Amores Verdaderos #114 Mon 4/22/13 Cristina's mourning continues... Planning a dinner party some look forward to and some look away from.

Editing in progress. have to make brkfast for grandson first.

KenDrat's place.... Nil-Brains with Ken-Drat in her tub... candle-lit romantic scene...

JA in front of a semi-homemade iron cross at Cristina's toumb...

'Cris Corona de Arriaga... you and I will always be together through the memory of a great love'

(almost seems like a final goodbye, he has planted the white flower plants all through the top of her toumb.)

At B house, Vicky on her laptop... a bit upset... stands up and puts on the music of their theme 'y ahora tú' ... 'Arriaga... Arriaga...'

JA packing at the apartment bedroom... Cristina's dresses draped on the bed, he carefully folds them and hugs them tightly, sniffs them...

Vicky dials a number on cell phone...

JA has not shaven in a few days... the call is to his apartment, he answers... but Vicky cannot speak. He guesses and asks if it is her... 'Sra Victoria?... is that you?... thank you very much for worrying...' She on the other side can only snif a quiet cry. He hangs up.

'Several days later'.

At B house kitchen, JM and Polita worried that Lilli has not come back to work yet. They miss her. They have prayed for God to give them consolation for Cristina's loss.

Nikki lets Gorilita go visit the Arriagas. Adriana comes downstairs and wants to go along. Adriana will first make a phone call and will catch him up outside.

Roy comes in with a 'surprise news for his doll'. 'Tonight my parents are coming to dinner'. Nikki does not think it is the right time. Roy says Nil-Brains and Anyballs agreed. Surely my mom will tell Victoria. Nikki lowers head, not really up to such a 'get to know together among families'. 'you caught me on a curve' (LOL!! or is that translation for 'you threw me a curve ball'?) 'I don't feel up to organizing a dinner right about now...' 'All you have to do is ask JM to prepare it! we have to please our parents!'

Roy drops the other bomb. 'It is a very important dinner, the whole family has to be present. Because today i will ask for your hand in marriage. Today i will give you your engagement ring.' (engagement? I would say it is rather a death row sentence. For her heart, that is.) 'Kiss me.' Nikki gives him a flash and you missed it touch kiss on lips. But of course Roy is not good with that. Nikki is forced to kiss him, and this proves too much for He-man(after having had to watch the whole BS from RoyFoyToy and the forced kiss his beloved had to give), swallows hard and walks away completely heartbroken. Niki knows it and does not feel that good about it either. Roy smiles satisfied.

Vicky tells Tomasina that the Pavias are coming to dinner. They are coming for the 'ask of hand' and she can't turn them away. Tomasina says it will be your first sitting at the table with Nil-Brains since you split. Vicky wonders why Nil-Brains told Nikki that she had been unfaithful to him. Tomasina deduces that the video filled his head with garbage. Vicky does not think he showed it to Nikki, she would have said something. Vicky says better tell my dad the whole truth. Nikki knows that the next step is the divorce. Nikki comes to talk about the dinner. Vicky says it is arranged for 9pm. Nikki has many many doubts now that it has hit her home that she is getting married. Vicky repeats 'if you are not sure, don't get married.' Nikki thinks she is kidding. And begins a complete turn around (this almost seems bipolar disorder referring to the wedding) 'I am very happy! I have always wanted to get married!... with Roy!' Vicky and Tomasina have their doubts about Nikki's sincerity.

Nil-Brains in his office plans to unmask Vicky, she will have to appologize in front of everyone.

Vicky tells Tomasina that she is so sad, she can't stop thinking of JA, she would like to be with him to give him strength like he did to her when they lived through all her anguishing moments. Tomasina reminds her Opalina said Vicky should be with JA. Vicky tells her JA said that seeing her hurts. He put a wall between them, and she can't. Tomasina says the heck with that wall! Life goes on, and time heals everything. Just like you got over the story with Carlos and Adriana got over her story with Vicente, JA can get over his story with Cristina and start over with you. Vicky tells Tomasina that it is different, she and her sister got over a love story, but both Carlos and Vicente are alive. But JA is devastated for her death, he shared his whole life with Cristina.

Adriana and He-man are meeting with investigator. She is giving the man a summary of her facts about her daughter. The guy will begin trying to locate all the staff that worked at the clinic at the time her daughter was born. But you must know this could take years. Adriana is ok with it. He-man the gentleman pays the bill after she thanks him for coming.

Vicky is typing in her laptop... 'May live caress you, may destiny open its arms, may consolation take over, may God guide your steps...' (we see a devastated JA lying on his bed) 'let hope appear, let there be certainty in your mind that you can always count on me.'

Lilli comes in the room to check on JA. Lies embraced to him. He says it does him a lot of good to hold her like this. now more than ever we have to be together'. 'yes, Dad. you are all I have.' 'Don't say that. your other watches over us. And now you have your grandma closer than ever. You have a great future and i will take care of you.' (Cande comes in, tells Lilli that Bea's mother came to bring her the paper with the obituary that Kendrat had published. (the mention of KenDrat makes JA smirk a grunt). Lilli shows the paper to Cande. She reads it aloud 'Cristine, more than an employee, you were my friend. I will always remember you. Rest in peace.' Lilli thinks it is very moving that KenDrat did this. Quiet Cande also seems moved at the gesture. But this pops the lid on JA, who jumps up from bed, shouting out with a lot of stored up anger... 'You throw that paper away right now!! I don't believe anything that comes from that woman! Nothing!' At seeing JA so out of control, Cande asks Lilli to do as he says, but JA yanks the paper from Cande's hands and throws it out of the room, yelling at Lilli to throw it out. Once Lilli is gone, Cande tells JA'You should not treat her like that, your daughter is not to blame for anything.' JA, still a bit angry, tells Cande 'I don't trust that woman further than I could throw her. Thanks to that woman Cris and I began to have issues in our marriage. That is why my wife...' Cande leaves quietly as if not wanting to have an argument.

Out in living room Lilli prays to the virgin for her dad, he is suffering much, teach us to live without mom.'

Cande tells JA she listened to the message he left in the answering machine for Cris. So sweet things you told her. Thanks for loving her so much. JA says 'too bad she never heard it'. Cande says ' dont be so sad, she was very happy with you. She always told me. Her biggest joy was to have made a family with you. ' JA says it is still very hard to think she is no longer with him. (Cande faints, apparently exhausted, he helps her sit on the chair, all while they are holding each others arms) 'Look at me. you have to think of everything you did together, and not on the things you left unsaid.' He promises he will try. She repeats that life goes on. you have to go on.

Lilli still crying her loss... Cande comes out, still wabbling exhausted. Lilli asks for her dad. IS he less angry? yes, dear 'drop of honey' (awwwww... so sweet!). He is taking a bath. Cande gives Lilli a photo of Cris 'to sweeten your life'. It is the last photo she sent. Lilli says it is best gift she could have given her. All photos she had were burned in the fire. My pretty mamacita. Thanks Abue. (nice strong embrace). Lilli puts the photo right by the virgin stand on the wall. 'this will be your place, mama'. Cande cries moved. And door bell rings. It is He-man and Adriana. with a basket of fruit and what seems like chocolates or donuts. (something fell off the fruit basket, i hope it wasn't a juicy plum).

whoa! Cande freezes at seeing Adriana. Does she recognize her? Adriana also stares at Cande while hugging Lilli. He-man gives Cande the fruit and then Lilli introduces Adri and Cande. Cande skips a breath a bit shaken... manages to let out a 'how are you?' Adriana also thinks 'where do i know her from? where have I seen her?' Lilli introduces He-man to Cande. Cande recognizes him also as Betty's brother. Adri says when she learned He-man was coming, she asked to come along. She wanted to know how Lilli is, Lilli says we are so sad without my mamacita. Adri says 'sometimes life is very hurtful and takes away those we love most'. Another embrace between them.

At tennis courts in club, Roy tells Omar he can't forget about Lilliana. Omar says you have to, you are getting engaged tonight. Roy says 'I know that but even if for the last time, i want to see Lilliana'. what are you going to do? you will see. He calls Nikki on cell to tell her he might be late to the engagement dinner, but he is anxious to put the ring on her finger and for her to tell him she will be Roy Pavia's wife. (GRRRR!!! His friend Omar is also rolling his eyes in disapproval.)

Back to apartment (the only place that seems to mourn Cristina's death), Cande voices her appreciation for all the love they have showed her granddaughter. Adri says it is returned. Ever since we met, there is something special between us. Cande says 'good you get along so well'. And then seems to have had enough emotions for a day and excuses herself. He-man walks away to see JA, Adri and Lilli are left alone. Adri asks how she feels. A very big pain in the chest, can't even breathe. Adri shows a lot of understanding and encouragement, think of all the great moments you shared with your mother. A mother never abandons her children... never.

Roy calls Lilli. Did you rid of your 'virginity?' She tells him her mother died. He is a bit shaken by it and appologizes for the bad joke, i didn't know (wow! a small show of decency after all). She says dont worry and hangs up.

He-man and JA. what you have to do is go back to work and retake your life slowly. We all miss you. JA comments that the owner of that house hates him. Anyballs? No, Mr Briss. He-man says you are right, he never liked you but he is always like that, cocky and angry. There is no perfect job. Vicky has not got anyone to replace you. You and Lilli should go back there to work. JA says he will never go back to that damned house.

Cande visits Paula, wants to talk. Cande wants to know what she and Cris talked about before Cris died. Paula says, first of all, i grew fond of Cristina while we interacted. And because of that love i told her something you never told her. WHAT??!! (Cande grabs Paula's arm rudely) That she was daughter of Anyballs. (Cande almost faints) 'are you crazy, woman?? how can you tell Cris she is daughter of that man??' 'I only told her the truth you should have told her long ago'. 'where do you get that Anyballs is her father??' 'dont fake with me, you know it is true.' 'who told you??' 'that is irrelevant. what is important is Cris should have known her origin and i told her!! She died knowing she was a Balvanera!' 'You had no right to butt in my daughter's life!! and even less to tell her something so personal!! Look at the consequences!!' 'Cande, what happened to Cris is an unfortunate accident! But don't make me to blame for it, and if we are talking about blame, don't you think your silence and lies about Cris' father did her more harm? After all i told her a truth you hid from her all her life!!' ' Excuse me, but you have no right to an opinion over something you don't know about. I know learning the truth shook my daughter and then she was not careful crossing the street, so she died.' 'I know!! and that memory I will carry for the rest of my life!! Since Cris died, I have no peace. ' 'I am noone to judge you, that is for God. I will only tell you that telling her that secret harmed my Cris more than it did her good!. Paula... YOU KILLED HER!! ... YOU KILLED MY DAUGHTER!!'

Meanwhile, Anyballs holds the picture of Cande from his book... and remembers Cande's resentful words after Cris died, accusing him of knowing Cris was his child. 'what would have happened if you had told me when you got pregnant? Nothing. most probably i would have forced you to get rid of her.'

At apartment, Lilli holds her mother's picture, tells Adriana it is the only memory she has of her, to look at her mother, to have her always in her heart. Adri says the heart is the best place to hold the memories and everything you lived together.

He-man comes back and takes Adri out. Lilli thanks them for the visit. Adri offers herself if Lilli needs to talk or feels alone. Lilli thanks her, your visit did me a lot of good. Again thanks He-man. Lilli gives Adri some pills to put by the Lucia plant, so it will flower a lot in the spring. She will.

Cande comes back a bit shaken, but manages to thank them for their visit. Adri a bit concerned about Cande's behavior. When He-man and Adri leave, Lilli asks where she went. Cande says she went to see Paula. Then asks Lilli how was relationship between Cris and that woman. Lilli says Cris trusted her a lot, Paula was her only friend in the city, she always gave her things, even perfume. Cande asks what do you know about her? what does she do for a living? Is she married?

KenDrat is visiting Nikki, Nikki talks about barely knowing Cris but was very affected by her death. KenDrat not understanding so much concern for someone she barely knew. Tonight is your engagement party! Can you imagine your ring? Must be very expensive. Nikki says not really, those are frivolities. Want to talk about more deep subjects. Have you thought that someone's death makes us revisit our view of the world? Now I appreciate having a mom like the one I have. She is the best mom in the world. (Kendrat confirms, almost sounding jealous) Besides... all this tragedy has got me closer to He-man. I get a vibe with him. I feel identified with him. It is a great empathy! It is another level, captas? (KenDrat insists it is strategy of He-man in desperation of her getting married, you mean many millions to him, and he will fight for them). No, KenDrat. The other day i offered him a blank check so he would go away, and he ripped it in my face!! And that shook me good. (KenDrat insists, he is not after a few dollars, he is after the whole fortune!) Nikki says have kept him at distance, have behaved real nasty to him. But there are moments where he is so tender and intense that i feel like throwing everything out the window and bet/gamble all on him! (KenDrat yells 'you would be an idiot if you do that!!)

Previews:

Nil-Brains attacks during the dinner, He-man is tortured by Roy's proposing to Nikki and showing the ring, In the privacy of bedroom but out loud, Vicky yells at Nil-Brains 'I am fed up with living in hypocrisy!!!' / 'Why don't you tell everyone who is your lover??!!' (seems everyone including the Pavias and Nikki heard this) VO: The night of revenge!!

Marta:

Wonderful first half of the recap. You captured JA's grief so well. This epi too was so sad. I like how they are showing the Angel grieving, and not "getting over" Cristina's death so quickly. I have to give kudos to the writers for that. They wrote this very true to life. The Angel's unshaved face, his grieving on the bed, his packing of Christina's things, so very sad. Even the outburst about Kendho's obit that she published about Cris.

Poor Jean Marie. I feel bad for him. I remember when he was talking about surprise parties at the last minute, how much he hated to be cooking at the last second. He is so not going to like this. So FF and Anyballs planned this dinner, you would think they would have told Jean Marie first thing in the morning.

Nikki shouldn't get married y punto! I can't understand why she wants to go through with this. The bulimia must be effecting her brain. Not having the proper nutrition for a long time can do that. She is making very poor decisions just to get back at poor Guzmi. She needs to wake up smell the coffee, get better, and then decide if she really wants to go through with this wedding. She clearly doesn't love Roy.

FF wants an apology? What about his apology? Sure he "apologized" to Ms Vikki and kept on doing the Kendho. Ms Vikki really hasn't done anything and he wants an apology? She has told him over and over nothing happened. I don't like the avances for this apology. Looks more like a huge humiliation. Where is the cast iron skillet for this guy?

Looking forward to your part two!

Hey everyone! Marta so enjoyed your recap, You're capturing the details so amazingly. Thank you!

I've been having to catch up with the last three recaps. I was out of town since Thursday. I came back Sunday. Not to mention that it's almost the end of the semester which is my busiest of all.

Madelaine I wanted to say on the last recap your scene of Arriaga and Cristina actually gave me goosebumps, you did so well on the whole recap I didn't feel the need to watch the episode on hulu. Thanks hun. Oh and thanks for the shout out with Nikki being sweet :) :) :)

Madelaine- "I like how they are showing the Angel grieving, and not "getting over" Cristina's death so quickly. I have to give kudos to the writers for that. They wrote this very true to life."
I definitely agree, I would have been very unhappy if he only grieved on the funeral day and then ran to Victoria.

I really am struggling with this whole wedding thing, Please Nikki come to your senses, you're killing me. Pobre Guzmancito!

I'll wait to the second half to comment more.

Gringo- Thanks for asking about me. I'm fine! Let me say I was mighty surprised to see you talking so kindly about my pal Nikki lol. Hoping her late sweetness continues to shine through :)

Team Nikki/Guzmancito

Marta: Your conversation translations, lovely ebb and flow and perfect detailing elevated this sensational recap to another level.

You eloquently captured love amidst unbearable grief and sadness: "Vicky is typing in her laptop... 'May live caress you, may destiny open its arms, may consolation take over, may God guide your steps...' (we see a devastated JA lying on his bed) 'let hope appear, let there be certainty in your mind that you can always count on me.'" I can't tell you how much I appreciate your sharing those longing words with us.

Marta, Cande did give Adriana a strange look but she did see her at the funeral home. Maybe some long hidden memory is coming back?

When Nikki reveals her true feelings, she is a different person. The annoying child disappears, replaced by a caring, thoughtful, loving young woman. I cannot believe she will go through with the marriage. Please don't worry Victoria in Texas!

Roy's reaction to Lili's mother's death seemed genuine. A small sign that he is capable of caring...

Madelaine, I couldn't agree more that the writing here has been stellar. JA's grief and actions are what we have come to expect from the character. When Vicky called him, the conversation went just as I would envision. She needed to call him and while words failed her, emotion did not. He acknowledged her and that was that.

Vicky should start divorce proceedings now. His trying to show Nikki the tape was beyond despicable.

As well done as Cris' death and aftermath has been handled, could the writers please treat us with a small ray of happiness? A Santino/Bea kiss? A Balzac sighting? Something? Anything??

Diana

Marta:

Thanks so much for your marvelous part two of this recap.

I too was shocked by Roy the Roller Boy's genuine sentiment to Lili. Is a real man without all the pretensions lurking in there somewhere? I wish that side of him would show more often instead of the money grubbing user.

Anyballs what a conundrum. I can't stand him on the one hand, but on the other I kind of like him. I wish he hadn't thought bubbled about getting "rid" of Cande's bebe, his own daughter.

I want that flying anvil for Kendho. I wish Nikki wouldn't listen to her and for Nikki to listen to her heart instead. I am afraid for Nikki though. What if she bucks Kendho's mis planes? What would Kendho do?

That was a revelation when Cande and Adri were staring at each other and trying to remember where they knew each other from, even though they had met at the funeral. Hmmmm, lost memory coming back indeed! Diana, I so agree with you there.

And finally that confrontation with Cande and the Pau. That was something, I thought they might get into a slapping session there for a second. I think if Cande hadn't been so tired she might have slapped her. If Cande were more herself I think she would have figured out how the Pau knew that Cris was Anyballs' daughter. With Anyballs, its all about the women : )

Victoria:

Glad you are back and good luck with school. I know how hard it can be to go to school and have little ones : )

Diana,
i totally agree on your comments about 'when Nikki is her true self'.
When Cande saw Adri, maybe at the funeral Adri and Lilli were not together but it definitely shook Cande up to see them embrace and side by side. Does she know?

Ana Martin was stellar in that confrontation of Cande and Paula. Reminds me of her younger years. when she looked like the picture Anyballs was looking at. She has been a great actress all along, even at that young age. Definitely one of those actors that put their soul in every scene and every character.

And I agree with those who say it is more realistic that JA take his time to grief Cristina...

I am afraid they are setting us up for Lilliana bringing the best in Roy, sort of like Beatriz bringing the best in Dances... I hope not but have a feeling they might end up having Lilli and Roy together in the end... Can Roy be turned around the way Dances has been? I think... NOT.

Marta - Great recap. It didn't sink in how much ground was actually covered last night till I read all the detail in your recap. Muchas gracias. My favorite line: "But this pops the lid on JA..."

This cast is doing a great job. ITA on JA not moving on too quickly.

KendHo has a secret video camera in her apartment that has captured Nilson’s dumba$$ in action. Surely that will be revealed some day.

Anyballs admitting to himself that he would’ve made Candelaria get an abortion was so sad. He was so not worthy of Cande’s love.

I too want some Balzac.

Wonderful recap Marta. ITA with everyone that they have written and are playing the grieving scenes well and realistically. Great job by everyone.

I think that was a hand written letter Vicky was writing JA. I'm sure he'll appreciate it if she sends it to him.

Can't wait to find out what memories Cande and Adri have of each other.

Anibal is a bastard but at least he's honest with himself about how he would have reacted to Cande's pregnancy news. He probably would have done the same thing he did to Adri-- see it's all about him and what he wants. In the end I think it was good that she kept the secret and Cris grew up happily with her mom without the stigma of being Anibal's unwanted bastard.

Glad to see Roy has a human side. But I guess if Nicky can show her human side every now and then, so can Roy. :)

If Salsero is redeemable then Roy certainly is. Roy is marrying someone, who is willingly doing so, for money. Salsero had innocent people kidnapped and emotionally tortured for money. And that's just the recent stuff. He himself has spoken about his shady past that goes beyond that. Roy is only beginning a life of deceit. Salsero has a good 20 years of deceitfulness ahead of Roy the Boy.

OMG what is going on? now the 'suspicious devices' (not blown, thank God!) were found near a mall and day care center here in East Orlando area... (I live between Orlando and Winter Garden, west of Orlando). my prayers go to everyone, it does seem like our 'peace of mind' has been assaulted on.

Thanks, Marta. This is terrific.

Quite a confrontation between Cande and Paula. I thought Cande was going to reach out and try to rip off those lying red lips at one point ... um ... or maybe that was what I was going to do.

C: Who told you Cris was Aníbal's daughter? How do you know that?
P: "Eso es lo de menos" (That doesn't matter, that is the least important thing here)

But of course it DOES MATTER. Paula STOLE the secret when she and Gilda intercepted Cande's letter and wrote a fake letter back to her.

Still, as Carlos reminded us the other day: It was Kendra and Espanto who killed Cristina -- not Paula, not Arriaga, not Vikki.

Has Nikki finally realized that Kendra isn't the best source of advice? Let's hope so.

Bring on the Balzac!

Thinks Marta, very well done with good humor and sensitivity.

So Roy is sorry that Ratiana's mom died and for making a bad joke ("Did you rid of your 'virginity?"... would that be funny if Cristina hadn't died?) and now we're ready to approve him for Roxana? Ummm, OK, but I would think if he is not suitable for Nikki, then...

Yes, Diana and Niece let's see some Balzac (heh heh).

Remember what fun dinnertime was in MEPS? I'm looking forward to tonight's big dinner.

Paula has not been good but Paula did not kill Cristina. Cande was smug and self-righteous in telling off Paula. Still to come... her very own reckoning with Adriana and Luciana.

Carlos

Carlos... Luciana? do you miss Refugio? I do. bought the condensed dvds already but havent opened them

Carlos- I don't think Salsero is good enough for Bea either. But if the writers keep refusing to give us good men, we have to work with the scum we've been given. It would be lovely to have the abundance of good men we had in AB. Although even then there were some who even wanted to reform Omar!

I remember those MEPS meals fondly.:)

I love the idea of Vikki offering solace to Arriaga in the form of a hand-written letter.

If Rolando were to do the same for Roxana, my opinion of him would go up several notches -- nearly as high as his straight-up hair and his elevator sneakers.

Marta: Hope everything is all right there? Fear is one of terror's strongest weapons. Keeping all of you in my prayers.

Diana

Vivi: Please, don't be so shy!! Tell us how you REALLY feel: "I don't think Salsero is good enough for Bea either. But if the writers keep refusing to give us good men, we have to work with the scum we've been given". Excellent! In all seriousness, my reservation has always been that Salsero has caused so much pain to those he now loves and cares about, can he be forgiven? That is an essential part of redemption.

NovelaMaven: "my opinion of him would go up...as his straight-up hair and his elevator sneakers". Still chuckling.

Diana

Thank you Marta, your recap was fantastic.

NovelaMaven:
"nearly as high as his straight-up hair and his elevator sneakers"

LOL!

Lol! Diana- if I think too long about the stuff Salsero has done or let happen, then all kinds of bad names come to mind. Better to live in the fantasy world where he has magically become a good guy. Really the only prerequisite for becoming a good guy in this universe is to have the love of a good woman. That means both Anibal and Roy may be candidates for redemption.

I worry more about the post-Betty Salsero than the pre-Betty dude. It was chilling when he reflected the other day that it was too bad that Arriaga would end up paying for "los platos rotos".

He continues to shield Kendra. What are his options?

He goes to the police.
-If they believe him and if they have enough evidence, they arrest Kendra. She implicates the Dude. The Salsa Dude is toast. But honest toast.
-If they don't believe him, Kendra remains at large and probably puts a hit out on the Dude.

He goes to Aníbal. See above.

He kills Kendra. By saving the others, he loses his soul and any chance to be a good man for Betty.

Is there something I am missing?

NM- I would add to the of he doesn't say anything Kendra continues to be a danger to others and will likely kill again. One of these days Bea might be her victim.

If he does tell the cops all about Kendra, and tells Vicky, begging her forgiveness, she might work hard to help him get a lighter sentence. The longer he waits and the more crap Kendra does, the harder it will be to prove he wasn't an accomplice on this more heinous stuff.

NovelaMaven: Your points are well taken.

In my heart, I don't see Bea and Salsero living happily ever after. I would however like to see them live happily. At least for a while. Not for his sake, but for hers.

You've pointed out he can't unmask Kendra as it would be his undoing. Many of us have speculated he may forfeit his life to save Bea or someone else. Bea may be a princess, but Salsero is no Prince Charming.

Diana

Exactly, Vivi. Salsero is the only one who KNOWS that Kendra is a killer. He may not have been able to predict her attempt on Vikki's life (though he knew she was up to no good.) But AFTER that, he had a moral obligation to shut Kendra down. And he did nothing.

In a way, he IS responsible for Cristina's death because with his silence, he remains Kendra's accomplice.

That's why I see a Heroic Death for Salsero and a Tragic Fate for Betty -- not death, but loss and disillusionment. (Maybe that's what Opalina sees too and why she looks at Betty that way -- the way she used to look at Cristina.

NovelaMaven and Vivi:

There is another option for the Salsa Dude, although I wish he would come clean and face the music. The other option he has is to stop any further Mis Planes from the Kendho. He has the power and the resources to do it. This is what I really want him to do , so she doesn't kill anyone else. Maybe he will do this, maybe not, just my opinion.

"Many of us have speculated he may forfeit his life to save Bea or someone else. Bea may be a princess, but Salsero is no Prince Charming"

Yes, Diana. Well said.

*But he sure can dance. :)

Mads:

I hope you're right. I just can't imagine how Salsero can stop Kendra, short of killing her.

SuperMarta---Great recap, you captured/explained last night perfectly. Great detail, a beautiful-beautiful job so well done.

Carlos---you got the FF KendHo bubble bath scene to start off last night--LOL

Diana---When Nikki reveales her true feelings, she is a different person. The annoying child disappears, replaced by a caring, thoughtful, loving young woman---Beautifully stated. It sure is starting to look that way. I have noticed that her strong statments followed by OK!!! are almost nonexistent now.

Diana again---I don't think that there will be much happiness with a
Victoria Nelson meltdown tonight.

The look that Cande gave Adriana last night was riviting. Future revelations?

Victoria in Texas---I'm glad that you are back. I am not in the Nikki
camp yet but am starting to move in that direction. Will see what future episodes hold.

SuperMarta---Yes, I said that about
two weeks ago. I know that Carlos is right and that my batting average is low but I will stick with a Roller Boy Little Orchard pairing. Not that I want it but I felt it coming. I hope that Roy changes for the better.
the gringo

I suppose Salsero has learned to live with all the dirt he's done. But it seems to me for his own self-respect he needs to do something about the murder of an innocent women. If he does nothing, I agree with those who say his relationship with Betty is doomed.

SuperMarta--Wonderful, have to say, as always. You delivered us a plate of sizzling emotions for breakfast (and lunch).

Everybody's emotions were on edge, even Kendho. She's afraid she might lose control of Nikki. What I don't understand is why should she care who Nikki marries, her interest is getting her out of the Balvanera mansion. I don't think she knows that Roy & his family are going to be sucking up some of that fortune she's got her eye on.

I think you are right, Marta, it was Cande seeing Adri and Lili side by side and those tender, familiar embraces they gave each other that triggered some memory. It will be interesting to know if she will make the connection on her own. I'm sure Lili will at some point tell her about Adri's lost baby being born on the exact same day as she was. I don't think Lili knows they were both born in the Santa Rita hospital, though.

Cande going after Pau was top drawer--I think her anger at Pau covered a lot of guilt of her own. Pau was right that Cris had a right to know who her father was. (This is such a common situation in tns, no? We had that on AB with Natalia and her mother). It just wasn't Pau's place to do the telling.

JM is going to be on edge over the din-din, but that's nothing compared to what happens AT the din-din. I wonder if his meal will even get eaten...

Nikki is on edge realizing the wedding IS going to happen. I think she was just playing at being a bride when she was trying on wedding dresses. Her kisses with Guzman should have told her she's marrying the wrong guy--or marrying at all with her emotions in a turmoil. She's in such a quandry. Her mother says she doesn't have to go through with it and her father and grandfather saying that it's hight time she was getting married and settling down with a fine young man like Roy.

(Might I interject something about Roy and money right here--he was keen on reconnecting with Nikki for a good romp in the hay now that they are older, but he wasn't really interested in marriage. It's his parents that have been pushing him towards that because it is a solution to their financial problems and, dear to Roy's heart, can't pay for his tennis tournaments. He still had reservations about marriage, though he was wooing Nikki quite actively, even up to the time his parents offered him the ring for Nikki.)

Vikki was certainly on edge with her emotions. Turning on 'their' music and writing that letter to him, then overcome, makes that call. She wanted to feel close to him, but it certainly wasn't helping her to 'get over' him.

FF can't wait to wreak vengeance on Victoria. He's probably getting some jollies out of that. He can't believe his princesa would side with her mother, so he's upping the ante by making her humiliation public.

Madelaine--look in Housewares at Meta*Mart. The iron skillets come in all sizes. There are some extra heavy ones for thick heads. Better yet, check Hardware. They have anvils. You can have them engraved before using them.

Anita, La Dama del Queso

Anita:

I never looked at the Roy/Nikki situation as you did, but you really hit the nail on the head. Both Roy and Nikki are being pushed into marriage by the male
'rents and with Abue thrown in. The Moms are more hesitant. I think they should just rebel. Wouldn't really help Roy the Roller boy with his tennis, but I'm sure he could get some funding another way.

I am going right over to hardware at *Meta Mart* to order some individual engraved anvils for Kendho and the FF right now, with fake gold lettering 'natch : )

"I wonder if his meal will even get eaten..."

Anita, between the bulimia and the hysteria, it is very unlikely. Should be a good night for Balzac, though.

If he doesn't get her jailed or kill her, how else is Salsero going to stop Kendra? He had the opportunity to do that recently by allowing the background check Nelson ordered to tell the truth about her real origins. Nelson would have kicked her and her baby to the curb. Instead he WARNS her about what Nelson is planning and fakes a report. He blew a golden opportunity.

Marta - Thank you for this excellent recap. It was yet another painful, difficult episode.

Seeing JA pack up Cris's clothes did me in and I was boo-hooing again. (gah!) EY has done a great job acting this role, especially last week and last night's episode!

The conversation between Cande and Paula was very interesting; a dance of sorts. Paula lies about how she knows the truth re: Cris, to save her own skin *and* she never takes full 100% responsibility for her actions. Candelaria lied by never telling the truth to Cristina re: who her father is, nor is Cande going to tell JA and Liliana now, either. Cande's conscience (nor her side of the scorecard) isn't entirely clean, either.

"A mother never abandons her children... never." Eh, except Paula.

Forget skillets and anvils for Kendra. I'm hoping for a freight train.

"But if the writers keep refusing to give us good men, we have to work with the scum we've been given." Vivi, this is sidebar worthy.

Paula bears some moral responsibility for Cristina's death. Had Paula NOT told Cris who her father is, Cris wouldn't have run to Kendra and told her, thus giving Kendra motive to kill Cris. With some stretch of the imagination… had Cris not been an impactada walking zombie upon learning her parentage, she might have seen Espanto's truck gunning for her and jumped out of the way.

Nelson is really really a jerk, but he is not a criminal. I think that the best thing for Santino to do would be come clean to either Nelson or Aníbal about Kendra... problem solved.

Of course as I said yesterday... other opinions may vary.

Carlos

Bulimia and the hysteria...it's what's for dinner.

Vivi and NovelaMaven:

I really must stop drinking my afternoon cafecito when I read your comments. I am tired of changing my shirts ; )

Even if Roy becomes a better person (which I doubt), he's still not good enough for Lili. His materialism and egocentric selfishness is deeply embedded and he would only want to ever marry Lili if he knew beforehand that she's a Balvanera (the money thing). Otherwise, he'll just amuse himself with her for a while and then move on - or have multiple women at the same time.

Two things Salsero can do:
1) Now that he's working directly for Anibal, he can tell him it's Kendra who is Nelson's lover AND that she's pregnant and hoping to get her hands on the B fortune - but to not let anyone know where the info came from. Anibal can 'hire' a detective to investigate Nelson and magically come up with this info.
2) He can somehow maneuver a conversation with Kendra where he asks her, kiddingly, how loyal she thinks Espanto is and have her say that if he isn't, she'll find a way to permanently get rid of him. Then, let Espanto hear the recorded convo and plant seeds of doubt in him and Espanto will do her in! He can easily turn them against each other. Evil ones don't completely trust anyone.

Before the dinner, Vikki should sit Anibal, Adriana and Nikki down and explain how the video came about and that FF is raging because she won't go back with him and is blind to the fact that JA was close to her at all times as part of his job. The video put him over the edge and he's just being irrational now.

Kendra doesn't want Nikki with Guzman because she knows Guzman has no money and therefore Nikki would absolutely want her inheritance. On the other hand, Roy comes from a very moneyed (she thinks) family and once Nikki's gone with him, she (Nikki) won't care about the money. I wish Kendra would somehow overhear Roy on the phone talking to his father about the situation.

And if Roy is such a great tennis player, why isn't he up the wazoo with endorsements an sponsors?

Cande was involved in the baby switch. She knows Lili was not Cristina's daughter. I think the doctor (just my opinion) told her about the unwanted baby and she gave her to her daughter. Then I think she might have peeked in at the young mother out of curiosity and Adri opened her eyes and saw the nurse looking at her. Neither one knew about the other's connection to Anibal, but THAT's where they recognize each other from. Now Cande is petrified because not only does she know Lili is Anibal's granddaughter, she knows she belongs to Adriana and not Cristina! Karma is a bruja with a 'b'.

Carlos: When I read your comment, I thought yes! Santino going to Anibal. Of anyone in a position of power, Anibal would be the best option. Anibal is more worldly and more adept at hiding his many indiscretions and may initially understand some of Santino's crimes more than most.

If Santino suggests to Anibal that he suspects Kendra of ordering Cris killed, he would need to insist Anibal pursue the lead quietly and keep Santino out of it.

If the plan goes awry and somehow Anibal learned Santino was involved in Nikki's kidnapping, I doubt there would be any mercy from Anibal and this would likely signal the end of Santino.

The more we discuss this, the bleaker Santino's future appears.

Diana

Diana- Yeah. Anibal would NEVER forgive Salsero's involvement in the kidnapping of his beloved nieta, nor his involvement in and keeping quiet about his beloved hija Vicky nearly being kidnapped and killed. And if he finds out Salsero was part of his newly discovered nieta nearly being burned to a crisp (even as an accessory after the fact), I'm not so sure Anibal will be so understanding with Salsero. He is blameless (mostly) for Cris's death, but too many of Anibal's women-folk have been affected by Salsero's criminal plans, or his silence about Kendra's criminal plans.

Nelson won't forgive Salsero betraying HIM. This will be a bigger issue than what was done to his daughter. Salsero is supposed to be his trusted right hand man, and all this time he's been playing him for a fool. Nelson's pride will be too hurt to show any mercy.

Nope. Salsero's best bet for mercy is Vicky.

Whether any of the Balvaneras take mercy on Salsero or not --

--As long as Kendra is alive and able to speak, she won't go down without taking everyone else with her. She is vindictive and shows no loyalty to anyone.

If Kendra falls, the house of cards falls with her.

As Diana said above:
"The more we discuss this, the bleaker Santino's future appears."

I agree, Santino has gone as far as he can with reivindication, and he might sacrifice for the life of Bea, Guillo or someone more 'worthy' than he considers himself... but i agree that he will go one way or another, Kendra won't let him off the hook, and if she does, somehow the truth will get to Anyballs or Nil-Brains-Full-of-pride and it will be the end of the dance.

I think I know why Roy doesn't have any mega endorsement deals - from the looks of him he hasn't hit the tennis courts or the gym seriously in some time. Just saying'. His mother Doris seems to be a nice sort so that he would actually show some sensitivity would be natural. Do we know how the Pavia's lost their money?

Marta, thanks as always wonderful recap.
Roy ending up with Little Orchid, I wouldn't like it for her too. If he is only marrying Nikki for the money thing, then the same is true if Ratiana ends up with him. Her Being a Balvanera so how can I trust him being transformed by true love. He would still be the materialistic, egoistic individual that he is.
My poor Guzmi, my heart breaks in little pieces for him. Can't wait for him to find out who is the cause of all his miseries.
I am confused about the Cande/Adriana thing. Does Cande know something about the switch and about Adriana's identity during that time of the switch? Did Cande do the switch upon Anyballs instruction or did she switch it for her daughter (whose child was stillborn?)

Vida- We don't yet know the details of how the switch went down, but Cande did not do it on Anibal's orders, since he had not seen her since she left him many years before. And it's a pretty sure bet she did not know the real mother of the baby was a Balvanera. I bet Anibal had her in the clinic under a false name. All the details of the switch are yet to be revealed.
