I thought that Aníbal was very convincing last night. He was as surprised as the rest of us over the box of rocks.

Madelaine, thanks so much for a terrific recap!

So much happened last night, but the highlights (lowlights?) for me were Anibal's talk with Cande and Kendra's confession.

I've wondered for a while now why there was no infant body in that little casket. Supposedly a baby died at birth, so why not bury it in the casket? Where's the body? Did the doc put rocks in there? Or did Anibal put the rocks in the casket because he didn't have the body? Wouldn't Cande have wanted her grandchild buried? Cande as a nurse would have been thinking about this and that's probably why she doesn't believe Anibal.

I can hardly wait to hear what Kendra's Plan C is now that she's admitted that FF is the father. And didn't FF look like his head was going to explode right there in the entryway?

Carlos - I may have to join the Odette table because, like you, I think the odious one will come to her senses, change her will again, buy another pair of Laboutons (?sp) and be the proud and open-minded mother we all know she could be.

Madelaine - Muchas gracias for a great recap. Loved your rant on KendaHo's supposed bible reading.

Yay, the truth is out! Can't wait to see KendaHo tossed out on her a$$. I'm actually glad KendaHo first told that rape lie featuring herself as Nikki's protector, so now Miss Vickie can see KendaHo is no ordinary adulterer and backstabber, but a vile calculator.

KendaHo promised herself she'd get some mileage out Estefano being gay. I wonder if she had anything to do with the envelope Odette ripped up on her bed. With Estefano out of the will, who would be in? Odette hates everyone and has no friends.

Cande didn't seem to buy Anibal's story. I'm thinking she knows she needs to tell the truth like now, not later. Plus when you're on Anibal's side on a moral issue, you know you're in the wrong place. Anibal's line about blood being thicker than water is crock. Lili is and will continue to be connected to JA no matter what.

Has Nelson ever straight out told Kendra that he will NEVER divorce Vikki? or has he only made noises to keep her off is back? I think he's sort of afraid of Kendra.

I've always wondered about those rocks in the baby coffin, too!

Even having not seem the episode, I don't believe Anibal's story about being lied to by the Doc and not knowing about the rocks. Otherwise, why would he have paid the doctor oof all these years and then paid him to leave the country? And now it seems that he knows the nurse's name. What do you want to bet that his next move is to find her, before Adri's detective does, and pay her off to leave the country too?
 

Anibal and the Bad Doc put rocks in the coffin because they did not know there was a conveniently dead baby (Cris's baby) in the hospital. And even if they did know there was a convenient baby body, Cande sure as heck wouldn't have let someone take her grandbaby's body away for no apparent reason. I'm sure she made sure that baby had a propper burial somewhere.
 

Vivi - agree about Cande and the burial, but wouldn't Cande have left/put a message about the baby's whereabouts in that letter for Angel? For me there is still something strange about the box of rocks....

Thanks for the recap Madeleine.

I don't get why Nikki gets a break for sleeping with Guzman while her husband was in the same (area). He was in the house and she was getting busy in the barn. Nelson slept with Kendra in the office. This is an unpopular opionion, but to me father and daughter are the same. I get the whole "in love" thing, but she had her chance BEFORE she got married. The reason Roy is hated is we have the whole story. If you heard that a chick was caught boinking another man by her groom on her wedding night and that's ALL you knew, I think you would have a different opionion of the bride. I'm rambling. But I can't get on the Nikki bandwagon because AFTER she (omg, it is sooooo hard not to say words that are not offensive)boinked Guzman (knowing that he loves her) she plays a leaves him in the middle of the night. Then she plays a "mindgame" with him by calling him and telling him how much she misses him. I have the whole story...but I try to think (narrow) from a character's point of view. I hope I'm making sense. That's why I will continue to portray Nookie in the way that I do.
 

Barbara, I can't get into that Estefano first. I agree that he can come out and be out any way that he wants; however, I think that he should have told his mother in private first. She was going to react that way anyway, but she was expecting a noviA and grandchilden all week. Then he did it in front of her sworn enemy. I would have felt like my son was against me too...then again...I am paranoid.
 

Barbara, what a treat it would be to have you join me here at the Odette table... please pull up a chair, I'll fix you a Cognac with a dash of bitters or pour some quinine water over ice if you prefer, and then lets discuss that box of rocks that you're suspicious about.

So Vivi, somehow I suspected that you wouldn't take Aníbal at his word. When you watch the episode you'll see how sincere he seemed to be. Unfortunately, I don't think that Cande was buying all that he was selling, but I do think that she still is in love with him.

Cynderella, I pretty much said the same thing you did about Nikki right after her rut with Guzmán (fresh out of her wedding dress for goodness sakes) and it was not well-received by some here at the time. I do continue adoring her because she is so gosh-darned cute. Think back to your thoughts on Gabino (AdP) and perhaps you can understand.

We were all heading to the porcelain throne after watching the Ho tell Vikki that she finds great comfort in the Holy Scriptures. She must be reading the part about the woman caught red handed committing adultery.

Hey, let's get clear that Odio-dette is an alien life form of "mother." (You know, the kind that eats its young.) It wouldn't matter how Estafano handled the coming out, she would have had a cow and gone nuts and spewed venom everywhere.

Wow, I can't wait for the slap-fest on Monday night when Vikki hits the crap out of the Ho. I may wear out the rewind button on my DVR.
 

Loved your recap Madeline, thank you for portraying my outrage with Kendho holding a bible. She gets more disgusting each episode, I hope she gets hit with multiple anvils when this TN is over!

I'm so glad the truth is out! Although a bit disappointed it took the whole episode and now we have to wait till Monday for the aftermath, LOL Dona G, I wish I had a DVR to do the same!

Question, why did Anyballs say he cancelled the ADN test? I missed that part, I don't understand why he would do that.

Lily - My guess is Anibal didn't really cancel the ADN test, but just said it to Cande so she'd have warm fuzzy feelings toward him, since he's on a mission to gain her trust and keep her mouth shut.
 

OK. Just watched. I believe Anibal even LESS than I did before I watched him lie to Cande. ;-)

That ending was great! Nelson really shouldn't have ticked off Kendra like that by telling her he never intends to divorce Vicky. She had absolutely no reason not to thrown him under the bus. The question is, how will she seduce/force him back to her?


 

Right on Niecie. I also believe he lied about cancelling the DNA test. He was trying to show Cande that he trusts her...so she should in turn trust him.

I am in the dark on this -
I thought we didn't know for sure if Kendra is even pregnant. She wouldn't do DNA, and she had the fake doctor.

Cynderella, you don't sound paranoid to me, and I agree with you about the whole coming out scene. Odette was a little hateful and pushed one too many of Estafano's buttons, and he literally stood up for himself and his lover. However, her scenes never fail to entertain, and, in her defense, she was probably a lovely woman until she met Anibal.

Nikki doesn't get a pass from me either. She's cute, but I'm not a fan. Guzman's obsession with her has been a mystery to me for some time now.

Carlos - make mine a double please. I hope the seating provides a good vantage point for the Monday night slap fest.

Wow - couldn't believe the whopper Anyballs made up to tell Cande. Yeah, right, the Dr. made up a dying baby story then gave it away. Bleeeech!

I don't give Niki a pass either. She's so totally messed up, nothing she does makes sense to me anyway, so my reactions to her behavior are muted.I don't begin to imagine what the heck she thinks she's doing right now. Why exactly did she marry Roy? And why does she think she has to stay married to Roy and put up with his crap? For appearances? Juárever! Totally malfunctioning CPU, neta?

I'm still cheering for Nikki. I don't approve of her actions, and I don't really get why Guzmi is so smitten with her. However, I don't like her for her fine upstanding character; I like her because she is funny and witty and audacious. She definitely has some of her father in her, but I think she also has enough of her mother to keep her from sliding entirely to the dark side.

Did Kendra finally decide she had lost at her game and just decide to indulge her natural desire to hurt as many people as much as possible, or is she maybe hoping that someone in the family will pay her off to go away and keep quiet about Nil's illegitimate child?
 

Victoria, let's put that another way. I am not wrong. I have a different opinion.

1. Nikki is married. Nelson is married. Everyone can agree on that. We were all watching the same TN.

2. Nikki slept with someone who is not her spouse while married. Nelson slept with someone who is not his spouse while married. We can all agree on that because we are all watching the same TN.

3. Nikki had sex with someone who is not her spouse while her spouse was nearby. Her spouse was in bed and Nikki was having sex in the barn. Nelson had sex with someone who is not his spouse while his spouse was nearby. Victoria was in her office and Nelson was having sex in his office. We can agree on that because we are watching the same TN.

Based on those three facts. I think we are watching the same telenovela and in MY OPINION I believe that Nikki's actions resemble her father's. I will say it again. I like her, but she is like her father.


 

Thanks Madelaine, that was straightforward serious recap. I rely on any which way recaps that I read because I am not Hispanic and my Spanish is not good at all. However I enjoy telenovelas because I improve on my Spanish and I learn about the Latin cultures especially that of Mexico.
That being said, what I am trying to say here, is that I look up to you, recappers, for your hard work in interpreting these novelas for us. Thank you all.
Now as for this episode, finally, a moment of truth from Kendho. I wonder what her intentions were.
Carlos, I for one may be easily swayed but I also believe Anibal's explanation of the baby and the rocks. For now I will accept it from him.
As for Nikki, what can I say, the deed was done, there's a big A on her forehead but she is not a skank. Like Julia, I like her for her "funny and audacious" way. I can forgive her. Can't wait for her to divorce Roy though.
And most of all, a "SuuuperrrMommy Day to all Mommy Recappers and bloggers here!!!
 

BTW, in Mexico, Mother's Day is always on May 10, so it was this past Friday. Happy two Mother's Days!

I know this, because apparently here in the Valley "we celebrate both of them!" as I was cheerily informed by my waiter last year when we unwittingly went to our fave Mex place last year on Mexican Mother's Day on a Thursday. It was packed!

Now I'm feeling guilty. While I'm very fond of Aníbal, and I did think that he was very convincing, and I meant it when I said, "He was as surprised as the rest of us over the box of rocks." However, I wasn't all that surprised initially by the box of rocks. We all knew that Adriana's baby Lucia was alive and had the remains of an infant been found when the coffin was opened, then Adriana's search probably would have ended there.

I apologize for misleading you, and admit that my words were meant more to bait Vivi and others who don't share the sympathetic way in which I view Aníbal. I think that his prime motivation is love for his family. He is terribly flawed and has done horrible things, but there must be some reason that Tony has valued his friendship all these years.

I honestly think that both Aníbal and Odette are basically good people who are deeply flawed but will receive some degree of redemption before all is said and done.

So Vida2, please join me here at the Odette table. Drinks are on me.

but wanted to take a chance to wish all mothers out there and all 'virtual mothers' a very happy mothers day with all their family.
I will try to read the recap and comment tomorrow evenin. been a crazy week with bad and great news. today was a great day, took my mom to the beach with my grandson. we used to go to beach all the time when we were kids but my mom had not been to beach in several years... so it was a great day. we ate yummy food on way home. Again, happy mother's day to everyone.

I think my fav is the piggy bank and Titanic ones... I love the Titanic theme... was just laid off from work (dont worry was a move i was planning on makin in summer, getting a better job, only now they paid me two months to look for it) and i kept telling everyone this company is like the titanic, the good folks who really could recognize the upcomin doom left early and now the ones still aboard are announcing over intercome to each other ABANDON SHIP!!

I too don't think that Anyballs cancelled that ADN test. He is just telling Cande that to bamboozle her and so he could get what she put in that letter to Angel and Lili. He is a sly old fox and likes to have all his info at hand, so he can fight back. I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of anyone that crossed him. Sucks to be FF, jus' sayin'.

Anyballs is just such a smooth liar. I don't trust him at all. I don't think Cande trusts him either. She may be in love with him, but this secret she has been keeping all these years is getting to her. We will have to wait and see if Cande conscience wins this one.

Wow, such diverse comments about Nikki. I see her as a woman/child. She really is as naïve as Lili in some respects. I don't think she was mature enough to get married. Sure she talks a great game, thanks for all the phrases and the translations, Vivi and Marta, but I think she is one scared little girl inside. She has listened to the wrong person, her supposedly best friend, and now realizes the mistake she made.

I think she married Roy to escape Frankie. She couldn't escape all the things she thought he was, gigolo, gold digger, and learned too late he was none of these things. I look at her making love with Frankie as different than what her FF Papa is doing. She does love Frankie and hasn't gravitated to anyone else. Her FF Papa on the other hand has boinked every model at Meta Imagen I bet. He has been doing this for a long time, Nikki just with Frankie. Nikki had other opportunities to mess around, but the only one we have seen her mess around with is Frankie. She has rebuffed everyone else, including Roy.

Was it a smart move to make love to Frankie on her wedding night? That's the sticky moral question. I don't think a lot of people are bothered by her sleeping with Frankie on her wedding night because we've seen Roy's interaction with lots of women, the Russian twins, Lili, before he even married Nikki, and he doesn't love Nikki to boot as she doesn't love Roy. I don't really think Roy is bothered by the fact that Nikki slept with Frankie, even on the wedding night. He is pithed cause he couldn't have Lili. I think that is exactly his problem. Nikki got what she wanted, Roy did not. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it : )
 

Madelaine, I understand all of that about Nikki. What I am saying is this. We have ALL of the information. But if all that you knew was that the bride was caught by the groom having sex in a barn with another man BEFORE she even took off her wedding dress and that is ALL that you knew. You knew NOTHING about the groom's activities. We are just narrowing it down to the bride's activities on this ONE particular night. Her wedding night. That's the only facts that you had and the bride was not Nikki. What opinion would you have about the bride?

I see where you are coming from, and yes if the bride hadn't been Nikki and we didn't see Roy trying to mess with every woman he came across, then yes, that would be wrong. I completely see your point of view, about the honeymoon night and Nikki sleeping with Frankie, on the honeymoon night. But I am glad she didn't sleep with Roy, or forced to sleep with Roy as in doing the deed. That would have been worse.

I know they are married, Roy and Nikki, but it's really in name only. No feelings of love there. Now it's all about Roy getting revenge and trying to hurt Nikki as much as he can, and this is what bothers me the most. After all, the only reason he married her was for the money. Nothing else. I still think the only reason he is pithed cause she got to do the deed with Frankie and he didn't get to do the deed with Lili. That's why he is so pithed. Not that Nikki was unfaithful to him. Remember when he turned on the TV and ignored Nikki? Who was he thinking about? Lili!

If this were a another couple I would completely agree with you. The bride sleeping with another guy on the wedding night is all kinds of wrong. I would understand the groom's being angry and resentful. Not the physical violence though. I don't like that at all.

I do not think she should be with Roy and I too am happy that she didn't consumate her marriage with him. But, I wouldn't have done it in a barn with Guzman. It's a little rank in there and the horse was looking. I would have snuck him into the East wing. That house looks like it has about 100 bedrooms. It would have taken days to find us. LOL

Roy has admitted he spending all his winnings on wine, wimen and antros.


 

NM-Love your weekend edition. I'm collecting all the interviews for a future collection. I would love to have you interview Odette--NOW, post-gay son news. She certainly carries around a lot of anger and that's towards everybody she comes in contact with.

I guess lunch is off now.

 

I went back to review some past episodes to catch up and we have ONE loose end that is really nagging at me.

After finding out Guzman was a paid escort-gigolo from Kendra's made up web page, Nikki decided to send him a message that she was La Millionaria Solitaria and would like to take him up on his offer. "He" responded that he would. We've never heard anything more about that. Of course the wedding came along in the next day or two, but IT WAS a TEASER, darn them.

Haven't quite gotten caught up yet--either watching or reading. It will have to wait until after Mother's Day. Didn't know that Mexico celebrates on a fixed day of the month.

So, Un Doble Enhorabuena a todas las Madres del mundo (incluyendo Las de CarayCaray).


 

Odette would be quite the 'get', wouldn't she, Anita? But I've heard that for now she is in seclusion with Paquita la del barrio. :)

About the dangling storyline of Nikki sending Frankie that message on the gigolo website. When they were in the barn they talked about Kendho saying bad things about Frankie, and Nikki never told Frankie about that website. I think it will come up again in the future. I don't think they will leave that little tidbit dangling. They are good at resolving issues in this TN but most of the time not right away. Just my theory, not a spoiler.

I'm still on the fence about Kendho being preggers. Yeah, I know she talks to that belly all the time, but we have yet to see her at the gyno and she had her plastic surgeon pose as her gyno. Does she even have a gyno? Supposedly she gave FF that dvd of her sonogram, but he never looked at it. And she has been saying it's a girl named Mia!!!! When exactly can they tell the sex of a bebe in utero? Carlos can you weigh in please?

I've come to the conclusion that the underlying problem that we are struggling with here today is that:

WE ARE THE SNAILS

We know all the little secrets. We know the depths of each character's heart. We all know what a conniving creep Roy is. Therefore, even though what Madelaine said:

is an undeniable truth that I doubt that anyone will dispute... Nikki's blatant betrayal of her sacred wedding vows doesn't seem quite so bad.

Cynderella points out the inconvenient truth that Nikki surely was not aware of how awful Roy truly is when she married him and yet nevertheless chose to take that hayride with Guzmán. I think that her flaunting of basic mores at least deserves a tsk tsk.

If we were not all-knowing Snails but had simply been guests at the wedding and then learned of her indiscretion, we'd probably all be outraged.

I do understand that other opinions may vary.

Fake marriage vows do not make a marriage in heaven. In Nikki's situation who would you choose to have sex with on your wedding night: Roy or Guzman? Case closed.

As for the Odette table: she is a wonderfully evil character and that's why she has a table. But add up her RAP sheet and there can be no redemption for her, unless she actually does something to merit her mother of the year.

As for Anyballs, he's the consummate liar. He and the doc probably had some peon bury an empty coffin. Perhaps he didn't know they put rocks in it. He's hard to like but he is persuasive. Do not think he will be alive by the finale.
 

Roy's money - sometime back in a conversation between Roy and his coach, it came out that Roy had spent his money as fast as he made it and that lately he hasn't been winning the big money matches. The coach was upset that Roy was not focused on practicing to maintain his international standing.

KendHo's ultrasound - you can download one from the internet at any point in a pregnancy. We all know that KendHo knows about copying DVDs.

Kendra acts like a pregnant woman in private. She talks to her stomach and touches it when she is alone. Thats why I think she really is preggers.

I agree with your analysis of Nikki and her wedding night slip. She is not very worldly or mature. For a wealthy, privileged young woman who traveled to Europe and hung out with her "rich" friends in DF, she is not very life savvy. She was putting on such a show as "the toy's" novio/prometido in order to make Guzman jealous, which it did. She has been manipulated by Kendho and isn't sophisticated(life smart wise) enough to see she was a pawn in Kendho's planes. While succumbing on her wedding night with Guzman has moral implications, she is still a very troubled, emotional girl with self esteem and trust issues. She now has to deal with what she has done. Her marido "the toy" is not blameless and I just hope he stops his verbal abuse of Nikki because she is already falling back into her bulimic habits, which does not bode well for her health. I saw her as a spoiled girl, but I have empathy for her and hope she is able to pull herself out of the hole she is in right now.

I can hardly wait for the Lunes Vikki/Kenho slapfest. Go Vikki.

I suppose Viki already has. The promos make it look like Niki finds out as well - unless they are tricking us again. There is going to be a whole lot of recovery needed after learning this truth - but the healing at least can begin, and no more trusting of the outed Kendho which is huge.

Clara Fying. Kendra called a fake doctor (a plastic surgeon) and not a OBGYN because she was faking a potential miscarraige. She is apparently a good customer of the plastic surgeon. This answers another question that I have had. If she was a hooker, why have none of her johns come forward? Answer, she is a good customer of that plastic surgeon.

Nelson didn't want a DNA test because Kendra made him feel guilty about it. If you think about it, asking a woman that you've slept with a thousand times for a DNA test would be insulting. Remember, when they first got together, Kendra was acting like a good girl. She didn't just fall into bed with him like another character on the show who shall remain nameless did with someone else...ahem. Don't send me hate mail. :)'

Anita- IRT dangling (don'tsaybalzacdon'tsaybalzac) plots- I am also wondering about that one. When Nikki finds out her impending stepsister will it affect Kendra's credibility? I am very interested to see what happens. As it has been pointed out, the writers leave very little dangling (heeheehee.)

I fear Vicky will feel totally betrayed by JA not telling her what he knew. And the way it came out was terrible to watch. Ya know I've been thinking about that myself. For awhile there I thought if Kendho is really preggers it could be Salsa Dude's. But Vivi pointed out that Salsa Dude and Kendho hadn't done it in ages. Still I wouldn't put it past Kendho to be inseminated or to sleep with someone else and claim it was the FF's bebe. Kendho would do anything to get her some of that Balvanera moola which she thinks she is entitled to. And she still hasn't taken a ADN test! If it were truly the FF's, in my own humble opinion, she would have run to get that test already just to stick it to FF, Ms Vikki and Nikki.

The father of Kendho's bebe got me to thinking. Maybe she slept with Espanto, just an opinion, and that's who the bebe daddy is.
 

Upon reading the comments, I find that there is a little softening towards the odious one, Odette Longoria. There is however no softening towards the villain Nelson Brizz. There is no table on the patio for the FF nor should there be. I would never want to play the villain and be hated and despised by everyone. Every drama must have one or more villains to make the story line intresting but it must be hard to play someone with evil intent if you are not such a person. Having said that, I thought that Guillermo Capetillo aka Nelson Brizz did a great job Friday night when he was outed as the Ho's lover. I thought that he would bust a blood vessel while denying any involvement with Kendra
No one likes a villain, I sure don't but credit should be given for work well done. So hats off to senor Capetillo, you played your part well.

Can't wait to see what will happen to villain number two [KendHo] tonight. It should be good or as most people say---must see tv.

About KendHo's Baby Daddy, if we can bear a few more words.

The sonogram can be faked? Who knew--well I didn't. They didn't even *have* sonograms when mine were gestating.

I thought it had been established that you can't (or shouldn't) get a ADN test on a fetus until the third month (I keep remembering Sortilegio). It's either true or official TN medical practice. With the fetus so small, sticking the needle into the amniotic fluid might harm the baby, no?

Are we so sure Kendho has actually refused to take one or is just waiting until the proper time lapse. We do know she was offended by FF's requesting it. But in my opinion, he had a right to ask (making it clear to me that he was never serious about he--she was just bed candy).

So we have some choices, no?

FF - he *is* the most likely candidate because Odette was set on her getting pregnant by him as a channel to the financial goodies. OTOH, Kendho *was* a bit surprised when she got pregnant so soon after setting the plot into play (especially when she started out not wanting to do it).

Salsero - You all say it couldn't be his because of the timing. Kendho did tease and taunt him about it possibly being his. I don't know if she really knows the precise date when she got pregnant, but she certainly wanted to make Salsero sweat about it.

Espanto - She treats him worse than a dog (don'tsaybalzacdon'tsaybalzac)hehe,
so I don't think it would be that pedazo de mierda--although his disguises are funny.

Nobody - We're still toying with this one. Could she be faking the whole thing to get Odette off her back, to *get* FF and the money. She can always throw herself off the Staircase of Doom and *miscarry* (a la Roberta in CME) to avoid showing. But that move would eliminate her from the Balvanera bank account she thinks is going to be hers.

Kendho was taken by surprise by the revelation and argument and figured that putting the bebe on FF was the best she could do in the moment.

She's been trying to get him away from Victoria all this time and she leaped to the conclusion that this would do it--especially since he was wimping out on the divorce thing before Nikki even got married. Whether the confession will get her a trip down the aisle or just support for the child is up to speculation.

I think our Kendra would do better by going back to modeling, win a few beauty contests and then audition and get selected for the next Mejia production starring William Levy. Ooops, too late for that one. Maybe the next one. I must say, she looked gorgeous in that red dress at the wedding (I'm still catching up in my watching.)

Or she could marry Roy, the rich Royero once he and Nikki get divorced. That would be a good one.

I first wondered about KendHo's pregnancy when she started calling it 'Mia'. It seemed too early to know if the baby would be male or female, and Mia is just too much me-me-me.

On another topic, I so want to know what Salsero sent Odette. Maybe tonight....

Now I know that Kendra could easily have faked a photo or two, but not if FF had been there. As I recall, he declined to accompany her because he might be seen there and he's too important and recognizable to be associated with an obgyn patient.

Still not too sure about ADNs on very freshly made babies.

I can't wait for Monday's recap. We sure did get a lot of action. Man, it was the slap(x2) heard all around the Balvanera mansion! I got such satisfaction out of seeing Kenho thrown out on her behind with Salsero doing the honors.
