TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE, week of October 6, 2014 -- Los Miserables, Señora Acero, etc.

I know people are watching the new novelas, Los Miserables and Señora Acero.  Novelera got us started with an excellent introduction to the first and Deb has written a few of her wonderful prose poem recaps about the second.

If anyone else is interested in writing about these shows, please don't be shy.  A paragraph or two of highlights would be great.

If you just want to chat about the novelas, that's fine too.  This is your space!

Señora Acero... Monday, epi 10
part 1

Tijuana...
ah yes, Mariana is pregnant, what to do, what to do, Junio paces as he begins to have another attack, Mariana plays it for all it's worth and wants loose in case he dies, but he assures her he won't die till he knows if this is his kid.

later Junio returns with some food, and after waving a knife around cuts Mariana's hands loose so she can eat, but while he's bringing her the plate he passes out and hits the floor, she quickly unties her legs and goes to make a phone call, but Junio grabs her by the foot, yikes, she breaks away and grabs a tire iron and demands the car keys, he reaches into his back pockets and comes up with his gun, but then he starts blacking out again, she kicks the gun away, and leaves, and once again he grabs her foot, but she shakes him loose and runs, he tries to follow and gets into his car but crashes into some barrels, he's in pretty bad shape for playing this game.

Guadalajara...
Enriqueta's lip enhancement looks worse everytime we see it, just put some ice on it she says as she collects her money and sends the patient on her way.

Enriqueta's not comfortable with dr. Elio nosing around, tells Empanada to disappear,
later she tells Juan that if he doesn't, then take care of him,
but do a better job this time.

Miriam goes into the office to see Enriqueta, but she is not there, so she peeks in the appointment book and sees that Magdalena was scheduled for an operation, (I think she connects the dots with the newly found dead girls) and she later tells Lupita, when they aren't under the watchful eye of Cornelia.

Aracely does a knockout job transforming Sara, but now she needs a phone and a car, Aracely knows someone who will help, a millionaire, millionaires go to that beauty shop Sara asks, no, no, he's a friend of aaa, the family.

Elio wonders with Pedro why Sara is changing her looks, they have a diagram, with pictures, of the beauty shop ring, and later go to the autopsy of the two dead girls, the one died of the butt enhancement surgery, the other was heavily sedated and buried alive, Elio recognizes her as the girl that was going to cut his hair, what?, who was concerned about her sister, he asks the doctor to do a dna test to see if the two girls are related.

Señora Acero... Monday, epi 10
part 2

Tijuana...
Josefina's anonymous phone call to Carlota has told the gang (Felipe, Esteban, Berta, and Josefina) that Sara is returning, so Felipe gets Sara's flight info from Gutiérrez (the local PGR jefe) and he and Esteban take off to meet the plane, Berta loads his gun for him, tells a guilty Josefina, they have to pay for what they have done, that's why Salvador is sick.

Sara arrives at the airport but Esteban, hiding behind a tiny newspaper doesn't recognize her, he calls Felipe who is waiting in the car, are you sure?, so Esteban finally spots her as she is renting a van and they both follow her to the windmill, Felipe stays off in the car while Esteban gets closer on foot, with instructions to wait until he sees the money.

Sara makes digging a little hole look like a nightmare but finally she finds two big barrels full of money, before she is looking into the gun of Esteban, he calls Felipe, but as he puts down the gun to check out the money, she gets the drop on him with the shovel and some screaming, and gets the gun, but there is a shot, it's Felipe who's come to supervise.

but Felipe's legs hurt and Sara is tied to the windmill, so he leaves Esteban to finish loading the money in the van, then I think he is supposed to get rid of Sara, who begs and pleads, pleads and begs, he finally unties her and tells her to go, instead he slugs him and takes off, and up comes his gun, and a shot rings out, Esteban drops dead and we see Indio has shot him. (I know Indio is a bad guy and all but I was so happy to see someone that knows what he's doing, as these other idiots were driving me nuts)

ahh, Indio explains, Felipe thinks he is running the show but WE are, Gutiérrez called him after talking to Felipe and gave him all of the info.

Indio then gets Sara's phone, takes a picture of the dead Esteban and sends it to Felipe, they'll think you killed him... (this is like an Indio joke and we almost see him laughing)

Loved the recap, Deb. Thank you. I liked the way Sara
was dressed, particularly the shoes, for digging in the dirt. I'm hoping for a miracle for Junio.

Anon Gringa

Thank you Deb.

Señor Acero
Thanks mucho deb.

I watch at 1 in the afternoon since I'm watching El Chivo.

Blanca is improving her acting skills.

Anyone remember where we have seen Indio (Jorge Zárate) before? I haven't been able to find anything on him. Felipe (Marco Perez) was Guadalupe Robles in El Señor de los cielos.

Señor Acero

thanks guys!

Variopinta- hmm, I can't remember what happened to Guadalupe Robles.

Jorge Zárate has quite a long list of accomplishments but the only place I would have seen him was his role in "El Señor de los Cielos".
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0959172/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t5

deb
Guadalupe was Monica's brother. I should have said it was season 1 of El señor. If I remember correctly Aurelio had him poisoned. I remember he was with miss Sinaloa who Monica later killed by placing a plastic bag over her head.

This is kind of off topic and I don't know if everyone already knows (or maybe isn't interested) but I saw an ad for Cristela and it starts this Friday on ABC(8:30, 7:30 Central I think) Now I don't know anything about the lead Cristela or if she's funny or anything but Carlos Ponce (most recently of Santa Diabla and multitudinous State Farm commercials) is in it playing the exasperated dad character so that's interesting

Just thought I'd let everybody know

Thank you , "sneaky", I love Carlos Ponce and will
definitely check it out.

Señora Acero... Tuesday, epi 11
part 1

*Tijuana...

Indio does laugh,
as he sends a message to Felipe on Sara's phone,
Recoge tu gallo
muerto, Felipe,
Ahora sabes que
el que pestanea
pierde y el proximo vas
a ver tu,
Sara

and a pic of the dead Esteban,

Felipe heads back, but sees the rental van and starts following,
but Tiburon comes along in another car and starts shooting,
causing Felipe to give up the chase.

Felipe returns to the windmill, Esteban lies dead, the money is gone, he calls home,
and tells Berta, Sara is a killer, she killed your husband,
Berta's face stops short of cracking, into a thousand pieces.

Junio calls Sara as she and Indio ride along in the back of the van with $3 million dolors,
and Sara makes like it's her mother,
and Junio gets out where he is before Indio gets nervous and takes her phone back.

later Indio lets Sara leave (again), gives her some money out of his pocket
and yes, yes, he'll take care of the rental.

Mariana gets to a phone, calls Indio, and wants him to finish their deal
and kill Junio,
she tells him where that shop is, and Indio puts Tiburon on the job..

Sara makes it to the shop, Junio tells her he is dying,
she tells him about the money, and losing it,
her green eyes stop short of bursting into red flames

Felipe returns home, and shows Berta the message from Sara,
she vows revenge and wants all of Felipe's resources to help,
he calls Lopez.

smart Junio tells Sara they have to leave and she helps him to the car,
and seconds after they pull away, Tiburon and crew arrive to an empty shop,
the coconut is still in the vise.

Junio takes Sara to the apartment (where she burnt the money earlier),
one of Felipe's guys spot them and calls,
Felipe tells Berta where she is,
Berta wants to handle this alone and takes Felipe's gun,
knocking Josefina out of the way as Felipe relaxes with a drink,

(Josefina has been freaking all along, after all the three are sisters, and isn't there an underlying story where Berta was obsessed with Vicente, but he married Sara)

Sara tends to the fake logs burning in the fireplace,
calls mom to check on Salvador,
and later gets a visit from gun toting Berta,
as she shoots Junio pushes Sara and takes the shot into his arm,
(as if he doesn't have enough problems)

and after some kicking, screaming, punching, crying, choking,
Berta recovers the gun and is going to shoot Sara first then Junio (no witnesses)
but Junio has crawled to his gun and shoots first,
Berta drops.

being her sister and all, Sara wants to call and ambulance,
Junio gives in to taking her to the hospital,
we found her on the street.

jumping back in the car Junio tells Sara he will return to Guadalajar with her.

Señora Acero... Tuesday, epi 11
part 2

*Gudalajara...

Miriam and Lupita talk about going to see if the bodies that were found are the girls they know, Enriqueta is watching them, tells Juan to take care of it,
and as they leave the shop, Pedro and Elio, follow each.
Miriam discovers Juan at her place who smashes her to the floor,
but Pedro starts knocking on the door,
Juan gets a gun and drags Miriam back to the bedroom and convinces her that she is dead if she talks.

Elio shows up at Lupita's place, he is still working his morgue doctor disguise,
says the dead girl was the one that was going to cut his hair,
as Empenada walks in the door,
who decides he better run for it and does,
hopping on his moto and getting away,
as Elio returns to the apartment and questions Lupita about her novio,
no not novio,
but he had keys to your place Elio points out,
why all the questions she asks,
just curious Elio says,
and why are they looking for Empenada Lupita asks,
for killing Andrecito,
Lupita is getting all torn but someone else shows up and Elio excuses himself and leaves.

*Tijuana

Berta returns home,
no wait its Junio and Sara,
as our dynamic duo pull their guns at the exact same time and point them at Felipe...

Señora Acero - tks so much deb

Pobre Junio, talk about a bad day, sick, crash, shot, what else could go wrong?
Blanca needs to work on her countenance impactada, looks very phoney .

Good job, Deb. Thank you. Anon Gringa

Señora Acero

Variopinta- hmm, I think it was Monica's other brother Isidro Robles that was poisoned by miss Sinaloa, and I think Guadalupe (Marco Pérez who is our Felipe) was the guy with the sniper rifle at the beginning of the first season of "El Señor de los Cielos", that was trying to kill Aurelio.

Deb, I was thinking the same thing about it being
the other Robles brother who was poisoned by Miss
Sinaloa. Anon Gringa

deb
How was that brother killed, I don't remember.

Señora Acero

Indio was in El señor season 1. His character was Juan Montoya, I don't remember the character but I knew the face from some narco novela.

Señora Acero... Wednesday, epi 12
part 1

*Tijuana...

Josefina goes to the hospital to check on Berta,
while Sara and Junio empty Felipe's home safe, at gun point,

after they leave Felipe calls Lopez,
he wants all exits out of Tijuana blocked,
they must be caught, wait, make that dead.

Mariana shows up at Indio's junkyard office,
where he has the $3 million stacked behind his seat,
she wants Junio dead,
our deal is done, bye, says Indio.

Felipe has rounded up a bunch more money,
and is making arrangements with some thug to kill Junio and Sara,
he gives him the address of the hospital in Guadalajara,
as the thug leaves, Mariana enters, commenting that he looks like a killer,
anyway Mariana needs Felipe's help, Junio is dangerous,
Felipe wants some sex, and starts pawing her, as they talk.

Sara and Junio go to the municipal dog pound,
where Junio knows the guy,
and they ride through a roadblock in a truckload of dogs in carrier boxes,
Sara comments it's the first time she's happy to be called a perra.

*Guadalajara...

Elio and Pedro talk, I think they are working on a search warrant for the Beauty shop,
later a higher up guy stops by and says they need results, now.

later alone, Elio, puts on some romantic music,
and starts gazing at Sara's picture, what?

next day, the forensic doctor confirms the two dead girls were sisters.

Juan sees a sparkle in Enriqueta's eyes, ah you have a plan,
(and I guess it involves some girl they want revenge on)
hmm, part 1 involves Empanada, (who is still hanging around)
who Enriqueta gets so aroused he starts boinking her on the operating table,
as Juan walks in, and chases Empanada out, before he can finish,
not sure what part 2 is.

Lupita goes to see Miriam, notices the bruises from Juan,
she tells her the morgue doctor confirmed who the girls were,
she wants to go to the police, but Miriam insists they stay quiet,
and that doctor IS the police.

Elio casually sits next to Sara's mom,
and listens to Sara's call, she is on the way.
afterwards Carlota comments on what a great person Junio is.

later Junio and Sara arrive at the hospital, greeted by Carlota,
Elio seeing Junio with Sara figures he'll leave,
and is passed by the hitman, who pulls his gun, rushing in,
getting aim on Sara,
Elio pulls his gun and follows but will he get there in time,
bang!
in the blink of an eye, Sara has pulled her gun, and shot the killer dead,
in center in the forehead, before he could squeeze the trigger,
(wow, I'm really stunned, as well as everyone there)
and it ends in a standoff with Elio, she puts her gun down as the police arrive,
Elio has to identify himself as a PGR agent in front of everyone,
and he arrests Sara,
Junio's not liking this at all but Sara gets him to back off,

as Elio takes Sara away, Junio pockets the killers phone,
and of course they have to stop by and say hello/goodbye to Salvador.

Señora Acero... Wednesday, epi 12
part 2

*Tijuana

the next day as Felipe leaves for work he's met by Indio in two carloads of thugs,
(Indio with a cowboy hat on is reminding me of Willy Nelson without pigtails)
I'm not sure if Felipe knows that Indio got the $3 million or was even involved, but Indio starts pressuring Felipe about not helping him get the money, and Felipe starts going on about Sara being a killer, so I think Indio is happy that the seed he planted using Sara's phone is working, and Indio, looking like the good guy, ends by assuring him he will help with Felipe's run for senator.

at the office, Mariana is still wondering what to do,
she tells Felipe she is pregnant with his child,
he thinks she wants money, calls her a prostitute,
and he doesn't want complications with his campaign,
tells he to go to a doctor.

*Guadalajara

Elio is getting bits of Sara's story on the way to the station,
I think he gets that his call to Comendante Gutiérrez tipped the bad guys Sara was coming,
he also asks if she went back for the $3 million.

Josefina gets to see Berta, she'll live but the bullet hit her spinal column,
she'll never walk again,
(wow, could she be worse to live with than she already is)

Sara gets booked into the jail,
Gutiérrez calls Elio, reminds him they are working together,
wants to know if Sara is in Guadalajara,
Elio is wondering what to tell him,

*Tijuana

Felipe is at his office with Mariana and finally gets his confirmation call from his hitman,
but it's Junio...

Los Miserables

I'm binge watching this and I like it. It's basically a La Patrona reunion as no less than four La Patrona cast members other than Gabriel Garcia Vivanco is in this one: Aldo Gallardo who played Ricardo in LP is in LM; Alexandra de la Mora who played Patricia in LP plays Aracely's sister Elena in this. Javier Dueñas Diaz who played Tigre in LP is now a narco and the cheating hubby of Elena in LM. Lastly, Geraldine Zinat, who played an ex-prostitute witha heart-of-gold in LP, is now a nun who dislikes Aracely's Lucia in LM.

I want to recap Friday's episodes but I won't have the recap up until Sunday morning.
I've never seen Erik de Hayser (sp?) in anything but he's a good galan in this. Aaron Diaz is really better as a villain. He's in this a s a conflicted villain and he's actually a good actor.

Los Miserables

J desde NYC, I agree that Los Mis is worth watching. I've been trying to catch up with it and have liked what I've seen so far. It's quite well crafted, I think.

I'm really glad you're going to be writing about it.

Los Mis

from a prostitute to a nun, now that's interesting, and

Aaron Diaz is a villain in this?

I'm enjoying Los Mis. and am liking Aaron Diaz much
more than I did in Santa Diabla. Maybe it's because I
like his hair a lot better in this one. I'm obviously missing
much of it, though, because I didn't realize he's a villain.
From what I've been able to understand, not being a
Spanish speaker, I've been thinking that he was a sweet
guy.

Deb, I was especially appreciative of your great recap
this morning since I slept through most of last night's
episode. Thank you. Anon Gringa

LOS MISERABLES

Anon Gringa, I've been thinking the same thing about Aarón Díaz's character, César. I thought he was one of the good guys, at least so far. But I could certainly have missed something -- I wasn't paying that much attention at first.

Los Mis

fan de Caray -- it was kind of on the fence -- some folks might prefer not to know -- so I removed your comment.

If you're watching this show, I hope you'll feel free to comment on what we've seen. So far, it looks pretty interesting.

Los Miserabkes

Now I'm really curious about Aron Diaz' character. His wife and father-in-law are pure evil and I can't wait to see them fall, so for that reason I thought he was a good guy. I also was thinking that they'll threaten him in order to keep him from divorcing her. I guess to be a villain he'd have to butt heads with Lucia or Daniel which I wasn't expecting anytime soon. But by the looks of things, he may have to do a little evil in order to defend himself against the nutty wife and her abusive father.

Spanish student

Los Miserables

Novelamadan ... no problem

I really enjoy seeing alot of the cast from La Patrona in the novela, am looking forward to seeing Diego Saldano.

I wish the ratings were better.

fan de Caray Caray

Señora Acero... Thursday, epi 13

*Guadalajara

the delivery guy Joaquin is making eyes at Lupita,
when Elio raids the beauty shop,
but it looks pretty clean, Eriqueta does massages in the back room,
but suggests maybe who did the work on Magdalena was Rita Hernandez.

Junio, Carlota, and Salvador move in with Aracely,
Junio takes his big wad of money and puts it into a cabinet,
while talking to Araceli.

Carlota finally looks at her phone calls,
Josefina tells her Sara is crazy, she killed Esteban,
shot Berta who will never walk again,
and then showed up at the house with guns,
Carlota recalls Sara efficiently killing the guy at the hospital.

Elio and crew show up at Rita's place,
she is in the middle of doing some liposuction,
he asks for her credentials, none?, then takes her to jail.

Araceli drops by the shop, Enriqueta drags her to the back room and sits her down,
and mixes up something nasty in a big spoon,
and gets behind her with a choke hold and threatens to put the spoonful in her eye,
Enriqueta wants her money, all 30,000 pesos,
Araceli remembers Junio's money, I'll have it tomorrow.

Carlota shows up at the jail,
wants to talk to Sara, Elio will see what he can do,
and lets them meet in an interrogation room, with the mirror window where he watches,
Carlota accuses her of all that Josefina told her,
Sara is stunned that Berta is paralyzed,
Carlota then tells her, you are dead to me,
Sara cries, but then spits out the truth,
(and through a bunch of flashbacks she spits out the whole story,
Vicente stole $3 million,
Felipe was after her for the money,
they kidnapped Salvador,
the same guy that killed Vicente, killed Esteban, etc. etc.)
but her mom just leaves.

then Elio appears, I heard everything,
and I believe you, I can tell when someone is telling the truth,
Sara is all relieved,
until Elio starts asking for names, places and about the money,
when Sara gets the idea he wants the money,
like all the rest, and clams up.
take me to my cell.

*Tijuana

Felipe with Mariana, gets the call from the sicario, but it's Junio,

later Gutierrez stops by, Sara is back in Guadalajara he says, as Mariana is listening.

Berta wakes up and freaks, she can't feel her legs,
the nurse rushes in with fresh sedatives for her IV,
later she tells Josefina she has made a decision,
and she wants to talk to Felipe.

Felipe and Mariana are walking along talking when a little old lady comes up to him,
with a big gun under her wrap, Felipe jumps,
she wants to know about her son, (the killer he hired),
so Felipe takes her back to his office.

*Guadalajara

Araceli is calling all her contacts to raise the money,
no luck,
and Juan stops by to remind her,
then Junio asks her for a favor, take care of things while I go back to Tijuana,
and after he leaves she goes for the money,
but Salvador sees her, she puts it back.

and Sara meets her cell mate roomies,
the usual nasty bunch, that all look over fed, but still hungry,
and ready for some fresh meat.

Thank you for the recap. I'll start watching when Sara gets to be La patrona until then your recaps are enough.
Romy

Señora Acero... Friday, epi 14

*Guadalajara

Sara meets her cellmates, and makes friends with Rita (is this the same Rita that Elio arrested for the liposuction after being tipped by Eriqueta)

Elio calls Gutierrez, he has the information he wants, tells him Sara is in jail and gives him the address where Junio and Salvador are, wow, (did Elio sell her out)

Junio went to see a lawyer for Sara, the lawyer says it's complicated, for now she is probably safer in jail, but Junio doesn't like this, he wants her out so he can protect her.

While Junio is gone, Aracely puts Salvador to bed and once again goes for Junio's money stash, but Junio gets home and catches her, throws her out.

Aracely then goes to see her mother, explains she needs 30,000 pesos, her mother thinks it's for drugs, I've been clean for a year Aracely says, and her mother kicks her out.

*Tijuana

Felipe asks Berta who shot her, Junio right?, no it was Sara, Berta lies, she is responsible for our father's death, Vicente, Esteban, and taking away my legs, promise me she will pay.

Gutierrez tells Felipe where Sara and Junio are, Felipe puts together some guys to kill Junio and Salvador, what? Mariana says, you're going to kill the boy?

*Guadalajara
Junio is feeding Salavador,
Felipe and team have arrived at the address fully armed and move in,
Junio hears a sound, but it's Aracely at the door, totally drugged out,
while Felipe crashes into an empty apartment, followed by Elio and Pedro who were waiting for them,

it's personal, Felipe tells Elio, showing him his cell phone pic of the dead Esteban sent to him by Sara,

and Junio, he's Vicente's brother.

meanwhile at the jail Sara has finished her shower and is dressed, drying her hair when a girl walks up behind her and stabs her in the back, Felipe says hi!

Sara pulls the knife out and attacks her like a wild woman, Rita shows up to help, after the other girl escapes, Sara collapses. the jail warden wants names, Sara is no snitch, but Rita will point the girl out, and later we find that the girl is gone, left the jail somehow.

Enriqueta is chatting with Juan, the beauty business isn't making it and without the plastic surgery... ah I wish things were like the old days, for 25 years she lived the good life with the narcos, and she still has her contacts, but she doesn't like selling drugs, hmm... what we should do is use the shop to launder money.

Junio is bringing Aracely around (I guess they live in two different places) and hears her story about how she got into drugs, and no she didn't need the money for more and tells him the story of Enriqueta and how she doesn't want to be one eyed, Junio decides to lend her the money, no interest, and she is totally overwhelmed that he would do that for her, and he is... well anyway, they kiss, and...but not yet.

at the jail Elio shows up and tells Sara about his meeting Felipe, he believes she is innocent, why won't she believe in him, he later tells her he is getting her out of there.

*Tijuana
Carlota, the mom, visits Berta, who blames Sara for everything and when it sounds like Carlota might be defending Sara, Berta makes it clear, you have to choose.

Felipe, in that crazy way he carries on, is telling Mariana about what happened in Guadalajara, and Mariana figures out what he really wants is the money, that he thinks Sara and Junio have it, Mariana knows that Indio has the money, but she's not finding a good time to tell him, plus I don't think she wants to reveal her relationship with Indio to him.

Señora Acero
Tks so much deb. Telemundo isn't cooperating, so I haven't seen it yet.

Deb

Thank you for continuing to post such great recaps and
adding much to my enjoyment of Señora.

LOS MISERABLES CAP 9 Oct 10 2014-ROXANA ES SECUESTRADA

After handcuffing Lucha to him, Daniel tries to explain to Lucha that the kiss with his ex Maria was a set-up (trampa). Someone else sent both Lucha and the ex Maria text messages from his cell phone inviting them to the office at the same time. Lucha asks if Daniel kissing the ex was also part of the set-up, too. As he stumbles over an explanation, saying Maria means nothing to him and she’s the one he wants, Lucia is called to duty by a message over the public address system. Lucia asks Daniel if she’s going to let them fire her since he won’t let her go. Danny takes off the esposas (handcuffs) but only on the condition that they meet later that night so he can explain the kiss-with-his-ex debacle. As Lucha quickly exits, he wryly notes that Lucia “doesn’t believe me.” Duh, menso.

A social worker, Margarita Virgil, comes to Nuria’s to investigate Roxana’s living conditions in her aunt’s home. Nuria’s boyfriend, Roque, as usual, is passed out drunk on the couch as the social worker comes into the house.

In the meanwhile at the hospital, Deyanira, Lucha’s schoolmate, now heart-of-gold prostitute friend, comes to visit Roxana and Lucha in the hospital, making Roxana know that she and Lucha will be living with her and she will be like her aunt. Roxana blanches that she has an aunt that she doesn’t like, but Lucha interjects as she enters the room that she will love this aunt since she’s nice and a little bit crazy. Deyanira gives Lucha a copy of the keys to her home and tells her to move in as soon as she can.

Back at Nuria’s and Roque’s social worker Virgil tries to get these two miserables to explain how they earn money, and of course, Nuria and Roque lie that they are tourist guides. Licenciada Virgil reminds the two miserables that their house is unhealthy and messy and they obviously have an issue with alcohol. She recommends they stop joking around or she will recommend the government take away custody of Roxana from them. They offer her a beer, which she refuses.

Back at Misericordia Hospital Deyanira and Lucha talk about Daniel and how he’s a cheater. He texts Lucha at the same time reminding her to meet him outside the hospital at 9 so they can talk. Deyanira asks, “Who does he think he is, your husband or your owner?” “I’m going to prove to him right now that he is neither,” responds Lucha, as she calls Cesar to meet him for dinner at nine.

Millan has infiltrated Hotel Faraón and calls to tell Daniel as much. It was like taking candy from a baby. “You won’t believe my next job,” he tells the commandante.

Liliana meets up with Olegario (Diablo) in the Hotel Faraón. Radames face registers his shock, jealousy and humiliation that she’s now going out with Olegario.

Victoria visits her abuelo Ignacio in the hospital. She tells him not to die as the family needs him but all Ignacio cares about is seeing Lucha. She promises him she’ll leave no stone unturned to find Lucha.

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 9 PARTE 2-VIERNES OCT 10, 2014-ROXANA ES SECUESTRADA

Gaston Gordillo (Victoria’s father and Consuelo’s husband) shows up at the hooker spot outside Lucha’s apartment at Hotel Esmeralda and picks up Nuria for the night.

Radames’s bad day continues as Olegario gives Liliana a shiny, red, expensive sports car right in front of him. Liliana is genuinely shocked but tellingly notes that the new boss is so generous.

Cesar picks up Lucha at the hospital at the same time Daniel was supposed to come get her and he sees her driving off in the car with another man. “Who’s the idiot you’re going out with?” he opines as the car drives off.

Roque goes to Deyanira’s house and tries to rape her. She kicks him in the crotch and threatens him with a knife to get him to leave, which works.

Lucha and Cesar are eating a fancy restaurant and she is obviously miserable since she’s trying to love the one she’s with since she can’t be with the one she loves. Cesar asks her if the man that screamed her name as they drove off is the one who made her sad. She says no, because they were anything special and never will be. That’s why she chose Cesar because he won’t make her suffer.

Victoria comes out from visiting her abuelo and tells her family about his wish to see Lucha before he dies. Everyone except Fernanda agrees that they need to find Lucha since that is Ignacio’s final wish before dying.

Liliana and Olegario are in his suite. Before they do the deed he tells her that whoever is with him is with him for life, in the good and the bad, there’s no turning back.

Octavio (Cesar’s son) and Vicky meet up at their usual hotel but Vicky is crying. She tells Octavio that she doesn’t want her grandfather to die and they have to find her aunt since that's what her grandfather needs in order to get better. Octavio promises to help her as his uncle is a cop and will help him find her aunt.

Cesar drops Lucha off and they talk about their relationship. Cesar insists he will continue to try and win Lucha over even as she says she can’t promise him anything.
Lucha goes into the house and sees Deyanira crying. Dey tells Lucha that Roque tried to rape her and Lucha immediately says they should go to the police precinct and report him. Dey reminds Lucha she’s a prostitute and it makes no sense to report it. Lucha tells Deyanira she has to change her life and then they girl-talk some more about Lucha being pursued by the diputado (Congressman) Cesar and the commandante Daniel.

Pablo, Elena’s first love, played by the guapismo Diego Saldano, shows up in Elena’s garden. He pretends to be a gardener pruning her favorite flowers. She’s obviously shocked and Pablo asks why since her mother always felt he was a nobody that wasn't right for Elena.

LOS MISERABLES-CAP 10-PARTE 3-VIERNES 10-10-14

The social worker shows up in Roxana’s room while Lucha and Cesar are there and tells them that Roxana will have to go to an orphanage (una casa hogar) while a judge decides who should get custody of Roxana. Of course Roxana protests saying that Lucha is the best person for the job because she feeds her, fixes her hair and helps her with homework. “Isn’t that what a mother does?” she insists to the Licenciada Virgil. The social worker agrees that mothers do all those things but a judge has to decide where is the best home for Roxana. Cesar promises his support and testimony as to Lucha’s fitness as a mother. Licenciada Virgil insists she is not against Lucha, but what’s best for Roxana. Nuria is listening outside the hospital room as this is taking place.

Liliana tells Olegario to be careful of Radames since he’s not trustworthy. Oleg says he knows that well which is why he is now becoming a large part of his businesses and not just the silent partner. Liliana says sarcastically that she’s worried for Radames, to which she and Oleg toast.

Roxana and Lucha talk and makes sure Roxana understands why she has to go to the orphanage. She will stay there a while until a judge decides that Lucha is the best person to be her mother.

Liliana walks out the hotel singing after her night with Oleg and Radames tries to threaten her. He says she owes everything she has to him. Before he can do anything, one of Oleg’s men comes over to ask if he can help her as Olegario sent him to guard her and see to her needs. Radames backs off and Liliana walks free.

Nuria disguises herself in a full body nurses suit and changes her voice and arrives in Roxana’s room with a wheelchair pretending to be talking her outside to go to the orphanage. Roxana realizes too late that it’s her aunt when Roque grabs her into a car.

Licienciada Virgil and Lucha comes in the hospital to pick up Roxana and she’s missing. The social worker thinks Lucha has hidden the girl but Lucha makes her know that she explained to Roxana that the adoption is not a game and they have to do things like that in the correct way. Lucha insists that something happened to Roxana as she’s a good and obedient girl who wouldn’t run off.

END OF CAPITULO

J desde NYC -- what a wow of a recap! Thanks so much!

I especially appreciate all the care you took in identifying characters not just by name, but by their relationships. That really helps when the story is complicated and new.

Poor Roxanita! Since everything has moved along quickly up until now, let's hope her sojourn with the odious Nuria and Roque is very brief.

Novela, I'm loving this novela--I'm pretty sure because it is a La Patrona reunion, including the same producers and writers. I love Victoria Parraga's writing style-nothing is wasted, nothing is filler; and it is tautly and smartly written. I doubt roxana will be kidnapped for long. Roque and Nuria are tooinept to pull it off.

I name names and relationships as much as to help me keep it all together as well as to help the reader. I went to Telemundo's Los Miserables webpage to figure it all out. It's best if everyone does that as Telemundo has still shots and explanations of the characters' motivations.

I also love seeing actors I may not necessarily like or underestimated, Aaron Diaz being the major one in a new and different role. He has galan looks but he's obviously more comfortable doing a secondary, yet more meaty role. He's very good thus far as Cesar. He seems like a good guy-I think it is telling lucha told him about her past as a convict but not his good-guy brother. I also think he will betray her, exposing himself once-and-for-all as a redeemable baddie. He was too surprised and uncomfortable when daniel told him he will have more power as the head of the anti-narc division, only responsible to the state governor and the president of the republic.

I am also strangely attracted to Gabriel Porras as Olegario. He looks like a naco Jorge Salinas and I love his snappy way with words.

LOS MISERABLES

J desde NYC, I didn't watch La Patrona, in part because I found it so unrelentingly grim in the beginning.

I like the way this one starts with Lucía emerging from the dungeon and into the light (I also love the play on words with her name and nickname: She is a luminous presence and also a warrior). There will be plenty of flashbacks to prison days, but these only last for seconds. I doubt we'll have to slog through whole miserable episodes.

I'm also enjoying Aaron Diaz in this. (The camera didn't exactly love the "PermaSneer" he affected in Santa Diabla or El Talisman, and neither did I.)

I agree completely about the excellent writing here. I didn't want to get hooked on a second novela, but it looks like it may be too late. :D

J Desde NYC

Thank you for the excellent recap of Los Mis.

Would it be too much trouble for you to tell me how to
find Telemundo's Los Mis web page? Hopefully it's in
English. I tried everything I could to find it but
couldn't. Thank you.

the Miserables

stellar recap J desde NYC!

Octavio, is an interesting story, after catching his mother (Radamés daughter) with a lover, causing a breakup with César, he meets Vicky who introduces him to motos, bungee jumping, and sex (they were both virgins)

Interesting seeing Pablo (Helena's gran amor from the past) working as the gardener, not that he isn't a hands-on guy, but did he (the private jet guy) really take a job working there?

and so disgusting seeing the scenes where Radamés is viscously beating his wife Helena, and so odd that she is ok with her life.

and so far César is hiding the fact that he is courting Lucha from his brother Daniel.

and it's interesting that no nonsense Daniel fires his two best guys, Marisela León (who set him up with Lucha and his old girlfriend), and Gustavo Millán (so he could be his undercover guy), and when asked why by his uncomfortable crew, he says León has issues but Millán was no good.

also interesting is the great mystery as to where is Lucha, who is working virtually down the street, and I fear that this social worker lady is the kind that sends all innocent children to the dreaded orphanage, and she won't buy Lucha's criminal past or her friend Deyanira Paredes. (I sure do like Macarena Oz playing Roxana Pérez)

so does Sor Amparo have enough goodness for all?

LOS MISERABLES

J desde NYC —

Here’s a little piddly page in English:

http://msnlatino.telemundo.com/shows/Programas/article/2014-10/los_miserables_les_miserables

And this is the main page for Los Miserables which is, alas, in Spanish:

http://msnlatino.telemundo.com/novelas/Los_Miserables

I’ve always found Telemundo’s webpage full of hidden — though sometimes buried — treasures.

Deb --

so does Sor Amparo have enough goodness for all?
It would be a milagro if she did... but then we believe in milagros, just not Sor Milagros...

Anon, go to telemundo dot com backslash losmiserables. It's in Spanish but the 'Quien es Quien' portion will explain all and is easy to read.

Deb,
,I don't think Daniel fired Léon, just reassigned her to another department. I thought I heard him say he should fire her but he doesn't want to ruin her career. Millán is a different case because they both agreed to perpetuate the fraud that there was a falling out between them to fool the rest of the cops since there are traitors among the cops. Also, since Millán was the one who found out that the old boss was the traitor giving Oleg and Radames info, he can't be seen as too buddy-buddy with Daniel. I think Millán is way too confident, though, in the new operation.

NM, the Telemundo page says Pablo is an undercover cop so that explains his cover as the gardener.

I think the next few weeks will be interesting as Aracely was in the hospital for a few days last week for pneumonia and that might require some script changes.

I cringed at Lucha living with Deyanira b/c I thought the same thing: Who's gonna allow an ex-con, though innocent, and a prosti with a heart of gold to adopt a child? I'm sure Roque and Nuria will be exposed and not granted custody but Lucha and Dey, on paper, don't stand a chance, either.

I think Sor Milagros is starting to warm up to Lucha. She told Amparo Lucia was crying and to comfort her so I think she's starting to believe Lucha's innocence.

LOS MISERABLES

Friday

Here's another thread that was running through this complex episode. Most of this happened in the last few minutes:

Genaro, the older cop who is now the new mole in the anti-drug division (the actor played Adm. Robledo in Lo que la vida me robó), overhears that a protected witness named Miguel is being transported to the airport. He calls his contact with the cartel and reports that the soplón is being taken to the airport hangar.

Olegario (el Diablo) orders his thugs to go after Miguel and to bring him his tongue as proof that they got him. That will teach Comandante Ponce not to play around with El Diablo!

One of Daniel's men, Rodriguez, tells him Miguel has been taken to the airport and sends his regards. What??? Daniel hasn't had a chance to talk to the guy yet. He and Rodriguez hurry to catch up with Miguel at the airport. The camera pauses on Daniel's bulletproof vest, which he has left behind. Uh oh.

NM, thanks for mentioning the narco-intrigue in the ep-I had totally forgotten to mention it and it's pretty important! More than the $ though, Genaro turned bad b/c he felt he should've been the AFAID head after the first one was exposed. It was written all over his face when the governor named Daniel the new head. Though it makes sense since Daniel was already detective head and had no wife or family whose expectations of a high lifestyle given his title to corrupt him.

Radames' henchman who convinced to go to the dark side told him that police officers are paid poorly--which was a good PSA--about why police corruption exists.

Los Mis

Thanks to deb and J desde NYC for the thorough explanations.

I am discovering that the tight writing means that my usual comprehension rate just isn't cutting it. Turns out that while I may agree with the complaints about padded stories in the romantic "dramas" of Televisa, my understanding in "real time" of what's going on here is just plain dismal.

Oh, I need the recaps for those too, but its getting to the point that I'm not totally lost without them, but here, whew! Thanks so much.

Los Miserables

Thanks, J desde NYC, for a very detailed recap. I loved the scene with Liliana singing in the lobby. And by simply mentioning Radames' name after a night with the Devil, she's basically sowing seeds of revenge against Radames. Unlike her sister, it's not in her character to take his abuse more than once, but clearly she's in over her head with the Oleg.

Thanks, NovelaMaven for clarifying what was left behind in Daniel's office. The bullet proof vest saved him the last time but without it I'm guessing he won't be so lucky. Of course since he's a main character the worst that could happen is he'll end up in the hospital under Lucha's care, her sympathy will allow her to forgive him.

And all the talk of Aron Diaz has me wondering what's planned for his character.

Thanks JdesdeNYC for the recap, I caught up over the weekend, and must say I'm hooked.

It's so interesting that ya'll don't see Cesar as a good guy. The one thing that he should really really do though is tell Daniel & Lucha his relationship with the other. I would be surprised but intrigued if he did turn out to have nefarious plans.

I was surprised that Pablo is working undercover, because on the plane he looked like his job was more of a boss/planning/desk job type, not the one who executes the plans. But I'm glad he's nearer Helen to hopefully help her against her husband or thaw her out a bit. I do wonder though what his goals are and what agency or organization he represents.

I'm also liking the kids, Roxana & Memin. Hopefully in tonight's episode the kidnapping gets resolved.

Los Miserables

Jlk, I like your comment about Pablo being able to "thaw her out a bit". She definitely needs warmth in her life, and after that, heat in order to take on her husband. It would be nice if she brought him down instead of the narcos.

Hello,

I've decided to begin watching Les Mis beginning with Monday, the 14th.
I'll catch on slowly to what is happening. Glad to hear that the writing is good.

Thanks to all recappers and commenters.

Hello again,

Correction: LOS MIS.

LOS MISERABLES

Hi Floridia!

It's nice to see you in this neighborhood! Just to let you know --

1. Jean put up a new weekly page:

http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2014/10/telemundo-y-mas-front-page-week-of_13.html#comments

2. So far, J desde NYC is the only one who has stepped up to recap Los Mis. I'm already up to my eyeballs in Reina de Corazones or I'd be seriously tempted. I have a feeling that as time goes on, a few more folks will be tempted, if not to recap, at least to discuss the daily episodes. I hope you are one of them. :D
