Mi Corazon: Amidst Christmas Pageantry A Few Surprises

This will be short as most of the episodio was a family celebration of Christmas with customary songs and some carols performed through various song and dance skits at the manse of Los Lascurain.

  • It's official: Freeky Enreeky has gone totally out of what's left of his mind.  He's witnessed by both Isabela and later his doctor having  hallucinations.  Fernando is officially notified of this by the company comptroller.

  • Fanny gets an eyeful watching Ana and Daddy making out under the missing mistletoe (Or was that yesterday's epi?)
  • Dr. Angel's ex-wife pays him another visit on Christmas Eve and tries to sweetly seduce him back into another relationship.  He's fighting the urge to ravish her as [nookie time] was apparently never the issue.   Her surprise gift to him which he did not open until after she had left--per her instructions--was a note to him agreeing to have all the children he might want if he'd come back to her again.

  • Fanny invites Lenin to Christmas Eve at the manse with her so that Big Daddy can finally meet the other man in his daughter's life.  Lenin is shut-my-endlessly-yapping-mouth impactado.  He meets DF and explains his family are died in the wool Reds.  He's proud, too, he adds, of having been named after Vladimir Lenin and of his and Marx's socialist philosophies (though the ahhh....methods used, this part of Viewerville notes, are not mentioned.  It would have definitely put the kabosh on Christmas gaiety.)   Don Ferd is an exception to his low opinion of business owners as Fanny has defended her father's treatment of his employees time and again in their debates, he says.  Don Ferd is ready to continue in this vein but Fanny, along with Viewerville, are not in the mood.  FF>>
  • Pablo and Alisha declare their undying puppy-love to one another under Bruno's watchful eyes.

  • The twins and Luz scheme to set their alarm clock (?) for three a.m. and to surprise Santa Claus.  Ana happens to overhear the conversation as she's passing the boy's bedroom.
  • And, since Leon drew the short straw with Fanny's refusal to marry him, he's decided to celebrate quietly at home with Reina, Mau and Mama.  Laura has invited herself (natch) to his place for the evening, much to Mama and Reina's great surprise.  Seduction is ever on Laura's mind.   "--What a waste Fanny didn't want to marry you!"  She gives him another of those irritating, "sensual" almost-kisses just off to the left of Leon's luscious lips.  When Fanny shows up a couple of hours later to leave some gifts for Mama and Mau--any mention of Leon's getting a gift being conspicuously absent--she is kicked-in-the-gut impactada, the shoe having been placed firmly on the other foot as it were as well as to Fanny's miniskirted minuscule posterior.

Jardinera, thank you so much! Alot of this episode was Christmas celebration and I did enjoy it. Friend from Guatemala confirmed that, especially in smaller towns, these family traditions are still very common.
As for Leon, he and Fanny seem to be playing a game of ping pong with jealousies and half-revealed truths. However, gotta say, Leon's pity parties are not attractive.

What's going on with Edith? Is Gabriel in jail awaiting trial?

J in Oregon

Funny how Gabriel was yelling to the cops that arrested him that they had no idea who he and his father were, and they'd be super sorry for putting their hands on him --' and then nothing , poof ! Again, no follow through by the writers.

So now my fast forward button on my remote is getting "triple" duty --
>>>anything Johnny
>>>anything Pablo and Alicia
>>>>anything Lenin -''--- yck, triple yuk.

Lenin is the one who bothers me the most. When he was kissing Fanny's arm in the episode before last, I seriously had in my mind a guy with a foot fetish, just a guy who kisses up the hands and arms instead of the feet. He gave me the creeps! And for Fanny to invite Lenin over at Christmas and not Leon was a blunder on her part to me. Just gives Lenin more fuel for the fire and does nothing to help straighten out her problem with Leon. Why does Fanny keep saying that Leon is the one who has to make their relationship work by fighting to keep them together. A relationship takes two people to work, and all Fanny does is run to Lenin.

Even though some of you in Viewerville thought Lenin was being so mature and understanding by not pushing Fanny during her rebound stage from Leon, I just thought it was more of Lenin's BS to continue trying to mold her into the female he wants her to be and the female that he has all the answers for because, of course, he knows what is right for her !

Oh well, enough ranting. Let's get past the Christmas episodes and on to some real action.

It's kind of weird that Angel already has his backup in the wings, Magda; and Jen now has Johnny. What happened to Doro and Yomama? Maybe she'll go after Zeus next!! Who does Soledad go for, not to mention virgin Bruno and Manuela -- and Beatrice who unfortunately tagged onto IkkyLizard early on.

At least we have PLENTY of episodes left to try to tie up all these loose ends and more to come.

Jardinera, thanks for the recap. Especially loved the last line. Very poetic!

Victoria, ITA with you and your opinion of Lenin with his "understanding" attitude just being more of his BS.

Best funny parts:

The old pie in the face: second only to the whoopie cushion in humor potential.

Lenin introducing himself as "Lenin" and Bruno introducing himself as "Mao".

All in all, I enjoyed the episode. If the plot is in a holding pattern, at least we had some entertainment.

Jarifa

Oh Jarifa
I forgot about Johnny with his face covered in pie, that's the best looking he's been since day one.

Thanks, J.

A thought or two on Lenin and Leon. Fernando wanted to meet Lenin and I think this little plot segment shows the value of parents knowing their kids' friends. I am not a big fan of Leon or Lenin, but I think it's just fine for young people to date around and get to know different types of people. The rub for me in this novela is that the kids are constantly put in adult situations instead of kid situations. The relationship with Leon went too far too fast; Edith practically lives at the mansion; and Pablo at 15 has pledged his love to Alicia. All just a bit too much for family viewing in what may be my old, crabby viewpoint!

Otherwise, a sweet episode with lots of holiday cheer, punctuated by Freeky's descent into total madness. Gotta love novelaland.

I am guessing that tonight we have some Santa-viewing highjacks from the twins and Luz.

Thanks, Jardinera.

I think this "holding pattern" is so nobody misses anything really important on Christmas day. Anyway, it makes for a welcome extension to Christmas for us, since three weeks later isn't too late.

I'll try to have mine up in time tonight. It's the episode that aired on Christmas Day so there will be more photos than last week.

I agree that things have gone too far too fast for the four older kids. Fanny isn't ready for motherhood and she doesn't have enough life experience to deal with a manipulator like Lenin. The others are way too young to be pledging anything close to love and we all know Alicia can do better.

As to the twins, how old do you think they really are? They're supposed to be 8 in the series but they seem younger to me.

And Alicia'so friend Briana (?), seems to have dropped off the face of the set.

That's true. She seemed so appropriate for Nando, but then there's that age difference.

Speaking of Nando, he does need a makeover. He never seems to go more than one episode with "dry look" hair or contacts or without the bow tie and sweater. And when does he start college?

I was wondering all the same sorts of things, but then this one has me in between the couch and the sandman most epis due to the age levels involved. Not only do you need the old beanie tightened in this one, but you need to be in Jr. High for it to make the most sense. It is a Jr. High girl's romantic dreams/view of the world fulfilled.

Jarifa,
you noted Lenin introducing himself as "Lenin" and Bruno introducing himself as "Mao".

and also when the Pandora cousins showed up he said he knew their faces from somewhere, so Fernando added that they are known as the group Pandora, to which he responded 'yeah, right@!! and I am Luis Miguel!' and Fernando quickly confirmed 'yes! they are the Pandora girls!!' and then is when Ana started again behaving a bit out of order with her greeting.
lol

the moment that i kept laughing, besides seeing Johnny with pie in his face (i agree, he looked great), was when Ana and Fer were kissing, Fanny tried to sneak around them unseen, and she tumbled up the stairs with a glass in her hands and we see Fernando over-reacting (again, my point of him still having that 'quick reaction before thinking') and yelling FANNNNYYYY!!!
I was watching that with my grandson cuddled at my side and we both could not stop laughing...

As far as the Lenin/Fernando convo..
here is what i heard.
Fernando questions why they call him Lenin when his name is Vladimir... Lenin explains that his parents were always followers of the russian socialist leaders, mostly Lenin... and he was also a 'revolutionary' in his expressing his beliefs (which gets a lifted eyebrow from Fernando)... and that he was admiring Fernando for going against the norm of company leaders by employing people (humble people, socially/financially limited, possibly with no official degrees) that other companies pass by... that he saw in that that Fernando was also against inequality/injustice. So Fernando was impressed that he had researched his company and himself... so Lenin said it came in handy for his debates (when he gets into debates about social issues).

ThAnks, Martai. I did this from memory and I gather we both took away different impressions of their meeting each other. Not hard to do. As for the Mao reference, on my screen it was spelled "Mau" so it went right over my head! Good catch!

Thanks Jardinera for the quick recap. Lot of sweet moments, though like anything Osorio, little over the top on scenery and special affects. Silly, but I kept thinking...wow, the poor staff that isn't getting to sit and enjoy and now has to clean all this up. And Johnny with a pie, priceless.

I was actually surprised that Fanny invited Lenin to the party, but I think this was more plot point to get the meeting with Fer over somehow and Fanny may have been still doing it more as inviting a "friend". And at least we got the name explanation. Amazing how this one character brings out the widest divide on viewerville--LOL. But I still don't mind him all that much, and with the explanation of how he was brought up, I can see a bit more why the attitude.

As for Leon, he could tell Laura to go home or at least tell her to not hang all over him for his son's sake. And wish he wouldn't pull that sour face so much. It has the character looking more of a sourpuss and I don't think he's supposed to come off like that. Are the writers trying to change him?

What I'm beginning to find interesting in this TN is that we seem to not have the couples staying together we start with. Obviously Fer and Isa, and Fer isn't even Ana's technical first love, but are the writers telegraphing against the old cliché of your first love is your one and only true love. Truthfully, that drives me batty in some TN's, especially when the heroine is younger than 21.

Angel and whatever her name is...yawn.

So who's going to play Santa? I would think the kids would know their own Dad?

Daisynjay

Thank you so much Jardinera.

I agree this is a teen girl dream come true but unlike La Gata, I like this one and have come to laugh and be mildly entertained when I go with the family theatrical productions. I don't like anything Juan though.

Don't like Leon or Lenin for Fanny for different reasons. However, Fanny is getting on my nerves, she doesn't seem any more settled in what she wants now as when she dropped out of the private university. Her dalliance with the poor and poor boys an indulgence she can afford because her daddy can. Hate it because I like her.

For all his book smarts and odd romances with two broken older girls, Nando is an insecure mess. I actually thought one of the cute girls that were admiring him at his high school more in line with whom he should be with if anyone. He's not wise, he's a 17 year old boy.

Thanks, Jardinera, for the recap!

Really, Magda? "I'll have as many babies as you want if you will only take me back?" Vomit.

I felt embarrassed for the kids having to dress in ridiculous costumes (poor Nando in that Angel garb) and sing and dance. Just silly.

I enjoyed Luz as the shining star but got bored afterwards with the rest, though I appreciated the peek into the various types of celebratory doings. The skits not so much this time.

Here is a good link to a version of the Mexican Posada song that they were singing in two groups on opposide sides of the door, simulating Mary and Joseph arriving at Bethlehem and not finding a place to stay so going from door to door...

Hi Everyone! Thanks Jardinera, awesome recap.
I am with Traveling Lady on the adult themes for these kids. Unfortunately times have changed. Kids are no longer allowed to be kids with sex been used everywhere. Lenin just reminds me of those people who protest too much. I am willing to bet he secretly envies the wealthy. Jaun grows on you, kinda like a toe fungus. Takes a while to treat but eventually it goes away.
Hanna

Lenin needs to realize that the idle rich need a first-generation educated class in order to make the world work. Maybe he will learn that. Fernando is "working rich" which is best.

I actually like Lenin. Then again, I like Johnny, too.

I think Alicia would quickly tire of Pablo if the adults weren't so strict about her and Pablo. I wonder if Fernando & Fanny Sr. were this strict with Fanny at that age. Somehow, I don't think so.

Jardinera: thanks for the recap.

Looking forward to seeing Reeky's descent into madness.
