Amor Bravío #135 (Uni 130) Wed 2/27/13 “Clashes and Contagions – And Did They or Didn’t They?”

Part One:

Courtyard of La MQ:  Dante is guy-lecturing Dan about neglecting his family responsibilities.  Hangdog face Dan listens and soberly agrees. Rodolfo breaks up the man-lecture to ask if Dan is going to join the gang inside the house.  Dan tells Rodolfo to explain to everyone he has to excuse himself  from the powwow this time because his baby is sick at home and that is where he needs to be.

Center for Disease Control at La MQ:   All hands are on deck in El Rancho living room this evening.  Rodolfo comes in to report to Camila that Dan had to go home to be with his sick baby.  Everyone else is gathered together discussing a plan for the growing and now out of control epidemic.  Camila gets the results of the blood analysis – it is an outbreak (brote) of the Cabrex virus!  This virulent virus can wipe out the ranch in a very short time she reports.  Camila says there is no time to lose. Dio offers his services to his secret fantasy girl, um, to Camila to go pick up any vaccines that they locate.  Camila considers that they should ask the pharmacies but Mariano reminds her that the pharmacies are now closed for the day.  Pablo, being more generation X (or whatever his generation is labelled right now) suggests he will look on the internet.  Camila instructs everyone to be super-careful because the virus is muy, pero muy contagious.  Agustina clutches her pearls in fear but Camila allays her worries by informing her that the virus is only contagious through direct contact with the animals, so Agustina has nothing to worry about (except for the dog she is married to). Mariano says the herd will still need to be quarantined for around 45 more days.  Camila understands this, but is still set on saving the ranch.

Viv’s and Rafa’s Place:  Rafa is back! Viv asks Rafa how the visit went and Rafa says all went swimmingly with his book. The book will be launched (lanzamiento) next month and there is an upcoming presentation.  Viv is happy for Rafa but Rafa is distracted.   Rafa wanders over to the coffee table and happens to see a laboratory slip – WTQ? – he asks Viv what this is about (Viewerville can only imagine all the possible scenarios that went through Rafa’s head!)  Viv says to Rafa that much has happened since he was gone.  Viv gives Rafa the big breaking news – there is a virus that threatens to wipe out La MQ’s herd - oh, and about that Dan and Camila situation, Dan picked but he didn’t pick Camila.  She explains that Miriam is in poor health with a blood balloon in her brain that could blow anyyyyy day now so Dan will not abandon her.  Viv tells Rafa she is having a hard time accepting that Dan and Camila's love will not be a reality.  Damn the script writers!  Rafa curses that with this news, now he may have to go back a rewrite the ending of his novela!

Dan and Dante Walking Down the Sidewalk of Aculco: Dante guy-lectures Dan that Dan needs to accept his responsibilities with Miriam. After Dante leaves, Dan thought bubbles a montage of film clips of happier times with Miriam in Chile.  When the mental movie ends, he gets firm with himself and says, “Self, I made a promise to Miriam and I need to follow through.”

Back at the CDC Central Living Room at La MQ: Mariano continues to think up solutions to the outbreak.  He will phone all his contacts.  Luzma will light a candle and pray to the Virgin of CDC.  Dio comments that he just hates to see Camila upset like this and assures her that together they can find a solution (ackkk)  and then he allegedly takes leave.  Agustina asks Camila if someone else can be in charge because it is risky for Camila.  Camila says she has nothing to lose.  Agustina wonders why Dano is still hanging around La MQ these days.  Camila reminds Agustina that Dan is part owner of La MQ and she cannot really stop him. As Camila and Agustina talk, Dio listens around a corner.  Camila tells Agustina that the relationship between Dan and her is over – se acabo!  She explains that Miriam is sick and viewerville knows the rest.  Dio is pleased as he eavesdrops that everything is going exactly how he planned.  Agustina and Camila  are unwittingly hitting all their marks in Dio’s plan. Camila adds that with all that is happening at the ranch, that she doesn’t really have the heart to be worried about Dan’s comings and goings and mooning over Dan. Agustina tells Camila to hurry up and get over it (el mal paso dar le prisa).

Luzma and Pablo’s Bedroom at La MQ:  The pair is packing to leave the ranch.  They sit together on the bed and talk about their worries about Camila and the ranch. Luzma doesn’t want Camila to feel abandoned, but Pablo reassures her that Luzma doesn’t need to expose herself at the ranch and besides the mother-in-law will soon be arriving and will need lots of attention.

Kitchen of La MQ:  The ranchero group Piedad, Dorotea, Hipolito, Eleuterio and Rodolfo discuss the epidemic at the ranch.  The ladies worry about the virus being contagious but they will keep the faith and the fellows vow to lend their hands to help (al pie de canon). [ I think ]

Dan and Miriam’s Casita del Aculco:  Dan comes in the front door and greets Miriam with a bunch of red roses begging mucho pardons.  Miriam is clearly not happy with Daniel Diaz Acosta tonight and takes his roses and throws them on the stool, only to have them fall to the floor.  He explains he left his phone in the truck and, and, and…. Miriam lights into Dan and says the baby is fine, but she is not.  She says that if it hadn’t been for Dante being there today, who knows what would have happened and that no one could reach him and, and, and.. Dan begs pardons again and says he left his phone it the truck and didn’t get the calls and there are so many things going on at the ranch and, and, and….. Miriam points out that Dan didn’t even call to check on her or the baby.  Dan mutters about problems at the ranch and, and, and…..Miriam counters that there are problems at the ranch but she has problems at home too and that at the ranch there are many people to solve them but at home it is just her and the baby.   In  Chile she would have known what to do, but Mexico is not her country and so it is different.  Miriam draws a line in the sand and tells Dan that if he is going to be half-assed with her, she is not interested.  Dan gets a little wide-eyed and wonders what that is supposed to mean.  Miriam says that if he has something to say to her, to just do it.   Still wide-eyed, Dan tells her that he doesn’t like hearing her say she wants to go far away from him with the baby.  Miriam reminds him that she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him but that his head and heart are elsewhere and consumed (desgastando).  Dan promises her that he won’t do that again.   She asks him if something happened during the time they were apart, and asks him to just tell her if that is the truth so that she can return to Chile without him.   Dano fibs and says no, but that the situation is his fault – he has been distracted with this and that.  He repeats that it won’t happen again.  Miriam tells him she hopes so because with everything that has happened today, she had a headache.. She says that the doctor in Chile said she still has a little inflammation in her brain.  She swears she took her medicine but Dan is feeling guilty  and gulping now! Dan apologizes again and asks what he can do to make her believe in him (i.e. help him lie better so that eventually it won’t really be a lie).  Miriam says that since she has been there, he hasn’t touched her and that all her movidas have been rejected with excuses.    Mercifully, we go to another scene to give time for Dan to think about what to do next.

Camila’s Bedroom:  Camila sits on her desk and laments over her dead bulls and worries that she needs to find a vaccine.  Maja chews her bone peacefully on the floor.  Camila eyes the books in her library and reaches for one.  Along with the book she finds Dan’s charro tie …. Camila thought bubbles a steamy passionate moment with Dan in the not-so-distant past.  She reasons with herself that she understands that his family wants him near, to reclaim him, but she also knows that when Dan is near (even his smell) it is difficult for her and she needs to be away from him.

Dan and Miriam’s Casita del Aculco:  We return to the only house in all the land where our fine lad Dan prefers to evade the continued advances of a fair maiden with the major hots for him (Viewerville likely has a volunteer or two willing to step up to take the burdensome task from our fine lad).  Dan explains to Miriam that he has avoided her because of  the“for the circumstances”.  WTQ?  [Calling UA for a major dialogue rewrite opportunity.]  Miriam replies that she needs to know that Dan desires her and she is going crazy meanwhile.  She adds that Agatha and Dan are the only ones that make her happy.  She insists that Dan demonstrate he loves her by making love to her. Cut!

Viv and Rafa’s Place:  Rafa and Viv are enjoying some pasta cooked by Viv.  They small talk and Rafa tells Viv that the distance did him good.  He thought about everything and understands why she feels the way she does.  He has decided that there is no need to sign papers in order to formalize their relationship.  The most important is the promise!   Smoochies of agreement along with tee amos and the segment closes as our happy paper-signing-free couple enjoys the kitchen table for pasta and passion.

El Hostel:  Dante is unloading to Teresa about Dan’s failure to assume the role of husband with Miriam.   He says that he was even almost ready to confess his love for Miriam to Dan if he doesn’t shape up.  Teresa warns him that these matters are not so simple.  Admittedly, she says, the ideal (in the world according to Teresa) is for Dan to be with Camila and Dante to be with Miriam and Teresa to be with Mariano.  But she warns that if Dante persists, Miriam will discover that Dan does not really love her. She advises Dante to stay by her side and be a “good friend”.  Dante says he just doesn’t want Miriam to suffer because she is not Dan’s top priority.

Dan and Miriam’s Casita del Aculco:   The scene opens with – gasp! - Dan and Miriam in their bedroom the next morning.   Miriam is asleep and all of viewerville peeks to see if her jammies are still on.  They are, but they are a silky little number, hmmmm.  Dan, on the other hand is sitting in bed fully clothed with his jammies on.  Did they or didn’t they?  Viewerville’s inquiring minds want to know and the comments after the recap stand ready to go wild with speculation.  Dan thought bubbles that Miriam’s destiny is important to him and although he does not know if this is love, he will not hurt her.  Dan gets up and wanders out to greet baby Agatha and her nurse.  He takes Agatha’s ba-ba and feeds her, telling his budgekin that he is sorry he left her alone and  he promises her he will never leave her alone again. Miriam stands by happily gazing at the pair of them through her rose colored glasses. She approaches them and thanks God that she has her two most dearly beloved ones by her side.  Vliewerville studies her carefully to see signs of satisfaction, or not!

Part Two:

Ranch Office of La MQ: Dio makes an anonymous phone call to what seems to be a local health department. He reports that there has been a disease outbreak at La MQ.  He says he is reporting this because the news needs to be passed along so that other ranches won’t be at risk of contamination.  He forgets to tell the health department to send the exterminators too - the Rat!

Camila’s Cabana:  Camila is on a call trying desperately to locate a vaccine while staying civil on the phone.  She is having no luck.  Pablo and Luzma pay her a visit  and Luzma asks how she is.  Mal, is of course Camila’s reply.  She is getting desperate (desalentado) because she is finding nothing but dead ends trying to get a vaccine for the virus.  Pablo tells her he has contacted all the laboratories around the country.  Luzma and Pablo tell Camila they have come to tell her that Luzma is leaving the ranch to go set up their new house in Aculco and to take care of her mother-in-law.  Camila wishes her well and shoos them off. Luzma pleads with Camila to keep her informed of all the happenings.

Dan and Miriam’s Casita del Pueblo:  The now seemingly happy couple sit down to breakfast (Viewerville’s votes seem to sway in the direction that “they did” – but maybe in the dark with most of Dan’s clothes on).  Miriam is cheerfully pouring coffee and the phone rings.   Dan looks to Miriam for permission.  Go ahead, she tells him to answer it.  She says she told Dan she wanted to be a priority, but she knows he has concerns about La MQ and what is happening.  Dan gratefully (Really?  Isn’t he a big boy ?) answers the phone.  Rodolfo reports that the situation at the ranch is bad.  Rodolfo wonders that after all this time there is an outbreak.  Especially because of the existence of a very aggressive vaccine and the absence of any outbreaks for a long while.  He wonders aloud where this virus could have come from?   Meanwhile, no one at the ranch is having success locating a vaccine.  Dan asks if there is any place outside of Mexico where they can locate a vaccine.  Rodolfo answers that in any case there is a lot of paperwork, permits and time involved in finding it outside the country.  He doesn’t sound too hopeful and says they are in a serious situation at the ranch, but he is just letting Dan know (yo te mantengo tanto).  Dan hangs up soberly. Miriam asks what’s up at el rancho?  Dan tells her that there is a virus that can ruin the ranch if they don’t find a vaccine.  She asks if there is anything she can do to help.  Dan looks confused.  She reminds him that she wants him to consider her and the baby a priority but as long as he stays in contact with her, it is ok to go attend to el rancho.  She tells him to scoot, go take care of business at El Rancho.  Dan is very happy that he has permission to go out and play, er, go hunting for viruses.

Courtyard of La MQ:  Pablo and Luzma bid their farewells to el rancho group.  They will all miss each other.  Luzma says she will be a good housewife because Piedad taught her to be after one of el rancho group asks how she will be a university girl and be a housewife.  Mayela joins the group as she reports to work at the ranch with her five inch platforms and asks what is going on.  Pablo and Luzma report that they are going to go officially live at their house in Aculco.  Oh goody, Mayela exclaims!  We can be neighbors and not only that, Pablo and I can commute to work every day together!  Pablo responds that this would be a very good idea.  Pablo tells Mayela what is to be done at the office and to report to him if someone contacts them about a vaccine.  Mayela teeters off to the office and our happy couple depart.  Hmmm,  wonders Hipolito to Piedad.  He wonders about that New Girl being a little too pushy (confianzuda).  Piedad tells him to stop thinking up stories, after all, New Girl was the one who helped Luzma out when she was in trouble with the miscarried baby.  Hipolito is not convinced and scratches his chin wondering.  The pair go back to work – not before Piedad pinches his ear and calls him “un zonzo” (something like a dope).  Hipolito protests that it is Eleuterio that is one, not him!

Viv and Rafa’s Place:  The pair have ah hem “cleared the table” from the night before and are making eggs together in their very lovey-dovey fashion.  Viv casually mentions that it is hard (like an adjustment) to now think as a couple and not as an independent person.  Continuing on that thread, she informs Rafa that she is thinking of adopting Roman.  WTQ?  Rafa is shocked and not looking pleased at this announcement.  He wonders why she didn’t tell him before when she was deciding this.  Viv looks surprised at his being surprised and asks if he doesn’t like Roman – not the point, Rafa responds – and then reminds Rafa that she cannot have kids.  Rafa replies that he knows she cannot have kids and has accepted that.  The pair stand their uncomfortable ground impactadas by one another.

Boda Shop del Pueblo:  Nutty Nat is at the shop being measured for her bridal dress.  She exclaims that she is so surprised that Amanda has come to share this time with her.  Amanda replies that she realizes that she has been negative, but that now she wants to share this time with Nutty Nat.  She wants to see the house that Dad Dio gave them and maybe help Nat decorate it.  She adds that there is only a few weeks more that she and Nutty Nat will live together at the hostel before Nat leaves to go live with Pogostick Yago (Note:  Recent behavior on Yago’s part requires he resume his more appropriate apodo).  Nat is happily surprised at her mamita’s change in ‘tude.  She assures Amanda that even with her happy hubby, the bebes and Daddy Dio, her mamita will always be the one she loves best-est!  We are happy to see at least the dressmakers take measurements, because Nat is clearly unable to “size things up”.

Pastures of La MQ:  Dan has arrived at the scene in the pastures where the blood samples from the bulls are being collected.  He offers to take the samples where they need to go and while reaching to replace a tube, breaks it and cuts himself.  Dan brushes it off and asks where he can go wash off the blood.  He leaves to do this and without pause, Rodolfo instructs the ranch hands to go redraw the blood to replace the now lost sample.  Oddly, no one seems too concerned that Dan has essentially just injected himself with possible tainted blood, including Dano.

Camila’s Cabana Office:  Camila and Mayela discuss the now 30 dead and 8 near dead bulls.  Yucky Yago shows up to talk bull business (in every sense of the word) with Camila.  Mayela blurts out how many bulls have been lost.  Camila, irritated, shoos her out of the office to take care of other matters.  Yago asks Camila why she was irritated with Mayela.  Camila replies that first, it was not her place to announce this information (methinks Hipo is not such a zonzo after all) and because she doesn’t want this info public.  She worries that if the info gets out, that Mariano will step in and supply her with bulls to meet her contracts, yet again and she feels it is not his place to handle her problems.  Camila says Mariano is an angel who has done enough.  Yucky Yago says he understands her completely and can help her with this guilt.  He proposes to her that if she wants, she can pay for the bulls from him, Mariano doesn’t have to know until after the crisis.  Camila says she was thinking of going to other ranchers.  Yago points out that the other ranchers will know she is desperate and will take advantage of her and “gouge her”  with their price.  Hmm, Camila sees the wisdom of Yago’s proposition as Yucky Yago confirms it is the simplest and most practical proposition.  Camila agrees and offers a seat to Yago as she seemingly begins to put the plan in place.

Viv and Rafa’s Place:  Viv and Rafa continue to quarrel.  Rafa says that the issue is not wanting to adopt or not, but that it has been his plan that it would be just the two of them together, right now.  Down the road, he adds, they can consider adopting a bebe, not necessarily a pre-adolescent like Roman.  Viv appears shaken up.  She tells Rafa that they clearly have different expectations.  Rafa disagrees and says they have a different movie, altogether, and she is writing her own story!  Viewerville  doesn’t expect that the couple will be clearing the table for a repeat of last night’s pasta and passion.

Somewhere in the Bahamas:  Cayetanto is waking up (likely from his magic gotas) and Isa is having her feet soaked in a room spa.  Isa receives a message from Dio that it is time to turn Cayo’s phone back on so he can hear the news of the outbreak of the virus and get back to El Rancho BV pronto.  Isa fondles her bottle of magic gotas as she tells herself it is time to hold off on them right now until Cayo gets the news of the virus and falls into his next trap.

Pastures of La MQ:  Camila and Rodolfo discuss the now 40 dead bulls.  Dan approaches and pleads her pardon for having had to leave the powwow early the night before. Camila asks how his bebe is and Dan updates her.  Rodolfo disappears and Camila tells Dan that they need to talk.  About? Inquires Dense Dano.  Camila responds that it is about the pair of them.  She takes this opportunity to tell Dan that she cannot be around him and that she does not want him around La MQ!  Dan looks dejected especially since Miriam had already given him permission to go out and play.  Bummer, he thinks. The scene closes out on this moment.

Avances:  Dan collapses (and it’s not the vapors) and Miriam hears something she’d rather not have.

Readers - Here is Part One (the only part that really matters to some, to be sure). So the question is, did they or didn't the? Place your votes while I catch some winks and then post Part Two.

I think they did but he had to close his eyes and pretend he was with Camila. I'm waiting for the scene when he tells that to either Dante or Rafael.

My favorite line so far: Agustina has nothing to worry about (except for the dog she is married to).

I'm not sure how I would re-write that scene; I'm guessing that "circunstancias" is not quite the same word in Spanish as in English.

Great part one Mena. I vote they did it. Miriam looked really happy and satisfied the next morning. So much so that she let him go to the ranch. Dan really could not come up with any more excuses to not do his husbandly duties.

Had we ever seen that love scene Cam remembered? I kept wondering when did we ever see Cam wearing a off the shoulder top like that.

Thanks for the recap! Looking forward to parte dos!! I vote No. I think that Mir or Dan fell asleep. But perhaps the kiss and promise was enough for MM, coupled with Dan's morning presence and time with baby Agatha. Dan was fully clothed, with a long-sleeved shirt. When have we seen that? We usually see "morning after" tatooed and shirtless.

Great part one Mena!

Vivi -- no they've never showed that scene before, but one of the hottest love scene ever between these two.

No they didn't have sex. It's all a matter of perception. And Netgirl, what you said, WORD.

Myo-

Thank you, Mena. A great start, with so many of the important happenins' happening.

I do think that they made love. That was what Miriam wanted and she would not have been nearly as gracious about releases him to LM the next day if he had not complied. Whomever he was thinking about at the time will no doubt be revealed when he spills the beans to one of his guy-talkers (love the concept!)
His modest morning dress indicates to me that he's still emotionally detached from the experience.

I can just feel the scariness of the contaminated water and blood supplies. I am surprised that no one has thought about water contamination, though the assumption is that the virus came in from outside, as it would in food.

I don't want to jump the gun -- it might have been in part 2. But our Hipolito can carry a tune and is no dummy.

Mena! Gracias! Thanks for staying up to give us Part one. I was already loving the line, "Agustina clutches her pearls in fear..." thinking, how apt a description of this lady we love to despise, when you hit us with the next bit. "...so Agustina has nothing to worry about (except for the dog she is married to)" Too funny.

And I am thrilled that you said "budgekin" again. It was a very sweet scene, and had all the usual trappings of morning after bliss, except for Daniel's dormwear. So I'm on the fence about did they or didn't they. To me, it's immaterial, he's still Cami's guy whether they realize it or not. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I also think the Dante character is poorly portrayed, whether it's the writing or the acting or both, I'm not sure. He's nice and all, but not convincing.

Looking forward to the rest. Thanks again —Agnes

Mena thanks for part one.

I am torn. While Miriam was happy, Dan was fully clothed (as netgirl noted this is not his usual post-sex attire). I'm hoping his kissing her with some passion may have been the trick.

Did Dio say something about the Dr. lying for him?

Based on the previews, kudos to those of you who thought expendable Dan may be the first to get the virus. This will be the third time he has been at death's door. Is this excessive?

I agree with traveling lady ... They had sex. Why not? They had no reason not to. Afterall, he has broken off with Cami which makes their prior commitments to each other null a nd void. Miriam is his wife and they've had sex before and have a child together so what's the big deal.?

It's a big deal because it's an emotional betrayal of Camila. Daniel isn't Iagho.

Who definitely needs a wake-up call about his activities with anything in a skirt if he doesn't want to sleep with the fishes.

For Daniel to be at death's door a third time is not excessive by novela standards; I've seen this before.

I love this! The debate about the shagging that was or wasn’t?

The people, who believed/believe they did, mostly justified/justify their facts based on Miriam’s mood the morning after.

And we had/have the naysayers who will go to eleventh dimensional chess moves to defend their stances.

I say it’s a matter of PERCEPTION

Was Miriam in a better mood because she got some “nookie” or because she was suddenly the center of attention again?

Why did the producers fade to black after the kiss and the next morning everyone was covered up? We’ve seen Dio & Aggie; Dio & Isa; Yago & Streetwalker girl; Vivi & Rafa; Alonso & Ximena, and Dan & Cam – their love scenes were fully shown and they all were nekkid post coital. So, why not Dan & Miriam? Was it because Lisardo didn’t want to see Lisset displayed on screen? Or simply because the writers wanted us to PERCEIVE something that was or wasn’t? Only time will tell!

Dan doesn’t kiss and tell, so I greatly doubt that he’ll pour his heart out to Dante and/or Rafa.

My real concern at this point is what have they done to Daniel’s personality? The poor guy is terrified of losing his daughter and pained about losing Camilla, he has now converted to POD Daniel – indecisive, stammering & bumbling, and requiring the permission of mommy Miriam to step out of the house.

Myo-

I'm betting they didn't do it, and now with Dan possibly exposed to the virus, he shouldn't even be living with Miriam and the baby. I hate to say this for sounding unfeeling, but Yay!

Thanks for the first part Mena, and thanks to Paquita yesterday. I just started another job, and it will cut into my Caray Caray time here, boohoo. But I will check in as much as I can. Can't wait for the second part.

I think that they probably did it, but that is immaterial on the outcome of the situation. I think that sooner or later Cam and Dan will get back together.
Next question to vote on - in the previews, Dan faints. Does he or doesn't have the virus? Or is that a question for after tonight?

I hope that they find some vaccine soon. I didn't mind a few dead bulls, but it needs to stop.

Cindy

Of course they did, Miriam's whole attitude is different. I must admit that Dan's jammies puzzled me though, it was a chance to give us a treat but the writers are playing with us.

Looks like our Danny boy gets the virus. He can't be around the baby or Miriam due to her condition?, soooo, more Camila time.

If that virus happened in the US, the CDC & every other agency would either have the vaccine there or be there shooting all the cattle. Oh, I did notice the moving tails of all the (dead) bulls.

I couldn't find anything except technical jargon on Carbrex but they seem to mention Rift Valley fever in the same google searches. It appears that sheep are most susceptible.

Mena - Thanks for all the details as I missed most of it last night.

I vote they did it.

Just to add to the bull virus conversation, here's a picture of the results of rinderpest virus (declared officially eradicated two years ago). These guys are most definitely not wagging their tails.

I can't even imagine what heavy, disgusting and dangerous work it would be to clean up the remains of 40 bloated bulls.

I think they did it, and getting dressed was Daniel's figurative way of put armor on, or closing himself off from what he perceives as a betrayal of his intimacy with Camila.

Please.Make.Miriam.Go.Away. I can't stand the actress' accent, her mother-like treatment of Daniel, etc. So ridiculous - she gets "some", and then all of a sudden the next morning she's a happy camper and Danny is allowed to go play at La Malquerida again?

I did laugh while she was yelling at him when he first came home with the roses, he was looking at her getting all upset like he was waiting for her head to explode because of her aneurysim!

Cindy, in answer to your 2 questions, yes, Dan and Cami will get together in the end. This is the basis for the entire tn. And yes, we can assume that since Dan is a healtly young man, he didn't just faint from worry or stress. Did you notice that he cut his hand? That seems to indicate contamination. We've seen how fast this virus works on an animal that weighs almost a ton. It could enter the bloodstream of a human in a second.

Wonderfully funny recap, Mena!

Of course they did it but it was definitely not "hot monkey sex"!
Dan fulfilled his husbandly obligations but his heart was not in it, besides which he is probably afraid of hurting Miriam, The Delicate One. Just my 2 cents worth....

Lurker in AZ

Mena: Great recap so far. How much you want to bet we’re going to find out they did it and that’s going to be one more obstacle in the way of Cam and Dan. What if M. gets pregnant again?! Oh no!!!!!

When I saw Maha, I said “noooooooooooooooooooooooooo don’t let Maha get infected."

Cindy: Quick OT: What’s your all time fav GH? Mine is The Talisman Ring.

I don't think the clothes necessarily have a meaning. Remember when Vivi and Rafa had their first love scene, the one before the balloon flight. Vivi went to bed in a pretty nightie and woke up in PJs. (I missed that wardrobe gaff myself, but one of you picked up on it.)

I think Dan fulfilled his obligation, but I don't think he was giving Miriam passionate kisses.

I think it's important to note that Miriam told him to go back to MQ. If Dan is in harm's way, and the stress causes Miriam's "annie" to pop, he won't have to carry any guilt.

I personally would like to see a divorce (and it be Miriam's idea) and Mirian and Dante getting together in the end, but I think a seed has been planted to let us know what a great stepmother Camila would make (the scene with Ana in the mall).

UA, I whole heartedly agree with you that Dan having sex with Miriam would be an emotional betrayal to Cami in his eyesight. But as much as I dislike Miriam, I see Dan's treatment of her as emotional betrayal to her since that's what she's obviously expection based on his verbal recommitment to her. Dan needs to either pee or get off the pot period.

That said, I'm hoping that Dan has not contracted the virus for a couple of reasons.
1) he's had more than his share of near death experiences. 2) he needs to prove that he can make a tough decision that he can live with. Whereas if he has contracted the virus, that means that the decision that he cannot have contact with Miriam or the baby was made indirectly and conveniently for him. I want to see him take control of the love triangle situation, make a decision and be willing to live with the consequences.

As usual, a couple of typos, but too lazy to redo:-)

Aleta, I know we all treat these depictions of serious medical situations with the Telenovela lack of gravity that they deserve, but knowing that you have lived through the experience of having an "annie" actually "pop" is unsettling. Thank you for all your input on this.

@ Anonymous - Yes, I saw the cut. I figured it might be the writers playing with us. Dan's baby had the flu too that he might have caught.

@Nanette - I have to reread them. It has been years since I read them. I might even have been in high school. I still have the books though. I looked at her list on Wikipedia and can recall the details of none, to be honest.

Did anyone watch the online version? Maybe there is an answer there that was edited in our version.

Oh and my Captcha includes toro. In fact, it is almost toroworld

Cindy

Part 2 is up and ready for reading. Danny, Danny Danny ... what a zonzo move to tell Miriam to help him help her trust him.... He needs to get honest with himself first!

We had some TN medicine, for sure, last night. No disinfectant and biohazard bags and/or posts at the site where there are highly contagious blood samples? CDC this is not. Tighten the charro beanies.

Oh, they did it alright. That was a very passionate kiss that we saw before the fade out, by far the most of anything we have seen between the two of them since she came back from the dead. (It’s possible that kiss was censored a bit. I thought I saw some tongue online and they would cut that to not shock us sensitive Americans who of course never even think of doing things like that with our husbands, but I digress.)

And why would Dan be thought bubbling aboutnot know if it is love and not hurting her if they hadn’t done it? For that matter, why even show us these two scenes (night before and morning after) other than to tell us they did it, but without subjecting us to the ickiness of actually watching it. Dan’s dorm wear was just to make us think he wasn’t that into it. Not enough to take his clothes off, anyhow. I don’t think her mood would have improved so much in the morning if all she got was a kiss and a bunch of empty promises from this serial promise breaker.

Dan’s pjs also make sense from a practical point of view for the producers because he is still yawning when he walks into the living room and encounters Caridad. He wouldn’t want to walk in on her barechested.

I realize that Dan-n-Cam are done, but I am disgusted by him breaking his promises to her. I know that he also made promises long ago to MM, but the ones he made to Camila, and especially the one about not having any sexy time with MM, were AFTER he knew the whole story – that he was married to both women, that Miriam was alive, that the baby existed, and that she her health would be threatened if told bad news. He knew all that when he made that promise. Someone with integrity does not make a promise like that and a week later *poof* all gone. Just because a promise becomes inconvenient to keep does not make it null and void, sorry. It exactly that situation where you see someone’s true colors.

Foxy, I also see Dan as betraying both Camila and Miriam. I also think he has been inexcusably passive and a virus illness would only continue that shameful path for him.

Off to read Part 2.

I knew Rafa was not going to be on board with the adoption thing!

Mena: “We are happy to see at least the dressmakers take measurements, because Nat is clearly unable to “size things up”.”—perfection!.

For me, now that we are coming close to Ultimas Semanas, there are a lot of beanie moments. This TN has been refreshingly free of an abundance of them. Rodolfo was in the living room of LMQ when Cam said that it could be dangerous to be in contact with the infected animals, yet Rodolfo doesn’t seem concerned when Dan CUTS himself and gets the blood in his cut. And Rodolfo doesn’t mention it in front of Cam when the three are together?! I’m sorry, but I don’t buy it. Badly done, writers.

Carolina: “(It’s possible that kiss was censored a bit. I thought I saw some tongue online and they would cut that to not shock us sensitive Americans who of course never even think of doing things like that with our husbands, but I digress.)”---too funny.

Thanks for part 2 Mena. Can't wait for tonight's episode.

I still maintain that my boy Dan stayed true to Camila. And I'm crossing my fingers.

@Karen, Yes, Dio did say that the doctor's reputation meant more to him than his ethics.

Mena, thank you for another great recap!

Old Camila had a ranch, EIEIO. Here a dead bull, there a dead bull, everywhere a dead dead bull bull.

“Damn the script writers!” LOL

That Hippopotamus (or whatever) is a sharp guy. If his trouble radar is going off from pushy NG, then maybe ours should be, too.

Poor Nutty Nat. Not only is she dumb, pg, and marrying a jerk, her wedding dress is not going to fit unless she wears clothes under it. Measuring for a dress? You are doing it ALL wrong.

“(Miriam) asks him if something happened during the time they were apart, and asks him to just tell her if that is the truth so that she can return to Chile without him. Dano fibs and says no, but that the situation is his fault – he has been distracted with this and that.”

This is exactly the problem. Stop the fibbing, Danny Boy, and start living your life. Miriam is offering you a way out, and since she already suspects, you won’t be killing her with shock. Damn the script writers!

Traveling Lady, Mariano suggested cleaning out the water troughs in the previous episode but it wasn’t made clear (to me at least) if that ever happened. It seems to me to be a very standard sanitation thing to do, but who knows.

Ok, here's my vote--then I'll thank everybody and try to catch up.

Yes, the act was completed, but Dan's heart just wasn't in it. He had to talk himself into putting Miriam first before he went in. He's convinced himself that there's no future with Camila and he's going to have to make the best of it.

When Mir got insistently amorous, he did put his arm around her and kissed her back. Like everyone else invested in the Cam 'n Dan relationship, we were spared the lovemaking (and instead got the hot scene between Cam 'n Dan--which *was* new--to keep us from changing channels, I think). Dan having his pj's on in the morning indicate to me that he wasn't fully into foreplay, etc. (Remeber, folks, men's old fashioned pj bottoms have a fly and most today have no snaps or buttons.)

I agree with Vivi that Miriam was just too satisfied-looking for us to believe otherwise. If the act had not been completed, Mir would have said something, like, it's ok, I understand, things happen or Dan would have said, I'm sorry I fell asleep, etc.

Mena--Got Part 1 under my belt. It was so nice to have this be the last catch-up I had to read. I could savor all the phraseology. Oops, I see Part 2 is up. Be back later.

Loved your reference to the CDC at LMQ. Maybe the official Mexican governmental Ag dept. got clobbered with a sequestration and they have no personnel to track down the antidote or to come out to quarantine the place. If I were Mariano, I'd be worried. I'm sure all the ganaderos in the region get their water and supplemental feed from the same sources.

Dio--What can we say...the less the better. He's delusional. As he was eavesdropping I was holding my breath that Gussie was going to say something about what she found, then remembered that she herself doesn't want any one to know.

Cam doesn't want Dio's help because she already knows from Dan & Os what an evil crook he is, so she's going to avoid giving him anything to do that he might use against them. She should start to think who could have done this if none of the other ranchos have been affected. Sadly, he doesn't actually have to "help" because he's going to let nature take it's course, but he has to "look" as though he wants to help. Dio probably doesn't know that Cam knows as much about him as she does.

Loved your reference to "secret fantasy girl, um to Camila." And Pablo being more generation X (Actually, he'd be a Gen Y kid - or Millenial).

Mena, thank you for part deux!

Still in the minority on this one – Dan didn’t falter on his words to Cam – he’s still 1000% committed to her, and I believe the second that any doctor tells him that Miriam is as healthy as an ox; he will come clean with her and decide on a divorce.

I think that his passivity on the situation is that he’s trying to find the best way not to lose his daughter –he was really scared when Miriam mentioned that she’ll pack up with Agatha and go back to Chile which prompted the passionate kiss to appease her from her hysterics.

Myo-

Mena- Part 2 was just as sharp as part 1.

They did clean out the water and changed the feed last episode.

I don't like Dan sleeping with Miriam but I don't see it as a betrayal or broken promise. He made that promise when he and Cam intended to stay together. They have now broken up and he decided to stay with his wife. End of story. I don't think either he or Cam expect him not to sleep with his wife now that they have ended their relationship.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Vivi: I agree that Cam shouldn't be surprised if Dan sleeps with his wife. Her head knows it's a possiblity but I think her heart is going to feel a little betrayed.

Good thing Rocio is getting out of the hospital soon so Dan can take over the reserved LMQ hospital room (timeshare?).

I thought we might have to get some down time for a bit but I guess not. Good.

UA: While looking up a word in the Oxford Dictionaries Online, I ran across this little game:

http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2011/08/how-shakespearean-are-you/

Just for fun, I plugged in one of the paragraphs from your Monday blog and got this response:

"Your English is 81 percent Shakespearean. The waters of the Avon almost lap at your feet."

One point about Daniel and the clothes: He has scars he didn't have before Miriam's coma. He'd want to avoid having her see them and ask questions.

Great point about Rodolfo suddenly going brain dead about the cut. They should have rushed Daniel to a hospital immediately.

Hipolito is a smart dude in his observation of the new girl.

OMG, Aleta, I just put different paragraphs of this entry in and got up to 90%! This is a scream!

April 23rd is a Tuesday this year, so anyone with Tuesday duty may want to check this out.

Carolina, Great laugh out loud moments with your comments.

VivDC, Thank goodness they cleaned that out at least.... Although if the source of transmission were from either of these, all the local ranchers could be in potential trouble as Anita points out.

The Mexican CDC would have to be notified by some kind of law about an outbreak of a long since eradicated local virus, I would hope. I hope Dio's call isn't the only source of notification available.

Foxy--Your comment, ".. I want to see him take control of the love triangle situation, make a decision and be willing to live with the consequences." Unfortunately everyone, including Dan, Camila & Viviana, assume he's made the decision he's going to live with, maybe not entirely willingly. The virus getting him will bring them back together again and they will realize they are still in love and what are they going to do about it.

I can't wait for Miriam's Doc to be unmasked. He needs to be sanctioned by the medical board and have his license lifted--muy pronto.

Speaking of professional licenses, I would think that Camila as a licensed veternarian may have had an obligation to report the presence of a dangerous virus like that to the authorities. I hope that Dio's call doesn't cause her to lose her profession on top of all her other problems. :(

Myo, this is where you and I disagree: "I believe the second that any doctor tells (Dan) that Miriam is as healthy as an ox; he will come clean with her ..."

I think Dan is too chicken to tell Miriam that in the short time that she was in a coma, he fell in love and married another woman and now he wants to be with Camila and not her. I can understand that it would not be easy to do so, but even if she were perfectly healthy, I think he lacks the strength or will to do so.

Otherwise, he would have taken steps toward that goal already and he has not, other than take her to the local clinic and make and then break a bunch of promises to Camila. I don't see any actions he has taken that would support your view of him, just empty words, but maybe I'm missing something.

I haven't seen any comments about this, but Yucky Yago is really at work as a jerk! Trying to "help" Camila by selling her the BV bulls behind his brother's back! I suspect he will doublecross someone along the way and likely get caught. I think he thinks he is much more clever than he is in reality!

Carolina, I feel you but you're too hard on Dan -- I have faith that he'll do the correct thing under the right circumstances.

Myo-

Fun game. I got a 78% Shakespearean with my entry from Refugio:

"Rose is ritualistically putting on a penitent’s outfit (Non-itchy, white raw silk sackcloth outer garment by Balenciaga; exclusive twisted silken rope cincture, sold separately—made from royal silkworms and imported from Thailand). She sees the stigmata reflected in the mirror. She feels sublimely blessed by invisible pain and spiritually cleansed as blood runs down the palms of her hands. I am your chosen one, your child, your most beloved, she supplicates. Viewerville sees her hands and they are not pierced or bloody. Then we see her bandaging her imaginary wounds. She is drawn deeper into delusions of beatification."

Actually this sounds more like the New Testament of the King James Version of the Bible--oh, nearly same time period, so I guess I'll take the 78%. Madelaine and I would definitely get less than 20% on one of our submissions from El Talisman.

Finally at a laptop, but all the great quotes from the recap have been highlighted already, so no need for me to go on and on. (Phones really aren’t meant for long comments.) Thanks again Mena!

I also didn't get a good feeling from smarmy Yago when he offered to sell the bulls to Camila. But they were both actually right for wanting to do it, I think. Camila shouldn't keep accepting charity from Mariano if it makes her uncomfortable. She always makes sure she pays Mariano back promptly whenever he does one of these favors for her. And Yago would be stupid to try to gouge her on the price for the bulls-- first, because she would know if he were doing it; and second, his brothers would KILL him if he did. But they will still be bugged that he accepted money from Cam when she is likely about to have a serious economic crisis, and really needs to hang on to any pesos she has at the moment to take care of things like those lawsuits sure to come, buying the vaccine, and then replacing the lost bulls. The Albarran payment could really wait till a later time.

Mena--You are right. I thought he was maneuvering to keep the money himself. If Camila said anything to Mariano after the crisis was over and Mariano checks with him, Yago would either say he forgot or shrug his shoulders and say he knows nussing.

Viv, Cami's goals may be right thinking, but she's trusting the wrong "goalkeeper", so to speak. Yago has yet to show his plans are based on shared good with anyone else. IMO, this will not turn out well somewhere down the line.

That's exactly what I think he will do if Mariano doesn't catch him first.

Iagho will take anything he can get and devil take anyone else. May his Karmageddon not be delayed too long.

As far as Yago selling Cami the bulls, don't forget that Cayetano is on his way home and will have some say so about that. Not saying that he won't do it, just saying that Yago won't be in charge (I hope).

Hope the law isn't waiting for Isa when she arrives. I want her around for awhile.

What was Rafa saying about the possibility of Roman being too old?

A couple of comments from previous episodes I just have to get off my mind.

Aleta--Thank you for sharing your "annie" with us. I can't think of anything worse to happen just like *that* to an otherwise healthy person. Many years ago, I had a close co-worker who was 36 & started to have excruciating headaches. It turned out to be an aneurysm. He was not as fortunate as you. His popped while on the operating table and suffered a severe stroke. It took years of rehab but he had a wonderful wife that stayed with him and helped him. He wrote a book--wow--here he is: http://www.strokesurvivor.com/

I learned to communicate with him, slowly and tediously, but we managed. Eventually he had to resign his job--he was very smart, but could no longer communicate effectively and gradually we lost touch.

I thought Dan changing into his charro suit before heading out to the MQ in an emergency was kind of funny, too. Now I see the symbolism--that's where he wants to be. But today, Miriam let him out to play so he's wearing a t-shirt.

Lastly--I had to tighten my ranchero beanie, but how could Dion get ahold of enough virus to contaminate all those tanks, if it had been eradicated? Did he just go on line and order it from Amazon?

Oops, just found the ans to my ques. Rafa said that somewhere down the line they can adopt a baby. (It pays to read the entire recap before asking about what just might be there if you read a little further)!

A sleazebag delivered the virus to Dionicio in a cooler & it cost mucho since it was so hard to get. I don't think he said where he got it.

Carolina -- Thank you.I either missed or forgot that Mariano suggested cleaning out the water troughs. Smart man (with other good qualities, but alas, not right for Camila).

I want to make a defense of Miriam. I am NOT saying that she should be with Daniel, just that I find her to be a beautiful, gracious and economically-privileged woman, who has taken quite a lot of stuff for the team. She was shot, after all, still isn't well (brain inflammation if nothing else) and finds her husband in an odd set of circumstances -- to say the least -- in a foreign country.

The relationship between Daniel and Miriam was categorically different from that between Daniel and Camila. In the early episodes, Daniel loved Miriam, but was also not in a successful position economically. Abram didn't approve of him, he couldn't support Miriam, etc. There were social class and religious differences.

Daniel comes to Mexico and is everyone's big brother, helper, protector and, finally, a land owner. He's in danger but freer, and, at the same time, dedicated to something much larger than himself. Apart from actual attraction, the relationship itself, the setting, the life on the ranch in Mexico must all seem so enticing. The life with Miriam has to seem smaller and less alluring, except for his devotion to Agatha.

Destiny is in every way with Camila and Daniel. And, Daniel does seem pretty blank right now, but geez, the writers have structured this phase to be impossible for him. Or beanie-worthy, even in this very well crafted novela that I am going to miss very much.

Vario--I remember the exchange, just surprised that it could be obtained so easily--OR that Dio would know what he wanted. But que the heck, I just rearranged my ranchero hat to go with the flow.

Traveling Lady- I like your analysis. I feel like we should compare and contrast the two relationships to see what we find. I’m thinking out loud as I write, but your comments have my mind going.

Miriam is a good, gracious woman. She’s a fighter and goes after what she wants. She’s also a woman who seems used to getting what she wants. Since she’s not a bad person or evil, this really has never been a problem before. She was willing to live modestly to be with the man she loved, and Dan was willing to change his religion to be with the woman he loved. She and Dan had a loving relationship, and they really seemed to respect and support each other. I never saw huge sparks between them, but we saw lots of love and warmth.

When Dan first married Miriam he did have a job. He lost his job a few years later and also lost his mom around the same time. Add to that Abe’s disapproval, and those last months before Miriam was shot were rough times for Dan. During his flashback last night, he didn’t just remember the good times. He also remembered arguing with Miriam about her offer to use her inheritance to support them while he was out of work. This was becoming a point of strain in their marriage- before the news of the baby and then the inheritance brightened things. I find it interesting that Miriam did/does not work. Dan must have been a really good saver for them to afford to live in that nice (although small) apartment, while he was out of work and after he had paid all those expenses for his mother’s health issues and then her funeral. That shows me that he had been a good provider.

Once he met and fell in love with Camila, he switched from the “provider” role, to the protector role—and not just with Camila, but with almost everyone (Luzma, Nat, Amanda). It was like he had found his true calling. He went from feeling useless and impotent, to feeling needed and respected—even as he played a subservient chofer. And with Cam he not only found a good, gracious woman, like Miriam was, but also a woman who is independent, passionate and spontaneous. Being with her seems to bring out his passionate/proactive nature, in a way that being with Miriam doesn’t seem to. With Miriam he always seems to turn inward when he’s emotionally troubled (even when they were in Chile). Camila draws him out of his shell and makes him either do something or say what’s going on with him. She always provokes a response from him—even back when he was hiding the truth from her.

I think in the long run, Camila is better for Dan than Miriam is. He’s a better man when he’s with her. Not like he was a bad person before, but he seems more present and better at facing life’s challenges head on when he’s with Camila.

Great analysis, Vivi. I like the idea that he is a better man with Camila. I didn't say it as clearly as you did, but that's why I feel like, apart from novela rules, he has to be with Camila in the end.
He just seems so much more alive with Camila and with his Malquerida family than with Miriam.

I just watched tonight's episode on-line because I have an early day tomorrow. It's one NOT to miss!

Myo, you’re probably right about Dan and me being too hard on him. I’m just pissed at him for ditching Camila. :P

TL, very well put. I think it’s very reasonable to say that about Miriam’s good qualities and I agree with you about everything else.

Vivi, also really liked your post. However, I think that after Dan lost his job, they were living off of Miriam’s inheritance, so he may not have been a good saver or provider. In his memory bubble, he said he didn’t want to be supported by her (or something similar).

Both of you made some great observations.

I know one thing for sure. I would choose life as a landowner/rancher on the MalQ over a computer geek in a highrise any day of the week.

heyyyy! sorry off topic! but i didnt know how to get hold of the owner(s) of this blog :( in soy tu duena there is a pert where gaby persuades valentina to sing for JM outside their house she sings this really sweet song though JM wasnt in the house and then Ivanna intefered, what is the name of the song? please repl anyone who knows or email me to dayday.soliid@gmail.com
