come to tell Agustina the breaking news about Don Dan and Rocio.  Camila wastes no time telling Agustina that she has discovered that Tio Dan and Rocio had an affair back-in-the-day.  Not just that, but Rocio is claiming that Tio Dan violated her and Pablo may really be a Monterde rather than an Albarran.  Camila and Agustina are in “no puede ser” mode regarding accusations that Don Dan Monterde has violated  Lady Rocio from La Buenaventura twenty-some years prior.  Viewerville is also in “no puede ser” mode in considering Rocio is more liar than lady.  Camila insists that Rocio is slandering (difamando) Tio Dan’s good name.  Piedad cannot help but overhear the fretting between Camila and Agustina.  Overcome with guilt, she interrupts the fret-fest and admits that she knows where the letters are that everyone is looking for.  She tells Camila that she and Dorotea found the letters in the books in Isa’s room and Piedad kept them.  Camila asks her why and Piedad says she was afraid that it would be dangerous if Pablo had discovered the information in the letters - that it could hurt him - so she kept the letters a secret.  Now that the “bomba” has exploded and Cayetano knows all about the the affair between Don Daniel and Rocio, it seems only right that Camila should have the letters to do whatever she needs to with them.   Agustina shoos Piedad off to retrieve the letters.
Viv and Rafa’s Place:  Rafa and Dan are discussing the new information that Dan has gathered from Rosario.   Rafa is endlessly amazed that AlLocoLonso keeps surprising everyone even though he is dead.  Dan suggests that Rosario wants to prove Al’s innocence and the good news for the gumshoes is that she is helping them find evidence against Isa.  Dan is trying to find the emails with the recordings Al made.  Rafa suggests Dan also go to Osvaldo to restore the phone records that Al had when he died as evidence against Dio.  The gumshoe gang’s work is not yet done with approximately 57 capitulos of work to go!
Living Room of La Malquerida:  Piedad returns with the pile of letters and she turns them over to Camila and Agustina.  Agustina opens and reads from one.  Rocio writes to Don Dan that he is the love of her life and has touched her corazon and cuerpo and lifted her to heaven, yah, yah, yawn.  “Vez?” proclaims Camila, Rocio has lied about being raped by Don Dan.  In other words, she has dishonestly declared dead Don Dan a derelict! Agustina is aghast at Rocio’s explicit language about their affair in the letters calling it shameful (vergonzosa).  Camila gathers the letters and declares that she must pay a visit to Mariano and provide him with the newly discovered evidence that his mother was actually a willing wench with Don Dan and not the violated victim that she claimed.   Meanwhile, Agustina-Self-Justina complains that Don Daniel was more of a Don Juan than anyone suspected – least of all her.  Agustina-Self-Justina  complains bitterly that even though she was more at his level (altura) he never paid attention to her as a proper single lady.  Instead he preferred to pursue married women, “that Chilena and that Albarran one” while having kids everywhere.  Camila pauses and says she really doesn’t want to talk about this with Agustina.  “Well, that was his loss”, Agustina harrumphs and states she is the one who won the best prize in the end.  She landed Dionisio, a real gentleman who respects and values her and doesn’t have kids everywhere.  Agustina swears she no longer cares about Don Dan Monterde, never ever again, y punto!
Albarran Hacienda:  Mariano informs Rocio that Camila is on her way across the lane to have a mujer-to-mujer talk with her about her Tio Dan’s alleged crime against Rocio.  Camila doesn’t believe Rocio.  Rocio does not greet this plan kindly and wonders how Camila knows all about this. Discovering that Mariano discussed the matter with Camila is not music to Rocio’s ears.  She is furious with Mariano about his indiscretion, her own son, in exposing her (exponerse) to the Monterde’s by telling Camila about this family secret.  Mariano tries to apologize and says the situation is already exposed but Rocio tells him he has ruined everything.  This was to remain among the Albarran’s, she tells him, and because she knew that the Monterde family would never believe her.   Rocio refuses to talk to Camila, ever, y punto!
Osvaldo’s Licenciado Office:  Osvaldo and PC Juarez discuss between themselves about possible evidence against Isa.  They agree that they need to look for Lic Salomen because he has evidence.  He was the one who drew up the fake power-of-attorney for Dan’s fake father Frankie to sign to take fake charge of La MQ.  They would like to question him, but he has left the country.  Osvaldo reasons that Salomen has to return sooner or later because his business cannot survive without him for too long.  PC Juarez tells Osvaldo to contact him if he learns something new.  Count on it, says Osvaldo.
Ranch Office at La Buenaventura:  Camila arrives and Mariano apologetically says that Rocio does not wish to visit with her.  Camila responds that with the evidence she now has, Camila herself should be the one to not want to visit with Rocio.   Camila sits and soberly tells Mariano that they once agreed that it is better to be honest with friend even if the news if difficult to accept rather than allow a friend to suffer a lifetime of pain.  She is apologetic that she is the one that has evidence that will show Mariano’s mother for who she really is.  Camila adds that as hard as it will be, she cannot let the sullying (manchar) of Tio Dan’s name be overlooked (no puedo pasar por alto).  Mariano reads the letter from Rocio to Don Dan.  His face clouds over as he reads it.
El Hostal:  Nat shows up with the newly discovered DNA Daddy Dio much to Amanda’s displeasure.  Amanda demands to know what Dio is doing there.  Nat and Dio announce they are returning from the local DNA (ADN) lab (Update: TN maps are no longer limited to directions to El Zocalo but are required include directions to the ADN lab del pueblo).  Amanda looks crushed as she asks Nat about doubting her word and tells Nat that she told her Dio was DNA Dad in order to keep her away from him.  Dio counters that Nat shouldn’t believe her because Amanda has been lying to Nat all along.   Nat tells Amanda that now she knows they were never married and that Dio never knew of her existence until recently.  Dio has embarked on some serious crazymaking of Amanda.  Amanda tries to counter the crazymaking and says she is not a liar.  Dio shakes his head and tells Amanda that she has told herself these lies for so long that she believes now she really believes them.  For extra effect, he turns to Nat, “hija mia” and says that that he is aware Al and others would have the town believe that he, Dio, is a very bad guy or mafiosi, but this is not true.  The real perpetrator of the questionable events at the MQ was Al himself.   Dio says his only mistake was to associate with some of the “wrong people” (indeseables).   Nat is upset and confused.  Dio consoles her and assures her that she can take all the time in the world to think about things.  He is sure she will see his side (inclinar para mi).  He kisses her goodbye and leaves.  Afterward, Amanda tries to tell Nat that she never deceived her.  Nat replies, “Well, guess what?  Deceived I am”!   Nat leaves Amanda alone to suffer the mistaken choice of her past that is Dio.
Albarran House:  Pogostick Yago’s phone rings; he gives it a glance and ignores it.  Rocio comes into the room and ask why Yago doesn’t answer it.  Yago doesn’t feel like talking to anyone, so there!  Rocio says she is sorry about what he learned about her skeleton-in-the-closet-that-would-be-an-affair-er-rape.  Yago assures her that he is in her corner, but complains that even if Pablo isn’t an Albarran, he is still Cayetonto’s favorite.  He kvetches further that if Rocio had taken the skeleton out sooner, maybe Pablo wouldn’t be Pop’s favorite son after all (are you kidding Yago?).  Rocio tells Yago not to start with his resentments again.  Pablo has gained his father’s affinity and that will not change - no matter what.  Score one Cayetonto  for making the better choice of a favorite son.
Ranch Office at La Buenaventura:  Camila apologizes to Mariano that he has to know this about his mom (that she is a liar-times- two) and knows he must feel badly. Mariano does not understand why his mother would tell such a serious lie.  Ever-understanding Mariano now understands the whole story and apologizes to Camila for accusing Don Dan and continuing to besmirch Don Dan’s good name.  No worries, says Camila, it was logical that Mariano would believe his liar- times- two mom, Rocio.
Honeymoon Hotel:  Pablo and Luzma are packing up to leave.  Pablo calls the bellman and he tells Luzma they should not call to tell the ranch they are returning because her mother will worry.  He promises to drive very slowly and carefully on the highway home so he does not cause Luzma any problems with her high risk pregnancy.  What a gentleman!
Living Room at La MQ:  Dio come home and Agustina inquires why Dio was looking for the books in Isa’s old room.  Dio says Isa borrowed them from the library and he wanted to read about other ranches in the country.  Is there any harm in that?  No, replies Agustina, it is just that the books turned out to have letters that reveal Don Dan had an affair with Rocio many years ago and that Pablo could be Don Dan’s son.  Dio feigns shock.  “Let me see those letters”, he asks.  Agustina tells him she doesn’t have them because Camila has taken them with her to the Albarran ranch in order to clear her Tio’s good name.
Courtyard of La MQ:  Piedad and Hipolito are discussing the breaking and now widespread news about the letters.  Dan drives up and Piedad asks Dan if they need another chofer now that he has promoted to El Patron.  She suggests Hipolito would be a good candidate and Dan agrees because any friend of Piedad is a friend of his.  Dan suggests that Hipolito call him Dan and not Patron, but that just doesn’t work for Hipolito (no me sale).  Dan asks Piedad about Camila’s whereabouts.  She tells him that Camila went to the Albarran ranch to clear the good name of Tio Dan (limpiar el nombre de su tio).  WTQ? Dan wonders.  Piedad explains as viewerville is spared one more rendition of “the letter story”.
Ranch Office at La Buenaventura:  Camila and Mariano worry about the wider implications of this news, in particular they worry about Pablo.  Camila considers that Pablo is now her cousin, Tio’s only living son and may even have rights to La MQ.  Mariano looks dejected and asks Camila if she will leave him the letters.  Of course she will and tells him she hates to see him like this.  She is his friend.  Mariano goes into broken record mode and mentions how hard it is to see Camila as just a friend.   Camila is sorry she cannot respond as he would like, but nonetheless gives him her unconditional support – as a friend – and she gives him a tender kiss on the forehead.   She is careful to underline friend and to dodge any extra clutch-touchy from Mariano.
Living Room at La MQ:  Dio and Agustina continue to talk about the breaking and now widespread news.  Dio slyly asks Agustina is she had just found out that Don Dan had a child he did not previously know about would she accept him.  Well, says Agustina, she would not be happy to have a bastard child of Don Dan living there, but it would be the correct thing to do.  Dio tells Agustina that he believes that women are the ones who have power over men with any children they would have.  Agustina-Self-Justina agrees, but says not all women use their child to blackmail the man they love.  Certainly she would never use a child to trick a man in some way (nope, she prefers abandoning ‘em instead).  Dio continues to slyly work this line of conversation to break the news to Agustina as follows: random girl comes to his office saying she is his daughter, mother is random woman he slept with back-in-the-day in DF, random girl asks him to take DNA test, Dio randomly agrees and pooof……. he has just found out that he has an illegitimate daughter who is none other than Natalia.  The very same Nat that is Amanda’s daughter.    WTQ?  Agustina is in shock.
Church del Pueblo: Nat is sitting in the pews weeping.  She prays to Diosito.  She is confused.  Padre Anselmo arrives and Tolentino tells him he is worried about Nat who has been crying in the pews for quite a while.  Padre approaches and asks Nat if something is wrong.  Si padre, she cries.
El Hostal:  Osvaldo is packing up to leave the hostal and Amanda complains to Osvaldo about Nat being misled by Dio, just as she was afraid Nat would be.  She realizes that Nat is so desperate for a father, she went to Dio without telling her to find out the truth.  Amanda tells Osvaldo that Nat came with Dio to confront her about who was telling the truth. Osvaldo tries to assure her that Nat will see through him.  Osvaldo asks Amanda if she has her marriage license.  He tells her something about this document requiring a fingerprint and he reasons that they can compare Dio’s fingerprints now and then even if the signatures are different.   Amanda does not have it because when she escaped she only took Nat’s birth certificate and a few other items. Osvaldo says he will send for a copy of it and Amanda gives him the date and place they were married.  Amanda is reluctant to expose Osvaldo or Nat to any danger based on her old mistake, which would be Dio.  Osvaldo is not worried.
Living Room of La MQ:   Dio and Agustina continue the discussion about Dio’s newly identified daughter.  Dan eavesdrops on the conversation.  Agustina wonders why Dio did not tell her before about his relationship with Amanda.  Dio says it was an unimportant relationship.   Agustina says it must not have been that unimportant if they had “relaciones sexuales” to which Dio counters he has slept with lots of women.   Dio continues to shovel on the bull#@$%  and tells Agustina she is not like “that woman” who he had a one-night stand with.   Dio knew Agustina was different from the rest the moment he laid eyes on Camila, I mean her.  Agustina was the marrying type with principles.  Agustina-Self-Justina says she mistakenly used to think Amanda was that type of woman too. Who knew Amanda was such a hussy?  Agustina asks if  Dio is thinking of having Nat come to live at MQ.  He replies that it is up to Nat, and if Agustina is not accepting of this, well, he will just have to move back to the bachelor pad in Meltepec with Nat.  The two can live the life of Gidget and Dad and Yago can be MoonDoggy.  Agustina is highly, but highly indignant that Dio would pick Nat, his daughter over her.  Viewerville rolls on the floor laughing hysterically at the Agustina’s comment.  Dio replies that he will not be doing the picking at all, it is Agustina who will have to choose.  Viewerville reassesses Dio for a nano-second for this sensible stance and valuable lesson delivered to Agustina who has picked louses over loyalty several times.
Church in El Pueblo:  Nat talks to Padre Anselmo about her woes.  He consoles her that Amanda is a good person and has made the decisions to keep this information from Nat out of love.  Nat says great, but that strategy messes up lives and she had a right to know who her dad was.  Padre asks her what she wants to do.  Nat says her mom is not as perfect as she thought and her dad isn’t as bad as she once thought.  Besides, Nat says she has always dreamed of having a father to love and protect her.  Padre tries to get Nat to look all the evidence in front of her to decide if Amanda could really be lying to her.
Casa de Albarran:  Bratgirl saunters in after a wild night complaining of being hung over (cruda) and wants to know what is up in the Casa Albarran.  Everybody is uptight. Yago says suffice it to know that Pablo may not have Albarran blood after all.  Bratgirl’s eyes grow large with this news.
Horse Stables at La MQ:  Rodolfo and Eleuterio are brushing the horses.  Eleuterio asks Rodolfo about coming home late and wants to blab and talk chisme.  He asks if Rodolfo and Bratgirl are now boyfriend and girlfriend.  Rodolfo is none too happy about having this discussion, scowling and shutting down the questions from Eleuterio. Eleuterio wisely gives up and goes to find another friend for the day.
Cabana de Camila and Dan:  Dan and Camila discuss the breaking news of “the letters”.  Dan tells Camila that Nat knows Dio is her father.  He adds that Dio has told Agustina and spun the story his own way.  He wonders why Dio has handled the story the way he has with Agustina and Nat.  Camila reasons that Dio knew that this news was bound to come out eventually anyway.
Church of El Pueblo:  Padre Anselmo introduces Aaron and Viv to a crowd of local townfolk.   He tells them that Aaron is here to help them build a self-sufficient community just like the one he did in Chiapas.  Viewerville is wondering what the editors had in mind with this random scene.
Viv and Rafa’s Place:  Rafa talks to his editor and hits the “send” button on his computer, signifying the final goodbye to his now complete novela.  He talks to them about sending Viv’s photos that can be used on the cover.  He assures phone person that Viv is a great photographer.  He hangs up, is very happy, picks up a frame with Viv’s picture in it, thanks the photo-Viv and then kisses the photo-Viv.
Cabana de Camila and Dan:  Camila tells Dan that she will talk to her mom about all of this.  Before she departs she jots down Al’s email.  She and Dan smooch and they depart.
El Hostal:  Osvaldo offers to stay another day when the phone rings to interrupt that not so subtle suggestion.   Amanda answers the phone; it is Dan and she informs him that Dio has told Nat loads of lies.  Dan says he heard Dio tell Agustina a different load of lies.  Amanda asks Dan to talk to Nat when he can but says Nat isn’t around just yet to do so. Dan agrees and tells Amanda to let him know when Nat returns and he will come over and talk to her.  Amanda swears lifetime gratitude if Dan can talk sense into Nat.
Casa de Chaos de Albarran:  Refugio starts to talk to Rocio.   Mariano appears, interrupts and accuses his mom of lying while waving a letter in his hand.  Cayetano hears this.  WTQ?  He demands to know more.  He orders Mariano to give him the letter in his hand and grabs it for himself.  He reads the letters in which Rocio confesses her love to Don Dan and reminisces about their noche de amor.   He explodes with “You are a ……” as he approaches her.  Mariano stops him saying he cannot permit Cayetano to harm Rocio.  Cayetano lashes out at Rocio for having invented the story that she had been raped by Don Dan Monterde.   Yago stands on the sidelines impactado.  Rocio sputters and tries to explain to no avail.  Cayetano tells her to shut the $#% up and to not treat him as if he were stupid (to let Isa do that).  He orders her to pack up her belongings and leave and swears that he never wants to see her again, ever, ever!  We close the capitulo with Rocio frozen by the close-up with cara impactada!

Geez, is it me or do these story lines get more complicated? Anywho, enjoy the recap...there are some fun vocab I might add in when I have a chance, but this will have to do for now.

Great work, Mena, and poor Pablo has such carnage to face when he gets home tonight. I'm trying to imagine how he will react to this news in view of what's already going on in his life.

Cayetano is playing right into Hissadora's hands. For Mariano and Pablo's sake I hope all that happens is he ends up feeling like an idiot.

Iago deserves whatever happens.

Mena- I love the title and the recap.

Thank you for pointing out the irony in Gussy's surprise that someone would choose their child over their spouse. Shocking!

I did have two LOL moments-- 1) at Gussy's shocked expression, complete with perfect 'O' mouth, when Dio mentioned moving Nat into MQ; and 2) at Camila's "oh gross!" face when Gussy got indignant about Don Dan passing up a chance to do the wild thing with HER, and then Cami saying out loud that she doesn't want to hear about that. Ha!

Well, Gussy let Dio get away with his excuse for why he was looking for the books. For a second there, it looked like she was really going to nail him for being Isa's accomplice. But just to clarify, Camila and Gussy did not know before Piedad mentioned them that there were other letters to be found, nor did Dio explicitly say that he or anyone else was searching for letters. Plus, although one of the books is hollow, the other one (the big one) IS indeed about the local ranches and ranchers (remember Isa reading up on Cayetonto and BV).

Natalia, Natalia, Natalia. Yeah, I get it. Amanda a long time ago told little girl Natalia a lie, that her sainted daddy was dead, and she never went back to her and told her the real deal when she was older. But really, does that turn Amanda into a slut and pathological liar? I mean, Nat had observed this good woman her ENTIRE life! I'm sorry. I'm just not feeling the sympathy for Nat right now. Maybe one of you can soften my heart.

Ah, how sweet it was to see Rocio's lies come slap her in her face. It looks like Nana was about to tell Cayetonto the truth herself, before Mariano came bursting in with the letters. I would like to note that one of the letters spoke about how much Rocio luuuurrrved Dan, although she knew he didn't feel the same about her. As Heidi would say...Rocio, one day you're in, and the next day you're OUT! Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya! So long, farewell...! :)

As for the scenes that show Aaron, Padre and Vivi getting the community started, and Rafa getting his novel to the editors, I think they show that everyone else isn't in suspended animation until Cam and Dan activate them to work on MQ intrigues. They all have their own lives too.

I thought it was an interesting contrast between the scene where Mariano sadly accepts Cami's consolation "just friends" kiss on the forhead, and Dan later NOT accepting Cami just giving him kisses on the cheek before she left to speak to Gussy.

Dear Mena, Thank you. I love your new definition of DNA -- perfect for our novelas.

I also loved your account of that sly hash-slinger Dio, reframing every bit of news for gullible Gussy. She always starts out strongly indignant and then purses her lips and melts as this great prize of a husband cons her. I do enjoy the interaction between the actors, but geez, she's an easy mark.

Mariano is such a noble character (we see where Pablo gets it, though as someone said the other day the parents must have done something right with two out of three of the sons). Mariano looked so very grave last night as the lies unfolded.

Has Rene Strickler ever been a villain in anything? He's the proverbial good guy and rescuer. I'm hoping he doesn't have to go through a brief relationship with Camila that yields nothing permanent. And that he finds happiness.

Two old lies that could be forgiven if they weren't being nurtured and embellished and blown out of proportion by our villains. I agree, Vivi, that Natalia's situation, even with all of the yearning for a father, is tough to swallow. By the same token, Rocio's betrayal has become a community story, instead of one discussed more rationally and sanely between people who appear to have been married for more than 40 years! Hurts would abound, negative consequences would result, but the catastrophic outcomes are a result of the two evil ones who just won't quit.

I love it that Padre Anselmo has a crying-woman-reporter! Tolentino is the church-crying-cryer, letting Padre know exactly what's happening within those four walls.

Great title and recap Mena,

I can't feel sorry for Augustonta and Natonta for their current state because they're too gullible for their own good -- these two should be mother and daughter because they're drinking the koolaid from the same fountain of Dio.

Irony, indeed Vivi in DC -- I never appreciated Augustonta when she first told Camila "she didn't want to choose between her and Dio" back when Dio wanted to manage LMQ. After her marriage to Dio when she told Cam that she chose Dio over her--I wanted to smack the words out of her -- which is why I don't feel any pity for on her downward spiral into Dio web of lies. It's one thing to be naive; it's quite another to be so taken by someone to forsake your own flesh and blood.

But last night karma was a XXtch when Dio told her that he'll choose his daughter over her; her expression priceless -- hopefully she'll start to buy a clue.

Roccio --busted in her lies; that's quite humiliating for her and her sons.

I fell so bad for Amanda last night--poor woman--Natonta needs to wake up from her stupor ASAP and realize that her mother is the good woman she grew up with all those years.

There's a special hell for Dio ...

Myo-

We are going to be so sorry when this TN ends. Que bonito amor follows. The good news, it has Jorge Salinas y Pablo Montero, the bad, it's produced by Salvador Mejia.

Mena - awesome recap! Love the alliteration ("dishonestly declared dead Don Dan a derelict!")

Augh! I cannot wait until the Scoobies get some actual proof on Dio. That's what's keeping Nat so confused - no one actually has anything on her dad and just like Rocio found a scapegoat in DonDan, Dio can just keep blaming everything on Al. After all, what seems more logical to believe about you're father. That he's a murdering mafioso with multiple identities and no conscience when no one has anything to back that up, or that he fell in with people who turned out to be proven crazies (i.e. Al) and that you're mom, embarassed by a youthful indiscretion, lied and her lies caught up to her? At least she didn't just say "You crazy liar! Everytihng you say is a lie!" I'm glad they have her angry and confused rather than having abandoned Amanda as soon as Dio showed up.

Augh! Poor Pablo! He can't sleep with his wife, his father's not his father, he's mom's a snobby, lying loca, his brother suffers from some serious middle child syndrome (he and Xi would've been perfect for each other). Whoever mentioned this possibility before, I think you're right: this is the perfect setup for New Girl madness. Especially if Yago falls for her since he's already got so much against Pablo.

Kudos to those pointing out the Agustina hypocrisy. Her telling Cami she'd choose Dio was her worst moment, so hopefully Cam will point this out to her and she'll start rethinking her ways. I didn't comment yesterday, but I appreciated the Cami/Gussy scene. It was nice that when Cami spoke from the heart and pointed out Gussy's messedupedness, like when Gussy didn't say Dan's name, Gussy conceded (albeit reluctantly) that she was being a bit of a bonehead in keeping Cami out. Hopefully, she'll start treating Dan better now, but only time will tell...

Vivi - I'm already mourning the loss! This TN has been SO GOOD!!! Normally, I feel like I'm always waiting for a TN to really get started and that feeling never goes away. Not with this one! I will be really sad to see it go :( And also, yes that moment when Dan says "kisses on the cheek now?" was adorable.

Thanks Mena, you got to recap the complete gullibility that is Agustina. Ugh! She tries my patience.

I loved the eyerolls of Dan when he was eavesdropping. I was doing it too.

So much setup for the future. Dan finding the emails, Osvaldo getting the marriage certificate and the phone logs, Isa moving in to BV, and Pablo being in for a huge surprise.

Great recap, Mena! I love your alliteration, the Spanish vocab, your account of some conversations that went right by me, and, of course, all your delightful comments. Among my favorite comments: "(Update: TN maps are no longer limited to directions to El Zocalo but are required include directions to the ADN lab del pueblo)," "Mariano goes into broken record mode," " Dio knew Agustina was different from the rest the moment he laid eyes on Camila, I mean her," and "Cayetano tells her to shut the $#% up and to not treat him as if he were stupid (to let Isa do that)."

Speaking of comments, Vivi, did you make up "Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!" or is that from some source I probably should know but don't? Either way, I laughed out loud.

Myo, I love your remark that Agustina and Natalia seem to be drinking from the same koolaid fountain, but it's not just the fountain of Dio. Both of them have shown themselves to be drinking from multiple fountains. Their foolishness extends far beyond Dio (e.g., Natalia re Yago).

It's interesting that so much occurred last night, but what has loomed large as the Major Problem was more or less absent: Miriam and the baby. I can't help but fear the effect on Dan if/when he has to face the existence of a live Miriam and baby. And that is likely to drive Camila closer to Mariano. Only temporarily, I assume, but still....

Cathyx- I loved Dan's eye roll too, while he listened to the b.s. Dio was spewing to Gussy. He also stifled an eye roll when Peidad told him Cami went to visit Mariano, before she launched into telling him the letter drama.

It was sort of hilarious that in the short time Dan was away from the ranch that morning, all this crap happened: the revelation of an addition to the Monterde family (Pablo); the near start of a family feud between the Monterdes and the Albarrans after an accusation of rape (Cami was itching to tell Rocio off to her face); and the revelation of a secret love affair.

Juanita- I don't know who long ago first said the door/split ya phrase, but I have heard it many a time over the years. It's one of my fave sayings. :)

OT: quien ere Tu, the one with Laura "Ximena" Carmine that was on UniMas. When they pull one is it gone forever, or might it pop up again later? I took a few peeks, not enough to follow the plot, but enough to be pleasantly, not exactly surprised, but un relieved that LC seemed to be handling herself well.
They have to program something against strong shows, so did pulling it mean it was doing so badly they had to stop the bleeding or maybe hmm, this is up against her old show, maybe it will do better later when the folks who were into AB are free?

Off Topic (Quien Eres Tu):

Anon 12:33- Since UniMas (which belongs to Univision) is terrible about communicating with its viewers, we have no real idea if the show will be rescheduled or when. Ratings seems to have been an issue, but like you mentioned, it was scheduled against an already popular tn (AB) on a much larger network. They also made the decision to pull it after just the first week. Surely, that's not enough time to make a decision about ratings. From the comments I have seen online, the show has a strong/loyal following, and it is a good tn- not amazing, but good with an interesting plot.

UniMas also did nothing to promote this tn, so they can't fault the tn for not getting whatever the magic ratings number is. It has had to rely solely on word of mouth. UniMas is making noises about finding a new time slot for the show, but their record on this kind of thing, from what I have read, is atrocious. It would not be surprising if we never saw QET on UniMas again. That's a real shame. It is still showing in other countries, and I have managed to find up to episode 13 online. Hopefully, people in other countries will continue to upload the episodes.

Gracias Vivi re: QET. Never watched a TF TN, not sure I would go over, just seemed abrupt.

Mena, thanks for the entertaining recap. Wanted to particularly thank you and the other recappers for the vocabulary notes. If i was really serious about learning Spanish I suppose I would be taking my own copious notes and have a dictionary by my side, in which case your notes would help me figure out the words I needed to look up. As it is, they help me in my more casual quest to connect the spoken word with my minimal "reading knowledge."
Chris in FL

Mena thanks so much for the recap.

Cathyx & Vivi - add me to the list of those rolling their eyes at Dio's BS. I also have no patience for Natonta.

1. Augustina expected Dionisio to accept her daughters, and be like their father, but is scrunching her face up at Natalia?

2. Amanda should've told Natalia the truth a long time ago. Now Nat is on the Dio train.

3. Everybody was coming for Rocio last night...EVERYBODY (Cayetano, Refugio, Camila, Mariano...even Iliana was in the background).

4. Yago's counting on Cayetano kicking Pablo to the curb b/c the whole reason Pablo is Cayetano's favorite is because Pablo "saved" the marriage. Now that the marriage has been exposed as a sham and Pablo is part of that sham, Yago reasons Cayetanto will shun Pablo and then HE can be the favorite. But NOBODY respects slimy suckups, so Cayetano would probably favor MARIANO over Yago.

5. Augustina is extra mad that Don Daniel stuck his bullhorn into every woman around EXCEPT her. That could be b/c Augustina was his brother's wife & mother of his niece and he wasn't going to cross that line (Augustina would NEVER think of this) or it could be because Augustina was and is a silly twit and Don Dan didn't have time for all that.

6. Tolentino is doing pretty well with letting Padre Anselmo know which parishoners need immediate counseling.

7. Rodolfo: more please. We need to see you in more TNs. Thanks.

Besides the New Girl threat, here's what I don't want to happen: Pablo moves into the ranch as el dueno and his mother, with nowhere else to go, is allowed to move in and harass/ignore/belittle poor bed-ridden Luzma.

I was impressed with Cami's reaction to Mariano when he went into "broken record mode." She was like, "Even though I feel nothing for you the way you feel it for me, I still offer you unconditional friendship." That seemed really classy. She didn't just squirm with the discomfort of this mode, rather she lets him know how she feels while leaving the door open for a normal friendship once he just gets over it already.

"Viewerville spared another recounting of the Letter drama," "Let Isadora do that (make Caye appear stupid)," were some of the highlights of this recap for me. Thank you!

TN4ever

Does Dion not realize that Amanda can get a copy of the marriage license if she doesn't have the original? And doesn't he realize it has his fingerprint on it so he can't deny it's not him? I hope they can get a copy.

I mean he can't deny it is him.

Maybe Amanda let Dio "take care of" the paperwork when she thought they were married. I'm sure Omar's predecessor would have made the paper work look all proper and legal-like. He might just have forgotten to register it with the authorities.

Anonymous, that sounds too much like something Dion would do. Uh oh.

Anon207- "Augustina expected Dionisio to accept her daughters, and be like their father, but is scrunching her face up at Natalia?"

But you see, her daughters aren't bastardas like Nat supposedly is. I wonder if she's going to start referring to Nat as "La Bastarda" and Pablo as "El Bastardo" like she did with Dan for so long?

Now that you point it out, Vivi, there are a lot of Bastardos in this TN, lol.

I thought you had to sign the license in front of witnesses and a justice so it could be registered. Do you take it in or does the official who signs it? In any case, I wouldn't put it past him to have the record mysteriously erased/destroyed from the office once he realized Amanda discovered his "true" self.

If Rocio moves in with PabLuz, I give her exactly two instances of foolishness before Luz/Pablo/Piedad/Cami/Dan tell her sus 4 verdades. She thinks people are coming down on her now? She better not even try to mistreat La Chula.

It's bothering me that Dan hasn't told el comandante about the email and texts. I don't want anyone to look with suspicion on the fact that he's finding evidence and claim that as a computer guy he could've manipulated anything (the recording less so, but the texts maybe).

I hope Gussy remembers the cryptic convo/warning she had with Amanda outside the church.

Yago's an idiot. He needs to grow up. Last night when he skipped Nat's call (I assume it was her calling him), and then told Illy he wasn't soltando la lengua, only to do just that, I was shaking my head. I'm almost as done with him as with Rocio and that's only because I don't really care what happens to Rocio, but I want to see what happens with Yago/Nat.

Cathyx- There really aren't that many bastardos. Both Nat and Dan were products of marriages. Mariages that ended quickly, but marriages none the less. Xi was in exactly the same boat. Sweet Pablo, and Luzma (whose daddy was killed before he got to the altar) are the only bastards.

Helleshelle, will Rocio live with PabLuz? At Malquerida? I think that 's where they are planning on living. Maybe she will go to the hostel. She has little options. Maybe a distant relative.

Anon207 wrote that perhaps the reason Don Dan never slept with Gussie is that "Augustina was and is a silly twit and Don Dan didn't have time for all that." I certainly agree that Agustina is and was a silly twit, but since Don Dan did have time for Rocio, being a silly twit apparently doesn't rule a woman out of the running. :-)

cathyx - no idea, about what'll happen with Rocio, I was responding to RlaO's theory that she would move in with them and torment Luzma. Seriously, if she can find the balls to torment the woman whose tragedy she usurped for her own nefarious purposes, then she deserves Isa.

Vivi- I don't know that Nat needs sympathy, but she hasn't indicated that she thinks her mom's a slut. A liar, yes, but Amanda did in fact lie and it was a big one. If Dio had been in prison and Amanda lied about that, I think Nat may have gotten over this sooner or been less conflicted/harsh. But she told her the man was great and dead. That's a doozy and very unexpected. I do wish she were more skeptical about Dio's version, but I think the actress did a great job last night of explaining the conflict within her and her yearning for a dad. Maybe when she conquers these daddy issues, she'll realize where her Yago problems are coming from.

I remember Rene Strickler as a bad guy a while back, but don't remember the TN. It was with Karyme Lozano and Valentino Lanus.

Maybe the reason the Albarrans were successful with 2 out of 3 sons is because Refugio probably dealt more with Mariano as the firstborn and Pablo as the baby (sorry, Iago, middle child syndrome again) and thus their morals, beliefs, etc. reflect more Refugio's than the parents'.

Am really enjoying Padre Anselmo. He is so different from the typical TN padres. His advice is always sprinkled with common sense and lots of tough love when needed.

Pablo moving in as el dueno: I don't think he would insist on doing so. This is something Iago would do. Even though he is Don Dan's biological son, the DNA test would only prove he is NOT Cayetano's - they would have to do a DNA of Don Dan (or maybe Camila). But regardless of whether they prove he is a Monterde, he would not automatically become the owner of LMQ (although Camila and Daniel would probably insist he is the rightful owner) nor would he agree to take over just like that.

Dio feels so superior to everyone that I'm sure the marriage certificate won't even enter his mind. The idea that Amanda would even think of that wouldn't occur to him (she actually didn't, it was Osvaldo). And if he had handled the paperwork, she would've told Os right then and there.

Technically, Luzma would be the only "bastarda" since Pablo, regardless of parentage, was born within a marriage and the law would recognize him as legitimately Cayetano's.

Our "great and powerful" Os will have to get a second document to make this work. Amanda married "Hector Gutierez" which is the name that will appear on the marriage license. They have to prove that "Hector" and "Dionisio" are one and the same.

In any event, I hope that Nat will come to her senses. WTQ does she think Dio and Isa were up to with that whole meeting with Estevez just last week?? She is the one that took the call and knew something shady was going on.

And thank you Mena for a great recap!

LoriLoo, Osvaldo mentioned that marriage certificates have a fingerprint on them.

My it’s odd how Dio lies and evil tactics has caused both Augustina and Natalia to be labeled “Tonto” and worse by viewerville experts. Yet his name continues to only be “Dio”. (must be that deep powerful voice that intrigues us). Amyhooo, he is at times called “El Diablo”, but if I’m not mistaken, that isn’t even referring to the real devil, UA named him after some opera or musical person no?

LoriLoo that's exactly what Osvaldo propose to do; by retrieving a copy of the original mariage license with Hector's digits he will then compare them with Dio's. The thing is to do that; he's going to need an accomplice that can provide him with a fresh set of Dio's digits.

Myo-

Renata770, I know you are well-meaning, but I feel that telling us stuff like this is a bit of a spoiler. I would rather not know that there are upcoming scenes that I need to brace myself for. Just mho.

Cathyx- I think LoriLoo was pointing out that they still need to get Dio's prints now, in order to compare them to the ones on the marriage certificate. Getting the marriage certificate is only the first step.

Cathyx not a problem i deleted it

Many thanks, Mena, for a great recap.

I thought Rene Strickler did a fantastic job of acting in the scene where Camila brings him the incriminating letters. Just fantastic.

TL – Love your observation on Tolentino, the crying ladies crier for the padre. I was thinking the same thing. It must be in his job descrition: monitor the church and grounds for ladies in distress and report them to head priest.

TN4ever – ITA about how well Camila handled that tricky situation of being a friend to a guy who is in love with her. She is very warm and open in all of her relationships, which makes her very likeable.

Does anyone else remember when Piedad told Luzma the truth about her dad? Luzma was a bit put out about not knowing for so long, either, but the two of them handled it well, with Piedad telling her that now that she was an adult, she deserved to know (or something similar). It is quite the contrast to the Amanda-Natalie mess, but then they didn’t have the diablo Dio messing it up.

Another great contrast is the lies that Rocio told about her ex-lover that made him look bad and what Dio is telling about his ex-wife, making her look slutty.

Agree with Anon 03:51 that Pablo does not automatically become the owner of the Mal Q even if he is Don Dan’s son. Son or no son, the ranch goes to whomever is specified in the will, which we all know was DDA. I suspect that Camila will offer to share with him, especially if Cayetonto cuts him off.

The fingerprint on the marriage cert will show not only was Dio lying about being married, but also lying about using two names.

renata770 - lol, you're right this day is stretching out! I was wondering when cam and Dan were going to find the time to plan their wedding, but it's still only day 1 of the their wedding week! Thankfully they really keep the drama and interest up!

I think my last comment came off harsher than I intended. If it did, I apologize. I'm definitely in Amanda's corner, but given the info that Nat's working with, I think it's understandable that she's conflicted about the Dio situation. I wish she and Amanda could have a moment like Gussy and Cam the other day, when they sit down and say, I know we're at loggerheads right now, but I want to lay out my side right now so you can see where I'm coming from and think through this calmly.

About that phone call though, has anyone mentioned why the police don't contact the development company? This thing has been in the works for a long time. Shouldn't the length of time alone provide some proof that Dio and Isa have been conspiring to steal property and demonstrate motive for the murders in question? I mean, she had construction people at the ranch the day after she took control of it. You would think the police could work with that.

Carolina - I actually don't really remember that. Do you mean when she told her she though Lio might have killed him?

The marriage certificate means nothing (unless the fingerprints prove otherwise) because Dionisio signed the marriage certificate as "Hector Gutierrez."

Amanda was married to Hector Gutierrez, not Dionisio Ferrer. They need to prove that Hector and Dionisio are one and the same.

By blood Pablo is the rightful owner of La Malquerida but legally Daniel was Monterde's heir, then the property was ceded to Alonso, who ceded it to Daniel AND Camila.

I have no doubt would give MQ to Pablo or share ownership with him. But now Pablo's got a big target on his back with both Isa & Dio knowing that he is Don Daniel's son.

I think Augustina WILL call Natalia "La Bastarda" and will call Amanda some choice names as well. She SHOULD call Pablo "El Bastardo" like she called Daniel...but somehow I don't think she will call Pablo out of his name b/c Cayetano will probably knock her head off.

HS - I think it was just after Piedad made the trip to her home village and learned herself what had really happened to Luzma's dad. She also told her that the corpse they found on the ranch was her uncle, Julian.

Dionicio Ferrer....

Dio: God (in a long-ago game of Televisa Remakes I recommended that Cesar Evora provide the voice of God in Los Dies Mandamientos)

Dionicio: Greek god of wine, revelry, and orgies. In other words, total self-indulgence.

El Diablo: Because that is what he is. And if Cesar Evora had become an opera singer he would be cast as Mephistopheles in every version of Faust because of that voice. Here would be a perfect scene for him.

Anon207, The marriage cert is vital because it is what will prove that Hector and Dionisio are one and the same. In addition to exposing his lies to Nat and Gussy, if he has signed legal documents using both names, then he has committed fraud. And it will also annul his marriage to Gussy unless he got divorced from Amanda, which we have no reason to think he did.

I don't think that getting Dio's fingerprints would be hard. If he is accused of fraud and Oswaldo is on the case, the police could just call him in and he would have little choice but to cooperate.

Only the fingerprints would prove that Hector & Dionisio are the same person. Otherwise, Amanda was married to Hector Gutierrez who "is not" Dionisio Ferrer.

Augustina's marriage is currently valid b/c she married Dionisio Ferrer. Dionisio Ferrer was not married to Amanda Gutierrez. Augustina would have to prove that a) Hector & Dionisio are one and the same and b) that Hector/Dionisio is still married to Amanda.

If Amanda divorced Hector, no matter what name he uses, he was free to marry Augustina or whoever and it would be a valid, legal marriage.

El Diablo's marriage to Amanda is possibly fraudulent from the beginning because "Hector Gutierrez" is likely to not be his real name either. However, since the DNA test shows he is Natalia's sperm donor, Amanda could gouge him for 18 years' worth of back child support he never paid.

However, I doubt she would do that; she just wants him out of their lives.

As for his marriage to Augustina, that is legal under US law because there were witnesses. That he is possibly using a false name now does not change that. Augustina could certainly get an annulment under the law in either country.

But I'm sure she will stay in denial for a long while yet.

I've lost patience with Nat. I get that she's going through stuff, but when I compare her situation with Luz's and see how mature Luz has been throughout--and she's younger--I get a little fed up with Nat.

I don't believe Amanda filed for divorce from Hector; if she did, wouldn't Dionosio receive notification and find out her whereabouts?

I don't know all the legality of which of Dio's marriage is legal and/or valid, but didn't he commit the crime of bigamy for being married to two women at the the same time?

Myo-

... continue ...
even if he married both Augustonta and Amanda under different name. If they can prove that he's a bigamist, can they bring legal charges against him?

Myo-

Piedad came clean to Luzma about her dad before she went to the village. That's why Luzma was so supportive of her going so that Piedad could find out the truth and be at peace. Luzma found out on her own by eavesdropping on Piedad and Leon that dead Julian was her uncle. She did not confront Piedad about this. In fact, Dan was the first person she told. When Peidad finally came clean, Luzma was a bit miffed that Piedad had kept information from her about what happened with her dad all these years, but she let Peidad explain the whole situation. And then she was sympathetic to Piedad knowing the love of her life had likely been murdered by Leon.

Anon 5:05, yes, it would be the fingerprints ON the marriage certificate that would prove if Hector and Dio were the same person. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I am assuming that Amanda is telling the truth and not Dio, and that Hector and Dio are the same person. I am also assuming that there was no divorce because we haven't heard any mention of it. If there were a divorce, things would be different. As for child support claims, I am NOT assuming that Mexican law is the same as US law as far as that goes. Amanda may or may not have a claim under Mexican law, I don't know, but I do agree with UA that she probably isn't interested in pursuing it even if she did have a claim.

I don't think the marriage to Gussy would be valid because a person can't be married to two people at the same time, even if he fraudulently used a different name for the second marriage. Having witnesses is only one part of what makes a marriage valid. There are other requirements as well, and using your correct legal name would be one. Not being married to someone already would be another.

If Dio really was married Amanda (under a different name) and never got a divorce, which is what it looks like to me, Augustina would not need to seek an annulment; her marriage would simply not be valid.

New TN rule, the good guys overhear sth for a change .

I really don't believe Nat disbelieves her mother. I think she is trying to settle things in her mind. I think she is suspicious of Dio just trying to prove it to herself. Remember her thoughts were to spy for Dan when she went to work for Dio . She is just a confused girl, (Rodolfo could fix that)

From what I have seen here & there, Rene Strickler will be a BAD guy on Amor Idomable.

Except that in Mexico a false name invalidates a marriage. This has been an issue in other novelas including the great CS 93. Where this gets muddy is that he married Augustina in the US. In Vegas, no less, which cheapens the whole thing.

Either way, Augustina is going to be roundly embarrassed when the merde hits the fan.

Thanks Mena for a great recap that initiated many interesting viewerville comments.

Cathyx you are so right about how certain predictions/opinions can be mistaken for spoilers. Case in point, "is Miriam and baby alive"? I’ve changed my opinion from no to yes based solely on what I’ve read in the comments.

I don't think Pablo will have a problem even if Camila gives him part of La MQ. Dio and Isa have moved on to taking over La BV. Of course, the easier thing to do would be to go here:

http://www.residenciasdesanmiguel.com/english/mexican-haciendas.html

But what do I know? I'm just bitchy, not evil.

Should we be worried for Osvaldo? Any other novela I'd think yes but this one doesn't do things the normal way.

kelly

Kelly- Now I know how to spend that $2 million to $5 million that's been burning a hole in my pocket!

Os has already had one near brush with death. Hopefully the writers feel that's enough. Only the protagonists can have multiple near death experiences. :)

Isa may have moved on to BV (with Dio's blessing) but Dio still has plans to get MQ AND Camila (crazy!). He already mentioned a plan to introduce some virus into the MQ herd to cripple them financially. I don't think he's dropped that plan just because we haven't heard him talking about it the last few episodes.

Foxy, I wasn't talking about predictions and opinion when I told Renata that I didn't want spoilers. If you read what she wrote, she said she saw this TN already and was giving us a heads up about things to come. I have no problem with people giving their opinion and predictions if they have not seen ahead. We are all guessing as to what might happen. That's what makes the comment section so fun.

We have no reason to believe that Dionisio is using his real name now. Why would he start using it now? He's a con man.

BTW *****Ricardo Franco****is en Amor idomable

It's after Lagrimas.
OMG every time I turn to the novelas on TV, (((((she's crying)))))
How much glycerin does Lagrimas have?

Is it legal to get married in the US under a false name? I can't remember if I had to show ID when I got my marriage license. I would think one has to.

Thanks for the heads up Variopinta. And yes, whenever I see the last minutes of Carona, VR is indeed crying many, many tears. :)

Speaking of Ricardo (Rodolfo), it looks like the guilt of sleeping with Iliana was eating him up. He was not dealing well with his moment (or hours, as late as they came home) of weakness.

Variopinta, you said earlier that Que Bonito Amor will follow this when it's done and that its produced by Salvador Mejia. What else has he done? Please don't tell me that he's doing Amores Verdaderos too.

Cathyx- Mejia produced Triunfo del Amor, Corazón Salvaje (2009), and Fuego en la Sangre. If you've seen even one of those, you understand his style.

Amores Verdaderos is produced by Nicandro Diaz who also did Soy tu Dueña, Mañana es Para Siempre, and Destilando Amor.

I saw Triunfo Del Amor. Meh. Not great and I didn't love the casting.

Laws vary in different states and around the world, but I can't imagine anyplace where it would be legal to be married using a false name. My husband and I each had to show two forms of valid government-issued ID, in person, to get our marriage license.

Las Vegas has looser rules and a faster process than other places, but one of the problems with Vegas weddings is that they can be found to be invalid later on.

If this novela doesn't win ALL the awards, I'm going to storm the show. This is the best except for the period TN's, Amor Real, Alborada, Pasion, all with the best Colunga)
Is this one too savvy for the usual TN watcher, or do the want to see the usual TN dreck?

Vivi: "Amores Verdaderos is produced by Nicandro Diaz who also did Soy tu Dueña, Mañana es Para Siempre, and Destilando Amor." --mixed bag for me. MEPS, one of my favs and STuD--least fav (didn't see DA).

Variopinta, I'm with you on how great this one is. I've said before that it's ruining all the others for me if they aren't as good. I don't have the patience anymore for what you so aptly called the usual TN dreck.

cathrix, it sounds like Mejia is doing Amores Veredes but it's a little TOO good even for him.

Mejia works of art

La Tempestad (2013) sad, new one with Wm Levy
Que bonito amor (2012/13)
Triunfo del amor (2010/11)
Corazón salvaje (2009/10)
Fuego en la sangre (2008) Worlds worst TN, I judge ALL novelas by this one
Mundo de fieras (2006)
La esposa virgen (2005)
La madrastra (2005,07) & La madrastra... años después (2005)soooo ridiculous, histerical
Mariana de la noche (2003/04)
Entre el amor y el odio (2002)
Abrázame muy fuerte (2000/01) My true love Colunga but I couldn't watch
Rosalinda (1999)
La usurpadora (1998) & Más allá de... la usurpadora (1998) same as Abrazame, Colunga, but horrible
Esmeralda (1997)

Nanette- A lot of people love DA. I wasn't watching tns back then, but have seen bits and pieces when it re-ran some time ago. I also really enjoyed MEPS, and liked many aspects of STuD, the scenery (the land and FC), but Val got on my nerves half the time.

The TV y Novelas Awards people hate SN, so I don't if she'll ever win. She deserved to win for CEM but I don't even think she was nominated (nor was she nominated for MEPS), which shows you those awards are a load of bull****.

All, Glad to see a lively conversation and discussion about future TNs amd all. Thanks as always for the miscellaneous comments. One thought from my perspective.....

CAthy X and Foxy - As a newcomer to recapping and following the comments more closely than before, I agree with the pair of you regarding predictions seeming to be close to spoilers for some. I believe this is because the more you watch TNs, the more you understand TN Law and Probability. The example of Miriam still being alive is a very good example. It would not have occurred to me that she would be alive, particularly since Abe actually told Dan in the beginning she was dead. But apparently, this is a common plot line and people predicted it early on and it has become common expectation or prediction. When I watch Law and Order now, I expect that any arrest within the first 30 minutes will likely be the wrong person or a red herring. ; )

Variopinta,
Fuego en la sangre (2008) Worlds worst TN, I judge ALL novelas by this one

I laughed out loud at this one.

So far, mine is That Female Boxer One, that I refuse to remember the name of.

This is Mejia is at his best, worse?
Anyway, you will LOL

Mena- Actually, the first beloved wife returning from the dead when the protagonist is in the galan’s life is NOT common. This whole storyline with Dan loving both women deeply is very atypical. I think the first clue people picked up on was the fact that we never saw her die. In a sloppy tn, where all kinds of loose ends are left and storylines are left hanging, then not seeing a key character die wouldn't be unusual. But with these good writers and this producer, you know that if you don't see it happening, ALL kinds of other stuff is likely happening off screen. Does that make sense? It's actually not about this tn being typical. It's about the writers being willing to throw really atypical curveballs at the characters. The writers have been leaving little bread crumbs all along—first, no on screen death, then Abe disappears, then no location for her grave, and now Dan’s dream.

But I can understand how it would be jarring if you weren’t even thinking of that possibility. This theory might still be wrong, and the writers may just be trying to deceive us. So those in the “Miriam is not alive” camp might still be right. No need to sign on to the most popular theory.

Cathyx, my bad. I remember seeing the comment that you are referring to but I don't remember the writer saying that she had seen the novela. For that reason, I thought of them as opinions and didn't pay that much attention because we do that all the time. (In fact, I couldn't tell you 1 thing that was on the list even if you paid me). Well for money, I'd make up something and hope it was on the list.:-).

.

I did like Destilando Amor, it was my first & got me into this. I does star the 1st lady of Mexico & Yanez. It's has some interesting points about the tequila industry. It's regulated in Mex similar to champaign in France.

Vivi: I didn't care for STuD because Val drove me crazy. I have a hard time with unreasonable characters. I can barely deal with them when they're supporting, but when they're leads . . . It also took way too long for FC to show up :) Wasn't it about 6 weeks in. At least it seemed that long. Ivana's crocodile tears drove me crazy, too. I'm glad we didn't see that with Xi.

Why do the TV y Novelas people not like SN? I thought about suscribing to the mag, but if I'm not likely to see an article about her periodically, I'm not interested.

Mena, thanks for your very true comments. It's easy for a newbie to forget that we're dealing in fantasy. Long time viewers have seen patterns enough times to be better judges of the likely outcome. I'll bet that when some incident strays too much from one of the many usual patterns, I'm sure it sticks out like a sore thumb to a seasoned viewer while some of us are scratching our heads and asking ourselves "now how did he/ she know that"?

So in the meantime I'm very thankful for viewerville comments. They enhance my recap addiction :-)

Nanette- I'm sure there will be many articles about her in the magazine, as she is a big tn star. Jarocha (our amiga in Mexico who knows all about tns) is the one who first clued us in when SN wasn't nominated at all for MEPS (her first Televisa tn). We were all scratching out heads about that one. But apparently it's a combination of SN originally being an Azteca actress (not from the Televisa stables) and not kissing the a** of the TV y Novelas editor. One year was bad, but two in a row? We'll see if they have the nerve to leave her out of nominations this time too. It's just not fair. I'm fine with the awards basically being a popularity contest, but at least they should nominate all the actors who actually ARE popular. Judging who is a better actor than whom is another matter and totally based on individual perception.

Vivi, it seems to me that if it's more of a popularity contest, (and I mean popular among TV and Novela's editor), then it has no real meaning. I admire her if she's not willing to do what it takes to be popular with the editor. It means she has integrity.

Vivi: the other clue for TN deaths is the music they play for the dying... of course we never saw Miriam in the hospital but the requiem style of music was never played for her. Not even when Abe told Dan she was dead. That was my first clue that she did not die. (;-)

I'm pretty sure that SN was nominated as best actress for CME, but she did not win. Jorge Salinas did win I think.

LoriLoo- You're right that they finally nominated her last time, and she should have won.

Unless you see somebody die always suspect they didn't.

You are so right UA!

Sebastian Rulli didn't win for "Teresa". They robbed him of an award he deserved.

I hope SN gets nominated. I just love this actress.

I couldn't agree more with Foxy: "It's easy for a newbie to forget that we're dealing in fantasy. Long time viewers have seen patterns enough times to be better judges of the likely outcome." I also appreciate all the comments here very much.

I've peeked ahead, but I have been very careful about what I say about future events so as not to spoil anything for anyone. Most the time, I just don't say anything about future events. When I peek, I don't always view the whole episode and lord knows I don't understand everything, so some things I have no knowledge of and those things I feel ok about speculating about.

One reason I've always been fascinated by telenovelas, even when watching them with voice-overs on Polish TV so that I couldn't use them to practice Spanish, is that they often have plot elements that are not that far from my own life or that of my family.

And that happens even when I don't expect it. I met my father when I was 31, perhaps ten years older than Natalia is in this TN. Natalia's father claims, falsely, that he did not know about Natalia. When I contacted my father for the first time, he claimed falsely (not to me, thank God) but to his other daughters and their mother that he had never known about my existence.

Natalia's mother always told her, correctly, that she and Natalia's father were married. My mother always told me, falsely as it turned out, that she and my father were married. (Fortunately I tricked the true story out of my aunt shortly after my mother's death, a couple years before I met my father.)

By the way, or perhaps not by the way, I really want Amanda to come up with solid evidence of their marriage or Dionisio's knowledge of his daughter and to throw it in his face in front of Natalia. Damn, but I want to see a scene like that.

Thanks Mena love your recap and your real good name for Agustina-self Justina. Gee this is what I've been thinking all along that she is really a snotty haughty and vengeful woman who can never forgive Don Daniel for having slighted her and it's all about her really.
Anon 207- thanks for your analysis of the malquerida inheritance. I was about to ask this since I don't know Mexican legal laws regarding inheritance. And so true to form, Daniel and Camilla rightfully respect and recognize Pablo as the real heir of Don Daniel or least their co-heir. On the other hand I couldn't believe that Cayetano lawyer's suggestion to turn over the 50% to another person other than his kin, and Cayetano thinking about Hissy, for the meantime? Is that legally for real?
Vivi; Thanks for the tips on the good tns. I feel at the same time behind but happy that I could avail of these tns to catch up. Why don't they just scrap Corona de lagrimas and keep QET. I watched this latter one and there is an interesting plot. I do think that CDL is a waste of time especially the crying and desperation that goes on and on and on whereas there could be better plot within that can be dealt with.Co-bloggers love you all and your funny and intelligent contributions. I look forward everynight to your comments.

Variopinta: The worse the show, the funnier the recaps are. That one is great (Bruno!). Also see the recaps to El Talisman. Very funny.

You just never know which ones are going to be hits. I'm stuck having to watch QET online with it's variable quality and yet they keep Corona that this fine group of novelajudges say is terrible? Doesn't make sense. And what's with Amores Verdaderos, starring a ninja and a guy who needs sunglasses inside? And Salsero the salsa instructor? Seriously? I imagine the recaps on that one are hysterical.
