Que Te Perdone #59: Dog In A Manger Danger for Mat; Mac Is Made; And Sacramental Sin May Be “In”
Fortunately for those of us in Viewerville who’d just eaten, Fausto suddenly comes to his senses. He stops himself from ruining his whole political future through the folly of forcing himself onto his sleeping “foster daughter,” and thus causing a sordid sex scandal the likes of which that pueblocito has NEVER seen. Renata comes into the hall. Feisty is safely there and tells her he’s just on his way to bed, that didn’t want to disturb her. He then walks off, presumably to take a quick cold shower before bed.
At that point Mateo, moping about, comes to Ren’s aid in the hall. They chat in her bedroom about the news that Abi is now engaged to Diego. Ren is all for the match. “--He’s a good man who cares deeply for Abi and will do all he can to make her happy. He loves her!” Mat moans and sighs. “--Yes, but not as much as I do!” Mat’s confused. How could she support this relationship or this marriage when she just told him that she was forced to marry a man she didn’t love? Oh, but it’s not the same thing, replies Ren. And anyway, it was your decision to give up Abigail in order to remain with your wife and that little child that’s on the way.
Mateo sighs even louder. Ren says she would have also sacrificed for her children if Dios had given her that opportunity. Besides, she’s confident that if Diego continues trying this way he’ll eventually win her over. (Sorry, Ren. It doesn’t ever work that way.) His sigh about shakes the rafters at this point and he goes back to his bedroom with his maudlin thoughts. Yup. But darn this “sacrifice” thing is a lot harder than he thought it would be.
To make matters worse, Dazzling Di comes out of the bathroom in her negligee and tries to seduce him. A few minutes later we see she’s bitching about him rejecting her. “I. Don’t. Love. You. Diana! Don’t you get it? I am only with you for the baby. It wouldn’t be fair." It wouldn’t be right to do the deed now. He’d only be using her. She deserves better from him. (No. She doesn’t!!) Di objects and pouts. She reasons that men only want or need the physical; they leave the touchy-feely stuff to the women when it comes to bed. Nope, he tells her, he’s got scruples. Sorry not to be a member of The Average Guy gang. He takes a sheet and a pillow and leaves to sleep on the couch in the living room downstairs.
The next morning Abi enters the living room and sees Melancholy Mat asleep on the couch. “My love, my only love!” She walks over to the couch, sits down and begins caressing his cheek. Mat’s apparently a light sleeper cuz he opens his eyes immediately and the two lock eyes and then lock lips. “--Tell me that you won’t marry Diego. Tell me that you are mine, only mine!” Her kiss is her answer—“Abigail, are you here?” Whooopsy! They gotta break it off. As Mat lies to Renata that he hasn’t seen her, Abi sneaks off. He agrees to join Ren for breakfast in a few minutes.
Outside in the garden Abi tells herself she can’t deny that she loves Mat with all her heart. Ren finds her there and Abi agrees to eat breakfast with her and Mat. First, Ren wants to discuss her engagement to Diego. One of the reasons Abi accepted, she admits, was because Diego told her Ren thought he should and to take her away from the ranch. Ren says she has to because she’ll never be happy as long as she lives at Rancho de los Angeles. Well, she’s afraid of turning into her mother, loving one man (Fausto) so much that she would settle to be no more than his lover for her entire life.
Upstairs, Mat’s remembering his morning kiss from Abi. Diana enters the shower and he’s at a loss to stop what always jus’ comes naturally.
Back by the fountain, Abi confesses to Ren that she cares a great deal for Diego but it’s not love! Well, don’t turn into your mother and give it a chance. You wouldn’t have accepted Diego if you didn’t deep down think it was possible to fall in love with him. (Now that’s the kind of convoluted logic that we like to hear around here!) Yep, if she could just forget Mat then Diego would become her #1. However, the love she feels for Mat is just too great to ever overcome! Well, says Ren, no way could you ever be happy having to see Diana with Mat every day, not to mention your mother! At that point Abi also admits she decided to return from the city was because Macaria told her she has cancer. She doesn’t want to leave her mother or the ranch.
Mat is still mopey after the shower nookie he “gave into” and Di is miffed. Satiated and still sad, Mat expresses his hesitations. “--Sorry, but this just isn’t right! It just isn’t. Why can’t you understand that?” “—Because I refuse to accept that!”
Of course, once they come down to breakfast—together—Diana brags to Ren and Abi that if they’re a bit tardy to the table it was because they were ahem…working on their relationship. “--The best part of breaking up is making up.” Abi looks disgustedly up at Di and then at Mat. She says she’s got no appetite and excuses herself from the table. Mat (the worm) is left to squirm--which he’s doing really well.
Over at La Enramada, Benito is nervous at breakfast and cannot eat. We later learn he’s got an appointment with the banker to ask for an extension on the loan that otherwise would have been paid off. (Good luck with that, Beni, you silly little fool.)
Ren tells Mac that she was only going along with Feisty’s demands so that Mac could keep her informed about Diana’s doings. She really does cherish their friendship, though, and to show her she’s giving her a present. “--What??? “A car? A house like Abigail’s? What???” They head to Ciudad de Valle to the hospital. There she tells her the gift is to be her health. She’s gotten the best specialist there to look her over—a gynecologist—to treat her “cancer.” Ruh-roh!!
While Mac gets her mammogram done, Dr. Pats and Ren discuss her giving Fausto another chance after misjudging him vs. his getting back in good with his ex-wife, Ximena. She’s remarried and he and she have gone on with their lives in separate directions; they have nothing in common anymore. Oh yes—it’s their dead child, says Ren. Clear the air if nothing else.
Xime and Twin discuss switching off every seven days and how much Daniela likes Real San Andreas, not to mention the chance it gives her to hook up with Patricio again.
Meanwhile, Diego and Meliton head into town so Diego can have the padre start the paperwork for the wedding. Once Diego leaves to do some errands, Meliton tells Padre Tom why he doesn’t think Diego and Abi should get married. Turns out that her real mother and Diego are half-brother and sister from an illicit affair he had with Vicenta's daughter! Father Tomas is upset. How could he marry those two knowing that Diego is Abi’s uncle! Oh, it could be done, says Meli, and you could look the other way [con la vista gorda]. The Church has overlooked this sort of thing in the past, hasn’t it? Tom agrees the world isn’t perfect, but still that’s not to say The Church would allow it this time. (Ugh!) Well, Meli’s told him outside the confessional so he’s not bound by that sacrament and can speak freely or whatever else his conscience tells him to do. Tom says alright. He’ll think on it.
Barragan pays a visit to Max, mentions he met his step-aunt the other day and that he’s still looking for Lucio. Oh, you can find him at Fausto’s, says Max. No, not as the capataz, but as a full partner there! He’s come back and is going to invest his money there. Barragan is intrigued, to say the least, considering Lucio’s never had two pesos to rub together in his entire life, let alone enough to buy half of an entire hacienda with. (Of course, big mouth Max is too naïve and full of himself to know he should have kept his mouth shut about that, especially with Simona’s stolen packet of pesos still missing since Mia’s murder.)
Once Barragan leaves, he checks with his uncle’s banker buddy to see if Tío Porferio’s got any stock in the same bank in the area there in which Abi and Diego keep a joint business account.
As for Ren, she tells Pats she’s been living mistakenly, blaming Fausto for what Mac did. Pablo Ramos’ death was brought on by Mac colluding with her father, Don Bruno, for a few piddly pesos, not Fausto. Just then, Dr. Pats gets the results of the mammogram: Mac doesn’t have cancer. She’s healthy as a horse—which, we learn, is exactly what Ren thought. “Another lie from Macaria!” What will she do now that she’s confirmed Mac’s lied to Abi and to her? Fight back with the same weapons, she tells Dr. Pats.
Down at the local cantina in San Angeles, Max, Lucio and Fesity discuss Max’s plan to have his uncle pressure the bank that Abi and Diego have their loan with to foreclose against them without their knowledge. By the time they find out what’s what, it will be too late and Lucio, Fausto and Max will be owners of La Enramera together. (Not for long, we can figure; Feisty’s not gonna share his family’s finca with nobody!) They start up a poker game, despite the fact that it’s illegal. And, speaking of illegal, Julio/ian shows up dressed in red pinstripes and ready to gamble it all on the farm (literally, methinks. –Edi and Effy, call your office!)
Across town, Mat walks in to check on Domingo as Abi and Diego are swapping spit. They leave to give Dr. Mat a minute with his patient.
Back at the cantina, Barragan shows up to speak with Lucio. The two go back to Barragan’s office for the formal chat. Along the way they run into Marcelino and his hired gun. Lucio has a moment where he gets in a good one on Marcelino, razzing him about his manhood now that his wife’s running for mayor.
Back at the hospital, Mat runs after Abi in the lounge and tries to discuss his and DeeDee’s unconventional relations and relationship. “—It’s not the way Diana says!” “--Oh, poor little boy! Don’t tell me she forced you to have relations, or that you couldn’t defend yourself!” “—Do not marry Diego! Do not marry him without loving him!” “—I may not ever love him with the same intensity that I loved you, but I will marry him and I am going to be happy. He is decent and good and he deserves it.”

Mat is an idiot.
Lucio is too, thinking Fausto will tolerate him as a socio.
And while we're on a roll, so is Max, for being a bigmouth. Although it turns out nothing bad happened (yet) from him telling Fausto where to find Lucio.
Way to go Ren! She is going to play a little dirty with Mac, I love it! Mac is so in the dark, and Ren is finally getting a clue about her. Fausto really played this card well, turning Ren against Mac, to his own advantage.
Meliton continued the Uncle Diego/Niece Abi story, but I'm sure that Vicenta told Bruno at his grave that it isn't true. And Meliton is usually in the know. This will probably resolve soon.
No more visions from Connie yet? I can't wait for her to be cured of her ranting.

Tn: Max is a big mouth and an ignorant one despite his upbringing.
As for Diego being Bruno's bastardo I can believe that was so. He may turn out to be Fausto's bastardo but we'd have had that play into the story somewhere before now IMO.
While Renata is the one supposedly in the dark, it is Macaria who has now taken up residence there. It's about time. And yes, TN4ever, Fausto turning Ren against Mac was inspired.
I have to say I wrongly (so what else is new) thought the tests might reveal something is wrong with Macaria. What kind of explanation can she possibly give?
I'm very annoyed with Mat right now. "Nope, he tells her, he’s got scruples". Even though he claims he doesn't want cake (Diana), he's eating it up nevertheless. And then on top of it, he has the nerve to tell her not to marry Diego because she is "his"? Blech.
Abi and Diego are a disaster waiting to happen of course. She can't get beyond lukewarm feelings for him. Yes, I'm certain this will end well!!
Thanks Jardinera!
Diana
By the way , i loved how Faust, Luc, Max and Julian played cards together and then when Barry was about to came , they had to hide them LOL. You know you gotta hate them like hell but i cant blame them , that scene was just too hilarious.
I also loved how Ren &Lucio toyed with Mac and Marc respectively , Mac has truly received a wonderful gift and Marc ? Well he"s stuck cause his wife draggged him by cajones to buy frutas at the market just like Luc said xD
If Luc gets to get offed at some point i hope his grave will get decorated by rotten strawberries!
Abi is not much better, either. She LETS the worm slime up against her any time he chooses. All she does is stare at him instead of kneeing him to keep him away. Then she finds him asleep on the couch and she "mi amors" him and wakes him up with caresses. WTH? Then she has the nerve to say that she's going to try to love Diego because he deserves it. What? No, he doesn't. She acts like she's some great prize Diego has been working for and now the princess deigns to reward him with her presence. Diego does NOT deserve her crumbs - her leftover feelings after someone (anyone) has interrupted her little, pathetic sessions with el idiota de Mateo. Diego deserves someone much, much better than Abi. Teodora, perhaps.
