TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Dueños del Paraíso, Los Miserables, Tierra de Reyes, etc - Week of Jan. 19, 2015
A special welcome to the new commenters here, and a huge thank-you to the talented recappers who are keeping the enterprise going.
Enjoy your page and your week, folks.
Labels: duenos, miserables, telemundo, tierra
I'm loving both Tierra and Dueños and I'm grateful to the recappers and enjoy reading the comments.
I decided to copy cat you and make the Dueños logo my avatar. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
;-)
I'll be watching tomorrow when Telemundo puts it up on their website ... Looking forward to recaps and comments.
Okay, recappers, my previous admiration for you all has been redoubled. How do you do it? I said I would try a "junior recap," so I got out my notepad and watched. I tell you, trying to take notes, I missed more than I got! Tomorrow, I will watch it online, as I usually do, and try to fill in some gaps. Oy!
Please, all, correct my errors and add to this in any way possible!
So, bullet points, lxv, said.
Last capitulo, El Diablo showed up at the police station, playing his twin brother Rafael, the lawyer. This one, he tells Daniel his - Rafael's - story, how the twins grew up differently, how Rafael's inability to walk was traumatic paralysis, then he raves about his savior, his Angel Lucha, "Una grand mujer."
Helena finds out that Pablo really was there with Ivanna - some of us had hoped Ivanna was lying about that; wasn't he at the station questioning Lucha when Helena first got to his place? Helena is angry, walking away, as Pablo protests that as long as she has decided to stay with "that animal" Radames, what right does she have to object to his being with anyone.
Deyanira in the hospital cafeteria, in order to avoid Carlos, has taken a seat with a man in hospital garb (anyone know who he is?), who is obviously flattered by her wanting to sit with him, and admits to being attracted to her.
Oleg, as Abogado Raf, tells Dan that he - Oleg - was pathological. He gives Dan the secret videos he took of everyone at his place. Dan introduces a startled Pablo to Oleg's twin. After Oleg leaves, Pablo looks skeptical of alleged-Rafael. Oleg keeps going on about Lucha his Angel, and Dan is looking sour about that.
Liliana is planning a meeting with - anyone know who they are - the Columbians? Are they the ones that had been in competition with Oleg's cartel?
León: "He is identical," about Oleg/Raf.
Pablo: "He is identical." Dan gives him the videos to study.
Lily at meeting with new business partners-to-be gets grabbed by the leader of them, knees him in the groin and warns him to call off his partners, who have moved to stop her.
Oleg/Raf, saying he will assist in her defense, visits Lucha in prison. She first acts very happy to see him, then looks unsure of him, but still goes with believing him.
Lily tells her new associates that they will be making much money.
Adriana and Abel at her ultrasound are thrilled! Adriana says she is the happiest woman in the world. Doctor tells them, after, that Adriana is better than she was, and that it is crucial that she keeps a positive attitude, and has confidence in him. A + A say they do have confidence in him. He goes on about positivity and calm and being healthy and happy and trusting him. All happy.

I am not sure I got this. Anyone? Has Oleg edited the videos and they now "contradict" Lucha's story (anyone have more details of that)? Dan insists that Pablo, León - and Rodriguez? - hold off on judging the videos until they are varified as authentic.
Lucha, back at prison, tells Oleg/Raf he has been "a great friend," but looks very uncomfortable when he takes her hand.
Chelo tells Helena that Radames being the father of her child does not mean she has to stay married to him.
Dan says he "can't believe" the twin story, but without proof either way, still has to believe it.
Lily, Radames, Genaro see Oleg/Raf in the hotel and freak some. Oleg definitely glares at Lily, though will next pretend not to know who they are, as he goes to his room. The trio rushes to hotel desk to check his name on the guest register. Lily says it is all very odd.
Nuria sees Oleg in hallway, kind of freaks, too. Oleg grins as elevator closes.
Lily, "We killed Oleg." Nuria and Genaro: "It's his twin." Lily: "I don't believe this story, It's a trap."
I missed the scene between Lily and Oleg, sorry.
Rod and León run into A + A outside doctor's office. They have an appointment with Doctor - for … did I get this right? … for contraceptives? But Rod is consumed by thoughts of Adriana, so León leaves the office. He says, "what if it's my baby?" - it was clear Adriana is pregnant. León very unhappy.
Lily knows something is up about Oleg/Raf, but Genaro points out that Oleg had that gold tooth, and this man doesn't (the one we saw him have replaced for his switch to Rafael).
Dan and shrink: he is freaking about being wrong about Lucha, says something like he is the worst person in the universe? Anyone know his words there?
Lucha is on trial for murdering César Mondragón. She tells her side, and Dan looks pretty sick as he realizes how wrong he has been.
"Several Weeks Later"
Lili is celebrating her, their new business.
Oleg/Raf testifies at Lucha's trial. "Oleg was obssessed with Lucia." "Was she with Oleg involuntarily?" "Absolutely."
Nuria sneaks into and searches Olge/Raf's hotel room, finds Oleg's old cowboy boots. "I KNEW it! He is El Diablo!"
LUCIA IS FOUND INNOCENT of César's murder! Everyone clapping, some tears, Lucha expresses deep gratitude to Oleg/Raf, his testimony being crucial to proving her innocence.
- (omg, are we going to see her and Rafael together, after all, except it being Olegario?! NOOOO!!!)
Lucha and Dan look at each other in that meaningful way of theirs.
Dan looks like he feels aalmost as guilty as he should feel.
Is that where it leaves off? I was so breathless trying to keep up and take notes at the same time, I don't even know! I will repair my errors after actually watching closely tomorrow! Thanks to all who bear with me for now!

We’re back in the bathroom at the disco. Inside a stall Gina tells Nataniel that she gave him 5 years of her life. She’s not going to abort, and she’s going to fight for him. Anastasia has her pistol drawn, but Renato appears and stops her from shooting anyone.
Ignacio Elizondo is in some cheap motel looking at what appears to be a porno magazine, when he hears a knock. It’s Adán and Conrado’s neighbor, the woman with the extravagant ‘fro. She says she’s Kimberley. So I guess she pays the rent at the apartment with some light hooking.
Ricardo Riquelme is almost one foot out the door when Saúl, his partner stops him. He says they need to go to a crime scene. There’s been a shooting downtown.
While Ignacio and “Kimberley” are well into it, there’s a knock at the door. The guy says he’s room service and tries to enter with a gun. Ignacio easily disarms him.
Back at the disco Nat indulges in some kissing with Gina. She again says she loves him and won’t abort. He gets nasty and tells her she needs to get back out on the street she came from, piruja de porquería (dirty whore). Wow, the bloom is surely off this rose!
Iggy has the would-be assassin down on the floor. He stabs him and gets him to admit that it was Nataniel Cardona’s main bodyguard that sent him.
Back to the disco. We get some disco music and disco dance moves before Anastasia lights into Renato for not letting her shoot Nat and/or Gina. Renato tells her his mission is to protect her, but he also has loyalty to Nat. She tells him he has to choose.
Adán and Conrado have another of their endless conversations about selling or not selling coke. Conrado reminds him they’re both unemployed and have no money. Esparza arrives to tell them he’s finalized the deal with Cardona; he’ll pick up 50 kilos of cocaine first thing in the morning. [My memory tells me this is half of what Anastasia and Irene muled into the US.] Esparza says they’ll be millionaires in no time!
Anas tells Renato that Nat made a fool of her all these years while she had sworn eternal love to him. She says he covered her in luxuries, but rolled around with Gina for 5 years. And now Gina is pregnant and will give him the only thing she could not give him – a child. She asks Renato a series of questions: “Doesn’t it seem awful to you that he left me alone during a firefight? Doesn’t it seem awful to you that he doesn’t give a damn about my being raped? Doesn’t it seem awful to you that he used me as a drug mule? Do you think I deserve this?” He agrees that she doesn’t deserve this treatment and she hugs him.
Whoa! Nat is coming out of the bathroom and sees Anastasia and Renato embracing. Renato touches her face to wipe away a tear. It looks pretty suspicious from where Nat stands. But Renato tells her that he respects her more than his own life, but he can’t harm Nat. She gets angry and tells him to leave, that she never wants to see him again.
Nat tells the second in command bodyguard that he wants Renato Maldonado’s head in his office first thing in the morning!
Ricardo and Saúl have visited their crime scene, the taco truck where one of Anastasia’s rapists was shot down, together with his girlfriend. A uniformed cop tells Saúl there’s another hit in a bar in South Beach, presumably the “waiter” we saw do the hit last week.
The assassin Renato sent to kill Ignacio is called Martinez. He calls Renato at the disco and tells him he finished the job without any problem. The 70’s lack of cell phones is fun to watch. After saying what he was supposed to, Martinez is shot in the head by Iggy. Iggy then proceeds to want to have sex with “Kimberley” with a corpse in the room!
Renato approaches Anas and tells her that the three rapists are all dead.
It seems to me that the exterior of Nataniel Cardona’s house in Miami looks funny from the exterior, almost like a CGI image. Inside this house Nat confronts Renato about being a traitor. He asks how Renato could stab him in the back that way. He says he saw Renato touching his wife at the club. Nat says he never understood why his father cared so much about Renato and his mother (Hmm. Maybe Nat and Renato are really half brothers.) Renato says he’s grateful for what Nat’s father did. Nat says Renato would be six-feet under if it were not for him saving him from the Santa Norma cartel. Renato insists he’d never touch Nat’s wife. Nat tells him he has 5 minutes to get away alive.
Then Nat peeks out the window as the Number 2 bodyguard points a gun at Renato. Renato disarms and then shoots another bodyguard. He asks #2 why he’d do that after their working together for 10 years. The guy replies that the boss ordered it. Renato first punches the guy and then shoots him.
Anas runs out of the house in a very fetching short nightie. When she asks what happened, he tells her that her husband ordered his death. Anas tells him that Nat is an animal, and he should have let her kill the two of them in the bathroom. Renato tells her that from now on he’s completely on her side, for whatever she wants him to do, including killing that son of a bitch Cardona!
Nat has a good instinct for self-preservation and peels out of the driveway en route to Gina’s hotel. They have the same argument in the morning about the abortion. Gina asks him if he ever loved Anastasia and he replies that he loved her very much. There’s a knock at the door. Anastasia says she just wants to talk. He accuses her of opening her legs for Renato and gets a backhanded slap for it. She tells him to get in the car and drive off.
Renato insists that Gina accompany him, saying the boss asked him to bring her to the house.
Adán is speaking to his tío on the phone. His mother is somewhat better and they can operate. Adán says he’s sending the money that very day. His wife and daughter congratulate him on his “business” with Conrado. He tells them Conrado lent him the money. Later Adán tells Conrado that he’ll do the drug sale once and only once.
Anas drives out into a more rural area with Nat in the car. He asks where they’re going. He finally loses patience and pulls a gun on her. She swerves the car, almost hitting a school bus, and gets the gun away. She points it at him, trembling.
Luciana is in class, conducted in English. She is asked to introduce herself and says her name, in English, and that she’s from Hermosillo, Sonora México. The mean girls cackle, but Chad tells them to cut it out. He introduces himself and tells Luciana that he knows Spanish.
Anastasia marches Nataniel into some house. He smirks at her a bit. Renato shows up with Gina and tells her to lower the gun. Nat also tells her to lower the gun, that it’s a shame to end this way after so many years of love. She yells at him that he never loved her. He says she was the most beautiful and desired girl in the town. He says he never lied to her; he always said he was incapable of being faithful. Then he insults her. He says she might dress up in fine clothes, wear beautiful makeup, but she’ll always be the pirujita, hija del puta del barrio (the little whore daughter of the whore of the neighborhood). “Tell me, he says, did you enjoy yourself with Quezada’s men?” She tells him to shut up and moves toward him. Gina lunges forward. Nat tries to get the gun, but it goes off in his stomach. Anastasia: “I really did love you.” And she shoots him in the head. Gina begs for her life. Anas tells her to shut it. That from now on she’s the only one who’s going to cry out.
Conrado tells Adán that he’s waiting for a call from Esparza about picking up the coke.
Anastasia takes a tray up to Gina. She forces her to eat some soup. She tells her that she now works for her. She’s going to take care of the baby. Gina is safe while that baby is inside her.
Iggy has somehow managed to find the warehouse where Nat’s drugs are held and waits outside in a car.
Anas tells Renato they have to decide what to do. She coldly says that “the dead guy” left knowing the contacts in Colombia. They don’t have cash. And the coke is thousands of kilometers from here. [I didn’t understand this. I thought the coke was in a warehouse in Miami.]
Ignacio sees Esparza, Adán and Conrado arrive at the warehouse. They tell the guy inside that they’re the distributors, and they come out with three bags full. Esparza tries it before they leave. It’s called alas de mariposa (butterfly wings), the purest there is.
Anastasia is driving back to the house. She stops at a light and sees Ignacio in the next lane. It’s not clear to me if he saw her or not. She remembers hearing Renato tell her all three rapists were dead.
ah Aficionada, what a wonderful surprise!
the spanish captions were a bit scrambled tonight so I had lots of questions too,
I was thinking the videos were showing both Olegario and Rafael together, proving there were two brothers, but Daniel's sixth sense (which doesn't work with Lucia) was telling him there is something fishy here.
I think it was Genaro's police contacts that tipped him on there being a twin brother, (I'm really not getting this Genaro thingy, there are good cops and bad cops, but then there are the ones that turn on their fellow cops, and he is just out walking around).
I think, and that Genaro mentioned this, that Olegario's body was badly burned and was only identified by dental records, basically the gold tooth.
loving A&A, a friend is worth more than ANYTHING, could Leon be pregnant too?
it's been weeks, did Abel tell his dad, and where are Roxana, Memin, and the flash drive, did Olegario send Anselmo and the guys on vacation.
I think this was a retrial, and Lucha was found innocent for lack of evidence.
I can tell a difference between Olegario and Rafael (Gabriel Porras does this good) and I'm sure Lucia suspects as well.
with Nuria floating around as a maid, a bit heavy on the make-up, and among other things, this hotel is a real nightmare, I hope I never end up staying there.
novelera, you are SO good at this!
hmm, I don't think I've been in a club where the had a sign limiting one person to a bathroom stall, let alone a urinal that looks like lips.
Anastasia is no spring chicken, I'm so glad Renato didn't die.
for me, I'll take one of those hierro tequilas with blood,
not shaken or stirred.
after all, this is a Pablo Illanes' story.
took me a while, but last Friday, didn't Leonardo go into the kitchen and take a capsule apart, empty it out, and add his own powder to it?
And thank you for filling in so many gaps for me! I hope seeing it, and a few others I missed, this afternoon online - without taking notes - will clear up some more pieces for me, and I will post what clears up. I will check for things you wondered about too. Yes, "did Abel tell his dad, and where are Roxana, Memin, and the flash drive, did Olegario send Anselmo and the guys on vacation."
" ... Daniel's sixth sense (which doesn't work with Lucia)" YES!!! grrr!
I thought Genaro heard it from cops, too. "[Genaro] he is just out walking around ... " I keep thinking the same thing!
I will watch for more about Leon and their being at the doctor's. hmmmm ... Leon pregnant. How sad that timing would be.
This, LOL! : " ... this hotel is a real nightmare, I hope I never end up staying there." I'm with you! As scary as it already was, "Nuria floating around as a maid," with that riotous make-up ... I am still laughing out loud, deb! (I guess as a maid, Nuria didn't have to sneak in, ah? I must figure out how to watch and make notes at the same time, sheesh!)
"loving A&A, a friend is worth more than ANYTHING," Me too, and so true! I once did not like either of them too much, but they have become nearly my favorites because of exactly what you say, and their courage to live honestly - Abel, closer to it by the day.
Thank you, too, about it being a REtrial. I also had not known if it was a trial VERSUS a hearing of some kind, so I used that word twice-too-lightly. I am so glad it was a final verdict - thank goodness.
A good day to you!

If you'd like, I can take a turn tonight. It does take a lot of time. What I do is watch the regularly scheduled show on the TV while I do an hour on my exercise bike, strictly for my own enjoyment. Then, the next morning (or middle of the night, if I'm having insomnia) I try to reconstruct from memory and if that fails, I have to bite the bullet and watch again on the internet to pick up what I missed. And yes, it's hard to write that fast. But congratulations! Your 1st recap was a great success. Looking forward to more.
Gracias Aficionada
Do we know for sure that Rafael is dead?
Duenos
Tks so much Novelera
I kept yelling at Anastasia, "shoot him" before Nat got the gun.
I don't understand the significance of that house where Anas shot Nat.???
Novelera, many thanks for another great recap. I missed some key aspects that your recap cleared up for me. The recap seems to me to cover everything. The only thing I can think of to add is that, IIRC, after seeing Ignacio in the car, she tells Renato that he was mistaken, the third rapist is still alive. (Though perhaps this happened in the avances? I don't think so, but I'm not sure.)
lxv! - blushing! Thank you so very much!!! Coming from YOU, "WOW WOW & WOW!" grin
It WAS fun!! And your encouragement and these added tips will make it all the more fun! I think you do have quite a good memory. I am going to try more the way you suggest, maybe just jot some tiny reminders, rather than try to shorthand scenes.
It would be very nice of you to do tonight, thank you. Then, I will tomorrow night. Perfect, in fact. I will probably add comments, too. It pleases me very much to contribute to this great blog, and to your excellent recaps!
Have a most fine day!

Variopinta, ¡Gracias a TI!
"Do we know for sure that Rafael is dead?"
I keep hoping we will find out otherwise, but it sure looks dim. I am still to see some recent capitulos i missed, online, so I may find something that adds to the hope! Will post it, either way.
Did you ever get to try the YouTube videos? Also, the TM ones worked MUCH better over the weekend. Either someone keeps trying to make it better, or it has something to do with rush-hour kind of thing, high demand times, or something??
¡Que tenga un buen día!

Genero does have a contact in the department who keeps him informed and does stuff for him. I wonder who that traiter will turn out to be.
The video did not contradict Lucia's story. Daniel just suspects that it could be an elaborate ruse. I'm sure when he finds out that Rafael is really Olegario, he'll go back to accusing Lucia.
What I missed is, when did Rafael get a gold tooth implant? It felt like they skipped an episode right around that time.
I hope the Columbianos are working with Olegario to get revenge on Liliana. I kinda like the Columbian jefe.
I'm bored with the Pablo & Helena story line.
It was nice to see Liliana and company fretting about El Diablo returning from the dead!
Where is Anselmo?
-Anselmo's bf
I enjoyed your great recap. Thank you! Am I mean? I was hoping that El D would catch Nuria. She's so
annoying. I loved the actor who is playing Genaro as
the admiral in Lo Que, but can't stand him in this one
so I guess he's good at his job.I was SO WRONG
about Pablo and Ivanna. Although I still like him, it
seems to me that if he had a strong character and
really loved Elena, he wouldn't be jumping into bed
with Ivanna so soon. That's just me.
AnonGringa
Thanks a lot Aficionada, lookin' good!
I can add that Dr. told Adriana she has a serious kidney condition, has to see a specialist and follow a strict diet, besides maintaining the positivity.
deb, hotel as nightmare, Lily asked Oleg/Rafa "why sre you staying here when there are so many hotels in D.F.?"
I think Lucha can pick up on Oleg's speech patterns as different from Rafa.
Clara
Heck of a recap, Novelera. Well done. You definitely filled in alot of the missing parts I was curious about.
I totally thought Ana was going to drive into the bus.
I'm so glad Ana "popped" her old man ... Can't wait to start seeing her run the organization ... I'm not sure of the significance of the house she killed him in.
Gina better be more careful while being pregnant if that's all that is saving her life from Ana now
(Hint - No more Coke, Gina.)
Looking forward to the next episode.
again. Thank you. If Nat had talked to me like that,
I would have shot him too. No tears for that one!
AnonGringa
Still no luck, stops in middle of 1st
ad, and no sound, I give up. I haven't tried youtube, I'm so frustrated by that time, I don't give a mierda. Worse than Televisa.
Thankfully, I have the wonderful recaps of our Carayers.
Thanks for the wonderful recap, Novelera! You really bring the scenes back so we can revisit the insane world Anas is in.
I was glad Nat got killed, especially after not only mistreating Anas, abandoning her several times, making her be a drug mule, and insulting her. And then ordering Renato to be killed, when he was still really faithful to Nat. Of course the first shot was an accident, and the second was still in the heat of the moment, so that Anas feels a little guilty. But it's time to move on.
I think "the drugs are in Colombia" means all the ones besides the 50 kilos she and Irene brought in. About those 50, Anas was at a few of the meetings with Esparza, Conrado and Adan, so maybe she will work with them. BTW, those 3 guys are so NOT into violence, and with Iggy watching them, they are out of their league. Could Adan end up having to use force? So far, no way.
I thought Riquelme's first name was Mauricio.
I enjoyed the scene in school, where the teacher said every word in a thick latino accent, except the word "arriba" which she said with a totally American accent!
I was wrong about the 50 kilos of cocaine being half what Anastasia and Irene brought in. I still screw up the metric system all the time! Anyway, what our 3 amigos picked up was ALL of the drugs Nat had at his disposal. This is pretty weird when you think about it, that he'd trust 3 strangers he just met with his entire "net worth" in drugs.
Hombre, I also get a big kick out of the people they have speaking English on Telemundo. The dern network is in Miami and they can't find any bilingual people to speak English without a terrible accent? There have to be thousands of them. My co-workers, many born in Mexico, all have children who speak both languages to perfection, with no accent in either language.
Yes, Riquelme's first name is Mauricio. It's taking me a while to get all the cast names dialed in.
Aficionada, thanks for an excellent recap.
I thought it was funny how quickly Evaristo stopped kissing Leon when Andriana yelled out his name. I hope the writers don't drag this out much longer, especially since her life is at stake. Yet I'd also hate to see another cop/coworker break Leon's heart. I gave up on Abel a long time ago. He may be a nice guy and good friend to Andriana but he's a coward and his character doesn't have much weight.
Everyone senses that there's something suspicious about Rafael but so far noone has said anything. Lucha could easily catch him ...not all of their conversations were recorded. Also, can he really pretend to be a lawyer without faltering.
Hopefully someone realizes that it doesn't take much to shave and get rid of a gold tooth. I could be wrong but I heard them say that a gold tooth was found "at the scene" but not "on the dead? body".
Lastly, someone asked about Anselmo. If I'm correct he's still in jail and it may be too risky for Oleg to get him out.
spanish student
Thank you all for your recaps and comments.
Maybe someone mentioned it already, but Leon told her new interest (the father of Adriana's baby) that she would not be meeting him in the archivos or anyplace else until they came up with a protection plan. That is why they are at the doc's when they run into Abel and Adriana.
deb - yes he did, and yes I'm assuming it was poison, from the stuff he said before he did it and the way he's acting now.
to anyone - bear w/me I missed a bunch and have a couple of questions. First, is Pobre de Patrica sleeping w/the bearded silver fox? If not why does she think she gets to ask favors of him?
And,
Isn't the bearded silver fox a bad guy? I was under the impression from what I had seen that he was the brains behind all the badness going around.
sneaky two shoes- yep, the silver fox, Emilio Valverde (daughter Isadora), is the top bad guy and runs the show (no matter what Leonardo thinks), but how he knows Patricia is that he owned the club where she sang, and Ulises used to run it for him but I think Valverde told Patricia he can't help her because Ulises now owns the club, I don't know if she is sleeping with him but she sure is getting desperate.
deb, yes, Genaro tells Lily and Radames he got the info about Rafael from his informant in the police.
Abel has not told his dad. Memin had said they had to keep the flash drive secret, they promised each other to keep it secret. So, it is still invisible to all but the kids.
As you said, the Judge says Lucia Duran is innocent due to a lack of evidence.
Gabriel Porras DOES do that switch incredibly well! It seems Lucha does suspect now and then, but her gratitude, and her loyalty, to the real Rafael overcomes her doubts … so far! When he took her hand, she was seemed suspicious. When you think of it, Rafael might have been in love with her, but he didn't make moves on her like that, did he?
Anselmo's bf: Thank you for adding info about that episode of Los Mis! It is a big help.
"I'm sure when [Daniel] he finds out that Rafael is really Olegario, he'll go back to accusing Lucia." Wow, I hadn't thought about that! Of course he would! He would ASSUME she and Oleg were in that together, proving what he so wants to believe rather than feeling shame for what he's done to Lucha.
"It was nice to see Liliana and company fretting about El Diablo returning from the dead!" I enjoyed that myself!
AnonGringa: Thank you so much!
"Am I mean? I was hoping that El D would catch Nuria. She's so annoying." LOL If you're mean, then I'm mean, too! She IS annoying! You know, sometimes I am very impressed with the talent of the actress playing her, Elsy Reyes, because she is a genius at annoying! Like the actor playing Genaro, as you say, "can't stand him in this one so I guess he's good at his job." Yes!
"it seems to me that if [Pablo] he had a strong character and really loved Elena, he wouldn't be jumping into bed with Ivanna so soon. That's just me." Me too! And where is the dignity of all these people being USED by other people who actually want still OTHER people? They are all over this tn! Well, all over many a tn.

Clara, Thank you so much! And for adding clarity! Yes, re-watching, I finally caught the part about Adriana's kidneys, the specialist, drink plenty of fluids, stay calm, and all the other.
Variopinta, I am so sorry you're not getting to see it online! You know, I really only succeeded in seeing the TM site videos smoothly on the weekend afternoons, so I do think it has to do with how many are watching at the time. Today, trying to re-watch that capitulo, it took the usual three hours to see one show. If you can't watch the day after, anyway, I definitely recommend YouTube, though. WAY better, just more delayed - well, the capitulo numbers get weird, but once you get that down, it is much better.
"Thankfully, I have the wonderful recaps of our Carayers." I know that feeling, extremely!!
spanish student, thank you so very much! And for more info on that capitulo!
"I thought it was funny how quickly Evaristo stopped kissing Leon when Andriana yelled out his name. I hope the writers don't drag this out much longer, especially since her life is at stake. Yet I'd also hate to see another cop/coworker break Leon's heart." I agree! And I want everyone to get back to the ones they really love, but I like Leon and I wish she wouldn't get hurt AGAIN!
Yes, too, I keep thinking how easily Oleg/Raf could slip up and be found out by Lucha. Scares me, the danger she would be in then, though! As with any who figure him out, really.
I also think someone said the gold tooth was found " 'at the scene' but not 'on the dead body.' " But then, Genaro was it?, says "Olegario" was identified using dental records. It does seem conflicting to me.
newmex1612, thank you for clearing that up about Leon and Rodriguez going to the doctor!
Thanks to all for great recaps! I can not watch Dueños OR Tierra, at this time, but I had already gotten into them, so your recaps really are the whole shows for me, and they are excellent!!
Be well, all!

Also, I will be seeing this latest capitulo tomorrow, so will add comments, or a mini-recap if you could still use that time. I should have thought of that when you offered to recap last night's - I know you have been very busy. Sorry I didn't think of that.
Thank you so very much for your encouragement, from the start!! It has made a great difference for me.
It IS fun!

Aficionada, I'm happy to recap last night's (Tues) while you catch your breath. I have the time today. Thanks for your enthusiasm. So happy to see our little Miserables community spring to life again.
To me Nuria is so much prettier wirhout so much makeup, especially the green eye shadow, and yes, she
is a good actress. I think it's so nice of you to acknowledge everyone's comments. I used to be
hesitant to comment, but you make me feel
comfortable doing it. Thank you!

So, what can be done about the fact that Anas shot Nat? Pin it on their arch enemies, the Quezadas! Anas and Renato meet with the 3 stooges (Adan, Conrado and Mario Alejandro), and remark, Gee, have you seen Nat? Wonder where he could be. At the end of the episode Irene starts asking, and Anas says, haven't seen him, he always disappears for business. But then they hear a copter, Anas rushes out, ignoring Irene's cautions, and sure enough, out of the sky comes Nat's body! Well, that proves the Quezadas did it, right? Also, Anas and Renato told the 3 stooges that their most ruthless rival was Leandro Quezada.
In Colombia, we see Leandro shooting one traitor, having another carved up with a chainsaw, and calling Iggy in Miami, saying kill Nat in 24 hours or you're toast! How convenient for Iggy that Nat's already dead.
The cops, Mauricio and Saul, are starting to suspect our three stooges, since they were, after all, at that restaurant with the shooting. They also find a ring from one of the victims, it has a symbol of a soccer team from Colombia. Uh oh, Colombian drugs in Miami!
Good thing they don't follow the three stooges too closely, as they're already selling the coke, first customer was a Madam of a whorehouse, or maybe just some adult dance club, whom Conrado knew.
Luciana is terrorized by the mean girls, led by blonde Daytona, who I think was in Santa Barbara as someone's daughter Daniela, with darker hair. Chad saves the day, although Lucy's Mom & Dad don't believe she "fell".
I really think Kate is doing a super job of acting in a really complex role.
Thanks, Novelera. Fine recap.
I haven't watched Tuesday's episode yet, but I'm guessing Iggy will be around for awhile.
Renato has a heart and was deft at defending himself against his former colleagues, but Iggy is ruthless. I fear for Renato.
Nat, since according to you, your women are either whores or daughters of whores, what did that make you? Good riddance.
I've never seen a "One Person to a Stall" sign. That was a hoot.
(I’m still not sure what her retrial was for if it was based solely on her sequestration at the hands of Olegario Marrero. How did that circumstance remove the sufficient evidence for her prior conviction in the murder of Cesar Mondragon) But, let’s just leave that for now. It’s a telenovela.
At the courthouse, Lucia is free; Dan stands alone at the back clenching his jaw (someone give that man a bite guard or he’ll have no molars left). “Rafael” greets Lucy warmly with inspiring words about her new future, smiles & hugs all around; Ignacio approaches Dan saying: “you see, my daughter is innocent”, Dan wordlessly (because of all the clenching) swallows hard and turns to leave this heartwarming scene.
Nuria, who’s been sent to spy, (I keep thinking nutria, which is some sort of south american rodent) is cackling to herself over her great discovery: that Rafael really is EL DIABLO! Not very well disguised as a hotel housekeeper she let herself into his room and while rummaging through his closets, she found his stinky cowboys boots. Proof positive! So now, does she go running to Lily with the news, or…
Lucia arrives at Casa Duran after her vindication in court. Her hair seems to have grown another foot since the last epi. “Raf” takes his leave, kissing her hand. She puts Ignacio to bed in the interest of his perpetual high blood pressure. Lucha’s impatient to see her kids who momentarily arrive home from school. Fernanda welcomes her with genuine warmth and expresses affection for the kids “What’s not to love, after all, they’re children.” Lucia says accusingly, “I was a child once and you didn’t love me.” Fernanda is abashed and Lucia quickly relents. Fernanda asks, “Why can’t you all stay here, there’s plenty of room and we’d love to have you.” Lucia declines to invite and they all go over to Deyanira’s.
At police dept, Evaristo pesters Leon. She tells him what ever it was, it’s over now. He says, we’re only just getting started. This pointless lovers quarrel goes nowhere for so long that Pablo finally intervenes, saying: “Why don’t you two just get a room.” Dan stomps in bringing gloom announcing that Lucia Duran is free and he’s going into in office, so don’t bother him. He goes into some serious existential angst: “If Lucia Duran is innocent, then what am I?” Duh. It appears he’s less repentant for the significant harm he has caused to another person than he is jealous that another guy (“Rafa”) has stepped into the breach.
Lily & Radames are at The Rat Pack, HQ up in the big hotel, scheming and counting $$$$ (“en dólares por supuesto”). Rad is squirming over the fact that they have to divide it 3 ways. He’s worried about the Columbian deal, too dangerous. And why is he sniffling like that?; has he been sampling the wares?… He takes a call from Elena who explains that her sister Lucha is free. Cara impactada de Liliana! She goes on a furious rant. A very clever scene in the hotel lobby follows in which “Rafa” & Genaro cannot avoid riding up the elevator together. Some fine comic acting. Lily is still ranting at Radames who tells her to act like a professional and keep a cool head. Genaro arrives and hands Lily a tiny ziplock with something white in it. (could this be the telltale tooth from the police autopsy?—or is it a packet of drugs?) They are expecting a visit from their Colombian cartel contact.
Nuria’s either a brainless floozy or the smartest one in the bunch, but it sort of looked like an accident that she let herself get caught in “Rafa”’s room when he arrived back at the hotel. “How are ya doing cutie?” He feigns ignorance. She calls him on his identity immediately and with the incriminating boots in hand, pressed her point. His fabulous eyebrows work overtime, and he is forced to let down the disguise. She tries selling her wares and he responds by grabbing her around the neck. But he’s only faking. Once she regains her composure, the two of them form an unholy alliance sealing the deal with a roll in the hay. She assures him she knows who she’s working for.
At police HQ, Pablo is informing Dan about the appearance of Juan Caramillo ?, a Columbian drug capo, recently seen in the DF. Dan is practically non-responsive, writhing with remorse. (if you ask me I hope he drowns in it). Pablo leaves him alone and checks in with Marisela (I’m going to start calling her by her “girl” name, Leon seems a bit butch at this point). She calls Carlos to ask him to check in on Dan because I guess they all think that’s a real possibility (the drowning, that is). Carlos extracts some convoluted psychiatric basis for Dan’s inability to accept unconditional love and then counsels him to man up and face the music with Lucia. Admit his error and beg forgiveness. They put some drops in his eyes to make them kind of red, so i’m convinced. (I wish I could muster the first iota of sympathy for this character, but he went way too far with his reckless vengeance for me. All you have to do is look at the opening credits every night to seek that sadistic streak.)
Adriana is lounging in her bedroom, wistfully patting her baby bump with an anxious expression. Something is wrong. Abel rushes in with the good news about Lucia: “Let’s go and celebrate”, but she puts the kibosh demanding to be taken to the hospital, like NOW!. Meanwhile, Marisela is in the doctor’s office to get her prescription for birth control pills and a checkup and bloodwork. She’s doing this on her own, as an independent woman (Is this legal in Mexico does anyone know?). El doctor is starting to write out the script, Abel bursts in: “It’s Adriana…something’s wrong…” Doc rushes off, leaving Marisela to shake her head ruefully. “Adriana, again.”
Deya fills Lucha in on all the intervening events; that she’s no longer working for Dr. Carlos; Lucha congratulates her on her improved self-esteem and all her accomplishments. She asks how is it working for Sor Milagros, a tough customer. Deya’s eyes brighten and she tells how the mean nun has changed as well, how it’s almost as if Sor Amparo spirit is now living in Sor Mili. Lucia brightens and says she’s going to start back to work tomorrow. A beautiful radiant smile from Aracely Arambula.
Back at the Rat Pack HQ, Lily plays with a map of the world, using the tequila caballitos glasses as markers on Sicily, Naples & Andorra. And some talk about the middle east. Radames has an investment in a boutique hotel that fortunately Deborah did NOT sell. They are all grinning with greed. Nuria goes down to cozy up and infiltrate with misinformation. She demurs for a moment and it looks as if she’s playing both sides, a dangerous game, but, (long pause) for now, she’s keeping El Diablo’s secret. “See, what’d’I tell you, it was Diablo who got burned up,” says the perpetually wrong Genaro. They let Nuria in on their new big plans, mucho dinero.
Down in the lobby, the Columbiano arrives at the hotel. He heads up to Rat Pack HQ and is observed by Rafa/El Diablo. “Aha” “Rafa” sneaks up behind to watch the guy enter. Lily greets him, “Now the party begins!” Our smartly-dressed “Rafa” in his distinguished lawyer suit, murmurs at the closed door. “Enjoy yourselves while you can, because you’re going to be weeping tears of blood!”
“Rafael” comes visiting to Deyanira’s house bearing flowers, gifts for the kids and a pizza delivery. Nobody seems to be remotely suspicious. He’s playing the role to a T. Deya’s a bit freaked out because of the resemblance to El Diablo. Lucia talks her down. “Rafa” does start pressing his suit.(and I don’t mean the one he’s wearing.) I think this will be the ultimate tip-off, because the real Rafa was never aggressive that way. They sit down to eat the pizza. Why he ordered anchovies if nobody likes them including himself makes for a nonsensical bit of dinner conversation. Just as Lucha playfully tries to feed him a slice into his open mouth, Dan arrives at the front door. All the resolve he mustered to get himself to that point dissolves as he witnesses this lively horseplay. Lucha confronts him: “Do you have something to say to me?” He turns away even more miserable than before. “Rafa” complains vociferously to Lucia about that imbecile of a Dan poking his nose into everything. Lucia puts an end to this line promptly by saying that she’s is in love with Dan, so there. (I can barely suppress my disappointment and disapproval, neither can “Rafael” who is starting to reveal his sneer—he’d better watch it.) Dinner is over, the kids are sent to bed, Deyanira makes herself scarce and ……
“Rafa” goes back to his lair, punches some furniture and swears vengeance on Daniel Ponce.
Evaristo teases Marisela about her doctor’s’ appointment, she shrugs and says it got interrupted by some problem of Adriana’s. “Adriana?, my Adriana?” “Who else?, she says resignedly. So, he’s outta there like a bullet. Just when she’s been told to remain calm. The good doc is sort of concealing the seriousness of this just to keep them chilled out, but in the corridor, he confides to Abel that it’s important to concentrate on positive thinking and remaining calm. Of course just at this moment Evaristo busts in like a bull in a china shop. Raucous antler bashing in the corridor ensues. Adriana overhears and orders Sor Mili to ask the gentleman in. Abel is none too happy. Adriana is all smiles for her baby daddy. I don’t know how she thinks she can juggle all this. It’s her idea of truthfulness. She’s either very naive or else a first class manipulator. Abel leaves in a huff.
Dan & Pab at the station house. Commiseration. They’ve both lost the woman they love to another man.
Radames back at his mansion tries to get Elena to act like a conjugal partner, but he’s either drunk, or there is residual brain damage from Deborah’s bonk on the cabeza. He’s rough & slurry. Elena hustles Nachito and herself out of the scene leaving Radames scratching his head in befuddlement.
Nuria back in “Rafa’’s bed reporting on the other camp, but she’s unable to get anything out of him.
Deyanira is at work reporting to Sor Mil, when Eugenio, Deya’s new suitor, the orderly (or whatever) from the lunchroom, has presented her with a beautiful red rose as a way of saying, “I’m crazy about you, call me Neno”. Deyanira tries to spell out an appropriately gentle rebuff when she spies Carlos coming down the hall. To heck with that; she presses the poor confused Neno into a serious liplock just in time for Carlos to catch a gander.
Police HQ is abuzz with news of the newly arrived Columbiano. Dan is having lunch with that sorry-a$$ of a psychiatrist. He smiles a little even. They get close & cuddly. He’s so confused, he doesn’t want to hurt anybody, so she leans in for a kiss, just as—dun-da-dun-dun—who should walk by but—well, you know. Lucia glares at the kissing couple.
ay Hombre, it always amazes me how you can condense a whole story into a rolling off-the-cuff commentary!
thanks for placing Daytona.
no satellite phones for these guys, did Leandro tell Ignacio he was going to kill his whole family, zzzt... cambio, and his daughter Amelia, (Connie from Reina) looks pretty tough.
hmm, violence, violence, or the threat of violence, how can Anas sleep at night, alone, in that giant bed, in a giant room, in a giant house, on yea, Renato is out in the hallway, and the dead guys are gone from the pool.
3 stooges is right, (of course they don't know Pablo Escobar like we do), Conrado is an interesting guy, I don't know if they mentioned this in the story but one of the character descriptions said he was a "Vietnam veteran where he lived the worst experiences of his life", which may explain a lot about him, but we have only seen his compassionate side so far where he has taken a totally lost Adán under is wing, in the only way he can, of course we wouldn't call this help, and Adán, "is that your car (with a million dollars worth of coke in it), the old cop Saul asks, then looking it over says, "bonito".
I didn't really get what started the war (was Leandro talking about what they did to his brother), and did Anas mention that Nat being dead will end it, BUT, it is only beginning.
Thanks so much, Hombre. Deb is right. You do those condensed recaps superbly!
Deb, as I understand it, the war between Quezada and Cardona began when Nicanor Quezada "took advantage of" Cardona's daughter. Nicanor was killed and beheaded by Nataniel Cardona in revenge for whatever he did to Nat's daughter. And Leandro Quezada took his revenge in the attack on the hacienda in the first episode. As yet we haven't seen Nat's children. They said he has two.
another wonderful recap lxv!
thank you so much.
so Lucha is found innocent, and what? Daniel throws out all his earlier convictions and goes with it, maybe watching the big stack of dvd's that Oleg/Raf left finally convinced him that she is just not a murderer, but the woman he loves.
and was Octavio bound and gagged in the back of the courtroom so he couldn't protest?
yes, Lucha's hair, amazing stuff.
a day drinking with the Rat pack, and Radamés is losing his taste for a quiet evening of wine and classical music.
when Daniel visited the happy family, standing in the doorway watching, I was reminded of Dickens "A Christmas Carol" looking into the future.
Hombre, thanks very much for the concise yet complete account of Tuesday's episode. That was really a pretty clever ploy on the part of Anas and Renato to cast blame for Nat's death on Leandro & Co. But did they just happen to have a spare helicopter sitting around? I would imagine that renting one would be potentially too dangerous, too easily tracked back to the renters.
Excellent recap Ixv.
It almost feels like a different telenovela now... I'm actually anxious to find out how El Diablo exacts his revenge now that he knows about El Colombiano.
Nuria now has good reason to betray Liliana & Co. They're not giving her a share of the new drug profits.
Lucía, innocent because of lack of proof/evidence. Well... unless they proved that she had nothing to do with the gun found in her hamper, the only thing she could be found innocent of is the escape. But we'll go along with it, keeping in mind that once it becomes known that Rafael is Olegario, we will be reminded that the smoking gun still exists.
I wonder if Olegario himself will discover the usb drive now that he's hanging out at Deya's place.
Anselmo's bf
Anselmo's bf "I wonder if Olegario himself will discover the usb drive now that he's hanging out at Deya's place." Oh yikes, things are starting to take an ominous turn now aren't they? Definitely nueva etapa.
deb loved your Christmas Carol comment. So poignant, but I still can't feel a thing for that skunk.
Yikes! That chainsaw scene was abit excessive
Somehow I missed the photo being taken ... That seems kind-of important to the plot ... How did the police get a photo of Adan and Conrado at the restaurant? (Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer that for me. I probably just missed it.)
Oh it's on the tip of my brain about that picture. I vaguely remember it being taken and thinking to myself that it was going to come back to haunt them. Can't remember how, just what I thought.
Sorry.
Could it have been one of those cameras merchants have to see who comes in and out in case there's a robbery? Were those all over the place in the 70's like they are now.
I'll put up a recap, probably fairly short, Thursday night. Wednesday is never good for me, as I have a class that night.
Thanks to YOU, for BOTH! For your cherished encouragement, and your recaps that take us all into what you see and understand. Your recaps are so complete, and they are also delightful and funny … and inspirational, I must add!
I will be watching tonight, and recap. No notes this time :D - maybe bits to remember order of things.
Much to reply to your wonderful recap - thank you so much! - and to everyone's comments on it, but I must hold that for later.
AnonGringa: "To me Nuria is so much prettier without so much makeup … " I agree! That makeup is so PERFECT for the part she is playing, too!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I have always loved the kind, supportive manners people here at Caray show to each other. I was very nervous to comment, but it was that kindness that encouraged me. I am very pleased you tell me I am sending that forward to you!
Aficionada
Thank you for ANOTHER stellar recap. We're so fortunate to have someone as skilled and generous
with their time as you are.
AnonGringa
Thanks Novelera and Hombre for the recaps!
Re: the photo
Some tourist was taking a photo while Adan and Conrado entered the restaurant and the two accidentally got into the photo. I also had a feeling it would come back to haunt them eventually.
Thanks LXV for your very thorough recap. I finally caught up today and i was excited when once again Vicky was the smartest person in the room. I hope she's smart enuf to be discreet about her perceptions. Looking forward to tomorrow's recap.
Spanish student
LXV: "Oh yikes, things are starting to take an ominous turn now aren't they? Definitely nueva etapa." Definitely!
(R.I.T. - Recapper in Training! LOL! This is from memory - and tiny notes that actually now seem to have been a wasteful distraction. This is probably even more mixed up and full of gaps than my last attempt, sorry! But I am finding the difficulties, and expect to get better! Thank you for your patience, and please, all, correct any errors, and fill any gaps!)
So, Dan and Marina his ex-shrink are at lunch, after kissing as Lucia and Oleg/Rafael enter for lunch too. "Rafa" glares at Daniel a bit - he is so obviously Oleg when he does that, Lucha is bound to realize in a flash if she catches that look. Dan and Lucha keep staring at each other, all forlorn looking. "Raf" is scowling.
Vicky, visiting Adriana, asks her which man she loves, Abel or Evaristo. "I love both," Adriana says, telling some of why. Abel best friend for so long, Rodriguez as her great lover. Vicky laughs, saying she understand, how she is in love and hate with Octavio. Vicky asks again about loving both, as Abel enters saying, "Yes, how?" can she love both.
At restaurant, Lucha and Dan still gazing wistfully, "Raf" acts concerned, knows she can not eat, so they leave.
Can't remember what said, but Marina is looking upset by Dan's obvious feelings for Lucha.
LOL, my notes say "Daniel after … shrink stops." I can not remember what that should mean. Maybe someone else knows? lol
Radames and Helena, Rad keeps holding his head, says it hurts badly.
Lucha shows up for work. Deyanira goes into Sor Milagros' office, Sor is a bit irritated by her interruption, but Deya rushes to the door, admitting Lucia to the office. A delighted Sor Milagros cries out, "¡Mi hija!" and gives Deya a very fond look.
Marina and Ivanna together, again suffering about their love lives. Ivanna asks what the problem is and Marina groans "Lucia."
Carlos and Daniel meet. Details anyone? Sorry!
Lucha hears Adriana is in the hospital, goes to see her, interrupts her and Abel talking about Evaristo.
Back to Marina and Ivanna. Ivanna - a loud talker, isn't she? - about shouts how Daniel is a fool, has a beautiful woman like Marina wanting him, and is stuck on Lucha.
Aficionada
Lucia is very happy to be at work. Says (to Deya???? can't remember, oy!) how she is looking forward to the future now, being with the kids, and all, when she is called to an emergency. As she heads off to that, Daniel grabs her into a room, pulls her in, kisses her - their love music starts to play - but Lucha pushes him away. He protests that he wants to apologize for misjudging her, he was wrong.
Meanwhile, Oleg/Raf has come to Sor Milagros' office, with Deya. Sor is shocked to see him, "You aren't … aren't you … ?" Dead Oleg, she means. "Raf" quickly tells her he is the twin.
Back at Lucha and Daniel, she is crying, almost shouting the destruction Daniel has caused in her life, including it all almost killing her father.
Ivanna advises Marina on men, says it is war, tells her to be more like her, confident and seductive, aggressive.
"Raf" is trying to give Sor Milagros an obviously large donation for the hospital. She is hesitant, asks why he would, he says it is because his evil brother killed Sor Amparo. She hesitates more, he takes the check back, changes the amount, I presume, and she looks a bit dizzy at the amount. "This will cover hospital expenses for a whole year!" she exclaims. She looks like she might cry.
Carlos and Dan talking again, Dan says he thinks he is done with Lucha.
Deya and Lucha talking, Deya says to Lucha that her love for Dan is not gone.
Liliana mob together, Lily on the phone. Radames freaks out about her using his office phone for drug business. Irritated, she tells him no one is listening to his phone.
"Raf" at hospital is getting more pushy with Lucha, and she is clearly suspicious of that, but also obviously beholden to him.
Deya talks with Sor Milagros about how she can help Lucha. I missed/forget her advice, but it sends Deya to talk with Carlos. He starts in about him and Deya, presuming she is there about them. She stops him, "This is not about US, it is about our friends." He is confused, and she says they only have two friends in common, Lucia and Daniel.
Lucha has brought "Rafael" to visit with her father and Fernanda, the kids are happy to see him, all together happy, "Raf" kind and friendly. He Is a talker, that one! I keep waiting for him to blow it, he is so full of himself! But he keeps his wits, until …
Vicky and Chelo come in, all happy to see Lucha, and everyone together. They are happy to meet the man who has helped Lucia. "Raf" acts all nice and pleased to meet them, turns to Vicky and says, "You are even more beautiful than before," with just a bit too … suggestive? lecherous? a tone. Vicky does an instant frowning double-take and flashes back to meeting Oleg, and his telling her how beautiful she is, in that same lech tone, and she KNOWS, but hesitates to believe it! So she backs down, and hurries off to her room.

Marina and Ivanna show up at Dan's office, Pablo there too. The women kiss the men, Dan backing away from Marina's kiss. Both men clearly very uncomfortable. Dan's phone rings. They let us see through the office window that it is Marisela (lxv: "her 'girl' name") calling from the outer office to ask "You want an excuse to escape?" "Yes." She and Rodriguez rush in taking Dan and Pablo out on a supposed police action. They are all in a group, walking through the parking garage, when Dan gets another call.
It is Carlos: " … Urgent! Meet me at [his office?] …"
Meanwhile, Vicky is upstairs at Duran place with Chelo, asks her "Is there ANY doubt it was the brother [Olegario] who died?"
Happy family still downstairs, Roxy and Memin are so happy, but Lucha is daydreaming of Daniel. Her phone rings, it is Deyanira, who cries "Help me! … " Lucha takes off.
She gets to Deya, who says Carlos is in trouble, "Just come with me!" Lucha goes into the room Deya opens to her, and Deya backs away and locks the door! Lucha is yelling to let her out, "I don't like this!"
Dan arrives, Carlos lets him into another room, Carlos and Deya go out, and Carlos locks that door.
Deya and Carlos have contrived to get Dan and Lucha alone and locked in together!
"Raf" still with Ignacio and all, the phone rings, Deya asking Fernanda to take care of the kinds, there is an emergency. Fernanda repeats it, Oleg/Raf runs out - to the rescue of Lucha, of course.
Radames approaches Helena again, she asks why, he says he is in love with her and wants her.
After Carlos locks the door behind Daniel, he and Deya move in closer and then they finally kiss, passionately.
Dan opens Lucha's door. Lucha is kind of glaring.
whew, ah? ¡Mucho Pasa! SO MUCH HAPPENING!!!
Has anyone heard anything about the timing of this tn? Doesn't it seem to be reaching culminante?
Aficionada
(LXV, I will be where I can watch with a pause and rewind ability tomorrow night, so I will do a recap if you would like - and it would have to be much better than I have done from memory!)
She is AGAIN! and I, too, "hope she's smart enuf to be discreet about her perceptions."
What a great character she is!
Aficionada
" … someone give that man [Daniel] a bite guard or he’ll have no molars left"! PERFECT!
I agree with you, and others, that there seems no explanation for the re/trial finding her innocent of Cesar's murder, or even why the case was re-opened, or continued, or whichever. But, as you say, " … let’s just leave that for now. It’s a telenovela." LOL notorious tn legal matters!
I have not seen every episode. Has Lucha ever told about the actual murder of Cesar she witnessed, to the police, I mean? About it being a cop who she saw finish him off?
i LOVED this: "Fernanda welcomes her [Lucia] with genuine warmth and expresses affection for the kids 'What’s not to love, after all, they’re children.' Lucia says accusingly, 'I was a child once and you didn’t love me.' Fernanda is abashed … " I love that Lucia said that to her! And I was pleasantly surprised that Fernanda seemed rightfully abashed.
I think Rad IS "sampling the wares," because of his sniffling. Maybe that is connected to his suddenly hanging on to his head all the time now, too. In fact, Genaro seemed to be doing the same with his head at one point too. hmmmm ….
I can not follow the Columbiano story line - it is one too many lines for me! But I am wondering if it might be part of how the story can possibly be extended beyond the seemingly culminating other story lines. I guess it wouldn't be happening if it wasn't going to be more important to the whole than it seems to me.
"Meanwhile, Marisela is in the doctor’s office to get her prescription for birth control pills and a checkup and bloodwork. She’s doing this on her own, as an independent woman (Is this legal in Mexico does anyone know?)." I know birth control, the pill, is legal in Mexico, for married and for not married women.
"Raucous antler bashing in the corridor ensues." Between Abel and Evaristo. I can not believe that Abel is being like that! I thought he was coming along so well! He has stayed friends with Adriana knowing she is in love with "the policeman" and having their baby, so why would he do this violently possessive turn again?!
Why? You say it all, LXV: "Antler bashing" biochemistry!!
Thank you, again, for your fantastic recaps, LXV!!!
Aficionada
Me too! I tell you, I watched those kids the whole time, holding my breath fearing one of them would mention it in front of Olegario!
Also, thank you for this added info: "Nuria now has good reason to betray Liliana & Co. They're not giving her a share of the new drug profits." I missed that, and it makes it more clear why she would be loyal to Oleg at all.

If you don't get a chance to reply to this, I will go ahead and do that, anyway.
Aficionada
Dearest Aficionada, I would be delighted if you recapped tonight (Thursday, Jan 22) if you are up to it. Then I can certainly do Friday night and perhaps Monday as well (I'll confirm that later). Thanks for checking in; it's no small committment, as you know and would be a shame if we ended up both making the effort on the same night. That said, muchas gracias for last night's! From memory? I think you nailed every scene, in sequence, no less.
As you noted, "Rafa"'s scowl & sneer will be his downfall. He's starting to have trouble concealing it. And of course, the intuition of Vicky, who flashed back to hearing the same literal phrase in her earlier meeting with Olegario. And, his increasing demands for Lucha's affection. This is NOT the shy & gentle "Rafael" she knew from the months of sequestration. Already, we see expressions of doubt cross her face.
Boy, that scene with those tricked out harpies, conniving about how to snare the men they want. I almost had to go take a shower. Ivanna trying to get the slightly less aggressive Marina to employ her professional psychoanalytic skills in the service of the manhunt. EEEWWW. And then they have the nerve to march into these guys' place of work!!! Does this happen in the real world? Quick thinking from Marisela, the perpetual gal Friday. I sure hope she gets her just reward at the end of this thankless role. Question is, which of these spineless idiots is good enough for her?
And what's with Radames' brain fog & headaches? He's another one on the verge of losing control of his masquerade. Has he developed a coke habit? or it there some organic brain dysfunction that's going to end him up in the hospital with that sap of an Elena crooning her sad misfortune at his bedside. I don't mean to diss Elena, I like her, but she's been so brutalized, she loses all her strength. She's best when surrounded by her strong sisters.
I have really enjoyed the plot of this novela thusfar (what I've seen of it) but that Keystone Cops routine with Carlos & Deyanira conspiring to lock up the star-crossed Lucha & Dan was so over the top, I can't imagine what the writers were thinking. You did heroic service Aficionada by describing it accurately, but it's all so ludicrous, I started to lose faith. This better not continue. I guess I'm resigned to the main protagonists getting back together in the end, but plot devices like this don't endear me to the idea. If these writers are smart, they'll break with tradition and show an independent Lucha triumphing in the end and Dan condemned to misery for his unforgiveable acts (and his selfish, sick mind). OK rant over, I realize I'm on a soapbox here, but I just can't warm up to the guy.
I'm loving all the commenters; keep it coming!
As an aside, I recently went to the doctor (who happens to be gay) for my annual checkup. He asked me what I did for exercise and I told him an hour on the bike every night while I watched a telenovela. He laughed and asked if there was a gay "coming-out" subtext. I was astonished that he would know such a thing, but he said it's become the new big thing in Mexico. Whereas a few years ago, gay people were really discriminated against and suffered terribly, suddenly it's all the rage to come out. LOL!
Aficionada and LXV, thanks again for your recaps and comments!
LXV, I agree with your comment regarding Dan's "selfish and sick mind". That's exactly how I feel about him and the psych visits haven't made it easier to empathize with him.
Ivanna was the worst last night. I suspect we're going to see more of how far she's willing to go to nab a man. Shame on the psychiatrist for going along with her.
I understand Adriana's love of the two men (albeit a different kind of love) but it seems that what realy happened is that Evaristo had moved on when she was ready to commit. Thus she retreated back to Abel out of comfort. Abel, however, is the one who really wants to continue with the sham. I find it hard to empathize with him. As LXV stated, these days he's free to be true to himself. But he seems almost childlike and undeserving of the good doctor.
I'm also guessing that Evaristo's love for Marisela/Leon is more platonic (except for the sex) than romantic. After last night's episode I think she has officially ended it. Perhaps the detective overseeing Lucha's case will become her beau.
This entire fiasco would end if Abel came out...then all the other relationships will fall into place, and perhaps Adriana, who needs to remain stress-free, won't have to carry the burden of shame/guilt when the marriage ends.
I also think Oleg's time is up which means a higher level of drama is pending. Vicky's intuition along with the way he stormed out of the Duran home said a lot about his true character. And if Lucha and Dan make up, he'll certainly try to kill him.

While we await Novelera's recap tonight, here are some things that caught my eye.
We finally saw the Mala Suerte guy from the Allstate commercials, who is Alberto Mateo. His character in our show is Sergio di Franco, a Miami movie "producer", who seems to talk with a Spanish (from Spain) accent. Now that Conrado and Erica have totally thrown their moral compasses out the window, will Erica do the same?
The actress who plays Kimberley/Daisy Muñoz, the neighbor/hooker was in Muñecas de la Mafia, where she played a good girl who eventually went way, way down the wrong path, husbands kept getting killed, the "nice one" talked her into posing nude for a painting, which he then mounted over the family fireplace, to her great embarrassment (it was blurred out on TV). She's from Colombia, and probably is using her native accent.
Where do they get those outfits for Verónica! The latest one, a terrycloth baggy dress below the knees, is so dowdy it's laughable! Especially since the actress has worn very sexy clothes in past novelas. Vero isn't happy when she hears what Adán's business "really" is.
Iggy did a LOT of pushups at the start of his scene. That actor is certainly in good shape.
The lack of cellphones and internet sure makes things different, for both the cops and the druglords.
Thank you for last night's recap. I thought the locking of
Daniel and Lucha was kind of cute, BUT aren't most
doors capable of being opened from the inside? I know
all of mine are. AnonGringa
Ixv, I have been visiting Mexico City for a month every year for the past 3 years to practice my spanish, and let me tell you, it is very open.
Has anyone else noticed that of all the nurses in the hospital, Lucía is the only one who has a fitted uniform? The others look like they are wearing potato sacks. Just an observation.
How is it that people can be swayed by mujersuelas like Lilliana and Ivana. Really. I would keep my distance from the first time I met them. So Marina is going to abandon all her professional ethics (well, what's left of it), and follow Ivana's advice?
Olegario is acting more and more like himself, and is Lucía going to allow herself to be forced into a relationship with him just because there needs to be a man in the house? But it seems we're in for another round of love, accusations and hate between Daniel and Lucia. They are locked in a room so they can make up and make love, just so Daniel could hate her more when he finds out that Rafael is Olegario. She is so going back to la cárcel.
If Olegario finds the the USB drive before he is found out, he could turn it over to the police to take down Lilliana, Radamés and Genaro. After all, he's not El Diablo and he loves to talk about bad person his brother was. It is almost like he is praising himself for being so bad.
Now what will Vicky do with this knowledge of Rafael's true identity? In this telenovela, people have a way of not saying what they really want to say.
I have something really important to tell you, but I'm afraid you won't like it, and you're going to hate me for it. [suena el celular] Oh no, please don't answer it, I really have to tell you this.
Hello? Ok, I'm coming right now. Sorry, I have to go. Emergency at work. We'll talk later.
Just say what you have to say and get it over with! But then the telenovela would be finished in just 5 episodes.

Thanks so much Aficionada and lxv for the sharp, sassy recaps! Excellent coverage!
Some funny scenes last epi, Sor Milagros and Deyanira, "Codigo 72" to get the boys away from the pushy ladies, and the over-the-top lock 'em up plot.
Agree lxv, Dan is miserably lame. Quit watching for a while because of him.
Agree spanish student, Oleg's time as Rafa must be running out. Go Vicky, and shouldn't the police be more skeptical of him? Isn't it common practice for druglords to have "doubles?" At least, that's what happened in Santa Diablo with the Cristian de la Campo character.
Clara
That was a spectacular way to point the finger at Quezada in Nataniel's death. I'm impressed.
Wondering what Luciana was doing after the mean girls' assault. Crying in the park for hours till Chad found her? How different things were before cellphones. But of course the mean girls would've stolen it if she'd had one.
I'm amazed at the apparatus Iggy used to call overseas to Colombia. I lived through the 70s, but I have no idea what that walkie-talkie thing was.
"That was a spectacular way to point the finger at Quezada in Nataniel's death. I'm impressed."
It certainly was and I'm impressed too!
Many thanks to novelera and hombre for their work!
I love Mala Suerte. I loved seeing him again. He also spoke with a Spanish accent on Reina.
I don't know but if I were an aspiring actress and was asked if I'd do nude and erotic scenes and then asked to take off my clothes I'd be a little leery about the "producer" and about the kind of movies he makes. Oh Erica. Conrado won't like this.
I don't get why Chad is with that bleach blonde Daytona. I liked how Lu told Chad to lock her up. If Adan ever becomes a murderer I hope it's because he has Dayton and her possee rubbed out.
That was some nice quick thinking on Conrado's part. But what was up with him telling Vero the perfumes weren't original?
Romy - Yes. Irene said the name "Modesta". She was shot in the face but I guess she recovered and is back. I can't wait to see her.
thanks Aficionada for the wonderful recap,
and for everyone's comments.
AnonGringa- there is a dead bolt that needs a key from either side which I think is what Carlos has in his apartment.
hmm, so if Leon falls for Abel would it be a triangle of love triangles, what?,
but heaven forbid if the doctor turns over a new leaf and runs off with her.
(I'm almost ready to write one of these things)
hmm, I thought noverlera said Wednesdays were bad for her, let's see what else happened.
Veronica gets a call from the hotel to verify info that Adan told them, that tips her to their office, knockoff perfumes? how could you do this, and later at home when his briefcase falls open, and what's all this money,
oh it's just capital for the business,
shouldn't you put that in the bank?
well then there would be taxes,
what?
ooo, so Iggy told Leandro that HE killed Nat, hmm, but Leandro still is not happy, he wants the whole family massacred at the funeral, has his #1 guy set it up.
I don't think Anas' mom is buying the ruse, here you were fighting and now he is dead, Anas lets Renato know they need to be careful of her, he agrees and adds, no one must know we killed him, there will be people who want revenge.
and what about Gina, well they brought her home with them, but she is being awful quiet.
and what about Erika, she takes the casting call with encouragement from Daisy (who must know the score), and when asked if she could do nude scenes, well... yes, and everyone on the set gets to watch, and afterwards as she makes a nervous retreat, mala suerte offers her a ride home. no thank you, I'd rather step in front of this moto, but now with a bloody knee she accepts, and arriving home in his shiny blue corvette, Conrado watches with narrowed eyes.
but earlier as our businessmen arrived home, the local detectives in the Hawaiian hot rod cop car, are there for a chat, they are interested in Daisy who they tracked down as Iggy's hooker,
Daisy?
so what's in the brief cases?
gulp,
oh! there is Daisy now, and the coppers run to scoop her up.
and it's finally home safe for Adan and Conrado, now for a cold beer and a fight with the wife.
and Iggy is also at home nursing a warm bottle of liquor and watching the tv, his wife is loving the new perfume he brought her, wants to thank him, but gets thrown off the bed, I need to hear this, as he sees the report of Nat's death, also being watched by Conrado and Adan, they call from a pay phone, we have to talk, yes, but not over the phone.
gah... not Iggy at home but Mario Alejandro Esparza and his wife Analía Menchaca de Esparza, and who were those kids earlier?
Thank you so, lxv! And for your great, great comments!
I will happily recap tonight, comment to your recap tomorrow night, and see what you think about monday when you know.
"in sequence" - :D those tiny notes I mentioned taking were to keep the sequence, and remember to include as many scenes as possible. Got to figure out how to do that AND get some of the great dialogue, though.
Much to say on many things here! Thanks, all, for great recaps and comments!!

Deb, since Hombre posted about awaiting my recap tonight, I'm sure he meant the recap of Thursday's show, tonight. I always do the recaps the same night the show airs because of the East Coast. If I put them up at 9:00 or 10:00 am the following day, it's kind of late for folks in the East to see it and comment.
Well, we got to see Conrado's jealous, almost on the edge of violent side. Someone posted here that they remembered Erica mentioning that to Vero. But I think he is also right in that Erica does have a problem with flirting.
Yes, the comments about nude scenes and erotic scenes probably should send up a red flag for Erica, but the poor girl is SO desperate to break into acting that she has no boundaries.
Yep, Anastasia is right to be wary of Irene. I think Irene is perfectly capable of blackmailing her daughter if she discovers what happened.
I kind of liked Conrado finally losing his patience with Adán. I'm getting tired of his constant back and forth.
Muchas gracias, Hombre, for your mini recap. I too enjoyed seeing the Mala Suerte guy. Too bad Erica hasn't seen the Allstate ads on TV. Then she'd know for sure to stay away from him. :-)
And I too was impresed by all Iggy's push-ups. I could never manage even one. Sigh :-(
Mauricio, I think the reason that Adan tells his wife that the perfumes were an imitation is so she'd understand why he was reluctant to tell her and is so nervous about his "work."
Deb, I think Mario Alejandro and Analia have two children. They were shown once before, I think.
Analia is interesting. She seems to know what her husband is up to, and she sewed him up cool as a cucumber when he was shot in the restaurant scene. I think she likes the luxuries his drug dealing provides. But she rightfully worries about his putting the product up his nose. They did a funny paranoia thing last night where he looked at the bottom of his phone for a bug when speaking to Conrado.
Novelera, I actually did misunderstand what you said, and thought you were going to do a recap of last night's show later today. But now I understand that Wednesday's are not easy for you, so maybe next Thursday I'll do a short recap. I just can't really commit to doing them much, because my time is very limited. But I'll still comment, and try to do mini recaps once or twice a week.
Erica told Sergio something like "Oh, a nude scene. Well, as long as it's faithful to the script. Like in Last Tango in Paris." Of course, Ximena Duque may never have even heard of that film, but I remember it, with Marlon Brando. I think it was originally rated X, but not the porn X, there were a few films in the 70's (Midnight Cowboy is another), that showed full nudity, but not explicit sex, and still got an X. Nowadays they'd be rated R, or maybe NC-17. Of course, we're led to believe that Sergio is more likely going for XXX.
BTW, thanks, Deb, I love your recap style! It was lucky Mario had bought all that perfume for Analia, and Conrado came up with the idea that's what they were importing. An earlier commenter asked why did they have to say the perfume was imitation, the answer is because Vero said why did you hide it from me? Answer, it's not totally legal.
The Three Stooges are really p***ing in their pants now, with Nat dead. But they seem to have a very lucky knack of escaping from the Keystone Cops!
I loved Conrado and Ale, macho drug dealers, booking it when Vero starting questioning Adan. Cowards. But I really liked Renato as he watched Ana's (Stacy's?) performance over her dead husband. Was he impressed or terrified? Both?
I can take a less than top-notch production when you have actors like this. They may be drug dealers and jerks, but darned if they aren't likable jerks.
Kelly
Thanks for the recap, Deb.
I really like Conrado's character in this episode ... Quick thinker.
I also can't figure out why Ana still has her mother in the picture ... She hasn't been around her whole life and Ana certainly doesn't need her now with all the stress that she's been dealing with over the past few weeks.
Awewell ... Can't wait for the next episode.
This was fabulous Deb. Thanks sooo much! I'm liking this novela more and more. I never thought I'd ever like a narconovela.
Yes. Alejo and Analia have two sons. We first saw them when The Three Stooges stopped by Alejo's pace after the cocaine pickup. Alejo suggested they get the cocaine ready to be sold at his place but Adan seeing the kids suggested them doing that someplace else. It was there where they decided to work from a hotel.
So Connie from Reina is part of her dad's drug business. I'm loving her Colombian accent.
Novelera - Good point about Erica. I wonder where they are going with this storyline.
I think Gina will be history once the baby is born, she is a witness.
I just knew La mala suerte had to be a bad guy, he got typecast by an Allstate commercial.
Anastasia isn’t dealing well with her guilt. She has a nightmare in which she’s wearing a blood-soaked nightie while we hear Nataniel saying his wedding vows in her mind. Then we see her at the altar, but Nat’s face is covered with blood. She starts awake, and annoying Irene comes in with the ritual cup of tea.
The Miami Medical Examiner tells Saúl and Mauricio, our Miami Non-Vice, about how Nat died. The M.E. says he got a point-blank shot to the head and died immediately. The guy says that more than one person killed him. Says there were various wounds, blows, a fractured nose, and some scratches. The assailants were at least one man and one woman, but he could only get partial fingerprints. He also says there were lacerations that occurred both before and after rigor mortis set in, and the body was definitely moved after death. [I guess Renato tried to make it look like Nat was tortured by someone.]
Irene wakes Anas up for the funeral and keeps trying to get her to open up about what happened. She hints that sometimes a person has to do what’s necessary, but Anas doesn’t bite.
At the church before the funeral Anas asks the priest to take confession. She confesses various minor sins and then comes out with the big one: that she killed her husband and, furthermore, she doesn’t regret it. [I half expected Irene to be eavesdropping beside the confession booth!]
Conrado tries to make nice with Erica about his getting drunk and being jealous. Adán comes to say, with resolve, that he’s decided and he’s in.
Mario Alejandro tells Adán and Conrado that it was probably Leandro Quezada who killed Nat. But they have to go to the funeral to show respect to Anastasia. When MJ leaves the room, Analia tells Adán he doesn’t seem like the rest of the guys in the “business”. She tells him he should get out because it’s very dangerous.
Anas greets the attendees at the funeral. She tells the 3 amigos (or are they stooges still?) that the business will continue and they should trust her.
Anas sees Ignacio Elizondo lurking around outside the church and tells Renato. Renato starts to draw an ankle pistol but sees the two cops arriving. He chases Iggy in his car, but can’t keep up due to some vehicles being in the way.
Iggy tells some of his thugs that they’ll be at the cemetery in an hour, when the mourners will presumably arrive.
The priest gives Anas communion, which kind of surprised me.
NOW WE HAVE A BIG CHANGE OF SCENE
We’re in New York City. This scene is a bit confusing. If anyone understood it better than I did, please chime in. At last we see Alberto Jiménez, our beloved Oleg Yasikov from La Reina del Sur. In this TN, he’s a NYC policeman. In the scene some guys are unloading bales of what are probably drugs. Somebody gets shot, and our cop, who is called Salvador Ferrara, helps him away from the drug bust. I didn’t know if Ferrara was undercover at the scene or came upon the miscreants due to a tip.
A colleague tells Ferrara that his wife is in the hospital. We see her giving birth. One of the guys who works for Ferrara tells him that a body was thrown from a helicopter in Miami and guess who it was? He says it was Elias Cabrera Mateluna. This seems odd. Ferrara seems like he may have been after Nat, but why does he know him as Cabrera-Mateluna? Anyway, we get another in the long, long line of obsessive cops. Ferrara leaves his wife and new baby and gets on the phone to book an immediate flight to Miami.
The smarmy producer, Sergio de Franco, shows up at the apartment with flowers for Erica. Erica has just told Vero about the possible nude scenes, and Vero looks on disapprovingly at the big “producer”, who doesn’t seem to want to tell Erica the name of the movie she’ll be in.
Luciana is in class, and the teacher is passing out tests. When Luciana gets hers, there’s a note on the top “You’re dead!” Daytona says something nasty to her and Luciana has had it. She goes right after Daytona, knocks her over the teacher’s desk and scratches her up. All the students applaud, but I’m not sure if they’re liking what Luci did or just the break from class.
At the cemetery the suspense builds while Iggy and his guys get set up, kill the hearse driver, steal the hearse, and then attack the mourners. Iggy grabs Anas and tries to take her along, ripping her clothes. He shouts out that this is in the name of Leandro Quezada. Iggy asks Anas if she knew that Nat peed on the coffin of Nicanor Quezada. She tells him she did know. Conrado bravely knocks the gun from Iggy’s hand, and Anas gets free. As usual, dozens of rounds are fired and only innocents die: a woman and the priest. Iggy and his guys get away with Nat's body.
The school principal appears to put all the blame on Luciana, who says she’d do it again, but really doesn’t show her facial bruise or explain.
Iggy calls Quezada about having the body. Then he tells one of the guys who helped him that the boss said he’d take care of the woman and that his job was the body. We see Quezada tell his daughter that they’re getting false passports and going to Miami for face-to-face revenge.
Saúl comes to Renato’s hospital room to rattle his cage. He finds Renato’s gun and asks him if he has a permit. He calls him Manrique and says that he doesn’t like guard dogs who won’t say a word.
Meanwhile Mauricio is asking questions of Anas, calling her Muriel. He asks her why her husband had some many violent enemies but no one knows a thing about it.
Left off last night with Lucia and Daniel locked into Carlos’ apartment by Carlos and Deyanira.
Lucia is looking all over the room, “There’s got to be a key somewhere here,” and yells out to Deya, “Traitor!” She then turns to Daniel, “Open the door, I want to leave!”
Looking surprised, he says, “Me too! You think I locked us in here, that I am so childish?” He yells through the door, “Carlos, open the door!”
Carlos: “This is your chance to talk. You have three hours to talk respectfully with each other.”
Lucha: “Open the door, I need to get to my father and he has the kids!” Deyanira kind of shrinks at that, says she needs to get away. Carlos agrees, they leave.
Dan tells Lucha not to bother yelling anymore, “They’re gone.”
Might as well try talking. Daniel apologizes over and over, Lucha angrily replying, “I can’t believe you. You know why? Because you wouldn’t believe me, in my innocence, and that you were wrong!”
Radames is again trying to convince Helena to “act like a conjugal partner,” as lxv so delicately put it – thank goodness, because some ugly words come to mind for what Radames is doing. “Why ‘no’? I want you, the most beautiful woman …“ He takes hold of her, she pulls away, “no." “Why ‘no’?” “Because I am confused, because I’m not ready, because I don’t want to.” “But you said maybe by now …“ Helena is pretty calm for the position she is in, “Leave. I do not want this pressure.” Radames surprised me, saying “Okay, okay, I won’t press you, don’t worry, but this is not making a marriage, much less treating me like a man you love.”
“Ya ya. Leave my room.” He does, which surprises me, and ALMOST causes me to wonder if maybe he has changed some – always scary, though, always.
Marisela, Pablo and Evaristo are in a bar. Evaristo excuses himself, says he needs to sleep. “In whose bed?” Marisela snidely asks. “In my bed,” he groans back at her. Leaves. She looks so sad! Tells Pablo she doesn’t want any more lies, he asks her to say more. I didn’t note it, and can’t remember, but I know he said she looked ready to cry, and she didn’t want to … anyone know more of that scene?
Lxv, just this - well, yesterday - afternoon you wrote: “Quick thinking from Marisela, the perpetual gal Friday. I sure hope she gets her just reward at the end of this thankless role. Question is, which of these spineless idiots is good enough for her?” I tell you, that came right to mind as I looked at her sitting there with Pablo! If he could save himself from further decline, escaping those two women now bringing him down … well, he could return to being someone good enough, yes?
I am going to post this much, now, then continue. The other two times, I waited till I had it all, and it was so late by then. This will take long, so it would be even later!
Enjoy! More soon-ish!

Olegario is in his hotel room, talking, no, ranting to himself, when Nuria walks in, teases him about it. He snaps – something, how she is a traitor … She says he knew that. They end up in bed. I like Nuria’s act, and sometimes she actually seems more mature than everyone else in the mobs, but seeing her with Oleg just brings me back to disliking her like early in this tn.
Liliana and Genaro at a warehouse. “What is this place,” Lily asks. “For secure contact,” Genaro says. Lily seems to like it, “good for our import business.”
Did Genaro say he put the property in Nuria’s name?
Back to Dan and Lucha locked together. Lucha says, “keep your distance, don’t touch me.” She calls Deya’s phone, leaves message, “I am angry … get here immediately, I want out of here.” ( my note says “crying, ” but I don’t remember her crying on the phone. ?
BUT Carlos and Deya are otherwise preoccupied, in bed.
The Doctor – I am sorry, I have not learned his name! Will someone tell me? The Gay Doctor – is finishing up examining Adriana, says, “It’s a good sign,” I think I missed he had just checked blood pressure or heart rate. She says something – my bad notes here, again, sorry! – about not wanting any more lies in her life (echoing Merisela). Doctor asks why they are carrying on the lies, she says, “To protect Ignacio,” him being in danger from his heart troubles, and – another echo, ah – his blood pressure. Evaristo enters the room, Adriana smiles a very nice, becoming smile. I was pleased how much better she looked with that smile – she had always been so sad and pinched. She is very happy to see Evaristo.
Dan and Lucha, still locked … Dan dials his phone. Their song starts to play. “Remember this?” he asks Lucia, and they flash back on their dancing together to that music – which is the theme song of the show, of course. My note says: crying. [missed what Dan said, important]
alas.
Evaristo tells Adriana she is the most important part of his life. “Look, feel my heart,” putting her hand on his heart. She smiles obviously feeling his heart racing. “It is like that all day every day. What do you call that?”
Liliana is laying out things for her new gangsters. Better work, better pay, better everything than they got working for Olegario, AS LONG AS they work well and loyally ….
Dan and Lucha: Dan goes to the refrigerator, says he is hungry. “Strawberries! Have one, you love strawberries, your favorite,” dips one in whipped cream, goes as if to feed it to her, she doesn’t open her mouth for it, so he gets the cream on her lip. All cutsie now, he does the “let me get that off of you” trick …. She is visibly irritated, but when he then kisses her, she kisses back.
Lily with her gang again – can someone fill this in, please? Thank you!
Dan : “Te amo.” How Lucha is the love of his life, as he reaches behind her and demonstrates – cameras very close up – how to undo a bra with one hand. (Remember how that was always touted as the “experienced” boys’ secret skill … in high school, which this story line is all to reminiscent of)

My watching last night on cable, with pause and rewind, did not end up helping as much as I had hoped. I found out it only worked for half of the show, but by using that capacity, I had made it impossible to watch the second half in anything but real time. I keep learning new parts of this recap process, but I am very slow at doing it.
I am going to put the rest in nearly bullet point form, because my notes are spare. In fact, I can barely follow them! Eek!
Deya and Carlos talking, Deya gets angry, feeling shame again.
Lucha, after their sex, gets angry again.
LXV, Lucha tells Daniel it is not love he feels, that it is sickness in him, just as you had noted yesterday afternoon. She says it will only destroy her. That he can not believe in her. That it is all torment, and he even has other women. He calls that jealousy, not getting it, at all. Mentions Rafael. “That was innocent,” Lucha says.
Meanwhile, Deyanira is telling Carlos that he ends up making her feel shame because he has to distance himself, because he can not love with his soul, can not let himself really feel love. He looks as if he might give that some thought.
Then, Lucha calls Deya, gets through, “Get me out of here.” When Deya opens door, “Traitor! Let’s go!”
Back at Deya’s, Lucha angry, packing. Deyanira: “I did it for you.” Lucha: “I will never forgive you.”
Meanwhile at Duran home, Roxana telling Memin about what really happened with Liliana; that she can not tell anyone because Lily said “if I talk, she will kill my mother.” She is saying more I did not catch, and Chelo overhears it! Finally they will know!! Just another piece of it, but enough to break open about Liliana!!
Pablo with Helena: “Is this really what you want for your life?” Reaches for her, but Ivanna pops up, and fury flashes across her face. For some reason, Pablo then leaves.
CHELO TELLS LUCIA what she learned about “LILIANA BRUJA” and Roxanita!!!! YES!!!
Ivanna, raging about Pablo and Helena, tells Radames – just came into scene - something about Helena and Pablo, and Rad FREAKS OUT!! He is at her throat in a mad flash! IVANNA JUST STANDS THERE – looking a bit shocked, but not helping AT ALL!! More raging, Rad SLUGS HER!!!! Will someone please add the name of the woman who works in the Eschaveria home? She runs in to try to stop things, and when Rad slams Helena, she runs out the door and calls Pablo back, crying out what is happening. He rushes in – huh, funny Ivanna THEN decides to help stop Rad – Pablo stops Rad … I draw a blank on this too, sorry … how, what, what next … but I know he walks away with Helena. Ivanna? I don’t know. I might just have blocked her out.
Aficionada
Lucia is with Memin, sitting outside. “Tell me about bruja mala” Liliana.
“It’s not fair!” Memin almost cries. He has to protect Roxy, and Lucia, but to do that, now he has to tell what he knows.
“Nothing will happen,” Lucia tells him.
(This is the point where the Radames’ attack on Helena continued, and Pablo stopped it. Got order wrong.) Helena stopped Pablo from fighting Radames. Ivanna seething. Very ugly snarling face.
Helena says something to Pablo about him being with the “other woman.” What?! Enough, Helena!
Deya and Eugenio run into each other in cafeteria, again. As usual, whatever she does to him, or tells him about herself, he is smitten. That is new to her – like getting the rose from him was – so she visibly decides not to resist it. Carlos watching, seems to see the change in her, too.
Lucia encounters Oleg in the hotel lobby, just keeps walking, is on her way to a showdown with Lily. Oleg turns his face aside and his FURY is all over it. Flaring nostrils kind!
Meanwhile, Dan shows up at Marina’s office door.
Lucha has Lily by the throat again.
Deya and Eugenio, something about a fresh start?? “He’s so sweet”?
Lucha and Liliana: Nuria is eavesdropping. I missed most of this to a phone call, argh!! Will someone please add what Lucha says to Lily in this rage at her? I heard a bit of her warning Lily that if she – what, ever went near? touches? scares? threatens? Roxana and Memin again, she will kill her … as Nuria listens in.
I love Nuria’s facial expressions as she reacts to Lucha’s fury! I often love Nuria’s expressions!
Helena moves back into Duran Home. Ignacio tells her it is her home, too. She says, "Radames didn’t change.”
Dan to Marina, no he doesn’t want a drink, he is looking for “a woman who can help me with my miseries. A woman who understands. A Smart woman.” Grabs her and kisses her.
Lucia back in hotel lobby, stomps past Oleg, saying “Take me to the hospital.”
Genaro watching. Liliana comes up to him, brushes off whatever he said to her about Oleg, and says “Lucha is at the point of discovering about my killing Roque. If she does, all will be lost. I want her dead.”
Closes.
Please, all, corrections and gap-filling, please! Thank you!

Duenos: I thought I was hearing things. How can Modesta live? Oy, and be well enough to make te? Renato was looking at Anas like " Que de hell?" This lady is bat shit cray cray, lol. Anas went overboard with the crying but hey it works for now.

I'm going to gag. All it took was that lousy song and strawberry with whip cream? Por favor! She deserves all the hurt she gets. Compare the amount of time she has actually been with Daniel with the amount of time she has been in prison, secuestrada or just simply being hated on by Daniel... This is not love, it is a sickness. I'm glad she finally said that.
Roxana finally spoke and told Memín why she was mute! We must be approaching the final weeks.
Lucía is ready to kill Lilliana. And Lilliana is about to hatch a plan to kill Lucía once and for all. How will Nuria play into this?
Radamés beats up Helena. Like we didn't see that coming. And Ivana upset that Pablo came to her rescue, mujersuala.

Thanks, Novelera, excellent job. I'm glad you could hear all those alternate names, because they mostly flew right by me. I keep hearing the cops refer to Nat as Elias, but it now seems as if everyone (except the 3 Amigos) has at least 2 names. What's up with THAT?
I was amused when Sergio said not only was the name of his movie a secret, but he personally wrote, produced and directed it. This impressed Erica, but I don't know....
I thought Luciana's outburst would be a daydream of what she COULD have done, but it turned out to be real, which may just help her in her dealings with Daytona. Or course she won't tell anyone what really happened.
Renato has now been injured three times, his neck was cut, he was shot in the side, and now in the knee. And he hardly bats an eye.
I thought that not only was Iggy pulling at Anas' clothes, he was trying to strip her. Someone later said he was trying to humiliate her. It's a good thing both Renato, and surprisingly Conrado were able to fight back.
Our two friendly cops were there, but of course they're always one step behind. I get the feeling, though, that Salvador is some kind of super cop, so that might change things.
I loved Vero's lime green top and purplish skirt. I'm not sure if that color combo would work today.
I thought it funny again when the teacher said to each row "pass them" instead of "pass them out", or "pass them down".
Aficionada, you are very funny about your evolving recapping technique. I enjoyed your recap, thanks!
I can add a few not terribly important things:
-- In the cantina conversation, Pablo told weepy Marisela to act like a police officer, suck it up basically and drink more tequila.
-- Lucha told Daniel they both suffered from the "sickness." She strongly stated that no one who truly loved someone would treat her as he did.
-- Ivana yelled to Rad during the confrontation that Elena was cheating on him.
-- Deya and Eugenio conversation, Deya confessed she had been a prostitute for 10 years, and Neno said so what, he had been a drug addict, now clean for 5 years, gave a sweet speech about leaving the past behind, and they made a plan to go out after work. Carlos was sitting at another table, eavesdropping and fuming.
-- the maid who sprung to Elena's aid is Rosa [I think].
Clara
Great recap, novelera. Many thanks!
I too expected that when Anas left the confessional she'd bump into an eavesdropping Irene. I'm still not 100% sure that Irene didn't hear anything. And, again like you, I was surprised that the priest gave Anas communion.
Perhaps the high point of this episode for me was the appearance of Alberto Jiménez. I LOVED his portrayal of Oleg Yasikov in La Reina del Sur, and I've been waiting impatiently for him to appear. I was somewhat confused about his role--I wasn't even sure whether he was a cop or a baddie (hmm...I suppose these days that isn't always either/or). I don't know why they bothered to show this scene as being in New York, unless it was to appeal to an audience of people who have never been to New York and would enjoy "seeing" it.
Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to tonight's episode.
Juanita, since this was in the 70's, in the view of New York they also showed the Twin Towers, which brought back a lot of memories.
"Yo mate a mi esposa" ... Intense scene with the confession of Ana killing her husband to the priest. Very believable.
I think when she accepted communion that was her way of stating she was now "ok" for what she had done since she had confessed her sins to the priest. Not sure though. Interesting scene.
Thanks to that gun battle at the funeral we won't have to worry about the priest having to break his vows and tell the police about Ana.
thanks so much novelera!
there was quite a bit that went over my head in this one.
Irene is creeping me out.
and the other zombie Gina comes to the funeral and tells Anas she is sorry for her loss, yow.
I couldn't believe Anas telling the priest she killed her husband, well, she did say it was an accident, and I'm thinking how long will this guy be around, longer than I expected because I was thinking Anas would just shoot him when she was done.
hmm, I thought Leandro wanted everyone killed but it seems that he just wanted to humiliate everyone first, I think that's why Iggy was stripping Anas, and I suppose he wants to decapitate Nat, eye for an eye and such.
smart that Anas hustled off her guys before the cops got there.
that Saul is pretty sharp, he caught a glint of Renato's gun when he got into the ambulance.
the New York stuff could have been a movie where the director called cut and everyone gets up and leaves.
Mala Suerte is mala suerte, how is Erica falling for this stuff, and why is Daisy not tipping her off?
loving how Luciana jumped up, grabbed Daytona and threw her over the desk, I wasn't expecting that, and forget Chad, what is he doing hanging out with those girls anyway.
and what IS it with the double names. what comes to mind is Leandro getting false passports, maybe these guys use different names in the states.
Thanks, Aficionada, for the details and quotes. They made me remember just how crazy last night's episode was. In fact my comments are more about the writers and the script than the characters.
I'll start with Radames. Helena already informed him that they were in the process of getting a divorce so he shouldn't have had any expectations unless he was faking amnesia as we suspected and which was confirmed by his abuse last night. I hope someone "eliminates" him soon. And while you're at it, take Ivanna too. Hard to respect a woman as calculating as she is whose puts her own interest (a man) above the domestic violence she witnesses. Perhaps she suddenly appeared in the novela in order to "disappear" later on.
As for Pablo, I'm usually a fan of his but he screwed up with Ivanna. He's free to move on but never with someone who lives with your love interest. What struck me last night was when he told Marisela not to cry and that she didn't make it this far by doing so (i.e. giving in to her feelings). I'm sure a man wrote that line. Holding things in has never benefited anyone in the long run.
And I guess it's a good thing Lucia distanced herself from Daniel (of course after the lovin'). We all know that he'll return to his old, accusatory self when he realizes that Rafael is really Oleg.
Back to the writers, shame on them for letting Roxana and Memin find the flash drive, have Memin acknowledge that it's the reason Roque was killed, yet do nothing at all.
Also, I don't know how Liliana can rule over so many "tough" men (who could easily kill her) yet allow her sister, her #1 enemy, to throw her across the room without a fight.
Lastly, I did like the scene when Carlos overheared the conversation between Deya and Eugenio. As Eugenio put it they're both recovering from something and this can potentially bond them which makes him more of a rival to Carlos (who as a psychiatrist failed to treat HIS own relationship). Eugenio does seem a little creepy to me so I'm still hoping Carlos wakes up and gets the gal in the end.

Something seemed inconsistent in last night's episode, probably not all that unusual in telenovelas where I suspect scripts get written under fire.
Ignacio hissed in Anastasia's ear a question about whether she knew that Nataniel Cardona had peed on Nicanor Quezada's coffin. She replied that she did know this. But in earlier episodes Anastasia was portrayed as not knowing much about what Nat did. In fact she grilled him after, I think, the second attack. She said he must have done something awful for all this revenge to be inflicted on them, thus intimating she didn't know what had caused the attacks. And, still later, she berated him by saying he'd broken his promise to keep all knowledge of what he did from her.
Elena's refusal of Radames' unwanted advances in the bedroom had me quite fearful for her safety. What unfolded later came as no surprise especially as it was abetted by the loathesome Ivana who did not hesitate to throw gasoline on the fire.
I never did buy the "lovers in lockup" as plausible in any way; a pretty lame plot device, but how else were the writers going to get the star-crossed duo together for a close encounter? And yuck, that silly strawberry ploy. I suppose Dan thought he was being playful with the whipped cream. Anselmo's bf I am so with you on that. Well, I had to close my eyes after that point and didn't open them again until I heard Lucha starting to reassert herself.
Aficionada, you gave a great description of a minor, but important scene with the cops downing tequila in the tavern. Glad to see the Marisela character a little more fleshed out. She was pretty un-dimensional for a while there, but now she has real feelings and the possibility of a relationship (let's hope). But that "just buck up and be one of the boys" theme is rather distressing. I wish they would allow the strong women to be strong on their own terms. Clara I don't know if that's your real name, but you make all your points quite clara for me.
I like that wiley Nuria too; she's s survivor and I can't fault her for malice or evil; she's just looking after No.1. When the anvils start to fall (and aren't we getting close now?), I hope hers isn't a direct hit.
And wasn't our truth-telling Adri the one who told Abel that it would be best to come clean with papa Ignacio because he doesn't have a lot of time left for dishonesty. Something like that? Now, she wants to shield him from the ugly truth to keep his blood pressure down (yeah, and what about hers?). Well, has she actually admitted (to herself or anybody else) what Abel's real problem is, other than that he can't get it up with her? Or does she think that being gay is somehow an ugly truth? Has Abel admitted it to himself? Or has he been too distracted by the competition to figure out why he's not a real husband to Adriana. I do love her sweet smile when she's not looking "so sad and pinched". Doc Gonzalo has been nothing if not professional in all his recent encounters with the both of them.
Looks like Lucha has gone into overdrive, since the sequestration with Dan and then the news about La Bruja Mala. Those poor kids. They were safer before the adults got involved in trying to protect them. Now that Lucha's blabbed to Lil, they are more vulnerable than ever. Discretion is not her strong suit.
And I adored the sweet confessional scene with Neno & Deya. Carlos did well to eavesdrop; he may have to search through his own arrogant psyche to uncover the unwitting condescension in his attitude. Spanish student I'm with you about the creepy quality, but toward the end of their conversation, I was willing to accept him. I bet being with Deya will "un-creep" him a bit.

Novelera for Duenos
RIP was NOT in the script last night. Surprised all the dearly departed didn't run for their peace and tranquility. Ignacio is really a vile person, too bad he is also sexy looking. NY was of course on the drug route, so they need contacts there. Great to see dear Oleg, I have to remember his new name.
Don't forget, I'm on for tonight (Friday), so take a break and enjoy your weekend.
LXV, we all know that Radames doesn't have a case. Hard to believe that a physically abuse man "with Amnesia" (who supposedly didn't remember his oldest child" and with documented ties to a drug lord would ever get custody of his son. I wish the writers gave her the "claws" to fight back. Her quiet, supposedly classy, demeanor is so self-defeating. I'm glad she's home now so she can learn a few things from Chelo.

Thought you might find this interesting, the wealthiest people in Mex
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/5-wealthiest-people-mexico-190100413.html
LXV: "This is NOT the shy & gentle 'Rafael' she knew from the months of sequestration." Yes! And he is getting worse, because he so genuinely hates, which Rafael clearly did not. It has come as if he forgets he is even pretending, now!
spanish student: "Ivanna was the worst last night. I suspect we're going to see more of how far she's willing to go to nab a man." Yes, she is striking me as dangerous now.
And, "I find it hard to empathize with [Abel] him. As LXV stated, these days he's free to be true to himself. But he seems almost childlike and undeserving of the good doctor." I agree. I had started to think he was getting better, but after last night, I feel more contempt for him than before. A coward, and dominating!
Anselmo's bf: "If Olegario finds the the USB drive before he is found out, he could turn it over to the police to take down Lilliana, Radamés and Genaro. After all, he's not El Diablo and he loves to talk about bad person his brother was." Yes, good point! I hadn't thought of that - taking that tack could make him less likely to harm the kids. "It is almost like he is praising himself for being so bad." I think that, too!
Clara, thank you! lol: " Isn't it common practice for druglords to have 'doubles?' "
Just started this, had much to comment about, but have to rush back off, for now. to be continued ...

Anselmo's bf: Thank you for adding many important points. I felt that gag, too.
¡Gracias por el nombre del doctor Mallorca!
Thank you, Clara! " ... you are very funny about your evolving recapping technique." Very kind! And thank you for adding those important points! I seem to have to choose to see OR to hear when I am trying to get notes. I completely missed what Ivanna had yelled, so actually gasped when Rad exploded so instantly.
How nicely you describe the exchange between sad, wounded Deya and Neno. I find them touching. I wish Carlos would LEARN from them, instead of FUMING. Again, we see what LXV so rightly calls "antler bashing" conquering reason - in a psychiatrist!
Thank you, spanish student, for your kind words to me, and for adding so much! I agree, the writers need to be more insightful. You showed many ways their writing would have been more natural, and definitely more sensitive. I wanted to slam Ivanna for every contact by Radames on Helena - I am not one to wish people to be eliminated or disappear, but I am with you on them. Sickened, near hatred.
Marisela seems fated to have to hold her feelings in. I imagine being a cop literally costs that, since it clearly does for men cops too, just more so for women who are suspect from the start. I mean, Dan gets to cry and be about congratulated! And you said it, yes, "Holding things in has never benefited anyone in the long run."
"We all know that [Dan] he'll return to his old, accusatory self when he realizes that Rafael is really Oleg." Yes. Starting to feel holding my breath for that, it coming soon.
" ... Carlos (who as a psychiatrist failed to treat HIS own relationship)." YES! Wishing he would wake up, too. I thought he did look a little thoughtful at one point, hearing Deya and Neno, then he fell to fuming again! Carlos, Heal thyself, as saying goes!

lxv, thank you for adding so much! " Well, I had to close my eyes after that point and didn't open them again until I heard Lucha starting to reassert herself." With you there!
"I wish they would allow the strong women to be strong on their own terms" - well said! I think the Marisela "buck up and be one of the boys" echoed just what you'd said the other day about calling her by her girl name because they have her playing so tough, so butch, when she is clearly a sensitive person, while staying at the top of her hardened department.
Agree on Nuria: a wiley survivor. I fear she is being set up as the ... is it fall guy? Did you get more clear what I missed about the warehouse ... is it put in her name by Genaro?
Got to say, this pulled me up short. I'd not really realized, but so true!: "And wasn't our truth-telling Adri the one who told Abel that it would be best to come clean with papa Ignacio because he doesn't have a lot of time left for dishonesty. Something like that? Now, she wants to shield him from the ugly truth to keep his blood pressure down (yeah, and what about hers?)." YES!!!
Agree, too, I have very much admired Doctor Gonzalo's professional manner in such a deeply personal case.
Sigh: "Those poor kids. They were safer before the adults got involved in trying to protect them. Now that Lucha's blabbed to Lil, they are more vulnerable than ever. Discretion is not her strong suit."
"[Carlos] he may have to search through his own arrogant psyche to uncover the unwitting condescension in his attitude." Wishing he would/could!
"I bet being with Deya will 'un-creep' [Neno] him a bit." Wishing that, too. He does seem sweet and sincere, to me.
Variopinta: "Tks Aficionada for Los mis, the only way I can 'see' this one" Very welcome! Is the same, in reverse, for me! I am "seeing" Dueños ONLY through and thanks to you all!
LXV: "you crack me up." :D "Your version in your voice is such a plus!" more blush
Coming from YOU ... just ... muy muchas gracias, thank you so very much dear lxv.
"smart enthusiastic people responding," such as yourself - the best!!
... more soon. time to do just that: "take a break and enjoy weekend." Now, you too, I hope!

OMG, they killed Lucía! But she can't be dead, because she is la elegida de Dios to continue the work at La Misericordia. But how could she possibly survive an assassin’s shot directly to the chest? Maybe Sor Amparo misspoke when she appeared to Lucía. She meant to say Lucía's sister, Helena, is the chosen one.
I'm glad to see that El Diablo has finally remembered who his true and loyal partner is – Anselmo.
I assume Nuria will tell Olegario that Liliana ordered Lucía's death. This should really motivate El Diablo to take down Lilliana now, but it would cause him to completely drop the Rafael facade.
It was good to see that Marina was able to maintain some level of professionalism. I don't even want to talk about Ivana, qué asco!
I was thinking... if Daniel wasn't such a pendejo, he would have realized that Genero had something to do with Cesar's murder. When the team arrived at the scene, Marisela noted that there were two plates but only one glass. Much later, Genero sends that glass to Daniel to implicate Lucía. Did it not occur to Daniel that Genero was in possession of a piece of evidence that was not at the scene when they arrived?

Aficionada, hope i didnt sound cruel about Radames and Ivanna. I may not have the thickest skin, so knowing that half the bad guys are usually killed in the novelas, i tend to expect it with the cruelest of characters who specialize in torturing the good and innocent. Plus i've yet to see Radames show any remorse like Chelo's husband.
Anselmo's bf, you made a very good point about Daniel's, really the entire team's, cluelessness about the extent of Genaro's betrayal. I don't the the officers have even mentioned his name in months.
Looking forward to watching last night's episode.

Oops, meant to say "I don't think the officers have even mentioned his (Genaro's) name in months". And to think Genaro, Daniel's former friend and 2nd in charge, is the real murderer of Cesar.

This show continues to be gripping with suspense, combined with occasional humor.
Luciana is grounded for her fight at school, Chad comes to see her, and Vero won't let him, but later tells Luci he was there. The look in Luci's eyes tells her Mom she's in luuuv! Back at school, Daytona tells her she doesn't want to them to be enemies or rivals, let's shake on it. They do. Maybe Luci's toughness worked. Maybe not.
Once again Adán says he in. Anas comes to Conrado and Adán's complex, meets Erica and Vero, the guys are freaking out a little about this. She tells them (privately) they have to bring the money they've made so far to her house. In the back room, Adán tells Conrado NO WAY is he going to that house! What house? asks Vero. Whoops. Meanwhile Conrado is reaming Erica out, jealous of her producer Sergio, when Anas sexily says hi to Conrado. Hmmm, now Conrado shuts right up.
The guys end up taking their ladies to Anas' mansion, Vero, wearing a little bo peep dress (I don't know what else to call it) says gee, quite a big house, and why does she need guards? Adán privately tells Anas the money's in the trunk. Anas gets the keys, gives them to a guard, and Vero later sees the guard hand over a suitcase to Anas. Looks suspicious, and Adán later has to stumble around and lie himself silly to quiet Vero down. Again.
Anas gives Mario (who was also there), Conrado and Adán their cuts of the money, but Conrado says Adán is thinking of jumping ship. Anas says you really can't, I need you guys, and gives Adán an extra stack of bills as an incentive. Adán agrees, but then when Anas says you guys are going to have to carry guns, they're again opposed, but again end up agreeing.
Anas trusts Conrado and Adán, they're loyal and smart, but she has a bad feeling about Mario. (I don't see why, he's got the best 70's clothes of the whole group :) They also need a warehouse, and Mario has one ready in North Miami. And a cover business. This part I didn't get, Adán had some idea, but I missed what it was.
I just remembered, Anas didn't just greet Conrado, she brazenly told Erica that Conrado saved her life. And she also privately gave Conrado a solid gold cigarette lighter as his reward.
We see Iggy taking pictures of Adán, Conrado, Luciana (!) He recognizes Conrado from the funeral. Uh oh.
Vero shows Adán the newspaper cover story of Anas/Muriel's husband Nat/Elias (she only knows the cover names) getting dropped from a helicopter. Why didn't you tell me, honey? Adán gulps. Again.
The cops are not getting anywhere, they have little evidence, but two cops, Montsalvo (or was it Gonazalo) and a female cop have staked out a house. Nothing much going on, but then they see a taxi pull up, and 3 hookers go in (one of them is Daisy). Inside, it's Iggy and crew! Iggy recognizes Daisy from that hotel room, she says she won't breathe a word to anyone, she's just working. Out in the cop car, they call in their suspicions. The lady cop, thinking fast, strips off her blouse, and wearing her bra as a top, knocks on the door. Iggy answers, she says I'm with them. Iggy says why are you late. I may be late, but I'm the BEST she says, french kissing him (we see a quick look of disgust on her face). Inside, the party's starting with the hookers and Iggy and his guys, to celebrate their success in taking Nat's coffin. Daisy and another girl happen to walk into the back room and see the coffin! They open it up and see Nat's body! The other girl screams. Both are hustled out into the main room, Daisy calmly insisting she saw nothing. But the other girl can't contain herself, says we saw a coffin and a body. Big mistake, Iggy shoots her dead. The lady cop pulls her gun, nobody move! Montsalvo hears this, gets his gun out, heads towards the house. All hell breaks loose. The lady cop shoots Iggy in the shoulder, just a mild wound, he also shoots her, a slight wound. The girls rush outside, Daisy runs into Montsalvo, he goes to help her, a guard points his rifle at Monty, who says shoot me. A shot rings out, but the lady cop has killed the guard! Everybody flees.
Later, Mauricio and Saúl arrive, break into the house, find one girl tied up in a back room. They remove her gag, she screams "Bomb!", under the chair a timer is ticking down, Mauricio says we have time (there's about a minute and a half left!) he unties her ropes, they dive outside and the house explodes! No ones, hurt, but there's no trace of the coffin or the other bad guys.
Anas goes to visit Renato in the hospital. She's told the cops her "assistant's" name is Juan :) "Juan"/Renato is about to be discharged, Anas is going out to the car, Renato says who's your bodyguard right now? Anas says you are, I'll be right back.
Don't think so, as outside the hospital, she's kidnapped by Iggy!!!!!!!!!
The Genaro thing doesn't make sense. Has Lucia told Dan or anyone else that there is a bad cop? That was her reason for not going to the police in the 1st place.
Duenos,
Tks Hombre. Wow, Anas is in trouble now.
Bad boy Iggy in a much better light
http://www.peopleenespanol.com/gallery/12-cosas-que-no-sabias-de-juan-pablo-llano-duenos-del-paraiso-villano-actor-colombiano
Thanks so much, Hombre, for another great recap. I was surprised when Montsalvo (or whatever his name is) said to the guy with the gun, "Go ahead, shoot me." Did he see that his female cop partner was about to shoot the bad guy? I don't think we saw her. To me it looked like incredibly stupid macho posturing. It's not as if he was talking to someone like Adán. The guy he was talking to would surely have shot him in a second.
I was also somewhat surprised that Anas went outside without a bodyguard. I don't know whom she was calling, but couldn't the call have waited, rather than her making it out in the open, unprotected, with her back turned? I mean, even if she isn't yet as savvy as she'll become, she knows that the bad baddies are out to get her. Oh well, if everyone acted in ways that made sense, we'd have no telenovelas.:-)
BTW, I too noticed the twin towers in the previous episode, and for me, too, it brought back a flood of memories.
Muchas gracias, Variopinta, for the lovely eye candy. Apparently "Iggy" does lots of push-ups even when he's not acting in a telenovela. Yum.
HOTEL FARAON, LILIANA'S LAIR:
Dragon lady storms in telling Genaro in no uncertain terms that she doesn't want Lucia Duran to live another day. She wants her dead & buried. Genaro still doesn't get her obsession with her sister. Some thug with bad hair arrives with bad news: Anselmo may be in the carcel, but there's this Pepe, the other lieutenant of the supposedly dead Diablo. "Bring him here" she orders.
PSYCHIATRIST OFFICE OF MARINA:
Ever the professional and smarter than we've given her credit for, Marina lays it out for Dan. He's not in love with her. She realized that. He has to face the fact that he still loves Lucia Duran. I guess he concedes that she's right and says he respects her; but respect isn't what she's after. They yammer back and forth a bit about being honest about their feelings and they part with smiles & a peck on the cheek. "See ya soon."
HOTEL LOBBY:
"Raf" is haranguing Lucha for leaving him plantado when she ran off the other day with no explanation; was she with that imbecile of a Daniel, or what? He's starting to act so grabby and possessive, she harangues right back at him to pipe down and stop behaving like a novio which he isn't. She's sorry she left him abruptly like that, but she owes him no explanations. She's a free woman. He counters with "But I'm worried about your safety; you mean a lot to me" But his demeanor has changed so!
CASA DURAN:
Iggy comforts the battered Elena; she reveals that Radames was faking the memory loss all along. And she's not going to play the sap for ni un dia mas! The truth comes out that this whole bad marriage was Fernanda's idea and the spineless Iggy was never able to help her. Elena forgives everybody even Radames (what?) Chelo walks in to say somebody's at the door for Elena.
LILY'S LAIR:
Lily picks the ugly thug's brains about this Pepe's weak spot. He tells her the guy is terrified of bugs, you know, spiders, scorpions etc. Lily smirks. Rad barges in and she kind of brushes him off waving her very-toned muscular arms (the girl works out), but Rad's on a rant: He wants that desgraciado of a Pablo eliminated! She pretty much tells him she's no hired gun and if he wants that job done he has to hire his own sicario. And shut up about the small stuff, because we've got bigger fish to fry. Some of Diablo's old staff is running around up north. She barks orders to the ugly thug (and Genaro, as well I guess) "Get a move on, you, and bring that Pepe here."
Rad points a finger at Lily saying "you've changed" to which she replies, "yeah and it's a wild jungle out there and I'm a fiera hembra. And furthermore, I still think you're cute. so she puts the moves on the old geezer. He stops her right here saying, and furthermore, you've turned into a liar as well. She flirts right back to his disgust.
CASA DURAN:
Pablo is waiting in the fonda when Elena comes out. He wants to talk and confesses he was using Ivana as a ploy. She's not happy and accuses him of using women. He protests and wonders if she could still love him. She shrugs and goes off on a liberated woman rant of her own (a very mild rant, of course) But she's standing firm that she's not going to depend on a man anymore to find happiness. Pablo: "Elena, you're not getting it. I love you!" She tells him love has to do with faith, and she's lost hers. Goodbye Pablo.
EL HOSPITAL:
"Raf" brings coffee & chocolate to Lucha in her tight-fitting white uniform. Sor Mili approaches and greets "Senor Montes" with a wide smile, explaining about his generous gift. Mili wants to shout out the good news, while "Rafa" prefers to keep things quiet. He's only doing his moral duty after all. Mili invites him to the memorial service for the deceased (at "Rafa"'s hand, let us not forget) Sor Amparo.
POLICE DEPT:
Dan & Pab. They discuss "Operation Cumbia". It's on for tonight. Night falls on the D.F.; the operatives gather at HQ. Marisela is in on this, she's dressed up as a pole dancer and has to endure a lot of foolish boy-talk from her leering compas de trabajo (all guys, of course). Of course she's wearing a wire right between her breats and Evaristo has to adjust it. Dan marches up: "The first thing goes wrong and you're outta there, got that?" She's all gung-ho.
EL HOSPITAL:
Elena visits Lucha; she asks after Adriana's health. Elena shrugs her new feeling of freedom. Lucha tries to talk her into taking a job at the hospital. Elena wants to feel useful. An emergency emerges through the doors. Doc Mallorca and Lucha single-handedly spring to action.
THE NIGHTCLUB:
Dark, loud, pole dancers and guys drinking. In walks our Colombiano with assorted henchmen. Pablo speaks not so surreptitiously into the microphone on his lapel. The drug gang orders up the best table and the best girls. Dan is surveilling from what looks like a van out in the street. Marisela does her dance act. Evaristo & Dan watch on a remote screen. Pablo watches in real life. The guys ooze concern for their gal out there on the floor. She does a little lap dancing with the Colombiano. Evaristo, in the van is jumping out of his skin. Leon is very smart, putting the guy off with a promise of mañana.
THE RENTED WAREHOUSE:
Lily and Nuria both wearing cocktail dresses (do they ever wear ordinary clothing) which seems more than usually out of place in this rough location. Nuria is squealing in that endearing/annoying way. Genaro has a tarantula in a box. Nuria is squeamish; Lil is fascinated. The hired sicario is ushered in by Genaro. Lily says pleased to meetcha, can you do the job. He says he's won prizes. She hands him his orders. Nuria protests weakly that it's her sister how can she do this.
Pobre de Pepe is brought in; He is bound to a chair. Lily grills him; he insists that Marrero is dead; Lily puts on a leather glove and starts the torture by tarantula. These scenes don't bear describing. Suffice it to say that he Pepe expires before he talks. That's a good soldier!
EL HOSPITAL:
Emergency room scene; some guy on a gurney yelling; Lucia in super-efficient nurse mode. Elena helps out? What? How is that even legal? After the emergency, they pat each other on the back and compliment Elena for her abilities. Oh Pshaw! The other nurse then says to Lucha: "why don't you just go home." all the emergencies are under control. (This was obviously written by someone who has never worked an emergency room.) Just as she's leaving, she is accosted by Marina. "Can we talk?" Lucha isn't interested. Marina taunts her with the fact that she would L-o-o-o-ve to have Dan, but he won't have her because he loves Lucia. What a manipulator! Sheesh! Nasty! So then, she enlarges her theme saying that she wants to be completely ethical about this and won't poach on another woman's territory, so do you love Dan or don't you? Long pause: Lucha says "Si, profundamente" Whew! she goes on to explain that she's not going back to him because he doesn't believe in her and their relationship has only caused pain. Does that do it for you? Marina, a bit cowed, says yes, it does. So she plans to wait it out until Dan figures it out, then she'll have him. And by the way, you're a really honest person Lucia. You look me straight in the eyes when you talk, and we could have been friends.
DAN'S OFFICE:
The guys are having a drink. Evaristo can't stop being jealous about Marisela's fine professional performance that evening. Dan can't get get Lucha out of his head and they are all feeling sorry for themselves when the 4th sorry fool walks in: Carlos. Misery loves company.
"RAFAEL"S APARTMENT IN THE HOTEL FARAON:
He's pouring a nightcap; Nuria burst in still wearing the gold cocktail dress in which she witnessed the gruesome demise of Pepe, which he proceeds to describe. "Rafa" clenches his jaw at the news.
CITY MORGUE:
Pepe is laid out on a slab. The regular police and our dream team confer about the victim and cause of death. A note was found on the body (something about El Diablo). The body is correctly identified and they talk about the activity of the El Norte gang. The regular cop says it looks like a vendetta. Pablo wants to take charge. Dan leaves
EL HOSPITAL:
Carlos & Elena are introduced; she's going to be his new assistant (with what qualifications, I'd like to know). Deya lurks in the background looking unhappy.
Dan & "Raf" face off about Amparo's death. Milagros says don't dirty her name on this sacred occasion. Luch hauls "Raf" off to the capilla "Raf" doesn't miss an opportunity to GLARE at Dan. I think Dan picks up on this, maybe not with his brain exactly, at some level.
POLICE DEPT:
The team is discussing an operation, when who should barge in unannounced but that most odious Ivana, tearing into Pablo right in the midst of his place of work. Discretion, decency, deportment? anyone? Pablo hustles her off to continue her tirade in private. "Darling are you mad at me?" "Mad, that's nothing, I'm furious!" A rough scene follows including coarse insults and ending with a slap across Pablo's face. He throws her out as she curses him.
LA CAPILLA DEL HOSPITAL: A memorial service for Amparo:
"Rafa" (the great benefactor) fidgets sitting next to Lucha; Dan & Lucha cast sidelong glances at each other; Marina arrives late and squishes herself next to Dan on the pew; farther down that same pew (where there is actually a lot of space), sits a desolate & despondent Carlos. Deya sits behind, looking everywhere but at him.
Lil's hired killer with the high-powered rifle gets on the phone to tell his boss he's in position, but nothing's happened yet. She tells him to be patient, if it takes all day. "Don't worry, jefa, I'm a professional Lucia Duran won't live out this day." Lily wants her good 'n' dead or he doesn't get paid.
LILIANA'S LAIR: Genaro comes in with a newspaper article; "check this out, they're talking about some narco who was stung to death by tarantulas! Hah!" Lily kind of grimaces.
PRISON: Anselmo gets a visit from Nuria in drag (she's all decked out with a long black wig, sunglasses and a trenchcoat. Subtle, no? She gives him the news that El Diablo no esta muerto.
LA CAPILLA: the service is over, Dan introduces the lady shrink to Sor Milagros who tries to recruit her (volunteer) services at the hospital. "Raf" walks in with Lucha who thanks him, he's putting on his most ingratiating sincere act here. Milagros tries to get Dan to warm up to the great benefactor, but Dan say's he looks so much like the guy who killed his precious auntie that he just can't go there. The lone gunman is seen through the window taking aim, his sights clearly on his quarry. "Raf" goes to leave, Lucha turns slightly and Marina says "Daniel, what is that red light shining on Lucha's left breast?" Indeed there is a red dot clearly seen against her white uniform. They all turn to look. Dan's police instincts rule as he leans into a lunge grabbing Lucha as she falls from the precise shot to her heart (or thereabouts)
Believe me, those two have caused me the meanest of thoughts!
Good weekend to you!
Aficionada
More on that later ....
Very fine weekend to you!
Aficionada
thanks so much Hombre!
this story goes by so fast I miss things.
good catch earlier on the twin towers, I guess they were opened in 1973, then the tallest buildings in the world.
why was Iggy's place being staked out, nice of the lady cop to hustle Daisy out, (always strange to see a good person in these shows), but wow, when she beat feet out of there herself she didn't think twice about shooting that guard in the back on her way by, and has anyone seen those two cops since or are they still running.
and I must have missed the part about Anas being a sweet innocent girl, because she's walking right into the business, and knows the score.
Veronica, now there is some sweet innocence. Luciana I think has paid her dues and is now IN with the crowd and free to warm up to Chad, but where is this going. (will she some day get a taste for coke)
ah, Gina catches Anas on her way out, can we talk, I want to go far away and have the baby, you'll never see me again, you can't keep me here...
yes I can, says Anas.
Daisy not only isn't tipping Erica on her acting career, but seems totally clueless about everything as she blabs about it in front of Conrado.
strange to see Renato bedridden, I'm surprised he didn't jump up when he heard Anas was alone, so she calls Mario and wants him to get the guys going and move the rest of the coke, NOW, is this to keep Leandro from getting his foot in the door?
Thanks, Novelera and Hombre. You covered key stuff that I missed.
Poor Daisy. Girl, time to find a new line of work. Iggy and a dead body keep cropping up at your gigs. Deb, I too am wondering why Daisy isn’t tipping Erica about her past with Mala Suerte.
Adán was trying not to take La Guera to Anas’ home, but she overheard and insisted on coming. Surely Veronica will put 2 and 2 together, but then she’s been with her husband for 17 years so I can see why drug trafficker wouldn’t pop in her mind.
If I heard it right, Anas wants a method to cover her income and not have trouble with the IRS. Mario suggested a salsa club, but she doesn’t want innocent people endangered. Adán mentioned something about using luxury items and Anas asks what he knows about that. He say he trained in tax/finance law.
I can’t believe Anas is not smart enough to have a bodyguard outside the hospital. It was Mario whom she called on the pay phone.
I'm still not trusting the mean girls. Luciana, watch your back.
I'm with Nuria, felt squeamish, kept going away from Fri's epi. Saw Elena with a bloody leg [what?], saw pole dancing but had no idea it was Marisela, etc. I tend to go away whenever queasy-making Lili or sicarios appear on screen.
So, thanks so much lxv!! for filling in all the spaces with such style. I did see Marina's speech; glad she kicked it up a notch.
And thanks to Aficionada and lxv for acknowledging my comments...
Q, why did Oleg kill Sor Amparo? Was she on the verge of discovering something?
Clara [siempre luchando por claridad]
thanks so much lxv,
love your recaps!
where did they say Pepe was bitten?
btw, I guess they like using Tarantulas because they take ugly spiders to a whole new level, but the truth is, "these spiders are harmless to humans (except for a painful bite), and their mild venom is weaker than a typical bee's."
http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/bugs/tarantula/
"when the 4th sorry fool walks in: Carlos. Misery loves company" Ha!
love everyone's comments on Nuria, it helps me to appreciate how really annoying she can be.
so could we be thinking Olegario is a nice guy, compared to Lili that is,
nah.
wow, Dan was a half step from knocking Lucia out of the way, did he bump her enough for the shot to miss her heart? (and after all they are in a hospital)
El Diablo killed Sor Amparo by accident. He thought it was Daniel. She had accompanied Daniel to his place because he was drunk because of something or the other with Lucha. She was sleeping in the downstairs bedroom. El Diablo riddled her with bullets.
-Anselmo's bf
thanks deb for the answers -for some reason whenever Valverde is on screen I zone out or get called out of the room or something
Tarantulas, have a bad rap, I was just going to google them myself. I've seen many people handling them, not me of course. Daddy long legs is my spider of choice, no fuzzy legs. Now, scorpions creep me out. We used to have to shake out our shoes before putting them on, just in case.
I guess you could be allergic to the venom of any critter.
!Dios Mio! now Dan will really be beating himself up, just not enough.
Narco novelas are sort of fascinating. Sure, they try to get in the tsk, tsk mode and show you how bad the whole thing is. But at the same time they make the protagonists interesting and you end up sort of rooting for them. The first season of El Señor de los Cielos and La Reina del Sur come to mind.
In the case of the Pablo Escobar one, they didn't put any lipstick on that pig!
So I find myself being annoyed at Verónica for her hectoring tone. And wondering why Anas' needs so many guards! But, of course, I should be on her side as the good, honest person. But we can't help to want the story to move forward, and she's sort of a fly in the ointment for now.
I think we see where Adán is going to fit into the plans. He'll figure out a business to launder the profits and likely stay out of the more violent aspects of el negocio.
I suppose they really do live that way, but I always get disgusted at the thugs hiring in a bunch of girls that they call perras over and over.
Yep, I really admired the lady cop. I hope we see more of her. Saúl is supposed to be the senior and seasoned policeman, but he's so dour that it's kind of hard to root for him.
Iggy is SO scary. How did he find out where Conrado and Adán live? And taking a picture of Luciana, awful!
I suspect Mario Alejandro won't last out the novela. In some ways he reminds me of Patti in La Reina del Sur. He has the charm, the good looks, but likes the product he sells too much, which could make him a big liability. I think Anastasia sensed that.
novelera- hmm, I think Iggy staked out that business connected to Nat when the boys showed up to pick up the coke, and then he followed them home.
Gracias lxv for the recap. I especially liked the “the 4th sorry fool walks in: Carlos. Misery loves company “.
Could someone shed light on Genaro for me, please? I was not watching during the time he left the police force. Of course he should have gone to prison, but what happened? Why isn't he in prison??
Is Rafa/Oleg going to figure out that Nuria should have told him about the hit on Lucha?
Thanks again lxv.
Pablo was working undercover as one of El Diablo's henchmen, so he knew Genaro as an associate of El Diablo. Later after he was outed, he found out that Genero was a cop. But Genaro fled as soon as he found out that Pablo was a cop. Since then he has been spotted just once by Mrisela and Evaristo.

I urge everyone to watch "Cocaine Cowboys" a documentary about Miami in the 70s & 80s. It shows how easily someone can be drawn in, $$$$$$$. Adan is a good guy & so is Conrado, but $$$$$$$$
The docu comes on periodically on news stations like MSNBC or CNBC can't remember exactly.
It might just show in So Fl, but muy interasante $$$$$$$$
Did I express $$$$$$ enough?
Los Miz
newmex1612: "Is Rafa/Oleg going to figure out that Nuria should have told him about the hit on Lucha?"
Good question, I hadn't thought of that. This plot is layered thick. Thanks all for your comments so far.
with Elena and hurts Deya. BUT maybe Deya and the sweet guy who sincerely and unconditionally cares for her
will get together which might be better anyway. i wouldn't
want him to get used, hurt, and cast aside either. I just
hate it when sweet people are hurt. AnonGringa
Niecie- I am not trusting Daytona at all.
Was the actress playing Daytona in Santa Diabla?
Sara, yes, the girl who plays Daytona played Daniela, the daughter of Jorge/George and Bárbara, in Santa Diabla.
BTW, I just remembered a few more details. In her conversation with Renato, Anas told him their next step was to intercept one of the drug routes of the Quezadas, and not to sell the drugs, but to BURN them, to put this right in the noses of the Quezadas (this is in retaliation for the taking of Nat's body).
In another conversation, Anas told Mario they should not cut their own coke with laxatives, no, Anas wants to sell PURE cocaine, the absolute highest quality.
AnonGringaThanks for your kind words. Your comment made me think about all the uncouplings we've seen of late and how these folks are going to get back together in tandem with the major plot resolutions to bring this show to its final (which, I have not a clue about when this going to be and hope they don't ruin a good thing by overstretching).
My hunch is that Elena, after a brief run as an emancipated woman, will start to realize that her true worth is not dependent upon a man and that will leave her free to engage in a relationship on an healthier footing. I think she will want love in a new way, but deep down she still does love Pablo. Despite his momentary dalliance with the odious Ivana, which he claimed was for ulterior motives anyway, I still see him as mature and evolved (unlike that Cro_Magnon hound dog of a Daniel, who hurls himself into the arms of any woman who can scratch his itch).
I'm not a betting person, but something tells me Carlos will figure out his flaws, open his perspective and hitch back up with Deyanira. The Neno character, as sweet as he is, just doesn't have the weight, and after giving Deya's self-esteem a boost, he might end up seeming a bit colorless to her.
I'm still waiting with bated breath for Abel to come out of the closet, so Adri can be the free spirit she thinks she is, loving everybody especially Evaristo (he is the baby daddy after all).
We haven't seen Octavio for a couple of episodes, but they have to give Vicki's baby a proper set of parents, so that's my prediction. He's on the outs right now because he was so decidedly anti-Lucha prior to her vindication. So it may take a while to bring him around.
Fernanda's already proven her decency as a fitting partner for Ignacio, so that one's checked off. Chelo may stay with Ramon, but who really cares?
Neither Diablo nor Liliana will be needing a partner where they're going. And Nuria will be lucky to escape with her life.
What about Marisela?
AND what about Lucia Duran? I still maintain (sorry to be beating a dead horse about this) that she could ride into this sunset without any extra baggage and still triumph. Just my opinion.
Thank you Hombre. Daytona looked familiar but I couldn't place her.
I have to respect that Anastasia wants to sell just the good stuff. I don't know much about the cocaine biz, but I would think that building a reputation on quality is a good thing.
predictions are probably correct. I was just speaking
from my heart. I started to add some of the things
that you mentioned but didn't want to take the time.
You write so well!
AnonGringa
Thanks, Sara and Hombre, for pointing out that the woman who plays Daytona played Daniela in Santa Diabla. I thought she looked familiar, but I couldn't place her.
Variopinta, thanks for recommending Cocaine Cowboys. I went to see whether I could find it in Netflix. According to Netflix, the original documentary was made in 2006, and an updated version came out in 2014 "with over an hour of new footage." I've now got the revised version, "Cocaine Cowboys Reloaded," in my DVD queue.
"Miami back then was like Alabama. They didn't have any money."
Lol! So proud -_-
from my heart" Yes, and I'm with you about bad things happening to good people. I'm liking the characters on this show for their failings as well as their strengths —well, all except Dan, that is, but they're going to have to do a personality transplant to get me in the Dan fan club.
I love seeing the possibility for change. The real baddies are less interesting because there's not a lot of room for character development. They are almost comic in their stereotype.
just in from storm clearing, have only skimmed great recap, lxv, great comments, all! thanks to all!
i'll be commenting more after i dry out and read, but right now:
LXV, we are sitting bullseye for the coming "possibly historic" snowstorm due tomorrow night. I have not seen if you already posted a definite on this, but is recapping tomorrow, monday night possible for you? Just in case, I cannot commit to recap that night. Weather folk say the electric is likely to go out.
The storm is due to pass by tuesday night, so I would be very happy to recap that, or any other night/s.
More comments later ....

Aficionada, I don't know where you're located, but we are expecting some sort of record-breaking blizzard here in Metro NYC. If the power goes out, so be it. But if all goes well, I will recap tomorrow night's show (Monday Jan 26). I hope the storm is not as bad as they are predicting. I expect to do a lot of shoveling.
"if all goes well," I will be pleased to find you have recapped - including knowing you fared well - and will comment. If you are not able to, and power allows here, I will comment, anyway.
Thank you for your reply! And take care of you!!

Nice job on the recap, Hombre ... Didn't read it all because I'm about to watch Friday's episode now. Thanks for posting it.
One thing I mean about learning how is that I don't get a sense of what will be most important, so when I have briefly noted as close to every scene possible, then figure just post the whole! Most of all, it is just as you so sweetly pointed out to me: "smart enthusiastic people responding" correct, deepen and round out every recap! I LOVE that!!
Your words … I mean, you are an amazing recapper, and writer, so it means a LOT to me.
And your comments! "I hate it when children are used as pawns." YES, me too! "Maybe this is a chance for our self-effacing Elena to grow a set (pardon me, I was thinking of claws) and finally stand up for what's really important in her life." grow a set … claws … just, brilliant.
Spanish student: "Hard to believe that" Radames - abuser, such bad supposed amnesia he forgets his own daughter, ties to drug lord … could get custody. But: money, good ol' boys, corruption … all too many, countless women!, know how horribly the odds are stacked against them. Things seem to be improving, but it must still be terrifying to face fighting the likes of the Radameses in this world. Hopefully, the (criminal!) law catches up with him in time to spare her more alienation of Nachito's affection (he proved he can be his father's most nasty ally).
"I'm glad she's home now so she can learn a few things from Chelo." YES! "claws"!
Anselmo's bf: "But [Lucia] she can't be dead, because she is la elegida de Dios to continue the work at La Misericordia …. Maybe Sor Amparo misspoke when she appeared to Lucía. She meant to say Lucía's sister, Helena, is the chosen one." LOL
"Ivana, qué asco!" Perfect, 'nuff said. Vile.
And yes, good point about Genaro, Daniel and the glass! As so many here are saying, have the writers forgotten? A whole police department sure wouldn't!
LXV, great friday recap! You gave me friday's show - turned out I missed more than i saw; and have not online, yet, either. Thank you!
I very much appreciate your take on the couples' futures!
"I still see [Pablo] him as mature and evolved (unlike that Cro_Magnon hound dog of a Daniel, who hurls himself into the arms of any woman who can scratch his itch)." Perfect.
"I'm liking the characters on this show for their failings as well as their strengths — well, all except Dan, that is, but they're going to have to do a personality transplant to get me in the Dan fan club." lol
Variopinta: "Un milagro
"I was able to watch the weekly synopsis of Los mis [on Telemundo website!], perfecto."
Yay! I think it really is improving. Maybe full capitulos soon!
Clara, I think this could subtitle Caray, Caray!:
"Clara: siempre luchando por claridad"
Is why we are here, making clarity together.
Muchas Gracias

Thanks, LXV, for a great recap and also Aficionada for your comments. I am really looking forward to tonight's episode. Of course Lucia will survive but how will Oleg respond? Now that he missed an opportunity to save her and we ended with Dan holding her dearly in his arms (pobre Marina), I'm betting that others will see more of Oleg and less of Rafael going forward.

Anselmo's bf, thanks for the info re Sor Amparo's demise. Wow, there must be a special anvil lined up for El Diablo for that one.
LXV, I love how you hate Cro-Magnon Dan.
Afiicionada and LXV, I'm with you in storm path [NYC northern 'burbs]. Stay warm, wired, and watching.

Thank you, Clara! You stay warm and well, too!
