Mentir Para Vivir #95 Wed 2/19/14

Covering for Paquita del Barrio.  Enjoy!

Homero advises Orinez to keep the beefed up security. (Does this include beefy Mike?)

Mariano, Rosa and Jackie talk about Tio Sammy.

Mariloca gets sent to federal prison until the trial. She begs her aunt to help her even though she was an evil witch to her for months. Tia Fidelia cries as Pretty Ricky tries consoling her.

Alina runs inside yelling for her mother to come see what just came. It's roses from...none other then Pretty Ricky thanking her for the “gift” she has given him. Alina doesn't understand why she got flowers since it isn't even her birthday. So what does it say asks Nosy Lina. Orinez tells her nun-ya business and sends her off to wash her hands.

Pretty Ricky, Mariano and Pierro talk about Mariloca's situation. Mariano, the good man he is, tries to defend Mariloca but Pierro silences him with a “Then why the hell did she bring the gun for”? Pierro wants to know when Pretty Ricky is going to divorce the crazy one. Soon replies Pretty Ricky especially after Orinez gave me a wonderful “gift”. I'm going to be a dad! Pierro wants to know why Pretty Ricky ain't jumping up with joy for knocking up Orinez. He says he doesn't feel much like celebrating knowing Fabs is still in grave danger. Mariano gives Pretty Ricky a brotherly hug and congratulates him . Child are a gift from God. Don't let the sadness from the Fabs situation rain on your parade. Pierro gets in on the action and offers his congrats too. He wants to be the godfather but Mariano says so does he. They decide to share the responsibilities in raising Pretty Ricky's son. What if it's a girl asks Pretty Ricky but Pierro reminds him that he already has a girl. Cielo is called to bring champagne to celebrate and when he asks what's the party about, Pierro says Pretty Ricky is going to be a father. Who's the chick you knocked up asks Cielo. Of course it's Orinez replies Pierro. Cielo offers his congrats and Pretty Ricky asks that they tell no one especially Tia Fidelia.

Fidelia recounts seeing Mariloca being lead away. Rueben tries consoling her and reminds her that when life hands you lemons try making lemonade. Fidelia realizes that she's going on and on about Mariloca when she is the one that caused Rueben's current anguish. Rueben tells her not to fret over it. But you lost your grandson replies Fidelia.

Escalona and Antonio talk about Sammy going to Santo Domingo while Sebs is slowly packing up his briefcase. Escalona rudely asks Sebs what's taking him so long to leave. Don't you have a class? Sebs says he's just packing up some stuff. Escalona wants to know what he's packing, but Antonio interrupts Escalona's questioning and asks how school is going. Great replies Sebs. Just finishing up some tests to enter the university. Escalona is not deterred and questions Sebs again on what is in his bag. My schoolwork replies Sebs. Want to check it out? Antonio tells Escalona to quit the interrogation and sends Sebs off to school. Escalona starts complaining about Sebs. He doesn't do anything. He's a good for nothing. I think we should let him go. Why are you always defending him? Antonio tells Escalona that Sebs is in on everything that is going on. He's trustworthy. Escalona thinks it's dangerous. What if he tells his father, Pretty Ricky? He won't replies Antonio. And FYI, he's not Pretty Ricky's son. Antonio changes the subject and wants to see the checks that he has to sign. Escalona inquires about Matilde's whereabouts but Antonio doesn't care. He can't stand that women and she is completely useless.

The doctor tells the boys that Fabs can have one visitor. Leo tells Caesar to go in but he declines saying Fabs would be happier seeing him. He asks if she knows about her child. Not yet replies the doctor. What if she asks about him replies Leo. Just tell her everything is fine. It's not the time to tell her the truth.

Leo is lead to Fabs room and the doctor reminds him that he can only visit for a few minutes. Leo sits on the bed and Fabs wakes up. Leo tells her that only one person could visit and Caesar gave it to him. What about my child questions Fabs. Everything fine lies Leo. He tells her that everyone has come to visit and check on her. Fabs says she can't feel her child. Leo lies and says perhaps the baby is asleep. Leo changes the subject and says that Matilde also came to visit. Fabs can't believe it. Why not questions Leo. She loves you just like everyone else including me. Fabs says she loves Leo too. She can't remember what happened, but Leo pushes it off for another time. Leo says he sold many of his paintings, but Fabs falls asleep. He kisses her softly on the lips and leaves. But not before looking at her one more time. He walks back to the waiting room and tells Caesar that she seemed weak and asked about her child. Leo wonders what they are going to do. Caesar doesn't have any idea but the doctor will take care of it. Leo says it will be a difficult blow for her.

Sebs is leaving the office and calls Pierro to tell him that he has many interesting documents to show him. Pierro wants him to bring it to Pretty Ricky's house but Pretty Ricky reminds Pierro that the house is being watched. Pierro offers to go to his house instead.

Pretty Ricky wants to end all this spying. If they find out, they will kill him. Pierro understands but Sebs is very stubborn. Convince him replies Pretty Ricky. Pierro promises to try. He wants to go visit Fabs at the hospital and leaves. Mariano tells Pretty Ricky that he has a problem. He thinks he's in love with Jackie. He's pretty sure that it will lead to marriage but they're so different. I have been a priest for many years and wonder if taking a young woman is the right thing. She's going to want to go out and have fun but I'm completely different. I like my books and classical music. I don't know how we would mesh. The other day, I told her I didn't know how to dance and she said she would show me. Imagine that since I have two left feet. Pretty Ricky tells him to talk to her and asks how old is she? 26 or 27 but she has been protected all her life by her family replies Mariano. She's a wonderful, noble girl. She thinks doing good deeds with her father's money will erase everything that he has done. She doesn't think about the laws or consequences. At first, I was agreeing with her but Homero opened my eyes. Just because Joaquin is dead does not erase all the bad things he did. Pretty Ricky again tells him to talk to Jackie about all this.

Matilde visits Fabs and asks how she's feeling. Better but tired replies Fabs. Matilde feels this is the perfect opportunity to remind Fabs just how right she was in telling her not to get mixed up with Sebs. But of course all this is Orinez's fault. If she hadn't walked in our lives none of this would have happened to you. Fabs tells Matilde she's not in the mood for scolding and asks her to leave. And while she is in the hospital don't come to visit. Matilde puts on the sad face she is good at giving and gives Fabs the blessing.

Raquel overhears Lucina and Manolo talk about the CD that Homero wants. Manolo asks if Raquel is back with JL. Lucina believes so. Manolo says JL will only give the CD to someone he trusts and wonders if Raquel would find out who. They keep talking and the helper (can't remember is name right now) asks her if she needs anything. Nothing replies Raquel and leaves. Lucina and Manolo keep talking. Manolo says he has to leave for a few days, but Lucina says she is no police woman and wonders what the mystery is all about. Manolo advises her to play along. Her associate is kicking it with a known delinquent and one of her guests is the daughter of one of the most wanted man at Interpol. Co-operate for things can get worse for you. Manolo leaves, the hotel helper comes up and tells Lucina that Raquel was eavesdropping on their conversation. When she saw me, she left.

Commercial for “Premio Lo Nuestro” tomorrow at 7. Just saw Marc Anthony. (sigh, drool, sigh again).

This sucks because something happened to my recording and I lost something Please fill in. What I do get is JL pleading with the psychiatrist that he has to see his daughter. The psychiatrist will see what he can do. The butler announces the arrival of a visitor, but Raquel gets ugly and shouts “Like you don't know who I am”. The psychiatrist leaves and JL gets onto Raquel for having no class. (Duh!) Raquel says she only came to tell him that she overheard Lucina and Manolo talking about him. She figured that he would be interested. Homero wants the CD and doesn't care how they get it. Raquel wants to know who he's going to give it to, but JL says he destroyed it.

Orinez thanks Pretty Ricky for the flowers. They swap spit and he has a present for her. No, it's not little Ricky...... yet, but a red box with a ring that belonged to his mother. He is so happy and so is she. She admits at first she was scared. But having a child fills you with life. He feels the same way while he grabs her tushy. He feels like a giant, prepared to defend the life of his child. He wonders if Paloma knows yet. She knows I’m pregnant, not that I told you replies Orinez. He wants Paloma to partake in their happiness. They swap more spit and go to see Paloma. She wants to know what's up with the huge smile and hickey. (okay, not the hickey. But I can't help noticing). Pretty Ricky says he and Orinez are going to be parents. Paloma offers her congrats and hugs all around. She wonders when will the wedding be? (that would be the last capitulo, abuela). Pretty Ricky says we need to take things slow and calm. He wants to avoid any more gossip after the Mariloca incident. He tells them that Mariloca was transferred to federal prison today. Paloma sorta feels bad for her. Look where her obsession took her.

Raquel tells Lucina that JL destroyed the CD.

Homero and Manolo are looking through papers from Trejo Brunil for proof of money laundering. They don't believe JL destroyed the CD. Homero says it's been confirmed the Sammy went to Santo Domingo. More likely seeking to speak with Whitman since they didn't choose him to be the new cabo. But Whitman is currently in Australia so Sammy will have to cool his heels for a couple of days. Manolo wonders why they don't go after Whitman instead. Homero explains that it's not so easy. Whitman may be the head guy right now, but Rosa Toscana is an associate and it's easier to go after her. Manolo finds documents showing a money transfer from Caribbean Investment Group to Trejo Brunil.

Sebs shows Pierro his proof that he obtained from the office of questionable actions. Pierro thinks they need more. He wants Sebs to find proof that Caribbean Investment Group transferred money to the new company. Sebs is told that there should be a receipt that lists the transactions and he needs to find it. Sebs thinks it's perhaps in Escalona's safe. Pierro tells Sebs that this spying job is getting to dangerous and Pretty Ricky and I want you out. Sebs refuses. You got me in all this and I haven't finished yet. Pierro reminds him that if they suspect or even find out what he's doing, he's a dead man. Sebs in his naïve youth doesn't think Escalona will suspect anything. Pierro corrects him and says Antonio. Changing the subject, Pierro wants to know how many guards patrol at night. One or two replies Sebs.

Sammy meets with Scott Patrick? Sammy yells that his brother always promised him the position if he ever left. Patrick disagrees. Your brother always thought you were incompetent. And anyway, the decision for leadership of this organization has always been decided on by the board and they chose me. Sammy says it was done all behind his back. He didn't even get to vote. You would have voted for yourself replies Patrick. All the board members Sammy starts throwing insults at Patrick calling him an old man. Patrick laughs it off and says there is nothing Sammy can do. The decision is made. When does Whitman come back inquires Sammy. In a week replies Patrick. He's closing a very important deal. Sammy says that JL recorded a CD all about their business information and he is the only one that can take it from him. Before Homero does.

Caesar pays Raquel a visit. He comes to drop off the money they agreed upon. She tries to entice him into her bed, but he refuses. She starts kissing and caresses him which convinces him.

The hotel helper tells Lucina that Caesar just went up to Raquel's room. Lucina asks for the keys. Caesar promises Raquel that the baby will want for nothing. They continue making out in her bed when Lucina busts in. Caesar jumps out of bed shirtless and Raquel tells Lucina she has no business interrupting. Lucina asks if they think this is a brothel. She picks up Caesar's shirt and tosses it to him ordering him to leave. You guys have no respect for anything. Why don't you quit lying and tell this poor guy that you don't even know who the father of your baby is. Caesar asks if it's true. Raquel says of course she knows but Lucina says she doesn't. Stop wasting your money on her because the baby could be JL's. Raquel tells Caesar not to believe her. Lucina shoves Caesar out and tells him she doesn't want to see him at her hotel anymore unless he's married to Raquel. Lucina tells Raquel that her game has ended and takes the money from the nightstand. She's giving it back to Caesar.

Pretty Ricky tells Orinez that Pierro and Mariano are happy with the news. They even want to be the godfathers. She just wants the baby to be born healthy. She also says that Sammy left the country and now they don't have to watch their backs. Pretty Ricky says they can breathe for awhile until Sammy returns. Doorbell rings and it's the doctor wanting to see Orinez. He says he heard the news about Mariloca and Fabs. He wonders how Paloma took the news. Obviously it affected her greatly, but she's doing better. The doctor says he went to see JL and he's taking his meds again. He wants to see his daughter. Pretty Ricky pipes up that it isn't going to happen. The doctor understands his feelings, but this could be good therapy for JL. Patients like JL could spiral out of control. What do you mean asks Orinez. He could commit suicide replies the good doctor.

Raquel tells Lucina that she needs the money, but Lucina refuses to give it to her. How can you take money from him knowing he doesn't make enough to eat? It is his obligation to take care of the baby replies Raquel. Lucina reminds her that she doesn’t even know who the father is. Raquel asks why she cares. I care because I don't like to see how you are behaving replies Lucina. A tramp that takes advantage of her pregnancy to get money from her men. Raquel says it's her business. Lucina says it is Raquel's business but she can't believe how low she has sunk. Using her child to get money. Raquel says the money is hers for her child and she wants it.

Pretty Ricky and Orinez argue over letting JL see his child. Orinez points out that he has visited Mariloca and got her an attorney. He has looked out for her. Can he not do the same for JL? He just wants to see his daughter. Don't you understand? Of course I do replies Pretty Ricky but I'm scared. What if he snaps and does something to Alina? Or you? Orinez says JL is not an animal. He is a caring man. But those times have passed replies Pretty Ricky. Orinez doesn't want to argue and is going to get with JL to set up a time for him to see his daughter. Pretty Ricky offers to go with her but she refuses. He tells her not to make him mad. Orinez tells him just because she is carrying his child does not give him the right to dictate her life or her daughter's.

Orinez goes to speak with Alina. She wants to know where they are going on their vacation. I don't know right now replies Orinez. Remember your grandmother is still delicate. Orinez wants to know if Alina wants to see her father. Alina says she doesn't know. Tito doesn't care for him. Orinez says Alina doesn't have to do everything Tito says. He's just a dog. Alina corrects her and says he's her friend. Orinez understands but Tito doesn't know that JL is a little sick and needs just a bit of love from her. He would love to see you and it will make him feel better. Alina agrees.

Homero and Manolo look over the paperwork that Pierro brought. Homero needs more. Pierro says Sebs told him that there may be more in the safe. There are only 2 guys guarding the place. They will need to distract them. Mike says he can do it. But can you open a safe asks Manolo. Mike can't but Homero can. He was trained in everything. Manolo thinks he's too old to do it. Homero takes offense. I know I'm old. That's why I have you guys. You do the grunt work and I do the intelligence work. So Mike, Sebs and myself are going to do the break-in. Pierro doesn't want to involve Sebs but Homero reminds him that only Sebs knows where the safe is. They can't just go from room to room looking for it. Do you not think that Sebs wants to go asks Homero. Of course he does replies Pierro. He would love it. He thinks he's in a police movie.

Pierro tells Sebs about the plan to break-in. He wants Sebs to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid and follows Homero's orders to the “T”. Sebs says he's in. I'm not stupid. I know that replies Pierro. But you think your slick. Sebs says this is the things you tell your kids about. How's Fabs by the way? All I know is that the infection is gone replies Pierro. Leo is there all the time so I haven't gone to visit. Sebs says that's the reason why he hasn't gone either. He doesn't want to run into Leo. Pierro asks if he still wants to marry Fabs. Why not replies Sebs.

JL is staring at photos of his family when the phone rings. It's Orinez letting him know that she will be bringing Alina over for a visit tomorrow. But that doesn't mean we are getting back together. I will be watching out for her the whole time she's there. JL says he would never hurt their daughter, but Orinez says not physical abuse but mental. JL wants to talk about them, but she hangs up. JL looks like he's loosing his marbles.

The doctor tells Rueben, Lucina, Pretty Ricky and Orinez that Fabs is doing better. He will have to tell her about her baby. She keeps asking and it's time. It's important for her whole family to come and support her. Lucina wants to know if Rueben is going to tell Matilde to come. Of course replies Rueben. She's Fabs mother. Yes, but she's crazy replies Lucina. She can cause a scandal. Pretty Ricky thinks they should just tell Caesar and Mariano.

Pretty Ricky hears from the attorney he hired to defend Mariloca. He says the judge would probably give her 20 to 30 years. Pretty Ricky wants to start the divorce proceedings. He wants it discreet. He plans on marrying Orinez.

Jackie meets with Mariano. He tells her he doesn't think that they are compatible and he's too for her. Jackie disagrees. Mariano thinks they have nothing in common. She has traveled the world, is accustomed to the finer things in life and likes to go to parties. I don't like that. I'm quiet and reversed. What are you telling me asks Jackie. That you want to stop seeing me? No replies Mariano. I just don't want you to think that I am the man for you. But I care for you replies Jackie. Sometimes that is not enough replies Mariano. Jackie doesn't want to stop seeing him. Sometimes couples have different likes and opinions and they just have to work it out. Unless your saying this because of something else? Mariano quickly denies it and tells her not to think that. Jackie wants to try again. Perhaps you can't change but I can. I want to be the woman you need.

The doctor, Rueben, Caesar and Mariano come to tell Fabs the bad news. The doctor says the bullet went into her stomach and caused massive bleeding. Unfortunately they had to do a c-section and the baby died. Fab cries.

Friday: JL asks Orinez if Pretty Ricky will love Alina like his own child; Mariloca is sentenced to 25 years; Pretty Ricky tells Orinez that JL will no longer see Alina or her.

Thank you, Gloria. Loved the bit with Oriana telling Lina nun-ya about the gift.

I'm also glad Ric knows about the baby. Sending flowers was a nice touch.

But really, thank God for HIPAA in the good ol' USA where the Drs can only share medical info with the patient. Everybody and their momma knew Fabs' baby had died before she did and that's just mean to me. She's not a minor and should have access to her own medical state FIRST.

True. And I hope the anvil for MADhilde is the imperial size.

Gloria, this is really nice of you to cover for Paquita. Please know that we MPVers appreciate it!!

Urban, agree on the Imperial size anvil for Matilde. I have to say I was a wee bit surprised that Fabiola actually told her mother not to come back to see her.

Fatima

I'm not. Fabiola was long overdue to express her disgust with her.

Thank you for covering my night Gloria! Much appreciated!!

Thanks so much Gloria! I'm hoping to catch up on this and the previous episode tonight. I am so glad to hear that Fabi gave her mother the cold shoulder. She never learns, does she?

Perhaps Jackie is just a way to jump start Mariano's romantic life. If it weren't for those spoiler bumpers showing him kissing a red head, I would have thought he would start dating the nice nurse (Maria's and the Sebas') who started working with him. Personality wise, she seems like a better fit. Maybe Jackie will head back home, and Mariano will set his sights on the nurse?

Great recap Gloria. Again, thanks. Still haven't watched episode but might watch just to see fabi give mom the cold shoulder.

Maybe Jackie breaks up with Mariano when she sees his closet full of plaid shirts. She then returns home and pick up where daddy left off, whacks tio Sammy and El Zorro, leaving Ori free to marry and live happily ever after?!?

Dear Gloria,

Thank you for the very thorough recap that seemed to channel all of my sighs and hmmms. I appreciate it.

I love Paquita's alternative scenario for Jackie! And in response to the plaid shirts, too. It would solve a multitude of problems.

I got a kick out of Homero yesterday with his crack break-in team doubting his need to be there. A little needed humor as our novela reaches its end.

I do want to see Oriana once more tell Pretty Ricky to mind his own business with respect to her interaction with JL. He may be right but the imperiousness of his demands is not attractive or convincing.

Thank you Gloria for a wonderful recap and for filling in for Paquita.

I was happy to hear that Mariano is questioning if he should continue with Jackie. She's the first girl he's had a relationship with and it does seem like she's maybe not right for him. They should at least continue the courtship and see if the problems he mentioned start to show up in their relationship. I was also glad that Matilde wasn't there when they told Fabiola about the baby. But I expected Matilde to tell her when she visited her and have Fabiola go into cardiac arrest too, and that didn't happen.

J, if the doctors maintained the patient/doctor privacy privilege, then we would never have had the best doctor blab scene in all of telenovelaland in Amor Bravio where the doctor told the entire waiting room that Alonso was with a hooker when he took Viagra and suffered a heart attack. That will be hard to top I think.

Gloria - Thanks a bunch. All that convo about the papers and the safe blew right by me. Appreciate the details.

Hmmm, did I see Antonio show a glimmer of pride in Sebas? Maybe now that Sebas has shaped up, Antonio isn't feeling denial about being the daddy.

I like Lucina, but she was wrong to barge in on Raquel and Cesar. She treated that man like he was 12 years old. But, Cesar, can you not just say "no"?

Traveling Lady, I hope they wear all black tight fitting clothes with black ski masks. Isn't that standard issue for a heist?

Thanks for this excellent effervescent recap, Gloria. Nicely done.

I'm baffled by what actually did happen to result in the loss of Fabiola's baby. The Dr. mentioned placenta previa as a complication in an earlier episode which wouldn't necessarily by itself lead to fetal demise. Last night he said that the bullet destroyed her uterus necessitating a C-section. If her uterus was destroyed, that implies to me that it was irreparable and that the baby would have perished and the remaining remnants of the uterus and its contents would have need to be removed to control bleeding. Maybe we'll get more clarification later... or not.

So how long will it take for JL to learn of Oriana's pregnancy and will he go completely nuts?

I thought that Escalona got into this reluctantly because he needed extra money to take care of his ailing wife but now he seems to have embraced his inner criminal.

And hasn't Lucina become the pious scold? I think Matilde would approve.

Carlos

Carlos- I guess using your kid for financial gain (aka, pimping your kid out), is where Lucina draws the line.

So, no shows tonight, correct?

Cathyx- Correct.

CathyX, seems I need to watch Amor Bravio. A doctor blabs on a patient to the entire waiting room that said patient had a Viagra induced heart attack. *Dead*

Thank you, Gloria! I much appreciate your filling in.

J desde, not only that, but that guy in AB wasn't sleeping with his wife, so that was announced to all as well. It was pretty horrifying in terms of privacy, but it sure got the plot moving along nicely. LOL.

Vivi, pimping out your kid is where I draw a line, too. Sheesh. It seems that there may be no redemption for Raquel, and Matilde is just digging her grave deeper and deeper, too.

As for Cesar, he needs to just say no to the ho. I was very disappointed he didn't walk away from the skank. I thought he might for a few seconds there.

I am still seeing a glorious, do-gooder death for Sebass. Maybe he'll be the one ot get the proof to bring down CI in the end but pay the ultimate price.

I also love the idea of Mariano with the nurse girl, but it seems they want him with someone a bit more flash. Hmmm. Could work. Can't say I care too much one way or the other. I would love to see Lucina have a really happy ending with Manolo, and Ruben also deserves happiness, even if it's with Fidelia. At least he's free of Matty.

J, the show was otherwise fantastic, the best TN I've ever seen, and the eye candy that is Cristian de la Fuente only put it over the top good for me. The plot and the acting were so good I never needed my beanie. I don't think I had to put it on even one time.

Cathyx- I loved that scene. Best tn hospital reveal, ever. And moved the plot along nicely.

J- The chemistry of the main couple was one of the best things about Amor Bravio. And thinking back to some of the criticism the galan got (not from me), comparing him to most other galans, especially the crop we've had recently, he was nearly perfect.

I don't like reading the Ricky is trying to forbid Ori and Lina from seeing JL. He's not their boss/owner. As messed up as the situation is, it's up to Ori to decide how she and their child should interact with JL. I do wish she would make up her mind about just how much contact she wants JL and Lina to have. Though I do understand that learning that JL is a cold blooded murderer shifted her thinking on this.

This could push us into off-topic territory, but do social workers really try to push children to see parents they want to avoid? Alina's fear of Jose Luis was completely justified. The social worker dismissing her trauma over seeing him almost kill Tito was appalling.

I have the following problems with this show:

Jose Luis is not that bad of a bad guy. I've seen worse. I think JL is more redeemable than somebody like Raquel, for instance. He did kill Homero's chauffeur so he needs to pay for that, and he did kick Tito violently, for which he is still paying for b/c he's lost the love of his beloved daughter. I think losing Alina permanently would be the worst punishment JL could get. He could probably be happy behind bars (or dead) if he knew Alina loved him.

Oriana/Ines is stupid. She's being told "Hey Samuel is lurking around, Jose Luis could be suicidal and she's acting like everything is fine.

Ricky is irking me with his possessiveness. Like, dude: just stop.

I think if Raquel had been sleeping with/scamming anyone else than Cesar, she wouldn't have busted in. To my knowledge, Raquel has not taken an HIV test and we know she's had unprotected sex b/c she's pregnant. She's getting money from JL, getting money from Cesar. I think that's where Lucina is drawing the line. Raquel knows Cesar is not her baby daddy & Cesar is just as gullible & unaware as Fabiola. I don't think Lucina could continue being friends with Ruben knowing that

a) Raquel has not taken that HIV test so she could be putting Cesar at risk again (b/c he took his test & came out negative)

b) Jose Luis is Raquel's baby daddy but she's scamming Cesar out of money for Jose Luis's baby.

The best punishment for Raquel would be for her to end up alone, with no many willing to touch her except the fat cop who struggles to light his cigarette.

Anon207- I believe that Raqui did eventually get tested (after lots of denying and delaying) and it came out negative. But maybe I dreamed this. Someone else confirm because I've missed quite a few episodes and relied on the recaps.

She is also playing coy about who the daddy is. Perhaps she doesn't really know. But the odds are in Cesar's favor since JL always used a condom with Raqui, but Cesar did not. In any case, it's not right for her to be lying to both men and telling them they are the father and getting money out of both of them at the same time. And we have not seen her do anything to prep for having a healthy baby, like seeing a doctor. Just what is she using the money for. Lucina has also pointed out that they are doing well enough to pay for Raqui's pregnancy expenses. Once she the baby is born and has a DNA test, then she can start fleecing whoever the baby-daddy is for child support.

Urban- I wonder about that too. But the thinking on whether Alina should have to spend time with JL even seems mixed on this blog. Some seem to feel that it's ridiculous for Alina to be so scared of her father for kicking her dog, and that child custody/visitation matters should not hinge on the opinion of a 6 year old. Perhaps this social worker feels the same way.

I think it was the right thing for the adults to get Lina help to get over her terror of JL. That wasn't healthy. But I don't think she should be forced to see him. I still really don't think JL understands why it was so wrong for him to kick the dog, and then dump him and leave him for dead in the park. It's the same with all the rest of his crimes-- Someone else drove him to it. It wasn't really his fault. He doesn't understand why others are so upset about it. He thinks the way to make it up to them is by buying them expensive gifts.

This lack of understanding of how his actions deeply affect his wife and child just means he'll repeat these behaviors as soon as he gets comfortable again. As much as he may love them, he doesn't deserve to have them, and his punishment should be to lose them both.

You didn't dream it Vivi, she did get tested for HIV and it was negative. I'm quite certain the baby is Cesar's since we know she had unprotected sex with him and always used protection with JL, but we'll have to wait and see what the DNA results will be.
I know everyone was on Cesar's case for wanting to have sex with Raquel again, but let's get real here. He's a young shy guy, has no girlfriend and she's very hot, may already be carrying his child, and comes on to him. Most guys won't resist that.

Cesar has learned to stand up to Matilda, but hasn't grown much beyond that. He knows that Raquel has been boinking JL too so he should realize he's only a "maybe" daddy.

I am for Alina having a visit with her dad, under the supervision of Ori and a professional. I'm not a social worker but my sister is and the standard M.O. is to try to keep families together if at all possible. That means supervised visits and training/therapy for parents and therapy for the kids.

Even if JL is found guilty of murder, which he is, and goes to prison, I wouldn't necessarily be against Alina writing letters or having supervised phone calls with him. It would depend on the impact on her. In her case, in the early years, she probably wouldn't want to deal with him. But when she gets in her teens, she might want to reach out to him. Overall, I give Ori a good grade on how she's tried to deal with this, except for living with JL, which Homero pushed her into, cause that was crazy.

Cathyx ITA about Cesar, but after the HIV scare the boy better learn to be less shy about sex and get himself some condoms.

Vivi and Anon207,

Yes, Raquel did finally get tested for HIV and the test came up negative.

I think that I feel more sympathy for JL than I have for any other male villain in a TN. I believe that he truly loves his wife and daughter. He kicked Tito and shot Homero's driver (why wasn't he wearing a bullet-proof vest and yet Homero was?) and is a criminal... I've seen much worse.

While I was more disgusted with Jerónimo in CME and Rogelio in LQNPA, I have real visceral dislike for Ricky. His preening and prancing and sniveling insecure neediness really rub me wrong. I still don't think that he is all that fond of Alina and accepts her as part of Inez's baggage. JL thought that Alina should have been satisfied with a replacement dog... Ricky thinks that JL should be satisfied with a replacement child. And those scarves, too small shirts, and too tight jeans don't enhance his image.

Raquel's baby could also be Sebastians. Frankly I don't give a damn, how many more episodes?

Altair Jarabe (sp) was on the premios. She looked very pretty with darker hair.
