Mentir Para Vivir #41 Tue 12/3/13 Now Is Not the Time For Snacking, Berto! Focus!

Blue Bungalow Kitchen: At the refrigerator, Berto grabs Celio from behind and slams his head into the wall. Celio lands face down on the floor, but Berto flips him over so that Celio can easily identify his blue-eyed perpetrator in the possible police line . Anyways, terrified Celio lies helplessly, staring vacantly into Berto's face and sh*tting cement blocks. Understandably, throttling butlers can burn a lot of energy, and since the refrigerator door is wide open, Berto reviews his snack options. He spies a paper bag filled with what could to be some delicious Bolo Bar leftovers, but instead of ribs and slaw, he discovers the guns. He runs away, leaving Celio lying in a halo of his blood.

Apparently, a grown man, sprinting down the street and across a parking lot, in the dark, dressed in all black and wearing black gloves is not an oddity in Mexico. Berto runs to a dumpster and tosses his gloves, but keeps the mask since it's hiding the bag. He calls Jose Luis and lets him know that he’s got the guns. Jose Luis tells him to bring them to the Platina Hotel. They'll meet up later. Berto wants to return to the Casa Bonita, shower and change into something more comfortable and less IJustMuggedSomeOne-ish looking.

Paloma’s Mansion: Paloma embraces Oriana and asks her to return to the mansion. Jose Luis can move into with her. She needs Oriana and Rhodalina; their constant lies and deceptions have bought immeasurable joy to her life. Why just yesterday, I was telling the staff how much I miss Rhodalina's daily attempts on my life. Oriana's not convinced. She informs Paloma that she and Alina are moving in with Jose Luis tomorrow. Oriana reminds Paloma that she is wanted for smuggling and for murder and EVERYBODY knows it. Paloma wants to bribe them all. Everyone has a price she says, even Jose Luis. Oriana promises that she and Rhodalina will visit everyday. Ricky is waiting for Oriana in the living room. She relays her conversation with Paloma. He tells her that Paloma could have adopted her and Rhodalina because she felt guilty about Inez and Palomita. This does nothing to assuage her guilt. He inches closer in order to get his craved smoochie and tells her how much he loves and misses her. She tells him that their love is impossible, but he won’t accept it. He offers to take her back to the hotel.

Outside of the Casa Bonita hotel, Ricky wants to know if Oriana will have hot nasty animal sweaty sex with Jose Luis. Of course not, unless he accidentally rolls over on me when we're lying in bed. What if he forces you? Jose Luis won't force her because he is a good man. Anyways, she tells Ricky that she doesn't want to discuss it anymore. Oriana notices a brand new car sitting in the driveway. Per Raquel, it turns out Jose Luis has taken Joaquin’s advice about females and bought Oriana a new car. Oriana doesn’t want it cuz it's not not a Benz. The truth is finally out! Paloma would have bought me a Benz, she says. Ricky asks why she is going to accept a car from Jose Luis when she wouldn't accept one from Paloma. Oriana tosses the keys to Raquel and tells her that the car is hers. Wasting no time, Raquel hurries off to drive her new car. Ricky and Lucina agree to meet in morning to exchange the guns. Fidelia calls Ricky to alert him that his house was robbed and Celio is in the hospital. He hurries off.

In the hospital lobby, Marilu puts the moves on Rick by holding his hands a little longer than she should. His mind is elsewhere; he doesn't seem to notice. According to Marilu, Celio has a contusion with bleeding on the brain and will need an operation or he could die. Two detectives interrupt their conversation. They want to know if Celio had any enemies. They tell Ricky to go home and contaminate the crime scene. Inform them immediately if anything is missing.

Across town, at the Rich Folks Hotel, Berto nervously asks Lila if she will do him a little favor. Can you watch my box of guns while I run some errands? Lila doesn't seem to thrilled about keeping guns around. Well, at least put them in the hotel safe for me! Gosh, she's just so selfish! He's always looking out his sister and she does nothing for him! If it wasn't for him, she would be destitute! He explains that he murdered her husband with the big gun and the other proves that Rhodalina is innocent. He did it for her because he she would have been left penniless if Gabriel had divorced her. So, you owe me one BIG TIME! Well, now Lila says that she feels dumb...she kinda sorta suspected it was him. I don't want to be your accomplice, she says tearfully. He says that she won't. If anyone looks in the box, just act surprised. Say you never looked in the box. Problem solved.

Ricky returns home and immediately checks his prized Rolex and cuff link collection. They're all still there. Whew! If not my watches, what did the thief want? He wanders around...thinking hard. Finally, he runs to the fridge and discovers that the guns are missing. He calls Lucina and tells her that the guns are gone and he doesn’t know who could have stole them. Hey, he's pretty...give him a break! He used all of his brain power trying to figure out what the thief wanted. Lucina says she can't meet with Manolo if she doesn't have the guns.

At the Platina Hotel, dressed in his only suit, Berto walks into Jose Luis room and goes straight for the libations. Jose Luis demands the guns. Berto takes a big gulp of vodka and flops down on one of the chairs. He says that he's not giving Jose Luis the guns because he will give them to Oriana. He suspects that Jose Luis will kill him once he has the guns. Jose Luis freaks out when Berto refers to himself as Jose Luis’ friend. Jose Luis says that he no longer needs the guns because his wife and child are moving in with him tomorrow. Jose Luis tells Berto to leave. Berto threatens to give the guns to Ricky. He tosses Berto from the room. Jose Luis’ henchman appears from the shadows; he’s heard everything. Jose Luis order him to get the guns and then make sure that Berto swims with the fishes. Eliseo is in a snit. He sits down and tells Jose Luis that he knows that Jose Luis was bad-mouthing him to Joaquin. Jose Luis tells him that Joaquin says  he now knows that Eliseo can't be trusted. If Eliseo blabbed his bidness, then he can't keep his mouth shut. Jose Luis tells him that Joaquin wonders why Jose Luis didn't make Eliseo dead. Eliseo doesn't believe him. Jose Luis tells him that he is getting another chance and tosses Eliseo out of the hotel room as well.

Back in the hospital lobby, Ricky wakes up Marilu and asks about Celio. Her response is interrupted by Fedelia who has called to check on the butler. Ricky wants to know who found Celio and how the thief got in. Fermin found him and he went through the front door. While Ricky talks with Fedelia, Marilu decides to try a direct hint approach with him. While he was on the phone, she somehow managed to change into a negligee (which is unnerving to the hospital staff and visitors) and hits on him again. Once again, her flirtation attempt flies right over his head. The operation was successful, Celio is resting. He tells her to go home, but she will stay. Later, Ricky calls Piero. Piero suspects that the thief could be Berto (well, duh!). The light finally comes on for Pretty Ricky! That's why my watches and my cuff links weren't touched! The only problem with the Berto angle is that Berto doesn't know where he lives. Piero further confuses Pretty Ricky when he suggests that Benigno could have also been the culprit. Ricky, thinking again, discounts this. Benigno didn't know about the guns! Only Berto did! Piero tells Ricky that Benigno had him charged with rape. The sheriffs department served him. Ricky tells him to tell the lawyer to get a DNA sample from Sebastian with a quickness.

In the Aresti Mansion Foyer, Piero calls Fabiola to check up on her. He tells her that she's a strong woman and one day she'll get over having been brutally raped. Anyways, I'm calling to hit on you cause, I'm horny and sex abuse victims are always interested in dating shortly after being victimized. He asks her to call him Piero and not Mr. Piero. You're 18 now and age ain't nothing but a number, baby! He gives her his phone number in case "she needs anything" like a chocolate covered Piero. She gives him hers. Right after she hangs up, Cesar and Ruben stroll in. Fabiola asks her father to come home. Later, Matilde appears in the foyer and greets her son warmly. She invites him to go see Paloma with her. When he asks his father to come along, Matilde objects because Ruben lives with his lover at the hotel. Cesar tells her that it’s not true. She calls Lucina a tramp, but Cesar defends her. The two are just friends. Cesar declares that he’s a grown man and they are leaving if his father is not welcome there. Matilde calls Lucina a hooker. Well, she can't be a good one, because that hooker turned me down, says Ruben.  I wanted to hit that, but she said that we had to stay straight homies! The men leave. Matilde grabs her daughter and yells at her for not taking her side. Matilde calls Fabiola, useless and weak. Fabiola says that Matilde made her that way. Matilde smacks her.

At the Casa Bonita Hotel, Rhodalina is chastising Tito for not attacking her enemies on command. She also doesn't appreciate him trying to bite the teddy bear that her daddy bought her.

Ricky calls and begs Oriana not to move in with Jose Luis. He tells her to call him when she can't take it anymore and says that he loves her. After they hang up, Oriana tells Lucina her problems. Lucina tells her not to do it. Oriana will move because Alina is happy. Lucina tells Oriana to run to Paloma when Jose Luis starts acting crazy. Paloma will be able to protect her with her money and influence.

Back at in the hospital lobby, desperate Marilu who is now completely naked, tells Ricky that she had coffee with Berto. She secretly hopes that Ricky is jealous. She asks if it's OK. Again, Ricky doesn't get it. Ricky wants to know what they talked about. Someone please fill in this conversation. My cc's went out.

The next day, the Casa Bonita staff and hotel guests say goodbye to Rhodalina and Oriana. Raquel tells Oriana that she can't take the car, it wouldn't be right. Oriana doesn't want the car and Raquel is thrilled. Lucina will not allow her to have it and says that they will discuss it with Jose Luis. Rhodalina is thrilled to bits to be moving in with her father. After school, Jose Luis will pick up their luggage and they will move into there new home. After everyone leaves, Felipe and Lucina search Berto’s room for the guns.

Eliseo returns and tells Jose Luis that Berto stayed at the Platina Hotel last night. Jose Luis deduces that Lila is staying there. He tells Eliseo to search her room. Eliseo says that the room is guarded like Fort Knox. Jose Luis wrestles petite Eliseo out of the room and tells him not to come back without those guns.

The doctor clears Celio for visitors. Once the doctors leaves, Ricky tells Celio that his Rolex and cuff link collection are safe. Whew! He tells the butler not to mention the guns; they don't want the cops to know how dumb they were for putting them next to the mayonnaise.

Back at Aresti mansion, Paloma is looking at her Palomita's necklace. Nadia the maid delivers orange juice to Paloma. Nadia wants to know what to do with Inez and Rhodalina's stuff. Paloma tells her not to touch a thing. They'll be back as soon as the crazy kicks in.

At Jose Luis’ new Family Home, three maids and a butler carry the luggage into the house. Jose Luise blocks Tito from entering the house. He doesn’t want dirty mangy dogging paws scratching his good wood floors. He only allows Tito to enter when Oriana insists. After Rhodalina and Tito run into the house, Jose Luis wants to give Oriana a new cell phone. When she refuses, he tries to reach into her bag and take hers. He doesn't want anyone who has hurt her to have access to her. She points out that he is the only one who has ever put her in danger. He apologizes and attempts to move in for a hug. She flinches and hurries into the house.

Thanks in advance for reading the recap. I'll try to chime in throughout the day.

Great work, Cynderella.

The bit you missed was Marilu cluelessly admitting that she told Berto about Ricky's habits and living arrangements. Surprisingly, Ricky didn't rip her a new one after this admission.

I'm so glad Cielo is ok. Now we're playing a game of hot potatoe with the guns. I can't decide who I prefer least to have the gun- Berto or JL. Both men have framed Ori for a crime they committed. And both want to wield control over her and others, by controlling the evidence.

When Our asked JA if he wants to keep her a prisoner, I yelled out, yes! That's exactly what he's trying to do. What do you want to bet that he has put some sort of tracking device in the phone and/or car, and that he will not be pleased about her plans to work.

Hilarious recap, Cynderella, you never miss a beat.

Oriana doesn't want to go back to JL, but she keeps defending him by saying that he might be a criminal, but he's not violent. So what if JL really tries to harm her down the line and that will be her cue to leave him? I can't see him actually harming Alina, he genuinly loves her.

So far Ori doesn't have any reason to believe JL would be violent with her or force her to make love to him. In fact, Ricky has been more agressive in the way he grabs her and gets in her personal space. But JL is a smooth operator, and before she knows it, JL will have her trapped in a gilded cage.

Great job Cynderella, you always make me laugh, this especially: Berto wants to change into something more comfortable and less IJustMuggedSomeOne-ish looking.

All TNs enter a phase where I hate what's happening and don't want to watch it. This is the time for this show. I don't want to see the bad guys winning and they are right now. JL got Oriana to live with him and Berto got the guns.

Please, please don't let Piero have a thing for Fabiola. I'm crossing my fingers.

Vivi, I thought the same thing. He's put a tracking device on the phone. I didn't think about the car. That would be ingenious! I think the gun is better with Berto. He just wants money. JL wants to dominate her.

OK, so far, I don't understand why Raquel is the villain. For the last few episodes, she's only averaged a minute of screen time. Hopefully, she'll start doing something to make me hate her soon. So far, she's just a jealous bitch, but then...so is Ricky.

Adriana, if people are mistaking your recaps for mine, you might need some grammar and writing lessons soon. (Smile)

CathyX, of course he has the hots for Fabiola. He called her on her home phone. He already knew how to get in touch with her. Why does he need her personal information. Why does she need to stop calling him Mr. He's going to be hitting that soon. You mark my words. Not a spoiler, just a guess.

OK, so back to the episode. I would have never looked in the refrigerator and thought a bag looked suspicious. I would have thought...hmmmm leftovers. To me, that scene was stupid. He found the gun immediately.

I don't like Marilu...she bugs me and I don't know why. I think she acts tooooooo sweet.

If I hear Oriana say that "por mi hija" one more time, I am going to find a roof and jump.

OK, I liked the scene where Berto tells Lila that he killed Gabriel. How could she NOT know that her brother was the one who killed Gabriel? He practically told her when he said that Ricky took his gun.

P.S. I forgot to include that JL said that Rhodalina was spoiled in the recap.

OK, I'm done.

P.S. I know that I write mean things about Ricky in the recaps, but I actually like him.

I even like Matilde. I think that she's right, she just states her case the wrong way and acts crazy.

Ruben has started to earn some respect from me by finally leaving the wife he doesn't love, and getting a job. To complete his redemption in my eyes, he now needs to buy/rent a home, and move his kids in with him. Poor Fabi was breaking my heart, she's so sad and lonely.

Cynderella - Fine recap. My favorites:

"She needs Oriana and Rhodalina; their constant lies and deceptions have bought unmeasurable joy to her life."

"he doesn’t know who could have stole them. Hey, he's pretty...give him a break!"

Finally we know what it takes for Berto to take a bath. So glad Celio will be okay.

Maybe Tito will turn out to be the secret weapon that opens Alina's eyes about her dad's dark side. Where did JL think the dog would go? I didn't see a fence.

Agree Ori's trust of JL not being violent is realistic. I like that she is onto his attempts to control her calls and made him back down about Tito. She needs a car though.

Niecie, I'm thinking that we wouldn't need to see a fence because the house is big enough for 3 maids and a butler. Maybe the fence was out of view.

Vivi, I don't like Ruben. He said his wife didn't start acting up until he lost his business. So, at that point, he should have got another job rather than living off of Paloma. I would have lost respect for my husband if he wasn't TRYING to find a way to support the family and was simply mooching off of my aunt.

Hi Gang!

Unfortunately I wasn't yesterday, because I had to read and solve many case studies. It took a long time.

But now I read your recaps (Adriana and Cyndarella), and smiled a lot. Great jobs.

My remarks:

Pasado (cap40): I loved Lucina's presence with the baseball bat, at first I believed it is a rolling pin. :D Raquel sure enjoyed the fight between the Kung-Fu masters. I love blondie bitch.

P. Ricky's tantrum starts to be too many for me, but therefore is here Mariano, who had to call Ricky down. I think Ricky has to learn changing his style for the end of MPV. I love when Mariano push Ricky to the wall.

I totally understand Paloma's desire, she doesn't want to kick out Ori and Lina, she loved them. We know that she is a gran mujer, but now it has proved even more. I loved Ricky micro-smile/pulling away his mouth a bit, he was satisfied. I like Palomas as Carlota in LFDD.

Present (cap41) What a stupid place for a pistole: the fridge. Why isn't it good in Ricky's safe in his office? And just Celio had to go for a Cappy, when Berto was in the bungalow. Unfortunate situation. And the pistole is in bad hands
It was so strange Berto searched the gun in the fridge, because he saw a paperbag.

What a surprise: Berto was the killer, we suspected him.

For me it is not impossible that Piero and Fabi will be a pair. I like odd pairs for instance: Gabriel Soto and Daniela Romo in Sortilegio. Piero is a good guy, just a bit gawky. I would like if he will find her lovemate. He is a divorced man, like in Camilo LFDD, we have sever seen his wife, only have heard from her.

A bad omen is JL took away the mobile phone from Oriana. This man has double-face: an angel and a devil.

Cynd: " If I hear Oriana say that "por mi hija" one more time, I am going to find a roof and jump. "
--> ITA with you, Me too.

And who is the main villain. I can't even call Raquel as an antagonist, because she has a new target, who isn't Ricky.
Matilde? Too conservative, she had bad moments, but she is not so terrible.
Lila? She is only ambitious, and she has a little role.
But I like this, because there aren't serial killers, who can do everything without penalty for a long time. It is closer to life.

Cynderella, I'm in 100% agreement. What's more, Mati has every right as his wife to wonder why it is he is hanging around the buxom hotelier all the time, and why he goes to events hosted by the buxom hotelier w/o taking his wife!

Any red-blooded woman would think the same. The buxom hotelier, who leans her bosoms into him and touches him while she talks to him, is a THREAT! No question about it.

What's more, the buxom hotelier defrauded granny. Lock her up!

Thanks, Cynderella...again I was sneaking this in at work and uvideos kept dragging on my phone and givng me headaches. Your detailed recap was a life saver.

Thanks Cynderella, what a tasty naughty treat. The first paragraph about Berto poking around in the fridge is hilarious and I think pretty much dead on as well.

And this:

"She needs Oriana and Rhodalina; their constant lies and deceptions have bought immeasurable joy to her life."

pretty much nails the truth as well.

Thank you for opening our eyes to the reality of the treacherous little Rhodalina.

"Anyways, I'm calling to hit on you cause, I'm horny and sex abuse victims are always interested in dating shortly after being victimized."

I'm afraid that you have called this all too correctly.

So the one to expose JL as the less than perfect daddy will be the perceptive dog, Tito? Unless of course... suddenly... gone! I'm guessing that JL may be more adept at making dogs disappear than Matilde is.

Carlos

OMG Cynderela, you are hilarious. I totally agree. The part about finding the guns in the fridge was stupid. Why should Berto think all brown paper bags in Refrigeraters contain guns. Madhilde has never been my favorite person. I agree all 20th century teens need boundaries, but to slap her for voicing an opinion is too much. No wonder the chocolate covered Pieros of the world pounce. Poor kid.

Hanna

Thank you Hannah! I appreciate it. That slap may send Fabiola straight onto Rebellion Avenue.

Thanks Carlos. I just couldn't believe that someone could look at a bag and think...there's a gun in there. Whatever.

Thanks Sara, I'm glad that I could help ya out.

AlejoP: Yeah, I don't get Raquel's purpose on the show yet. Her only job is to boink the men...maybe she will evolve or something.

Reality: in the real world, I would agree with you about Lucina. She has to serve her time for the crime. But, in telenovela world, we can go a little easy on her. Also, shouldn't granny be asking for a refund from the detective? Basically, he took a hair sample that was handed to him without seeing it plucked from the head and rushed it to the lab. All he knew was that the hair belonged to a RELATIVE of Paloma. He never established which relative or where the hair was plucked from. Maybe I'm over thinking things.

I somehow missed how Alina got the nickname Rhodalina. Will someone please explain? I love these episode summaries. They are hilarious!

Hanna
If Ric hadn't taken the guns out of the locked, safe, safe at the office, how could Berto have gotten them? We must keep the TN plot going.

I haven't watched yet, but JL tried to bar Tito!, he really is a scumbag, that proves it. He & Madhilde belong together.

@Anonymous Wed Dec 04, 06:13:00 PM EST

"I somehow missed how Alina got the nickname Rhodalina. Will someone please explain?"

Hi Anon, I will elaborate on that for ya!

If you recall in episode one, Alina "appeared" to have shot and killed Gabriel. Now, although I can say that I have never ever doubted her innocence, an evil recapper in episode two compared that poor innocent little creature to Rhoda Penmark (The BAD SEED) because she had caused all that trouble for her mother. I on the other hand do not recall or more like I refuse to identify the dirty recapper because I don't want to embarrass him or her. (I'm looking at you Carlos and Vivi).

OK, so because the rotten, rush to judgment recapper ASSUMED that innocent little creature was guilty before knowing the entire story....CathyX combined the names of Rhoda and Alina and the child got that vile nick name. There...I said it and now you know the entire whole story.

Variopinta,

It's not that I don't believe that Berto would have eventually looked in the refrigerator. I question why it was the FIRST place that he looked. That place should have been tossed.

Cynderella, exactly, which is why I think granny is either loca or in the early stages of dementia. If she were my granny, this would be the precise time I'd hit her up for some walking money.

I eager await Matilde learning the truth. I hope she at least has the common sense to call the police.

"eagerly" I meant to write

Gracias, Cynderella, I was cackling evilly while reading this :D

Yeah, never put the guns next to the mayo. It's bad refrigerator Feng Shui. Berto probably felt a little cheated when he opened the bag and it wasn't leftovers from some swanky restaurant he can't afford. And once he had the guns, he really couldn't justify pilfering food out of the fridge. The most hilarious part of his outfit for me was the loafers with no socks as he was climbing over the wall.

Matilde, Matilde, Matilde...so you want the girl to show some spine, and the second she does, you try to beat it right out of her again. That's like those parents who say they want their kids to question authority..."But not MY authority!"

Having Oriana arrested would serve what purpose exactly? What damage was done? But what would be the fallout of her getting arrested? Which would be worse?

The money loaned to open the hotel was just that, a loan. Lucina and Raquel are paying it back with the hotel profits, and Paloma is a partner in a local boutique hotel. Is she losing money or is it a business investment?

Thank you very much for explaining the origin of "Rhodalina". This telenovela es fantastic!

Posting late but had to let you know how much I enjoyed your recap Cynderella. I'm sad that Piero seems to be falling for Fabi b/c of the age difference and your observation just confirmed my fears.

Vivi, It was fraudulently obtained. Remember the fake passport? Documents signed with another person's identity? Remember who initially engineered that? If granny weren't in the initial stages of dementia, she'd call the police.
