Lo que la vida me robo Cap 49, 1-17-14—Something something in a shower

WRITTEN ON THE FLY AS I WATCH! PLEASE FORGIVE ERRORS! SORRY FOR THE HORRIBLE DELAY!

Refrito:

The Padre is warning Monse that Ale will find out that the capataz is really JL is. They've gotta find JL and Angel. But Monse doesn't know how she can help; she doesn't know much about JL's background.

The new:

Godmother of Angelica swears to JL that she'll rip him a new one if he's going to do wrong by Angel. He says no, he'll stay with her till the end. He knows she's in love with him and he will respect her. The Godmother wants him to prove his gratitude to Angel for all she's done; Godmother suggests marriage. Godmother can cover his tracks and make things safe for him, since she's rich and has connections. She'll work hard to clear his name. Godmother sees Angel as a daughter and Angel doesn't have much time left. This would make her happy before she dies. Will JL do it or not?

Godmother and JL visit Angel. She knows that if her dad finds her, she'll be dragged back home and JL will go to jail. JL wants to make sure she's really serious about him and this isn't some fantasy or delusion she's got about how she feels about him. No, she's serious. So he asks her to marry him. Tears of gratitude from her as they kiss.

JL calls Refugio and Esmerelda to tell them what's up. He wants them to come to his wedding. Joy joy and surprise!

Monse visits Ale in his office, they both talking about JL aka Capataz. Ale wants to know why she got so freaked out at the thought of his death. Ale thinks she overreacted. It's not like she was related to him, she never got to know the capataz that well. She explains that she identified with the capataz and his love for someone he wasn't supposed to have. (Supposedly Angel.)

Ale then says that he wants to talk calmly about JL, now that she's preggers. CALM, see? CALM. He wants to know if the capataz was the go-between for her and JL? She doesn't want to dredge it up again. He can't let it go. Stop insisting! She stalks out of the room.

Angel is thrilled about her upcoming boda and talking about it with Godmother. Joyful plans about the boda, Godmother will help her make it all happen so it'll be the happiest day of her life.

Ale doesn't want Monse to be mad. Monse loves him, she assures him. He loves her so much and he's so jealous. He wants to know when she started loving him. She doesn't know, it just happened suddenly. At first she thought what she felt was just physical, but then she realized it was more. Why didn't you tell me this sooner, he asks! She wasn't sure of her feelings. Now she is. LOVE LOVE LOVE, they love each other. He's the happiest man on earth and he won't bother her with his insecurities and jealousies. (We'll see how long this lasts!) We see Bitch Maria hovering somewhere glowering at their happiness.

Morning. Ale gets out of bed, Monse isn't there. She's waiting in the shower! Hot damn, he's ready to get REALLY CLEAN in that shower now! They make out in the shower and I'm sure Univision cut something out. Bitch Maria sneaks into their bedroom and is up to no good. Sees them making out in the shower but they don't notice her. She collapses in tears. Poor Bitch Maria. No, not really.

Josefina approaches Dim and wants to see how he is. Brings some food to give him for when he's out working. She wants to learn how to cook. He asks her why she has forgiven him, after all the douchebaggery he did to her. She keeps talking about the food, but she's getting choked up. He throws the food out like it's trash. She is upset and tells him that she doesn't hate him, but is angry. She explains that even though he's a douche, he made her feel love. But that love doesn't exist, he insists! She just wants him to try . . . but he can't fall in love with her or anyone. That's just how he is. She doesn't believe it. She thinks it's all an act. She thinks he's a good guy deep down inside. I wouldn't be too sure. She tells him that the food had expired ham and he would have gotten sick. He can't figure out why she'd do that. It was so he could beg off work because he'd be sick. WEIRD!

Bitch Maria is bitching at Ale because he's not hanging out with her. She's ripping him a new one as if he's "betrayed" her. He just wants her to be happy that he's happy with Monse. But she can't, so . . . he walks off.

Monse tells Rosario that she's expecting a bebe. Rosario is so thrilled and almost lets slip that this will be her grandkid, only she stops herself from saying it. Much joy as they trill on about the kid. Monse asks if Rosario had a kid, no no, she didn't. She talks about pregnancy as if she went through one, though. Rosario really wants to be the one to take care of the kid when it's born. Monse acts unsure at first, but then she says CLARO QUE SÍ! We have a bonding moment between Monse and Rosario, as Monse knows that Rosario isn't telling her everything and hopes the day will come when Rosario will trust her enough to tell her whole story.

Commercial.

Medina wants Nadia to act like the perfect wife at some social event. She looks lifeless about it. He drags her to the mirror and says look at us, we make the perfect couple! She says she'll pretend in public, but she can't hide her disgust for him in private. He says he'll keep his word to not out JL to everyone if she'll keep up her happy wife act. He tells her that JL isn't dead and in fact bribed a cop and is on the lam with Angel. It's only a matter of time before this whole thing blows up in Monse's face.

Godmother calls the Navy guy, who is her brother, and invites her to a big wedding. Oh no!

Angel's dad is talking to Navy guy about how to find Angel. He wants a picture of the capataz. Angel's dad doesn't have a picture, but he gives such a vivid description of the capataz, that the Navy guy (Ignacio) finds it familiar. But not possible! He talks about this JL guy and all the that went down with him, and Angel's dad wants to see the guy's pic. But he's dead! Angel's dad still wants to see the picture. Navy guy finally agrees and orders JL's file brought in. As they wait, they commiserate about how tough it must be for Angel's mom. Picture is brought in. That's HIM! Well what a shock!

Chief of police is out looking for something with his men. They found "it." They run off to get it (the body of the real capataz).

Angel's dad is explaining that this is the same guy, he was a capataz for Ale for months. Navy guy says they have to be discreet, because Ale doesn't know the truth yet. He explains all the dastardly things that JL supposedly did. JL is a very dangerous man, they have to handle this carefully! They don't want him to hurt Angel. Don't get Ale involved. He shouldn't know. Angel's well-being is at stake.

JL and Angel are talking about the upcoming wedding and marriage. He has some kind of menial job and he used the money to pay for the clothes. She doesn't think he should work, but he wants to. They come from different social classes, he reminds her. He tells her she should stay with her godmother. She needs special medical care. I guess he doesn't want to stay there as well, because he doesn't want anyone to think he married her for her money. (??? What kind of happy marriage will that be for her, the DYING GIRL that you're supposed to be helping out, eh JL?)

Commercial.

Victor and Ale are enjoying seeing Dim do manual labor. They start talking about how odd it was that the capataz ran off with Angel. He didn't seem like that kind of guy. Ale wants to help him anyway. They talk about what Medina said, that the capataz killed a guy. They then talk about Nadia. Ale says Victor fell for the wrong woman. Victor says he couldn't help it. But Ale thinks Media will never divorce her. Victor swears he won't rest till it happens.

Police chief is worried that Angel's dad will make a problem for him since he let JL get away. Medina has to cover for Police chief! They are going to wait to see what the tests on the body they found (the real capataz) shows. I missed something here. Police Chief can tell that Medina knows something more but isn't telling.

Another ad.

A weary Dim wants to take a break from his labor, and sits next to Ale and Victor who are watching him work. He's got more work to do, Ale says. Dim complains. Ale reminds him that he owes Josefina a lot of money and it'll take YEARS to pay it all off with work. Dim is starting to think that the year with Josefina isn't as bad, perhaps?

Josefina having a cooking lesson in the kitchen as Dominga (who was her cooking teacher) and Rosario admire her work. Bitch Maria comes in to ruin everyone's good mood. Josefina goes to deliver her food to Monse and Tia, and Bitch Maria says something snarky about Josefiina to Dominga and Rosario. BITCH. But the bitch's mood is ruined when she's told (with joyful relish) by Rosario that Ale got Monse knocked up! HA! Bitch Maria's face falls.

Chatting between Tia, Monse, and Josefina. Josefina explains how she's always been treated like a leper by men, and she's coming to an age where she's afraid she's gonna end up alone. Tia starts in on how happy she is that Monse is expecting and wants to know when Monse will tell her dad.

And yet another ad!

Dim is ready to collapse from a long day of work. He's dirty and Tia tells him to take a bath. He proceeds to try to kiss Tia as she recoils. Dim complains how Ale is treating him like a slave. Josefina gives him some food and wine, which he enjoys. He's really hungry and gobbles down Josefina's food, but assures her he's not flirting with her. What an ass. Tia thinks so too.

Bitch Maria comes in to ruin everyone's day. Tia wants Maria to fetch something and Maria bitches that she's not a servant. Tia reminds her that she gets a salary, so she has to work. GET ME MY SHAWL! BITCH! (Only Tia doesn't add that part.) Dim applauds Tia's forcefulness. Well, I'm with him there.

Bitch Maria is snooping in Tia's room and sees Monse's mom, whom she recognizes as the amante of Don Benjamin, in a family photo on Tia's table. Oh no! Bitch Maria gloats.

Bitch Maria then goes into Monse's bedroom. She hears a shower. She remembers how she saw Monse and Ale making out in the shower earlier. She looks like she has a plan. She goes in the bathroom, where she sees his Royal Hotness (Ale) soaping up. Uh oh.

A scheming Bitch Maria goes back to the bedroom, obviously disrobes, and goes into the shower nude, and a soapy-eyed Ale starts kissing her, obviously assuming that it's Monse that he's kissing. Monse of course walks into the shower at that exact moment and sees them. UH OH.

END OF EPISODE!

Avances: The manure hits the fan and it looks like Monse is on the warpath. Something about her telling her mom that she was the amante of Benjamin. Oh my! MUST SEE TV!!

Comments:
Thanks, Elvira! Come brothers and sisters, let us rant and rave together. Okay, maybe sisters, I know BM has some fans out there!

I simply do not have the words for what that wretched wench did last night! Un.Believeable! Ale and Montse have not had two minutes alone since they've been married and both have shot their marriage in the foot: he moving his wanna be lover into the house and she keeping mum about her used to be lover in the house.

JudyB, if this is the beginning of the downward slide for our couple I'll be right over to the "hell in a handbasket" table and I think we might need more chairs.
!

Back later. Can't wait for the recap and y'all's wonderful comments!

Lila

Elvira:

Can't wait for your always marvelous recap.

Have I mentioned lately how much I can't stand BM???? I gave her that nickname and it so suits her. The nerve I tell you the nerve! Ale kick her to the curb already!!!!

How precious were JL and Angie? Hoping they get married before the Navy arrives.

Pedro, blech, just blech! 'Nough said.

Gracias Elvira,

Will somebody please go to the hardware store and buy some door locks! POR FAVOR!

Oh, and by the way the ratings for this TN keep growing 4.1 million, that's a growth of +12 since it started!

Malaria is beyond cheeky. Getting into the shower with a married guy while his wife and lots of other people are IN THE HOUSE. REALLY? Girl is psychotic. If anyone saw Amor Real , a similar scene happened in the bathtub, but this gal is even bolder than Antonia , the housekeeper in AR.

Mony Mony evidently put some hot rollers in to try a new look for a day. What was up with the sudden hairstyle change ????

Elvira--Just settling down to read the recap. I know it will be smashing. Oh, and in case anyone is interested, I left some comments at the end of Thursday's epi #48.

Lila--At least they are going to be equal-opportunity sinners. They both can rant at each other. It won't be as asymmetrical as it might be otherwise, no?

Madeline, you nailed it with that name. I thought it was bold when she peeked in on Ale and Montse and was slobbering at the door. . I never dreamed she would do such a thing!

Ok. Ale's eyes were closed and there was a little soap in his mouth so his senses were a bit off as far as recognizing it was NOT Montse. But who expects another woman to get her ass in the shower with you! I just hope they are not implying a sudsy quickie in the shower because then BM would claim it's Ale's when of course we know it would be Aldopo's.

That's two SUPER SKANKY things she's done. What are you waiting for Ale?!!! UUUUuuuuf!

Lila

Ooops, there's no recap there, yet. Elvira, we are always able to wait for one of your well-crafted obras.

Guest list for the romantic seaside wedding of Angélica and José Luis in Mérida:

On the bride's side:
Angélica's godmother, Prudencia
Prudencia's brother, Captain Robledo

On the groom's side:
Refugio
Esmeralda

Gosh. I'm sure stuffed turkey Robledo will believe in JL's innocence and will forgive Refugio for killing Lieutenant Avellaneda.

And back in Campeche, I'm sure there is a perfectly innocent reason for María mistaking the shower in the master bedroom as her own.

[It is time to huddle together in our bunkers of ironic detachment. IT IS ONLY A TELENOVELA, IT IS ONLY A TELENOVELA…]

I agree Anita! They have both committed monumental estupidezes! What bothers me is in last night's episode he offered another verbal opening for her to fess up about JL. . .I think that was last night? And she went running out of the room! Oh, this is going to be bad!

Lila

Susanlynn - Chalk up the curly hair to Montse's pregnancy. Hormones can affect many different parts of the body, even dead hair strands.

NovelaMaven:

Have you got room in your bunker for me? I'll bring the wine spritzers and we can moan and wail about what the heck is going on ; )

Maybe that trap door under the "hell in a handbasket" table is the entry to the "bunkers of ironic detachment"?

Lila

Now that's using the old noodle, Lila!

Mads, por supuesto -- there's room for everyone (but if you bring refreshments, you make get better seats)!

The episode ended abruptly after Montse saw Maria and Ale together... sigh.

Mads--The way I feel today, I need some Xocolata Caliente (un doble, por favor) and churros to be served in the bunker of ironic detachment (although something tells me we can't detach ourselves from Alejo).

None of this sissy tea stuff or even a wine-spritzer (I'm cold enough already) for me. The hot chocolate served us in Granada and Barcelona was as thick as hot chocolate pudding, but 10 times more delicious than Royal Pudding.

Elvira, know your recap will be wonderful and well worth the wait.

Lila, you made me laugh right out of the gate with "moving his wanna be lover into the house...used to be lover in the house".

So, the question is, is anyone still sitting at the Maria table?? Carlos? If so, are you incognito?

I guess we have to give Maria props for incredible timing (if nothing else) - stealth and just enough time for a convenient dollop of shampoo to land in Ale's eyes)...

Madelaine, I see we are both fervently hoping the wedding will proceed but... after removing my rose colored glasses and reading NovelaMaven's guest list along with "I'm sure stuffed turkey Robledo will believe in JL's innocence and will forgive Refugio for killing Lieutenant Avellaneda" - I'm starting to worry.

I'd like to join Madelaine and NovelaMaven in the "bunkers of ironic detachment" (brillant NM)...

Anita, I went back and read your comments which I thoroughly enjoyed, especially your AV/EY reference. Now, I'm craving hot chocolate.

Diana

Anita- Now I'm craving hot chocolate and churros. Actually, I've been craving churros on and off for months, but places to get them around here are limited. Maybe we should make that our next outing? In any case, I'm about to take care of another craving by going out for Vietnamese pho with amigos.

Well, what can I say about María? Perhaps she's just environmentally conscious and is looking to save water?

I don't hear anyone complaining about that shower scene being aggressively over-edited.

I can't decide whether to quietly slip a sack over my head here at the María Mesa, or order a round of drinks for everyone. I like my bad girls bold... but...

Carlos

Carlos, I have to hand it to Maria, your girl has some avocadoes! Bigger than Ale's - I never saw him dare to join Montse in the shower when they were fighting; bigger than JL - for the same reason as Ale; bigger than Dimitrio - because, you know, he's Dim.
The girl is crazy, but you've got to admire her courage. I have a feeling she'll have some problems when Ale realizes who she is.

Madelaine, the tn is doing really well in Mexico, too. 27% Rating and 50% share - the increase has been slow, but steady. And since mexico is only about 10 episodes in advance, we'll be seeing what they see now soon enough.

Well, we knew she was a bitch, but holy cannoli what a CREEP. The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the pervy uncle.

I feel bad for Ale. Soap all over, closed eyes; I'm sure he would never have imagined that anyone, even pesky leech Maria, would be so bold as to climb right in the shower with him. Of course he thought it was Montserrat. At least for the few seconds we saw. If it went much further than that, my sympathy will plummet. It shouldn't have taken too long to realize this was someone else, even with his eyes closed.

What an amazing coincidence that Robledo is Prudie's brother. I'm not sure I trust her. She doesn't seem all that keen on JL, although her opinion might improve now that he is clean and wearing fresh clothes.

Dim and Josefina are delightful. She's going to be a force to be reckoned with once she develops some self-confidence. If he never gets his act together in this show, the two actors should play romantic partners in another series. Their scenes have such sparkle.

[Apologies if this is a double post, but the first seems to have disappeared into cyberspace.]

While waiting for the marvelous recap, I just wanted to make a brief comment.

I’m struck by the parallel between the JL/Angie relationship and that of Dimitrio/Josefina: Two women, each with a long-held, deeply felt, even desperate need for acknowledgement and acceptance, ask two men to meet that need for a limited period of time—one year in Josie’s case and probably only a few months in Angie’s. The response of each man (using the term loosely in the latter case) confirms and reinforces what we have already come to believe of their respective characters. It will be interesting to see whether subsequent developments cause us to change our minds. I have my doubts!

Otro Gringo

I like that Otro Gringo! I think Fina might be stealthily brilliant, keenly aware of what she wants in a "man", sees it in the Dim one and is slowly fine-tuning his responses til one day she will have him eating out of her hand. I can't forget that massage and how with just a few masterful strokes she had him heavy-lidded with desire and about to kiss her. I saw that look in his eyes and I see glimmers of it now! I think she might be maintaining the unibrow and slouchy clothes to keep him off balance and outwardly unaware that she's making inroads on his heart!

Lila

I hope that Monserrat raises her voice big time on Monday when I catch the aftermath of this one. I want to see her seize Malria by the hair, drag her out, and kick her clear to the opposite coast.

She should also revise a line from GWTW as in I've always thought a good lashing with a riding crop would benefit you immensely. and follow through.

I am concerned about what will happen when Capitan Robleto and JL encounter each other.

Josefina is still being pathetic.

There's nothing more insulting than the love of your life failing to notice when somebody's made a switcheroo with you. Come on, Ale, I'm counting on you to detect this ain't your mujer even with your eyes closed.

NM."bunkers of ironic detachment"....there are days that I could use one of those..and not just for frustrating telenovelas. Let's see..I could bring some kettle corn and raw veggies and dip. I would offer to bring chips, but I can't stop if I start eating them! whereas I am able to stop eating raw carrots and celery sticks.

I am pondering what I would do if I found Malria ...or anyone else in the shower with my sudsy hubby....it would not be pretty. Malria is looney.

Lila, I will join you and JudyB at the "hell in a handbasket" table. I can only imagine what is going to happen now, but if Montserrat does not get that FOOL Maria (Carlos, I hope you have your bag ready for your head!) out of her house immediately, then she will have no one to blame but herself for her misery.

...AND, if Ale allows that FOOL Maria (a nut job of the first order!), to stay in that house, then his value will plummet in my book.

Urban, I still can't figure out what Josefina plans to get out of this "trial" with Dimwit. I think he is not worth the trouble.

Best scene: Ale and Victor sitting on the steps drinking water while the idiot Dimwit works. I LOVED IT!!!

Fatima

Urban, Fatima and Susanlynn there should be some yellin', bitch-slappin' and ass-draggin' for sure going on! I did hear Montse say "either she goes or I go!" Fatima you are welcome at the "hell in a handbasket table" and remember the bunker down below for more intense needs for refuge! I may have to take to the bunker if Ale continues to let Maria stay in the house!

Lila

Madelaine, "BM " one of your best creations. You had her pegged from the start.

Aunty Ann, so true about the locks. The lack of privacy and the opportunity for shenanigans drives me crazy.

Julia, I loved your comment about "the rotten apple doesn't fall far from the pervie uncle".

I think most of us (except for those sitting at the Maria table-you know who you are) already knew Maria was capable of doing something so psycho because she is NUTS and needs to go bye bye ASAP. How? Where? Who cares?

The hell in a handbasket table sounds good to me.

Jarifa

I'm bringing some bruschetta, on black olive bread with some olio Olivia drizzled over that with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. How's that Anita? I know it isn't hot chocolate, but still join us please.

Ok, Mads, you got me. I can bring some Manchego cheese to nibble on.

Mads..yummmmmm I Will bring a big bottle of Asti Spumante to accompany your tasty offering.

I don't have the words to describe how I felt when I saw what BM was about to do at the end of Friday's epi. I am so glad that the Caray!Caray! community was here to express it so eliquently. I just kept shouting NO! NO! NO! NO! at the TV screen, but with the sound of the water the the music playing in the background Ale could not hear me.

Fatima,

ITA, the best scene of the night
"Ale and Victor sitting on the steps drinking water while the idiot Dimwit works. I LOVED IT!!!"

Jarifa,

BM is NUTS. I knew she was capable of doing some nasty things, like when she put on Montses' underwear. And I do recall that when she offered herself to Ale in his bedroom, he told her that if she pulled something like that again, she would have to go.

BTW,
Thanks to Tia Carlotta's big mouth now we know that BM receives a salary. Hmmmmm... And she says she is not a criada? Just an observation.

Back to work...hasta pronto!

I don't know that BM is "nuts", but she certainly is calculating. I really hate when men can't see through women like that.

AuntyAnn- We knew before that Maria receives a salary. It was mentioned a long time ago. But I'm glad that Tia pointed out, because Maria and Ale seem to have forgotten that she's supposed to be an employee. If she's just in the house as Ale's "family" then she shouldn't be getting a salary. If she's getting a salary, then she needs to WORK.

What do you want to bet that had Monse not walked in, Ale would have forgotten about his ultimatum that Maria would have to go if she pulled another stunt. And he wouldn't have told Monse either. He better not fight Monse on throwing Maria out of the house.

Yes, Alejandro may repudiate Maria. For about five minutes. (Not only did she jump him, but she is intending to attack Montse with the dirt on Graciela, i.e., that she was Benjamin's lover.)

But what happens when the body of the real Antonio Olivares has been identified and EZ lets that fact slip to Alejandro? (Since Pedro promised his wife he would say nothing, he instructs EZ to do it. Pedro is, after all, a man of his word)

Alejandro connects the dots, figuring out that JL was in his house all this time and Montserrat has been lying to him.

His rage at Montse may give Maria another opportunity. If she has been forced out of the hacienda, she will likely be able to tunnel her way back in.

Not to worry. The bunker is quite cosy and the refreshments are getting better and better.

THAT INSANE BITCH!!! Humph, I apologize for the outburst but I just finished watching the episode. The nerve of that beslubbering hedge-born hag! BM is too good a name for her.

Hurrah for Tia for giving Maria what for. Unfortunately it was yet another example of a pyrrhic victory because as a result nut job Maria knows more than she should.

Carlos, thank you for the drink. It's much appreciated. You do know we don't blame YOU for That Woman's dreadful deeds.

I just made some triple chocolate cookies that I'll bring to the bunker (carefully layered in my hell's handbasket) along with my bottle of Sailor Jerry's rum. I need the strong stuff after this episode.

Elvira, looking forward to your recap, but no rush.

BM is even more insane then Ximena from TDA and that is saying something.. BM deserves her fathers whip slapping even more now,rip Gaspar

Also ,maldita Tia you sit all day doing nothing but chatting and you cant bring yourself a scarf, you would have solved the disaster by simply doing that!

I make amazing shrimp bisque and I stuff a mean vine leaf.

Maria needed to go months ago and if Alejandro doesn't take a threat like "Either she goes or I go" seriously, he's out of his mind.

Speculation, not spoiler: Monserrat will go (temporarily) and hang with Josefina. The two of them will gather strength from helping each other. Carlota will probably go with them.

Cap'n Sylvia: "THAT INSANE BITCH!!! Humph, I apologize for the outburst but I just finished watching the episode. The nerve of that beslubbering hedge-born hag!" Preach Sister!

NovelaMaven, this is what I'm afraid of! "His rage at Montse may give Maria another opportunity. If she has been forced out of the hacienda, she will likely be able to tunnel her way back in." And this gives me comfort: "Not to worry. The bunker is quite cosy and the refreshments are getting better and better." Amen to Demetrios as well.

It will actually hurt if Ale takes refuge in Maria and Montse leaves! Just as I enjoy a warm fuzzy heart-based glow when telenovios are getting along, Maria and her ilk actually painfully churn my stomach and poor hubby and son have to endure my growling and cursing! Uuuuuf!

Somebody bring some tummy-calming tea (or hard liquor) to the "hell in a handbasket table" and the "bunkers of ironic detachment"!

Lila (oh no! anti-robot word is "Moses". . .bad omen, exodus for Montse!)

NovelaMaven, I'm afraid that what you have written will come to pass. I can see no other way out, UNLESS, Montserrat does leave and does what Urban speculates: move in with Fina. Might not be such a bad idea, but this would give Maria more power. I have no idea why Ale continues to be so weak when it comes to her. My only hope is that some day soon his MOTHER will set him straight.

Maria might not be a nut job, but there is something not quite right about stealing someone's underwear and then revealing it to said person's husband with the intent to have sex. Honestly, that still boggles my mind.

I think there must be some defective gene in Maria's family that allows for so much perversion to run rampant.

Lila, you are right. We might be headed to the bunker soon.

Aunty Ann, wasn't that the most hilarious scene ever with Dimwit falling carrying those rocks (or whatever it was) and the two handsome men sitting there talking. I really enjoyed watching those two MEN. What hunks!!!

Tomorrow will be exciting!!

Fatima

Lila, I am having a nice cup of manzanilla right now so I'll bring some down to the patio.

Jarifa

When Maria stole Monserrat's underwear Alejandro hadn't seen 90% of said intimate garments. He had no way of knowing that they actually belonged to his wife. She probably knew that.

Monserrat hasn't yet realized that they are missing. Does this mean she has six of every style? Nor has she realized that Maria ruined at least one of her dresses. Too bad Adolfo didn't rat her out on that one.

As to Maria revealing the not-so-secret affair between Benjamin and Graceless, that is something Monserrat is overdue to know about no matter where it comes from. I don't think it will make her relationship with her mother any worse at this point. However, it would put another burden on her to keep it from her father.

Which Dimwit could mess up. He doesn't give a flying damn for either Monserrat or their father.

There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm here for a Josefina makeover... really? Does she have a duty to prettify herself or would it be OK if she simply developed better survival skills?

Carlos

Carlos,

I think she already has them. Despite Dimwit thinking she's fea, she can massage and she cooks like a gourmet chef, she knows the way to a man's heart so to speak. If she keeps this up, she'll have him eating out of her hand in no time. She just needs to throw in a couple more massages, and wear him down : )

But WHY does Fina want Dimwit?! That is what I don't understand. In my view, Fina has no reason to be desperate. I think she is a lovely woman who deserves so much more than Dimwit could ever offer. I think there are things about him that are not redeemable. His willingness to repeatedly throw his sister under the bus is an example. What event in his life could transform these downright ugly feelings he has about his sister.

This part of the story really bothers me; this painting of Fina like she is a desperate woman. Maybe this is a holdover from the original story, but I had women being painted like they are desperate for any man.

Carlos, I applaud you for your question. Truth be told, I don't think there are many men who would even ponder the question you posed.

Fatima

...that should have been: "I HATE women being painted..."

Fatima

Yeah ,Finita deserves someone better then Dim but i think they will end up,together in the end just cause.. but i dont root for it to happen. She is acting pathetic like Dimwit is the only man left on the planet.

When Tomas truly loses patience with Dimwit ,he should go buy Agent Smith gear and smack him to misery! idk why but his looks ,hair remind me of Agent Smith its just me probably

http://m.imgur.com/3H4PKUD

Josefina should have a makeover because she deserves better than the image of "Plain Jane" (What is the actual Spanish version of that?) that her parents seem to have imposed on her. Since they're dead we'll never know why they did that but it isn't too late for her.

What I want to see is for her to get made over, Dimwit to go bonkers over her, and for her to kick him to the curb as she walks away with a Hot Guy With Serious Dinero.

Ok, Demetrios, you will have to join me at the "I don't want Fina to end up with Dimwit" table! :))))

Fatima

Of course! I see Dimwit being reformed in the end but i still hate the guy anyway, he caused so much pain to his own sister ,caused an heart attack on Lauro ( when he learned he never went to serve the Marina and confronted him about his dimwitingness) ,he ruined JLs life and so much more and he doesnt give a Dim about it.

Urban, Ok, I could go for that for our Fina. That sounds like a good solution.

Carlos, I still like your question. :))

Demetrios, we will have a good time at our table. :)

Fatima

Considering that he helped frame JL for a crime he didn't commit, I can't see redemption in his future, particularly since that had a domino effect on everything else that happened to JL since.

What could be a great thing would be for Josefina, Monserrat, and Nadia to go into business together with Josefina's money and ideas by the other two with a little help from Carlota. Then they could tell all the leeches to go to hell without the handbasket.

Urban, YES!!!! I like it!!!

Fatima

UA..maybe they could open a store like the sisters in FELS. Does anyone remember that someone came up with the name of the store...Crap from Afar. What could they sell?..makeup, clothing, lace tablecloths for people to wear as clothing, body wash for all the showering folks are doing, headbands to wear on your head or under the bust, fans, vests for Vestor, denim shirts for Ale, lipstick to make lucious, beestinged lips..

Actually I see them opening a deli or a restaurant. Josefina can cook, Monserrat can decorate, and Nadia might have a head for business. And if Rosario hasn't already outed herself to Alejandro they can seal her!

Oop; that's "steal."

Cannot wait, cannot wait for the recap. It's sure to be a zinger Elvira, thanks in advance.
I have always sided with and had a soft spot for the long-suffering JL, even in his most desperate and annoying times. This story is truly about his life lost, for love. Now he again puts his life in danger for love, albeit one-sided, and selfless this time.
Since JL's story seems so intense, I really appreciate AB's "princess-like" approach to her character, it serves as a great and warm foil in contrast to JL/Angies' plight.
I also love the villains (just as I did in Amor Bravio), even Dim with his disgusting, self-centered self is amusing, and Fina is a treat. The exception is BM who plays her part so deviously that we all dislike her. Carlos, I'll give her a mini pass since she plays the role so well that the appropriate doses of hate are pouring out of this blog in her direction.
Finally got to see the 6 minutes of love. There was really nothing there to censure. Oh well.

Gees, go away for a few days and looks what happens! Awesome discussion on events and as I have just watched the episode and carefully grabbed the nearest pillow to beat instead of throwing my Kindle at the wall...I will go right there with everyone on all the sentiments regarding BSC Maria.

The horrid feeling I have with her is that somehow, someway as the whole JL secret implodes she is STILL going to be able to worm her demented way into Ale's good graces. Just no...no no and no. I really hate when writers suddenly make the main squeeze go all stupid towards the villainess. I mean, c'mon. Maria is not even subtle. Sorry, Carlos, I just don't get it with this chick.

As for your question on Josefina. For me, I hate the way SHE feels herself to be something less than pretty or smart and the beat down she has gotten by the likes of Gravel-Gerty hasn't helped. I think she's a sweet woman and just hooked up with the wrong dude...but that said, I would just love for her to just once get the new do and put on something fashionable so afore-mentioned self-righteous dweebs have to pick up their jaws off the floor and she can do a little stomp dance on them. Nothing too violent but she deserves that "gotcha--so there".

Along with the rest of the goodies at the "HIAH" table, I whipped up some mini-blueberry cobblers today from the blueberries I picked last year and froze. Happy to bring...we need all the nourishment we can get. I have a feeling this is going to be a longgggggggg stay at the table.

Daisynjay

Cap'n::

Triple chocolate cookies and rum, yum!

DaisynJay:

Mini blueberry cobblers, my personal fave, double yum!

Jarifa:

Manzanilla tea, what a wonderful, calming, soothing effect that has.

Our bunker/table will be a great source of comfort in this trying time with BM.

Great work.

This absolutely will be Must-See TV tonight. I don't mind catching SHTF episodes.

It is more than time for Maria to get a bloody good hiding and her walking papers.

The whole thing with the expired ham and making Dimwit sick so he couldn't work was weird. Unless making him sick was meant to be Fina's revenge; that would have made sense.

Now, if the ham had been canned, expiration dates (at least in the US) are very conservative. I opened a can of tuna a few months ago with an expiration date of 2005 and it was perfectly OK.

If Rosario had outed herself she would by now have a voice in getting rid of Maria. I can't wait to see the little bitch's face when she realizes that Rosario is Alejandro's mother. Monserrat definitely suspects this.

Elvira, thank you for the terrific recap. I always enjoy your spin on the events and your wonderful sense of humor.

"Bitch Maria comes in to ruin everyone's day" and "She looks lifeless about it" were among my favorites.

Enjoyed all the comments.

Fatima, I suspect Josie must see something in Dim that has eluded the rest of us! :) As he didn't intentionally murder and even though his list of foul deeds and actions are reprehensible, I suspect redemption may be in his future - how could it not with such a strong, intelligent woman behind him?

And Madrina's brother? Could things get any worse for our star crossed couple? Let's hope a miracle occurs and that wedded bliss (however briefly) does occur.

Diana

Thanks, Elvira, for the great recap. I loved the "oh, no's".
Looks like we have at least two good confrontations coming up with Montse and the showering duo; then Montse and her mom. Should be fun.

Jarifa

Elvira,
Thanks for the recap.

Loved these lines:
"Hot damn, he's ready to get REALLY CLEAN in that shower now!"

"Poor Bitch Maria. No, not really."

"But the bitch's mood is ruined when she's told (with joyful relish) by Rosario that Ale got Monse knocked up! HA! Bitch Maria's face falls."

Let's hope that Angie and JL make it down the aisle. I am really liking this couple. They look cute together, and it doesn't look like JL has to force himself to kiss her. He genuinely seems to enjoy it.

Happy that Tia told BM off. Hated it when Dimi threw the food that Fina made him on the ground. What is his problem? He is going to eat his words one day. I hope Fina makes Dimi fall for her, then dumps him. Maybe then he will change. NOT!

Did I mention how much I hate BM? Well I can't stand the b**tch! She has crossed the line way too many times and has the avocadoes to ask Ale why he doesn't spend any time with her? Maybe because you nag him all the time! I knew BM was dirty, but getting in the shower with Ale is not going to get the stink off of her. NEXT!

Back to sleep...hasta pronto!

Thanks, Elvira.

Malria took that family photo into monymony's room. It looks like some secrets are about to be revealed.

Monymony kicked off her shoes to join Ale in the shower,,,,now that would have been a crowded shower. I still cannot believe MALria's unbelievable nerve..and malice. She certainly inherited something from her evil uncle . I get a big kick out of Tia. Her main job right now seems to be TRYING to put Malria in her place. So You're not a servant...but you are receiving a salary ? Where do I sign up both Tia and I are thinking !!!!! Malria is like a barnacle. You just cannot detach her from poor Ale. What part of NO don't you understand, Malria ????

The part with the expired ham made me laugh hard, you are a toad Dimmy and Toads die everyday!

Terrific recap Elvira. Well worth the wait and thank you for powering through amid your busy weekend.

Your description of BM as "hovering...and glowering" is absolutely perfect. She does glower. A lot.

Demetrios, I also laughed at the expired ham. It looks like our Josefina has a bit of a warped sense of humor. She absolutely altered the asymmetry of information at that point. One second he thinks he's paid her the ultimate insult (by throwing the food), the next he finds out she had actually intended to "poison" him. Be careful about insulting those who feed you Dimwit. I foresee a very interesting relationship if he decides to marry her for a year.

Thanks Elvira!!

Well Fina said i will make your life hell if you marry me..it will be interesting to watch who is stronger and more clever,Dimmy or Josefina.

BM is so twisted, sick in the head that idk how will she redeem herself, perhaps she would end up with Adolfo in the end?

Excellent recap, Elvira!

Can't wait till tonight's episode.

I just don't see how JL is going to escape Robledo. JL does have 9 lives, but if Robledo was willing to put him away and throw away the key back when he thought JL was only guilty of seducing Monse, killing the loan shark, and taking the loan shark's money-- now that his "crimes" also include killing the navy captain who was taking him to jail, impersonating Antonio Olivares (who he will soon learn was murdered), killing the police chief, and seducing and kidnapping Angelica, I just don't see how his sister is going to convince him to leave these crazy kids who are in love, in peace. He must REALLY trust and love his sister if she thinks she can convince him that JL is a good man who shouldn't be locked up.

List of JL’s supposed crimes:

1) Seducing Monse for her money. Not true. He was in love, but didn’t have the avocadoes to confront her family at the time.
2) Killing Bruno and taking his money. Not true. Dim accidentally killed Bruno in a struggle, and the money was given to JL by Monse.
3) Killing the navy captain. Not true. Refugio did it to save JL’s life.
4) Coming soon—Killing the real Antonio. Not true. Juvie’s minions did it on his orders.
5) Impersonating Antonio. True.
6) Killing Police Chief Loreto. True. He did it to save Ale’s life.
7) Seducing Angelica and kidnapping her. Not true. That was ALL Angelica.

He is so far guilty on 3 crimes, imoersonating Antonio, killing Loreto and remember he still escaped from prison, regardless of these injustices he shouldnt have escaped at all, that makes the matter worse, but im sure Madrina would be able to make his terrible past go away.

I'm not so sure. What I can see happening is she can persuade her brother to leave him alone... until Angelica dies. That's what I can see him agreeing to.

How they will protect them from Joaquin and (worse) Pedro is another story.

I dont know how but its going to be tough, once Ale knows the secret, the entire world will be against JL especcialy after Angelica would eventually die. Proving that JL didnt killl Antonio is going to be quite hard as well, they can find witneseses ( Juventinos accomplices) but since when does the witneses word even count on real court, especially in a murder case.

Elvira:

Splendid recap! It was well worth the wait!

Loved all your oh, noes, and the BM remarks.

BM has constantly crossed the line with Ale. It's time for her to go. If he gives BM a pass this time, he's dense.

I don't know how the Madrina is going to convince her brother, Capitan Robledo, that JL is a good guy either. Poor JL has been accused of all these crimes so to speak. Especially the killing of LT Avenella. I'm hoping that Capitan Robledo at least listens to JL's side of things. If he hauls JL back to jail, it will make Angie really ill. Will the Capitan risk that?

I too liked Dimwit working, it's probably the only honest work he's done in some time. I think Fina kind of thinks of Dimwit as "Operation Conquer", she wants to find a way to his heart. The massages and the bruschetta seemed to be working in a way. He is looking at her differently, like maybe there is more to her than what he sees. I don't know if Dimwit will be redeemed, but I think Fina is going to give this project of hers everything she has. I can't wait to see what Fina does next.

I too wonder what Pedro has up his sleeve with Antonio Olivares' body. Pedro and EZ are so crooked, I wonder what they will cook up next.

Ale keeps bringing up Antonio Olivares' sister. He brought her up the first time JL/Ant disappeared. He's brought her up again. She is the real Antonio Olivares' sister and contacting her will start the crap hitting the fan I think.

Elvira, thanks again for this most marvelous recap!

Since i seen 5-10 episodes ahead of you, i will lead you to your own conclusions but yes the body of the Real Antonio Olivares will have a key role soon.

Elvira - Thanks a bunch. Fun revisiting the episode through your recap.

Fina is okay with Dim being a lazy bum? I'd like to see a self-esteem makeover for her first. Besides, I've grown fond of her awkward, gangly look. For me, a little tweeze there, a trim here, and some form-fitting pants will do it.

Robledo abused his authority and broke rules when he prohibited JL from having visitors or legal counsel. His sister seems smarter and steelier than he, so I'm still hoping she can make this boda happen. But I do hope JL bought some running shoes!

Dear Elvira,

Thanks so much for the fabulous and funny recap, which I have been looking forward to reading.

Loved all your asides, especially about the situation with Ale, Montse, and the ever lurking Maria:
"He's the happiest man on earth and he won't bother her with his insecurities and jealousies. (We'll see how long this lasts!) We see Bitch Maria hovering somewhere glowering at their happiness."

This is wonderfully phrased! There were other many fantastic asides, especially about Maria.

Thanks to all for expressing your feelings about the last scene--god, it was awful!

Daisynjay: I really with you on the your comment that you don't like it when the writers have the hero start falling for the main female villain. It really is one of the most painful parts of any TN for me, and I'm afraid Maria is going to get her way with Ale for a while when the truth about J-L comes out, which it has to eventually!

NovelMaven: Love your suggestion about huddling in the Bunker of Ironic Detachment. My comfort to myself in these trying times is to repeat, "I'm just watching this for the Spanish. I'm just watching this for the Spanish."

Elvira--Always a pleasure to read one of your recaps at any time day or night. I ditto all the best lines.

My, my, "Much joy as they trill on about the kid." I haven't had the occasion to use the word "trill" in eons, but it went so perfectly here. (Must find a way to incorporate it into my vocab again.)

Aunty Ann's comment was priceless: "I knew BM was dirty, but getting in the shower with Ale is not going to get the stink off of her. NEXT!" I say, NEXT, too. Let the SHTF.

Susanlynn--always the right word to produce the right image: "Malria is like a barnacle. You just cannot detach her from poor Ale." (This one belongs more appropriately on Rick's pirate ship, tee hee. I'm enjoying your comments on Pasion recaps. Nay matey, they are LOL moments.)

Vivi--Thank you for your always getting to the essence (and I don't mean that Stink of BM's) of things and sharing with those of us whose light bulbs aren't as bright as yours.

About Fina's two-pronged campaign. I don't think she really used bad ham, but she could have! If she truly felt sorry for all the work he was doing, it was a cruel, but effective way for Dim to avoid a couple of days work.

OTOH, she's enjoying keeping him off balance with her devotion and devotion to making his life miserable for a year. She could have come up with the story after he threw the food on the ground. Either way, the man does like to eat well and she's getting it.

It looked to me like in the avances Mons says either she goes or I go. If not, she should. Maria crossed the last line, and I give up on Ale is he still allows her to stay.

Gracias, Elvira! Fast and on-the-fly doesn't hurt your sense of humor any.

I don't think Fina really used bad ham, and I don't think it would have made Dim sick even if she did (because spoiled food doesn't usually cause illness, it's just gross, and he would taste that it was nasty and not eat much of it), but I liked that little mind game she was playing with him. I like that this spunky side of her is coming out.

Tia is likeable in many ways, but she can also be really thoughtless. Fina confides in them her fears about how she is aging and will probably end up alone with no husband or children...and Tia Carlota responds to that by gushing about Montserrat's baby?! The baby she's having with the great catch she snared when she wasn't even interested in marrying him? That was not very nice.

So much talk of food and drink in the comments makes me wonder if it's the frustrating TN or the weather. Maybe it was the expired ham that caused the mention of:wine spritzers, Xocolata caliente, churros, raw veggie dip, chips, celery stick, raw carrots, bruschetta, black olive bread, prosciutto wrapped cantalope, manchego cheese, Asti Spumanti, chocolate cookies, Sailor Jerry's rum, tummy calming tea, cup of manzanilla, mini blueberry coblers and, last but not least, a can of expired (2005!) tuna.

We'll have an eclectic buffet in the Bunker, to be sure. I'll join y'all there if Ale doesn't ship Maria out on the first boat to Timbuktu. I'll bring hummus and fresh-baked pita bread with tomatoes and feta. That's my favorite comfort food.

Thanks, Elvira, for starting the dialogue going and then you're great recap. It was lacking for nothing!

I fear, as NM, DaisynJay and others have mentioned, that this whole shower scene does not bode well for Montsy. My twisted TN logic is that Maria ain't never leavin the hacienda. There has to be a villain who torments our protagonists and Maria is it. The only way she could do something so completely outlandish and NOT get ousted would be if there were a huge distraction coming right up. And I think we all know what that would be: Monsys big anvil with JLs initials carved on it. Yikes!!!!

The upside to Maria's fatal attraction shower scene is that there are now witnesses to her psycho behavior. And I can't imagine even naive Ale would defend Maria with his usual "family friend" nonsense.

I got a sense when Madrina called Robledo and asked him to the wedding she knew exactly what she was doing and is nobody's fool. She must have some strategy or she wouldn't have made such a bold move.

Thanks again, Elvira. I can't WAIT for tonight

Nanette--Thank you for your most recent HPLP list. I kinda wish you would reverse the order and put the LP first. After all the happiness they chalked up in the HP list, we have to plow through the LP list--definitely a downer. Couldn't you leave us with a little upper at the end?

OMG "your" great recap! Curse you, auto-correct!

Anita: what a great idea!! I should have thought of that. From now on I'll reverse the list order.

hi. I am just catching up on the latest comments.

Nanette..you always amaze me with you detailed lists.

Well, in a few hours, we will get to see Monymony's
reaction to Malria showering with her studly hubby. If I were Monymony , before Malria knew what was happening, she'd be standing out in the hallway dripping wet. LARGATE, BRUJA. !!!

The hallway? I'd throw her out of the house without letting her stop to grab her clothes. She can sit out on the road thinking about what she's done while the housekeeper who never talks packs up her things and sends them out to her.

Thanks for the recap, Elvira and to all the responders for fabulous comments.
Cap'n Sylvia--"beslubbering hedge-born hag" a purely Shakespearean insult. Loved it!

Too much going on to turn away from this one--waiting for tonight.

Trust me, amigos; this is definitely Must-See TV!

I am waiting Urban for your take on this. Believe me, I AM WAITING!!!!

Elvira, thank you again for such a wonderful recap!!

Fatima
