Que Te Perdone Dios #5 Fausto earns himself a spot in hell
We start the episode with Renata pointing a gun at Fausto, she demands to know if he was responsible for the death of Pablo, he asks if Macaira was the one who told her this, and Renata tells him she has no reason to doubt anything Macaira says, thus confirming that Mac was the one who let the cat out of the bag. Fausto tries to calm a hysterical Renata by telling her not to trust Macaira because she is a snake (true, oh so true!) but Renata is not having it. I shout at her to shoot him, but does she? Nope. Instead she cries and cries some more which allows Fausto to disarm her.
They argue some more and Fausto makes it clear he is not letting her go because she is his meal ticket. You see Bruno's will stated that Fausto was a sort of manager of his assets, should Renata and her mother leave, Fausto gets zero, nothing, nada. Even from the grave Bruno manages to screw things up for Renata and his wife. Fausto has zero incentive to let the women go, the second they leave he is left with nothing.
Renata screams that she hates him and that she's going to run away with the baby {Note to everyone who is planning on running away from home:Don't announce your plans!}Renata runs up the stairs trying to get away from her murderous husband but she's really slow and he catches up with her, which leads us to one of the more disturbing scenes of the night. Fausto forces himself on Renata. When she tries to threaten him by saying she will report the rape to the police he tells her no one will believe her, especially given her reputation. If she slept with a simple farm hand she's bound to sleep with anyone, he tells her he will break her down so that she never even hold her head up high, because no one makes a fool out of him.
This is depressing. It's 2015 for goodness sake and we are still getting this in novelas? What does it matter if she slept with half the town? Renata still had the right to not want to sleep with Fausto. Ugh, I'm so annoyed!
Constanza walks in as Fausto leaves Renata's bedroom, she goes in to check on her and soon realizes what's happened, she is furious and goes to confront Fausto. The way he talks to these women chills me to the bone, he's so freaking calm as he tells her that it's better if she stays on his good side, he's not going anywhere and he has the power to make her life hell. Constanza goes back to her daughter and finds her looking for her passport, Renata let's her know that she is leaving with her baby, she has a duty to protect her the way her mother never protected her, Constanza says "what will happen to me" and Renata tells her she should come along with her.
Fausto goes to see Macaira and tells her that she will pay for selling him out. Macaira it seems has kept the gun that was used to kill Pablo, all she needs now is to learn where he is buried, if Fausto harms her in any way she will use this information to make sure he rots in hell. Ah, if that's not true love I don't know what is!
Renata and her mom come up with a plan. They tell Fausto that the baby is sick and needs to be taken to the clinic, because of the weather they can't wait around for the doctor and babies can get worse real fast if not given proper medical attention. Fausto refuses to let Renata go with the baby and instead Constanza and Macaira take the baby to the clinic, Renata excuses herself and says she's going to her bedroom to pray. Macaira and Constanza leave with Benito (who I swear is such a good guy I can almost see a halo over his head) and Renata then makes a run for it. Sadly Lucio sees her leaving and snitches to Fausto, who then gets into a truck and with Lucio chases after Renata. Oh Lucio, don't you know? Snitches get stitches and end up in ditches.
More bad luck befalls Renata as a man with an unholy amount of cattle happens to be crossing directly in front of her path. The delay allows Fausto and Lucio to catch up with her, Fausto orders Lucio to run her off the road, Lucio hits Renatas SUV which causes it to flip over. Renata is injured but not dead, as Fausto gets ready to do her in Lucio warns him that there are people around and Renata lives to see another day.
Flashforward to 18 years later:
Renata is seen telling her story to the local priest, the accident caused her to lose her sight, she has lived years under her husbands thumb but at least she has managed to be around her daughter whom she adores. She is too scared of telling the girl the truth because she might hate her. We also learn that Renata still believes that Macaira is a good friend, in fact she counts her as her only friend, she says that Mac has been a good mother to Abigail, her devotion has run so deep that she has never married, even though she has had many men interested in her. We also learn that Constanza lost her marbles.
The priest has come to talk to Constanza, asking her to come to a church service. Costanza refuses to leave the house because she's afraid Fausto is trying to kick her out of her home and keep all the lands for himself and his mistress, Macaira! Ooooh, she might be crazy but she's not stupid!
The flash-forward also introduces us to a grown up Abigail, who is seen swimming like her mother years before her did in the same little river, she's having a good swim when Fausto shows up and admonishes her for swimming half naked, he tells her one of the ranch hands might see her and try to get handsy with her, he warns her that she better not get knocked up like her mother and tells her to get dressed and go home-dude, she was NOT half naked, she was wearing a dress and I think socks-while swimming! He tells her to get dressed and go home! She tells him that she will and as soon as he leaves she goes right back to the river, take that Fausto!
After her swim she meets up with Diego, and I think I'm in love. He is as the kids would say "straight up gorgi" meaning "drop dead gorgeous" those eyes, those eyelashes, that white horse, oh you read that right, he comes with a white horse. They talk about Fausto and what a grumpy man he is, they also talk about Mateo and how he and Diego are not as close as they used to be. Mateo went on to become a doctor and Diego nothing more than a farm hand, things are not the same as they used to be. Abigail tells him that Mateo still cares deeply about his childhood friend and that he always asks her to say "hi" to him when he writes to her, "he writes you letters often?" asks Diego, "All the time" answers Abi. Diego looks less than happy.
Macaira is tending to her chores when Lucio approaches her. You see, Lucio has a thing for her and he tells her so, he says he feels sorry for her because all she gets from Fausto are crumbs, what she deserves is a man that will give her the world, she asks him if he thinks he's that man and he says "yes!"- she looks him in the eye and tells him that he's not enough of a man for her, and that his "little hands" are never going to touch her body. Oh, burn.
In another town we see a grown up Mateo, he is getting ready for work when his mom comes in and gives him a letter from Abi, she expresses that she's very proud of him, he said he would be a doctor and he pulled it off! Mateo then goes to work and has a flirty exchange with a blond who he later kisses inside his office, so I'm guessing she's his butt-buddy.
Back at the ranch Diego takes Abi home on his very good looking horse. He tells her that for her birthday he is going to give her a very pretty gift, she tries to get him to tell her what it is but he won't budge. He gives her a hug and just then the witch also known as Macaira comes out of the house demanding that he stop kissing and hugging her daughter.
And that's it for this one folks! I'll see you all next Friday!

I see you share my exasperation that Renata does wrong by making her annoucements. Didn't she learn the first time with her hateful dad. I believe that is why Bruno liked Fausto because are both male chauvenists pigs!!!! Common denominator.
So, after the time jump, the only two adult characters who got new actors were Macaria and Renata? Meanwhile, the two younger men, the two guys vying to be the capataz, stayed the same?
Pepe- Are you saying that older Macaria looks more than or less than 18 years older than her younger edition? FYI. Sabine is exactly twice the age of Alejandra- 48 vs 24.
"{Note to everyone who is planning on running away from home:Don't announce your plans!}" and "Ooooh, she might be crazy but she's not stupid!" were my favorites.
I think you hit the nail on the head with noting that it is 2015 and elements of this storyline certainly seem dated. It seems unimaginable that in this day and age people still care about people's pasts. As you noted, "What does it matter if she slept with half the town? Renata still had the right to not want to sleep with Fausto". To me, it simply says she has standards. Unlike many other women in this who seem to find him attractive. Blech.
I was surprised I like Mark Thatcher - but I like Ferdinando more.
A few comments about the actors ages. I had not seen Iran before but thought she was well into her 40's and thought her miscast here. I thought Sergio was at least 10 years older than he is. I'm a Sabine fan and think she is gorgeous.
Diana
I want to heap praise on this line (as have others.)
If they are going to keep up with these sort of plot devices, then for the love of cacahuates please make them period pieces!!!
I find it difficult to enjoy a TN based on marital rape and machismo. *grumblegrumble*
Many thanks for the recap. I would find this kind of stuff harder to recap than the swill we get on La Gata.
Fausto can't control himself whenever he saw Abigail swimming. Something bad tells me he's going to try to rape her.
So we are only 5 episodes in and we already have to endure a female character being sexually abused....lovely.
Diana, I too like Ferdinando. That's why in the discussion page I said I will call him Adolfito instead of Diego. I really liked him in Robo.
The way Renata was frantically looking around after the crash you could tell something wasn't right even though she never said in that moment that she couldn't see. Again, I would have never guessed she was going to end up blind.
I don't think I've ever seen a TN where the galan first appears shirtless. He was supposed to be working, not making out with his girlfriend in his office.
Hmmm, Fausto is shown combing his hair back in front of a mirror and later Doc Mateo is shown doing the same thing.
Vivi gave us age differences but like Pepe, I didn't see it.
2015---Could it be that we are dealing with a different culture here? Another thing, this is a country culture not big city life.
I think that in pretty much every country China, Africa, Europe, and yes Latin America, traditions and attitudes are different in the rural areas than they are in the cities. Maybe the macho attitude still is prevalent in rural Mexico today. If in fact this isn't true then the writers are probably going a little bit overboard to give us Drama with a capital D.
the gringo
Finally! The time jump!
"Casi desnuda"? Really Fausto? She had on a full body bathing suit.
I liked Ferdinado as Diego.
Poor Constanza. She has lost her marbles but as Eli pointed out she's not stupid. She must have seen Macaria and Fausto together.
I loved when Macaria told Lucio that he'd never get his little old hands on her body.
Poor Renata. Her dad did ruin her life. I hope she gets her sight back at some point in the story.
Not sure why Mateo and Altair character pretended not to know each in the lobby.
I'm liking this TN better now that the time jump has occured.
Diego was very handsome and i like Altair already ,hopefully she wont be playing an annoying as hell schoolgirl like she ussualy does but a true, deadly villian!
I was not convinced by crazy Connie she became smart as hell.
It will take time to take use to Mark Tacher but i will try my best. And i hated the swim scene and Fausto's hypocritical advice to Abigail like "No men can abuse you ,but i can!"
Big question is how far Fausto will go in upping the ante similar to Feo of PSMA ?
I always liked Iran, but not in this TN. Her crying was the worst, the way she shut eyes so tight it made zillions of wrinkles. LOL! She was made out to be not so smart. Very annoying.
I can't believe Fausto is only 56!
He surely looks 10 years older than his age.
Looking forward to this TN.

IDK why but I feel we'll see shades of grey with Fausto like all of SG's villains (like Gabino from Mi Pecado, Rosendo from STD and Ramon from Piel de Otono. There are shades of grey with his baddies but they're subtle.)
I think his one relentless villain was Yago in Rubi.

My fave quotes:
"Instead she cries and cries some more which allows Fausto to disarm her." All of Viewerville was screaming shoot the bastard right along with ya! --Dammit! Daddy should have told her that you don't ever point a gun at anyone unless you really, really, really plan to kill 'em!!!!! Another telenovela heroin that hasn't the strength of her darned convictions! Sheesh! What oh what does this say about the female of our species?
"Note to everyone who is planning on running away from home:Don't announce your plans!" And a definite no-no, ITSA
"What does it matter if she slept with half the town? Renata still had the right to not want to sleep with Fausto." Double ITSA! Brava, amiga!

Yes, indeedy, SG never fails when playing the so called disgusting pig roles. He did not let us down, did he? Love it--and him!!
What a great cast in this one! Man, that was Iran Castillo? She has definitely been MIA in Univision noveladom for the past few years. I didn't recognize her with the blond hair and eyebrows. She's mediocre, but like an old shoe, she's comfortable to have in the role of the younger Renata. As for Orange is, I figured that the muy blue contacts were the important give-away.....
Anywho Abrazame is my absolute favorite novela but this has already outdone it with Ferdinando. How can Pablo Montero compete with this hunk??
And I'm so glad to see Sabine Moussier again, love her in everything she plays a nasty villain.
