Mi Corazón es Tuyo #41, Lunes 9/15/14 #41: Who Let the Dogs IN?

Lascuráin Mansion: Fernando decided to lay down the law to Sebastián, grabbing his arm as he told him they were going to talk in the library. Neither he nor Sebastián nor Alicia noticed this, but Hissabela was gloating the whole time when Fernando played through the second act of “Wait 'till Your Father Gets Home.” The boy was clearly intimidated and Alicia watched in near disbelief. Hissabela finally distracted the girl by suggesting they go upstairs to try on the dress for her quinceñera.

In the library, Fernando began by apologizing to Sebastián for grabbing his arm as he had. He wanted to know why Sebastián had refused to talk to him. The boy cried as Fernando apologized again, told him he loved him, and asked why he was doing badly in school. Sebastián told him it was because he had married Isabela and she was not wanted there. Fernando explained that this was about the little brother or sister coming but Sebastián was still upset. He walked out of the room crying. Fernando cried as he quietly asked himself “What am I doing? What am I doing?”

You have begun destroying your family,” said Aphrodite as she watched this from Mount Olympus. “You were too blinded by superficial beauty and just enough intelligence to be employed by your company to not see that your wife has made a prize fool of you.”

If only they could hear us,” Hera said. “But some mortals will be foolish in spite of themselves.”

Johnny's Former Residence: He pushed his way in and began intimidating the new tenant by grabbing his shirt near the collar. The young man got him to back off, then explained that he had recently arrived to find the place empty. Because Johnny hadn't paid rent in a long time he was evicted and his possessions removed.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana and Manuela were working on dinner and trying to talk about their issues when Johnny just walked in through the kitchen door. Ana didn't recognize him at first and told him to leave immediately. He looked hideous and smelled worse.
When he identified himself Ana realized that something bad had happened to him. He said he couldn't tell her. She explained that his things were in her house. She gave him a little money for a taxicab and the key so he could go there, bathe, and dress in clean clothes. Understandably she declined to allow him to hug her. Manuela watched in total confusion but said nothing.

Fernando appeared just as Johnny was out the door, telling Ana he needed to talk to her right away. Reluctantly she followed him out of the kitchen into the parlor. He told her that his conversation with Sebastián had gone badly because he wouldn't talk, so he asked what had happened. Ana explained somewhat sarcastically that the boy had fought with Alicia about how she was a traitor because she was falling in with Isabruja. It was because Isabruja was planning her quince. She asked what they were going to do about Sebastián.

Fernando showed his desperation for connexion with her as they began but she emphasized that his children were their responsibility... the only thing they had in common. The topic of Sebastián's schoolwork was raised and he said he would give it all the time he could. She tried to excuse herself to tend to the children, but he didn't let her go.

He talked about how difficult it might be for her to be under the same roof with Isabela and she curtly told him that they all get accustomed to whatever they had to in life. She tried to leave but he pulled her back.

He brought up his conversation with Diego and Diego's declaration of love for her. She asked if that bothered him. He tried not to answer but finally admitted it did. She told him that he had given up the right to ask about this the moment he decided to marry Isabela. She walked out before he had a chance to say another word.

Fernando, you're hot but that doesn't excuse your actions,” said Aphrodite. “I see how Ana feels. “You have betrayed her trust. You're going to pay for that.”

Ana went upstairs to the girls' room and found Alicia with Hissabruja. She asked for Luz and was told that she was with the twins. Isabully makes fun of Ana's nickname for Alicia (apparently in her own head, saying it's the most gauche thing she's ever heard). To Alicia's face she was her usual hypocritical self.
In the boys' room the Sebastián paced while the twins planned their next salvo against Isabruja. Luz suggested doing what they had done to the past nanny candidates. The twins began reviewing it but were interrupted by Ana, asking why they haven't changed. Luz ran over to her and Ana kissed her several times.
She looked at the twins and told them she knew they were up to something.

La Costeña: León followed Tamara out of the office to find out what she was really up to. She was very put out that he had never told her he was working for the company president. Or that his girlfriend did. He then told her that his girlfriend was the CEO's daughter. Her sarcastic reply showed she wasn't impressed. She “mi amor”'ed him and insisted they talk. He corrected her on that four-letter word and said yes, they're going to talk.

What is with these women and their obsessions with men who don't love them?” Hera asked. “I will never understand it.”

We ourselves are not immune, Hera,” Aphrodite said. “Nor are men.”

Meanwhile, Fernando called the office and Fanny answered. After a sarcastic exchange about Hissabela she passed the phone to Beatriz.

Ana & Jennifer's House: Johnny had showered and was shaving. He paused to lean against the wall and cry. There were red areas on his sides, showing that all his ribs had been severely bruised.

Ximena's House: Nando stood in the parlour, nervous. A maid came down the stairs to tell him that Ximena would be right down. Her facial expression could only inspire a sense of foreboding.

Wow; that was Giambologna's statue of me in that house! I wonder who the trickster is there?” Hermes said.

Can't you stop joking for even a minute?” Aphrodite told him. “In case you haven't figured it out Nando is going to have a major problem here.”

La Costeña: Leon and Tamara sat at an outdoor table. She “Mi amor”'d him once again, which he was annoyed with. He told her that she and Mauricio could stay in the guest house and that he would move in with his mother. He wanted a divorce. She looked more than displeased at this last statement.

Ximena's House: The maid left the parlour. Nando watched as Ximena came down the stairs looking like a younger version of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire. He embraced her, asking if she was alright. She wasn't.
She is bi-polar. None of the doctors she had seen were able to help. He told her he wanted to help her and she suddenly pushed him away. She went on about being toxic and contaminated.

La Costeña: Of course, Tamara didn't want a divorce. Leon pointed out that they hadn't had a marriage in a long time. He had no intention to abandon his son, but their marriage was over. She tried to manipulate him by saying that the boy wanted them together, that she declared once they came back they would have the family they always wanted. He pulled his hands free of hers and told her that while he had married her he didn't love her. She got nasty with him, demanding to know whether he loved the rich little girl who just happened to be his boss's daughter. She asked whether he ever told her he was married and speculated that the spoiled little richbitch would make fun of him and drop him like a hot potato.
As she got up she asked him how he would face the spoiled brat with the garbage life he had. He tried to keep her back to finish the argument but she pulled herself free and stalked away.
He knew she was planning something.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana called for the children to hurry up and come downstairs because dinner would be ready shortly.
Diego was coming down the stairs, asking how things were going with Sebastián. She told him “Not well” and he volunteered to talk to him. She said “Not now,” and she wanted to talk to him herself. Why did he tell Fernando that they had a relationship?
Well, he told Fernando that he loved her and of his intentions. “Seriously?” she asked.

He was about to kiss her when Fernando emerged from the library with a sarcastic comment about discretion. They exchanged stares when Fernando pulled rank and reminded Ana that she was an employee and had to be on her best behavior for the children's sake.
Before this could get any worse the twins came running down the stairs. They ran past the adults and she shouted after them to be careful and not hurt themselves. Fernando got back on this ugly subject and Ana told him it was all perfectly clear and not to worry.

Yolanda entered, yelling for the “waiter” to show up and kiss her culo.
Fernando had had enough of this and told her that Bruno is no waiter. She apologized, then shouted for Bruno by name, even whistling as though he were her pet dog.
Fernando closed his eyes briefly as though he were developing a headache from all this. Luz came running down the stairs to him and he picked her up asking “Who is the prettiest princess of all the ones in the stories?”

Bad. Because the witch is here.”

What witch are you talking about?”

That witch, Papa,” she said, pointing to Isabruja, who was coming down the stairs with Alicia.

No, no, love, don't talk like that. Her name is Isabela. Isabela.”

Ay, my love, why are you all out here?” asked Isabruja. She looked at Luz and reached out a little. “Would you like to go in with me to dinner?”

No,” said Luz. “Put me down, Papa?”

Yes, my love,” he said as he put her down on her feet.
Isabela looked very displeased and it also looked as though Alicia was becoming her mini-me. Luz pointedly went to Ana and asked to be picked up and taken in. Isabruja asked who else was at the table.
Ana said that Fanny was working late and Nando was also out; she wasn't sure where. With the five younger children, Isabela, Fernando, Diego, Nicolas, and Yolanda that would be ten. Isabela said that dinner must be ready and Ana said “Si, Señora” before turning away to bring Luz into the dining room. Isabruja followed with Alicia. That left the two brothers alone. Diego tried to comment on how Fernando had treated Ana, but Fernando wasn't having it. He told him that he was not to interfere in how he treats his staff.
In the dining room Bruno was putting the finishing touches on the table settings while the twins talked sotto voce on the other side of the table. One said he had the thing in his pocket. The other said he would have to sit next to the witch. They bumped fists and stepped over to the sideboard. Bruno and Ana were trying to talk about Manuela and how vulnerable she was.
Luz was hearing things Ana felt she was too young for and tried to sidestep her questions. She teased Bruno nonetheless, assuring him that he had it all over Johnny.
Bruno was pleased to hear this and Luz realized that Bruno had it bad for Manuela.

Manuela was busy in the kitchen explaining the varied menu to Isabitch. She had a virtual restaurant menu prepared for a family who didn't all like the same things. The only person who seemed to like everything being served was Diego.
Isabitch seemed disappointed that Manuela had everything so well under control. Manuela assured her that she had worked eight years for this family and knew everyone's preferences. Except hers, yet. Isabruja said she would give her the list.
Manuela said (semi-sarcastically) they wanted to please their employers. Isabitch said something to the effect that she hoped so. Manuela – who always had trouble keeping her cool – started saying what an entitled bitch she was and Isabitch heard her.

Repeat what you said, Cook!” Isabruja said, viciously. “Now repeat what you said!”

Nothing, Señora,” said Manuela, backing off.

You are to do as I say,” said Isabully, touching the front ruffle of Manuela's dress. “And how common is this uniform? Do you think you're at a party?” She turned up her nose and walked out, smiling at Alicia whose shocked expression changed.

What is wrong with her?” asked Hera. “It has to be something beyond pregnancy hormones.”

She knows that Fernando doesn't love her. Some people can't deal with not being loved so they become obsessed with hate. Or control.”

Yolanda entered the dining room, again addressing Bruno as “Waiter.” He remained with his back turned to her, telling her as calmly as he could that he is not a waiter but Bruno, the butler.

Whatever your name is, do you have my margarita?” she demanded.

No, Señora,” he said.

She went into minute detail as to what she expected. Bruno did a military about-face and exited.
Yolanda then went on about how low-class the table decoration was before exiting the room.
Ana began taking deep breaths to prevent herself from reacting to her and again tried to sidestep Luz's questions by making something up.

This woman is nightmare,” Hera said. “And her daughter is worse. If I had servants like Manuela and Bruno I'd treat them with the appropriate respect.”

We can't let this go unanswered.”

I know,” said Hermes. “You told me everything I need to know. Just watch what the boys are going to do. I didn't have to teach them a thing. They're naturals.”

Ana then reminded herself to call Nando. She excused herself from the dining room, leaving Luz and the twins alone. She did caution them not to get into any mischief.

Ximena's House: Nando tried to tell her he loved her, but she was too distraught. Nando's cell rang and he saw it was Ana.
He was reluctant to talk about Ximena, but finally told her he would be home in ten minutes. He looked like he knew this was a bad estimate.

Ana & Jennifer's House: Johnny was whistling in the bathroom when Jennifer got back. She grabbed the push broom and stood by the doorjamb.

When he came out she almost whacked him until she saw who he was and he was sufficiently startled to not notice that he had dropped the towel. “You're dressed like Adam” she said and he realized he was naked and that was not good.
He grabbed the towel and got out of her sight. She was amused.

I don't know why his show was a failure,” said Aphrodite. “It's not like he doesn't have the right equipment.”

Failure is relative,” said Hermes. “And that's not a joke.”

Lascuráin Mansion: In the library Nick showed the ring to Fernando, who admired it and teased him a little. Nick asked why he had returned from the honeymoon so soon; was there something wrong with Isabela? Fernando tried to divert him when Ana came in and he showed her the ring. She teased him as well.
Finally she told Fernando he would need to talk to his oldest son ASAP; he was on his way home and by the way, dinner is served.
After she left the library Fernando asked Nick what was wrong. Nick told him that Nando's novia was a bit unstable. Fernando simply said “Wow” as though he could think of nothing better.
Isabruja and Alicia entered the dining room and the boys told her they wanted to sit with her. She acted pleased.
They played the usual twin game of making sure she was confused as to who was who with a reminder to concentrate. Luz approved their actions.

Sebastián was up in the bedroom and Diego was trying to talk to him. He told him he couldn't stand Isabela and that he missed his mother. He asked Diego if he wanted him to pretend he didn't hate her.
Diego told him that somehow he had to get along with her because she was here to stay.
He got up and hugged the boy, telling him that somehow they were going to find the way for him to feel better.

On the way in to dinner Fernando was enumerating the children's issues to Nick, who told him that seven children could equal seven separate problems. Fernando looked at his first wife's portrait and said that there were no problems when she was alive. She had made things work. Nick agreed, but reminded him that he had another major problem: Ana. “How are you going to live in this house with your wife and the woman you really love now that your brother is also in love with her?” That almost set Fernando off but he caught himself.
Nick told him he needed to relax so he could better cope with the situation. Fernando took a few deep breaths as Nick went into the dining room.
As he tried to pass Yolanda to get to his normal seat she grabbed his hand and insisted he sit next to her “like chewing gum plastered to the wall”. He was not happy, but too polite to say so. They were seated opposite the twins. Fernando entered and took his seat. Luz asked whether Ana was going to eat with them and he told her she would not.

Isabitch smirked.
Bruno entered with Yolanda's margarita and placed it in front of her. Again she addressed him as “Waiter.”
Fernando noticed but said nothing.
Isabruja tried to silently convey her irritation at her mother but it was being ignored.
Nando arrived and was surprised to see his father home so soon.
A minor exchange about Sebastián later Fernando rose to get him.

Ana & Jennifer's House: Johnny and Jennifer were eating tacos and she asked him what happened. It was weird when he wouldn't answer his cell. He wasn't too eager to talk about it, instead asking about her health issues. FF>>

Lascuráin Mansion: In the kitchen Ana tried to get Bruno to talk about why he isn't pursuing Manuela. Reluctantly he admitted he was afraid of love. He had been burned once and was avoiding the heat to the extent he could.

Poor man,” Aphrodite said. “It's not like he needs Viagra, either.”

Are you going to help him?”

Of course. As soon as I figure out how.”

Ana & Jennifer's House: Jennifer explained about Nick standing by her during her operation and treatments. Johnny finally told her about what happened. This upset her.

Lascuráin Mansion: Sebastián came down to the dining room to the usual false cheeriness
Isabruja was becoming infamous for. Diego followed and took his seat at his brother's right.
As they exchanged a few standard greetings one of the twins carefully placed a plastic spider into Isabruja's soup bowl. Which she caught with the first pass of the spoon.

She jumped up from the table and began screaming.
Yolanda became dismissive, Nando curious, Diego amused, Luz delighted, Fernando irritated.
He got up from the table and headed toward the kitchen calling for Manuela. Manuela and Bruno ran in to see what was going on, Ana behind them.

Nobody seemed to notice that the twins were capturing this on a digital video camera. Ana and Manuela looked carefully, Ana saying something like “Pobrecito.”

Manuela asked if she might handle the soup and she carefully pulled out the spider.
More screams from Isababy and one or two from Ana this time.
Manuela looked at the spider and made the announcement: “It's plastic.”

The gods were laughing.

Very clever, Hermes! Are you planning to recruit them?”

Not for a while, Aphrodite. They thought of that one on their own. Three golden apples says they're going to post the video on Facebook.”
Of course, it took Ana and Fernando all of a nanosecond to realize who the pranksters were. They stared at the twins for a second and one of them held up the camera to record Fernando telling them they were going to be punished severely for this.
He then ordered the three youngest kids to go up to their rooms. Alicia looked sullen.
Fernando then told the children that before they left the room they were to apologize to Isabella. Isabruja – who recovered miraculously from her little ordeal – said it wasn't necessary. However, Fernando was implacable.
Ana gave the boys a look and they apologized in unison. Isamentira thanked them and said now she thought it was quite funny. Nonetheless Fernando sent the three youngest up to their rooms, then told Ana he expected her to have a strong talk with them.
“They are to show my wife unconditional respect,” he said. Ana knew in that moment that this was a bad omen.

Oh, no. He's really sealed it now,” said Hera. “He just handed her his cojones on a gold platter.”

And his children's heads,” said Aphrodite. “We have to protect them.”

You will take the children up to their rooms?”

Yes, sir,” Ana said as she left with the children.

The adults sat down again. Isabruja declined Manuela's offer to bring her another bowl of soup. After Manuela and Bruno left Isabruja said to Fernando in her Cajoling Voice that he shouldn't punish the children.
He told her that they need to learn that actions have consequences. Fortunately his cell phone interrupted. He stepped outside the dining room to take the call.
It was Fanny at the office reminding him that he had an appointment with Enrique Basurto the following day at six. When he returned to the table he mentioned this to Isabruja who at first seemed a little ill at ease.
She finally said that he was a total professional. Fernando said that since she recommended him he expected that.

Ana & Jennifer's House: Johnny was now up to date on Ana's situation. He speculated that he could get her back now that the knight on the white horse married another woman. Jennifer said she thought not because now there is Fernando's brother and he's handsome. “Not handsomer than me.”

He's been worshipping Dionysus again, hasn't he?”

Chicago Club: Diego paid a call on Doroteo. He asked how much money Ana owed him because he wanted to pay off her debt.

You outdid yourself with this absolutely fantastic recap.
The screen shots were incredible and told the whole story!

You captured each scene at just the right moment.

Wonderful!

UA thanks so much for your wonderful recap. The pics, the gods, and your take on the tn nicely flowed together.

Since things in the household are rather nightmarish (unless you are the brujas), the highpoint for me was Diego wanting to pay off Ana's debt. And Johnny's delusion about him being better looking than Diego was so insane I found it funny.

I know Leon has really become a problem when our Diana states he is dead to her. I don't enjoy the writers giving us two men, who we are supposed to want to pull for, but due to their overwhelming stupidity you just can't. And as Aphrodite noted, Fer may be hot but wimpyness and lack of spine are not attractive no matter how good you look. Leon's problem would be over if he would just confess and he'll just have to take the consequences of Fanny leaving.

I'm also concerned because the Leon plot seems to just bring out the worst in he and his wife. He is loathsome for lying to Fanny and his wife is unhinged if she thinks her "husband" would just start up where they left off after she abandoned him and took their child.

Thanks for your great work, Jardinera.

Thank you very much, UA, for your amazing recap. I love the gods' commentaries and your notice of Giambologna's sculpture of Mercury/Hermes!

But on to last-night's dualities . . .

*Poor Xime actually suffers from bipolar disorder.

*Isabruja creates her own bipolar disorder by her duplicity.

*Fernan-duh merits his own award for double standards: "Only I am allowed to mess around with employees on company time, Diego."

*The twins - to whom I shall refer as Hermes and Mercury - got off to a great start. I hope the spider is the first of many such pranks.

Have a great day, All!

It's been a popular theatre and movie cliche for centuries, but identical twins have endless opportunities for pranks. It was particularly clever of the casting director to find a pair who are this cute because it would otherwise be intolerable. They also look like they could be JS's kids.

They're almost like kittens and puppies who get into mischief but their cuteness makes you forgive them quickly. Hence, we (and the gods) laugh at their antics.

The fortunate thing is that smart ones get tired of this after a while and want to be individuals recognized for themselves rather than as half of a pair.

Isabitch's dualities are deliberate. Her asking Fernando not to punish the twins and Luz (who is their cheerleader) is strategic. She is showing him her best side while abusing the servants when he is nowhere in sight. The one clue he will have to that is her mother's behavior. We have to hope that at some point they will be overheard arguing about this or some related thing.

As for Leon, he's in the doghouse with me over not telling Fanny the truth. However, Tamara is definitely not an innocent victim in the situation and she is definitely going to cause trouble for him and Fanny.

More later.

Urban, what a fun read this a.m.! Thanks!

Even though Ana has stayed, she does not let Fernando talk around the facts and sticks it to him every chance she gets. That gives me hope for her in this untenable situation.

I laughed so hard when Bruno told Ana that "easy come, easy go Manuela" was "boiling over " for Johnny. Ana then said you know how she is that she was just "jariosa" (hot to trot) . Luz asked what "jariosa" was so Ana says "jarocha " meaning she is from Veracruz.

Of course the twins were at their best with the plastic spider in the soup. Silly but entertaining which brings me to Johnny. The whole Johnny subplot is far too sad and pathetic to be a part of the same show. From a terrorized and beaten Johnny to a plastic spider in the soup. Makes the head spin.

At least Diego wants to pay off Ana's debt.

Jarifa

Something tells me, though, that Doroteo either won't let him or he will quote double the amount of money (or more) to try to put him off. For him money isn't just currency, it's control.

Also, since Pablo Montero never seems to get through a novela without being beaten badly at least once, I'm sure the non-Don will do this. If not now, then later.

Pulled out the thesaurus and tried to find all the words I could find for AMAZING! Since there were well over a dozen, consider every of them yours UA. Pictures to boot! The gods are pleased and so are we.

Not a whole lot to "like" about this episode. Though I get there needs to be discipline with the kids because honestly, I would have had something to say to those twins myself for their continued pranks, Fer is sliding down the slippery slope of losing what gains he made with the kids for going back to the stern, by the rules parent. Address the behavior, because it does need to be done, but don't link everything to this need to like Isa at this point. Doing that, he'll never win.

And maybe Tamara is a delusional beyotch in the making, but Leon is still wrong about not fessing up to Fanny. Just do it!! He's going to have to at some point because there is that adorable little cherub with the blond locks to explain.

And speaking of delusional. Really?? We have to watch Johny right back where we left him trying to worm his way back into Ana's life and "win" her back?? Really?? Excuse me while I leave my Diego table to go hit my head against the dart board wall.

And if Fer doesn't tell the Lemon Drop to shut the hell up, it's his face that will be on said dart board soon. Bruno should not have to take that...none of them should. (And I see a uniform in Manuela's future---this should be good).

Not getting the Ximena plot, but maybe this is a PSA in the making. Bi-polar seems an odd topic in a comedy, so they better treat it with the seriousness it deserves.

I don't think Ana is going to like Diego helping her. Her pride won't allow it.

Daisynjay

The bipolar thing would explain her promiscuity. She may only just be old enough for meds for this; psychiatric meds are not good for teens and often have the opposite effect on them.

The other issue with some of these meds is that they blur a lot of things and the patient feels mentally sluggish. Which could explain Ximena's motive for getting Nando to do her homework for her.

I agree that Ana won't like Diego's attempt at paying her debt. It might feel like an obligation she doesn't want to pay in a different currency. She is sure to turn him down. If he's smart he'll point out that getting free of Doroteo would put her out of the danger that Isabitch will find out about that connexion. We know that will have to happen sooner or later and it will be as ugly as the writers can make it for this series.

Again, awesome

“I know,” said Hermes. “You told me everything I need to know. Just watch what the boys are going to do. I didn't have to teach them a thing. They're naturals.”

and the incorporation of the statute “Wow; that was Giambologna's statue of me in that house! I wonder who the trickster is there?” Hermes said.

Well the rigid pole Fernando is acting just as expected. The more control he he loses because of his decisions the more strict and inflexible he becomes and he justifies it by claiming ownership. Mine, mine, mine. He is not a man but a self programed machine.

Alicia - so very, very sad

Isabela - happy wife, happy life

Twins - we ain't done

Luz - he'll force you too

Diego - buy her freedom or the indenture

Nando - if a professional can't fix it neither can you

Fernando - I love you rings hollow

Juan - ever heard of shrinkage

Yolanda - repeat it enough and it becomes true

Tamara - you can't make me

Ana - sic em, I'll watch

Urban, I've always enjoyed your recaps immensely, but Mi Corazon has brought our your marvelous humor and I have to say that you are constantly outdoing yourself.

The screen shots, Aphrodite and Hera discussing amongst themselves, and your wry humor all come together perfectly.

“If only they could hear us,” Hera said. “But some mortals will be foolish in spite of themselves.” Wise words indeed.

I never thought I would enjoy the simple childish hijinx here but I am soaking them up. The spider was so predictable, but I laughed and enjoyed every second.

It's interesting that when Jen was ill, she confided in Johnny. We saw that he does indeed care about her and it was Jen whom he told what had happened to him. I'm not saying he was (is?) a bad guy with a somewhat slanted view of the fact he is "all that" :), but I see him changing. No one should have to have gone through what he did.

Fer continues to disappoint. As Karen noted "things in the household are rather nightmarish (unless you are the brujas)". Yes!the Your house is in chaos. Take charge man and get your house in order. Your children need you!

I like Diego more every episode. I'm really hoping Ana will give him a chance.

Loathsome Leon continues to lie by omission. Another whose house is in disarray. Fanny deserves to be told the truth! If he doesn't tell her (which I'm sure he won't),she will be even more heartbroken when she learns the truth from someone else. Anvils swaying in the breeze.

UA, this was fantastic! Thank you.

Diana

Urban A:

Holy Terrors-ific take on the twins' prank and the pics flowed with the commentary so very smoothly!

Some of my favs from your recap:

"Hissabela was gloating the whole time when Fernando played through the second act of “Wait 'till Your Father Gets Home.”

“If only they could hear us,” Hera said. “But some mortals will be foolish in spite of themselves.”

Isabully/Hissabela

"as Ximena came down the stairs looking like a younger version of Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire" -- She certainly looked a mess. Had to laugh at such a purr-fect descriptor. Meow!

UA I just love your take on this tn. I confess to reading all of my kids Rick Riordan books (all steeped in mythology) as soon as they come in the door and this reminds me of them. So clever of you!

Daisynjay, I'm totally with you about the bipolar business being in a comedy. It was so painful to hear that last night-- painful for both characters. How does Nando deal with this one? Mental illness is so important and it's so important that the stigma is broken wherever and whenever, but this is certainly a very heavy introduction to a "light" story.

Was anyone else bothered by the scene with Isabruja and Manuela? For her to talk that way to Manuela in front of Alicia, who should have been shocked and appalled and possibly afraid of Isa, but then left the kitchen with her arm and arm? Huh?! That child has been in more serious need of affection than we realized! Manuela has been in her life for 8 years, Isa comes in and about a month later, Alicia is watching her humiliate a woman who she presumably cares about and who certainly cares for her? No, I was not ok with that scene!

Things better change quickly! Hera? A little help here?

Rebecca

UA--Most awesome recap yet! And I want to hire Hera and Aphrodite as my life coaches, do they do house calls? Or just hover overhead? I hope they stick around for the whole show and beyond.

Yolanda as the Lemondrop...too funny! However she continues to irritate more than amuse. Leon's troubled sneer is getting more angry; Fanny needs to get a clue except that she hasn't seen him since the wedding. Go Twins! I loved that only Manuela had the nerve to daintily pull the spider out of the soup. There's only one thing missing in the mansion: a big romping dog with dirty paws. Don't know how the writers forgot that one.

UA, have to run to the rest of my meeting but had to say you had me laughing out loud at work (embarrassing, not!... we are fairly casual here)
with the following:

Yolanda entered, yelling for the “waiter” to show up and kiss her culo. (that was HISTERICAL!!)
...
Three golden apples says they're going to post the video on Facebook.”
“He just handed her his cojones on a gold platter.”

a couple notes... at the end of their conversation Fernando suggested he would help Sebas with his homework adn Sebas sort of smirked it off 'dad... if only' (meaning he did not expect Fernando to follow through with that)... that is when Sebas walked out crying and Fer stayed there crying.
When Fernando came out and talked to Ana he noticed that she asked 'what are WE going to do about Sebas?' he was pleased that she referred to 'US' dealing with Sebas, and that is when she corrected him saying 'US' dealing with the kids was the only thing they had in common anymore.
Fernando mentioned it to Ana and she replied 'wow!! about time...' right before he brought up the Diego being interested in her and she said that was no longer his business since he married ISa.

It was so funny that Ana was serving Bruno as her coach in 'go for Manuela if you care about her so much... oh... that is right, you have a problem with romantic relationships... ' and then she was complimenting his looks as better than Johnny's to give him some encouragement and fuel to make the move on Manuela.

will have to read the comments at lunch time... again, AMAZING job, UA!! loved it...

Urban:

I reread your recap this morning and still am in awe of your screen shots which reflected each actor's expression so perfectly. From the first one of Fernando manhandling Sebas to the last one of gangster Doro with his chunky diamond ring!

This episode just reinforced my seat at the "Diego" table. However, from what they show on the preview shots between commercials and the fact that Diego's old girlfriend, Natalie, is listed on the credits, I take it we are in for Ana catching Diego kissing Natalie in the library/home office.

I so don't want Diego to break Ana's heart.

Rebecca, that was a great point about the kitchen scene. Alicia should have been appalled at this.

What I am hoping for is whether or not Alicia figures out that Isabully has been faking her "helpfulness" she turns out to be a kind of double agent. She had to have been in Ana's corner before this and I can't see her ignoring Ana's role in her life. She's not a stupid girl and she did like the idea of Nando getting together with Brianna (who is the right girl for him).

At any rate, if Isabitch fulfills an earlier prophesy of arranging a gross humiliation for Alicia at her quince then Alicia will know she was set up for it. Of course, this could be one step in what I think is Isabruja's master plan to get rid of all her stepchildren so she can isolate Fernando and ride roughshod over him.

Someone brought up the issue of pre-nups before and no, there hasn't been any scene involving a lawyer or any discussion of this. This gives me a sense of foreboding.

BTW, Enrique Basurto is Lisardo's character, so we will be seeing him soon. Based on how he looks in the title sequence I suspect he will be up to no good.

I too was appaled by the Manuela/Isa/Alicia scene and how Alicia was 'easing on down the road' with Isa at the end of it... like you all said, Manuela has been in Alicia's life since almost when she was born... and Isa comes in and barates Manuela in front of her and Alicia doesn't even smirk disgust/fear?

also, can't wait for Enrique to make his entrance... and join in the fun...

wouldn't it be fun if Isa still had feelings for Enrique and he, too, got smitten by Ana?? aw the possibilities...

Thanks, UA! Terrific recap, and those screenshots are perfect. I especially like Luz's expressions. Good catch on the Hermes statue, too!

I was suprised Isabully didn't simply say to Fer "why should you worry about discipline? Pretty soon the kids will all be in boarding school and it will be someone else's problem"

Can't believe Manuela has to make like five different dinners every night to suit everyone's whims. But she makes it look easy.

Alicia's bruja internship seems to be going full speed ahead. Sigh. Pretty soon she'll be echoing Isa's nastiness and I hope it happens in front of Fer.

Wished Diego or Ana had called Fer on his double standards. "No fraternizing with employees during work hours, you say? Did you or did you not knock up your employee Isabruja during a WORK TRIP?!"

Yomama is going to find herself locked up in a mental institution if she doesn't rein in her behavior a bit. Perhaps Manuela should spice up those martinis with tranquilizers so they can all have some peace.

Does anyone remember if Don Nico has his own apartment? If not that might mean that Jenny moves into the Mansion for a while and really shakes things up!! Wouldn't she be "La Patrona" since Don Nico is the Senior Lascuráin?

Has anyone ever seen Lisardo play anything other than a villain? He is so good with the antagonist role.

Nico was getting his own apartment when he asked Jennys to live with him before. I don't know if he went through with that/kept it when she declined. But even if he does still have it, I hope she will end up moving in to the mansion for some reason. Renovations, exterminators, real estate shenanigans, whatever it takes.

Thanks UA, you keep outdoing yourself each week. Great job.
I agree with you about the twin boys. They are very handsome kids, and it does make their antics a bit easier to take, although that's completely unfair and I know it is.

I love that Diego offered to pay Ana's debt. I hope Doroteo took him up on it before Ana finds out.

At least Isa was embarrassed by YoMama's behavior at dinner. But that Alicia seems to accept the way Isa talks to the help makes me think that Alicia is going to adopt a very snobby attitude herself. First, with telling Ana that she doesn't want to be called Lichi anymore.

I wish Ana would set aside her pride long enough to let Diego pay off the debt. Much better to be in debt to Diego than to inoDoroteo.

I have no use for plotlines involving the thugs at Chicago, and I want them to go away. We have enough villainy with the brujas in the house.

Hate it but UA accurately mentions Alicia as Isabela's mini-me complete with facial expressions and exit of a room. I get it, Fernando obviously was not involved much with any of the kids, Ana's attention spread thin and Isabela makes her center of attention. Dupe Fernando, stomp on Ana but leave the kid alone, she'll be in therapy for years.

Is Fernando afraid of Isabela or something because he will not deny her anything, remaining quiet despite Yomama's continued slight of Bruno with Isabela in the room? Sick of him pulling, but you know I love you, on any of the kids that mention their distaste of Isabela and I laughed when he cried and asked himself what have I done. Good question Fernando, but answer it.

The cowardly lion is on my last nerve and withhold judgement of Tamara.

Cowardly Lion needs to visit the Wizard. Idiot. Dude, you're losing Fanny anyway due to your shadiness and lies. May as well tell her the truth before Tamara does it for you in some spectacularly awful way that could end with your getting fired.

I was glad he finally did SOMETHING (telling Tamara he was moving out and wants a divorce), but it was not nearly enough. Why is Beatriz covering for him? She should be telling him to just be honest already?

Is Isa planning to go back to work, or does she intend for Enrique to take over her job so she can be a pampered lazy queen bee 24/7?

UA, this was an amazing and delightful recap. Loved having so many screen caps and details, since I kept sneaking over to Dancing with the Stars.

You and the goddesses have really hit your stride in this one. So many characters to share in the mischief and the pain.

I'm looking forward to Lisardo showing up. The fact that he was "recommended" by Isabiackstabber either indicates she is being blackmailed by said Enrique and is helping him worm his way in to the business( baby daddy willing to shut up) or she is thinking Fer could sell off the business for a gazillion dollars and they can just throw the kids at Ana and take off for parts unknown and live the high life. Awful of me to say I'm not feeling sorry for Fer right now...but if this was Nico's business, than yeah. I'll be ticked he lost that too over this brawd.

I think Alicia is wide-eyed at what she sees Isa doing, but for someone who has horrid self-esteem, she is just drinking in the possibility of being just like Isa in looks and talent, let alone getting what she thinks is the affections of a classy woman-mother figure. I can see why she's possibly either going to emulate her and get bitchy herself trying to "fit in" with Isa, or she will be heartbroken soon in realizing she was a pawn. Bless her, I DO NOT want to have her overhear Isa making fun of her. I'll slap the writers silly if the do that. Every one of the younger kids, Alicia on down, took their mothers passing to heart in their own way and have acted out. Fanny may have outgrown her anger over Nanny's and Nando coming out his shell, but the younger kids still need guidance and love. It won't be funny to watch them be hurt AGAIN. No amount of Fer's pardons will make me root for him if he sees that and allows that to happen.

Thanks, UA, this was excellent.

I'm not really lurking... There didn't appear to be a Johnnys table on the patio but I found a rickety lawn chair by the dumpster and a Holly Hobby tv tray. Back in the shadows, gray haired woman, that's me.

Excellent recap!!!!!

Add a place at the Diego table for me!

Fer seems to be the bipolar of the group. He says one thing, acts another, feels hurt, then rages. He takes all of his frustrations out on Ana and the kids when he brought everything on himself.

The previews do look like he sits the kids down to try to get through to them. Maybe he will convince them to give Isa a chance. Which is just placing the meat in the mouth of the lioness.

Julia:

Bruja Menor has her cake and gets to enjoy it too. No way is la Senora Las going to grovel and work like a 'naca', which will give her more time to humiliate Ana.

As saintly as Fanny Sr. supposedly was, I think she failed her children greatly in one respect. Fer seems to believe that before she died, there were no problems. Which of course only means that she took care of all the problems with the kids herself and let him think everything was bliss. Ergo, Fer never had to develop any parenting skills. Why did Fannymama do this? Control freak? Martyr? Bizarrely old-fashioned?

Because Fer was the same man he is now. A workaholic, straight-laced and by the book. We know that from Deigo. He still struggles with other's weaknesses or a desire to do something outside the "norm" (think Sebas and his dancing". Recognizing this, maybe she figured it was best to let him think things were fine and raise the children without too much of his judgmental attitude. And he was more than fine with that apparently. Didn't pick up he was in any way a hands-on parent during any of those kid's lives. Loved them, but didn't get involved with their day to day lies. Face it, he didn't even have breakfast with them until Ana came along. Fanny Sr. though was the loving, most likely all over everything mom who got involved in everything they did. made it especially hard for those kids to lose her, and asking Fer to step in with the Seb or any who needed help, he didn't have a clue. As Sebas pointed out...make the promise, don't carry through.

UA - What a delightful recap and the screen shots are absolutely perfect! We are blessed with very talented and witty recap experts.

My favorite scene was when the twins were making a video of Fernando's reactions. It captured precisely the fun that kids have when they prompt an out-of-control moments from their parents. My sister and I, much better behaved on a bad day than the twins, could not contain our giggles when our father started to fulminate in a particular way.

J in Oregon, I laughed out loud when you mentioned the missing big, sloppy dog. Yes, everything else is here for a kind of Cheaper by the Dozen laced with an evil step-mother. Where is Eugene Levy when we need him?

Lisardo played a wonderful and good character in a novela called Palabra de Mujer. It was on during the day and starred Yadhira Carillo, one of my favorites, Edith Gonzalez and Ludwiga P. I loved it, though it was not popular in Mexico or the US.

I continue to think that Nico and Jennifer are the moral centers of this novela. They both talk sense! I hope that they manage to survive as a couple and have some influence on the proceedings.

I think it's odd that such a loving mother wouldn't have wanted her children to have a closer relationship with their father all along. I really believe one loving parent is enough, but if the other parent is RIGHT THERE, they shouldn't be so distanced from the kids. Fer may be a straight-laced workaholic by nature, but in twenty years I would think he would have been tempered somewhat if there had been effort to get him to change, especially by his beloved wife.

And I noticed last night that FERNANDO cannot tell the twins apart! Their own father! I still wish Ana would make an effort at that, too.

Emilia, I'm not a huge fan of Johnnys but you can't help but feel sorry for his poor clueless self. The scene of him crying off all his shaving creme in the shower was just too much. So if you dust off your table back there by the dumpster I may join you once in awhile. My question is, are the writers invested in pairing up everyone at the end? If so, we don't want to write Johnnys off tooo quickly...

UA: thanks for the detailed recap with the added extra pleasure of the Goddesses and Hermes chiming in. By the end of this TN, we’ll have the whole Pantheon involved.

A few comments I didn'’ get to make yesterday:

Victoria: in my house we would have gotten in big trouble for talking back or disrespecting an adult. BIG TROUBLE. However, I will give Sebes a pass for that. Times have changes. But I can’t excuse the phone throwing though. That’s a violent gesture and definitely unacceptable in my eyes.

Jardinera: thank you. Glad you liked the lists.

Carvivlie: I like your idea of Isa having a previous husband that she’s still married to.

Now for Monday’s ep:

Haven’t read all the comments yet, but wanted to get some thoughts in .

Did Sebes say it would be a miracle if he accepted Isa? I heard “milagro”

I was wondering the same thing Hera was. Why would Tamara want to be with Leon when he obviously can’t stand her?

Doubt that Doro will let Ana go. She’s too big a moneymaker for him. They come to Chicago to see her.

I was almost afraid to watch this ep because of what happened between Isa and Ana on Friday. Was so afraid the writers were going to have Isa torment Ana in every ep like she did on Friday's.

Nanette

Mama Fanny did say that Sebastian would be the child who would take her loss the hardest. He is the middle-middle child.

While Fernando has the right to remake his life after Big Fanny's death, he was tone deaf to marry Isameanperson and bring her into the house. I realize he's doing it for Baby #8 but that was irresponsible of him to bring this lady around his kids, knowing his kids didn't like her.

Not only did Fer know his kids didn't like her, he knew they had reason, because she is NOT a lovely person and he has seen this firsthand. He's seen it when she was so rude to Leon when he delivered documents in the restaurant, he's seen the childish tantrum Isa threw in the other restaurant when they ran into Ana and Johnny, he's seen how she refused to work when they were on a business trip, he's seen how she babytalks and condescends to everyone, he's seen how she refused to respect the boundaries he tried to set and kept sliming all over him until he finally gave in, etc. etc. And he is willing to have this influence around his children?!

Julia don't forget Fernando said "NO" when Isabruja proposed marriage to him.

Nanette, i think Sebes said it would be a miracle if Fernando did follow through on being home to help Sebes with his homework.

and when Fernando mentioned that promise to Ana she replied stte of : 'that would be a first!' or 'now we are getting somewhere!' (don't remember which one)

Leon told Tamara that he would go live with his mom and she could have the 'boarding house room'. Does anyone else think like I am... this sounds like Fanny will end up visiting his room and get the surprise/news of her life!!

And remember how Isa treated the staff at the hacienda (Malinalco?) when they were there 'to work'.

Fer must be totally blind to not see so many obvious signs on the wall.... but he won't see them if he ran into the wall himself.
It won't be until he sees Isa take it on one of his children directly in his face that he might notice... and then again it has come close (Isa bragging to Fanny at office about wedding in 3 wks...) and Isa going to try to solve Nico's problem by 'buying out' Jennifer... if only he were there in the bathroom in their conversation in the hospital.

UA,you put the comedy back in this TN. Pure talent, thanks a lot. The writers have to make up their minds. Is this light or dark comedy. I sure haven't had a lot to laugh about lately. Fer sucks at fatherhood. Granted, Fanny senior took care of everything, but dud she is dead. wake up and get over yourself already. Oh! that's right, he is dead to me. Sab breaks my heart, poor tortured kid. Diego, man of the hour!!

Hanna

Fernando is definitely the cliche of the father who is clueless about being a parent. In the opening when he coddled Luz and talked about reading her stories I had high hopes for him. But -- as in most TNs -- as soon as Ana began making progress getting him on track Isabitch derailed him.

If we buy everything Diego said about his own childhood we can see that Fernando is a lot like Nicolas was when they were kids. No stepmother in their lives, so what happened? Did they have an aunt or a much older cousin? Were they sent away to school?

Fernando would have been Fanny or Nando's age at the time, so probably no need for a mother figure for him. I'll bet Fanny Sr was a lot like Nick's wife in taking care of the house and kids while husband earned the dinero.

Isabruja probably wants to become the standard RichBitch wife who can do as she pleases all day while the husband rakes in the money she is going to spend.

That first credit card bill is about due by now. How much does anyone want to bet that it will be three times what Fernando thinks it will be (not including the wedding stuff)?

Marta: thanks for the clarification and I love the idea of Isa having feelings for Enrique who falls for Ana!

They need to introduce a new character for Fan. The REAL love of her life.

I'm one of the few Fer fans, but even I'm was fed up last night. Stop making googly eyes at Ana!! It's not fair!!!

Julia - I like your witty note about Alicia's bruja internship with Isabella, but I hope it doesn't come to pass. Hera and Aprodite, keep Alicia from the dark side!

Also, Julia, you're right. Why CAN'T Fernando tell his twins apart?

Daisynjay - I also am eager for Lisardo to arrive on the scene. Are he and Isabruja in cahoots? Is this whole we-had-sex-and-I'm-pregnant-so-you-must-marry-me marriage an elaborate scheme to stage a corporate coup?

I don't think Fernando has spent enough time with the kids to be able to tell the twins apart. It's also clever of the writers to make them this age because they will have lost most of their baby teeth by now. Since most twins probably don't lose them simultaneously that would be a way of telling them apart.

Of course, that should have happened and he should know them apart by now.

As a side note, I once saw a talk show on the subject of identicals. There was a set of identical triplets who not only finished each other's sentences (creepy enough) but said that since their parents couldn't tell them apart when they were born they had their butts tattooed so they could.

I would definitely not like that.

I know we're not even a quarter way through, but some people have been wanting a Diego/Ana hookup at the end, even though TN tradition says that won't happen. I thought about this awhile back and came up with an alternate ending. I don't think I posted it yet. Here goes.

Ana and Diego marry. She does not love him, but learns to love him. Isa rides off in the sunset with or without Enrique and Fer is left alone, finally close with his kids and happy to be raising them, but sad that he lost Ana.

Bittersweet ending.

Not likely because anything short of a happy ending is the kiss of death for future ratings.

This was not likely true in the pre-digital age, but now that people in other countries can get spoilers anything resembling a less than happy ending will be a real downer for most viewers.

UA: I agree. This isn't my preferred ending. I'm a happy ending kinda gal. The ending I posted would be an alternate universe kind of ending. "In a world gone mad."
