Mentir Para Vivir #94 Tue 2/18/14 My Boys Can Swim Baby! I'm Going to Be A Father!*

On Blueberry Hill, Ricky, Jose Luis and Mariano continue the brainstorming summit on ways to prevent Rhodalina and Oriana from getting whacked by Sammy the Bull.  The CD is the only thing keeping him alive right now and he will only give it to someone he trust.  Rick is eliminated because he is Jose Luis’ mortal enemy and keeps boinking  his wife, Mariano looks like and angel, but he has a big mouth and might go to the feds.  Mariano says that Homero is a good man; Jose Luis scoffs and says that Homero is trickier than he is.  Jose Luis believes that the only way to protect them is to lock them in the house.  After Jose Luis departs, Ricky and Mariano discuss how they will convince Oriana to stay in the house and not send Rhodalina to school.  Mariano thinks that Jose Luis will give it to Rosa.  Ricky’s tired of dealing with criminals, assassins and smugglers…and that’s just his own relatives.  Now he has to deal with Jose Luis’ problems too?  Again, Mariano suggests that they involve Homero.

Ricky pays a visit to Oriana during booty calls hours, but that's not what he’s there for…this time.  He gets right to the point and tells her about his surprise visitor.  He asks that she and Rhodalina not leave the house for anything.  She thinks that they should just hire more bodyguards.  Rhodalina is in her last week of school and Oriana will just wait outside the school in the car every day.  Ricky says that Sammy the Bull will just hire more thugs with more gun power.  Lots of people could die.  It could be like the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

In the hospital lobby, Matilde rushes into Cesar’s arms.  Matilde throws a tantrum when she learns from the nurse that the doctor has left for the evening.  Cesar pulls her away and gives her a hug.  Matilde blames Ines for this tragedy.  If Ines hadn’t have screwed Sybilu’s man, Sybilu wouldn’t have shot Fabs.

It’s the next morning and Oriana tells Rhodalina that the school is closed due to a fungus of the gungus epidemic.

After spending a couple of nights in jail, Sybilu’s multiple personalities have finally merged into a remorseful one.  She has come to her senses and realizes that she is way to pretty for the prison life.  I don’t wanna be someone’s bitch!  She begs Ricky and Fidelia for forgiveness and swears that she will never shoot a defenseless pregnant chick at a birthday party again.  She tells Ricky that she will love him forever.  If she is in jail for a hundred years, she will get out and stalk him until her dying breath.  Rick says that he won’t hold a grudge, but he is glad that she is behind bars.

Oriana tells Paloma that classes at the school were cancelled because of the fungus of the gungus epedimic.  Paloma is suspicious and demands to know the truth.  She heard a gunshot.  Where is Ricky and and Fabs?  Oriana assures her that nothing is up.  Ricky is in Nogales away on business and Fabs is studying with a friend at school.  Paloma knows she lying because Aresti Breton doesn’t have any business in Nogales.  Oriana hurries off to the school to pick up Alina’s report card.

Fidelia and Ricardo arrive at the hospital lobby where Cesar and Leonardo continue to keep vigil.  Leonardo gives them an update.  Fidelia begins to tell them that Sybilu has developed a remorseful persona, but the two men walk away.  Ricky tells his aunt that now is not the time to show support for Sybilu.  Only after Cesar’s assurances that Matilde has left the building does the doctor finally come out of hiding.  Fabiola’s situation has not changed.  Fidelia tries apologizing to Leonardo, but he cuts her off and walks off again.

At Bernie Madoff Real Estate Holdings, Sebastian takes notes as Escalona bitches about the high numbers to Antonio.  The numbers are so high that he will have to report them to the M.R.S.  Antonio wants to know the thresh hold.  What should the numbers look like?  Escalona notices and wants to know why Sebastian is taking dictation.  He boots Sebastian from the office.  Antonio tells Escalona to back off Sebastian, but Sebastian readily agrees.  Escalona notices that Sebastian is taking the meeting minutes and other files with him and wants to know why.  Sebastian says that he’s just making copies.  Escalona says that he doesn’t trust Sebastian.  Sebastian hurries off and furiously makes copies in another room.

Antonio pays a visit to Matilde’s office.  He wants her to sign some incriminating paper work right away.  She explains that her daughter is dying and she doesn’t have time.  Antonio apologizes and says that Sammy the Bull wants the work escalated so that she can take the fall for his criminal activities ASAP.  Matilde signs and explains that her husband believes that they are running a money laundering business.

Oriana visits the school in order to pick up the report card.  She lies to the principal and says that Rhodalina is sick and will not return to school.

Escalona fires Ruben.  Sammy thinks that he is working to slowly.  Antonio calls to ensure that the deed was done.

Matilde stops by to visit Paloma, but both Nadia and Oriana block her.  Oriana explains that Paloma doesn’t know that Fabby might be knocking on heaven’s door.  Matilde blames Ines for Fabiola getting shot.  Matilde smacks Oriana and Oriana smacks her back.  Both Ricky and Paloma hear the commotion and run into the living room.  Matilde blurts out that Fabiola is dying.  As expected, Paloma collapses.  The doctor is called.

Ruben goes back to the hotel and tells Felipe and Lucina that he was fired because he suspected money laundering.  Ruben is worried about his daughter.  He hopes that she will be able to get over the death of her baby.

Ricky forbids Matilde from entering Paloma’s house again.  Matilde tells Ricky that he can’t bar her from the house because he doesn’t own it.  Ricky physically picks Matilde up and bounces her out of the house.  He tells the staff to lock the doors and get a Doberman.

The doctor is with Paloma when Oriana tells her that Fabiola’s baby didn’t survive.  Ricky returns to the room in time to hear Paloma says “at least we are having another baby”.

Mariano tells Homero about Jose Luis’ visit to Ricky. Homero asks Leonardo if he has any papers from Trejo Bonfil.  Leonardo says that the business was sold, but he was sent some paper work.  He gives Homero permission to snoop through it.  Mariano tells Homero that Jose Luis will only give the CD to someone that he trusts.  Ricky calls and tells them that Paloma has had another episode.  Homero will beef up the police presence around Paloma’s house.  Ricky appreciates it.

After Paloma is sedated, Ricky and Oriana go into another room to talk.  Oriana admits that she left the house to get some papers from the school.  Yeah, yeah says Ricky, but he has another question.  He wants to know what Paloma meant when she said that they are having another baby.  Oriana pretends not to know what she meant.  Ricky won’t give up.  She just looks at him and gives him a hug.  My boys can swim, baby!*  Ricky kisses her and is very excited.  I love Ricky…he doesn’t even ask if it is his or Jose Luis’.

Speaking of tramps, Mike is watching John while John watches Jose Luis’ home.  Raquel walks up.  She notices Jose Luis’ bruised face and rightly concludes that Ricardo beat his a$$.  Raquel tells Jose Luis that she is twelve months preggers and assures him that she has never slept with anyone but him.  She is surprised to see him drinking water.  Jose Luis doesn’t believe that the baby is his and wants a DNA test.  Raquel will only have on after the baby is born.  Jose Luis says that Raquel will be with him if the baby is his.  Raquel tells Jose Luis that she has met Jackie and Jackie is dating Mariano.  Rosa is staying at the Hotel Platina because she’s classy.  Manolo hangs around and Ruben lives there.

Mike returns to Homero and tells him about Raquel’s visit to Jose Luis.  Scott Patrick has replaced Joaquin and is now the chief bongo player.  Homero thinks that Jose Luis might give the CD to Raquel.  Manolo reminds Homero that Raquel tried to make copies of the CD, but Jose Luis stole it back.  Mike thinks that John broke in and stole it.  Manolo will check into the Hotel Platina and watch the Barragans.

Mariano and Jackie are out on a date.  He wants to know if she can really want to marry a boring old geezer like him.  She says that she will “teach him to dance”.  Tramp.

As Manolo checks into the Hotel Platino, Samuel gets the Rosa’s room number from the hotel clerk.  He runs up to her room.  Sammy the Bull is pissed because he believes that Rosa influenced the international board of homicidal thugs to vote in Scott Patrick as their leader.  He’s Joaquin’s brother and should have been his successor.  Rosa tells him that even homicidal maniacs have standards.  They think he’s too crazy to be their leader.  He threatens to hurt Rosa and Jackie if they ever get up in his business again.  Sammy the Bull will fly back to Santo Domingo to plead his case before the board.  Rosa calls Jackie and tells her to come over.  Manolo hears Sammy the Bull tell his bodyguard they are going to the airport.  He sees Mariano and Jackie walk into the lobby arm and arm.

Homero visits Paloma, but Oriana tells him that she is asleep.  Homero tells Oriana that Sammy the Bull flew back to Santa Dominga.  She’s happy that now they can return to their normal lives.  Homero advises against it.

Mariano tries to convince Rosa to go to Homero.  He also advises her to gain Jose Luis’ trust so that he will give the CD to her.  She says that Jose Luis already told her that she ain’t getting it.

At the jail, Sybilu finds out that she is being shipped to the big house to await her trial.  She cries for Ricky and Fidelia to help her.

P.S. Today was really my birthday and no one took their shirt off. Bummer.

Happy birthday to you, pretty lady! I don't have the time to read now, gotta run, but I'll be back soon.

Good work, Cynderella.

MADhilde sank to a new low last night. Blaming Oriana for what happened to Fabiola was bad enough but to insist upon abusing Paloma with the information was really over the top. May her anvil come sooner than the finale episode.

Happy Birthday, Cynderella. Enjoy the day.

Thanks for the wonderful recap. Any reference to George and Jerry is an added treat.

I am currently getting a kick out of Raquel. I thought she was great the other night explaining how she may be a tramp but she wouldn't kill anyone a la Marilu to make her point. She said that Ines seemed to enjoy suffering and then last night she ruled out both an abortion and early DNA testing as unsafe. She has turned into the wisest woman in the pack!

Ricardo was very cute on discovering his impending fatherhood. Ines, with the coy expressions and lip biting again seemed like the love-struck teenager instead of the determined woman insisting on getting the report card that she was a few frames earlier. Oh, well, as you point out, Ricardo didn't ask if the baby was JL's, a welcome sign that he has matured.

With the stroke of her pen on all those inflated checks, Matilde has made her way to that same big house as Marilu, I think. Who knows, but that seemed like an anvil warning to me. And, a well-deserved one at that.

Traveling Lady, I, too, thought it was great that Ric was wonderful in accepting that the baby was his. What a relief!

Matilde is her own worst enemy. I predict and fear that she will be forever estranged from her family. It is always sad to see people harm themselves in this way, but she went beyond the pale yesterday.

Cynderella, I sure hope you recap an upcoming TN as I am going to miss your hilarious and irreverent style! Who would have thought that Rhoda Penmark would have popped up in a Mexican TN!!!

Happy Birthday! I hope you were showered with love and gifts!

Fatima

Thank you, Cyndy. I love your style, as always. And Blessed Birthday to you!

Cynderella, Feliz cumpleaños! Thanks for gifting us with a funny recap on your B-day. My favorites:

"Only after Cesar’s assurances that Matilde has left the building does the doctor finally come out of hiding."

"She says that she will 'teach him to dance'. Tramp."

Matilda never learns. Why waste her time blaming Ori when she should be helping Fabi? If she insists on being difficult, better she sneak in Fabi's room and console her. On second thought, Matilda showing up in Fabi's room would probably make the poor girl worse.

Could JL and Raquel be destined for each other? They seemed to have reached an amicable understanding that neither trusts the other and has only selfish motives. Raquel looks great in white.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Cyn, perhaps this weekend you'll get those men ripping their shirts off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you fo giving us a birthday gift with this fun recap. I haven't seen the epi yet, and probably won't get to it until this weekend. I'm glad Ricky knows he's going to be a daddy now.

I'm not surprised by Mati's reaction, but I'm disappointed. She just proved everyone right for waiting till the last minute to tell her about Fabi. She never learns!

Happy Birthday Cynderella, I hope it was otherwise a good day for you. At least you didn't have to recap their lipsmacking kissing.

One typo, you said that Raquel was 12 months pregnant, and thankfully that's impossible. By 8 months I needed my daughter out of me ASAP. 12 months would have killed me.

I loved how Leo and Cesar shunned Fidelia when she tried to say how sorry Marilu was.

I have to laugh at Paloma always having fainting spells when she hears bad news. That is such a telenovela cliche.

Happy Birthday Cynderella. Thanks for the great recap. Sorry none of our galans gave you a b-day treat.

ITA w/all who thought Maddie went beyond the pale again. Nothing seems to make her learn not think before speaking.

Fidelia's wanting the victims of Maricoocoos foolishness to be OK w/her remorse was wildly inappropriate. It's not even clear if Fabi will live for goodness sakes and her baby is dead.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Happy Birthday Cynderella and thanks for a great recap. I really enjoyed seeing Matilde getting slapped. I'll bet it caught her by surprise coming from Inés.

After all the insulting names and treatment Marilu gave Fidelia, I didn't agree with her rushing off to the jail to visit her. For that reason, I think that Fidelia deserved the cold shoulder she got from camp Fabi when she attempted to speak of Marilu's remorse. That said, it seems that Leo thinks the way you show love or sympathy is to be rude to people.

The other day I made a comment that Inés has become quite adept at evading the truth (AKA lying). I temporarily changed my point of view when presented with opinions and excuses supporting her.

Now after lying to lina, and the school, and Paloma (which didn't work), and not being upfront with Rick about the pregnancy, whew! I'm back to my original POV.

Felice cumpleános Cynde & great recap

These people need to learn, texting Madhilda is the best option so you don't have to listen to her.

Happy Birthday, Cynderella! I'd offer to take off my shirt in celebration, but I'm afraid that I'd be banished from The Patio and probably arrested. Thanks, however, for gifting us with another spicy recap.

I was bummed out that Ricky didn't request a little celebratory sex over his impending parenthood. Maybe now he's thinking, "My work here is done... Next!"

Matilde made several mistakes last night for which I'm disappointed, but the biggest may have been signing those papers. I had such high hopes that she might prove to be the key to bringing down Uncle Sam and CI.

Carlos

Ay, dios mio, Carlos...

MADhilde is not very intelligent. She had one bookkeeping course in school and no legal training. She is an idiot about business and worse than an idiot about motherhood.

Those signatures will probably guarantee that she will be arrested before the finale, which is really the punishment for her ill treatment of her family.

UA, I got the impression that she was becoming a bit of a pain for CI because she was taking the job seriously and had rejected a number of proposals which she found to be patently inferior.

Carlos

Carlos, I thought her biggest mistake was telling Antonio that Ruben warned her that they were laundering money. Not only did that get Ruben fired, not that I think that was so bad, I'm glad he's out of it, but they know that everyone is on to what they are doing.

happy Birthday, Cyn.....sorry that no one took his shirt off....me neither! but hope it was a happy! fun day and wishes for many, many more.

Happy Birthday, Cynderella! Thanks for the entertaining recap. You never fail to get me giggling.

I have always thought that Fidelia was a bit of a flake, and her taking up Mariloco's cause so inappropriately is just more of the same of her special sort of flakiness.

I'm with Foxy and tired of Ines' lies. I think it was just stupid for Ines to lie to Rick about being pregnant. The guy already had it figured out, so how does she think that she is going to keep him in the dark for the next nine months? Besides, he's the dad; he's got a right to know.

And if she is going to go around blaming herself for everything, why doesn't she do it for some of the things that she actually is responsible for? Like keeping the truth from Paloma so that she finds out about Fabi in a totally shocking way instead of telling her in a controlled setting to minimize the upset. Or doing something like having the doctor waiting in the hall when they tell Paloma what is going on. Or simply acknowledging that Paloma has a right to know what is going on in her own family. That would be refreshing for a change.

Another thing that I blame Ines for is the death of Homero's chauffeur and the attempt on his life, not to mention the loss of the stupid CD. If she hadn't blabbed to JL, none of that would have happened, yet she doesn't seem to think she had any culpability in that.

I understand people's complaints about Ricky, but he doesn't bug me nearly as much as Ines does lately. She's nice. Except for the lying, I get that, but all I can say about her is 'how nice'. She's boring.

Thanks everyone for you kind words and birthday wishes.

My friend surprised me with tickets to a Sting and Paul Simon concert in Inglewood at the Forum. AWESOME! Then we went to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.

CathyX, I have a lot of typos in this recap, but that was not a typo. Raquel said that she was twelve months preggers.

Fatima, thanks, but I think I'm going to take a break from recapping for a while. Only Levy or the guy who plays Federico can bring me out of retirement. Well maybe Soto, if he promises to wear a itty bitty towel.

Oh my gosh, Cynderella!!! You got to see Sting and Paul Simon!! I'll bet the concert was sold out. Holy cow!!

I am disappointed to hear you won't be recapping. I love your wacky humor because it's my kind of humor, too!

What did you have at Roscoe's?

Carolina, I TOTALLY agree about Ines and the lying. She is not the same woman we saw in the beginning (after she landed in Mexico). I really liked her then, but so many lies these days; so many lies.

Fatima

Actually, the concert was not sold out, but we did sit in the nose bleed section. She bought the tickets an hour before the show started.

Ummmmm, I had Chicken and Waffles. I decided to be adventurous.
