Victoria’s Office
Meta Imagen Arriaga and Victoria are sobbing loads because they can’t think
of a way to fulfill their lustful fantasies for one another without upsetting a
majority of the people in their lives. Victoria
makes an executive decision. So that
they will remain chaste, Guzman will guard her body and Arriaga will guard
Nikki’s. The thought of having to work
for Nikki makes Arriaga’s heart sink. He
cries harder as he walks at a snail’s pace towards the door.
(Anibal’s) Allotta
Ballsvanera Bedroom Gilda the B/Sn/W/itch (there was no gun to her head)
betrays her "friend" by telling Don Anibal that Paula is Guzman’s mother. Anibal’s pride takes a heavy blow when he learns
that he is not irresistible to Paula.
Park Guzman is
forced to entertain a Ballsvanera by eating an ice cream cones in the park with
Adrianna on his PTO day. They are discussing
how it’s a myth that men and women can’t be friends when Guzman takes an important
phone call. Anibal wants to see him
STAT.
Balvanera Mansion
Sitting Room Nikki’s lapel and collar is made up of the carcasses of several
multi-colored road-kill rabbits. Nikki
tells Kendra that she and Roy are getting hitched in one month. Squealing and sporting her normal “hooker
ensemble”, Kendra leaps from the couch and embraces her friend. Naturally, Nikki’s bff will be her maid of
honor. Kendra’s all excited because she
gets to wear a hot dress. Kendra then
shares that she’s preggers. Who’s the
daddy? The married man? Kendra confirms that she is indeed a selfish,
man-stealing, HOmewrecker with absolutely no morals and is preggers by a
married man. She will do the noble thing and never tell his family about
the baby. Tomasina interrupts the intense conversation and asks if Nikki is
hungry. She’s also going to the grocery
store and wants Nikki’s list. Nikki
start bitching about Tomasina being all up in her business and Tomasina
threatens not to do a zodiac reading for Nikki and Roy. Kendra wants to know what’s up with Tomasina;
she’s a little familiar with you. She’s like family and my mom would die if
anything happened to her, says Nikki. Kendra
wheels are turning.
Ballsvanera Planetarium Lilly is on her knees sweeping up some spilled dirt while Polita looks on. Since it’s her birthday, Lilly is off tomorrow. Her big plans are to go to mass and to thank the Virgin Mary for sending Guzman to save her from their house fire. Whooo Party at the Catholic church! BYOCommunionWine! Polita wants to know what Lilly wants for her birthday. Liily wants a hug! Who writes for this character? She’s so saccharin sweet, I’m about to hurl. Lilly says some mumbo jumbo about her father saying that it’s not the gift that counts; it’s the love in your heart…whatever. Polita is planning a big surprise for Lilly.
Bedroom de Allota
Ballsvanera Nikki complains to
Anibal that Victoria thinks that she and Roy are moving too fast with the
wedding. Anibal believes that Nikki is
doing the right thing by not getting involved with losers like Adrianna and
Victoria did in their youth. Anibal says
that Roy is from a good family like she is and Anibal is proud of her. Arriaga enters the bedroom and, reluctantly
informs Nikki of the changes in the body guard duties. Due to
several unforeseen circumstances, such as he has the hotsy totsies for her
mother, effective immediately, the Ballsvanera Human Resources Department will
implement several personnel changes and duties.
Arriaga will be in charge of babysitting Nikki. Lucky him.
Guzman will guard Victoria. Upon
hearing this, Nikki throws a tantrum and storms out of the room. She is going to confront her mother about
this. Anibal tells Arriaga to have patience. Arriaga chases his charge from the room. He has to drive her.
Kendra’s Apartment
Complex Kendra and Espanto (AKA
Kendra’s accomplice in Nikki’s” kidnapping”) are standing in the driveway in
front of Kendra’s apartment building. It makes complete sense because Espanto is
either invisible or her neighbors are blind.
(Warning! Extreme run-on sentence
ahead!) Absolutely no one would find it
odd that a blonde, six-feet tall, super model is standing in front of a blazing
red VW New Beetle, wearing a fetish-black rubber micro mini-dress and sporting
Weird Al curls is casually shooting the breeze with a man who was once jailed
for kidnapping her and she is not screaming.
Kendra calls Salsero and asks for
a small favor. She wants to know
Tomasina’s birthday. At first he
questions her, but changes his tune when she reminds him of his previous
crimes. She’s convinced that Bea won’t
appreciate knowing that the love of her life is shady (pun intended).
Bedroom de Allotta
Ballsvanera Anibal tells Guzman he
knows that he’s Paula’s son. Anibal
decrees that Paula can no longer enter the Ballsvanera Mansion. He makes Guzman fire his own mother on his
day off. Yeah, I think this is grounds
for a lawsuit. Commercial.
Paula’s Crib Hilda
the W/B/Sn/itch informs Paula that Anibal twisted her arm and forced her to
reveal that Guzman is her son. No
worries, says Paula. Paula is sure that
Anibal had to beat it out of Gilda. Little does
she know.
Meta Imagen Reception
Area Nikki informs her father (Nelson) that Kendra is knocked up. Although fully aware that Kendra is preggers (because
he is the sperm donor and was present at the time of conception), Nelson fails
to reveal to his daughter, that she is about to become a big sister. Nelson is pissed that Kendra told Nikki. She always seems like such a sweet tramp.
Meta Imagen
Victoria’s Office Nikki storms into her mother’s office and starts yelling
about the change of the guard. She’s
tired of Victoria butting in her life.
Not wishing to reveal that she is only switching guards so that she won’t
involuntarily hump Arriaga’s leg, Victoria blames her decision on Nikki’s
mistreating of Guzman. Nikki says that
it’s none of her mother’s business how she abuses Guzman. Victoria asks Nikki if she is in love with
Guzman because Nikki is protesting a little too much. Nikki laughs and adamantly denies it. She claims that she is totally in love with
Roy.
Meta Imagen Reception
Area Salsero calls Victoria’s former (hmmmm, I wonder why?) secretary and
asks for Tomasina’s birthday. Why he
didn’t just ask Tomasina and why does the secretary still have that information? I
don’t know…but anyways, she gives it to him.
Meta Imagen
Victoria’s Office Nikki and Victoria
are still arguing over the changing of the guard. Victoria demands to know if Nikki is in love
with Guzman. Nikki continues to insist
that she is enamored with Roy. Victoria
tells Nikki that she is doing this for cough
her cough own good. She doesn’t want Nikki to marry Roy because
she is denying her feelings for Guzman. Nikki
tells her mother that they will let Guzman decide whether he wants to guard
Nikki’s body or her middle-aged mother’s body.
Nikki wants Victoria to call Guzman right away. Nikki goes to the cafeteria to wait for Guzman’s
arrival on his day off.
Meta Imagen Nelson’s
Office Nelson is in his office swilling hard liquor and complaining to Salsero about
Kendra’s big mouth. Nelson
doubts that he’s the daddy. He doesn’t
know who she sleeps with or anything about her past. Now? Now, he’s worried about that? Salsero indirectly hints that he should get a
Deny Natal Accusations
test. Nelson says that he suggested it,
but Kendra got all hissy about it. Kendra
says that Nelson has no reason to doubt her fidelity. Of
course, she was crossing all fingers, toes and both eyes when she said it. Nelson says that he’ll be ruined if he’s
the father. He gets an internal phone
call and leaves the room. While Nelson is out, Salsero uses the
opportunity to call Kendra and give her Tomasina’s birthday.
Kendra’s
Apartment We see the Kendra/Salsero
telephone conversation from her home. You are not the boss of me, Salsero, says Kenda. I don’t have to tell you anything! But, she does anyway. OK, so Espanto is out of jail and back in
town. She needs to appease him and get
him out of her life. She can’t handle
stress in her condition. Salsero drops
that he’s heard that she’s baking a bun.
She confirms it. Her plans are to
trap Nelson into marrying her so that she can get her hands on the Ballsvanera
money. Salsero sarcastically wishes her
luck.
Paula’s Pad On his day off, as ordered, Guzman fires
his mother on behalf of Allotta Ballsvanera.
He hands her the separation papers along with the generous severance
package (she got a penthouse apartment and jewelry). Paula agrees not to visit the mansion anymore
because she loves Guzman so much. She
tells Guzman that he can come see her at any time. Guzman almost kisses her goodbye, but decides
against it.
Arriaga Kitchen Christina is making Lilliana a big bowl
of tamales for her birthday. Lilly is
down because Adrianna’s child and Lilly share the same birthday. Christina gets a little ticked because
whenever ever Lilly is with Adrianna or even thinks of Adrianna, she acts all
melancholy. Christina doesn’t want to
see her child suffer or upset. Lilly
says that she would always choose Christina as a mother. Holding
back another hurl. It’s getting pretty
hard to restrain myself. I’m just
saying.
Ballsvernera Mansion Adrianna
has cornered Tomasina at the kitchen table.
You’ve known him for years, do you think my father is being truthful
about what happened to my baby? Or do you think he’s a low-down dirty rotten
lying hound dog like I do? Tomasina
concedes that Anibal might struggle with little things like truth or facts. Adrianna makes
Tomasina promise to spy on her father and give her all intell regarding
Adrianna’s baby.
Meta Imagen Victoria’s
Office Victoria explains to Arriaga
that Nikki is set on having Guzman watch her body. Arriaga can barely contain his glee at the
possibility of getting out of putting up with Nikki. He feigns disappointment. He says that he will do his best to get Nikki
to accept him. Guzman bursts through the
door and knocks Arriaga out of the way. I’m here, even though it’s my day off…not
that anyone cares. Victoria tells
Guzman that she wants him to watch her body, and Arriaga will watch Nikki’s. She tells him that the final decision is
his. Nikki puts her arms around his
shoulders and smiles sweetly at her mother.
She’s certain that he will choose her.
Guzman chooses to guard Victoria.
Commercial.
Roy’s House Doris,
Roy’s mother, attempts to talk Roy out of marrying Nikki. She reminds him that Nikki enjoys throwing up
and that’s just not very sexy. Her constant vomiting might be a quaint quirk to him now, but as the years go on, it might start to grate on his nerves. She’s
read that bulimic women have a hard time getting knocked up and she wants some
grandkids. She points out that Nikki does not have good birthing hips. Roy grows a little concerned that
his mother is worried about his reproductive activities and says that he doesn’t
want children right now. Milton, Roy’s
father, says that they don’t have money to leave to grandkids anyway, so it’s
not a big priority. Milton wants Roy to
marry a potentially barren Nikki because they’re broke. The Ballsvenera fortune will get them out of
debt. Later, Roy can divorce Nikki and
marry a fertile woman who can spit out children. Roy says that he will marry Nikki no matter
how much his mother objects to the union.
Doris tries one more time and says that a marriage without love will
suck. Yeah, but a marriage without money
sucks Big Time, counters Milton.
Grocery Store A
disguised Espanto deliberately rams his cart into Tomasina’s cart. He calls her
a fire goat, which is her Chinese zodiac sign (he could tell by her eyes). She
gets all warm and fuzzy with him because she is into the zodiac signs as
well. He introduces himself as a water
rabbit, like Brad Pitt.
Roy’s House Roy wants to hold the mother of all
bachelor parties at the ranch. Doris
informs him that the ranch has been sold.
His father sold it to keep up appearances (aka to fake in the game)
until Roy marries Nikki. Doris feels
guilty about lying to Victoria and thinks that they should ask her for a
loan. Milton nixes that idea.
Outside of Meta
Imagen Nikki chases Guzman out of
building. He explains that he’s supposed to be on PTO,
yet he’s sees Ballsvaneras everywhere and no one but him seems to care. Arriaga follows closely behind them. Nikki tells Arriaga to be deaf, dumb and
blind. He backs off. Like her grandfather, Nikki is finds it
incredulous that she in not irresistible.
She bets him a kiss they he will crave another and lays one on him.
He does not resist the kiss. Men. They are soooo predictable.
Meta Imagen Victoria’s
Office Victoria imagines that Arriaga is sitting on the couch watching her
body. Those
Ballsvaneras a little self-absorbed.
Outside of Meta
Imagen Guzman tells Nikki that she’s lost the bet. He isn’t interested in more of her
kisses. Nikki accuses him of only pretending not to
worship her. She knows that he’s jealous
of Roy. She also knows that Guzman loves
kissing her. Guzman says that he’s happy
because he’ll finally get some peace when he guards Victoria. Arriaga is crestfallen. Guzman mocks Nikki for begging him to watch
her body. Nikki calls Arriaga over, gets
him in a choke hold and asks if it sounds like she’s begging. Arriaga reminds her that he is supposed to be
deaf, dumb and blind. She says that they
will get along fine. She announces that
their leaving but accidentally calls Arriaga by Guzman’s name.
Ballsvanera Mansion
Kitchen Espanto calls Tomasina. Tomasina has to return to the grocery store tomorrow
because she didn’t get half of the stuff on her list. Espanto distracted her from her duties. Espanto will go to the grocery store with her
after breakfast. He hangs up and tells
Kendra that Tomasina bought everything. Credits.

This is Cynderella. Thank you AV Team for letting me be a guest recapper on this telenovela. I'm a little rusty, but I had fun.
Can someone explain Kendra's logic to me? Nelson is a Brizz, so how is she going to get her hands on the Ballsvanera money? Is he going to get it in a divorce settlement or something?
Cynderella—It is so great to read one of your hilarious recaps again! You aren’t rusty at all. I do think you were being gentle with our AV characters, because I know you can REALLY bring the snark, and these characters so deserve it. :)
As for Kendra’s logic…it doesn’t exist. The biggest, gaping hole in this tn is the motivation/logic of the villains. Really, Leo the Low has the most logical motivations of the villains, and that’s a scary thing.
However, this episode (or was it the preview) Kendra finally said something that made sense—they should kill Victoria. Not like I want Vicky dead, and it won’t happen anyway since she’s the protagonist. But if Kendra wants Nelson to get any real Balvanera money, then he needs to become a widower. And even THAT is no guarantee if Vicky’s will has Nikki as her sole heir. And what makes Kendra think she would move into the Balvanera house after Vicky either divorces Nelson or bites the dust? The house belongs to Anibal and Vicky. Nelson and his new ho would be out on their backsides in either scenario.
I was very disappointed in Salsero this episode. What’s the point of giving Kendra the info she wants, and THEN warning her not to use it for evil. If Kendra wants the info, you KNOW she’s going to use it for evil. What does he think she’s going to do? Send Tomi a birthday gift?

Most unintentionally funny line of the night--- Anibal telling Nikki that some decisions shouldn't be thought about too much...referring to MARRYING someone! If I'm not mistaken, choosing a life partner and co-parent of your future children ranks pretty high up there in decisions one should put a lot of thought into.

The Kendra logic - I get the impression that Anibal still holds most of the money/assets/company, so even as a widower Nelson probably will only get a small portion - especially after Niki's inheritance. I suspect Nelson's 20% of the company is all he can really expect to get.
Salsero - ridiculous. Caving to Kendra due to her "blackmail"? She'll always be able to use that blackmail, and Salsero is just causing more harm to be done in the meantime. There is no hope for him unless he confesses his evil past - and then there's no hope afterwards either, but at least he'll no longer be perpetuating the evil.
I get so tired of the "holding the belly" body language used on TNs by women just barely pregnant. When you belly is showing, makes sense. But running around holding your belly when you are far from showing and flat as a pancake - ridiculous! [Not to mention dresses so short she can't stand up without putting her hands between her legs and constantly having to pull her dress down in front of the camera.]

Ok. Something has been bugging me and it has nothing to do with the storyline. On Abismo de Pasion the actor who plays Salsero was taller than almost all of the other people on the show. Now he is one of the shortest. Does this mean that Zepeda and the crew are petite?

I so enjoyed with scene with Nikki/Guzmancito/Arriaga outside, so much humor in that scene with Arriaga included in it. His reaction when he saw them kiss had me rolling. The whole play deaf blind etc was hilarious. When he tried to comment on it Nikki gives him the look like, "Are you talking back?" Lol
Poor Guzmancito can never catch a break, funny when he say on his day off that he has to see all the Belvanera's everywhere.

P.S I absolutely adrore Nikki's hairstyle, I have a lot of hair and would love to be able to do something like that, it's like it's braided up (backwards) from the bottom of her hair, interesting design for a ponytail.

I had to translate those hieroglyphs to numbers that even I can understand. (I'm in awe, guys that you had to learn both metric systems in school.) So, David is 185 centimeters high and Eduardo is 190.

To my knowledge Erika is 167 cm high. Thats... ummm... 5'5"? I'm 165, so she's higher than I, but she looks so tiny next to Lalo.

Cynderella--I've missed your rollicking good recaps. I see you are still sailing the Hi 'Cs.' How's Victor treating you? I see he's as cute as ever. Like the long hair in recent pics. Has he thought of trying out for a pirate tn?
Back to irreality--that whole scene with Tomasina butting in just to ask what Nikki wanted from the grocery store was so lame. We all know she does the grocery shopping, she should know what Nikki wants--just GO there. Was that really Espanto? He actually cleans up pretty well.
Loved the look on Nikki's face when Guzmi chose Vikki (but we knew that) and the look on Guzmi's face when he saw how pithed she was. It is all a variation on what Vivi described as wash, rinse, repeat--but this time he paused before she did the repeating out in front of the building. Go Team Guzmi--we know you are tired of her abuse, but can't help you are in lurvvve with the little brat.
Glad I was never at the Salsero table. It's practically empty and deservedly so. I'm still getting fed royally at Jean Marie's--but I do hope he *does* wash, rinse, repeat before he gets his fingers into our brioche dough.
Pardon me everyone, but Meta*Mart will *NOT* be carrying a KenHo knock-off, fetish-black rubber micro mini-dresses for spring, or summer or fall or winter--unless it is special ordered for scuba diving in the Balvanera indoor pool.

I only worry that Vikki hasn't thought of or taken the time to change her will if, as would be the custom, she leaves everything to her husband, now in name only. Someone from the script dept. should clue her in.
Also, about marrying in haste. Anibal is of the old school where he got to choose for them--at least in Vikki's case he did. In Adri's case, all he could do was run off Vicente and probably couldn't get anyone else to marry her while in a depressed state. Too bad he didn't just help Vicente into the family business. He was probably better looking than RoyBoyToy. Is he ever going to get the last snarky laugh from the Patio as we watch RollerBoy start to dip into his treasure.

Thanks Doris and Aribeth for the vital statistics! Now I'm even more convinced that they all might be altitudalnally challenged. I think it's all an allusion. I thought that Daniel Craig was huge until I saw him on an episode of SNL. He was standing in a line of men and was up to their shoulders. Then I found an article where gwenetth said that she had to take her shoes off while doing a scene with him. She flat out stated that she is 5'9". In Abismo. Zepeda was shorter than that Salsero dude unless it was a camera trick. Now he's shorter than both arriaga and Guzman unless it's a camera trick. I'm obsessed because I am 5'8" and need a tall partner. Lol.

Agree with Vivi about Kendra's (lack of) logic. Also, why does she think that Nelson will automatically marry her just because she's (if she is) pregnant? He will definitely not divorce Vikki (she might divorce HIM) to marry the side dish. She can sue for child support (which will come from his 20%), but that's about it.

I can just see the conversation between the Roy and Nikki families at the wedding ... Milton: "isn't it great our children are marrying each other? After all the years we've been friends. Salsero needs to block all Kendra's calls and just stop talking to her and getting caught back in her web. Bea may forgive his previous trespasses, but I don't think she'll forgive anything that he does since he's been with her, considering how he's repeatedly told her he's done bad stuff in the past but she's made him change. This seems like a setup for a breakup between Salsero and Bea sometime in the future.

I too agree with everyone on all their comments about the Nikki/Guzmi pairing right now. Nikki needs to grow up some and maybe not having Guzmi around so much may do it for her, or not. I am glad Guzmi decided to guard Vikki's body, lol, so he is out of Roy's way so to speak. Roy would just make him suffer, cause Roy enjoys that sooo much.

vida2- I think them being cast in the same tn depends on two main things: 1) What studios they have contracts with. Right now Rulli is contracted by Televisa and Arambula is contracted by Telemundo; and 2) If they are picked by the producer after auditioning. None of these stars, even the most famous ones, have their parts guaranteed. They must all audition and convince the producer/director that they are right for the part.

I don't know what the writers have in store for Salsero y Betty. People are leaving the Salsero table on the patio and it seems that he has painted himself into a corner with no way out. At this point his future appears bleak. If he confesses his past, he faces possible jail time for kidnaping. Even if no charges are brought against him on the kidnaping, he most certainly would be fired from his bodyguard position and his chances of finding another job in that profession would be slim. He would have to train or go to school to start a new career. He's
not all that young, so a career change would be difficult although not impossible. On the other hand--

Gringo- For all the reasons you mentioned, the Salsero-Bea relationship seems doomed. Of course, he could come clean, lose his job, be forgiven by Bea, and just figure out a new career.
Mads- Chicken hearts are delicious and tender if cooked correctly. We make a delicious spicy version in my Jamaican family.
Tomi did mention that Nikki had a chicken heart, but I think it's more of her Chinese horiscope mumbo jumbo-- not meant to be understood by people who don't follow that kind of stuff. Frankly, I don't even know if the writers are basing ANY of the horoscope stuf she says on reality. I think they might be making it all up. LOL!

Mads- Just found this recipe online. It's for chicken gizzard, mixed with hearts and perhaps liver. But in my family, since we love the hearts the best, and it's easy to get in Asian markets, we pretty much make it with hearts exclusively, and a bit of gizzard maybe. I don't like liver, although I have to say the Caribbean version is way better than any American version I've had, so my parents tend to avoid cooking liver when I'm around. NovelaMaven- You are right. Just did a quick search for "corazon de pollo." It means someone who is sentimental; someone who is moved easily to emotion; or someone who is empathetic (not sure if this applies to selfesh Nikki most of the time). This is very different that the English meaning of chicken hearted, which means cowardly. It sometimes means this in Spanish too.

Madelaine- It does seem liike something the writes threw in there because based on Eiza's real chinese zodiac based on when she was born is a snake. The whole element thing has to do with the time of the year they were born which also gives off more characteristic traits about them. I use to be interested in it when I was younger for some reason. It was fascintating to me back then. Anyways just wanted to throw that in.
