Qué Bonito Amor #73 (Mex 109) Thursday 7/25/13 Que Asco de Baby Daddy

Maria doesn't take the news of the loss of their baby well.  Not at all.

Back at Casa Mendoza, Isa is still being entertained by her new novio.  Kid's got more game than Colosso, Jantos, and Milamores put together!

Gloria arrives at the vecindad just as Rodrigo hops a bus.  I'm not sure she realized that she actually did see him, as opposed to just thinking some random kid looked like him because she missed him so much.

Maria cries.

Justo apparently paid for Amalia's meds in addition to taking her to a specialist.  Instead of just frickin' saying "Thank you and I'll pay you back when I can," she goes on and on about how she shouldn't have let him do it, she shouldn't have accepted it.  But, as Justo says, what's a little expensive medicine between consuegros?  From the waiting area, they hear Maria's cries.

She's blaming herself for not being careful enough.  Amalia blames Jantos for telling her the truth.  You want the truth, you want lies…make up your mind!  The doctor kicks everyone out of the room so she can sedate Maria again. Now she's moved on to denial, mumbling that it's a lie and the baby is alive.

Amalia gives Justo a display of what Jantos has been putting up with all this time, asking him why he didn't lie, damnit!  Jantos tells her to just let it out and let him have all her complaints already.

Concho seems offended at the idea that he could either be or know who Susanito's father is.  He's so disproportionately angry, I'm pretty sure he knows something.

Lalo and Pichi are smudging the bar to get rid of all the negative vibes.  I don't think that's going to get rid of Elvira, but it's worth a try.

Mancia is reading the cards, trying to find out where Irasema is, but she's confused because they're talking about being locked up.  Concho comes a-knocking.

Milamores tells the kid to quit flirting already or he'll be a Mini-Milamores…Milamorecito?...but I think the student has already surpassed the master.  Paloma thinks it's Rodrigo knocking on the door, but instead it's Gloria.

Mancia doesn't want to talk to Concho, but he insists.  He tells her about the picture of them together.  Concho is so loud, Susanito has no trouble overhearing as he approaches the door to the apartment.  Concho demands to know if Susanito is his after that one drunken night they spent together.  I don't know if I'm more squicked out at the thought of Mancia getting it on with Concho or Concho getting it on with Mancia.  Though from the looks of that picture, they were both pretty hot back in the day.

Amalia and Jantos are having a shouting match in the waiting room.  And they're not getting kicked out why?  Jantos demands his fair share of the pity for having lost a child.  Finally the doctor comes out to tell them both to behave.  She's worried that Maria's not going to have a good recovery.  "Are you happy now?" Amalia tells Jantos whatever happens will be all his fault!

Gloria gets the news that Rodrigo is living with Colosso.  Yeah, they're all a bit behind on the news.  Milamores tells her Oscar's really proud of his kid.  Liar!

Colosso gets home and gets pissed because he assumes Rodrigo went to Jantos' house.

Roddy is hitchhiking and meets a nice couple who are also on their way to Monterrey.  Or maybe they're a pair of serial killers, who knows.

Justo tells Jantos to calm down.  Just to clarify JUSTO, who just saw AMALIA-- who has a medical condition that worsens with stress--scream a bunch of utterly unfair BS at his son, told JANTOS to calm down.  Jantos agrees with Amalia that whatever happens is all his fault.  Justo reminds him that his mother always used to say "Time is the only thing capable of understanding and helping a great love."  Jantos doesn't think he has time.  He expects to be caught any time now and he's tired of being in limbo.

Derecho and Curtis summoned OG to tell him about his cousin's murder.  For whatever reason, Curtis lets slip the name of the bar and OG connects it with Maria, since Ruben told him that she sings there.

Mancia calls Concho on his lies--he apparently made a lot of promises he didn't keep.  He says it's just what guys do.  She refuses to tell him if Susanito's his son or not.  Susanito bursts in and says it's time for her to answer the question.

Ana gets a drunken Siete Mares back to her place, but he won't let go of her long enough for her to make him coffee.

Mancia tells Susanito that Concho is, indeed, his daddy.  Poor guy!  That means he's related to Elvira!  As if he wasn't feeling crappy enough already!

OG tells Derecho and Curtis that he doesn't know why Bruno would have gone to the bar, as the only one of them who liked rancheras was Santos.  He denies recognizing any of the names on a list they show him.  Although, Derecho thinks OG was lying and he's starting to think the bar had some role in the money laundering.

Milamores is checking out the stage with Jalisquito.  He's sniffing at the steps and about to scrape at them when Mirna comes in screeching about there being a kid in the bar.  Mirna does her best to keep Milamores from scraping at the steps and she finally wears him down enough to leave with the kid, without collecting his evidence, though he insists that accidents can be provoked.

Concho screams at Mancia that she's a liar and just trying to get money out of him.  Susanito won't have him talking to his mother like that!  Mancia insists she would have told him sooner, but the day she went to tell him, he was so rude and nasty to her he made her feel like the ugliest woman in the world.  "Because you are!  Look in a mirror!"  Dude must have a death wish to talk that way right in front of Susanito!  Susanito tells him to get the hell out.

Siete Mares may not be drowning in drink at the moment, but he's drowning in his sorrows. And possibly going through some sort of withdrawal.  He just wants to die already.

Jantos goes to look at the babies in the nursery.  Cause he wasn't feeling crappy enough already.

Maria comes out of the sedation enough to start crying about the baby.  She freaks out the nurse, rips out her IV, ditches all the wires, and walks out of her room.

Gee, Colosso was so brokenhearted about his kid leaving that he's sitting at the kitchen table having a meal.  Gloria knocks on the door, demanding to know where her son is.

Rodrigo notices that the road they're on doesn't go to Monterrey and asks the nice couple to let him out, but they refuse…cause they're ax murderers, I knew it!  The car doesn't have childproof locks, but the driver grabs his wrist in an effort to keep him from throwing himself out of the car.  Rodrigo gets free and lies on the side of the road, potentially unconscious, as the lady ax murderer tells the driver they can't afford to lose the kid.  Creeps!

Colosso, the giant overgrown child that he is, tells Gloria he lost their kid because "Well, he's always defending the pochito!"  For fuck's sake, Oscar!  Are you even listening to yourself?!  Your kid's lying on the side of the highway somewhere on the way to NOT Monterrey and THAT'S your excuse?  Gloria tells him if anything happens to her kid, she'll rip his cojones off and feed them to his chicken.  OK, no, she says "You'll meet a Gloria you've never met before!"  But I'm sure that's what she meant.  She gives him the death glare on her way out the door.

The ax murderers start to back their SUV up, but a couple of guys in a jeep have already seen Rodrigo and stopped to render aid.  Or not.  They argue about whether they should help him, considering it looked like he was thrown out of the SUV. In the meantime, Rodrigo just lies there.

Amalia defends her bad treatment of Jantos to Justo.  Justo manages to calm her down a tiny bit.  The doctor tells Amalia that Maria forced Jantos to tell her the truth and he was brave to do it.  The nurse comes running in to get the doctor, who tells Amalia and Justo to wait for her, please!

Maria goes to look at the babies in the nursery.  Cause she wasn't feeling crappy enough already.  She goes in and tries to claim a random pink bundle as her own.  A nice nurse comes in and tells her none of those kids is hers and she needs to get out of the nursery.  Said nurse then gets called away before she can get Maria farther away from the bundles.  Maria shuffles down the hallway and cries.  Because this show doesn't have us all feeling crappy enough already.

Jantos hears Maria crying that she wants her baby.  She can't focus on his face as he tells her to calm down.  She won't let him touch her and tells him to get away from her.  She never wants to see him again.  She tells him it's his fault she lost the baby because he wouldn't quit fighting even when he was on the verge of getting arrested.  The doctor, 2 nurses, Amalia, and Justo all come running in as Jantos explains that she's blaming him for what happened.  Maria passes out and Jantos carries her back to her room as the doctor explains to Amalia that Maria is, perfectly normally, being driven crazy by her grief.

Jantos gets her back into bed and the nurses re-attach everything.  This gives him a minute to reflect on her accusations.  Cause he wasn't feeling crappy enough already.

Susanito tells his mom he believes her.  He wants to know why she didn't tell him. He's not happy to find out he was the product of a drunken one-night-stand.

Amalia is worried about Maria going permanently insane.  The doctor says she's only seen one woman go completely insane.  So, of course, Amalia thinks Maria will be the second one.

Susanito would like some alone time, but his mom would like a chance to explain.  For ONCE she listens to him and leaves him alone to trash her living room in peace.

The doctor tells Amalia and Justo that Maria is going into a comatose state because she can't handle the news.  It could be hours, days, weeks, or months.  Just goes back to telling Amalia to please calm the hell down.  Amalia thinks that since Maria was also blaming Jantos, that's proof positive that it is his fault.  She even invokes his real name.

Jantos swears to the doctor that it wasn't his fault.  She says Maria may be blaming him because he's a reminder.  Best case scenario, it'll only be temporary.  But worst case, it's OVER.  Seriously?  And following that Vicente croons "Que Bonito Amor" on the way to a commercial break?  Classy.

Concho finds Mirna in his office and starts to physically throw her out, but Evilra blocks him.  That's right, I said Evilra.  She swears if he gets rid of Mirna, he'll never see her again.  Sounds like a good deal to me!

Lourdes is behind the bar when a woman calls to hire a serenata for a bachelorette party.  And the handsomer the men, the better.  Lourdes immediately thinks of Milamores.

Concho is willing to get rid of both Mirna and Evilra, but Evilra turns on the waterworks "My mommy doesn't love me and neither do you!"  Oh, honey, it's a much, much longer list than that!  Concho says he won't let her blackmail him emotionally. He thinks Mirna must have some dirt on Evilra and Evilra calls his bluff, saying they'll both go.  She opens the door to find Lourdes on the other side, alarmed that Evilra is looking so upset.  Evilra tells her sad, sad tale to mommy as Mirna looks triumphant and Concho looks like he's got his cojones in a vise.

Jantos prays not to lose Maria's love.

Maria takes off all the medical equipment AGAIN and stumbles out of her room AGAIN.

Jantos begs that if it's his destiny to lose Maria then he'd like to die first.  He's lost his mother, his child…and if he's losing Maria then he has nothing to live for.

Maria wanders out to the parking lot.  This clinic has crappy security!

Jantos prays.

Maria seems to be walking home.

The nurse finally comes in and realizes Maria is gone.

Justo is still trying to argue Amalia down.  Jantos comes into the waiting room, insisting on seeing Maria. He feels a disturbance in The Force. He refuses to leave.  Justo joins in on Amalia's chorus, telling him that it's hurting Maria more for him to be there.  Amalia begs him to leave until Maria is more stable. Jantos agrees.  Amalia convinces Justo to go be with Jantos, but before either of them can leave, the nurse comes in to announce that Maria is gone.

Tomorrow: Maria wanders the streets in a rainstorm and wanders into traffic.

And there you have it. An episode that was such a downer that even Jalisquito couldn't save it.

But now, I'm off to have ice cream and watch Project Runway, so maybe that'll lift my spirits.

Never in my life have I wanted to bitch slap someone as much as I wanted to hit Amelia tonight. She was completely over the top and has somehow made it all about HER. She is so ungracious it makes me sick, no thanks for Justo's help just endless bitching about how HER daughter lost HER baby and it is all because HIS son was responsible. Thank God for Justo's diplomatic skill because by the time she went on her third rant involving lying Santos his patience was clearly gone. One plus with her performance tonight there is little chance he'd want to spend any time with this selfish nut case,

OK I can see Maria initially blaming JAntos because she obviously doesn't remember the accident but please again with it was because of the fight, Maybe her evening strolling the rain will bring back her common sense although I doubt it.

As I've said all along Smother's method of raising her daughters has left them woefully unprepared to deal with life's nasty moments. Anyone less head over heels for a woman than JAntos might have second thoughts about the Mendoza family stability.

Roddy looked like he was headed for a slave ring and had a lucky escape although I wonder what hospital he ended up in. So now we have him missing, Irasema in chains Maria wandering the streets,Suesantio dealing with a new parent and God forbid half sister, Siete Mares dealing with the DT's, and JAntos falling into despair again. Somebody better start praying to the Virgin to get all these people straightened out.

So Derecho and Dumber have now set OJ off on the trail of JAntos. Justo was right when he said they have predetermined his son is guilty and are doing nothing to prove other wise.

This episode might have made me feel crappy, but since it surpassed them ALL in utter stupidity and ridiculousness (and that isn’t easy), it made me laugh instead. Ain’t no beanie strong enough for this stuff.

I didn’t think I could loathe anyone so much and so quickly as that doctor. If I were under her care in that madhouse of a hospital, I’d go loca, too. The only sane people we have left are Justo and Santos, and Santos is shaky.

Until last night, I would have included Fernando with the sane group, but if he is willing going to hang out with that incredibly obnoxious Jalisquito kid, he may be the craziest of them all. I can barely stand to have him on my TV for 10 second bursts.

“Mancia tells Susanito that Concho is, indeed, his daddy. Poor guy! That means he's related to Elvira! As if he wasn't feeling crappy enough already!” LOL!

Concho and Mancia? Pass the brain bleach and pronto, por favor! Concho needs to look in a mirror himself before he calls anybody else ugly. Jus’ sayin’.

“Gloria tells him if anything happens to her kid, she'll rip his cojones off and feed them to his chicken.” LOL! But somehow I’d feel a lot more sorry for Gloria if she hadn’t ditched her kid with a near stranger and then forgot how to operate a telephone for many months.

Had to laugh at the indecisive good/bad/indifferent samaritans considering the crumpled, unconscious mess that is Rodrigo. My gaydar was pinging mightily. I hope they do pick him up and we get to see more of them. And I hope that Roddy gets amnesia because we could use a bit more insanity, couldn't we?

Amalia logic: Maria is going psycho-wacko-cuckoo, so whatever she says about JA being a baby killer has GOT to be true. *eyeroll*

“And following that Vicente croons "Que Bonito Amor" on the way to a commercial break? Classy.” LOL! I think Vicente may have meant to say ‘que loquito amor” at this point.

“Evilra turns on the waterworks "My mommy doesn't love me and neither do you!" Oh, honey, it's a much, much longer list than that!” You can certainly put my name on that list.

“Jantos comes into the waiting room, insisting on seeing Maria. He feels a disturbance in The Force.” LOL!

Thank you so much, 5 Footer. Hillarious recap!

Great work, Kat.

I am so done with Amalia. There is nothing she can say or do now to change my mind about what Maria should do which is to get as far away from her as possible. I'm going to rewatch the episode to clarify what JA said to her in the reception area but I'm shocked that he hasn't called her out on her crap.

He's too gentlemanly for that and so is his father. I hope Justo sticks around long enough to make a difference here. They need another voice of reason.

You can put me on the Hate Elvira list, too, but I've been there pretty much from the get go.

Maria needs to be a psych ward for at least a few days. No visitors.

Derecho and Curtis are the dumbest cops I've ever seen in any TV series in any language. They just handed Maria and Santos to Giuliano on a silver platter. Anything that happens to either of them will be their fault. They are an embarrassment to police everywhere.

The Mariachi Kid has Future Frat Boy written all over him. His exit line to Mirna says that. Too bad.

Now we have another Child in Jep story as well.... oy vey.

Someone needs to tell Maria that she is possibly putting her life in danger removing those IV's.

I feel really bad for Susanito. It's not bad enough for a boy named Sue, he has to have Elvira for a sister? [shudders]

Finally, Fernando is smart enough to see through Mirna and realize that she knows something she doesn't want him to.

5Ft...what a smashing recap...I mean SMASHING!!! I loved it, just loved it!!!

After tonight's episode, I am convinced that I never want to see another Mejia production again. This show is beyond being ridiculous. It's just flat out ridiculous. I wonder how many re-takes they did of scenes because the actors were probably dying laughing at what they had to do.

Just how long can a man live in one of those fancy Charro suits and not feel faint. Those pants look pretty darn tight to me, if you get my drift.

I don't know, the whole thing is so darn ridiculous, I have to see this one through just to see how much more ridiculous it can get.

5FT, what a SMASHING recap!

Fatima

P.S. Why do these actors want to work for this Mejia guy when he serves up this kind of stuff? Am I missing something?

One more thing (as if I haven't said it enough): Amalia and Colosso make me sick.

Fatima

I can see it now. People will start to realize that someone put wax on the stage and word will get around that Maria blames JA for losing the baby, so of course JA will be accused (and presumed guilty) of provoking the accident. Elvirus will smirk. Viewerville will gag.

Carolina, am ITA with the very obvious plot line. I'm sure we will see this tonight.

Fatima

5ft - Thanks for the laughs. My favorites:

"Jantos demands his fair share of the pity for having lost a child."

"The doctor says she's only seen one woman go completely insane. So, of course, Amalia thinks Maria will be the second one."

So Concho is Susanito's father? I'm surprised. I figured the father was the owner of the dive Mariachi bar that tried to hire Jantos.

We won't know without a blood test; I'm sure Susanito will demand it.

If Concho is, this could put him in all kinds of boiling water about his will. Lourdes will have a fit and Elvirus will have a world-class tantrum.

Nobody can accuse JA of setting up that "accident." Fernando won't forget that Mirna tried preventing him from collecting the evidence. Not to mention that Concho has to become suspicious of the sudden "friendship" between his daughter and his chippie.

Urban

We are in total sync with loathing Amelia. I'm still furious about her attitude. Hate to say it but I hope she dies. She is rude, and ungracious. I've been around Latinos all my life, lived in Mexico and Spain and have never seen anyone exhibit those characteristics. Add in her insensitivity to the feelings of others and you have one of the most unlikeable characters around. Interesting too that the beloved Angelica Maria is playing her since she is usually slotted into saintly mother mode not possessive harpy.

I actually thought JAntos was telling the old cow off in one of those rant scenes, pretty much telling her she never liked him, never believed him didn't want him around. Didn't save the tape or I'd rewatch it. If he didn't it is LONG past the time when he should.

Thinking about the Roddy pick up those people might have wanted him to be a drug mule. Now that is two times we have had people fling themselves out of a moving vehicle without much damage. Ah the miracles of Noveleland.

My real laugh of the night came from Maria. What kind of hospital dresses a woman in PJ's and what looks like a lab coat, no backless short gown for her. I didn't notice but did she have shoes on when she began her midnight rain stroll?

The other thing about Maria's attire is that she's in panted PJs that look like scrubs. Nobody who has had surgery would be dressed like that.

As to what JA said, I watched again and all that was was a list of facts. He should be questioning her motives in view of him doing things for her family:

-- Paying two large medical bills and their back rent
-- Tutoring Isabel in math
-- Saving Isabel's life
-- Paying (half) of Paloma's quincenera

If all he wanted to do was boink Maria he would have lavished all of that money on her alone. As it was he paid those bills with survival money, including money from his father. Amalia chooses to ignore that because she refuses to let go of Maria.

If Justo was really thinking he would be telling Santos look to the mother because 20 years from now that's what you'll be living with. I was also galled when Amelia continually referred to her grandchild being lost until finally Justo snapped that it was also his grandchild, not that that stopped miss middled aged martyr from going on and on.

I guess it is now about time for Susanito to drift down to the bar of broken dreams and lose himself in a bottle of tequila. His OTL gone, a ghastly father and worse half sister to cope with also the disillusionment that he had thought his parents had had a great love instead of a drunken one night stand. I still have my doubts about Mancia having told the truth, it was all just a little too pat. I still think she might have been a party girl in the Irasema mode.

Frankly I do love the idea that little by little Elvirus and Mirna are losing more and more of the bar. Half of it belongs to the Mendoza's and now one quarter more would likely go to Susanito. The two big shots ordering people around are in for a big shock and if the wax truth comes out it will be all over for Concho's pride and joy.

I agree with you about Mancia. What else could she have been hiding that she didn't want Susanito to know? Whether Concho or the owner of the other bar is his sperm donor is irrelevant to how Susanito feels about this. Every romantic like him would like to be the product of a great love, but life doesn't always work that way.

Although it would serve Elvirus right if Susanito turned out to be her brother. He deserves 25% of the bar; in fact he deserves the whole 50% that is Concho's. He's decent, hard-working, and loyal. All traits that Elvirus does not possess.

Justo should point this out. The fact that Maria is better-educated than Amalia could offset Amalia's worst trait: Insecurity combined with selfishness. When Maria gets back to reality she will remember the "accident" and also that it was the first of its kind. I hope that doesn't take as long as Amalia getting her memory back.

I too hope that Maria snaps out of and realizes that JAntos had absolutely nothing to do with the accident. She might also recognize that he is suffering as much or maybe even more than she is, He has lost so much while she still had her Smother and a mob of friends and protectors around her. If she doesn't see it she will prove that at heart she is just as selfish and self absorbed as Amelia.

Please do not get me started on that half wit doctor. She should have thrown Amelia out of the hospital after her first two rants, let Santos in to see Maria in the first place, paid attention to a bleeding patient and the list goes on.

One thing I will be watching for tonight ids if Maria miraculously put on shoes.

Decie and UA, just wanted to say I am ITA with all of your comments. Couldn't say it better, but wanted to say thanks.

Fatima

I have to congratulate you guys for your patience and sticking with this Basura. I am never watching a Mejia TN again. They seem to have the most pathetic characters and very old predictable story lines.
