MARIDO – LUNES – Part 1 of 3

Outside Casa Palmer, in Reinaldo’s car, Ríos tells Rei that he doesn’t believe Teresa Cristina’s alibi for a minute. Plus, he’s never seen so many nutcases in one place. Ríos is convinced that she killed Marcela, and he won’t quit until he proves it. We see Fernando lurking behind a tree. He can’t hear but may guess what they’re discussing.

Idiot Ro tells Iris and Mario it was a lot easier than he expected to convince Ríos that TC was with them at the time of the murder. TC pays up. Iris blissfully smells all the money, and she and Mario leave to go SHOPPING!!

Esther is having lunch at the beach and, of course, there’s a flat screen TV right there showing Alba and all the reporters.

Juan Pablo overheats Victoria’s bottle, but thankfully has read the instructions about testing it on his hand first. Later he looks pretty professional and content giving her a bottle. And then he even successfully burps her! The happy scene is somewhat spoiled by the real baby starting to cry!

TC tells Ro that she saw it in Ríos’ eyes that he didn’t believe the alibi. But she goes on to tell him that danger excites her.

Everyone in Miami is tuned into this television broadcast with Alba. Gabriel is fussing that he doesn’t know where Juan Pablo is.

After lots of buildup, Alba is ready to speak. Apparently Shitty Richard and the rest of the reporters were waiting for Beatriz to arrive, and she has.

Alba is very eloquent and convincing. She speaks clearly into the multiple microphones. She says that her work is helping women who can’t conceive naturally. She and her husband helped thousands during their careers and treated them all in an ethical manner. She says that it’s true that in one of those cases she realized that the donor her patient selected was her deceased brother. Perhaps she made a mistake here, but the anonymity of the donor is an imperative.

Her brother died in an accident, and his dream was to have a child with his girlfriend. She goes on to say that that girlfriend, Beatriz Lobo, lived with her for a while and decided to donate her eggs to the clinic. At this point Shitty Richard, fishing for more controversy, interjects that it was Alba who convinced Beatriz to donate her eggs. Alba immediately says that’s a lie! She agreed to speak to the reporters; but, if anyone interrupts again, she’ll leave. Alba insists that Beatriz Lobo decided herself to donate her eggs.

Alba goes on to say that she never told the patient which egg and sperm she should select. But it was apparently destined to turn out that way. The patient chose the semen of her brother and the egg of the woman he loved. This embryo was implanted in a woman who had nothing to do with this story. This is the truth. Alba states that it’s true that Beatriz begged her to inseminate her with her brother’s semen, but she refused. Alba: “One way or another, this baby was destined to be born.”

MARIDO – LUNES – Part 2 of 3

Griselda and her employees are also watching. She tells Celeste, Gigante, and Quique that she is sure someone will be mean enough to show a recording of this to Victoria when she’s older.

TC is SO not interested in the press conference and switches the channel to a fashion show.

Back to Alba. She says that the embryo implantation was a success, something that is not always the case the first time. Nature apparently wanted it so. This is all that Alba has to say.

Shitty Richard says that it’s now Beatriz’ turn. He asks if she was or was not pressured to donate her eggs.

Ro has to borrow a hanky because the baby thing touches him. [TC’s victims – not so much.] Elsa (who I adore) says that Beatriz has a lot of nerve showing up wanting the baby after the hard part is over!

Shitty Richard repeats his question. Beatriz says that she was not pressured to donate. We see her remembering that Alba told her she could be inseminated with her boyfriend’s sperm some day, but they were still mourning and it would be better to wait. Bea goes on to say that Alba explained egg donation to her while they were living together, and she thought it would be a good thing to help an unknown woman to be a mother. The love of her life died, and she thought her dream had died with him.

But, Beatriz says, that was until she discovered that her dream was alive. She sobs that her baby’s name is Victoria! [We see Esther at the beach saying the child’s name in unison.] Beatriz is crying now and says she’ll confront an army of judges, if necessary. SHE is the real mother of Victoria. Shitty Richard actually looks a bit ashamed of what’s happening. We see Esther absolutely destroyed at the beach restaurant, barely able to pay the check.

We see Juan Pablo softly singing a lullaby to Victoria.

TC has another of her tiresome soliloquies in which she blames Griselda for everything that has happened to her. And for the zillionth time says that Gris has no idea what she’s capable of doing. [Well, I think she does have a pretty good idea, TC.]

I’m starting to wear out with virtually every person in the cast chiming in about the press conference. Antonio tells Pati that watching that drama caused him to realize he was a complete idiot not to have accepted their baby. But he says they’ll try again! [Finish school, first, you idiots!]

Clara and Diosa differ about what they saw. Clara says Esther is the real mother because she carried the child for 9 months. Diosa thinks biology trumps. Just then Esther calls Tacos Bar to speak with Gabe. She tells him she’s on her way back to fight for her daughter. But she lets it slip that JP is with Victoria, and Gabe is deeply hurt that she ran from him and didn’t say where she was. She tells him she loves him.

MARIDO – LUNES – Part 3 of 3

At Fashion Motors Iván is looking for Eduardo for some documents he needs. Susana blithely says that he left without saying where he was going or when he’d be back. Rafael overhears and marches up and tells Iván that Eduardo didn’t tell Susana, but he did tell other employees that he had a medical appointment on his lunch hour. After Iván leaves, Rafa lights into her for always undermining other employees. He tells her she’ll never get the job of managing the place. [I think Rafa’s playing with fire.] Susana wants to know what Rafa told Iván about her. He flat out tells her he told Iván she’s a traitor, and he didn’t even have to have proof for the boss to believe it. As his coup de grace, he tells her: “Open your eyes, Susana, you only have to look at your face to realize you’re envious and without character.”

Leo and his former trainer, whose name I’ve forgotten, are watching an intense training session Max is having. Susana shows up demanding to speak to Max. She says she’s come to talk about their marriage! Shocked, Max takes her to one side. He tells her that the two of them have no future. She raves that he’s going to leave her after all she did for him. He tells her he never promised her anything. Furthermore, the one who came up with the marriage idea was she.

Susana lights into him. She says he was on the floor, finished, and she came along to pull him up from the bottom of the pool. She got him back in the octagon. Max tells her she helped him, but the one who has put forth all the effort is he himself. When she asks where she fits in, he replies that he’ll be eternally grateful for her help, but that’s not enough for them to marry. He goes on to say that, to leave her, he would have to have been with her in the first place. He does not love her.

Ro is slumming at Tacos Bar and tells Clara that Manuel apologized to him. He sees Gris and Gabe talking and fishes for chisme about their getting back together. Diosa chimes in: not yet, but soon.

Elio is packing. He tells José that he loves Alba. José tells him he should stay away from attachments, and that he turned out more like his mother. He tries to guilt him into staying, but Elio appears to be picking up some proximity IQ points from Alba. After he leaves Barbie tells José how he’s going to end up: waking up on the beach, hung over, discovering that he’s alone, sick and old! Jose: ¡Uy Uy, me dolió!

Ro tells TC that La Ex-Bigotuda y El Rey de los Tacos are together. TC pretends no interest and sends Ro off on a fool’s errand. As soon as he’s out of earshot she calls Reinaldo and tells him its her obligation to tell him about Griselda and Gabriel being together again. She goes on to say this proves Griselda has no dignity. She barely broke up with him and is now back with her old lover. Reinaldo: “At least she had the good manners to wait until we were separated before having relations with another person. Unlike you, who, while we were together, took the fisherman to bed!" We see her outraged face and then Rei hears a dial tone.

Reinaldo is looking very sad at the restaurant. When Simón asks him what’s wrong, he replies that he thinks he’s lost Griselda forever.

Great recap, Novelera. I was so annoyed by the press conference, although like you, I thought Alba did a good job explaining herself. I was grateful to Beto for finally saying something that made sense-- the law is on Ester's side. Why were all the characters acting like artificial insemination is something new? This has been happening for many decades now. If any judge would say that Bea, who willingly donated her eggs, has a right to the child, then that means hundreds of thousands of children around the world could be claimed by their egg and sperm donors. That's ridiculous!

It does remind of the story from about 15 years ago of two couples from the Netherlands and the Dutch Antilles, respectively. The Dutch provide artificial insemination as part of its medical services and the black couple from the Antilles traveled to the Netherlands so that the wife could be inseminated with her husband's sperm. The clinic did not properly clean the equipment after doing that, and a white couple who came in so that the wife could get inseminated with her husband's sperm ended up being inseminated with the other man's sperm too. Nine months later, the black couple had their child in the Antilles, and the white couple had fraternal twins-- one white and one black. This made international news, and for a while caused a lot of grief in that family. There were accusations that the wife had been unfaithful. When the clinic's mistake was discovered, they had to contact the black couple (really the husband), and pay out a huge sum of money to the families. The father in the Antilles had to decide if he wanted to fight for rights over the mixed race child born to the other couple. It was very hard for him. Plus, he was located half a world away. In the end, he decided that the boy was the other couple's child, but he left the door open in case the child wanted to get to know him some day.

Anyway, as complicated as the Victoria case is, it's much more cut and dried than that case was.

One correction, it was Rei who hung up on TC, not the other way around. Isn't it funny how they still use the busy signal/tone to indicate when a person has hung up, when there is no such sound on a cell phone? :)

Marido

thanks so much novelera!

any chance we can move the IVF (Bea/Alba/Esther/Victoria/JP/Gabe) thingy to "Caso Cerrado"?

deb, lol! What a brilliant idea. Dra. Polo would resolve this in at least 30 min, 60 min tops with experts and all which is all the time this storyline deserves.

I've lost interest in this tn but am still watching til the end. I invested too much time to quit now. But I now care less what happens to the majority of the dumbed down characters, especially Gris and Rei, our suppose to be beloved couple. I'm more excited about a Clara/Max hookup.

Josie

Novelera, this was an excellent recap. You made it sound more entertaining than it probably was I haven't watched since Gris and Co found the lottery ticket, but have been faithfully reading the recap-or as I call it 'watch-by-recap.'I actually smiled and said 'how sweet' as you described JP taking care of Victoria. He's been a scumbag and I feel sorry for Gabe but I've always liked JP and Esther together.

That Antilles man is so more deserving of our sympathies than Bea. He handled it with so much more sensitively than most people here are capable of. If Bea hadn't gone all stalkerish, she might have been able to have some relationship with Victoria even though she's not the mother. Caso Cerrado!

And thank you for that comment about Tony! When he gave his not-much-of-an-apology about what he did to Paty and then said they'd have more, I so badly wanted her to smack him. They're in school and he will completely worthless until he's done with the residency, and then will probably still be worthless. Let Paty get her degree and work for a few years before having kids. That way when Tony cheats and blames her for being too busy/not made up enough /too tired, all because of the kids he wanted, she can dump his selfish butt and go find someone good. (I know he's getting redemption but I don't think he's there yet).

Daniel. The amigooo thing was cute at first. But you can stop now.

Kelly

Thanks for the great comments, guys. Kelly, I'm SO with you on the amigo-o-o-o thing of Daniel. I'm finding myself cringing every time I see him. It sounds almost to me like a non-Latino person making fun of Latinos the way he says it.

And, Kelly, tell us how you really feel about Tony!!

Vivi, interesting tale of a woman bearing one black and one white baby. I had heard somewhere that twins could have different fathers, which always seemed in the realm of science fiction to me.

Deb, I like your Caso Cerrado idea for the baby fight. I guess having a king start to cut Victoria in half to see who loves her the most is not going to happen.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!

THURSDAY pt. 1

Welcome back! Hope everyone had a nice, safe holiday.

TC is actually wearing jeans! And she goes out for the day.
Esther shows up back at the house and can’t find JP or the baby.

Amalia’s shop. Gris comes by to talk to her about the wedding. Gris thinks someone should walk her down the aisle, even though her father is worthless and she’s proven herself as a capable business woman and could her own dang self down the aisle. But for the sake of tradition, she needs someone and Gris suggests herself. This seems like a pretty good solution but Amalia just laughs. Kinda rude considering her mom has done everything for her. She decides instead to talk to Jose. He thanks her for thinking of him but no. The idea of giving his daughter away at a church wedding is a little old-fashioned to him. But he also thinks marriage is old-fashioned and if she wants to then fine. But he doesn’t think he should be there. It’s just the way he is. Jerkish.

She’s all sad and Barb tries to cheer her up. Sort of. Barb thinks she’s not used to being rejected since she’s the little princess, but it’s ok. She kinda knew Jose wouldn’t do it but didn’t think it’d be right not to ask. And now she’s free to ask the right person.

Susanna thinks she’s an idiot. Yep. She yells at Rafa that all this is his fault. I liked her better before she got all crazy jealous. Ivan comes in wanting to know what all the yelling was. She quits!

Restaurant. Amalia meets Paty for lunch. Rei is shocked that jose said no. There’s a little freak out when Amalia tells him that he’d right Paty down the aisle, no? She assures dad that she’s not getting married for now. Bottom line, he’s a good guy and he tells her it would be an honor to escot a daughter like her down the aisle. He’s talking hypothetical since she has two brothers. Because didn’t Kike actually have a hand in raising her? But that wouldn’t help the story. She’s always dreamed of having a father like him and he agrees to this.

Gris and Gigante back at the shop. He’s trying to calm her down because she’s all upset about her daughter’s wedding not being perfect, but Gigante tells her that Jose not walking her down the aisle is a good thing, right?

Esther’s. JP walks in the door with the baby and freaks. “How about think you”?, says JP.
Rei points out to Amalia that her mother has to agree to the whole Reinaldo thing. Next scene, Amalia asking Gris. What?? She asks about the brothers too. But Amalia is set on Rei. Gris doesn’t give her permission but Amalia knows she will, and she gets back to her shop.

Not sure what I missed, but we come back to commercial with Esther kissing JP. Whoops. He’s all confused being left with the baby and now this. She apologizes. He’s still confused. And sooo cute. Esther is in the other room talking to the baby about what’s happening. They talk about why he left and then changed her mind. She realized she was being unfair. “Really? No way?”. JP is a bit sarcastic, rightly so. Esther tries to explain herself. Bottom line is the exile is over and she’s taking Victoria back home to fight for her right to be the mother.

THURSDAY, pt.2

Rei with the cop. The evidence against TC is there but there doesn’t seem to be a way to disprove the alibi for now. Rei says everyone around has ulterior motives. They sit in a car, watch Tia Iris and Mario and talk about their motives. The cop is thinking of a way to make them mess up as they are the key to getting TC to make a mistake.

Tia Iris and Mario talk and the cop comes in. Is this legal? Apparently it is since he explains it. He’s working and they left the door open. He lets them know that he thinks they are hiding something. Mario think he was just trying to scare them about coving up a homicide. Which Paloma hears and wants to know what homicide. Then Iris orders Mario to close the dang door and Paloma wants to be left alone with her mother. Iris starts to say they were talking about a movie but Paloma isn’t stupid and wants to know what’s up. After she leave, Iris calls TC and wants to be sent back to NY. But TC thinks that would make things worse and points out that Iris is now an accomplice so she’d better keep her mouth shut.

Gris shows Kike the flyer with a blond TC. She tells Kike that she thinks TC is behind all of this. But they need evidence and that’s why she wants Kike to find the woman who drugged him. Celeste comes in with a card for a bridal shop for Amalia.

Rafa is at the shop talking to Amalia about the dress. Celeste kids him about not having a bachelor party but he’s not going to do anything stupid to lose her. Gris finally gives her blessing on Reinaldo and the aisle. Rafa says he’ll soon be the happiest husband in the world. Unhappiness alert!

JP talks to the kid and Esther catches him. He tells Esther about how he had to talk to her since no one else was around. They go back to civilization.

I had to watch online and I think this is where the show ended. Let me know if I missed something.

Kelly

Excellent work, Kelly.

So much time spent on the business of who will walk Amalia down the aisle. I hope that at least it results in something happening between Gris and Rei at the wedding. Otherwise, why all the buildup? I agree with Gris, her brothers (especially Q) or Gabe would have made more sense. But I guess the writers want Rei at that wedding, one way or another.

These writers are doing a poor job of weaving all the stories together. The Susana story feels so out of place, and I don't get why we are spending so much time with her, and yet we have hardly seen Paloma.

Looks like JP and Ester are getting closer to that eventually reconciliation. Poor Gabe.

From Urban Anthropologist:

"Alert

We're going to have a new discussion type next weekend on novelas that either didn't work at all or had some major flaws. It should be lots of fun."

I think she meant "topic" not "type."
And I think "Marido" could be Exhibit A.

¡Últimos Capítulos! Al fin.

Recap up later today, if anyone still cares. :-)

MARIDO viernes 27 de diciembre Part 1

¡Prospero Año Nuevo a todos!

Amalia and Rafa give Reinaldo the good news: Gris is on board with Reinaldo walking Amalia down the aisle. Amalia says that Gris is still resentful towards Reinaldo but she feels there is hope. Reinaldo invites the two of them to dinner at the restaurant. He wants to get to know Rafa better. The three of them sit down and he comments that it will feel complete when Gris is sitting there with them.

Esther has returned to her home with Victoria. She is putting her in the crib when the doorbell rings and she thinks it’s Gabe. ¡Sorpresa! Well it’s not a surprise to us because we know what a stalker Beatriz has become. She must have sneaked into the community somehow because Security was supposed to notify Esther of all her visitors. “I knew you would come back! Enough of trying to hide Esther!.” They argue: “She’s my biological daughter…my eggs…Guillermo’s sperm…” “You donated your eggs…the law says she’s my daughter…” Beatriz leaves to go see her and a desperate Esther grabs a chef’s knife. In the nursery they argue some more and finally Esther produces the knife. This puts the fear of Esther into Beatriz and she backs down. “Let’s go into the other room and talk.”

At quitting time Gris tells the Maridas to go home and rest because they have a lot of work to do tomorrow. She advises Deborah that if she’s behind in her work she should notify them so they can send assistance. Jethro asks Deborah if she is going to eat at his house. She says she has other plans. Gigante tells him he’s been rejected.

The food is being served and in walks TC. Simón apologizes for not being in reception when she arrived. TC says that no one can keep her from entering anyplace she wants to go. Reinaldo threatens her with the police but TC says she doesn’t fear them. “I told you that the ex-bigotuda…” Amalia warns TC not to call her mother that. “…your dear Griselda and the King of Tacos have gotten back together and this is how you celebrate?” Reinaldo tells her they are celebrating because he is going to walk Amalia down the aisle at her wedding. “What Gris does with her life is her business.” Reinaldo asks Simón to gather the staff. When they are assembled Reinaldo orders them to remove a sack of rotten potatoes that have been contaminating the restaurant. In other words, remove TC. They pick her up and carry her out of the restaurant. Reinaldo smiles and tells Amalia and Rafa that that felt really good. Oh Reinaldo, you’ve just lit a fuse that will never be put out. BTW, Rey Gourmet has the most discreet clientele. I didn’t see any of the other patrons watching that spectacle.

Beatriz sort of apologizes and says she recognizes that a mother would do anything for her child. Esther agrees. They start to calm down but things get heated again when Beatriz tells Esther she will take her to court. Esther says there is no need to take her to court because the law is on her side. The phone rings and Esther answers. It’s the reporter who broke the story and he would like an interview. Beatriz realizes who it is and yells her name to let him know she is there. Esther hangs up and informs Beatriz that she doesn’t want any reporter taking pictures of Victoria. The doorbell rings and Beatriz has the nerve to answer it. It’s Gabe and he mentions he saw the reporter at the gate. The doorbell rings again and Beatriz lets the reporter in as if she owned the place.

At Tacos Bar Clara is just doing her job when in walks Susana who declares herself Max’s girlfriend. “My son trains with Max and he’s never mentioned that Max has a girlfriend.” After some insults Susana warns her to forget Max exists. And then she calls Clara “a second-rate waitress.” TC would have called her a “fifth-rate waitress.” Clara is incensed that this stranger just comes in and starts hurling accusations at her. Diosa informs her that her name is Susana and she works at Fashion Motors and she will give her her number if she wants it. “Ah, Susana…Fashion Motors” as she starts to make the connection.

Viernes 12/27 Part 2

Mendoza the reporter maintains that he is trying to do his job. Esther and Gabe want him to leave. Beatriz starts yelling about rights. Esther starts yelling about a story that doesn’t exist. More back and forth as Esther calls Mendoza a fifth-rate sensationalistic yellow journalist. Esther finally agrees to meet with him under her conditions which are: 1. He can’t write anything about the story until after they meet and 2. She will meet with him tomorrow morning in a neutral place. She calls JP and asks if she can have the meeting at Fina Estampa. He doesn’t want his business (it’s really their business) dragged into this but because it’s about Victoria he reluctantly agrees. Beatriz asks, “What about me?” Gabe tells her she can leave right now. She begs Esther to see Victoria once more and Esther allows it. In the nursery Esther reinforces that Victoria is her daughter. “But she has my genes…and Guillermo’s.” Esther tells her to leave before she regrets letting her into the nursery.

TC returns home and complains to Ro about her treatment at the hands of the Rey Gourmet staff. “They called me a sack of potatoes! And now all I see is Reinaldo’s smile. I want to put them all on a boat and send them to the North Pole where they can freeze to death in deep water, like what happened with the Titanic.” For some reason mentioning the Titanic gives Ro the warm fuzzies. He comes to and asks TC if she would like to take a sedative. She refuses. “Things get worse when I’m calm. What I want now is to make everyone’s life miserable. Then they’ll learn they can’t be happy at my expense. Now get out of my sight. I don’t want to see anyone.”

Ro tells Manuel he has the night off. More gay innuendo…FF>>

Daniel introduces Sol to the guy who will direct her video. FF>>

Gris isn’t too happy when Amalia tells her about the dinner she and Rafa had a Rey Gourmet. To get even, Gris is going to make Amalia’s favorite, meatballs and stuffed peppers. Gris goes into the kitchen to start cooking and Amalia asks Rafa it if would be OK to eat another meal.

Reinaldo stops by the posada to see Pati but Paloma tells him she’s there but she’s not there. “She’s with Antonio.” “Ah, I understand.” They discuss TC. Reinaldo feels that she is dangerous. “She thrives on the unhappiness of others.”

José walks into Babs’ bedroom to tell her he is going out. She’s depressed and lying on the bed. She cries that she misses Kikito and wants to be near him all the time. He tells her if she misses him so much to go over to Gris’ mansion to see him. “She won’t let me see him.”

Pati and Antonio come downstairs. Reinaldo is there to warn Pati that TC is becoming dangerous and he would like her to move back to the posada. Although Pati knows in her heart this is true, she thinks she can control TC. Reinaldo won’t hear of it. He mentions that he and Gris think that all the misfortune that has happened to Gris and her family is the work of TC.

Antonio remarks to Paloma that he liked Reinaldo until that stuff with Vanessa came out. “I saw the pictures on the Internet.” “You can’t believe everything you see on the Internet. Reinaldo is a good man. I’ve never seen a man love a woman so much.”

Viernes 12/27 Pt 3

At Gris’ house Pati and Antonio discuss Reinaldo’s request. Pati thinks she still has some sway over TC but Antonio agrees with Reinaldo. Later they join the family at the table where Amaila and Rafa are eating their second meal of the evening. Everyone raves about Gris’ meatballs. Babs walks in unannounced and asks if she can stay to eat. Gris says yes. “You have to feed the dog.” Jethro says under his breath, “You have to feed the bitch.”

Esther and Gabe discuss the upcoming interview. Both hope that once she clears the air about what happened then the press will leave her alone. Gabe says he will always be at her side. I want these two to end up together.

The meal is finished and Gris says Babs can help her wash the dishes. “But I just had my nails done.” “You don’t have nails. You have talons.” Pati asks to see Amalia’s wedding gown and Babs wants to see it too. Amalia says it’s OK if Babs sees it. Kikito helps Gris bring the dishes into the kitchen. Jethro remarks that he doesn’t want Babs here and Rafa says “No, you do want her here.”

An embittered TC looks at a picture of her, Reinaldo and Pati. “It’s not fair that I’m the only one who’s not happy. I was born to be rich and successful. That’s why the Palmers adopted me. My real mother was sent to another world with a little help from me. I killed my mother.” She looks again at the picture, in particular Pati.
“You think you’re going to be happy with Bigotudo Jr? Not even being my daughter can save you.” She remembers her various murders as well as almost pushing Pati down the stairs. She picks up a pistol (is it the same one Reinaldo locked away?) and caresses it with her hands.

Thanks so much, Sue. Terrific recap.

I SO enjoyed TC getting carried out of the restaurant.

Are they going to wait until the very last episode for Griselda to realize the truth and forgive Reinaldo? These two have been together less than any two protagonists I can remember.

Beatriz surely backed down quickly when she saw Esther with that huge knife in her hand! I didn't blame Esther a bit. Beatriz' behavior is outrageous.

By the way, I've been meaning to comment on the spelling and pronunciation of Esther's name. It is spelled Esther, but pronounced Estair. Another example of this Spanish pronunciation is Edith González. When I was watching Doña Bárbara, my Mexican co-worker said the actress' name as Aydit. Apparently the English spelling of names with "th" in them is retained, but the "th" is pronounced as just "t".

Escribió Novelera:

"These two have been together less than any two protagonists I can remember."

A few minutes ago I was reading Novela Lounge's review of 2013 and I came across this in the review of Marido

"El único error es que los Latinos están acostumbrados a ver telenovelas en la cual los protagonistas se aman desde el Capitulo 1, aquí la historia de amor entre ellos no sucede hasta más de la mitad de la novela.

"The only mistake [they made] is that Latinos are accustomed to watching novelas in which the protagonists are in love starting from the first chapter. But here, the love story doesn't happen until more than halfway through the novela."

Personally I don't really like the "amor a primera vista" novelas. I like the love story to develop. But this was ridiculous!

It's a short review and maybe later I'll translate the whole thing.

Sue- Many thanks for the wonderful recap, and for that bit of info from Novelas Lounge. I also didn't mind the slow build to Rei and Gris as a couple, but they had so little time as a couple, and since the breakup have hardly been in the same scenes for a total of 5 minutes. It makes the love story lose momentum and you start to not care whether they ever become a couple again.

I was glad to see Pati finally tell Rei about the time TC tried to throw her down the stairs. But it looks like Pati may be TC's #1 target again. In a way, I see how that makes sense. Kill Pati, and Rei and Tony would be wounded to the core. Perhaps Pati should have a bodyguard too.

So ROFL at Rei calling TC a sack of rotten potatoes. Rei is long suffering but when he gets mean, he gets mean!

I don,t think people mind a slow relationship buildup, because in the traditional Rosas the protas don't have relations until marriage, and the marriage can take forever. People can take chaste tension-two people staring across the room and pining for each other you just need two good protas with chemistry. However, this whole TN was just drawn out for no reason, not just the Gris/Rei separation. Telemundo just seems blah after the success of la Patrona-which they are repeating on Mun2 right now--and Cielos. I also think American made tns are just not very good for some strange reason.
