Who are these people?
DC

Tierra. Based on last night's show, I would say that 2 plot lines have definitely reached their sell-buy dates: Pablo-Rocío and Paty-Ulises-stalking Samuel. Stop milking them! They're going sour!

Tierra. Loved Fernández's second-in-command's (Lt. Cabrera?) reaction to the Cayetano-Leonardo relationship, sort of on the order of "She's sleeping with her daughter's ex-husband? Ew." Of course, Cayetana should realize that that's how most of the world would react.

I've noticed that Ximena Herrera was on El Senor De Los Cielos, considering she was previously on HASTA EL FIN DEL MUNDO recently.

She's been doing double-duty with the TN's!

AVENIDA BRASIL

Does Carminha really feel bad about her past with 'Rita?' Or is she just acting that way in front of Nina and hoping to get rid of Rita?

~ Wee Rita

Tierra. OMG! Beatriz's homicidal housekeeper and butler are now working for Ulises?!

Avenida B
Wee Rita, I am pretty sure that Carminha doesn't feel at all bad about her past with Rita, and that she's just doing a superb job of faking her remorse. I say this in part because she's such a snake and in part because at one point she winks meaningfully at Nina while embracing Rita.

Avenida B
I should perhaps note that what I said about Carminha not feeling remorse, etc., was based on Monday's episode. I haven't yet seen Tuesday's.

Tierra. I expect everyone who saw it thoroughly enjoyed Leonardo Montalvo's beat down by the Del Junco sisters--the jerk had it coming for ordering the beating of a horse and then slugging Andrea when she protested. And of course his most current attempt to kill Arturo was another failure. But why do I get the feeling that somehow he has managed to transfer ownership of the Del Junco ranch to his own name, or else embezzle from it and bankrupt it while enriching himself?

AVENIDA BRASIL

HA! yeah, Carminha doesn't care, she just wants rid of Rita! I hadn't seen Tuesday's episode!
SuElen is a piece of work.

~ Wee Rita

Avenida

Seems like we're all playing catch up. Just saw tues episode today and won't be able to watch Wed episode until at least tomorrow.

Poor sweet Tifon, making himself nice for his wife and she says she doesn't like his new look.

I had to laugh when Monalisa said Suelen is like a horror movie, you think you've killed the monster but then it keeps coming back, Lol! I'm not a fan of Suelen but I thought it was interesting when she got onto that guy (can't remember his name) who was taking money from his mom for "college classes". She said something like if she had a mom like his she would treat her like a queen. What she should do is write a book, "How to string along several guys at the same time".

So Nina wins this round against Carmina. Took glee in seeing how Nina has her running around chasing false trails.

AVENIDA BRASIL

Yes, How could Carminha prefer Tifon in his ugly leisure suits and sweats?
Max is being a real jerk to Ivana, too.

~ Wee Rita

Avenida Brasil

Tifón isn't making himself over for his wife. He's doing it for Nina. If that wasn't clear before, it was last night when he bought her a dress.

So Rui is allergic to shrimp. Can you guess what is going to happen at the wedding?

Avenida Brasil

this is a tough show to keep track of who knows what so I thought I'd write down some reveals from last night.

Rita has been pampering Nilo, keeping his mouth full at all times, who seems to be ok with that, and she throws out that Carminha mentioned to Betina that she was raised in the tiradaro, is that true?

Nilo looks hesitant to give up info for free, but gives, yes she was.

but then he goes one more, Carmina is the true mother of Jorgito, which took Rita by surprise, and by round about logic, (if I got this right) Nilo is father to Max, who is father to Jorgito.

is Max father to Agata? Nilo doesn't know that one (but we do)

on a parallel line Jorgito is becoming obsessed with who his parents are, and in a dream sees his mother, but not her face, and rushes to Mama Lu's where she has kept his original clothes, including a bracelet with his real name, Christiano ??

TELEMUNDO... day,

according to zap2it.com "Una Maid en Manhattan" ends Fri, Jun. 26,
replaced on Monday by "Aurora" (2010)

btw Aurora was written by Marcela Citterio ("Reina de Corazones")
starring Eugenio Siller and Sara Maldonado
(NOT quite the Dragon nor Camelia la Texana).

but Jorge Luis Pila and Sonya Smith do make a lovely couple later on,
and Lisette Morelos ("La impostora") and Pablo Azar play it Hot.
and "Mónica Franco" (La Traición) is just plain nuts.

crazy show that broke some rules and paid the price.

Tierra. Whoa! Cayetana's hypocrisy has reached a jaw-dropping level! She deserves to have all her daughters move to the Gallardo ranch. Sofia and Irina were exactly right when they refused to take any more of her abuse and when they told her what is wrong with her. And kudos to don Felipe for standing up for Samuel!

Tierra de reyes
Todays episode was off the chain. Someone tell me the conversation btw (cayetana and Andrea) and (cayetana and sofia/irena). I dont speak spanish so im lost in translation

Tierra. Well, I don't recall all the details, but Cayetana was incensed with Andrea for being involved with Samuel. She told her that she was especially upset because she had thought of Andrea as being like her, focused on the ranch and the well-being of the Del Junco family, not like her 2 traitorous sisters. She said that she had planned to turn the ranch over to Andrea one day. She also repeated insults she had made against Samuel before, about being a fortune hunter, an evil man, a manipulator, etc. (She should talk). She also said some very antiquated but very Hispanic-literature stuff about the family honor, about Samuel defiling Andrea's purity by having sex with her, etc. I thought Samuel behaved in a remarkably restrained way by leaving, btw. Hitting Andrea and injuring her was way over the top, and in my opinion Sofia and Irina should have not allowed Andrea to talk them out of calling the emts, and they should have called the police too for domestic violence. Sofia and Irina yelled at Cayetana for hitting and injuring Andrea and then said that it was Cayetana and her attitudes that were the problem, not them. Good for them! I don't remember their exact words, but I thought it was great the way they stood up to her, and everything they said about her was exactly right on. Btw, it seems to me that this telenovela has a bit of an S&M problem--even more so than your average violent Telemundo telenovela.

Tierra. Cayetana also sort tried to give Andrea an out, by asking her to say that Samuel had seduced or even raped her, but Andre refused and said that she had always loved Samuel, even when he was going with Paty and when he was married to Beatriz. She had tried dating someone else, but it hadn't worked. She tells Cayetana that she hadn't been able to admit her feelings until Samuel was a widower.

Cayetana is a hypocrite. I don't why these grown women put up with that abuse both physical and mental. They need to move the hell out!

Tierra. Yep. And I re-looked at the confrontation, in Part 5 of the online version. Sofía and Irina confront Caye, with Sofía doing most of the talking. Basically, she asks Caye how she dared hit Andrea and what's up with her. Caye goes into her spiel about how Andrea deserved it, how she deceived and disappointed her, she had been the smartest of the 3, the only hope of the family, etc. Sofía says "Don't talk to us that way," and Irina says "we're daughters, not hope." Sofía then really lays in to her and tells her that Caye is beside herself (fuera de ti) and don't blame them for destroying the family. If anyone has destroyed the family it's Cayetana when she decided that her daughters had to be just like herself. The Sofía says "We're BETTER than you," and goes back upstairs, followed by Irina.

Tierra. Great jacket, though, Caye! I have one almost like it. :)

Tierra. And nice how Miranda has evolved into an infinitely better person. Has anyone else noticed how much she looks like Carly Fiorina, one of the contenders for the Republican nomination for president? And she and Soledad have now dropped so many hints, that if Verónica can't figure out who her parents were, she's even less bright than she has seemed up to this point.

Tierra
Ok, so now that everybody knows that Cayetana & Leo are an item, can the girls finally move out?
Isn't there an apartment in Houston somewhere they could live in?

Also SpanProf while you're answering questions :) - I missed what happened to Andrea's back - how did it get cut, what did Caye do to her?

deb
thanks for the news on aurora
sounds interesting

Tierra. Hi, Sneaky! Welcome back. As nearly as I could tell (and remember), Andrea hit her back against a rock when Cayetana hit her and knocked her down.

Cielos

I know there's a few of you out there still watching, so...How much do we love Rivera? So nice to finally see a good man. It's a low bar to reach on this show, with all the murdering rapist drug dealers, but still. He's adorable and I hope he gets Rutila out of this life.

Kelly

ps. Recaptcha is getting lazy: "Pick all the drinks".

TELEMUNDO...

capitulos as of friday,

"Avenida Brasil" 52 of 160 (international release was cut from 179 on original run)
"Tierra de Reyes" 133
"El Señor de los Cielos" 39 (season 1 was 74, 2 was 84)

Thanks, deb, for the statistics on the telemundo novelas. I had hoped that Avenida was further along than it apparently is. I'm not at all sure I can/will stick it out for over 100 more episodes. I guess it depends on what else will be starting, either on telemundo or, as a last resort, univision.
