Lo Que La Vida Me Robo #112, 4/17/14: Nadia Escapes Pedro and Graciela Tells A Whopper

Prologue

The story you are about to read about is not true. No names have been changed because there is not one innocent character on Lo Que La Vida Me Robo, except maybe Baby Laurito. Given his family, I have eve my doubts about him.

This is the city, Aguazul, Campeche, MX. I work here: not for much as it turns out, but it must be enough or I wouldn’t keep doing the job. Praise does sometimes calm the ego’s insatiable need for fuel.

I am a recapper.

Some might call me jaded. You will understand my cynicism when I report that in the light of the last few weeks of unending violence and gloom so little happened tonight that I could almost be cheerful.

Almost.

It’s not easy being a recapper. You don’t get a lot of respect in this business. I mean, you sit down next to some good citizen on a long haul flight, they eventually ask you what you do, and you smile and say, “I spend several hours a week recapping Mexican soap operas. That is MY life.”

Do they smile in return and ask you to tell them more about your fascinating job as a recapper?  Do you ever get a chance to discuss the value of long arc storytelling or whether telenovelas reflect real trends in modern Mexican culture? Do you debate whether the Sopranos or Breaking Bad were telenovelas?

No, baby. You just lost your real first name AND your avatar, my friend. You are self-outed as a hack, a freak, a fan girl-boy, and a weirdo who somehow made it past airport security. You are poison, you are insane, YOU are the frequent business traveler’s bad karma for years of stealing tiny liquor bottles from the First Class lounge. Your neighbor won’t even look you in the eye.

Your seatmate’s face grows slack at first and then tightens as though your breath smells like an unattended cat box. They quickly turn away from you in horror and mumble something about needing a good night’s sleep as they dry swallow two Ambien, and desperately grab for the little cellophane bag in the seatback pocket that holds the courtesy eye mask and earplugs.

No. You won’t get no respect, you won’t get no stinkin’ conversation from that sweaty fellow traveler.

Come to think of it, that is what I have always liked about recapping
.
EJ whistles,

‘Always look on the bright side of life…”

Given that the writers had so little to say tonight, this recapper will not puff out this recap with any more charming stories.

Here, in bullet points, is the recap. Just the facts, folks.

Nadia Self Immolates On The Fire Of Her Husband's Perversion

  • Nadia watches the uncut footage that her husband has of her making love and talking, talking, talking to her lover.
  • Nadia, you and Victor talked too much.
  • Some of the facts let loose by Nadia’s lips:
  • Dimitrio could not recover the suicide note left by Joaquin Arechiga
  •  Maria stole the note from Padre Anselmo.
  • If it is true that the note said that Pedro Medina was Joaquin’s only business partner, then Pedro could go to jail.
  •  That means Nadia could get rid of the bastard Pedro and she and Victor would be together forever.
  • Adolfo tells Maria that Pedro almost killed Maria because of that. This is how Pedro knew that she had evidence against him. Pedro has heard all.
Backstage At La Escondida

  • Ale confronts Maria. She tells him she has to make a living because he abandoned her. She left Adolfo because he did not help her get over Ale.
  • She will always love Ale everyday of her life.
  •  Ale tells her that she can go back to the Hacienda and live there as long as she wants instead of dancing. (What a Guy!)  She declines the offer as Alejandro’s phone rings with a call from Montserrat. He ignores his wife’s call.
  •  Maria tells Ale that she will always wait for him. She tells him that no one can know she is at la Escondida. Alejandro says he will make some excuses to Macario and Victor that explain that he was mistaken about her identity. Alejandro says goodbye.
 Almonte Town House

  • Montserrat keeps calling Victor and Ale and neither of them answers her calls.
  • Nadia needs their help and no one is around. She cannot call the police because Medina controls them and she does not trust EZ Basurto.
  • Montse runs out of the house, alone, to help Nadia.
 Medina Mansion

  • Nadia says goodbye to her brother Adolfo. This may be the last time she sees him for a long time. She wants him to be happy.
  • Adolfo says that that the last few weeks have been the worst of his life. First he lost Josefina. He feels what Nadia might call ‘love’ for Finita. Maria is sexually exciting but…Dimitrio is no longer his friend and now he is losing Nadia.
  •  Adolfo thinks it is too late for him. He loves his sister very much and wants her to be happy.
  • Montserrat arrives at the Medina house and Adolfo gets her past the guards at the door. Adolfo leaves as Montse enters the house.
  • The ladies form a plan to get past the guards. Pedro has sleeping pills! The ladies make coffee laced with a little Ambien and graciously take it out to serve the guards.
Esmeralda’s House

  • Esme and Refu fight about her breaking her promise. He supported her to buy the club and he only asked one thing. She broke their agreement and Refu goes to sleep on the sofa.
Medina House

  • Nadia brings her suitcases down the stairs to a waiting Montserrat. The guards have fallen asleep.
  • Pedro comes into the room, gun drawn, and tells Montserrat that she is not going anywhere with his wife.
  • Montserrat says that Alejandro and Victor are on their way. Pedro menaces and insults Nadia and Montserrat by calling both of the women prostitutes. Montserrat tells Pedro off and says she will not leave without Nadia.
  • Pedro tries to slap Montse but Nadia gets in the way and takes the hit for her friend. Pedro pushes a stumbling Montserrat toward to door. When his back is turned, she conks him on the head with a heavy black statue. Pedro falls to the floor.
  • Dimitrio escorts a drunk Macario back to the Almonte Mansion. Dominga, screaming and angry greets them and hustles Macario of the room.
Medina Mansion

  • Ale and Victor arrive. Pedro is still lying unconscious on the floor. He is not dead, more’s the pity. Montserrat explains that she could not allow Pedro to keep hurting Nadia, so she intervened.
  • Victor escorts the women out. Alejandro calls EZ Basurto to tell him that he hit Medina on the head to defend Montserrat and Nadia from an angry Pedro. He waits for Basurto to arrive.
  • Pedro wakes up and Ale tells him that he coshed him on the head because he was beating Nadia. Pedro thinks that Montse did it, but Ale insists it was he. Ale tells Pedro he will never see Nadia again.
  • Pedro swears he will hunt Nadia and Victor down like dogs. He screams at Alejandro’s back, “See you in court!”
Almonte Mansion

  • Nadia tells Dimitrio, Montse, Rosario, Victor and Fabiola the story of Pedro’s dirty surveillance. Victor says that Pedro is a bastard and Fabiola calls him a pervert. Nadia says that Pedro has been using she and Victor all of this time to hurt Alejandro. Dim comments that this is how Pedro also found out about Alejandro burning the evidence.
  • A surly Fabiola slurs through wine stained teeth, “And you suspected me!” Montserrat tells her to shut up. They fight about Fabi and Sandro conniving with Pedro to prove Alejandro an imposter. Fabi points out that Ale is hiding something. Rosario gets in Fabi’s face and tells her that her son is not a liar. Fabi retorts that perhaps it is Rosario who is the liar.
  • Montserrat demands that Fabi leave the house but Fabs replies that it is not Montse’s house.
Medina Mansion

  • EZ arrives to find Pedro nursing a sore head. He doesn’t know where Nadia will hide but he wants she and Victor dead.
  • Pedro knows that Montserrat is the one who hit him and that Ale is taking the blame. Neither one of them knows the hell they will pay for this.
Almonte Mansion

  • Montserrat and Ale meet in their bedroom. She is very afraid. Victor and Nadia will head out to the ranch tomorrow where they will meet the small airplane that Alejandro purchased.
  • Montse tells Ale that she worries about Pedro’s revenge. She also tells him that Fabi was not to blame for the info leaks—Pedro got his data from the surveillance cameras in the Love Shack.
  • Montse warns that they still cannot trust Fabiola. She is after Ale’s money. They had a big argument tonight. Ale will make Fabiola leave tomorrow.
  • Nadia and Montse discuss Nadia’s pregnancy and have tender words about Huggies diapers. Can you spell product placement?
 Mendoza Mansion
  • Graciela has once again donned the crocheted tablecloth as a scarf and is putting the finishing touches to her toilette when Pedro Medina arrives.
  • Pedro reminds her of the promise she made to him back when Dimitrio was in trouble for the death of Bruno Gamboa. She would do whatever favor Pedro required of her, when he required it.
  • He wants her to help him destroy Alejandro Almonte. If Graciela refuses, Pedro will tear her to pieces.
  • Her presence is required in court and her testimony is very important for Pedro. She was Don Benjamin’s lover for many years. Pedro threatens Gracie again and she agrees to go before the judge.
  • How is Pedro planning on proving that Alejandro is not Don Benjamin’s son? With lab tests, of course, after Benjamin is exhumed and autopsied.
La Escondida

  • Esme comes into Maria’s room. Oh, this is too much! She gestures to a sleepy Adolfo who is resting in a high backed chair. Esme throws Adolfo out and tells Maria not to dance again without her permission.
  • A grandiose Maria thinks that Ale will come back for her and that the La Escondida clients like Maria more than they like Esme. Esme is going to ask EZ to take Maria away from the club so she does not have any problems with Pedro Medina.
Graciela Remembers
  • Pedro is going to have Benjamin’s body exhumed
  • Juventino tells Gracie that he knows everything and she has to keep her part of the deal. He did what he had to do to make his boss die early.
  • Later, Juventino threatens Gracie again, with telling Ale about what the ‘favor’ he did for Gracie regarding Don Ben.
Navy Base
  • There is another dust up at the Navy base where Refugio’s colleagues taunt him about Esme’s dancing last night. The guys in room punch it out, until Lt, Monica comes in and calls them all to attention. She wants the person who started the fight to step forward. No one does.
  • She gives her subordinates the talk about discipline, etc. and pulls Dimitrio and Refu out of the group—presumably because they have messed up hair—to make an example of them.
  • The fellows do one hour of push-ups while Monica drones on with her GI Jane routine.
Graciela Testifies

  • She never saw Rosario until she came with Montserrat back to Aguazul after Ale kicked Montse out of the Hacienda.
  • Rosario must be lying about having been raped by Don Benjamin. He would never have stooped so low as to have sex with a Hacienda worker.
  • The last time she spoke with Don Benjamin was the day he died. She spoke to him for a few minutes and then found out later that he had died.
  • Benjamin did not tell her of his decision to make Alejandro his heir.
  •  Gracie remembers cursing Benjamin that he will die with all the money in the world but with no one who loves him. He was completely alone, no family, no children, and no one to cry for him. She cursed him that he not rest in peace.
  • Graciela tells a different story to the judge. She was so sad when Ben died. The judge asks her about her last convo with Ben. She says that Benjamin was very afraid that someone close to him was causing his illness.
  •
  • They should not be surprised to find poison in Benjamin’s body when they perform an autopsy. He thought he was being poisoned by one of the peons. He did not mention Alejandro’s name but Gracie is convinced that Ale killed Benjamin to get his inheritance.
  • Graciela, you are a lying cow.

Buenos Dias!

I am SO tired of the Pedro show. Now he threatens to kill Nadia and Victor and wreck some terrible revenge on Montserrat and Alejandro.

Good grief!

Elna June

EJ, I love your Dragnet opening, perfect. Because there is a dragnet going on.
Or, the story is just a DRAG now. Whatever the case it is very fitting.

Does Pedro know Maria is alive from that video? If so he will know EZ is keeping another secret from him.
Monse standing up to Pedro amused me greatly, it reminded me of Dorothy when she smacked the Cowardly Lion when he went after Toto.

Loved your snarky comments, they kept me from hurling.
"A surly Fabiola slurs through wine stained teeth..."
"Graciela has once again donned the crocheted tablecloth as a scarf"
"The fellows do one hour of push-ups while Monica drones on with her GI Jane routine".
So they extended the story until August, hmm? There are so many prickly unfinished things, it makes me wonder why.?. This is the point in the story where some karmageddon should be flinging back on people. Instead we have a whole nother set of new anvils on the remaining good people, which aren't many.

Elna June--I have to sub for an early class this morning and only had time to read your prologue, but what a delight it is! Wow, every week you come up with something new. Thanks for starting off my day with a bang (which is what I will try and do for the aerobic students forthwith).

Elna June, I absolutely loved your "recapper" introduction as well as your "just the facts" recap. Thanks for the laughs this morning.

Eventhough the assault on Pedro was self/Nadia defense on Montse's part, will Ale end up in the slammer again? Maybe he can have a cell next to JL.

Ale told Montse that tomorrow he would kick out Fabiola. I cannot wait for that to happen.

Graciela sure gave Pedro all he wanted and more!

Sort of hard to know exactly where Ezequiel stands these days. I

Jarifa

Dearest Elna June,

I got up early this morning to do some work, but I treated myself to your wonderful recap before I started. What a pleasure! I loved your opening prologue, especially:

"Do you ever get a chance to discuss the value of long arc storytelling or whether telenovelas reflect real trends in modern Mexican culture? Do you debate whether the Sopranos or Breaking Bad were telenovelas?"

I think my favorite line of the recap though had to be this heading: "Nadia Self Immolates On The Fire Of Her Husband's Perversion"

So smart and very funny!

Thanks so much. Off to reading student work now!

Cable guy is coming in an hour with a new and improved box (yeah!!), but a quick note to say how much I loved your prelude EJ. (Chuckled about actually like that the plane passenger Doesn't talk to you! I can so identify!)

I found myself barely listening last night. I don't know, but seems like it was pretty much same old thing plot wise and I am just done with Pedo waxing threats and revenge day after day.

Has anyone checked on the Padre back at the hacienda? I mean, he was part of the threat and no one worries about him to check? Just sayin'

Elna June: If you were before me, I would bow in delight at your commanding creativity. I'm no longer surprised by the genius contained in what you write ("Praise does sometimes calm the ego’s insatiable need for fuel"), but continue to be unfailingly immpressed.

As I could not cut and paste the entire recap, I will repeat a few of Emarie's favorites and add my own: "You are self-outed as a hack, a freak, a fan girl-boy, and a weirdo who somehow made it past airport security", "Your seatmate’s face grows slack at first and then tightens as though your breath smells like an unattended cat box", "Nadia Self Immolates On The Fire Of Her Husband's Perversion", "A surly Fabiola slurs through wine stained teeth..." and "while Monica drones on with her GI Jane routine".

Jarifa, Graciela did indeed say what Pedro the puppet master wanted her to. I have a feeling that while no one ignites fear in her, she is savvy enough to know who she should not cross and Pedro certainly is that person. Most would be embarrassed to admit to being Ben's married lover but Graciela handled herself like the queen she imagines herself to be while she spewed her venom to discredit and disgrace Rosario.

Courage often arises when least expected. Monse did not only back down from Pedro, a crazed mad man brandishing a gun, she took a real chance trying to strike him as she could have easily been shot and killed. My respect for Monse is considerably higher this morning.

Daisy, I am hoping someone (anyone?) will realize the good padre is missing ere the end of this tale but it is frustrating it is taking so long.

Does anyone know when Sylvia is returning? She is missed.

Elna June, this was truly divine. Thank you.

I wish all of you a happy and joyous Easter.

Diana

Dear Elna June:

I absolutely loved this recap and your Dragnet theme. This whole recap is a work of genius! Thank you so much.

I too am sick of Peddy getting revenge each and every epi, but so very glad that Monse treated him to Whack-A-Mole. I was hoping he'd have amnesia or be in a coma afterwards, but no such luck! I am glad Nadia is out of there and on her way with Vic.

Poor Ale can't win for losing and finally Monse actually did something instead of crying. I never really thought she would whack Peddy like that.

So Graceless went there, I can't believe it, but then again I can't put anything past her. I too wonder if Ale will be in a cell next to JL where they can reminisce about Monse all day, every day.

I am really liking LT Monica, but she should have made the guy with the bloody face do the push ups right along with Refugio and Dim, cause his face was bloodied and so he was also guilty! The other guys stepped back right quick to make Refugio and Dim look guilty. I completely understand why she is the way she is. She wants the respect she has earned by hard work and brains and guys like them don't seem to get that. It's all about the looks and not about the respect.

I too can't wait for the heave ho for Fablush, she has way overstayed her welcome and her constant spying.

Thanks again Elna June for this very marvelous recap.

Great recap!

So Montse is smart enough to take out the guards, but then needs Alejandro to check Pedro's pulse after in typical novela fashion she assumed she'd killed him.
Also I would have dared Pedro to shoot me seeing as how she had already lied about Victor and Ale being on their way. He can't get out of murdering her.
But I still give her props for showing some character for a change.

Alejandro could say so many things to Maria and his gripe comes down to him thinking she's dancing. Really, Ale? He actually refers to the club as "a place like this" and mentions her dead father. Seriously? Way to make his character even more of an awful macho jerk.

Elna June, this was perfect! Just the fact, ma'am. GREAT!!!

Some of the plots and sub-plots are just getting dumber by the day. The Alejandro/Maria business gets more boring by the day. It's kind of like a cow chewing her cud. Just how many times are they going to masticate and ruminate over this before it's finally over?

Graciela with the wierdo clothes is also boring. Is the woman a smoker or is this is natural voice? I don't know, but this character is getting on my nerves!

With Angelica and Fina out of the picture, the whole thing just seems to have fallen flat on its face. There is just way too much vile Pedro; way too much.

This is not a rhetorical question, but does anyone know why the decision was made to extend the story? Was it doing that well in Mexico?

I wonder what Colunga and Noriega are thinking about this re-make of their much admired TN.

Thank you, Elna June!!

Fatima

Daniela Castro's voice has been that way for many years. She sounded the same in Cañaveral de Pasiones. I did see her in Mi Segunda Madre clips (the original Por Siempre Mi Amor, playing the original Aranza), and her voice was different, but that could well be due to age.

To be fair, this is a remake of Bodas de Odio, not Amor Real.
For me I don't mind from a comparison standpoint ince I didn't care for Amor Real (because I don't enjoy protagonists like Ale and Manuel and because I don't like AN as an actress). I mind this novela because of its poor, ridiculous writing and mostly useless characters.

The extension was due to it being popular in the ratings.

There always seems to be an underlying theme in most telenovas...and though we have touched on lack of parenting with so many of the characters, I'm starting to lean to the idea that for this show, it is the issue of self-assurance and self-respect. It can be having almost no love of self and learning to embrace it as Fina has done & Dim stepping out of the shadow of his mother and I even put Monse here(she's getting better but needs to stop letting Ale micro-manage her), where it needs to be either toned down or opened more to look beyond the self to others (Ale for sure) and where the me, me, me just went off the rails ( Gracie, Pedo, etc). Some like Fabs seem to be in a grey zone right now that makes us wonder which group they will remain in.

Daisynjay

I heard somewhere that Robo was extended to 390 episode ,is this for real or is it just a rumour? I was like QUE???

episodes*

And oww Pedro is like Chaos itself,a mix of Sauron,Hitler,Stalin ,Kim Jong Il,his evil knows no limits,is he Hades? I totally loved it when Nadia destroyed his computer in anger ,and i enjoyed when Dimitrio humiliated his mother, she completely deserved it.and Marias new career makes me laugh,it suits her

Elna June, this was brilliant! That was the best prologue ever.

I am actually wondering whether the turn this story is taking merits a change of style for my entries. As of next week I am doing all the Mondays, so maybe I need to read some James M. Cain in the next week or so.

Said before that Graceless wrote her own Karmageddon in the deathbed scene and I now am wishing her a worse one than that.

Did anyone else notice that Monserrat left the house without her cell phone? That was the first thing I thought of and thought that the writers were going to have something really bad happen to her because of that. Taking out the guards with sleeping pills was smart, but she and Nadia should have been out of there just before the guys arrived.

Too bad she didn't hit him harder. Having Pedro end up in the hospital with people wondering whether he was en route to gender reassignment could have been interesting. However, that would have a short expiration date on it in view of the extension of this series.

To Anon @ 8:43: Alejandro wasn't being a macho jerk when he tried to shame Maria; he was playing on her sense of shame vis a vis her father. He's still under the impression she loved Gaspar, which we all began to doubt when she barely cried over his death.

Elna June, your intro was wonderful. You may not get much respect on a cross country flight, but the Caray2 crowd bows down in awe. I also enjoyed your efficient recounting of the events of the evening.

Props to Montse for gathering her courage and whacking Pedro. I picture Sendel standing in front of a mirror, practicing his bug-eyed menacing look. Graci has made me consider using my lace tablecloth as a wrap instead of on the dinner table.

Extending this TN is dragging it out to unwatchable territory.

My point it's that it's the sign of a sexist man that he feels the need to shame her for dancing. They all go to support Esmeralda and for fun, oh but god forbid a woman that they think should be more respectable dance there.

No evidence yet that Alejandro isn't free of sexism, but I see him as making a last-ditch effort here. It hasn't worked and he has to realize that.

Maria's plan to allow him to lose the inheritance is so sick she's lost sight of the risk to her own life. Alejandro has no idea that Pedro tried to have her murdered, so he can't help her at all. Not that he should in view of her theft of Joaquin's suicide note.

Wow, Elna June, what a clever intro. Recapping can indeed be a lonely often misunderstood endeavor, until the recap is unveiled for us Carayers and then it becomes a worthwhile act of love which brings such happiness, stimulating discussion, and an appreciation which approaches adoration. Thanks for sharing yourself with us each week.

I'm not quite sure what to make of Lt. Monica, but from what I've seen so far I'm not terribly impressed. Are we supposed to be awed by her? She certainly got off to a shaky start with me with her introduction to Refugio the day before. The taunting "Do you think I'm pretty?" and "I got where I am because I'm smart." didn't quite make her come across as a competent military leader. As for pretty, the uniform pretty well undid that for me... but let's see how she fills out one of those navy tee shirts.

I felt genuine sympathy for poor Nadia when she realized that she and Victor were the loose lips.

Carlos

Carlos:

I get why LT Monica doesn't impress you, but speaking from the female point of view, having been in the military, she is ALL That and a bag of chips! She tells it like it is, and doesn't take guff from those guys. There is still sexism even in today's military. She is wanting to tamp that down. Also her line the other day, "Do you think I'm beautiful"? Wasn't about flaunting what she has, it was about are you going to cross the line budroe, cause if you do, sucks to be you.

So did I, Carlos. Especially when she thinks about Pedro watching them do what he can't do.

I was impressed with Monica in uniform. She's showing that she's not taking any crap from these jokers. However, she will need to know eventually who the troublemakers really are.

Well, I'm baaaaack...and now have time to enjoy the whole recap. My favorite line, in addition to all those previously mentioned was:

Nadia and Montse discuss Nadia’s pregnancy and have tender words about Huggies diapers. Can you spell product placement?

Not likely to buy any Huggies (or Depends!!!) but have to admit the endless glasses of orange juice they drink is beginning to make me crave the stuff.

Agree with la Paloma that the extension is making this well-nigh unwatchable, but the recaps continue to be top-notch. You all knock it out of the part every time. Thanks so much for a delightful read.

Oh Mads, thanks as always for your insight into the military world. Other than once dating an Air Force captain, who was macho to the max, I know very little about it. But sounds like nothing has changed since the 60's.

What is that red stuff that everyone's always drinking at breakfast?

Maybe it's pomegranate juice, UA. That's all the rage now among the health-conscious.

Good day my friends:

I am in a meeting. Sorry I cannot break away and comment right now but thanks to all for dropping by.

I will check in later.

Warm Regards,

Elna June

Elna June – It’s wonderful knowing no matter what they crank out on the screen that the recap will be a joy to read. Loved the prologue. My favorite lol:

Your seatmate’s face grows slack at first and then tightens as though your breath smells like an unattended cat box.

So now Pedro just wants to off Nadia and her bun in the oven too? Then how is he going to be the family man he needs to be for higher office? I guess payback to Ale is all he wants now.

Kudos to Monse for clunking Pedro on the head. But she and Nadia need to learn how to "move it!" They hung around so long after Pedro was unconscious that I was expecting him to wake up and aim his gun at them again. It would've been fun to see them kick off their tacones and haul a$$.

If I'm remembering correctly, Fab did blab about JL helping to burn the money. I was surprised that the not-yet-Scoobies would even let her in their meeting.

Pedro could get a huge sympathy factor for being a widower. Not that this wouldn't create other problems he hasn't thought of.

But there's nothing rational about his thinking. He's just getting off on his own sadism at this point.

EZ's facial expressions were interesting. Still wondering how his mind works.

UA,

"Still wondering how his mind works."

Me too. After that resolved showdown in Pedro's study one could possibly conclude that Zeke has totally cast his lot with Pedro... except for the fact that he withheld the truth that María (and quite likely Padre Anselmo) is still alive.

I thought it was rather amusing that when Zeke asked Pedro had any idea where his wife might have gone Pedro answered that he didn't know where Vic has hidden her and yet haven't they all gone to Alejandro's beach house? How long would it have taken to check there?

This show may be floundering a bit but I'm still finding it to be interesting. As much as I came to care for Angelica, I was getting weary from watching her die... and her death certainly came as no surprise to anyone... Padre Anselmo is quite another matter.

Carlos

Elna June,
Once again you have outdone yourself with your awesome and creative writing talents. Always know that you, along with all the caray recappers, are welcome to sit next to me on our flight to Campeche, or wherever our TN takes us.

No time to comment in detail but I do have to give props to Montse for knocking out Peddy. You go girl! BM needs to go. Does she really think that a wig and a bad pole dance will entice Ale to leave Montse? I had forgotten how much I loath her. And what's with BM showing her tongue behind her teeth. She does this thing where she pushes her tongue against her front teeth when she's trying to be sexy. It just looks weird. Anyone else notice that?
I am really fed up with Pedro and Gracie. Nice tablecloth!

Back to work...hasta pronto!

ITA, Niecie, I would so have loved to see them haul "a$$" but no they just hung out there while my BP went up to 200/150 and I threw stuff at my TV yelling "stupidos!"'
Sigh.
EJ and the other recappers, as long as y'all are recap ping I'll hang in.

Demetrios: I believe someone commented on this site awhile ago that the eps are half an hour in MX. Which means we're looking at 195 eps.

Anyone know what's replacing Por Siempre?

Nanette

Elna June, although a bit late, your prologue was captivating! You have quite a talent there :-)

Hoping Pedro starts losing control of everyone soon, and has his plans going down the drain. I'm tired of watching him making everyone's life so horrible. Montse should have hit him a bit harder last night!

Glad they were able to get Nadia out and hopefully she and Vic can stay out of Pedro's reach.

Maricruz

Dear Elna June:

I am just catching up with Thursday's episode and have just had the pleasure of reading your recap. I adored your prologue. Now I know that besides being a sure-fire way of discouraging unwanted attention at social events, telling one's seat mate about being a telenovela recapper is likely to guarantee peaceful silence during a airplane flight. Yes!

I did enjoy seeing Montserrat take careful aim at Pedro's head and then strike forcefully.

I also liked seeing that, for all his moral weakness, Adolfo's affection for his sister is real.

I guess there is no question that Alejandro will have to lose everything and then rise from the ashes in the course of Robo II. The thought of that would be SO VERY DREARY if it were not for recaps like yours to amuse and delight us on the way.

Thank you, Elna June. I think I speak for all of us hacks, freaks, fan-girls and -boys, and weirdos when I say you have done us proud.

EJ- So sorry for being so late to comment. Busy day, and I'm off to NYC in the morning. But I want to ditto all the praise for your opening and just the facts recap.

Monse and Nadia drove me crazy too, with all their dithering and wearing of high heels when plotting and executing an escape from a lunatic. But well done Monse, for knocking Pedro out!

Urban- The red drink is very likely agua de Jamaica (hibiscus/called sorrel in Jamaica).

Nothing to add except I love, love LOVE the beginning of this recap. Finding very little to smile about in this novela especially of late, but your recap made me laugh out loud! Especially since I was just on a red-eye next to a lovely man of Cuban descent and when I told him how I watched novelas to practice my Espanol, he told me his wife is a TN actress! Sadly no one I've seen yet, but it made me giggle even more at the intro to your recap.
Thanks!
Becky

I seen on Latino Post that Robo supposedly has been extended to 390 episodes.. How trustworthy is this website? And the article contains spoilers so i wont post it here. Also you can find on Televisa.com that other people have been saying this as well,it is supposed to last until the end of World Football Championship Brazil 2014

Whoa, looks like this blog is a week late. I stumbled on this sappy soap last winter while recovering from surgery and saw the most delicious eye candy of Alejando Almonte, hmm what a good way for me to improve my college Spanish and drool at this beautiful God, Sebastian Rulli.

I do not want to be a plot spoiler here but I missed an episode on my DVR and was stunned at the calamity of one of the major starts of the show followed by Friday April 25th episode that fast forward. Say it "ain't so" about .... and there must be some typical major soap miracle of the "Lord of the manor" that will happen.

Oh yes, my Spanish has improved and I watch my DVR recordings with my Spanish dictionary in hand and repeat certain scenes I did not hear clearly. LOL, only wics Pedro Medina would enunciate his words, he speaks like a Saturday Night Live spoof of foreign tv where the mouth moves but his intonation is always the same, this is bad television at it's best!

I understand SS just fine,i only had problems in the first episodes of Robo but i got used to it in a while. Its not even hard for me to understand Spanish,i am suprised because i took absolutely no classes of Spanish.Maybe watching the Telenovelas improved my Spanish to massive levels..
