Amor Bravío #131 (Uni 126) Wed 2/20/13 “Patan Parenthood, Pasion Prohibida, Perplexed Partners en el Pueblo and Premeditated Proposal Prevails (Nooooooo!)”

Past News del Pueblo:

Viv and Rafa’s Place:  Viv says goodbye to Rafa as he leaves to visit his editor in DF and tells him that she loves him.  Rafa answers that she needs one thing, he needs another and they just need time, nothing more. Rafa leaves and Viv ponders perplexed.

Outside LaMQ Office:  Dio steps out of the ranch office and takes the opportunity to needle Dan as he passes by about leaving La MQ (and Camila, of course).  Dan tells Dio to stay away from Camila but Dio responds that he will not need to go to her, but that it will be Camila that comes to Daddy Dio (blehhh!).  Miriam calls from upstairs for Dan and he leaves – but not without pausing to glare while Dio gives Miriam a cheery greeting.  Dio and Dan continue to glare at one another as Dan climbs the stairs!

New News del Pueblo:

Pueblo Partyline:  Mariano is talking to Camila while he is putting Darling Ana to beddy-bye.  Mariano asks Camila if she wants him to go there to be with her.  She wisely declines, appreciating knowing he would be nearby, but it is late in the evening.  They talk about the doctor giving Miriam the news that she is well enough to hear the truth.  Mariano wonders what will happen if the doctor doesn’t clear Miriam?  Camila has never considered that possibility.  She feels sooo bad because Dan is leaving the ranch tomorrow.  Mariano says he understands it is so hard when someone you love leaves.  Between Ana-Maria and himself, however, it was life that decided that she would leave, not him.  He imagines that when one makes the decision to leave (and is still alive), it is worse.  Camila understands what Mariano is trying to say, …. once she had to say goodbye to Luis ….but this is different because this love is alive, it’s rebellious and impetuous!

The scene closes and Viewerville gets a view of the moon in the night sky telling us that time is passing.  A new day at the ranch begins with the bulls being let out of the corrals.  The day is a blank page for our star-crossed lovers’ story to continue.

Stairway in La MQ:  Luzma and Pablo descend together and run into Dan.  Dan is happy to see the pair and to know that things are returning to normal.  Luzma tells Dan that his and Camila’s love will triumph like hers and Pablo’s.  Dan asks Pablo to care for Camila and says he does not trust Dio.  Dan warns Pablo to never leave her alone with Dio and to call Dan if he senses anything strange going on .  Pablo responds with the now standard refrain (but with a different grammatical phrasing!) “Cuentas con ella!”    Dan tells Pablo he takes comfort knowing that Pablo will be there. Pablo also wishes that all go well with Camila and Dan. Hugs are had by all.

Jail del Pueblo: Aaron is working with LeoSordido on his lessons.  Leo hands in the lesson and Aaron proudly announces Leo has written his first work “luz” or “sol” to which LeoSordido vehemently objects.  He snatches the paper back and adds an “ma”  and Aaron figures out what Leo is attempting to communicate - Luzma. Aaron finally catches  on with LeoSordido’s “word” and he tells Leo that he knows the entire story between Leo and Luzma and the baby.  He informs Leo that Luzma is fine (Note to Aaron:  Really?! Mr  Herald-of-Humanity-Formerly-Known-as-Aaron? Leo deserves any news?!) but the baby was miscarried several days ago.  Leo goes berserk and requires restraints upon hearing the news.  Leo tries to choke Mr Herald-of-Humanity and the guards have to pull him off as Aaron tells Leo to “calm himself”.

Streets of El Pueblo:  Switching the mood of our story, the scene reverts to a peppy Nat strolling down the streets of El Pueblo. She stops to buy a copy of Novia magazine and sits on a bench happily turning and perusing the pages.   She comments ecstatically about how handsome Yucky Yago will look all dressed up in his wedding finery.

Jail of El Pueblo: Our story returns to LeoSordido being dragged back to his cell and thrown up against the cell’s bars growling in rage.  Further needing to emphasize that Leo is crazy, the writers have told the music director to add some very dark music.  We get the idea that crazy Leo is not happy with the news he has just received.

El Hostel del Pueblo:  Osvaldo, Padre and Amanda are sitting around the table discussing the recent Nat news.  Osvaldo asks how Yago could have changed his mind so drastically after being so reluctant (renuente).  He asks Amanda if she believed Yago and if he seemed sincere.  She cannot say for sure.  Padre offers that  perhaps Cayetano pressured Yago to change his stance.  Amanda says she thought this too, but also knows that in this day and age, young people don’t feel the need to capitulate to pressure to marry.  Padre wonders that since Yago is the one of the Albarran brothers most concerned about his inheritance, perhaps Cayetano held this over Yago’s head as a threat.  Amanda sighs hearing this and says that she doesn’t want to consider this because shotgun marriages never work.  She doesn’t want to see Nat hurt especially seeing her now.  All Nat can talk about is the wedding, the clothes and the party, etc.  Padre says that this is how young people are, but worries that Nat might be hurt worse if she hears later on that Yago proposed under pressure.  Amanda agrees and wonders how they can investigate?  Padre says he will look into it when Nat comes to visit him about the wedding plans.

Albarran Dining Room:  Darling Ana asks when Rocio will return from the hospital.  Refugio hopes it is soon because a hospital stay for so many days can be depressing.  Yago points out that Mariano’s house still isn’t ready and he is sure Cayetano doesn’t want Rocio living in the main house.  Anywho, Yago says, he has an announcement to make.  He is going to marry Nat.  Ana is thrilled and hugs her tio.  Mariano surmises that Yago knows the baby is his and is glad that Yago  is stepping up to assume his responsibilities.  Bratgirl screeches that Yago is giving in to the manipulations.  Que??  Mariano is baffled as to what manipulations Bratgirl is talking about.  Yago shuts her up in several directions and diverts by saying that Bratgirl thinks that Cayetano’s stance (about assuming responsibility) is a manipulation.  Yago repeats his plan to do what is right (lo correcto) and marry Nat and will keep them posted on the plans.  Viewerville is treated to a few looks of consternation around the dining room table and Yago takes leave.

Courtyard of La MQ:  Ranch hands are packing Dan’s truck with the suitcases while Dante watches and offers sympathy to Dan.  Dio and Agustina stand in the doorway and gloat .  Dio says “Al fin!” and Agustina anticipates tranquility will return to La MQ.  Miriam and Co. come over to say goodbye and offer wishes that they were not too much of a bother.  Agustina lies to her and says not to worry  and that she hopes Miriam recovers and can return to Chile.  Camila, surrounded in her air of aloneness approaches the despedida.  As Camila approaches, Agustina whispers to Dan to leave and to stop torturing her daughter (martirizarse) once and for all.   The star-crossed lovers look at one another longingly as their music plays in the background.  Dio gives another gloating  “Adiossss” and we hear the words to the song ….”no voy a olvidarte jamasssss….” The camera goes wide and long, focused on Camila, very alone in the very big courtyard.  “ Me herida mortallllll…”

Doorway to the La MQ House:  Agustina insists she needs to go to Camila while Dio scolds that if Camila had listened from the beginning, this wouldn’t have happened.  Agustina glares at Dio as he departs and she marches off to see Camila.

Street of Aculco:  Miriam, Dan and Dante stand outside the new casita in town they are about to move into.  Miriam tells Dan that if she had known how hard he was going to take this move, she would never have asked him to move in the first place.  Miriam comments that leaving LaMQ seems to be causing Dan some emotional pain.  She asks Dante if he doesn’t agree with her.  Dante gives some lame excuse to explain what Miriam is sensing –  Dan seems that way because of the rush to move, whatever!  Miriam persists that Dan looks as if he is suffering from some type of nostalgia.  Dan plays “dumb”.  WTQ?  Miriam says Dan has fallen in love with La MQ  and it has transformed him just as it did his mother with some kind of charm (hechizo).

Courtyard of LaMQ:  Agustina has come to counsel and console Camila.  Agustina assures Camila that she understands that it hurts that Dan has left, but it is for the best.  Camila protests that the love of her life is gone and how can this be for the best? Agustina adds that Camila has much to live for – Agustina, the ranch, the bulls…. Camila says she knows what she has but still, Dan isn’t with her.  Agustina counsels Camila that she cannot set her happiness on the destruction of a marriage - Miriam is Dan’s legal wife and she also has his bebe.  She reminds Camila “that which does not start well does not end well”  (la que mal empieza mal acaba).  She urges Camila to not do more damage and to let it go… “Just let it go!”  Camila falls into her mother’s arm in a puddle of tears.  Viewerville  senses there will be more star-crossing to come.

Back in the Street of Aculco:  Dan tells Miriam that places don’t change people.  Miriam disagrees and points out how Dan has changed in many ways:  he has different people around him as well as customs.  She understands that this happened with Agatha because she was lost in love with Don Dan Sr. but she perplexed about Dan being affected this way and cannot decipher this (descifrarlo).  Dan says lots of things have changed him – her coma, his daughter being born far away from him.  Miriam reflects and says that, “the La MQ is a magical place”.

Back at the Courtyard of LaMQ by the Fountain:  Agustina continues her attempts to console Camila (with a sincere effort, but leaving a bit to be desired).  Camila says she cannot let go, and that they never did anything wrong.  She cries that she will die without  Dan.    Agustina says no one dies from love; after all, Camila survived Luis’ death.  Camila says his death was a first hurt and she doesn’t know if she can survive another one.  Agustina insists that Camila can and begs her to please not do something to someone else what Camila would not like done to her.  She worries that Camila will not survive the guilt if she does.  Agustina advises that Camila will not be the only one to ever renounce a forbidden love – a love that cannot live in the light!

Partyline between Osvaldo and Commander Juarez:  Juarez tells Osvaldo that Chonila (the lady who saw Isa leave the hostel after killing Padre Baldomero) has made her declaration.  The Commander is looking for Isa and cannot locate her.  Osvaldo does not know where she is besides the Hotel Imperial and offers to help locate her, but the Commander says he will keep trying.

Airport in Mexico:  Cayetano and Isa stroll in the airport, arm in arm.  Isa asks Cayetano if she can know why he asked her to pack a suitcase with some clothes for different climates.  She asks where they are going.  Cayetano announces that they are off to the Bahamas to get married and then go on a cruise in the Caribbean (Nooooooo, don’t do it Cayetanto, says viewerville – on the other hand, viewerville considers offering to book the pair on a certain disabled cruise ship last seen docked off the coast of Mobile,  Alabama).  Wowwww, says Isa with bubbling insincerity only she can show.  As a last detail, Isa asks for Cayetano’s phone and turns it off, allegedly along with her own.  She explains that this is so no one will interrupt them.  It will be just the two of them – the spider and the fly.

Partyline between Mariano and Commander Juarez:  Commander Juarez tells Mariano that he is looking for Cayetano.  When Mariano tells him that Cayetano is on a trip with Isa, the Commander warns Mariano about Isa leaving the country.  She is suspect numero uno for the murder of age-appropriate fashion as well as the murder of Padre Baldomero.  Que?  Commander tells Mariano that it is urgent that they find Cayetano but to be careful (precavido) not to tip their hand to Isa.  If they do, Cayetano may try to hide Isa and he will then be an accomplice to Isa’s crimes.  Mariano is left muy impactada.

Courtyard of La MQ:  Pablo and Luzma talk together about Camila’s woes.  Luzma notices that Pablo has stayed out of the trials between Dan and Camila.  He admits he has because he knows Mariano likes Camila and essentially tells Luzma it is a conflict for him out of the loyalty for his brother.  Luzma says she understands.  Meanwhile, Mayela arrives for the first day at the office with Pablo.  Luzma thanks her again for all Mayela did for her.  Mayela and Pablo leave for a day at the office and Luzma goes to visit with Camila.

Cabana de Camila:  Luzma commiserates with Camila and says she knows exactly how she feels.  She assures Camila that this separation is just temporary. But, Camila says it will never be the same again because of what Agustina has made Camila see – that Camila will have been the one that separates Dan and the family who are guilty of nothing.  Luzma insists that Camila that she is guilty of nothing either.  Luzma assures Camila that when Miriam is well again and she learns that Dan loves Camila, she won’t want to return to the love she and Dan had before because of guilt.  Camila wonders if this is true – she knows that she, Camila,  would want to fight for the love of her life.  Luzma says she thinks Miriam is the type of woman that would not want to love to be something to fight over.  The two BFFs hug.  Luzma goes to OT and tells Camila that NewGirl is at the ranch and will be working with Pablo today.  Camila is not feeling like talking much but is so grateful for what NewGirl did for Luzma, she will go anyway.  The two BFFs dry the tears, Camila catches and corrects Luzma using the formal “you”,  and they go off together to give NewGirl the proper bienvenida!

Hospital Waiting Room Numero Uno:  Mariano tries to reach Cayetano by phone. Rocio’s doctor emerges from behind the big steel doors and tells him that soon he will release Rocio to go home.  He reminds Mariano that Rocio will need language and movement (motriz) therapy in order to recover. Viewerville hopes the good doc throws in an order to treat chronic snobby-itis as well.

Dio’s Office:  Dio is happy that Yucky Yago has done what Dio asked him to do – propose to Nat.  Dio adds that he will now do what he promised.  Dio is going to give the happy couple a house but reminds Yago that Nat must feel luuuvvvved and that Yago better never consider asking Nat for a divorce.  Yago says there is something he doesn’t understand about all this.  He wonders why Dio is going to all this trouble since Nat doesn’t consider Dio a dad.  Well, funny you mention that , says Dio, and informs Yago that is where Yago will be called to duty again.  Dio says that Nat is his daughter but she didn’t grow up with him and doesn’t know him yet.  Yago is going to be the link (vinculo) to help Nat get closer to Dio.

Church del Pueblo:  Speaking of…..Nat comes bouncing into the church to ask Padre Anselmo about how to arrange the wedding.  Padre asks Nat what Yago said to her and then asks her if she thinks Yago was sincere.  Of course he was, responds Nat (in simpleton mode).  She is sure that Yago was sincere!  Padre tells Nat he just wants to be sure that Yago is marrying for luuuuvvvvv.  She assures him and Padre goes along with the fairy tale and they prepare to discuss the formal steps (tramites) to getting married.

Back in Dio’s Office:  Dio explains that Nat luuvvvvs Yago and that when a female luuvvvs her partner, the partner can persuade her to do many things.  Yago reminds Dio that Nat is not a child.  Dio scoffs at Yago – por favor! -  and says that Yago managed to sweet talk (engatusarse)  Nat to get her to sleep with him so Yago can just keep doing the same thing.  Dio assures Yago that he will get all he wants (dinero – Dio reminds Yucky Yago that pesos are his weakness) as long as Nat is happy.  Oh, and one more thing Dio decides to add, Yago needs to know that there will be no skimping (escatimar) on the wedding.  After all, we have an Albarran marrying a Ferrer – que sociadad!  Dio finishes the deal with Yago by giving him a watch and welcomes his new son-in-law into the family.  Hijo!

Corrals of La MQ:  Bratgirl comes to needle Rodolfo that Nat is going to marry Yago but adds that Yago is only doing it because he is being pressured.  Bratgirl wants to join forces with Rodolfo to interfere with the wedding.  Rodolfo refuses and as the TN earth spins in reverse momentarily,  he says “No cuentas conmigo!”  Bratgirl tries another tack and tries to make a movida on Rod.  Rodolfo drops her on her proverbial patooty and says “los hombres can say no too!”.  Bratgirl is left all behind, alone with her lower lip protruding!

Tostito Moment at El Hostel:  Amanda is cooking up a special breakfast recipe of tinga (shredded meat and chile dish it seems) and Teresa comes in to sample it.    Tostitos tostadas, crema, something else and hold the onions, she requests.  Upstairs, Nat calls Luzma to tell Luzma that Yago has asked her to marry him.

Dan and Miriam’s New House in El Pueblo:  Dan, Dante, Miriam and bebe are moving into the new place.  Miriam loves the warm friendly (acogedora) casita.  Dan offers to go buy all the items that the family will need that are not already there. Miriam promises to cook her way to Dan’s heart and to bake a cake. Dan bounces the baby and heads off to drop Dante at the hostel and then go to the super.

Office at LaMQ:  Mayela, Pablo and Camila get acquainted.  Pablo tells Camila that Luzma agreed to help with Rocio when she leaves the hospital.   Camila, looking surprised, still remarks that Pablo has a great lady by his side and that Luzma has a heart of gold. Pablo agrees and says he would never trade her for anything.  New Girl looks at the pair of them seriously bug-eyed. I do mean seriously.

Community Reading Room:  Aaron asks Viv about what is going on.  Viv says that Rafa has left town before the pair could settle things. Aaron tells Viv to give Rafa time.  Meanwhile Padre arrives and, with all  due respect, proceeds to open his prayerful mouth and insert his blessed sandal inside.  He asks Viv if she has told Rafa about Roman – that is, about adopting Roman.  She sheepishly looks at Aaron, who is standing there looking stunned – and says no.

Office of LaMQ:  Osvaldo laments alongside Camila about her lousy luck with love.   But on the bright side, he informs Camila that Commander Juarez is ready to press charges against Isa for the death of Padre Baldomero.  It seems that the autopsy has shown that Padre Baldomero was suffocated.  Camila says “that woman” (Isa) is abominable!  She offers her help to the Commander via Osvaldo because she was at the hostel when Padre was killed.  Osvaldo makes note of that and the TN world returns to spinning in the normal direction as he tells Camila to “cuentas conmigo”!

Hostel:  Dante checks into the hostel and Dan is introducing him to Amanda.  Dan begs pardon but has to run to the super.  Amanda offers to help Dan at the super as a consultant (asesoria).   Phone jingles and Dan answers.  It is our corruptible clinician Dr Baltierra calling Dan to make an appointment and give him “The News”.  Que?  Dan doesn’t want to wait and tells the doc to spill the frijoles!  Doc does just that.  Miriam, he tells Dan, has an aneurism that is ready to blow should she hear any frightening or stressful news (sobresalto) at all!  This could kill her!  Dan holds the phone looking grim and the camera freezes his face as tonight’s capitulo closes.   Viewerville senses that the stars are crossing themselves ever more between Dan and Camila!

Avances:  “No es justo!” cries Camila.

Mena

Bien hecho, Mena.

As I got to the last part I started hoping that all this doctor did was lie to Daniel and that the medical records still tell the truth. That would leave open the possibility that the doctor treating Rocio will find the truth and be able to tell Daniel.

Daniel could go neanderthal on the corruptible doctor and force him to admit what El Diablo was able to do to him. There's enough time left for this to happen.

Interesting that when stupid Gussie told Camila she had so much to live for... and mentioned herself first. I am really beginning to despise this woman.

Myelena has the hots for Pablo; no question. When is he going to introduce her to Rodolfo (whom I am praying will not be the victim of that virus)?

Finally, here are the lyrics to Olvidarte Jamas:

"Voy a llorar todas las noches ahora que te vas de mí
Voy a vivir en el infierno cuando ya no estés aquí
Voy a temblar de tanto miedo
Voy a buscarte hasta morir

Voy a rogarle a las estrellas
Que donde estés te vaya bien
Que no haya nadie en esta tierra que te vaya a hacer sufrir
Que sepan darte en otros brazos lo que soñaba para ti

Yo no voy a olvidarte jamás
Yo no voy a dejarte de amar
Vas metida en mis sueños, mi sangre, mis ojos, en todo mí ser la herida mortal

Yo no voy a olvidarte jamás
Yo no voy a dejarte de amar
Aun que pasen los días, los años, y sane la herida que me hace pedazos
Yo te voy a esperar

Voy a buscar en otras bocas lo que jamás encontrare
Voy a contarle a todo el mundo que me amaste y que te ame
Voy a esconderme del veneno de ya no volverte a ver

Yo no voy a olvidarte jamás
Yo no voy a dejarte de amar
Vas metida en mis sueños, mi sangre, mis ojos, en todo mí ser la herida mortal

Yo no voy a olvidarte jamás
Yo no voy a dejarte de amar
Aun que pasen los días, los años, y sane la herida que me hace pedazos
Yo te voy a esperar

Vas metida en mis sueños, mi sangre, mis ojos, en todo mí ser mí la herida mortal

Yo no voy a olvidarte jamás
Yo no voy a dejarte de amar
Aun que pasen los días, los años, y sane la herida que me hace pedazos
Yo te voy a esperar"

Thank you Mena, Brilliant. A thoroughly enjoyable read with my morning coffee.

Mr  Herald-of-Humanity ought to go back to the Dr. Phil School of pop psychiatry before attempting to treat bona fide psychos like El Cerdo.

Hiss-adora is "suspect numero uno for the murder of age-appropriate fashion" LOL!

Fab vocab today, ¡gracias!

I wonder if that gift watch Dio gave to Yucko doesn't contain a tracking device or detonation device. This guy doesn't give nuthin' for free. And Yag was so greedy to get it.

What on earth significance is the name Ferrer if the guy switches his identity like changing his socks? Society families are generally listed and well-known.

I never suspected Mayalen until last night when her eyes bugged out lookng at Pablo.

More grief ahead. I was screaming at the TV when Isa snagged Tonto's cellphone. —Agnes

Mena- Wonderful recap. I giggled every time you called one of the calls a partyline. LOL! Unfortunately, none of these phone calls were much fun. I would have to give Mariano an award for best impactado reaction after hearing that the woman his father has gone on a mystery trip with is a wanted murderer of a priest. “Qué?!” New Girl comes in second with her inappropriate bug eyed reaction to hearing, once again, that Pablo is hopelessly in love with his WIFE. Move on NG. There’s a hot capataz wondering around, who is so sure of his manhood that he can say NO to a woman. Loved that! You go Rodolfo!

I wanted to slap both Dio and Gussy in their smug faces as they gloated over the departure of Dan and the Chilean Posse. I appreciated Gussy’s efforts to be there for Camila in her hour of need, but did she have to do it by turning on the Mother Guilt Meter up to the highest setting? Throwing it in Cam’s face that she and Dan started out their relationship as an affair, almost making it seem that Dan now turning out to be the married one is some kind of divine punishment for how their relationship began.

OK Miriam—it seems that Dan is in love with MQ and it’s obviously hurting him to leave the place. Is it too much of a leap to wonder if he’s in love with SOMEONE in MQ, just like his mom was?

That's wandering around...

Agnes- I also wondered (proper use this time) if Dio had some kind of gps device in the watch to track of his yerno. Dio's attitude about women is so paternalistic and chauvinistic. If Camila had listened to me/us she wouldn't be in this mess now... A woman in love will listen to her man...

Good grief! What century does he think he's living in?

Vivi: "yes" to Rodolfo for saying "no" to Bratgirl!

You know I thought the expression on Gussie's face last night briefly showed guilt at her role in sending Dan and family away.
I think the actor playing Yago is doing a good job. His demeanor, going from beaten to "gimme- gimme" when presented with the watch. I never even thought about that watch being rigged.

I throw out a vote that Ileana might be the virus victim. She seems a superfluous pain in the patoot right now. Or maybe Yago will try to please his future father-in-law and get involved. That would put him out of the way for the future Rod/Nat couple.

Cindy

I also thought about there being a tracking device in that watch. Brilliant move on El Diablo's part. An expensive watch is a totally appropriate gift for a wealthy man to give to a future son-in-law and a greedy jerk like Iagho would leap at a gift like that.

However, unless he completely changes his mind and actually comes to love Natalia Iagho is making an impossible deal with the devil.

As to what century El Diablo thinks he's living in, it's only a slightly later one than Federico Rivera of AMF lives in.

Thanks Mena for the recap but I have something to say about this line. "Mariano is talking to Camila while he is putting Darling Ana to beddy-bye".
Despite your annoying reference to "Darling Ana", she is no baby and Mariano should be ashamed of himself sleeping in the same bed with her. Mariana smiling and stroking and kissing Ana whenever she's is sight is not the same as Dan playing with Darling Agatha. I can just imagine Mariano trying to lovingly tossing Ana in the air like she's a toddler. Yes, hurry and find Mariano a woman to share some of his bottled up affection with.

In all fairness to Mariano times can't be easy for his daughter. She left her maternal grandmother's home to live with her dad, I think she's lost her maternal grandmother since, her paternal one is now gravely ill, her grandparents have been divorced, and her grandpa is about to marry the Wicked Witch of the West.

Who might decide to kill her.

No argument that Mariano needs a woman, but he can't leap into that out of desperation. If Camila hadn't met Daniel she would be the right woman for him, but that ship sailed a long time ago.

Thanks Mena great thorough job except you left out one very important detail. You forgot to mention that Dan was wearing a very sexy tight shirt when he was moving into the house. Yummy yummy.

Dion sure is getting the upper hand right now. In the past, the good guys would keep even with the bad guys. We need some breakthrough by the scooby doo gang.

I doubt Mariano sleeps with Ana. He was putting her to bed and stayed to make a phone call.

Thanks for the great recap Mena, even down to the details of the tostito moment.

That scene with Leo totally creeped me out. I had to turn on mute and look away.

What if the doc lied (based on current knowledge), but it will turn out that the results of the remaining tests will make it true?

Miriam knows how to get fiesty and angry, so she should be strong enough to get little hints along the way. What will happen when she meets Amanda or Nat or Padre or Vivi or Aaron? She should begin to figure out that something is amiss in her time/space continuum.

Dan can use the excuse that the doc called with new information said that she has to be treated delicately so he can't sleep with her afterall. He should tell her the truth about what the doc said do that she at least knows that they are walking on eggshells around her.

Maybe Carlos is right and Vivi is still secretly pining for Aaron to be her man. I don't see Aaron as sexless, I just see him as restrained. I love Rafa, but it would be interesting if Aaron was holding back because of the "bros over *women*" rule (made the appriopriate substitution for the phrase there.)

Love Rodolfo. And yea, NG needs to get a grip asap! If Ileana was redeemable, I could see her with Rodolfo because they have chemistry and he calls her on her stuff. Despite being money-hungry, I suspect that Illy may actually be attracted to Rodolfo's integrity, alpha maleness, and just all over *sigh*ness.

Going back to yesterday, I would have preferred the scene where Omar threatened Yago more if Omar was doing it because *he* wanted Nat to be happy. Omar spent time with Nat and seems to have a conscience every now and then. It would be interesting if he wanted to protect her because he had feelings for her. His character should be fleshed out more.

Nat is suddenly thrust into the role of being mob princess.

Excellent Mena. Good job.

Well, thank goodness that yesterday Vivi reassured me that I needn't worry about Mayela, or after seeing her with Luzma and Pablo last night would have me concerned about a cute, petite, doe-eyed anvil for our happy couple.

Carlos

Omar is just a thug. A better class of one than El Gordo from LFdD or Rutilio in LQNPA because he can at least enter drawing rooms, though I doubt he can make conversation in them. He knows that Nat is the boss's daughter but it would take a cold fish to work for El Diablo.

Carlos- Have faith in Pablo. :)

Mena, thank you for another great recap.

“It will be just the two of them – the spider and the fly.” How true that is.

“Rodolfo refuses and as the TN earth spins in reverse momentarily, he says “No cuentas conmigo!”” LOL!

Sí, Amanda. Me gustaría probar tu tinga rica de una receta especial, también. *drool*

“New Girl looks at the pair of them seriously bug-eyed. I do mean seriously.” How does she even DO that?

I am hoping that the corruptible doctor will advise Daniel to get some more tests done and send him off to a non-corruptible doctor. Well, a girl can hope, can’t she?

Netgirl: Natalia as a mob princess? That’s funny - and true! Is Dan still looking for excuses not to sleep with Miriam? I’m getting the feeling he might be all done with that promise. Jerk.

So Dante is staying at the hostel? That's what I thought he had said, but someone posted the other day that he was going to stay with Dan and MM. I'm glad to see my Spanish skills are quite that sucky. And I'm really glad that Dante and Teresa will be bumping into each other because I like those two together.

I wonder how Isa's going to avoid being taken in by the cops for Padre B's death when she comes back to town? She better make sure she doesn't come back a widow, or else the cops will REALLY be on her case.

Mena thanks for your great recap.

Vivi - I LOLed when NG went moon-eyed over Pablo AGAIN as I thought of your earlier comments. She really needs to understand that ship sailed long ago. She needs to meet Rodolfo.

Though this is a painful time in the TN, people are saying things that will come back to bite them. Gussy telling Cam the latter's relationship started out wrong; will she go to jail first or learn about her demonic spouse. Dio saying if Cam had listened to them; as Cathyx noted, we need some victories by the good guys as our two villains seem to be having a field day and fools & bulls may pay the ultimate price.

The chat b/t Amanda, Padre, and Os makes me feel that the reality anvil will come to Nat's door the only question is will it be before or after the wedding? Does Dio think she will be happy when she learns he forced Iago to married her? Once again he should have consulted and listened to Isa b/c she would not advise that.

Just because Pablo may not actually stray is no guarantee that Luzma won't feel threatened by a close working relationship with NG.

I gather that TN are notorious for wrapping everything up at the last minute. Will there be time for us to see how Yago shows his true colors (besides yellow) once Dio (and thus Omar) is dead, jailed, or otherwise neutralized? Or time to see how Nat deals with his re-abandonment if/when it comes to that?
Chris in FL

Just want to comment before reading everyone else's.

Mena: Great recap as usual.

I’m afraid Leo will go from getting out of prison, kidnapping Luz and spiriting her away to Leo getting out of prison and killing Luz because he’s going to blame her for the death of the baby.

Love the little pat Yago gave Ileana on his way out of the dining room.

As I was watching Agustina talking to Cam and saw her smiling way too much for my liking, I thought her advice was probably bad. According to Mena, what she is saying is reasonable. I just wish I could get over the idea that it’s coming more from a self-absorbed place than helpful.

“Viewerville hopes the good doc throws in an order to treat chronic snobby-itis as well.”—this member of Viewerville hopes a good looking, age appropriate physical therapist might turn up on the scene.

Why is Ileana still in the TN?

NG is beginning to worry me. She needs to meet Rodolfo—stat.

How can they arrest Isa for Padre’s B’s death on the evidence they have?

Nanette

Chris- Oh, NG will cause trouble. But some were worried that the trouble would be the result of Pablo actually being attracted to her and straying. The more time passes, the more obvious it becomes that that isn't going to happen. It's easier to fix a misunderstanding (Luzma thinking something is going on), than an actually screwup (or screw).

If unspecified lingering aftereffects from the coma were enough to postpone resumption of connubial bliss, I daresay the diagnosis of an (inoperable, of course) aneurism will help maintain the renewed chastity of our favorite quasi-bigamist.

Sort of confused why Dio took that tack. In Dio's private reality, wouldn't a satisfied Dan be more likely to switch back to Miriam for keeps and clear Dio's path to Cam?
CinF

CinF: "Sort of confused why Dio took that tack. In Dio's private reality, wouldn't a satisfied Dan be more likely to switch back to Miriam for keeps and clear Dio's path to Cam? "---I wondered the same thing.

Thank you, Mena. Really liked your asides. :))

Agustina...I don't know about her. She's an odd duck for sure. I get this feeling that the only anvil she is going to face is the money scam. Camila is such a generous person. In spite of her mother's manipulation behind the scenes, I think Camila will readily absolve her of all the hurts she has caused people. I don't see a satisfactory karma for Agustina.

I know it's only a story, but darn it, I so love cattle. I think they are such beautiful animals. The thought of Camila losing those cattle to a deadly virus is hard to take.

Hard Times at La MQ, that is for sure. It is really, really hard watching Dio and Isa causing so much harm.

Fatima

CinF, we don't know yet if the doc will reverse his go-ahead for resuming sexual relations that he gave Miriam the other day. However, what I was referring to is the on-going erosion of Dan-n-Cam's relationship and trust. The way things are going, I don't think Dan is going to keep any of his promises to Camila.

Great recap Mena, I especially love the translations. There’s way too many great lines to quote a favorite but I like these: 1) “Wowwww, says Isa with bubbling insincerity only she can show”.
2) “that which does not start well does not end well” (la que mal empieza mal acaba).

I’ve had it with Augustina. I wish Camila would realize just how self-serving her mother’s so called comforting is. She needs to make the subject of Dan off limits between the two of them. Please Cami, cut the cord.

I also enjoyed Yago’s character as he sank to a new low. Everything about his proposal sounded so sincere. Of course our Nat would have accepted even if he had said “I don’t love you, but marry me”. I’ll bet he’s going to play the role as Dio demanded for the money, expensive gifts and unlimited booty calls.

As far as the Dio’s lethal diagnosis for Miriam, don’t forget that as far as Dio knows, Dan and Miriam are already living as man and wife as far as sexual relations are concerned. Perhaps he (Dio) feels that keeping Miriam satisfied sexually would be a high priority for Dan.

Oh my gosh, I hadn’t even thought about the possibility of the aneurism diagnosis (or something just as deadly) becoming a reality for Miriam.

Carolina: I think Dan sleeping with Miriam would be the one thing CAm wouldn't be able to forgive. I think I'd have a hard time under the circumstances.

My predictions:
I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam.
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma.
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia.
I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of.

Cathyx:

My predictions:
I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam.--agree
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. --agree
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia.--I hope.
I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of.--don't agree because I think TN law will take over here. Besides, how is he to get revenge against Isa, which I'm really looking forward to? Writing what she did is not going to be satisfying for me.

Nanette, Leo will get his revenge on Isa by learning to read and write and reveal that it was Isa who did what she did to him and that Isa told Leo to run the padre off the road.

I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam. - We shall see. Based on prior behavior and not wishful thinking, I wouldn't put it past him.

I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. - No prior behavior suggests this will happen.

I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia. - I'm finding it hard to care about this couple at this point. They are both acting like cartoons.

I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of. - No way. We have had way too much foreshadowing for this NOT to happen.

I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam. Agree*
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. Agree, but Mayelin will try until she meets Rodolfo.
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia. Disagree**
I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of. Disagree; why else is he still in the story?

*Anyone else remember the series Silk Stalkings? Rita was supposed to have had the same aneurysm problem (later disputed) and held back on a love life because of it.

**Iagho will marry Natalia, but might get it into his head to either provoke her to demand a divorce or end up being caught cheating on her and get a cement overcoat.

Leo is in the story because he can implicate Isadora.

My predictions:
I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam.--agree
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. –agree
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia. – disagree, I think it will happen. She’s so crazy in love and Yago besides fearing for his life and loving Dio’s bribe offerings makes this a win-win situation for both of them.
I don't think that Leo is going to break out – the jury is still out on this one. On the one hand he doesn’t have to break out in order to write out his case against Isa. On the other hand, he would have to break out in order to attempt to satisfy his obsession with Luzma.

I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam. I agree
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. I agree. In fact, I think Luz will be pregnant with his child before this ends.
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia. OMG, I hope not. I have no prediction here, but the two are both airheads and should fit together well.
I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of. Oh, no. He IS going to get out. They are still paying the actor. If he only wrote his Padre B./Isa story, the writers could just say that he learned to write and spilled the beans and save the salary of the actor.

Cindy

My predictions:
I don't think that Dan will sleep with Miriam. -- PERCEPTION
I don't think that Pablo would cheat on Luzma. PABLO ONLY HAS EYES FOR LUZMA AND NOONE ELSE
I don't think that Yago will actually marry Natalia. NAT IS NOT STUPID; SHE’S JUST SEVERELY HORMONAL; SHE’LL GET HER SENSES BACK
I don't think that Leo is going to break out. Prisons aren't that easy to break out of. LEO IS THE DOWNFALL OF ISADORA –OJO POR--OJO DIENTE POR DIENTE

MYO-

Paquita and Mena - Thanks for the terrific recaps yesterday and today. All caught up.

I don't think Dan is even tempted to sleep with Miriam. His love for her is different now, plus he doesn't want to be the grand amor, not a chump, in Camila's eyes.

Dio is a smart dude. I can see him wanting the best for his daughter and not picturing unwed motherhood for her. But is he not bothered by the lobotomy Nat seems to have undergone? She's become a total idiot, kind of like Gussie. You'd think that would bug him.

Myo - I hope you're right and Nat gets her senses back, but she turned into a dunce with Yago even before she got pregnant.

I meant Dan doesn't want to be a chump in Camila's eyes.

If Daniel had never come to LMQ and Camila had met Mariano (I think she would have still divorced Alonso), I still don't think she would have fallen in love with him. He is not sexy. He is not fun and spontaneous. He is not hot-tempered and lively. She needs all these things in "her man." Mariano is nice, kind, gentle, upstanding, supportive, loyal - the things she needs in a good friend. There is no chemistry there and after Alonso, she wouldn't have just "settled."

New Girl ... ah, New Girl. You came too late. The first day she met Pablo was a couple of days before his wedding. He's never been more than polite to her and thankful for what she did for Luzma, so why the bug eyes? Is she another dreamer like Natalia? Pobrecita!

I don't believe that the sex life or 'satisfaction' of Daniel and Miriam even entered Dio's life. His aim with the lying medico was to ensure that Miriam would have to be handled with care and not told or received any bad news (your husband has another wife) and thus force Daniel to stay with her. How can he tell her he can't go back to Chile now? There's no reason for him to stay, in Miriam's view. He said he was going to deed back his part of the ranch to Camila so he's got no business there any longer. He has to leave and thus open the door for El Diablo.

Soyyo

I don't think El Diablo has enough exposure to Natalia to realize she's becoming as dumb as Gussie. Nor do I think he thinks much about it.

With 36 episodes left, who thinks we'll get to the end of Nat's pregnancy? I'm guessing that everything else needs to happen fairly quickly from here.

Mena, thanks for this wonderful detail recap.

Dio is such a self-centered bastard and so short sighted. He takes pleasure in small gains but fails to see the bigger picture before him. Poisoning the herd could have been brilliant but it’s a sure way to bring back Dan-n-Cam together.

The antidote could only be found in South America or Europe – who’s from South America—Chile? Miriam – she might save the day.

Threatening Yago at gun point by his thugs—if they want someone to corroborate that Dio is a gangster – who now has first hand evidence against him?

He threw his Hector Gutierrez passport in the fire pit and walked away – just stupid move (which reminds me of Passion when Camila’s dad threw the impotency letter in the fire and walk away and his grandson pulled it back out – that letter was the downfall of Camila)

The only game that Dio has and might gain fruits is how he got Augustonta so involved in the insurance scam …

Myo-

Cathyx: Leo's revenge on Isa. Probably as you say, but really would like to see his revenge be a little more--interesting.

Cathyx: I love how you predictions comment has everyone getting their two cents in. Maybe we could make this a regular thing? :)

Loved your recap, Mena.

Before the Vivi/Rafa fall, some thought Vivi was intent on being a single mother to Ramon and some thought she had feelings for Aaron. Why didn't she ever mention her desire to adopt Ramon to Rafa? Was she afraid Rafa wouldn't like the idea? It seems as though she is still interested in adopting him. What goes on there?

Ann-NYC

Nanette, I don't want to see Isadora die. I want her to suffer the humiliation of life in prison. And since she has no family, she wouldn't even get visitors.

Ann, I'm sure she had every intention to tell Rafa. Rafa sprung the engagement on her without Viv expecting it. So she didn't have a chance to tell him.

Interesting comments here and there. Here are my two centavos on a few topics...

I believe that Agustina' character showed shared pain at seeing her daughter's pain. She took no pleasure in telling Camila to let go of the relationship. This real emotion is, of course, separate from the denial she suffers with regard to her personal love life.

Miriam knows something is different. But, she has a long time to go before she can put her foot down and openly insist that Dan is different and demand answers. Right now, everyone rationalizes the differences she senses and I would imagine that anyone waking up after a long coma would be more willing to buy the rationalizations she is being fed.

New Girl and Rod - nahh - I believe she already said she is thinking of going to school in DF and given her age, this suggests college etc.... Rod is man from the country and the land. Doesn't make sense to me that they would resonate with each other other than friends, maybe.

The scene with Dio's henchmen and Yago reminded me of the scene in the Godfather when Sonny jumped on his brother-in-law for mistreating his sister Connie. The godfather gave him "a job", but told the sons to never trusted him with family biz. I believe Dio will do the same with Yago and Yago is dumb enough to think he is getting "something special".

Re: Darling Ana - since it keeps coming up - it is just the perpetual title she was given in the recaps when she was first introduced to the story and everyone commented that she really was very charming. I am afraid I need to disagree with Anon that she is too old ... Darling is an ageless endearing term. Re: Mariano with Darling Ana, IMO, he was just putting his daughter to bed,not sleeping in the same bed with her. I venture to say this is a typical occurrence within very normal and healthy boundaries between parents and their kids. If she protested and he did it anyway, that would be disturbing, but this looks nothing like that. Mariano seems very clear on fatherly love and affection for a daughter and romantic love and affection for a female partner. IMO, he errs on trying so hard to find a love interest for a "happy family".

That is my "more than two centavos worth" ....

Excuse the typos, as usual! I forgot to reply to Cathy ..

LOL re: Dan's new and becoming clothing style. I liked that look with the bomber jacket and i am with you on the tee shirt. He wears it very well!

Cathyx: I think most of us agree that Leo is going to escape from prison. And if Leo can escape, imagine how easy it would be for Isa who is far cleverer. Our people would not be safe. On the side of justice, it isn't unreasonable to expect death for her since she coldbloodedly killed Padre B., Al and Xi.

Wow! Great discussion today. I just got back from meetings in Baltimore where I saw a parked car with the license plate "CHULA". It immediately made me think of Luzma, Cami and AB. :)

Dan sleeping with Miriam-- He will continue to avoid it. BUT, if he and Cam actually decide to end things, after this news about Mir's health, I can't see him finding any more reasons to give himself or Miriam about why he's avoiding it. He wouldn't be the first galan to sleep with a woman other than the galana. And this is legit, since Mir is his wife.

Luz-Pablo-NG-- I've already shared my thoughts. No way would Pablo stray, but NG might try and Luzma might get the wrong idea.

Leo-- This is a veteran character actor. They are keeping him around for something big and that can't happen with him behind bars. His rage at the bad guys and the good guys (Pablo and Dan) and his obsession with Luzma has only been growing day by day. He will channel that somehow.

Ann-NYC- Vivi was about to tell Rafa about the adoption idea the night before the proposal. First she got sidetracked by lovemaking (when they were supposed to go to sleep early for Rafa's surprise), and then everything got thrown out of whack after the proposal drama.

Dan did look good in his city boy clothes. Yum! But he was still wearing his La Malquerida belt...

I have enjoyed all the comments today and have twice tried to post to thank Mena for a great recap, with some funny moments. I do love the image of Isa and Cayetano on that sinking and stinking ship.

For whatever reason, my posts have disappeared into the "service not available" netherworld. So, will will try now again and look forward to the next episode (Friday, right?)

Mena thanks for the recap. UA, from the beginning I have already shown my disgust for the despicable, self serving metiche Agustina. I have never seen such real toxic parent. Remember her biased attention toward Ximena and her lack of support for Camilla. Well she holds the award for best toxic worst mother award. She should pair up with FFFF(Nelson Brizz). She's not fit to be a mother not like Vicky. Uggh, she disgusts me. "How can you say"what comes around goes around" and the Golden rule to your own daughter. I'm just livid about her.
The new bug-eyed girl, please lay off the sweetest pair in this tn. Go find your own.

Vida, I don't know if you saw the toxic mothers weekend discussion, but Augustina is kid stuff compared to that lot.

Hissadora will definitely make the next list.

Dan needs to find out if Miriam's aneurysm can be clipped or coiled. If a nonruptured aneurysm can be coiled, the recovery time is usually about 2 weeks.

Ok amigos, go make your own tingas

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mexican-Tinga/

Augustina consoling me would make me crazy, she says all the wrong things. Her advice sucks too, she advised Camila to marry Alonso.

Chris in FL, don't worry in the least about tying up all the loose ends, sometimes it takes a 2 hr finale but it will happen.

Just saw Cristian de la Fuente on the Premios, muy, muy guapo.

Leonicio has to escape prison to get his revenge on Iza.

I think there will be temptation for Pablo with Mayelen & Luzma will probably see it but I don't think it will happen either.

Dionicio wants Daniel to feel guilty about leaving a sick wife, so he wont do it.

I've met a few people with inoperable aneurysms. They have it rough. They feel like a ticking time bomb. Would Dan even share this with Miriam?

Thanks for the recipe Variopinta. I had never heard of tingas before that scene with Amanda, and I've been eating Mexican food for a long time. How can I have this hole in my Mexican food history?! I think very early on we saw Refugio making them too and Iliana took a bite. But she never mentioned the name of what she was making. I guess the Mexican audience knew what she was making so she didn't have to say anything. Has anyone seen Tostito brand tostadas in their grocery store?

Aleta- I'm betting that Dan keeps it from Miriam, so as not to upset her and cause exactly what he's trying to avoid-- her death from being upset or shocked. I can't imagine living with something like that in real life. Did the people you know continue to live normal (and hopefully long) lives? I hope Dan decides to get a second opinion soon so that he can find out this is a big fat lie.

OT: Double Indemnity is about to begin on TCM.

Vivi: I don't know how well those people will ultimately do. I've only been going to the brain aneurysm support group for the past three years.

Do we know for sure that Miriam doesn't actually have an aneurysm? Maybe the doctor didn't have to lie.

We don't know. There was no scene before the one with El Diablo where the doctor was reviewing the results.

Vivi: Dan sleeping with Miriam if he and Cam break up. I never thought about that.

I'm assuming it's a lie. But it's true that we don't know for sure.

I doubt they have the latest technology in Aculco, so I don't think Miriam is going to have a chance. I don't know if anyone is interested, but they used this robot thing in my ICU room in Orlando. It reminded me of the robot in the Short Circuit movie. The doctor in the video was the attending physician for the neuro ICU in Orlando at the time.

http://www.myfoxorlando.com/story/17587074/hospitals-going-high-tech-robo-doc?clienttype=printable

I kept waving and making faces at the thing until they moved it out of my room.

The whole aneurysm thing has been a very interesting experience.

Are you ok now Aleta? I assume they were able to get rid of yours, hopefully.

Yes, thanks. These episodes are bringing back a lot of memories. I was not the ideal patient. Friends brought me Chinese food and Cadbury Fruit and Nut bars, and a spiritual healer from Cassadega visited me. The beeping noises in the room bothered me, and I tried to turn off all the equipment. That didn't work, so I took out my IV (it was the quick disconnect kind) and tried to escape down the hall to the family waiting room.

Wow Aleta. What a trauma. So glad you're ok now. Your experience shows me why Dan might not be inclined to tell Miriam.

OMG! Aleta, that must have been horrible. How long were you in the hospital?

BTW, not to distract, but I posted the weekend topic early because we have no episodes tonight.

I had never heard of tingas before either & I have cooked quite a bit of Mex food so I look at a lot of recipes but never saw that one. It looks simple enough to make.

Wow Aleta, some health scare.
Wouldn't you have to know you have an aneurysm? I would think there are precautions that are necessary.

Aleta, scary stuff. Glad that you're ok now. My dad had an aneurysm, but it seemed to go away on it's own. Is that possible? It's amazing that he is still with us.

VP, thanks for that recipe. I am very into authentic Mexican food and after many years of just consuming it, more recently I've started producing it. I know that I have seen tingas on menus, but not often. I don't think I've ever ordered one. I am a huge fan of Rick Bayless and in his cookbook "Mexican Kitchen" he defines tinga as a stew. I'd say it's a pretty dry stew. He suggests it be served as a filling/topping for tostadas, tacos, or tortas. That book has two recipes, Tinga de Calabicitas (chopped vegetables) and Tinga de Pollo y Papas, which I have made and is very good, like almost all of his recipes. Then there is this pork one from his website:

http://www.rickbayless.com/recipe/view?recipeID=234

Vivi, I have never seen Tostido brand tostada shells. Usually in Mexico what I have seen is local brands of what they call dorados (fried tortillas, euphemistically called 'golden'). I buy them here in the US to break up and use for chips with guacamole, salsa fresca, anafre or for chiliqueles. They're a lot thicker, tastier and more authentic than regular tortilla chips and I don't like to fry my own.

Regarding Dan sleeping with Mirian, my thoughts were that the way things are going with Dan-n-Cam, with her pushing him away with both hands and him drifting towards Miriam. He does have what I have called a fluid self-identity, a kind of lack of stick-to-it-ness when it comes to who he is and what he is attached to. He also has had a hard time saying no to Miriam. Even without a rekindling of any passion for her, Dan could end up either running out of excuses or wanting to please her, and one thing leading to another. This seems even more likely now that they have moved into their own place.

Camila could dump him, and at this point I think would be good for her to tell him that he can't just string her along indefinitely, and he needs to go away and solve his problems. If that happens, then Dan sleeping with Miriam would be pretty likely, I'd say, and much more palatable to Viewerville.

In any event, he has never been firm with Miriam that he was not going to sleep with her and has just evaded it. If he is that much of a coward, then I don't see a lot of hope for him. He's broken so many promises to Cam already, I think this one is going to go, too. Just my take.

Vida2, I'd say that you must have had a great mom if you're that down on Auggie. I hope you realize how lucky you are. A lot of people would give their right arm to have a mom like her who at least loves and cares for them and is trying to help and not trying to be cruel, however awkward she might be.

I don't think Daniel is a coward. I consider him to be very cautious and also still somewhat in shock. I don't think this is even a week later no matter how long it feels to us in the audience. Makes me wish novelas would just do a day's information in a single episode.

Can we agree that if there were no baby this part of the story would be vastly different?

As to Augustina's maternal behavior, I consider her to be both stupid and selfish. To tell a daughter to "get over it" in such a situation and to try to guilt-trip her about being "the other woman" is both stupid and cruel. She should know better than that. Now, if this were a British miniseries, her directive to "bury it" would fit, but with a different attitude.

Weekend Discussion Proposal:

Since there are British miniseries fans on this board, I'm proposing that we do a brief re-write of Amor Bravio as though it were a British story. We can set it in Victorian or Edwardian times on an estate with titled characters, names adapted for appropriateness.

If this idea appeals, say so now and we'll do it next weekend, as this series is still airing. I would initiate it next Friday and we all jump in with continuing chapters.

Can someone please tell me where I can find the weekend discussion forum? Thanks!

AZ Lurker

Thinking of the Dan bedding Miriam dilemma as I listen to Handel's opera Semele this morning. Jupiter has taken the beautiful Semele as a lover, much to the chagrin of his wife Juno. But Jupiter has only had sex with Semele disguised in human form. He knows that to appear before her as a god would probably kill her. Due to the insinuation and plotting of the jealous Juno, Semele begins to insist on knowing her lover in his god-like form "I ever am wanting and never obtain..." such that Jupiter is finally forced to do the deed. Well, Semele gets what she wants with the expected result. Not a win-win situation, but a very beautiful opera. —Agnes

@UA, you are so talented and ambitious. A DA/AB re-write would be marvelous!

Carolina,
anafres is a new one to me also, I need to spend mucho tiempo in Mex.

Carolina, do you have that clay pot (Anafre) and do you regularly make Anafres using that pot? Do you have a recipe to share?

UA, Guau! You are one talented person to want to do a AB/DA type rewrite. Could you set it in the same time period as DA versus Victorian or Edwardian. If you do decide to go the Victorian or Edwardian route, I hope you include the social customs of the time. I'd like to see how differently some of these characters would behave.

I think that Hissadora would be getting away with a whole lot and would probably never be caught.

Fatima

VP, Anafre is Honduran. Sorry to confuse.

Fatima, Yes, I have the clay pot. We really enjoyed eating anafre in Honduras, so I bought a set-up to bring back home and we use it a lot when we have people over, especially if I'm cooking Mexican. I use a tea light instead of an ember to keep it warm and I just use a can of refried beans and shredded cheddar or jack cheese, heat it up in the MW, transfer it to the anafre bowl, stick some chips upright in it and some more on the side, and it's ready to go. Usually it's accompanied by pickled vegetables, so often I'll serve some of those alongside as well. I would think a regular fondue pot would work just fine for this, too.

http://hondurasarts.com/anafres-honduras-food/

I've never put chilis or chorizo in it, but why not?

UA, yes, we can agree that the baby complicates things a lot.

I know it has only been about a week in TN time since Miriam and her entourage appeared, but I think that is enough time for Dan to have gotten his act together at least a little bit. I also realize that people are going to want to shy away from using words like 'coward', but really. If he can't bring himself to even say 'boo' to this woman, that's what he is.

One other thought, UA.

I do think that one reason the writers had Augustina saying what she did to Camila is because sometime soon she is going to find out that she is in the exact same position - that she is actually 'the other woman' and that her husband married her under a false pretext. They are setting her up to get bitten by that big time.

I agree with you on the point about Augustina's marital situation. Whether her marriage to El Diablo is valid or not under either Mexican or US law, she will be roundly embarrassed. There is also the legal issue of the fraudulent retirement fund scam. It looks like El Diablo is looking to isolate Camila one step at a time:

-- Pablo and Luzma already live off the property and won't be moving back.
-- El Diablo just got rid of Daniel by blackmailing a third party.
-- He will destroy her herd.
-- He will find a third party to get Augustina in trouble and arrested.
-- Mariano is likely to be distracted by attempting to protect his father from Hissadora.
-- That leaves Vivi, Rafa, Aaron, and the padre. Who knows what effort that will take.

Re next weekend: I've had a second thought about the period of the British version. How about the late 18th Century, like in Poldark? I see Don Daniel with the title of "Squire" and young Daniel could be from Wales, Ireland, or Scotland.

Carolina, that sounds like a super simple dish that would make a nice impression. I'll bet that your guests really like it, right? I'm going to see if I can find one of those pots. Do you have to worry about lead contamination in them? I know that for awhile, there was some worry about too much lead in the Mexican clay pots. I'll check Chef Bayless' web page and see if he has some links to where it could be bought.

Speaking of Chef Rick Bayless...boy...would I love to learn cooking from him.

Going back to the story. Carolina...I agree with your thoughts about what Agustina said to Camila. All I could think of was "pot, meet kettle".

Forgive me for not remembering who said it several days ago...maybe Traveling Lady or LXV, but some o these folks are going to be making quite a few trips to the pie cart called "Humble".

Thanks, Carolina!

UA...REALLY looking forward to your rewrite. Have you ever seriously considered becoming a writer for Televisa?

Fatima

Fatima, you're right, people really like it. It's convivial to gather around a bubbling pot and eat communally. It always seems to get the party off on the right track. Now that I think about it, I have put some salsa in with the beans and cheese, too. You're also right about lead concerns with pottery, but I tested the one I bought after I got it home and it was ok. Good luck tracking one down in the US. Since they are Honduran and not Mexican, they might be hard to come by.

I do feel like I've learned cooking from my buddy Rick - or from his books at least. He's amazing.

Fatima, if I could write in Spanish like I could in English I would send them proposals for several novelas, including a new version of Dark Shadows!

As to next weekend -- if enough Caraymates agree by Sunday evening to participate -- I will write the opening and post it on Friday. I will be at the opera on Saturday the 2nd until evening (Wagner, of course) and jump in. In the meantime I will think about whether any of the character relationships need to be changed. I will also post this part in the Weekend topic as a reminder.

UA, count me "IN" on your rewrite of AB (as someone posting as I doubt I can keep up with your creative ideas!!) Seriously, though, you should branch out with your writing skills. If you went to the D.F. (or wherever Televisa is located) and immersed yourself, I have no doubt you'd be writing well in Spanish in no time.

Carolina, I count Chef Bayless as "my bud", too! What a guy!

Carolina: for the pot, people might try ebay.

This TN definitely lends itself to the Edwardian or Victorian era.

Urban- I also support the idea of this AB rewrite for a weekend topic!

How would Camila being a working vet with a close relationship with the staff fit into the timeframe though? I wouldn't think that would be really proper at the time for the lady/daughter of the big house. I don't even think Gussy, Dio, Rocio, and Cayetano think it's proper for the 21st century. Even the Chilean Posse was shocked the morning they heard Cami is up and out with the staff in the mornings and cares for all the bulls on the ranch.

Camila (or Camilla, as we will call her) might not necessarily be a vet. Also, don't forget that if we go back to the 18th-C, there was no formal veterinary school and it was just the beginning of medical school for medicine of the human kind.

Also, manners between a country squire and his staff would be less formal than for an earl or viscount. Think of the film Tom Jones, from which I borrow the style for the remarks about discretion with regard to El Diablo and the Black Widow's couplings.

UA: I was in the hospital for 11 days, 10 of which were in the ICU. And I think I was the only patient in the ward who wasn't in a coma.

Carolina: I believe I've heard that a small ruptured aneurysm can heal itself. But 15% of the people don't even make it to the hospital, and 40% of the cases are fatal. Your dad was very lucky.

Variopinta: I had bad headaches and blurry vision before my rupture. I thought I had the flu.

When my "annie" ruptured, right after a very stressful meeting at work, I lost consciousness within 5 minutes. Stress is definitely a factor when you have high blood pressure. Other risk factors are being a woman and going through menopause. Not too much I could do about that!

Wow Aleta thank you for sharing your story and glad you are with us.

UA - add me to the list. This will be an interesting and fun challenge jumping genres.

Muy good read, Mena! Here are my favs:

Mastery of understatement here!
"We get the idea that crazy Leo is not happy with the news he has just received." H-m-m-m. I wonder what gave it away.....

My favorite LOL line: "viewerville considers offering to book the pair on a certain disabled cruise ship last seen docked off the coast of Mobile, Alabama" --and how!!

"giving him a watch" Really? Really? A top of the line Rolex or some two-bit Timex?

and muy chuckle-worthy: "Padre arrives and...proceeds to open his prayerful mouth and insert his blessed sandal inside." Terrif!!

Thnx Amiga Jardinera! good to know what adds to the audience reading pleasure.

Aleta, I am remembering now that my dad did have surgery. He was very lucky.
