Mi Corazon es Tuyo #35 León's secret is revealed, will there be Bodas Interruptus?

We begin where we left off yesterday, Diego is kissing Ana on the cheek with his back turned toward an open door as Fernando walks past and glances in. He pauses, thinks about what he’s seeing, it looks like it could be a kiss on the mouth, but realizes he has to move on, and moves on.

Ana finally pushes him away, happy? no he’d be more happy with (elbow jab, elbow jab) but she tells him he’s going to be late for his trip to... to Paris, he says, the city of love, and then on to Bombay. Now called Mumbai, get it right writers! He tells her he’s going to think about her the whole time he’s gone, then he’s gone. She thinks about that. Is she pleased about that? We can’t tell by her expression.

Jenny is recovering in the hospital and crying on Nico’s shoulder, not literally. She mourns the idea that she will never have a baby. Nico does his best to console her.

As Diego is leaving, he runs into Fer who is surprised he’s leaving, but he does seem to have a smile on his face. Diego tells him he’s going for 2 weeks and tells Bruno to take care of Anita. They leave together.

On the car ride to the airport, Diego takes the opportunity to cajole Fernando into telling him what he’s feeling right now. Fernando wanted to let it go, but finally let’s Diego have it.
I’m mad! I saw you kissing Ana and you’re just doing that to get back at me because I got Fanny and you didn’t.
Not true, you are not in love with Ana.
How do you know?
You told me.
I order you to stay away from Ana.
You’re ordering me.
I love a woman but have to marry another.
You can’t order me to do anything. Driver, pull over, I will take a cab.
Don’t throw a temper tantrum (berrinche) And don’t come back from India.
Oh, I’m coming back all right, for Ana.

The next series of event are what is happening while Diego is out of the country.

-Fernando is at the doctors office with Isabela who is having an ultrasound. Everything looks in order and Isa is happy, Fer not much.

-Nico brings Jen to her home. A welcome back party is waiting for her. Ana and other friend from the cloob, don’t know her name.

-Fanny and Leon are having a ‘fall more in love’ time at some park. There is always icecream at these events.

-Ugh! Isabela and Alicia are having bonding time at a dress store, Alicia is trying on dresses and loving it. They must have gone with Nando and Xi, they are having a fun time picking out ties for him at the mens department.

-Ana gets a text in the middle of the night from Diego. Te extraño. Still the poker face on Ana. She doesn’t respond, and Diego sheds a tear. Aww.

-Ana sees the wedding invitation on Fer’s desk. Fer walks in and catches her there and she makes a hasty retreat. With sadness, he then opens his safe and takes off his wedding band and puts it in there.

-The children are being fitted for suits for the big day.

-Ana dances at Chicago, Jen is back to work but it seems that she’s not feeling well. Too soon I guess.

2 days before the wedding

Alicia is showing off her new dress to Ana and how clear her skin is now. Isabela is bringing her a stylist to make her extra pretty for the wedding. Ana hugs her.

Isa is gathering the younger children in the foyer to discuss how the wedding procession will take place and where everyone will be. Diego arrives just in time to save the kids.

Jen’s cancer is in remission, good news.

Bummer, Jonny is alive. But he has a beard now, that might help him look better for me, but I can’t tell yet, lol. Anyway, Doroteo rolls him over and tells his henchmen that this is what happens to anyone who tries to pull one over on him.  Jonny wakes up and sits up. Ok, the beard isn’t helping. Dor tells him that he will stay here until he pays him the money he owes him, throws a bottle of water and food on the floor and leaves. How is Jonny supposed to pay him while he’s locked in?

Diego comes to see Ana and has a present for her, but he wants a kiss first, of course. She wrestles the gift from him without one and it’s a statue of Shiva, the patron saint of Yoga and Art. It reminded Diego of Ana, his favorite dancer. Another gift, a music box with a ballerina dancing in it.
Diego wants a real date with Ana, but she says she has to get past this maldita wedding she doesn’t want to attend. Just then Luz comes in and says she doesn’t want to either. Ana quickly tries to mend the situation by telling her that she will have fun at it, but Luz says that if Ana isn’t going, she’s not going either.

Jen and Nico are celebrating the good news of her remission. He wants her to come with him to the wedding.
León and Fan are coming back to the mansion, she wants him to come to the wedding, but he doesn’t have a suit. They’ll figure something out.

One day before the wedding

The wedding dress arrives! The delivery guy assumes that Ana is the bride, tells her to try the dress on for last minute alterations.

Boy, was I wrong about León. There’s a knock at the door of his room, a young woman with a very short skirt and a 3 year old boy are there. The boy runs to his arms yelling “Papa”. Then León sees her suitcase. She says they have nowhere else to stay, and after all, they’re married. Yep! Married. Poor Fanny, what a jerk León is for not telling her at the beginning.

Fanny is pleading with Fer to not commit the worst mistake of his life. Isa interrupts their argument and Fanny leaves. Fanny’s life is going to take a major turn.

León gets showered and dressed, and tells Tamara, his WIFE, that he’s sorry about her mother dying. She had no where else to go but León is not happy with this situation. NEITHER ARE WE!  As he leaves, she says she’s sorry that she left with their son. He tells her don’t ever take my child again. This little boy is sooooo cute.

The fairy, UGH! tells Ana to try on the dress. She holds it up to herself and cries.
Isa calls the house to see if the dress has arrived. Bruno knows nothing. The children get home from school and and Luz asks about the dress in the box. Ana ushers her out. Later, she tells the boys about the dress and they start planning something. BBQ lighters seem to be part of the plan.

Isa calls back to the mansion and tells Ana that she knows the dress came and that Ana received it. Isa’s mad that she didn’t tell her that it came. Just then Sebastian tells Ana that the twins have lighters and are planning to so something to the dress. Ana runs up and gets there just in time to stop them. She reads them the riot act about playing with fire, etc, etc, etc. She ends up promising to go to the wedding.

Wedding Day

Fer, dashing in his tux I must say, knocks on Ana’s door and wants to talk. He asks if she realizes why he’s doing this, yes, and Ana would do the same thing in his place. Luz overhears their conversation. But she wants to know one thing before he leaves. Did he ever feel something for her? Did he ever care about her? No he didn’t care about her,  he says, he loved her. They can’t help but...
Do they kiss? We have to wait until Monday to know.

Previews: Isa slaps Ana, Ana arrives late to the wedding, does she try to stop it???

Looking forward to the recap!

I think Ana is doing wrong to Diego. She knows his history and pain. She also knows he likes her. Even if she thinks he is not that serious about her she owes him the truth. She loves his brother. She needs to tell Diego the depth of her feelings for Fer and not just wave him off that it was only a few kisses.

Random thoughts on last-night's capitulo -

Well . . . the telenova timewarp intervened in the drama, forcing me to ignore my internal logical-fallacies detector. Apparently, enough time lapsed for Isabruja to prepare a wedding and win over Alicia, for Jen to recover and receive the all-clear results, and for Johnny to grow a beard and stay alive, subsisting on an occasional chicken leg and bottle of water. Yet why don't Ana and Jen express more concern over Johnny's prolonged disappearance? I know. I know. Just suspend my disbelief . . .

So, Leon has a wife (?) and an ADORABLE son. Your mom was right, Leon; Fanny deserved the truth, especially before turning in her 'V' card to you.

Diego purchased Ana some very thoughtful gifts on his trip to India and Paris. That thoughtfulness speaks volumes to me. Come on, tn writers, change the script, so Ana and Diego marry and live happily ever after!

Finally, thinking about past discussions about Jazzercise, and in lieu of my own fantastic Jazzercise workout this morning, I ask myself this question: if Ana likes to dance in front of people, why doesn't she just offer Jazzercise classes! Maybe she can add a pole component to the workout.

Oops. Re-read my post. I meant "in light of," not "in lieu of."

I need another cup of hot tea . .

That child looks unnaturally cherubic. I wonder if that means anything.

Tamara bothers me, too. She looks older than Leon and her face isn't the type to age well. They better tell us the backstory ASAP.

I agree that Ana needs to be upfront with Diego about her feelings for Fernando. However, I don't think that would stop him.

UA - You're right about Leon's cherubic-looking hijo. His parents have dark hair, and he's blond. Although I'm no genetics expert, do you think we might have parallel instances of mistaken paternity: Leon and Fer?

Equador Bound.

"So, Leon has a wife (?) and an ADORABLE son. Your mom was right, Leon; Fanny deserved the truth, especially before turning in her 'V' card to you."

Couldn't agree more with this. Leon better have some good reason and not; oh, she ran away with my kid. What a slime ball thing to do to Fanny.

Educador Bound, you echoed what I was thinking but phrased it better than I could have: "So, Leon has a wife (?) and an ADORABLE son. Your mom was right, Leon; Fanny deserved the truth, especially before turning in her 'V' card to you".

UA, cherubic indeed. Exceptionally beautiful.

I was lost on the dialog Leon had with his wife. Looking forward to your recap cathy.

The recap is up.

Ecuador Bound-
Maybe Jonny disappears on occasion like this, so that part may not be unusual, but he hasn't called, so that part is odd.

It's nice to hear that you Jazzercise too and it is a very respectable way to dance and have a great body like Ana has.

Thanks so much CathyX. Great recap! I too thought Tamara ("Mrs Leon") looks alot older than Leon. Also that although they both have straight dark hair the little boy has blond curls...hmmmm.

Has there ever been a TN that switched and had the heroine end up with the alternate galan? That would make for more suspense. As it is we always assume the two leads will end up together.

Cathyx - Thank you for the witty recap! I loved 'Bodas Interruptus.' Also, 'fall more in love time' requires ice cream? I'll keep that in mind. :)

Johnny has been such a daily part of Ana's and Jen's lives, it seems one of them would have filed a missing-persons report after a two-week absence with no response to phone calls.

As tempting as it is, we can't go by how anyone looks when trying to figure out who's related to whom. They're all just actors playing a part.
My guess is she cheated on Leon and then left with the guy, taking the child with her.

That boy looks like the guy Fanny almost voh-dee-oh-doh-dohed with earlier on. He also said he was a virgin, but one doesn't have to be a bedroom klutz to be one of those.

J in Oregon, in answer to your question there were two. One was based on a novel and followed the book, the other was probably changed from the original. Neither ending made the audience happy. And since Jorge Salinas was the losing galan in one instance I doubt that Televisa would do that to him again.

Thanks, Cathy! I certainly hope there will be a bodas interruptus! I'm not too hopeful, though. That seems too easy.

LEON. You cowardly lion. Ugh. The cherub is one thing (though you still should have told Fanny about him), but STILL MARRIED?!?! It is NOT okay to romance one woman while you're married to another, especially without telling her about it. Estranged or not.

On the plus side, Fer won't be able to accuse him of slacking on his responsibilities by not marrying the mother of his child? So there's just the lying by major, major, major omission thing.

I don't think Ana needs to tell Diego anything about her relationship with Fer since she's trying to discourage Diego. It isn't her fault that being rebuffed by her just turns him on more. If she were leading him on, that would be another story. But at this point I'd prefer that Ana and Diego end up together anyway, so I don't see why he needs to get his heart broken again.

Cathyx, thanks for the wonderful recap. Yes, it is Mumbai. Nope, the beard didn't help Johnny at all. Very funny!

I was so happy we fast forwarded almost to the wedding.

Fanny has sized up her dad perfectly at this time. At the end of their argument about the wedding he had to stick it to her one more time by reminding her it had been three whole weeks since she left the university and she had not told him what she would be doing instead. Her response was she didn't care because it was all about him anyway. She called it.

Fernando just having to talk with Ana at the end was only to make himself feel better looking for her to forgive him some how because he is feeling very guilty--as he should be. He can say all he wants but he just made it worse for Ana--again. He just can't seem to slam that door shut. Coward.

Fanny is also in love with a guy sort of like dad because it is also all about him. León a married man out on the prowl. Doesn't matter if his wife left with their child or not. Get a divorce first or see what other services Chicago can offer but don't seduce Fanny. I wonder how long it will take before ahe discovers the truth.

The worst is only ahead for Fernando but as we all know his character will have to be forged anew through suffering to be worthy of Ana in the end-- as it should be!

The kids were funny. Loved the twins being fitted for the wedding and up,to,no good with their lighters

I did not like the avances showing Isabela slapping Ana. I am hoping it is a nightmare sequence or something.

Anyway the wedding should be interesting.

Jarifa

And I get the wedding, as usual. I promise to do it justice.

We'd better hear Leon's backstory soon. Tamara can't be from a rich family or her mother's death wouldn't have left her with noplace to live. I'd hate to think this young man is the same kind of gold-digging cad that Isabela is.

Urban, he very well could be or just a very ordinary guy that feels "entitled" to love and adoration even though he is not free to answer in kind. Selfish.

Looking forward to your wedding recap!

Jarifa

There was a tn that I really liked where the galan cheated on the prota and she got rid of him and ended up with another guy, Querida Enemiga. The loser was Gabriel Soto.

Have the Televisa rats been fired and replaced with big, fat roaches? That room where they have Johnny looked pretty clean except for the huge roaches, which looked too fat to even crawl around.

Thanks so much for this clear and concise recap. I had missed a couple of nights so your Bodas Interruptus lines helped a lot. It didn't seem to matter that I missed since the jump forward to two days before the wedding got us to the fun stuff with the twins, the fire lighters and more antics. I love the kids in this telenovela, they are all terrific.
Leon's son may get dark hair later, I was briefly a blond tyke with dark haired parents but maybe the curls are a clue to future paternity discussions. Enchanting little guy though.

And I am so glad you didn't pretend to be concerned with Jonny and the beard growing in and around his bruises. I so dislike this guy's character, I usually step out of the room to get water or cookies when his story line comes on. He has no redeeming qualities at all for me. He was such a brute to Ana, then a sobbing mess when he didn't get to torment her anymore with promises of relationship. He is ugly to boot except for being in rather good shape but put a bag over that head please...

Great recap and so appreciate the update on the end. Mother nature decided to throw a few bolts of lightening our way just as the last ten minutes were hitting. Maybe it was her reaction to Leon's secret.

Frankly, and I'm sure there is a story that will supposedly paint him in a "poor dude" light. But this is not a girlfriend that shows up with an adorable munchkin, and knows Leon is his Dad, this is his WIFE! Sure I want to know more, and it better be good, but that does not excuse this guy from taking his relationship as far as he did with Fanny Jr. I have left the Leon table for now until he fesses up and takes the hit, as he should, for not being straight with everyone.

Poor Alicia--in a way, Fanny has actually helped her with her self-esteem, but I hope there is not some evil motive behind all this that will reverse how well she seems to be doing. I like that Ana is happy for her. Ana, no matter how much she may hate Isa, will not put the kids in the middle.

Mr. IWantMyCakeAndEatItToo is getting on my last nerve. I was right there with Diego with "you are ordering" him? So, I can't have her, no one can and she can be miserable and alone, but I'll be happy knowing she loves only me. Someone have a 2x4 I can hit this guy up the back of the head with? I'm now of the mind Fer wasn't a Nando...he was SPOILED. Looks like he's use to be being the big cheese and getting his own way. Only thing keeping me a little on his side is how much he loves his kids. The guy may act devil may care and goofy(but with a large heart), so right now, I'm #TeamDiego until events prove otherwise.

I loved all the Nico/Jen interaction. They actually look like a happy couple despite their age difference. Love their banter and ease with each other. But I keep getting an anvil vibe, so I hope Jen's cancer doesn't come back later.

My prediction, don't know for sure, but I'm betting the wedding happens. Too early in the show, Isabridezilla has to be able to stick around and wreak havoc.

Daisynjay

Oops, meant Isa helped Alicia. Typing with a cat on your lap--never 100% works.

Cheryl, I'm with you. I actually feel sort of guilty not really caring about Johny or being interested in his scenes. He's made a few brownie points, but having him locked up sort of proves we don't need the character to have a good story.

Daisynjay

Love it cathyx.

"Ok, the beard isn’t helping"

Leon - Oho, selfish little shifty eyed punk

Fernando - reset the hook

Ana - actually, Fernando, you give love a bad name

Isabela - two down and 5 to go

Juan - worth more dead

Alicia - I feel kinda pretty so don't spoil it

Jenny - perhaps I still have a life

Nic - at least buy her some groceries or something

Diego - I'm just gettin started

Fanny - "Hanging on anyway
Believing the things you say
Being the fool.....Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Ain't that what you said? Liar, Liar, liar"

Daisynjay, I disagree about Fernando. He knows Diego is a playboy and that doesn't bode well for Ana, especially if this is about revenge. He is most definitely jealous, but that does not mean he doesn't wish to protect Ana from a potentially unfaithful man.

I also don't see Fernando as spoiled. Were he that he would insist that Isabela get an abortion and would continue to pursue Ana.

Don't think Nic spoiled his kids but Fernando is a selfish man and expects to win no matter the cost. On one hand he says he wants Ana around for his children but willing to let Isabela disrupt the house hold. Now he tells Ana he "loved" her and while true, knows this will put ice on any budding relationship with his brother. If that relationship heats up, Fernando will not play nice with his brother nor with Ana and once Isabela has developed a relationship with his children (by hook or by crook) Ana is no longer useful but a thorn in his and Isabela's side. If he really loved Ana, and was not selfish, would let her go now.

A person doesn't have to be evil for someone not to love them, but he will eventually discover that she is evil incarnate.

Fernando has not yet seen what we see about Isabela. My guess is that she will get away with a lot before he does. He will need to see her evil for himself rather than accept comments from others.

Anon 1500--I noticed how fat the roaches were! They almost looked like pets. (I wonder if there is a professional roach wrangler who rents them out to movies and TV sets.) That one looked big enough to wrestle the chicken leg away from Johnny.
Someone pointed out that after all these weeks, how does Don Doro expect Johnny to repay him if he is chained up?
J in Oregon

Cheryl, I'm glad that the 3 weeks passed by quickly too. Jonny's beard wasn't that long for 3 weeks, but at least he had one.

Julia, why wouldn't Leon tell Fanny right from the start that he is married and has a child but they left him a few years ago and he hasn't heard from them since? Because he wanted to date her and he knew she wouldn't if she knew that about him.
And I agree, Ana has never encouraged Diego. She doesn't owe him anything.

Daisynjay, I feel sorry for Alicia too. I was a middle child myself with an older and younger sister. I feel her pain.

I'm not sure that Fer is being selfish as much as being in love with Ana, knowing that she feels the same way, and yet being strong in his convictions that he is doing something that he thinks he must do. Ana even said as much in their conversation. Sacrificing his own happiness for his new baby. I'm not saying he's thought out the consequences of this but he doesn't know what the consequences will be yet.

I forgot to add, in the previews, they are in a church so he gave in to that too.

Fernando knows once he marries, and if he continues to do the right thing, he and Ana are over, so why doesn't he say it to her and allow her to leave without regret or guilt. He gets to move on with his life with a new wife and child and still keep Ana around and locked down. The unselfish thing would be to write her a glowing recommendation, pay her a well deserved bonus and/or help her place with a new family or if she wanted to do something else, help with that. That has never crossed his mind. He wants her to sit in the corner and pine for him, take care of his kids and make sure his brother stays away from her. If he loves her, let her get on with her life without him.

Well done cathyx. Very funny as well as insightful. Thanks.

Let's face it, didn't we all pretty much suspect that León had a kid when his happiness at the zoo suddenly became remorseful when he spotted that young family? And could he be any more of a jerk? I'm more disgusted with him for seducing an innocent Fanny with his sweet words and assertion of love but neglecting to mention one very crucial detail. I never much cared for him and now he's gonna need one heck of an explanation to win me over. I've got more respect for Isabela at this point.

UA,

Aren't you being a bit harsh in your assessment of Isabela?

"...he will eventually discover that she is evil incarnate."

We've seen evil incarnate in other TNs and I don't think that she is even in that league. Of course, opinions vary. I'm still puzzled why Fernando even agreed to have sex with her in the first place. My guess is that he thought it took less effort to go along with it than to say no.

I'm also disturbed about Ana even looking at the wedding dress, much less even semi-trying it on. As for the kids and the lighters... I'm failing to see the humor in that. Ana may have won them over but she certainly hasn't improved their behavior. I know, I know, it's a comedy... but these kids are delinquents and have done or attempted to do some potentially dangerous and destructive things.

Carlos

Cathx, thank you for the excellent recap. Your detailing was superior and your embedded vocabulary tantrum (berrinche)is greatly appreciated.

I was wrong (yet again) thinking Leon yearned for his father when it was indeed his son. He is clearly very angry at his wife and I hope we will soon find out why.

Carlos, I completely agree with you regarding Fanny. She was (still is) young and innocent and deserves so much better. I can't think of any excuse Leon could make, it was unpardonable. He committed the unforgiveable sin of lying by omision.

tofie, your "eon - Oho, selfish little shifty eyed punk" said it all.

Diego pining away for Ana was rather pitiful but I am hoping Ana will give him a chance.

Ummm, does anyone know or care that Johnny is missing?

Diana

I agree with Carlos re the wedding dress. Ana had absolutely no right to even open the box, much less pull the dress out and hold it up to herself. Plus, she was really rough, the way she was handling it. At the end of the little dress episode she just grabbed it and threw it in the box without folding it neatly. Then when the kids were about to light it up, she actually ran and SAT ON IT. Totally uncalled for. Her screams would have stopped them just as well. Then after that, they (Manuela) just crumpled it into its box and took it away. Completely disrespectful (I don't care how much of a bruja Isa is) and really tacky. I didn't find any part of that funny. And the way she was boohooing into it made me sick. She was thisclose to using it to blow her nose. Ana lost major points with me in those scenes.

She continues to aggravate me with her nonsensical screeching when she runs to open the door.

Anon 9:55 -
I agree about Ana and that stupid, "yo abro, yo abro" running and yelling. Sooo not cute.

I had no problem with Ana opening the dress box and pulling it out. I probably would have done the same thing if I were in her place. I would want to look at it too. So what if she did? I don't see the crime in that . And then I probably would have cried over what I was missing out on too. Disrespectful to a dress or to a woman who is completely rude to me and got pregnant and throws it in my face? No.

Yeah ... I wouldn't want anyone but me touching my wedding dress, for sure!

Great recap Cathyx. I particulary like the title "will there be bodas interruptus?" as well as maybe the beard "might help him look better for me... Ok, the beard isn't helping." Very funny!

Did I hear Don Nico tell Jennys that it would be worth her going to the wedding just to see Isabruja's face when she sees Jen at the boda?

Wow, I know some of you called Leon as a baby daddy early on, but I just did not see that coming! I'm with whoever said he should have told Fanny day one that this happened and that she left him. I'm not sure that she wouldn't have dated him. She's got that rebellious thing and when you're young you don't really think about how these things will effect you.

Did anyone notice that Ana's blouse came unbuttoned as she raced to save the dress? I thought she was doing something odd with her hands and then I realized she'd popped a button and was fixing it when her back was to the camera. It was funny-- what, is Univision to cheap to do a second take?

I think Diego already knows that Ana is in love with Fer and vice versa, but I think he's counting on the fact that Fer is going to marry Isa and hopes that Ana will eventually fall for him instead.

How is it that they came to evict Johnny 3 weeks ago and said he had 24 hours to get his stuff out, but Jenny and Nico returned to that pad with all of the stuff (even the telephone booth) still there? Beanie time?

Rebecca

Rebecca, Nico and Jennifer returned to the ladies' little casita, not to Johnny's place. The women (Ana and the other coworker) took all his stuff and put it there to save it from being thrown out in the street. But it was funny to see that they even took the phone booth.

Carlos, what else do you call someone who uses a voodoo doll?

I'd also like to know whether Fernando is her first victim in her quest to marry money.

I don't think Fanny would have written Leon off if he'd told her he was married and had a child. She probably would have told him to get a divorce first and THEN they'd see about dating, but she was so smitten by him, I don't think it would be a dealbreaker for her.

Rebecca, yes, Televisa is in fact often too cheap and/or in too much of a hurry to do a second take. They shoot on a really hard and fast schedule. Sometimes scenes have to air the day after they are filmed! Putting an episode on five days a week doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room for perfectionism.

There have been way bigger scene errors than that in the past! One memorable time was in La Fea Más Bella. Jaime Camil actually hurt his hand mid-scene, which threw things off and he kind of blatantly just read a few lines of dialogue off the prompter without attempting to make it seem natural. And this was the take that aired. There have been other times when the action accidentally exposed an actor's microphone, normally hidden under their clothes. One time in Niña de Mi Corazón, the camera panned a little too wide and you could see one of the walls as just the backside of a fakey set wall. Stuff like that. I find it entertaining.

I think Fanny would have made a different decision had she known Leon was married and had a child, Leon knew it and why he kept lying. Leon's mother kept trying to get him to tell and she knew it too. Fanny, despite her self confidence, was a naive 19 year old virgin, who had just turned down a creep and wanted her first time to be special. I don't think she is mature enough to work through the nuance necessary to wait for a young guy married with a child and wooing her, crush or not. She didn't fall for Leon, she fell for what Leon fabricated and continued to misrepresent.

Wonderful recap gracias CathyX!

A couple of things about this ep disturbed me. The first being Leon and his anger at his wife. I found the way he grabbed her a bit unnerving, almost indicating that he had a dark side, that or the writers want us to think that. I'm also disturbed by the way he kept his little familia a secret from Fanny. She deserved to know exactly who she was getting involved with. He led her to his heart and bed under false pretenses.

I also found Fernando disturbing with his eve of the boda confession to Ana. He continues to cross boundaries he has no biz crossing. He's about to be married, no one is forcing him to marry IsaBruja, so for him to toy with Ana's feelings by giving her his doe eyes and telling her that he loved her just chaps me. If he wants Ana than man up, tell Isa how it is and that he'll support her and the baby financially but there will be no marriage! I can't stand waffling men!

Add me to the list of those who thought Ana was out of line with the dress. I'd be plenty ticked if I found out that staff was handling my dress and getting it all crumpled up before my big day. If Ana can't handle the way things have unfolded she can get to stepping! She's disappointing me big time with how she's handling all of this.

Can Johnny just get swallowed by one of those giant roaches? I'm not the least bit interested in him.

Things I'm loving:

Not sure what is up with IsaBruja and Alicia, but I did enjoy the shopping spree and her interest in giving Alicia a makeover. If there are ulterior motives or not, the kid is feeling much better about herself.

Diego trying to woo Ana! She'd be a fool to not at least give him a chance.

Nico and Jenny! These two are so sweet and loving and respectful. I love the take on this May/December romance.

SN and her pole dancing! The woman is astounding to watch.

Cheryl
I love your phrase "please put a bag over that [Johny's] head". I am finding the whole Johny storyline, (especially with Doro) really terrible and fast forward through all his scenes. Since this actor is billed on the credits as one of the major characters, I don't hold out much for an early withdrawal.

Didn't some of the short opening scenes during the beginning credits show Ana catching Diego kissing some girl (the jungle girlfriend?) in Fer's study/library/home office?

I agree that nobody is forcing Fernando to marry Isabruja; in fact, nobody else is in favor of this. This is a mistake he will learn from.

Most of us wouldn't make the same decision as Ana did, but she doesn't want to leave the kids at Isabully's mercy. While Fanny and Nando might be able to protect their younger sibs some of the time, they shouldn't have to.

Right now it's looking less like Ana doing it for the kids and more about wishing for a miracle derailment of the wedding (or the consolation prize of Diego), needs the kids more than they need her and the additional income after paying for Jenny's surgery.

I'm kinda with Teri and more pragmatic, so if Alicia (or any of the kids) get something out of it no matter Isabela's motives, good for her and suspect there could be something positive for all the kids if Ana was out of orbit.

We'll probably find that Leon somehow was trapped into marrying because of a pregnancy same as Fernando and lean on that as a pardonable detail forgetting all the havoc it created downstream. I don't think they deserve to get their prize at the end because of their selfishness post conception with other women.

Do you think therefore that both Leon and Fernando should suffer for the rest of their lives for this?

I don't think they should be rewarded for wronging Ana and Fanny with happily ever after. If they can learn to respect someone they profess to love in the future, fine.

Fernando has not treated Ana as an equal unless they are in a lip lock. It took his brother (or maybe it was Nic) to point out this arrangement may be uncomfortable for Ana. You don't treat someone you profess to love with that much disrespect. Fernando treats her like an employee and he has made a business decision, nothing personal, so accept it and the option to leave creates even more pain for her and another inconvenience for him. Fernando has Ana in a corner, he knows it and she knows he knows.

Leon on the other hand met a rich girl and smitten and knew if he disclosed his marriage, the rich girl might bolt. His mother has nearly begged him to tell and he brushes it off. Fanny has totally made her self venerable and multiple times begged him not to hurt her and he continued for his own benefit. That is not a mistake.

You are describing Fernando as a vicious and selfish monster when he is really very naive about women. Or he would have spotted Isabela as a gold-digger a mile away.

He and Diego have no sisters, which contributes to the problem. Men with sisters typically are more knowledgeable about women (provided the age difference isn't too big).

Leon needs to explain himself. I think he is the bigger sinner here. He could easily be accused of being a fortune hunter or at least looking for a leg up on the competition when he looks for work in what he wants to do. There was clearly some major conflict with Tamara and her family, but we need to know what that is.

I agree, Leon the larger sinner here and don't think Fernando a vicious monster, however the pain inflicted on Ana is the same none the less. I also don't think Fernando some naive kid. He is a successful business man that was married 20 years and married a woman that was with his younger brother first and he lived with the consequences of that boundary breach. My point is, Fernando is selfish and wants Ana for himself alone, despite marrying another woman he impregnated. You don't have to be sophisticated with women to know how unfair that is, to ask of anyone, much less someone you profess to love.

Keep one think in mind about Fernando's first wife: She is not some object he took from Diego as he might have taken a toy when they were kids. It was her choice to marry him instead. Both of these guys seem to forget this.

As to where this should go from here, I think Ana should leave. She should get a generous severance check and a glowing recommendation. Isabela can't hide her true nature from Fernando forever and he will come to his senses.

UA,

"Carlos, what else do you call someone who uses a voodoo doll?"

Well, in her case I don't see a large commitment or enthusiasm for Voodoo... come on, sticking a few pins into a freshly unwrapped Barbi? No incantations? No chickens sacrificed? Marie Laveau she's not.

tofie,

I find myself nodding in agreement with all that you are saying about both Fernando and León... both are incredibly selfish and self-centered. I don't view either of them as innocent victims.

Carlos

And here is JS of the puppy dog eyes, working his magic again on an Ana (and Viewerville). Only this time it's Ana la Nana instead of Ana Paula. I didn't want him to end up with Ana in LQNPA and I don't want him to do so now. Didn't and don't like his treatment of the Anas. Didn't like Rogelio, don't like Fernando.

Do you guys think we are going to have to put uo with Isabruja talking down to Ana and treating her like crap for +150 episodes?

Super, dooper, witty recap, cathyx!!! Thank you!

Victoria Gomezto answer your question above: YES.

Fatima

I refuse to put up with that. If it looks like it's going to happen that way, I'll simply stop watching. I've done it before, and come back to the tn after a hiatus with no regrets. The stories move so slowly that it's not hard to catch up even after missing a couple of months of the repetitive nonsense.

Fatima, Oh no, say it isn't so! Ha! Ok, I deal with anything but Johny for episodes on end.

Victoria Gomez, yes, poor Johnnys can take a hike!

Isa has absolutely no reason to change. She got what she wanted and her mother is going to help her get rid of Ana. What better way to do that than treat her like dirt?

As Urban said above and with which I am in total agreement, the equation only changes when Ana leaves.

What are the chances of Ana leaving? It FRIES me that Fernando had the nerve and the gall to lead Ana on by telling her he loved her. REALLY?!

I would have told him to take his controlling self right out the door.

Fatima

Thank you, Cathyx, I loved the Bodas Interruptus bit.
Ha, and the wedding hasn't even started.

That Leon guy... sure he a child. Like we didn't already have an army of kids in this tn. Filming must be a nightmare, what with having to adjust to all the kids' schedules and legal hours of work.

Again, I think Ana is overreacting with her pain. I've seen SN play heartbroken heroine many times before (I still get the chills whenever I see the scenes of Camila crying after Daniel left with Miriam in Amor Bravio) and she is great at them, but this time it all feels fake to me, because I am not emotionally invested in the couple, or at least not as much as the producers think I might be. Those sobs that Ana is producing are worthy of episode 100, break-up number 3, which is something we definitely haven't seen.

If we are suspecting that Leon's wife cheated because the child is blond, could Isabruja have cheated, too? Have we seen her in any compromising situations so far? She did look at Diego with a rather lustful smirk but, then again, who wouldn't??

I'm remembering when Isabela discovered she was pregnant and was counting back. Since we never get a proper sense of how time passes in these series we can't pinpoint it exactly which must be deliberate on the producers' parts.

I don't think that Fernando is the one who made her pregnant. However, it's going to take a while before we find out.

Urban
Fer finding out will be the interesting part.

Something will happen to the baby where they will need blood and out of the 99 Lazcurains, not a single one will be a match. Now what, Isabooboo?

UA, I too agree Fernando not the father but does that change anything once they marry? Fernando, I'm guessing, would want the child to grow up in a stable environment and so would Ana if the biological father missing or unknown. Unless, as some have mused, her ex arrives on the scene and whisks her away. In the time that transpires we may already have a raging romance between Diego and Ana. Who wins that one?

I don't think that Diego is that interested in Ana except as a tool of revenge. That's no slur on her; it's about the fact that Diego hasn't been serious about any woman yet.

And she would have to be interested in him for anything to happen and she isn't.

Not a spoiler, but I think that Lisardo Guarinos' character (Enrique) is the one who knocked Isabruja up. He has to turn up soon.

Tofie, in answer to your other question...

The Law of Presumptive Paternity will assume that Fernando is the father of this child until proven otherwise. If our assumptions/vibes/whatever are right and he isn't, he can get a church annulment on the grounds of the marriage was contracted based on fraud.

Even better if he refuses to consummate it, which is another way to an annulment.

We can assume that Isabela knows this last fact and will do her best to coerce him.

The projected length of this series is such that we are not likely to FF to the birth. She also avoided talking to "Enrique" so we know he will shortly show up. I think we can expect her to become a major Pregzilla when she loses her figure and starts to stress out.

While I think that someone else may be the father of the child that Isabela is expecting, I don't think that she is quite certain who the father is at this point based on the way she was calculating.

While Isabela may be predatory, conniving, and duplicitous, she really doesn't strike me as evil. If indeed she is, then all her major crimes are yet to be committed. Just because seven spoiled brats don't accept her as a potential mom, just because she slept with her vulnerable boss and got pregnant, and just because she half-heartedly stuck some pins in a plastic doll are not reasons to condemn her.

As for Fernando, he just needs to make a decision and stick to it. If he's in love with Ana and can't be faithful to Isabela, he needs to face up to the fact and deal with the situation accordingly. Right now he's being fair to no one. At least Johnny was willing to commit.

Carlos

I don't see IsaBruja as evil either, just greedy, bad mannered and lacking in any warmth. Mileage may vary but her mother is the one who annoys me more. She's placed this huge burden on Isa to provide and care for her financially, even guilting her by throwing in Isa's face all the money spent on Isa's schooling. The love from Isa's mother seems very conditional on Isa doing for her mother. It's all me..me..what you can do for me/us. Is it any wonder that Isa is lacking in maternal skills and seems awkward with the kids? The way she was relating to Alicia sort of gave me a glimpse into another side of Isa. A woman who isn't all bad and selfish. It seems she can let her guard down and be human even relating to others.

On the other hand, the kids have been far more devilish and evil what with their paint, and almost lighting her dress on fire. I'd be afraid for her pregnancy making it full term in that house of horrors. The children truly need to be reigned in. It's not behavior I would ever tolerate against any adult.

I'm pretty sure though that Ana is going to be the recipient of some pretty bad treatment from Isa and her mother. The baby will be constantly thrown in Ana's face, making it that much more unbearable. I still think Ana is a fool for staying.

The twins obviously didn't consider that the fire could damage much more than the dress. They felt desperate.

The kids' grief over their mother's death still doesn't seem to have been dealt with appropriately. It always bugs me that nobody in novelas appears to know about shrinks.

As to Yolanda, her behavior is par for the course. She has a sense of entitlement about any money Isabully marries. She must have a hell of a backstory to have gotten to that point. She therefore raised her daughter to have the same attitude and... if left to her own devices Isabully will do the same.

No; scratch that. She will have a nanny raise this baby and not bother. She'll be too busy abusing the staff, trying to seduce Fernando, and insulting her mother.

True, no one asked any of the younger kids about how they feel about Fernando marrying and replacing their mother. They are expected to just go along with it. They have accepted Ana as a semi-replacement for her and they respect her, and now Isabela just moves right in and will now be their stepmother. And also there will be a new sibling. Will they act out? Of course, they acted out when Ana came too.

UA, I don't think you watched Que Pobres Tan Ricos, but they also had a mother/daughter duo and the mother also thought the daughter's marriage was the 3 of them together. The mother even called the marriage, our marriage. Everything that the daughter accumulated was shared equally with the mother. We could put this in your weekend discussion for what I learned watching TNs. Gold digger mother's control their daughter's lives.

I didn't, but although that makes me cringe, it doesn't actually surprise me. Narcissistic mothers have no boundaries.

Thank you, Nanette!! Your memory always amazes me!!

Fatima

Fatima: thank you. I do have quite a memory for film facts, but when it comes to TNs,I'm no Vivi.:)I take notes.

Nanette

Nanette, thank you for the excellent lists.

"Fer not happy Ana is helping a friend (I think he thinks it’s Johnny)". You know, that never occurred to me. I was surprised he was rather cruel in his response to Ana. But, you made a very good observation - he may indeed be he thought it was Johnny. Well, in that case...

Diana

Don't forget to dress for the wedding tonight. You don't want Isabela to bar you from the church!

Cathyx: Thanks for the recap and for correcting Bombay to Mumbai. It’s been officially Mumbai since 1995.

Shiva is a part of the Hindu trinity: Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the sustainer) and Shiva (the destroyer). He destroys illusion (ego). The dancing Shiva is called Shiva Nataraja. I replayed the scene where Diego gave Ana the statue with the ccs and he said that Shiva is an important god in the Hindu religion and that he dances the bad away and equalizes the world. I’m working off memory now, but that’s the gist. He’s usually depicted in a dancing in a circle of fire with his hair electrified by the energy and flying out to all sides. Dancing Shiva

There used to be pole dancing workouts throughout the L.A. area years ago. The actor, Sheila Kelly, made it popular. Don't know how popular it is now as a workout.

Rebecca: I noticed the button, too.

I’m afraid that Isa is going to take over the Quinceañera and talk Ali into having a traditional one and hurt Ana’s feelings because when she mentioned it, Ali said it was old-fashioned.

UA: Val (PEAM) went to a therapist, and we all know how that turned out. ☺

Diana: your welcome. Ana had asked for permission to leave the casa to help Johnny before and Fer likes Jen, so I figured he must be thinking of Johnny.

Nanette

Happy Monday everyone!! Cathyx, thanks for a fun-filled recap. Carlos, I hope Isab----- turns out better than Maria in LQLVMR did. Why is Ana the one in trouble? Isab---- had no business sending the dress to Fer's house. Isn't it taboo for the groom to see the dress? Besides she knows what the kids are capable off. I strongly believe she did it to rob it in Ana's face. I hooked the fish and you didn't. Who can blame Ana for wanting to take a look. She wouldn't be human is she hadn't. Fer believes marrying Isa and his love for Ana are two completely different and separate things. Isab--- is responsibility, Ana is love. Why should he give up on love? Poor idiot!! He is not factoring in Isab---'s greed and Ana's emotions.
As for Diego, am not sure how I feel about him. Time will tell.

Hanna

Dear Cathyx,

Never had the chance to comment this weekend but enjoyed your recap and the long list of discussion contributions I just read. I pray to Dios that we do not have more than 100 episodes of Ana taking crap from Isabela. She will have to leave, tearfully, but it has to happen.

External variables affecting the outcome are too numerous to count, but we will eventually have Isabela's friend arrive and Ana's mother.

Independent of paternity, I wonder if there isn't some kind of fraud/embezzlement that Isabela and her buddy engaged in. She is new to the company and she and her mother have had major economic problems. I think there has to be a business angle here and that looks like a possibility.

I guess we will see whether the wedding is interruptus soon enough!

Thankx for the great recap, cathyx!
I agree with everyone on Leon and Fernando... and neither of them deserves the benefit of the doubt right now... both of them are totally unfair and just plain nasty to the woman they claim to love dearly...
As far as Isabella, I have to give Carlos some support... she really has not done anything anywhere near 'evilish' other than being a spoiled bratt that given the fact that her mother spent all their inherited fortune in her studies, deserves/feels entitled for payback... and will step on anyone she has to (esp if it is 'lower class' folks like Ana or Leon) to get where they want. I do believe to some extent when she told Ana that she 'loved Fernando and wanted to make him happy the rest of his life'... she loves him... 'a su manera' like Juan del Diablo would say about Aimee's love for him.

I agree that Alicia is benefiting from Isa's attitude and willingness to help her... so regardless of where it comes from, it is help for her.

I agree with Julia that Ana is not leading Diego on... from the moment they met she has not encouraged him... eventually this might change with his return and the wedding(if it goes through). Once she sees Fernando more unreachable and Diego continues his interest, she SHOULD give him a chance to build his case.

Yes, the whole episode of Ana and the dress was more creepy and disturbing rather than funny.

The jury is has condemned Leon on his 'lie' to Fanny, but is still out on Leon's status of husband and dad... he needs to come up with a really REALLY good explanation about his situation for us to lean his way regarding Tamara and the kid.
and yes, it is strange to have a blonde curly hair boy when you are brunette... but my own mother is brunette (black hair & eyes) and has a sister who is blonde-green eyed and another sister with brown hair and blue eyes... they have italian background.

my guess is the wedding will go through, we will have a few months of Isa trying to make Ana's life so miserable to try to get her to leave... but i really hope we will have Ana and Fernando together before episode 100... maybe they will marry and this will become like 2nd half of mundo de juguete or Carita de Angel, with them married.

I've known lots of blond kids with darker-haired parents, including many of my own family members. It's really common. I think the light hair is a recessive gene so the parents can pass it on without having light hair themselves. Also it is very common for the hair of caucasians to start out light when they're young and get darker as they get older. One of my sisters had blonde hair when she was little, in adulthood it's more medium brown, her husband has dark brown hair, and their kids have white-blond hair, although the oldest kid's is turning a bit darker now.

The point being, I don't think the hair color of Leon's little cub is any reason to call his paternity into question. We may find other reasons later, or not, but I don't think that is one.

I don't think Leon's lie by omission means he is a terrible evil person who should be punished for it forever, but I think he will have to work hard to make amends and prove himself reformed in order to be a worthwhile partner for Fanny or anyone.

Julia: I agree about the hair color. My dad and I were both towheads when we were toddlers and ended up with med brown hair. Mine was also straight as a stick when I was in grade school and got naturally curly when I got older.

I definitely think Fan is too young to be a step-mom right now.

martaivett I loved your reference to Corazon Salvaje. Recently I've been thinking about watching it (the 2009 version) for the umpteenth time! Your comment was such a coincidence.

About hair color: Such a question. My parents and siblings had dark brown hair but I ended up with really really RED hair. I was the red-headed step child! My mean bitchy older sister told me I was adopted and I believed her until I turned 15 and needed my birth certificate for boarding school!

I don't care about Leon's son, he is just adorable and the cutest novela kid yet!

Several of my cousins have red hair and blue eyes. I like to tease them that it's the Neanderthalian DNA.

Jen's biopsy came back negative, didn't it? Or was that a PET scan?
But I'm more worried about the state of Nico's health than Jen's. Isn't a graveyard scene de rigueur for a telenovela?

I've also thought that Ana could teach Zumba or ballroom if she likes dancing so much.

Nanette, ITA. Fanny way too young and has no life experience at all to attempt being a step mother much less a wife.

Tofie: at least she has some experience--being so much older than her three younger sibs. That will help when/if the time comes. Leon's keeping such a big secret from her is going to be hard to forgive.

Fanny is too young and inexperienced to get married whether or not the guy has a kid. I don't think she should consider it anytime soon. Although, I don't see his child as a reason she shouldn't continue dating him, when/if she finds out his secret and eventually forgives him for keeping it from her. I think she needs to figure out what she wants to do and finish school before she thinks about getting married. As far as relating to the child as the novia of his dad, though, I think she'd be fine. She's certainly much better with kids than Isa, and I think seeing herself in more of a parent type role would be good for her maturity. She'd start thinking more about being a good role model instead of being one of the kids who can encourage bad behavior.

But I'd also be totally fine with her breaking up with Leon for good, and his eventually learning some good lessons and living happily ever after with someone else while Fanny finds career success in something and meets someone new.

I hope all the fancy society people that Isa doesn't even know but is inviting to the wedding all say "who?" and throw out the invitations and hardly anyone shows up. Isa may not be the very apex of evil, but I would still really enjoy watching her pretentious self walk down the aisle with most of the seats empty. I would also enjoy it if reluctant caboose Luz accidentally stepped on the train and tripped Isa in front of everyone.

If Leon is still married to Tamara I can see Fanny sending him packing until he gets that situation straightened out. When that happens I hope she confides in Ana before telling anyone else.
