Lo Que la Vida Me Robó Lunes 6/30/14 #164

Chapter 164: Unlikely Allies

Judge's Office: Maria Zamudio sat before the judge, pleading with him to listen to her, saying she was a victim. In all her years of turning tricks she had learned how to play to men's weaknesses and she was using those skills for all they were worth.
She seemed to have fooled her attorney into representing her and now she was crying in front of the judge. Crying in a way designed to provoke pity in him. Just as Gracie had tried.

Valverde House: Alejandro was making his bed when Monserrat called from the cellphone dedicated to their secret calls. She told him the tragic news about Monica and how Dimitrio was emotionally destroyed. Alejandro told her he would be at the funeral despite any danger to himself. Outside in the garden Victor and Josefina talked about the newspaper article about the raid. It didn't mention the name of the shooting victim. Alejandro joined them and filled in the blanks. Josefina was stunned. She decided to go to the funeral.
After she left the table to go inside, the two men talked about Maria's arrest and her questioning by the judge.

Funeral Parlor: Dimitrio Mendoza sat in the funeral parlor in his uniform trousers and plain matching shirt. He was numb, staring into space. The other officers, including Admiral Robledo, stood silently near the coffin in full blue dress uniform. Monserrat Mendoza arrived with Mad Dog Álvarez and Rosario Dominguez, all respectfully dressed in black. She immediately sat next to her brother.

God, I have no words. I don't know what to say, Dimitrio, except that I'm so sorry.”

Dimitrio answered as if he were almost in a trance. “We loved each other. We would have been married alone on the beach. And now she's not here. She doesn't exist.”

For a moment he didn't see his Aunt Carlota enter on the arm of her husband, Mayor Basurto. They were followed by his mother, Gracie, in a flaming red dress.
Admiral Robledo watched them carefully. Mayor Basurto and Mad Dog Álvarez took their places near the coffin. Aunt Carlota knelt in front of Dimitrio and took his hands.

My beautiful boy, I'm so sorry,” she said as she began to cry. “I'm here for you.”

Dimitrio couldn't help noticing his mother approaching. Gracie wasn't going to take this lying down. She never liked the idea of any other woman being important to her son. She stared down at her late husband's sister.

Move over, Carlota. I want to be with my baby. Move it.”

Carlota obeyed and got up. She kissed her nephew before sitting on the far side of the couch. Gracie knelt in the same spot.

My little boy, I'm here. I want to be with you.”

I don't want you here,” he replied. “You can leave.”

Don't say that, love. I'm your mother and I want to comfort you. What's better than a mother's arms to help remove the pain? I love you, baby.”

A mother's arms?”

Yes.”

Hm. That's what I want.”

She stood up. He got up from the couch. She started to embrace him but he ignored the attempt and went straight to Rosario, who embraced him as though he were her own son. Gracie couldn't believe her eyes. Nor her ears when Monserrat got up and spoke.

It's better that you leave, Mother.” She joined her brother and cried with him and Rosario.

Gracie stared for a second. She then took a few steps to be in view of the male mourners as she made a show of the sign of the cross before leaving silently.

The Scorpion's Nest: Adolfo Argüelles – AKA The Scorpion – sat on his couch alone. He couldn't decide whether he was numb, sad, frightened, or all three. The doorbell rang four times before he got up to answer. Josefina entered, saying she was afraid he wasn't home.

I'm sorry, Josefina. I have a bit of a headache.”

I'm sorry, Adolfito, but I had to find you. Something horrible happened. The Navy did a raid and a punk called The Scorpion killed Monica. Dimitrio's fiancée.”

That can happen in the Navy. I guess they killed a lot of people in that operation.”

Well, yes, but it's not the same.” She sat down. “Monica is... was a good person. On the other hand, the criminals weren't good people and – “

I don't feel well,” Adolfo said, interrupting her. “I don't feel well.”

Adolfo, Dimitrio was your friendn for many years. How can we leave him alone at such a difficult time? Come with me to the funeral. Please, just for a little while.”

Josefina, you know I don't like funerals. Besides, we're the last people Dimitrio will want to see.”

No. I don't believe that. I think our support would be welcome. Did you know that Dimitrio recently proposed marriage to Monica? He was very much in love with her. Now he needs us and we will be there for him. Come on, Adolfo. Come with me.”

He felt like a cockroach in a Raid commercial.

Funeral Parlor: Alejandro walked into the funeral parlor. In front of the naval officers and Mad Dog Álvarez he embraced Monserrat.

How are you?”

She gently broke the embrace. “Sad and worried for my brother. I've never seen him like this. Not since my father died.”

She stepped away to allow him to approach her brother. Mad Dog Álvarez came in and pulled her aside.

It's one thing to flaunt this in my face in private. It's another to exhibit this in front of everyone. Hm. Respect. Respect me in public. I'm your husband.”

I haven't done anything bad,” she said. “No disrespect. This isn't the place for your reproaches.”

Hey, hey, hey. Control yourself. Control your impulses. Control what that man provokes or your brother will cry at another funeral. I'm not like you, Monserrat. I follow through. I keep my promises.
Control yourself. Do you hear me?”

Alejandro stood and watched. He knew something bad was in the air.

Medina Mansion: Nadia was trying to play the role of Pedro's wife by helping him dress. She was blind so she had a problem or two, but Pedro refused to cut her any slack for that. He found it easier to bully and intimidate her now that she was blind. She had trouble trying to put on his zodiac pendant and he grabbed it from her. The maid showed Amelia Arechiga in and Pedro changed his tune. “How good to see you,” he said as he handed it to her. She gave in to his request to put it on him. He took the opportunity to inhale her perfume as though he were about to seduce her. Amelia complimented his looks before asking whether he would allow her to spend the day with Nadia. To take her shopping and to visit Josefina. He laughed at the idea, but gave his permission. In return he demanded that they obey his order to be home before nine. They responded “Yes, Pedro” in unison, as though he were a drill sergeant. They would pick Victoria up from school and visit Josefina later.

He wished them a good day and left. Both women were relieved to see him go.

Funeral Parlor: Macario and Dominga paid their respects. Adolfo and Josefina arrived. He had taken the time to change into black, but no time would have been enough to prepare himself to face this roomful of mourners.

Dimitrio, I'm so sorry,” Josefina began. “I hope it doesn't bother you that we came, but you know I can feel your pain and that you can't talk about what's in your heart.”

Yes, I know. Thanks.”

I'm very sorry,” Adolfo said, with difficulty. He took his hand without looking him in the eye and embraced him so that his face could not give him away.

Valverde House: Lauro was in the garden with Victor, who tried to explain why he couldn't be with his Uncle Dimitrio. The doorbell rang and Amelia came into the garden with Victoria. Victor embraced his little girl and Amelia told him he was in for a surprise. He stood up and Nadia came in.
They kissed as though one of them had just returned from a war.

Almonte House: Fabiola Guillen was engaged in her favorite activity, drinking. She was therefore annoyed when the doorbell rang because she had to answer it herself. She opened the door to a tearful Gracie, who walked in without being invited.

Fabiola, my children don't love me. They don't love me.” She took the wine glass out of Fabiola's hand. “I only have you,” she wailed as she embraced her. “I only have you, Fabiola. I only have you. You.”

Fabiola backed away, pushing her back slightly.

Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, no, no, No! You and I are not friends.”She picked up the wine glass and went back to the living room. “We have a deal, but that agreement doesn't allow you to come crying to me with your problems.”

That's not fair, Fabiola,” Gracie said, following her to the bar. “I've had to put up with you coming to my place crying and drinking.”

Excuse me, but it was never important to you that I'm an orphan. Why is it important to me that you've lost your children?”
Gracie took the glass away again. “What binds you and me is money. Only that. Ambition is the only thing that you and I have in common. You are to help me so I don't lose all this and I will pay you very well for that.”

You will not drink again while I'm talking to you.”

What do you care what I do?”

Things are about to hit the breaking point and any mistake on your part will cost you big, Fabiola. Alejandro is in Aguazul at the point of demonstrating his innocence. And you are close to being locked up in prison and losing your entire fortune.”

To stop that you need to have the will I stole in your hands. You and I have to find it first, Graciela.”

Do you realize that I'm going to help you at the cost of my daughter's happiness? Don't you get that?”

You have to know something. If you don't protect me, if you do anything that puts me in prison or takes all this away from me, I will accuse Monserrat of Sandro's murder. So you better think hard about what you're going to do.”

Gracie wiped her eyes carefully and closed in. “You are not going to accuse my daughter of anything.”
Fabiola backed away from her, holding her beloved glass in her right hand behind her. “Because you know something? I can demonstrate that she is innocent.”

You can? How? Who did it?”

There are many things you need to know.”

Very well,” she said before taking another sip. “I'll listen to you.”

I won't talk to a drunk alcoholic like you.” She watched Fabiola play with her glass. “Is it important to you to find your birth mother?”

You know something about that?”

Yes. If you can stay sober for a confrontation with Amelia we will know.”

Fabiola started to take another sip, but Gracie snatched the glass and threw it across the room.

Not one glass more. I'm coming here in the morning and if you're drinking you can forget my help in getting the answers to all those questions that have been tormenting you.” She poked her frizzed head.
One glass!” She strode out without a backward glance.

Fabiola stood for a moment. Her hands shook so she went back to the bar to pour herself another glass. With great reluctance she started to pour it on the beautiful carpet.

Valverde House: Victor kissed Nadia again and again, as though he would never have another chance. He thanked Amelia for making this happen. He and Nadia spoke of the happiness they would have before Amelia reminded her that they needed to get back to their prison. There was one more round of kisses. Lauro told Victoria that he has the same conversation with his parents.

Funeral Parlor: The Scorpion knew he was trapped by his own path. He was getting antsy in the presence of so many military officers and the Chief of Police.

I know we've been too distant for too long. That weighs on me,” he said to Dimitrio. “I want you to know I'll do anything for you if you need help. Doesn't matter what it is.”

Thanks, I'm grateful. I know it cost you to get here.”

You can count on me, too,” said Josefina. “Independently of everything that happened between us I want you to think of us as friends.”

We have to leave in a moment,” said Adolfo, who was fidgety. “I have things to do.”

Thanks. Thanks for coming.”

You have to stay, but honestly I can't handle funerals.”

Don't worry; I have my family.”

Don't stay away,” said Josefina. “I want you to know I'm here for you, too.”

Thanks.” They embraced briefly before Josefina headed for the door with Adolfo. They should have left a minute earlier; Pedro Medina arrived at the same time.

What are you doing here, Josefina?” he demanded. “I thought my wife was spending some time with you. This morning she said she was going to your house.”

Josefina knew what was really going on. “Precisely why we're leaving right now, Pedro. After hearing about Monica's death we came here. It was a shock to all of us.” Adolfo checked his watch for emphasis.

Remind Amelia that my wife and Victoria have to be home before 9 o'clock tonight.”

Yes, yes.” She and Adolfo passed him on their way to the door.

Before nine o'clock tonight!” he shouted after them as they departed. He then turned his attention to Dimitrio, who was disgusted at the sight of him.
Doña Carlota watched with distaste. Pedro shook Dimitrio's hand and gave the brief hug that might have been sympathetic from anyone else. Or a Mafia signal from himself.

You must be feeling awful, Dimitrio. I understand Captain Renteria was your fiancée.”

Until The Scorpion killed her.”

Suspicions, nothing more.”

They stared. Dimitrio knew what he was facing.

Valverde House: Victor and Nadia talked about their desperate situation. She told him of Pedro's threat to take Victoria away from her. She explained about the show she and Victoria had to put on for Pedro. The children played in the house, playing hide and seek with Amelia, hiding under a coffee table. She knew they were there, but left the room so they could be alone.
The two kids talked about their strange family situations. Victoria told Lauro that she was afraid of Pedro.

Funeral Parlor: Alejandro sat next to his mother but his attention was on Pedro. He knew that their ultimate showdown would not be long in coming. Monserrat, Dimitrio, and Mad Dog Álvarez also stared as Pedro approached Admiral Robledo.
The Admiral stared back at Pedro, stoic as his rank demanded. He allowed Pedro to shake his hand and play the governor to the hilt.

I'm sorry, Admiral. You lost an important operative in this mission.”

Yes. Captain Renteria was an example to follow for many of my unit.”

Yes, yes, I understand,” Pedro said insincerely. “But we both understand perfectly well that a woman – a real woman – above all should stay at home. In her kitchen, and taking care of her children.” Admiral Robledo was gritting his teeth at these insults, but Pedro ignored it. “I can't believe that this woman went on a dangerous mission that should only be done by men.”

I've known many men – including yourself – who don't have the guts to do what Captain Renteria did. It wasn't easy for her to achieve her rank. We will always remember her integrity, her performance, and her great courage.”

Pedro didn't have time to answer this. Alejandro approached from behind.

Excuse me, Admiral,” he said. “I want to talk to you, Medina. Come with me.”

A pleasure to talk to you, Admiral,” Pedro said, shaking his hand. Ezekiel watched him carefully as he left the main room to join Alejandro and Mad Dog Álvarez.

I know perfectly well who you are,” Alejandro said to Pedro. “You are the only other person who saw Joaquin Arechiga's suicide note and you burned it. You were his partner in that dirty business.”

Yes. I know it, too,” said the police chief. “You're also behind this operation the Navy was breaking up.”

Pedro laughed. He had no idea how ridiculous he was in the presence of two men far more manly than he ever had been. “It's ridiculous. Two men after one woman. Instead of fixing that like men you bother me with your absurd suspicions.”

Excuse me, but those are different things,” said Álvarez. “My problem with Alejandro is one thing but that you are a criminal is another.”

Watch what you're saying. You're talking to the governor of this state.”

It doesn't matter to me who you are,” Alejandro said. “The day is coming when you will pay for all the pain you've caused.”

If I discover that you had anything to do with the death of Captain Renteria,” said Álvarez, “I'll put you in the clink. Got that?”

You can stop your threats, Jose Luis,” said Pedro. “I'm not your enemy. Because in front of us is the man who wants to destroy you.” He looked at Alejandro. “If you don't finish off Alejandro first.”

For the moment my attention is on you,” Alejandro said back.

We're not talking about us,” Álvarez said. “We're talking about you. I've got evidence against you. You can't imagine where I found it.”

Whichever of you,” he spat, “You, or you, dares to touch a hair on me will die. Be very careful what you do or you leave me no choice but to force me to take action against Monserrat. Excuse me.” [If someone can translate that better, I owe you.]

He pushed back against Alejandro and made a gesture of disgust. Mad Dog Álvarez tried to follow him, but Alejandro stopped him with a hand to his chest. Medina indicated to Basurto that he wanted to talk to him alone. Alejandro and Mad Dog swallowed their frustration as they left.

What evidence do you have against Pedro? What proof do you have?”

Alejandro, that's my business. Nothing you'd be interested in.”

Medina and Basurto were in a different room.

I can't say that it went well or badly, Pedro.” Basurto said. “The Navy almost captured Adolfo.”

If you knew how much money we stood to lose – “

Of course. That's what hurts me the most. We both know it's your brother-in-law's fault. Another blunder.”

Yes,” he grinned. “I'm thinking the same as you. Adolfo is the only one responsible. But help me think. Do you know who tipped off the Navy about the cargo and when it was coming in?”

No, Pedro. I have no idea. Maybe one of Adolfo's men is a Navy spy. We need to find that out before the authorities get any closer to you or me.”

Here's hoping that there is a Navy spy who is the damned traitor that passed the information.”

Don't worry, Pedro. I'll investigate. Starting with Adolfo.”

Yes, yes. Take charge of that. I have to find out as soon as possible.” He grabbed Ezekiel's shoulder. “When you have the proof of who this traitor is, he'll wish he had never been born.”

He grinned as though he already knew the answer. Then he walked away. Basurto took a deep breath, trying to figure out his next move. Carlota came in from behind him.

What did Pedro want? Anything serious?”

Oh, nothing. Just political stuff. You know he can't think up things himself. Let's go.”

Mendoza/Basurto Mansion: Gracie sat alone on a well-padded chair. The past was coming back to haunt her as she remembered a conversation with Benjamín.

Graciela, why don't you come back to bed so we can continue our pleasure? I don't want you to leave yet.”

My family is expecting me in Aguazul. There's a festival at my children's school tomorrow and I promised to be there with them.”

He took a drag on his cigar. “Graciela, a woman like you should never be a mother.”

Be careful what you say.”

Graciela, you're made for a lot of things, to please a man like me, to sell your flesh for a short time and receive money in exchange. You're the best lover I've had. But you are definitely not made to be a mother.”

Your opinion doesn't bother me,” she replied.

You know, I'm glad our daughter died in your arms,” he said. “Could you imagine a child of mine being raised by a poisonous servant like you?”

Don't talk about my baby. I will not permit that.”

How stupid you were. Getting pregnant thinking that would make me marry you. Graciela, you aren't worthy to be the wife of a man like me, Benjamín Almonte. You're only good for coming into my bed, collecting your pay, and going away for a month or two.”

That's what you say, but you were hurt the day I told you I was marrying Lauro Mendoza. Or not?”

Yes. It's true. I accepted it. I didn't want to share you because fruit like you is meant to be shared. You are beautiful. But look at yourself; you're also a great actress. In my bed and Sundays at Mass with your husband. Lauro, the cuckold. And you never stopped coming to see me despite that. I'm sure that it wasn't just about money. Because with a husband like him you had everything a whore like you dreams of. And month after month you're here like a bitch in heat getting down and dirty and therefore earning your pay. Admit it, Graciela. You've always loved me.”

Funeral Parlor: Macario and Alejandro were having coffee and some serious conversation. Macario told him to talk to Gracie about the will. He knew he was betraying a confidence of sorts. But Gracie was not honorable. Nor was Maria, from whom she had stolen the will. Alejandro asked whether he thought that Gracie had taken it, but he said “Who knows?” His manner made Alejandro suspicious. He said “I've always had the feeling you've been hiding something.”

No. Just talk to her before it's too late.”

Gracie's supposed to return the document to me. I'm giving her the money after I recover my inheritance. I've told you the money means nothing to me. All I want is to clear my name and be with Monserrat and our son.”

Yes, but there are a lot of other things at stake other than the money. Don't trust her. It's possible that one of them could turn that will over to Fabiola.”

Why her? Do you think Gracie made a deal with my cousin?”

With your mother-in-law you never know. Besides, do you think Fabiola will sit still for having the inheritance taken away and her ending up in jail?”

Mendoza/Basurto Mansion: Gracie was finally at the mercy of her memories. She thought about when Dimitrio walked out.

You can't abandon me, son,” she said

No? You wanna see? I'd rather sleep in the street than stay another day near you.”

Please don't leave!”

Let go of me! Let go!”

He had pushed her back until she landed on the floor in her lace dress.
She slid off her chair as she remembered Monserrat's condemnation.

I never thought you would go this far, Mama. But don't worry. I won't demand anything. Only that your conscience gets you and that God will forgive you. It wasn't enough what you've done to me – your own daughter – but what you've done to my son! Your grandson. You took away his father. You killed my husband! Did you ever think about that, Mother?”

Even her own words were hurting now. “There is nothing greater in life than a true mother's love.”

It is the kind of love I've never known,” said Fabiola.

What would you do if you found your real mother? Claim her or get revenge for her abandoning you?”

No. I'd want her to love me! It's what I need! I'm all alone, I don't belong anywhere. I am lost.”

She sank on the floor wailing as she remembered Dimitrio's rejection in the funeral parlour. It was the last rejection of the children of Lauro Mendoza.

Comments:
I think Graciela knows she has lost her two children, Monse and Dim and will sell them out and go with Fabs whom she can expect some sympathy and caring from. However, I really did feel bad for her during the scene with Benjamin. Oh my gosh, what a terrible SOB! If she put up with that kind of talk for years, she really was out for his money and not in love with him as he declared.

If you want to watch some clips of hot steamy sex (probably censored by Uni) watch the clip titled "Amante Bandido" on Vimeo. It has Miguel Bose song by the same name as background music.

Sorry the hot steamy sex is between Ale and Monse

Wonderful recap, Urban. "He felt like a cockroach in a Raid commercial." was my fave. Thanks!

So, we finally got to see Benjamin Almonte in action with Graciela. So he was a mean SOB even to her. After listening to her insults she has delivered to her children and others for so long she sounds just as vile as he did. She learned well. The tears got to be a little much because she is only thinking of herself per usual.

Pedro seemed to be really into slapping everyone really hard on the back. You could hear the slaps. What a jerk. Too bad somebody did not return the favor.

It was great how Ale and JL could present a united front against Pedro.

Very entertaining!

Saludos a todos! Just got together with Rosemary la Otra in Las Vegas for a little telenovela-watching and general revelry (here we are partway through a pitcher of Sinful Vixens at Diablo's Cantina.) She got me all caught up on the trials of Montserrat -- so off we go!

Urban:

Thanks so very much for this truly awesome recap and the screen caps you put up to enhance the recap. Awesome!!!!!

Gracie grieving, hmmmmmm..... the loss of her children. I just don't know. And the flashbacks with Benny. I hate to say it, but he was right about her. She's always been a ho. I don't think she ever loved Benny either. She just "cared" about men that could give her things like money. I think Benny was right when he said she wasn't cut out to be a Mama.

Oh, for a half tic there, I thought Ale and JL would bury the hatchet, no such luck. They would be a great awesome duo to take down the Peddy. I didn't like JL being rude to Monse at the wake either. He needs to stop. Monse actually did nothing wrong.

And who wears red to a funeral for goodness sakes? Gracey that's who! What poor taste. White would have been better. How priceless was it when both Dimi and Monse told Gracey to leave and went and hugged Rosy! Yay! Rosy is a great Mama.

Glad Vic and Nadia had their reunion, how cute was that? The kids were cute too playing hide and seek with Amelia.

Had to laugh at Peddy and his shenanigans and his big wide grin, the man is pyscho! If I'd been Dimi I would have kneed him in the avocadoes, oh, yeah, he hasn't got any, more's the pity. What Peddy said to Admiral Robledo, about the Capitana, I wanted to bash Peddy over the head. I am so glad Admiral Robledo said what he said to Peddy. I liked both Ale and JL confronting old Peddy too. But he isn't afraid of them, he should be! I can't wait for the ultimate huge anvil to hit Peddy.

So will Gracey really help Fabs? With Gracey's track record I highly doubt it. I'm thinking she is going to throw Fabs under the bus, same as she did to Monse and Dimi, not a spoiler, just going on Gracey's track record.

Thanks so very much for this awesome recap Urban : )

Thanks for recap. Boy, I stayed up waiting for it to post because I don't know what happened to my dvr, the tn before went for 2 hours so I only got to see the beginning of my fave novella. I missed so much, I sure wish I could watch that part where G is with Ben and he is being so cruel. It looks like G is sooo hurt to the point of breaking down. Dont get me wrong, I don't feel sorry for her, just saying. Anyway, now I can go to sleep that the recap has posted and I know what happened tonight. thanks for the pictures and vivid imagery, you are gifted!!

Leticia from S.A. Tx

This episode was so entertaining,i likes how Ale and Jl united against Peddy, even if its for just a few minutes ! Benny was some SOB but he is right,Gracie is not meant to be a mother and never will be.I loved the EZ and Peddy scene the most though ,especcialy EZ's hot troll like smile absorbing all of Peddys insults.Peddy and EZ both knew what was going on and they both acted like they are unaware of anything! I also liked how Admiral Robledo humiliated Peddy.

Oh and do we have any funny names for JL's guard yet? I believe we should call him Doggy,Mr.Nosey ,has he even spoken a word yet? Did Isadora got his tongue? He is so useful that im starting to believe that Farturo De La Riva is his sponsor..

And im hating to what they are doing to Adolfo ,all this guilt he has to bear,i got the impression that he is beginning to distancing himself from everyone which could be quite dangereous.I hope that Dimitrio wont have to end up killing him and that Addie ends up dying an honorable death or that he admits his sins and pays for them and then ends up with Virginia if she comes back i kinda miss her. And he certaintly does feel like a cockroach!

Urban A,
Thanks for the recap. It was awesome. And the screen caps just added so much more to well written recap.

I think the scene at the wake where Dimi goes to Rosario for motherly support was powerful. It sent a message to Gracie. Dimi and Montse have Rosario, they don't need or want Gracie. So I guess now Gracie's going to help Fabby but only if she stops drinking.

I could have felt sorry for Gracie after watching those flashbacks with Benny. But nah, she still did and is doing horrific things. In those flashbacks you realize how much Gracie loves money. She put up with alot of crap from Benny. And she did it all for the money. The question is, what did she spend all that money on that Benny would pay her. It was not on cloths. Plus we know she waisted away Don Lauro's money. Maybe she had too many drivers and servants.

Madelaine,
ITA, JL and Ale seemed to be teaming up against Peddy. It was great to see that. They were directing all their anger toward Peddy which was awesome. And Peddy needs to rot in hell after his comment about women.
His anvil needs to happen soon.

On a side note, in my area the TN started about 43 minutes late. Did this happen everywhere?

Off to bed...hasta pronto!

This episode was challenging and powerful. The image of her children seeking maternal comfort from another woman is doing a real number on Graciela.

It will not make her any better as a mother. Benjamin was spot on, although I certainly think his cruelty was over the top. She was humiliated at the funeral, but showing up in a red dress was already enough for that to happen. Imagine the gossip about that in a small town when an admiral's widow shows up at the military funeral of her son's fiancee? Dirt for days, if not weeks.

I deleted two comments that contained spoilers. This is a reminder to newbies that this blog is a Spoiler-Free Zone. You may know what will happen in the next dozen episodes, but posting that information is strictly forbidden here.

Though Gracie deserves it perfectly, you dont know how much hate can her actions inspire if it happened in real life, even then Gracie put Monse on sale should have been enough or the fact that Gracie lied to her husband and her children for like 20 years about her affair with Benny. That Rosario,at first a complete stranger became a better mother figure then their own biological mother should really be a reality shock for Gracie. Oh and it doesnt matter if Gracie lost her child back in the past,it doesnt justify you to do terrible things in the future, everyone has some kind of shitty past they just want to forget about, never to be heard from it again. Pedro ,despite losing his testicles could easily have adopted and have a happy life with Nadia,be a great governor but he gave himself to the darkness and became the despicable "man" he is today.

Yeah,Urban i was warning him to delete the comment too but since you deleted it ,its fine now, thanks for assistance!

The telenovela writers seem to love stealing scenes from American movies, so I assume putting Graciela in red was a recall of that Scarlett O'Hara scene where Clark Gable makes her wear red (like the hussy she is) to the supposed prayer meeting the good ladies are holding, while the men go after the thugs that assaulted Scarlet.

Of course Red is also the color of the Resurrection, but I doubt that was the intent of the color.

Many thanks Urban. You are a great storyteller, and while I didn't see this, I DID SEE it this morning, enjoying your fine recap.

I would have to watch it though to know whether or not I feel compassion for Graciela. We know she is haunted by the memory of her poverty. As a child she saw Amelia and the carefree, fortunate life she had, and was consumed with bitterness and envy. And determination to somehow achieve becoming rich as well. She equated money with happiness. And yet happiness has always eluded her. I see her more as a tragic figure than a villain.

But, as Carlos always says, opinions may vary.

Aunty Ann, the soccer game with Germany and Algeria went much longer than normal which threw everything off. But what they had to show that moronic Casa de la Risa is beyond me. Why not can that, go straight to the news and then the telenovelas. But hey, I'm not in charge of programming at Univision.

JudyB, Scarlett's red dress was worn to Ashley's birthday party. That was long after the Klan raid in which Frank Kennedy died. There was nothing wrong with her wearing the red dress unless it would be considered rude to flaunt wealth because it was the latest fashion.

Graciela may be haunted by her childhood poverty, but that doesn't excuse anything she has done to her children or the people they chose to love. I won't list her crimes again until I post the Karmageddon discussion in a couple of weeks. But this latest rejection was long overdue.

Ay yi yi...Guess I should always preface my remarks with "If memory serves..."!

I am still wondering where all the money Gracie got over the years went. Benjamin's lawyer stated that he was more than generous to Fabiola over the years he supported her. I can't see that he gave Graciela much less when you add it all up.

We have never seen Gracie spend any real money; we've only ever hear her complain about not having enough.

I guess that there never would be enough even if she had bagged Bill Gates.

Urban, possibly on jewelry, clothes, the family bills( If Lauro wasnt already paying them). She must also possibly have been paying Juvie off to keep his secret and as a reward for poisoning Benny. And about bagging Bill Gates it wouldnt work at all,he would start getting heartaches too ,after some time, what can be worse when you see your wife slacking off with an another man and you cant even pay the mortage,oh the horrors!

UA, thank you for your excellent recap and marvelous screen shots. You continually bring the events back in focus with extraordinary comments and observations.

"He felt like a cockroach in a Raid commercial" and "He had no idea how ridiculous he was in the presence of two men far more manly than he ever had been" were among my favorites.

When Adolfo hugged Dimitrio, his grief and guilt overwhelming and destroying him, I started crying. He is the most tragic figure I believe, although but one of many. One could easily argue a case for Maria, Fabiola and others. However, Adolfo is the one whose heart has been twisted and savaged, caught in a trap, committing murder and sadly, past the point of redemption.

The flashbacks with Benjamen were skin crawling.

I must be honest and say that Graciela did earn my pity last night. She is infused with selfishness, greed and yet, in a manner peculiar only to her, does love her children but in a tragic, twisted way. I kept wondering if it was the character or Daniela Castro's ferocious tears that touched me. Perhaps both? Yet, her children's rejection was well overdue.

It appears Graciela will help Fabiola but I think it is due to Graciela's guilt, and less (if anything) to do with Monse and Dim's rejection of her. She was clearly in agony over the choice.

Did Amelia warn Fina she was bringing Nadia and Victoria beforehand? I got the impression Fina covered quickly when confronted by Pedro, but that she did not know of the plan. It appears that this particular outing will cost Nadia dearly.

The one bright moment was Ale and JL united against Pedro, a brief glimpse into what might have been a powerful alignment and a true friendship had circumstances been different.

UA, you asked us for our favorite novelas this past weekend. I just could not include this as I find this to be one of (if not the most) depressing TNs I've ever watched. I stay now only for the recapers and bloggers (who are all wonderful). I'm way too invested emotionally in this. Perhaps it means the writers are doing their jobs??

Blue Lass, how nice you and Rosemary la Otra got together. I am sure you had a marvelous time.

Great comments all.

Thanks again UA.

Diana

Thanks so much, Urban. Excellent recap.

I was glad to see Ale and JL present a united front against their common enemy. It was especially good to see after that stupid display of jealousy in the most inappropriate place. I am so sick of that stupid triangle and wish the writers would put it permanently to rest to concentrate on all the other storylines. I feel they did a much better job of that last night. Adolfo and Gracie struggling with their demons made for good drama.

Blue Lass and Rosemary la Otra- I love the pic, chicas! It looks like you are having a lot of fun there in Vegas.

This was the perfect episode for a UA recap. UA, you certainly gave us a spellbinding retelling of last night's events. And what an episode. So glad I kept checking for it.

For all his bravado, I think Pedro was one nervous little puppy. That "smile" was more and more forced with every confrontation. Nice touch having Ale and MadDog join forces for a few minutes, but sorry, MD's threats to Monse are disgusting. With every step to do something good, that mouth of his spewing his threats to her just puts him back to the scum pond to me.

EZ is being a little too sure of himself. I like the Captain watching him so carefully. Though I think a lot of his disdain is knowing what EZ is and seeing him with sweet Carlotta.

As for Gracie. Wow! That move by Dim was THE most telling of anything her children have ever said or done to her. Actions do speak louder than words sometimes. A mother who cares? Who has let him talk and HUGGED him as a mother should...yes, he has one, but it's Rosario. Both he and Monse had the good fortune to be with someone who showed what a mother's unconditional love is, not the kind they've had with the strings attached.

What Benjamin (my lord what a cretin!) told Gracie apparently was not only spot on, but even watching a woman, married to a good man, sit there and take that crap coming from his mouth showed what she was willing to do all for the sake of money.

UA, love your point on the red dress and the gossip it would cause. For someone who has always been about "what will people say" with her kids, she consistently pulls antics that make her the laughing stock, but I honestly think she believes it is to get the attention and show how above everyone she really is. And that made me realize something....She doesn't have a clue. To her, it's everyone else's fault when things go wrong, and they just don't understand HER. I swear, Maria has to be her daughter. And if I were Fabs, I would run very far away. Gracie may very well take her down right along with her come-uppance.

Kudo's to Ferdinando--Portraying Adolfo,he manages to take this cold-blooded murderer and consistently make us see his torment and start to feel sympathy. I can see him now pushed to do something to try and "redeem" himself, and I don't think he feels his life is worth anything anymore.

Thanks writers for not pushing some sort of Fina/Dim moment. Let them start back as friends if they are meant for end game.

Victor/Nadia sweet, but still breaks my heart to listen to the kids talking about their messed up lives.

Daisynjay

Great recap, Urban! I always appreciate and enjoy the screen caps too! My favorite line today? "He felt like a cockroach in a Raid commercial". It brings up a fabulous mental image! Raid?!?!?!?!!

I suspected it before, but now I am more sure than ever that Graciela is moving toward a redemption so that there can be a happy mother/daughter/s ending. She's nowhere near as bad as Bernarda de Iturbide in Triunfo del Amor. This is not a spoiler, just my prediction as we get close to the end. I am afraid that Adolfo will die both heroically and tragically since he is a killer and especially since he killed Monica. It's pretty much novela law!

Dimitrio is so gutted over losing Monica, I wonder if he could end up with Fina, which I assumed would happen at the end. Every now and then you get an unexpected surprise in a novela, like in TDA where Victoria did NOT reconcile with her husband and ended up with her doctor.

Dimitrio is renting JL's place, the one where he lived with Angelica. I'm wondering whether it's cursed and shouldn't be exorcised.

It occurred to me last night that Dimitrio has never really lived alone. That may not be the norm in Mexico for most young adults, but he's 37 years old now. He's never lived alone as a single man and this will be hard for him to face. He needs either to move back in with Monse or move into base housing for a while.

There is no doubt that Adolfo will fall hard. That will be tough on Josefina, but Dimitrio should be there to catch her.

Adolfo is a unique sort of villain, more like a protagonist in Greek tragedy. This actor is really delivering that; he's made Adolfo into a lost little boy who could have benefitted from some tough love and serious guidance when he was younger. He deserves an award for this one.

I have no doubt that Daniela Castro will win Best Villana. Not so sure about Sergio Sendel. I wish I knew what the Mexican audience is saying about his performance and his character; I know that many men probably are not comfortable with the idea of him losing the combo plate.

I think Sergio Sendel will win the Best Villian award but i guess he will have to compete with Hector Suarez Gomez who played our lovely despicable Fevier. Both are very cunning, brilliant ,abusing ,narcistic. I dont know for who to root for lol, both of the actors gave wonderful performances. But Sergio Sendel will probably win just because the ratings of Robo are way higher then the ratings of Por Simpre Mi Amor.

Urban, I read your recap first and then saw the TN.

What can I say, but that you told a far, far better story! Your writing is beautiful, Urban. This noir style is YOU. The still shots were perfect, but I so loved your writing, I had to read it twice!

Clearly, the most powerful scene was Dimitrio going to Rosario for comfort. Even the quiet, but dismissive way Montserrat told her mother to leave was powerful.

Graciela might be down, but she is not down for the count. Sadly, I felt nothing for her; nothing. The horrid Benjamin was perfect in his description of her. Perfect.

Fatima

Both roles*

COMBO PLATE!! I love it, Urban!! I just love it!!!

Fatima

I have to wonder what Graciela's parents were like. I'm willing to bet that her mother worked her butt off in order to pay the bills. Maybe Graciela was born out of wedlock and her contempt for Alejandro is displaced anger against her own mother as well as Benjamin.

While Alfredo Aldame gave a beautifully nasty performance last night I have to wonder whether they shouldn't have had Ignacio Casano, who played Benjamin in the flashback to Rosario's rape. Gracie looked young enough in the flashback last night that he might have been a more logical choice. However, I think there was a writing error in her line about "my children's school" because there is a 9-year age difference between Dimitrio and Monse.

Fatima, always happy to amuse!

Urban ,Amelia said that Gracies mom,Juana was a custorera and that she never knew her father, maybe her lacking a father further contributed into her downfall,Gracie probably never respected her mother as well.

OK, so I'll bet now that her father was some spoiled rich boy who took advantage of Juana. Makes perfect sense that Gracie would get her jollies fleecing rich men.

Thanks for this excellent recap, UA. Once again very entertaining, very well done, very detailed and the pictures are perfect.

"Be very careful what you do or you leave me no choice but to force me to take action against Monserrat. Excuse me.” [If someone can translate that better, I owe you.]"

Actually, here Pedro made no threat against Montserrat, but said:

"I'll leave you to exchange experiences about Montserrat."

Which I thought was a pretty effective zinger at them both which set JL off, but Alejandro restrained him with that hand to the chest.

Dimitrio looking to Rosario for motherly consolation indeed seemed very sweet, but didn't ring true. Has there every been any affection between those two that might have set a predicate for that? I interpreted it as a rather vicious slap at Graciela rather than any seeking of solace.

And why the pussyfooting around by Macario over Gracie having the will... just come out and say that she told me that she has it.

I'm amused by the sympathy here for poor pitiful Adolfo, and yet utter disdain for María. He just killed Monica and shows blatant hypocrisy at the wake. She killed a rat and has no remorse.

Carlos

Carlos- Actually, before the time jump (I believe after Fina left him) Dim and Rosario had at least one heart to heart talk that we saw. And we know that he has been living with her and Monse the last seven years, so it's very likely they have grown close like family. In fact, Rosario has spent more time with Monse and Dim in the mother role, than she has spent with her son Ale.

Carlos, she killed Sandho without remorse and good riddance to him. However, she tried to kill Monserrat three times. I am betting she will try again and when she does I want Monse to kick her to the next coast with cleats on her shoes.

Adolfo had a choice about going to the wake. He chose not to arouse suspicion. He risked breaking down in front of Dimitrio and Josefina. He is going to pay for this, no question. He got lucky that neither Pedro nor Ezekiel went after him at the funeral, but they wouldn't risk that sort of confrontation anywhere near Admiral Robledo. I'm surprised that those two even talked their dirty business in that building.

That was a missed opportunity for either Alejandro or Mad Dog Alvarez to eavesdrop.

I'm not sure if you pointed it out in the recap, but Dim made special note of Pedro's scorpion pendant at the wake. I think he suspects Pedro is the Scorpion and is the one who killed Monica. There was so much focus on that necklace last night that I'm pretty sure that's the conclusion a lot of people are going to jump to.

Comparing Adolfo and Maria is a joke,Maria has no self restraint, she is all about revenge, she has shown no compassion when she tried to kill Monse three times and once tried to kidnap her baby. Adolfo is a criminal too but he deep within has a remorseful soul ,after Nadia and Fina dissapeared ever since he has been desolate, lonely,he had no will to live,he didnt become the criminal because he wants to ,he doesnt enjoy being the Alacran ,if he did he would right now be laughing, drinking beer not crying, trying to isolate himself from everybody. What did Maria did when she killed Sandro in cold blood? She was cooling off in her apartment, thats what!

Thanks so much for the recap!!!

First off, thank G-d Ale was able to find a black t-shirt two sizes too small to wear to the funeral on such short notice.

Adolfo, the baby faced killer...why do I still feel for you?

And why did I have no sympathy for Graciela when she was crying at the end?

Question, are the writers rewriting Gracie's history or did I just misunderstand: I thought Gracie believed that Ben Almonte didn't know of her pregnancy. We know Lauro didn't know but I thought she had kept if from Ben too. Also, weren't we lead to believe at first that Gracie killed the baby and then that Gracie didn't kill it but was happy the baby was dead anyway because it would upset her marriage to Lauro?

Carvivilie-

When the baby died, Gracie led the Padre to believe that she killed the baby (without really coming out and saying it), but it seems that she did that just to get his goat, since she seems to hate the Padre. In reality, the baby died on her own, or really just appeared dead, which was a relief to Gracie since it freed her up to marry Lauro with no secret love child hanging out there and being a possible threat to her marriage.

From the flashback last night, it seems that at some point after she and Benjamin went back to being lovers, she revealed that she had a baby by him and the baby died. Which he secretly knew not to be true. His cruel words in retrospect seem even crueler, now that she knows he knew their child was alive all along.

Thanks Vivi! Must admit I am having a hard time believing Gracie had any remorse over the death of that child. The only child she ever seemed to need was Dim. Maybe his rebukes have finally pushed her over the edge. I mean it was just a little while ago she was selling Montse again. I guess it is time for her redemption.

Funny, she says she has to pick either Fabiola or Montse but I don't see it that way. Fabiola can get out of the fake will scheme pretty easily as she kinda knew about it but it was all Sandro and Pedro. Further, if Ale gets back the money and gives his half to Gracie like he promised, she could give that half to Fabiola. Now Gracie giving up money would be the ultimate sacrifice for her!

Thank you very much for all the care that went into this well-written and lavishly illustrated recap.

Like you, I was at first taken aback by Alfredo Adame playing Ben when he was supposed to be a much younger man, and I wondered why they hadn't used the younger actor seen in the Rosario flash-backs. But from where I sat on the Patio, I just had to squint a bit and it all seemed to make sense. And the thing that struck me most was what an absolutely vile sadist Benjamin Almonte actually was. HE NEEDED KILLING! I am ready to give Graciela a pass on that one. I'm also ready to consider that, beyond greed, Graciela was tied to Benjamin by a sort of OBSESSIVE LOVE.

How interesting to compare that boudoir scene with one we saw earlier (also a flashback) between Lauro and Graciela. In that one we saw how poor Lauro was always besotted with Graciela, even if he sometimes saw through her lies (Remember he said that he had always known she didn't really go to Italy before they were married.)

Poor Monica. The vigil for her at the funeral home was the centerpiece of the episode, but she was hardly mentioned and featured in no tearful flashbacks. Her suegra came dressed as if ready to dance on her grave. Her murderer and his accomplices wore black and spouted empty words of condolences. Jose Luis showed up looking like a gangster and then proceeded to act like one, muttering death threats to his wife.

It was frustrating that Friday's episode ended with a cliff-hanger (Would the judge release Maria?) and this one started in the same place, but by the end of it, we still didn't know the decision.

Hey R la O and Blue Lass, it sounds like you're having a blast! Love the photo!

NovelaMaven, Maybe the reason Alfredo Adama played Benny in his flashback is because he was referring to past events which means that the affair took place much longer then we thought, beginning after the marriage and continuing even after Benny grew much much older. Her loss of her child must have occured when Benny was his younger self.

Loved the recap, Urban. Great screen caps. Very grateful for it; have only Spanish CCs where I am this week, I managed to squeeze out most of the meaning but really needed the clarification on some of it.
I think my favorite statement was your description of Gracie wanting to see Dim. "Move over, Carlota. I want to be with my baby. Move it."
And there it is; a bit of early Karmageddon for Gracie.
I can't feel sorry for her other than I guess she is was she is, a relentless narcissist, and may not be able to change at all. You can see she is working herself up to justifying betraying Monse for Fab. If she tells Fab that she is her mother Fab may get the idea to exploit her for it, the apple not falling far from the tree and all.

also loved:
He felt like a cockroach in a Raid commercial.

Urban, thanks for the wonderful recap. The delay of the show caused me to miss a good bit of the episode as I fell asleep towards the end. I thought I had not missed much but I did!! I am so irked that missed Gracie's flashbacks.

I wish there was a way to "like" people's comments. There are always really good comments that I would want to respond to but don't have the time.

I moaned when I saw Gracie in the red drapes at the funeral (the dress looked like drapes to me). What was she thinking? Ugh! How could she have thought Dimitrio would take her seriously with THAT on?

I chuckle every time Gracie takes a wine glass out of Fab's hand. Last night was especially good since she threw the glass across the room. I wonder how long Fab can hold out without a glass of vino.

*Sigh* Adolfo.... The character has really grown on me (the actor isn't hard on the eyes either so maybe that's why I have a soft spot). I am really going to hate whatever the tragic end may be that is in store for him. I agree with others that his end will probably come doing something good (at least I hope so).

Caryn

When the truth comes out about Adolfo being the Scorpion and that he killed Monica, and if Fina and Dim are present, that will be a gut wrenching scene. The three of them will be an emotional mess of anger, rage, disappointment, disgust, and grief. It won’t be pretty, that’s for sure.

Vivi, you are so right about that. Ugh! I don't look forward to that at all!

Caryn

Dim has opened his heart twice and each time when he has finally expressed his love to the person, almost immediately the person leaves him, by choice or death. If I was him, I would probably be erecting walls around myself.

Vici thats what im fearing ,Dim might be so angry he could end up killing Adolfo, hopefully Fina will be able to stop his fury at that time because i wouldnt like to see Dim behind bars:(

Urban, you have outdone yourself once again. The writing was stellar and the screen caps were great!

I ended up turning on the tv at 9:30 to watch what was recording and thought there was something wrong because the other novela was still on. Good think I stuck around and realized that LQLVMR started at 9:45 and I was able to watch the whole thing.

The acting is beyond great, I keep getting drawn in every night. I agree totally with you Daisynjay: "Kudo's to Ferdinando--Portraying Adolfo,he manages to take this cold-blooded murderer and consistently make us see his torment and start to feel sympathy. " I felt like crying when he arrived at the funeral home and hugged Demetrio.

Carlos, I think the sympathy is stronger for Adolfo because unlike Maria, he shows remorse for killing Monica. This is not the life he wanted to live, it was forced on him by Pedro. Urban's description of Adolfo is spot on:
"Adolfo is a unique sort of villain, more like a protagonist in Greek tragedy. This actor is really delivering that; he's made Adolfo into a lost little boy who could have benefitted from some tough love and serious guidance when he was younger. He deserves an award for this one."

Daniela Castro really brought on the waterworks last night as well. I couldn't help but feel a little bit sorry for her, not that she didn't earn her children's rejection, but just seeing the way Ben treated her was despicable. How can any amount of money make her stay with him, unless it was some sort of obsessive love? At that point she had Lauro and his fortune, and it wasn't until the later years that there were signs of financial problems.

As for her red dress, not to defend her choice in apparral, but wasn't that the dress she was wearing during her prayer vigil?

To quote Judyb, "if memory serves me right" I think it was, and when Carlotta came into the chapel, already dressed in black, she told her Demetrio really needed her at that moment because Monica had died. Despite her kids' rejections, she still wants to be there for them and wants them to need her, so most likely she took off straight for the funeral home without thinking to change.

Maricruz

Ha! Captain Robledo telling Pedro that Monica had more balls than he did was great!

Eli, Cpt. Robledo was awesome, wasn't he? I hope things start piling up against Pedro and he starts feeling the heat soon. Can't stand how he feels entitled to mistreat Nadia, and all women. Felt like smacking him when he was yelling at Fina, no less at the funeral home!

Maricruz

I wish Peddy would rot in hell, hopefully they will send him into the jail before he begins wrecking havoc on Adolfo and EZ. I bet i know why Peddy has no family,he is Peddy Kreuger, the brother of Freddy Kreuger a being from Hell but unfortunatly born without balls, hopefully im not insulting the great Freddy Kreuger with his disgraceful brother! Check the babality of Freddy Kreuger the bear lying in the moving chair was Peddy! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg3_DKvCPZY

Here is a better clip : http://youtu.be/9LJqlQfO3VM

Sadly he lacks a smoke but he gets one when he gets older:)

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you are recording tonight's epi, you may need to record extra time. The game between Argentina & Switzerland went over by about 45 minutes and Univision was not cutting any of the programming. I might be wrong but I think shows might be starting late tonight.

I love the Admiral and I hope Carlota gets him at the end when EZ falls. She would be the perfect wife for him.

Vivi, I dearly hope that Dimitrio doesn't end up having to kill Adolfo in the line of duty. That would destroy him and he's taken enough punishment for his earlier sins already. Hell, having Graciela for a mother is more than enough punishment for anyone.

Emarie, Graciela is a narcissist. They are particularly lethal to have in one's life because they have no empathy and no remorse. They rarely seek psychiatric treatment because they can't be convinced that anything is wrong with them.

Graciela certainly deserves scorn and rejection by her kids but Rosario certainly is no June Cleaver. She tells tall tales at the drop of a hat when it suits her interests.

Plus, I hate group hugs in film; they are so trite.

At the end, with Graciela self-loathing and sobbing in agony, I noticed that huge ring on her right hand with that prominent, flat, black stone. I thought that she was going to spring open a compartment on that ring, take out a pill and end it right there.

Oxnard:
"At the end, with Graciela self-loathing and sobbing in agony, I noticed that huge ring on her right hand with that prominent, flat, black stone. I thought that she was going to spring open a compartment on that ring, take out a pill and end it right there."---LOL!

AuntyAnn, thanks for the heads up on the time!

Urban - Fantastic noir recap. Muchísimas gracias.

Graciela was tied to Benjamin by a sort of OBSESSIVE LOVE.

NovelaMaven, ITA with your theory. But I'm thinking it was more obsessive sex than love. Benjamin was too in-your-face cruel for Graciela to put up with him after she had Lauro's money and prestige. She didn't seem thrilled about sex with Sandro, and a while back confessed to Monse that she cheated all those years cause Lauro was so much older.

Now I see why Graciela is so cruel to others. She's giving it to others the way that Benjamin gave it to her.

I felt he purposely went to hug Rosario as a deliberate insult to Graciela. Okay, Graciela deserves it, but it makes Dim look like a boy. I like Rosario, but to me Carlota is much more hugable and she practically raised him and Monse.

That's "I felt Dim purposely went to hug Rosario..."

Oh I just love this blog and all the different comments. How great it is to read all the different views and opinions since this is such a different king of novela with all the problematic characters at the same time.

And what can I say about the recappers, except my great appreciation for all their hard work and dedication and their "on the spot" recaps. What a wonderful job!

PS: For all who are recording, you should set your device to record at one - if not two - hours later during the World Cup, as Univ never changes or shortens its programming. For instance, right now US vs Belgium is in overtime, so beware tonight's episode probably won't start at 9 pm
