TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: MARIDO EN ALQUILER, week of November 11, 2013

Jean and I decided to try something a little different this week.  Since there is already a lot of interest in the continuing novelas, Marido en Alquiler and Santa Diabla, and the rebroadcast of La Reina del Sur is likely to stir up a flurry of its own, we have decided to post THREE SEPARATE PAGES:

This week, all your mini-recaps and comments on Marido can be posted here on this page.

For discussions about Santa, however, please go here.

For discussions about La Reina del Sur, Elisa, etc, go to The Front Page here.

MARIDO

Recapping the first episode of La Reina del Sur does not mean I won't also do my regular Monday recap of Marido in Alquiler.

I'll be posting that this evening here in the Marido discussion area.

MARIDO EN ALQUILER – LUNES – Part 1 of 2

Teresa Cristina is absolutely revolting in this episode! We start off with her at the window looking at Amalia entering her car. She makes disgusting snake sounds, urging Amalia to drive off. She tells Ro she has a desire that will soon be satisfied.

Amalia calls Rafael and tells him she’s on the way to her store. We see the snake for an instant close to her face and then she bails out of the car. We can’t be sure if she was bitten or not. She’s turned over by rotten Fernando, who asks some bystanders to call 911.

Gabriel’s restaurant is almost too successful. He and his employees are run ragged. Clara asks him if he’s happy for another reason. Of course Esther calls just then. He refers to Victoria as his daughter; and Esther says that their daughter misses her father.

Beatriz comes into Alba’s clinic and grills Gloria, Alba’s assistant, wanting information about the donors. When Gloria goes to change, Bea tries to look at her own file.

Amalia’s scream and her not answering her cell horrify Rafa. He calls it again, and a stranger says she thinks the owner of the phone is dead. We see Gris falling apart when she hears the news.

TC talks with Fernando, who tells her there’s no sign of the snake’s whereabouts. TC expresses hope the snake is all right! Then she says Amalia must be on her way to hell.

The whole Salinas-Carrasco family is alerted. Quique arrives and Gris sobs on his shoulder. Pati offers to give Antonio a ride.

Simón is organizing a thorough cleaning of the food storage area of Rey Gourmet. The female pastry chef (Cecilia?) remarks that, if this was sabotage, what’s to prevent them from doing it again. Fred stands there hands at his side. Simón, Rei, and Cecilia discuss Fred’s odd behavior. They all distrust him. Rei says he’ll have a frank talk with him.

Gris and the whole clan have found the correct hospital and rush to the gurney on which Amalia has been placed. Pati asks her what happened. She says “snake” twice before passing out.

Reinaldo grills Fred, who denies everything. Rei tells him he’s the only one behaving strangely. Fred says the reason he didn’t pitch in was his terrible headache. Rei tells Simón and Cecilia that it wasn’t what he said, but the way he said it, without making eye contact. Simón asks why he would have done such a thing, causing him to lose his job. Rei: “And if it wasn’t his idea?” He remembers his conversation with Gris in which she told him she’s sure TC was behind the fire.

Gris calls Celeste, who says she’s on her way. Celeste calls Paloma. After they hang up, Paloma starts adding things up: Marcela’s death, the fire, and now Amalia. She asks herself if she could be the one who discovers that TC is a murderer.

MARIDO EN ALQUILER – LUNES – Part 2 of 2

TC returns from where she went with Manuel. Ro’s nose is out of joint because she went shopping without his approval of what she bought. TC coos that the clothes would be far too big for her. She bought them for her “Neptuno”. Her phone rings. It’s Fred, who’s told never to call her again. Fred says to himself that, if she won’t speak on the phone, she’ll have to speak to him in person.

The anxious family finally gets news from a doctor. Amalia was only in shock and suffered no actual damage. She’s fine. And so is the baby. Whoa! Shocked faces all around. When they enter her room, Amalia says she didn’t know either. Rafa sobs with joy. Gris wonders how such a thing could have happened. Antonio sarcastically asks her if she’s going to say she doesn’t know how it works. Rafa says that of course they’re having the baby. We see a shadow pass over Pati’s face. Rafa has certainly made Antonio look bad in the expectant father category. Rafa goes on to say they’ll get married.

José wants Elio to help him clean some fish he’s going to take to TC. Elio thinks he must be in love. José says he’s the same as he always was, but is planting in order to later harvest.

TC is very frank explaining to Ro her sexual attraction to José. She tells him she’s going to make him presentable, thus the clothes. She wants to spruce him up so everyone will envy her. And, with regard to that envy, she’s bought his pants a size too small! Ro gets it right away: “So everyone can notice his …” TC tells him not to be vulgar. She also says she’s only going to need José for a couple of months.

Rafa formally proposes to Amalia, expressing concern that he might still end up in jail. Amalia is determined to marry him in any case.

Beatriz grills Gloria some more. Gloria says that Alba could be in trouble for not maintaining confidentiality about the donors. Beatriz asks if maybe maybe someday she could be inseminated with her husband’s sperm. Gloria advises her to look through her deceased husband’s things to see if he might have left a note about the use of his stored sperm. [I can’t remember how he died. Wouldn’t he have been ill if storing sperm as a young man?]

Alba has called Esther, saying she wants to come see her. Uh oh! Gloria starts adding things up, logs onto a computer. Alba returns and tells her to keep the secret or she, Alba, is lost. We then see Esther and Gabriel cooing over the wonderful baby. I’m getting a bad feeling about this.

After I’ve just about given up hope, Antonio finally asks Amalia about the snake she mentioned before. Amalia then tells Rafael and Griselda that the snake was in her car. She swears that was what happened.

Great, our own thread!
Thanks, Jean and NovelaMaven!
And thank you for the recap, Novelera, thanks God we're back to one hour a day!

Thanks so much Novelera! I am also happy we are back to one hour shows.

I hope they believe Amalia. They were looking at her like she was crazy.

I guess now that he and Amalia are getting married, Rafa will be moving into the house too. His joyful reaction really did show Tony up. I wonder if Tony understood what Pati was feeling in that moment?

MARIDO

Thanks to the creators of this thread, and big thanks to Novelera for the recap! (I'm basing my comments on the recap since I won't have time to watch this episode for a while. But I've got time to comment!)

I hope they take the snake thing seriously. I mean, in real life, what would you do? Your pregnant adult daughter or girlfriend has a dangerous one-car accident, or rather she throws herself out of her moving car. She tells you she did it because there was a snake in the car. Either you believe her and you look into the snake story, or you do your best to get her into psychiatric observation. You don't just shrug your shoulders and forget about it.

It seems as if the plots are moving along nicely. It will be interesting to see how the Victoria plot-line works out, since it has only good people in it. (JP is a partial exception--he's only partially in it, and he's not currently good. His inherent hotness can only redeem him so much.)

I'm looking forward to seeing TC's attempt at changing Jose's look. I was very happy that they didn't give him a make-over immediately after his return. I expected it right away--I suspected the actor would only be able to stand wearing all that hair for a limited period of time. (Now I'm convinced that Miguel Varoni will do anything for his craft.) But I'm sure that whatever it is that TC tries to do with will be worth watching.

It's funny how TC has grown on me. Anyone else feel the same way? Her mannerisms were so annoying in the first episodes, but now I'm used to them, and I'm finding her bizarre thought-processes fascinating. Insanely murderous as she is, she's not just one note. I really liked her loneliness at her solitary dinner the other day. The writers (Brazilian and Mexican) and the actress have created a wonderful comic villain.

Thanks for the recap, Novelera, excellent job as usual. I haven't seen the episode yet, but it does look like a good one!

One problem with this show (for the good guys) is that there's no cop character, so no one's trying to solve any case. And there's no priest character, either. The cop and the priest on Santa Diabla are coming in very handy.

At least we have lots and lots of "good guys", so maybe they'll all find a way to stop TC.

Tuesday Recap
part 1
At long last, one hour episodes again! Sometimes less really is more.
And that is correct especially with today’s episode, which was mad – for those who haven’t seen it yet, I strongly advise you to do it before reading this recap.

At the hospital, Gris briefly checks on Amalia and then remembers the talk she and TC had after the fire and what Amalia said about the snake. In the meantime, TC is at home, extremely content with herself.
Gris explains the rest of the gang what Amalia said about the snake, they’re all very surprised. Someone suggests that maybe it was a garden snake, but Pati grew up there, she never saw any; besides, how would a snake get inside a locked car? Paloma has some suspicions, and so does Gris, but she refrains from saying anything in front of Pati; instead, she says that she won’t make any accusations until she’s sure.

Alba and Gloria talk about the hazard of Beatriz and her boyfriend being the donors Esther chose. Gloria can’t say anything, Beatriz can never know that she got her wish, to have a baby with the man she loved. And Alba’s lips are sealed, too, no matter how hard it might be for her, especially since baby Victoria is her niece.

At the taco bar, Bea is very sad, almost crying, thinking that she’ll never have what she wishes the most – a baby with her dead boyfriend….
Vanesa and Helen show up, Vanesa thinks one should always fight for what they want.

Esther and Gabe are together at her place, blissfully happy with each other and the baby. After Gabe leaves, JP comes by to talk about the business situation between him and Esther.
I take this moment to comment on JP’s hotness today… moving on now, he’s still a jerk.
Esther says she’ll never go along with his bad mood and bad temper like she did before, when they were married and she was in love (this sounds like a bit of a rewrite, since they always seemed perfectly happy before the baby issue – or maybe, like any divorced couple, they start to see things differently now that they’re not together anymore)
JP says that she was his greatest love, too, but now they both have different relationships. Esther adds that she’s very happy with Gabe and her baby, a baby that JP insists on ignoring. Well, JP came to talk business, he couldn’t care less about her personal life. And then he leaves….
I think these two are getting back together… they give me the same vibe Tony and Pati do.

Tuesday Recap
part 2

Gabe arrives at the taco bar and Vanesa tells Helen that she thinks he’s a great guy and now he seems very happy with JP’s ex. Vanesa, however, is anything but happy, she thinks that maybe if she had been available for Rei when he first separated from TC, she might have had her chance with him. Helen thinks she should stop with this mad thinking, but Vane is wondering if maybe she could still try her charms on Rei.

Iris is very scared, she’s having a full blown panic attack because she realizes TC has lost all control. She’s sure her niece is behind what happened with Amalia and is afraid for her own life.
After she recovers from a faint, she explains to Mario that they have no more money, they spent it all. Then she starts analyzing her life, a comedy of errors that brought her nothing meaningful – she lost her husband, she hasn’t managed to form a bond with her daughter. She thinks she’s repulsive, arrogant, a joke – nobody will feel sad when she dies. Mario tries to comfort her the best he can.
I think if she has a heart to heart with Paloma, Iris can still mend the relationship she has with her daughter. But for now, she wants to settle some scores with TC.

At the hospital, Gris is thinking about what Amalia told her – she believes her daughter and she realizes she is the main target. She and Paloma both agree TC might be the culprit, but Gris doesn’t want to say anything without proof.

At the restaurant, everybody is happy because they cleaned up the place very well and they hope they can reopen soon – why is Rei here when Amalia is in the hospital??? The place is not even opened yet!
They realize Fred is not in the kitchen and talk about how strange he’s acting, again.

And where is Fred? Impersonating a wine courier, he manages to enter TC’s house – they allow him access at the gate, but then nobody comes to open the door for him, so he just walks in.
TC is in her room, reminiscing about the crimes she committed – her mother, the Mafioso, Marcela. She leaves her room and meets Fred on the stairs – he has a gun and points it at her. Ro show up and is very surprised, asks: “What are you doing here?” Fred gets distracted by Ro’s appearance and TC manages to get close enough to start a struggle. The gun unloads and Fred rolls down the stairs, shot in the stomach, apparently dead.
And if that’s not enough of a shock, when he hits the floor, we see the tattoo he has on the ankle – a SCORION!
The married guy with twins is gay! Gay for Ro!

Tuesday Recap
part 3

Sol is showing Daniel her latest dance routine, when Celeste comes home. Daniel quickly leaves and Celeste tells Sol that Amalia is pregnant; luckily, Rafa stepped up and they’re getting married, but Celeste hopes Sol will be very careful not to turn up pregnant, too. But this is the last thing in Sol’s head right now and, knowing Daniel, she’d have to rape him to get anything out of him, anyway.

Rei returned to his hotel, to pack his stuff; he’s on the phone with Gris, promising to hurry and I still don’t get why he absolutely had to go back to pack, since Gris is obviously going through an emergency.
Oh, yeah, now I get it: Vanesa shows up to talk to him about possibly going back to work for him (which I think is a very poor excuse, will she go all fatal attraction on him?). He’s in a big hurry and in no mood to talk, but she convinces him to let her come up with him and talk while he packs. Oh, uh, Rei, don’t!

Ro is crying, screaming, calling TC a desgraciada. Elsa and Manuel show up, too, Manuel is asked to call the police after TC explains what happened – she says Fred was the one harassing her with the idea of re-opening Palmer Gourmet with him as a chef and the shooting was an accident, self defense.
At first she doesn’t understand why Ro is so upset, but then she realizes Fred was his lover. Apparently the two have been an item for a very long time, but, as Ro explains mid sob, they always had to hide their love… while Fred was building a family, I might add.
In his grief, Ro finally starts to say what he really thinks about his boss, even calling her by her name, instead of diosa, reina etc… He says she only causes him pain, sadness, and suffering. Fred wouldn’t have killed her, he didn’t even know how to use a gun, so she must have done something to bring him to the edge.
TC can’t believe Ro is speaking like this to her; after all, Fred wanted to kill her. Yes, about that… Ro is not so sure anymore. What if the gun didn’t accidentally unload in Fred’s hand, and TC was the one who fired?

Paloma finds out that Iris has had a crisis and went to talk with TC.

TC calls Rei to tell him what happened, explaining that she can prove he was harassing her – she has a lot of missed calls from Fred, who was insisting that she re-open Palmer Gourmet with him as a Chef.
Rei decides to go see what really happened and Vanesa offers to stay behind and pack his clothes. So, he leaves her his key and storms off.
Alone in his hotel room, Vanesa is briefly pissed that her plans for the night (?!?) were interrupted, but she lies on the bed, mischief written all over her face.

Realizing Ro’s testimony will be vital in establishing her innocence, TC tries to calm him down, saying that she’s guilty of many things, but not of Fred’s death. Ro screams at TC that she’s not his friend, never was, never will be, but he chose her as his reina so he’ll tell the police that it was all an accident.

Excellent recap Adriana. This was a crazy episode.

I was shocked when Fred turned out to be Scorpion Man. What?! Ro says he'll stick by TC, but I think this has forever changed the way he feels about TC. I think TC has to be careful about the way she treats him from now on.

TC has actually covered herself pretty well on this Fred thing. She announced to the whole staff that she was going to reopen Gourmet Palmer. Now it seems that Fred took it upon himself to sabotage Rei’s new restaurant and to stalk her to demand the head chef job. There is no evidence that she approached him first and put him up to the sabotage. Nothing was written and no money exchanged hands.

I actually don't think Gris told Rei about what had happened to Amalia until she called him when he was at the hotel. I actually meant to mention it yesterday that Gris continues to rely on herself, her kids, and her girlfriends, in that order, and Rei seems to be an afterthought when these major things happen in her life.

Thanks for the great recap!

Anyone catch exactly what Vanessa said about Reinaldo? It still seems like a crush to me, but I'm curious what she said about her attraction to him. But at least she's figured out one of his mating habits--help him with packing or unpacking.

Are we to assume that Fred somehow died immediately from a gut wound? It doesn't seem very likely, but I suppose falling down the Stairs of Death didn't help. I loved seeing Ro finally standing up to TC, for at least a little while.

I also enjoyed seeing Mario talk seriously and directly with Paloma and Diosa. That's one of the pay-offs, I guess, of developing broad comic characters throughout a hundred episodes--when they suddenly turn around and get honest and real, we take them seriously. We saw that with Ro, Iris, and Mario in this episode.

Marido

thanks Adriana, wonderful recap,
you covered everything so well!

I kept waiting for someone to go check Amalia's car, (maybe it's still driving around), but I guess johnny-on-the-spot Fernando probably took care of all of that.

I was surprised typhoon Teresa called Reinaldo instead of her usual body disposal guy.

I hadn't made the connection that Victoria was Alba's niece until she said it, wow, no wonder she went thunk when Esther picked the parents, but why were those there to choose from.

not to worry about Sol being a mother, her fans need her more.

I don't know why Esther isn't interested in being just a consultant to Fina Estampa, working part time at home, rather than a full partner.

I think all of the good guys should disguise themselves as TC's victims and go trick-or-treating at TC's house, is Iris going to show up there in full rant, why did Mario let her go out alone after her panic attack?

(btw Maritza Rodríguez (TC) has arrived in "Rafael Orozco, el ídolo" ready to reek havoc in that world as well.)

MARIDO

Super, super recap, Adriana! I especially appreciated the reminder that Fred was expecting twins with his WIFE. I had forgotten that detail.

I was sorry that Ro backed down when he was really in the swing of things calling TC what she really is. The job market must be really terrible in Miami.

Why in blue blazes does Reinaldo feel he has to rush right over there and deal with Dead Fred? He should have told her to call the police and let the chips fall where they may. I think Manuel may have called them. When TC said she had to make a call, I expected it to be to Fernando's 24-Hour Body Disposal!

I hope Reinaldo realizes that Fred didn't come up with his sabotage and desire to be the new chef at Gourmet Palmer all by himself.

I really enjoyed the scene with Iris and Mario also, Utah Desert. I think they're working up to Iris reforming, if TC doesn't off her soon.

Utah Desert, I can't exactly quote what Vainessa said about Reinaldo. But she told the other university girlfriend that she had really missed her chance to move on Rei when he separated from TC. The gist of it was that she'd foolishly wasted her time on Juan Pablo, who's still in love with his wife.

She's suffering from the classic "other woman" or "other man" telenovela delusion. Despite all evidence to the contrary these characters believe they can make the person who's madly in love with the protagonist fall for them instead. And she was musing to herself in the hotel room about some unspecified plan for that evening.

I'm wracking my brain about whether Beatriz would have any claim on Victoria. I can't think of anything legal. She voluntarily donated her eggs. She knew her deceased husband's sperm was on file. And, without realizing it, Esther selected the bio parents. We can say that Alba should have spoken up and had Esther choose again. But I still can't see anyone forcing Esther to give up her baby. My disaster scenario is that she IS forced, through the usual crappy TN legal rules, and JP is her consolation prize.

I agree, Adriana, that all signs point to Esther taking that miserable creep JP back. But, please, please Nooooooo!

When did the scorpion come up? I missed that part. But, wow to the actor playing Ro. He looked so devastated, both Fred and his fantasy about TC dying at once. TC definitely needs to watch herself because his loyalty has taken a big hit.

I never like the "surprise" pregnancy story, but I forgive them this time because it gave them a chance to make Tony look bad. I will always approve of that.

MARIDO

Kelly, a couple of times they showed Ro at his apartment, where he spends almost no time! They showed only the feet and ankles of a man, obviously his lover, stretched out on his bed. They showed the scorpion then.

Kelly, the scorpion came up a couple of times in the past, when Ro was at home and TC suddenly called him for one of her "urgent" errants. We never saw the guy, just his ankle and the tattoo and we kept wondering who he might be.

Novelera, I'm pretty sure Beatriz has no rights over Victoria. Except the Telenovela call of the blood Rights, of course!

I think Alba should have just asked Esther to choose other donors and explained her why. This would have avoided all the mess that will surely follow.

Deb, Maritza Rodriguez just announced that she's pregnant with twins, too, apparently as soon as she finished filming Marido she got pregnant - so her part on Rafael Orozco might be short lived?

Utah, the whole talk between Iris and Mario was pretty impressive - I especially liked him, I was sure he was with Iris just for the money, but apparently he does care about her.
Vanesa is an idiot, but she has no limits in her idiocy, so who knows what she'll do next? Drug Rei, get him drunk, try to seduce him after he has a fight with Gris?

Vivi, you're right, that's what was bothering me about Rei being at the restaurant. Gris keeps forgetting that she has a boyfriend, who is about to move in with her. And I don't think anyone thought about calling Jose either, right?

UtahDesert- The TC character also grew on me. She's a great comedic villainess. Usually a tn has a few villains to stretch the action out, by Maritza is really doing all the heavy lifting in this tn, by herself. All while still managing to be bizarre and funny.

Jose is supposed to be a villain, but he hasn't been really. He's just a comedic character. Other than being annoying, he hasn't done anyone any harm.

I have also enjoyed the flashes of seriousness from Iris and Mario. A few episodes ago when Iris got real with Paloma and told her to stay away from TC because Paloma is too good a person to confront the darkness in TC, I saw some real humanity and love for her daughter.

AdrianaNoel, someone in the family thought about calling José, maybe Quique, but Griselda vetoed it. In her opinion and, I think she's right, his children mean less than nothing to him.

I keep hoping that it's going to turn out that Fred made up the story about the wife and twins, whether to try and get a raise or stay in the closet.

While I'm enjoying this show now, I know I may try to read recaps more than watching it as it nears its end. From what I suspect, I may not be happy with several of the endings.

Iris and Mario on the other hand are making me kind of happy. Mario has been consistently loyal to Iris and it's been fun to see. (Now all we need is for Elio and Alba to have a happy ending together!) And Vivi, I agree, it was nice to see Iris show concern for Paloma. It was just unbelievable that she wouldn't care about her daughter's safety.

Speaking of which, what I'd like to see is Jose showing some concern about his kids (other than his mini-me, Elio). I think it would be cool if there's some point at which he realized Teresa Cristina is ready to kill Amalia (because for some reason, she's always the vulnerable one--is it the female thing?) or Quique or Antonio or Quiquito, and he turns around and does the right thing, in a surprisingly and comic way.

Incidentally, does anyone else besides Griselda (and presumably, Barbara?) realize that Elio is Jose's son? Has Griselda ever mentioned it to her kids? Seriously, they have a right to know. Actually, that's one of the few loose ends in this show. Why keep Elio's identity secret? What good does that do Jose? And what earthly purpose did Elio's magical arrival have?

Thanks for the scorpion info. Must have been out of the room those times. But I'm glad to see the comments about Iris and Mario. First you think he's just a gigolo, but nope. He was very sweet with Iris during her panic attack. It's a nice surprise.

MARIDO

Sorry for my bad memory, but I can't remember if we are expecting a recap for Wednesday's episodes. I thought I'd do a quick and dirty, just in case.

TC gets away with shooting Fred because Ro wimped out, but Tía Iris almost soltó la sopa (spilled the beans) when she referred to another Mafioso being bumped off here. TC's facial expression: priceless!

I think Iván's ex, Karen, is faking a death sentence diagnosis. When he left and asked her to lie down to rest before leaving, she jumped back up and looked very fishy looking at a photo of Iván and Paloma together. Max saw her moving around and may be of some help.

Leo is a changed person now that he's training with Max. He seems perfectly happy, at least until he sees Penny and Victor coming into Tacos Bar together.

Antonio again showed me a character flaw. He disagreed with his mother's theory that TC was behind the two attempts on Amalia's life. Being the snob he is, he basically said something like: how could a high-class person like that do such a thing.

Tone deaf TC offers Ro an opportunity to stay overnight and sleep at her feet in her bedroom. The look she got in return could strip the paint off the walls. But she does add an interesting detail. She owned the house (or apt as it looks to me) and, according to her, in a weak moment, signed it over to him.

Esther is having a fabulous time in bed with Gabriel, something that gives me more hope that a return to Juan Pablo is not in the cards.

Wow! Manuel actually expressed sympathy to Ro for the loss of Fred.

I'm pretty disgusted with the latest blatant telenovela cliché! Reinaldo says he took a tranquilizer (??? not like him at all) because of the death of Fred and stupidly allows Vanessa to ply him with liquor. When he passes out on the bed, she jumps in bed with him in her sexy undies and takes cell phone pictures making it look like they're post-coital or something. I suppose she'll tell him the next day they had sex. Bah!

Did the writers forget about Fred being married? They showed a flashback of his being alive and saying that, when he became a top chef, they could come out of the closet.

In a very sweet scene, Celeste came over to Ro's (they're neighbors as I remember from when Ro saved Celeste from Manuel before) to spend the night on the sofa to make him feel some comfort.

Marido 11/13/13, Wednesday Recap:
Not sure is Anita is going to do a recap today, so here is a very barebones highlights of what happened:
Part 1:
- Tony tries to talk to Pati about what she’s feeling after seeing how Rafa reacted to Amalia’s pregnancy. She doesn’t want to hear it, and leaves the hospital.
- After Pati is gone, Gris tells Tony and Quique that she thinks TC put the snake in Amalia’s car and locked her in the bathroom and set the fire.
- Later, at home, Tony and Q talk about it. Tony isn’t sure about this snake thing, nor does he believe TC would kill anyone. Q is more willing to believe, because he has seen that TC’s initial prejudice towards Gris has turned into hatred, especially since Gris and Rei got together.
- Over at TC’s house, it seems that Gris has convinced Ro to take the blame for struggling with the intruder and shooting him. He makes his statement to the police, as Rei and TC look on. He’s obviously very upset, but sticks to the script that he only knew Fred as an employee at Gourmet Palmer. Gris sticks to her story that Fred was stalking her. Rei asks why she didn’t same something to him when the stalking started, and TC throws the blame back on him for being more concerned about other people.
- Iris comes over, sees the dead body and the police and starts to freak out and babble things about it happening “again” and about mafiosos. The police and Rei are very interested in what she has to say, but when TC subtly points out the dead guy is Fred (not a mafia man from NY), Iris plays it off as just a movie she saw and TC insinuates that her aunt is crazy. Iris makes a hasty retreat.
- Rei decides he doesn’t need to be there either and goes to the hospital to be with Gris, who is spending the night there with Rafa. Somewhere in their he calls Simon with updates, who updates the whole restaurant staff. He asks if anyone knew Fred was trying to become head chef at TC’s new restaurant. No one knows anything. (Fred obviously kept his secrets close.)

Part 2:

- Ro is so broken up, that even Manuel feels bad for him (even though he doesn’t understand love between two men). He takes him home (Ro refused TC’s “generous” offer to sleep at her feet, pointing out that the place for her dogs, not him), and tells Celeste and Sol about it. Celeste goes over to comfort him and spends the night with him.
- TC calls Jose over, but when he gets there, she says she just wants to cuddle. He says it’s all or nothing. He’s not some telenovela galan! He hikes up his pants and leaves.
- Ivan calls a lonely Paloma, who still can’t accept the idea of living with his ex-wife, Carol. He leaves (hopefully to see Paloma), and then we see Carol looking at a picture of Ivan and Paloma with a sneaky look. Max sees her, but makes sure she doesn’t see him.
- Ester and Gabe have hot sex at her place. Meanwhile, lonely JP calls Vanessa who isn’t answering her phone. She’s packing Rei’s bags and plotting.
- Rei and Gris kiss, hug and comfort each other over their mutual rough day. They decide his move into her house will wait till the next day and he goes back to the hotel.
- Now, for the most contrived part of the episode. Rei proceeds to make a series of dumb decisions:
1) He leaves Vanessa alone in his hotel room with his hotel key. He is shocked to find her still there when he returns late. She is happy to hear that he’s not moving to Gris’ place that night.
2) He has already taken a few sedatives even before arriving at the hotel, because of what a trying day it was. (And he drove under the influence of sedatives? Huh?)
3) Despite this, he accepts accompanying Vanessa to the hotel bar to have a drink. She convinces him to have a few drinks. Mixed with the sedatives, he can barely stand up and get himself to his room. He is quickly out like a light, and in a deep sleep.
- This allows Vanessa to use her key to sneak into his room, get naked, get in bed with him, and to take a series of compromising pictures with a dead-to-the-world Rei with her cell phone.

Novelera- Just seeing your post. I was writing when you were writing. I think we covered it al between the two of us.

Thanks, Vivi! And you got Iván's ex's name right. It is Carol, not Karen.

Great explanations, Vivi, of Reinaldo's boneheaded moves last night!

Sorry for the typos. I think you can figure out that I meant TC convinced Ro to take the blame, not Gris. :)

I wonder what Carol's game is? I really hope Max puts an end to whatever it is.

Speaking of Max, when he was speaking to Clara last night, I wondered if maybe he could be the man for her and not Gabe's cousin.

Vivi, from what I remember, TC didn't convince Ro to take the blame. She convinced him to confirm the shooting was self defense, that Fred pulled the trigger during the struggle. Ro was accusing her of maybe intentionally pulling the trigger, to eliminate him.

I'm loving Esther and Gabriel together. I hope they make it to the end. JP is such an ass.

Anyone have an idea how many episodes left?
And any word on what will be replacing it?
Thx,

MARIDO, Thursday Part 1

Tonight brought to you by the words perra, bruja, zorra, bitch. As in Vanessa.

We get a repeat of Tia Ines walking into TC’s house and yelling “Oh my gosh!” and other stuff of last night.

At the hospital, Rafa talks to Gris about giving up the easy road. He’s learned his lesson and will fight temptation to be a good guy for Amalia and the baby. Then he refers to Gris Suegra, and she’ll have none of that. Not yet.

Ro talks to Celeste. She’s surprised that he’s going to work and not Fred’s burial. He wants to but he can’t. Their hidden love has rules, no questions asked or answered, and he couldn’t break them by being at the funeral acting like the widow. He’s gone and it’s over. The man they are putting in the ground isn’t the Fred he knew. Manuel is waiting to take Ro to work. Ro tells him, “vamanos impotente” and Manuel tells R, “Don’t mess with me Bambi”. And they are back to normal.

Amalia is discharged from the hospital and after some arguing between Gris and Tony over who will push the wheelchair, she says she’ll walk out on her own two legs.

At the posada Simon tells Paty what happened with Fred. But that’s not the only reason he wanted to talk to her. He has been thinking about life and how it can change so suddenly, and about the two of them. He doesn’t want the casual thing anymore. He wants to make her happy and be happy and wants to know either way if there is a possibility of a future together. Paty doesn’t want the pressure, but Simon says he isn’t a boy (Tony!) and doesn’t want games. He did get jealous of her going over the house where Tony lives, and then to the hospital for Amalia, which she explains, but he thinks she should have called him. This makes him sound more whiney than he was. It’s more like an adult conversation about expectations. But she tells him she’s not sure she can give him what he wants.

TC meets with the PI about who bought the restaurant. Barinsky has a deposit in his account right before the purchase and only 20% is left. So who really bought it? The PI will find out if she ponies up the money.

Rei wakes up with the zorra and is shocked. He wakes her up as he gets dressed and wants to know what she’s doing in his bed. He knows he left her downstairs and came up alone. She gives him some cock and bull story about coming back up to give him the key and blah blah blah. Tapate! (cover yourself!) She pretends to be offended that he doesn’t “remember” the night before. I don’t think he’s buying it but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

Amalia, Tony and Gris get to the house. Tony leaves for school. Amalia says that she adores him despite his defects. (His many, many, many defects. He should end up with Vanessa.)

Thursday part 2

At Fashion Motors, Ed greets Rafa who says it’s like he never stopped being a mechanic. Then he takes a break to call his amor, Amalia. Susanna is in the background, annoyed. After the call she confronts him, questioning his fall from grace, going from manager to mechanic, and whether this is legit. Better an honest mechanic than a manipulator like her.

Back at the mansion there’s a nice mother and daughter talk about how much things have changed, Gris going from handyman to millionaire, and everything between Rafa and Amalia. Then Amalia mentions everything that happened due to the coincidence of the serpiente getting in her car. It’s not a coincidence, Gris tells her. Someone has planned all this. But Amalia tells her she doesn’t have any enemies. “But I do”, say Gris. Amalia knows exactly who she’s talking about. Can’t the maridas put in video around the property?

Ro walks into TC’s house and cautiously approaches the stairs. He flashbacks to Fred’s death. He kneels on the ground where Fed fell, touches the ground, and then TC comes in ruining the scene. She didn’t think he’d show up, but he says work will replace the pain. She is pleased and declares him employee of the month. He doesn’t want to talk about the situation anymore but this doesn’t depend on her but the police. He lawyer says they may have to go to the police again and I think she’s making sure he keeps his mouth shut. The object of his affection has definitely lost some luster, but he’ll say as little as possible to the cops.

She then calls Fernando to berate him about his failure. He tells her he did what he was told and it isn’t his fault. She is NOT satisfied but offers to give him one more chance and to meet in the usual place. Ro is in the background, probably listening but it’s hard to tell for sure.

Rei is at the restaurant giving the Fred story to the whole staff all at once. Simon thought it was something that should be done in person. Simon questions TC’s story about Fred wanting to work in her new restaurant, but Rei is like, who knows? There’s no way they’d be able to prove it if her story is a lie. They then talk about a new sous chef and Magda gets the promotion. Good for her!

Vanessa is downloading the selfies she took to the computer. Perra.

Gris leaves Amalia at the house, telling her if she needs anything at all, to call. Amalia has happy thoughts about the baby and the proposal Rafa did at the hospital. Awwww.

TC sneaks downstairs and out to the sauna that is apparently on for a change, since Fer is there with only a towel on. About time someone enjoy that huge sauna. She orders his to dress “right now. Ya!”, and he asks if she’s sure she wants him to dress right there. Yep. Well, as she orders. And he stands up, losing the towel in front of her, and gets dressed. He asks who the next victim is and this time she’s going after Kike.

Kike brings tacos to Kikito and his little friend, Juliana. He asks about him mom and says she told him she’d be back. Kike doesn’t look so sure. He’ll pick the kids up after school to play. Good for Juliana to snare this cutie early.

Thursday part 3

If there is a right-hand man of Gris, it’s Kike and that's who TC wants next. Fer is giving TC a hard time about her never paying up with besitos, thanking him, etc. He asks about the next plan for Kike and if he’ll have to put a hungry crocodile in Kike’s room. But she’s creative. She has something new in mind and it involves a pool. We don’t get to hear the rest.

Gris goes over taxes and paperwork with Gigante. Something about paying for health insurance for employees. He suggests cutting expenses- not that he wants to but he is the accountant- but she’s been on the other side and won’t take anything away from her employees.

Barb calls Kike to ask how Kikito is. He’s fine as he’s been since the day she left. She tells him she wants to be close to her son and to his father if he’ll let her. But then she has to hang up because someone is at the door. It’s the antique dealer agreeing to buy the knives.

TC tells Fer not to look for her again. He may look like an idiot but he’s not, he tells her, and he’ll take care of Kike. (But he’s 0 for 2 so don’t put money on this).

Back at the restaurant, Rei opens the pics that Vanessa apparently sent him just as Gris walks in the office. She asks if he’s packed and then about his sad face. She assume it’s about Fred. Cara de crap de Reinaldo.

At Fina Estampa Marcia comments on Vanessa’s happy face and good mood.

Elsa brings in some clothes for TC and find Ro on the floor with sad face and she’s sad for him. But Manuel is done with sympathy. He’s with Celeste who has come to the barrio to check in on Amalia. He asks if she’d leave him to marry Ro and she laughs and tells only he would think of something so ridiculous. But know what? If she did, it would be easier to care for him that Manuel. Well, sure, he says, because they can talk about hair, nails, makeup. But there’s one thing he can’t take care of- la cama. Then they get a little hot and heavy and Celeste tries, half-heartedly, to stop. But nope. Then head over to Gris’s to borrow a room and Gris’s bed. Ewww. But Manuel ruins the mood. Celeste says if Gris found them , she’d kill her. But Manuel says nothing would happen because there’s enough for her too. And Celeste ends things before it got too icky on her friend’s bad. He complains and compares himself to a train without brakes. She tells him he’ll have to ask Ro to help, because she won’t because of the lack of respect for her and her comadre. He goes downstairs and is tucking in his shirt and holding his jacket over his groin when Gris walks in. Before he can leave she asks what he thought of her bed, and she chuckles.

Back at Fina Estampa, Esther has to leave Victoria with Vanessa so she can go see Juan Pablo, but doesn’t want to leave the baby too long. He asks if she’s thought about the numbers as she comes back to the business. She wants 50% like before. Good for her!

Kelly

(Side note- I wanted to find more words for Vanessa and instead found that there is a Wikipedia entry for Latin, as in Roman, profanity in case you get bored at work).

ps. Changed my mind. Tony should not end up with Vanessa because then the rest of the family would have to put up with her.

Great recap Kelly. We now see how the writers are going to break Gris and Rei up, and they're going to really make it messy. Gris will see the photos, and Rei will find out about Gris owning the restuarant. Tears and bitterness on both sides awaits us. Joy!

How does Vanessa think this will win Rei's love? Even if he and Gris break up, he will never want to see her skanky face again.

Although he likely won't succeed in killing him, somehow I feel Fer will have more luck really hurting Quique than he did hurting Amalia. Gris needs to get an investigator on this. How does she plan on finding evidence if she's just sitting back and allowing her family to be a sitting duck for TC's schemes?

I'm glad that Simon put his cards on the table with Pati. It's better for him to walk away now, then sit around and hope that Pati eventually falls in love with him. He's right. Life is too short.

I still don't understand why Pati loves Tony so much. Just like I don't understand why Celeste loves Manuel. I don't care how good they are in bed.

I just watched Monday's episode. Reinaldo's behavior was so out of character and such an utter plot contrivance. Taking sedatives? Because why? One of his employees died suddenly? That made him more distraught than anything that ever happened with Teresa Cristina? Or is it because the love of his life is at the hospital with her daughter? That would be a reason for making sure you're in complete control of all your faculties so you can rush to the hospital if she needs you. Or are we to assume that this has been a secret problem of his all along? No way. No foundation has been laid for this. (Now if instead they were going to reveal an unhealthy dependence on his blow-dryer, we'd believe that one.)

I mean, Juan Soler looks nice in his underwear, but that hardly justifies subjecting us to this storyline. (Well, maybe a little.) But I was pleased--upon watching Tuesday's episode at what seemed to be Reinaldo's utter certainty that nothing happened between him and Vanessa. Maybe I've watched too many soaps, but I was assuming that she would succeed even in convincing him that they'd gone upstairs together.

Of course, the smart thing to do would be to immediately tell Griselda (anyone could have predicted with one hundred percent certainty that there would be pictures, and hasn't he been reminded of the ubiquity of phone cameras kind of recently?), but then this wouldn't be a telenovela. But it would be fun to watch, wouldn't it? Imagine the gasp on the part of the viewership if he went and told Griselda right away! And imagine the collective satisfaction when Vanessa turns up and tries to show her photos. The writers could come up with such great lines for Gris: "Yes, he does look rather sweet when he's sleeping, I agree completely. Although I usually see him with a satisfied look on his face, rather than semi-comatose." Why not entertain us by surprising us rather than by following the old cliches?

The one silver lining is that this makes Vanessa irredeemable as a romantic partner--she's out of the running as far as Reinaldo (or JP or any other major character on this show) is concerned? Right? Right?

Kelly, thanks a million! I was really busy and only just got a chance to read your excellent recap.

Yep, perra, zorra, bitch, cualquiera, intrigante, and on and on. I've always disliked Vanessa. And, yes, Vivi, only a completely delusional idiot would think a man could fall in love with someone who took photos of him in a drugged state to ruin his happy relationship.

So far, Rei doesn't believe he really did the deed with her. One good thing is that Juan Pablo shoots blanks, so she can't pin a baby on him!

Really Juan Pablo and Vanessa TOTALLY deserve each other.

Utah Desert, I agree that it would be a breath of fresh air if Rei went straight to Griselda and told all. But, of course, Telenovela Rule No. 12 requires all protagonists to break up at least once due to a misunderstanding or false evidence planted by a male or female rival for the protagonist's affections.

I just thought of another thing. Everyone seemed to swallow TC's story about Fred coming up with the idea of being the new chef of Gourmet Palmer. But when TC showed up at the opening of Rei Gourmet, she insisted on his calling the whole staff together (and why anyone does her bidding I'll never understand) and announcing she was re-opening Gourmet Palmer. She either outright said or broadly hinted that she'd hire the staff at HER restaurant. Why doesn't anyone remember that and deduce that she'd tried to entice Fred.

Putting up surveillance cameras around Griselda's place has been mentioned at least once here, while not on the show, and Griselda has implied that she will be investigating or looking for proof of TC's guilt. But shouldn't her first thought be to warn all of her children and have them take precautions? Shouldn't their safety be her first concern?

Recap Later today. :)

I don't like the way that the eventual Antonio-Patricia reconciliation seems to be shaping up, although we expected it. Everything seems to be confirming that Antonio is right, that Patricia simply cannot get over him, that she is hopelessly in love with him, that she is going to end up with him whether she wants to or not. Sorry, but that's not a happy ending. I see two people marry in a situation like that, with Patricia unconditionally in love with Antonio and with Antonio flawed and unscrupulous, and I expect that he will continue to do things that hurt her and that she will have to continue to accept things she feels are unacceptable.

I guess we can only hope that something huge happens to Antonio that can somehow semi-plausibly lead to "character development" in the remaining episodes.

I keep noticing Reinaldo's hair now. I meant my earlier remark about him and his blow-dryer seriously. Maybe I notice what that front bit of his hair is doing, that way it heads one direction and then takes a sharp turn back, because I spent hours every week achieving the same effect while in high school in the seventies. (It was on both sides then and we called it "wings.")

But I enjoy how Reinaldo and his hair decisively stood up (well, not the hair, it decisively lays flat) to Vanessa. No nonsense at all. He observes the obvious--he was dead to the world in all the photos. He tells her that he only opened his home and his restaurant to her because of her being one of his daughter's best friends. If Reinaldo has a fault, it's been his possibly excessive politeness and pleasantness, and finally he put those qualities aside to tell Vanessa the truth. Of course, the problem with being a forty-something chef is that he's not the most tech-savvy person on earth (although I thought it was pretty cool how he punctuated his rant with the cell-phone deletions he was supposedly doing), and so it doesn't seem to have crossed his mind that Vanessa is likely to have back-ups of photos that she emailed to him.

UtahDesert- Yeah. It was nice to see Rei put aside the politeness for a bit and lay into Vain. ITA. He should have also taken her laptop and deleted all pictures from her hard drive and gone into her outbox and deleted the e-mails she sent with the photos. And even then, she could have it backed up on a cloud or a flashdrive or another external drive. Technology is a b!tch.

My fingers and toes are crossed that Vainessa sent those pictures to Reinaldo directly from her cell phone and he deleted them all and forever. She certainly looked distressed enough when he did it.

I loved that scene so much I watched it 3 times.

Noverlera: I'm about to recap it. I loved it too!

MARIDO viernes 15 de noviembre Part 1

Esther and JP negotiate. Esther knows to start high–she asks for 50%. JP counters with 10%. She’s insulted. She asks for 20% but demands full autonomy. JP reluctantly agrees…but to 15%. She accepts. Later the Fina Estampa staff toasts Esther’s return. He asks if she’s going to bring that kid to work and she announces her intent to work from home.

The thought of Celeste and Manuel getting hot and heavy makes me want to hurl so I’m glad I didn’t see yesterday’s episode. Gris pretends to be upset with Celeste about her escapade. The two break out laughing.

Amalia’s employee assures her he can handle things at the store. She remains on bed rest.

Leo is having a bad day in the ring. Max makes him stop and Leo says he should just leave. Max tells him that’s not how a fighter behaves and Clinton agrees. Leo apologizes and Max orders him to do 50 pushups which becomes 100 as soon as Leo opens his mouth to protest.

At Tacos Bar Esther tells Gabe that the share she won from JP is only symbolic but it’s just the beginning. He’s worried that working closely with JP is going to rekindle the love they had for each other. She assures him that he’s the kindest, most gentle man she has ever met. (OK but does she love him?) He says he’s reassured. Clara and Beto are watching Victoria. Clara doesn’t think Beto knows anything about taking care of a baby but he says he took care of his two daughters. She asks him if he’s a widower and he says he prefers not to talk about it. Later, we see that Beto can indeed change a diaper. And it looked like he did it on one of the tables. Maybe it’s a cultural thing but that would make me lose my appetite.

Paloma asks Iris what made her so nervous the night Fred died. Does she think that TC is behind it? Iris says she wasn’t there when it happened but Ro stated to the police that the gun went off during a struggle with TC. Paloma says Ro would sell his soul to protect TC and that TC is losing control of herself. Iris maintains that they have to be very careful and keep their distance from her. Paloma tells her that she’s worried about Gris because Gris feels that TC is behind all of the incidents that have occurred lately. She asks Iris to help her find proof of TC’s crimes.

Celeste arrives at the laundro-cafe and Sol is not there. Where can she be? She’s in a car smooching with Daniel. He is the one who wants to stop but she insists. She has this fantasy about her being a star married to a doctor.

Vanesa is late for her study session with Pati and Helen. Helen asks her how it’s going at work. Vanesa tells them about Esther coming back as designer. Helen warns Vanesa that JP and Esther could get back together again. Antonio walks up. “As opposed to me because you’re the only woman in my life.” Pati asks, “Oh? I’m the only one?” “You always were and always will be and will be again.” ¡Deeesssnuuudo estooooy! [Barf!]

Alba remembers an earlier conversation she had with her assistant Gloria re: the fact that Esther chose Guillermo as her sperm donor. Meanwhile Gloria calls Beatriz and tells her that they have to meet today. Gloria looks up and sees Alba who takes the phone from her and hangs up.

At the beach Gris relates her fears to Paloma re: TC. “She hates me and she’s trying to get back at me by hurting my family.” “But we have no proof.” Both agree that confronting her would be a waste of time. Gris knows someone who can get her to back off and it’s not Reinaldo.

Viernes 11/15 Part 2

And Gris goes to see the person who has no limit to what he’ll do. “You’re finally good for something, Jose Salinas,” she says as she walks up the driveway. She has to knock twice before Elio answers. “Where is he?” “Doña Griselda. Are you here for some róbalo?” “My diet is a bit more refined.” He tells her José isn’t home and that he is no longer living at the hotel. She’s not too happy that he won’t say where José is. She continues. “You asked me about José’s róbalo. Ever hear about Carrasco’s monkey wrench?” “Oh I’m so scared. How many are you going to bring?” “You should be.” She laughs. “Your father can catch all the pirañas he wants but you,” she says as she glances down, “you can’t even catch a fish in a fish tank.” She walks away. Elio is one of those persons who will think of the perfect comeback two days later. Not quick on his feet at all.

Reinaldo goes to Fina Estampa and asks to speak with Vanesa immediately. Marcia informs him she is in a meeting with JP who notes that Vanesa has been in a bad mood since the announcement that Esther will be coming back to work at Fina Estampa. They leave his office and Marcia informs them that Reinaldo is here to see Vanesa and it’s urgent. JP thinks this is highly strange.

Alba warns Gloria that she can’t share Victoria’s parentage with Beatriz. Gloria doesn’t agree; Beatriz has a right to know she has a child with Guillermo. Alba says no good will come of it and it will only hurt Beatriz. She warns Gloria that she’ll be making the biggest mistake of her life. Meanwhile Esther and Victoria come home and she places Victoria in her crib for a nap. Esther says that Alba will be coming by to see her. The baby that’s playing Victoria is so beautiful! Beatriz is in her office thinking about Gloria’s call. She’s interrupted by Jethro who notes that she hasn’t been by the house. Beatriz explains that she and Antonio are just friends and probably will never be more. The only woman for him is Pati. We see her studying and she looks up to see him. She leaves the area. ¡Deeessnuuudo estoooooy!

Time for some dialogue. Reinaldo and Vanesa:

Vanesa: “Hi Reinaldo. Nice to see you drop by.”
Reinaldo: “Can we speak in private?”
V: “Of course. Let’s go to the office. Something wrong? You seem a bit tense.”
R: “What are you trying to do sending me pictures of the two of us in bed?”
V: “Well since you didn’t remember what happened I sent them to you to try to help you remember…”
R: “¡Cínica! The only thing you did was to confirm to me that you made the whole thing up. In every one of those photos I’m deeply asleep and I’m sure I didn’t wake up.”
V: “Well we have opposing opinions on what happened…”
Reinaldo grabs a cell phone from the desk.
R: “Your cell phone?”
V: “What do you need it for? Give it back Reinaldo!”
R: “I’m going to delete every photo.”
V: “You have no right…”
R: “I have every right to protect myself. I hope you didn’t have some stupid idea of trying to blackmail me with these photos…I opened my home and my restaurant to you because you were one of my daughter’s best friends. But it’s obvious she doesn’t really know you. Willful, manipulative, unscrupulous…totally deserving of scorn. Here’s your cell. And I don’t want to see your face ever again. Is that clear? Thank you.”

¡Ay Reinaldo! Polite to the end. If Vanesa has half a brain she has made copies of the photos and stored them somewhere else.

Viernes 11/15 Part 3

JP wants to know what happened with Vanesa and Reinaldo tells him to ask her.

Rafa visits Amalia who is looking pretty down. He thinks it’s because she can’t go back to work yet but she explains. “Someone tried to kill me. My mother thinks someone put that snake in my car and it’s the same person who locked me in the bathroom during the fire.” “So it’s…” “Teresa Cristina Palmer.”

TC catches Ro talking to someone on her cell. He says he tried to find out who it was but the other party refused to identify himself. He warns her if she’s planning another strike to be more careful. “The perfect crime doesn’t exist. Sometimes there’s a trail, sometimes the guilty returns to the scene of the crime.” “I’m not hiding anything, Agatha Christie! I’m not doing anything wrong.” She grabs her cell from him and answers. It’s her private eye who informs her he is about to discover who really owns Rey Gourmet.

José returns home to find Gris in the living room. He asks her what she’s doing there and she tells him she misses him. He drops his pants and says he knew some day she would come back. “You idiot! I was being sarcastic. Pull your pants up!” She tells him she’s there about Amalia. He says that after fishing the last thing he needs is to hear problems about kids. She bangs his fishing pole and that wises him up. Gris is out of patience. She tells him that TC tried to kill Amalia.

TC pretends to be talking to a masseuse. After Ro leaves she gets down to business. But Ro doesn’t close the door all the way and he listens to the conversation. He takes a laptop and looks up the detective’s website. I actually stopped the tape and read some of it because it’s in English.

“Have you lost your mind?” José simply cannot believe that a refined woman like TC would stoop to murder by snake. “That woman wants to destroy me and since she can’t do that she’s going after our children. OUR children! It’s not a joke!” He thinks she’s jealous but she says she doesn’t care what he does and with whom but doing it with her is putting their children at risk. They bicker and finally Gris asks him a favor: “Tell that stuck-up bitch not to come near my daughter.” José believes since Gris has a problem with her she should be the one to do it. Gris warns him if anything happens to their children or grandchildren he’ll have to answer to her. “Grandchild. There’s only one.” She informs him Amalia is pregnant and she almost lost the baby because of the snake in her car. As Gris is leaving he asks, “How did Amalia get pregnant? Who’s not taking good care of her?” Gris lands a huge bofetada across his face. Not only was it heard in Miami but also in Key West, Jacksonville, Pensacola and every point in between.

TC asks Manuel and Elsa where Ro is; they haven’t seen him. She figures it out on her own and sneaks up on him while he’s reading the detective’s website. He chastises her for sneaking up behind him and she answers with an in-poor-taste gay joke: “You’re used to coming from behind.” He asks her directly what she has to do with this Detective Francisco Vargas. They go into her bedroom and she says she never gave him permission to eavesdrop on her conversations. He counters that he’s trying to protect her and she informs him that protection is not on his official list of duties. He worries about her especially when she talks to that Fernando character who’s going to learn secrets about her. She tells him to shut his mouth. She says that she is not under any obligation to divulge her secrets. She points out that Ro has secrets of his own, for example, Fred. He didn’t tell her because she would tell Reinaldo and he would tell Simón and pretty soon the whole restaurant would know. He doesn’t want to know her secret so he can tell everyone. It’s only to protect her. He tries to resign but she reconsiders and says she hired a detective to find out who owns Rey Gourmet.

Rafa says this thing with TC is really serious and Amalia is worried that they’ll never have any proof. Antonio comes in and hears about the doings of Pati’s mother.

Thanks for the recap! There was a lot of dialogue I didn't catch, so I especially appreciate it.

If I understand correctly, Esther is making out like a bandit, right? JP bought out her share of Fina Estampa, so she has a tidy sum banked away as a result, and yet to become a partner once again with 15%, she's putting in zero dollars?

I'm glad someone else had doubts about two restaurant employees changing a diaper at work. Where are those health department inspectors when you need them?

Thanks so much for the recap, Sue. I love your snarky comments. I also am sick, sick, sick of "Desnuuuudo Estooooy!"

I'm watching Stanford play USC so will write more later.

Wow, José IS worthless, isn't he? He's refusing to acknowledge Gris' fear for her children because it would inconvenience him to lose his bed partner and possible meal ticket. And the colossal nerve of hinting Gris wasn't a good parent because Amalia got pregnant. I hope she loosened some teeth.

I'm sorry you all got confused about last Wednesday. I thought I had made it clear several times that I would guest recap for Wed Oct 30 & Nov 6 but you would need to find a regular beginning Nov 13. And if you couldn't find a regular, I could be available for Dec 11 and 18, if need be.

Anyway, I have been enjoying the recaps from afar, but not the episodes. I did enjoy both of last Wednesday's. Again, sorry if I didn't make it any clearer.

Sue- Excellent recap! And thanks for detailing the Rei-Vain conversation.

I also thought Ester got a pretty sweet deal. Already got paid for 50% of the company, and now she has 15% for no money, and she has autonomy.

Jose's reaction to the suggestion that TC is a killer, was just like Tony's. She's too fine a lady. Ha! They both have seen her very unladylike behavior.

Gris needs to come up with another plan for keeping her family safe and finding evidence. Obviously, she can't count on Jose.

Anita- No worries. We just couldn't remember what days you said. You were quite clear. In any case, we'll just muddle through on Wednesdays and make it work.
