Lo Que La Vida Me Robo 162 - 26 June 2014 - Maria's Luck Goes South

Well, I took a look-see into the happenings in Aguazul tonight and I haven’t got much to report. Everyday in Aguazul starts with a beautiful sunrise and a sad song; that much is clear and consistent. But not much else changes in this hot and steamy town from week to week.

As you saw last night, Mama Graciela dropped in on Maria at her new place. You can tell Maria has decorated the crib because there is a large painted object on the wall. In case you were wondering about the function of this object, it is clearly identified, in English, as ‘ART’. At least something in Bluewater is, um, as it seems. Art by the yard is still art by the yard.

Gracie comes into Maria’s wearing an outfit that could have come straight from Bed Bath and Beyond. She sports a turquoise blue-fringed tablecloth over a white lace fitted top and a floor length striped maxi skirt. Actually, I take it back—the lace on her undershirt looks hand made. I suspect some nice abuela in Aguazul is missing her fancy Navidad white lace linens.

Graciela waltzes in and insults Maria as she spots a set of KEYS. Graciela refers to Maria as ‘Gatita’ and also calls her a prostitute. Gracie then comes to the point—Why did Maria want to see her. Maria assures Gracie that she wants to join with her in keeping Montse and Ale apart.  Gracie tells Maria that she knows that Maria is the reason her current son-in-law Jose Luis just discovered her former son-in-law Alejandro in flagrante with Montserrat.

They insult one another, with Maria saying that Montserrat is just like her mother. Whatever. Graciela tells Maria that nothing will separate Ale and Montse. He is her only love. Maria accuses Gracie of lying about this. Montse doesn’t love Ale. The two women rehearse Montse and Ale and Jose Luis’ history, again. Montse didn’t REALLY love J; it was an illusion. Maria insists that she has only ever loved Ale, while Montse is torn between two lovers.

Montserrat gives Poor Blind Nadia the scoop on Ale’s reaction to her pregnancy. At first it was bad, but Ale came around. He will love this child as his own. Nadia is thrilled and gives Montse the best girlfriend pep talk. Montse and Ale will be together despite all that is against them. Gracie advises Maria to change her strategy because ale and Montse WILL be together. Maria swears that it shall not be so. Gracie tells Maria to pop by her Chapel, tomorrow around 11:00 AM—she will then hear Mari’s propositions. She palms the KEY and puts it in her bag as she exits left.

Pedro comes in, interrupting Montse and Nadia’s little chat. “Victoria!” He bellows for the child and demands that Nadia obey him when he gives orders. He insults Montse on the way out the door.

Jose Luis comes in and Montse wants to know just what he had to discuss with that ‘patan’.  Says they were discussing the killing of Alejandro.

Back at Josefina’s

Rosario and Laurito take their leave of Alejandro. Lauro declares his Dad a mathematical genius as he has been helping him with his homework. Rosario says it is late and they must leave. Ale tells Lauro to give his Mom love and that they are a family and his place is by their side. Way to confuse and mess up your kid, Alejandro.

By the by, I can barely stand to look at that child with his Jetson’s hairdo. From the back you can see that the kid’s hair is dyed. Why Why? Why?

Dim and Monica

Dim prepares Monica a beautiful meal. She goes to slip into something more comfortable and he pops the champagne. He then takes the glasses of bubbly into meet Monica as she undresses. They kiss as they undress.

Time Passes

Nadia and Victor

Nadia calls Victor while Pedro is out shopping. They love each other, etc., etc. Nadia reports that Montse came to see her and told her all that happened. She is convinced that Ale and Monte will be together, forever, happy, happy, and happy.

Montserrat and Her Brother

Montse and Dim meet for coffee at her sweet shoppe. She thanks her brother for coming to her rescue the other night. Montse tells her brother that Jose Luis thinks that he is the only victim in the situation. Dim tells Montse that she should tell him if JL even touches her.

Montse asks how Dim and Monica are doing. She tells Dim that she saw Monica when she visited Esme in the hospital. She heard that Refu and Monica almost did the deed. But Dim interrupts his sister to assure her that ‘Nothing happened’.

Ed. I might disagree with that assessment, Dimitrio. Monica and Refu did not have sex, but something most definitely happened.

Dimmy gives Montse the news that despite all that happened with Josefina, he asked Monica to marry him and she accepted. Montse hugs him and offers her congratulations.
Town Hall, Aguazul

Pedro Medina is yelling at his associates, EZ and Fofoto. Waaaah! Alejandro is not in a coma. Pedro wants the real Will, from Adolfo, now. Adolfo reminds Pedro that the document is all that is keeping him alive. Pedro tells Adolfo that if that document falls into the wrong hands, what happened to Maria could happen to Josefina Valverde.

Adolfo’s face hardens. He tells Pedro that the day Pedro dares to touch Josefina, he will go to the Navy and “out” his identity as the Scorpion. Adolfo and Pedro tussle and EZ warns them to calm down. Adolfo is on a roll. He yells at Pedro, that HE, Adolfo, has been the guy doing all the dirty work, moving the drugs. Adolfo trusts his guys to do the deals but not EZ’s. EZ says, fine. Adolfo, all the responsibility for this deal is yours.

There is no honor among these thieves.

Josefina and Dimitrio

Dim goes to Josefina’s to see Ale. Josefina looks stunningly beautiful. They are pleasant to one another and Dim tells her that he told Monica the truth and all is now well between them. They are getting married. Josefina congratulates Dimitrio and leaves to go get Alejandro. Dimitrio makes a wry face as Fina leaves the room. I cannot tell what he is thinking.

EZ Meets With Monica

She tells him she was not expecting his call, after what happened last time. He tells her that more merchandize is being moved. She wants to know the identity of El Alacran. EZ tells her that her questions are always the same, as are his answers. He does not think he will risk any more at this time.

She supposes that a shipment is coming through and EZ tells her she is correct. *He wants to ask her something. Does anyone know that he has been in contact with her? She says that no one does. Ever. She promised him that she would not reveal his identity.

*EZ is sliding his words together here. He says something about\ “seizing the tonnage” but I cannot make out the first part of the sentence.

EZ tells Monica that the goods are set to arrive today. He has the info about where El Alacran is receiving the goods, himself, in person.

Monica says she is listening, but EZ says, “Not so fast”. He wants immunity for this information. He wants out of the organization and he requires complete immunity in exchange for his info. He wants to make up for his errors and to save his life and his career.

Monica tells EZ that she does not have the power to give him that kind of a deal. Only Admiral Robledo could do that.

The Purple Panther

Graciela lets herself into Maria’s flat with the stolen keys. She is dressed in the classic pink and purple flowing gown and garments (NOT!) of a master thief. She has an enormous pink patent leather tote to hide any loot she may discover. Way to hide in plain sight, Graciela. Never let it be said that Graciela Mendoza abandoned (her idea of) fashion for function! She begins searching Maria’s apartment.

We know what she is looking for!

Dimitrio and Ale

Alejandro catches Dim up on the latest events. Thanks to Graciela, Dim’s mama, Alejandro’s case has been reopened. She admitted to lying about Ale poisoning Don Benjamin, and told the judge that Sandro forged the DNA test that put Alejandro’s paternity in doubt. Of course Ale had to promise her 100% of his regained fortune to enlist Gracie’s help…

Meanwhile, back at the Sweet Shoppe, Montse, Dominga and Macario discuss her situation. JL has put a policeman on duty to watch Montse 24 hours a day. Of course, Dominga and Macario think that Jose Luis should just let her go already and Macario continues with a new homily about mares.

Gracie The Spy

Gracie rifles through Maria’s drawers until she locates the WILL. She also finds the blond wig, sunglasses and the gun. “So this is why Fabiola thinks Montserrat killed Sandro!” she says out loud. She takes all the evidence and stuffs it in the big pink bag where no one will see it.

Mendoza-Basurto Chapel

Doña Carlota finds Maria in the Chapel waiting for Gracie. She runs her off but not before insulting Maria as riff-raff and a (gasp!) drug user. She threatens to call the police.

Maria taunts Carlota that her husband is not so pure…and as she leaves, she calls Carlota a fool. Carlota looks puzzled by this comment.

Back At Marias

Alejandro follows Maria into her apartment and they get into it. She tries calling him ‘mi amor’ but he is not having it. Maria, he says doesn’t know the meaning of the word. She rehashes their history, again, she has loved him since they were children, she tried to kill herself twice because of him, etc. He tells her that she is sick. She agrees. She is sick with love. She did drugs because she could not support the idea of a life without Alejandro. She could kill for Alejandro! It is his fault that she became a prostitute and was in the abyss. She rails against Montserrat, whom she says always loved another man (Jose Luis) more that she did Ale. Maria begins to cry. “Te amo!” she cries to Ale.

It is pretty clear to me that Maria believes what she is saying here. How sad. He asks her if she has any thing else to say. When she says nothing, he brings in the judge and the police who have been eavesdropping on the whole conversation. Maria Zamudio is going to jail.

Admiral Robledo

EZ Basurto meets with Admiral Robledo and asks for the same deal he requested from Monica. Complete immunity. He keeps his name and career. Robledo wants to hear more before but he agrees to the deal. “Now, he asks Ezekiel, when and when is this cargo going to be delivered?”

Maria and Alejandro

Maria protests to Ale. But the judge tells her that he wants to know about the original testament of Don Benjamin Almonte. Also, was Maria an accomplice with her Uncle Juventino in killing Don Benjamin? Maria protests that her Uncle Juventino killed her father. She does not have the will with her right now, she lies. Finally, she goes to her room to look for the will and to try to hide the gun she used to kill Sandro.
But both the will and the gun are gone. Ale allows the police to take Maria into custody.

Back at Graciela’s, she reads the will, takes the wig and gun out of the commodious pink tote and places them in a trash bag.

Friends on the Patio:

I thought that Daniela Castro was at her comedic best tonight. She played Graciela somewhere between a Mission Impossible or Pink Panther type thief but she was also channeling that wonderful FOOL, Inspector Clouseau at the same time. What a hoot. She made me LOL.

Is EZ Basurto going to sneak out of this this TN intact? Did Carlota get a clue from Maria? Was EZ being more than a little sleazy with Capitan Monica? Is EZ setting up BOTH Adolfo and Pedro? Stay tuned for more developments on that front.

Who the hell is Jose Luis Alvarez supposed to be these days? The writers have him lurching from one personality to another, it seems, from show to show. Yikes!

More later,

Elna June

Awesome recap Elna June! Thank you. I loved your asides and description of "Gracie the spy". The scene with her and Maria was hilarious, I loved the head poke Gracie gave Maria with the "perdonate". She also told Maria that she didn't care she had sold her daughter for a fortune while Maria wasn't worth cents, something like that, sorry that's not a very good translation, I loved that scene!

You did a great job capturing the important things that happened in this episode Elna June, I felt like a lot of it was filler, with Dim and Monica making up... Blah and Victor and Nadia... My soul is with you... Blah. Thank you for making this episode more tolerable.

I can't figure out what Gracie plans to do with the evidence against BM and the will. The previews for tomorrow looked really exciting, can't wait!

Elna June,

Excellent recap. Witty and informative. A pleasure to read. Thanks for all of your hard work. It is always appreciated.

Great scene between Gracie and BM. I can't keep thinking that they are mother and daughter. They almost had the same look in their faces during that scene. I see BM and Gracie more alike than Fabby and Gracie. Just a thought. I don't know whether to be happy that BM no longer has the Will. I hated the fact that BM had it, but is in in better hands with Gracie? Is she going to do the right thing and hand it over, or will she double cross Ale?

YES! Sorry Carlos, but it was awesome watching BM getting arrested. Problem is that now she will be even more angry and vengeful if she is able to get out of jail. It will be interesting to see if Addie helps her out.

I'm not sure what to think of the avances. Was that a dream sequence? They usually don't give away too much, but I saw something major happen. More to say, but I'm falling asleep.

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

"Ed. I might disagree with that assessment, Dimitrio. Monica and Refu did not have sex, but something most definitely happened."

Wow. What a great statement. Subtle humor. Deep truth.

Yes, "something definitely happened" that is having profoundly painful repercussions. It even set up a spirited dialogue and difference of opinion here on the patio.

And I'm with you on the horror of how the production folks have messed with this little kid. Blondined hair, Conehead/Jetson gel coiffure. I think he could be cute if they'd just leave the hair alone. But oh my!...

Haven't seen this yet but looking forward to Macario and his new "homily about mares". He cracks me up. So do you, wicked lady.

A delightful, wise, and witty recap. The actual episode will pale in comparison I know, but I'm looking forward to seeing it. Thanks Elna June.

Elna June, While "Art by the yard is still art by the yard" is so very true, your beautiful writing is a masterpiece.

"Jetson’s hairdo" and "played Graciela somewhere between a Mission Impossible or Pink Panther type thief but she was also channeling that wonderful FOOL, Inspector Clouseau at the same time" were a few of my many favorite quotes and comments.

There were several pivotal events last evening. The first was the large fissures in the unholy alliance of Pedro, EZ and Adolfo. Adolfo is right - the will is the only reason he still walks the earth. His safety depends on how and when Graciela intends to reveal her newly pilfered goods. And Lily, I have no idea what her plans are either!

It appears EZ has been an informant as many here have suspected. After the look on Carlota's face, EZ may make a deal to avoid incarceration but his wife's wrath if she learns the truth will be unabated.

Fina never looked lovlier. As she graciously congratulated Dimitrio, her peaceful, serene smile was never more heartfelt. As she gracefully exited, the voluminous fabric she wore like a queen enveloped her as she floated down the hall. Was her heart breaking? It must as I know mine was.

"Dimitrio makes a wry face as Fina leaves the room. I cannot tell what he is thinking". Elna June, this scene keeps playing over and over in my mind. I kept wondering what emotion had been scripted? Was it a trace of regret, longing? Was it an iota of surprise Fina accepted the news without showing sadness? Like you, I thought his reaction was inscrutable.

I am not sure that all of us see the same previews. What I thought I saw was shocking and I am not entirely saw I grasped it correctly. If so, it appears that there is a major shooting. Someone who is more confident than I may wish to explain further.

Elna June, I loved the title also. I fear I had no sympathy for Maria, but as our Carlos says, I am sure opinions will vary.

Thank you so much!

Diana

Hope your settling in nicely EJ. This recap was amazing. Had me parking the coffee with some of your great quips.

"Gracie comes into Maria’s wearing an outfit that could have come straight from Bed Bath and Beyond." Daniela was a treasure last night. She really relishes playing this type character with just enough over the top to give you a hoot while you're watching. Not loving that she parked some of the evidence and still wondering what her end game is, but had to enjoy her giving it to Maria.

Speaking of whom. Poor delusional Maria. I would feel sorry for her if she wasn't so dangerous. I'm sure she'll be free another day to wreak havoc, there really isn't enough on her to hold her there.

So anyone else think they made Monica look especially unattractive last night? She's looked rocking in her navies before, but last night looked strained and more severe than usual. And this is me, but anyone else see an anvil heading down on her over this upcoming "delivery"? No spoiler but my warm and fuzzies are definitely not feeling it for her looking at that preview.

Which leaves Dim again. Bless him, he's so messed up I think. That look at Fina's: that looked to me like disappointment that Fina seemed fine in his marriage announcement. Still believe he loves her more than Monica but thinks there is no chance.

SOOOO tired of the required Nadia/Victor mi amor phones calls. Enough already with those and the weird Pedro habits with her---that shaky hand taking her away was just creepy.

Interesting that as the Chief of {Police JL is being left out of everything. What does this man do besides sit behind the desk? Oh yeah, harass his wife and go after Ale. Full time job.

Daisynjay

Elna June, thanks for the fantastic recap! You were so right in your description of Graciela's little venture at Marías apartment. It was Graciela at her crazy best!

Best scene: BM going to find the gun when the police are waiting and discovering it is gone with the will, etc. was she planning on going out in a "blaze of glory"? Or what?

Pedro is sure getting jumpy as we saw in that scene with Ezequiel and Adolfo. Looks like we are entering a time where there will be plenty of crosses and double crosses.

From the avances, Mónica will find out who "El Escorpión" is but I will not ruin the rest of the scene for those of you who did not see the preview.

It is going to be a good one tonight!

Jarifa

Aunty Ann, I do not think that was a dream sequence.

Jarifa

Great work, Elna June. One thing missing, though, which was the scene between Mad Dog Alvarez and Refugio. MDA said he will not abuse his power in the matter of Alejandro; he has no intention of killing him. Refugio brings up the suspicion that Maria was the one who shot Monserrat. I knew I didn't imagine that back when it happened.

Of course, with Maria in police custody she could talk about Gracie having been the mastermind behind the poisoning of Benjamin. As to Gracie taking the dress, wig, and gun, I can't imagine what she plans to do with them. Maybe show them to Fabiola to demonstrate that it wasn't Monserrat who shot Sandho?

It was the same dentire disguise that Maria wore to visit MDA in prison prior to the escape attempt.

If she tries to tell Alejandro she negotiated the will out of Maria he will know she is lying. You'd think she'd want Maria in prison.

On another front, Pedro's abuse of Nadia escalates. He never would have gotten away with any of it if she hadn't been blinded in the plane crash.

Now that I've seen this, I have to admit that the scene with Dimetrio and Monica was all kinds of cute. And I don't even want that romance to happen! But when the camera moved to him, with his uniform and tipping his hat at a jaunty angle...oh my, move over Cary Grant, our spindly little Unibrow has just taken your place as a romantic idol.

On the other hand, Poor Blind Nadia and Victor continue to be All Kinds of Boring. Strictly filler material as far as I'm concerned.

Now find myself hoping that EZ will die a (seemingly) noble death, and that Robledo will hide the nasty truth from Carlota. She can sweetly mourn EZ and we can all hope that one day she and Robledo will console each other.

Color me hopelessly romantic and overprotective. I don't want our Carlota to have all her illusions destroyed. But...if it happens..our zaftig lady does seem pretty resilient.

And Graciela's outfits continue to delight. How much fun are she and the Wardrobe folks having! Terrific overstatement in every scene.

JudyB, I just love how you call Carlota "zaftig".

Jarifa

Great recap! I too loved "Gracie comes into Maria’s wearing an outfit that could have come straight from Bed Bath and Beyond" and also the caption "the purple panther." Too funny.

I am not looking forward to tonight based on that avance!

Here's a question: to those who have been watching TN's longer than I, can we expect PBN to get her sight back before the end? I keep thinking that she wouldn't have had lana in Buenos Aires but surely someone now could take her to a doc? Obviously her psycho "husband" wouldn't, but once he is out of the way?

Also, what's EZ's beef with Adolfo? Simply that he knows too much? Poor Adolfo. He really seems to be one sad messed up little boy in the body of a man.

Later!
Rebecca

Rebecca, we can't predict whether Nadia will get her sight back. During LQNPA we kept debating whether Rogelio would get out of the wheelchair and the end result wasn't what many of us expected. If this series were made 15 years ago I'd say Nadia would regain her sight, but I'm not so sure now.

As for your question about Adolfo, I'd say EZ sees him as a screw-up. EZ is also a selfish bastard who is looking to preserve his own assets and position, so Adolfo is a liability to him. Pedro is looking to hang somebody and EZ is trying to get out of his path even if it means throwing someone else to the hyenas.

"Zaftig" is a great word, isn't it Jarifa. NovelaMaven likes it too. And Carlota is so basically lovable. I wouldn't want her to lose a single pound.

Elna June:

What a lovely, light and breezy recap this is! Thanks so very much.

Graceless was a riot this epi. Who knew she had these skillz, breaking, well not that, but entering, and taking evidence, did you see the way she handled the gun? And that outfit. I was waiting for her to trip over her skirt. I wonder if she threw away the gun, wig and dress? She's probably saving it as some type of insurance.

Isn't it ironic that Maria was wearing a black and white striped top, sort of like an old timey jail uniform? The look she had when she came back and hadn't found the will. She was truly shocked it wasn't there. I wonder if she'll figure out who took it?

Every time Poor Blind Nadia is on the phone, I'm expecting Peddy to pop up and snatch it from her.

So EZ is a snitch! That guy that Addled shot up North really wasn't a snitch. EZ was being sleazy with Monica trying to stroke her hand. She snatched it away right quick. EZ must think he has amazing flirting powers or something. So the Admiral is willing to do a deal with him, hmmmm.......

I don't know what these writers are doing to JL. I still think he isn't going to kill Ale, he just wants Monse to believe he will. He's creating the Sword of Damocles over her head. He was really normal with Refug. JL is being a hard nosed jerk, just as Ale was back in the day toward Monse.

The look on Dimi's face after Fina left, to me was like, wow she took that well, about Dimi marrying Monica. He wasn't expecting that. I think maybe he was expecting tears or something, instead of the smile and congrats he got from Fina.

I think EZ is throwing both Peddy and Addled under the bus. Maybe EZ thinks he's gotten enough money out of the deal and to save himself is willing to make this deal. I too wonder if he will make it to the end of this TN.

Thanks again Elna June for this most fabulous recap. You rock!

Elna June, you had me laughing so much at the description of Gracie the Spy, and her wacky attire. Like everyone else, I loved:

"Gracie comes into Maria’s wearing an outfit that could have come straight from Bed Bath and Beyond."

"the lace on her undershirt looks hand made. I suspect some nice abuela in Aguazul is missing her fancy Navidad white lace linens."

Thanks for helping me to start my morning with a smile! By far, that scene with Gracie and Maria was the best last night.

I also agree with Diana's observation of Fina. She looked beautiful and Diana, the words you used to described her were beautiful as well:

"Fina never looked lovlier. As she graciously congratulated Dimitrio, her peaceful, serene smile was never more heartfelt. As she gracefully exited, the voluminous fabric she wore like a queen enveloped her as she floated down the hall. Was her heart breaking? It must as I know mine was".

I have to give it to Fina, she loves Dim with all her heart, yet manages to maintain her calm and congratulate him. I do think that she left abruptly to get Ale, as if she couldn't go on pretending to be happy, when inside her heart was breaking. She probably didn't want to let him see her cry again. Yet, I couldn't read Dim's face.

And as for the previews, if that is not a dream, I don't see redemption in Adolfo's future, just more heart break for him, his family and Fina.

Maricruz

elna june, yet another marvelously enjoyable read from you! To think that you are doing this for us in the midst of major changes in your life is so incredibly kind and generous of you. Please know how much we appreciate your writing. :))

Someone please set me straight on this as I do not want to insert foot in mouth: a) does everyone really see different avances? b)is discussing a preview, is it considered a "spoiler" no matter what? Thank you in advance.

I noted that EZ tried to make a move for Rigid Monica's hand while he was discussing the immunity deal? Am I correct? In fact, I could swear that he touched her hand and she abruptly pulled it back. I don't know, but there was something "fishy" about that scene. I wasn't trusting either of them.

EZ and Monica were referring to an event in the past? What was that event? Did something go down that involved both of them?

When Peddy and familia left Montse's place, Montse asked JL what he had discussed with the patan Pedro. JL replied, as elna june noted, that they were discussing the possibility of taking down Alejandro. Montse asked JL what he said. His reply to her was threatening and abusive and it was the threat that he would kill Alejandro, her, and himself.

Tell me, did I hear that correctly in that he did NOT tell Montserrat what he had really told Pedro (that he wouldn't involve himself in such a deal)? I did not have the CCs on last night, but this is what it sounded like to me.

I was just grateful for not having to see JL so much on the screen last night.

Anywho, if someone could make clear for me the rules for discussing avances, I would appreciate it greatly.

elna june, I loved the Jetson hairdo comment re Laurito! My sentiments exactly!!

Fatima

Good morning, all.

Elna June..thanks for your excellent retelling. I hope that you are settling into your new nest and that the boxes are slowly but surely being unpacked.

So..Maria has art by the yard , and Gracie seems to buy lace by the yard. I , too, noticed that she seems to have reverted to her old standby..the folded tablecloth thrown over her front. I can relate. I recently reverted to my high school hairdo. I saw this quote in the newspaper yesterday , and Gracie popped into my mind : " All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy".Spike Milligan.

At this point, I would not want any of these dudes. Uff. It looks as though EZ might be dragged under the bus as he is throwing Fofo there. Adios.

Pedro's treatment of PBN makes me cringe. He is sooo annoying. I have had enough of Sergio's over-the-top portrayal of this damaged (figuratively and literally) guy.

Well, Hub is playing in a golf tournament all day, and I M trying to get done chores done . Later, gators.

Madelaine, I see we were posting at the same time. Thank you for confirming that I did, indeed, see EZ make a move for Rigid Monica's hand. OY. Such a guy.

Fatima

Diana, I thought your observations re Fina (during the Dim/Fina convo) were just beautiful. Your description of her was simply perfect.

Fatima

Diana should be writing recaps, shouldn't she? Too bad she has such a demanding day job.

Fatima, if the advances are shown on TV that night, it's okay to discuss them. A lot of times they're red herrings anyway.

Toward the end,"ultimas semanas" when things really get crazy, they don't show the advances anymore.

Fatima:

As far as avances go, they are misleading a lot of the time. They will show you something that could happen, and sometimes they don't happen. Speaking from my point of view, when I do a recap, I am vague about what the avances are so as not to spoil the next recapper's recap so to speak. In other words, if the scene hasn't happened yet, it could be a huge red herring or it could happen in say the next two or three epis. Uni is famous for doing this with avances.

Thanks, Madeleine and JudyB!

Fatima

Thank you Fatima and Judy.

Your kind words have buoyed my spirits today.

Diana

Great recap, Elna June, and as always, you've adorned the rich narrative with many vivid colorful descriptions such as my own personal favorite:

"She is dressed in the classic pink and purple flowing gown and garments (NOT!) of a master thief."

Beautiful.

So María is apprehended with absolutely no evidence or even charges of a crime? She asks the judge:

"What am I being accused of?"

and he replies:

"Nothing yet, Señorita..."

and they're taking her to jail? Who thinks this is right?... and please, no lectures about the crimes we know she has committed... right now they have no basis for her arrest. And what a rat Alejandro is being...

This all happened because Alejandro is annoyed and an admitted perjuress accused her of a crime which she previously accused Alejandro of, and which, by the way, she herself is guilty of. This judge is a corrupt incompetent boob.

I do agree that Gabriela and María together was the scene of the evening. I smiled as they matched damning truths and insults.

I was not puzzled by Dimitrio's expression. I think that he and Josefina are experiencing the very same hurt that neither is willing to admit.

Carlos

I don't think the previews are a red herring and I'm annoyed about them. I specifically didn't want the Dim and Fina romance to be brought about this way.

EJ- Like others, I was dazzled by your keen ability to paint a scene with words. Without seeing this episode, I can perfectly visualize Gracie and her outfit.

I am curious to see the "look" that was on Dim's face that everyone has a different take on.

Carlos- Like you, I was wondering on what charges/evidence the police are detaining Maria. Didn't seem like any, other than being crazy and obsessed with Ale.

Carlos:

That is a very good point you made about Maria being arrested on Graceless' word. But I have to give kudos to DA Judge cause this time he is investigating all avenues. There is no proof of what Graceless said about Maria and it makes one wonder if this will be a she said/she said dilemma so to speak. The only thing that WILL hurt Maria, if someone steps forward, like Addled say, anonymously of course to say Maria shot Monse. No one but Addled knows that. Not even Graceless knows that. And isn't curious that Graceless took ALL OF THE EVIDENCE. No one also knows that Maria shot and killed Sandho. They just think he went back to Miami. Curious, hmmmm.....

Dear elna june,

Thank you for this beautifully written recap. I just love your hilarious and dead-on descriptions of the exploits of the Purple Panther.

Fatima

Over on the Telemundo page, we never discuss 'avances' because that station tends to load their previews with spoilers. It was bothering a couple of regular commenters, so we made a decision to avoid talking about them on the blog. But that rule only applies to the Telemundo page.

Here on the Univision side of the fence, we have always felt that 'avances' were fair game. I have to say, though, that I wish I hadn't seen last night's, and I have no intention of discussing them here.

Tell me, did I hear that correctly in that Jose Luis did NOT tell Montserrat what he had really told Pedro (that he wouldn't involve himself in such a deal)?

You heard right, Fatima. Here is what they said:

Montserrat: What did that 'patán' want? What did you talk about?
JL: He asked me if this time around, I was willing to kill Alejandro to get him out of your life.
M: What did you answer?
JL: What you already know -- that if I find you with him again, I'll finish off all of us. [acabo con todos]

It's pretty clear that the Mad Dog persona is reserved for Montserrat, Alejandro and Rosario. With everyone else, JL says he is not a killer, and he talks about his reluctance to abuse his power and his confidence that he will win Montserrat over (perhaps with his boyish charm?).

Carlos,

I also thought both Fina and Dimitrio looked hurt. By the way, I loved the visuals of that scene, with the two seated so far away from one another, separated by that low, square table.

It's a funny thing -- I find myself indifferent to Maria's civil rights at this point. Don't know why...

Thanks Elna June for the recap.

What an episode! Josefina looked absolutely radiant - go girl! Hey, Dim - definitely your error and not Josefina's. So, glad she looked upbeat/confident and not defeated despite the engagement news.

Maria is finally getting some punishment. Good. She obstructed justice for Alejandro by not turning the will over to the proper authorities and trying to keep it for her own selfish gain. It is unbelievable that she has had it taken from her 3 times now (correct me if I am wrong)! You would think she would have learned how have the will in safer keeping if it meant so much to her to use for her own gain. Oh, well.

EZ is a womanizing slimeball! He tried to put the moves on Monica. Ugh! We should be getting ready to say poor blindsided Carlotta because she will be crushed when the truth about EZ comes out.

Pedro seems really uneasy. He seems to be lacking confidence. Perhaps, on the verge of paranoia - or at least he should be. EZ and Adolfo are more powerful than before and know too much. This is going to get interesting between these three.

I am looking forward to tonight's episode.

Buenos Dias, Amigos:

Lily: I am glad you enjoyed the recap. Yes, indeed, there was so much filler it was hard to pay attention to what might be important.

Hi, Aunty Ann:

I thought that Grettell Valdez looked absolutely gorgeous last night. Maria may be crazy but she sure is a lovely woman. That outfit with the bold striped top and lean jeans looked great on the actress. Much better than the soft cotton 'peasant' tops she wore for the first 1/3 of the show.

Dear Friend Judy B.- I am so glad you enjoyed the recap. I cannot get over what the hair and makeup folks have done to little Lauro! I do not know why it bothers me so much but I just want to see the natural little kid.

Diana: You heavenly being, you! I am delighted you enjoyed the recap. Wasn't that "art" placement hysterical? It was so cleverly sarcastic and just what our Maria would have chosen. The set designer had a good laugh on that one, I am sure.

I thought I saw something shocking in the avances, too. I don't hold much with avances in general, because they frequently show misleading information. If I recap them, I tend to forget the action when it arrives the next day and hold to the idea I formed in watching the avances.

Telenovela avances are sort of like having a dream filled with portents—but without a resident psychic/shrink to interpret the events, it's just a big jumble in the mind.

Daisynjay: So great to see you! Yes, I thought Monica's look was very harsh last night. The actress is stunning but I do not like the character so I wondered if it was just me. I also don't feel like she has any real chemistry with Dimitrio. JMHO.

Thanks to all for commenting!

EJ

Yikes. Well now you guys have me all in a lather about the "avances". I usually just watch the next day on Hulu Plus and they don't show the previews, but I see I am going to have to stay up and watch the whole durned thing tonight!

But remember, even when someone gets shot and folks moan and wring their hands and talk about the person's condition as being "muy delicada", they always seem to recover.

Yes JL said he would kill Ale, Monse, by the same token his child and himself. Wow what a upstanding guy, smdh but poor JL he is just confused, right? but if Ale said the same thing off with his head alas such is "novela life"
Romy

Romy:

To me, both men are the same. Really! They have both abused Monse. Ale isn't the clean white knight either, and neither is JL.

Speaking of wall decor, have we ever discussed the two lovely images of the Virgen de Guadalupe displayed so prominently in Josefina's new house?

In another context, we might find it heavy-handed symbolism, but in a telenovela, it is...well...subtle.

elna june, you asked if EZ was going to sneak out of this intact. I say no, though perhaps he will get killed off and leave his reputation intact. I could live with that :D

From my point of view, it wasn't too clear if Maria is under arrest or just being taken in for questioning. And no Carlos, I don't think Ale is being a rat.

Even if they leave out Gracie putting the blame on Maria and Juvie for Ben's death, there is sufficient reasoning to take her in for questioning, because she herself has told Ale she has the original will and will give it to him if he does as she asks. The will belongs to him so he has a right to have the judge intervene. The judge just said they had a warrant to search her place for the will, and as you said, she isn't being accused of anything yet.

I totally agree with you Carlos on Maria. Ok, you can pick yourself up off the floor now.
No, I don't like her, but you are 100% correct that they didn't have anything on her to haul her off in handcuffs which is why I alluded to the idea she'll be out soon.

But that said, how many times have we seen in these TN's that it's "your guilty until proven innocent" with people hauled into jail cells. All you need is someone with a trumped up accusation, maybe a lame clue or two, and boom, hello slammer.

Daisynjay

Maricruz Lopez:

Good point about the investigation of that Judge. I took it more as that too, because she is a known flight risk. She disappeared before and so that Judge wants to make sure she doesn't disappear again.

In this country, people are innocent until
Riven guilty , but in other countries (France , for example, I think), people are guilty until proven innocent. In Mexico, are people guilty until proven innocent ?

Thank you for the recap!!!

EZ is such a slime ball, trying to get Monica's hand, but he seems to be smarter than Adolfo and Pedro. And if he has been an informant, he has been a pretty bad one bec Adolfo and Pedro have had no problems. He has probably just been giving the Marina little stuff to stay in their good graces.

Adolfo has nothing keeping him safe now. The will is out of his grasp and EZ has gotten the deal with the Marina. Things looking really bad for him.

Previews look pretty awful too.

Susanlynn- Yes. In Mexico, you are guilty until proven innocent.

Thanks Daisynjay.

I could tell from your original comment that you thought that María was being treated unfairly in this instance. I appreciate and admire the sense of fairness expressed by you, Madelaine, and Vivi even though none of you have been María fans.

Thanks Elna June,

for recognizing María's intrinsic beauty, although I preferred her simple peasant girl attire... if only she had a little headband... sigh

Carlos

Chuckling about the comments on Art by the Yard. I call it Motel Art and I think I have some on my walls. So I was okay with the paintings. It was the puke green striped couch that gave me heartburn.

Maria's hiding place for her killer disguise and the will was sweetly straightforward. Graciela didn't need to rummage in her closet when it was right there in the bureau drawer. Thanks Maria! That way Graciela didn't have to break a nail looking for it.

Well, while María's safely (I hope) in jail, I'm looking forward to Pedro discovering that she is still alive. EZ's and Adolfo's explanation should be very interesting.

Carlos

Carlos:

There is that too. Why didn't she tell Ale about Peddy? She just mentioned being a hooker and doing the drugs but not about Peddy wanting her dead, hmmm......

Madelaine,

while I was praising your sense of fairness you came up with this:

"She disappeared before and so that Judge wants to make sure she doesn't disappear again."

I don't think that she ever even knew that the judge had been looking for her, and if you recall, she was hiding out from Pedro who thought that he had already had her killed.

By the way, the only reason that the will is even still around is because María preserved it.

Carlos

I , too, thought that Maria looked especially beautiful last night....just before she was arrested. She has such delicate features and looks more like the pretty girl next door than the crazy, obsessed person she is portraying. As in real life, you cannot judge a book by its cover.

I also agree that Fina keeps looking finer and finer. She has a calm elegant look now. I do not doubt that she and Still Dim Dim we find their way back to each other.

I believe that the body count willby high at the end of this novels...Ped, EZ, Fofo., Maria....and perhaps a few innocent bystanders. However, I believe that our eternally grasping Gracie will live to buy more tablecloths, poke more heads, and wheel more deals.

Carlos:

I didn't mean that in a bad way, I just meant that had to have been the judges reasoning. We all know Peddy wanted her dead, but no one else does. That's why I asked why she didn't tell Ale about it and I know she kept that will safe, but remember she gave it to Addled to hold on to, and he would have kept it safe too, cause it's Addled's life insurance.

Jarifa:

I had the same thought that you did regarding Maria: if she had found the gun. I could just see her offing Ale, the Judge and herself. I am glad THAT did not happen.

Maria's character is a nut job but I have to say, Alejandro certainly did NOT cover himself with glory in that relationship.

Urban Anthropologist: Thanks for reminding us of the scene between Refu and JL. It seems that "abuse of power' is a phrase JL uses that has multiple meanings, depending on the context.

Hi, Rebecca: Thank you for commenting.

AS far as Poor Blind Nadia getting her sight back, I agree with Urban—my guess is no. This is not really a "HAPPY HAPPY" telenovela where everything will end up just dandy. Nadia's character was always a victim. Making her blind means she is even more vulnerable. Plus, for all of us who still harbor a soft spot for the stone killer Adolfo, her infirmity may provide her brother the chance to go down heroically sacrificing himself for her or for Josefina. No spoilers here, ever. Just speculation on my part.

Hi, Mads: So glad you found the recap breezy. Big smile. I think you are right. EZ is just going to throw Adi and Peddy under the bus. His taunts made sure that Adi would handle the movement of product without the help of EZ's guys. But did you also notice that in refusing to identify the Scorpion, he left his options open until the very end. Adi once called himself 'the Zcorpion', in a scene where he shot an informant, 'up north'.

I think EZ could say that either Peddy or Adi are the Scorpion and he would be believed.

EZ is an oleaginous SOB, isn't he?

Maricruz Lopez, I am so glad you enjoyed the recap.Hee hee. We have to have a little fun making fun of Graciela's outfits, don't we? The wardrobe people have made her such an easy target!

And I also agree with you that Diana, our blog angel, should be writing recaps. Her description of Fina was poignant and spot on.

EJ

Elna June, thank you for your humorous and witty recap, like the others had much the same conclusions on Gracie's wardrobe last night. I was watching with my 22 year old niece, and we had a good laugh over her tablecloth and dresser scarf collection draped over her chest. Loved your "no honor among thieves" comment.
I am staying with my relatives who, strangely, don't usually watch Telenovelas. We didn't have any CC's, so I was grateful for your clarification of the Adolfo, EZ and Pedro convo.
Maria's arrest-wondered what the crime was (she has many, but no one but Adolfo knows them and he ain't talking). Other countries have different rules for arrest, does anyone out there remember the girl that went missing in Arruba? They had Dutch law-and the investigation process was so inept and so much like the Telenovela process, and they kept locking up various individuals and releasing them. They had the right to lock up any suspect while they investigated them for up to a month, as I recall.
The actress that plays Maria (Gretel?) is so beautiful, and I was so surprised to find out she is older-late 30's, I think, but she looks like she's in her 20's.
Gracie never fails to confiscate evidence, does she? Always to use for her own interests.

María pleaded with Alejandro saying that he knew that she did not participate with Juventino in the poisoning of don Benny. He replied that if she had been aware of it and remained silent that she was an accomplice. How would he know that if he weren't also aware of the fact? Did he suspect that her dad or maybe Dominga were also involved? Doesn't he suspect Graciela?

Sorry, he's being a rat and the look on his face when she was led away confirms it.

Maricruz L,

"From my point of view, it wasn't too clear if Maria is under arrest or just being taken in for questioning."

The judge told her that she was detenida (arrested), that's pretty clear to me.

Carlos

Maybe the actor who plays Laurito has a stage mom who thinks this is a good look for her little guy. Maybe it's not the tn producers at all. A good mom would surely protest them making her child look like a colorful cockatoo, no?

I would think "abuse of power" would include using public funds (in this case, the police force) for personal use (keeping an eye on your wife). The jerk JL is quick to point out how honorable and different he is from Pedro, but is he really? Don't both Mad Dogs have other faithful dogs watching their wives who don't, and never will want to be with them and who are completely in love with someone else? Malditos perros!

Have to agree with you EJ - I don't think Nadia will get her sight back either, although it was vague as to why it happened. She was losing her sight after the accident if I recall. As you say, this is not a Happy Ever After type TN. In fact, anyone who comes out in one piece in this one should consider themselves lucky, dependent where they wind up.

You know, I sort of chuckle reading the comments on our little Laurito cutie. I agree, I don't like the spiky hair and coloration...but having two nephews in that age group, those little buggers for the most part think it's sort of cool to do those goofy looks. My nephew for his birthday back in May wanted to "dress up" for his party which had relatives and whole bunch of school bodies (his first double digit birthday--10), and my brother and sister-in-law bought into the idea until he showed pictures what HE thought he should like all dressed up. Cool outfit, but it included the stand up in the middle spikey, messy look with the product to hold it, just like the big boys do, and he wanted to get those temp highlights you can do now. (Wash right out after). My brother told him this will be like Halloween, because he isn't going to stay that way. And you know what...over half the little boys who showed up at the party all had the look and we suddenly got the idea why he wanted it. And I gathered they always look that way. He actually hated all the product and was glad to wash it out. So I don't think how they show Laurito is so far-fetched unfortunately.

Daisynjay

Carlos:

I am not meaning to argue with you, but detenida can also mean to detain or to keep as well as arrest, coming from the word detener. Wouldn't the word they should have used been arrestar or better detencion? Just a question?

Hola Robo crowd---I'm between novelas right now and have decided
to drop in on this one, great story and great cast. I was going to write it off because I have missed so much and it will be impossible to catch up but after
seeing bits and pieces for awhile now, I just can't stay away.

Elna June [nice name] you have made my morning with you comment about Graciela buying her fashions
from Bed Bath and Beyond---also, that some nice abula in Aguazul is missing her fancy Navidad white lace linens. So funny.

Yesterday there was some discussion about Luis Roberto Guzman not being a good actor. It
was too late in the day to send in a comment so I will do so now.
My take is that while one might not like the character that he is portraying, I think that he is playing his part quite well. The other day when he was laying down the rules [his rules] to Montse for Alejandro's release from jail,
he was spot on. Great acting in my view.
the gringo

Today's quote in the local newspaper made me think of our friends in Bluewawa.

"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."...George Orwell

I would like to share my horoscope for today with Maria and JL. "If wishes were gold nuggets, everyone would be rich." which reminds me of one of my mothers favorite sayings, "If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride." And my fav "Wishing does not make it so."

Great recap EJ! I noticed that Gracie dumped stuff from Maria's closet onto the floor before she went through the dresser drawers. Yet later, when Maria went into her bedroom to look for the will, the room was perfect. Does that mean that Gracie cleaned up the mess she made?? Who'd a thought Gracie would care enough to clean up a "floozie's" bedroom? This TN never ceases to amaze.

And I'm with you on Lauro's hair. The kid looks like a dork.

16Hello,
This is my first time commenting on this page and i must commend each and everyone of you for making this show much more entertaining to me, I really like the ways you go about analyzing each and every episode and guessing what is to come next. You guys are just fun.

I am sick of this plot line where the will changes hands more times than a hot potato. That, plus Maria hiding the testamento in an open drawer along with murder weapon and wig are just too preposterous.

So the only way to get through that for this huero is to just play this telenovela for laughs.

BTW, seems like we are in for one of the shortest wedding engagements on record. On the bright side, Dimi can regift the ring to Fina after the appropriate mourning time.

Gringo:

Welcome and I have missed you since AV. I think you will like this novella, it is in the darkness right now but there are light moments too.

Baba Chene:

Welcome to Caray Caray and yes, please join us on our Patio. I am glad you are enjoying the recaps and comments.

Hello Baba Chene!! welcome to the fun! Please join in the discussions, more the merrier.

Daisynjay

As BM has been detained for questioning, she probably should call a lawyer but whoopsie, she might have killed the only one she knew. Since the local/state govt., police, marines all operate with impunity with reference to the civilian population in this novela anything can hapoen.

Jarifa

Elna June - Terrific recap, perfect title.

There’s a famous skit of Carol Burnett parodying Scarlett O’Hara. She's dressed in the drapes – metal rod and all. Graciela reminded me of this so much last night that I couldn't take her seriously.

Ale takes another bold step. But I couldn't help but feel a tad sorry for Maria that her old friend helped entrap her with the authorities. She's certainly got it coming though.

Got to admire EZ. He's getting out before it hits the fan. Adolfo should've thought of this.

Gringo, nice to see you here!

EJ: Thanks so much for the recap. Some things seem to be starting to gain momentum.

Didn’t see all this ep. Just a few scenes, the end and that rather interesting preview.

So EZ wants out? For the love of Lottie?

Are we seeing the beginning of the end of Maria? Ale has come to the end of his rope with Maria—and he has yet to learn that she tried to kill Mons.

Dim is very conflicted. I believe he loves both women. But I’m hoping, in his heart, that his love for Fina is the stronger.

Daisy: I’m wondering if the phone calls between Vic and Nadia is a writer set up for Pedro to find out. The more they talk, the more their chances of getting caught.

JudyB: “Now find myself hoping that EZ will die a (seemingly) noble death, and that Robledo will hide the nasty truth from Carlota. She can sweetly mourn EZ and we can all hope that one day she and Robledo will console each other.”—I love this idea. And I also love the word zaftig.

I’m wondering if black and white is the new fashion. Over on DTQT2, both Irene, Nat and, I believe, Brat, where it.

Carlos: I know I was in the minority, but I really liked Matie’s headbands on CME. I thought they suited her.

I’d love to see Ale double cross Gracie re: the will.

Welcome Baba Chene.

Nanette

Carlos, are you implying that anyone should be grateful to that psycho bitch? Adolfo should have taken a safe deposit box in a phony name for that will. He was an idiot to trust Maria.

Alejandro helping the police arrest Maria is payback time and he doesn't even know the half of what she did. And she would be lucky to already be behind bars so neither Monserrat or Rosario could kick her behind clear to the other coast.

At this point, our characters are almost playing the old child's game, "Hot Potato", where they keep passing around the guilt and trying not to get caught. Not sure who will come out of this one alive. I predict no one comes out without some type of damage.

I'd like to think Gracie is getting fashion advice from Poor Blind Nadia, but I'm afraid she's steering her own choices. She must pin those shawls to her shoulders so they don't fall off.

I always enjoy your elegant, yet sly, take on things, Elna June. Hope your household is falling into place and the moving trauma has faded.

Carlos, I re-watched the part, and you are right. I must have been dozing off last night, but Ale and the judge used the word "detenida" several times, indicating she was under arrest for suspicion of being Juventino's accomplice in the murder of Ben, plus they had a search warrant to look for the will.

JL and Refugio's conversation that followed confirmed it, when JL told Ref there was a warrant out for her arrest and that she was detained and on her way.

Oops! My bad (blushing), but still she does deserve to be arrested for all the bad things she's done, including "taking a knife to Nadia's recital." ;-)

Maricruz

I remember thinking that when Monse went into labor little Lauro was thinking "Mama is in danger; I must save her!"

Nanette,

"The more they talk, the more their chances of getting caught."

She at least needs a yappy little ankle-biter to warn her whenever Pedro comes near. She was just sitting blithely in the middle of her yard chatting away in front of God and everybody. My preference would be Balzac from AV although he might be a bit too placid and quiet.

UA,

"Carlos, are you implying that anyone should be grateful to that psycho bitch?"

Yes, beginning with the entire Patio. This TN was getting very lethargic until she goosed back into action with her mercy killing of Sandro and siccing JL on the illicit lovers.

Maricruz,

'...she does deserve to be arrested for all the bad things she's done, including "taking a knife to Nadia's recital."'

Heh heh, good one.

Carlos

UA,

"Mama is in danger; I must save her!"

Cute.

Balzac ( heh )

This may be late to the party, but I thought they arrested Maria because they were listening at the door. I thought they were listening to her tell Ale that she had the will, and that would have been illegal, no? To withhold evidence like that is surely illegal, even in TNland?
Thx
Rebecca

It certainly would be.

One more thing: judging from what we all think is coming tonight, I am super duper grateful for this community because I surely couldn't watch it without someone holding my hand, albeit electronically. I want to say that I think the writers did a very good job with this TN in giving many of the characters depth and complexity. Maria is a bit of a one note aria (I know that's not the expression but I can't find it right now), but characters like Adolfo and Dim, are really nuanced. If Adolfo does what they implied, I admit I'll be crushed.

I don't think there is or can be any happy ending (dying with reputation in tact) for EZ. To quote Elna June, who just taught me this word, he is WAY too oleaginous! I think he needs an anvil appropriate to the dirty, rotten, social climbing scum bucket that he is, and that the lovely Carlotta should be rescued by the good hearted Robledo.

And regarding this not being a happy ending type TN, Amor Bravio had some pretty dark moments but the end was tied up quite neatly in a "happily ever after" bow.... So while I accept (and appreciate) everyone's warning that PBN will not become ANTCSV (awesome Nadia that see Victor/ia) I'm going to hope for the Pollyanna ending!

Rebecca,

"...the good hearted Robledo."

Admiral Robledo may indeed be good-hearted, but as I have continued to point out, he is corrupt. To placate Graciela's fear of family scandal he mishandled JL's case which led to the murder of Lt. Avellenada by Refugio during the illegally ordered (by Robeledo) secret prisoner transfer and subsequent escape and then later just excused that murder.

I suppose that was good-hearted but undeniably a corrupt abuse of power.

Carlos

Sorry to post so late. Hope some of you get to read this before tonight's thrilling episode:

After this episode, I really don’t know what to think about Gracie. I totally confused as to whether she’ll give up on Monse and Dim and protect Fabs or vice versa. She has the wig and gun which she can use against Maria if Maria tries to do something funky to Gracie while she is in the slammer. But she also has the last will and testimony of Ben. Will she go for the money? Didn’t you guys love the black and white blouse Maria had on? True jailhouse fashion statement.

Thank goodness Ale finally wised up to her demented brain. Oh how I loved that HE showed up at Maria’s with the judge and police. That was so great!

I thought that Pedro was going to finally stop having constipation problems in this episode and let it all go! He’s stuttering more and more. He’s getting hit from all sides. What will he do to Maria now that she’s in jail?

So much to guess about!!!!! And the previews, this novela is really accelerating in suspense and surprises.

Niecie, loved that Carol Burnett skit of her playing Scarlett Ohara in her mother's portiers.

Notice that EZ didn't say anything to Monica about wanting to save his marriage -- just his career and skin!

All:
Thanks so much for all your comments. Novela Maven and Carlos, La Paloma, Susanlynn (thinking of you lately my dear, Fatima, niece and Nannette, Carlos, Vivi, Maricruz. Gringo, Baba Chene, and all other dear commenters, thank you for coming by.

I spent a long but boring afternoon at my doctor's office. Glad to be back home. Thanks for all the well wishing from everyone. Little by little we are getting settled and, as we do, I will be rejoining my favorite group here on the Patio.

Sending good wishes to all.

Elna June

What was Carol's line ?..," I saw it in the window , and I just could not resist." I think that her designer Bob Mackie actually suggested the idea for that skit, and he did a fabulous job with the outfit she wore.

(((Elna June)))..Thanks for having me in your thoughts. My family and I are adjusting to our new reality.

Haven't read all the comments yet, but remember that in the US one can be held for what 48-72 hours without formal charges. Do I have that correct? So maybe Maria will get of jail.

Carlos you may not see this, but, as usual, good point. I still like Robledo better than EZ, but he too is not white as snow. This place should be called Muddy water not Blue Water.

elna june, I hope your doctor visit was not for something serious. You've been through some major changes in your life right now which can be so very stressful. We hope to see you soon back on the patio on a more regular basis. We miss you very much!

Susanlynn, remember that I am sending you wings of support. :)

Fatima

(((Fatima))) Thanks, Amiga.
