Hasta El Fin del Mundo #19: 9/11/14: Pato's Mis Planes Continue and Lucas is One Lucky Boy!
Hola Amiguis. Due to a snafu, there was no recap for Wednesday, so I am going to briefly go over important points from that capitulo and then continue on with Thursday's recap. Here's the earworm.Aint No Sunshine.
Shall we begin?
Wednesday:
The producer of that Chica Ripoll campaign likes Armie. She wants to know if he has ever modeled, would he like to model, he is flattered but won't. He's married.
The school principal calls the Ripoll House and the maid gives the phone to Greta, who promptly blows a gasket. Dani is not in school, skipped school. Greta yells for Fausto. Seems Chava dropped Dani off, watched her go into the school and then left. So now this is Fausto's fault. He and his freewheeling method of dealing with the girls, but especially Dani. Poor Fausto looks so bereft. Greta calls Dani's cell phone and leaves a voice mail that says come home now or else. Poor Dani is outside the police station crying. When Dani gets home, Greta chews her out and she's grounded and no cell phone or computer. She is confined to her room to study. Dani has just lost all her teen lifelines.
Chava goes to the police station and pays Lucas a visit. Chava pulls out the medallion. Lucas tells him it's his. Seems that his Papa won this medal for boxing. Lucas never knew his Papa, and this is all he has. Chava says how alike they are in many ways. Chava goes to visit the Commandante and finds out that all Lucas needs to be released from the hoosegow is for Sofia to drop the charges. Chava will pass it on to Sofia.
Sofia is going over the Ripoll campaign pictures with Alexa, Pato, and Silvana. Everyone likes them but Sofia, she feels they are a bit riskee so to speak. Now on to Thursday:
Sofia isn't liking these pics.
Sofia, Pato, Silvana and Alexa are still talking about the Ripoll campaign pictures. They tell Sofia this isn't back in the day. This is new and going to an International Audience. The Chica Ripoll is all grown up and eating those decadant new chocolate, well you get the drift.
Meanwhile Chava and Armie are having a chat about Irma and Alexa. Chava thinks that Alexa is jealous. Chava thinks that Alexa is a bit in love with Armie. Here comes Alexa and she wants to know what they are saying about her. Oh, nothing. Alexa asks Armie what that Producer of the pictures asked him about the modeling. Armie tells Alexa that she wanted him to model but he told her he's a married man. Alexa is jealous and now it's time to go home.
Paco is at Cuco's again, and sees Lupe dancing with Cuco. Paco is way jealous and goes. Cuco runs after him but to no avail. Lupe grabs Cuco to continue the dance.
Sofia is having another flash back to her and Chava from the night before.
Poor Mattias' Hero is gone. Let's give him a big ole hug.
Poor Mattias. He needs a group hug from the Patio. He is crying and Marisol is trying to console him. We get to know some of his past. Seems his Mama threw him out when he was kid. Lupe found him and took care of him. Now he is again without a home. Marisol says the difference now is that he makes enough money to afford a place of his own. I think he said he lived in a boarding house but that is gone. He doesn't want to live alone in some hotel room or his own place, what he really wants is to live with people where he feels he is part of a family. Poor Mattias. He has no familia, no home, no nada. The Maestro was his hero. Marisol will talk to Lupe about Mattias' situation. Mattias is calmer now and says he loves Marisol like a sister.
Greta and Dani and Greta marches up to Dani's room and promptly confiscates her teen lifelines, her cell phone and her computer. Greta feels she needs disipline and stucture and Greta goes and Dani says all the things a teen says when they are grounded, I hate you!
Chava goes to Sofia's office. Is Sofia upset because he talked to Cece earlier. No, he can talk to his girl. Chava tells her that Cece isn't his girl. He hasn't got a girl, hint, hint, wink, nudge. And Chava will never tell anything Sofia tells him. Chava says he needs to talk to Sofia on an important matter.
Alexa comes home with Armie. Armie is about to go, but Greta asks how it went, the photo shoot. It went fine and he tells Greta that he told Alexa what his job is, ya know driving her. Greta understands why he did this, the jealous wife well not that, but she gets it. But Armie will still help Alexa out when needed.
Chava tells Sofia about the convo he had with the Commandante about Sofia dropping the charges and then Lucas will be set free. Pato is listening to them talk. I don't know if he heard what was said. Sofia says she'll do it, but only to help poor Miguelita, and she also says she won't tell Greta about the thief being Miguelita's grandson. Chava told her that Lucas is Miguelita's grandson. Chava goes and Pato swoops in for some smoochies. Sofia reminds him they are at work and and no PDA (Public Displays of Affection). She moves out of his arms. Pato goes.
Dani comes downstairs and yells for Fausto. She accuses him of being a gossip. Fausto tells her he is innocent but to no avail. He is dead to Dani in other words. Fausto betrayed her and she'll never trust him again.
Poor Fausto Can't Win For Losing. Greta ought to appreciate this fine man, jus' sayin!
Chava and Sofia go to the police station.
Dani is down in the kitchen talking to Miguelita. Greta comes in and wants to know what Dani is doing out of her room. Dani only went to get some juice. Dani is banished to her room. Greta has a talk with Miguelita. She's a great cook and all.
Seems not only will Lucas be released, but he can't stay home. He needs to be working. Sofia will talk to Silvana about giving Lucas a job. Chava won't give Sofia a hug, even though he wants to Fausto hears this as well.
The Commandante has a chat with Lucas. He is free to go, but what a lucky guy he is. Not only did Sofia drop the charges, but is giving him a job at her Factory. Lucas promises to be good, but the Commandante warns him that the police keep records on misdeeds to straighten out and fly right. The commandante still doesn't trust Lucas, he feels Lucas is a fraudster.
Marisol goes home and she is clearly still mad at Lupe, about the whole Javier Cruz, her Papa, never asking about Marisol. Lupe made Marisol's favorite dinner. Marisol could care less. I wish Lupe had taken Marisol to that place so she could have seen for heself how Javier could care less.
Mob guy runs into Lucas. He can't believe he is out without snitching. The guy followed Miguelita from the Police Station. Lucas gets really ticked off and decks the guy and tells him to stay away from his Granny and he quits. Lucas goes off.
Alan calls Alexa for another demand for money. Alexa tells him she got a job but hasn't been paid yet. She hangs up on him. Later, Alexa shows Greta the pictures from the campaign. She tells Greta that everyone, meaning Pato and Silvana love them, but Sofia not so much. Alexa says she will need her Mama's support. Oh, she's got that no worries.
Chava, and Armie are playing pool at Cuco's. Armie is complaining he has no passion for this chofer's job. Paco comes and complains Cuco's has gone downhill, it isn't the same as it was before. Ya know the dancing. Chava tells Armie he brought Sofia to eat here the other night. Chava ask why Paco won't talk to Sofia. Paco tells them about Renzi coming by to try and get him to sell the Tendra. He says Renzi offered him a boatload of money, but he isn't selling. Paco wants coffee and when Cuco brings it he complains it's cold. Paco not only mad about that but for Cuco dancing with Lupe. Armie says he's got to get home he's late and goes.
Pato and Silvana are talking about how this Mangus District thing is going. Well so far so good, exept there is a hold out that won't sell. But Pato is working on it.
Sofia sees that Fausto is very sad and asks what is wrong. He tells her about Dani and now Dani is mad at him. Sofia tells him that Dani reacted to Fausto "betraying" her as a Papa.
Irma is watching TV, grabs her makeup stuff and goes, saying she is not going to be a poor dog forever.
Lucas goes home and gives Miguelita a huge hug. She is so very happy he is out of jail. He promises he'll do right now. Miguelita says that St Jude (The Patron Saint of Lost Causes) heard her prayers.
Sofia comes up to see Dani. She promises Dani she isn'there to lecture her. She tells Dani, being the head of Ripoll is alot of responsiblity, but if Dani ever needs a chat, or just to talk in general come see her, she'll always be there for her.
Cece comes to see Chava at Cuco's. Cuco likes her. Chava tells Cece about the Sofia and her shoes adventure. Cece thinks that Chava has it bad for Sofia. She asks if it is serious. He tells Cece they are just friends. Cece wishes the Matador, much luck. There was a mention of a woman named Aracely that Chava had been going with, but she know lives in Monterrey with her boyfriend.
AVANCES:
Pato and the Ripoll women and Sofia says its time for the Engagment party and Greta must have eaten a sour lemon!

Thanks Mads! Haven't watched Thurs yet but did I see Wednesday night.
- I'm glad Chava will help Lucas -- for Miguelina's sake.
- I didn't like the adverstiment pics either. Too sensual. It would help if the model would keep his shirt on. I don't want to his semi hairy chest especially in HD. I loved when Armando referred to him as a "Prince of Steroids". Was he a little jealous like Alexa was of him talking to the producer?
- I'm not really ineterested in the whole Lupe dancing thing. We could do without that I think. Plus, I can't stand that tango music.
- Ok, so Daniela is 17 and Lucas is 20. I'm glad we have been told this. Poor Daniela. What will she do without her phone and the internet? :(

Madelaine, thanks for your wonderful recaps and screen caps. Perfect earworm. I am just liking this novela more and more!
As I previously said somewhere sometime, I think Armando's admission of getting out of line with Alexa makes Irma seem less crazy and I then wonder if he has wandered in the past.
Paco is way out of line with his jealousy on repeated display at Cuco's. Lupe needs to tell him to put up or shut up. He is like a big kid on an endless tantrum.
Poor Chava with the "hug" never to be repeated again. I felt so bad for him.
My favorite scene was between Sofía and Fausto when they were discussing him being a father figure for Dani. Sofía tells him that some times you don't have to label feelings. She gets a jolt when he says yes, just like you and Salvador some moments ago and that he would not venture to try to name the feelings he detected between them. I like that Fausto.

I was more than a bit miffed at Greta. She's a bit of a tyrant. First screaming at Dani, then at Miguelita, then at our fab Fausto, then... when Armie was trying to distance himself from Alexa, telling him whatever Alexa does or wants is A-Okay.
Silvana told Patricio he needs a woman - a typical housewife - to gather information on the people who don't want to sell to the developers. I get the feeling that Irma will be the one filling that job.
I really like this TN and so does my hubby.

The other reason Dani is mad at Fausto is because she thinks he told Greta that she has a boyfriend. Greta was accusing her of skipping school to see a boy. Greta is getting on my nerves too. There are moments when I like her. But many times she can be infuriating. She also has a lot of double standards with her kids. It's ok for Alexa to break all the rules, but Sofia gets flack for obeying all the rules and keeping a roof over their heads. I had to laugh when Greta told Miguelina that she is a tolerant woman and Miguelina can come to her if she needs anything. But she WON'T tolerate little mistakes (descuidos) like the ones Miguelina has been making lately. She contradicted herself in one breath. Poor Miguelina!

Thank you kindly. Greta is on my last nerve too. Why can't she be nicer to Sofia. Poor girl works her butt off, not to mention keeping the roof over their heads. Some people think that their helping when they come between a parent and child. One of my boys was caught shoplifting. The guy thought he was helping by keeping it away from me. It didn't stop my kid, it taught him he could get away with it. He got bold enough to steal in a department store with me in the store. I caught him and well...I've never heard of him stealing since that day. I'm surprised that I wasn't arrested in that store.

Greta picks and chooses which of her two personalities she reveals to others. Miguelita and Sofia are on the receiving end of her harder, edgier side and Alexa is on her (somewhat) softer side. She is being tough on Dani but Dani will survive, I don't think her punishment is unreasonable.
Lucas is indeed very lucky. I hope he doesn't throw away his very good, undeserved good fortune.
Let's get Mattias a good home and a good partner. Pronto.

I also think Dani will be fine with her punishment. I don't even think that's why she's upset. She's upset about Lucas being in jail, not about not having her phone or computer. In fact, when Greta took away the computer, she asked herself out loud how she was going to help Lucas now (because she was looking into finding him a lawyer). And when she was chatting with Miguelina, she was also asking about Lucas. So Dani's reaction is not because she wants to chat with her girlfriends on the phone, or shop for the latest fashions on her computer. And the reason why she skipped school (this time) was not so that she could go shopping at the mall or hang out with a boy. She was just sitting in front of the police station crying about Lucas' situation. That's why I felt for her, although I totally get why Greta is punishing her the way she did. It would have been nice if Greta had taken a few moments out of her yelling to try to find out what's going on with Dani. Alexa seems to be the only daughter who gets her patience and understanding.
Anon @ 3:28 - Agree. One day Greta will have to fess up. I guess she's ashamed and thinks Sofia will think less of her, but she's wrong.
Mads, I could see Irma being duplicitous but Armando has treated the child as his own even if in the long run the child turns out not to be his own. Whatever the case is at home, he needs to take care of business there so he does not end up being snookered in by the manipulative and mentally ill Alexa. She is bad news for any guy except maybe mythical Alan in España. At least she seems to be supporting him.
