Amores Verdaderos #100 Tue 4/2/13 Hissy Fits for Everyone

Amores Verdaderos, 4/2/13, Cap 100—Hissy Fits for Everyone

A brief recap plus screencaps for your edification. First, a preview screencap:

Jean Marie and Polita pray to the Virgencita on behalf of Victoria.

EVENTS MAY NOT BE LISTED IN ORDER:

* We are treated with a scene with Chris's mom, Candalaria, who is being urged by her priest to visit her family already. Don't let the guilt and shadows of the past keep her away. She agrees to do so. We know that something will come of this, don't we?

Candy will go see her family, after many years of avoidance and guilt.

* Thomasina returns to work without ever knowing that her would-be galán was a bad guy. As she's approaching the service entrance, she discovers a fallen Victoria, has a hissy-fit, which fortunately includes her asking for an ambulance right away. (I give credit that the characters in this show did think to do that before too long—it's not typical for TNs!)

Thomasina is given earphones to listen to, so she's oblivious when Vicki comes out (with her  ransom loot in hand).

Vicki falls to the ground, unconscious, after being shot.

* Victoria is shot by "El Taliban" (who I recognize as a farmer from Soy Tú Dueña) and takes off as the other guy (who has been charming Thomasina) looks on, outraged.

* The household goest into panic and chaos when the news of Vicki's shooting gradually circulates.

Nikki responding to the news that Vicki has been shot.

* Big Angel finds out that Victoria has been shot (he is erroneously told that she was killed) when Thomasina calls him while he's at home. He has such a huge hissy fit (full of screaming and "No puede sers!") in front of Christina and Lilly that Christina can't help but wonder if Big Angel is in love with Victoria. As Christina tells Paula later, she's not jealous, just scared.

Big Angel has a mother of a hissy-fit, as his family looks on, concerned and alarmed.

She sees the writing on the wall for her marriage.

* Still unaware of Vicki's shooting, our Little Gorilla is at the hospital to see Gambling Guzman Dad, Felipe, who has been beat up/injured/whatever. Gambling Guzman Dad claims he tripped over a shoelace. (Do we believe him? Hmmm...) Guzmancito warns his dad to not get too hopeful about reconciling with mom, aka Paula. Guzman then hears of Vicki's shooting and runs off to get to Nikki.

Gambling Guzman Dad has sustained more injuries . . .

* Everyone cries and is afraid for Victoria as she is taken into surgery. Some edge-of-your-seat theatrics as Victoria's blood pressure drops and they have to do chest compressions on the surgery table before she finally responds!

Will she make it or not? Viewerville is on the edge of their seats!

Big Angel, as well as almost every other sympathetic character in this TN, prays for Vicki's  full recovery.

* The Furry Fornicator visits Kendra-the-Ho and proceeds to have a spat with her about her bun in the oven. Their fight is cut off when the FF gets a call about Victoria's shooting. He's distressed by the news of Victoria's attack—Salsa-Dude asks him if he is actually concerned about Victoria's wellbeing? "Of course!" FF snaps back, "She hasn't made her will yet and there's still a prenup!" You're all heart, Furry Fornicator. Salsa-Dude thinks so too, judging from his raised eyebrow.

You're all heart, dude, you're all heart.

* Meanwhile, the Kendra-Ho wishes for Victoria's death. Oh if she only knew how financially unfruitful such a thing would be for her at the moment!

MEGA BRUJA

* Kendra-Ho is visited by her henchman (whose name I always forget, but he was also the scorpion guy in Trinfo del amor). He wants his loot, dammit! He's violently threatening her. Not that we feel sorry for her, of course. She will have to work something out to appease him . . .

Threats for the slut.

* The Furry Fornicator blames everyone for Victoria's attack. He tries to fire Big Angel and they have a tussle in the hospital waiting room. Big Angel is not inclined to take this BS.

Nikki is the one who has to split up the fight between Nelson the Furry Fornicator and Big Angel. Who needs this BS right now?

* Nikki is beside herself with distress and grief, crying her eyes out in the hospital waiting room. Roy the Boy is not Mr. Sensitivity—he's got to go eat something, don't you know! He leaves her alone in her distress. Fortunately the Little Gorilla comes along and is very willing to give her a strong shoulder to cry on.

A comforting hug from the Little Gorilla is a thousand times better than anything that wimp Roy the Boy can offer!

* There's an amusing scene where Thomasina is having to give a statement to the police, including describing her would-be galán to a police artist. She has stars in her eyes as she "corrects" the rather accurate drawing of the galán/bad guy, comparing his looks to both Brad Pitt and Dustin Hoffman. The police exchange dubious looks.

* No one will tell Anibal what's going on, for fear that he'll drop of a heart attack. So naturally, Odioette comes by to do the honors. Predictably Anibal starts clutching his chest at the news. Odioette waves a nitro pill in front of his face, taunting him as he tries to grab for it. Bruja x 100! He finally wrests the pill from her and takes it, thus calming down his chest pain.

We get some good chest-clutching action here.

* Kendra-Ho doesn't miss a beat; she gets the loot from El Taliban (which she plans on splitting with the other bad guy whose name I can't recall right now) but orders El Taliban to "finish off" Victoria. Taliban agrees. We end the episode with sirens blaring as police cars approach the place where Kendra-Ho is meeting up with El Taliban. Taliban is able to escape but it doesn't look like Kendra-Ho will be able to make a clean getaway. What will happen tomorrow?!?! MUST SEE TV!!

Meeting up to split the loot.

Fantastic Elvira! You really don't have to flesh it out much more because so much of the episode was wailing and gnashing of teeth, by people who are TERRIBLE at communicating any useful info!

How many times was someone on the phone with someone and took 10 minutes just to spit out that Vicky had been shot (not dead yet) and in surgery? Jeez!

Glad to see Roy was looking out for number one (himself) and went to get something to eat. For a while there I thought I would have to give him some props for being caring and supportive of Nikki through her ordeal. Then he showed his true colors again. Thanks for not disappointing me Roy.

I hope Zombrano doesn’t get fired.

OK, this is like the umpteenth time Nikki has had a dramatic moment when she realizes how much Vicky means to her. How long until she picks another fight with Vicky and calls her a horrible mother?

Elvira:

So agree with Vivi, this recap is awesome and she's right, there was an over abundance of nashing of teeth. Poor Angel. I feel bad for him but at the same time I feel really bad for Cris. I think she now realizes the truth, without the jealousy fit. I feel really bad for her.

FF needs to go to Hades, tout de suite. Glad there is a prenup and I just knew that Anyballs would not be giving him any money. Good deal with the prenup and I'm hoping there isn't a will favoring the FF. He can't fire Angel either. The only ones that can do that are Anyballs or Ms Vikki herself. I too hope Zambrano doesn't get fired. He only did what Ms Vikki told him to do.

Elvira: The other bad guy's name is Espanto. He was the one that kidnapped Nikki and the Kendho. He is her personal henchie. He just has a wig on right now so he is truly unrecognizable.

I had to laugh when Tomi was at the delegacion and giving a description of the guy she was with, Brad Pitt and Dustin Hoffman came up, lol.

Loved the prayers of Jean Marie, Polita, Lily and the Angel for Ms Vikki. It was very realistic, all the tears and not over the top.

I hope Kendho gets caught by the police. Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow at the junk yard.

Oh, and I was feeling sorry for Anyballs having to get the news from the Odious one. He has a lot more strength than I thought with wrestling that pill out of her hand. She is as bad as Kendho.

Elvira, I agree with Vivi and Mads -- you totally nailed it! Short and sweet and plenty of snark. Excellent.

So are we thinking that Kendra is going to have a miscarriage after being tossed onto the hood of the car?

Are the bad guys going to get caught? Just like that? No puede ser!

Elvira - Great recap and I wouldn't need any more. Between my FFWD-> and Mute buttons, I zipped thru this episode.

Was it my imagination, or did the proverbial neck collar Vikki was wearing, as they hoisted her into the ambulance, have blood on it? Why? EEeeew!

NO surprise that all the empleados were praying for Vikki. Can you imagine their fear of having Nelson as their main boss with no buffer? Or worse yet, Kendra as mistress of the manor.... but they have no idea about that. Keep praying!!!

That was a gorgeous dress and color Vikki was wearing when she got shot. What a shame it's ruined by a bullet hole.

Loved your recap, Elvira!

Well, no wonder our dog, Balzac, has been missing...he's in the earlier TN...Porque El Amor Manda!

I often snooze while watching so I thought maybe I had just missed him, ha, ha.

Novelera in AZ

Alas Novelera, the dog in PEAM is a larger bulldog; while the MIA Balzac is a little pug, perfect for cradling like a baby. I wish he had made an appearance last night because then it would have meant that the main doggies on the 3 tns I watch would have all been present on the same night. But MIA Balzac made it 2 out of 3. Balzac would have also served to lighten the mood of this heavy episode.

Thanks everyone! My video capture has finished, but I'm too lazy right now to flesh out the recap. Probably in the early afternoon!

This is my understanding of the money situation:

Nelson and Victoria are married por bienes separados. Possessions are not owned jointly. Each person continues to own whatever he or she brought into the marriage. That means that whatever happens -- death or divorce -- Nelson has no claim on Vikki's personal wealth.

Of course a person could include their spouse in a will. But Nelson tells Salsero that Vikki has no will.

Bottom line: if Miss Vikki dies now, Nelson is out of luck. No wonder he's kicking the various dogs in the hospital. [Thank goodness Balzac is safe in the servant's quarters, chewing obliviously on Jean Marie's Italian loafers.]

Doris:
It wasn't your imagination -- the cervical collar did have blood on it. Who knows why? I was just happy that they bothered to stabilize her neck. [You know, instead of having one of our heroes gather her up in his manly arms, neck support be damned.]

Thanks much for the recap, Elvira! It looks complete to me!

I was SO hoping FF would go crying to Kendra that "Vicki just CAN'T die!" because then he would completely lose out financially. He cried about it to Salsero instead.

I'm just dying to see the look on Kendra's face when she finds out that if Vicki dies, FF will be left with nothing (well, 'cept his 20% of the company). Stupid bruja for attempting murder before making sure of inheritance!

But she may be having to deal with the police for a while instead. And what kept Taliban from just grabbing the jewels from Kendra and taking off? She didn't look armed.

The scene with Odette and Anyballs - so overacted. At first I thought Anyballs was pretending to play a joke on Odette - but it was supposedly the "real thing". Hmmmmm.

In case people need the clarification:

Bienes separados - there is no community property. A couple keeps their financial assets separate after marriage. To keep the TN fortune hunters at bay, of course.

Bienes mancomunados - financial assets are owned jointly upon marriage, and each spouse instantly becomes half-owner of the other's assets. This attracts TN fortunue hunters, of course, because they become instantly rich upon this kind of marriage to a wealthy person and think they can just turn around and divorce them after a short time and walk away with half the assets. Of course any intelligent wealthy person (or more likely their family) will make arrangements to avoid this form of "robbery".

Neither case is like the US. In the US, in community property states, the community property only applies to property acquired/money earned after the marriage. Inheritances are not community property even if the person is married when they inherit. Nor is property/assets owned before the marriage. A spouse must make an effort to keep from commingling their assets in order to maintain the separation (not move money into joint accounts, leave property deeds in their own name, etc.). Not all states are community property states either.

Great way for a recap, because I agree with Vivi- "You really don't have to flesh it out much more because so much of the episode was wailing and gnashing of teeth, by people who are TERRIBLE at communicating any useful info!"

Vivi- " Then he showed his true colors again. Thanks for not disappointing me Roy." I lol'd on this one.

Madelaine- "It was very realistic, all the tears and not over the top." Definitely agree!

I'm looking at this as a chance for Guzmancito to redeem himself with Nikki. I hope it follows through the way I'm hoping for.

Team Nikki/Guzmancito

NovelaMaven and Audrey:

You are both so right about the inheritance issues. FF would be left with nothing. He is a douchbag as Elvira says. Roy is the same.

Victoria:

I so agree with you about Nikki/Guzmi this would be the time for them to stop the games and get real, but will they?

Now that Cris suspects that Angel is in love with Ms Vikki, what will Cris do when she finds out that Ms Vikki isn't dead? I wonder what she will do then?

Elvira--I'm joining the chorus of bravas. This was as complete a recap as we'll need. Hissy-fits abound.

And telling Anyballs about Vik ... "Odette comes by to do the honors" ... and keeps hoping he'll die. Does anyone in that house screen visitors????

NovelaM--Thanks for the explanation on the bienes separados. That's what I heard, too and didn't understand how that worked. Now I know that Vikki doesn't have a will.

FF is desperate First: to get his hands on the money, Second: hands off Vikki, Third: his hands on KenHo, and Fourth: no hands on Nikki (Anyballs will be taking care of her and Roy). What a creep. He'd better be careful, Salsero knows tooooo much.

NovelaM--It's No puede ser Beanie time for me, too....how did the police know which junk yard the baddies are dividing up the loot in? No one except Espanto and Vikki saw the motorcycle take off and Vikki's not talking. Tomasina recognizes that her swain may have had something to do with this, but isn't ready to admit it--her description is only making it more difficult to get a lead (but funny).

It looked as though Vikki really did clean out her jewelry drawer. That was a lot of stuff. Didn't Henchman #2 pocket something, or was that Espanto or KenHo--I wasn't looking closely.

doris--I had to laugh at the *lack* of blood, although Vikki's hands were a little red when they started to roll her over. Yes, you saw blood on the neck brace (a long way from the wound--and thank you Carlos, for the great detail on possible entrail damage). IMO, the wardrobe dept. didn't want any stains on the dress, but chocolate syrup washes off plastic easily.

For all the standing around and wringing of hands and wailing, I was touched to see that Nikki did go to Guzmi for comfort. I know Big A wants to be with Vikki. What a dust-up, right there in the hospital waiting room (funny, too).

Poor Cris--if we didn't know better, we'd wonder where she got the idea that he'd fallen in love with his patrona. He wasn't with her, guarding her, he feels responsible, they had a close working relationship, they got along as 'friends.' Why shouldn't he be distraught at the thought she had been killed in an assassination attempt.

Being distraught over Vikki's "death" is one thing, but JA went beyond that. If my husband acted like that, I would have freaked out and wondered, too.

I, too, wondered how the police found Kendra & Co., so quickly ... at the junkyard of all places. Telenovela beanie hat time.
And I was surprised the guy let Kendra keep all that loot. I really thought he was going to arm-wrestle her for it.

The collar might get some blood on it if the EMT trying to stop the blood from her wound were to touch it with his bloody hand/glove as he raised it to put it on her.

JA's reaction was ridiculously over the top, especially in front of his wife and daughter. If I was celebrating my daughter's birthday dinner and received this type of news I would excuse myself and say something just happened and I have to leave, but will be right back. THEN scream and cry and wring my hands "oh, no! NOT HER!!" in the elevator or anywhere away from where I could ruin the day for my child!

But I loved how JA stared down Nelson after his ineffectual "attack" on the Angel at the hospital. You could see the fear in the coward's eyes.

Gracias, Elvira!

If I thought FF cared about Vicky at all, I would have found his reaction understandable because of the shock and trauma. Since I know he only wants the money, though, I can just think he was being a jerk. He didn't even bother to find out who was guarding Vicky at the time, and he didn't care when he was told that she slipped out and ditched Zambrano. These bodyguards are not babysitters or jailers or zookeepers. Vicky is supposed to be cooperating with her own guarding. She isn't supposed to leave the estate without her guard, but that means she is supposed to tell him when she is leaving. It isn't his responsibility to watch her like a child and make sure she doesn't sneak away.

Kendho did give her henchie a couple of the jewels. Maybe he figured he could steal the rest from her later and pin it on someone else. She's such a moron. Meeting in the junkyard...yeah, that isn't suspicious at all. The Taliban formerly known as rIcky hasn't changed at all.

I also liked it when Nikki pushed the FF off the Angel and told him to get a grip. That was too funny and she actually pushed him backward. I wish he had landed on his butt right in the middle of that ER waiting room : )

Elvira---You hit it short and to the point--no more is needed. Good job and right on target.

Poor Christina---she has to know now with JA's big heart felt reaction to the news about Victoria
where the big Angel's love really is. And all this had to happen on sweet Little Orchard's birthday.

I didn't see Roller Boy Roy give Nikki any I'm sorry and I share your hurt hugs last night, but---Guzmancito did.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito [Victoria]---
I don't think you will have long to wait.

Eiza Gonzalez is on the cover of the "Edecion De Colleccion TV y Novelas" which is out now. Eiza looks stunning in pages 62 and 63.
Eduardo Yanez is on three pages and sorry people, Nelson Brizz is in ther also on page 94 but you can choose not to look at him or maybe even better, tear that page out.
the gringo

Yeah, Nikki defending the guaruros was great. But how long will this bout of good behavior last? I wish she would get over her childish desire to keep her parents together. She's old enough to see how bad that is for her mom.

Thank you for the stellar short recap, Elvira! That screencap of Jean Marie and Polita is so heartwarming.

Pobre Cris, her marriage is shattering in front of her eyes. While I'm Team A&V, I wouldn't want to be in Cristina's shoes.

From yesterday -
NovelaMaven: your bullet-proof Spanx comment was hilarious!

Thanks Elvira. Great job.

I really enjoyed Odette's enthusiasm over being able to break the news to Aníbal and then taunt him with his medication. Didn't she even offer him a ride to the hospital? She is so cute that it's really difficult to take her seriously.

I wasn't paying close attention last night but on the way to the hospital didn't Salsero observe that Nelson seemed very affected by what had happened to Vikki and Nelson explained that yes because if she died now he would end up with nothing? Yikes! I was expecting him to say that in spite of everything that happened he still loved her very much... he may very well be irredeemable.

I think my favorite scene was Tomi describing the water rabbit for the police.

Carlos

Elvira - terrific recap. You hit all the high notes. My favorite line: "No one will tell Anibal what's going on, for fear that he'll drop of a heart attack. So naturally, Odioette comes by to do the honors..."

Tomasina must've forgotten she supposed to be the smartest person in this TN. That police sketch was great; the nose was a dead giveaway - Tomasina should've seen that. Doesn't seem like Espanto will be calling her for a second date.

So I guess Espanto tipped the police off to the junkyard payoff location?

Doesn't Kendra compute that making enemies of hardened criminals is not a good idea?

Audrey--I think you just might be right. He took off first. Does he have a cell phone???

Thank you again everyone! I really appreciate your supportive comments. I also want to thank the recappers for the last several days; I am behind in reading the recaps but have started to catch up. You're all awesome!

I've added some more screencaps and fleshed out the recap a little, so check out the recap again to see the new screencaps at least! :)

Thanks Madelaine, for reminding me that the henchman's name is Espanto! I can't keep that name in my head when I'm writing the recap! LOL. Yeah, he was the one that burned down Big Angel's beautiful little country casa too. (I really loved that house.) He's not as evil as Kendra at least, because he wasn't in on Vicki's murder attempt. But I doubt that Espanto is redeemable the way that our Salsa-Dude is.

I'm dying to know how tonight's episode will go. Must see TV indeed!

Elvira, here I thought there couldn't be much more to add to the recap. Mega super extra credit for the added wit and superbly megacool photos and hilarious captions. Do you have a job doing captions for some publishing outfit? You should.

You really outdid yourself Elvira. Thanks for giving us even more than your first fabulous draft. Excellent choice of pics too.

Wow, Elvira, I just now checked your updated recap...Marvelous. The photos are again perfectly selected.

It'll be interesting to learn the extent of damage done to Vikki by that gunshot. The surgeon was mumbling about dissection but generally there is not a lot of dissection with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. It's mostly resection, repair, and establishing hemostasis.

Carlos

Elvira the updated recap looks amazing. The pictures you chose alone speak a thousand words. Thank you!

Team Nikki/Guzmancito

Thanks, Elvira, for the updates.

I see they are running short of blood so if anyone is playing bingo you will be able to fill in the transfusion spot. I wonder whose assumed relationship will be in question.

Elvira:

Wonderful, priceless recap and I agree with Victoria, you always pick the best pics for your screencaps : )

Thanks so much for this marvelous recap. I miss Candelaria and hope she comes to the DF soon. That should wake up ole Anyballs. But WWPD= What will Paula do, lol.
