TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Dueños del Paraíso, Los Miserables, Tierra de Reyes, etc - Week of Jan. 26, 2015
Stay safe and warm, my friends. Let's hear from you!
Labels: duenos, miserables, telemundo, tierra
HOSPITAL
Some thugs put a burlap bag over Anastasia’s head and throw her in the back of a van. Sadly, Renato doesn’t come out in time to stop this.
APARTMENT COMPLEX
Verónica grills Adán and Conrado about the front-page newspaper story regarding “Elias” having been thrown dead from a helicopter. She wants to know how they met Anastasia. Conrado says it was through Esparza. Vero says she must be involved in something very bad if they killed her husband that way. She stalks out saying she’s tired of Adán’s mysteries.
CASA ESPARZA
We see Analia leaving with the children and the evil spider Ignacio Elizondo watching.
MIAMI POLICE HQ
Saúl and Mauricio are in their boss’s office. He’s fairly grumpy and says it’s a miracle no one died the night before at that house with the shootout with the Colombians. Mauricio is all jazzed up and tells the boss that Saúl is a genius because he figured out the connection with Colombia by recognizing the ring with the emblem of a Colombian soccer team. The boss tells them he regrets it, but they’re off the case. He goes on to say that no one in his department will replace them. And who enters but nada más y nada menos que Salvador Ferrara from NYC. The boss says he’s from the DEA and will be running the investigation.
Saúl is furious and tells Ferrara that these crooks are just run of the mill criminals. Ferrara asks him when he’s seen ordinary criminals using una ametralladora (a machine gun). He goes on to say that these guys are so ordinary that you haven’t been able to catch even one! He rips them badly, saying they haven’t done their jobs, and the only thing left to say is goodbye! When Saúl calls him a clown, Ferrara replies that this clown came to save his skin. He tells Saúl he’s not a kid anymore and he should be grateful he’s not forced into retirement.
A TYPICAL TELENOVELA WAREHOUSE
Anastasia discovers she’s been captured by Ignacio who begins some major gloating. She tells him to go ahead and kill her. Iggy tells her that what he wanted from her, he already got. He slams her up against Nat’s coffin. He tells her she’s going to meet with Leandro Quezada, who’s coming to Florida to finish her off and the rest of her gang as well. He says she should be grateful the boss wouldn’t let him kill her. He brags that they already finished off her husband and she’s next on the list.
Anastasia: “Who killed him? Ah, it was you.” Iggy: “With this very gun.” Anastasia: “Your boss must be very proud of you and have you on a pedestal.” She laughs out loud. “I congratulate you! We’ll see what Leandro Quezada says when he finds out you’ve lied to him. I know you didn’t kill Nataniel Cardona. Know why I know? Because it was me!” She laughs right in his face and goes on to say that he can’t even kill her because he’s been forbidden to do so by the boss. She tells him he’s just a pathetic lap dog of Leandro Quezada. Iggy looks very nervous.
APARTMENT COMPLEX
Conrado and Erica have a very different scene than that of Vero and Adán. Erica expresses a mild case of worry. Conrado gives her a wad of money and tells her to buy something pretty. Instead she goes to see Sergio who tells her another actress had an accident and he has a role for her right now.
CASA ESPARZA
Some thugs show up and grab Mario Alejandro.
THE HIGH SCHOOL
The mean girls corner Luciana in the girls’ bathroom and try to get her to smoke some marijuana. Daytona goes on to tell her she likes her and to invite her to a party. When they come out of the bathroom, Chad is there and wonders what they’re up to. But Luciana has bought the friend thing hook, line and sinker.
APARTMENT COMPLEX
Conrado tells Adán that things will be better when Anastasia has the warehouse all arranged and they can keep work and home more separate. Renato calls Conrado to ask if they’ve seen Anas.
CASA ESPARZA
Analia comes home, shoos the kids upstairs and finds her husband badly beaten with a sign written in blood calling him a traitor.
MIAMI COFFEE HOUSE
Ferrara and the Miami police captain find Saúl and Mauricio in a coffee shop. Ferrara, very intense, says he wants all the reports and evidence they gathered in his office first thing in the morning. He tells them that “Elias” is the alias of Nataniel Cardona, a big narco. And that “Muriel” is his wife, Anastasia Cardona. Ferrara also says he’s not convinced that the Santa Norma cartel killed Nat. He wants to wait until Anas gets set up in business in Miami, so that he can get some proof. Saúl asks why he thinks she’s involved. Ferrara: “Instinct.”
CASA CARDONA
Anastasia comes home. The scene in the warehouse was a bit confusing, but I guess Iggy was told to scare her some and let her go home to await his visit. She tells Renato that Leandro Quezada wants her in exchange for her husband’s body. She scoffs. As if I want it. Renato tells her that the guys who work for Quezada are evil and sadistic beyond belief. We see a vision of these charmers around a big long table.
WAREHOUSE
Iggy calls LQ and tells him they have the body and told the widow what’s what. Iggy looks a bit worried. He says he has a house ready for the boss to stay in.
CASA CARDONA
Anastasia tells Renato she’s alive because LQ ordered it. She tells him they’ll win this war. She says it’s their chance to get them where they live. She says they need to find a way to get into that warehouse and burn up Quezada and his drugs too.
APARTMENT COMPLEX
Adán and Conrado go out to “work”. Oh No!!! Iggy and another thug lick their chops about their plan to go after Vero and Luciana after they see Adán and Conrado leave. The disgusting Iggy says he likes them young. Then they clap eyes on Erica, and seem to want her first.
CASA ESPARZA
Analia is trying to patch up Mario Alejandro. He tells Adán and Conrado that he was attacked by some Cubans, who work for Ronnie Zamora. Alejo used to sell coke for these Cubans, but they know he switched to Nat. He says the Cubans also are worried because they know that Nat’s coke is better.
SERGIO’S STUDIO
We see Erica doing a nude bath scene. So far no real porno. Whew!
GENERAL VÉLEZ, COLOMBIA
Leandro Quezada and his daughter, Amelia, are going to fly to the Bahamas and then take a boat to Miami, entering with their false passports as husband and wife.
APARTMENT COMPLEX
After Vero goes to sleep, Luciana sneaks out with Chad.
CASA CARDONA
Gina tries to sneak out with a suitcase, but Anastasia stops her. Gina says she can’t force her to live there. Anas tries a little soft soap on her, telling her she’ll have a comfortable life awaiting the birth of the child.
Just then the two children of Nataniel Cardona show up. The male, Elias Cardona, says they’ve come to share their father’s assets. He says the police will freeze everything in 48 hours. The female, Silvana Cardona, says that Anastasia is going to end up in the street!
I won't be able to do another recap until Friday. Have class Wednesday and a book group Thursday.
when Radamés was cutting short Lili's celebration in the hotel bar did he say this was a nice place, not a 'palenque', which also happens to be the name of rowdy bar in "Tierra de Reyes", Ha!
wow, terrific recap novelera!
Renato is reminding me of a 'Terminator', and Anas' character is like a sequel to Teresa Mendoza, and I'm sure all the small people are in for the ride of a lifetime.
Amelia Quezada is no fluff,
I'm interesting in seeing more of Nat's kids.
Great recap, novelera! I'm especially grateful for the explanation of the final scene. I wasn't sure who those two people were (Nat's adult children), nor what they wanted, though I did catch the business about Anas being out on the street. Wouldn't Nat have made a will, especially given his peligroso profession? And wouldn't Anas have inherited a large chunk of his estate (assuming the police don't seize it first)?
I'm not sure whether Luciana bought Daytona's profession of friendship or whether she (Luciana) was just playing along? She sure didn't seem eager to smoke marijuana, though I fear that's exactly what's going to happen at the party.
I'm interested to see how things develop between Ferrara and the two detectives he's replaced.
[In a nutshell, this entire episode consists of: 1) the escape & final disposition of the hired gun, 2) spreading the news that Lucha has been shot, 3) Dan gets some "alone" time with her.
A new word for me: piruja = vulgar, mediocre, de mal gusto
EN EL HOSPITAL
Lucha's down; Dan is holding her saying "Don't die"; Sor Mili runs off yelling "Nancy" (the only other nurse in Mexico City); Marina looks glum as her prospects with Dan grow dim; "Rafa, itching to jump in, but unable to show his hand, turns to leave.
LA PRISION
Nuria (in disguise, LOL) visits Anselmo: "Good news, El Diablo lives!"
Anselmo: "Right, I'm really gonna believe you; you're in cahoots with that Liliana."
N: "Nope, Diablo's my new boss, and you're gettin outta here"
A: "You better not be fooling me, and how's that gonna happen, a good lawyer?" She assures him it's not a trap and to be ready for it; "and I kinda like you in that uniform" wink, wink, smug self-satisfied grin de Nuria.
BACK TO THE HOSPITAL
Blue-scrubbed orderlies & Nurse Nancy lift the limp Lucha onto a gurney. They rush her to the OR. "Rafa" spies the sicario out the window on top of the roof next door; he's off running. The bald, bearded, big-headed gunman calls in his report to Liliana who is lounging around her lair in a bright yellow bikini (she's planning to go for a swim?). Done deed, jefa! He starts packing up his gear. "Rafa" continues in hot pursuit to the accompaniment of tense chase music; he almost gets the guy, who is forced to drop his luggage, but the chase continues onto the next rooftop, and into the next scene and etc, etc.
This leaves Dan & Marina together; He is completely overcome with grief and anxiety and she, in her best professional manner, decides now is the moment to carp and whine at him to stop worrying so much about Lucia. She can't understand what's got him so upset. He confesses: "Lucia es el amor de me vida. Sorry if that hurts you" She grudgingly bites her lip, thrusting out her chin, saying "don't worry about it, right now what I feel doesn't matter" Damn straight, sister. Marina is perhaps the most insensitive, self-pitying & selfish person in this show!
Deyanira, sulking in the hallway about how she's lost Carlos now that Elena is working for him, is interrupted by Nurse Nancy with the bad news. We next see Elena leaning over Carlos' desk in a very professional, secretarial manner, explaining all the intricacies of his schedule, He's agog with gratitude for her efficiency, when...Deya burst in with the news...
["Rafa" continues to chase the sicario through the streets of the D.F.]
POLICE HQ
Pablo & Marisela, puzzling out the Columbian/Mexian drug connection, wonder where the heck Dan is; Pablo's phone rings, he sees who it is: "Hablando del rey de Roma". Dan unloads the whole story. They need to figure out who's behind this attempt on her life.
EL HOSPITAL
Chelo & Vicki are sharing some quality time with Adri & Abel, gushing about the babies-to-be. "No, we haven't picked a name yet," says Abel. Elena bursts in with the news! Caras de impactadas de todos. Carlos is preaching to have faith when the whole gang gathers. They exhort Carlos (I guess because of his MD credentials) to gown up and go see what's happening in the OR (quirofano). "What the heck are you doing here?" asks Dr. Mallorca (the only doctor in Mexico, who does everything from gynecology to surgery. It seems the only specialists in this show are the psychiatrists, what's up with that?) They are trying to stabilze her vital signs before they go in; bullet entered around the sternum and something about the trachea; the bullet exited the body. Uh-oh, the monitor takes a dip; out come the paddles; "Stand back" This OR is dark as a tomb, nobody can see a thing, and the docs are all standing around jawing about organ failure and stabilization and how she's going to have to be strong to recover from this, if at all. Yadda, yadda. What kind of an ER scene is this? Gonzalo advises Carlos to go tell the family that it's a bad situation and to tell the family to be ready for anything.
All the cops are over there (including the regular (not Dan's narco team) one who had that bad run-in with Dan many episodes ago (they are friends now). The big queston is: "Who would hate Lucia enough to want to kill her?" Some tedious scenes follow in which everybody swears their love for Lucy and their grief.
A BAR SOMEWHERE IN THE D.F.
The sicario still on the run, but walking, turns into a bar and sits down. He's pretty winded, and I'm sure, thirsty by now. The waitress sets him up, and we see "Rafa" enter behind him. The waitress is facing "Rafa". He pulls out his gun and gives her the nod to vamos. Baldy is unsuspecting, as "Rafa" makes his move. The next scenes with this guy, I will not describe in detail, as they involve a knife through the guy's hand, pinning him to the table as "Rafa" extracts Liliana's name as the author of this attempted murder. What happens next, we don't see, but do suspect (or at least I did, and was proven right by episode's end)
FARAON HOTEL LOUNGE
Lil, sporting her cabana wear, asks the bartender for a bottle of French champagne and to share the round with all the other fellas. She's in a celebratin' mood! And it doesn't take her long to get totally sh**-faced. Radames arrives and tells her not to behave in such a coarse manner in his fancy hotel. He uses the word "palenque" which I can't quite translate other than as the ancient Mayan city. Some dictionaries give a palisade or stockade, where horses are tied; a fortified retreat of fugitive slaves; or an arena for cockfighting.
He doesn't want her making a scene; she tries to get him to join her scene. She tries to shut him up in her drunken way: "Sh-sh-sh-sh, peace & love, join the party, I've been here all along, enjoying myself, no one can implicate me in anything. We're cleaning house, first El Diablo, now that bastarda of a media hermana; a toast to me for getting rid of all my enemies." She clinks 2 glasses, one in each hand. Liliana is so in her cups; Rad just grimaces and rubs his chin.
ROOF OF THE BUILDING NEXT DOOR TO HOSPITAL
Pablo & the regular cop (Alejandro?) discover the abandoned high-power rifle on the roof next door. They agree this is the weapon of a francotirador, a sniper. Maybe from the black market, but who? Pablo says they're working on figuring out who would have wanted Lucia Duran dead. The regular cop says, what makes you so sure she was the target? Pablo is convinced that bullet had Lucia's name on it.
EL HOSPITAL
Doc Mallorca comes out with the news that Lucha's alive, but they've had to induce coma in order to preserve bodily functions while she recovers from the injury (or whatever, this is so bogus especially since they have her some antique 19th century hospital room). Lotsa weeping. The family Duran decides to lie to Papa Ignoracio, so he won't die from the truth. Meanwhile, in Carlos' office, that Marina is griping about Dan's preoccupation with Lucia, that he won't give a thought to poor lil ol' her. I think Carlos can barely restrain himself from leaping across the desk and strangling her, but he tries calmly to explain Dan's obsession with Lucia (which is the main reason why they shouldn't end up together IMHO, because it's an obsession, not a relationship based on mutual understanding, trust & love).
Dan runs off the the 19th century room to moon over the comatose Lucia. He begs forgiveness for all the rotten things he's done & thought. SNOOZE (he's not good at tender, compassionate or sincere.)
Later that night, "Rafa" does pretty much the same, but with more style & vigor. I think I hear him promise he'll change his ways for her love. I adore Gab. Porras. [I apologise to viewerville for my blatant prejudices.] Later he confesses his deep feeelings to Sor Mili who brings up the issue of the kids and how Dan has gone over to break the news to them. "Rafa's" eyebrows work overtime.
DEYANIRA'S HOUSE
Dan's over there pleading guilt and begging forgiveness of Deyanira. The kids are brought in; they are hostile (and with good reason) They call him on all his bad deeds, including pretending he would be their dad and then arresting their mom. Dan does his best to apologise, butter up & persuade, but they're tough customers. All Roxi want to know is if he really loves her mom. Then he has to drop the bomb about the mom. The kids freak out and blame him. "Rafa" arrives and the kids run to his arms. Porras gives Dan his fiercest glare.
CASA DURAN
Fernanda is squawking about why everybody abandoned her to work the fonda by herself. They break the grave news and tell her to shut up. Of course, Fernanda always thinks only of herself. If Iggy finds out, it'll kill him, and without him, what'll I do? Ignoracio walks up, ever in the dark, "Pasa algo?" They lie, telling him Lucia is held up because of an emergency at the hospital. He thinks its a bus accident .
LILIANA'S LAIR AT HOTEL FARAON
Still in the yellow bikini, she toasts with Genaro bragging that Lucia Duran is dead. Well, almost dead, as good as dead. Just a matter of time. Genaro, ever the wet blanket, says, don't count your chickens yet. She says she was born to rule and nothing bad will happen, and if Lucia doesn't die tonight, well, she can just go over there and take care of thing right.
PRISION
Anslemo is handled roughly by a bunch of trasladores guards who shove him into a van.
HOSPITAL
Dan sits by the Lucia's bedside, pondering who could have hated Lucia enough to do her in. FLASHBACK to a catfight between Luc & Lil which he breaks up. Dan has a lightbulb moment. He calls Alejandro (the regular cop). Lil arrives at Nurse Nancy's desk inquiring about the patient. She thinks evil though bubbles.
HOTEL FARAON, LOBBY
Dan is talking to Alejandro. He's sure he knows who did it, but it's only a corazonada (hunch, suspicion—I had to look this up, even though I had a hunch what it meant). Alej says "You know we can't do anything based on a corazonada.
UPSTAIRS IN LILIANA'S LAIR
Nuria (back in her usual spandex) & Genaro. A courier arrives with a package. No signature required, but you'd better open it in a hurry because it's leaking. Well, yeah, there's a whole soggy corner dripping with blood. Yikes & yuck. The poor sicario's head has been delivered. Nur & Gen are pretty freaked out. They can't get a hold of Lil. Genaro explains that this sniper was top notch and if somebody did THIS to him, then they all better watch out, because that's a powerful enemy. A knock at the door; Nuria clomps over to the peephole in her 5-inchers: it's the police! Genaro pulls out his gun. Cut to next scene
THE ABANDONED WAREHOUSE
Anslemo's a free man! He's joking with the plaid-shirted henchmen. El Diablo approaches. Anselmo gives him a big bro hug. Diablo backs off saying, hey, not so sappy, what's the matter did you switch sides over there is the carcel? Anselmo grins widely, Diablo explains carefully, now get this. I'm not Olegario Marrero any more. I'm Rafael Montes, so don't slip up. OK, whatever you say, Rafael. They hug again to seal the deal. Big smiles all around.
HOSPITAL
In a locker room, Vicki opens the door to find her tia, Lilian all decked out in a regulation white nurse's uniform complete with starched cap. "What are you doing here dressed like this?" FIN DE CAPITULO!
Thanks, Novelera, for another terrific recap.
The police chief is named Montalban.
I've decided to call Alejandra Mario Esparza "Alejo", since that's what his wife calls him. I guess those really were Cubans, not Iggy's guys. Alejo is really caught in the middle of things. His wife Analia apparently is fully informed about his drug dealings.
So everyone has left the apartment complex tonight except Verónica, and those bad guys are outside. This doesn't look good.
Anas needs some more people on her team. I know Elias and Silvana are mad at her now, but could they eventually team up? Probably not. The actress who plays Silvana has been in lots of recent telenovelas, including playing Hilda in La Casa del Lado.
thank you so much for the wonderful recap lxv!
one definition for 'palenque' at google is 'hitching post' which fits the cowboy bar in "Tierra de Reyes" pretty well.
hmm, 'piruja' at google also means whore.
I thought Dan pretty much dropped the ball getting the shooter, who decided to hang around and chat with Lili on the phone, it was after they hauled Lucia away that Olegario saw him, and sometime later when Dan called Pablo to investigate.
Dan's pretty good at asking for forgiveness, (from unconscious people), the kids sure let him have it, nothing for you on father's day buddy.
and poor Adriana in the midst of her own drama, trapped in a giant bed for what another 8 months, is totally abandoned.
Olegario clearing out that bar with his pistol, I guess everyone just went next door for another drink, don't worry about the blood, we'll clean it up when you get done.
and Ignacio, I can see him walking into a burning building, "Pasa algo?", no, no, everything is fine.
not only the cops show up at Lili's lair, but it's Dan himself, ah lets see, inside we have Nuria, wanted for kidnapping, jail break, and Genaro, not wanted yet for Ceasar's death but for pretty much everything else, and a head-in-a-box, the only thing missing is Lili.
deb, thanks, you nailed those 2 definitions. Of course Radames doesn't consider his fine establishment a "hitching post" and as for piruja, I guess I was trying to be polite. And you took the words out of my mouth "Dan's pretty good at asking for forgiveness, (from unconscious people)"
Enough for me, I'll check in later. Gotta get to work. We survived the blizzard down here in the city, but I understand folks up in coastal New England took a bad hit.
GREAT RECAP!!!
Finally am caught back up.
So glad that Leandro and his daughter are finally coming to Miami. That's gonna kick the show up another notch (not that it needs it .. I'm really enjoying this series).
Been wondering when Nat's children were going to arrive and what part they would play. Interesting.
I kind-of liked the dynamics of the two detectives without the NYC cop ... I guess we will have to see how that plays out.
Can't wait for tonight's episode.
Telemundo web site is improving, a few hangups & still no captions, I have hope.
Has our top cop thought about putting a guard on Luchas room?
Have you ever seen lamps on tables next to the bed in a hospital?
they have finished filming.
http://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com.es/2015/01/duenos-del-paraiso-finaliza-grabaciones.html#more
Lucía is the most important in his life, but he just stood around helpless? At least Olegario went chasing after the sniper. But on the other hand, Daniel didn't do anything rash. So I guess that is progress.
“Rad just grimaces and rubs his chin.” At this point, Radamés should be concerned if he is next in Liliana's house cleaning.
El Diablo is back! I was growing tired of the Rafael persona. But how did he manage to cut a man's head off without getting blood on his clothes before going back to the hospital? The kiss on the lips of comatose Lucía was kinda creepy.
Why is Marina upset that she is not the center of attention right after Lucía is shot?
Anselmo está libre!! “What's the matter did you switch sides over there is the carcel? Anselmo grins widely...” I always knew Anselmo was in love with El Diablo. Do the drivers of the vans that transport prisoners wear hoods, so no one would know who they are?
I don't buy it – this profound love that Daniel and Lucia have for each other. They both must be masochists.
Thanks for the definition of piruja. I couldn't find it.
Anselmo's bf
I'm interested in the contrast of roles for Alberto Jiménez between this novela and La Reina del Sur.
In LRDS Alberto played Oleg, Teresa Mendoza's great ally and friend. He was also a bit in love with her, a love he only expressed when she was ready to disappear from sight, pregnant with Teo's baby.
In this novela, it seems he's going to be her Inspector Javert, obsessively pursuing her throughout the novela.
I am a new fan of Tony Dalton. Anyone see Matando Cabos? 2 more of my favorites, Raul Mendez (El señor de los cielos), Pedro Armendáriz & his son are in it.
I love Tony Dalton. He was very good in Sr Avila.
Novelera thank you so much for that recap. I liked the heading "A typical telenovela warehouse."
Thanks, Novelera. Terrific recap. There are so many fine details that I miss.
I’m not so sure about Anas’ bravado with Iggy, telling him she killed Nat. It made Iggy feel foolish and fear Quezada would believe her, but this could hurt her in the long run.
Ben, I’m liking the two Miami cops too. Wondering if Ferrara will realize he needs help from these locals.
I’m not getting what the Cuban narcos who beat up Alejo want him to do. Simply feel in pain and humiliated? I suppose in real life, they would’ve killed him.
Thanks so much Novelera. Great recap!
I'm not liking Nat's kids.
Poor Esparaza. First he's wounded. Now he is beaten up. What's next???
Both Conrado and Adan assured their wives that all would be fine. I don't think that will be the case.
I'm not liking Iggy staking out at Esparaza's place and the condos where Adan and Conrado live.
I totally agree with your comment regarding Marina; she was as annoying as Ivanna last night.
I think I’ve seen too many scenes where the unconscious/comatose patient hears what others are saying because I was thinking that Diablo gave himself away during his moment with Lucia in her hospital room. There was talk of how he’s been trying to change but circumstances are preventing him from doing so, as well as the typical Diablo promise to take care of her, etc. etc.
Why is Liliana aggressively hitting on Radames? He said he prefers his women tame but I’m still shocked he hasn’t given in.
I’m really curious about the Vicky/Liliana scene for tonight. Vicky is usually smart enough to sense when something is wrong, so I’m wondering if Liliana will abandon her plans otherwise Vicky can place her there if something else happens. Good point, LXV, about the lack of police protection since she was clearly targeted. Despite his real desire for forgiveness I’m still not a fan of the Dan/Lucia duo.
Spanish student
Interesting point, novelera, about the rather different roles Alberto Jiménez plays here and in La Reina del Sur. I confess that I was half in love with him myself in LRDS. Well, maybe more than half. :-) So much so that I'm finding my allegiance to be totally with him in Dueños rather than with Anas. And not because he's on the side of Law and Order. Just because :-). Perhaps my feelings will change once I recognize that he's not my beloved Oleg Yasikov. But perhaps not.
Sara, I'm just now watching Sr. Avila. They're showing it on HBO Latino. I guess it originally was shown in 2013. Yes, Tony is wonderful in this. It's definitely a very dark show. I've seen two episodes so far, and another will hit my DVR this Friday. I think you were the one who mentioned it to me and sparked my interest. Thanks!
¡MUY buena!: We got through!
Dearest LXV, thank you so very much for your kind concern! It seems we got your snow! I am very glad for you New Yorkers that (it seems, is it true?) it did not hit as hard as had been predicted! I hope you are well and warm!
You, too, Clara! and all who went through it!
I will forever insist we just had a January hurricane here. Whew, we made it.
I have not read, yet, but thank you so for your recap! I will recap tonight, wednesday, and I am near certain I can thursday night, too.
I did not get to watch, so your recap is all the more cherished!!
Thank you, again.
Aficionada
I'm so happy to hear that you're OK! Can you get out
and about? I don't have a lot of experience with snow,
so I'm not completely sure what you're going through.
It sounds kind of cozy, but then I don't have to do the
shoveling and endure other inconveniences.
I just heard on the news that parts of Massachusetts
got 36 inches. Wow! Someone mentioned that you
might be from there.
Hope you're back to normal soon.

Part 1
Hospital locker room
Vicky stumbles in on Liliana in the locker room dressed as a nurse. (Why is Vicky wondering into the locker room?) Liliana claims that she is concerned and wants to see her sister to ask for her forgiveness. Vicky is not buying it and blocks Liliana's exit. Vicky threatens to scream and let everyone know. Liliana slaps her – not the baby – and tells her she asked for it. Vicky punches her in the face. Nurse Nancy and other nondescript nurse hear them arguing. The gig is up. Sor Milagro joins in and bans Liliana from seeing Lucía.
Lilianas hotel room/apartment
Daniel and Alejandro knocking at the door. Daniel wants to break the door down. Alejandro says they need a warrant. Inside Genaro is practically suffocating Nuria to keep her quiet. Genaro realizes that the gift of the severed head is more important than the police, because it is a mark of El Diablo. Nuria feigns ignorance.
Abandoned warehouse
El Diablo and Anselmo making up for lost time. Olegario explains why he had to rescue Anselmo. He wants Anselmo to be the face of his organization while he lives a respectable life with Lucía. Olegario strokes Anselmo's ego, so he likes the idea.
Hospital
Abel asks Dr Mallorca about Lucía's condition. The two of them go to see her. Abel asks Lucía to promise him that she will not die – as if she could hear him. After praising Lucía for her great qualities, Abel and Mallorca hug, a somewhat prolonged hug, with some back rubbing.
Daniel's apartment?
Daniel tells Alejandro he can't sleep as long as Lucía is dying. He receives a call from Pablo notifying him that Anselmo escaped in the same way El Diablo organized Lucía's escape. They wonder who could have done it.
Hotel lobby
Liliana receives a call from Genaro, warning her to be careful because the police suspect her. Alejandro approaches her to question her about the attempt on Lucía's life.
-Anselmo's bf
(Recapping is time consuming. I'm not sure I'm going to make it thru to the end!)
Part 2
Hotel lobby
Liliana denies having anything to do with the attempt on Lucia's life. After all, don't you know she's my sister? How could you think such a thing. Alejandro says no one is accusing her, just a routine investigation. He suggests she ice that bruise on her face. She claims it is nothing. No one hit her.
Alejandro interrogates Lilliana about her relationship with Lucia. She tries to pretend that she's concerned, but says that if he wants to question her about the attempt on Lucia, she was in the hotel all afternoon. He says they will verify that and again tells her to ice the bruise. He leaves. Liliana calls him policía metiche. Is he next on her list?
Daniel's office
Sor Milagros tells him by phone that Lucia's condition is the same. All they can do is pray. Pablo enters and tells him they have many more cases to deal with, he can't spend his time obsessing over who tried to kill Lucia.
Abandoned warehouse
Anselmo and Olegario continue to catch up. Olegario admits a tiny bit of remorse for killing his brother. But for him to return, Rafael had to die. Olegario continues to stroke Anselmo's ego. Anselmo now thinks he can run the business.
Police station
In a meeting of all the officers, Daniel tells them that Anselmo escaped in the same way that Lucia was taken. Pablo does not think Anselmo is smart enough to have planned and pulled it off. Someone rescued Anselmo, but why?
Liliana's hotel room
Liliana knows that head came from El Diablo. She is scared.

Part 3
Liliana's hotel room
Liliana is sure this severed head is Olegario's work, warning her that she is intruding on his territory. Genaro reminds her that El Diablo is dead. She knows Rafael is really El Diablo. Nuria bites her lip. Genaro continues to insist that El Diablo is dead. Nuria affirms that Rafael is a completely different person from El Diablo. But Liliana knows that the only person who would care that she tried to kill Lucia is El Diablo. That's why she has this head in her hotel room.
Liliana tells Nuria to get rid of the head. Nuria tells Genaro to do it. Genaro questions how he would do it without being seen. Liliana suggests putting it in the freezer.
Abandoned warehouse
Olegario instructs Anselmo to confidently call El Samario to tell him to stop working with Liliana. He is now running things. Anselmo feels like a big shot. He has his first assignment to meet with El Samario. Nuria calls Olegario to warn him that Liliana suspects him. He tells her he wants Liliana to know it is him.
Police station
The meeting continues. They are going to be watching El Samario, again, to find out who he's working with. After the meeting, Alejandro tells Daniel that Liliana had an alibi. She was drunk and caused a scandal in the hotel. Daniel is still sure Liliana hired the hit-man. Alejandro has identified the hit-man, but they can't find him to interrogate him.
Durans' restaurant
Vicky is telling her mother what happened in the hospital. They know Liliana must be up to something bad. Fernanda overhears and comes to Liliana's defense. Consuelo tells Fernada, that as much as it hurts they have to accept that Liliana is not a good person. Vicky tells her that Liliana slapped her without regard for her baby. Fernanda suggests that Vicky might have been asking for it.
Octavio enters wondering why Vicky was not at school. She tells him what happened at the hospital. She admits she doesn't know if Liliana wanted to kill Lucia, but it was very strange. Octavio agrees.
Ignacio's room
Fernanda asks Ignacio for permission to go out. She doesn't say where.
Nacho's school
Radamés is picking up Nacho from school, but Nacho tells him he can't go with him. A lady from the school informs him that he is not allowed to take Nacho. Radamés tries to assert his rights as the father, but she is not having it. She grabs Nacho. Radamés demands to speak with the director.
Radamés yells at the director about his paternity and his influence and the money that he pays to the school. She just keeps telling him to lower his voice. The usually ineffective lawyer, Camilla, shows up with Helena and to police officers to issue a restraining order. Radamés storms out almost knocking over Helena.
Radamés' office
The lawyer advises him to calm down because with his history of violence, he might only be allowed to see Nacho with someone else present. Radamés doesn’t understand this.

Part 4
Liliana's hotel room
Fernanda shows up, and asks Genaro and Nuria to leave so she can speak with her daughter alone. She confronts Liliana aabout what happened at the hospital. Liliana said she went to see if her worst nightmare was indeed dying. Fernanda demands that Liliana swear she wasn't the one who ordered that they kill Lucia. Liliana doesn't understand why Fernanda is concerned about Lucia. And Fernanda doesn't understand why Liliana would want to hurt Lucia and in turn hurt her father. Liliana swears she's innocent. Fernanda doesn't believer her. Liliana reminds her that she is her best work. Fernanda leaves without saying another word.
Police station
They are preparing for the night's operation. Leon enters wearing a little black dress. All the guys to crazy. This upsets Rodriquez who tries to cover her up with a coat. Daniel enters authoritatively and demands that everyone concentrate on the night's operation. The team leaves and Octavio enters. He wants to tell Daniel about what happened at the hospital. He tells him that Liliana intended to kill Lucia. Daniel tells Pablo to guard the hospital room, even though it is not their case.

and Thank you for your well-wishes for the storm!
Variopinta: "Brrr, we are getting down to 52% tonight. I might have to close the windows." [hear crying]
Thank you for your warmth wish, amiga!
Jean, just saw you are in the storm, too. I hope you are safe and warm, too!
Thank you, too, Sara and doris!
lxv: "My only comment about the show is that it appears anvils are getting poised to fall and there's been not a peep from the network about how much longer we have to go." Yes! Very strange having NO sign of a following t'novela, ah?
novelera: Had to give up Dueños (necessary rule i only get hooked on one tn at a time), but I enjoy your recaps very much, thank you - and thanks to commenters on it, too! It's like reading it as a novela.
lxv: I still haven't gotten to read your wonderful detailed recap, more on that later, but some things
I am so glad you survived!
It was "a bad hit," but we were fortunate, compared, thanks so for concern!
Skimming your recap: I think will help me to recall and describe scenes by location as you do. Yes!
Variopinta: "Telemundo web site is improving …. I have hope." Great! Was better for me, too! Maybe they reading here - hey, TM, keep it up, captions please!
lamps, tables, hospital …? Now that you mention it, no; usually attached to the wall, yes?
* Just came online and got these precious messages, thank you so very much, lxv, AnonGringa!
lxv, I was here in the '78 blizzard too!!! Think, cross country skis! This, much less severe most places (not the coast), much better preparedness as you said. AND - mixed blessing - it was, and has stayed, so extremely cold the snow is light fluff, no trees breaking under it, and can be swept off things.
now, to read your recap, at last. :D
And yours, too, Anselmo's bf! Thank you for that!
Shall I recap tonight's - wednesday - capitulo?

Part 5
Liliana's hotel room
Liliana quietly leaves and tells Nuria to be quiet. Nuria follows her to see what she's up to. Daniel shows up with his gun drawn and enters Liliana's room, which was left open by Nuria. He sees the blood on the table.
Duran's home
Ignacio doesn't want to eat. Consuelo continues to lie to him about why Lucia has not come by the house. Abel and Dr. Mallorca enter. They tell him that Lucia is very frail. No more hiding the truth.
Nightclub
Maricela approaches and flirts with El Samario. Outside in a van, Rodriguez is complaining that Maricela shouldn’t have to do this. Pablo reminds him that she is a well trained police officer. But Rodriguez know of many officer that got killed doing this. Maricela and El Samario get ready to go to a hotel room to have some fun, when Anselmo walks in. He recognizes Maricela. Pablo aborts the mission while Rodriguez rushes to rescue her. Hmm... she might not survive the night.
Rafael's room
El Diablo is about to enter, but Nuria lets him know that Liliana is inside waiting for him. He enters, sets his phone to record everything. Liliana pulls a gun and says she knows he is El Diablo.
The End
-Anselmo's bf
Someone asked what the Cubans wanted to do with Alejo. I think they were warning him to stay out of their territory. The main Cuban guy is Ronnie Zamora, and last night, Mauricio was telling Salvador Ferrara (Sal) about Zamora's drug deals, and they were even observing him, I think.
That was a funny scene where Luciana, high on pot, runs into her Dad, sitting in a car with drug dealers (although she didn't realize it). The next day, Chad blabbed that Lu's Dad's car reeked of pot. Lu is mad at Chad, defends her father, Adán. And Lu and Adán are now sort of secret allies, Adán winking at Lu when Verónica metes out the lastest punishment.
It's funny, but almost everyone in the show (except Adán) thinks that they're the "good guys". Leandro told Amelia that, Anas sort of thinks she has honor because her coke is pure, Silvana and Elias think they're deserving of everything, Chad, Daytona, everyone thinks so highly of himself. But they're all TERRIBLE! Okay, not that terrible, but how come the most honest and upstanding character (Verónica) is the most boring?
Most schools and businesses are on a delay today, but we will be able to get out soon. There are some five foot snow drifts, because the winds got so strong. But because this snow is light and dry, because so cold, shoveling is much much easier!
Feeling fortunate!
Thank you, so!

Highlights
- Lu the fool gave into peer pressure and smoked weed Daytona and her posse gave her. Chad the cad looked on and did NOTHING to stop her. Bastard. He's not boyfriend material. Run Lu Run!
- Elias and Silvana don't like Anas. They want to take all of Nat's fortune from Anas.
- Gina the blabbermouth told Elias and Silvana that Anas killed Nat. Silvana cried. Elias told Silvana that they'll make Anas pay for this.
- Adan and Conrado were dealing drugs in Ocean Drive to a couple. The man wanted some pot and Conrado told him he'd get him some. The druggies told Cornado and Adan that their coke is the best and better than the porqueria the Cubans sell. All was going well with this job until the woman was creeped out by a face Adan supposedly made. The man wanted to know what Adan had said. Adan denied having said anything and said that the woman was most likely on a bad trip.
Side Note: At point in this scene, the man wanted to do the coke in the car and Adan told them to be careful with it because his station wagon is a family car. LOL
- Lu wasn't feeling well after doing the coke. Chad the cad was worried and escorted her out. Lu is upset with Chad because he tells her that he likes her and takes care of her (yeah right) and is with Daytona. He forces a kiss on her and she gets mad at him. She leaves and runs into Adan and Conrado and the couple getting out of the car. Lu asks her dad what she is doing there. Adan tells Lu that he was working. Adan takes a drugged out Lu home and he sort of senses that something is up with her but doesn't ask questions. Idiot. On the way home Lu sees a bag with the $$ and asks what is in there. Adan makes up some excuse.
- Vero realizes Lu has gone out without permissions. Iggy stops by and pretends to be looking for an apartment that is for rent. Really Iggy? That's the best you can come up with. Why would anyone be looking for an apartment for rent at night? When Vero tells Iggy she was sleeping he creeps her out and all of us viewers by asking her what she was dreaming off. Iggy leaves.
- Erica was a sucess in her debut. Sergio takes her out to celebrate and they return just as Adan and Lu pulled up at the condos.
- Adan notices Iggy and the other dude leaving the parking lot of the condo when he arrives with Lu.
- Vero who had been praying is in tears and is happy to see Lu. She tells Lu never to do this again. Lu goes into her room. Lu gets grounded for his and is not allowed to see Chad the cad.
- Elias and Silvana mistake Irene for a maid. They have a confrontation with Anas where Elias hints that he knows Anas killed Nat. Gina eavesdrop on this and interrupts before Elias can confrim that he knows Anas killed his father. Anas leaves with Gina and threatens to cut out her tounge so she won't blab to the vultures aka Elias and Silvana.
- Elias and Silvana search for some documents. They find the safe and Renato catches them. He tells the vultures that there ain't nothing in the safe. Renato had told Elias and Silvana that he works for Anas. Elias tells Renato that whatever is in the safe belongs to the Cardonas and not to Anas.
- Leandro and Paola are in the Bahamas. Paola thinks coming to Miami is una locura (madness) buy she will remain on her dad's side no matter what he decides to do. Leandro wants Paola to meet someone in Miami and have kids. Leandro gets mad with Paola when Paola mentions her brother Jose Carlos. Leandro doesn't want Paola to mention that worm Jose Carlos ever again.
- Anas meets up with Adan, Corando, and Alejo. Analia is there also. They talk about Ronnie Zamora - the man who attacked Alejo. Anas will counterattack on Ronnie. Anas gets mad when she finds out Conrado is selling weed. Conrado expains he is selling it to make a customer happy. Anas tells Conrado that he has to make her partner happy. Anas wants this to be the last Conrado sells weed.
- Riuelme gives Ferrera info on Ronnie Zamora. He's the nephew of the biggest weed narco in Miami. No drug is sold with Ronnie knowing.
- At the police station, Ferrera thanks Riquleme. Benavides gets mad at Riquleme when Riquleme tells him that he gave Ferrera all the info on Ronnie. Riquelme is able to calm him down. Riquelme mentions something about Benavides being right and not bringing up suspscion.
- Anas, Gina, and Olemdo take a look at the warehouse where they will work. The coke coming in from Colombia has been confirmed.
- Vero tells Adan about Iggy's visit. Adan tells Conrado and the two agree to be more careful.
- Chad the cad told Dayton and her posee that Adan's car smelled of coke. Daytona asks Lu if her dad smokes weed. Lu gets mad at Chad. She doesn't want him to come near her. It hurts her to see him with Daytona. She doesn't want Chad to talk bad about her dad ever again.
- Anas, Olmedo, and Gina arrive home. They realize its the police. Benavides is spying on the mansion. Ferrera catches Benavides spying.
wow, excellent recap -Anselmo's bf,
what a wonderful treat!
Yay Vicky! nice punch!
so funny at Lili's lair:
Genaro leaves with the leaky head-in-a-box but now in a plastic bag, trying to look innocent (forget that he is a wanted man) and comes out of the elevator in the hotel lobby, (no one can see me, right?) just after Dan got on another elevator.
Lili, (did she have Genaro get her a hotel master key), leaves to get the drop on Diablo in his hotel room, is followed by Nuria, who doesn't shut the door, and arrives at Olegario's door in time to warn him before he goes in.
Dan arrives at Lili's lair with door open (he doesn't need a search warrant now, right?) and enters, but no one is there, his sharp eyes spot the drips of blood.
all at the 5 star hotel most favored by narcos, murderers, and wife beaters.
Thanks for the news about New England, Aficionada. What town are you in? I grew up in Hopkinton, then Wellesley, then Jamaica Plain and I go to Rhode Island a lot, so I know from snow!
I knew something was missing from the videos I got form Youtube, but Telemundo has my location blocked, so I couldn't go to the source.
I did not see Genaro taking the box out of the room, getting off the elevator, etc. Thanks for that deb.

Nice recap, Mauricio! I especially like Chad the cad.
At the end, when the cops were watching Anas, it seemed like Saul was sort of shy, not wanting to show himself, but Ferrara stood right up and looked Anas in the eye. He's tough (so is she).
always love your comments Hombre!
and wow, thanks so much Mauricio for the highlights!
hmm, "Chad the cad" (good one Mauricio), takes Lula, (as Daytona calls her) to the party at the lava lamp bar, but doesn't smoke because he has a big game the next day, but smooches with Daytona as Lula sits alone and watches.
I can see that, Adan being a real downer for someone on drugs.
for security, doesn't Anas want Alejo/Analía to move, but they have already moved so many times they say no.
and it seems Anas has left Renato home so he can watch over the kids, while she takes Gina with her, and appears to be working her into the business, more clever moves by Anas.
Iggy has a way of creeping people out, and it doesn't take much work with Veronica, but I loved the other night when Anas turned the tables on him by laughing in his face at his lie that he killed Nat, and by telling him that it was her, this probably makes her the most dangerous person he has ever met.
it's really intriguing, this mix of people and how they are all coming together.
some real life stuff to go with our fictional story is, Carlos Lehder, one of Pablo Escobar's main guys, he bought some land in the Bahamas and either bought out, scared off, or killed everyone else on the island, then,
"From 1978 through 1982, the island was the Caribbean's main drug smuggling hub and a tropical hideaway and playground for Lehder and associates. They flew cocaine in from Colombia by jet and then reloaded it into the small aircraft that then distributed it to locations in Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas. Lehder was believed to receive 1 kilo on every 4 that was transported through Norman's Cay."

Thanks so much Anselmo's bf! You must have gotten a burst of recapper's energy from Anselmo's escape, even if the police think your guy is not very smart
.
LXV, Aficionada, everybody thanks for the shout-outs and storm concern. With so much extreme weather, everyone [I'm looking at you DeBlasio] has gotten very jumpy and prone to over-react.
Anon gringa, can be "cozy" if sufficiently prepared as Aficionada said, but can be really scary. Too far off topic to share my tales of winter woe.
Aficionada, good luck with the dig out! Happy you feel fortunate.
Back to our show, worried for Nuria and Marisela. We may not have to pair them off after all?
Besides his mastery of all medical specialties, I'm liking Doc Mallorca's no-nonsense bedside manner.
And at the bedside, poor Lucha, bad enough to be in a coma, but then such a parade of imbeciles to be endured.
Spanish student, I hope you are right and Lucha is paying attention.
Go, Vicki!
Clara
Thanks so much for the recap, Mauricio. And thanks also to Hombre for your, as always, insightful comments.
I had the impression that the two druggies who got into Adán's car just jumped in there without either Adán or Conrado necessarily wanting them. I didn't think they were there to actually deal. Wasn't the plan to do that in clubs? As is their pattern, Conrado underestimates the danger of what they're doing, while Adán is very, very cautious. I kept saying to my TV: Kick those bums out of the back of your car and get out of there!
Boy, that Iggy is SO scary. I thought for sure he was going to rape Vero. I don't think Adán really twigged that the guy who showed up was a danger.
Yep, Chad the Cad it is. If the writers plan for he and Lu to be an item, they sure have written him as a total jerk (even if he does have the MOST gorgeous eyes).
I think Anas should have done some damage control besides threatening Gina with tongue removal. I was glad she knew exactly whose fault it was. But she should have discredited Gina in some way as being a crazy, disaffected mistress who would say anything because she'd been cast aside.
Ferrara is definitely going to cut Saúl a new one for letting Anas catch sight of him, something he was expressly forbidden to do. I'm not liking Saúl's behavior right now. He's petulant and territorial and can't see that Ferrara is the better choice to run the investigation.
Mauricio told Ferrara that Ronnie Zamora was famously vicious toward any competition. I kind of enjoyed the bit of Cuban salsa they played, showing Ronnie dancing. It sounded a bit like the guys from the Buena Vista Social Club movie. I have that CD and listen to it quite a bit.
Anselmo's bf, great job with yesterday's recap. I put the mute on last night expecting to rewind it later i but didn't have the chance. Only saw a few muted scenes (Vicky slapping Liliana, Octavio filling in Daniel, and the last one with the 2 demons). Will catch up tonight.
Marisela has really grown on me so I'm hoping she survives. Ditto for Evaristo. I've been thinking for a while that something bad will have to happen to him to finally lead Adri back to him. No more playing house with Abel, she needs a real relationship with Evaristo now more than ever. Hopefully he'll survive whatever happens in the strip club.
Clara, yes, Go Vicki! Didn't they say in the beginning that Vicki was very much like her Tia Lucia?
spanish student
Thank you for the recap, Mauricio.
Would never have known that Ignacio attempted to say Good Evening in English without the subtitles of "Buenas Noches ..." HAHAHAHA
"Burn In Hell, Jamie Lee Sullivan." ... Lulz .. I really 'got a kick' out of Erica's Accent in that scene... As a person attempting to learn Spanish, I love hearing the actors struggle with accents ... It reminds me that its ok to struggle with learning another language ... Just keep trying and have fun while doing it ... Which I definitely am. :)
I don't care for Chad's character. Such a wimp! However, I can't wait for Leandro and his daughter to finally arrive in Miami.
A cup of coffee, Dueños, and Caray recaps & comments make for a wonderful afternoon. Thanks guys! Can't wait for tomorrow.
Thanks, Ben, for reminding me of Ximena Duque's valiant effort to pronounce "Sullivan". They also had Adán working for Sullevan Plastics (misspelling of Sullivan?) and everyone struggled saying that one. Spanish speakers usually end up saying Sooleyvan. But Ximena's "Burn in hell" was first-rate.
Thanks for the highlights, Mauricio. Loved your comments Hombre. Thanks for sharing the info about Carlos Lehder, deb. Interesting stuff (and now I can continue to tell myself that I am NOT addicted to TNs, but I am enhancing my knowledge.)
novelera- I really agree with you about Gina. I really don't like her. She's all about herself. Too bad she makes all the wrong moves. She really doesn't know how to play with the big boys does she?
Of course, I really wish Anas would just get rid of her (yes, I'm bloodthirsty.) Gina clearly is not paying attention to any of the threats. If Anas is not going to get rid of her, then discrediting Gina is the best thing.
Clara & spanish student, I just wondered what it is like to recap a show. And since it seemed like no one would have the time today, I gave it a shot. I definitely can't do it every day. Although... recapping in Spanish would be a great exercise. Naw, I would never make it to the end of part 1.
-Anselmo's bf
Anselmo's bf, you did a great job. I tried it a few months ago for either Los Mis or En Otra Piel. That's when I realized that many of you have a gift for writing and understand much more when it comes to painting a scene (especially when the scene was uneventful). I'm not a writer so I'm better with comments.
spanish student
Duenos
Chad the cad maybe, but he sure is cute. He was kind to Lu in the beginning, but maybe ulterior motives, like a jock, conquer them all, but I don't think so.
The actor playing Iggy said every scene between he & Kate ended with bruises, I can see why.
Los mis , yawn, get on with it, sick of Dan & Lucha. El Diablo is the highlight right now. Luchas hair continues to grow several inches per capitulo.
Anselmo's bf, I forgot to mention that I agree about the recapping in Spanish. It would be a struggle for me too...heavy reliance on a dictionary and translator (often not helpful). I've always wondered why Telemundo doesn't put at least a paragraph (synopsis) of each episode on their website like Univision and Televisa.
spanish student
The recapper for Amor Real did scene by scene, almost word for word
I am studying your outstanding techniques right now :D I already made a list of scenes, from your recaps, to be ready :D
Much to comment and reply, later; for now posting to let you know that, unless someone is already planning to do it, I will gladly recap tonight. No need reply if not possible - I will presume and do so.
I can also tomorrow, thursday night, or let me know if you would prefer change that.

Ditto to spanish student, Anselmo's bf, you did a great job! Gracias for stepping up, and making it all the way to the end of the capitulo.
Yes spanish student, I don't remember that being said, but Vicki shares Lucha's feisty quality, doesn't she.
LXV, hmmm, I much doubt your Spanish is "so bad!" And you are a very clever writer. Vocabulary, yesterday we learned "piruja" and "palenque" [thanks too, deb] but overall, recaps in English, okay?
So now that the crackerjack police team have a photo of the sicario/hitman, will they match it up to the head in the
bloody box Genaro is carrying around?
Clara
Mauricio, I think you're right about Chad the Cad. It's almost as if the writers can't make up their minds whether he's a good guy or a cad.
Thanks to Anselmo's bf, Clara, and LXV for your comments. We agree that writing recaps in English is challenging enough. Thanks Variopinta for the info on Telenovela World. Looks like they're doing a weekly recap in spanish for Los Mis. Aficionada, looking forward to your recap. Just finished the last 2 episodes and i still cant believe we're not near the end.
Spanish student
Well, all my worldly goods for a speech recognizing word processor, actually. Then I could just rattle it off as I watch it, and you would get so much fuller scenes! And this episode's scenes were great! As you said, LXV, "anvils are getting poised to fall" and some big ones fell last night.
So, here is what I am going to do. Instead of holding this until I can see it again online this afternoon - which I will do so I can just watch it for myself (kind of a reverse of what you describe doing, LXV) - I am going to post what I managed to get in my notes, ask you all to correct and/or fill in, then fill in any I get clearer later. I am cursed with an inability to listen, watch and write at the same time! A whole new appreciation for all you excellent recappers!!
Los Miserables, Wednesday, Capitulo 80
Part One
Olegario/Rafael's Hotel Room
As Anselmo's bf's outstanding recap yesterday closes: "Rafael's room. El Diablo is about to enter, but Nuria lets him know that Liliana is inside waiting for him. He enters, sets his phone to record everything. Liliana pulls a gun and says she knows he is El Diablo."
"Yo sé quién eres," Liliana says, holding the gun on Olegario. She has figured out who he is because he sent them the head of el sicario, the hitman she hired to murder Lucia, and who else WOULD/COULD it have been who sent it? So he is recording her calling him Olegario, and threatening to kill him. He does a very good Rafael act for her. "I don't believe you, absolutely not," she says, but he sticks with it so well that she almost backs down a couple of times, seeming to believe him.
Liliana's Lair (I like that, LXV, thank you)
Meanwhile, remember Daniel has gone into Lily's room, apartment?, because Nuria, following Lily, has left the door open - no search warrant needed. Dan sees blood drops on the table, then looks in the refrigerator where there seems to be more blood (looks like it to me). Dan immediately calls for a forensics team, but - was that Pablo or Alejandro he talked to? - he is told there is an emergency at the strip club, Marisela is in trouble.
That Club (name?)
We see the cops around the club, and Pablo is slowly going in with his gun drawn. Is Anselmo still there, is he the one holding the gun on Marisela? He tells Pablo to back down or he will kill Marisela, but Pablo doesn't, and so distracts the man while swat-squad types move in behind and surround him. He releases Marisela as he spins around with his gun up ready to fire, so the cops shoot him. I believe they killed him, but didn't see it clearly.
Faraon Hotel Lobby
Daniel spots Genaro, shouts his name, Genaro runs, Dan follows.
Back in Oleg/Raf's Room
(I am missing much of the dialog here. Anyone fill in? Something about his Santa Madre??)
Through Deserted Areas of the Hotel
Daniel chases, Genaro runs, gets away into a parking garage, scares some people away from their running car, jumps in and drives away with Dan shooting at the car as it gets away. (I thought he got a good shot into the side of the car, no?)
"Rafa"'s Room
"Rafa" falls on his knees, pleading, "I don't want to die!" She backs away again, and he thanks her, "Gracias por otro favor." But his saying that brings a memory back to Lily, of his saying that to her before as Olegario - I do not remember that; anyone? - so she raises the gun back up.
Outdoors
Genaro is trying to call Lily, but no answer.
"Rafa"'s
"Evidently you are NOT Olegario." This time the phone rings, she answers it and runs out. Olegario breaks into laughter.

Part Two
Hospital
Ignacio is with Lucha, sitting down leaning over her bed. He is talking to her about when she was "Mi Chiquita."
Duran Home
Lucha's sibs and Vicky are there when Fernanda about falls in the front door, obviously half out of her mind - half more, I guess that would be, she has been in such fierce denial all along. Remember, she has been to see Lily, and she really knows that Lily is evil and is the one who tried to have Lucha killed. Says something about her errors. Asks where their Papa is. They say they don't know??
Hospital
Ignacio is telling about Lucia as a baby in his arms, but he is also praying. Says "you have paid enough for my errors."
Liliana's Lair
Nuria is there, tries talking to Lily, who just orders her to "Bring me whiskey." She does,
Hospital
Ignacio to Lucha, "You are going to be okay." I presume he means the next to say he will stay near, with, Lucha, "My other children do not need me." He leaves her room, sees Abel and Dr. Mallorca, says Lucha has to rest. He and Abel go in to see Adriana, Ignacio talking all about their "chamaco o chamaca," child, and how there will be football and a bicycle …. Abel and Adriana are visibly uncomfortable - secrets, and all, we know. Abel tells his father that Adriana must not get too emotional. Dr. Mallorca is there, gets a call to an emergency, leaves.
We see a patient rolling by on a gurney; the doctor looks down at a card he is holding. It is an organ donor card. And we know just who really badly needs a vital organ.
Police HQ
Daniel and Carlos talking, Daniel pondering who killed his brother Cesar. Does he wonder if Genaro did? Or Lily? Can anyone fill that in?
Hospital
Dr. Mallorca and Abel are talking, and the doctor tells Abel that they have a heart for Ignacio. Abel is clearly very grateful. Our sweet, always selfless doctor is clearly joyous to be able to tell him that.
Duran Home
Ignacio is back, Fernanda is crying and says she is not having a good day (it is all catching up with her fast, now, how wrong she has been, how horrifying her princesa Lily really is).
"Rafa"'s Room
Nuria and Oleg/Rafa are together, laughing. Missed all but that Oleg appears to be becoming … fond of Nuria. "Me encanta," - but I thought he might have said encanto (charm, spell). Then pulls her to him.

Part Three
Hospital
Sor Milagro is in with Lucia, talking to her, praying. Dan walks in. She starts talking to comfort him. He says something about how his stupidity caused Lucha's condition. She tells him he needs to have "fe," faith, believe Sor Amparo, have faith.
my notes say "you can't die." Dan to Lucha? Anyone?
Next morning, Dan is woken by a nurse offering him coffee. He hadn't known he'd fallen asleep. "I have to go." He stops, though, and asks the nurse if Lilian had been there. Yes. That their had been an incident with her niece. Dan looks kind of thoughtful/awakening.
Duran Home
The Durans minus Lucha and lily are having dinner together. They are talking about the heart transplant. Abel is telling Ignacio what the procedure will be. Vicky looks it up on her little gadget - I Phone? - and tells some info she found. Ignacio says, basically, "I don't like the idea of having someone else's heart, but when I look at my family … I want to have time with my grandkids [includes Roxy and Memin], and my grown kids, and with Fernanda [she is going to cry again at that, obviously touched and thankful] …. I want to do it" - the transplant.
Warehouse
Nuria shows up and the men there jump up to intercept her. She tells them everything's fine and they settle back down. Does she tell them "tratame como la reina de las gatas"? Treat me like the queen of the cats? I do not understand that. Anyone?
Police HQ
Oleg/Rafa shows up at the department, to talk to Dan. He asks Dan to listen, and plays some of his recording of Lily, telling him Lily threatened to kill him, mistaking him for his twin. Dan listens to more.
Deyanira's Home??
Helena asks Deyanira to take care of Nachito for her while all the hospital stuff is happening. The other kids will be there. She agrees. When Nacho sees Memin, he very nastily says, "What are YOU doing here? You're not in this family." Later, they are getting along fine. Nacho is getting influenced by his vicious, bigoted, father. But he changes back after a while.
Hospital
Ignacio with Dr. Mallorca. doctor tells details of the process. "I want to live," Ignacio says, "change this old heart for a new one."
Helena shows Nacho her office, and he is clearly very impressed and proud of her.
Police HQ
Lily in interrogation room, Dan questioning her. He plays her "Rafa"'s recording of her. We see smug Oleg, but I do not know if he was visible to Lily at that time. Lily admits that, yes, thinking he was Olegario, she wanted to kill him, that Olegarion mistreated her." "Olegario esta muerto," Dan says, bluntly.
Radames shows up in Helena's office as she shows Nacho. He blusters how no woman of his is going to be a receptionist. She tells him he has a head problem. Rad snaps, grabs her arms and starts to try to pull her out. Carlos stops his grabbing, angrily. Radames punches Carlos.
Police HQ
Dan offers a crazy deal (for someone who supposedly believes she is trying to kill "the love of my life," as he puts it) to Liliana: apologize to Rafael, she might not get charged. She apologizes. Rafa: "Don't charge her." Lily: "Thank you." Raf: "Don't come back after me." It is clear Lily does not believe him, but they seemed to have some kind of communication pass between them. Dan is not finished with Liliana.
Hospital
Roxy and Memin are in the chapel learning to pray, and Nacho went too. He is nice now.
Police HQ
Dan to Lily: "You know you tried to kill Lucia."
Liliana: "I am not a murderer."
End.

Great paragraph! :
Back to our show, worried for Nuria and Marisela. We may not have to pair them off after all?
Besides his mastery of all medical specialties, I'm liking Doc Mallorca's no-nonsense bedside manner.
And at the bedside, poor Lucha, bad enough to be in a coma, but then such a parade of imbeciles to be endured.
Go, Vicki! " YES, very well said, ALL of that!
Spanish student, thank you for your encouragement! I agree, how can it NOT be near the end??
and
"So now that the crackerjack police team have a photo of the sicario/hitman, will they match it up to the head in the
bloody box Genaro is carrying around?" LOL
Aficionada
terrific recap Aficionada!
it is so nice to relive the story through your eyes.
hmm let's see if I did any better on a few scenes,
in the bar scene, once Anselmo recognizes Marisela and spills the beans, he is out of there the back way, moments before the police come in the front, forcing the Colombiano to grab Marisela as a hostage and as they bicker, Evaristo and team make their way in behind him, surprise him, allowing Evaristo to shoot him. I believe he is still alive but maybe brain dead, and is the organ donor, what?
Anselmo later is at their warehouse hideout when Nuria stops by.
I was thinking Fernanda had a few drinks before she stumbled home, she was afraid Ignacio would see her but was told he was at the hospital visiting Lucia, and later when he comes home and she awakes, he can smell the booze, but she is still crushed with her realization of Lili and asks for a hug, which Ignacio kindly gives her.
after spilling the truth about Lucia I thought it was time to spill the truth about Adriana, but no, and Ignacio is really pouring it on about wanting to live to see his grandchild. (for some reason it cracks me up how Adriana is trapped in that bed while people come and go, just leaving her there to read magazines, while all this other drama is going on)
at Lili's lair I think Dan got a sample of the blood which he later gave to Pablo to be analyzed.
anyone have a guess as to what Genaro did with the head?
The webs of intrigue continue to grow. Sal is livid that Saúl allowed himself to be seen by Anas. Sal takes Saúl off the case. Saúl appeals to Montalban, who ends up giving him a 2 week suspension. Sal lays down the law to the rest of the cops, it's his way or the highway, this is SERIOUS.
Meanwhile, Anas tells Renato, we need a mole in the police department. (Could this end up being Saúl?) They're installed in their new warehouse, and have champagne to celebrate what she hopes to be the first of many celebrations. Adán is taken aback, he's never drunk this early in the morning.
Leandro also arrives in Miami, and gets set up in HIS new headquarters, which are much nicer than Anas', with a beach, a huge house, and crocodiles in the water! Iggy leers at Paola (I thought she was Amelia, but maybe this is her Miami name), and Leandro (who now goes by Mr. Roblero) gets right in Iggy's face, don't you touch my daughter!!!
Iggy also accidentally on purpose runs into Verónica in the supermarket, introducing himself as "David". He finds out her name, and also Lu's name. This does not look good.
Chad comes by the house to take Lu out, lies that it's his birthday, Vero says Lu is grounded, but Adán says no problem, as long as she's back by midnight. Lu leaves, Veró is mad at Adán. Lu and Chad go to the club, where the mean girls are already there, waiting for the bartender Cuervo to get the pot shipment. And here it is, as they point to Conrado and Adán, just entering! Lu is shocked, runs off. She later tells Chad that was her Dad, and he's being a little nicer (but still kissing Daytona), tells her to bring this up with her Dad. The next morning she tries, but doesn't quite get to talk to Adán about it beyond saying, I think I saw you last night.
Erica tells Adán not to reveal that she was out last night late. She says she got a part in a movie, but don't tell Conrado that, either. Conrado gets suspicious, so she tells him. He then gets mad, telling her "you'll never be an actress." This does not make Erica a happy camper, and she may look to greener pastures.
Silvana and Elias search Anas' office, find a safe, but don't really find anything they can use. They again threaten Anas, but she pulls her gun, and says don't mess with me!!! Besides, Silvana, she continues, YOU caused your father's death! You even caused this whole fricking drug war. You had the nerve to get involved with Leandro Quezada's brother, how did you think that would make Nat feel? No, says Silvana, he raped me. As if, replies Anas, you're just using that as a cover story, you know you slept with him willingly for a while. That's what caused Nat to kill his brother, and that's what caused this drug war that cost your father's life. So shut up!! (of course Anas leaves out the fact that she killed Nat).
The new shipment of drugs from Columbia is in any day now. Gina is lining it up, apparently working as Anas' assistant, no more being said about their mutual hate. And the cover operation, for now will be perfume, just as Verónica guessed, they're going to use that as their front. Adán wants to get into some other items which are always bought with cash, and Anas reminds him, no nightclubs or anything like that, which would bring the heat down on them.
Leandro has invited Anas to meet him. Don't go, says Renato. But she's going, telling Rentao she won't be a weak woman. She's going to be TWICE as tough as the guys who have been running things. She'll keep the appointment. Uh oh!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Mauricio. I like how you zip through the action. Yep, Lu should run from “Chad the cad.” He prefers Lu to Daytona, but he’s too weak to tell Daytona to lay off him and to stop Lu from feeling pressured to smoke weed.
Hombre, thanks for explaining about the Cubans.
Enjoying the comments. I learn something different from all angles.
I had the impression that the two druggies who got into Adán's car just jumped in there without either Adán or Conrado necessarily wanting them.
Novelera, ITA. I kept thinking Conrado and Adán are never going to make much money if they take the time to sit with each client as they use the product and then also have to talk them out off the resulting paranoia, as happened with the girl.
Wondering how much Ana’s step-kids will stick with Gina when they find out she’s got a bun in the oven that would have sibling rights along with them.
Conrado was harsh with Erica...but it's kind of true.
I am really glad I took the time to watch Cocaine Cowboys. I feel like it gave me some context and has helped me understand some of the action in this show.
Hombre, you are so good at this!
hmm, I think in the midst of Anas' tirade on how Silvana caused all this was included how Anas' life has been so totally turned upside down, did she look like she was on the verge of losing it, hard to tell.
did I get this right, when Chad the nice guy takes Lu out, and she asks why, did he say because Daytona told me to bring you, huh, who is this guy? and then he jumps up from Lu to get a kiss from Daytona when she and her girls arrive.
that was an interesting scene Erica taking Adan into her confidence, as Adan was there when she got home late last night before he could tell Conrado, but I don't think Adan even noticed.
and I guess Anas was right, Conrado should drop his marijuana business, as Daytona cozies up to Adan to get the scoop from Cuervo's (the bartender) drug connection. (does cuervo mean raven)
I think Leandro and company were staying at a classy place on the beach, but their new digs are out of the way, (I thought they only had alligators in Florida but I guess they have crocodiles too, CSI Miami might take an interest in this pond after our guys leave)
The whole dying horse thing was very weird.
First, Pablo and Irina or Andria, I forget which, don't want to tell Sofia that her horse is sick because she's pregnant? Aren't they putting the horse at risk? Why couldn't they call some other vet? Why couldn't Sofia, in the very early stages of pregnancy, not take care of her horse?
Arturo can diagnose the horse's problem better than Sofia, the vet;
The horse is supposedly in in pain and bleeding from the mouth but Arturo has time to ride off and get some herbs and cook them up to give the horse plus spout a lot of new-age nonsense;
They never show us the horse or even anything that looks like a stable. I guess it's not that easy to get a horse to appear to be sick.
Finally, Andrea disappears and then nobody thinks about the horse anymore. (I haven't seen last night's capitulo).
I suspect it was all a pretext to have Sofia run to Arturo's arms and for him to help her rub his herbs.
Thanks, Aficionada, for another great recap. I think Deb covered what I was going to add...Anselmo escaped and now the other narco is set to become Ignacio's organ donor. With at least 2 months left I can't help but wonder what will go wrong there. And the good Dr. is surely become chummy with the family. Guess they'll welcome him with open arms when Abel comes up. And so many are finally suspicious of Liliana...just wondering what her next move will be.
Spanish student
Aficionada, great recap! And no pressure! Anything you can post gets things going. Location headings working well!
Thanks for the reminder about Fernanda and Lil1. I was confused why Fern was so worked up.
Pretty lame that Dan couldn't catch lumbering Genaro.
Fill-ins, thanks deb.
I have some dim memories, but hesitate to say if not certain.
Deya's pal Neno wheeled Samario [Colombian drug guy] out of the club and provided info on his condition.
Funny part of Lili/Oleg scene, to convince her he talked about his [Rafa's] post-graduate education, including his focus in English literature! Thought he could be outed there with some English questions, but instead Lili asked him to name some authors. He named some Latino writers and that was enough to satisfy Lili. "okay, that's enough, you're not El Diablo" !!
Nuria as "queen of the gatas," confusing, "gata" can mean maid [derogatory], also can mean prostitute. Lily calls Nuria "gata." Maybe by referring to herself that way, Nuria is revelling in her status.
I thought it interesting that Memin thanked Elena for defending him from Nacho.
Well, I was puzzled by the possible heart transplant! Does this advance the plot? Is this related to the Adri's baby secret? Is there some significance to Ignacio maybe having the heart of a Colombian druglord? Made me think we are still far from ultimas semanas.
Clara
The Latino Film Festival here just announced some of its movies, including a horror flick with Kate del Castillo and Raul Mendez (Chacorta)! Not normally into horror, but I'm watching this one!

Just a few comments...
When Oleg initially broke into Rafael's home, he said he wanted to become more like Rafael, so perhaps he had this planned all along. He asked for a few poems and authors's names in order to impress Lucia. I laughed when Liliana stopped her interrogation after hearing the authors' names. Yet in the police station she continued with her accusations. Can't really blame her since he really is Diablo.
Re: Memin and Nacho, I think by correcting Nacho's behavior and explaining why Memin is part of the family (Lucha loves him as a son) Memin felt validated and thanked her for it. That was a nice gesture for a kid.
According to my subtitles, Elena told
Radames that something is wrong with his head. I was starting to wonder the same thing after he caused the scene yesterday about her new job. Lately he appears less confident and more bitter and unstable. Of course this could also be a result of the company he keeps (diablos y demonios).
spanish student
"rubbing his herbs" was steamy,
Sofia almost broke down and told Arturo the baby was his,
how long can these two go without sex?
say, why did Samuel and Flavio trade shirts, all sweaty and dirty?
Thanks so much, Hombre. Terrific recap!
I'll chime in with the disaffected Saúl maybe going to the bad side. And Salvador Ferrara was absolutely right. Saúl showing up at Anas' place totally put her on her guard and will probably make it harder for Sal to achieve his goal.
Chad is actually kind of a dim bulb. Daytona really did ask him to get Lu to come. But when Chad brings her, the mean girls launch into humiliating her about wearing a poncho. At least last night he finally twigged that Daytona is just a rotten person and said he didn't want to see her again.
I was shocked about Lu seeing her father delivering marijuana to the bartender. Didn't expect that. But they didn't really resolve anything in their conversation.
I can't really read Iggy that well. He obviously has a thing for Paola. Apparently it isn't reciprocated because she didn't hesitate to drop him in hot water by telling her father he'd followed her to see her in her bathing suit. But there's something about the way he looks at Vero that may mean he's not only interested in getting closer to aid Leandro.
I think Erica may possibly be a decent actress. Didn't other people on set besides Sergio the Lech compliment her work? Conrado just wants to control her. I don't think he has the slightest idea of whether she can act or not. He just made a BIG mistake telling her she can't act.
Leandro flat out told Anastasia he'd come to Florida to make her chupar gladiolo (eating the flowers on one's grave from the bottom side!). So she's being pretty foolhardy telling Renato that it's some other kind of meeting and that she thinks she can prevail by being macho.
Thanks Hombre for the recap.
"Wondering how much Ana’s step-kids will stick with Gina when they find out she’s got a bun in the oven that would have sibling rights along with them." - Good call, Niecie. I never thought of that.
I can't wait to see how Adan is going to explain his job to his daughter once she finally tells him she knows what he does for a living.
I love how this forum thinks Saul might flip and be the mole for Ana. I'm gonna cross my fingers for you guys that this happens.
Hombre, I love your recaps! They're wonderfully concise and yet thorough, and I enjoy the way you mix your thoughts in with what happened.
I too thought that perhaps Saúl might turn out to be the mole Anas wants, though Sara makes a good point about the possiblity of his being a double agent, and perhaps finding a way to upstage Sal.
I've got an uneasy feeling about those crocodiles. I'm not sure who it was (Chekov, perhaps?) who said that if there's a rifle mounted on the wall in Act I, it has to go off before the work is over. I fear that may apply to crocodiles as well. Arrgh.
Amen, Juanita, about the crocodiles. I'm pretty sure someone is going to be fed to them. That happened in Doña Bárbara.
Yes we have the American alligator & the American crocodile, plus invasive Nile monitor lizards, pythons, 8" African snails.
IRT Sofia and Arturo - Everything they do is steamy.
Dueños
Ooo! I didn't even think twice about the crocodiles, but now I almost want someone to become a snack!
Flavio got a bunch of crap on his shirt from the broken cement mixer. He and Sam switched before he went in search of some tool to fix the machine.
spanish student: "...that something is wrong with Radames' head." I've been thinking that for quite some time; something really wrong, like a brain tumor. Because his behavior is so labile & erratic and he sometimes holds his forehead as if it hurts.
Clara: Your final questions were spot on re: "Made me think we are still far from ultimas semanas."
deb: I'm guessing Genaro dumped the cabeza in the trash compacter. He seemed pretty familiar with that basement when he escaped from Dan. I figure he's been down there before. But why he carried that bloody box in a clear plastic bag through a lobby filled with people beggars belief.
I also thought they would start to spill the beans about Abel, but methinks this is going to be a slow unfolding. Poor Abel, he's going to have to get used to the idea himself. But that was a nice hug he got from the good doc. Some softening up going on.
I liked Fernanda in anguish scenes. That actress seems to have more range than they've given her in this role.
Aficionada: ¡Muchas gracias! A wonderful recap. Great descriptions of Ignacio & the new heart situation. I'm afraid I was a bit bored by all that, but you brought it to life. I'd love to see the old guy do more than shuffle along through the rest of this show. Do we know for sure whether the Colombiano is dead or not? It sounded as though the procedure could take months while the heart is kept frozen and they prepare the old gent for surgery.
All those Olegario/Rafael scenes boggle my mind, especially when the other characters challenge his version of who he is. As spanish student said "Yet in the police station she continued with her accusations. Can't really blame her since he really is Diablo."
How much is Lucia taking in in her comatose state? Will she wake up and say "I heard every word."
Good description of all the door openings & closings up in the big hotel. It felt a little like a Laurel & Hardy. At least Dan got to see the blood before maid service came by.
"I am cursed with an inability to listen, watch and write at the same time!" Well, I'm in the same club and if it weren't for the next day webcast on Telemundo internet, I'd be outta luck. Thank you again for your great work! I'm under a terrific deadline tonight but will watch. looking forward to recapping tomorrow (Friday) night's show. (And it's nice to know We've trod the same ground!)
didn't they induce the coma that Lucia is in, in order to allow her to heal, cause it seems like everyone is waiting for her to wake up.
Sara said:

That reason the story needed them to change shirts was because the bad guys, who had never seen Samuel, were told he was wearing a blue shirt. The shirt switch caused the bad guys to kidnap Flavio (and Irina) instead of Samuel.

It wasn't so I could see Flavio with his shirt off?
(Arturo seems to have his off a lot. Flavio needs to have a turn now.)
Thank you so much deb, Spanish student, Clara, LXV for your very kind and encouraging words! And thank you for adding such great details!! They add so much to what is really kind of a framework! What a difference you make!

Aficionada, excellent recap. Thanks. You filled in some missing pieces for me. Like, when Radames hit Carlos. That was completely missing from the video I watched!

Should I add a SPOILER ALERT? Are there people who watch this later than others? Like in different time zones? Is there a reason to wait to post something that could be a major spoiler?
Like this, which comes later in the show, but I just want to tell you all about as soon as possible:
OMG, THAT is why Oleg/Rafa had Nuria orchestrate the whatever agency taking the kids!! I couldn't figure it out. WHY would Nuria want Roxy back NOW?!
Could you imagine ANY way Olegario could convince Lucia to MARRY HIM?! i sure couldn't. But, there it is.
Marry me so you can have your kids back.
to be continued ....
Catching my breath, first.
Los Miserables, Thursday, Capitulo 81
Part One
Welcome to the antirecap, wherein I put what baffles me, and ask you to please fill in the gaps. Not unlike my regular recaps, except more so.
Because I missed so much! I was running in and out during the ads, jotting notes and running back out … Kind of comedic in a Lucille Ball kind of way. It is moving so fast now!! It has always amazed me how they weave these short, packed scenes together, like bursts of story. The more the story picks up, the more rapid-fire the scenes and switches. It really is a great feat of writing!
Just watching it leaves me kind of breathless. Trying to describe it reminds me of slam poetry!
Police HQ
The show opens with Lily and Dan still in the interrogation room. He lets her leave. Why? They are to follow Lily?
Hospital Chapel
The kids want to see Lucia. Ignacio says "Okay, let's go see her."
They do. Roxana says, "She looks like a princess."
As Lucia codes. Nurse runs in, doctor - other doctor - runs in.
Police HQ
They have identified the hitman. Love the file photo of just his head on the table! He is a narco, among other things I did not catch.
Outside
Evaristo sees Lily get into a cab, He does NOT see that it is driven by Anselmo. Lily goes to jump out, but is convinced by threat not to. Another man climbs in the back with her, then zaps her with a taser or something like.
Hospital
Panic ensues. Lucia is coding for some reason?
Out in hallway, Ignacio clutches at his heart.
Back in Lucha's room, Dr. Mallorca is looking at results of tests, ekg, etc. They are going to have to bring Lucha out of her coma.
Doctor is called out of the room. For Ignacio?
Deyanira's Home
Deya there with the kids. "Rafa" shows up. The kids so happy to see him! (NO!! SAVE YOURSELVES!!) He is all aglow, dreaming of how they could be such a happy family.
Talks with Deya some. She looks like she is liking him. He does that sweet Rafael so well when he needs to!
Hospital
In Lucia's room. Ignacio, his heart seeming to have calmed?: "Doctor, help her. She can't die."
Rafael's Room
Oleg with Anselmo. "Don't BELIEVE I am Rafael; I AM Rafael."
Nuria comes in. She and Anselmo are not hitting it off. Oleg tells Anselmo to respect Nuria. "She is useful."
Radames' Home
Genaro shows up at Rad's place. Rad not too happy about that. They are talking, something about Lily ruining business?
Octavio has come downstairs, overhears their angry talk. He hears Radames, does he say they have to kills Liliana? Octo looks horrified. (I'm thinking, Get out of there, Octavio!)
(Part two later, sorry!)

Rafael's Room
Nuria is in room with still bound blindfolded Lily. Tries to feed her a sandwich. "Nuria?" (Does she know her smell or something?) "Nuria help me. Answer me."
Deyanira's Home
Eugenio starts to be affectionate, then gets a little too aggressive. He stops, but Deya seems uncomfortable.
Someone is at the door. Child [pretend-]Protective people!!! Here for the kids. Mother is in hospital …. Deya tries to stay sweet. Smething about her being prostitute. "That was before!" Roxy and Memin watching, Eugenio signals them to stay back. No help. Agency people barge in to take them.

Rafael's Room
Nuria to the guys: "She [Lily] knew me."

Hospital
Lucha and Deyanira. ??
Duran Restaurant
Some guys drop a box off to Chelo. They leave. She opens the box, it is full of rats!! She dumps it over in her horror! Screaming ensues. Restaurant panic. I hope someone saw more of this. WHY?! WHO?!
And what is it about Octavio seeing it? Is this something from Radames?
Oy.
Hospital
Deya and Lucha. Crying. "Rafael will get the kids back."
But, Oleg/Raf says, "I'm sorry, but … "
Somewhere
Octavio with Vicky ….
Police HQ
Cops have video of who - Genaro? Radames? - with a box. The box with the head? The box with the rats?
Hospital
Nurse asks Deyanira and "Rafa" to leave Lucha's room. Oleg/Raf stays, talks to Lucha. Tells her, not threateningly, but as if he is trying to find only helpful solution, how if she marries him, she will be able to get her kids back.
omg.

Thank you very much, deb, for clearing that up about the Columbiano being the organ donor, a major piece. And about Fernanda drinking, which explains more about her appearance - something had seemed more unbalancing than shock alone would account for. I mean, she was stumbling!
"anyone have a guess as to what Genaro did with the head?" good question I wonder about too, thank you!
And thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words that mean a lot to me!
Thank you so much, too, Spanish student! So kind and encouraging!
You wrote, "With at least 2 months left I can't help but wonder what will go wrong there." Will you say how you know that? Is it by the tn formula of capitulos, or have you heard, read something about that? The question has come up here a few times because it keeps seeming as if it HAS to be coming to culminante. Yet puzzling with no word of a next telenovela.
And: "And the good Dr. is surely become chummy with the family. Guess they'll welcome him with open arms when Abel comes up." Great point! And what a good way to be introduce as a son's new [male] significant other, to have saved the lives of so many family members!
Intersting that Liliana's "next move" as you say, is as a victim. I watch thinking, "Is she getting any idea of 'how it feels' yet?"
"Yet in the police station [Liliana] she continued with her accusations. Can't really blame her since he really is Diablo." I have found it confusing. A few times I tried to figure out what either, or both could gain by her pretending not to know when they both know she does know. Their scene in the bedroom, her tied, made me wonder if they are playing out some kind of sociopathic fantasy, even. Working together, the whole time, or semi-consciously doing so?
About Radames, "Of course this could also be a result of the company he keeps (diablos y demonios)." He is showing signs of fear of them, and regret for his ever participating. He has shown he suspectings it has set in motion his losing everything. On top of real head injury and previous personality disorders.
We were also discussing whether he might have a cocaine addiction, as LXV was pondering too, recently.
Clara, how kind and inspirational! Thank you so! And what PERFECT timing to write those words to me tonight, "no pressure! Anything you can post gets things going," when I have just posted a "recap" that is more like a comprehension test for everyone else than a recap that might clarify for others! Kind kind kind!!
"Pretty lame that Dan couldn't catch lumbering Genaro," YES! I found that incredibly frustrating, too faked. It seemed, at times, that Erik Hayser not only ran slowly, but literally held himself back!
Great gap to fill in about Lily's questions about authors, thank you so much!
And "gata," yes! Nuria was definitely asserting her status by it.
Very interesting thoughts about the heart transplant's place as a plot device! Your ideas about its possible use are intriguing. Have to think about that while watching.

¡Muchas, muy muchas gracias, a ti! LXV For your cherished encouragement and guidance - and for your understanding: "Well, I'm in the same club …. " It is deeply encouraging to hear that having seen the recaps you have composed.
Thank you, too, for adding details that make so much more clear!
Radames: "something really wrong, like a brain tumor. Because his behavior is so labile & erratic and he sometimes holds his forehead as if it hurts." YES! It has to be something like that. And the actor has gone far to make it pronounced.
"But why [Genaro] he carried that bloody box in a clear plastic bag through a lobby filled with people beggars belief." LOL
"I liked Fernanda in anguish scenes. That actress seems to have more range than they've given her in this role." Yes! Not only supporting earlier hints that the character was troubled by her conscience, but showing a great range of underutilized talent. She was horribly good at cold and hard, but they made sure to show her always watching, evaluating, didn't they?
"I'd love to see the old guy [Ignacio] do more than shuffle along through the rest of this show." Yes. It always struck me that they chose an actor with an underlying youthfulness, and that would suit a storyline where he gets to become healthier, free-moving.
I do not know if the Colombiano is dead or alive. Anyone?
"Good description of all the door openings & closings up in the big hotel. It felt a little like a Laurel & Hardy. At least Dan got to see the blood before maid service came by." LOL
Looking forward to commenting on your friday recap!
(muy amable. it is nice to know.)
deb: "didn't they induce the coma that Lucia is in, in order to allow her to heal, cause it seems like everyone is waiting for her to wake up." It is true! LOL
Thank you, AnonGringa Mutual, the help.
Aficionada
Thanks, Hombre. Love this terrific line from your recap: Gina is lining it up, apparently working as Anas' assistant, no more being said about their mutual hate.
I got a kick out of Anas pulling out a gun on her step-kids at the dining room table. Though I can't say I'm rooting for Anas right now, I enjoy her hot head.
So Conrado outright shuts down Erica’s acting dream. What does he expect her to do, just hang around the pool all day?
Saúl seems like a straight arrow to me, but Sara ITA I could see him trying to play double-agent.
Aficionada, great outline of the scenes.
As I was watching I felt there was a disconnect. Ignacio seemed to be having a heart atack, then he was perfectly fine, then later he was in a hospital bed.
Of course Anselmo and Nuria are not hitting it off. He doesn't like any of the women Olegario hooks up with.
I don't think Genaro and Radames talked about killing Liliana. I think what Octavio heard was Genaro telling Radames about reminding him of all the dead with his name written on them.
Daniel went to Radames' office to look for Liliana. It has finally sunk into his thick head that Liliana is the criminal who needs to be watched.
Liliana is crying because she had been raped by El Diablo. I wouldn't call it S&M, because she was not a willing participant. I'm trying hard not to say she deserved it, because no one deserves to be raped, but...
Liliana recognized Nuria's perfume.
It wasn't the Police HQ, and I don't think Octavio went to see Daniel. It was Liliana's room. I think he and Vicky went to confront Liliana, but found the police there. Octavio didn't want to tell Daniel what he had heard because he doesn't want to get his abuelo in trouble.
Ignacio wants to see Liliana to make things right with her before he pops off.
Deyanira is telling Lucia about how the kids were taken.
The box of rats might have been from Olegario. I can't think of anyone else, not currently restrained, who would want to sabotage the Duran's restaurant. It may be part of a plan to get custody of the kids, to make sure his place is the only one suitable for them. But Octavio did seem rather calm while the women were uselessly screaming and standing on chairs.
The video showed Genaro with the box with the head. They noted that there was blood on the box. With this, coupled with the fingerprints taken from Liliana's room, they finally know that Liliana and Genaro have been working together and have something to do with the attempt on Lucia.
We must be nearing the end. However.... if Liliana can prove that she was held against her will and raped by El Diablo, Daniel will believe her and think that Lucia orchestrated it while lying comatose in the hospital. This could add another 20 episodes.
Lucia listen to me. Do not ever marry for the sake of the kids. They're not even your own kids!
-Anselmo's bf
Aficionada, thanks for your thorough run-through of all the scenes. Your "fill-in the blanks" questions were a great jumping off point and it gives us all a chance to chime in. I confess some episodes are way over my head language-wise, especially if they change scenes so rapidly as last night's; this is a good strategy rather than spending frustrating hours with the dictionary. I wouldn't worry about Spoiler Alerts, it's always courteous, but sometimes hard to tell what's a spoiler, because of how Telemundo sticks them in at all the ad breaks anyway. Others may think differently.
Anselmo's bf"We must be nearing the end. However.... if Liliana can prove that she was held against her will and raped by El Diablo, Daniel will believe her and think that Lucia orchestrated it while lying comatose in the hospital. This could add another 20 episodes." LOL
That and the bogus wedding ought to keep this old ship churning through the waters for a while. I admit to being dismayed by the wedding development. It's a stock TN device and sure to bog down what has been a pretty fast-moving show.
Yes, I also thought Olegario had raped Liliana; the way he was unbuckling his belt sent shivers down my spine. It all goes to show that rape is a crime that has nothing to do with sex, rather with the exercise of power, in the same category as torture. And that's a specialty of these bad guys. Which is why I don't generally watch narco shows. There's enough of that in the real world out there. I don't need to bring it into my home.
I liked how when Vero told Erica, maybe you should consider dressing a little less revealing, so all the guys wouldn't hit on you, making Conrado jealous, Erica was at first taken aback, then said, I shouldn't have to change who I AM! You go, girl, stay with those halters and hot pants! :)
Gina seems to keep digging her grave deeper and deeper by talking about Nat to Elias (who seems to have a thing for her). I'm forgiving Gina, too, since she looked very pretty with that purple outfit and her light blonde hair.
I think Conrado has a thing for Anas.
I like the sound of Sergio's Corvette, what a deep growling, engine sound. Symbolic of it's owner?
Lu knows the truth about her Dad selling drugs. Will the fact that he's doing it for his family soften her pain?
Ronnie Zamora is a little too overconfident. He's already gotten himself arrested, and I think Anas wants to do something against him, too. It is fun, though, trying to deciper his Cuban accented Spanish.
Thank you ONCE AGAIN for a wonderful recap. I like
the way that you comment without being mean.
I have a question of my own. Where is the hotel depicted as the Farron? I googled everything I could think of and couldn't find it. Maybe it's just an artist's conception. I love the architecture. My time wasn't wasted though because I saw some amazing ones that I wish I could afford to visit. AnonGringa
I think it was kind of funny when Vicky jumped up on the
chair after the rats were released since she's usually so strong and sensible. I would have done the same thing.
AWFUL!!!. Whoever did that knew what tbey were doing
because who would ever want to eat there again?
I have to keep reminding myself of all the nefarious deeds of El D to keep from liking him. Love Gabriel Porras. AnonGringa
This show is definitely "must see TV" so I watched last night after getting home from book club.
Hombre, I also get a kick out of the Cuban accents. I think maybe Mauricio is mimicking one. He didn't have that in Marido en Alquiler where he played a very swishy gay man. Last night he said something about emigrating from Cuba as a child. And he seems to know Ronnie Zamora's wife (or maybe mother). He keeps asking about his vieja which seems to annoy Ronnie.
Yes, the alternating scenes with Adán trying to reason with Conrado and Vero trying to get Erica to maybe tone down the sexy clothes were well acted. Hombre, I can see why you want Erica to ignore Vero's advice! Also, from the female point of view, a woman should not have to dress modestly to not be accused of leading men on. This is part and parcel of the "she asked for it" addressed to rape victims.
Conrado's double standard is amazing. He's definitely coming onto Anastasia. And Renato is picking up on that and is jealous.
I also thought the scene with Adán and Luciana was just fabulous. It's the best the Adán actor has been in the whole novela, in my opinion. And the girl was just perfect. She adores her father and looked up to him. She's heartbroken at seeing his feet of clay.
Aficionada, you are so funny with the screwball comedy stuff! and thanks for your kind words.
Frustrating epi, and I had to close my eyes several times [I hear you on that LXV].
Anselmo's bf hit most of your Qs. Lucia has an aneursym that requires risky surgery with only a 10% survival rate [if I got that right]. So familia decided she had to be brought out of her induced coma to make the decision for herself. "She is a mother after all."
The Nuria makeover was for a more respectable "look" before she went to the social services agency. Oleg asked her "you do know some respectable women, don't you?" Nuria hesitated: "a few." But then she just basically came up with that wig.
LXV from yesterday: "is the Colombiano even dead?" I didn't hear any reference to him last night....Ignacio in the hospital, is he prepping for the transplant, or is it because of his recent attack?
Spanish student must be right, transplant theme is a way to bring Doc more into the family and ultimately get Doc and Abel together. More hanging around the hospital! But last night's epi seemed to drop that and went off in crazy directions.
Wondering, is Oleg's deal now that he just wants to go straight and live happily ever after with Santa Lucia and the kids? or does he have some other nefarious thing going on.
AnonGringa, I didn't google it but I think you have hotel spelled wrong. I think it is "Faraon."
Thanks again, Afic!
Clara
Thank you for correcting my spelling. You might know that one of the few times that I didn't double check my spelling I'd get it wrong. Being a former school teacher, spelling is important to me. Anyway, I did find a Hotel Faraona in Lima, Peru, but that's not it. It's the facadethat impresses me. It seems like I remember reading that Los Mis was filmed entirely in Mexico, but I couldn't find it. Thank you again for chiming in.
AnonGringa
AnonGringa, I could be wrong on the spelling. You got me curious, and I did try to google it. I first got a hotel in Slovenia. When I added "Mexico" to the search, I got a Hotel Faraon in Hermosillo Mexico.
I'll let you know if I get a result closer to Mexico City.
Clara
thanks so much Aficionada, and for all the Commenteers that filled the holes, I too had a lot of blanks.
I think when Daniel and Pablo showed up in Radamés' office they were after the hotel security tapes, from which they later saw Genaro running around with his head-cut-off.
I think when Olegario lined out Nuria on her new job it also included injecting Lili with her 'medicine' which she would come to like more every day. (I'm picturing Lili becoming a worse nightmare than we can even imagine)
Memin seems to have lost all his street smarts, he and Roxy should have been out the window before the social workers pushed their way in.
wow, waking up Lucia from a coma, only to find out everything is worse than she could imagine, that was cruel. (I wonder if Adriana has asked if she could be in a coma too)
AnonGringa- I always figure they take a shot of say a hotel but then they photo shop the name, as in I wouldn't want a hotel I owned associated with these guys.
Rats, Anon Gringa and Clara -- this is just the kind of thing to distract me from what I should be doing... :D
So I figure the Faraón is a made-up name on the facade of a real hotel that may or may not be in Mexico City (since many times, part of the filming is done in calmer places with areas that look like the D.F but are safer, quieter, cleaner and less crowded, like, say Puebla).
Anyway, this is my theory: the character Radamés has the same [Egyptian] name as the character in the opera, Aïda. The name of the hotel means "the Pharoah." It's Rad's hotel and maybe he named it after himself... maybe.
Deb
(I wonder if Adriana has asked if she could be in a coma too)
ROFL
thanks so much Hombre and novelera, for your comments!
I was kind of fascinated by Veronica's dress, reminded me of something from, maybe "Alice in Wonderland".
so business has begun at the former "Black Lace" was it mannequins? I guess the coke operation they showed was Anas'.
and so Ronnie shows up at the Panorama Villas looking for the Mexican and the Chileano, and Vera later asks Adan about that, saying we are the only Mexicans here,
no, no, there are lots of Mexicans in Florida, Adan replys.
yes, novelera, touching scenes between Adan and Lu, to bad it's not there little secret because the Daytona crowd also know.
does someone have to actually bury Nat to get him to go away?
my class did a production of the opera. It turned out so
cute since they were only sixth graders. Thank you for
bringing back some pleasant memories. Your theory
about the naming of the hotel makes sense to me.
It's good to see your comments again. I don't think I've
seen anything from you lately. However, sometimes I
get you confused with Novelera. AnonGringa
AnonGringa, a class production of Aïda? Wow!
No, I haven't been commenting because I wasn't watching anything. I've started to tune back into Los Mis now -- I'm kind of curious to see how they resolve things. Even when I'm not watching, though, I try to read everyone's comments, especially on the weeks I've posted the page. It works out because thanks to all of you, I can ease right back into the show and feel as if I haven't missed a beat.
Deb: Needing to bury Nat to get him to go away? Funnnnny!
I don't think anyone except Chad knows that Lu's father was delivering the weed to the bar. Chad knew because he met him when he came to the house, I think. But I don't remember that Daytona and the rest of the mean girls would have recognized Adán as Lu's father when they saw him in the bar.
Let me know if anyone has a better memory about this.
NvMv:Welcome back to Los Miz! Things have picked up around here with our little band of followers. I hope they don't torture this show to death with improbable hackneyed plotlines before it ends.
AnonGringa: I can't NOT think of the opera when they say Radamès' name.I don't expect he will break into a version of Celeste Aida though. How fun with a bunch of 6th graders.
Looking forward to tonight epi (and to writing the recap—should be ready around noon tomorrow).
the kids "hated" me because I made them work so hard,
but it was definitely worth the effort. It came out so well.
I must give credit to a group of wonderful mothers who
made adorable period costumes for the production. I've
always loved anything about ancient Egypt, especially
the clothes and art. Thank you both for commenting.

deb
"does someone have to actually bury Nat to get him to go away?"
Reminds me of "Weekend at Bernies"
Thanks, Aficionada, for recapping as well as the others for filling in the blanks.
Radames sent the rats to the restaurant. In addition to disrupting Elena's workplace i guess he wants to mess with her at home as well in order to get her to come back to him.
Like others i was turned off by the implied assault on Liliana. And i also agree that Nuria looked the same.
From Radames' talk with Genero it was clear that they, and Liliana, were guilty of many crimes. Not sure why Octavio needed to speak with her directly instead of telling Daniel. If he and Vicky continue investigating on their own they'll surely find trouble.
For some reason i'm not sold on Eugenio...still seems creepy to me. Since Elena will probably forgive Pablo in the end, i'm still betting on Deya/Carlos.
Spanish student
You are all the BEST!!! ¡Mucha gratitud!
Much to reply. I am just on my way to really watch and hear the video of that capitulo. It will be so much better now that I have learned so much about it from all of you, thank you so much!! More on all after that.

The High School
Lu isn’t really buying what Adán is saying about it’s being for hers and Vero’s benefit that he’s selling weed. He asks her to ask Chad to keep quiet, and Lu tells him to do that himself. Adán pleads, saying that Vero is too good and innocent. She couldn’t bear to know this. [He again calls her huerquilla, and I finally look it up. It’s Mexican slang for girlie or chick, something like that.]
A Cuban Bar
Ronnie Zamora shows up at some bar like a conquering hero. This guy is slimy beyond belief as he drools all over the blonde waitress. He goes to the john and one of Anas’ guys grabs him up. [But there was some terrific Cuban music playing during this whole scene. Sounded like the group Cubanismo to me.] So they sling Ronnie in the trunk of a big Lincoln and off they go.
Apartment Panorama Villas
Adán tells Conrado that Lu knows about the dealing but thinks it’s only weed.
Anastasia’s Warehouse
The pickup truck we saw that took possession of the cocaine from the plane has arrived. Anas is jubilant. She says they’ve taken delivery of 400 kilos of cocaine and they’re going to be working hard. She also tells Gina to ask Colombia for another 400 kilos and brushes off Gina’s question about how to pay for this. The car with Ronnie Zamora arrives. The trunk is opened, and she threatens him immediately. Adán freaks out.
The High School
Daytona rants hysterically at Chad for having come after her, tried to seduce her, and then dumped her. Chad, Chad. He’s such a wimp. He tells her that he still cares for her. She spies Lu coming down the hall and yells that it’s because he’s fallen for Lu.
Anastasia’s Warehouse
Esparza immediately wants to kill Ronnie, but Anas refuses. She wants Ronnie to serve as a lesson for the other Cubans. Adán vehemently disagrees about the violence. Anas gets very irritated, calls him Norteño, and says this is the way this business is run.
Quezada’s Drug Factory
Leandro has brought Paola (cast list says Amelia, so maybe LQ IS insisting on using their passport names 24/7) to a place where drugs are being bagged up. Iggy treats the guys like crap, but LQ demonstrates some management skills and compliments them on their work. LQ takes his daughter to the coffin at the back that apparently stinks to high heaven. He starts yelling at the coffin, telling Nat he won’t be alone for long. He’s going to send Anastasia to him.
Movie Studio
Sergio arrives sporting a black eye. Érica has come to see him and to apologize for what Conrado did. Later he tells her that the movie is on. She’s going to get fitted for clothes and have her makeup done. He also says she has to sign a contract and show up to do the filming, despite Conrado. He tells her she’s going to be his “muse”. She happily agrees.
Apartment Panorama Villas
Conrado tells Adán to keep his mouth shut in future and to not mess up his relationship with Anas. Conrado says he wants to be close to her when the millions start rolling in. He also says he doesn’t mind doing away with a few Cubans if that’s what it takes to get the plata. Esparza calls and wants Adán and Conrado to come. Anas needs help.
Miami Police Department
Mauricio is furious that one of the cops let Ronnie Zamora get away. The guy says there was no one to watch the back door. Ferrara says he’ll get some more guys even if he has to confront Jimmy Carter!
Apartment Panorama Villas
Lu has come home from school, and Vero shows her some money Adán gave her. “Let’s go shopping”, she says.
The Miami Mall
The 3 amigos arrive at the mall. So do Renato and Anas in a different car. Anas assures Renato that all will be well and goes inside. After some suspenseful moments, LQ approaches her from behind.
Vero and Lu get off the bus at the mall, and Adán is horrified.
LQ gushes all over Anas, telling her how happy he is to see her, how beautiful she is. He says they should speak calmly. He has her sit at a table in the middle of the food court. He keeps on flattering her. Anas: “What do you want?” We see some guys arriving with very long musical instrument cases. Mariachis? I don’t think so.
LQ finally gets to the point. He says he heard a little rumor that she might be thinking of reviving Nat’s business. He starts to warn her. She barks at him not to threaten her. He doesn’t know what she’s capable of. He tells her that there are three francotiradores (sharpshooters) aiming at her, and only a small gesture of his and her head will be blown off.
Outside in the parking lot, Renato cleverly asks a cop for a light. [I think they’re going for 70’s verisimilitude here. Almost everyone smokes constantly and they smoke inside houses, inside cars, and in restaurants. Interesting how our mores have changed over the decades; it really shocks me every time they do it.] Anyway, Renato overhears that there is an armed person inside.
Anastasia hangs tough. She tells LQ she’ll wipe out all his guys. She doesn’t give a rat’s patootie about Nat’s stupid war over his degenerate brother. She cares about Miami, and she wants him out of there! She goes on to say he’s just like Cardona, no balls! He smooths his hair and the “sharpshooter” of course misses Anas and shoots a poor waiter. All hell breaks loose. LQ yells for his guys to grab her, and Anas runs.
Hearing the shooting, Vero grabs Lu and hides with her in a changing room. Anas is running for her life and ends up in the same changing area, in the next booth. Renato manages to shoot one of the sharpshooters.
LQ tries to sweet talk Anas out in the open. Then he starts shooting. He shoots people in the first two changing rooms. He’s about to shoot at the one Anas is in when she comes out and tells him to go ahead and kill her. Vero and Lu are in the next one down, trembling with fear. One of LQ’s guys hits Anas on the head.
Vero tells Renato that “Muriel” was taken. She heard her voice and heard a blow.
Casa Cardona
Irene lights into Renato for not protecting Anastasia. She tells him she knows her daughter will be tortured and then killed.
The Miami Mall
Mauricio and Salvador are at the crime sene. Mau says the bullets are the same caliber as those at the restaurant attack. He says he was told there were 5 guys. Sal asks the female cop, Corona, to get information from Interpol about any Colombians arriving in the last 24 hours.
Apartment Panorama Villas
Over dinner Luciana tells Vero and Adán that she will never forget that horrible voice that was speaking outside the changing room. Renato arrives and says that he has to speak with Vero. I suppose he’s looking for something she heard as a clue to finding Anas.
Aha! I looked it up. Ariel Texido, Mauricio Riquelme, really IS Cuban, born in Havana. So he must be just letting his real Cuban accent fly, and in Marido en Alquiler he was doing the more neutral Hispanic one.
"articulo mortis" --> at the point of death.
"a marriage in articulo mortis is a marriage that is performed when either the bride or groom is at the point of death and unable to sign a marriage license application or certificate."
ref: http://marriage.about.com/od/legalities/g/articulomortis.htm
what? does this happen a lot?, (ok I'm 16 and he is 102, what is the problem)
Just one thing for now.
I apologize to all for my insensitive comment about what I now see was Olegario's raping Liliana.
I did not see the scene from where Olegario began undressing, because I turn off sex scenes. Still believing the two made a very brief, secret acknowledgement of each other at police headquarters, I was preoccupied trying to figure out what their charade was to accomplish.
The thing is, that is no excuse. It was unfortunate in itself that the story contained a rape. And even if it WAS as part of a mutually planned deception, that would only mean that the writers made the same error of judgment and insensitivity that I did in making a tasteless joke of it. I am sorry.
Aficionada
Thank you for your usual fine recap. I'm happy that you mentioned the smoking because it bothers me a lot too.I think that Conrado is very attractive, physically anyway, until he is smoking, and most offputting of all, when he has a cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
Did they change Miguel Varoni's glasses? He looked a little better last night, but what a creep. AnonGringa
LUCIA'S HOSPITAL ROOM
"Rafa" begs Lucy to marry him, not for him, but for the kids. He can provide for them in the event... Lucy begs for time to think it over; she's only just woken up. He heaps on the guilt. He plays every card he's got, concern for the kids, he's a lawyer, she demurs...He warns her not to wait until it's too late
POLICE HQ
Our team is viewing the hotel security tapes, in which they see Genaro exiting an elevator carrying a head-sized carton in a bag—I could swear when he originally walked through the lobby, that bag was clear but this bag is a little more discreet. Well, they conjecture, this is none other than El Diablo's M.O.. The lab results confirm the identity of the blood. It's our sniper. But what would Genaro and Liliana have to do with the head of Marcos Jimenez and the attempt on Lucha Duran, asks the slightly-out-of -the loop Marisela (she's not been privy to Dan's nascent speculations). Another lab report reveals that the huellas (fingerprints?) found in the recovered taxi match those of Liliana. Something about all this no se cuadra a Pablo. They spend an awful lot of dialogue reaching the conclusion that Lil & Gen are accomplices.
THAT OTHER WEIRD LOOKING HOTEL
Liliana, still bound, but ungagged is trying to make headway with Nuria who plays a bit of cat'n'mouse but can't deny her request to go to the bathroom. It involves untying her ankles. Which results in Nuria taking a knee to the abdomen. Lily strikes out blindly, her wrists still bound. She knows it's Nuria, and she appears to be gaining the upper hand when Anselmo enters with the jeringe containing whatever it is they are using to contain Lil (is this just a knockout, or are they trying to addict her?). He stabs an IM injection into her skinny forearm right through the cloth of her blouse. Not good technique, but i guess it did the job.
CASA DURAN, LA FONDA
It's all hysteria. Still sweeping away the rats; all the customers have fled. Vicki still perched on a chair, uselessly flailing her arms. (those are mighty fat rats). Octavio has called an extermination service. Chelo & Vicki (now descended from her perch on the chair) wonder who could have done such a thing tan asqueroso. Two officials from the Board of Health arrive and shut them down, pronto, with onerous fines ($2500 did I hear?) to be paid (within 24 hours?) and all sorts of bureaucratic michigas to complicate their already complicated lives. They argue & plead that somebody did this to them, that the rats were sent to them in a box, to no avail. Casa Duran esta cerrada. A stray rat munches its way across the empty table.
HOSPITAL DE LA MISERICORDIA
Elena weeps at her desk, trying unsuccessfully to conceal her emotions from Carlos. He spouts platitudes and hugs her which Deyanira sees from down the hall. Her fuschia lipstick exactly matching her dress, she turns away with that injured expression we have come to know so well.
IGNACIO'S HOSPITAL ROOM
Fernanda is unsuccessfully feeding a tupperware full of roughage to our cardiac patient. Can't they contact Liliana?... so he can make peace with his daughter in the event... Fernanda demurs, persisting in some lie that Lil has gone up to NYC and can't be reached. You can wait 'til she's back. When will that be. What if...? Elena enters, all smiley, with Carlos, bringing the news that Lucha is awake, but muy delicada. Iggy tries to get up to go see her; they hold him down; he starts to blow a gasket in his determination to go see his hija. "Why is my daughter's life so difficult?" he cries.
HOTEL FARAON, RADAMES OFFICE
His lawyer is reporting about the results of the dastardly deed at Casa Duran. They will be closed for 15 days but it can be extended. The lawyer is surprised at Rad's change of heart; he's always been such a benefactor & supporter of the Duran family. "Was" says Rad. "Now, they'll see who Radames Echeverria really is."
HOSPITAL, CARLOS' OFFICE
Elena begs a little time off. "Sure, sure," says Doc Carlos, "Take all the time you need." Exit Elena. Enter Deyanira, "How quickly you've forgotten me." Then she launches into the "poor me", you just treat me like a prostitute now that you've got a lady like Elena, but let me tell you, with all her finery, she's not as honest as you think. He mumbles some stuff about how he's never forgotten and still loves her. He gets irked and tells her to stop playing that old movie in her head. She splutters on; he reiterates, impatiently that Elena is nothing more than a friend, and that he misses Deya terribly. And right on cue, Deya burst out, "Then show me, treat me like your girlfriend, take me to the movies, bring me chocolates." He just doesn't know how to deal with this. She says "Good bye forever" (again).
"RAFAEL MONTES'" OFFICE (in that other, weird looking hotel)
"Rafa" sighing about his love for Lucia; how can he possibly reform if she continues to stand in his way. Anselmo enters; he reports that Lil is under control; the talk turns to business and la merca de Samario (who is dead, or not?) and something about Miami. "Rafa" has no patience with this; he's a man with a mission and gives Anselmo a new assignment (Uh-oh, this is where all the hackneyed telenovela plotlines begin to emerge; we must be approaching the final unless they are going to pad this thing with said plotlines ad infinitum). "Rafa" hands Anselmo the address of the mother of Lucha's abogada, Camila. This does not bode well.
HOSPITAL, LUCHA'S ROOM
Iggy is visiting (they let him get out of his johnny and into something decent). Sweet platitudes about death and overcoming difficulties, accepting fate, bla bla. She admits she's afraid. He is too. He'll take care of the kids if the worst happens to her; but what if the worst happens to him? She confesses that her only option is to marry "Rafael Montes". Iggy's taken aback; she defends her position. The whole thing hinges around the articulo mortis thing. He warns her she doesn't love this guy. She concedes this, but says she respects him and trusts he will take care of her family. Papa reminds her that she really loves Danny. Lucia expresses her deep understanding of that flawed individual, and warts & all, she still loves him. He is the love of her life. And if she does live, she's going to have to learn to forget him, so she can have some peace. (Convoluted thinking?)
AN UNDERGROUND GARAGE
Genaro is seen sneaking around the cars, he is observed by some guy with a cellphone.
POLICE HQ
Dan & Pab discuss the probability that Genaro's been working with a mole inside the police. Marina, the erstwhile girlfriend swaggers up asking for a word with Dan. They step inside. He apologises for not calling her; she understands: his work is hard bla bla. But she's just checking to see if he's eating properly and sleeping enough. Well, not really, says Dan. You see I've got to figure out who tried to kill Lucia. She glowers, "Lucia, again." Sorry it bothers you so much", he says. Well, of course it bothers me that you love her and not ME me me. (could this woman be any more despicable). Marisela busts in with the news that the guy in the parking garage has spotted Genaro. "Sorry toots, gotta run, call ya later" Dan is off.
LUCHA'S LAWYER CAMILA'S OFFICE
"Señor Montes" is shown in. "How can I help you?" He spells out his devious matrimonio in articulo mortis scheme, trying to paint it in terms that seem plausible despite her initial skepticism and furrowed brow. She stands firm; "thank you for your concern for my client, you may leave now. I've got a lot of work to do."
Not rising from his seat, he checks his cellphone. Anselmo texts that all has gone according to plan. SO...it's time for Olegario to re-emerge and ply his usual trade. The wide grin, the lowered brows, He spells it out to the good lawyer. I'm a man who's ready to do anything for love. Good things, bad things. And then he drops the mom bomb. "Go ahead, call her" We see the mother pick up her phone. Anselmo has a gun to her head. Poor Camila is rendered helpless by this hideous dilemma. His parting words are a reminder that they've never had this conversation.
RADAMES OFFICE.
Genaro burst in holding a gun to the head of Rad's secretary; Rad waves him away dismissively. "Let her go. And what the heck are YOU doing here, don't you realize the danger you're putting us all in by showing up here." Right on cue, we hear sirens. Genaro looks around positively bewildered. Dan arrives in the lobby with a squad of cops. "We can't let Genaro escape" Rad runs up to Dan, out of breath to tell him that "Good thing you're here. Genaro was just in my office with a gun. And you know what I think, he and Liliana are either partners or lovers." A chase scene ensues in which Genaro eludes his pursuers by hiding in a laundry cart. (Sir John Falstaff, anybody?)
PARKING GARAGE
Our dream team, Dan, Pab & Ev stride around saying they've looked everywhere and can't find Sir John. A van departs behind them, Pablo assures Dan that the van was already checked out & cleared (Hmmm). Dan takes off to go sit by Lucy. He still can't sleep.
HOSPITAL
Neno the orderly bumps into the forlorn Deya in the hall as he wheels a bus accident through to the ER. They kiss, eliciting cheers from nurses passing by. Laughs & giggles.

LUCHA'S HOSPITAL ROOM
El Diablo has commandeered Camila in to discuss the terms of the matrionio in articulo mortis. She's gasping for breath & fighting tears. She has to pretend that as Lucia's legal adviser that she's on board with this scheme. Olegario explains away her discomposure, saying that it's to painful to see Lucia in such grave circumstances and that Camila's mother is on the verge of death, and isn't it professional of her to come over here to settle this legal matter for you. Lucha is sympathetic. Camila is shaking by this time, imploring Lucha to marry the guy as soon as possible. She runs off to check up on her mom. Olegario confirms that the deal is on with Lucy. He's going to start the paperwork ASAP.
Elena shows up. She asks are you absolutely sure what you're doing? Lucha says, "You of all people would know. It's about the kids."
OUT IN THE CORRIDOR
Elena phones Chelo to tell her Lucia's decision; Pablo overhears and calls Dan.
DAN'S APARTMENT
In a brief beefcake moment, Dan answers the phone. He pulls on his pants and rushes off.
AN UNIDENTIFIABLE HOUSE WE'VE NOT SEEN BEFORE
Memin makes a break for it; some goon grabs him up. (that poor kid's lost the magic touch, letting himself get caught like that)
LUCHA'S HOSPITAL ROOM
Sor Mili, Deya Elena. trying to persuade Lucha to reconsider. In walks el Señor Juez with the bridegroom. "Let's get started" The judge pontificates at length; while Diablo is jumping out of his skin with impatience.

EN LA CALLE
Dan drives himself to the wedding, thinking grim thoughts, he arrives seconds too late.
Thanks, novelera, for another excellent recap. I enjoyed your humor ("Mariachis? I don’t think so.") and appreciate your looking up huerquilla. I tried to find it but didn't succeed. And, as always, you called attention to lots of stuff that went right by me without pausing at my brain.
AnonGringa, I too thought Miguel Varoni looked a bit better last night, but I'm still surprised at how unattractive he is and how careless he (or his character) seems about his appearance.
deb Thanks for the info about "articulo mortis". I've only seen this once before, back in 2006, my first (and still favorite) telenovela, Alborada. It was called "matrimonio in extremis" and Don Cristobal (Ernesto LaGuardia) having been mortally wounded in a duel, married, on his deathbed, his truelove Catalina Escobar (Iran Castillo) to the accompaniment of many tearful onlookers. Of course, he didn't die and they ended up living happily ever after, particularly since at the end of the story, the Inquisition is abolished and everybody has a slew of niños.
And Aficionada I wouldn't have been so sure it was rape except for the extreme cruelty he displayed and the belt unbuckling and the fact that she looked so disheveled afterwards. I react badly to this kind of thing depicted cinematically. Some people can take it in stride. I don't think it was gratuitous in this case, because they really wanted to get across the deeply evil nature of this man. We've been deceived now for weeks with his masquerade and the role switching is disorienting. Porras is so charismatic, it's easy to like his bad persona. This scene was pivotal (even though I had to turn away).
Thanks, Novelera. Fine recap of an action-packed episode. I too liked the Cuban music played while Zamaro was carried out of the club. Great line: We see some guys arriving with very long musical instrument cases. Mariachis? I don’t think so.
How nice that on the walk-through of his drug factory, Quezada gave his working grunts a pep talk.
What a pitiful "sharpshooter." I’m glad he missed Anas of course, but why spray the whole shopping mall with bullets. Any idiot with a gun can do that.
When Conrado tells Adán he’s willing to kill the Cubans if he has to, Adán asks him what ever happened to his Bob Marley and natural herb ideals? Cute.
Anas looked absolutely fabulous in that white dress.
Thinking about why Anas tolerated Adán openly disagreeing with her about the violence. Esparza is Cuban. Conrado is Chileno. But Adán is a fellow Mexican. She called him Norteño, as a putdown I guess but I think it also showed affection. I believe she respects Adán’s thinking.
thanks so much novelera!
you are always going that extra mile to help us out, I sure do appreciate it.
I think you are right about Daytona not knowing Adan is Lu's dad, Daytona is an interesting character in that she seems to wobble between being in total control to being totally out of control, with not much in-between.
in Senora Acero the bad guys were always calling Sara, 'huerca' which I had to track down by googling, and one definition was 'brat'.
haven't they referred to Panorama Villas as condos earlier?
I'm not sure where Erica's acting career is going, does she have to sign a contract now, but this Sergio guy sure keeps me guessing.
why is it Conrado doesn't have a car?
yes, Leandro looks like he has been living out in the jungle, and his glasses do seem to be not-so-square this time, and it was interesting watching Anas' tough routine while she is slowly getting the picture that this guy has totally out maneuvered her, but I was surprised that there were no cops or security guys running around during the shooting.
the local police here have an ear piece so that you can't listen in on the radio chat, like Renato did, and yes, the cigarette smoke is killing me, any one remember when you could smoke on a plane, it didn't bother me then because I was the one doing the smoking, you could blow the smoke into those air tube earphones and it would come out from under you hair like your brain was on fire.
wow, I think the local tv station let the commercials run long because I didn't get to see what happened at the mall after Anas gave up.
I was really surprised to see Renato show up at Adans, his life has become sooo complicated.
love your comments Niecie in MD, and thanks for explaining the Bob Marley line.
Niecie, thanks for the kind words. I liked your take on Anas putting up with Adán's disagreeing with her because they're both from Mexico. And maybe there's some small kernel of decency left in her that respects his doubts about the violence.
Yes, I also noticed how Miguel Varoni doesn't look like his usual handsome self. He looks like he's put on 30 pounds since Marido en Alquiler. His hair is sort of lifeless. And those were extremely ugly glasses. Don't know if he wears contacts in his other roles or if the glasses are part of his costume and are plain glass lenses. Of course, as usual, his acting is first rate. He's VERY scary as Leandro Quezada.
I'm nervous about Monday's show. I don't want to see more rapes and/or beatings administered to Anas. Of course she'll survive whatever happens; she's the star.
wow lxv, you capture this story so well with all of your colors.
""Sorry toots, gotta run, call ya later" Dan is off."
I think it was the first hospital meeting with Olegario when Lucia, stalling for time, asked to get a second opinion from her lawyer, but I'm a lawyer he says, that kicked off that whole thing.
I think the "other, weird looking hotel" is a condo or something that Olegario bought for Diabla so she wouldn't be living in a hotel, because she says, I'm not that kind of girl.
loved the two nurses passing by Deya and Neno smooching, woo-hoo, she really laid into him with the kiss after doc Carlos dismissed any ideas of even going on a date with her, why can't we just have sex?
is it time to put Lucia back into a coma, I think she has suffered enough for one day, and no one even brought the kids to see her.
Deb, I DO remember when you could smoke on a plane and I was one of the ones doing it! I quit in 1977. I was on a flight in Brazil in the late 80s where they had the weirdest set-up I'd ever seen. In the US, when you could smoke, you were at the back of the plane. In Brazil, you could smoke on the right side of the aisle but not on the left side. Of course this was absolutely useless because the smoke drifted right across the aisle!
I have a bad feeling about Érica's contract. The scene she did before looked sort of OK, and she was clothed for the second part of it we saw. But I worry that Sergio is wanting her for porn. And that the contract she will sign will force her into doing whatever movie Sergio wants her to do.
I was also surprised by the cops' calm demeanor when Renato approached and asked for a light. Didn't know that about earpieces so people can't hear the police radio. But in our current era, cops would never let you walk right up to them that way. Renato actually approached the guy from behind. And he even tapped him on the shoulder to return the lighter. Cop was not worried at all about Renato maybe pulling a gun.
LXV, thanks again for a great recap.
I like Porras but he's so easy to hate now as Diablo. Killing 2 women and even the assault of liliana was too much. Shame lucha couldn't see how traumatized her attorney was in his presence. Plus, i know it advances the story, but i'd never give my children to a man i din't love when i have family members who love them.
I'm also turned off by Deya. Although i understood her desire to be in a normal relationship I never agreed with her marriage ultimatum. And publicly using 1 man to make another jealous is childish. And publicly kissing him in the workplace ( with nuns walking around) was in poor taste and doesn't help the prostitute image she's trying to shed. And, dissing Elena was the lowest. So although it probably won't happen, i'm thinking if Elena returns to Pablo, Carlos is free to be with the more respectable Marisela.
Spanish student
lxv, thank you so much for your understanding and kindness.
I too, usually, react badly to such, but clearly had missed the point, completely.
Important point, that the story now needs to remind us of just how stunningly evil the diablo really is. "We've been deceived now for weeks with his masquerade and the role switching is disorienting. Porras is so charismatic, it's easy to like his bad persona. This scene was pivotal (even though I had to turn away)." Yes!
I have only skimmed your excellent recap. Thank you! More after I've read it all.

Ixv, I noticed Deyanira's lipstick too, and I never notice things like that!
What exactly does matrimonio en articulo mortis mean? Besides getting married on your death bed?
-Anselmo's Ex
Anselmo's EX It's a legal term for a death bed marriage and I think the key feature is that the marriage is legal even though it may never be consummated. In my first exposure to this, it was done to save the reputation of a girl who had been associated with a man in a way the her father thought was compromising (we're talking 19th century here) even though the guy had never been less than gallant. (it was her father who was the gold digger). Rushed or forced marriages can be contested on various grounds, but this special step precludes any haggling after the death and makes inheritance and other rights go forward without contest..
Ixv, so in this case, let's say Lucia survives the operation and realizes that she made a big mistake. Can the marraige be anulled?
I still don't understand why El Diablo wants her. She can't bare him any children, and she doesn't want to be with him. He doesn't even like being Rafael, and it's not like he's starved for sex.
What's the point? To attain the unattainable? Then what?
-Anselmo's Ex
(I don't like Anselmo anymore.)
"Sir John" Genaro, indeed! LOL
Olegario is addicting Liliana. Told Nuria how Lily would like the drug more and more.
So, would matrimonio en articulo mortis be easily annulled if the person recovers and regrets it? Happening under duress, unconsummated? In this case, should Lucia and Olegario both live, and even some of the truth be revealed, of course fraud, at the VERY LEAST, would render it annulled.
Side note: Storm again, sunday through monday, sigh. One better thing this time, though: New York might get more rain than snow, yes?
Good weekend to all!

tks Aficionada for the info about the drug they're using on Lily. I had thought so, but wasn't sure. I want to see a terrible anvil for her, but no more rape, please. Insanity, disfigurement, pauperization, anything.
Good question why Oleg would want Lucia. I know he's been calling her his Saint ever since ever. So, I think it is more than that she is unattainable, but also that she is as Holy as he is Evil, and he keeps doing that schizoid thing about how he could reform if only she would be his - his, as in property.

lxv, "All the more reason why I'd like to see her walk into her future alone, unencumbered by either of these freakishly obsessed maniacs (Dan & Diablo)."
How I wish, too!
I was thinking just minutes ago that now that things have all gone so horribly unjustly punishingly for Lucia, maybe they WILL have the Javert character - Dan - realize his own crimes and, judging himself by his own obsessively self-righteous severe code of absolute irredeemability, throw himself into a river.
Dan & Diablo. Perfect!

Aficionada: one can only hope! (but this i a telenovela)
Thanks, Novelera for another stellar recap!
Since Adán calls Verónica "Güera" (which I think means Blondie (sort of) or light-haired girl, I thought he was calling Lu "Güerquina" but your explanation clears this up. Of course Vero calls Adan "Flaco" or skinny.
I don't think this is Miguel Varoni's real hair, I think he's been wearing wigs. And the one he wore to the mall was a different wig, more smoothed out hair, pretending to be on top of his "normal" hair, so he wouldn't be recognized. Not sure of this, but that's what I thought at the time.
It's funny how the killing, raping, stuff bothers us a little bit, but the SMOKING, now that's REALLY upsetting! :)
In honor of all the Cuban influence in the show, I had a Cubano sandwich for dinner tonight. It was delicioso!
Actually, I also find it jarring about all the smoking insides, since of course you don't see that nowadays. But look at movies from the 40's, and smoking is not only done everywhere, it's a major plot point, way to meet people, etc. I guess the equivalent prop in modern shows would be cellphones, which figure into the plot in all sorts of ways (but not in this show, of course!).
lxv: "one can only hope [Dan into river]! (but this is a telenovela)"
LOL! You're right!
alas
Wouldn't want to encourage women to dream of self-reliance or anything! One of the things I first liked about Marido en Alquiler was being able to hope they were moving into the present in that way.
Ah, well, one step at a time. Telenovelas really have come a very long way. As you recently pointed out, the sea change in depicting same-sex relationships has been spectacular!

Glad to see the show is still getting some love around here. I can't watch daily, I do marathons at the end of the week, so I can't always comment, but I'll try to be more present.
Some random thoughts after this week :
-I'm sure Arturo sleeps with his hat; I wonder if the actor likes the look, he always has to lift his head more than necessary to look at other people;
- Patricia is going down a slippery slope - jealous of Candela, unhappy that Samuel isn't with her 24 /7, missing her former luxurious life - Ulyses has her all figured out, he knows exactly what buttons to push.
- how long before Samuel realizes that Andrea is crazy about him? they act like second graders : she huffs and puffs that she can't stand him, he 's still too fascinated by his new toy to realize that she luuuvs him
- Flavio and Irina having sexy time in the woods, with wild beasts roaming and after being held captive in a stinky place for over 24 hours = gross; Arturo and Sofia did it first on the beach, these two in the middle of nowhere; Will Andrea and Samuel do it in the barn? or would that be too classy for the brothers?
- Cayetana and El Capitan? What do you all think? They make a nice couple, I think they are even starting to respect one another; her love for the girls might be her rédemption.
- how ridiculous is it that the police is setting up a huge opérations based on a girl's dream? of course they have no leads, they are the usual easy to fool tn cops, but come on! !!

The person previously known as Anselmo's bf: "great outline of the scenes." Thank you for that kindness, for seeing it as that.
Thank you so much for filling in so many pieces!
"I don't think Genaro and Radames talked about killing Liliana. I think what Octavio heard was Genaro telling Radames about reminding him of all the dead with his name written on them." It is true that was one of the most intense shocks to poor Octavio. What I had heard only part of, I found re-watching it, was when Radames complained that Liliana was ruining every thing, "No one, absolutely no one accepts her leadership!" Genaro asked what he proposed to do, challenge her, or kill her. That had been the first shock to Octavio - I have wondered, was that why he and Vicky first went to find Vicky's Aunt Liliana??
"Octavio didn't want to tell Daniel what he had heard because he doesn't want to get his abuelo in trouble." Yes. I wonder how Octavio is going to feel when he finds out his beloved abuelo (he doesn't want to get in trouble) is involved in the murder of his father. As hateful as he turned toward Lucha? Poor kid, though. And how will he and Vicky deal with Aunt Liliana being the one who actually did it?
"Liliana is crying because she had been raped by El Diablo. I wouldn't call it S&M, because she was not a willing participant." You are very right. I am sorry I said that, very sorry.
"We must be nearing the end. However.... if Liliana can prove that she was held against her will and raped by El Diablo, Daniel will believe her and think that Lucia orchestrated it while lying comatose in the hospital [emphasis mine]. This could add another 20 episodes." LOL, though probably TRUE!
YES! : "Lucia listen to me. Do not ever marry for the sake of the kids. They're not even your own kids!"
LXV: " … thorough run-through of all the scenes. Your 'fill-in the blanks' questions were a great jumping off point and it gives us all a chance to chime in." Thank you so much for that! I am happy, and relieved, to think of it that way. I have seen that many were very generous about filling in, including you. It is that rapid switch of scenes that literally freezes me, mind and writing hand. Thank you, too, about spoiler alerts.

Los Mis (continued)
AnonGringa: " … a wonderful recap." Thank you for seeing it so generously! "I like the way that you comment without being mean." So nice to say! A reason I love this place is that seems to be the tone here: as kindly as possible.
"I have a question of my own. Where is the hotel depicted as the Farron?" I LOVE that everyone helped you find that out! I was amazed that it was possible to find, too (wow, Anselmo's Ex!)! I tell you, if I ever need something investigated, I'm posting the question here!
[The rats] " … I would have done the same thing. AWFUL!!!" ME TOO!! "Whoever did that knew what they were doing because who would ever want to eat there again? emphasis mine]" YES! More effective even than shutting it on the spot and fining them!
"I have to keep reminding myself of all the nefarious deeds of El D to keep from liking him. Love Gabriel Porras." I have that same need. Watching him as Rafael, I kept thinking how nice that I could like him again for a moment! lol
Clara: " … you are so funny with the screwball comedy stuff!" Thank you! If you'd seen me, though …. ROFL
Thank you so much for adding so many pieces!
"Oleg asked her 'you do know some respectable women, don't you?' Nuria hesitated: 'a few.' But then she just basically came up with that wig." LOL WHAT a character she is! Talk about screwball comedy! Elsy Reyes, brilliant!! I hope to see a lot more of her.
deb: Thank you so much! And " … all the Commenteers that filled the holes, I too had a lot of blanks." Eveyone's been great at that, you too!
" … Genaro running around with his head-cut-off." LOL!
"Memin seems to have lost all his street smarts, he and Roxy should have been out the window before the social workers pushed their way in." I know! I literally said out loud, "GO! Get outa there!"
Spanish student: Thank you so! And for adding and filling in!
"If he and Vicky continue investigating on their own they'll surely find trouble." I agree! They don't seem to grasp the danger, and Octavio should, since he is reacting to hearing how vicious they are!
deb: Thank you so much for that information about "marriage in articulo mortis"! Added greatly!
Also, about Nuria being "gata": Olegario calls her his cat. Anselmo: "streetcat!" Oleg: "She WAS. Now she is my personal assistant."
¡Buenas noches, todos!

So glad the rats were rehired. Can't
remember the last TN we saw rats turned loose to sabotage a restaurant.
Dan (the galan) is going to be sooo angry that the woman he loves, who just came out of a coma was tricked into marriage, more raving & accusing from the idiot.
The marriage isn't valid 'cause she didn't marry Rafael or else she is already a widow.
Variopinto "The marriage isn't valid 'cause she didn't marry Rafael or else she is already a widow."—¡por supuesto! you are so correct. She's marrying "Rafael Montes" who doesn't exist!
Thank you for the name of the hotel. Mystery solved!
Your name change is too funny!

LXV, sparkling, stylish recap per usual. Thanks for it after your busy week.
And great comments everybody, Anselmo's ex, thanks so much for solving the hotel.
Aida, I had no idea.
deb, for the articulo mortis avoiding the signature requirement.
Aficionada for Dan as Javert character.
I love learning these tidbits, adds so much TN texture! Thanks all.
Tho they both said their "vows," did the judge ever pronounce them marido y mujer? During Lo Que La Vida Me Robo on Uni someone researched a marriage law issue related to the person's identity not matching the apellido, and if I remember properly it turned out to be a big problem.
Sigh, bad development with the Senora Madre of Camila Fernandez, and maybe Camila herself. So unnecessary. Besides her distraught demeanor, Camila didn't even really say anything other than "good idea." He had here with the kids, anyway.
Glad you dumped him, ex of Anselmo.
Clara
ah, but didn't Arturo's hat come off when Sofia fainted, and his hair was perfect, then when he was hustled off when Leonardo showed up, he forgot it, and Leonardo went aHHa, but Soledad insisted the hat was Pablo's, and when everyone left, she took the hat with her.
and doesn't he have two white hats, one he wears for special occasions.
Deb, you have a great memory! He does have that other hat that he wore for the rodeo. The hat has become a character, I always end up staring at it, it's as distracting as Leonardo's colorful jackets. I do like Cayetana 's style, Sonya Smith is DA BOMB! !
AnonGringa, I don't mind the journalist girl, but El Capitan would work so much better with Cayetana. She respects him and he's discovering that she's not totally restentful. So far she seems smitten with Leonardo (yuck ) but a lot can happen
AnonGringa, I don't mind the journalist girl, but El Capitan would work so much better with Cayetana. She respects him and he's discovering that she's not totally restentful. So far she seems smitten with Leonardo (yuck ) but a lot can happen
I haven't watched for several weeks, but I remember Arturo wearing a brown hat in the rodeo.
He would have to have another white hat though, it is going to get wet in the shower
I think that the Captain and Cayetana will get together. It definitely looked that way when they were dealing with the kidnapping. The reporter is just using the Captain to get info. I don't think they will be a couple in the long term.
"El Señor de los Cielos 3" is currently filming and will most likely follow "Dueños del Paraíso", but what will follow "Los Miserables", hmm, yesterday masquetelenovelas announced that evil Olegario (Gabriel Porras) will become good guy Carlos Martínez in "El jardinero" (which may have begun recently in Los Angeles)
"Su personaje se llama Carlos Martínez y es un inmigrante indocumentado que vive en Los Ángeles. Es un hombre bueno y trabajador que quiere que sus dos hijos tengan un mejor futuro y puedan aprovechar las oportunidades que él nunca tuvo."
http://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com.es/2015/01/gabriel-porras-sera-el-protagonista-de.html#more
I really enjoy this show, especially now that the Alma doppelganger is on the scene? Was the "connected souls" element in the original PdG? (I didn't see it.)
Whenever Sonya Smith has her hair down and light makeup she looks like she could be the Alma/Veronica actress's mom. Which kind of makes me feel like her husband was just replacing her for a younger model. Sooo, I can't help but think he's a jerk. (But what do I know.)
Duenos
I agree with Erica that she should not have to change her manner of dress to appease Conrado.
BUT, She seems terribly naive to me and I still cannot take her idea that she's an actress seriously. Before meeting Sergio, she didn't seem to do anything to promote herself except lay out in the sun. Heck, Daisy was the one who called her attention to the ad in the paper for the casting. And Conrado even pointed out that the production company seemed sketchy (one "L" in Holywood Films.)
I do like Erica, but I feel like she needs some clearer heads to confer with. Conrado is to jealous and Vero is a little to quick to judge her.
In PdG the Veronica character did have dreams/premonitions.
Does anyone know the song that played while Flavio and Irina "relaxed" by the fire in the moonlight? Tried looking lyrics up on Google, but nada and my daughter tried Shazam (or whatever the music finder magic app is) and nada.
Los Mis
Gabriel Porras was so likeable in the movie "Bajo la misma luna" with Kate del Castillo. But in Reina del Sur he was despicable. I had hopes that he would turn from the dark side and become Rafael, but the Dark Side of the Force has obviously taken over.
Thanks to everyone for the time you take to recap and comment. I have a group of students watching Tierra (since we only watch clips and do other things we are only on Capitulo 12) and it has been a real hit with them.
LXV, I am delighted you are getting from us how wonderful your recaps are!! And that you so enjoy doing it!
Thanks to you, I am getting to see what fun it is!
Thank you for doing monday's recap. I can do tuesday's, and I am sure, some other nights' - will know more as the days go by.
Stay warm and safe in this next storm!
If anyone else wants to recap Los Mis - Anselmo's Ex? - let me know if there are nights that will be best for you, and I will be glad to work around that.
See you all on the new page!

Yes, the Alma/Ruth character did have dreams in PdG but only a couple of times when the Arturo/Juan character was in danger. Veronica's psychic connections to the Reyes brothers seem to be much stronger.
Since the Leonardo/Fernando character didn't have anything to do with her death in PdG, she never reacted with fear of him like she has here.
As for the Captain's willingness to take Veronica's dream seriously, remember that he knew Alma. He did a super double take when he saw Veronica so he might be disposed to believe that Veronica has some psychic connection to the Reyes brothers. Also he didn't have any other leads.
