Lo Que La Vida Me Robo 18 - Maria and Juventino Create Some Really Bad Karma - Friday, December 13th, 2013

I am posting the first part of this recap so you can enjoy discussing with your morning coffee.
I have not been feeling well for the past 36 hours, but, if I am able to I will post the rest of the recap in the WesT coast AM.
In the meanwhile, feel free to add bullet points to fill out the exciting story.
I think at this point we can safely say that maria and Juventino are beyond the Pale..
Happy Friday the 13th.
Elna June
Poor Josefina! Better she see what a dog Dimi is but I hate she is hurt by it.
I remember the Juve character in AR was sleazy bad, too.
Thank you EJ. . .please take care of yourself, we can discuss the goings on of sleeze ball and slut cake! Please do what you need to feel better.
Oh can these two get any more disgusting or anvil-worthy?
Had a LFMB flashback as Dimwit was "kissing" Fina. Poor Fina, she must be really desperate. I know she's not dumb but it seems she doesn't have a Lottie-like friend to help her spot slugs like Dimi.
Back to breakfast. Thank you EJ.

Two important thinsg happened last night:
* The fight between Montse and Ale:
- Maria helps Montse leave the ranch, giving her a horse and directions to a shack where a man is waiting to help her get back to Agua Azul;
- Montse has been preparing for her big escape by wearing the same yellow & pristine dress and high heels she had all day (must've gotten the run away outfit advice from Oriana Caligaris);
- somehow Montse manages to find the shack, but nobody is there, yet;
- back at the ranch, Juvie is about to go for her, but Ale is up, shouting that his wife has dissappeared and they need to find her ASAP;
- a search party is put together, Ale somehow feels that Juvie has something to do with the escape and follows him to the shack;
- Juvie arrives at Montse's hiding place and by the time Ale gets there too, Juvie is already all over her, trying to take advantage of her;
- Juvie says he was only trying to convince Montse to come back to the ranch;
- both Montse and Ale are so furious with one another, that they don't stop to aknowledge that Juvie was about to rape Montse;
- Ale drags Montse home, kicking and screaming and they start the worse fight they've had so far;
- Ale wants to know who she was waiting for at the shack - JL, she says, but Ale knows that can't be true, because JL is DEAD!!!
- Montse starts to cry, screams her disgust for him over and over again and reminds him how much she hates him, his house, his people, basically everything about him;
- she's crying a river of tears, by the time she ends her hate fest, he's tearing up, too;
- after he storms off, she starts mourning her JL
* The adventures of Refu & Stinky
- Victor has found a new capataz, an older man called Antonio; he gives him some important documents for Ale and seds him on his way to the ranch;
- Antonio is attacked by Juvie's band (Juvie knows he's coming and wants him dead)
- the attack is being witnessed from afar by Refu & JL (they found out with Esmeralda's help where Ale took Montse)
- they go to check on Antonio - he's dead; they find his papers for Ale, realize he is going to the ranch and JL decides he's going to take Antonio's place as capataz!!
I already knew about this development because I've seen AR, but I don't remember all the details, so I'm curious to see how JL will be able to keep up his secret identity for long - I guess Victor won't be visiting Ale anytime soon.
So the Sweaty One is going to pose as the new capataz? Oh my! So what is he going to do, carry on an affair with Montse right in Ale's own house? This is a sure set up for some action-packed episodes.
Plus. . .Uni here in Michigan says it will be back Monday? No show today?
Thanks again Adriana and please feel better EJ! Healing vibes)))))))

I think Juventino's plan is to rape and murder Monserrat so that Maria can insinuate herself into Alejandro's bed and marry him. After which I think he plans to murder Alejandro and take possession of the property.
Seriously delusional. He definitely has incestuous ideas about Maria, but I thought she was smart enough to see that (at least before her father was murdered).
Her apparent lack of grief at her father's death is disturbing, too. She is likely to be just as sociopathic as her uncle. Just as delusional, too. If a man tells you he thinks of you as a sister, there will never be romance.
Rosario is demonstrating that she is smart enough to see who's really who here. We can count on her to figure out solutions.
I can't wait to see bitchy Maria's face when Rosario's true identity is revealed. However, considering the projected length of the series we could be waiting a long time for that.
As to JL passing himself off as Antonio, how is he going to be able to get away with this in the internet age? That was easy in AR, which took place in 1861, but I can't see this masquerade lasting more than 24 hours now.
To a question from yesterday, I think if JL and Refugio went to a government office to make enquiries they could be ID'd.
Corazon Indomable, Por Siempre Mi Amor, and Por Que La Vida Me Robo, will be shown on Friday in the Eastern and Central Time Zones, at their regular time. Mentir Para Vivir will not be shown at all. For those on the West Coast, check your cable grids to find out what time and day they will be showing the TNs. Uni did this last year with the telethon. Last year on the West Coast, they showed the TNs late Saturday evening or daytime on Sunday.
Part 1 of 2
Dim runs after Josefina, convinces her with a kiss that he can't quite manage without making a face (which she doesn't see because her eyes are closed) that he does love her. And he wants to marry her!
Dimitrio tells Adolfo he is planning his biggest coup yet -- he is going to fake-marry Fina the Fea. Can Adolfo help him find a fake judge and priest to perform the ceremony?
Montserrat knows very well that María only wants to get rid of her so she can have Alejandro for herself. But she agrees to the devil's deal she offers. She will be ready to leave at midnight. She will travel alone on horseback (though she is not much of a rider) to a shack. A man will meet her there -- oh yes, he is to be trusted -- and he will drive her back to Aguazul.
Night falls and Montserrat slips out as planned. We are spared the sight of her mounting and dismounting the horse while still in the pristine yellow dress and high heels. She has reached the miserable shack where she waits, frightened. She has her jewels as payment for her rescuers.
Back at the hacienda, Alejandro realizes she is gone. He goes wild, shouts for his people. No one knows anything, though Rosario and Dominga both look with suspicion at María -- why is she dressed at this hour?
Rosario gets an earful of María's venom against Montserrat. Dominga explains afterward that María is the daughter of the late capataz and she has always been in love with Alejandro.
Juventino tells María not to worry, by now Montse is probably already dead.
Juventino seemingly follows Alejandro's orders and then manages to slip off to the shack where Montse waits. She is shocked to see that he is her "rescuer" and beyond terrified when he grabs at her. He intends to make her his before he kills her.
Luckily for Montserrat, Alejandro himself appears just in time to save his bride. He must have swallowed an extra dose of stupid today, because he seems to believe Juv's improbable explanation for his compromising position.
Though Alejandro has just saved her life, Montse is anything but grateful. She doesn't want to leave with him and he has to haul her away like a side of beef.
She'd rather be dead than live with Alejandro! She screams that José Luis is going to come for her. Alejo can't control himself anymore. JOSÉ LUIS IS DEAD! he shouts at her. She is devastated.
Alejandro tells Juventino to watch Montserrat's every move and to make sure she goes nowhere. As for him, one more screw-up and Juv is out on his ear!
Back in Aguazul, Dim has a late-night conversation with his mother, the latter looking almost human without her heavy make up and a bathrobe over what is surely an interesting night dress. He gives her the bracelet that Esmeralda threw back in his face earlier and she is delighted. They talk about poor Josefina and how she is smitten with Dimitrio. Can't mommy help get rid of the beast for him?
Victor reports by phone to Alejandro that he has hired a new capataz who will be at the hacienda in a few hours.
JL and Refugio make it back to Aguazul and La Escondida. Refugio can't forgive Esmeralda but JL, ever the pragmatist, wastes no time in sentimentalism. What can she tell him about Montse? Montse is in Alejo's hacienda, not three hours from town.
The boys take off on foot, following the railroad tracks and avoiding the main road.
The new capataz, Antonio Olivares, sets off in his camioneta for the hacienda. He is unafraid of the road assaults in the area -- he is armed!
Alejandro tells Juventino that the new capataz is on his way.
Juventino gathers his band of murderers and instructs them to ambush and kill the new guy on the road to the hacienda.
JL and Refugio, after walking for hours, are nearly dead with exhaustion. They stop to rest. They hear gun shots. They rush to investigate. They find Olivares dead. Then they notice he has a map to the Almonte hacienda. They search further and find the job offer and the man's credentials. They also find the man's gun. José Luis takes possession of it -- this guy won't need it anymore.
Up until now, JL had been planning to infiltrate the hacienda by getting hired as a worker. But now he has a better idea -- he will assume the identity of the dead man. Meet the new Antonio Olivares!
The boys set to burying the poor guy's body.
I would have enjoyed seeing Montse attempt mounting the horse, but she is a determined little gal so she made it happen. And Juvie and Maria are determined devils.
So JL has the paperwork to support his role as overseer for the hacienda, but does he have the skills to do the job? Or is he only on the ground long enough to persuade Montse to escape with him?
But I did get the AleMon drag out. Can I just say, that starting with Teresa, Rulli has grown as an actor so much. He just brought it last night--every nuance of anger, hurt, frustration. And kudos to Boyer too. The scenes with those two lately make me stop in my tracks.
Maybe it's been from watching the Sound of Music recently on TV, but for some horrid reason I kept hearing the song "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" in my head last night every time she showed up last night.(And I dislike that song might I add.) I am thrilled that Rosa is now in the house to hear the goings on. I think a "Don't mess with my son" attitude will be surfacing soon.
Mutt and Jeff again--really? How is taking that job over going to work? Ale has seen his face in that phone video Fer took, so he knows who he is. The guy going to pass himself off as a twin or something...lord, I hope not. This whole plot point has red flags all over it. Be curious to see how they pull this off.
Daisynjay
"...hauls Montserrat off like a side of beef". Yikes. That's a phrase that's going to stick with me.
I hate seeing these two scream things that each other that wound so deeply. Guess we're in for a lot more suffering though.
Happy to see that Rosario is already on to who the creeps are. Even though she doesn't know the half of it.
I am sending you healing thoughts and prayers and hope you are feeling better soon. And thanks so much for the beginning of this TN, it is very marvelous as always : )
NovelaMaven and Adriana Noel:
Thanks so much for both of your bullet points, they fill out the rest and so simply, but greatly done.
The only other thing was Refugio and Esme broke up I think. He is crazy jealous of her job, the men, etc. and she needs a man to not be jealous of the job she does. That was all.
I agree Maria and Juvie both need anvils. I can't stand the way Maria treated Rosy, like a piece of trash and my hasn't Maria turned into a shrew! She really thinks she is the lady of the manor so to speak. I too can't figure out how Ale couldn't see that Monse was about to be raped by Juvie. At least now, Monse knows she can't trust either one of them and Monse actually has something to hang over their heads.
Juvie is a murderous thug. I wonder if he thinks, well obvio, that he can kill all the capatz's that apply for the job at the hacienda. I wish Ale had booted him off the hacienda completely.
I felt so bad for Monse, almost being raped by that fruit abuser and being told her first love is dead. No wonder she spewed venom at Ale, and the look on Ale's face! He knows he done her wrong.
I am really liking Rosy. She is getting information while being shrewishly screamed at, so she at least knows what is going on there. Not a spoiler, but I think that she is going to help Monse.
Refugio and JL are a pair aren't they? I have to say this time though, although it was a dangerous thing to do, it was a good idea to go back to Aguazul and get that info from Esme. She at least had the correct info and she got to explain her side of the story to JL. He took it well I must say. It would be just their luck to come upon the murder of the new capataz but good luck for them. I wonder how JL will pull this off and what Monse's reaction will be.
JL wants to go there, pretend to be Antonio for 30 minutes, meet Montse and take her with him.
Sure, I suspect things won't be as easy once he arrives.
I don't think Ale will recognize him from the video Victor took, the faces weren't very visible; besides Ale thinks JL is dead.
But, wow, when Montse sees him!!!! I wonder about her poker face... me thinks, it's not good enough to hide such a revelation.
Lila
Really Jose Luis is going to pretend to be the new capataz when there are two of Juventino's henchman who know that they killed him.
Agreed: Maria and Juventino are doomed to some sort of awful fate. Only thing is, we're going to have to suffer through their trip to perdition.
Funniest scene: Dimi kissing Fina. LOL moments.
And, Ale seemed to do a 180 with Juvi. Instead of going his way in the woods, he turned his horse around and followed Juvi and literally caught him red handed molesting Montse. What gives?
I wonder what would happen if JL and Monse really married,he is so possesive, uncontrollable ,obsessed that one would fear for his fate.
I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. Thanks so much for a richly textured, beautifully written recap. It was engrossing to read with amazing detail. I hope you feel better very soon.
Thanks to Adriana and NovelMaven, for filling in the main points, too--and everyone for your comments.
I also wondered why Ale didn't get more suspicious of Juvie. We all know that Juvie has to stick around for plot development, but you'd think Ale would do more than scream the usual telenovela "Lárgate!" at him.
I, too, was really impressed with both Boyer and Rulli in the scene afterwards. She was really playing someone on the edge screaming, "Kill me, just kill me already!" I do wonder, though, that Ale still wants to force her to stay when she screams she hates him so much. Of course, he loves her, and I guess can't help himself, but you'd think he (Alejandro) would have too much pride and depth of character to make her stay against her will. Still, I am really enjoying them, and both actors are bringing a complexity to their characters which is engrossing and really affecting to watch, too.
Thanks again, Elna June!
I too don't know how Monse will keep a straight face upon seeing that JL is alive. She so does not have a poker face.
I too laughed when Dimmy kissed Josie and I liked how she kissed him back and took her time! So he tells Addy he wants to fake marry Josie and then tells Graceless to find some way to stop Josie from seeing him. I wish Josie would see right through Dimmy. And isn't it funny that Josie is loaded and yet Graceless can't imagine Dimmy marrying Josie???? I guess what is good for Monse, isn't good for Dimmy is it, her pampered, useless bebe.
As far as Ale goes, he was so blinded by anger that Monse left that he wasn't thinking straight or seeing straight either. I don't understand why Monse didn't tell Ale what Juvie tried to do to her and it's amazing she also didn't tell Ale who had helped her try to escape. I think that will be the thing Monse holds over Maria and Juvie's heads, especially with Maria and I believe Maria knows it too.
Also agree with Adriana Noel about Ale seeing JL's face. The only thing you could see on that video from the cell phone was Monse's head and veil, JL's face was almost completely covered. Ale won't recognize him.
Got to admire Dummy's witts a little bit, though... He asks mommy to disaprove a possible relationship officially, which will make it 100 times easier for him to explain why nobody from his family attends the "wedding".
I'm going to enjoy Finita's makeover soooo much.
It's been almost three months since Alejandro inherited. That should be adequate time to determine whether the books are out of balance and to trace where the problems are. Is he hoping to catch Juventino in the act?
Let Mons go. She's so desparately unhappy. Not a very galan thing for Ale to keep her a prisoner.
I saw that look Maria gave her uncle again at the beginning of last night's ep. I was wrong about the fake conflicted look. It looked more to me like determination or maybe sudden realization of how far she would go. We either need someone new for Victor or, as someone suggested, a Nadia hook-up. After that scene in the kitchen, I believe Maria is a budding psycho nut.
This has probably already been commented on, but tonight's ep will be airing at 2:00 Sunday morning in the L.A. area.
Nanette
Thanks for the info about the West Coast airing. I didn't know what time they were airing the TNs out there. Thanks again.
I loathe Dimdum, but the actor is doing a fantastic job. The kissing scene was really funny.
JL is a neverending font of bad ideas. Dude, remember what got you into trouble in the first place? Stumbling upon a murder victim and making yourself look guilty? Sure, do that again.
Ale needs to either let Montse go or get to work on winning her over.
Thank you so much for all of your kind wishes for my health and your comments about the show.
I just wrote a long note to post here, thanking all of you, and appreciating Adriana Noel's initiative in adding bullet points.
But Blogger ate my long message. It IS Friday the 13th, isn't it?
Special thanks to my dear Novela Maven, who wrote most of the blog at my request.
So much to talk about. I will check in later.
Thanks again, to all.
Elna June
Thank you Novela Maven and Adriana Noel for filling in the rest of the story. This was quite an episode. I am liking Rosario's character very much, especially how she has pegged Maria as a problem.
I am so glad that Alejandro didn't respond violently when Monse egged him on to hit her. NovelaMaven, ITA that Ale must have had an extra dose of stupid to believe Juventino. He obviously followed Juvie for a reason, but then nada. Oh well. Hopefully he is storing all this events up in his little brain for later.
EJ, I'm sorry it was as a result of your illness, but I love the tag team recaps. Thank you EJ, NM and AN.
Did you all know that, traditionally, sailors will not leave for a voyage on Fridays? It's supposed to be bad luck. I am not a superstitious sailor but Mr. Sharkbait will be hard pressed to cast off on a Friday.
Happy Friday the 13th!
Thank you NM and Adriana for jumping in and filling in.
Adriana, you brought up a great point about the yellow runway-runaway dress. I think it's safe to say that our gal, Montse, isn't the most practical of characters. I'm getting a little Zsa Zsa Gabor in Green Acres vibe! I wonder if, in addition to the "Taming of the Shrew" storyline, we'll also see Montse loosen up and put on some boots and jeans for gosh sakes. And how many times has she said she can't ride a horse--I'm thinking horseback lessons are in her future.
I hope that Montse and JL don't carry on under Ale's roof. This story needs to go forward and not backward. Maybe if JL pulls off the new capataz role, Montse might actually get to know him a little better and realize he's not all that. Which would be waaaaay better for Ale than her current unrealistic, idealized version of JL.
Thanks EJ, NM and Adriana! A great team effort!
You are so right about sailors and Friday the 13th. It's funny, but I don't ever remember a time in the Navy that we cast off on a Friday the 13th : )
Elna June, NovelaMaven, and Adriana Noel – Muchísimas gracias. Lovely recap and detailing. A pleasure to read.
Glad to see Refugio and Esme back (if not together) again. Loved her pointing out that he knew her career from the start and that she doesn’t want to change. Esme helps remind me that this is 2013 after all. That said, IMHO she should pursue another line of work. I must say though that she is the most clothed pole dancer I’ve seen, so she does have some standard of taste.
So Juventino has conned both Montse and Ale that he wasn’t about to rape her? Surely, Montse will be wary of him from now on.
I’ve never seen AR, but I had a feeling when they brought on the grungy, sweaty look for JL that he would wind up as capataz. Ale and JL are both decent men (if one forgets Ale’s marital rape as the writers seem to want Viewerville to do), so I’m wondering how they’ll get along before it hits the fan.
---
"Ale needs to either let Montse go or get to work on winning her over."
Julia, that is what's bugging me. Ale has done nothing extra to win her over. So far Montse’s been the one to take charge of trying to make herself feel less miserable, by asking to visit the children's village and asking to have Carlota come.
EJ: Feel better soon. Thanks for what you did write and thanks also to Novela and Adriana.
I liked how Esme had the bracelet off and dangling on her finger when Dim came back to get it.
Loved Dim’s reaction to Josefina’s kisses.
Like when the actresses in these TNs go without the makeup when they are in bed/getting ready to go to bed, etc. Lucero did the same thing in MEPS.
Mons is going to believe that Ale lied re: J-L when he shows up.
The scene between Ale and Mons was intense. Also, Mons breaking down afterwards and blaming herself for J-L’s death. These actors are amazing.
Maria is delusional about Ale returning her love. But I can kind of see it. Lots of Hollywood romcoms have the same situation where the hero ends up falling in love with his best friend/almost like a sister.
UA: I was thinking the same thing about J-L trying to pass himself off as the capitaz in the electronic age.
Also, thanks to those AR people for not letting the J-L as capitaz plot point out.
Daisy: I agree that Rosario is going to become mother lioness to her son once she gets acclimated to being out of prison.
Mons won’t trust Juvie now for sure. That is the second time he’s lied about a situation he was caught in with Mons right in front of her.
Katy: I like your idea of J-L staying so that Mons can really get to know him and see that Ale is really the man for her.
From yesterday:
AuntyAnn: my first novela was Manaña Es Para Siempre. My co-worker (some of you remember Flaco, I’m sure) kept going on and on about it, so I started watching about six weeks in. I discovered this site during my second TN: Soy tu Dueña. There was a scene early on where Ivana got a text message from Val’s fiancé and I wanted to know what it said. My friend was watching the same TN, but didn’t see that episode so I did a search for “English translation for text message Ivana got from Alonso in Soy tu Dueña” thinking it was shot in the dark. One of the best days of my life, when I found this site. No. Seriously.
Once upon a time Friday the 13th was considered lucky. That’s how I view it. It’s going to be a lucky day. Maybe I should buy a mega millions lottery ticket.
Nanette
I do agree with y'all that Ale hasn't done much to win over Monse. Of course from his perspective it is probably hopeless.
I've been on many deployments where we cast off on a Friday and returned on a Friday. They always had bananas too in the Galley or the Mess Decks (eating area) on regular Fridays. I never heard the banana superstition before : )
We had a CO (Commanding Officer) that had a parrot aboard, it was the Ship's Mascot, and this CO was really into pirates, Arggggghhhh
Sebastian Rulli wears a B cup and he has too much botox in his forehead. I wouldn't kick him out of bed unless Eduardo Ynez is available, but these are the things that concern me about him.
Cynderella
He's an amazing actor and gets better with every series he's in.
I find him very handsome. His head is kind of big, though
Sebastian Rulli has a very alpha-male face, which most women find attractive. Look at all the leading men and you'll see they all have at least most of the correct alpha features.
But I like Rulli too- but it's his smile that gets me every time.
Daisynjay
High forehead
Prominent brow
High cheekbones
Strong jawline
Strong chin (cannot recede)
Decisive-looking mouth (lips can't be too full)
Medium to large nose (profile view) but should be thin to medium in full face view
Optional features:
Cleft chin
Squared chin
Vertical dimples
Facial hair optional, but it has to look good. Full head of hair mandatory for leading men.
I just had the chance to savor again what you wrote. It is simply splendid. It feels like the kind of novel that you pick up and simply can't stop reading. You make me see these people with greater clarity than any HD television could ever manage.
Thank you so much.
And thanks again, Adriana, for contributing to this tag team effort.
I'm glad I'm watching this with all of you folks. Left to my own devices, I would probably back away from it. There is so much to loathe and little to love right now. But there is so much to love in this community that I simply can't stay away. You are the best!
I also can't believe Ale is going to believe Juvie's b.s. about Monse freaking out just because he was trying to take her back to the hacienda. His instincts told him Juvie was up to no good, and that's why he followed him (thank goodness). But now he's going to put this perv in charge of watching over his wife?! Aside from the rape (which the writers would us to forget), this is his dumbest move yet.
The bedroom scene was very good. Monse becoming even more physically and verbally aggressive than Ale made him back down.
Dim actually had a bright idea, convincing Gracie to smack down Fina, so that he can convince her to "marry" him secretly. Poor Fina!
After the assault and murder of Antonio last night I was flooded with memories of AR and not in a good way.
I don't like at all what they're doing with María's character... it just all seems ... so wrong. Well, at least I'm not at all disappointed with Josefina, at least with Verónica Jaspeado's acting.
Carlos
I guess when the opening credits list Grettel Valdez as the antagónica, they aren't kidding around. She is wicked. [Not be be confused with wicked good -- though come to think of it, she is wicked good…at being wicked.]
Anyway, time to forget the Matilde vibes. Or maybe we need to think of María as Matilde's evil twin...
He obviously only kept Juvenpervo on the payroll because of Maria, but he hasn't seen the pervy intent this slimeball has toward her.
"Checking in from sunny, cold Stockholm."
You crazy kids! Such an adventure! I hope you'll tell us a little about it when you get back.
If you look at the recap again, you'll see that in addition to EJ's brilliant exposition, there are now brief plot synopses by Adriana and me. So no need to feel that real life is getting in the way of keeping up with your imaginary friends. :)
Enjoy!
However, had to say, YAY, Nanette is back with her HPLP lists.
Nanette--I hope you realize that there will be far more LP's than HP's for a good long time.
Anita
I'm really liking this TN (except for a few beanie moments). It's not as good as Amor Bravio--my fav, but it just might end up tying for second with CME.
Thanks UA for the alpha male info. I'm going to start studying the faces of men I know and see how they stack up
Sean Connery
Pierce Brosnan
Timothy Dalton
Marcello Mastroianni
Fabio Lanzoni
Oskar Werner
Anton Diffring
Clark Gable
Errol Flynn
Ricardo Montalban
Clint Eastwood
Paul Newman
Denzel Washington
Blair Underwood
Cesar Evora
Jorge Salinas
Fernando Colunga
Eduardo Santamarina
There are many more...
UA, thank you for describing the alpha male looks. That is very interesting. I wonder how much charisma can fill in for or exceed the traditional alpha male looks? There is a lot to be said for charisma too. But I can't think of anyone at the moment that would support my theory of charisma over classic alpha male looks.
Julia, you made an excellent point about JL finding the body of the capataz: "Dude, remember what got you into trouble in the first place? Stumbling upon a murder victim and making yourself look guilty? Sure, do that again." The guy just doesn't think and he clearly does not learn. It will be very interesting if/when JL and Alejandro work together and Monse gets to do a side-by-side comparison.
Talking about charisma...
A charismatic man needs a following, people to fall to his charm. An alpha man can be overpowering, but unlikable at the same time.
You can't fight someone's charisma, you can fight his alpha-ness (is this a word?)
At least that's the way I see it, I even remember studying it while I was a student. One of my Advertising classes talked about the power of image and how we perceive famous people - charisma was one of the factors.
A lot of world leaders have been/ are charismatic. Hitler was one of them.
Seriously, that's how he managed to lead an entire army and start a war. At least that's what they teach us at school in Europe :)
Thanks for the list UA: love seeing my sentimental fav actor Errol Flynn on there. A girl of 16 fell in love with the movies 40 years ago because of a man named Errol Flynn and a character named Captain Blood. Some of your choices I find handsome/attractive, but I'm not necessarily attracted to them. Denzel Washington has always been a puzzle to me--attractiveness-wise. Taken separately, his features are not very attractive, but put them together and he is (my opinion). A few more opinions: I find Sean Connery more attractive the older he gets. Blair Underwood is too pretty for me.
I am stamp ding in the line if those who cannot believe that Ale did not immediately force Juv off the property? It was dark in that shack . Could Ale possibly not have actually seen what Juv was doing to Money ?
The actress playing Rosario is doing a good job , and she has big shoes to fill. Ana Martin was wonderful in the role.
I am always amazed that the novela actresses who usually wear heavy makeup are willing to play scenes without the makeup. Yikes
OT....For now, custody arrangements remain as they are . He gets them every other weekend. However, there will be a hearing in Jan., and we are hoping nothing changes and he gives up. The lawyers are making a fortune on both, and it's still not over. He was supposed to go to anger management sessions and told them that he had done an online "thing." Guess what...the master did not buy that. HA. He has to go to office sessions. Luckily, the same master has been at all the meetings so far, and hopefully , he has a brain and a heart, but who knows. I hope that he has this guy's number, but you never know. The master is male, and so he may lean towards the father. Anyway, I appreciate all the thoughts and the positive vibrations you sent into the universe on our behalf. I am glad that I did not realize that it was Friday 13 . The day was tense enough as it was. However, we did have the pleasure of a first grade Christmas assembly this afternoon and dinner at the local dairy farm/store. Life moves forward. Planning Christmas now. Yay
Nanette, Captain Blood...me too!!! Then I loved Errol Flynn in The Prince and the Pauper and of course Robin Hood. Such a talented actor but quite a naughty man in real life.

As for the role that charisma takes in the attractiveness equation, I have thought guys were attractive...until I got to know them. On the other hand, I have met guys who were not attractive in my eyes at first impression, but as I got to know them, their sense of humor, kindness, or charisma made them more and more attractive.
I love the movie Dear Frankie!! I absolutely fell in love with Gerard Butler in that movie. Oh my, that movie made me cry.
There are a few opera singers who also make the list:
Jonas Kaufmann
Juan Diego Florez
Placido Domingo
Stefan Kocan
John Relyea
Ildar Abdrazakov
Thomas Hampson
Simon Keenlyside...
Anita, want to add to that?
How about Mario Lanza? He sure was handsome in his prime. I just heard a recording of him today (on Fresh Air); that guy sure had a set of pipes.
Robert DeNiro
Richard Burton
Christopher Lee
Keith Michell
Chris Noth (who has a secret twin in the novela world)
So sorry to hear that you are not well. I hope that you feel better soon. Also, thanks for the recap. As always you delighted us with your writing expertise.
I shout out to NovelaMaven and Adriana for adding the second half of the recap. Way to go!
ITA with everyone about Ale believing Juvie's stupid story. Seriously? Ale walked into that shack and told Juvie to get his hands off his wife. What did he think Juvie was gonna do? Take Montse by the hand, and walk her back to the hacienda? Put your thinking cap on Ale. My guess is that the writers want Ale and Montse be at opposite ends for a while; but how much longer? I don't know how much I can take.
I also agree that Ale has done NOTHING to redeem himself. His bad attitude is just adding more fuel to the fire. Of course, the more intense that fire gets, the hotter Ale's attraction grows for Montse.
I can't believe that JL is gonna go and try to be the capataz. So, what, is Vic not coming back to the hacienda, ever? It can only last for a while. I guess JL figures he will stay long enough to get Montse out of there. Can you imagine if he has to stay? Will he and Montse be together while Ale is down the hallway. I hope not, because that might drive Ale into Maria's open arms. And speaking of Maria...ShutUpMaria! OMG, she is horrible. I can't believe she actually agreed to have her uncle kill Montse. Where's the anvil?
Awkward kiss between Dimibrow and Fina. Don't marry him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UA: Thanks for the list describing the features of an alpha male.
Nanette:
I too watched Manana Es Para Siempre. My first TN was back in the late 1980's I think. It was called "Topacio"
Back to Work...Hasta pronto!
I guess I just wanted to share with my Caray friends and tell you how much I appreciate you. Life is indeeed short. I can't tell you how much I look forward to the recaps but I must pass today and will catch up on the recaps tomorrow. Bless all of you.
Diana
What a heart-breaking situation. Your presence here is treasured and we notice when you miss a day, so I am glad you stopped by. My thoughts are with you tonight.
Thank goodness for small favors. And once again -- how lucky it is that your daughter has such a strong family to support her through all this.
I don't know if anyone else sees the similarity, but Jose Luis and Refugio remind me of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza with their hilarious, constant ineptitude in their search for the beloved Monserrat.
Your friend is lucky to have you, especially at this time of year.
" A poet once this sentence penned
A man is rich who has a friend,
I read it , and I thought how true,
He must have had a friend like you."
So sorry to hear of your friends loss. I know what it's like to lose a family member at this time of year. My grandfather passed on December 20th, which is also my uncles (his father) birthday. Since he passed more than 20 years ago, my uncle can not celebrate his birthday on the 20th. Life continues, and while difficult, we learn to deal with the loss one day at a time. Thoughts and prayers go out to you, your friend and her family.
Susanlynn:
Happy for the good news about your daughter on this Friday the 13th. Sending positive vibes for the next hearing in January.
I am glad you were able to be there for your friend, but I also know how you pour yourself out for others, always affirming, listening, caring. May all that you do for others bless them and bless you doubly.
I never forgot one card I received after my father's death. It said:
"We have loved the stars too much to be fearful of the night"
For some reason, that was a great comfort to me. Just know that we all love you and are sending you thoughts of strength and caring to share with your friend in her loss...
I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I will be sending you many hugs and prayers for you both. May Dios Bless You!
God bless you and I so appreciate your prayers and good thoughts. You are all very special to me.

Part 1 of 2
Dim runs after Josefina, convinces her with a kiss that he can't quite manage without making a face (which she doesn't see because her eyes are closed) that he does love her.
