MARIDO – LUNES – Part 1 of 3

Griselda embraces Pati and sincerely thanks her for getting Vanessa to tell the truth. She ruefully says that she needs to start believing in people and to stop with la turquedad que me carcome y no me deja vivir. (The stubbornness that undermines me and doesn’t let me live fully.) Pati tells her that her father Reinaldo is also a bit bitter because he believed what Teresa Cristina told him about her going back to Gabriel. Gris exclaims that they’re a pair of fools.

We see front-page headlines that say that Beatriz Lobo has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Alba Perkins. Elio says that at least she looks good in the picture, and Alba rolls her eyes.

Gabriel has come to see Esther. She starts to explain about the embrace he saw at Fina Estampa, but Gabe very directly asks her what place he has in her life.

Daniel shows up to tell Sol, Celeste, and Manuel that 700,000 people have seen the video. Manuel groans and says he’ll never be able to show his face on the street again.

Esther asks Gabe how he can ask her this. He’s the man who helped her when she decided to have a child. He is the man who showed her there are many kinds of love. This isn’t enough for Gabe. He tells her that, when he stops to think about it, some puzzle pieces of the relationship don’t fit. And he thinks he’s the odd piece out. Esther tells him that Juan Pablo was only consoling her. Gabe asks her if he’s only someone to help her out or if he’s her man! A very pertinent question indeed. He goes to settle a fussy Victoria while Esther looks confused.

Ríos tells Reinaldo that he has some great news. When Rei comes to the station, the detective shows him the surveillance tapes he got from the hospital and that clearly show Fernando Sosa trying to get into the Intensive Care room where Marcela was. Ríos points out that the nurse who subsequently disappeared preventing him from getting in. Reinaldo tells Ríos he knows just where to find the guy. He’s the head of security at TC’s condo. Ríos says he’s the key to unraveling this knot. A fishy looking guy is eavesdropping.

Max invites Clara to dinner at Rey Gourmet. He also tells her she’s beautiful. She wonders to herself if maybe Susana was right about Max’s interest in her.

The sneaky looking guy at police HQ calls Fernando and tells him Ríos knows that he was somehow involved with the death of Marcela. The very next scene is Fernando telling all to TC. He says that Ríos is after him. She first says she’s thinking, and then says she has nothing to do with the whole thing. And, what’s more, what is he even talking about. Fer isn’t buying this. He says he’ll tell Ríos everything was done under her orders. He then shows her the pocket tape recorder and says he recorded every single conversation in the sauna. TC sputters some and appears not to believe him.

MARIDO – LUNES – Part 2 of 3

Fernando then plays back the recent conversation where she says that, of course, she ordered him to kill Amalia, Quique and Antonio; and it would have been successful if she’d done it herself. She totally loses it and starts hitting him. He tells her that, if he goes down, she goes down with him. He wants her to think up a way out for both of them.

After Ríos and Reinaldo head for where they think they’ll find Fernando, the inside-the-cop-shop rat calls Fer and tells him they’re on their way. Fernando tells TC that he’ll have to go away; but, of course, will need money to do so.

Sol sneaks out of her house while her parents doze on the sofa. She’s wearing a sexy outfit and goes straight to the posada. Daniel tries to be a gentleman and fend her off, but she says she’s more than ready to be his. She’s scooped up and into his room they go.

Gabe has the magic touch with Veronica and has soothed her. But he tells Esther she left him out of the whole drama with Beatriz. She promises never to leave him on the outside again. There’s a knock, scaring Esther. But it’s Juan Pablo, who gives Gabe an uncomfortable look.

Ríos finds out that Fernando asked for some time off, but he thinks he can catch up with him.

TC has come back to the Palmer Mansion and finds José waiting for her in her bed. He pours her some wine and insinuates some good times are coming. She asks him if he’d do anything for money. José: “For a lot, yes.” TC: “Say, kill someone?” José: “Huh?” Who were you thinking of?” TC: “Yes or no!” She tells him he could never find such a generous and elegant woman. José doesn’t like where this is going and assumes “The Thinker” pose.

Juan Pablo tells Gabe he came to speak with Esther about an emergency at work. Gabe says, speaking of work, I need to get back to mine. He asks if JP would be willing to change some diapers! JP protests that he didn’t come here for that.

Paloma, Diosa, Penny, and Gigante are seated at a table at the posada. They seem to already know something is up about Fernando. Ríos shows up. He first tells Reinaldo that he can’t be involved in the questioning, and then says he needs to speak with Iris. When he knocks on her door, she half jumps out of her skin.

José is about to leave TC’s bedroom. She tries to keep him there. He finally comes out with it. “How much would you pay?” TC: “It would be more than you ever dreamed of on any day in your miserable life.” José: “A million?” TC says that sounds reasonable. José: “Yes, for that I’d do anything. By the way, who is the future dead person?” TC: “Not now, but you will know in the correct moment.” He hurries out, not even wanting to kiss her goodbye!

Ríos has a conversation with Iris and Fernando. Iris, stupidly, says she doesn’t know anyone named Fernando. Ríos reminds her that Fernando lives in the same posada and, furthermore, is head of security at TC’s condo. He leans toward her and tells her that, if she knows where Fernando is and doesn’t cooperate, she’ll be an accomplice.

MARIDO – LUNES – Part 3 of 3

Gabe having left, Esther and JP do a little dance. She tells him that she and Gabe were discussing his discomfort seeing the two of them embracing at Fina Estampa. He blurts out that he was only consoling her. Esther looks at him carefully and says that sometimes he seems like the man she used to know and sometimes he seems like a gross person. He replies that life hardens people. She gets right to the point: “At what point in our relationship are we?” JP: “At the point in which there is no more ‘us’. We are simply business partners, and I’m not going to participate in the other part of your life.” [If she still ends up with him after this, I’m buying a ticket to Miami to picket Telemundo’s offices!]

Iris comes to tell TC that Ríos is looking for Fernando at the posada. She says that she and Mario kept her secret. We hear a cash register sound and know what’s coming. Mario even sneaks upstairs after TC and overhears her verbalizing the combination to her lockbox while she punches the keys.

Quique is remembering the scene with Bárbara when she was so insulted he asked for a DNA test and her then telling him he was worthless.

Vanessa tells Ro she’s going back to live with her parents. She wants to continue with her education, but she has some things to learn; such as, one gets things with effort, hard work and faithfulness, not lies and ambition. Ro is overjoyed.

Griselda is anxiously awaiting Reinaldo’s arrival. I was wondering if I’d missed something when I realized that he had been staying there recuperating from the bullet wound.

Hearing the front door Gris excitedly thinks it’s Reinaldo, but it’s Quique and Quiquito. After sending his son up to take a bath, Quique spills the news about Bárbara’s pregnancy and not knowing if it’s his or not. He also tells Griselda that the cops are after Fernando, and that cameras caught him outside Intensive Care at the hospital.

At Rey Gourmet a photographer wants to take a picture of Max and Clara. She tells Max that Susana won’t like that one bit, and goes on to tell him about Susana’s showing up at Tacos Bar and raving at her. Max tells her he had nothing with Susana, and since he’s gotten to know her, only thinks of her. Awww!

Reinaldo doesn’t really know what’s up. He tells Griselda that he’s ready to return to the hotel (thinking she wants him out of there). But she says that, if he goes there, to take her with him so that they can be together the whole night. His face lights up as he realizes the nightmare is over. They kiss.

Novelera- Excellent recap. It felt like things finally started happening again.

Loved Clara and Max. Now, let's see a kiss between those two.

I don't know what the writers plan for the Gabe-Ester-JP triangle. Gabe was right to want clarity. And in my mind, there's no doubt that he's Vicky's daddy. If Ester were to get back with JP, I would always see him as a reluctant step-father, and I would expect Gabe to maintain the #1 father spot, even if he wasn't the boyfriend anymore.

Gris didn't have to beg. *grumble, grumble* But I'm glad she learned a lesson, and it was nice to see Rei so happy again.

Thank you, Novelera!

Vivi, I was dissapointed Rei took Gris back so fast, too. What was that?
Anyway, I hope they stay together for good this time.

NovelaMaven, I'd very much like to have a special page for next week's finale, especially since it will be only one show and then it's over.
But maybe we should hear from Novelera, too, she is most likely to be in charge of the recap since it's her day.

NM--I'm still in transit, so I will not be able to recap tomorrow--Wednesday. I hope to be able to catch up with this wild and crazy ride when I get home.
Anita

Adriana,

I suspect that Novelera would prefer a page for the last episode too. But let's wait for her to weigh in.

Anita,

Thanks for letting us know you won't be able to recap Wednesday's show.

Does anyone want to volunteer to write about Wednesday? It would be nice to have all the episodes covered in the final week. Bullet points would be just fine. (I can't do it -- I haven't been following this one.)

Yes, I would like to have a Marido link posted for the final which, conveniently, is my recapping night.

If we don't get a volunteer between now and Wednesday, I'll do a quick and dirty one.

Novelera:

Okay -- I will post a separate page for the final episode next week.

Thanks for volunteering for Wednesday in case no one comes forward.

Totally off topic, but I just found out that Monica Spear, Bianca from Pasion Prohibida, just died.
Shot in her car, in Venezuela.
I'm speechless, I truly can't believe this!

Wow! That's crazy, Adriana. So many of our tn stars and their families have often been the victims of kidnappings and violent crimes in their countries. Being high profile in some of these places is NOT a good thing.

Just read a story on her death. Even more tragic, as her ex-husband was also killed and they were killed in front of their 5 year old daughter. So sad! We should share it on the other two Telemundo posts.

http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2014/01/07/22216314-venezuelan-soap-star-monica-spear-mootz-husband-murdered?lite

Vivi and Adriana, I actually put up a link earlier on The Front Page. It just seemed that our little community needed to know.

I read the excruciating details, too. This is truly awful.
I loved Bianca in PP, I was so looking forward to seeing Monica's next part....
Wow... this is truly heartbreaking for me.

MARIDO Tuesday Part 1/3

Gris and Rei are happy happy happy, kissing and promising never to let anyone or anything interfere between them – not Vanesa, not TC, nobody. They end up smooching in bed.

Esther calls Gabe, he tells her he doesn’t think he’ll be back at her house for the night. She looks worried.

Max and Clara are at her place, after having spent a noche magnifica together. As Leo watches them from a corner, they say goodbye and gaze at one another some more.

The next day, Sol gets out of Daniel’s room at the posada; they exchange “I love you’s”, Daniel asks if she’s willing for another round (smooth, Dan, really smooth), but Sol has to hurry home.
Celeste is waiting for her, Sol explains she’s been with Daniel – her first time!!! They hug just as Manuel comes in, but he doesn’t realize Sol didn’t spend the night home.

At the Carrasco mansion, Amalia&Rafa and Tony&Paty and Kikito are having breakfast. Paty has a big appetite (God, is she pregnant again?), Amalia cooked a good meal for once. Rei and Gris come down, blissfully happy and the kids are all glad the parents got some last night.

The only one not home is K, who is at Barbie’s, wanting to talk about her pregnancy. She refuses to talk to him, though. First, she runs upstairs, but when he follows her, she says that she really is pregnant, but the kid is not his – she slept with some guy on the beach for money. She only said he was the father because she wanted to trick him one more time, but as it turns out, he’s not that stupid.
The lie is so big and so obvious, you’d think that even K is smart enough to see right through it – but no, he totally believes this and leaves, looking all hurt and betrayed, while Barbie is left sobbing on her bed.

As Fer is killing time on a boat (apparently his own), Jose and Elio show up on the dock, too. Jose is thinking about the little job TC will ask of him in exchange for the million dollars he asked. He seems a little unsure for now, but I do believe he is capable of murder.
Elio is not seeing Alba today and he and dad spend some quality time together, talking about the possibility of Jose taking TC on a cruise on his boat and giving her a lot of robalo in the process. Nothing like father-son bonding, I guess.

MARIDO Tuesday, Part 2/3

Gris and Rei FINALLY find the way to the police station and open their mouths. Gris is still reluctant to talk, she doesn’t trust the detective, but Rei assures her of his honesty, so she tells the guy how all her kids have been in danger at one time or another because of TC.
We don’t see her actual declaration, but we are led to believe that she did talk about everything that has happened. When she’s done, the detective is shocked, he says all this information will help him tie some loose ends – the investigation will continue!

TC is home, alone, feeling rather outraged by the fact that Fer would dare to record her. Later, Ro tells her that Vanesa left to be with her parents. TC is once again unhappy, suspecting that Vanesa is betraying her, but Ro assures her Vane only went home because her mom is sick. He also swears once again that he would never do anything against her and notices that they are all alone.
TC appreciates Ro’s fidelity, especially now that everyone has turned their backs on her.
Cue for Paty to show up, trying to reason with TC one more time. She accuses TC for having done some awful things, TC asks for proof. Tony is with Paty, too, thinks Paty shouldn’t waste her breath.
Paty thinks that her mom needs psychological help, which prompts TC to scream again that she’s not crazy. Even more, if at one time she told Paty that she needed her, that’s not the case anymore – she never wants to see her again, she is no longer her daughter, she’s a traitor and she better leave now.
Paty looks crushed, but she doesn’t say anything as Tony takes her out of there and Ro watches a very content TC in disbelief.

Iris and Mario hijinks – about TC’s secret code for the safe where she keeps all her money.

Max has a press conference (with a proud Clara and Leo in attendance) to let everyone know that he’s going back on the ring. The pesky journalist wants to know if he’s cured from his heart condition, Max assures everybody that he’s just fine; besides, what better honor than to die on the ring, like a fighter (has Max learned anything in the last 100 episodes? I guess not!)
The guy he fought the last time, Jorge Muralla, crashes the press conference, to accept Max’s challenge – they will be fighting together. Whatever…

Fer tries to reach TC on the phone, but she doesn’t answer back, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. He puts on his disguise (a cap and sun glasses!) and leaves with his boat.

At Rei Gourmet Paty is telling her father about her latest fight with TC. She feels very bad, but both Rei and Tony think TC is very sick and needs to be in jail.

MARIDO Tuesday Part 3/3

Gabe leaves the taco bar and Diosa mentions how he slept there, so that means he and Esther must be having some troubles.
Gabe goes to see Gris, tells her that he witnessed a very close hug between Esther and JP and he’s sure they are still in love and will get back together. He thinks that when two people love each other, it becomes obvious and all he can do is step aside.
Gris tries to give him some comfort, advises him to talk to Esther because maybe what he saw was just a big misunderstanding. He should not make the same mistake she did with Rei (and she tells him about Vanesa’s scheme). To demonstrate, she gives him a big, tight hug, saying that if Esther were to come in now, she would think bad things, too. So he has to talk with his lady love and he can be sure that Gris will always be his friend, no matter what.

Esther is at Fina Estampa, when JP comes to talk to her about getting a lawyer. She hasn’t gotten one yet, because she feels this would be an admittance of guilt (come on, an educated person like Esther can’t think that!). JP reminds her that Bea is suing Alba and is starting a maternity case thingie, so she better protect herself.
Esther promises to think about it and asks why he’s so worried for her now. For Fina Estampa, he promptly replies; she works there and if she’s in trouble, the business might suffer, even if so far she’s done her job perfectly. He even offers to call the lawyer for her, which Esther appreciates.
So, he says all this and I almost believe him, because he’s basically a douche.
But somehow I don’t, he really cares about Esther, so poor Gabe will end up losing another love…

Iris and Mario come to see TC; they end up in her room, just when she receives a call from Fer (he is in her sauna, asking her to come meet him). TC asks them to leave, Iris pretends she has back pains and manages to stay in the room after TC leaves.
They start working on the safe in their own, idiotic, slow motion way, just as Ro knocks at the door. They manage to hide what they are doing before Ro gets inside.

TC meets Fer in the sauna, he asks her for money if she wants him gone. She will give him money, but he has to do one more thing for her, first (what, almost kill someone else?). Fer mentions that he came in his boat, which is somehow important for TC, this works well with some other plan she’s concocting. She gives Fer some money and asks him to wait for her call. Run, Fer, RUN!

Gris is at work, saying goodbye to Gabe, when the detective calls her with good news. What could it be, what could it be?

Thanks so much Adriana.

Quique really is too dumb for words. Barbie's story was so obviously a lie. I worry for the intelligence of a Barbie-Q baby, but Kikito seems to be ok in that department, so hopefully baby #2 will be too. Before I feel sorry for Barbie, I remind myself of how awful she was-- abandoning her child to go live the good life all those years, and counting on the death of Max to make her a rich widow. Her current torment is well deserved, and it is making her a better person.

The writers really did not do much with the reconciliation, but whatever. It's nice to see Rei so happy, and he deserves it.

Thanks so much, Adriana. Really good recap.

Yeah, I'm also bracing myself for them to have a big character switcheroo for Juan Pablo and for he and Esther to be reunited.

I thought the scene with Gris and Gabe was very well done by the two of them. It probably helps that they are (or were) a couple. When he told her he could tell those two were still in love, it seemed to me to be the end for Gabe's hopes. People always do know these things, don't they. Human instinct is an amazing thing.

Wow, TC is so warped she managed to override a million years of evolution telling women to care about their children for the safe rearing of helpless human babies. She cheerfully wrote off her own offspring when it suited her.

I'm pulling for the Gabe-Esther thing to work out. Just because JP still loves Esther doesn't mean that he's willing to take on a baby. It'd be a nice change to have him make the wise decision that if being a parent isn't for him, he should give up Esther and baby once and for all. I know Marcia works for him, but she's a pretty good catch, if Simon doesn't meet her first. Maybe JP can hook up with Carol. Is she still dying or what?

MARIDO – MIÉRCOLES

Here’s a brief recap. We get a little humor at the start when Ro interrupts Iris and Mario searching for TC’s lockbox. He foils them and snatches the box away.

The big surprise that Ríos has is that he has grabbed up Carla, the hottie who drugged Quique. Q and Gris recognize her right away. She tries to brazen it out, but doesn’t hold out very long. She tells them that Fernando put her up to it, saying it was a prank. [Pretty outrageous that she gets away with drugging someone just by ratting someone else out.] She also gives up Fernando’s cell number. On her way out, Quique asks her if Fernando was there while the two of them were poolside. She admits he was lurking there the whole time.

José grills TC about what she’s having Fernando do, since said Fer is now wanted by the police. He adds two and two and comes up with TC being in a very tight spot.

Ríos manages to get a fast intercept of Fernando’s cell and hears TC tell him to kill a gorilla woman. Later Rei tells him exactly who she means. Ríos says he doesn’t have enough yet to offer Gris police protection.

At Casa José, Bárbara tells him that she’s leaving. She then calls Quique and asks him to come by.

Griselda tells Paloma she’s prepared for whatever TC does next.

Bárbara is in tears when Quique arrives, and she tells him she’s leaving and leaving Quique with him.

Rei begs Gris to get a bodyguard, but she actually laughs at that. She says she knows that she’s the bait. She wants to walk free, actually tempting TC to try something. Otherwise, she says, the torture will just go on and on. Rei puts the question Viewerville would: “What if she succeeds (in killing Gris)? Griselda just has blind confidence in her ability to have things go her way.

After Barbie tells Q she’s leaving, he concludes she’s found another rich guy, and he looks like a sad little boy saying it. Sobbing she tells him she’s leaving Quiquito and going off with her baby. This is a very sad scene.

When Q tells Gris, she says she’ll go to see her. Bárbara won’t tell Gris where or why she’s going. She hysterically says that they won’t let her live with her son. But Gris reminds her that the judge limited her time with her son because she abandoned him when he was a baby.

Gabe tells Esther he knows that she and JP are still in love. He says he can’t go through unrequited love again. She tells him she would not go be with a man who hated her daughter. But he sadly says they need time apart and bids a tearful goodbye to Victoria.

Bárbara maintains to Griselda that the baby is not Quique’s. She says she’s leaving and won’t answer any questions. Gris says she has already answered her.

When Gris comes to Rey Gourmet, she asks Rei to kiss her right there. They get a big round of applause from the staff.

José comes back to Casa Palmer. From their expressions and conversations in the Living Room, it looks like róbalo is on the menu tonight.

"looks like róbalo is on the menu tonight", lol! I've never watched a novela with so much reference to a man's "robalo". Funny at first, now it's just tacky.

Barbara has some nerve calling Q "una porquería". Aside from being a dumbie, he's been both mother and father to their child while she was living the good life with another man. Infidelity is one thing but abandoning a child for luxury is close to unforgivable. No wonder he has trouble believing her.

Josie

Thanks Novelera. I haven't had a chance to see the episode yet, but it seems like they are continuing to move the plot.

Josie- Like you, the memory of what Barbie actually did prevents me from really feeling sorry for her. But I've always felt that Quique just needs to let go of the past-- whether or not he makes up with Barbie-- for his sake and Kikito's sake. I worry for another child coming into this messed up relationship.

GENERAL

I wanted to post something about the sad, sad death of Mónica Spear. I found out about it from NovelaMaven’s post here on Caray. I just felt gutted. News accounts with interviews of her parents stated that she had been robbed before in Venezuela. Her parents had urged her not to go there any more. But she had a strong love of her country and refused to stop visiting.

I first saw her in Flor Salvaje. I really, really liked that novela and thought she was terrific in it. I recapped many episodes and never tired of watching it. I read La Novia Oscura, the source novel by Laura Restrepo.

I didn’t like Pasión Prohibida quite as much. I watched about ¾ of it and then just stopped. Mónica was excellent in that role as well.

Anyway, a beautiful person and her ex-husband were killed. A child has lost both her parents. The only good that can possibly come of this would be having the Venezuelan government shamed into some crime prevention. I was shocked to read that there were 70 murders in Venezuela the FIRST WEEK of January.

A young woman who works down the hall told us that she knew Monica Spear at the University of Central Florida. She said that Monica was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen, but very humble and unaware of her beauty, and was the first one to reach out and make friends.

Novelera, Monica Spear's death nearly broke my heart, too.
I LOVED her as Bianca, she was such a fresh face for me, one of my new favorites.
And the way she died was so tragic and senseless... sometimes there are just no words left to say when things like this happen.

From USA Today:

Roberto Briceño Leon, who heads the Observatorio Venezolano de Violencian (OVV), a non-government group that monitors crime in the country, says 24,763 murders were committed last year in Venezuela, population 29 million. That's well above the 14,612 intentional homicides committed in 2012 in the United States, a country of 316 million.

Venezuela has a murder rate of close to 79 per every 100,000 inhabitants, making it fourth in the world behind Honduras, El Salvador and Ivory Coast, according to the latest figures compiled by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime.

****
So tragic about Monica Spear. Senseless, as all murders are.

General
I was so shocked when I saw the sad news about Monica Spear, it felt like a very personal loss. So sad. Some of her costars were interviewed on Al Vivo Rojo, it seems she was a genuinely kind and warm person.

THURSDAY pt 1
Today's show brought to you by redemption. Because it can't be stated enough that people can change. Because they can change. CHANGE!

Rei and Gris at the restaurant toasting their happiness, all goopy in love. She suddenly realizes that all the clients are gone. He closed it for their private party. Simon takes his leave and they dance while the theme song plays, although I don’t think they can hear it. He’s going to fix her a dinner with a course for every table and he wants a kiss for every table too. Hope he’s ok with her getting fat. More smooching and googly eyes.

Jose in TC’s bed. Is she ready to enjoy the robalo? Yep, and all the condiments that go with it. And seabass is ruined for me forever. They get it on.

What’s her name that druged Kike is at the posada looking for Fer. He isn’t answering calls and she’s wondering where he is.

He answers TC’s call. She wants a meeting while the cops listen in. She tells him the time for todo o nada has arrived. Then Fer gets another call from the drug girl who’s calling from a payphone. He answers this time and she warns him that the cops are listening. NOW will they put her in jail? He takes the battery out of the phone and tosses in the ocean. POLLUTER ALERT, on top of everything else. And then he throws the phone in.

Kike and Gris talk about Barbara. She asks him to think about the consequences of Barb leaving. Her next husband could be allowed to adopt the baby.

Barb tells her lawyer that she’s going to New York and will look for a different life. She’s going to try to get over this tristeza and she thanks the lawyer for her help and gives her a super abrazo goodbye.

Gris talks to Amalia and Rafa about people changing. Rafa knows all about that. He never could have done it without Amalia’s love. Gris says, yeah, people need the support of loved ones if they want to change and Barb will need Kike.

Barb and Kikito at Taco’s Bar for dinner. Clara and Kike watch from a distance. Clara thinks that Barb deserves another chance and tries to convince Kike of this.

TC waits for Fer in the sauna. She laughs and asks who would believe his disguise. It’s a hat and sunglasses. (If he really wanted to hide, he should get a hair cut and put on a suit). The same ole she doesn’t ask, she orders thing. He asks why she hates Gris so much. She blames Griselda for all her unhappiness. Then she goes into a rant about Gris and may or may not actually remember that she’s talking to Fer, who finally asks if she isn’t exaggerating a bit. She thinks not. He lets her know that the cops are listening but she thinks they would never do that to Teresa Cristina Palmer Silva. Fer finally realizes that she might be nuts.

After he leaves she mentions a house in the Virgin Islands that no one knows about.

Jose and Barb talk. He thinks she’s a changed person. “Is that what you think, Captain of the Titanic?” He leaves her with Kikito snuggled up asleep next to her. She’s crying.

THURSDAY part 2

Kike tells the dinner table that she’s leaving. He’s cool with it but the group (Tony, Paty, Rafa) disagree. They don’t think she should be alone, not in her state, he still loves her, etc.

Next day. TC calls the pescador. He asks if she really wants robalo at this hour of the morning. She wants to meet.

Barb drops off Kikito at the mansion and Gris invites her to breakfast before she goes. But she says no; she’s not part of the family. She promises Kikito that she’ll never forgot him and will be thinking of him always. One day she’ll return to him. She cries as she hugs him once more before leaving.

Kike finds out she was there. Gris asks why he doesn’t run after her since he’s still in love with her. But he’s not ready to forgive. Gris begs him to let it go already. He has to fight for what he really wants and she tells him Barb has changed. So, he asks, he should go look for her and tell her that he loves her? Duh! He thanks his mother and goes.

TC asks Jose if his boat is ready. He’s not going anywhere, he says, but she says that she is. She knows he’s not a murdering type but she’ll give him the same money for taking her where she wants to go. He asks if she’s planning an escape. She won’t tell him where she’s going. He offers to be her captain. She won’t say when either but tells him to be ready. Boat trip is way better than murder, so way to go Jose.

Kike runs into the old house to find Barb but Jose tells him he’s too late.

Cop guy is at TC’s house because he’s sure that he was there. She says he was probably walking by or something. She wouldn’t know because she doesn’t associate with employees. He keeps pushing her but she won’t give up anything. Caso cerrado, she says.

Kike runs through the airport looking for her flight. He tries to run past security, who naturally stop him. But it’s important, he cries! And they go, oh, ok, go ahead. Ha! No. They stop him. He yells for Barb from security. She’s getting on the plane, takes a pill and leans the seat back before the plane has even left the gate. Have these people never flown before that they don’t know the rules? Kike somehow got through security but doesn’t catch the plane. He sits down and mopes like he tends to do.

TC rants to Ro about the cop. He reassures her that she did nothing wrong. She says she’s never hurt anyone, no one understands her, she’s not crazy, etc. Ro talks to her in a low, calm voice as though he was trying to talk her down. She’ll always be his reina, siempre. She wants to be left alone. She has another quiet rant about there being no such thing as siempre. It doesn’t exist, it’s a lie. More rant about Griselda.

So in the next two days, aside from everything involving TC, they have to marry everyone off, tell us what the heck was up with Carol and Ivan, solve the baby custody thing, and fix the Esther love triangle. Can they do it in a way we won't make fun of?

I especially want to thank all my fellow recappers for this week's recaps. Every night I have fallen asleep during the show. Don't worry, I've been taping the Friday shows or doing them from On Demand.

OTOH, Avenida Brasil has been keeping me awake, in spite of it being 2 hours. I look forward to watching it, the way I looked forward to watching Marido back when it was good.

Sue455, I feel the same about Avenida Brazil. I've been really enjoying it since day one. Every Brazilian novela I've watched thus far has been top notch. I'm not always pleased with everyone's final outcome but then again life is full of surprises, unlike the usual telenovela formulas.

I can't wait to see how this novela wraps up in the next 2 episodes. Lots of loose ends to tie up. Lately its been a snoozefest with nothing really happening and endless flashbacks. Why are so many telenovelas ruined by extending it to death instead of ending with a bang? Makes better sense to make them shorter but better.

Josie

Kelly- Thank you for the recap of the episode, brought to us by the word CHANGE. :) Thanks as well for pointing out ALL the major loose ends. I really don't know why the writers didn't space this stuff out throughout the tn better. Oh well. On with the final episodes!

Terrific recap, Kelly. I love your writing style.

There was a big "What?" for me when supposedly reformed Barbie got on the plane and popped what looked like a prescription sleeping pill, despite being in the early trimesters of her pregnancy.

I'm also probably off sea bass for the duration. That metaphor that started off a bit cute was just SO overcooked.

I guess they're going right down to the bitter end with Rosario supporting his reina del nilo in her every horrible move. For me this has been one of the truly off parts of the novela. I can't stand the way he sucks up to her despite all he knows about her.

Monica Spear's death..... a senseless travesty. since watching her for the first time in PP, she became my favorite tn actress. I was eagerly anticipating her next project. r.i.p.

Avenida Brazil

I'm watching as well. so far so good. that little Rita was simply adorable; she's the only one who's kept my interest.

La Vida Sigue/ MundoFox

A wonderful (imho) production, far more superior than what Televisa/Telemundo churns out.

Marido

2 hours of Marido, on Monday, Gran Final,
(preempting la Reina)

I'm posting this before watching the last three episodes, or reading much of the above comments, but I wanted to get this gripe out:

Ever since TC's origin story came out, the character of Tia Iris has bothered me. She's been fun to watch, but she doesn't make sense. She acts like a straightforward greedy schemer, but she should be a full-scale villainess and she should be bitter and hateful towards TC.

Let's look at this. Iris tormented Carlota Valdez badly enough to drive her to madness, right? Iris was so scary and hateful that her husband felt he had to hide TC by giving her to his sister to raise? Iris had such a terrible confrontation with her husband that he dropped dead of a heart attack? Does this sound like the cutesy Tia Iris stealing food out of refrigerators we've been chuckling at?

And what about Iris and her feelings? She lost everything somehow as a result of Carlota Valdez and TC, from her husband's love to her husband himself to her money and social position. (I'm a little shaky on how the last got lost, but still, that's the implication.) Shouldn't she hate TC with a passion? Shouldn't she be scheming to bring her down rather than just to get a few crumbs from blackmailing her?

MARIDO viernes 10 de enero Part 1 LAST RECAP!!!

Gris tells Amalia that Jethro went to the airport to try to stop Babs from leaving. She hasn’t heard from him in quite some time and now she’s worried.

Babs is sound asleep on the plane having taken a sleeping pill (while pregnant?). The flight attendants react to a noise and then the captain announces: “Attention, this is your captain speaking. Please remain seated with your seat belt fastened. Attendants please clear the aisles, take your seats, and fasten your seat belts. Thank you.” Jethro is alone in the terminal probably cursing his bad luck when he hears this announcement: “Attention, Flight 2313 service to New York will be returning due to a mechanical problem. Thank you.” Bad luck has turned into good. Let’s hope she returns safely.

I think that same couple has been leaving Rey Gourmet every time we see the outside of the building. Anyway, Reinaldo and Pati discuss how much TC has changed. Pati says she doesn’t know her anymore and doesn’t know how to help her. Reinaldo feels that she doesn’t want any help. He says that she wasn’t always like this and thinks that she became this way after Iris told her the truth about her parents. Reinaldo assures Pati that none of this is her fault and that TC has chosen the wrong path.

The flight attendant has to wake up Babs who thinks they are in New York. Jethro has boarded the plane and tells her there was a mechanical problem with the plane and it had to return to Miami. He was still at the terminal and didn’t see her come through so he went to look for her. Jethro tells her that he wants to marry her again. Babs finds that hard to believe since he’s treated her so rotten since she came back to Miami. They go back and forth and a flight attendant asks them to please take their conversation outside the plane. Jethro says it’s a matter a life and death. When the attendant insists he gives her the Jethro grunt. How obnoxious. Maybe she can call it a threat and report him. Jethro tells Babs that he’s never stopped loving her and the three of them can be a family once again. “And the baby?” “I know it’s mine.” She gives him two conditions: That she doesn’t have to submit to a DNA test and that he treat her with love and respect. She admits that she never stopped loving him. (What about Max?) Jethro plants one on her and one of the flight attendants gets the line of the day: “I only hope they don’t start making love on the plane.”

They drive to José’s house and ask him to scram. “Does this mean you’re back together?” They answer yes. José takes Jethro aside and reminds him that he is a Salinas…and he has róbalo. I agree with everyone who has said that this was cute when it started but it has now been overdone to death! And then José leaves shouting, “¡Reviéntala!” (“Make her burst!”) They can’t wait to go upstairs and wind up on the back of the sofa. They knock over a lamp but it was probably a cheap lamp anyway. Eventually they do make it upstairs and engage in some pillow talk afterwards.

Next morning Gris says if Jethro doesn’t appear today she is calling the police. Amalia thinks that he might have followed Babs to New York on another flight. Reinaldo feels something has happened but isn’t sure what. At José’s house Babs encourages Jethro to call Gris to let him know he is all right but he wants the two of them to surprise her.

Sol calls Manuel to tell him that she has an interview about the video. She knows that she is going to be a star. Ro overhears and plants a big one on Manuel who flees from the room yelling “¡Aaaaaascooooo!”

Viernes 10 de enero Pt 2

Alba and Atty. Mónica Ramos arrive at the courthouse at the same time as Beatriz and her attorney. Alba says to Beatriz, “I want you to know that I’m going to pay whatever price to appease my conscience and free myself from your unjust accusations.” I hope this isn’t the end of this because I want to see how this turns out. I think Esther should sue Alba too.

At Fina Estampa JP says he has a problem with the new collection but Esther is too distracted to listen. He asks if things are back to normal between her and Gabe. She tells him no and says that Gabe thinks that she still loves JP and that sooner or later she and JP will find their way back to each other. JP asks her if she wants that to happen. “Only if you were the last man on earth and I desperately needed help with Victoria and I’ve injected myself with a drug to make me forget what an imbecile you’ve been all this time.”

Over at Tacos Bar Diosa takes Gabe to task for giving Esther time to think about their relationship. “Write your own love story. Or you will be alone. Forever.”

Max, Clara and Leo are looking at a huge sign advertising Max’s fight. Leo says someday he will be the main attraction instead of fighting in a preliminary fight. Maybe he will even fight Max. That is not going to happen because Max tells him that he’s retiring after this fight. “A champion knows when to hang them up.” And he knows what he feels for Clara.

Gris is getting ready to leave her house when she sees TC. “Good morning neighbor,” Gris says laughing. She drives away and TC says to herself, “Laugh while you can because soon you won’t be able to.”

Manuel tells the good news about Sol to Elsa. Ro says he always believed in her talent. He is worried about TC and has had a premonition that something bad is going to happen.

Gris arrives at the Maridas store. TC has Fernando in her car. “What do you think of my plan?” “Perfect.” “I can’t wait for the fire to start. I’ll light the match myself and I’ll watch her mustache burn to ashes and she will be toasted right in front of me.” Fernando, run while you still can. She takes him into an abandoned warehouse. He wants enough money to disappear and live a very comfortable life. She says yes to his demand. She finds an axe on a shelf. “And if she doesn’t die quick enough, I’ll use this to chop her head off.” They go outside to the car. “And I’ll give you something you’ve wanted for a long time: me.” He thinks he’s getting a night of passion but she will only give him a half hour. They don’t know it but José is on his boat and is observing them. “I wonder what she is up to.”

Ro is still worried about TC. Finally she arrives home and treats him in her usual demeaning way. Elsa is slicing peppers and TC takes the knife from her. “Elsa, this knife isn’t sharp. Send it out to be sharpened. I like my knives to be very sharp…in case I have to cut the head off of a chicken [meaning Ro].”

Gris back at home. She lights a candle and says a prayer. Reinaldo calls asking for news. She says she hasn’t heard from him yet in spite of leaving dozens of messages. She says that her mother’s intuition is telling her that he’s OK.

José sits at his kitchen table and wonders what TC could be up to. And then he wonders if he should go upstairs. “Nah, I hate the sound of other people in bed.” Oh I see someone picked the lamp up from the floor. He leaves. Babs wakes Jethro up and reminds him of the last time they made love, when he said it was a mistake and left her there. He tells her that won’t happen again.

Viernes 10 de enero Part 3

Kike tells Babs she will come live with him and Kikito. He calls gris to give her the good news. “I’ve gained a third grandchild.” “And a fourth,” adds Antonio. “Someday,” says Pati. Gris plans a family dinner to celebrate their reconciliation. During the dinner Babs can’t stop crying because she is so happy. She thanks Gris for allowing her to come back to live with them. “Just seeing my son’s happy face is enough.” Reinaldo comes in with a camera and they take a family picture.

I was thanking that Virgin stutue of hers that Paty said "someday" to the pregnancy. Can someone please finish college first for a change? They must give out condoms at the student health center. There's no excuse.

Excellent recap, by the way. I missed some of the TC/Fer stuff. And I totally agree about the flight attendants calling security. Get off the dang plane already! You can make up in the waiting room.

Kelly

Great recap, Sue! I noticed another strange thing about the sleeping pill. Probably living in California it didn't compute the first time. Miami to NYC is NOT a long flight, 2.5 hours. Who would take a sleeping pill for that small of a flight time?

I did enjoy Quique and Barbie reuniting, after all. Especially since Clara has a terrific guy of her own and isn't losing out at all.

I STILL can't tell which way they're going to go with Esther. I was sure she'd return to JP, but Diosa urging Gabe to assert himself and Esther so firmly saying she'd never go back to JP has made me wonder if maybe it will work out the way I want after all.

José urging his child on to have hot sex definitely has an "Ewww" factor for me.

Two hour final Monday. Yikes! I can't say I'm looking forward to that long of a recap.

Sue- Thank you for the excellent recap. I can't believe that we spent almost the whole penultimate episode focused on Barbie-Q. But I too am glad they are now reunited and Barbie is part of the family. Maybe now Q can stop behaving like such a caveman.

Kelly- LOL! My thoughts exactly on these kids waiting to pop out any more babies.

I am liking the way the Ester-Gabe story is shaping up. As hot as JP and Ester were together, I couldn't go back to someone who has said such hateful things about my child. I loved what she said to JP. And Diosa once again serves the purpose of giving hesitant lovers a push.

Can we finally get back to her first pet project-- Paloma and Ivan?

Paloma and Ivan are in dropped storyline limbo.

Hola yo ame esta novela hace mucho que termino pero me hubiera gustado una 2 temporada.
