Por ella soy Eva #157 3/1/13: Sugar, I'm Going Down Swinging, If I Can't Have You, I Don't Want No Body Baby
I'm going down, down in an earlier round:
So Pluti is meeting with the henchies and finds out that Helena was indeed with JC in Acapulco, cause the guy swears on his Motha, well, maybe not that, but you get the drift, it is so true she was with this guy in the pic, doncha know, so now Pluti is in denial, ya know that river in Egypt, can't be that infeliz is so dead. But on second thought, Pluti is gonna make good and sure that JC is really dead, but the henchie tells him he can't follow Helena or JC cause they know who he is. So Pluti decides to take the task on himself. He is gonna find the proof of JC being alive or dead. Just watch him.
Is that you Baby, or just a brillant disguise:
So Rebe has one of those film noir scarves on, no not like the Renato kind, ya know silky and animal printed that she is wearing like Grace Kelly in a convertible, and is trying to sneak into her place, sight unseen, when guess who is awaiting her noir self? That's right Onesimo, who about scares her half to death. Onesimo has got some news for her, he knows she wants to marry Pluti, but Pluti gave Onesimo orders to do away, er, kill her! Rebe is just like oh, noes.... Well, Onesimo tells Rebe how much he luuuurrrves her. She tells Onesimo to hit the road Jack and take that three mil with him cause she ain't gonna be needing it, cause soon she will be Mrs. Plutarco Ramos Arrieta, y punto as she shoves him out the door.
The Three Stooges take a meet:
So JC, Fern and Santi are having a little meet all about things as they stand. JC has to find some way to tell Helena and Adri the truth about Eva cause he just can't accept this award. Fern thinks if Eva tells Adri the truth he is gonna have one big infarto! Santi really beleives the truth of the fraud is at G.I. but they found no proof of any Pluti connection in Mendoza's papers. They remind JC how much in lurrvvee Adri is with Eva. JC just wants to find a way to make Eva disappear. Eva puts on lip gloss as Fern and Santi look on, just bedazzled by what they are seeing.
Oh, the places she could go:
Rebe is alone on her bed now thinking what her next mis planes could be. So Rebe thinks to herself, well hey if I were to get preggers with Pluti's child it could be her life insurance, who knew! Well, Rebe seems to think if she were to get preggers by Pluti he wouldn't want to harm her, no siree Bob, cause he would be hurtin' his own progeny, doncha know!
I'll be your # 1 with a bullet:
So now Pluti is gettin his drunk on, ya know just a hittin the whiskey. He is so pithed to think that Helena cheated with that miserable infeliz of a JC. So he takes that pic of Helena he has and just smashes it against his brick wall. Pluti feels a cold breeze against his face and just a tad of a whisp of smoke so to speak. He feels that JC is taking everything away from him and he tries to calm down. So now Pluti is passed out from all that whiskey and is sleepin, the pic of JC and Helena lays shattered on the floor. So who should come to visit Pluti in his drunken dream??? Antonia of course, and she is lookin' mighty good I must say. It is good to see her terrifyin' Pluti so to speak. She crows she knew JC was alive the whole time, he was never on the other side. He kinda wakes up, looks around like QTH, and goes back to sleep in the wallow of the liquor.
The Woman of the Year:
So Eva has come to G.I. and is immediately surrounded by people, the Blue Skirts, Helena, Lucia, Santi the whole bunch to let Eva know there will be a photo session for Eva for Woman of the Year. Eva don't wanna take no pics, she is so done with that. Helena has to encourage her. Helena reminds her of all the good things Eva has done to be named woman of the year. Eva gets a little sentimental, both of them get teary Helena reminds Eva she really needs to accept the award, they are in Eva's office now, remember how Antonia rooted for both of them. Eva is like Antonia. Helena is massaging Eva's shoulders. Helena even tells Eva about how Eva has changed Adri from being a macho, macho man, to be a pussy cat with the woman now at G.I. Helena hugs Eva and finally Eva agrees to the photo shoot.
The Father and Son Meet:
So Fern has come to the ole homestead to visit with Kevin, see how things are, you get the drift. Kevin is telling Fern that Jennifer might be switching schools cause of those pics. Fern is very confused, not knowing anything about them you see. Kevin finally gets it and says you don't know bout them do you? So he kinda tells Fern what went on. Fern is pithed he didn't know anything about them.
The Photo Session for Woman of the Year:
So Eva poses in many poses for this photo shoot. She lounges on a chaise lounge, makes that moue face, puckers up her lips, then stands with Helena in front as she is behind and take a pic of that. Eva seems to be enjoying this a whole lot, after all the fuss she put up before this photo shoot.
Me and Mr Adri Reyes, we got a thing goin' on:
So Mimi is at the pension when Adri drops by. Eva is so not answering her cell again and he dropped in hoping she would be there, so to speak. Well, Mimi tells him, she isn't she's at G.I. They share a laugh. She invites Adri to stay to breakfast, it sounded sort of like chili lorio? He stares at that gold statue and decides he will stay for breakfast and follows Mimi. So Mimi tells Adri he is lookin' swell. Adri so enjoyed the breakfast and Adri is happy. Adri is so happy cause he is gettin' married and the baby on the way. Mimi says sometimes appearances can be decieving and Mimi is lookin a little verklempt and says it must be the hormones making her this way. Adri assures Mimi and he and Eva will be by Mimi's side, they won't abandon her she's like family and he starts to think of Antonia and is on the verge of crying, when Mimi gives him a big ole hug. She tells him to let it all out, don't hold it in, it is better to let it out. While Mimi is hugging Adri he suddenly gets kinda still and then and then......HE SMELLS THAT PERFUME!!!! He looks deep into her eyes thanks her and without so much as a second thought they have one deep, soulful kiss. YOWZA, jus' sayin'. That kiss finally breaks and Adri is mortified. He begs Mimi's pardon, and Mimi is just smiling and happy. Adri is just sooo confused and he keeps telling that statue he con su permiso. It's too funny. He also tells Mimi they cannot betray Eva. He keeps going back to Mimi, time and again, and you can tell he wants to continue kissing her, but he can't and he finally goes. Mimi is over the moon with that kiss, but sad too.
Am I more than you bargained for yet? :
Pluti has come in in high dungeon to G.I. and is really pithed about this photo shoot with Eva and I think tells them all to go back to work. Vero gives Renato an envelope at this time. It is addressed to Renato with something inside. So now Renato goes to Pluti's office and Pluti thanks him for finding the proof of Rebe's guilt, ya know the alliance with the competition. Pluti can't beleive Renato is still at G.I., he really thought Renato would be replaced, er, Adri would have gotten rid of him cause he's batting for the other side, so to speak. Renato is pithed at Pluti for saying it and also for throwing him under the bus. Pluti says everyone would have found out about Renato anyways. Renato just can't beleive Pluti didn't stick up for him.
Message to Angelica:
So Rebe is calling Angie and not just to say hidey ho, if you get the drift. So Rebe has a little message for Angie. She tells Angie if anything should happen to Rebe, to please come back to Mexico, there is a Post Office Box, she needs to be checking for some paperwork Angie is to bring to Adri and the policia. Angie is very upset!
The Sensible Twosome:
So Santi and Eva are at G.I. and having a little meet and Santi is just shocked that Eva is gonna accept the Woman of the Year award, cause ya know Eva ain't really a woman. JC/Eva says he has no choice he has gotta do it. Santi is so shocked that Eva/JC is actually gonna do it. So Eva explains to Santi that Eva is gonna have to disappear. Santi wants to know how that is gonna happen. Well, JC has that all planned out. Eva is gonna leave letters for Helena and Adri explaining that Eva had to "go away" cause she has a past that is haunting her. Also that the bebe Eva is having, in reality Mimi is having cause Adri slept with Mimi not Eva. Eva/JC justifies this to Santi by telling him it is best if Eva just disappears so that he can go back to being JC before Helena finds out he was ever Eva! Santi is just okayyyyy.
Renato's Day Just Got Better:
So Renato goes to his office and opens that envelope. Inside is a letter with a disc. Ed Note: I didn't directly translate the letter. I think it says you might find this a bit interesting and maybe you can use it. A friend. So Renato is just floored and puts the disc into the computer. Now we don't see what Renato is lookin' at, but we hear Rebe talkin' to Cachito of course and they sound like they are having a good ole time, and some water splashing. So this seems to be one of their jacuzzi romps they were so fond of. Renato is just flabbergasted by what he is seein'. Renato gives Adri a call and tells him he needs to see him. Adri tells Renato to meet him in a restaurant. Renato goes.
Fern Meets the Wife:
Fern goes to G.I. to confront Marcela bout keeping those pics of Jennifer's from him. Marcela tries to explain to Fern that she is trying to help Jennifer through this with her dignity intact. Marcela doesn't want Jennifer to feel guilty over all this crap that happened. Something was said about the authorities and Dan that I didn't catch. If you did please fill in. Anyways Fern realizes that Marcela handled this better than he could have. He actually called her Flaca, and then corrected himself and called her Marcela. Anyhoo, she gots lots of work, has gotta go and she'll call a lawyer. She goes. Fern is unhappy.
He's Batting for the wrong team you say??? Get over it already!!!!
So Renato goes to that restaurant and low and behold it is Adri alright, but Modesto is also there. So Renato is a little reluctant, thinking he has been set up as Modesto has, cause Modesto is being his putzy self. So Adri has Renato sit down and tells Modesto to stay put. He tells Modesto, now that he is going to be a Papa, his life has changed and family is very important to him. Life can change in an instant, like you could keel over and die instant. Everybody should take the opportunity to heal the wounds in their lives. Adri pointedly tells Modesto, you already lost one son, you can't lose the other one, and with that Adri goes so that Modesto and Renato can have a little chat. So Modesto tells Renato about Eugenia kicking him out of his home and Claudia staying with her, and not coming with him. Modesto tells Renato he is living in an hotel. Renato tells Modesto he and JC are nothing alike. Renato has tears in his eyes and calls Modesto, Papa. Modesto tells Renato it is hard for him to accept the fact that Renato is gay. Renato tells Modesto it wasn't so easy for him either. Renato tells Modesto he so doesnt' want him to end up alone as Renato is now alone. Renato leaves and Modesto is sitting there thinking about what Renato said.
Helena is Meeting her Mad Dad:
Helena has come to see Mad Dad. I think she has come to invite Mad Dad to Eva and Adri's wedding. He isn't down with that. Helena tells her Mad Dad that even though they don't have a great relationship, she won't judge him cause he is her Dad, doncha know she wants to have a loving relationship with him, like when she was little and his princessa. He is mad at Helena cause he wanted her to be an upright woman, not getting pregnant and being a single mother. Where is that frying pan. Helena is about to leave, she has tears in her eyes, when Mad Dad tells her he will go to the wedding with her. Helena is so very happy and she hugs him! After she goes, Mad Dad has a contemplative look on his face.
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it:
So Pluti has followed Helena to her Mad Dad's and is watching her to see if maybe she was meeting with JC. So he follows her as she gets into a cab. He is determined to catch her with JC and to kill JC if need be with his bare hands.
The Chisme Meet:
So Mimi and Eva are talking and Mimi tells Eva/JC about Adri's little visit earlier. Mimi tells JC/Eva about that YOWZA kiss with Adri. Eva is kinda paying attention, but kinda not, and then all of a sudden Eva/JC exclaims 'ESTUPIDO". At first Mimi thinks it is directed at her and Adri, but that is not Eva/JC's intention. Eva/JC is thinking that those names they found in Mendoza's files earlier, ya know Alberto, Henry, etc are names for Pluti!!!! JC is now on the case!

Good morning Mad! Roger that! Someone predicted this. Pluty is stepping up his danger game yet again. Correct me if i am wrong but before he wanted Helena's boyfriend dead even if he had to do it with his own hands. Now he knows he wants Juan dead, so he is aggressively stalking Helena to kill Juan ?! Gives me the creeps. In next weeks previews someone is picking up the pics of Juan becoming Eva. I so wish it was Juan or Mimi just picking them up to burn them once and for all.
All of the 'strike a pose' posing that Eva was doing for the photographers was hilarious and everyone at the company was having fun with it. The scene where Helena rubbed Eva's shoulders gave me mixed feelings. I was thinking...."Juan don't accept the award, it will be another fraud that you may have to do time for." On the other hand I'm thinking, "Eva is going to be so hilarious if she accepts this award and it will be such a morale boost for everyone in the company!" Eugenia was so right when she said that her son gets carried away with his characters.
Nice kissing between Adri and Mimi. I felt good for Mimi...she deserves a break. I am looking forward to Mad's interpretation of what they were saying to one another.
OMG next weeks ultimas have JC/Eva on the wedding altar with Adri. Tell me it is a dream or a rehearsal. But there seemed to be a lot of people there. Looking forward to more fireworks next week!! Gertie

Adriano & Mimi yeah! He was so cute trying to leave & being drawn back -- and saying "permiso" to his favorite (or perhaps now his second favorite) golden goddess each time he passed her. And he has a body memory of Mimi's "abrazo" to go with the olfactory memory of her perfume.
Adriano again -- engineering an meeting between Modesto & Renato. And it may be starting to work.
Fernando realizing that his family is doing fine without him.
The thawing of Eduardo. We in the northeast know that the thawing takes place under the surface and when the ice & snow disappear it looks like it was fast even though it's been happening all along.

I was totally creeped-out by the appearance of Antonia in Pluti's apartment...her form drifting behind him in the dark, her eyes in the shadows, and finally her whispering in his ear. I liked Antonia; I want her to get her revenge on Pluti, even if it's only in his nasty, little mind.
The mix-up in wedding time may be Eva/JC's undoing. He has a plan to escape, but I fear he will be caught by women friends who will get him to the alter. What will happen if everyone finds out Eva=JC!?!?!?!?

It seems that in so many ways the lives of Juan and Pluto run parallel. But Juan is the true version and Pluto is the fake.
1. Pluto capitalizes on his position as Adri's cuñado, even though his marriage to Antonia was a sham. While Juan was always like a son to Adri.
2. Juan comes from the upper class. Pluto seems to, but probably comes from the low class.
3. Juan deeply loves Helena. Pluto is obsessed with her and it's really self-love; he wants Helena for his good, not for hers.
4. It appears that Juan damaged GI but really he wants it to prosper, while Pluto actually is trying to destroy GI.
I'm sure there are other true/false parallels between Juan and Pluto. Suggestions?

I have really liked this TN even though I'll be glad when it's over. I thought it a bit too long. Jaime did a fantastic job as Eva.I kept thinking he was going to answer his phone with the wrong voice.

I miss Antonia too! I think it is good that she is creeping PLuty out. The ghostly appearances are scaring us a little too! She is a ghost after all in his mind and I hope she drives him crazy or to his death! She was such a good person when she was alive.

I wish that JC could continue to live as Eva !!! (Except he will finally confess to Helena of course). Adri could leave him/her at the altar because of his feelings for Mimi. No one but Eugenia, Helena, and the two dudes need to know. I'm wrong, but that is my dream. Eva rules, she should live on !

I too love the scenario of Juan/Eva continuing with only 4 people in on the story. It would be a fu sitcom.

I do not care whether Bastardo or Modesto reform. Too little, too late, in my opinion. I don't hate Fernando as much, but I think Marcela would be much better off without him. Santi is better off seeing less of him, too...since Ferni was axed, Santi has actually been doing work.

Welcome Gail. I'm fairly a novice also; this is my third telenovela. Thank you, Julie, for clarifying some of those points yesterday. I was confused by Eva's alarm when she read the time for her (well, Lucia's) wedding. And I also will be watching PESE's replacement. Isn't it called Porque el Amor Manda? Some of the comedies on Univision seem a little over the top for me- there's a lot of shouting. But I found PESE genuinely funny. They lectured us occasionally, but it never seemed heavy-handed. And anyways I invariably agreed with them.
I, too, will miss Eva- referring to herself as fragile, kicking Helena's chair every time she sits down, the constant attempt to flatten Renato's copetes, calling Fernando a Neanderthal caveman, the soapboxes she climbed on, the fanning of her unmentionables which she blamed on menopause... so many shticks. I haven't decided whether it's a good or bad thing that the TN's differ from our soaps in that the TN's are finite. I suppose I'd still be watching One Life to Live if it hadn't gotten cancelled. I, too, will miss Eva- referring to herself as fragile, kicking Helena's chair every time she sits down, the constant attempt to flatten Renato's copetes, calling Fernando a Neanderthal caveman, the soapboxes she climbed on, the fanning of her unmentionables which she blamed on menopause... so many shticks. I haven't decided whether it's a good or bad thing that the TN's differ from our soaps in that the TN's are finite. I suppose I'd still be watching One Life to Live if it hadn't gotten cancelled. Gail, the only bad part about watching a truly great TN like Eva as your first experience, is that almost every TN hereafter will be a disappointment.

Will try to catch the new telenovela (being on this blog is too much fun!) but, as always, will be doing so asynchronously since I watch the shows on Hulu; I have limited cable access. Having a title to look for would be great... Sounds like there are mixed stories out there.
I loved that Mimi agreed with JC when he called himself "estupido!" Said something like, "Yes, we all know you're stupid, but for what reason this time?" I like that she calls it like it is, and reminds him repeatedly that he is still very selfish as JC (when he failed to notice multiple times that her heart was broken).
Pluti in stalker mode is a bit scary. But then Tonita que rodia en el cielo y descanse in paz would rather rodear around her ex. No paz for that woman until Pluti pays the price of his guilt... I'm hoping for more haunting!

When he tried to rape her and he got a beat down from Eva and Fern and then Fern went to confront horrid Dan's dad, the Dad told Dan he was sending him to military school. In retaliation, Dan posted those personal pics on the Internet, where everyone could see them. Her schoolmates saw them and one of Jennifer's friends told her they were on the Internet. Hope that explains it : )

Mads- Thanks so much for this fun recap, and all your others. You gave us full, detailed recaps, brimming with good cheer, week after week, even when you were also recapping other tns, on the same day!

Blue- It was Rebe who made the video, and at one point she tried to use it to bring Pluti down (after she was fired the first time). But when she went to show the video to Adri, there was nothing there because Oni had already taken it.

This morning I got caught up all the way to the first glimpse of Antonia's eyes -- wow! Can't wait for the haunting! Hauntings are one of my favorite dramatic devices, right after horse-chases and really good slaps.

So what is Rebeca thinking in terms of a pregnancy scheme? Is she just going to TELL Pluti she's PG? Or is she actually going to try to get knocked up? This might be Onesimo's lucky day after all...

Oh, that statue - it's at the pension, right? Something that Parakeet Eva had brought in for the "spa"? So now I'm wondering what was the statue I saw Adriano groping a few months ago. Maybe he has a something similar at home.
Julie, if you want I'll share with you. I can do the first half. It is going from 8:00pm to 10:00pm knocking out Amores Verdaderos. I won't have to recap that one this Friday.
La Paloma, we never got to see any racy photos of Jennifer. Just one where there was a strap that was let down on her shoulder. The other she was fully dressed. I think she may have sent a risque pic with no clothes or semi-dressed but we never saw it.
