TELEMUNDO Y MAS -- WEEK OF MAY 5, 2013
Labels: patrona, prohibida, telemundo
Apparently “things” functioned for Ricardo with Inés. He races home to Patti, moving her hands down the front of his body, showing off…something.
La Tuerta has a long interrogation by Rod the Bod. She babbles on and on about the photos of our cast of characters, living and dead, on his whiteboard. She tells him that Gabriela Suárez is la zopilota mayor, chief vulture.
Gah! Predictably Francisca has decided to give up the love of Gastón for el hijo malcriado de Max
Ricardo carries Patti off to bed, we see them undressed in purple sheets; but, sadly, nada de nada.
Vero is listening outside Rod’s office to Gertrudis. Frankly, this scene went on a bit too long for me. She babbles on about the ones that are dead already, saying Prudencia’s sin was one of omission – standing by in a cowardly way.
Gastón has come to try to talk Francisca out of breaking it off with him. She keeps telling him to leave and that it’s over. Finally, he proposes, saying that this would show Max how much he cares for her. Nothing works; she finally drives him away.
Patti tries to console Ricardo for what did not happen. She blames herself for putting pressure on him by having an affair, and says she’ll never have another man. She’ll wait patiently for his cure. But he’s too miserable to care.
Alejandro has discovered something on Antonia’s computer about investing in the stock market. She comes in, and he confronts her about it. He tells her all her money is tied up in the mine; where did she get money to invest? She denies everything.
Ricardo has gone to the comisaría and finds Vero eavesdropping. He tell her it’s risky and sends her home. When he goes in to Rod’s office, La Tuerta recognizes him and mentions that his mother was in the institution. But she’s so crazy looking when she says things that Rod doesn’t put much stock in her utterances.
David has taken Max to a nice restaurant. He rants some more about his mother’s “betrayal” of his father. This is just ridiculous. El Tigre died before Lucía was born. So, what, that’s more than 9 years. And Francisca is betraying her husband? David tries some more to reason with him.
Francisca apologizes to the photograph of El Tigre, and she swears she won’t be unfaithful again. The photo flies off the table and smashes on the floor. El Tigre proceeds to do a Full Poltergeist on Francisca, throwing things around and blowing out candles. She doesn’t get it, thinking he’s mad she made it with Gastón. I think he’s made she sent him away!
When Gastón comes back to La Fortaleza, very downhearted, both Constanza and Vero tell him not to give up, to be patient. And then Vero tells him he’s going to be the next mayor of SPDO!
Cecilia shows up at the restaurant bringing Valentina, who realizes she’s been set up.
David and Cecilia have left them alone, and David takes Ceci into a stables to “see the horses”. Looks just like where Patti used to get it on with Alberto. And – wonder of wonders – he produces a condom. This may be the first time I’ve ever actually seen one in a telenovela.
Alejandro has also come to see Rod for some reason and runs into Gertrudis. She does some more idiot savant stuff, telling him that two patronas are fighting for him. She also says that Gabriela Suárez is alive!
After Max tells Valentina that he and his mother “made peace”, she asks him if this means he’s going to accept her relationship with Gastón. The thoughtless jerk smiles broadly and says that Francisco broke off the relationship herself; he didn’t even have to ask her. Val tells him that, of course, she did it to satisfy him. But she finally gives up the struggle and accepts a kiss from him.
Constanza and Vero gang up on Gastón, insisting that he’s the right man to run for mayor. Because of his radio broadcasts telling the truth, everyone in town trusts him. He finally gives in and says he’ll run.
Antonia and Rodrigo are both tossing and turning in their separate beds with cases of major lust.
Ricardo confides in Alejandro over a drink. “Is it possible to function with a woman you hardly know and then go home to the woman you love completely and nada? Then he tells Ale that he was with a woman for the first time. His face lights up at the memory. He says he felt so alive.
Antonia shows up at Rod’s hotel. They both verbalize what a bad idea this is and, of course, fall straight into bed.
Nina enters Yairs room. Everyone is leaving. Cami is heading for Orlando. Tere will get married. Deniz doesn’t live with the clan anymore. And Yair has been ignoring Nina lately. Yair says he made a mistake and apologizes. He was blind but now he sees things clearly.
Bruno and Francis greet pen. Bruno excuses himself as Francis and Pen. He finds Bianca and tells he he thinks she was right about Yair. Yair called Ariel and plans to tell him everything tonight.
The clan finished their dinner. Except for Flav who never show up. Bianca asks the Cami and Tere to leave Flavs plate for when she arrives. Then Bianca tells Francis about Teres engagement to Gabo. Cami and Tere are confused by Biancas behavior when Flav shows up. Pen asks where Flav was. Bianca wants to know why Flav is leaving early every day when she tells B&B to talk to Ariel about their secret. B&B want to get in Flavs life.
Nico is at his fathers house. Willy tells Nico since he is the new share holder the two should invest together. Nico refuses. Willy tells him that Bruno is the real shareholder and Nico was given scraps to be tied to Ariels company for life.
Bruno walks into Yairs room. Yair doesn’t want him in his room. Bruno says he can walk wherever he wants. “Even in Ariels workshop right?” Yair asks. Bruno has 2 flashbacks. Bianca telling Bruno she suspected Yair. And Yairs phone call to Ariel who claimed Yair was acting strange lately. Bruno asks Yair to watch what he tells Ariel. Yair says that anything he tells Ariel will be true. Bruno asks what Yair plans to say. Yair refuses to talk. Bruno tells him that surely its about the cruise line. Yair reconsidered the idea. Now he wants to work at a jewelry store. He wants to ask Ariel about his conflict. Yair leaves the room and it doesn’t look like Bruno is convinced.
Yair joins the servants in the kitchen. It looks like their watching news about the Boston Bombing.
Emilio Herrera calls Bruno to tell him that the media will learn of his “relationship” with Nina. Bruno says Eli is a liar and there is nothing between him and Nina. Bruno tells Emilio not to mess with his family. Emilio says to contact him for anything else then hangs up.
Flav is telling off Pen and Bianca. Nina is on the phone with Paula who informs her that she (Nina) will appear on a gossip show. Nina tells Ariel but he leaves to talk to Yair as Bruno shows up. Bianca stops him by saying they have guests. Ariel agrees that his talk with Yair can wait. Then Nina tells everyone she is on TV. They watch as Emilio tells his story: Bruno dumped Eli for Nina and many people witnessed this at the restaurant. Nina wants to see the whole thing but Ariel turns off the tv. Bruno leaves to talk to Eli. Ariel is pissed. Flav tries to calm him down but he goes after Bruno.
Ariel blames Bruno for the TV incident. Bruno says he doesn’t love Nina that way. He didn’t stick up for Nina when Eli attacked her. Bruno says it wasn’t a big deal. Ariel refuses to let Bruno hang out with Nina again. Ariel children are sacred to him. He wants Bruno to leave the house.
The servants are watching the gossip show. Salo doesn’t like what he sees and wants to tell Ariel. Cele thinks he shouldn’t bother Ariel. Tere also thinks the gossip is no big deal. Kat thinks the interview will be a big hit and may be true. Cami agrees with Kat. Salo wants the two (and the rest of the servants) to stop talking bad about the Piamontes. Yair looks as if Christmas has been canceled!
Pen thinks Emilios tab will hutrt Ariel. Flav doesn’t think so since the tab was a lie. Ariel wants to sue Emilio, but Francis also thinks its not a big deal. Nina says Bruno needs to talk to them and admit he left Eli for another girl. Bianca says there is no other girl but Francis agrees with Nina.
Bruno is packing his clothes when
Deniz enters. She wants to know who his new woman is. Bruno claims there is no woman but Deniz says that he needs to tell the truth. She doesn’t want Nina to suffer over his actions.
Yair is in his room. Remembering when he caught B&B, then Ariels offer to help find him a job.
Nina is talking to Paola. She says Ariel is pissed and she feels sorry for Bruno. Paola asks if Nina actually did seduce him. She says no as Deniz enters Ninas room. Nina hangs up. Deniz is surprised by Ninas maturity. She isn’t making a scene. Nina says Flav is right. The gossip is a lie.
Ariel and Bianca are in their bedroom. Hes still pissed at Bruno. Nina is in love with Bruno so this will seriously affect her. Bianca says Nina may have gotten over and it wasn’t all Brunos fault. Ariel asks Bianca if she also thinks Bruno has another woman. He thinks Nina is right, he needs to admit that there is another woman. Bianca asks him to calm down and take a shower. She will tend to Nina.
Yair is upstairs. Bianca runs into him. He wants to talk to Ariel but Bianca says Ariel is busy. He tries to head for Ariel room but Bianca blocks him. He tries to go put Bianca gets aggressive and pushes him. She says there are no secrets between her and Ariel. If Yair has anything to say he can speak to her. Ariel shows up and sees the two. He asks Yair what does he need. Yair says they had a pending conversation. Ariel almost forgot he tells Yair to speak. Yair wanted to talk to him in private. Bianca says Ariel had a rough day he needs rest. Ariel promises to talk to Yair tomorrow. Bianca head for Ninas. Ariel wants to go but Bianca says its just womens talk.
Bianca heads to Brunos room. They agree that him leaving a few days is good. But Yair will tell Ariel next morning what he saw. Bianca thinks Yair hates her. Bruno thinks Yair is right to hate the two of them. She remembers how he stared at her in the kitchen and in the hallway. Bruno says Yair mentioned wanting to work for a jewelry store. Bianca says Yair was talking about her earring. B&B should prepare for the worst. Bruno tries to reassure her and they kiss. They hug as Nina knocks on the door. Bruno says Bianca was telling him off too. He tells Bianca and Nina that he will talk to Eli. Nina asks how long Bruno will be gone. He says just a few days. Bianca and Nina say their goodbyes to Bruno and leave. Bianca says goodnight to Nina. Bianca walks to Bruno door. Bruno is on the other side. Finally she leaves.
Flav tells Bianca that she is going on vacation in Argentina. She doesn’t care. Bianca still blames Flav as the suspect. Flav of course doesn’t know what she is talking about.
Salo is talking to Simon. He tells Simon that all the Tere, Cami, and Yair are leaving. Tere says she isn’t leaving so soon. Then she tells Yair that Biancas clothes are ready.
Ariel, Bianca, Flav, and Francis are in the living room. Ariel notes that Flav hardly ate her breakfast. Is she on a diet? He asks. Francis says that asking a woman about her weight is the same as asking about her age. Ariel thinks Flav has a lover. Days ago she arrived in a red car. Flav says the red car was a lady friend. Bianca asks that Flav tell the truth. Flav says “What truth? If in put your earring in your room?”
Eli calls Bruno to talk about the gossip tab. Bruno knew she was involved. Eli denies this and accuses him of cheating on her with Nina. He gets pissed and says he did cheat with a million women but Nina wasn’t one of them.he doesn’t want her calling him ever again he cant stand her voice. Unfortunately for him Emilio recorded the whole thing.
Bruno Bianca and Ariel head for the front door. Yair is waiting for them. Yair told Simon he would drive Ariel. Yair wants to talk to Ariel. It cant wait any more. He wants to talk to Ariel in private. They head for his workshop. Bianca is scared. Bruno says she may be overreacting but Bianca is certain. She begs Bruno promises to stay by her side.
Flav calls Ivan about their trip to Argentina. She is still worried but has hope. Ivan thinks Flav should tell her daughter but she refuses. She only wants Ivan with him.
Deniz, Nina, Santi, and Francis show up to say their goodbyes to Bruno. He hugs Bianca last then leaves.
Yair sits on a chair and tells Ariel that hes always respected him. It hurts him to tell him what he is about to tell him. Ariel wants to know what is going on…..
thanks so much NovelaMan!
wow, with all the practice Bianca has been getting with Yair, she is getting really good with her death stare, I'll bet she can make flowers wilt, and by the end of the story she might be able to make things burst into flames,
a proud Nicolas, who is now a Piamonte socio, runs to his dad, (for approval ??), and Guillermo is always ready to make him a socio with the devil,
what's really interesting to watch is when the new, mature, Nina, snuggles up to Bruno, I think Bianca has some kind of out of body experience, she just can't have this at all,
so Flavia is going to Argentina, (did Bianca say go to Patagonia for all I care), what am I missing here, what's happening with Flavia, (did Bianca explain Flavia's behavior once as menopause) it's interesting watching her and Bianca banter, Flavia always has the upper hand, Bianca is still no match, but she keeps trying,
I'm wondering if Yair is a virgin, because women seem to wrap this guy around a pole, I think we should all chip in for a night at the local bordello, at least he would be a little more relaxed, I hope he doesn't want to talk to Ariel about a lung transplant, or, of course he won't spill the beans about Bruno/Bianca's pet elephant.
Alas it looks like Hot Rod has morphed into NimRod. I had thought all along that he was faking any interest in Antonia to get information but that scene of him thinking about her and not being happy about it and then the hotel tryst put that to rest. I'm totally disappointed in him and now his objectivity will have to come into play when he finds out what a witch she is.
Ale wasn't happy about Antonia playing in the stock market but it didn't enter his head that she might have been using and losing Val's money. There must be something in the water that makes all these men stupid.
So at least the teen lovers have ben taught to and are using protection. A nice way to get the message across without being preachy.
Let's just hope that Gert's craziness keeps people from realizing she might be telling the truth about Gaby being alive particularly if she associates her with Vero. On the other hand Antonia isn't pleased that she is back so her days may be numbered.
thanks so much novelera!
I was thinking that Gertrudis would finger Antonia, since she knows the Lobos want her dead, (the reason she ran in the first place) but I guess the long years she spent torturing, abusing, and killing Gabriela and Constanza, and then seeing them alive, has really twisted things for her.
interesting that Gertrudis remembers Ricardo as the little boy whining for his mother, that she had hidden away.
and also interesting that Ricardo is actually lying to Rod rather than coughing up Gertrudis' stash of proof against the Lobos, anything to extend the story at this point I guess,
(are we all waiting for Alejandro to catch up)
woohoo, Gastón for mayor!
does the Rod only wear a towel around the house, or does he take lots of showers?
Great recap, Novelera! Thanks so much.
So Gert sings like a cuckoo bird, and Rod doesn't know what to believe. He rightly thinks of sending her to the mental hospital (for that shot of Prolixin!), and then Ricardo comes in and confirms that her ramblings are all crazy - even tho we and Ric know that she's telling the truth.
I thought Ale did pick up on the "Gabriela Suarez is alive" part. But who knows what he'll do with that huge clue.
La Tuerta's ramblings got me thinking about all the dead folks. Didn't we do a death list awhile back? Seems like a good time to up date and send to Rod - his list is very incomplete. I think Antonia has been responsible for 15 deaths, plus the murder of Gabriela's unborn child. Is that a record?
- Antonia's 2 husbands (Poncia knows about at least one murder)
- Innocensia (not ordered by Antonia)
- Julia
- Duarte
- El Tigre
- 2 miners (one is Lucas' father)
- Fernando (collateral damage, not ordered by Antonia)
- Gabriela's unborn baby
- 2 lawyers in D.F.
- Prudencia
- Julio
- nurse from the manicomio
- Alberto
- Ramon
Please add any names I've forgotten.
So Vero tells Gaston he’s going to be the next mayor of SPDO. Maybe this will get his mind off Fran's cruel and dumb break up.
I just wanted to slap Max. He's worse than a jerk. His behavior is absolutely terrible. Even David recognizes that El Tigre would want Francisca to be happy.
Ricardo and Paty have a bumpy road ahead of them. Ines is neither a good friend nor a good therapist.
Beth
thanks Beth,
at the very end of the wiki page there is a running death list as well, some names not on yours are Casanova, Romina, and Valentina's grandmother, Natalia.
(I can barely remember who all of these people are)
hmm, not much of a homecoming party for Max, after all of that time in jail, or for where Macario caved in his face with the butt of his gun, and he has always been the honorable one between him and David, and now David is such a likeable person, thanks to the love of his mother, who has been dying to wrap her arms around him and just hug him.
Thanks, Deb, for the 3 additional names. I didn't think to look them up on Wiki. How could I forget poor Natalia?!
With these three victims, Antonia's responsible for 17 deaths (counting the baby). That has got to be some sort of TN record.
Beth
I actually liked the Tuerta rambling scenes, especially when she told Ale that the zopilota mayor and the loba mayor were fighting over him, and whoever wins will be the patrona. It basically explained what the TN is ultimately about: conflicts and tensions between mothers and their sons, as personified by Ale-Guerra; Guerra-David; Vero-David and even Francisca-Max and Constanza-Ricardo.
The showdown between Guerra and Vero will be about Alejandro and how he chooses to respond to evidence his mom is a monster. Like Tuerta said, Fer's repentance came too late-he realized too late to reject his mother. Will it be too late for Alejandro? I don't think so since he's a protag, but the action won't take place until he chooses a side.
Guerra hates Gaby because Fernando chose Gaby over her and more than Chamuco, she killed Tigre and put Gaby in the manicomio and made her miscarry because her son chose loyalty to Gaby over her. Making Gaby miscarry was the way to make Gaby pay for Fer saying he regretted being Guerra's son, and Alejandro choosing to leave SPDO to marry Gaby, which Guerra averted with the Gaby frameup.
I thought it was interesting how in cap 81 where Gaby basically said she wanted Ale happy even if it was n't with her, which is why she supported him quitting the mine, Guerra insisted that since Vero wants Ale, she should do whatever to keep him in SPDO since it's within her power. That's their different theories of love-Guerra's is self-serving and asphixating, while GabyVero's looks out for the best interest of the person she loves.
Thanks, Novelera for another excellent recap. Also thanks for the translations of phrases which I usually miss.
Beth, I'm not sure Antonia is setting a record, as I've seen several novelas where the villains were responsible for hundreds of lives. And certainly in the drug ones, like Pablo Escobar, he killed at least 10 very important characters directly, and actually thousands under his orders. But Antonia's killing is quite impressive. As usual, she has pretty much no remorse, feeling all the killings were necessary to accomplish her ends, or to remain in her position as Patrona.
I enjoyed Tigre's supernatural messages to Francisca, but he's got to get the meaning down a little more exactly, so she'll know what to do about Gaston. Maybe she can light some new candles, and then ask questions, with one candle going out being yes, and two meaning no? Probably not.
It's funny how things change. Way back, we thought David was terrible, and that Cecelia's infatuation with him was a big mistake. But he's pretty noble these days, even using a condom, unlike most of the adults in the show.
It's not that surprising that Rod is slipping in his moral balance. Besides the mother/son themes that J desde NYC has explained so cogently and intelligently, I think another theme is how otherwise good characters can slip, can fall towards the "dark side". This could apply to Vero, David, Ale, Constanza, even Pati and Ricardo. Each has compromised his or her morality at least a bit, at times. Now Rod's doing it. The question is, how far will they go, and can they pull back in time?
I totally agree that in SPDO good people lose their moral compass somewhat-and the difference between los buenos.y los malos is them pulling back before it's too late. I loved that even some of the minor baddies-Espino, Ramon, and Chacon-had moments when they could have reeled it in, but they chose not to. The baddies in this aren't cartoony, but made willful choices to do evil. I remember when Chacon killed Inocencia and he looked guilty-he could have owned up to it but did not. Espino at first said no to setting the explosion in the mine but his greed got the best of him. Ramon, of course, was notorious for his guilt, but continued to facilitate the lobos' evil anyway. And now Balmaceda who falls for Antonia. Of course Vero sleeping with a married Ale-pre-manicomio Gaby wouldn't have done that-and reeling back because Irene calls her out on it.
Thank you for the recap, NovelaMan. LOL at your "Yair looks like Christmas has been canceled" - very well put, I can only add that he ALWAYS looks like this :))
The fact that Flavia is very sick (I'm thinking breast cancer) and Bianca is all up in her face because she suspects she might have seen her with Bruno makes me think that Bianca has no clue about her mother's character as a whole; she is so wrapped up in her own mess of a life, that she can't even imagine that maybe there is something wrong happening with her mother, something that has nothing to do with her. Me thinks she will feel really bad if Flavia reveals the truth.
This entire Bruno&Nina story is very disturbing, I see to much foreshadowing in it and I don't like it one bit.
Deb, I'm wondering what will come up to keep Yair from telling Ariel the truth - there is no way he'll talk about B&B, or if he does Ariel will go all gangsta on the poor fellow, asking him to respect his wife and whatnot (like he did with Deniz) - but still, I'm pretty sure he will talk about some nonsense, like the kind you mentioned.
I'm all for chipping in to pay Yair a night of "relaxation" - heck, I'm sure Katia would do it for free, maybe even Camila if we wine and dine her before :)
One last remark: am I mistaken or is Bruno leaving at the exact moment when they think the truth about them is going to explode? How will he stand by Bianca if he is miles away?
Thought it was funny how Cami called Kat a "flacuchenta". If anything, Cami looks about 80lbs!
AdrianaNoel I think Bruno was saying goodbye to the clan while Yair was going to spill the beans so he may or may not be around the mansion when Yair (assuming he goes through it) siplls the beans.
Bruno Hurtado's facebook page,
(I think this is the right one)
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bruno-Hurtado/209082489229188
Ariel and Yair are in the taller and Yair looks like he is about to throw up; he is very tense, tells the boss he has to talk to him about something that will bring him great suffering. But he is so lame and can barely bring himself to open the mouth, so finally Ariel thinks this is about him leaving and feeling bad about it. So he spreads some of his wisdom, saying that sometimes darker times approach, but sooner or later everything passes - just like it happened for him when his first wife died and thank God now he has Bianca to keep him company.
So Yair doesn't say anything after all, while Bianca is back at the house, dieing with worry. When Ariel comes back and wants to talk to her it is only about Nina and the fact that although she seems to be ok with the gossip going around town about her supposed romance with Bruno, Ariel thinks she might be more affected, so could Bianca talk to her about that (LOL, Bianca - step mother of the year)
Bianca is so relieved Ariel doesn't know the truth she is capable of promising anything; she calls Bruno and tells him the good news; now they are back to thinking it was Flavia, so Bianca will take care of it. After a few "I love you's", they finally hang up the phone.
Bianca talks to Flavia again about her trip to Argentina; Flavia asks for 30.000 Dollars, I think the money is for her surgery; Bianca insists that Flavia knows what happened, she urges her to tell the truth, but Flavia is clueless and more curious than ever about the whole thing. She does mention that now that Bruno is away, she can have a good vacation, not having to worry about them anymore.
Yair didn't tell the truth, but he decides to stay in the house, after all, to protect the family; Nina is happy at least he won't be leaving; she asks her dad if they will have a vacation, but Ariel is to busy with work.
Bianca tries to talk about Bruno with Nina, but she is easily distracted by Yair, who brings her the dress she wore "that night" - one of the stains couldn't come out, so Bianca throws away the dress, especially after Yair hints at stains of another nature that can never be cleaned.
Nina still seems pretty casual with the idea of the gossip spreading around, but me thinks this is happening because she is kind of happy about it - the more people think it's true, the more chance there is for it to become true...
Ariel wants to sue the magazine, but Nico convinces him to wait until they actually publish something.
So Flavia leaves for 'Argentina' without saying goodbye to Bianca, but she does have an emotional farewell with Penelope. Bruno is in Los Angeles, calling Bianca all the time, so much that Ariel almost catches them talking on the phone a few times. Bianca keeps rejecting Ariel, she won't sleep with him, which prompts him to think about a talk he had with Flavia before, about his marriage not being a good idea. And Camila leaves for Orlando.
Nico is involved in some shady business with his dad, as far as I can tell - some stocks of Ariel's keep raising and it is not a normal situation - me thinks Nico is either involved or, at the very least, he knows Guillermo is buying it - his reluctance to talk to Penelope about business is another strong hint at that.
Several days into his trip Bruno calls Bianca, tells her he found a house for them to meet and that she should go see the owner that very day; Bianca misses him, wants him back home, but he will still be gone for some time.
When she goes to see the house there is nobody at the door to answer her, so Bianca just walks in; and, sure enough, there is Bruno, with the surprise of his return. They are both overjoyed, start making out and then get down to business, as Ariel is calling Bianca on her phone.
LOL at Bruno's facebook page - thank you for the link, Deb.
NovelaMan, Bruno left about the same time the talk between Ariel and Yair happened; if Yair had told the truth, I think Ariel would have called Bruno and ordered him to come back home, but regardless, Bianca would have been alone in the house to face his first wrath. I think he should have at least waited somewhere close, to be able to get back quickly if the truth came out.
But everytime someone sees tem or they suspect they are being followed, he says that maybe it would be a good idea to be away for a while, leaving Bianca alone to face whatever might happened; she said it very well once, he can come and go as he pleases, while she is pretty much trapped in a cage of her own doing.
I was sure Yair won't say the truth, but I never thought it would be because he doesn't have the guts to. When Ariel started talking about Bianca, that shoudl have promped him to remove the veil that is covering Ariel's face, not become a silent accomplice.
Antonia and Rod have had great sex (twice). But later, when they meet for another session at the hotel, Antonia arrives first, and finds a photo of the other Antonia. When Rod arrives, Antonia gets a bit teary, you were really calling out to her, right! Rod admits it, that was his wife, who was killed, along with an unborn child, by bad guys in a prior investigation. Rod admits that was the love of his life. But he likes our Antonia, too. I you like me, right? Antonia at first says forget it, but after a few kisses, she can't resist.
Neither can Ricardo. He's told Alejandro how he had hot sex with someone (doesn't say it's his therapist), but still can't do it with Pati. Pati goes to visit Ines, who want tell her anything, it's "confidential". Ricardo shows up, is shocked to see Pati there, says he's in a crisis, so Pati leaves, Ric can get emergency treatment. This turns out to be more sex with Ines, who says, maybe it's time for your life to take another road (through her town!). Is she the most unprofessional shrink ever?
Lucho can't bear being cooped up in Irene's house, so he goes to Vero's in a clever disguise and is immediately caught. Vero tells him she's through with Ale. But she's also through with Lucho, since he's a wanted man. So he leaves, and she has her guys follow him.
Ale finds one of Lucho's sweaters under Irene's pillow and thinks she's having an affair. So what if I am? she screams right in front of Lucia. YOU did! Lucia faints.
Gertrudis rambles a bit for Antonia, a bit for Vero, you'd think they'd be a little security wherever Gert is being held, but hey! Nice glare between Antonia and Vero.
More fun tonight!
Hombre - thanks for doing this recap. Loved your 'Lucho goes to Vero's in a clever disguise and is immediately caught'. LOL!
Poor Rod doesn't realize just how evil his bed partner is. It gives 'sleeping with the enemy' new meaning.
For her part, Antonia is truly smitten. She's going to be devastated (as well as pissed) when he arrests her.
Ines - the most unprofessional therapist? She needs to be prosecuted for criminal behavior and her license taken away!
Since Gert was going to be the director of Vero's new hospital, Vero did have a legitimate reason to visit her. On the other hand, Antonia really didn't have a reason to be there so why did they let her in? (Rhetorical question.)
'Eaten by worms' - obviously Gert was talking about Antonia. Was this a prediction of Antonia having some disease?
Beth
Thanks AdrianaNoel. Good point about Bruno skipping town/lack of support to Bianca. I didn't pick up on anything shady with Nico, so thanks for that.
Yair should seek Don Salo's advice. Did Yair ever go to the doctor? He worries me.
Flavia and "Argentina," Rebecca Jones [Flavia] played a totally different type of character in Para Volver A Amar who, rather implausibly, kept her breast cancer diagnosis and treatments a secret from her family. Weird to go through this again.
I saw last night we are heading into "Etapa Culminante."!
Clara
Thanks so much for the recap, Hombre. And, I agree, our characters keep changing up on us. I now like David a lot, and Max has gotten on my last nerve. He used to be one of my favorite characters.
Antonia Guerra is so egotistical that she resents Balmaceda's love for his dead wife. He gave it to her right between the eyes, though. Antonia who died was the love of his life, and he doesn't expect to feel that for anyone else.
Alejandro and Irene need parenting classes. So he found a sweater. Can't he shut his trap until they are alone?
I am furious at Inés. Her sex therapy practice was about to close up shop for lack of patients. So her good friend Patti helps her out by sending her a rich client who happens to be her husband. And Inés decides to seduce and try to steal her husband! There was always a bit of a gleam in her eye during her first sessions with Ricardo, but I had hoped it was a red herring. Nah, she really is a scheming witch.
I won't be able to do any recaps until Friday. I have a class, a lengthy neighborhood association meeting and a book club night this week, so I'll be lucky to even see any novelas! I can feel the withdrawal symptoms already.
Thanks so much Hombre. I was horrified by Ale and Irene having that very adult argument in front of Lucia. They both needed a spanking for that one.
I'm glad the truth about "Mi Antonia" is out now and Guerra knows she's just not that important to Rod the Bod. But hey, he enjoys getting it on with her. :)
The Ale/Irene argument made me want to punch both of them. I watch on YT and literally stopped the vid at that part and was cringing. They keep on having the same circular argument--why did you take Lucia from me?--Because you cheated, you desgraciado and I want everyone to know that!--that has no resolution. Just get a divorce already.
I think Ale should have full custody, though, and Ale give Irene a hefty alimony settlement and she leaves SPDO. He is clearly the better parent. I'm convinced Lucia would have died already if the duende/Lucho hadn't been there.
I can't talk about Dr. Ines dispassionately. She's so trifling and awful for what she's doing to Ricardo. He seems like one of those guys who always did really well in school by studying hard and focusing; so the fact that he's impotent and is trying hard not to be with Patti is extra frustrating because he's used to accomplishing his goals if he puts his mind to it.
I want to know what Patti did to Ines to make her so hatefully sleep with Ricardo with no remorse.
I haven't commented for quite awhile but still reading recaps and following the show. Many thanks to AdrianaNoel and NovelaMan!!! I wanted to tell Ariel he might have better luck in the bedroom if he ditched the starched navy blue PJs, but after tonight I guess it doesn't matter.
Can't believe it is already etapa culminante, this is the shortest novela I've ever seen.
J in Oregon
The game changer
Bruno and Bianca are in the new love nest, making love on the couch, while Ariel keeps calling Bianca.
Francisca has a talk with Nico about the new company's stock raising to much, but Nico doesn't think it's a big deal. After that, Francisca talks to Ariel about Nico and how they need to keep him busy; she is a little surprised that now, when he is a partner at the company he is also so friendly with Guillermo, again.
When Bianca calls Ariel Francisca feels that something is wrong between the two, but Ariel denies it. He asks his sister for help in choosing a jewelery for Bianca for their one year anniversary.
Bruno and Bianca are still at the new place, both naked on the couch, thinking about what comes next. Bruno says he will find a solution for the situation they are in. Bianca tells him that ever since they made love in the taller she couldn't be with Ariel again and he is pressuring her.
Finally she leaves, after they decide he will stay "gone" for some time and they will meet in the new house in the meantime.
Flavia is back home and Bianca notices that she is kind of pale and skinny, so Flavia makes up an excuse about getting food poison while away. Ariel comes home, too, he is very upset and restless.
Nina and Santi spend the night with Deniz, when they are away in the guest room Yair tells Deniz he is not leaving the Piamontes after all. Naturally, she wants to know what changed his mind; Yair is about to tell her the whole truth, even admits to not seeing Nina on the balcony with Bruno, but before he confesses everything he loses the nerve to do it (again).
Later, when he is gone, Deniz and Nina talk about the strange reason why Yair decided to stay, after all. Nina thinks that he just made up the excuse about needing to stay to protect the family, but Deniz feels there is something wrong with his story about simply having a change of heart.
Before going to bed, Nina calls Bruno, asks him when he will be back - not for a while, Bruno answers, while seated on the bed of his new love nest.
Guillermo and Nico met and talk about the new company and the stock being to high; Nico asks his dad to stop buying because Ariel and Francisca will get suspicious. In the meantime Nuria tells Penelope that Nico and Guillermo have a new business together. In the evening Penelope warns Nico about betraying Ariel who has only helped him, but Nico is very vague about the whole thing.
Ariel and Bianca fight in the living room because he is drinking to much and she is rejecting him again. She goes to their room, while Ariel drinks some more. When he finally goes up, too, he is so drunk and upset that she hasn't been with him for two whole weeks (oh, please..!), that he starts to trash the bedroom and finally forces himself on her. Yap, Ariel totally rapes Bianca.
After, he is completely shocked about what he did, but Bianca is far worse. She goes to the bathroom, takes a bath and after that packs a bag and leaves the house. Ariel is in the taller, drinking some more, Yair sees him. Flavia sees Bianca leave, but Bianca is in no mood to chat.
She ends up at Bruno's new place, crying. She doesn't want to tell him what happened, but eventually caves in and says that Ariel forced himself on her.
Loads of pillow talk from Balmy and Guerra in the hotel. Guerra: Were you this fiery and passionate with her (his wife)? Balmy: Don't ask me about that. Guerra is in love, but horrible. How do you ask a man about his dead wife as if she's some threat? The way Guerra expresses love is so immature and selfish.
Balmy heads off to the precinct and interviews Gaston about what he knows about Gabriele Suarez and Tigre. Gaston says Gaby didn't set the mine explosion and says the responsible parties are Anibal, Julio and Guerra...The last name leaves Balmy bien impactado and makes Gaston suspect, which he tells Vero, that Balmy and Guerra have a relationship.
At the cloob, we see Balmy and Guerra and Guerra kisses him in public. Vero shows up just in time to see the kiss. After Guerra leaves to go away a bit Vero tells Balmy to try and maintain his objectivity since it's obvious he and Guerra have a relationship. He tries to deny it, but Vero reminds him, I'm not gossiping, I saw you kiss her 5 minutes ago...in public.
Two tables over we find out that yes, Virginia, Cecilia is preggers. She can't eat her lunch, while Valentina is hungry to make up for all the time she's in the hospital. Valentina says "You may be pregnant; let's go get some pregnancy tests and find out now." They do that, buying four different brands of tests and they all come up positive. Dice Valentine: Ceci, estas embarazadisma! You are really pregnant! Ceci is impactada. "I can't be pregnant. I'm too young; Me and David are too young to be parents. I'm gonna end up like all the women in my family pregnant and cleaning and doing drudgery. Veronica is gonna be so ticked off at me. She's given a chance to study and this happens!" Wise stuff from a girl who still had sex with David without protection after being told by Ale and Vero to use protection. Oh yeah, Guerra hears all of this (but is unseen) as she's entering the bathroom. She says outside the girls' hearing that the pregnancy won't come to term...Sounds like a job for Macario Sicario--interrumpidor de embarazos.
At the hospital we see Irene and Ale around Lucia and they start a mini-fight. Lucia tells them to please stop! I can hear you and it upsets me. Ale promises the arguments won't happen in front of her again. Irene looks guilty and agrees. She leaves and Ale stays with Lucia. Ale asks about the duende. "Oh, he's a great cook and does so much!" Sayeth Ale ironically: What a useful and domestic duende! Is he affectionate with your mother? Sayeth Lucia: Yes! He isn't at all jealous, but he knows the duende is an actual guy and not a figment of Lucia's imagination.
Irene is back at home and hugs it out with Lucho. She finally gets that she's making her daughter sick with her arguing, but she says they were arguing because of Lucho since Ale saw his shirt. She's glad Ale is jealous because that will help him come back. (Um, I don't think so; but delusion is one of Irene's specialties). Irene tells Lucho when she married she expected it to be forever. Lucho commiserate saying she was cheated on and deceived by Alejandro and pobrecita and all that. Oh, Lucho! sayeth Irene, you are the only one who understands me!(I have to call major shenanigans on the Irene rehabilitation tour, because Irene was the one who tricked and deceived Alejandro. And all the clues she got during their engagement that he only married her to make sure Lucia was legitimate told her loud and clear her marriage wasn't gonna work.)
Ricardo goes around looking as guilty as homemade sin about Dr. Ines. At his visit with Constanza, he's distant and jittery when Coni asks about Patti. At home when Patti asks him to help her tuck in Ricardito and asks him if he's gonna go back to the therapist, Ricardo raises his voice at Patti "Ya, ya, me tiene harto!"-Enough already I'm sick and tired of this!-and storms out the room. Patti is only semi-shocked and definitely suspects something is wrong.
Back at the cloob, Ceci tells David she's pregnant. He immediately says, This baby can't be born! Wrong answer, kiddo! Ceci runs out the cloob, and David runs after her, after Val tells him to, and he catches up and says "OMG, We're too young for this and I don't have a job in my profession." Ceci: "But you were real macho enough to knock me up though. Get away from me and don't touch me." Max tells Val he'd be glad if she got pregnant, and Val side-eyes the heck out of Max: "You want me to get pregnant?" No, but I would be glad if it happened, hinting that they'd just get married immediately and smiling broadly. Score 1 for Max.
David runs after Ceci to Vero's and argue in front of her. Ceci runs to her room and David tells Vero that Ceci is pregnant. Vero has a talk with the kid and boy, is it a doozy! Of course she asks "What are you going to do?" He hints at an abortion since the baby "is just a bunch of cells" which sends Vero into a rant of epic porportions. She reveals way too much about her identity because this is so personal. She has a flashback to her running from her rapist Fer. She tells David "How are you going to kill your child? You were just a bunch of cells at one point but your mother didn't abort you! This kid needs a father, just like you needed one and your father wasn't there and was awful. Don't act like him." David says "Hold up! What do you know about my life? Who are you to have an opinion on my life?" And then Vero gives him a slap she put her back into. David is rubbing his face, looks at Vero equally upset, but sensing that this conversation is deeper than it seems; while Vero looks guilty as if she realizes she said way too much. (I have a feeling David is gonna figure it out before Alejandro that Vero is Gaby because their interactions have been very personal.)
We now have Ricardo starting to slip from his noble status, not telling his mother or his wife the truth. As for Ines, of course she's horrible and unethical, but I don't think she's trying to hurt Pati or anything, she's just "in love", just like all our other deluded characters who think one sided love can work.
Balmy (great name there) is definitely conflicted. A few episodes ago, we thought he was gonna play Antonia like a fiddle to get info. But last night, Antonia told Anibal SHE was gonna play BALMY like a fiddle! That relationship is very entertaining now, filled with sparks of passion, and it could go either way for both of them.
More mixed signals from Tigre. Max asks Tigre for a definite sign, but I guess there's too much interference, since even when Tigre spills Max's lunch on his lap, nobody's sure (except us) if Tigre approves or disapproves of Gaston.
Vero announced that Gaston's mayoral campaign will be officially launched the day the new hospital opens, I think. I didn't even know one was being built.
So after Vero and Guerra had visited Gertrudis, now we have Anibal, again, with no security, whatever. I think she might have rambled about Coni being alive, but Anibal is clueless, so that's no problem at this point.
The writers are doing a good job of letting one little secret come out each episode or so, so they can drag out the show for a while. I agree, David may find out about Gaby pretty soon. He can probably keep it quiet.
So today we got the confirmation that there is no truly good guy in PP.
First, Nico is obviously working with his father to cause troubles for Ariel. Even if he is not doing anything himself, the fact that he knows what Guillermo is doing is bad enough.
But who can care about Nico today, when Ariel, the sainted patriarch of the Piamonte family, just abused his wife because she hadn't slept with him in the last 2 weeks (!!!). I would have never thought that a man his age has so much passion bottled up inside...
Joke aside, the whole story is truly disgusting. I don't care that Bianca cheated, he didn't know that; even if he DID know, even if Bianca had cheated with Bruno, Yair, Don Salo, the horses at Francisca's ranch, she still wouldn't have deserved what she got.
This only gives Bianca a very good reason to leave him. And honestly, who can blame her at this point?
And Bruno will have to keep quiet about the whole messy affair, if they don't want to be discovered.
I wonder what would Deniz, Francisca, Nina or Yair think of Ariel if they knew what he did.
I have to say, I am truly surprised that it took Ariel two weeks of getting rejected in bed and some booze to turn into such a violent man. Fighting, I get, even some sort of violence, like pushing her or something similar, but this seems so extreme.
J In Oregon, they already finished filming and as far as I know they were about two months in advance. So, I guess the TN will be over by July?
Clara, I forgot to mention this in the recap, but Katia finds out Flavia was in the hospital, she had a lump in her breast - so I was right about that part, and so were you when you mentioned the actress already played a similar part in another TN; but this time it looks like it wasn't cancer, just a scare.
Thanks J desde NYC for the excellent recap. I loved your take on Irene: "She's glad Ale is jealous because that will help him come back. (Um, I don't think so; but delusion is one of Irene's specialties)."
Ceci's pregnancy is causing problems all over town. Antonia of course is not pleased - David is panicked - Poncia is impactada - and Vero and David have an argument and Vero loses it.
I am so hoping Macario doesn't get to that poor girl. I know Vero will think of Ceci's safety after she calms down and smooths things over with David, but Antonia certainly has Ceci in her sights.
I thought David started using protection right after "the talk" and that this pregnancy was the result of their prior activity. Ceci had the best line of the episode when David told her, "OMG, We're too young for this, and I don't have a job in my profession", and she responded, "But you were real macho enough to knock me up though."
Paty definitely suspects something is up with Ricardo's therapy. There must be some history between these two women. Ines is despicable! Ricardo is going to need another shrink to help undo the damage Ines is doing.
LOL - "I have a feeling David is gonna figure it out before Alejandro that Vero is Gaby...." So true!
Beth
I saw the original version of the rape two weeks ago on YouTube. I hoped the rape wouldnt happen in the remake but it did. Just like Biancas cold blooded abortion.
At this point i doubt that PP will have a happy ending. It will probably be like the original. Capitulos culminantes already? Why? Low ratings?
Dont wanna sound mean but i guess the rape was karma for the abortion....
Nevertheless i lost all respect for Ariel.
for got to mention 2 things.
I thought it was funny when Katia got all emotional over Flavias illness. She always treats the poor maid like S***. I guess Katia has a heart after all. TBH i always thought she was kind of a nuetral character not really good or evil.
Bruno is living alone in the country. Doesnt he get scared? The house (while pretty) looks like horror movie bait to me.
Yes AdrianaNoel, "the game changer," and thanks for recapping it.
I too was pretty surprised at Ariel's extreme behavior. Guess we're sposed to blame it on the booze? "It's your obligation as mi mujer."
Katia/Flavia, I was watching for Katia's eyeroll, but Katia seemed to show genuine empathy, also surprising.
NovelaMan, for the first time last night I thought ...someone might end up dead.
So Bruno is going to stay inside that house indefinitely? Can't go out, his pic is on that mag cover. House looks pricey, isn't he broke? What's next? Will Bruno confront his tio?
Well, if we're going to July, not so "culminante" after all. Maybe meant to mark shift to this darker tone, like "nueva etapa."
Clara
Thanks so much J desde NYC. This was a great recap. Yes, Ceci's pregnancy is shaking things up, and not just for teens. Vero better put a few guards on Ceci.
By the way, did the guards who followed Lucho last episode see that he went to Irene's house and report back to Vero? It seems like that would have been a plot point had Vero learned where he's staying.
This was such a heavy episode, I didn't even feel the need to make fun and snark like I usually do. It is so unusual to see main heroines get raped in TN, it almost never happens.
I don't think Bianca, or any other woman ever deserves this, but I hope Bianca will at least use this to distance herself from Ariel for good. Until now she barely tolerated him around her, but at least she cared about him and he had her respect - now I think it's safe to say all that is over. She can't go back to him now, right? Unless Bruno does something stupid.
I wish he would go punch Ariel, that is what a man in love would do, but I have a feeling Bruno will just sit back...sadly.
NovelaMan, I know what happens in the original version, too, I watched some scenes a while back and although I don't understand the language, I got the basic ideas. I never mention this because I think some of it might be considered spoiler. The clips are all over the Internet, anyway, for anyone who is curious.
Clara, what bothered me the most was the fact that Ariel was upset they hadn't slept together for 2 weeks. I'm sorry, but I don't think that is such a long time for him to get that mad, not to mention abusive. Whatever he does from now on, his character is forever tarnished.
Etapa culminante could go on for a couple of weeks, and then we go into etapa final and so on.
The original had only about 80 episodes - an hour and a half long, so I guess PP could go for 100.
I guess Bruno is not completely broke, didn't he get some money from his uncle from Columbia? We never heard any of that again...
Terrific recap, JdesdeNYC. I loved all your snarky asides!
Vivi, I thought we saw part of Vero's conversation with the guards that gave me the impression that Lucho gave them the slip. She said: Don't blame yourself; after all we call him Houdini. BTW, I get a kick of how they say HOWdini.
Hombre, I guess you're right about Inés not being so much unethical as the victim of one of those fatal telenovela loves for a person who doesn't love you. But it still bugs me the way she's trying to WORK him. She's hinted that maybe he doesn't really love Patti (speaking as his therapist!) and that perhaps a new love would be the right thing for him (as his therapist). Gah!
I'm sure Guerra won't be able to have Cecilia kicked into a miscarriage. She may try, but something will prevent it. Fetuses (feti?) are sacred in telenovelas that take place in Mexico.
Thanks Novelera. That makes sense.
As for the fetus being sacred...well, the writers did allow Gabi to get the baby beaten out of her...
I've seen a bunch of tns where a character loses her baby either to natural causes, an accident, or malicious intent. It's the abortion thing that's usually a no-no, although from time to time (rarely) even that happens.
Absolutely no one is happy about that pregnancy. Antonia may resort to some kind of poison or herb thing since she definitely doesn't want anymore e peasant blood in the family.
I wasn't surprised that Vero lost it when David mouthed off at her. That kid has deserved a good hard slap for some time.
Really surprised that Balmy was stupid enough to play kisy face in the infamous CLOUB where evry gossip in town can see.
Vivi, what I meant to say and didn't really do was that one fetus kicked out of a woman in this novela used up the whole Mexican quota for a year! And thus I think Ceci's baby will stay put.
"Culminante"
I looked it up, and it does not mean what I thought [coming to an end]. Actually, it means more like "game changer": to reach the highest point or degree, to come to full effect, summit, top, in astronomy means the highest point in sky and in nautical terminology, high tide.
ITA AdrianaNoel, 2 weeks is ridiculous! I wasn't trying to excuse Ariel by mentioning alcohol. Lost all respect, he went from gracious wealthy man to piggy man who thinks he's entitled to what he wants whenever he wants it.
And, Deniz is way too good for him! They can't end up together now.
Agree that Bruno will probably sit back and pretend to be in LA.
Clara
Clar, it's true, culminante doesn't mean the end, it's the part when serious stuff happens, the peak of the story.
But anyway, the end is not that far, I believe we have about 2 more months of shows (or less).
There are no more words left to be said about Ariel; his reaction was not only completely stupid and violent, it was also totally out of character.
I'm starting to feel really sorry for Bianca, because if Bruno doesn't react in some way sooner or later, she will be all alone.
(if I got all of this right)
in Telemundo speak,
"etapa culminante" (culminating stage) refers to the final stage of the novela where everything comes together which generally lasts a couple of months,
(an explanation I read once was that novelas are basically in three parts, the first when cast and plots are introduced, the second where the story is developed and moves along, and the third where everything comes together and culminates),
next comes "últimas semanas", last weeks, and is generally 2 to 4 weeks,
and then comes "últimas capitulos", last chapters, which is 1 or 2 weeks,
then the "gran final"
thanks all for your comments,
I don't know what to say after last night.
What the????? This is going to be totally redundant after what everyone else has said, but this was SUCH a bizarre episode. I almost wonder if the writers suddenly thought "oh, crap... we need to do something to make Ariel less honorable so a B/B relationship would seem less sleazy!" It was such a drastic change of character, with virtually no build-up, and a RIDICULOUS excuse (if it weren't such a dark moment, I would have laughed out loud at the "2 week" defense!)--it really seems like a desperate play on the part of the writers.
I always wondered how they would make B/B a happy ending with Ariel in the mix... and now I see how they might be trying to do it.
I don't see Bruno as being a wimp about the whole thing... I think he's still trying to process what happened and reconcile it with the "father figure" he thought he knew all his life, but trying to give Bianca what she needs being in such a raw and sensitive state, I loved his sweet and sincere declarations of love and his gentleness with her, rather than crowding her and overwhelming her with outbursts of rage...
And I am SO BUMMED about Nico. I hope he steps it up and redeems himself fast. I really like him and penelope together, and I'm thinking this could cost him his marriage...
Wow. Still reeling from this weird turn of events.
AnotherAmy
Bruno and Bianca are at the new house, Bianca is crying and telling Bruno what happened; he is very upset, listens to her. Eventually she falls asleep on the couch, he stands by her side the entire night.
In the morning she is still feeling miserable, Bruno prepares her breakfast, but she can't eat. Later, she is the one who prepares something to eat and it's kind of strange to see Bianca actually interested in feeding her man, because she never used to do that with Ariel - so it has to be a love thing for her.
When Ariel calls, Bruno advices Bianca to answer, so this way he won't go looking for her. Ariel apologizes, wants her to come home, but she won't hear any of this. After she hangs up and goes for a walk with Bruno, she tells him she decided she wants a divorce.
Back at the house, Ariel wakes up feeling horribly. He keeps remembering what he did and when he finds out that Bianca didn't sleep at home, he calls and begs her to come back. Flavia, who knows something is very wrong, asks Ariel to have patience with Bianca, consider her young age. Because, OF COURSE, Flavia thinks this is all Bianca's fault. Ariel tells her to stay away from this, but Flavia calls Bianca and then Penelope to try to find out what happened. She overhears Ariel talking with Bianca on the phone and how he apologizes, but I don't think she gets what happened, even if she did see the room all messed up the night before.
The rest of the household knows something is wrong, too. Katia and Yair saw Bianca leave and now the rest know she didn't sleep at home, too. But they all think she did something to make Don Ariel be so upset.
Nina and Santi get back to the house as Nina receives a call from Eliana. They meet and Eliana begs Nina to drop the charges against her because now she knows Nina was not the other woman in Bruno's life - because he is right now here, in Miami, in a house he just rented, with the woman he has been cheating on her with.
Nina doesn't believe Eliana, she swears Bruno is still in LA, but Eliana shows her the picture of the house where Bruno now lives and tells Nina she will even give her the address.
I'm surprised that Bianca would feel so comfortable near Bruno after being raped. Even if she loves him, as far as I know that is not normal behavior for an abused person - she doesn't want touches, hugs, kisses! - can't stand to have any men around. But I guess we are supposed to suspend our disbelief in this situation, which is meant to imply that Bianca only has Bruno left now.
Even her mother, after hearing that something went terribly wrong the night before, still urges Bianca to come home (via text message), blaming her just because.
I guess when you are the main cause of all the other fights and arguments it is easy for people to blame you this time, too, but still, the fact that Flavia is so quick to jump to Ariel's defense, is upsetting. I wonder how she will behave when/ if she finds out the truth.
Also, why was Bruno so surprised to hear that Bianca wants a divorce? Is she supposed to go back to an abusive husband that she didn't love in the first place? He is very understanding and all, but shouldn't he show some kind of rage right now? He says he is surprised his uncle would do such a thing, but his reaction is almost to calm, like he still considers Ariel more important than Bianca, even after everything that he's done.
Another Amy, I don't think the rape means a happy ending for B&B is more possible. I think this is just the last straw that Bianca needed to finally let go of her marriage, but this time without any kind of guilt involved.
But I don't see Bruno jumping to the same conclusion. He keeps saying he will be there for her, but what he does in the next few weeks is very important.
If the news of their connection is ever found out, wouldn't it be better for them to say that they got close after her trauma, this way putting some of the blame on Ariel? Sure, it wouldn't be the truth, but it would be a getaway.
I wonder if Flavia would blame Bianca if she found out Ariel raped her daughter.
AdrianaNoel i also would like to see the clans reaction regarding the rape. But im thinking Ariel will do what he can to hush it up.
Wanted Bruno to give Ariel a beating but of course its not gonna happen. It was hard for him to believe the man he loved like a father would do such a thing!
But at least he believes in Bianca and is caring for her.
It's the grand opening of the new hospital. Lucho, in another (not) clever disguise shows up, and Alejandro immediately spots him. So does Anibal. But Lucho's slippery, and manages to eventually get away, despite pursuit by Gonzalez and Balmy. The last place he was seen was right near Irene's house. Alejandro's brain is ticking, ticking, can he figure this out? Let's see, duende, disguise, Irene, nah, brainstrain too much! BTW, Lucia forgot to bring her wool cap to set, she's got a full head of hair back today.
Inés sees Ricardo at the hospital grand opening, and actually manages to get him into a storeroom where they have sex again! Pati arrives, says honey, your hair is all wet. He says he just washed up in the bathroom. Inés adds, that's what happens when you heat up alot! Pati doesn't catch this part.
Balmy visits Lagarto in jail. Just tell us who gave the orders. Look bud, he replies, I got no kidney, probably won't walk again, and I'm already facing life in prison. What benefit would I get if I talk? A reduced sentence. Oh yeah, I'd probably be killed. So he's not talking. But he asks Balmy, can you just tell me who shot me? Balmy ain't talkin' either. Cops leave, Macario enters, Lagarto, you destroyed my ranch, you're a dead man, I've got friends in here. But not yet. I'll decide when. Ooooooo, sinister!
David decides to man up and support Ceci and the baby (after being told to do so by Vero and Ale). He's also ready to marry her, but Antonia of course wants to nix that. She's also dreaming of giving the baby "the boot" (flashing on Macario). No!
Francisca admits to Valentina that she didn't totally split with Gaston voluntarily, she loves him, it just happened slowly, from almuerzo, to amigos, to amore. Val sympathizes with her and wants Max to do so, too. But he says he'd rather his mother be DEAD than with a new guy!
Bruno's reaction, you could just see the wheels turning, "how is this going to affect me?" Tho overall he behaved well. I was afraid he might try to minimize it or tell Bianca she was over-reacting.
I too thought she wouldn't have wanted him to be so touchy with her right after.
Flavia, even tho she saw the BR totally trashed, I think she is assuming Bianca at fault since not only does she know Bianca's personality, but she knows about Bianca's attraction to Bruno. I'm sure she thinks it was a verbal argument provoked by Bianca, maybe even that it was Bianca who wrecked the furniture.
If/when Flav learns the truth she will defend Bianca.
Yes, I want rapist Ariel exposed. I want to see the reactions of Nina, Deniz, Francisca, well, everybody in the house!
Thanks AdrianaNoel, deb, for chiming in on my "culminante" confusion. As a visitor from Univision/Televisa, I didn't know this Telemundo-speak. Glad we're not ending really soon.
Clara
Thanks, Hombre! Loved "ticking, ticking..brainstorm too much".
They said something about "días después" and then showed Lucía with all that hair. I was going: What?
Also, Lagarto said he might never walk again, but he looked pretty hale and hearty standing in his cell.
Antonia was beside herself with rage, saying Vero "humiliated" her. Well, unless you know full well you're guilty of what Vero was hinting at, I don't know if the dots would be connected that easily.
I couldn't BELIEVE what Max said. He'd rather Francisca be dead than with Gastón. I hope Valentina breaks it off with him over that. He doesn't deserve his mother or Val.
David and Ceci were so cute watching their "dot" on the sonogram screen. Do they really do sonograms that early? Oh well, it was nice to see how thrilled David was.
Inés is a few bricks short of a full pallet. She told Ricardo that she normally didn't have sex with patients unless they were a real "challenge". So she boosts her ego seducing really desperate cases of impotence, feeling a real rush about it.
So two formerly heroic guys are rapidly falling from grace: Ricardo and Rodrigo, both blinded by hot sex.
I know Patti cheated, but only after many, many years of marriage without sex. And Ricardo is not only cheating, he's snarling at Patti when she tries to be close to him.
So right about now the only man I admire is Gastón!
Since El Tigre Suárez now has a good sized role in El Señor de los Cielos, I wonder if he was always meant to be killed off early - or if they improvised that.
Dr Ines and Ricardo-Ugh! When Patti finds out she'll probably leave or get real upset. I'm still blaming Ines for most of this fracaso because she's the powerful person in the situation. She knows better and should do better. Ric had stopped going to see her as well and she cornered him at the hospital opening. Ricardo, as quiet as he is, seems to thrive on drama in his relationships with women. He doesn't kiss or cuddle with Patti until her Mom dies. He diesn't go to counseling until after her father dies. He didn't marry her, even though he was attracted to her until she gets knocked up by Alberto.
What Hombre and I meant by the hair is that a few days ago she was still wearing the ski cap on her head. And then suddenly she's shown with a full head of hair that almost reached the base of her neck. Shouldn't there have been inch-long hair instead?
Obviously they are not going to shave a little girl's head for the role, but they could have come up with something shorter than that to look a bit more realistic.
Thanks so much Hombre - great recap. I loved "Alejandro's brain is ticking, ticking, can he figure this out? Let's see, duende, disguise, Irene, nah, brainstrain too much!" Too funny!
I too was surprised by Lucia's hairdo. It was too long for so brief a time lapse. A 1/2 to 1 inch length would fit one to two months of growth after chemo. Also it had a bit of the Irene look to it. I didn't care for it very much.
So Macario is making jail house calls. And Lagarto is not looking so smug now. I thought Macario told Lagarto that he would end up killing himself to escape his suffering.
I did think Antonia looked great at the hospital dedication. That blouse was designer gorgeous.
It looked to me like Paty was once again suspicious of Ines when Ines left the hospital. I think Paty may figure out what's wrong with Ricardo before Alejandro's ticking brain can put 1 and 1 together.

wow,
it was driving me nuts that junior detective Nina was so bad at discovering the Bruno/Bianca secret,
so much that Bruno had to drive all the way back from the store to prove that she is right,
(I mean duh, Ariel raped her and Bruno was comforting her,
Bruno/Bianca are so good at cooking up the drama,
only good people that care, can be this bad at covering their tracks)
not only that, but who bought Nina a car, the whole household was traumatized at the thought that she would go out by herself,
bad, bad, Eliana, reading Bruno's emails, and Nina stopped by alone, I'm thinking Eliana has been looking at these home made bomb web sites and is on some terrorist list,
and I'm guessing that Nina is a real woman now,
now that Bruno is teaching her to lie like an adult.
Deb, I was in a constant state of eye roll when Nina said she wanted to go out, meet a friend and everybody was so worried - if you want her to become a woman, start treating her like one!!!
I don't know what was going on with Bruno, showing himself to Nina; didn't Bianca tell him she was leaving and that he should duck and cover, so to speak... Did he think she was already gone or did he want to be discovered?
Oh, dear, Nina is such a pest! What business is it of hers if Bruno has a woman with him? He could be hooking up with the entire volleyball team, it would still not be any of her business (or her family's) - Ariel says he wants Bruno to grow up, finish college, but if he truly means it maybe he should stop indulging him so much, with new cars and fancy engagement parties, not to mention the money he gives him every month.
Oh, and by the way, when is Bruno supposed to finish his "carera"? The school year is over, wasn't he supposed to get his degree and then marry Eliana at the end of summer?
Oh, well, with everything else happening I think that is the least of our worries.
Isn't it funny how Ariel seems to be more hurt about the rape than Bianca? He keeps remembering it, he looks like a caged man (as he should), but Bianca doesn't look that bad, really... I'm not trying to minimize what happened, I just think this is very poor writing.
Also, I'm not liking Bruno very much these days...I don't know why, but I expect more from him - he keeps saying that he will stand by Bianca, but I really, REALLY don't believe him. This would be a good moment to do something, Bianca is more than ready to kiss Ariel goodbye, but Bruno is still weighting in his options, as far as I can tell.
To be honest I think we constantly give Bruno a pass because JC is drop dead gorgeous - but Bruno is another story - when Nina asked him what he does to women to turn them all crazy, I saw it as a big red herring: Eliana has already lost it, Bianca is in a very fragile state and Nina...has never been to sane to begin with.
Poncia, who was visiting Cecilia, is shocked to see Constanza! Vero has to tell her the truth, she and Coni were in the mental hospital, abused, Coni was locked up for years, and yes, she's Gabriela! Poncia tells HER story, I think her husband caused her to lose her baby (kicking?), and stabbed him to death. Antonia covered it all up, but has that hold on her. Poncia agrees to stay mum.
Max, after drinking a bit with David, feeling a little guilty about saying he'd prefer his Mom dead than with Gaston, sees Lucas. He apparently knows Lucas framed him for Alberto's murder, and proceeds to beat Lucas very badly, in full view of many people, despite David's attempts to cool him down.
Lucas, bloody and angry, goes to the cemetery, sees Francisca, throws a rock, hits her in the head, really hard! He flees (2 bystanders saw him), and Francisca is taken to the hospital. Gaston, Valentina and David are waiting to see if she'll live (Vero can't come, she doesn't want to be tied to Francisca, already feels this was her fault, since Lucas was the son of one of the miners killed in the explosion).
Francisca flatlines, but as her ghost goes to meet with the ghost of Tigre, he tells her, it's not your time yet, go back with Max and Gaston. She's happy, reinhabits her body, and the doctors, who have shocked her about 15 times, are happy she's back to life, it's a miracle!
Max is told, is deeply relieved, and when David shows him how Gaston was also moved to tears (as was I), Max may now accept Gaston. Fran knows she now has Tigre's blessing, too. Yay!
Alejandro is really starting to think that the duende is Lucho. He asks Ricardo to get him a picture of Lucho (to show to Lucia). Ric thinks, no way would Lucho be with Irene, she's so classy and he's so lowlife (Ric has even less of a clue than Ale).
And Irene and Lucho do the deed! Yes, she was drunk, but he told her of his orphaned childhood, had to steal food, and learn to cook it, he's teaching her, too. She half heartedly tried to stop him, but after moving into a different room, and saying I hope I won't regret it in the morning, the clothes came off. Her face the next morning when she sees they're both naked in bed was classic!
Eliana tells Nina that Bruno is not in a hotel in LA but in the house in the outskirts of Miami. She gives Nina an iPad and shows him pictures of Brunos hideout. Nina figures out that Eliana got the information by hacking Brunos email. Eli says it was wrong but Nina can use that info.
Deniz tells the servants that they should keep the incident a secret. Salo says Deniz wants to tell lies. Deniz means that they should keep the secret to not upset Nina. Besides, Bianca could come back soon. Cele doesn’t think Bianca will come back soon. Deniz tells the servants to let Ariel and Bianca solve their problems. She gets a call from Francis and heads upstairs. Francis asks how the kids are reacting to the news. Deniz tells Francis that they don’t know what happened. She (Deniz) doesn’t even know herself. Francis tells her that Ariel and Bianca got in some sort of argument last night and that Bianca left. Ariel is depressed.
As B&B are watching a horror film, Bruno asks Bianca if shes pregnant. Since she was raped there it’s a possibility. Bianca says shell leave if shes giving Bruno problems. He says shes not a problem. Bianca says he wouldn’t want to raise someone elses kid. Bruno insists he would leave everything for her.
Nina still thinks Eli is crazy. Eli says that even if she is crazy, Bruno lied. He has a lover. Nina asks if Eli saw the lovers emails. Eli says Bruno isn’t that dumb to leave clues behind. Nina tells her to stop obsessing over Bruno. Eli says Nina should still check the address.
Bruno is outside when Nina calls him she asks how he is. He lies saying he was just on a beach. He asks why Nina called him. Nina says she talked to Eli. She cant pay the $2 mil lawsuit. Bruno says the lawyers will take care of that. Bruno says he will stay maybe longer than 2 weeks. Its clear that Nina has her doubts. Bruno enters his house to tell Bianca about Nina call. When Bianca asks if Nina was crying about Ariel, Bruno tells her he doesn’t think Nina even knows about the fight. Bianca says she will soon enough. Bruno want to go out and Bianca asks him to buy wine. He caresses her and says he’ll get wine.
The Pig cant tell Francis that he raped his wife. He just says that they got in a fight and he hurt his love. Francis says that he should apologize and call Bianca. Ariel says Bianca wont call back. Francis asks “was it that bad?” Ariel replies “So bad that I think ive lost her for good”
Ivan calls Flav. She tells him that Bianca got in an argument with Ariel. Ivan asks if Flav told her daughters about her problem. She hasn’t. Ivan says they agreed she would. Flav says its not easy. When Ivan asks to meet her in the afternoon, Kat bursts in saying Pen is waiting for Flav in the living room. Flav says she’ll talk to Ivan later. Flav meets Pen in the living room. Kat asks the two if they need anything. They don’t and she is shooed away. Flav still blames Bianca about the “argument” and Pen thinks Bianca may be cheating on Ariel. Flav says she doesn’t want to think that, but then again it may be true.
Nina shows up at the House of Horrors. Bianca is eating grapes and watching tv when Nina rings the doorbell. Bianca walks up to answer. Nina calls for Bruno. Biancs locks all the doors and tries to hide. She calls Bruno and tells her Nina showed up. Bruno says “That’s impossible. Nina cant know”. “But shes here” Bianca responds “She hasn’t seen me yet but don’t know what to do”. Bruno says he go over there. Bianca says she doesn’t want he to. Bruno tells Bianca to calm down and let him try to fix the situation.
Paula calls Nina saying she lied for her (Deniz apparently called Paula asking for Nina). Paula asks if Nina if with Sebastian again. Nina says she isn’t. She promises to tell Paula whats going on after she completes her investigation.
Flav and Pen doubt Bianca is cheating but is possible. Flav aks Pen to call Bianca. Biancas phone rings and Nina hears it she gets closer to the door.
Pen hangs up since Bianca wont answer. Nina is still at the House of Horrors. Nina is heading to a direction where Bianca can be spotted. To stop this, Bianca calls Nina and asks where she is. She lies saying she is with Paula at the mall. Bianca says have fun and hangs up.
Ariel has a flashback to the rape. (If only Francis knew)
Bianca calls Bruno to tell her that Nina is trying to open the Garage. She will find Brunos car if she opens it. Bruno plans to park far yet close so Bianca can escape the House of Horrors.
Flav says even if it takes a million times Pen needs to call Bianca. As she is leaving Pen runs into Deniz. Ariel then calls Deniz (Flav is spying on her) and asks that Yair bring him his clothes. Ariel will stay at his sisters house for a few more days. Deniz says she will have Tere pack his stuff and look after the kids. Flav asks Deniz if something happened. Deniz tells her Ariel will be gone for a few more days.
Nina calls Eli and says there is no one in the house. Eli says Nina isn’t looking hard enough but Nina says Eli is crazy and needs to leave her alone.
Kat is mopping the floor, Cele and Salo are cooking, Tere is doing the dishes when Deniz asks Yair to prepare the car and Tere to pack Ariels clothes. Deniz tells the other 3 not to say a word about anything.
Bruno shows up to get Bianca and she asks him to hide. But he runs into Nina. Nina says Eli was right after all. Bruno doesn’t understand. Nina says Eli knows his email password. Bruno says he got tired of LA and came back to Florida. Nina doesn’t believe him. If hes not lying he should let her in. Bianca is outside and presumably escapes the House of Horrors. Nina is led inside. Bruno says it was just him. Nina says the TV is on she heard a phone ring and it smells like a womans perfume. Bruno tells Nina he is tired of her and should leave him alone. She walks away. Bruno apologizes to get in her face. To make up for it he will return home tonight.
Francis asks Ariel to confess but he wont. She cant help him if he wont. He says its hard. She wont judge him. He made a serious mistake. Apologizing wont be enough. Francis asks if Bianca wanted a break from him. She then says Love cant save everything.
As Bruno is packing his stuff Nina says Ariel will punish him. Bruno says Nina will get it worse. Neither one should mention the incident. Nina asks Bruno what does he do to women. When he breaks up with them they go crazy. Bruno tells Nina to stop joking but she is serious. Bruno says he forgot something and acts like hes heading to his room but he leaves the back doors open.
Pen calls Bianca and she finally answers. Pen asks her to return home. Bianca says she only answered to let her know she is okay. Pen says Bianca should trust in her but she hangs up.
Bruno asks that Nina keep quiet. Nina will head home first Bruno will later. Bruno calls (Nina makes a crack) Bianca to tell her that Eli figured it out. Bianca accuses him of bringing Eli home. He says the home was for him and Bianca. He tells her to go through the back door and lock all the doors and don’t open for anyone.....
Thanks so much for the Recap, Hombre. Well done!
I loved the scene with Francisca and the ghost of Tigre. It just worked for me. The actress playing Francisca has been consistently good as a humble, yet dignified woman all through the novela.
Max certainly was punished for his self-centered behavior toward his mother, and I'm pretty sure he'll be on board for Gastón and his mother to probably marry sometime soon.
I loved David telling his granny that she'd better call the cops on Lucas or it would be clear she was his accomplice.
I really think Gonzalo García Vivanco has a gift for comedy. He cracked me up last night when Irene started to say no, and he looked toward his nether regions asking: "What am I supposed to do with THIS?" And when he smugly told her the next morning that he lost count after four times. Is it possible these two will end up together as a happy couple?
NovelaMan, thanks a lot! You are onto something with your House of Horrors.
AdrianaNoel is onto something with Bruno being/becoming bad. Bianca saw fear in his eyes. Didn't like that pregnancy talk.
Did seem like Bruno ran into Nina on purpose. Could he be trying to escape the love nest and sabotage things with Bianca?
Clara
Thanks, Hombre, great recap!
It was so good to see Poncia happily walking around Antonia's casa with her Cheshire cat grin now that she knows about Coni and Gaby and knows that retribution is headed in Antonia's and Anibal's direction.
I was glad to see El Tigre tell Francisca that it wasn't her time yet. I'm guessing we'll get to see some sincere tears and apologies from Max tonight.
Four times? Really? Not her husband? Does this mean that Irene is now officially a slut? Someone needs to throw her nasty words back in her face. I hate to condemn Lucho to a life with that b!tch, but I think they'll be together at the end.
