Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #51 10/27/14 Damage Control

It's almost Halloween! I wanted to share this website with some incredibly carved pumpkins and other vegetables. This is an acorn squash:

On to the Recap!

Old:
Alexa and Armie leave Alexa's movie star paraphernalia in a pile. She watches sadly as others pick it up.

New:
At the factory Chava stops Araceli from talking to Sofia. He'd prefer to talk to Sofia first to see if she's still upset. Araceli claims that Sofia is jealous of her. Chava doesn't believe that Sofia has any reason to be jealous. Araceli says, "Just wait, I'll prove it."

Greta talks to Fausto about Dani, who is her only daughter that wasn't corrupted by Octavio's influence. Nice way to talk about your dead husband, lady. Fausto thinks that Greta encouraged Dani's free spirit by encouraging her to follow her heart. Fausto, are you sure you're talking about the Greta we know? Greta the prison warden?

Lucas visits Dani's office and says that if she has to fire someone, it should be him and not Marisol. Dani says she isn't going to fire anyone. Mainly because that's not her area. Well nevertheless, Lucas tells Dani that they can't be together. I predict he'll be back again in about an hour to tell her the same thing.

Silvana says news of the chocolate formula scandal and the lawsuit has the press ringing the phones off the hook. Pato thinks Sofia should call a press conference. Sofia refuses to do a press conference because all those reporters will ask biased questions. So I guess it's not just the American press that has a bias problem. It would be better to do an interview with just one credible reporter. Apparently Mexico has one. That's one more than America has. Sofia tells Silvana to set up an interview with Paola Rojas.

Paco and Lupe clean windows together. Lupe' likes Araceli because she helps other people the same way Chava does. Paco tells Lupe' he likes her and enjoys her company. She says, "Back at you." He looks puzzled. "I don't know what that phrase means."

Do you know what the phrase "Friends with Benefits" means?

Alexa thanks Armie for his help. She feels much better now that her life isn't filled with lies and fakery. And Alan the Cockroach. Greta asks if she can talk to Armie privately.

That dress is almost as big a train wreck as Alexa's makeup.

Irma cleans the house and dusts around the family pictures. The picture of Irma, Armie and Nandito falls to the floor. Irma picks it up and cuts her hand with the glass. She hugs the picture close to her and cries.

Greta thanks Armie for helping Alexa, "You're a good and kind man. And a good father. Nandito is a great kid and very handsome." Greta laments what happened to her daughters. "I guess we don't really know our kids. How much of our memories are true?" Well maybe if you weren't so gestapo your daughters wouldn't be afraid to tell you the truth.  Greta tells Armie that she trusts him. Armie says that the most important thing for children is to know they are loved.

Armando. Just because.

Fausto and Alexa talk about Nandito. She can't wait to see him again. Meantime, Nandito is practicing his moves at his Tae Kwon Do lesson. At home, Irma sleeps next to the picture.

Sofia does an interview and defends her father and the Ripoll Chocolate factory. "The article contains no research and no proof of the allegations. Ripoll believes in honest and fair competition. While other companies are closing or are in decline, we've been able to hire more workers."
"So you're saying the article is a lie?"
"They just want to hurt us."

Paco and Lupe' listen to Sofia's interview on the radio. He is upset about the all the publicity. He didn't want this to happen, all he wants is to put this behind him and forget it as soon as possible. Lupe' thinks that Sofia's interview will shut down the bad press. "She was strong and self-assured. Here in the neighborhood, they say she gets that from her father."

At the factory, Chava and some of the employees are gathered around a table listening to the interview. They believe that Sofia is telling the truth. Matias defends Maestro Coria. Chava clears his throat and takes Matias aside. "Do you know where Martin Coria got the inspiration for his recipes?"
"No. He never talked about the past or his ideas. He was a very mysterious man."

Maybe his muse was Betty Crocker.

Dani and her friend talk about the scandal, the interview and how Sofia took care of everything. They talk about Lucas and boys in general. Annette wishes she had a working class guy to skip school with. Greta overhears and demands to know who Dani skipped classes with.

Lucas gets a call from Manjarres. He pressures Lucas to come and work with him again. Lucas refuses and tells Manjarres not to call him again.

Greta lectures Dani about Alexa's bad experience with Alan the Cockroach. Greta demands to know all about Lucas. "Where does he live? Who are his parents?" Dani says there are a bunch of reasons why she hasn't told Greta much about Lucas; the biggest reason is that his family doesn't have much money. Lucas is working class. Greta keeps pushing her and finally Dani says, "Lucas is Miguelina's grandson."
"WHAT?!" Greta looks like she's just been told the dinner wine has always come from a box.

Silvana and Pato congratulate Sofia on her interview. Sofia believes it's very important to communicate Ripoll's side of the story. She asks Pato to send out a memo to all their clients. After Pato leaves, Sofia tells Silvana that she's glad to be working with her best friend. "Your parents and brother in heaven must be so proud of you." Silvana remembers back to when she and her brother found their mother's dead body. Sofia asks about the circumstances surrounding the "accident" that killed them. Silvana doesn't want to talk about it. Sofia understands. They hug.

You'll get yours my pretty!

In the lobby, Pato accuses Chava of colluding with Araceli and Paco. "You're all looking forward to counting the Ripoll money together, aren't you?"
Chava asks Pato if he'd like a re-match of their fight. "Just pick the day and time and a construction site a little farther away".
Pato taunts, "Your days at the company are numbered, Cruz."
"In that case, I'll have to make the most of them."

Greta demands to know why Miguelina never told her that the boy Dani was dating was Miguelina's grandson. Miguelina says she just found out herself and thought that Dani and Lucas should be the ones to tell. Greta accuses Miguelina of fortune hunting and coaching her grandson to trap Dani for her money. Miguelina denies it. "When Lucas found out who Dani was, he was the one who ended it." Greta calls them both criminals. Miguelina defends herself, "You have no reason to talk to me like that. I may be poor, but I am honest and I work hard."  Greta sneers. "Don't tell me about the dignity of the poor!" At last we know why Paco didn't waste his time going after Greta. She fires Miguelina on the spot.

Chava tells Sofia, "Paco is a good, honest man. He only told me about the recipes because he was hurting."
"So you're on his side?"
"I'm on the side of justice."
Sofia accuses Chava of having a conflict of interest because he is working for the company that his girlfriend is suing. Chava tells her again, "Araceli is not my girlfriend, she's my ex-girlfriend"
"Well maybe you're confused about the difference between ex-girlfriend and girlfriend."
Chava offers to explain the difference. "An ex can become either a friend or nothing. But a girlfriend becomes everything."

He takes Sofia's hand and places it on his heart. "She makes your heart beat fast." He puts his arms around Sofia, "Embraces you in despair and gives you...." Once again he catches himself and pulls away, "There I go again, talking too much."
Sofia tells Chava he's not supposed to be at the office. She gave him the day off. She asks Chava to leave, then fans herself after the door closes.

Armie comes home and calls for Nandito. There is no answer. He finds Irma crying in the bedroom. "What's wrong? Has something happened to Nandito?"
Irma confesses that she forgot to pick him up from Tae Kwon Do.

Fausto pleads with Greta to change her mind; she's made a terrible mistake by firing Miguelina. Greta tells him to mind his own business. Miguelina is gone. It's done. Greta warns him to leave her alone and stomps upstairs. Dani comes out of the kitchen and asks where Miguelina is. Fausto says, "Your mother fired her."

Chava and Araceli talk outside Paco's store. Araceli thinks that Paco is avoiding her. Chava doesn't blame him since all Araceli does is yell and badger Paco. Pato pulls up just across the street with Sofia in the car. He points to Chava and Araceli, "There's your loyal worker." Araceli spots them and moves closer to Chava. She grabs him and kisses him hard on the lips.

Araceli marks her territory.

Pato smiles, "Look what Cruz is doing with our enemy. He's having a good time."
Chava tries to pull away but Araceli holds her lip-lock. He finally manages to get free, "QTH, Araceli?" Araceli apologizes and hugs him tight.
Pato rubs it in, "They're back together."
Sofia fumes, "It's not our problem."
Araceli lets Chava go and steps to the corner. She stares at Sofia. Chava finally sees the car and waves timidly at Sofia as Pato drives away.
Araceli smirks, "See? She's jealous. She thinks she owns you."

Armie calls the Tae Kwon Do studio but there is no answer. "How could you be so irresponsible, Irma? Nandito even left you a note!"
Irma apologizes. She fell asleep and she's had all these problems, it's just too much to think about! Armie tells her to go lay down. "I'll go pick up MY son."

Dani cries to Fausto, "It can't be true! Every time I tell the truth something bad happens. It's my fault Miguelina's gone." Fausto comforts her, "Your mother has committed a great injustice."

Lucas comes home to find Miguelina crying, "I was fired from my job." Lucas blames Dani but Miguelina tells him it was Greta who got upset. Lucas is going to confront that nasty bitch! He heads for the door. Miguelina tries to stop him and nearly collapses. Lucas helps her into a chair and then runs for the doctor.

Armie discovers that Nandito isn't at the Tae Kwon Do studio. The instructor saw him leave and assumed someone was picking him up. Armie heads out to search for his son.

Chava is upset, "You crossed the line, Araceli. Sofia thinks I'm on your side and Patricio is convinced that I want a cut of the lawsuit. I don't like your games. Stop it now."

Dani tries to talk to Greta about Miguelina and Lucas. Greta yells that Dani is too young to know what their intentions were. "They wanted money right away! Listen to the way you're talking to me! They are trying to turn you against your family. I don't want people like that around my family!"
"Mom, please, give Miguelina her job back! She needs it!"
Greta screams, "NO!"

Lucas asks the doctor, "Was it her blood pressure again?" The doctor nods and writes out an order for medical tests before he leaves. Lucas assures Miguelina that he'll take care of her. She pleads with him not to get involved in any more dirty businesses.

Dani tells Alexa what Greta did. Alexa sympathizes with her, "She meddles. She did the same thing to Sofia and me. I couldn't wait to be 21 and get out of here." Dani says, "I hate her. I'm going to run off." Dani asks if Alexa has heard the news about the factory. "Some guy is claiming that the chocolate formulas are his!" She explains that Sofia did a good job defending the company in her interview. Dani wants to know what Alexa's plans are and warns her, "Whatever you do, don't tell mom your plans."

Armie finds Nandito at a playground and wants to know why he ran off. Nandito thought that Armie didn't love him. Armie hugs him tight, "There is nothing more important in my life than you."

Chava and Araceli go to his house and find Lupe' and Paco together. Araceli wants to know why Paco didn't tell her where he was going. Paco growls, "Why are you trying to control my life? I don't have to tell you everything I do! When you were in Monterrey you went for months and months without ever calling me."
Araceli snaps back, "And you went for months and months without ever calling me! I think you were trying to avoid me!" Paco apologizes to Lupe and Chava. If Araceli wants to fight with Paco, she'll have to do it at home.

Fausto calls Miguelina and Lucas answers. Fausto asks to talk to Miguelina but Lucas tells him she's sleeping. She was so upset about losing her job that he had to get the doctor. Lucas has a few choice words for Greta. Fausto is taken aback and hangs up. Greta asks, "Who were you talking to?"
"A young man with a large vocabulary."

Marisol tells Chava and Lupe' about Lucas breaking up with Dani. "She did nothing but lie to him." Chava knows Dani and she isn't that kind of girl. Marisol yells at him. Lupe' tells her to shut it. Lupe' asks, "Now that Lucas is free are you going after him?"

Back at home, Sofia apologizes to Pato. She had a hard day and it wasn't fair to take it out on him. Pato tells her that she needs to fire Chava. Sofia insists that she trusts Chava. Pato says, "Trust makes you vulnerable."

End of Episode.

Advances:
Irma tells Armie the truth about Nandito!
Sofia shows up at Pato's apartment when he and Silvana are in the bedroom.

I told you that Greta was going to cause Miguelita to have a heart attack.

If Miguelita dies, Lucas will go Jake Ballard on Greta & Co.,

On Araceli: told y'all she's up to no good and she's edging into Marcela territory (red-head doctor from Por Siempre Mi Amor) and will up the ante with her evilness.

Meanwhile, Marisol is all but likely going to sleep with Lucas at some point and get pregnant.

Old Araceli sure fits the lawyer stereotype. NEVER EVER E V E R try to stay friends with an ex.

As was the case with Art's case when his psycho ex, Marcela went really overboard on Por Siempre Mi Amor.

Xint, I loved the carvings! What a fun way to start the day. My favorite was Georgia O'Keefe although they were all great.

The recap was stellar. Your screen shots were perfection. While the pictures speak for themselves, your captions had me laughing out loud. Inspired.

My way pared down list of favorites were "Fausto, are you sure you're talking about the Greta we know? Greta the prison warden?"; "Do you know what the phrase "Friends with Benefits" means?"; "That dress is almost as big a train wreck as Alexa's makeup" and "Maybe his muse was Betty Crocker".

Of all that happened last night, Greta's actions disturbed me the most. She sits down to tea with Armando, telling him what a wonderful man and father he is (oblivious to or ignoring the enamoured smiles worn by Alexa and Armando when she asked to talk to him). Yet, she verbally abuses Miguelina, ranting and raving and fires her! What a cruel, class conscious hypocrite. I even doubt she will feel the least responsible when she learns she caused Miguelina's illness. Of course she thinks she is above it all. Initially, I thought Fausto can fix this mess, but I really want Mig out of that house and working where she receives the affection and respect she deserves.

Lupe seems to have a blind spot where Araceli is concerned. Guess she's not privvy to Ara's little mind games with Sophia. Araceli had her chance and blew it. If she cared about Chava, she would be helping him in trying to win the love of his life, Sophia.

Ah Matias. Still sticking up for the master. How disenchanted he will be when he learns the truth.

I guess I haven't gone on my ususal rant about Lucas. Why oh why is so much storyline being given to this thieving oxygen waster? I hope Marisol realizes she is winning (actually losing) by default if she decides to pursue him.

Xint, this was a marvelously detailed recap. With your summary, conversation translations and screen shots, this would make a fabulous short story.

Thank you, thank you.

Diana

Fabulous recap, Xint!

This line made me laugh out loud at work - "So I guess it's not just the American press that has a bias problem. It would be better to do an interview with just one credible reporter. Apparently Mexico has one. That's one more than America has."

I especially liked what you titled the screencap of Silvana. OMG, you just captured that expression perfectly!

On the MCET forum, several people were discussing that PF is definitely going to leave and be replaced by David Zepeda. Do you all think that DZ will just become Chava? Who will sing the song? If it is true that PF's wife has a problem with him kissing MdelaS, didn't she think about this before he accepted the job? Unless he accepted it without asking her which is doubtful.

I don't think anyone will want to hire PF in the role as a galan again. That's just crazy. PF plays a sweet,l funny, likeable buy and I just can't see DZ playing the same kind of role. Patricio maybe, but Chava?

I've decided that Greta is majorly bi-polar. I still hate Lucas and really don't like the actor playing him for a variety of reasons. I thinkk they needed to hire an actor who could play the part with a little more subtlety. I like the guy who plays Leon on MCET, although he might look a little old for the part.

I've said it before, but Julian Gil is an amazing actor. Just looking at a picture of him makes my flesh crawl. He is one of the most believable antagonists I have seen in a novela.

Can't believe that Irma revealing the truth about Nandito so soon. I think she isn't long for this world.

Did I miss something? Could Araceli and Pato have set up the little street kissing scene? It seemed awfully coincidental to me.

I would like to see Lucas and Marisol just disappear into the sunset and for Dani to meet up with some genuinely attractive young man who doesn't have any assinine hang-ups like Lucas.

Hi anita, so nice to see your post.

We've been speculating about why Pedro left. Initially, it was noted that his wife/family disapproved of his romantic scenes. Now, it appears it may be health related.

While I like him and wish him the best, for whatever reason, Pedro's romantic sizzle fizzled. I believe that David is going to "become" Chava. I can see in the role and I have to say, he has a very sweet smile when he does it genuinely. I suspect at the very least, the kissing quotient will shift into high gear with the change.

I would NOT be sending out a search party if Lucas were to disappear...:)

Diana

Anita, you don't see Irma being around long in this world?

You're saying she's going to get killed off ? It was devastate Nandito.

On Greta being uppity: now we on why Paco wanted nothing to do with her.

I'm sooo looking forward to Greta's secrets being exposed for all to see.

Steve, I don't have any inside info on Irma so hope you didn't think I was giving up any spoilers, just thinking that her behavior is going from bad to worse, plus she's getting kind of wierd. Since Nandito isn't Armando's, plus Armando and Alexa seem to be headed for a hookup, Irma has to be "disappeared".

Diana, I just now remembered that DZ did appear as a slightly geeky type for a short time in La Fuerza del Destino where he was wearing glasses and was kind of shy. It will be an interesting transition to see Chava morph from PF to DZ. I do think that it WILL add some hotness factor!

I made my neighbor translate a lot of different articles. DZ will be Chava.

"The wine came out of a box?" That was funny!

I'm afraid to do screen shots. I just had my computer cleaned up. It cost me $150. I would love to do them. They make the recap more interesting.

Having watched the previews for tonight's episode, Sofia goes off on Chava and it appears she's going on ahead with her marriage to Patrick.

It also looks like Chava might get fired from his job too.

On Greta firing Mig: that was OVER THE LINE she crossed and obviously Greta feels nothing and doesn't have a soul period.

Maybe this is why Paco didn't want anything to do with her.

Aaack! I was just reading that initially the producers of HEFDM were considering both David Zepeda AND Eduardo Yanez as a replacement for Pablo Fernandez.

DZ I could see, but Eduardo Yanez? He's 10 years older than PF! I think that choice would have tanked the show in about 2 episodes.

Anyone have an idea how I could write the Producers/writers/people-in-charge of the show?

I hope this not a spoiler; how could it be since I have no clue what the writers are going to do to write DZ into the plot as novio of perhaps the most beautiful and sexy actress in TNland? But gossip has it that Chava will be kissing Sofia and when she opens her eyes it will be DZ! Beanie big time.
Now there is nothing wrong with the looks and body of DZ; but he's kind of a reserved actor. Yes he can kiss but not as well as Julian Gil or, my preference, would be for Gabriel Soto to take Chava's place. Sofia need a huge guy to take control over her. And Soto would definitely fit the role. How much acting would it take it kiss that stunning beauty?
As for the planned wedding between Sofia and Patrick, now I ask you , how many times is there a successful wedding at an altar (or indeed in front of civil authorities) any TN? Not many. We will just have to wait and see.

Xlnt – Your recap is on fire and all the photo captions are a hoot. My favorites:

Well nevertheless, Lucas tells Dani that they can't be together. I predict he'll be back again in about an hour to tell her the same thing.

She {Alex} feels much better now that her life isn't filled with lies and fakery. And Alan the Cockroach.

Matias pic with “Maybe his muse was Betty Crocker” and Silvana hugging Sofias pic with “You'll get yours my pretty! –- a tie for totally hilarious.

So glad Miguelina stuck up for herself with Greta. I wish she had slapped Greta, but then there’d probably be no chance of getting re-hired. Can’t Fausto, Alexa, Dani, and Sofia run an endgame and bring Miguelina back? They need to do a Munity on the Bounty.

I do not like Paco coming on to Lupe. Dude, you were married for 20+ years and still pining for Greta and likely will do so till the grave. So leave Lupe alone and let Detective Fuzzy have a chance.

Marisol, sweet girl, but so annoying. It is none of her damn business what happened between Dani and Lucas. If she wants to go after Lucas, fine. But it is stupid for her to argue with Dani about what Dani did or did not do with Lucas.

Someone earlier mentioned losing a singer with PF leaving. DZ sings too. Here's a clip from his tour in Angola this summer: http://entretenimiento.univision.com/video/491133/2014-08-06/despierta-america/farandula/david-zepeda-volvio-locas-a-sus-fans-de-angola-Africa

I think DZ is a good choice. But all these guys - PF, DZ, GS, EY - are too old to have an 18-year-old sister and still be living at home with mama. But at least he's a race car driver, which is cool.

On EY - He was interviewed on El Gordo y La Flaca a few weeks ago. He had just returned to the US from shooting a scene in Santo Domingo for a film and recently entered a deal with Televisa for another TN in about 1 - 1 1/2 years. My guess is Televisa included his name in the PF replacement hunt for publicity reasons, no more. I remember back when the press said EY was up to replace Jorge Salinas when JS fell ill during La Que No Podia Amar. EY in fact did an interview at the time saying that (1) no one was going to replace JS, whom he had talked to on the phone and was improving in health and staying with the show, and (2) no producer at the show had contacted him (EY).

Niecie, thank you for the info!!

Am thrilled EY will be making another TN shortly. Amores Verdaderos only left me wanting more. Now I really have something to look forward to.

Diana

Why would they have to replace the theme song simply because they replaced they actor. That doesn't seem likely.

Big question is how far will Marisol take her obsession with Lucas ?

Hoping for a big anvil for her!

Anita, Good to see you here!

Steve, I hope Araceli doesn't go all Dr. Skankenstein. PMSA started out good, but quickly nose-dived into TN hell. I was recapping and by the time it ended I hated it. Way too much stupid trying to overcome pure much evil. I don't know how the writers managed to sleep at night.

Cynderella, I know what you mean about the computer. I worry about malware from those online sites. To get the pictures I hit 'print screen' at the scene I want, then paste that into a photo program and crop off the excess. Then I save the picture in a file and pull it up into blogger. I know Mads uses a different method. (Waves to Mads if you're reading this!! :)

If Irma is forced to tell Armando the truth, I wonder if she'll join forces with Renzi to become the ex-wife from hell...

Since Pedro sings the theme song, they might feel it awkward to hear him sing each episode but not have him in the show.

"Why would they have to replace the theme song simply because they replaced they actor. That doesn't seem likely."

Xlnt, It's very possible Araceli pulls a Marcela and go all psycho.

If that happens, Paco will finally see her for who she is.

I suspect the reason Greta goes nuts at her daughter having an affair with a poor devil is because that's what she did, and it got her nowhere good. She had an affair with a (then) waiter. It got her pregnant with Sofía and a bunch of bittersweet memories. Greta lives with so much guilt; she's always on edge.

Also I just watched the You Tube video of Pedro's press conference with Nicandro, and he did look kind of pale and gaunt.

I wonder if the suits leaned on him for ratings reasons; if so, it wouldn't be his fault, and it might not be the end of his acting career.

Jeri, I just juvv you ittle fuzzy fuzz fuzz kitty!

Sorry, I lose all ability to speak properly when I see a picture of a cute kitty!

Anita, haha! I love that. You are undoubtedly a great person. :D

That's Wilbur Wildcat. He's a character!
