Por siempre mi amor #25 1/8/14: The Show Must Go On! (Where There's a Will, There's a Way!)

(Hi, it's CorazonSalvaje substituting for the night. This episode shows love and patience overcomes any obstacles no matter how diminutive or major.)

Lo de ayer-
Isabel is gussied up and off to get dressed.
Methuselah's beating and death threat.
Our preview at the sabatoge and the outcome of it with Isa's scream.
Lo de Hoy-
As Isa screams, Gabs, Tita and Aranza hurry in to see what the deal is and two out of 3 comfort la novia. Some suspicions are up but Tita states whom is really at fault. You-know-who leaves and thoughbubbles about when Soni had instructed her to commit the deed (I wanted an Edgar Allen Poe reference there BTW) and how she did it. Isa then overreacts and pleads to call off the wedding when Tita re-assures her, "where there's a will, there's a way." and that the wedding won't be discarded due to un capricho de Aranza.
She never saw it coming- THE FABULOUSLY STAINED DRESS!- This Summer Now we're with Sonia whom is drinking herself away and a gal-pal comes in (I feel as if at some point they will end up like Veronica and Cynthia) with the intention to distract her only to find her wasting away. It's too early for copas dearie her friend retorts and Soni then believes she is only there to lecture her so she whisks her away but Gal-Pal stays. The maid comes in and GP requests a coffee black (this is gonna be a long while for them, isn't it?)
Zenaida is fitting Aran. in her dress and Tita comes in for a heart to heart with the little one. Zen leaves and here we go; Aranza de la Riva, why'd you do it? Answer me, why-did-you-do-it? it wasn't me. Really you're gonna pull that one? Tita finally says what we have been thinking and states that if Aranza was her's, she would get a whooping! Well I'm not yours! Well thank Mr.Big! I don't think I could love a kid as grosera and rotten as you. What would your mother think of this? You should be ASHAMED! And another thing, if you EVER thought the wedding would be finito after this setback, you've got another thing coming!
Did you hug your mother with those red hands we caught you with?
Wow, Tita as well is a force to be reckoned with as she goes to find a spare wedding dress (whose it is remains a mystery. Hers? Eugenia's? Bruno's when he wears it pretending to be Gabs so he could hear the two words he is dying to?) Tit. returns one last time to tell Aran. one final time, "act like a mini Soni and no one will love you!" Aranza begins to feel the soul burn.
Now we're with Gilberto and Cuca whom is asking for permission to go see Padre Adalberto about Marianela. Gil is curious as to why she is so interested in the kid and Cuca explains that she saw when the baby was left in a basket on his doorstep and she went with him when they went to drop her off at the orphanage. She has always felt as if they were together since birth and Gil then sees that her love is strong as ginger. If only he knew!
We are now with Marianela and she is twirling throwing a dolly in the air but drops it so she goes down the stairs and in the process knocks over s potted plant and breaks it. A crabby lady whom is her social worker comes and orders her to clean it. She gets irritated too quickly and yanks her away from it. (it HAD to be the favorite one huh?)
At the wedding now, Tita and Art Dad chit chat about why is my bride to be taking so long? Tit. then explains about the dress incident but explains that it resolved itself. Isa will be down the aisle in no time! Now we have Esteban dopey grin and all enter to see Aranza and they chat as well. It's great you came so I'm not so alone. Art Dad is ogling the couple who is stealing his thunder and goes to protest their togetherness but is intercepted by Bruno who tells him es pura celos de padre and that it isn't Esteban's fault he was born unto Ferny-jailbirdy. You'd better get over that when Aran. is older or else-har dee har har! YA YEGO LA NOVIA! YAY! Isabel is as blushing a bride as can be while Aranza is dreading it and Este tells her she will look like that someday in the future. (I love this kid. I just hope he doesn't lose his marbles like his idiotic father) OK so Bruno comfirms he doesn't prance around pretending to be Gabs by telling G that the dress is exactly like his mother's and Gabs then says it was a little rouched up but she will explain later. B then whispers, would you like that for our wedding? Gabs is rather ticked off as she says, ya vas empezar con tus cosas otra vez? I don't wanna fight. Fine, I never said anything, zippo the lippo! Very much gushing from Tita and now a moment we have been awaiting. Isa rather saccharinely (we're talking Lorena from Querida Enemiga here) tells Aranza she is forgiven and that she loves her a lot. Looks (happy ones) are exchanged and it's wedding time!
Arturo and Isabel are walking up the altar and he tells her how beautiful she looks. (tell her something she doesn't know!)
Gil and Padre Ad. are together and Gil is venting about how he hasn't seen Soni in a long time, like ever since the attorney incident/argument/argcident. He misses her and now Padre (El Ay Dios Mio! from HQEDNS) chimes in withhow much longer are you going to be like that? Words hurt but we must learn to forgive! With that, Gil's son Daniel rushes in from a trip he took. Gil then lays the schedule out. Relaxing for now but soon we must return to the internado. A little FF since this is a little too long and we have Padre Dios Mio asking which is more important, Love or Pride?
Soni is with her Gal-Pal (I'm also getting a vibe that this amigui will try and take Bruno from Gabs. Just a hunch since the two bad girl friends mirror the two good girl friends) and GP advises Soni not to drink anymore. Yay Sonia, looks like you have someone who cares about you aside from your dad after all! Soni laments her stepsister lament about not being Art Dad's prometida and la otra estupida is. Her friend DEFINITELY is the lesser of 2 evils and tries to break some sense into her saying let's face it, he was NEVER going to choose you. (she is probably thoughbubbling, hell maybe I even would've had a better chance with him than you) and our frant(ic)gonista asks how could she be so sure (and thoughtbubbles back, thoughbubble that one more time and you'll be over at the mansion en los cielos with Eugenia.) Her amigui then says if he really liked her, he wouldn'tve chosen Eugenia first.
Cuca and Padre Ad. are with young Mari and walking along a playground. She lets it slip that she is struck at times. Who hits you? This teacher since I knocked over a potted plant (her favorite one to pinpoint the "justification") and Padre then states even though she did that, it isn't a justifiable reason to lay a hand on her! He will bust them and shut them down by all means necessary (slow your roll Malcolm!) Cuca thinks this is mentiritas but would Mari lie? Some humor later and a kid kicks a ball towards her. Mari then plays along and makes nice with the new 9 year old.

(OK so I saw the episode on TV but used youtube to revise what they were saying. I'm just noticing youtube cut out the wedding scene but TBH it's your typical wedding fluff; theme music playing en el fondo, vows to love each other eternally even though we have a novela to get through and the blessed/lucky coins. It is hermoso however! It reminds me of the Cachito de Cielo wedding for those who have seen it. We are treated to a Disney-like dance scene at the wedding party and everyone watches in awe at la parejita. Also, Aranza cries during the kiss. She really is her auntie's niece.)
While Art and Isa are secluded for a little, Gabs and Bruno are cutting a rug and HE KILLS THE MOMENT BY POPPING THE QUESTION FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME! OH MY GOURD! She is turned off and runs from him. As a response to whom said Oso and Bruno both have in common their failure to understand woman, Oso had B beat by miles. Here's hoping for Soni's friend to at least TRY to swoop in and nab him from Gabs very soon. That oughta spark your plug like the 4th of July. He pulls her back and she suspects he is giving her an ultimatum but even he, as bad as he is with his chicks, knows that's a no-no! He just wants to know what she thinks about that and she says it's been discussed to death. It's too soon, keep things professional! He just wants a date to that day she is ready and with that, she runs off in a huff. Funny part- Art Dad and Isa are watching from afar and are amused by this and they are the ones who got married a little too soon. It is rather funny since there is a pattern here EVERYONE has noticed except for Bruno himself when it comes to badgering Gabs for commitment.
Pad.Ad and Cuca are discussing whether or not to adopt Marianela yet.
Art Dad and Isa are talking with Aran. about a 2 day trip and how Oso and Tit. are going to be there to take care of her and take her out. Isa then pitches a plan for a party when they get back(finish what you start and don't promise what you can't keep Isa) and that lights up Aranza faster than One Direction. Aran. is giddy but comes down with gloom and states that it can't be the best party for obvious reasons as she glances at the portrait above. She walks away and into her next level of mayhem (directed by Soni of course! ) The maletas are ready and Art Dad requests that Isa's clothes be obtained before they leave (and make it snappy. Un torbellino de tela y tijertazo esta por venir!)
Gabs and Bruno are back for one more scene of the day. Why did you leave? You made me look stupid. Why would I stay with you constantly requesting the same thing monotonously? Arguing but you never answered. I had a question and instead of answering it, you left me there like a fool. That's what you do all the time, turn your back (and slam the door or stomp the floor?) Gabriela speak to me, respond, react, turn this way! Hey, LOOK, first don't pull me. second, is my ignoring the same if I look at you or not? Respond and tell me how much longer 'til we can have a commitment? NEVER! WHAT? NEVER, you said it yourself. If we aren't to marry, we shouldn't be together (no actually I don't recall him EVER saying that. Maybe you did when you assumed him of ultimatum usage but he never said that Gabriela.) He is flabbergasted and thinks of her now as an ego-maniac whom plays with others' emotions. Don't insult me in my house (apartment, BOOM that's 2 Gabs) A bit of tension, angst and yelling until Gaby finally tells him to exit and not let the door him where mother nature split him. With the small fragment of dignity of course but before that, (puts down little black box) it's yours. I have no right to keep it away anymore. Throw it away, pawn it off, sell it to Cash4Gold, me vale un pepino. I just hope you know that this represents my love/feelings and if you throw it away, you're throwing those away too (but what does she care huh? oh wait those are real tears.) And unto all a guilt-ridden night as he walks out la puerta.
(Yeah look away from it Gaby. Avoid even a single glance at his love/feelings. Still a better love story- who am I kidding? This AND Twilight are on the same level -a saucy B+ to post on the refrigerator)
Oh look Methselah's looked worse and on the phone with our lovely Soni sky no less. Sonia, we're screwed. What do you mean by screwed (and what do you mean by we?) Isaias (pack-a-punch) Huertas is right on the money to us and we need to leave the country nowerzz! Look, this may just be the alcohol I had since in the wee hours of the morning but I'm not going anywhere but this conversation is so goodbye and good luck (finger hovers over end call) -click! Gal Pal asks what's up and Soni explains everything as if it were a casual thing (which pretty much is huh?) and her friend who is DEFINITELY the lesser of two evils is very concerned. Someone's a bit tipsy as they're helped onto the couch. I'm beginning to think instead of separating B&G, Soni's friend will bring them closer.
Touching Mother/Son scene with Bru and Tit. You know, when you think about it, this is Tita's fault since she suggested those two go out (and I was the one who recapped that day to boot LOL.) B really shouldn't give up any hope since we have another 100 or so Caps. to go.
Final scene- Aranza is to do as Soni's instructed and destroy the five prettiest of Isa's blouses. This little girl is way too impressionable even for a TV show character. Let the games begin!
(End-of-Capitulo)

Avances- TIME JUMP! Aranza is now a teen and her parents got her a car as she spills to Soni whom hasn't aged a day over 40. As for the shirt cutting, I saw some more Lorena-saccharinitude and Tita pops up so hilarity must insue.

Thanks, Corazón Salvaje! I may have spewed coffee with the "did you hug your mother with those red hands?" line. And I'm going to start using "Oh my gourd."

Did Bruno say he was leaving Mexico for a while? At that point in the episode I was kind of snoozing.

So I've decided I could sort of care less about Art, Bruno and Gaby. I'm in this for Isa, Tita, Ozzie, Mau, Andy, Esteban, Gilberto, Cuca.... you get my drift.

Thank you and bravo, Corazon for taking double duty with a humorous yet comprehensive recap.
I had to chuckle at the Veronica and Cynthia reference because I don't see Sucia's friend lasting until the end of the novela. She already knows more than she should, which could lead to her demise. As a friend, she does try to be the voice of reason for Sucia but it falls on deaf ears.
IA-Tita is a force to be reckoned with, and yes she said what we were thinking but once again Ara gets away with the crime and is not appropriately addressed/punished for damaging Isa's dress. Ara is her Auntie's niece, you are so right. Her mannerisms like Sucia are beyond scary. The child REALLY needs help.
What part of I don't want a committed relationship does Bruno not get. He acts like a spoiled child and I can't feel bad for him, yes Tita has lovingly enabled him. He has to learn to listen to a woman and listen for real.
Isa's clothing cut up and I'm sure Ara will only have to say 2 perdonames to make it right.
Alas the time up. In Corazon's words, let the games begin.

Thanks Corazon. Loved Tita' s sexy sixties wedding dress. Isa pulled off the look.

Sara- Yes. Bruno did say he's leaving Mexico and getting distance from Gabi and independence from Tita.

The party they are having for Aranza next week is her birthday party, so she must be turning 11.

The people who ended up on my sh*t list this episode may surprise you. It's padre and Cuca. They should have told Don Gil about his step-granddaughter long ago. So what if they only have a strong suspicion that Mari is Sonia's child. If anyone could get the DNA evidence, it's Gil. Either by dragging Sonia by her hair down to the clinic, or having Mari tested against Daniel to see if they're related. In any case, that girl should rightfully be growing up in Gil's mansion being pampered by her Gramps, and not being abused in an orphanage.

I have to say that I agreed with everything Tita said, but wow it seemed harsh. I almost felt sorry for Aranza. Almost.

Poor Esteban. He's too good for Aranza.

Our comments crossed Vivi.

And right on!!! Poor Marianela! But I need a quick refresher. Sonia is Gilberto's stepdaughter. No blood relation, right? But Sonia and Daniel are half siblings, correct?

Sara - Yes. That's correct.

thanks, Corazon! for that snappy recap. I laughed out loud at "two out of three offer comfort." HA

Wow..Isa wore Titams wedding gown ??? Isn't Tita quite a bit shorter than Tita? oh well..suspended disbelief.

Susanlynn- I picture Tita wearing some sky high platform with hers. You know she totally rocked those looks in the 60s. While Isa was wearing relatively low heels with her dress.

CorazonSalvaje, this was simply great. I had to pare down my list of what I thought were your best lines but had to keep: "two out of 3 comfort la novia", "Bruno's when he wears it pretending to be Gabs so he could hear the two words he is dying to?)", "Art Dad is ogling the couple who is stealing his thunder" "Her friend DEFINITELY is the lesser of 2 evils and tries to break some sense into her saying let's face it, he was NEVER going to choose you. (she is probably thoughbubbling, hell maybe I even would've had a better chance with him than you"), "Isa rather saccharine (we're talking Lorena from Querida Enemiga here) tells Aranza she is forgiven and that she loves her a lot" and finally "Lorena-saccharinitude", (QE still one of my favorites.) I burst out laughing at OH MY GOURD! WOW!

I especially appreciated your translating what Tita said to Aranza, especially the comment about what her mother would think. I can't say I felt one iota of sympathy for Aranza here. It was obvious she felt absolutely no remorse and further, continued by destroying more of Isa's wardrobe!! Agree with you and Tablet jefa that she is indeed her aunt's niece. Little Esteban deserves so much better.

Very sad about how poor little Marianela’s life is going. I hope we can expect a happy ending for her. Poor dear. She always seems to be in trouble and the recipient of unjustifed adult ire while doing nothing wrong!

I was surprised the wedding did take place. I was sure it was going to be cancelled!

Pushy Bruno got what he deserved. Boundries and personal space. Your relentless pursuit and invasiveness cost you what may have been the love of your life. Needless to say, your timing has always been off.

Sara, I am with you on the list of characters that seem to be worth caring for except for Gaby who I will reserve judgement on for the moment. Steamroller Bruno was a lot to take - she could have handled him and the situation better certainly.

Vivi, as usual you made me think and am now reconsidering my feelings about the padre and Cuca. You made some excellent points, particularly about Don Gil.

CS, this was one great line after another. A terric recap. Gracias.

Diana

Thank you again Corazon !!! Am I the only one that felt terribly sorry for the "aloneness" of Aranza? How nice it would have been if abuelo sat with his arm around her during the ceremony or if the "charming couple" at least pretended she existed. Perhaps then good and not evil (Sonia) would win out. The wedding made me sick as did Bruno. Having said all that, I really like this tn believe it or not !!

Only short coming I see in Tita is she raised a manboy, otherwise she be cool.
Hopefully after the time jump of 10 years and Bruno running away to join a cabaret (performing in Titas wedding dress no less-CS I about lost it with the visual) he returns a little less weepy.

So we got 3 new young uns for our time jump. Daniel, Tassel, Marianela

How can Art make a stink about Estabans father when his wife slept with him? Hope Art was tested for a STD

I have no problem with Gabi (save for letting the train wreck proceed in slow motion and her hairdo) and know plenty of women similar. Nothing is defective in them they just are independent

I don't like Art at all

Suzanne Gonzales is really pretty and the light pink lipstick very becoming

Run Estaban, run from the "Crazy" girl with daddy issues

Anon 8:32- I was more struck by the conversation between Ara and Este about their parents remarrying and getting a step-dad/mom. Este looked over at his mom and saw how happy she was dancing with Mau, and that was good enough for him. Mau's a good guy and makes his mom happy. Since Isa is a good person and loves her dad, he doesn't get why Ara can't be happy for her dad. He and Ara are looking at the world through very different lenses. She also didn't want to join him on the dance floor and enjoy the party. I'm glad none of the adults didn't let her attitude ruin the party. In fact, given what she did to the dress, she got off really easy!

Estaban has a mother that is totally committed to him and actually pays attention while Art only interacts with Aranza once she acts out. I do think Estaban has an understanding way beyond his years and recall the conversation he had with Andy when he overheard Fernando was in the pen. Aranza on the other hand does have a Sonia deep inside she struggles to suppress. Art is the kind of guy that takes no personal responsibility and directs blame to others. I know he continues to be central to the story but think him worthless.

Thanks for substituting , CS, since I'm sick. Back under the covers I go.

Urban- Although they call Sonia Ara's aunt, Sonia and Eugenia were actually cousins. They were cousins through their mothers. In early episodes, they mentioned that they are each other's only remaining family, so their parents are dead. And Don Gil, surprised to hear Eugenia had passed away, told Sonia that he wished she had told him; even though Eugenia was not related to him, he would have liked to be there to support Sonia during the funeral. That's when Sonia asked for travel money instead. Typical.

In LatAm, and many other countries, a chlid calls a relative (or close family friend) who is of their parents's generation aunt/uncle. Sonia is technically Ara's 2nd cousin.

Thanks, Vivi. I deleted that because I hate looking like an idiot. I should never post before caffeine.

Aranza would be Sonia's first cousin once removed and despite being a gringa I consider it appropriate for children to address people of their parents' generation as "Uncle" and "Aunt."

How much does Gilberto really know about Sonia's nefarious activities? He did get upset at finding out she was visiting Ferny in the slammer and I hope he changes his will immediately. One has to wonder what her mother was like.

Does anyone know how Art and Eugenia met? I was surprised when Sonia said she wanted Art before he choose Eugenia.

I must have missed Daniel before and I guess he is the biological son of Gilberto and step sister of Sonia and possible uncle by marriage to Marianela? And Marianela's father? Could that as well be Fernando?

I'm itching to know that one, too.

Urban- He doesn't seem to know much. Sonia seems to keep her various lives very separate from each other. Even poor Daniel was looking forward to seeing his sister. Good luck with that, kid! The most Gil seems to know is that Sonia just uses him/comes home for money. When she yelled that thing about him not even being her father, he seemed genuinely hurt, so it doesn't seem like she is usually so open about her disdain for him. She seems to act sweet around him and Daniel, even if she's not around much. Cuca, on the other hand, seems to know much more about Sonia's bad attitude and "mistakes" (like the pregnancy and dumping the baby), but she keeps quiet about it. I hope she and Padre don’t end up convincing Gil to forgive Sonia and to start supporting her again.

Gil seems to be very soft with Sonia (he spoke about feeling like her father from when he first married her mom when she was a little girl), but very hard on his son. He wants his son to be a military man, and feels that being away from home in the military boarding school will toughen him up. I think he sent the wrong kid to military school. Sonia could have used the discipline, and Daniel seems to soft-hearted.

Tofie- In the first episode we learned that Sonia knew Art first and introduced him to Eugenia. Art was dating someone else at the time-- someone his parents approved of. He dupmed her for Eugenia. But Sonia had already been trying to snag him.

Daniel is Sonia's half brother, not step-brother.

Vivi DC. Oh. Thanks. Trying to keep up with all the relationships has given me a head ache. Sonia and Daniel share the same mother. Duh

Urban- I still think some of the things you said about the dynamics between Eugenia and Sonia are very valid, because they did see each other as sisters, at least Sonia did. There was definitely some sibling-like jealousy going on with Sonia.

Vivi..exactly so about Ara calling the older so and so So-no "Tia." My mother was the youngest of 7 children, and her oldest sister was pregnant with her first child at the same time my grandmother was pregnant with my mother. Therefore, my mother grew up with her sisters five children being more like brothers and sisters than nieces and nephews, and my sister and I always called them "Aunt" and "Uncle." Likewise, my children call my best friends "Aunt" and "uncle, instead of Mr. And Mrs. which seems too formal for such close friends or by their first names which seems less respectful for addressing older people.

Thank you Corazon for two in a row
you're working overtime and are greatly appreciated. --- I got a kick out of "and that lights up Aranza faster than One Direction."

Tofie---You cracked me up again---
Hope Art was tested for a STD.

This family thing is driving me up the wall. Aunts, cousins, half
this, half that uncles, 1st--2nd
sisters, grand parents and on and on. I'll never be able to figure this family tree out. I'm just going to stick with the main characters and go from there the best I can.

Aranza??? She got away with paint on the wedding dress and now
she is becoming quite handy with scissors. I said yesterday that Aranza should be slapped into the next episode but what good would that do? Aranza already has hate in her mind and a slap or two or three won't take the hate away. What to do??? After the scissor incident, Aranza should have the Golden Rule explained to her and she must also be taught that actions have consequences. She cut
Isa's clothes, how about cutting
Aranza's favorite dresses, blouses
and pants as punishment for what she has done? Does anyone think that would have any affect?
the gringo

I too grew up in a family where we called our parents friends Aunt and Uncle. My parents were strict about respect to our elders and we always called our friends parents Mr. and Mrs. My father's family was even more formal and he called his cousins Cousin Jack or what ever. We didn't go that far.

Ara has good manners even if she is being overly influenced by a beyoch. I loved how kind Tita ripped into her. She was right in saying Eugenia would be ashamed of her. I still think that Ara is really conflicted, she seems to be so sweet and struggling with doing things deep down she knows are wrong.

Love Esteban he is such a sweet boy and he gives Ara excellent advise which is counter to what So-not and Downer Daphne are always throwing out.

The priest and Cuco are never going tell Don Gil about Marianella. My hunch is that the only way the truth will come out there is if she somehow meets Daniel and they become close. Since he would be her uncle nobody would want that relationship to develop.

Tofie no Fernando isn't Marinella's father. We had a flashback scene with So-not and the baby's father. So-not has somehow managed to convince Cuco that the child was as a result of her being raped which surprise, surprise is another lie. I'm wondering if Don G even knows there is a baby.

I thought Marianela's dad was a mystery. She told Tobias ( not his name but the actor from CI) that she was preggers and he said it wasn't his because he had had a vasectomy. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right, gringo. It's hard to keep up with it all.

Sara..yes! I remember So-no telling "CI Tobias" that he was the Babydaddy and him saying "no chance of that." If the little girl wasn't so sweet, I might have expected another Rosemary's baby scenario ...yikes. Maybe so-no got around a lot back then and even she does not know who the daddy is. What a heartless ho. She evidently has had no contact with the little girl over the years. So-no is going to get a big bite from karma eventually.

Sonia sure is hitting the booze hard now and if it is an indication of past behavior she may not know who her baby daddy is. I am looking forward to knowing how Marinella fits into all this. Wouldn't it be poetic is she turns out the saint and our little satan in diapers, Aranza, sprouts real horns.

I hope Estaban takes the photo, certificate and rings out of his little box and burns them and grows up to be a man.

It seemed pretty clear that Sonia was just trying to scam "CI Tobias" when she told him he was the daddy. She seems surprised by the news that he had a vasectomy, but not offended when he accused her of trying to trap him with someone else's baby. Marianela could be anyone's kid, even Fernando's. *shudder* But his genes haven't hurt Esteban or Angelito, so far.

True, per our long history of protagonists with seriously twisted parents.

Betting that eventually Marienela enters Aranza's life and this insanity affects the next generation in a similar way.

I don't think Feo is the baby daddy. There is not past hook up vibe between him and So-not.

Esteban is the type to remain true blue to Ara the brat, but Daphne's got her eye on him even as she treats him like dirt and thinks he is beneath her. Even as a little girl she is the envious type and will go after him because Ara will have him. It has always puzzled me how she knew he was of a lower class because when he was introduced to the class he was in uniform just like the rest of them but she immediately pegged him as inferior. He has good manners, doesn't speak like a low class boy so Daphne must have some ESP skills which a few of the other people in this story could use.

No, Gilberto doesn't know Sonia was pregnant. I remember that Cuca the maid knew and Sonia pressed her into helping hide the pregnancy. I think Sonia went "off on a trip" somewhere for the last part of the pregnancy.

Regarding the wedding, I thought Isabel's replacement dress was much prettier than the one that Aranza ruined. I also had to laugh that the dress was Tita's. Yeah right. Because Tita was so much taller when she was younger. Isabel is a strikingly beautiful woman but her whole look was ruined by that gawd-awful pink lipstick. I know most of you don't like the redder lipstick Isabel usually wears, but I much prefer it to that sickly pink.

Gaby's wedding attire was hideous. Andrea looked like a hausfrau, can't she even do something with her hair? And the men's choir *humming* the wedding march? Good grief. I hate that song anyway, but having it hummed made it even worse. I thought Tita's outfit was the best of all. That hat was kickass!

Is anybody else getting sick of hearing the theme song?

I may be the only one but I think Bruno is right. He and Gabi have been dating for over a year now and as far as we know neither of them has dated anyone else. She's always known how he feels because he's never been secret about it. If marriage was never going to be an option for her she should have broken things off with him months ago. She just kept stringing him along with "it's too soon". It's really kind of cruel when you think about it. Allowing him to build up expectations over time and then slamming the door shut like that. No wonder he wants to leave Mexico.

I think a fitting punishment for Aranza ruining the dresses would be to make her pay for them. Give her some kind of chores, like mowing that big-ass lawn or washing windows, and pay her minimum wage. And let her decide how much of her pay goes toward the debt. And I kind of think Tita would have had a right to smack her. That paint didn't just get on the dress, Aranza ruined Tita's carpet as well.

I'm excited about the time jump tonight.

I'm excited too, Vivi!!

I think Esteban has always been pretty open about Isa his benefatress. Maybe Dafne assumes that since he's on scholarship, he's low class. Dafne doesn't get that "class" is about behavior, not bank balances. She's one to talk. It seems to me her mom struggles since dad left.

Great comment. I too thought Tita's dress much better and saw the paint on the carpet that will have to be replaced.

I don't agree about Bruno being strung along by Gabi. I think he is very naive and acts like a teenage boy with a crush on the popular girl and despite Gabi telling him back off he thought he would ask her to marry him at his buddies wedding. The whole love thing was in his head and became fixated on her and was begging, cajoling or crying trying to get his way with her. Estaban takes rejection better than Bruno

I'm not upset at either Gabi or Bruno. They wanted different things. It happens all the time. Neither of them were really listening to the other person. Bruno was expecting that Gabi would one day change her mind about the marriage thing. And Gabi thought that she could indefinitely enjoy Bruno's company and attentions, without giving him the commitment that he has wanted from day one. They hopefully both learned a life lesson.

XLtPeruvian, ita about Bruno. Gaby knew Bruno wanted a commitment and dated him for a year. If she didn't want a man serious about her, she shouldn't have dated him for that long. She knew to shut Edgar down conclusively when he wanted a commitment. She continued to date Bruno knowing he was serious, giving him hope she would change her mind. She said herself when he is around, I want space but when he's gone, I want him around. Bruno wasn't imagining things plus Gaby supported Isa/Art. How confusing that must have been for Bruno to think Gaby might change her mind and have her be hot and cold like that.

Gaby should know what she wants by now. I actually teared up a bit watching their breakup scene and thought it rude Gaby turned her back at Bruno. That was the time to lay it on the table and make her case she didn't ever want to marry. I'm glad Bruno stood up for himself, though, and that ring was gorgeous.

What if Marianela's father turned out to be Art? That would be an interesting turn.

J- I did think that it was very rude of Gabi to keep her back turned to Bruno like that, while he was trying to have a serious discussion with her. That was an Ara move-- Gabi looked like a 10 year girl doing it. It would have ticked me off too. Very passive agressive.

Aleta- That would be interesting. But Art has never given any indication that Sonia has or will ever float his boat. He has never seen her that way.

You know Aleta it ran through my mind too that Art and Sonia had hooked up before. Are we twisted or what?

Gaby was rude and juvenile and it seemed that she had done that turning her back thing repeatedly in the past because Bruno mentioned it. I'm thinking Bruno is going to leave Mexico and when he returns he will have a wife and Gaby will have thrown away a good man. Gaby's behavior makes me wonder not that she had been hurt by some cad but that she might have been raped and doesn't want any kind of intimate relationship with a man.

I agree Gabi continued to date him and could be seen as leading him on however she repeatedly told him she was not a relationship kind of girl. Whenever she would have that conversation Bruno would get butthurt and Gabi would relent. I think she should have broke it off with him the first time he acted clingy. I've seen too many guys like him that are sugar sweet but attach too easily and quickly. If he was not Titas son I would suspect he could become a stalker type. Will Gabi end up alone someday and wished she had let someone in? Probably

I just hope when Bruno comes back from his sabbatical he is an adult and world wise.

Gaby doesn't necessarily have to have had a bad experience with a man in her past. She just doesn't want a commitment. Period. There are a LOT of women like that. Having said that, she shouldn't have encouraged Bruno to hang around hoping for something serious, especially when he asked her for a chance, just to see if she would (maybe) change her mind in the future. She should have told him, in no uncertain terms, that he was wasting his time. Or dated him IN ADDITION to others, not exclusively for a year. I think they are both at fault. Gaby for giving him (even a smidgen) some hope that she would change her mind and Bruno for assuming that her mind could be easily changed. Now I hope when he leaves that he will come back with a wife, not just a girlfriend. That should completely shut the door on their relationship. But it's a TN, so who knows?

No, believe me, Bruno's not a stalker type. I've been subjected to a stalker. Bruno is a bit needy but he's not controlling. Stalkers are very manipulative to start with and I don't see that in Bruno.

Gaby should just take the ring back to the jeweler and have him credit the amount back to Bruno's gold card. To do otherwise would be declasse.

She may not want to marry or commit in any other way; I totally get it. Many women resist the idea of falling into outmoded gender roles and many don't want to find themselves dependent on men for their happiness. She may not realize this herself.

But it is time she did.

UA, you're right about giving the ring back; but it was a gorgeous ring, though. When Gaby looked at it, though, as if she realized that Bruno was really, really, really serious. The actress was really expressive in a subtle way. Her breath kind of caught for a second and her eyes went wide and then you saw she immediately regretted letting Bruno go.

I don't think Bruno was needy/clingy. The first caps showed him as a confirmed bachelor with Tita and Art bothering him about the fact he wasn't married or even serious with anyone. He was a lot like Gaby in that he didn't believe in love. He fell in love with Gaby and just wanted her to feel the same about him. Like Vivi said, they both wanted different things, and thought the other person would come around to their side. I have a feeling that Gaby will be the one to regret refusing the engagement.
