Qué Bonito Amor #123 (Mex 161) Thursday 10/3/13 Que Desordenado Camino al Fin

Santos heads back to the prison to collect his stuff, now that he's been freed.  Justo gloats just a tiny bit to Mr. "I'm Unbeatable" Summers.

Santos moons over Maria's pictures while she stands by the Emergency Traje and strokes her flat belly.

Summers' talk with Giuliano via cell phone, wherein he threatens OG that he has enough evidence to bring him down, is overheard by the judge.  The judge orders Summers to hand over the evidence and the cell phone.

The mariachis start to promote the event, putting up posters.

Santos is summoned to…um…er…fill out paperwork…yeah…by OG's pet guard.

Ruben rips a poster off the wall, saying he and Maria are going to have a lot of fun tonight.

The guard points a gun at Santos in some dark hall of the prison dungeons.

Elvira is grumpy about the event at the bar, but OG tells her she's going to walk in there like a goddess, dripping with jewels…but first, there's something she's gotta do….

OG's guard gets busted by the warden and a couple of other guards.

Maria, Colosso, and Milamores hand out flyers for the event.

Elvira sneaks into the bar to replace Maria's water with something she thought bubbles will keep Maria from ever singing again.

Santos studies the drawings of Maria again and says nothing will ever separate them again.  A guard ushers Justo's buddy the AG into Santos' cell.  The AG wanted to talk to Santos alone about how his and his family's lives are in danger.  The AG keeps asking if he's willing to put his family at risk.  He finally tells Santos that the only way to stop his enemies is to let them kill him.

Michael gets an emergency phone call and tells someone he'll be right there.

Maria walks out of her dressing room, ready for the event.

Guards come to fetch Santos from his cell.

Michael drives up to the prison to fetch Santos.

Rats wander around on the ground.  Big rats.

Yet another big sniper rat waits for Santos to emerge.

Maria swigs the mystery bottle of water and applies her lipstick.

Mirna and Ruben exchange looks.  Mirna notices the gun on Ruben's belt.

Maria screws up her lipstick and looks confused.

Santos is filling out paperwork while Michael waits.

Santos takes a last look at the tiny room where he's been filling out paperwork and then walks out.

Elvira and OG arrive.  Dude promised she'd be dripping with diamonds and he did not deliver.

Maria looks confused and wipes her mouth.

Michael flashes his headlights at Santos.  He gets out of his car and they hug while Santos says the nightmare is over.

Maria keeps swigging.

The sniper waits until he gets a clear shot of Santos' back.  As Santos bleeds, Maria drops the water bottle, alarmed.

Santos tells Michael "They did it."  Michael frantically calls for help.

Milamores walks out of the dressing room, giving Maria a troubled look.  He tells her he's just gotten terrible news--Don Just called and said Santos was killed as he was leaving the prison.  Que gacho!  Maria starts crying.

Wendy and Michael cry over the news of Santos death.  Which better be fake.

Colosso starts off the Superfun Mariachi Show by introducing Maria.  Maria launches into Si Nos Dejan, but she can't get the words out.  Elvira gloats as Maria whispers that she can't sing.  Colosso and Milamores whisper to her and the mariachis start again, but Maria just can't get any sound out.  Elvira openly laughs.  Milamores explains to Colosso that she just found out that Santos is dead.  Ruben caresses his gun and thought bubbles that if he can't have Maria, no one can.  Ruben raises the gun and aims it at Maria as Mirna and Elvira look on.  OG thinks Ruben has finally gone 'round the bend.

The assistant Mexicop shoves Ruben's gun up as Ruben fires.  The bar patrons go nuts trying to get the hell out of there.  Mass confusion as the LA cops enter.  Maria walks out some side or back door.  Milamores doesn't want her to leave alone.  Maria cries that she's always put on her costume and sung on that stage, hoping she could sing her father back to life, but when Santos got there, she stopped singing to death and started singing to life.

OG barricades himself in a bathroom.

Maria cries to Milamores that now Santos is gone too and she was singing to bring him back to the bar, but now that's not going to happen.  He was her voice and now she's dead.

LA Cops find the bathroom where OG is hiding and start beating the door down.  OG locks himself in a bathroom stall.

Maria declares that the traje is now her mourning dress.

OG crawls out the bathroom window and the LA cops only find an empty cell.

Maria tells Milamores that she needs to be alone right now.

Assistant Mexicop closes down the bar for safety reasons.

Maria cries alone, asking what she'll do now that he's gone.  She cries that she can't keep her promise because with his death, she's dead too.

Mirna and the mariachis argue with the Mexicop.  He says the bar is now the subject of a police investigation.
OG confronts Maria in this weird outdoor courtyard space she's been in.  Maria punches OG and yells that he killed Jorge Alfredo.  This brings a pair of cops running and OG takes off.

Colosso and Milamores announce the last song in the bar…"Ojala Que Te Vaya Bonito".  This accompanies a video montage of the greatest hits at Ay Jalisco.

OG and Elvira start packing up to escape, but they're interrupted by Ruben.  Ruben mocks them and accuses Elvira of turning him in. OG tells them both to chill if they want to get revenge.  Ruben gets a call from "a friend" and says he now has a way to get back at that traitor, Mirna.

Maria is having a mariachi emergency, so she busts out the emergency traje as they play "Historia de un Amor."  She cries that only the hand of God could separate them, and now it has.

Sad mariachis leave Ay Jalisco.

Amalia finds Maria sitting up and crying over the traje.  Maria tells Amalia that Jorge Alfredo is dead.  Paloma and Isa wake up in time to hear this.  Amalia tells all the girls that history is repeating itself.

Maria's getting her mourn on and refuses to eat, even for the baby's sake.  As Maria says that Don Justo must be having a REALLY crappy day, there's a knock at the door.  Milamores and Colosso tell them that the bar has been shut down.

Mirna gripes about needing to send money to her daughter.  She takes a call from Ruben and says "Don't hurt her" and "I'm on my way."

Maria is applying for jobs, but she has no contact info to give out except an email address.

Susanito sells paletas from a cart.

Buffalo works in a grocery store.

Sietemares is working as a shoe shine guy.

Colosso sold off the Mariachera to pay Rodrigo's school fees.

Milamores is a taco guy.  And he's going to Guadalajara tonight.

Maria says she'll just keep looking for a job.

Maria goes to sell the traje, but the potential buyer tells her she'd probably get more if she sold the silver buttons and trim.  Maria refuses.  She wants the traje to end up with another mariachi.  Some other guy in the shop just keeps looking at all this with a sad expression, shaking his head.

Ruben takes video of himself and a teenager on a couch.  I'm trying to keep it together here, but seriously?  All the mariachis have been off working for how long now and Mirna's just showing up after that phone call?

OG looks like he's setting up some sort of trap as Elvira gleefully walks in and says she thinks she has a plan to get all the mariachis there without them suspecting anything.

Mirna begs Ruben…for what she doesn't say.  Ruben tells her all she has to do is sign over the bar to him or he'll tell her daughter the truth.  And also help them get revenge on….  Mirna doesn't want to, but Ruben hints heavily that if she doesn't he's going to kill her kid.

The random guy in the traje shop watches a kid in a traje walk up and hand Maria an envelope.  Similar envelopes are delivered to the other mariachis, either by the same kid or some other kid in a traje.  Maybe they're clones.  In the background, as Fer is reading his note/letter is the random guy from the traje shop who turns around to keep Fer from seeing his face.

Colosso goes to where he was when he sold off the original mariachiera, only to find a new, white Mariachera v 2.0 now with additional bling down the sides.  Random guy watches Colosso.

Susanito's letter says he's admitted to the National School of Music.

Three mariachis come up to get tacos from Fer, but they stop playing and hand him all their guitars.  As the random guy looks on.

Susanito gives out free ice cream and paletas.

All the guys are in a warehouse waiting for whatever their Secret Santa has waiting for them.  OG, watching from some adjacent room, is planning to do them all in.  Shut up OG.  Kill 'em or don't but shut up about it already!  The mariachis are strongly considering leaving, but they hear a gunshot as OG, thinking that he's seeing the ghosts of Santos and Bruno, fires.  This scares the guys off.  Santos, who isn't a ghost, fights with OG over the gun.  OG's arm bumps the incendiary device he was planning to use on the mariachis and as the fuse starts to burn down, OG runs right toward the flames and he sets himself on fire.  That's right, you heard it here, folks.  OG is…

Well, we'll have to find out tomorrow.  Could be dead, could just be…crispy….

Dead tired. Show opens tomorrow. I was having trouble typing actual words towards the end there. I'll check in in the morning.

I didn't see any typos, so you're good.

Giuliano got the fires of hell; good. Evil should always get what it deserves. His pet guard, however, should have been taken out of action at least two episodes ago.

Carl Summers proved he was far less intelligent than Justo by making that phone call in the courtroom.

The police prove their incompetence once again because both Giuliano and Ruben got away again.

Will Nando Sr. stay in the jail?

What did Bufalo & 7Seas get as their wishes?

Where is Ana?

I'm assuming days/weeks have gone by so why is Mirna just now showing up to rescue her daughter?

I wonder if her daughter is also Concho's daughter? Somehow I doubt it.
I still wonder if somehow Mirna/daughter isn't connected to 7Seas somehow.

Love that Pochito bought Coloso a brand new mariachi mobile!

I wonder if Justo/Santos went through some legal steps to change Santos' name to Jorge Alfredo Vargas while everybody thinks Santos is dead?

I guess Carl Summers & Evil Jail Guard can share a cell now.

Elvira needs to pay and pay hard. Usually the evil beautiful women in novelas are disfigured & jailed or disfigured & killed so we'll see which way Elvira ends up.

I wonder if we'll ever see Lourdes again?

UA: It doesn't help that I'm using a wireless keyboard that sometimes has trouble keeping up with my typing speed! My eyelids were drooping and I kept looking at the screen and seeing non-words. Agreed about the cops. They're apprehending a guy who's gotten away from them before and they didn't have the place surrounded. IDIOTS!

207: It's a little worrying. If they actually answer all those questions, it's going to be a whiplash-inducing episode tonight!

They're going to have to explain why Jorge Alfredo is alive and well (which I think Jorge Alfredo was going to do when he showed up at the warehouse [Santos is dead])

I'm thinking Justo & Santos got his name legally changed to Jorge Alfredo Vargas so he can now have the proper papers to marry Maria.

I noticed that Jorge Alfredo had on "Santos gear" when he showed up at the warehouse last night. I think we're going to witness a blend of JA/Santos where he's going to go back to the Santos way of being an administrator & businessman like Santos but down with the folks in the hood like Jorge Alfredo.

I wonder if Michael & Wendy have married/moved down to Mexico yet? I'm pretty sure Justo will follow...there's nothing left for Justo in the United States.

Just don't get Justo together with Amalia! Let them just be good friends!

Ugh, you got it right, the episode felt so disorganized and all over the place, it did not feel like we were watching a novela coming to an end. I sure hope that Santos and his dad won the lawsuit against LAPD, especially after Santos was almost killed in jail!

Yay--The Televisa Rats are still employed! I guess they have not been affected by the Govt. shutdown. More later.

Oy, I wasn't planning on watching the episode but I simply have to see the spanking new Mariachera!!!

Santos/Jorge Alfredo should change his stage name to MilVidas.

No, they don't have to explain how he escaped death yet again. He's just there.

Looking forward to Mentir Para Vivir.

Right, did I miss something? I know I rushed through Tuesday's and Wednesday's episodes, but one minute he's dying from the new superdangerous new-and-improved flu and the next they're talking about antidotes and someone trying to kill him. WHAT?! When/how did they come to that conclusion! I'll go back and read those recaps when I get a minute, just to make sure, but I'm expecting someone to inform me that it wasn't just me, they really did make this bizarre leap.

Actually I didn't think the episode was too disjointed and time wise it could have been about a week but I don't think much more. We all certainly over thought who Mirna's kid was and I'm sure now that Isa's parentage was nothing but a plot device and we won't ever know.

While intellectually I understand why Santos had to do what he did I think it was very cruel to let all the people who love him think he was dead. Obviously if they had been in on it they might not have been convincing in their grief but he caused all of them a lot of pain and Maria could have lost yet another baby from the shock.

OJ is toast — fitting and that look of shock on his face when he saw what he thought was two ghosts was worth the price of admission.

I agree that during the missing time Santos got his money back, Justo may have won his law suit which would have been against LA County not the State, and the legal name change was made.

I thought the guy watching Maria with the traje was really creepy but obviously he was Santos' angel messenger. I did wonder how on earth he knew which mariachi's to give their wishes and how he knew where they were - oh forget it it's Noveleland.

Just as I feared we have a boatload of stuff to clear up tonight - punishment for Evile and Ruben, a comeuppance for Vainessa, please God not much time with the teen tiffs and finally a wedding.

I too agree that the new improved JA/Santos will be blend of both. No matter how much Santos loved being a mariachi he was at heart a high powered businessman. He can use both skills to give Maria a fine life and he can still enjoy his gente and his country.

Diva--It was unbelievably quantum sized Olympic leaps and bounds (well leaps in any case).

Diva--Your best line about Orange Giuliani: "Could be dead, could just be…crispy…."

Milamores should have waited until after he show to tell Maria about JA, but it wouldn't have made much difference, she still wouldn't have been able to sing. However, her angry "outside" voice she used against OJ was intact. Maybe this stuff wears off....another slice of telenovela fantasy chemicals.

Anita

Had't noticed the suddenly got her voice back but and it's a big but perhaps her rage combined with her pain overrode whatever thing Evile gave her or or it might have been something that was short lived. It was lucky for her even though two MORE cops seemed to also be breathing the ineptitude air that the Keystone Kops Quatro exist on.

The guy wasn't Jorge Alfredo's messenger.....it was Jorge Alfredo in disguise.

Anon207--Holy Baloney--his disguise was pretty good. I'll have to go back and look more closely.

But, how did he know Maria would be trying to sell the Emergency Traje at just that precise moment. Gaaaah, I've thrown my beanie away--it was in shreds anyway from trying to tighten it so often.

We can expect him to show up in it tonight (no spoiler....haha). He'd better be careful or Maria could lose the baby from the shock (not gonna happen, no spoiler....haha).

Thank you for the recap! I really enjoyed this episode. Definitely looking forward to tonight's finale.

UA, I totally said the same thing about Summers that he waa dumb for calling Giu while still in the courtroom. He and the Spanglish prison guard got what was coming to them.

As to how Santos survived the assassination attempt, I'm thinking the AG helped him out by either giving him or having someone give him a bullet proof vest since he did tell Santos that his life was in even more danger now that he was free therefore his enemies would act quickly.

Although it did seem like time passed rather quickly after the assassination attempt regarding what all the characters were up to. I wonder what happened to Jalisquito during that passage of time. And if Santos was still injured in some way by the bullet then he obviously had time to recover.

I wonder if Giu will survive and end up like Barbie Greco- severely disfigured. We shall see how it all ends tonight!

Anon

I too had the thought the messenger was Santos in disguise and it was one heck of disguise since the guy was fair skinned and Santos is not. But as I say it's Novelelaland so miracles happen.

Santos may very well have been wearing a bullet proof vest which might have left him bruised and I didn't notice any blood. However as "clever"as that might have been it wouldn't have saved him from a head shot. Now who did the shooting? Crooked guard and lawyer were out of commission, so OJ wouldn't have had time to set it up. For someone who was basically nothing more than a very successful businessman Santos certainly seemed to have acquired a vast list of enemies.

Good point about Vicente? Where is he,has Ana found him yet or is he slowing hoofing it back to the DF. Guess we will know soon enough.

My feeling is that the AG arranged to help Santos fake his death. He was probably wearing kevlar protection and the shooter was told to hit him in the back. Notice that the shooter wasn't caught or even chased; chances are the AG got a cop to do this against the goal of flushing out the Godfather Wannabe. Santos was prepared for this.

I also think Mike would have to be let in on the plan.

The thing that makes the least amount of sense in this episode is Ruben's attempt on Maria's life. He doesn't want Mirna or Elvira and this attempt had too many witnesses. This is out of character for him.

Now that everyone (?) thinks that Santos is dead, is possessing Maria no longer an attractive option to Ruben? He was pursuing her long before Santos arrived on the scene, so this makes no sense at all. He has enough evil deeds already to merit a heavy Karmageddon.

URBAN

I too thought the ruben drawing a gun to shoot Maria made no sense. He knows he has about as much a chance with her as a snowball in hell and he did think if I can't have her (and we know he can't) then no one can have her thus his decision to kill her. He doesn't care if Evile and Mirna see him because if either of them threatened to go to the cops and Evile never would, he'd just off them too. Mirna is the weak link in that threesome.

I agree the killing was staged by the AG and Santos and maybe Mike was in on it but i resally had to feel sorry for Wendy who has gone through at least three other times being told her brother was dead.

In view of how Wendy got him into this trouble in the first place with her courtroom histrionics in the beginning, I don't feel sorry for her at all. She needs to learn to appreciate her brother and mind her own behavior.

As for Ruben, I was of the mind that he would have gotten more of his sadistic pleasure if he had raped Maria instead. Unless he's also a necrophiliac, but no Televisa novela has gone there yet.

Kat: No typos and it was as quick and fun a read as always! OG as a krispy kringle got a huge guffaw from this end of Viewerville today. Thanks for that bit of imagery! Also, thank you for giving this your all week after week despite your crazy rehearsal and performance schedule. Thanks again and, as with Paquitadelbario, I am grateful to have the two of you along for the next rollercoaster ride, not to mention Urban A and Eli as worthy subs! Tks!

=========
If I remember, the AG did come in and say the only way to capture the baddies was for Santos to die. They wanted him and not his family, tho' the AG emphasized. I can't remember if he said "nobody could know the truth" but it was then and there that I figured he'd have him wearing a vest. Then he asked Santos if he was ready to do that and Santos nodded I thought. The disguise was something unusually ingenious I thought. The idea that he might come back with a name change is an interesting idea. Could be cuz it does make sense at that point.

Unresolved is Isa's true parentage.

Did Santos get back all his millions worth of frozen funds returned and did that include the questionable $10 million found in the trunk perchance?

What was the substance in Maria's water, anyway? Novacaine? That's only temporary and I thought it was supposed to be a permanent loss of her ability to sing.

Maria is damaged goods to Ruben. Jorge Alfredo got her first and even knocked her up. So she's not pure anymore. And then he wanted to one up Jorge Alfredo by taking Maria away.

But now that Jorge Alfredo is "dead" Ruben doesn't want Maria. But he also doesn't want anyone else to have her either.

JARDINERA

We are never going to find out Isa's parentage. It's too little and too late at this point.

As to the money laudering I've been talking about this with some legal folks and it boils down to this.

The 10 million was money from the GF that OJ and his cousins would then take and "wash" by putting it into the fake bank account for Garza cars. The GF could then be able to access clean money that appeared to be profits from car sales.

Santo would need to apply to the court to have his assets returned and his bank account unfrozen. He would need to prove that none of his assets were bought as as result of the illegal activity, same for his bank account. Santos would have no trouble doing that because all the dirty money went into the account he didn't know about and had no access to.

What i want to know is will Justo get back the blackmail money he paid OJ.

DecieGirl: Ahah! Ok. Tks. And I would like to know if Justo actually placed the lawsuit against EL Lay and for what exactly?

Justo could have sued LA County for arresting an innocent man and putting him prison without a trial and for endangering his life multiple times. Don't know if it would fly but also at the time the whole thing went down Justo was a diplomat and his family would also have had immunity

I am SO very late to this party, but I sure want to thank you 5FT for all the work you have done on this series. You make me laugh each week and heaven knows I need a good laugh!

I went to the Novelas y Series website and it says that Mr. Salinas is going to be on a show called "Sal y Pimienta" this weekend to talk about QBA. I sure wish I could see it. If anyone does see it, could you report back to us?

Also on that same website, this Mejia guy is doing some commentary about QBA. I'd sure like to give that guy some of my own 2 cents.

In the end, I hope nothing happens to Don Nando. I do NOT want Amalia and Justo to end up together. They can be friends, but that is about it.

I would love to see Coloso with a freshly shaven look just once, but I seriously doubt it will happen.

Also on that Novelas website was a picture of Mr. Salinas with a 5 o'clock shadow.

Guys...it is NOT becoming. You look like bums. You mess up your handsome faces, so knock it off and shave!

I'm kinda, pretty much sad that this is ending because I have really enjoyed our little group.

Mil gracias to everyone!

Fatima

Fatima, I think Sal y Pimienta is on Sunday nights on Univision.

Thanks, Eli. Unfortunately, I don't get Univision and have to watch the TNs online. Maybe I can find that show on Sunday online. Thank you!

Fatima

HI EVERYONE!!!! UA, Jardinera, Anita, Decie, anon207 et al...
been a while since I stopped by the caray blogs... been busy looking for a job but finally found something, i start on the 14th!!
You all don't have any idea how much I have missed you all!!
You all are such a big part of my support system...

i want to recap again, maybe just after the end of the year... nothing right now seems to catch my interest...

Now, about QBAQ... OMG!!! Desordenado doesn't even begin to describe it! but i will refrain until everyone has watched the ending. I just did and I am still wondering what happened? Did they fire or let go the writers a week before the ending was written and then let the janitors write the ending????

I will post again tomorrow once the ending recap is posted.

One thing you have to love in the final was when Justo gave Amelia the deed to the house in Guadalajara that Maria and Jorge Alfredo had bought for her. That was a clever way of JA getting her out of their lives and hair. Made me laugh especially in view of his feeling about a courtship. LOL
