Lo Que La Vida Me Robo #83- 3/7/14: 'Cause I Want It That Way

Ahoy Amguis. It is bright and sunny on the Patio today, but the storm clouds are gathering in the distance. There is a disturbance in the force, known as Pedro Medina, and as his machinations start to sprout and bear fruit, we on the Patio, have prepared that Bunker again. It will be nice and cozy when the time comes for its use. In the meantime, let us enjoy the soft breezes, tropical drinks and the wonderful company as you sit back and enjoy this little earworm that I have found for you.  Please don't diss the recapper for the first earworm choice, cause well, I'm a fan ; )  I Want It That Way

When we last left Nadia and Esme they were having a little convo about that thorn in their side, named Pedro Medina. That man is a sticky wicket. Nadia is lamenting the fact that she is trapped in her loveless marriage and there can be no divorce. Esme wants to help Nadia as much as Nadia wants to help Esme. Nadia drops the bomb on Esme by telling her that gasp *EZ and Pedro are amantes* (lovers)! Well, shut the front door Irene, but Esme is floored. No way she tells Nadia. EZ is so into Esme, as in girlz. Not boys! Well, shut Nadia's mouth, but, but, she caught EZ underwater in that jacuzzi, with Pedro in it! Esme tells Nadia she is wrong, wrong and wrong. EZ is a brown noser (I learned this little phrase when I was in the Navy, it means you have your nose so far up your boss' butt, it turns brown), he's ambitious but he is NOT gay! Look on Nadia's face Priceless!!!!

Monse and Ale are having a nice time on their Patio when Rosy comes out and tells them the police have arrived, namely one EZ and Ale and Monse are concerned due to Ale's troubles, but Rosy tells them he has come alone, no backup. Ale goes to meet him and EZ informs him that BM (Maria) is in the hospital due to having tried to take her life yet again. EZ spins his little web of lies and informs Ale she had been staying with Addled, she had nowhere else to go, and he found her almost lifeless. Ale thanks him for the info and EZ leaves. He tells Monse and Rosy about the second attempt by BM to exit this world and he wants to go see BM, would Monse like to go along? Are you kidding me???? Monse stands her ground and understands that BM is like his sister, but he is not to offer her a place in their home again. BM tried to kidnap little Laurito, knocked out Tia Lottie and Monse is not having it! Rosy and Monse are a wee bit concerned as Ale goes on his way. Rosy does tell Monse that BM is all alone in the world, Monse seems to understand this, but doesn't want her in her home y punto.

Oh, looky here, what have we got? Sandro Navarez, the abogado (lawyer) /grifter come to visit Ale. Oh, and he really isn't a lawyer, he's just playing one. He meets Monse and informs her he is the lawyer for Fablush (Fabiola) (Thanks Susanlynn). Monse also introduces Rosy as Ale's Mama. Sandro spins his own web of lies as he says that Fablush is fragile, cough, cough, er and needs her familia. Sandho (Sandro) explains about the car accident that took the lives of Fablush's parents and she is all alone in the world. Just as we on the Patio are about to roll up our pant legs and lift our boots up in the air, here comes JL, that sexy beast in his uniform, okay, okay, he's so damn sexy. He wants to talk to Monse, if you please. Monse invites JL to come into Ale's little home office, Rosy goes with, and Sandho is left alone to case the joint!

No Souvenirs

JL is a bit, shall we say, peeved cause he would like to speak to Monse solo (alone) doesn't Ale trust her alone with him? Monse tells JL that Ale trust Monse, but not JL. Monse does thank him for his help on Ale's case. It's his job to ferret out the truth and Monse informs JL that Ale really is a great guy. JL is pithed cause he isn't able to talk to her alone, Rosy being the watchful Mama in the corner, and JL wants to leave. He seems to think that Monse is in a prison again, that Ale has locked her up and thrown away the key. Monse has news for JL, she likes it this way! JL would like to hate, but the love in his heart for Monse will be there forever. JL even has tears in his eyes, and did I happen to mention that Sandho, is eavesdropping right with his ear to the door. Why didn't he get a glass for goodness sake? As JL leaves the little office, Sanho introduces himself, JL tells Monse to tell Ale he'd like a word, and leaves. Sandho also leaves but says he will be back!

Addled is in the waiting room of the hospital and this is where Ale finds him. He tells Ale all about BM needing a place to stay, he felt so *sorry* for her, he went out and came back and found she had taken some pills and took her to the hospital. Addled tells him they had to use the paddles on her heart and they pumped her stomach. Ale is a bit miffed with Addled. Addled tells Ale that he hooked up with BM at the Hacienda, there is that matter of the stolen money that comes up and that BM has only eva loved Ale and as far as Addled is concerned BM is Ale's problema! Oh, about the money, I don't know for sure if Addled told him the truth, but he did say the money was stolen to make it seem as if Monse had taken it. Addled tells Ale that BM only needs Ale, not him and he goes off.

Somebody Bring Me Some Water

BM is in her hospital bed, looking the worse for wear, pardon the pun, as Ale comes in. Ale is very sad and sits down. BM wakes up and is so very happy to see her object of affection, obsession, take your pick, just ripe and ready for the plucking so to speak. BM seems to think that Ale hates her, not so. BM goes into her perdoname spiel, you know, about the kidnapping of Laurito, the knocking out of Tia Lottie, she was out of her head and tres stupid! She'd rather be dead! Now she goes into the blame game, how he couldn't make up his mind from one day to the next about her. One minute he wanted her to be his mujer, the next not so much. He threw her out of the Hacienda. When they were together it was so marvelous, he held her in his arms at night, remember that? He left her! Waaaaaaa!!!!! Of course, Ale blames himself as he should in a way, he was responsible for alot of this mess. He does ask her forgiveness for using her. Now the big conundrum comes up, can she come live with him again, pretty please, with a cherry on top and sprinkles too???? She loves him and if it takes talking Monse into it, nah not that, but she'll even talk to Monse. She begs she pleads, he'll talk to Monse, but he isn't promising her anything. The Doc comes in, asks how she is and Ale goes off with him.

Now I know our Elna June and Carlos, are probably a bit miffed with this next part of our little drama. I expect lots of feedback on this little convo. The Doc talks to Ale and introduces him to the Psych Doc. Seems BM needs treatment for depression. Ale says he is just a friend, like a brother to BM, has known her some time, she has no family. The Psych tells him BM suffers from profound depression and Ale wants to take her to a treatment center. Psych nixes that and tells him she needs family not a clinic. She shouldn't be alone, she has nothing, she needs direction, but most of all she needs Ale! Alrighty then, see what I mean???? Ale will talk to him tomorrow.

After Ale leaves, who should make an appearance? Addled of course and with a small enevlope, pays off the Psych, who says he did as he was told.

She's Come Undone

Ale has gone back into BM's room and tells her to do what the Doc tells her to do. She smiles like the Cheshire cat and he goes as Addled comes back. Addled tells her it is most important that she convinces Ale move back in. Addled is about to go, but BM has other ideas. Addled doesn't want to play her foolish games. She has other needs, er, cough, ahem, and wants to do the deed, right in the hospital bed mind you. No one is coming in, everyone that is anyone has been to see her, so shed the clothes and let's get right to it. She didn't even have to say anything else cause Addled is on her like white on rice. They didnt' count on the Padre. We'll get back to them in a tick.

Ewwww, I thought this would be a Graceless episode, so much for wishful thinking. Graceless is happy her Dimmy boy is staying and not leaving his Mama. Dimmy kisses Fina, right in front of Graceless and he goes. Fina tells Graceless no need to thank her, she's the one that talked Dimmy into staying. What does Fina get in return? Graceless calls her ugly and poor thing. Okay there Graceless ugly is as ugly does and that would be you, not our precious, quirky Fina. Graceless laughs and goes up the stairs. I am hoping these stairs are the stairs of doom for Graceless, just a thought.

Ale is at the reception desk at the hospital and tells the nurse he will take care of the bill. She will have it ready by tomorrow. Padre Anselmo finds him here. Ale tells Padre A that BM is in a bad way. Padre A gives Ale heck about taking up with BM when he knew he shouldn't have. Now Ale and his conscience will have to pay the consequences. Padre A wants to go see BM and Ale escorts him to her hospital room door. Ruh, Roh!

Padre A just waltzes right in there and what does he see? His eyes, his eyes! Addled is atop BM and Padre A has a flipping cow! He is about to hit Addled upside his head, but Addled tells the Padre that BM wanted it as bad as Addled did! Ooopppps wrong thing to say to a Padre! Addled does a runner and BM spins some more crap about how Addled was trying to take advantage of her, as in he was trying to abuse her, the poor pitiful thing! Addled was kissing her and the next thing she knew he was trying to abuse her. All she really eva wanted from Addled was his friendship and his help. Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, sister. STFU! Now it's all her fault and she wants to die. Alrighty then, the Padre of course feels for her and tells her not only is Dios with her, Padre is too. She must live.

As JL was leaving earlier Sanho caught up with him and wanted to know JL's bidness with Ale. I wasn't paying that close attention, but if you did please let me know what JL told him. Later, JL and Sandho are in a cafe and talking. Sandho is gathering intel. He says he wants to meet some people here. JL tells Sandho he is a friend of Ale's and a Padrino to Laurito, Ale and Monse's little boy. Sandho wants to know what type of a person Ale is. JL's antenna is on alert. Sandho tells JL that he is an abogado for Fablush and she had no clue about Ale. Sandho wants to know if Ale would help Fablush financially. JL says that Ale has lots of lana, dinero, pasta, take your pick. There are definite peso signs in Sandho's eyes.

Monse and Mama Rosy are folding little nappies and bebe things and talking about Ale. Monse hopes he comes home soon. Who should now come to throw a dark shadow on this peaceful activity you ask? It's Graceless of course, she sucks the happy out of every place she goes. Anyhoo, Rosy answers the door and Graceless just looks her up and down and asks for Monse. Monse is surprised she is there and Mama Rosy, that's what Monse calls her, is off to tend to little Laurito while Monse and Graceless have their little visit. Graceless looks like she smells something odorous, it must be the smell of the sulpher that surrounds her, as she hears Monse call Rosy, Mama. We'll get back to them in a tic.

My eyes, My eyes! It's EZ and poor Tia Lottie, having a stroll while he is on his own intel mission. EZ tells her about BM being in the hospital and Lottie is floored. EZ also just doesnt' understand Nadia, she is a strange one. Lottie tells EZ all about the cheating Graceless, she cheated on her dear husband and has been jerking her children around. Lottie doesn't understand the half of what is going on. She also tells EZ's eager ears that Graceless was telling Dimmy he was the son of Don Benny, but that wasn't true, cause Dimmy turned out to be Lauro's but that Graceless did have a child with Don Benny and that is was a girl. You don't say from EZ.

Graceless is very pithed that that overdressed servant is being called Mama by Monse. Graceless is Monse's Mama y punto! Monse is only too happy to call Rosy Mama, cause well she always wanted a Mama like Rosy, one that loves unconditionally, not one that only looks for what they can get out of her children. Not like Graceless who lies about everything from Dimmy being Don Benny's. How she is foreva grubbing for money. Graceless goes on her own rant. That money of Don Benny's should have been hers. Graceless wuz robbed! Monse tells her to STFU, well not that, but we are! Monse actually tells her to shut it! Now Monse has a question, whose hair sample did Graceless give for that ADN (DNA) test anyways? Graceless says she doesn't need to 'splain nothing! Monse says you had a girl with Don Benny not a boy! Cara de impactada de Graceless.

AVANCES:

Monse is leaving Ale again, or is she? Tune in Este Lunes to find out from Ms Gloria what the heck is up with that. MUST SEE TV!

Good Morning Y'all

I am working on the recap and hope to have it up soon. Please comment away in the meantime ; )

Madelaine "There is a disturbance in the force, known as Pedro Medina, and as his machinations start to sprout and bear fruit, we on the Patio, have prepared that Bunker again". I'm on board, totally intrigued and anxiously awaiting your recap.

You are on fire already out of the gate.

Now at my age I should be loathe to admit it, but I always liked the Backstreet Boys. I Want It That Way was great fun to begin the morning (was that really 15 years ago??) sigh.

Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane.

Diana

Good Morning and thank you Madelaine! I'm watching on hulu+ and just finished the little convo of JL and Montse (with Rosy as chaperone) and slimy boyfriend of Gracie spawn listening at the door. I have a sick feeling in my stomach already. Maybe I should read the recap and decide whether I want to inflict this episode on myself. I also have the sinking feeling Ale's going to be brining Maria back to the house despite Montse's entreating him not to do so. Fatima, can I join you and JudyB? I feel siiiick! Thanks, Madeline, need to get some fresh air!

Madelaine - The Backstreet Boys make me laugh and dance. Great starter for a muy frustrating episode.

Good Afternoon Y'all:

The Recap is up. Please enjoy ; ) Remember the blue letters are links to music I have picked for our particular characters : )

" There is a disturbance in the force known as Pedro Medina and his machinations are beginning to sprout" I laughed so hard and its so true! Pedro is the master of evilness in our dear novela ,not even Graceless can top it

"His eyes, his eyes ,Addied is atop BM and Padre A has a flipping cow! " Oh jesus christ i cant stop laughing from where do you come from with this gold? Ay Madelaine a ti no te falta jesus!

I also liked your definition of the Brown Noser xD,this is so hilarious ,"you have your nose in your bosses butt it turns brown!" Simply amazing

Mads thanks so much for this great recap and fun pop song from the past!! [Diana regardless of your age fun/happy music is to be enjoyed at any age.]

Lila, if you stomached the scene w/JL, I think you can watch the rest. Though watch out for BM messing w/Ale, it's a doozy.

Mads thanks so much for your take on Maria's Manipulation. Though she coached into shaming/manipulating Ale, it was brilliant b/c most of it was true. Ale used her and toss her away like an old shoe knowing her feelings for him and that he did NOT return those feelings. If Pedro had not been behind this, I would say that Maria is definitely Graceless's spawn b/c that performance was straight out of the latter's playbook.

Anyone else notice how Ale didn't answer Montse when she told him her one condition about Maria? That guy, he is pretty but until he gets a grip, not good spousal material. Rosie's comment about Maria being alone in the world is understandable but still a huge problem [and none of them know about Maria's murder attempt].

While getting Maria back into Ale's house is Pedro's scheme and plot devise, I am disappointed the writers seem to be making Ale stupid again. TNs are better when the good guys are as smart if not smarter than the bad guys. As a college educated person, Ale should know someone attempting suicide twice needs professional help. And while the lying, bribed doctor told him otherwise, why wouldn't he get a second opinion? If for no other reason, then to tell his wive, I talked to two docs and they both said this must happen.

In addition to calling Fina ugly, Graceless said wasn't going to thank her for getting Dim to stay. The verbal abuse that goes on in that Mendoza household is just sad. And Gracie's crazed statement about Ben's money being hers almost guarantees that her tn karma will be being penniless, my guess. Loved Montse telling her horrible mother about her new mom!

Not looking forward to Ale disregarding Montse's feelings AGAIN and then not "allowing" her to leave. Even the language gives me twitches.

mads...thanks so much for the excellent! detailed recap? I especially appreciated it because hub and I went to a concert last night so I missed this episode.

it is so frustrating watching the bad guys manipulating the good guys and each other. Malria is beyond redemption. She is just so cheesy and sleezy. If padre really believes that tale she spun about Addled abusing her in HER HOSPITAL BED after her suicide attempt...please. Padre is increasingly clueless and ineffective ! And if Ale really tries to bring that wacked out viper back into his home...and I bet that he is dumb enough to try that.......pplleeaasesee.

Now we have fabulous Fabulush and Dances with Drunks adding to the bad. I may have to shower after every episode. I hope that the good guys smarten up a bit. Watching the bad guys slither all around the good guys makes me frustrated and crazy. I am still confused about the relationship between Fabulush and Amelia. Has Amelia seen her throughout the years ? would Amelia recognize an imposter?

Yeah ,Ale is being stupid again,i would never ever dare to bring someone who tried to KIDNAP my child into my house, that would be a fatal mistake on my part and it would be very retarded. And i liked the Monse vs Gracie scene, everything about it was fantastic ,especially when Monse began calling Rosario "Mama Rosario",it touched my heart

Madelaine, thanks for the Backstreet Boys earworm and your choice music accompaniments through out your very entertaining recap. I particularly liked "Sandho" and "My eyes. My eyes."

I never thought that doorbell would stop ringy ringing last night. It was almost funny.

Looks like Ale is still too stupid to see how dangerous BSC BM is and unfortunately his guilt was only intensified by the doctor telling him BM needed a family experience for awhile before being hospitalized for her depression. The first avance SEEMS to have Ale bringing BM to stay at his and Monte's home again and Montse wanting to pack up and leave. A second avance shown in QPTR SEEMS to follow the first and has Ale not allowing Montse to pack up and leave. I hope they are just playing games with the viewers because if Ale expects Maria to recuperate at his home and Montse to stay there and put his child in danger he really has bought a ticket on the BM crazy train; probably a one way ticket.

The worst scene was BM smirking as Padre Anselmo yelled at Adolfo for going for it with BM in her hospital bed.

The best scene was Montse telling Graciela why she calls mamá Rosario "mamá", etc.

Jarifa

Oh and Madelaine ,what Sandro said to JL was that he justcame from Miami and he doesnt know the pueblo and if JL can find him a good place to go eat .JL said yes and also offered himself to drive him trough the center of Aguazul.

Madelaine: You ignited the fire with your smoking intro this morning. Your amazing recap stoked, sizzled and burned the flames. The recap begain as a blaze and ended as a majestic inferno.

"Just as we on the Patio are about to roll up our pant legs and lift our boots up in the air, here comes JL, that sexy beast in his uniform, okay, okay, he's so damn sexy" was my favorite - loved it. "Monse tells her to STFU, well not that, but we are!", "Oh, and he really isn't a lawyer, he's just playing one", " His eyes, his eyes!" and "My eyes, My eyes" were simply great. Enjoyed the songs, particularly,"She’s Come Undone”.

Best moment of the night? "Graceless says she doesn't need to 'splain nothing! Monse says you had a girl with Don Benny not a boy! Cara de impactada de Graceless." Strike one.

That said, there were so many cringeworthy moments. EZ and Carlota, our dear Tia's loose lips preparing to sink many ships. Pedro has indeed infiltrated everywhere he needs to be and is in possession of facts that he will use to his hideous advantage. Nadia did indeed seem gobsmacked by Esme's news. I disagree though. I don't think Pedro likes women. Or men. I could be totally wrong, but I think he is asexual.

Come on Padre. Maria is such a liar - please don't take her word. For anything. Ack.

Karen your noting the following about Ale “That guy, he is pretty but until he gets a grip, not good spousal material” was perfect and on point.

"Dances with Drunks"indeed Susanlynn. I think FG is going to "chew" up the scenery in this role. He's so much fun to watch.

We all realize Ale is bringing Maria back to the house right?? I'm not even sure Monse threatening to leave with Lauro will do any good.

Madelaine,this was spectacular!

Diana

Hey Mads, what a rip-snorter of a recap, complete with earworms, hooray!! Gotta say "She's Come Undone" is a stroke of brilliance. I love how you are able to grab the perfect songs out of the air, spanning the decades and genres. Well done!

So how come Montse has to be chaperoned with JL but Ale gets to see BM all by his itty bitty lonesome? I know, I know, the double standard runs rampant not to mention he is an airhead...BUT STILL! Drives me crazy, harrumph.

Karen, ITA Ale is lousy husband material.

And Padre catches BM doing the horizontal and he believes her? Pah!

Thanks Madelaine!! I couldn't help but giggle at "Just as we on the Patio are about to roll up our pant legs and lift our boots up in the air...".

Ok, I'm watching Maria whip the guilt trip on Ale saying many of the things we said about his objectification and use of her. You know what Maria? All the women in the show are objectified and we all have to die of something! See ya later! Too bad it's not going to happen like that. Ok. . .back to the show.

thanks so much for this upbeat telling of the goings-on in Aguazul. And thanks for setting it out for us to chew over all weekend.

So much lying and gaming, so much stupidity last night -- it reminded me of an episode of El Tal that Blue Lass recapped around the theme: Quién es más tonto?

Is it Alejandro for believing the boughten shrink?

Is it Padre Anselmo for believing that Adolfo was forcing himself on innocent Maria and then AGREEING NOT TO TELL ANYONE because she was embarrassed?

Is it Montserrat for welcoming a stranger (Sandro) into her home and then leaving him alone while she, Rosario and JL went off to talk?

Is it Carlota for TELLING EZ WHAT NADIA SAID about him instead of heeding her warning and keeping an eye on EZ?

Is it Graciela for wearing such heavy chandelier earrings (that looked as if she had indeed plucked them from the chandelier) that her ear lobes looked about to tear apart?

Is it Josefina for being surprised at how mean Graciela is?

I think it's between Alejandro and Padre.

P.S. Sylvia, Alejandro asked Montserrat if she wanted to accompany him to visit Maria and she turned him down. Personally, I'm glad Rosario was in the room with Montse and JL -- even with Rosario present, JL could barely contain his obsession. (He came to the house asking to see Alejandro, as I recall, but then asked to talk to Montse alone because Alejandro had gone off to see Maria).

Count me among the lovers of the "disturbance in the force". Lord knows we have plenty of denizens on the Dark Side right now!! Great recap Mads on a frustrating episode.

HATE HATE HATE when they show how a doctor can be so easily paid off. One of the clichés in TN's I just wish would stop as a regular plot device.

And why is everyone conveniently forgetting, except Monse, that this "depressed" woman tried to hurt Carlotta and take the baby. I'm with the patio, why do the writers use those Stupid Pills whenever it suits their purpose. Maria needs love and care...take her to the hacienda and send Dominga and Mac to take care of her. Ale can make visits there. Bunch of bunk she HAS to stay with him and he should be smart enough to know that. He SHOULD be smart enough to know someone clinically diagnosed should have assistance, medication and if shown to have a history of being a danger to themselves and others, perhaps a stay where they can have on-site counseling for a time. What was her excuse before Ale went back to Monse? She was a liar and manipulator then...Padre should know better.

So I'm hoping if Monse puts her foot down and SHE decides to be the one to go somewhere else, that Ale realizes what and who are his priorities. If not, Rosy needs to give her son a good kick in the rear and slap on the head.

Not enough FinDim last night. I sense a realization by Fina that Graceless, though abusive in her language, is more of an annoying gnat she has to put up with. She seems to stand straighter and not seem so upset or bent after their confrontations.

Did enjoy the Monse take down of her mother and Esme straightening out Nadia. I like these two now on the same page and perhaps being able to make some behind the scenes trouble?

Daisynjay

Madelaine - Terrific recap. The song titles are hilarious. Loved "No Souvenirs" after Sandro was left all alone in the living room free to take goodies. My favorite line: "she sucks the happy out of every place she goes."

I'm not faulting Monse, but Ale did ask her if she wanted to accompany him to the hospital. An older, wiser wife would've gone with him to head off a Maria disaster.

NovelaMaven - "Quién es más tonto?" is a hoot.

NM, thank you for clarifying that one detail. Gosh, I thought Montse was smarter than that, she really should have accompanied Ale, as odious a task it might be.

Yes indeedy, it sure sounded like a night for the game Quién es más tonto? (If I recall correctly we were spoofing the old SNL skit "Quién es más macho?", verdad?) Ahh...El Tal...hard to out-tonto that one, LOL!

¿Quién es más macho? haw! Sylvia, they play that game around here two, but generally there are just two contestants!

I'm thinking we may be getting ready to out-tonto El Tal. (O no es así, Niecie?)

See you later -- I have a date!

Thank you Madelaine! I watched the episode. . .Whew! It wasn't that bad: Al-dope-o getting caught with his pants down was a great stress relief! Of course Ale didn't see this -- doh! A high point was Dimmie actually looking lovingly at Fina as he caressed her face! Ahhhh! I likes the slow burn baby!

JL was very crafty with what's his name: he made that statement about Ale having lots of money just so he could guage the reaction and, as you said Madelaine, I'm sure he saw the dollar signs pop up and heard a ka-ching as well.

I'm glad we didn't see Ale actually taking Maria back to the house but I bet that's where this is going. Let Montse leave and take the baby but let the crooked lawyer-cousin/sister thing not last too long. Oh hell, it's going to be what ever it's going to be! I'll see what the rest of y'all think. I just would love some anvils all along the way and just afraid the eeevil just like this winter will be long and drawn out!

Funny recap Madelaine full of Oh-SNAP, crackle and pop! Thank you M'Dear!

What fun, Madelaine. I enjoyed and savored every word. I also got a huge kick out of Demetrio's responses to your recap. He clearly enjoyed it as much as I did.

As some might suspect, my favorite scenes last night were those with María. She perfectly played all three of those guys, Alejandro, Adolfo, and Padre Anselmo. I especially enjoyed those cute little smirks that seemed almost directed at us. While I must admit that I might have to reevaluate my aspirations for her (She may actually be as evil as some of you imagine) I still marvel at the beauty and the acting skill of Grettell Valdez. She's certainly managed to get under the skin of almost everyone here on the Patio.

I'm holding out the hope that she'll eventually turn on Pedro and become the instrument of his destruction.

Even though Graciela called Josefina ugly, she did concede that she is simpatica... a positive step?

Nadia assured Esmeralda that she would protect her from Pedro. Does anyone have an idea how? She sounded so certain and yet she can't even protect herself.

Carlota looked downright stunning last night. Too bad she couldn't control that careless mouth of hers.

While María may indulge in delusional wishful thinking, is JL any less guilty of much the same thing?

Carlos

I especially appreciated the words María used to seduce Adolfo... who ever gets an offer like this?

I'm not asking for you to look for me tomorrow nor that you say sweet things to me... much less that you hold me after we make love. Ay, Adolfo, you're a man, take me and then get out.

Yikes!

Carlos

Thanks Karen. Yah I made it and I have to agree ole Ale handed Maria the script to that dog and pony show and she DID perform! Yup, he's gotten stoopid again or just never stopped being stoopid. Hoo boy! Back to comments

Rosario needs to start acting like the dama of the casa and stop answering the door! You are not the help.

If you can’t do that then take off those clunky shoes and go back to being barefoot. Once a campesina always a campesina supongo.

Did you get a load of that rug Sandro was wearing? Somebody close to him should tell him that he needs an adjustment.

I remember him from "Laberintos de Pasión."

When that psychiatrist stated talking after a couple of oraciones I knew that this guy was either an impostor or on the take.

Ah Carlos, I was thinking of you when Maria spouted those poetic lines. Yes, what sane man could resist! A pretty funny scene actually. Although I can't imagine being in the mood hoochy-coochy after the knockout drops they gave her.

MADS...thank God for your rollicking style and music clips because this was a downright depressing episode.

Like Demetrio, this was one of my favorite lines:

"Padre A just waltzes right in there and what does he see? His eyes, his eyes! Addled is atop BM and Padre A has a flipping cow!"

followed by

[Graciela] "She sucks the happy out of every place she goes."

But I'm going to try not to even think about the events in last night's episode and instead just let your marvelous musical earworms percolate in my head. And yikes, have to get up an hour earlier tomorrow. I HATE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!!!!!

NovelaMaven: "Quién es más tonto?" Perfect game for this episode and you hit the tonto highlights. . .lowlights! BIG DUMMIES!

Madelaine I also enjoyed the playlist: She's Come Undone. . .if that's a reference to Maria she's still together enough to take down AlDopey, Alley Oop and Padrecito! Sheesh!

Great work, Madelaine.

Most of my favorite lines have already been cited, but I have to note the Stairs of Doom comment. Would the writers do that to Daniela Castro in two drama novelas in a row? Typecasting is now becoming extreme when we end up keeping track of how many cell phones Sergio Sendel destroys and how many times DC does an intrusive touch as an expression of objectification. Or her fashion felonies.

And didn't FG smoke cigars in AV?

I completely agree that Alejandro should demand a second opinion about Maria. It's also too bad he wasn't the one who walked in on her and Adolfo.

I fear Rosario's IQ is dipping in her "pobre muchacha" comment about Maria. She's seen Maria at her worst and should know better than that. Monserrat needs to put her foot down now.

Madelaine!!!

Super fast recap! Gracias! So nice to look and find it there before it gets fuzzy in my mind. What an episode. I think that Ale needs a psychiatrist if he allows MB to return. How can he do that to Montse after all they've been through? I think he should have gone with his first impulse to send MB to a clinic. When does Pedro get a good fist in the face? Or worse? Much worse?

Thanks for a great and super detailed recap.

Gale

Wow...Malria is feeling frisky after having her stomach pumped. Who knew that a near death experience could have this effect on someone....but then, we are talking about Malria.

Carlos, you are a constant source of optimism when it comes to Malria. Hope springs eternal.

Carlos, is that what men really want and how they think? If so I'm so glad I'm asexual.

UA,

To be perfectly honest, I think that such a coldly blatant request would be both frightening and chilling to most men, but as a fantasy... well... and as good TV... I guess we all have our unique opinions.

I could see how this could be a woman's fantasy as well...

"Get over here... make me purr... then get out... NEXT!"

But not being a woman, I wouldn't know about such things.

Ladies?

Carlos

Carlos and Urban,

Perhaps our Maria spent a little too much time reading Erica Jong's "Fear of Flying" on those lazy hacienda afternoons.

(My best guess anyway)

Hmmm..what an interesting Saturday night conversation.

Novela Maven..I remember reading "Fear of Flyiing, , but I doubt that Malria is much of a reader.

Carlos...no...that is not my fantasy...except for the purring.

I hope we get a psychiatrist soon and i dont mean the bribed one! The protangoists IQ are getting lower and lower ,especially Ale ,Padre Anselmo and Rosario.I miss the inteligence of the protangoists in Amor Bravio, they were very inteligtent,i miss these geniuses .Here Pedro is still ruling them all with his hyper inteligence,he is always a step ahead of the good people.

Madelaine,
Thanks for the fun-filled recap. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
All of my favorite lines have already been mentioned, so I won't go into great detail, but I had to mention this line, "Monse tells her to STFU, well not that, but we are!" Loved it because it's so true.

I hate the fact that the writers are basically forcing Ale to have BM by his side. What? Que? Why are you doing this to my Ale? Pobresito! He is trying to do the right thing by having her enter a clinic to help her with her depression. Then they have this quack come in to tell him that BM doesn't need a psych clinic, but HIM? OMG! Talk about laying on the guilt trip. I am tired of seeing the bad guys bribe everyone to get their way. And I don't think that Ale WANTS to have BM at his house. If he did, he wouldn't have told the doctor that he wanted to put her in a hospital for her depression. Now he's feeling obligated by this shrink to help BM in ways he wasn't prepared for. And all of this is due Pedro's evil intensions. I really hate Pedro Medina! Can someone please slap him real hard. Or punch him in the nose. (I heard that it really hurts when you get punched in the nose) I hope someone rips out his mustache hairs one by one!

UA: I think it would have been worse had Ale been the one to walk in on BM and Addled. He might have thought the same as the Padre, and his guilt would have been greater.

Loved seeing Montse calling Rosario 'Mama Rosario' in front of Graceless, plus her reaction. That was priceless!

Will comment more tomorrow. I need to go to bed, since we just lost an hour! I Hate daylight savings Sunday. Boo!

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

Not if he had been stealthy and eavesdropped a minute first.

I also hate Daylight Savings Time. It takes me a week to adjust to the Spring Forward. I don't mind the Fall Back.

Good Morning Y'all:

Thanks so much for all your kind words. This is one great conversation, I have to say.

Diana

Have you checked your cable guide? I checked mine again this morning and now instead of TdA at noon on Monday, they have, are you ready, Destilando Amor from noon to 2:00pm, squee!!!!! I can't wait!

Diana:

It has been fifteen years for those Backstreet Boys, but the harmony they have! I also loved your line "loose lips sink ships", that was said quite a bit in the Navy, and our Lottie should have kept her mouth shut, but then again, she doesn't know a thing about EZ. If she did, she'd be running as fast as she could go.

Lila:

I know what you mean! I needed some air after this epi, believe me! Between Graceless, BM and Sandho, it was too much bad and not enough good. One tiny scene of Dimmy and Fina and that was it. At least, we got to see JL in uniform!

Neice:

This was frustrating wasn't it? I agree about Monse going with Ale, but then again, she'd probably knock BM into next year. The "No Souvenirs" had to do with JL and Monse, a line in the song is "You packed up your heart (Monse) and you left no souvenirs (for JL)".

Demetrios:

I am glad I made you laugh. When these episodes are so darn frustrating I have to make them a bit laughable. I got my sense of humor from my Daddy. He was a hoot and a half, he always made me laugh.

Karen:

I too loved your line about Ale being pretty but not good spousal material, Amen to that! But at least Monse is standing firm about her not wanting BM in her home. I never trust these advances. They are always fooling us with them. That's why I left it as a question. I see the later advances for this one too, during QPTR and they are somewhat off too. I don't like Graceless always giving Fina the bidness so to speak. Just once I would love to see Fina slap Graceless right across her ugly face! Now that would be great.

Madelaine, witty and sharp AS ALWAYS!!

Even funnier was Demetrios telling you: "Ay Madelaine a ti no te falta jesus!"

Gotta say, the two of you had me laughing!

Maria is so predictable and so utterly boring. Honestly, who cares about this chick anymore? Who honestly cares?

As for the writers, I can see they are getting a tad worried about the length of this TN, so they have to resort to the usual boring nonsense. Guess what writers, Viewerville knew you would pull this stunt. Maria is predictable. Addled is predictable. The Padre is more than predictable. Predictable + Predictable = BORING.

Rosario, QUIT opening that stinking front door! You are NOT the housekeeper.

Carlotta, methinks your loose lips are going to cause so many problems for so many people. When you find out what your loose lips have done, I fear for how this will make you feel.

Great work, Madelaine!

Fatima

Even Gods cannot forgive Padres Anselmos stupidity, illuminate him so his brain cells may be cured, for darks souls need to be burnt!

Bet Ale does not know what a brain cell is,he only met one ,the one behind bars.Rosario thinks a brain cell is a cursed footwear made in Medina.corp that needs to be avoided at all costs!

So dissapointed in the utter stupidity of some characters!

Susanlynn:

Dances with drunks indeed! I loved that. I agree with Diana that FG will chew up the scenery. He is sooo good at that. I laughed so much about your having to take a shower after each capitulo. You always make me laugh!

Jarifa:

Loved your ringy ringing of that doorbell, so funny. It's true though. Poor Rosy was constantly at that door. I too think that Ale riddled with guilt. I too think half the time those writers are messing with us with the advances, they have done it before. I too loved that scene where Monse basically told Graceless she was a horrid Mama and would prefer that Rosy is her Mama. Too bad Monse didn't do a finger poke or two to Graceless head.

Demetrios:

Thanks about what JL and Sandho said.

Cap'n:

I am so with you about how come Monse has to be chaperoned but Ale doesn't. "She's Come Undone" is so perfect for BM although, I think she's been undone for some time now ; )

NovelaMaven:

This was a quite frustrating capitulo wasn't it? I have to say though, that Pedro's mis planes always seem to have a lot of stumbling blocks so let's see how far he gets with this little plan.

DaisynJay:

Right, right about the Docs. For pity's sake they need to come up with something new! I wonder how far Pedro's tentacles go! Is everyone "dirty"? We need some good Scoobies for this one! You are so right about Fina too. She is standing straighter and looking her nose down at Graceless. Yeah for Fina!

Mads- Thanks so much for the fun recap! I'll catch up on these last few episodes later today. Not looking forward to seeing Maria dupe Ale, AGAIN. Actually Ale is the one who needs supervision when he's alone with Maria because she knows exactly how to wrap him around her finger. While even if Monse were alone with JL while he bombards her with words of love, and badmouths Ale, she would never fall for it. She'd continue to profess her love of Ale and tell JL that he needs to move on and move out. She's much stronger than Ale in this regard.

Even believing the doctor is legit, Ale should have shared with the doctor that even if the best medicine for Maria is to be in a family setting, he and Maria are no longer like family. He is her obsession, he took advantage of that, and it is no way healthy for them to be under the same roof again. He's acting as if they still have the innocent, untainted brother-sister relationship they had before Monse came into his life. He knows this is not true, and this should be the main reason he should refuse to have her under the same roof. Not to mention the fact that she assaulted his wife's aunt and tried to kidnap HIS CHILD! Another thing he should have mentioned to the "clueless" doctor, don't you think?

Lila:

I laughed at your Addled was caught with his pants down! I should have used that in the recap! JL sure has Sandho's number. Sandho's eyes were kachinging, lol.

Carlos:

I have to say I have to agree with you about BM's playing these guys like a fine tuned fiddle. She plays they come running! Or maybe the Pied Piper. She just knows how to play them all! The women see right through her. Thanks so much for the line that BM said. I got the gist of it, but I didn't know it was that much! My, oh, my! I'm with Susanlynn on the purring.

Oxnard:

I agree about Rosy, although I think she still isn't comfortable in her part in the household. She has been subservient for all these years, it will take her time to get used to the idea she doesn't have to answer the door, cook, etc. As far as FG, I saw him in Amores Verdaderos and he can dance! He is sooo good in all his roles.

JudyB:

I am so with you and Urban about the time change. Can't stand it. It takes me some time to get used to the time change too. I lol'd at your hoochy coochie line. I'm still laughing!

Lila:

BM has been undone for quite some time, I don't think she knows it yet ; )

Urban:

OMGee I didn't know about the stairs of doom and DC in other TNs. I have only seen her in Una Familia Con Suerte, she is great at comedy. They really haven't used Stairs of Doom lately, have they? I can't remember the last time I saw someone tumble down the stairs. Yes, FG did smoke cigars along with Anibal (ER) in Amores Verdaderos.

Gale:

I agree about Pedro, but his mis planes seem to go wrong a lot. Let's hope that keeps happening.

Susanlynn:

You and JudyB have got that right about BM. How in the world can BM be thinking about doing the horizontal mambo after having her stomach pumped? These writers!

AuntyAnn:

I so agree with you. I think Ale really doesn't want BM in his home, but feels riddled with guilt for the way he led her on. I'm glad that Padre A actually called him on that. Padre A has been telling him this all along. Now Ale has to deal with the consequences. I too wish he would get a second opinion from a Doc outside of Aguazul.

Fatima:

I so agree with you about Lottie. Poor woman will feel riddled with guilt when she finds out who EZ really is, a henchie of the evil Pedro!

Demetrios:

I must learn never to drink coffee when I read your comments! I agree about the brain cells for Ale, when Dios said brains, Ale thought Dios said rains and he ran for the hills!

Now I have a Spanish question. I have been watching some videos on Youtube, of Sting's "They Dance Alone". One version is live in Chile and one is live in Argentina. The song is about the "disappeared", those killed by the military juntas in those countries and how the family want answers. Sting speaks/sings flawless Spanish. My question is why aren't the words for dancing the same? In Argentina he uses bailar but in Chile he used danzen. The same with the word estas. He used estan in Chile. Is this a dialect? Just curious.

Vivi:

I so agree with everything you said about Ale. The guy is just not thinking straight. He didn't even ask the Doc what BM said as a past history involving him, even though a legit Doc wouldn't have told him anything. At least Ale should have given his side of their history. You are so right!

Madelaine, it's regional differences. It may also have to do with influences from immigrant populations. Like in Mexico and most other Spanish-speaking countries the word "jamon" prevails while in Argentina the word is "pancetta" because of the heavy Italian influence.

Vivi, you are completely right. Alejandro should have told him everything. All about how Maria kept trying to seduce him after he married Monserrat, how she stole money from the desk, and all her trash-talking. It doesn't take a medical degree too see a pattern of behavior that says to get her out of that environment.

Of course, this doctor is on the take. As in past examples he has something in his past that Pedro can hold over his head. This is so sick.

Pretty sure Mayor Pig threatened the Doc with his family or with his past,That manipulative Pig needs some good slaughtering! Pedro is worse then Darkness itself,a hellspawn like no other.

Madelaine, you have once again made my day by noting TdA is staying on at 8! So excited! When I have a day off, I will indeed be glued to the set watching DA. Ahhh Rodrigo...

Diana

Thanks, Mads,

Fabuloso as always! I need a lot of help in clearing up what happened to Gracie's child. First, we were told that the child died.

Then I thought that Padre A confirmed that the child died, and that he and Macario had buried the child. Then we heard that
Gracie had asked Macario for a favor.

So, now I am confused as to whether and why Macario brought the child to Amelia. Was the child thought to be dead and then was revived?

I understand that Ben gave the girl to his sister and her husband who could not have children - to raise her as their own. Then when the baby was 3, the parents died in an auto accident.

I don't understand the middle part.
Perhaps I got that whole thing wrong about the baby dying.

Thanks for all the clever earworms
and all of the helpful details in all of your recaps.

All good commens.

Graciela wanted the baby dead because it was an disturbe for her upcoming marriage with Lauro. The baby ,after abortion was actually still alive. The sister of Benjamin could never had children so Benjamin,in order to get rid of the baby for good gave her to his sister while pretending to be the babys uncle. Then after the accident happened ,Benjamin put Fabiola into the internat. Correct me if im mistaken please.

I don't think Benjamin knew the baby was his child, if Graceless' baby was the one handed to him. I don't think he would have missed the opportunity to use this against Graceless, considering how angry he was with her on the phone when she called to tell him she was marrying Lauro.

Clara Fying:

Hello and glad to have you back. This is the way this was explained about Gracie's bebe.

Gracie had the bebe and thought the bebe was dead, so Mac somehow ran into Amelia who determined the bebe was NOT dead. I think Amelia did tell Don Benny about the bebe and since his sister and her hubby couldn't have children he sent the bebe to live with them and then put her in boarding schools for her education. I know boarding schools don't take girls of three, I'm sure she must have had some type of Nanny until she was school age. Amelia has known all along where Fabiola has been. Amelia has been in touch with her and seen her over the years. She knows a lot about Fabiola's life.

As far as Graceless goes, she may believe the bebe is dead, and has not idea Fabiola is still alive. Maybe that's why Mac and Padre A had a service and burial for the bebe. Maybe Mac didn't tell Padre that the baby was alive and so they had a service and burial with rocks in the casket of course. It's probably another secret yet to come out.

Demetrios,

I don't recall anything about any abortion. I think that would have been very unlikely if Graciela was in a convent.

I think that it's interesting that Amelia seems to be the only one who knows the whole truth about Graciela's baby.

Carlos

The reason I think Don Benny must have known about Fabiola is because he had been sending her money every single month.

Also about Mac having had that bebe, it seems he was handed the bebe because Gracie said it was dead, and he was on the way, I think, to take the bebe to the Padre for burial, and Amelia must have come for a visit and then found the bebe was not dead but alive. I hope this clears it up some.

I think that "abortion" and "miscarriage" are the same word in Spanish. The baby could have been slightly premature.

Fabiola, if she is Graceless' daughter, would be 30 or 31, the same age as Alejandro. I think the accident happened 25 years ago, so she would have been put in a convent boarding school at the age of 5. I still think she is an impostor.

Urban:

Thanks so much for the explanation of bailar and danzen. It makes perfect sense. Thanks again so much.

Yeah, thanks Madelaine and Carlos that was a very confusing reveal, thanks for explaining.Well when that secret comes out ,just imagine Gracies fury and Macario is going to get a big punch to the head i can assure you that,if not a bullet to his head because Gracie wanting to shut him up for good or out of rage and will most likely break her friendship with Amelia completely. Its getting very interesting i must say!

Regarding Gracie's baby. I remember Amelia said that Benny knew it was his baby. He gave her to his sister because he feared that Gracie would do something to the baby (like try to do away with her again), and because his sister could not have children.

The thing I do not know is when we saw Benny on the phone with Gracie in that flashback, had she already had the baby? Because that would make Fabby older than Ale. If that is true, would Fabby claim the rights to the Almonte inheritance because she is the first born?

Before Benjamin took the crank,he changed his testamento, maybe before Ale ,Fabiola was the el heredera universal but because Fabiola is an irresponsible skank ,he chose Ale instead.

Since both are illegitimate and Mexico doesn't seem to have any laws dictating who inherits in such a case, it would only be a matter of family custom who would inherit the bulk of any estate. Neither would have a greater claim on the basis of gender or birth order.

If Benjamin knew that Fabiola was his child and knew she had become a skank, leaving everything to Alejandro made perfect sense. Also, if she were born prematurely she might be younger than he is.

Not that this matters. If Amelia hasn't seen her for a long time she is likely to be an impostor and a grifter. Either way I don't think she's going to survive the story.

Isn't it also bizarre that Benjamin had no photos of her in his possession at the time of his death?

AuntyAnn:

Yes, she'd already had the bebe because she was marrying Lauro, she had that bebe before that happened. I think maybe four months later she when she married Lauro, enough time for her to heal from the birth. I don't know if she could claim the whole inheritance, she was never recognized as Don Benny's child, but Ale was recognized in the will, as he lay dying Don Benny told the lawyer that Ale was his son and recognized him then. She could still claim some part of it though, with a DNA test, as Graceless tried to do with Dimmy.

Urban:

Fabiola is older, cause Graceless had the bebe already, where Rosy hadn't been raped yet by Don Benny. That happened after Don Benny got off the phone. I'd say Fabiola is at least a year older, give or take a couple months more or less than Ale. Ale is younger.

About Benjamin not having any photos of Fabiola,it is because Gracie was a frequent visitor and also because Benjamin wasnt a very noble man,he valued nothing,he only showed a bit of his sweet mercy when he was taking the crank and Fabiola was as much as a disturbance to Benny as it was to Graciela.

Thanks for all of the comments trying to clear this up. One more point of confusion.... Why was Ben angry at G for marrying L? And why did Gracie marry L knowing that Ben had much more money? Perhaps Ben wasn't the marrying kind, but why would Ben even care if G was married if all he wanted was a series of soirees?

Also, why would Macario not reveal to the Padre that the baby was alive and had found a good home?
Could he have been threatened by Ben? Did Ben prepare the fake casket? Such confusion.

Also could Fab have been switched with Maria at some point?

Again, thanks..

I think there was a comment that the Mendozas had more money at that point. This probably equaled out over the next few years after Graceless married Lauro.

Of course it would: Benjamin grew his wealth while Graceless was depleting Lauro's.

The big difference (I think) was the social position. There has been no information about this yet but I believe that Benjamin was a self-made upstart while the Mendozas were in that area for at least a few generations. This got Graceless up the social ladder which marrying Benjamin wouln't have been able to do even had he been the marrying kind.

Lucky for him he wasn't with Gracless as his main squeeze, as she would have depleted his fortune had he married her.

I suspect Benjamin may have had more control over Graceless when she had nothing and was just his mistress, as she had no signing power over his money. By marrying Lauro she took herself beyond Benjamin's ability to control her or even to see her whenever he felt like it.

Madelaine, we don't know when that phone call happened vis a vis Graceless' pregnancy. She could have made the decision to marry Lauro before even knowing that Benjamin had already knocked her up. That would then date the conceptions at about six weeks apart.

I was mistaken above; it's Alejandro who could have been born prematurely due to the stress of Rosario being in a prison. Not that it matters, as no law seems to exist to compel Benjamin to leave his property to either of them over the other. We never heard his will read out loud, but if it said "heredero universal" then it all belongs to Alejandro.

The only thing that could legally be able to upset this would be if there is no statute of limitations on another heir coming forward (which would be insane) and if there is a positive DNA test result.

Except I'm sure she's not related any more than Dimitrio is.

Mads, what a delightful recap, just now having time to comment. Just like a medicine reading it! Thank you!
And love the comments.
So Fabiola is Graceless's daughter? Or an imposter?

Is it really that easy to pay off professionals in Mexico, in real life? Or does the target audience believe that all non-poor people are unscrupulous?

Or, do the TN writers believe that the target audience believes that professionals and just about anyone are easily paid off?

Oxnard Huero- That is not a rug FG is wearing. That's all his thick hair. In the last tn he was in, Amores Verdaderos, they had it cut down short and in a Cesar cut. In Mi Pecado, they had it much longer and fuller. This length is in between, which makes sense since he's coming off his short cut in AV.

Emarie, we know that Macario had been away for a while, but I don't remember anyone saying how long.

As to whether Maria was the original baby and switched, that is possible:

Graceless did tell Padre Anselmo that she "robbed Benjamin of his baby." As I wrote that it occurred to me that she could have switched the baby with the baby of some other young woman staying in the convent for the same reason so that the other baby was handed to Amelia (who gave her to Benjamin) and Graceless' baby -- Maria -- ended up with Gaspar.

I think that Fabiola is an impostor.

As to the ease of bribing a professional, I don't think it's that easy unless the bribed person has a secret he wants kept hidden. Notice that Pedro didn't hand over the money himself. He can still use that against this doctor somewhere down the road.

Urban A,

Thanks; I like that explanation especially in light of the fact that they are making a big deal about Ale and Maria not getting it on.

Vivi,

Thanks for keeping intact the image and the gorgeous hair of one of my very favorite galans, Francisco G.,
Dances with Suave Moves, Rhythm, Unequivocal Charm and a beautiful Smile.

Thanks again to all those commenting for making this fun.

Clara Fying- You're welcome. LOL! FG's hair was also longer in Abismo, with no product (since he was a humble campesino). This "luke" has much more product and styling going on. I like all his "lukes"-- he's a handsome man. :)

Vivi:

"That is not a rug FG is wearing. That's all his thick hair. In the last tn he was in, Amores Verdaderos, they had it cut down short and in a Cesar cut. In Mi Pecado, they had it much longer and fuller. This length is in between, which makes sense since he's coming off his short cut in AV".

Vivi, I will defer to your esteemed judgment, but did you not notice all of those seagulls circling just above his head?

Madelaine, thanks for giving us the lowdown (with music!) on our low down characters.

Pedro is indeed a disturbance in the force. Love Sr. Sendel and usually find something to smile about even in his bad guys. However, this one is such a sadistic and evil puppeteer he makes me feel ill.

La Paloma, the bathtub scene had me in tears laughing ,that was a very beautiful scene.I also liked it when SS flipped and destroyed that table set for dinner and even broke his first phone yet!

They made it a point a number of times that Alejandro feels like a brother to Maria which he might anyway, as they know each other that long. However, dialogue like that isn't written for no reason.

Dear Mads, So sorry to be late on commenting on this but thanks so much, as always, for stupendous recap! This one was really funny and filled with great details. Loved the information about the expression 'brown nose' too. This is good to know! Best and thanks again, Julia R.

If Fabiola is Gracies daughter, then that makes her Monse's and Ales half sister,ewww..

Nothing new about that. See EPDA or TdA (which are the same story).

The second Fabiola decides to go to court to make a claim on Alejandro's inheritance you bet he will demand a DNA test. Considering what happened with Dimitrio's he should insist that it be a blood test and the blood be drawn in the lab in the presence of his lawyer.

Maximiliano from Tda was adopted, his real mother was Leonela, unless you meant some other blood relationship.

Demitrios- I think what urban meant is that the protagonists shared a (half) sibling in common. In TDA (and its predecessor), the protagonists shared a little sister-- she and the galan had the same father; she and the heroine had the same mother.

In Amor Bravio we also had that exact same situation.

Yes; that's what I meant. Deuced awkward, as we say on Masterpiece Theatre.

La Paloma:

I so agree with you about the evil Pedro! I too really like SS but my goodness this is the worst character he has eva played! Kudos to him though for bring it.

Emarie:

I am so glad this recap gave you some good medicine ; ) When these TNs go to the dark side I have to find a way to lighten them up : )

Diana:

Ayi, Rodrigo. He's already yelling GAVIOTA!!!! I'm watching now ; )

Vivi:

I so agree with you about FG. This is a bit off topic, but I get that UNI channel where they are showing some back in the day TNs and they have all kinds of TN actors doing promos. FG is one. He basically says if you like TNs you must be a romantic just like him with that glint in his eye, swooonnnnnnn!

Dear Madelaine:

Thank you so much for your recap. I am so late to the Patio party. I was busy all weekend. I loved your intro to Sandro:

"Oh, looky here, what have we got? Sandro Navarez, the abogado (lawyer) /grifter come to visit Ale. Oh, and he really isn't a lawyer, he's just playing one. He meets Monse and informs her he is the lawyer for Fablush (Fabiola."

OMG, Mads, you got this whole new plot squeezed into one paragraph! Way to recapitulate and condense, lady! How perfect.

Mads, you said:

"Now I know our Elna June and Carlos, are probably a bit miffed with this next part of our little drama. I expect lots of feedback on this little convo."

As you so correctly predicted, Mads, I was gobsmacked at this scene. Thank Heavens that this is just a TN, because in real life it would be socially and morally reprehensible to send Maria, a woman who has attempted suicide twice in a week, 'home' to her ex-boyfriend an his wife. My beanie blew up at that one. YGTBFK, I thought to myself.

Oh, well. I can only console myself that real life occasionally makes more sense than telenovelas. Not very often, mind you, but his is clearly one of those times.

EJ

Hi Mads and everyone else in the prior week. Just returned to the city and about finished plowing through the epis and the recaps. So much to admire in the narratives, so much to hate in the visuals. Gracias.

One thing (well, actually, there are many) but this one jumped out at me). It's about the bought-off psycho-doc recommending no treatment except returning to her "family." It drives me crazy when I know that this trope was used in exactly the same scenario, with almost the exact same dialog recently. Am I remembering it right? In El Privilegio de Amar, Cynthia Klitbo was certifiable and sent home to be with Rene Stickler. Have there been others you folks can remember?

UA--Have to comment on your examples of Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries using jamon, while Argentina uses pancetta. We lived in Montevideo, UR, right across the River Plate from Buenos Aires, with the same Italian influence to the language. However, we always used the word jamon for ham. If pancetta was used, it was probably in Italian restaurant menus. Bacon was commonly referred to as tocino.

Just to be sure I checked--although pancetta and tocino come from the same cut of port, tocino (bacon) is smoked and pancetta isn't.

Anita- At least in El Privilegio de Amar the nutcase was actually married to the galan, and he lived alone, right? There was some real points that could be made for him doing his husbandly duty. In this case, Ale is married to someone else, AND the nutcase would be coming to live in the same house as his wife and CHILD. No matter what the doctor says, Ale should have FIRST thought of the safety and well-being (physical and emotional) of his wife and child. It’s ridiculous that he so meekly accepted this “solution” without thinking of the far worse consequences.

Manicomio NOW! Maria has yet to face any consequences for her actions.

Although a prison cell for far longer than 48 hours would be more appropriate.

Gloria and I switched so I will have tonight's episode and she will have next Monday's. I promise you you will enjoy this one!
