Amores Verdaderos #120 Tue 4/30/13 The Letter and not much else
Lo siento, a quickie recap which I'll hopefully flesh out later. Some highlights based on a flawed memory, plus a few screencaps. Hopefully more of those too later.
* Nikki is trying to be nice to Lili as Lili tends to her plants. But Nikki is an idiot and can't quite contain her snobby for too long. When Lili sweetly offers a plant for the wedding ceremony, Nikki says no, we're getting the best florist in the city to do the flowers, and besides, you don't realize it, but you still have too much Country Bumpkin in you to do the job! (Or something!) Can I just bop her over the head now? Anyway, the important part of the conversation is when Lili admits that while she really loved the Little Gorilla, it was hopeless and she's got this new guy now and he's a sweetie. (VOMIT!) Nikki is affected by this, and seems to be wondering if it's possible to get over Guzmancito.
* The Little Gorilla is venting to Big Angel how he knows Nikki loves him, but she's so thick-skulled she won't admit it. Even Victoria knows and would prefer him for a son-in-law over Roy the Boy! In the middle of this, Salsa-Dude comes into the bodyguard salon and overhears. Uh-oh. But Salsa-Dude seems more or less sympathetic. They start to talk about how somehow Kendra-Ho is behind it, she's vowed to mess things up for Guzman. Salsa-Dude almost lets slip how well he knows Kendra-Ho, but is able to back down a little from that so the other bodyguards don't figure it all out. They all agree that the Ho is a HO. Big Angel wonders aloud if maybe Vikki would kick the Ho out of the house if it was discovered that she was carrying the FF's baby? You think?
Everyone has dirt on everyone else, it seems. |
* Cande goes to see Anyballs to read him the riot act about what he did to poor Adriana and her baby. She doesn't, of course, admit that she knows where Adriana's baby is! Anyballs gives his typical B.S. about how he did what was best. She is disgusted with him. He admits that he's using that strand of hair that he "accidentally" snagged off of Lili to confirm that the ADN is legit. Cande is outraged that he'd doubt her word. Whatever . . . we know what the ADN will show, don't we?
* Cande decides that she's got to come clean to Big Angel and Lili, but she doesn't want to actually face them with it. So she writes it all in a letter (BAD IDEA) and makes them swear they won't read it until she's dead. Later, Lili gets this "feeling" in her chest that she NEEDS to read it ASAP.
Cande makes Big Angel and Lili swear to the Virgencita that they won't open the letter until after Cande's death. |
* Roy the Boy is telling his coach/confessor/whatever that he'd love to have Nikki's money but also be with Lili. The friend shakes his head and rolls his eyes.
* Anyballs visits Roy the Boy's parents and tells them he knows they're broke. He doesn't want to call off the wedding, though. Instead, he'll invest in them so they can get their business back on its feet. After all, Nikki and Roy the Boy are IN LOVE, aren't they? All he wants is assurance that Roy the Boy will make Nikki HAPPY. He brings up that he "bought" (his words!) a husband for Vicki and that's not working out, so he wants a better deal with Roy the Boy. Oh boy.
* The Furry Fornicator is conspiring with Kendra-Ho. They figure that Big Angel has the incriminating strip-tease DVD at his place. FF will go over to retrieve it. He steals Thomasina's keys and goes to Big Angel's apartment when everyone's gone.
* It's the bachelor/bachelorette party for Roy the Boy and Nikki. They're at a loud, colorful bar and eventually it's time for the two sexes to split up—the girls with Nikki, the boys with Roy the Boy. Nikki's friend Nabila is still drooling over our Little Ape who is being Nikki's bodyguard. Plus it looks like Nikki's trashy friends have something embarrassing or not fun planned for her. She bails with the Little Ape, asking him to not let this become the worst night of her life. He whisks her away.
* The FF sneaks around Big Angel's apartment wearing gloves and searching for the DVD. Which of course he doesn't find. But naturally he finds the letter from Cande! He opens it right there and reads the two revelations inside: First is that Christina is Anyball's third daughter, and second, that Lily is Adriana's lost baby. The FF tucks this letter away and vows that he'll use it to keep Anyballs in check! Later when Kendra-Ho asks him if he found anything, he says no, that Big Angel must have destroyed the DVD. He decides to keep the info about Christina and Lily secret. No one should know about that yet!
The Furry Fornicator reads the fateful letter. |
* Estefano has a convo with Odioette. She's expecting to meet his "girlfriend" at the wedding event (I think?). She assumes that the "girlfriend" is of their same social circle. Estefano says they can all meet that weekend (just them). He doesn't let on who the "girlfriend" is, or what "social circle" this person belongs to. But he does look a bit green around the gills about it.
* Anyballs is telling Vicki that don't worry, the FF can't do anything to her, he's taken care of it. Oh, how little do you know, Anyballs!
Anyballs thinks he's got everything under control. Don't be too confident, dude! |
* We have a set-up for a plot development that is almost assuredly coming up later: Vicki and Adriana are telling Nikki how at Vikki's wedding, her boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez arrived at her wedding to the FF and begged her to go away with him. The back story is given on Carlos, he was some ordinary guy worked with her, she fell in love with him and Anyballs got rid of the guy somehow. (I missed part of this scene.) Do we suspect some similar event is going to happen at Nikki's wedding? And do we wonder if this Carlos guy is going to return soon?
* Big Angel has returned for work and is cordial and friendly with Vicki, but he's suppressing that old spark that they used to have, and Vicki notices it. Big Angel doesn't seem to.
* Guzmancito has whisked Nikki away to some high place where they can see the city. There are local people selling corn on the cob (which looks tasty) which is on a stick. So it's corn on a stick. Nikki tries to get all snobby about it but eventually eats the corn. Meanwhile, the Little Ape tries again to talk reason to her, tells her that Kendra-Ho is trying to drive a wedge between them, and what does he need to do to prove that he's not a gold-digger? But Nikki, while admitting that she cares for him and is grateful for his concern and care for her, does not relent. "There's no future for us" she says, and Viewerville and the Little Ape all sigh in disappointment at her bull-headedness. END OF EPISODE!
But will she listen to her heart! NOOOOOOOO. |
She just can't believe that her super-duper wonderful friend Kendra would steer her wrong! |
AVANCES: Something exciting. MUST SEE TV!
Labels: Amores
"Everyone has dirt on everyone else, it seems" was the perfect catch phrase.
Anibal has methodically and ruthlessly manipulated the lives of his children and beloeved grand daughter. He ran off the loves of both Vicky and Adri, buying a despicable mate for Vicky and robbing Adri of her child as well. Initially surprised he did not call off Nikki's wedding, does he really care about Nikki's happiness or is it merely the family reputation?
Although Nelson will be well armed with his newly acquired information, he is not intelligent enough to survive on the playing field with Anibal. Anibal will decimate him. Interesting that despite all his faults and few positive attributes (I'm cutting some slack here), Anibal is loved while Nelson is loathed.
Our bodyguards are all aware Nelson is Kendra's baby's father. That ace in the hole will be very needed to combat what is to come.
Even though Nikki reverted to nastiness with Lili, I did feel sorry for her last night. I'm wondering if this farce of a marriage might actually take place.
My main concern is resreved for Lili who ready for bed has just invited Roy in. Oh dear.
Diana
So, Nikki leaves the party and apparently Roy doesn't even try to track her down? He shows up at Lili's instead… all in the same night? Qué the heck?
Hopefully Vikki's old boyfriend Carlos will make an appearance. Soon!
At least Anibal ran a credit check on Los Pavia and found out their current financial ruin.
Wonderful recap. Flawed memory, my left foot! Your memory is amazing.
I was happy to see Lili and Nikki getting along. That was a first.
That bachelor/bachelorette party was so quick, I thought more would happen, but glad it didn't. I like how Guzmi and Nikki went off and had that corn and that big ole hug. I can't believe after all the things that Guzmi has done for Nikki, she still believes the Ho. Go figure.
I just knew Angel knew about the FF being the Ho's bebe daddy! I am glad that Guzmi knows. Salsa Dude knew too. That is, if there is a bebe.
I wish Cande had just told the Angel and Lili about Cris being a Balvanera. She took the easy way out, and now FF has the letter.
FF THINKS he has the upper hand. We all know what Anyballs is capable of and I think Anyballs will come up with something to stop the FF. Anyballs is a wily old codger and I bet he can best FF with his eyes closed and one hand behind his back!
I too wonder if Carlos will make an appearance. The Angel didn't look happy to be hearing about Ms Vikki's first love. The look on his face, lol.
Diana:
I too worry about Lili letting Roy in, in her jammies. I don't want the Roller Boy to be taking advantage of little Lili. She is too good for him.
I like how Ms Vikki wants FF out of the bidness and the Balvanera Manse but now that he has that letter, good luck with that! Unless Anyballs comes up with something to thwart FF, I think he's there to stay.
Can't wait for tonight when FF and the Angel have another confrontation. That should be interesting.
I thought for a moment Nikki was going to tell Guzman she saw his website, but nope.
When Lili told her dad earlier that since her mom's death she's going to be more careful about what she says and does, I figured she'd be smarter about Roy. Hope she proves me right tonight.
At least the good news is that Nelson wasn't stupid enough to tell KendraHo, or Lili's life would be in danger.
So will Lili and JA call Cande to let her know they lost her Very Important Letter?
Yep, Carlos is definitely showing up sometime. This is about the third time they've revisited his story.
Looking forward to the faceoff between Anibal and Nelson.
Vicky is so in love with JA, I can't see him turning her head unnless she feels JA is now lost to her.
We know JA will be rip-roaring jealous. Carlos may be the catalyst to change his mind about pursuing Vicky.
Can't wait to see the fireworks!
Diana
Diana - ITA that Nelson doesn't have the intelligence to do anything to Anibal even with the letter; that old coot will decimate him.
Doris - Roy leaving his own bachelor to visit Lili - Icky!
Mads - Yes Cande took the easy way out. I can't believe she made them promise not to look until she died. Way to follow what the priest said and help Adriana. She's looking more like Paula to me here.
Niecie - It would be great if Carlos shows up and is now rich. And I hope Lili isn't dumb.
I thought it was most peculiar that both Nikki and Roy would escape from their own bachlor/ette parties and no one would care. She argued with her girl friends, so that came off ok. Can't remember what Roy's excuse was. But I do remember him saying to the guys not to worry about the tab, he's picking it up.
At least we were spared Lily showing up and seeing the two together. So, we're running out of time for Nikki to see Lily on Roy's phone.
So the letter is gone. I thought I saw at the end Lily on the phone with Big A telling him the letter is missing. I'm sure they will tell Cande, once they realize that someone had to have been in their apt. after the three of them left.
Poor Oldballs is under the illusion that Nikki and Roy are in love or he wouldn't be propping up the Pavia's business. OTOH, if he suspected her real feelings were for Guzmi, he might still be interested in 'buying' Roy (and his family) for the good of the Balvanera family reputation.
one little detail, JM and Estefano are planning a dinner party to reveal to Odiosa that they are a couple. So it won't be at the wedding but probably much earlier.
How ironic that his granddaughter will end up with the son of the woman he forced to leave her home and this young man grew away from his father because of that.
Nikki insulting Liliana about the flowers wasn't so bad, I actually think it was one of her nice mean moments lol
Well the part about wanting to bop Nikki over the head, I was really thinking if anyone needs to be bopped over the head it should be Anibal, Just saying. The old man is looney, buying love. Again this is where I don't understand Anibal. He doesn't want his children or grandchildren to be with people below themselves, meaning poor yet Roy and his family are broke and faking being rich. So what if he thinks it's for love, Carlos was in love with Victoria yet that didn't matter and he could have done the same thing he is now with Roy and his family by "investing" in them The old man is losing it for sure. Btw I'm curious about this Carlos character and looking forward to the plot becoming more interesting.
Was it just me or was Nikki already possibly pre-thinking leaving The bachelorette party, because as soon as Roy left she was out of there, but then again she is pretty serious when it comes to her clothes and accessories.
I enjoyed the Nikki and Guzmancito scene, Mmmm and the Mexican style corn on the cob looked yummy, haven't had one of those since I was a little girl. I really thought that this was the moment for them to have time to get everything out in the open and Nikki to tell him what she discovered. But nope, they're going to keep me on edge pretty much until the possible wedding day. Never wrecking if you ask me, we all know what's next after the Bachelorette party...
I kind of wish Guzmancito had done more, but then again Nikki's thick skull...
We shall see! Box of tissues ready just in case. Lol
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
is beyond me"
Because Nikki is not done evolving into her true self. Beyond all the current immaturity and naïve mindset she is soon to blossom and has shown some of that already with recent situations with Nelson when he tried to get her to watch the "sex-tape" and Guzmancito and her have had great moments aside from all the negative that still stand out in my mind. Nikki still has time to become a mature, vibrant, young woman with respect for those she currently sees as below her. Maybe I'm bias but I'm hopeful for her :)
I can't wait for Nikki to discoves what Kendra has been up to, she can't satay friends with the villain until the very end... can she? Which reminds me I wonder what will Nikki say or do once she finds out Kendra is pregnant with her little sister and the lies she told about her Guzmancito... Interesting to think about for me.
Team Nikki/Guzmancito
Diana, I was also concerned about Lili inviting Roy into the apartment. But l completely echo Neicie's sentiments:
"When Lili told her dad earlier that since her mom's death she's going to be more careful about what she says and does, I figured she'd be smarter about Roy. Hope she proves me right tonight."
Fingers and toes crossed.
So shrewd old Aníbal prefers Acquisitions to Mergers. No surprise there. But the Pavías don't look all that happy about being the chumps. nyuk nyuk.
Candelaria Candelaria. Such a bad decision. The only person who would not have been able to recover from the truth -- Cristina -- is gone. So Cande is only trying to protect herself here.
Fortunately there is an antidote to Nelson Brizz's momentary power -- the truth! Opalina already knows. And maybe Adriana's detective will track down nurse Abigail before episode 246. (Well a maven can dream, can't she?) However it comes about, once the truth is out there, Nelson Brizz has nothing at all.
So both Roy and Nikki ducked out of the surprise their vulgar friends had prepared for them. And each gravitates to the person they really want to be with ...
I, for one, hope that Carlos Gonzales is happily married.
I am disgusted with Candelaria. She is totally selfish. Maybe if she had a terminal illness and expected to die within a few weeks, it would make sense to ask them to wait until she is gone, but she seems hale and hearty and likely to carry on for another twenty years at least, easily. She's really okay with making Adriana continue to suffer and search for her daughter that long, assuming she can't figure it out through other means? Yeah, Jose Angel and Lili will be shocked, but they can deal with it. It isn't like Lili is a minor and he will have to give up custody or anything. He raised her; she's still his daughter; the more family the merrier. Cande is just being a coward.
I was glad Nikki ditched her terrible "friends". Now if she would just admit to herself that Roy is as bad and worse and ditch him, too...
I hope that when Nelson tries to blackmail Anibal, the old dude just laughs in his face and throws him out of the house and makes the announcement himself. At his age and experience, he should know better than to let himself be blackmailed.
Victoria in Texas---Wow!! You really have a full plate. Wish you could find a way to stay on the Cary, Cary! blog, you are a great team member. Marta has the title SuperMarta, that same Super should be placed in front of Victoria. So
sad that you will be leaving but preparing for your life's future is more important--you will be missed.
Carlos---It's time: Oplina, meet Kendra. LOL---Are the snails up to it? Way too much laughter. Carlos, you might give someone a heart attack.
Diana---You know that I am a permanent member of Camp Little Orchid---I'm concerned for Lili too
Nelson isn't smart enough to get away with much, that is unless the writers give him some additional brain cells.
Anyballs is at it again, this time it's Nikki's future. Will this guy ever learn that it shouldn't be up to him to determine the Balvanera women's future?
The Roller Boy really gets around doesn't he? Two women in one night
and on the night of his bachelor party---I couldn't believe it. Be careful Little Orchid.
Did anyone notice that Guzman didn't pay for the corn last night?
the gringo
LOL!! yeah i loved that too.
how about this?
Nil-Brains sends Angel to take KenDrat somewhere so he can talk to Vicky without Angel around. Angel uses the chance to give Opalina a ride back to the bus station to go back home... So they stop at a gas station and Angel goes in for a while. leaving Opalina and KenDrat a bit too close for comfort in the backseat.
Carlos and Vincente (Adri's bebe daddy) were dirt poor, as in no money, no good family name. This is why he ran both of them off.
But look at Anyballs, he just loves him some Candelaria and as far as we know she doesn't come from money and everything she got she worked for, with no help from Anyballs. So what is up with that?
I agree with you there. He has already investigated the Pavias' lack of financial means, so why can't he look a little more closely at Roy? And you are so right about FF, he is a disaster. I am hoping this wedding is a wedding interruptus. I really don't want Nikki marrying this Putz!
Totally missed out on the Aníbal/Cande encounter.
Aníbal is the most exasperating of characters. I think he is chock full of love for his family, but unfortunately he usually makes the worst possible decisions in wielding his immense power. That scene with the Pavias had me saying YES! enthusiastically and then suddenly shouting NOOO!
Too bad he didn't sit down with Nikki and tell her what he knows and ask her how she would like to proceed... but nooo...
Carlos
It's fun that the Spanish gender system keeps Estéfano and his mother talking at cross purposes. She refers to "la persona" that her son is dating and then uses the pronoun "la", as in "Quiero conocerla." (I want to meet her; or -- I want to meet this person.) Estéfano exploits the ambiguity of course.
Of course it won't be so much fun when Jean Marie gets his beret handed to him ... well, unless Estéfano comes to his defense and finally stands up to him Momster.
I'm holding out hope that when she learns the truth she will be gracious and accepting. I really don't think that she's the badass that she likes to think she is.
But then she did kick Balzac (heh heh) to the curb... didn't she?
Carlos
I do love the way you see the best in people. So I suppose it didn't occur to you that Nelson Brizz -- wearing his latex gloves and skulking around the Arriaga apartment -- looked like a serial killer, huh?
Vickie/TX I'm with you regarding Nikki's character evolvement. I really do believe in her.
Did I misunderstand or did Nikki say to Guzmancito she was leaving? Would it be her honeymoon trip? or her escape from Roy before the wedding?
If the bodyguards are aware of Kendho's role as FF's kept woman, why couldn't they take close watch at the Mansion and call Vickie's attention to catch them in the act?
Is there a reason why we think that the DNA test will change anything? It will show what it should-- that Lili is Anibal's grandchild. It's what he expects, but he's just confirming that it's true, and now Cande knows that the test will show this as she now knows Adri is Lili's mom.
ITA. It was cowardly of Cande to do the whole letter thing, AGAIN (she saw how well that worked out last time), and to ask that they wait till she's dead! Tsk, tsk. For shame Cande!
And I couldn't believe that Anibal was making the same mistake again, buying a husband. Tsk, tsk. For shame Anibal!
