TELEMUNDO Y MAS - week of July 1

Ciao from Sicily! Here is your discussion page on it's new day.

LA PATRONA:

Just wondering if there is 4 July ep. of La Patrona. I'll do the recap for tonight's ep, and Wednesday's as well. I'm way too obsessed with this TN for my own good, but it really does help with my Spanish listening and acquisition skills, so I call it Spanish homework.

DYO:
For those watching, how is this one going? The galan in this one looks like he was the galan with Victoria Ruffo in Victoria, another Telemundo tn whose ads I remember seeing some years ago. It seems a little too traditional and convuluted to me, but not as overly dramatized as Univison TNs

TELEMUNDO

J desde NYC - I just checked my Dish guide and DyO, La Patrona and El Señor are not scheduled for July 4th. DyO and La Patrona are scheduled to be on Friday July 5th, but El Señor is off on Friday (replaced with Los 20 Momentos Mas Impactantes ?que).

Also found that DyO in the Denver area repeats at 11 a.m. MDT the next weekday. Didn't know that. La Patrona airs twice at 8 p.m. and again at 11 p.m. MDT.

Beth

DyO

J desde NYC- No. It's not the same actor. The galan in Victoria was Mauricio Ochman who was in El Clon and Rosa Diamante. The galan in DyO was one of the two galans in Corazon Valiente.

DYO - Monday 7/1, part 1

I have emerged from piles of yard sale debris to bring you today's not-short recap :)

Gina enlists Ignacia’s abuela in ensuring that Iggy marries Tomas. Abuela tells Gina that Mariano called last night and the past is coming back to haunt them. Gina trembles.

Tomas hires Ruben as the company’s errand boy, and has a sudden rage outburst when Ruben refers to him as “Viejo.” Seconds later, Tomas is calm and cool again. Ruben is scared. So am I. This guy is… eeeeek! Although, okay, Tomas has a good point about addressing people respectfully. Maybe he’ll inadvertently hammer some manners into this kid.

Ignacia wants to talk to Olegario in the locker room about what happened last night.

Tomas informs Ruben that his paychecks will go directly to his mother to reimburse her for what she paid for his colegio. Ruben starts to object but Tomas reminds him that he has suspicions about the ladron who robbed his office (ahem), and Ruben backs down. Tomas tells Ruben several times that he’s a brat (sorely needed), and then gives him his assignment… spy on your sister.

Ignacia tells Oleg to forget anything ever happened, and apologizes on behalf of Tomas for his behavior. Olegario is not placated.

Ruben is not comfortable with the spying thing. Tomas tells him that if he does this, he will not investigate the check robbery any further.

Karina demands to know why Ignacia didn’t show up for their double date. Iggy explains that she and Tomas had a fight, but she wants to reschedule since Jose Manuel is such a sweetheart. Tomas walks in, preguntando if there is something between his socio and Karina… Karina hopes he’s getting jealous.

Margarita is excited for Ped-reya’s wedding, but Mireyita isn’t so sure it’s going to happen. “Do you know anything about what’s going on with Pedro and his jefa?” she asks Marge.

Tomas brought flowers to Ignacia to apologize for last night, Karina is suddenly very excited about Jose Manuel… “What do you think, Tomas? You know him better than anyone…” Karina fishes. Tomas bites. He doesn’t want anything that will cause problems in the workplace. Karina decides (aloud) she’s going to give JM a call. No, wait. She’ll see him at the office. Someone please knock this woman out before she gets her claws into my encantador JM.

Mireya tells Marge that she overheard Gina telling her father that Pedro and Ignacia kissed. Marge tells her that she and Pedro make the perfect couple and he loves her very much (clueless much, mom?), and that she should talk to Pedro about it to get an explanation.

DYO - Monday 7/01, part 2

Ruben has a brief conversation with an unknown socio on the telephone… he’s got almost all the money he needs, now it’s socio’s turn. Ruben calls Lupita. He’s excited about their trip to Malibu (skeezy) and he needs to get some things for the trip, can he come by and get the money she promised him? Lupita takes money from mamacita’s purse.

Ignacia apologizes to JM about not showing up last night, JM wonders if Karina said anything about him. Ignacia assures him he left quite the impression on Karina and she’s planning to call him today. He gets excited, and my heart is breaking.

Karina drops in on Tomas to rub salt in the wound. “You’re so jealous, aren’t you?” “No.” “Yes you are, and I’m going to make you miserable until you beg me to come back.”

Pedro meets mamacita leaving for the grocery store, and demands that he do it for her. But she’s perfectly healthy, she counters, and she’s going herself. Besides, he needs to go talk to Mireya b/c she knows what you’ve been doing with your boss. She lays the guilt on thick…”that poor girl, you are the world to her and she’s so hurt, you’re going to lose a marvelous woman [cough] if you don’t man up.” She starts to go to the grocery store and Pedro stops her again. She demands he stop treating her like a sick woman! She’s not!

Abuela comes to visit Ignacia at the office. “You’re in love with another man, aren’t you?”

Pedro encounters a surly Olegario when he goes to talk to Mireya. Olly is not happy that he was made to look like a liar when Iggy and Tomas showed up at his house last night. Pedro apologizes, Mireya rolls in, Oleg storms out. Mireya demands an explanation for the kiss.

Ignacia, VERY unconvincingly, denies she’s in love with someone else. Abuela encourages her to follow her heart, but Iggy is determined that she’s getting married.

Karina blackmails Tomas, “If you get married, I have the right to remake my life with another man.” She tells him JM is a charming guy, and she thinks she might be able to like him eventually. I. Want. To. Punch. Her. Estela walks in on the two of them in a seemingly intimate conversation.

Pedro apologizes to Mireya… he didn’t want her to find out this way. She demands to know if he “like likes” his boss.

DYO - Monday 7/01, part 3

Estela is a bit impactada, and Karina dismisses herself. Estela chases her down, trying to get on the elevator. She accuses Karina of being jealous of Ignacia and wanting the relationship to fail, tacking on a few choice names. Karina is freaking out and wants to get away. JM walks in, greets Karina adorably, and Karina takes advantage of the distraction to bolt for the elevator. Pobrecito, PLEASE lets get a new female cast member worthy of this cutie. Estela marches back to Tomas and demands an explanation.

Gina is crying, remembering the words of the doctor when he gave them the news that Margarita has breast cancer. Olegario comes in and the flirting begins. Gina gushes about what a wonderful man he is… “I said to myself, ‘Self, this is the perfect man… the perfect man for my sister!” Oleg deflates.

Tomas is in full-on “smarm” mode as he assures Estela of his loyalty to their family… look what he did for Ruben! Besides, Estela and he have a very special relationship, that goes beyond suegra y yerno. She is melting. Ruben barges in chomping on something from a vending machine bag like he’s walking into his living room. Tomas yanks him out of the room and proceeds to teach him some manners (I have to admit I like Tomas in his scenes with Ruben. The kid needs a serious come-to-Jesus regarding his social skills.). After reminding Ruben of his duties--getting coffee, answering phones, and spying on his sister—he sends the kid off to get his coffee and returns to Estela who has been listening in the doorway. She thanks him for dealing with Ruben, and Tomas vows that together they will make a man of him yet.

Pedro doesn’t answer Mireya’s question, but instead asks her to forgive him so they can continue on with their plans. Mireya says that even though she can’t walk [cough] she will follow him to the ends of the earth if he hurts her, because he’s HER man. She turns gentle and pulls him in for a kiss, but he’s just not that into her and pulls away awkwardly after a few seconds.

Ruben is outside Lupita’s and she runs out to give him the money. He charms her and cuddles but she ducks out just before the kiss and runs back in the house. I’m sensing an unexpected pregnancy and deadbeat dad in her future. He calls Rata, the socio, and informs him he’s now got enough money to buy the drugs.

Marge grills Lupita about the guy on the moto she saw the other day, and Lupita dodges her questions. Then she goes to her room and looks moony-eyed. Yup, here comes pregnancy #1 for this tn, coming on fast, like a speeding train. I’m calling it now, before they’ve even done the deed.

JM (sigh) stops by Ignacia’s house… he’s worried about Karina. He saw her today at the constructora talking with Iggy’s mom, and Karina did not look well, like she was about to cry. Ignacia is confused, but then Mommy Dearest walks in and Ignacia calls her over to explain what happened. MD doesn’t really remember what happened, but reminds Iggy how unstable and emotional Karina can be. Ignacia isn’t convinced and leaves with JM to go check on her.

DYO - Monday 7/01, part 4

Neto stops by casa de Mireya and notes she doesn’t look happy. He offers his services as her “stepbrother” to listen and comfort her… he holds her hand to his heart and says “My heart is broken, because sometimes what we want (or care for) most in the world is what makes us suffer the most.” Mireya looks moved, and they hug. This was an unexpectedly sweet scene, I hope something is coming down the line for these two--it’s gonna take a while, but I’m sensing a direction here (maybe a redemption for Mireyita?). Olegario barges in to scare the wolf (although Neto is really more of a chihuahua) away from his young.

Ignacia asks Karina what happened at the constructora, but K doesn’t want to talk about it.

Neto leaves in a hurry, and Mireya is peeved. Dad thinks M was trying to pay Pedro back for his extra-noviazgo kissing, but Mireya is incensed. She’s not like that, she insists.

Pedro wants Mamacita to go to bed, she shouldn’t be doing the dishes. They gush at each other, he wants her to last forever. Everyone dies, she says, but she’s still got a long way to go yet. She leaves to go to bed, he sobs. Gina looks on from around the corner, and joins in the waterworks.

Ruben bounds downstairs dressed and ready for work, Ignacia is shocked. When Ruben informs her he has a job at the constructora, she thinks it’s hilarious (Ana played this scene SO well ☺ ). “Oh, how Mother must have begged them to hire you,” she chuckles good-naturedly. As she is leaving, Ruben asks her if she trusts Tomas… they tell each other everything, right? They don’t have any secrets?. She’s suspicious… why is he asking that? Ruben is suddenly in a hurry to get to work.

At work, Pedro moons over the picture of his mom and sister in his locker. More sobbing. Ignacia enters. She’s concerned to see him crying, is it her fault? Pedro tells her about Mamacita Santa’s cancer. Fin de capitulo.

New drinking game idea: take a shot every time someone apologizes. Take two shots when it's Pedro. (This may lead to some interesting drunk recapping...)

PASION PROHIBIDA

I never did comment on my opinion of the gran final or the novela in general so hear i go.....

This novela remimded me of LA CASA DE AL LADO in 3 ways.
1. Like Javier Ruiz, Ariel gets away scott free with rape.
2. The protagonists were unlikable.
3. The servants were hilarious. (Remember the Karen Nibal and Yolanda triangle?)

Poor Monica Spear getting a second unhappy ending. 1st it was FLOR SALVAJE and now PP.

I admit i also cheated and looked up the original storyline of Aşk-ı Memnu so i hoped against hope that Bianca wouldnt die like Bither but i lost hope after the rape.

I saw the pilot trailer for PP (The one with Carla Hernandez and Gonzalo Garcia Vivanco) So i was surprised that Bianca killed herself outside and not in a room. I saw the original suicide 2 days after the gran final.

I was surprised that Besir (Yair in PP) dies. Wikipedia never said that so i assumed he lived just like in the remake. Can someone please give me a link to the funeral?

When EL ROSTRO ended i chose this over LA PATRONA since LPs cast was 98% new. PP had a lot of actors ive seen before (Think DEE? MCI and UMEM).

This novela never topped MSED as my favorite novela of all time (CORAZON VALIENTE had the chance but everything went to hell after Angie went to prison and Bernie supposedly dies). Never theless it was addicting and kept me glued to my seat. And yes, I liked it better than ERDLV.

Raphael Amaya meet and greet at Morango Casino yesterday and he is so fit, handsome and sweet!!
Fans galore, he was gracious to all, and spoke perfect English !! What a treat!

PASION PROHIBIDA

I wonder what happened to Katia. Did she stay with the clan or end up leaving with Flavia. Since its implied that Flavia ends up homeless i guess Kat abandons her. Shell probably move in with the Condes. I suspect she and Carola will make fast friends.

Felt kinda sorry for Nina. I know a lot of people found her annoying and i dont blame them but in the end she always had a good heart.

LA PATRONA:
I probably won't get my recap up until the late evening before tonight's ep. If anyone else wants to have at it, go ahead, but I'm uber busy today.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 1

Here we go again! After Aurelio fake weeps a little while hugging Ximena, Aurelio and Turco move into the next room, and Turco asks him, you killed Don Cleto, right? Aurelio asks if Turco is loyal. Completely. Okay, then yeah. It couldn’t be prevented. But Turco, take care of the body, I want that autopsy report to show he died of natural causes.

Later, the autopsy doctor tell Turco it was murder by strangulation. Turco says, no I think it was a heart attack. He plops down a huge pile of bills, with a single bullet on top. Doc gets the message, yep, heart attack.

Doña Alba approaches Turco a bit later, clasps his hands, just tell me the truth, Turco, I’ll never tell Ximena, Aurelio killed him, right? Turco pauses, then calmly says, no, it was a heart attack, I had my doubts, too, but that’s what the autopsy report said. This was a well acted scene, Turco was looking away, WE could see he was lying, but Doña Alba was red faced, emotional, teary, not really looking, and was mollified that her worst fears had not come to pass.

Bert tells his Dad it sure was crazy that Clauda turned out to be police. Neither Alejandro nor I had any idea. Well, son, I think maybe Alejandro DID know, or else he was stupid. Either way, he’s got to go. What do you mean, Dad? We have to waste him? (quebrar). Are you really gonna do that. No, son, YOU’re gonna do it! Bert gulps, this is his best friend. Even more reason to prove you’re a man. Now stand up straight, and go take care of it. Bert later puts on his all black cowboy outfit, goes to visit Alejandrito, who’s all upset about things, and says let’s go for a ride, and “talk”. Uh oh.

Matilde doesn’t really know that Aurelio killed Don Cleto, but thought it was mighty suspicious that Don Cleto just died like that. Chacorta tells her maybe it was a mistake to rescue Don Cleto in his weak condition. This seems a little strange to Mati, since Chacorta was all for it before, and she’s still wondering if they’re hiding something from her.

Topo visits Randy in an airplane hanger. Let’s do business, I’ll supply the drugs from Colombia. But hey, man, replies Randy, what about Casillas? Forget him, we’ve got some new connections, you can make a lot of money. Randy will think about it, drives off in his BMW convertible, Topo drives off in his classic Mercedes convertible. Cool!

And just who are these Colombians Topo will be dealing with? He doesn’t really know, but Mónica had called him, told him she had some Colombian connections for him. We know it’s Cabo, and this could be tricky. Cabo also rubs it in with Tijeras, man, I slept with her first, I win the bet. Tijeras reluctantly gives Cabo his prized gun, as agreed. Mónica also calls Aurelio, who’s a bit busy at this point, wants to meet with him, too. But she also has a pending meeting with Irina, who’s coming to Mónica’s house, and that should be interesting.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 2

Eugenia is woken up at her house by a knock on the door. It’s Alfonso, just wanted to stop by and praise her article about Danny. But he won’t stay. Stay, she says sweetly and quietly. Not long after, they make beautiful telenovela love. They don’t even answer the phone all day (it’s Marco).

Danny and Doris are leaving town. They pack their stuff, including the suitcase with $2 million from Aurelio, and get in the car. Marco meets with Benitez, plays him the tape of Danny and Aurelio. Benitez gives him the go ahead to arrest Danny. Ramiro walks in at the end, what’s up? Well, says Benitez, we just got proof a high government officer has been collaborating with druglords. Ramiro nervously asks, who is it? Benitez pauses a few seconds, gives Ramiro a long look, and says General Jiménez Arroyo. Oh sure, says Ramiro, I always suspected him!

Marco, Leo and crew rush to Danny’s house, but he’s gone! They search the house, looking for clues, and get a lot of account books, but no obvious proof of anything yet. They put out the word, check all the airports, train stations, don’t let him get away! Leo is frustrated, if only we could find him. We can, says Marco, and calls Danny’s cell. As we know, back in the 90's, they didn’t have caller ID on the cells, so Danny, in his car, just picks up, hello? Hello, General, we have proof you’re working with the druglords, and we’re comin’ to get you! Where are you? Danny hangs up. He tells the driver to turn off the road. Back at the station, Leo says why did you tip him off like that? Marco thinks there’s nothing to worry about, they have everything covered.

Danny drives into the abandoned hangar in Mexico City where he always meets Aurelio, they get out of the car. Doris, we have to split up. You go on ahead to Brasilia, I’ll work on getting out of here, I have contacts. But who? Honey, the less you know, the better, and take the suitcase with the cash. But I don’t want to leave you! Tears stream down the face of the normally composed Doris, but she has to go. Danny then calls Aurelio, they have proof of us on tape, we’re screwed, you gotta get me out of here, send a plane. Aurelio responds, ah Letrudeo, YOU’re screwed. But he later agrees to help, he’ll send people to the meeting place, get Aurelio to an airstrip. But WE know that Aurelio is gonna use this chance to kill Danny. And he has just the right people in mind to do the job. He calls Cabo, I’ve got a job for you.

The police hear that Doris has escaped to Brazil. Ooops!

Leo had earlier told Marco to go back to Eugenia, she’s his real woman, not Leo. Marco hasn’t been able to reach Eugenia all day, finally goes to her place, when she opens the door, he has important news, we were right about Arroyo, but why didn’t you answer your phone? From upstairs, in walks Alfonso. So THAT’s why.

CIELOS

Great recap, Hombre! Thanks very, very much.

I too thought the scene between Turco and Doña Alba was very well done. He took a long time before answering; at first, I thought he might actually tell her the truth, but of course he didn't. She was so tense and worried that she didn't notice how long he took, and her relief at his response was immense.

One thing that surprised me was a semi-dressed Eugenia opening the door without knowing who was there--first to Alfonso, and then to Marco. This is a woman who was the object of an assassination attempt not that long ago, and yet she's willing to open the door to anyone? Heck, even in my boring suburb I wouldn't dream of doing that. (Now where did I put my beanie?)

Cielos

Tks Hombre, I was anxiously waiting.

Who in their right mind would tell Matilde anything, Chacorta is smart enough to know that. It's very plausible that Cleto would die of a heart attack considering his condition & the experience of the rescue. Turco really has a way with words, a chunk of bills and a bullet.

When Randy asked Topo, what about Casillas, Topo said he had gone off the deep end.

So who wins in a fight between Monica and Irina? My money is on Monica. She's actually killed people before. Irina is all talk.

Turco had a pretty nice laptop to work on there. I don't even remember laptops then. Maybe they were a few thousand out of my price range.

I liked the bit with Doris and Daniel. She proved to be more than just his Lady Macbeth. It would have been a really sweet scene if they weren't both criminals.

Kelly

Don't know if Irina could get the best of Monica, but I think it will be Aurelio who whacks her. It s/b very interesting watching them play a cat & cat game.

CIELOS

Thanks, Hombre, for a great recap of another very dramatic episode.

These actors are all playing their parts so well, and they're totally believable. The scene of AC's convo with Beto was riveting. I was literally on the edge of my seat when this "father" (the same sob who told Beto to kill Rutilla's dog) ordered Beto to kill Alejandro. Raphael Amaya IS Aurelio Cassillas.

The actors playing Cabo and Tijeras are also fascinating to watch. Their small scene where AC called Cabo and asked him to kill Danny was frightening. The two Colombians were so blasé in carrying out AC's request, they acted like they were going to the corner store to pick up bread and milk.

I fear for Turco and Ximena. Alba gave us the warning about AC when she said he's sick and out of control, pretty much what Cleto had also said. I can see him doing an Othello.

Juanita - I had the same thought about Eugenia when she opened the door in her pi's.

Excellent, excellent AnotherAmy and thanks! Succinct and loved "Ped-reya" and your JM chulo commentary. Pedro really not into Mireya, is he? Pulled away twice from her kisses and pic of mom/sis in his locker. Guilt and family pressure are strong motivators. [Right, Bruno?]

What's up with the "special relationship" between Estela and Tomas? Must go beyond money! That hand play was creepy.

PASION PROHIBIDA

NovelaMan, happy to see your comment. As a Uni refugee I'm not familiar with your comparisons. I was musing about one of the pluses of PP was it's being blessedly free of "comic relief," then I thought of the downstairs crowd, hilarious as you say.

Don't worry, Nina and Katia will be fine!
Thanks again for your recapping, and for the no spoilers since you too knew.

Clara

CIELOS

Hombre, you are the MAN!

Real quick, just a few corrections:

1. It was actually the President who called his cousin Silva in to advise him of Arroyo-Jimenez, with Benitez present. Benitez and Prez give the same stare to Silva afterwards, as if they suspect of him as well.

2. It is actually $3mil in Danny's briefcase. AC threw in an extra $1mil out of courtesy into the $2mil that Danny had requested.

3. When Danny and Doris pull over, they pull into a random parking. After he dismisses Doris, he gets back in the Cadillac and gets confirmation of the getaway from AC. He hangs up and tells his chauffeur, to the bodega.
(As seen in the advances, as he is pulling up to the bodega, Cabo and Tijeras are waiting for him).

On a side note, I'm surprised Turco didn't say anything to AC about setting up Danny.

Another Amy, thanks for doing such a great recap amisar the rubble of your yard sale! I like your new drinking game, and I do want to take a slug every time Pedro says "Mamacita Santita" or related variations.
:o)
I did like the lecture Tomas gave Ruben about good manners etc. Too bad the writers have made Tomas sooo one dimensional.

PP
NovelaMan, I think most of us have had massive "culture shock" switching from PP to Dama y Obrero. I didn't see any of the scenes from the Turkish version, but did read a recap and kept hoping against hope that the Telemundo writers would rescue Bianca. But no. In my mind Katia landed on her feet despite her early nastiness. I was so surprised about Yair not dying, and still super annoyed with Nina.

CIELOS

Thanks, Hombre. Terrific recap of a terrific episode.

I'm starting to wish ALL telenovelas would be the length of this one. The stories are so much more tight and compelling.

My jaw dropped when Aurelio decided to "make a man of" his son by having him kill poor Alejandro.

I'm now rooting for Mathilde for the first time -- that she spills the beans about Aurelio killing Don Cleto to expedite Ximena's departure.

Rafael Amaya is SO good in this. He's showing us more and more of the sociopath behind the surface bonhomie.

I remember, at least once, Aurelio did come up with the caballeros no tienen memoria line when asked to dish the details about sex with some woman. Apparently Cabo has no such compunctions, as he gloatingly described Mónica's bedroom qualities.

Cielos
I know this says sth about my taste in men, but I think Cabo is kind of cute.
I agree Rafael Amaya is wonderful, guapo, cold, calculating, smart & a sociopath.
I knew things were only going to get worse when he had Berto shoot his sister's dog like nothing.

CIELOS:

Wonderful recap Carlos! I loved your description of that scene with Turco and Alba. You really could see all the thoughts going on in his head. He knew that if he told Alba the truth, it would destroy her to have such confirmation that her son really has become a monster. He chose to spare her that pain. He’s walking a fine line right now between his loyal nature, and what he feels for Ximena and the rest of AC’s family.

Will Beto really be able to kill Alejandro? I guess if he does, we’ll know for sure that there is no hope or redemption for him. Ximena has to get those girls and go, like now!

It will be interesting to see Marco’s further reaction to finding out Eugenia and Alfonso are now lovers. I hope he isn’t hypocritical, because he and we know he and Leo crossed that line long ago.

CIELOS:

I meant Hombre. Not Carlos. You two are my favorite Caray Caray guys. :)

LA PATRONA – Mártes - Part 1

This one will be fairly brief. I had to work late.

Alejandro is brought to the stables at La Dorada. After some other thugs tie him up, Macario starts kicking him in the ribs and then bashes him in the head with a gun.

Balmy tells Gabriela about all the witnesses against Antonia that came to make declarations. He tells her he knows she was involved. When she asks him how he feels as a man, he tells her he’s hurt because he fell in love with Antonia.

Lucho is hanging out with Francisca and Gastón. Gastón leaves to go to the radio station, and Lucho asks to stay there a while. Irene arrives to visit, and their cooing remarks to each other just about give Fran a toothache.

Gastón announces the sentence of Aníbal Villegas on the radio. He says someone else needs to pay, someone even more pitiless than AV – the black widow. When she walks through a courtyard, the children call her a bruja and half the town yells “killer” at her.

Antonia has come to gloat over Aníbal. During their long conversation we learn that he saw her on the street when she was 15. She had been in love with someone decent. But he kept after her again and again until he finally got her mother to sell her. They trade insults for a while, then she tells him she has a little surprise for him at the penitentiary. He tells her that things will be worse for her than they are for him when she finds out who it is who’s now digging her grave for her. Balmy drags her out of there, and a huge crowd is insulting her.

AV is dragged out of the jail to be sent to the pen. When he arrives there, it appears that Antonia has paid off the entire prison population, as they all threaten him.

Antonia comes to Casa Villegas to first make nice with Ricardito and then tell him that his real father is dead.

We discover Antonia’s little surprise. She has a noose hidden under a blanket on his bunk. The prisoners nearly all intimidate him in the yard, and later on he uses the noose to hang himself.

LA PATRONA – Mártes - Part 2

Ale comes to, vaults over the stable half door, uses a handy guadaña (scythe) to cut the ropes on his hands and is free. He manages to bash one of Macario’s guys with a shovel and escapes in an SUV.

Ricardo gives a very kind and wise explanation to his son. He tells him a story about a seed that blows into a garden and then becomes a little tree. Someone waters and cares for it, and it grows. Ricardito easily sees the analogy and is happy to have Ricardo as his father.

Macario gripes to Antonia about having to come to her watched house for his money. He tells her he’s going to do the job with Verónica Dantés, just like he always gets things done.

After Balmy comes to tell them about AV’s suicide, Patti comforts Ricardo and even calls him “mi amor”. She tells him he did a wonderful job reassuring the boy and thanks him for being such a wonderful father. He tells her that, despite all the rough patches in their relationship, he loves her. She tells him she also loves him. He also tells her he desires her like a crazy man, and off they go to bed.

We see the security screens going out at La Fortaleza and Macario shooting and killing one of the guards.

Inside Gabriela is talking to her baby, Tomasito, telling him how much she loves him. She gets up to play some music, and Macario grabs her from behind, hand over her mouth, gun to her temple. He tells her he has nothing against her; it’s a well paid job. He tells her not to resist and she’ll die easier.

Whoops! Gabriela unloads some wicked kung fu moves on him, gets the gun from him, and then bashes him in the face with the gun! Niiiice! He tells her to be careful; she doesn’t know what to do with the gun. She coldly tells him it’s a 9 mm with a silencer that shoots 3 shots at a time. She tells him she knows all about guns and was trained in self defense by the best in the business. She tells him she’s waited for years for this moment.

The only dark cloud on all this is that Macario’s thugs appear to have Gabriela’s guards under control.

Macario is confused and asks who she is. She tells him she’s the person who most hates him in the whole world. She tells him he brought her a message long ago and she’s going to return it. She kicks him in the gut over and over. He looks up, amazed. “Tú!” Then he proceeds to beg for his life.

DYO

Thanks for the recap, AnotherAmy!

I too am liking Tomas trying to teach Ruben some manners. He called him a "mocoso," one of my fav Spanish words (along with "baboso")!

Has anyone else noticed how many cowboy hats Olegario has in his apartment? Cowboy hats in display cases, cowboy hats hanging jauntily here and there. It's weird.

And, I am so tired of the multiple scenes of Tomas snarling and threatening Pedro as Ignacia looks on. Enough, already! And she's still going to marry this jerk?!?

LA PATRONA:

Wonderful recap Novelera!

I loved Gabi/Vero taking down Macario with her awesome self defense moves (maybe she should have taught some to Ceci). That was a cool surprise and I was cheering her on.

I was also cheering on Ricardo and Paty. That was a sweet scene with Ricardito, and then when they were alone. Ricardo chose the perfect analogy, contrasting the passing wind that deposits the seed (bio dad), with the gardener who waters and cares for the seed as it grows into a tree (real dad). That family deserves to be happy.

Cielos
I never thought I would be saying that Chacorta is shocked at Aurelio's brutality. 1st killing Don Cleto, then sending his son to do his dirty work. Alejandro was Berto's best friend??? OK, if you have to kill him, do it ya, not slow, por Dios.
At least Chacorta draws the line at family.
Can't wait for the recap.

LA PATRONA:

Novelera, great recap as always. I actually felt a lot of sympathy for 15-year old Antonia, which is why the writers put her in a white top-she was sort-of-right about Aníbal destroying her life, and it was poetic justice that she got him to kill himself.

She, however, chose to destroy other women and girls' lives-Julia, Gaby, Irene, Ceci, and even Eugenia, whom she could have mentored instead of judged or used as she was used to seduce David.

Antonia never tried to ensure what happened to her wouldn't happen to another girl. Gabi protected Ceci when she was vulnerable because she saw herself in Ceci. Plus, she said admittedly, that Marcos Beltran was a good, honest man. She could have been happy with him as Fran was with Tigre. But hurt peopl hurt people and it seems the writers are saying Gaby/Ale are gonna have to be the ones to forgive and forget.

I loved the Macario/Vero scene not only because she defended herself well, I loved when Mac said 'Why aren't you calling for the guards?' And Vero saying, 'I don't need them.' Really funny because Mac realized he messed with the wrong person.

CIELOS:

Variopinta- When I watched that scene with AC telling Chacorta that he had ordered Beto to kill Ale, I thought, you know you're in trouble when Chacorta looks at you funny and thinks you've crossed a line.

No turning back for Beto now.

La Patrona,

great recap novelera!

I had a hard time following the Ricardo/Patti/Ricardito scene,
so thanks very much for that, that was touching,
now, will our couple finally consummate their marriage,
(they'll probably be glued together for the rest of the show),

I have no sympathy for Antonia what-so-ever,
because any delay in taking her down,
gives her time to destroy someone else's life,
so what's taking Balmy so long in arresting her?
and doesn't she still have Macario's 2 million,

I guess Antonia had Macario take care of Alejandro,
because he was getting in the way,
but will Alejandro know that it was his mother,
the beating that Macario gave him, didn't seem to be as bad as the one he gave Macario,
that put him in the hospital

and I guess this leaves Antonia as the only one that doesn't know who Gabriela is,

when all of the people that came forward to testify against Antonia,
then thanked Veronica and left,
didn't Luz want to stick around for Lucho,
and Veronica told her she should forget about that,

so funny to see janitor Duende at the court house / jail,
tidying things up while giving Veronica a heart attack

they didn't waste any time taking Anibal to the bad,bad prison,
which was secure enough for Lagarto,
and safe enough for Alejandro to beat his head against the bars,
loved it when the guard sounded the alarm,
er, blew his whistle,

Cielos,

All these actors are (killing) it.
You could tell exactly what Chacorta was thinking. Great facial expression.
Gen Dan thinks he is better off with Marcos than at Aurelio's mercy. Ramiro & co. are muy worried.

Vivi wrote: "you know you're in trouble when Chacorta looks at you funny and thinks you've crossed a line." Vivi, I had the same thought when I saw the expression on Chacorta's face. Gradually EVERYONE is starting to recognize that Aurelio is loco and out of control. Well, everyone but Beto, perhaps. Sigh.

I couldn't read much of the email message that Turco received, after which he said he had to make a quick trip to Los Angeles. Do we know who the message was from? Is there a connection with the scene in LA between Topo and Randy?

I can't wait to see more of the meeting between Irina and Mónica.

LA PATRONA:

Deb, I have no sympathy for now-Antonia because she has remorsely ruined lives. It's always about her. Even as Gaby was moving pieces to fulfill the venganza she never lost sight that others could get hurt and she has tried to not have any collateral damage. She personally got Lucecita's son Emiliano back from Julio for her and got them out of SPdO to keep them safe; she built a hospital.

Guerra, however, got so consumed by that one horrific moment in her life wher she was sold into prostitution, that instead of helping others, she became just as evil and selfish as those who used her. She has to be taken down. But, I felt sympathy for that 15-year-old Antonia whose innocence was robbed from her by her mother and Aníbal. And I felt sad that girl didn't grow up to help the other vulnerable girls around her.

LA PATRONA:

Deb, I'm sure Ale knows Mac was sent by Guerra to stop him. Remember, Ale followed Guerra to the bank and heard that she wanted $2 million in cash. At first he thought she wanted the money to flee Mexico but then he said that she wouldn't risk fleeing now that the cops are onto her so she has to be planning to kill someone. So he knows she was trying to kill Vero. He was trying to call
Vero and warn her when Mac stopped his SUV. He definitely knows the hit was on Vero because Guerra told him that she'd get rid of Vero like she did with Gaby.

CIELOS

I just took another look at the scene with Turco at his computer. I stopped it when they flashed on the message. It was from someone whose username was PRINCE. It said simply that he needed to see him urgently. The message started in English but then switched to Spanish to say much the same thing.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Martes, Part 1

Marco quickly tells Eugenia they’ve got proof against Danny. But he’s embarrassed seeing her and Alfonso together, and leaves quickly. Alfonso picks up on the jealousy. Eugenia says I know it won’t be easy. Alfonso says he’ll fight for her love.

Out in open country, Bert and Alejandro are riding horses. Ale wants to get back. Bert doesn’t. He says we have to talk. They dismount. Sorry, Alejandro, but your road ends here, says Bert, drawing his pistol. What, you’re gonna shoot me? I have to, I’ve been given that job. Oh, c’mon, Bert, why don’t you just tell your Dad you shot me, and I’ll disappear, he’ll never know. Nope. But we’ve been buddies for years, we grew up together, don’t do it, don’t turn out like your Dad, who’s a killer. Bang! Bert shoots Ale in the leg, don’t you EVER dis my Pa. Owwww, you shot me, why did you do that?

Bert steels his gaze on his former cuate, THAT shot was for bringing police to my family’s ranch. BANG! He shoots the other leg. THAT was for putting my family in danger. BANG! He shoots him in the head, killing him. THAT was because I had a job to do, and I’m doing it. And BANG, BANG, BANG, three more shots. THOSE are so the world will know, just who is Heriberto Casillas!!!!!!

Back at the ranch, we see Turco on his laptop, he has an email from someone named “Prince”. He tells Aurelio he has to go to LA, on business. He won’t even tell Aurelio why, but assures him he’ll be back soon. He later tells Ximena, he can’t stay for Don Cleto’s funeral, but he’ll be back for the burial. He says he’ll work on getting her out of there. Everyone wonders where Bert is. Aida shows up at the wake, and Matilde gives her a piece of her mind, as usual.

We know that Danny’s wife Doris has escaped to Brazil. Danny, however, is going to meet Aurelio at the bodega (warehouse). As he approaches, he has his driver/bodyguard stop the car, telling him he’s going in on foot, wait outside. We see Cabo and Tijeras standing just inside the door. The brown car pulls up, the driver gets out, Tijeras says is that our man? Must be, says Cabo, a brown car, we’ve got the right address. Should we, like ask him? Nah. The driver takes two steps, and Boom! Cabo and Tijeras smoke him. He lies in a pool of blood. Across the warehouse, on the other side, Danny’s watching in abject horror, what could have been him. He quickly gets out of there. Later, Cabo calls Aurelio, mission accomplished. But we know it’s not.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 2

Irina comes to meet with Mónica. The two ladies are both dressed to kill. Over wine, Mónica learns why Irina has a French accent. Irina wants Mónica to buy some expensive art. Mónica says she doesn’t really know much about it, and has lots of other things going on at this point. Irina points out she has other clients who buy art, but don’t really know much about it. Ahah, says Mónica. Such as Aurelio Casillas?

Leo goes to visit Ponte in the hospital. He asks if she ever was undercover before. She flashes back to after Pablo Escobar had discovered her gun and tortured her, she kept insisting it was from her brother. Pablo then told her, you know what, dearie. I believe you. You seem like a nice chick. But I can’t let down my men, here (his henchmen). You see, they need to realize how we operate. So, sorry hon. He turns to the guys, kill her! At this moment, the army has raided the compound, and Pablo has to make a quick exit. He tells the henchman to kill her anyway. But Leo, just as she did with Bert, uses a combination of pleading, logic that the police are arriving, followed by a quick self defense move, and disarms the assassin, getting his weapon JUST before the police arrive to save her. Wow!

Back to the present. Leo is now at the police station, Marco is reaming out the others for letting Doris slip through their fingers. Calm down, urges Leo. You’re acting as if seeing Eugenia with that other guy really got to you. Nonsense, says Marco, it’s just business. Right. Leo says if only I could have stayed a few more days undercover. The problem was my paisana, Mati, from Colombia. She’s smart. I wonder if she knows about the operation? No way, says Marco, isn’t she just a singer? Oh, replies Leo, offended, so women can’t be more than one thing? Couldn’t a woman be a loyal, skillful drug enforcement agent on the one hand, but also be a loose women who has casual sex with her co-agents? She smiles.

Marco still has to somehow find Danny, when he walks right through the door! We think he’s going to say I give myself up, but he actually says drop all this innuendo about me, I’m completely innocent, how DARE you accuse me! Marco and Leo clear the room, play him the tape. Don’t tell us that’s not your voice! Danny is shaken, but plays tough, of course it’s not! Well, we have other evidence, too. They’re interrupted by a cop who shows them a picture, look General Jiménez’s bodyguard was murdered! Marco has an epiphany, so THAT’s it! You came in here for protection. Your boy Casillas now wants you eliminated! Well, tell you what. We can protect you. But you have to tell us everything you know. If you don’t talk, you go to the normal prison, where Casillas’s guys will find you and kill you. But if you tell us everything, I give you my word, we’ll do everything in our power to protect you. You’ll still go to prison, but a secure military prison. You decide! For now, Danny isn’t talking, and they send him to lockup to think about his choice.

Marco also calls Eugenia, Jiménez Arroyo turned himself in. Yes, you can put it in the paper, but don’t give any details for now, just that we’re investigating. She thanks him for the exclusive, he beams. After he hangs up, Leo dryly observes, just business....huh?

CIELOS:

Also, Bert tells his Dad he killed Alejandro. Aurelio beams with pride, chip off the old block, good job, son! He give him a shot of tequila, and the father-son murderers share a moment of bonding.

LA PATRONA:

Great recap, Novelera, what an episode, with Anibal's suicide, Ricardo and Pati maybe getting together, and Gaby's defense moves.

I was away for a week, what happened to Ines and Luisa?

Only about 3 more episodes, right, tonight, Friday and Monday. I'm loving every minute!

CIELOS

Thanks so much, Hombre. I missed a lot of the dialogue (both between Beto and Alejandro and, especially, between Cabo and Tijeras) that you've so kindly supplied in yet another excellent recap.

I keep wondering what if any connection there is between the meeting in LA between Topo and Randy and the email Turco received from Prince.

The scene between Mónica and Irina was interesting, especially Mónica's taking offense at Irina's saying that she has helped a number of "people like you" to appreciate art. And I enjoyed Mónica's question to Irina about whether she closed the deal with Aurelio in her gallery or in her bed. I remember Mónica's assuring Ramiro that she doesn't get jealous about wives...girl friends, yes, but not wives. Look out, Irina!

CIELOS

One more thought about last night's episode. Leo's flashback to her almost losing her life when infiltrating Pablo Escobar's operation was the scariest one yet. I can't imagine how anyone who has gone through something like that could willingly, even eagerly, become an infiltrator again, as Leo has done.

PASION PROHIBIDA

Forgot to say another thing.....

Having seen Henry Zakka as a corrupt businessman in this novela made me think maybe, just maybe, Igor Mora (LCDAL) was a bastard after all.

Ironic that Martha Pabon plays a victim of her husbands infidelity.

Cielos,

thanks Hombre,
for your usual, everyday, beyond fantastic, recap!

wow, Matilde actually dropped all of her games and told Ximena how sorry she was for Don Cleto's death,

didn't Irina break the ice with Mónica by asking if she knew Alí Benjomeo,

I kept waiting for Gen Dan to mention Aurelio's other high up government contacts,

Beto looks proud to be in his dad's shoes, but of course he doesn't know how that story ends, interesting how the whole narco thing spawns a whole new generation.

Juanita, wasn't it Irina that has a problem with girlfriends?

it's interesting that the "code" always says you never tell the women the truth, even if they already know, (Beto even knew this one when he continued to deny being with Matilde when his mother nailed him on this), but Mónica and Irina are different.

La Patrona,

Hombre,
Tuesday, Tuesday, is the gran final,

Ines and Luisa, hmm, they just kind of disappeared,

Patti is pretty good at confronting things,
and she really talked it all out with Luisa,
but I think she was leaving town anyway, right?

After Luisa, Ricardo flat threw Ines out the door,
and when she went to Patti for help, wrong,
Patti ran her off as well,
I think that is the last we saw of her.

LA PATRONA

Novelera - muchísimas gracias! My CC would not cooperate last night so I missed more than half the dialogue. I didn't know about the seed analogy until I read your recap. Thank you!

I feel great sympathy for 15 year old Antonia, sold into prostitution and most assuredly used and abused for several years before she became Marcelo Beltran's wife. That, of course, could never pardon her crimes, but it gives insight into her cold-blooded outlook on life. She's had 35+ years to turn her life around, but she never did. Her punishment has to include something truly terrible - a lingering, painful death, maybe vigilante justice - no spoiler, just karma.

Alejandro pretty accurately guessed that his mother was going to use that money to have Gabriela killed. Also, didn't Macario tell Ale he'd find out who ordered him to tie up and restrain him and who was going to be killed when Macario finished his work and came back to the stable?

Hombre, Luisa went off to Europe to travel, but Ines is still a loose end.

Like everyone else, I loved ninja Gaby. I wanted her to shoot him in the leg though, to keep him down.

Beth

CIELOS

Ooops, deb, you're quite right! It was Irina who spoke about being jealous of girlfriends but not of wives.

CIELOS:

Juanita- But you weren't far off the mark. Back when Monica and AC came to an agreement on their relationship, she agreed to leave Ximena in peace and to quit bitching about her, but all other women were supposed to be off limits. AC promised, and of course swiftly broke that promise, and often.

LA PATRONA:

I am sure crazy Ines will be back to cause some trouble for Ric and Paty before the grand finale. She will do something really nuts, that will either land her in jail or in a coffin.

LA PATRONA:

I also feel for 15 year old Antonia, but not adult Antonia, for all the reasons everyone has mentioned. She had a choice later on to help people who were vulnerable, like her, and she had good men who loved her, but she chose to use and abuse (and murder) those people.

The main villainess in Amor Bravio (Isadora) had a similar back story. Sold as a child bride to an ancient husband by her family. They showed flashbacks to her early years, and we in the audience really felt for her teen self. But she had many years after that to make correct choices, but she chose greed, deceit, and murder instead. She had a horrific end, which I also wish for Antonia.

CIELOS

Thank you, Hombre, for another excellent recap. This TN just keeps getting more entangled and complex.

I loved Ramiro's "Oh, sh!t!" look when Benitez told his little group that Danny had been arrested.

It would seem that the email Turco got did have something to do with the meeting between Topo and Randy and that Turco is headed to LA to meet with Randy. But I wonder why Turco was so mysterious with AC and didn't tell him about the email - maybe he feared AC would do something crazy -again?!

Irina did ask Mónica if she knew Alí Benjomeo, and that's how Monica guessed Irina is involved with AC. These two cats can barely keep their claws sheathed.

Wonder what Beto did with the body. Maybe it doesn't matter, but he did want people to know he killed Ale….

Beth

CIELOS

Terrific recap, Hombre.

Regarding "are", I also was wondering about that expression. I don't think I've heard it in other TNs. I asked my co-worker from México, and she described it as: "OK, now let's get moving", and also that it came from what you'd say to a horse you wanted to urge on.

As always, the details of the beeznez are a bit murky. Topo has said that he's going to overcome AC's fleet of planes (actually I think he described them falling from the sky) by use of his tunnels.

I wish I could understand the Colombians better or that the novela wasn't on in the 10 pm slot so I could afford to back up and listen many times. I think Cabo plans to set up a couple of labs to produce cocaine from the raw coca and thus become a major player. I also got the impression he planned to play both ends against the middle: supplying to both Aurelio and Topo without either of them knowing about it.

But Aurelio expressed to Chacorta some suspicions about Cabo and Tijeras returning to Colombia just now. So he may be onto them.

Watching Aurelio ramble on, perhaps a bit drunk, to Chacorta, while the velorio for Don Cleto goes on in another room reminded me of Don Corleone making deals while his daughter's wedding reception goes on outside the house.

It was interesting when AC was taken aback that Cleto had an open casket (actually one of those glass covered ones you see in TNs). Ximena gave him a sharp, suspicious look, telling him that this was the normal thing, letting people say goodbye.

CIELOS

Whoops, my second "r" disappeared in my comment about arre. And something on my computer keeps correcting it.

CIELOS

I also noticed that Tijeras keeps grilling Cabo about how he's going to play along with Mónica's plan to "get" AC despite the risk to his life and probably his wallet, since AC is, at least now, a better financial partner than Mónica and/or Topo.

LA PATRONA
Re Ines: I read on Telenovela World that the actress who plays her, Sharon(?) Zundel, is on Que Bonito Amor, so maybe she can't be in the finale due to a noncompete clause?

I haven't been watching CiELOS but I've read the recaps and I agree that TM should continue with producing short, six month tns-it forces the storylines to be taut and straight-forward. PATRONA is exactly six months long in its run but I was on the edge of my seat and loved all of it.

CIELOS:
The actor playing Don Cleto was an absolutely adorable kid. The telemundo website has his baby pic up on the patrona page since he played Tigre and he was a breathtakingly beautiful kid. He seems to be playing a Tigre-like role in Cielos-someone with honor and scruples, even if he's a nsrcotraficante.

DyO - Tues 7/02

So here's a short one, with some scenes condensed for the sake of flow (I know there's a lot missing, so feel free to interject):

Iggy vows to support Pedro through the cancer thing so he doesn’t have to go thru it alone. Ruben walks in. Ruben is curious… who is that guy? I love the brother/sister relationship… Ana and Oscar (?) pull this off really well. Later, Ruben reports to Tomas that Ped-nacia were talking alone.

Oleg tells Neto to get over Mireya--it's never going to happen. Neto makes kicked-puppy-face.

Estela/Karina—battle of the indirectas… Neither one trusts the other, blah blah blah… Later, Karina whines to Tomas about Estela. He’s not sympathetic.

Gina visits Abue Alfonsina and takes her to a surprise lunch at Marge’s place. Marge is impactada at seeing Abue Alf again. The ladies do some catchilng up. Abue Alfonsina informs them that Mariano’s been calling. She thinks Gina might know something about where Mariano is, but Gina says no. Later, Abue asks Marge about Gina’s son. Marge claims to know nothing.

Pedro tells Iggy he wants her to meet with Mamacita’s doctor with him. Tomas interrupts a Ped-nacia hug, erupts into cartoony rage. Iggy calls Gina for help. Tomas fires Iggy and Pedro. Gina (Miss Moneybags) intervenes and unfires them, threatening to pull her money if Tomas doesn’t leave them alone.

Mireya leaves the house on a Mysterious Errand, which turns out to be showing up unannounced in Ignacia’s office, where she, in a nutshell, tells Iggy to stay away from her boyfriend.

JM and Karina go to lunch. Bleck.

Mysterious priest shows up at Estela’s door. He thinks it’s time to tell Ignacia that Mariano wasn’t her father. Priest/Estela have “the talk” in which the plot thickens. I missed a lot of this conversation and didn’t have time to rewatch it, but I know something was revealed… anyone want to fill in the blanks? Estela threatens the priest to keep him quiet.

People who now know that Margartia has cancer: Oleg, Iggy, Pedro, Gina, Tomas.

People who do not know that Margarita has cancer: Margarita (and probably a couple of other people).

LA PATRONA,

Who is Ricardito's father - missed beginning of show.

Many thanks for all the great recapping.

LA PATRONA:

Ricardito's father was Alberto Espino, a young, handsome, but dumb engineer, who was also having an affair with Antonia. She used him to plant the dynamite which blew up the mine, intended to kill Gabriela, but which ended up killing her son Fernando, along with some other mine workers. Alberto was later beaten to death on orders of Antonia to silence him.

Pati was way wilder back then, and enjoyed her fling with Alberto (but apparently they hadn't thought about birth control), but he didn't love her at all, and wanted her to get an abortion, which of course she wouldn't do. Ricardo and she had an attraction, and he agreed to marry her, even though he was impotent (and she knew this).

LA PATRONA

Slight correction, Hombre. Antonia Guerra had Alberto Espino beaten by Lucas and some other thugs. She hoped he would die. She framed Max, Gabriela's younger brother, for the crime. But he didn't die and was on a respirator in the hospital. Guerra herself came in and smothered him with a pillow.

Thanks, Another Amy for the comprehensive recap! I love your brand of whimsy!
I think mostly the priest was telling Estela that she should tell her daughter the truth about parentage. Also that Estela drove Mariano away with her lies and her accusations. Estela stayed busy insulting the priest every way possible without actually calling him a bad name.
Anyone: is Margarita going to need some kind of a transplant, thereby revealing that Pedro is not her son?
Also, I think the race is on for first surprise pregnancy--I am backing Karina.

LA PATRONA:

LA PATRONA Miercoles Cap 124 PART I

GabyVero and Macario continue their face-off. Mac begs for his life as GabyVero renounces her vow that she wouldn't stain her hands with anyone's blood. As she's about to shoot Mac, Ale shows up and stops her; but Mac grabs back the gun and threatens Ale with death if he doesn't move out the way and allow Mac to fulfill the job Guerra sent him on, to kill Veronica Dantes. A stand-off ensues as Gaby and Ale tell Mac to run off and they won't give chase, but Mac refuses. By this time David and Ceci as well as Gaston and Lucho enter the room. 'Now you want to negotiate?' says Macario and as he's about to shoot Ale and GabyVero, Chacon comes out of the shadows to stab Mac in the back. It's gruesome as he stabs Mac slowly four times in front of David and Ceci (who hides her face in David's shirt to not witness the horror), as well as Ale and GabyVero.

A dying Macario asks Gaby's forgiveness and confesses all as Balmy arrives. It was patrona Guerra, he says, who ordered the mine explosion that killed Tigre. She ordered me to shoot Veronica Dantes. She ordered me to kill the child Gabriela Suarez was expecting. She ordered the deaths of Alberto Espino, Julio and Prudencia Montemar. Then he dies in Ale's arms. Ale had made sure he hadn't choked on his own blood, which helped Mac to confess.

when Balmy shows up. It was oatrona Guerra, he

LA PATRONA:

Short scene of Ric and Pati after consummating their marriage. A good time was had by all apparently as Ric wants to make up for lost time and Pati playfully warns Ric not to cheat again. They make up for lost time in earnest.

Balmy tells Guerra she achieved her goal of getting Aníbal to kill himself. He knows because of the note she sent-he'll have it analyzed to see if it matches her handwriting-and the noose she sent, too. As they discuss this, Balmy gets a call from La Forteleza telling him about the stand-off. You won't get away with this one, he tells Guerra.

Guerra calls Macario to find out what happened and Ale answers his phone. 'Your plan failed Mama. Mac is dead and Veronica is alive.' Antonia decides to run off since her grand plan failed, but she's stopped by a gun-toting Poncia, who tells her she won't run off. Guerra manages to get the gun from Poncia by pleading that they're family and distracting Poncia. She ends up shooting Poncia in the arm, accidentally, in the process and runs off saying that Poncia is useless even when hating people. (Isn't that the same problem Alejandro has? Hint, hint). As she runs from La Dorada Guerra is busted by Gonzalez and arrested, cuffs and all. She's taken back to the house where we see Balmy, and Ale surrounding the injured Poncia, who tells Balmy Guerra shot her and tried to kill her. Guerra is detained because of the witnesses-the three ex-prostitutes-Estrella, Lucecita and Eugenia-plus abogado Monsalves who tried, but failed to register Tigre's mine. These, along with Mac and Lucas' deathbed confessions, can get Guerra behind bars.

GabyVero goes over the lobo list on the IPad and crosses out Mac's face to signify his death.
She remembers her promise to Tigre to defend the family and tells Tigre only one lobo is left, and once she gets rid of her, she'll be free.

Back at La Dorada Ale and Balmy face-off with Guerra who is whining on and on about how the two men she loves-Balmy and Ale- don't love her. Ale says dear old Mom doesn't know the meaning of love. Dear old Mom says Ale never loved her and isn't her son. (This sounds like a fact and less of anger at Ale's refusal to back her shenanigans). Ale says he is Guerra's son, but from now on he no longer wants to be Called as such because he can't be the son of someone like her. (He cut thr aprin string, y'all!)
she'll be free.

LA PATRONA: MIERCOLES-PART III

A detained Guerra whines about Balmy being paid off by Vero. Balmy tells her to confess and he'll get her sentence reduced. Seems she's losing it, but a liberated Ale says there's nothing backward with her mind, but her heart is
backward. She isn't crazy.

Gaston tells everyone on the radio about Macario's death and his confessions about the vuida negra.

Ale is back at the hotel and Lucho meets him with bottle of liquor which Ale drinks with gusto. That's to be expected with the day and mother you have. I never knew who my mother was, says Lucho, but even though I thought she was a disgrace for abandoning me at a church's door with only a note telling everyone my name, your mother Alejandro, beats her with interest.

Gaston's radio broadcast about Mac's death and his confessions lead to a public uproar-the townspeople want to lynch Guerra and gather outside the jail to do so. Alejandro returning back to the jail gets beat up and nearly lynched for being the son of an asesina. Vero stops it by reminding tbe townspeople Ale was good to the miners, that she built the hospital and a dam to provide the town with drinking water. If you love me, she tells the townspeople, as she walks into the crowd and falls into it, please don't hurt Alejandro Beltran. 'The patrona (Vero) orders you all not to.' Gaston, and a disguised Lucho (in cop dress) grab Ale from the calmed down crowd.

Vero goes to the hospital because she's bleeding after her fall into the crowd and she's scared she miscarried. As she goes off with Patti and Coni, Lucho asks Gaston what's wrong with his loquita menor. If you don't tell me, he warns, I'll follow them. Gaston tells Lucho GabyVero is pregnant by Ale and he's surprised.

LA PATRONA MIERCOLES CAP 124 PART IV

Antonia's lawyer tells her her case is hopeless. Autopsies, if done on Marcos Beltran, Valentina Vidal and Val's abuela Natalia San Martin, and showing that they were poisoned-we know they were, right viewers?-will, along with Mac and Lucas' confessions send Guerra off to jail for so long, her life isn't long enough to serve the entire sentence. Guerra whines that Vero suely must have paid off the lawyer too, since it doesn't matter the crime, if you have money you can get away with any thing. The lawyer quits because, he says, everyone around you ends up dead, Sra Guerra, and all the money in the world you'll pay won't do me any good if I'm dead.

Ric shows up at the police precinct representing Francisca, who wants to denounce Guerra for Tigre and Max's deaths. I'm sorry Alejandro, Ric says, but your mother has to pay for her crimes. I know, says Ale, but I have to denounce her too for the deaths of my brother and Valentina.

Lucho and Ale are outside the police precinct and Lucho tells Ale to just cooperate and follow him because he has to see something... We see GabyVero in the hospital with a doctor examining her to see if her baby is fine. Everything looks fine, the doctor says, the baby is well implanted and looks fine. Good, says, Vero, This baby is my great hope in life. Ale is listening behind the door and overhears this and he smiles, obviously thrilled Vero is pregnant.

Poncia shows up at Guerra's jail cell looking fierce with her hair let down, a fitted white jacket, over a black shift dresd and black high heels. Even with her arm sling, she looks great! She tells Guerra, who says Poncia looks guapa, that she gave Balmy the suitcase with the money she was gonna give Macario as more proof of the Vero hit planned. Poncia also gives Guerra a mirror to look at herself and notice her downfall, but Guerra throws down the mirror. Poncia walks out wishing Guerra happy stay behind bars.

Ale comes through the doors he was behind to let Vero know he kmows she's pregnant. The doctor says GabyVero needs to rest and Ale promises he'll tie GabyVero to the bed if he needs to get her to rest. He's pretty much the happiest gut in the world he says, and says, the baby, Lucia, David and he and GabyVero will make agreat family. They make up and Ale tells GabyVero he loves her and Tomasito.

Ale finds out from the pediatrician treating Lucia tjat GabyVero had volunteered already to donate the umbilical cells when Tomasito is born to help Lucia. Ale goes to Vero's to thank her for donating, because that's how he knows she's still the same Gabriela-her soul never changed-but GabyVero doesn't get what he means, while Ale seems to be saying goodbye to her since he says, whatever happens, he'll always be thankful for what GabyVero has done by giving him a child and donating the cord blood to Lucia.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Miércoles, Part 1

So why did Irina come to visit Mónica? Curiosity. She just wanted to see what Aurelio's “other” lover looked like. Mónica assures her that whomever Aurelio takes to bed, SHE's the only lover. Irina is bemused, you really don't see all the things he's done to get you out of his business and his life? As they part, Mónica tells Triste, don't kill her now, I want to find her weakness, and make her suffer BEFORE I kill her!

She then tells Triste to prepare for the meeting with Aurelio, where she's going to kill HIM. Triste gives her a look. You think I'll get cold feet at the last minute? No way. He killed my brothers. And after we kill him, we'll take over his whole organization. The Róbles family will be back in power (dream on, Mónica).

Dressed in a see through white blouse, barely tied above the waist over a black bra, skin tight silver jeans, she meets with Topo, and tells him her Colombian source is none other than Cabo. Topo can't believe this, Cabo is supplying Aurelio. Trust me, says Mónica, he's with me (we know that Cabo has told Tijeras to increase production since they're supplying BOTH). And Aurelio's going down. Topo says Aurelio's dangerous, may have killed his own father in law. He could try to whack you, Mónica. She smiles, I know what I'm doing. I'm not like his suegro, who turned a blind eye for a while. I'm not like his little wife, whom he controls like a dishrag. Topo agrees, Mónica is some broad. Triste brings in the newspaper, she takes a look, tells Topo the fall of Aurelio Casillas is even nearer than they thought!

Chacorta tells Mati to pack her bags, we're going to Colombia. She doesn't want to, what about her career? Just pack. He exits. Mati grabs Bert, are you gonna be mean to me, too? What happened to that nice innocent young man? And where's Alejandrito? Bert stares at her, forget about him, he's gone on to “other horizons.” Why don't you just obey your husband and get pregnant? That's what woman are good for, no?

“Prince”is in fact, Randy. Turco meets with him in Los Angeles. Randy tells him that Topo wants to do business with him, and has said that Aurelio's empire is coming down. But we're like brothers, should I turn down Topo? No, for now accept his shipments. Turco says Aurelio does have some problems, he even killed his own father in law in a fit of rage. Ah, says Randy, what power does to animals. But you should be happy, now Ximena can cry on your shoulder. Turco is surprised, but Randy says he's known for a long time. Turco admits he has feelings for Ximena, and wants to help her escape to the US. Randy will see what he can do to smooth the way. Turco has one last favor. From now on, refer to me as “the Trojan” when you talk to Topo. Things are gonna change, Randy, faster than you can imagine.

EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS, Part 2

We have a whole lot of scenes with Alfonso and Eugenia, Leo and Marco, Eugenia and Marco. Suffice it to say that there's a lot of jealousy, all over the map. Marco is mad at Eugenia for sleeping with Alfonso. Leo is guilty, knows that Marco still has feelings for Eugenia. But she admits she's falling in love with Marco, although it's an impossible love, and she's so ashamed of what she had to do at that ranch, no one would want to be with someone who sank so low. She should go back to Colombia. No, says Marco, stay. We've been through so much, if you leave, none of this makes any sense. A single tear rolls down Leo's face, and they kiss.

Later, Eugenia comes to the office, wearing a chaste white peasant dress, ostensibly to thank Marco for the scoop (primícia), but really because when she saw how upset he was at seeing her and Alfonso, she realized he still cared for her. Leo, dressed in a halter top, had just about kissed Marco right in the office. Eugenia admits she loves Marco, but he's so bent out of shape about her and Alfonso he says go your own way. Eugenia's big brown eyes fill with tears, she thought......She leaves. And Leo and Marco now can give free rein to their feelings. Or can they?

Aurelio tries to get close to Ximena, but she brushes him off. That night, he has nightmares about killing Don Cleto, about Don Cleto's last words that Aurelio would picture Don Cleto when he looked at his kids, when Ximena abandoned him!

After a funeral service at the ranch (they had to pay the Priest to come), Ximena and the women go off to bury Don Cleto. Aurelio and Chacorta can't go to the cemetery, could be police there. Chacorta shows Aurelio the newspaper, General Jiménez Arroyo arrested! Whoa, Aurelio thought he was dead. He's going to have a talk with Cabo, was he betrayed? After he leaves, up saunters Matilde, who has changed into a different mourning outfit, this one strapless tight black top, necklace of huge gold rings, skintight pants, super high heels. Yes, very appropriate. Since Chacorta won't let her go on her record tour, she has a new idea. She discovered the snitch. She's a hard worker. So, she'll be the new head of Casillas security! Chacorta is not impressed.

LA PATRONA:

Great recap, J desde NYC, thank you very much! And good insights, as usual, into the characters.

So now we know that Poncia and Antonia are cousins, their mothers were sisters. And Poncia even wore Antonia's clothes to the jail (didn't realize they were the same size), after all, they share everything, right?

Antonia remarks that Poncia could never betray her, she's the only one left. Ironically, the mirror Poncia brought in to allow Antonia to look at herself, may not turn out to be as innocuous as it seemed at first.

Antonia keeps asking how much all her enemies paid each other off to go against her. I'm not sure if she really believes that people testify only for money, or it's all just bluster. And she also thinks she can still win this trial, trials are about power, not about the truth. She says justice is blind, but mischaracterizes that platitude. That's supposed to mean that everyone gets judged equally. But Antonia is using it to mean anything goes in a trial. I think she's a bit blind about this!

CIELOS

Muchas gracias, Hombre, for yet another terrific recap. You keep making me realize how much I miss (that's NOT a complaint--¡para nada!).

So even Randy knew that Turco had a thing for Ximena. I don't think Turco was all that pleased when Randy said this. As he pointed out, such words could cost him (Turco) his life.

So what are we to make of Turco's wanting Randy to refer to him as "the Trojan"? As in the Trojan horse? Turco is playing an increasingly dangerous game.

The interchange between Leo and the imprisoned Danny was interesting, both because he at first seemed as if he could appeal to her as owing him something (he brought her to Mexico), and then his threat that if she's the main witness against him, she'd better watch her back. But who can he get to do her in? The three little pigs (Ramiro, Castro, y Huerta)? I think they'll be more interested in doing him in, to prevent his testifying against them. Ramiro made his fears clear in his discussion with Irina. He also suggested that both of them should keep their distance from Aurelio, though he snidely suggested that in her case, that may not be possible.

So Mati thinks she should be head of security. When pigs fly.

LA PATRONA:

Thanks so much J desde NYC. This was quite an episode. Seems the only one who doesn’t realize how far Antonia Guerra has fallen is Antonia Guerra. I think at this point Gabi needs to step away and back. She’s done all she can to bring Guerra down. All Guerra’s people have turned on her. Let them and the law take care of finishing her off.

So glad Ale knows the truth about the baby. I don’t think in their final conversation that Ale let Gabi know that he knows about the cord blood. He hinted around at it. That’s why she didn’t know why he was saying how generous she is. But this was just what he needed to know that Gabi, at her core, is still the same person. Nothing like Guerra.

I really wish Poncia were Ale’s mother, but wouldn’t that have come out already. In any case, does Ale know that Poncia is his aunt? And does David know she’s his great aunt? And hey, doesn’t that mean Cecilia is related to Ale, David and Guerra since she’s Poncia’s niece? This family tree is beginning to look very twisted.

LA PATRONA:

I guess Ceci wouldn't be related if she's Poncia's niece from her father's side.

CIELOS:

Muchas gracias Hombre! Lots of interesting setups this episode.

Just what is Turco up to? I’m glad he’s securing Ximena’s escape to L.A. with the powerful Randy. But his chances of coming out of his “Trojan” plan, whatever it is, alive are slim.

Same thing with Monica. I love her idea for getting rid of AC, but I’m not putting my money on her in a showdown with AC. I will put money on her in a showdown with Irina.

It was funny to me that Mati was lamenting the loss of the innocent sweet boy Beto was because she is partially responsible for killing that sweet boy—she and AC. Ximena had been fighting tooth and nail for him to remain that sweet, good boy and turn into an honorable man. Mati got great pleasure in thwarting Ximena’s efforts, and it looks like next episode Mati reaps the very bitter rewards of the man/monster Beto has become.

LA PATRONA:

Hombre, great to see you're around. Loved last night's ep. No, that broken mirror is not innocuous if you saw the escenas proximas and the avance especial they have on YouTube.

That Macario/Chacon death scene was subtle, raw and brutal-if that makes any sense. The blood even hit one of the tan couches, giving it a realistic touch. I have to say the actor who plays Macario, Pakey Vazquez, had the best throes face. And he managed to say more than 'Fue ella' and confesses to everything Guerra had done by her nombre y apellido. But even in death he was still respectful to Guerra. He called her patrona Guerra even when he was ratting her out.

Antonia seems to be crazy as a fox, and I'm glad Ale told Balmy that it's not her mind that's sick, but her heart. Balmy tends to watch Ale's reaction to his mother to see how he should act towards Guerra. I'm so glad Ale finally disowned her. I screamed at the TV, 'Yes! Finalmente!'

Lucho and Ale are officially
friends now since Lucho had the liquor waiting for Ale after the stand-off, and took him to the hospital to let him know Vero was preggers and Ale was the one who called Lucho over to La Forteleza during the stand-off

The justice is blind phrase she perverted for her own use just speaks to her complete
depravity.

LA PATRONA:

Vivi, yeah, I know Ale was only hinting around the cord blood donation to Vero, which was odd to me, as well as the way iat sounded as if he was saying goodbye to her when he said he'd always be thankful to her. It felt like a silk-covered anvil over Ale.

Poncia and Guerra are first cousins, so Cecilia is Ale's second cousin once removed since Cecilia is Poncia's dead sister's daughter. I don't think Ale knows he's related to Poncia through Guerra, even though I hope Poncia is his mother. I thought it strange Guerra didn't kill Poncia when she had the chance. It was the first only truly merciful thing Guerra has done.

JdesdeNYC- I answered my own question Ceci would not be blood related to Guerra, David or Ale if she is Poncia's niece via Poncia's father. Guerra and Poncia are related via their mothers. But I don't think we've ever known what part of Poncia's family Ceci comes from, have we?

LA PATRONA:

Further clarification-- In LatAm, a niece is not just your sibling's child, but also the child of your cousin. But yes, if Ceci is the child of one of Poncia's full (or half by her morher) siblings, she would be related to Guerra and all her offspring.

Cielos

Great Hombrem tks
& Vivi for comments
I don't see Turco/Trojan getting out of this alive but I'm rooting for Ximena & the little kids to make it.

I think I saw ultimos capitulos, anyone know when this ends?
There are still a lot of people to whack.

I don't think its unusual to pay (reward) a priest for a funeral or wedding. The narcos probably had to pay more, it probably goes to the church.

Cielos
Where did that m come from?

CIELOS:

I originally had a part 3, but I must have somehow deleted it. Here's some more of what happened.

Ximena asks Bert where's Alejandro. Bert says I don't know, I'm not his babysitter, and stalks off. Xime tells Turco she thinks she's lost him. Turco tells her he's made some success in getting her out of the country.

Ramiro tells Irina that Danny turned himself in. It was fear. If Danny talks, they could all be in trouble. He counsels Irina that he's going to distance himself from Aurelio, and she should, too, although she probably wants him "on top" of her.

Aurelio meets with Cabo, finds out that Cabo didn't betray him, just shot the wrong guy, they should have had a photo. He tells Cabo business can resume, then. But he calls Chacorta, tells him to secretly go to Mexico, keep an eye on Cabo and Tijeras, and surprise them, give them a scare (se ponen las truchas, or something like that).

So Chacorta tells Mati to unpack her bags (deshacer las maletas), she's NOT going to Colombia. Fine, she says, what about my head of security thing? Well, that's up to Aurelio, your job is to get pregnant. But Victor, I told you I don't want to. Tough, babe, in this marriage, there's only one boss. Me.

Leonor, after being insulted by Danny, informs him that he's going down. Danny then tells Marco, okay, I'm ready to give my statement.

CIELOS:

Thanks for the last part Hombre. I bet Doris is glad she got to Brazil. I hope Dan gets a chance to throw Ramiro under the bus before he gets whacked.

So, is Marco in love with both Leo and Eugenia?

LA PATRONA:

When Ceci was introduced, Poncia told Guerra Ceci was her sister's daughter. I think the sister was called Ximena. So, it seems Poncia, Guerra and Ceci are all cousins.

I didn't know in LatAm a niece/nephew could be your cousin's child. You learn something new every day, I guess.

Cielos,

thanks Hombre,

so tomorrow night will be a special,
"Los 20 Momentos Más Impactantes de El Señor de Los Cielos"

it seemed out of place that Turco would tell Randy that Aurelio killed Cleto,
these two must be pretty close,

it's interesting watching Gen Dan,
(although he is a full general we always see him by himself),
he is a master at playing all sides,
and against all odds he is still standing,

It seems Aurelio, with his hair and all, is giving us this look,
that maybe he isn't so sharp on his game,
and those around him are sensing it as well,

La Patrona,

wow, what a show,
thanks for the recap J desdeNYC,

well, I guess that's a wrap,
the bad guys are dead, Antonia is in jail,
what could possibly go wrong now?
and why am I worried?

loved Francisco "Pakey" Vázquez (Macario Gaitán) performance,
I could almost like his character,

González cuffs Antonia,
but that didn't last for long,
she seems to be walking around free everywhere,
driving me nuts,

Gastón, in his purple velvet dinner jacket,
announces Antonia's fall,

ah yes, Alejandro,
first he bursts in and let's Macario take the gun from Gabriela,
then he bursts in to be taken hostage by the town,
(Gabriela loves him so we need to look out for this guy)

and his odd couple roommate, officer Duende,
drags him to the hospital to witness Gabriela's sonogram,

now that Antonia is all but sunk,
Ricardo is really on the bandwagon,

loving Poncia!
give us a twirl,

and Lagarto,
where did he go?

LA PATRONA

Wow, J desdeNYC! Super recap, great detail. There was so much happening last night, and you got it all. Thank you so much.

I had to laugh at Antonia running down that slope in the uber high heels. Kudos to Christian Bach for not falling on her face.

Even though he deserved a death penalty, I felt bad for Macario, beaten and stabbed to death. And I guess I wasn't too surprised that he apologized to Gabriela before he died.

It's hard to believe (even in SPdO) that Poncia would be allowed to bring a GLASS mirror to an inmate. Broken mirror - bad omen.

Poncia looked beautiful! And since she's Fernando's 2nd cousin, doesn't that make her David's 3rd cousin? And Ceci only a distant relation to David, not enough to prevent marriage?

Sweet scenes of Ale, SO happy, telling Gabriela how much he has wanted a child with her, how happy their family will be and that he's thankful she's still his Gabriela. But then that "whatever happens" comment from him was a little chilling.

I have a very bad feeling about Antonia. She won't go down easy. And we still have several episodes to go. I expect more escape attempts and murder.

Beth

It's so nice to see that Turco has a bro that he can talk to about important stuff. This doesn't bode well, though, for Cabo and Topo.

So I may have been more on Matilde's side than she deserves, but how would she NOT be a good security person (besides the fact that she's a girl)? She is the only one who suspected Leo, since she's the only one who didn't want to sleep with her. That's a plus in her favor. And she's good at ordering people around. If the boys would listen to her, she might have some good ideas. Except for the sleeping-with-her-nephew one. Looks like that's going to bite her in the nalgas.

Kelly

CIELOS

Thanks, Hombre, for part 3.

So there's no Cielos tonight, and tomorrow, according to deb, we get "Los 20 Momentos Más Impactantes de El Señor de Los Cielos." I hope they do a better job with this "20 Momentos" than they did when they showed La Reina del Sur. There, IIRC, they simply chose the 20 goriest moments.

CIELOS

Whoops. The above was for El Senor.

K

Patrona:

J- It's more of a generational thing. One of my good Colombian friends couldn't understand why I was calling my cousin, who is my mother's age by first name and saying she was my cousin. By generation I should have been addressing her as aunt and she should have been addressing me as niece. We get some clues to how these family relations are viewed in Spanish by the name for first cousin-- primo hermano.

Cielos
Matilde would be ok as detective, but she can't keep her mouth shut.

CIELOS

Hombre - many, many thanks for a great recap. There's so much I miss, like ” Why don't you just obey your husband and get pregnant? That's what woman are good for, no?" Wow! Scary how Beto has so quickly morphed into his father's son.

Mónica is probably the only character in this tragedy who can go toe-to-toe with AC. When she told Triste, "Don't kill her (Irina) now, I want to find her weakness, and make her suffer BEFORE I kill her!", I had no doubt that she'll make good on her threat.

I loved Mati's qualifications for chief of Casillas security: she discovered the snitch, she found her gun, she's a hard worker. I think Mati has a little ADHD and is feeling grandiose.

So is Randy Turco's brother or "like a brother"? I thought he said "like a brother", but I'm frequently wrong. Whatever the relationship, Turco trusts Randy with his life and with Ximena's and the girls' lives.

I'm wondering if the "Trojan" part refers to smuggling Ximena and the girls into LA with a shipment? If so, they should also invite Aida and Victorcito.

Beth

CIELOS

Beth, I too think that "Trojan" refers to the Trojan horse, and that, as you say, perhaps Ximena and the girls will be smuggled in inside some shipment.

And yes, I think Turco and/or Randy spoke of their being "like" brothers, not actual blood brothers.

We see Leo has been quite affected by her experiences both with Escobar and in trying to infiltrate Aurelio's empire. I wonder how she'll feel when she learns that Alejandro has been killed. She may well suspect Aurelio rather than Beto, but that hardly matters. I have a feeling it will hit Leo pretty hard.

CIELOS

Juanita - I think Ale's death will hit several people very hard - Leo (as you were pointing out), Ximena, Mati and Alba. Since Ale never got on the plane for LA/Mexico/wherever(?), I'm sure his absence will quickly come to light. I wonder about the location of the body because if Ximena finds out he was killed on the ranch, she will immediately blame AC. Mati, on the other hand will be more inclined to think maybe Beto did it. Whatever happens, the family that once was AC's comfort and support is rapidly falling apart.

Beth

Cielos
In case you will miss your narcodrama tonight, there is a documentary on MSNBC tonight at 11PM EST about the cocaine cowboys in Miami in the 70's & early 80's.

Do we know what documents Ximena & the kids had when they went to Houston? I think they went Aurelio airline. Turco has a travel agency & Randy has connections.

CIELOS:
I co-sign watching the cocaine cowboys documentary. It's mostly about Griselda Blanco, a fierce and brutal, Colombian female narco don. I think Telemundo or another Spanish language station plan on making a telenovela based on her life. She died last Oct in Colombia. I got the sense Antonia Guerra's character in LP was based on her since Griselda also had been an underage prostitute in Colombia. The guy who was one of her enforcers is a pretty despicable character, but the plainspoken way he tells the drug lord tales is riveting.

Cielos
They think Griselda killed 200 people, she has Monica beat by a mile.
And she sure didn't look anything like Monica.

Cielos,

trivia,
Alexander Holtmann who plays Randy is also listed as playing Arthur Kelley in La Patrona, anyone remember this character.

La Patrona,

so many things have happened in this show, I've been trying to remember why Lagarto hates Macario, so, if I got this right, Lagarto killed Julio Montemar, and I don't remember how he got caught, was it an anonymous letter... did he suspect Antonia for turning him in, did he suspect Macario might kill him to keep him from talking, but anyway he became a fugitive, ahhh, he went to Macario's new place for help, and then the police showed up, ahha, so he returned and burned the place down, and the feud was on, right?

what's interesting is that Lagarto is his usual brutal and abusing self, but he now seems to be careful not to harm any innocent people, has he really turned a corner, if you could call it that, and directed his attention to the evil that has surrounded him, or is that too complicated to explain why he wants to kill Antonia,

Veronica held a gun to his head, but I doubt he would lift a finger to harm her, which brings up another point, that Macario, who also had a gun to his head, asked Gabriel, sincerely, for her forgiveness, before he died, as matter of fact, anyone that knows Gabriela, including the whole town, knows her for her golden heart, so what's with Alejandro just figuring this out.

LP

I don't know how many of you LP watchers stay up late, but Diego Soldano was on a show (Titulares y Mas) talking about his neked scene with the blond with the tornado hair. If I had known earlier that this scene would happen, I would have watched La Patrona. They really should advertise these things better.

Kelly

La Patrona:

Kelly there is a reason why we were calling him Hot Rod and Balmy. He definitely turned up the heat with those naked hotel room scenes. :)

CIELOS and other Narcotelenovelas

Variopinta, yes, real life Griselda didn't look anything like Monica. In fact, that was what made the show Pablo Escobar so different (Griselda's character was in it). That is, all the characters were NORMAL looking. They looked very much like the real people, as the producers often intercut actual footage from the horrendous murders Pablo Escobar did in the 80's and 90's.

In Cielos, we have a whole cast of beautiful people, women, Monica, Irina, Matilde, Ximena, Leo, Eugenia, and men, Aurelio, Marco, even Danny is good looking, yes I know some of the characters are not, but many are.

In contrast, in Pablo Escobar, no one was beautiful. And they wore ugly clothes, too, from Pablo's white sneakers and workout sweatpants to his average looking wife's big shouldered frumpy dresses. This made the show VERY chilling, very real, very different from CIELOS, which is hard hitting, but sort of fantasy. La Reina del Sur, as great as it was, also was filled with beautiful people, especially the lead, and her best friend, a tall blonde model type, and her boyfriends, who were super handsome. Even some of the bad guys, such as Gabriel Porras (although they tried to make him less handsome).

Cielos
on Cocaine Cowboys, there was an enforcer that I would swear was Cabo, complete with hat, heavy mustache.

They showed flattering pictures of Griselda, she was muy fea in her mug shot.

This comment has been removed by the author.

CIELOS & NARCOS:

Wow! This Griselda lady was something else. I just read about her, and found this passage:

"She was married to a fellow Cocaine smuggler named Alberto Bravo. The story goes that one time Blanco was convinced that Alberto had stolen millions in profits from their shared empire. Griselda met Alberto and his bodyguards in a parking lot armed only with a pistol and her anger towards Bravo. They started to argue to the point where Griselda took the pistol out, shot Alberto several times, took the Uzi out of his waistband and then proceeded to mow down the six other men in Alberto's entourage. She was wounded in the fight but overcame her injuries, Alberto and his six buds were not soo lucky. This was a milestone in Griselda’s cocaine career as she murdered not only her husband but one of her biggest competitors."

LA PATRONA

Deb - I looked and looked and looked but cannot find "Arthur Kelley" in LaP. Supposedly he was in the opening episode (and probably he was), but he must be one of the bearded miners. If he is, he's coveed with dirt, dust and hair and not recognizable (at least by me!).

Beth

INDEPENDENCE DAY

Did anybody see this last night? Telemundo was the only one with an american spirit lol! I browsed other channels and not one of them played anything 4th of july related (that i know of).

I already have this movie on blu-ray so there was no need to see it on Telemundo. I watched it right after breakfast. The special effects and soundtrack were on par with star wars imo. Seen Will Smith in a bunch of other movies but ID4 brought him to fame. The Jurassic Park guy, Ian Malcom (forgot his real name) plays a programmer. Randy Quaid the guy who goes kamikaze on the saucer (Seen him in Not Another Teen Movie). I dont think i saw Bill Pullman in any other films. Really liked his character, something about him makes me think of JFK.

But there were too many errors.

When the actress playing Smiths girlfriend breaks the door and hides in the shelter, the fireball flies right by them. Even if that were possible in real life the heat wave wouldve fried them.

Smith can knock out an Alien and yet not one of the doctors could handle it (Shouldve called him to knock it out again!).

Empire State building is the center of new york. (Times square in real life)

How is it that the sleazeball secretary of defense knows about Area 51 and the commander of the entire military doesnt?!

The alien that killed Smiths buddy why didnt it target him next? I guess the aliens believe in the code of the warrior...

And lastly the aliens have shields for their fighter, and destroyers but nothing to protect their computer from viruses?!

Coming up next folks Independence Day 2: Those dastardly Aliens return, but this time they've installed Norton Antivirus!

Oh yeah, if the Executives at Telemundo watched this last night i bet they were secretly pissed that Miami wanst blowtorched!

LA PATRONA

Thanks so much for the terrific recap, JdesdeNYC!

I didn't have the energy to even push the button on my computer to boot it up yesterday. 4th of July was the last day in a serious heat wave we've had - rare for the Bay Area. I work way south of where I live, so we had 95 to 100 degree days for a week at my workplace. Thankfully, the air conditioning in the building is only 18 months old and works very well.

I was also nervous about Antonia. At one point she had handcuffs on, but they were somehow removed and she was shown hands loose at La Dorada and, later, walking around the police station as if she owned the place. But she finally did end up in a cell. I kept expecting her to get out of there for a big womanhunt.

I will do a recap tonight. And I volunteer for the final; it's Tuesday, right? That seems odd. They usually finish on a Monday, with the new show starting on Tuesday. If I've got it wrong, someone chime in please.

CIELOS

Thanks so much, Hombre, fine recap!

I have a feeling Beto may go down as well as his father. He's turning into a first-class sh!t! Of course, it's funny watching Mati unable to manipulate him any more. But his behavior toward his mother is despicable.

I also hope Ramiro is caught. Every time he throws that little hissy fit and proclaims himself El Primo del President de la República and thus untouchable, I'm sure his hubris will guarantee a bad end.

DyO Viernes 7/05

Well, I watched Wed's episode but didn't get a chance to recap--no episode yesterday, and just finished watching tonight's... currently without a laptop so didn't get any note-taking done, so this is from (my terrible) memory...

Ignacia tells Tomas she doesn't want to marry him. He gets desperate and publishes the wedding announcement in the paper thinking that it will make it harder for her to cancel the wedding. Mariano sees the announcement from lejos and calls Estela to reprimand her for not telling him his daughter is getting married.

It seems Iggy is trying to distance herself from Pedro and is handing off the personal "help" she promised to give Pedro's mom to someone else. Pedro has overheard Iggy say "of course I'm not in love with Pedro, he has nothing to do with it" to Tomas, so now he's all kicked-puppy.

Ruben is blowing Lupita off after they did the deed in Wed's episode. Lupita (and NO ONE ELSE) is shocked, and does a lot of squeaking at people.

Gina is trying to "parent trap" Olegario and Margarita, and Marge is all about it but Oleg, while wanting to be supportive, still has eyes for Gina. This story line is painful... the writers give her cancer, AND an unrequited love?? At the same time? Seriously. Marge better get something out of this novela.

And, on the subject of Marge, Ignacia (unaware that Marge doesn't know she has cancer--because, I mean, who WOULDN'T know they had cancer) mentions an oncologist, and Marge FINALLY discovers the news. POBRECITA. But, at the same time, thank God she finally knows!

Oh, yeah, and Tomas enlists Ruben to plant "stolen" money in Pedro's stuff, framing him for the missing check.

(I just have to report that in Wed's episode, JM catches Karina and Tomas in a compromising position in his office, and--unlike many brain-cell-deficient tn galans--draws the correct conclusions, despite Karina's attempts to dissuade him, going immediately to warn Ignacia. I love this man more every day.)

That's all I remember for now. I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies or giant holes. Hope everyone had a great 4th!

LA PATRONA – VIERNES – Part 1

Lagarto got clean away in one of the vehicles from La Fortaleza. He’s shown up at the hospital [another one of those infamous telenovela hospitals with really crappy security]. He holds a gun to the head of one of the nurses and tells her he wants dialysis.

In her cell, Antonia Guerra remembers Gabriela Suárez telling her in the nuthouse that she’d have her on her knees before her. She finally connects the dots. She says that she had Gabriela Suárez right in front of her eyes but didn’t want to realize it.

All the tigres, even Ricardito and Lucía, are gathered together at La Fortaleza. It appears that Alejandro is over his conflicted feelings about his mother and Gabriela and is 100% tigre. Lucho is making an announcement. He tells them that they are all his family. He says how much he loves Irene and that she’s been responsible for a great change in him. Balmy walks into the room, scaring the tigres. But Lucho says he’s come there because he, Lucho, asked him to. He puts out his hands for the esposas.

Irene is beside herself. Balmy comes up with his usual line about his duty. Ale asks Balmy not to handcuff Lucho in front of the children. Lucho tells Alejandro that, when he gets out, he wants to be a second dad to Lucía. Ale tells him that he already is. Irene pleads with Balmy about all the years Lucho spent being tortured in the nuthouse, so what more does Balmy want. Ricardo says he’ll defend Lucho. Lucho asks Balmy if he’ll stick to the deal they made. Our newly canonized Lucho says that he agreed to give himself up only if Balmy agreed to haga la vista gorda (look the other way) and not accuse the tigres of being his accomplices.

Chacón asks the nurse how long he can live after the dialysis. She says a week, maybe more. He tells her that will be enough time before he shuffles off to hell to pay back one more debt.

Lucho throws barbs at Antonia from his adjoining cell.

Uh oh! More bad premonitions from Francisca. She has dreamed that Gabriela and David are in an exploding mine. [I like Fran, but sometimes her premonitions serve as spoilers I’d rather not see.]

Irene comes to see Lucho, and they launch into another round of cursilerías. She’s allowed in his cell, apparently the custom in SpdO and has brought him breakfast. Antonia can’t keep her trap shut and pipes up that Irene has fallen a long way from being her daughter-in-law to the girlfriend of a criminal. Irene tells her to shut it, and that Guerra just can’t bear to see anyone happy, especially since no one is visiting HER!

Ricardo and Alejandro are meeting with the same judge who was in charge of Aníbal’s trial. They tell her they want to give El Chamuco back to los Suárez. Alejandro says his mother and Villegas got it illegally, and he wants justice. The judge tells him this is complicated because all the profits of the mine would need to be retroactively given to the new owners. Ale says that his mother and Villegas definitely have enough to do that. The judge decides to give Ricardo and Ale a power of attorney that they can use to manage their parents' confiscated funds.

LA PATRONA – VIERNES – Part 2

The nurse has been rescued and tells Balmy and Gonzo that Chacón didn’t hurt her. He only wanted a few more days of life. Balmy figures out what Viewerville also has: that what he wants is to kill Antonia Guerra.

Francisca tells Gabriela and David about her dream of their being trapped in the mine. David shows some of his uncle’s old stupidity by saying no one should worry. He’s going to investigate the mine before he goes to college! Francisca is all over him. Look at the grandchild of El Tigre, just as stubborn. She makes them promise they won’t go near the mine.

Balmy asks Antonia if she has any idea where Chacón might hide. She looks pretty good in her cell. Her only flaw appears to be a bit of wayward mascara on her lower eyelid. Balmy is worried Chacón could try to kill her when she’s transported to the state prison. Antonia tells Balmy that she wants to wipe him from her memories.

There’s another gathering at La Fortaleza. Ricardo reads a document that he and Alejandro have signed, as the heirs of Aníbal Villegas and Antonia Guerra, that cedes absolute rights to El Chamuco to its real owners: Francisca Mogollón and Gabriela Suárez. Ale also states that they not only get the mine, but all the profits to date. He says they owe this to El Tigre.

Poncia is hanging out alone at La Dorada. David has come to get some things of Antonia’s to take to the jail. Poncia, efficient as always, has the bag already packed. David admits he hasn’t stopped loving his grandmother, but can’t forgive what she did to El Tigre and his mother.

Alejandro comes to tell Antonia that he’s returned the mine to los Suárez. Lucho is loving the opportunity to dig at her from the neighboring cell.

Alejandro comes to tell Irene that he and Gabriela are expecting a child. And that Gabriela has set it up already for a transplant of the stem cells from the umbilical cord to be given to Lucía.

David has brought the bag to Antonia and tells her he can’t stop loving her. She tells him she adores him. She then tells him she wants to speak to Verónica Dantés. He’s to tell her that she’s finished. Tell Vero, and she will understand. Lucho shouts that it’s a trick.

David comes to tell his mother about Antonia’s wish to see her. Francisca objects violently to her going and says that Antonia is the arm of Satan.

Antonia wheedles Balmy into letting her take a shower and get cleaned up.

Of course Gabriela gets out of the bed she’s supposed to stay in to protect her long desired child in order to go to the jail, despite a roomful of tigres asking her not to go.

LA PATRONA – VIERNES – Part 3

When she gets there, Antonia calls her Gabriela Suárez right off the bat. Gaby admits it. Just then Gonzo comes to take Lucho to see his lawyer (Ricardo), but he doesn’t want to go and leave Gabriela with the bruja. But he does go. Antonia says she always knew, on some level, who she was. But she underestimated Gabriela. She asks Gabriela if she thinks being in this cell is enough punishment. [We see a big broken piece of the mirror Poncia brought held behind Antonia’s back.] Antonia says they are alike. Gabriela says she regrets that David and the baby she’s expecting carry Guerra’s blood. She tells her she won’t be able to kill this baby like she did the one before.

Lucho is having fits about Antonia and Gabriela being alone. Gabriela asks Antonia if any part of her can recognize the irreversible damage she did to her. Antonia says she did her a favor, just like the one they did when they sold her. Then she says that the bad thing about wanting vengeance is that it might come true. She says that Gabriela wanted to see her dead, didn’t she?

Then she holds out one cut wrist. [I call bullshit on this. If she wanted to off herself, she’d have done it at night.] She then cuts the other wrist while Gaby watches, asking if she can bear having this on her conscience. Suddenly Gabriela, who was outside, has managed to enter the cell and is binding up Guerra’s wrists and screaming for help. Ale comes running as well. [Does he give Gabriela a reproachful look? Not sure.]

In Balmy’s office Gabriela says that what happened seemed like a performance. Lucho says it was to make her feel guilty. Gabriela: “Or so I’d scream for help and she’d be saved.” Ricardo says he knows she’s a master manipulator, but can’t believe she’d hurt herself like that. Gabriela said that, when she knelt beside her, she saw the same evil as always in her eyes.

Lagarto shows up at the hospital dressed like a workman. [I want the costume rental business in SpdO! Although there might be a reduction in profits owing to Lucho Vampa not being on the loose.]

Constanza and Ricardo have come to plead Lucho’s case with the judge. Ricardo says he saved his mother’s life. Plus he already suffered for years under Gertrudis Aguirre. Ricardo also says that his crimes happened years ago, and the fact that he turned himself in should count for a lot. The judge says she’ll take it under advisement.

At the hospital the doctor tells Alejandro and David what we already knew – the cuts aren’t so big or so deep. He says they sewed her up, but she’s in a deep depression.

In her hospital room, Antonia throws herself a major pity party. She calls Ale and David her two loves. She calls David her prince and knows that he loves her despite what people have done to poison his mind against her. She says she doesn’t want to live, and begs Alejandro to bring her some pills so she could end it all. [If only he’d call her bluff!]

After they leave she says that Gabriela Suárez took her men, but she’s going to make her pay.

WoW! After watching the advances for los ultimos capitulos tonight, there is no telling how this is going to end. Just as I thought that the suspense was dying down, they put me back on the edge of my seat. Wonder how this new Chema character plays out?

La Patrona,

thanks so much novelera,
you're the best,

haha, Francisca and her spoilers, this is the second time for this dream, but the first one sure looked like the original mine explosion,

ahha, so rather than a lengthy court thing, the judge let the heirs transfer the ownership of the mine, we'll probably never see this judge in another novela, she is just making everything too easy for the good guys,

speaking of good guys, the entire cast are now good guys, except for Antonia, and she still might win,

why oh why did Gabriela have to get locked into the cell with Antonia, it's not like they were going to hug or anything,

didn't the doctor say that Antonia survived because of the tourniquets on her arm, the ones Gabriela put there,

and didn't Lagarto peek in on the whacko Gertrudis, who sees him and calls out to him, "cocodrilo".

Eugenia is in deep mierda. The actress is Rafael Amaya's true novia.

And Monica getting one more romp in the hay before one of them va al otro barrio.
Monica has a knife but my money is on Aurelio. Bet he is not even asleep.

So was the MC for the 20 Most Momentous Episodes Mauricio Ochmann? That's what flashed on the screen near the start, but I didn't recognize him. I guess it's been a while since I've seen him. One odd thing is that when I listened to him, at times he sounded very much like Gabriel Porras (Mejia), and he had Porras's dark hair. Since I started watching the show a few seconds after it started, I missed seeing the MC identified, and I kept trying to imagine how this younger, better looking guy could be Porras. Finally I decided that was impossible. Only after the show was over did I look at the start of my recording, where I saw Ochmann's name. I assume that he's also the mystery man we see near the end.

CIELOS

Variopinta, my money is on Aurelio, too. There's no way Mónica is going to do him in, especially since there are still a number of episodes left.

LA PATRONA:

Thanks for another wonderful recap, Novelera, with your helpful Spanish expressions as a bonus.

I also thought it odd that Gaby was locked in the cell with Antonia with no supervision. Either one could hurt the other, in theory. But Gaby's strong. It's not so easy to rip the sleeve off your dress to make a tourniquet (I have to admit I've never tried, not having ever worn a dress :)

This may be the first time we've seen a character point a gun at another and say give me dialysis or else!

No matter how much Gaby and David know they're not supposed to go into the mine, they'll probably have to, to save someone.

At least Balmy said that when Antonia is transferred to the hospital to recover from her wrist wounds, they should have lots of extra security. Does that mean Gonzalez? Good luck.

The new judge sure is convenient. The mine thing is resolved without one bit of evidence from the other side, let alone a trial. And Lucho's fate is also going to be decided by a judge without a trial. Not that justice in San Pedro ever was very logical.

LA PATRONA

Novelera - thanks for a delightful recap. I loved your "I call bullshit on this (slit wrists)" - agree! Sooo superficial. And the faint - more bs. Depressed? No way. Homicidal - si!

Deb- the doc said the wounds were not deep and the tourniquets stopped the bleeding.

I have to say that Antonia's orange blouse was gorgeous. I hope the blood comes out.

For a moment I thought maybe Chacon was going to visit old one-eye. The door he opened was clearly labelled "psiquiatria". Not sure what that little scene was about, except maybe to show that what's left of the old gang is at the hospital. A lobo reunion?

For a walking (almost) dead man, Chacon looks pretty darn good, and he's still agile enough to subdue that nurse.

Another mine explosion? Maybe Antonia will go out with a bang! If Fran's premonition is accurate, I can see David being drawn to the mine to find/save/help Antonia, and then Gabriela going after David to save him.

I was disappointed that Poncia went back to her old, drab look. Her make over was fantastic.

Is there a triple wedding in the works? Seems too Loonivision to me.

Cielos
I've never seen Mauricio Ochmann, his character is
José María 'Chema' Venegas.
I think he showed up Wed. I'll have to rewatch to figure out who he is, I do vaguely remember a new good looking guy. Since he has a nickname I assume he is not of good character.

CIELOS

Variopinta, I've seen Mauricio Ochmann a few times, esp. in "El Clon," where he was Lucas/Diego. He was also the galan in "Azul Tequila."

I could be wrong (again :-) ), but I think the guy who showed up on Wednesday was Randy. In the shots that were shown at the end of last night's "20 Momentous Episodes," there was one, I think, that we haven't yet gotten to in the TN that involved "Chema" and also Cabo and Tijeras, IIRC. I don't know whether Randy and Chema are know each other, work together, are enemies, or what, but I do think they're two different people.

Cielos
Randy is from LA, Turco's friend, who is going to help him get Ximena & kids to LA. He has light hair.
Someone has mentioned Chema, so they jump in here.

Thanks so much AnotherAmy! I was watching but with the sound off (I was babysitting my granddaughter, long story) and thought I could follow, but it seems I missed all the important stuff: Margarita's discovery of her cancer, Ruben's morning-after brush off of Squeaky, Mariano's call to Estela, Ignacia's delegating medical advocacy chores to someone else, and Tomas giving Ruben money to "plant" on Pedro.
Safety tip: do not watch this show while babysitting a 4-year-old!

LA PATRONA

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

I probably didn't emphasize it in the recap, but it was very odd to me the way Gabriela was able to be inside Guerra's cell to wrap her wrists.

I could have sworn that she was standing outside the cell during their whole scene. They sort of made us wonder if Guerra was going to stab Gaby through the bars. But then she gets inside to save her.

Is this another thing like in Cielos, whether or not Leo had put a gag on Mathilde in the bathroom, or what?

Anyway, I don't remember Gaby talking to her INSIDE the cell.

CIELOS

Well, I enjoyed Mauricio Ochmann being the host of last night's greatest moments show.

He speaks wonderfully clearly and I so appreciate understanding every word when an actor speaks.

He said, if I remember correctly, that Cielos had even gotten better ratings in its time period than some programming in English. During its run, they said that La Reina del Sur did that, and it was even nominated for an Emmy. This crossover is because of some people having CC3 in English for Telemundo programming.

I like this TN, but I still would vote for La Reina as the better of the two.

You couldn't really avoid watching previews the way they set the thing up.

At first I was going "Mauricio Ochmann as the moderator??? Why him?" But then they showed that he'll have a role in the remaining episodes. We don't know if he's going to be a good guy, undercover like Leo, or another narco for realz. He could be the one who eventually replaces Aurelio in the food chain. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

LA PATRONA:

Novelera: Gabi was inside the cell the whole time for that conversation. Remember as Gabi leans up against the bars that join Lucho's cell, he was leaning in behind her from his cell. The whole thing was dumb. But maybe the reason they have shown everyone and their mother getting into jail cells with prisoners to chat, is because they have been working up to this beanie-worthy scene. That way, we wouldn't scratch our heads too much at the absurdity. We're used to it.

I really hope David and Ale don't get sucked into Guerra's web again. I'm sorry. If I had a relative, even a mother, who was a serial killer like Guerra, I would not be rushing to their side. I would feel sad, of course. But I would have disowned that person, and kept going on with my life.

CIELOS:

From the looks of it, the last few weeks of Cielos is going to be exciting. I also wonder what role Chema will play in the downfall of many of these characters.

Variopinta- Chema is simple the nickname for Jose Maria. It doesn't have any other special meaning.

La Patrona,

hmm, the way I saw the jail scene novelera, and I went back and rewatched it, Veronica was brought back to Antonia by a jailer who unlocked the cell door, let Veronica in, relocked it and apparently left, (it was a quick disjointed scene, and then Veronica and Antonia are being filmed separately not really showing where they are),

and then Gonzo shows up, collects Lucho, and leaves them all alone,

and I'm freaking out like Lucho, and him now running around out of a cell without handcuffs isn't helping, they really ramped up the tension on this one, I'm so glad Antonia didn't start stabbing at the unborn baby,

ah Beth, I hadn't realized all of the remaining Lobos are now in the new hospital,

triple wedding, ??, isn't there 4 couples, and 4 babies in Francisca's earlier spoiler dream,

I don't suppose many people showed up for Macario's funeral.

LA PATRONA

Thanks Deb and Vivi for clarifying my confusion about Gaby in or out of the cell. I think that sometimes when I'm recapping I'm focusing on what to say in writing rather than what I actually see!

Deb, funny, so funny about Macario's funeral. You're right. There won't be a big crowd there!

DyO

thanks so much AnotherAmy for your summary and comments,
I actually enjoy reading what you have to say better than the show,

so Mariano is an artist,

and Squeaky is a virgin no more,
so what did this cost her mother for this non trip to Malibu,

and the guilty looking Moto Boy, with an extra 5 grand in his pocket, is noticing Pedro left his locker open.

LA PATRONA

Re: wedding couples. I didn't count David and Ceci. Call me old fashioned, but I think they're too young to get married. And didn't Gabriela tell David at one time to finish his schooling and get married in a few years?

Four babies - hmm…. I knew there were a "bunch" of babies, but only 2 spoken for right now. I thought the others were being held in reserve.

Beth

LA PATRONA:

What a silly episode and boring episode! And I LOVE this novela. The best parts were Lucho throwing barbs at Guerra and Lucho turning himself in and saying he'd be a second dad to Lucia, which to me screams anvil over Alejandro.

Why did Gaby go see Guerra after everyone begged her not to go? It seemed to me Ale realized in the hospital they were being manipulated because he didn't get close to Guerra's bedside at all, while David was right beside Guerra and crying. And Ale's body language, with his hands crossed and his feet semi apart said he was well aware that it was a stunt. Remember, Irene tried the same thing, so he
wasn't buying it. Even that look he gave GabyVero said, Why did you come here when your behind should be in the house asleep?

LA PATRONA:

LOL JNYC. I like that take on the look Ale was giving Vero. She did so many dumb things this episode-- not listening to every single friend she has about not going to see Guerra; putting her baby in danger by getting out of bed; going into a locked cell with Guerra; and telling Guerra she's pregnant. Good grief!

LA PATRONA:

I was just baffled at the amount of stupid things GabyVero did in that ep, especially about the pregnancy. I just know Guerra is gonna put her in the position where someone is gonna have to die to save her life so Tomasito can live to save Lucia.

I know Vero wanted to gloat, but wait until the trial. Geesh. I have to watch cap 124, where Ale finds out about Tomasito, to cleanse my palate from such a silly ep.

Cielos

Just watched the end of the 20 escenas
Chema (Mauricio Ochmann) is in that.
He is introducing himself to Chacorta.Gives his name, José María Venegas, and says his friends call him Chema. He is either a bad guy or an infiltrator.

LA PATRONA

J desde NYC and Vivi:

Dramatic Writing 101 required Gabriela to go to Antonia's cell. This was like the other side of the coin from when Antonia came to gloat over Gabriela in a private room arranged by Gertrudis. The difference being, of course, that good guys don't really love gloating, so Gabriela went somewhat reluctantly.

They HAD to meet face to face after Antonia finally realized who'd been putting all those spokes in her wheels. A trial wouldn't have had the same impact.

LA PATRONA:

Novelera, I get that Vero and Guerra had to have a faceoff but this was done in such a silly way as to stretch credulity. Every friend Gaby had told her not to go, that it was a setup-Francisca plainly called Guerra 'the arm of Satan' to emphasize what a dumb idea it was to go, and yet, Vero goes. PLUS, she's supposed to be on best rest PER EXPLICIT DR'S INSTRUCTIONS. ¿Que de que?

The writers could have done this another way, that doesn't make it seem that Vero is a complete idiot, uncaring about her life and that of her child Tomasito or Lucia's life, who is dependent on Vero surviving for her to live. The writers basically made Vero precipitate the ending action, which is going to lead to a lot of deaths and chaos.

LA PATRONA:

There's also the cowardice question. Time after time, telenovela good guys go into dangerous situations, ignoring the warnings from all their friends, and of course, doctors, not wanting their enemies to think they are cowards. They just can't even consider backing down from a confrontation with the enemy. And yes, this often has disastrous results. But it sure is less boring than if they stay home and rest!
