Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, Capitulo 38 Thu 09-03-2015, : No one's going down without a fight

Max goes to speak to Ivana about MD’s case. Dan takes great pleasure in pointing out that he’s now in charge at Ivana’s office…”but only if I’m not here,” Ivana reminds him, strolling up and bursting his self-important bubble.

Isela patches Fermin’s cut and gives him some of the money from her wedding fund to buy new statues, all the while Josefa’s complaining and protesting. Once Fermin leaves, Jo, having seen the cash Isela just gave out, asks for some money. Nope. Bank Isela is closed. And if Jo doesn’t call the insurance company and confess that she lied, the Vengeance Plan is over too. “You wouldn’t do that to me,” Josefa asks, aghast. “I already did” Isela replies. “I told Caludio everything.” Unfortunately, she just means that she told Claudio Jo’s never liked Orlando. Finally, Josefa blurts that it was either Orlando or her! She confesses that she caused Leo’s accident.

Max confronts Ivana and Dan about the intimidation tactics Jacinto used on the shop lady. Dan says this has nothing to do with the lawsuit and if Max wants to defend MD, he’d better bring proof. Ok, Max heads off to get some. After he leaves, Ivana decides to show her hand a little: she knows that Dan, not MD, stole the dress. Dan, of course, denies everything, but Ivana tells Dan that the dress store clerk told her lawyers what happened.

Josefa claims she didn’t want to hurt Leo (yes, dropping a car on his prone body was a sign of affection, I’m sure.) No, she was just trying to scare him and get him to leave. Isela, horrified, concludes that she did this to blame Orlando, thus getting him out of the way. Josefa denies it, claiming that when the insurance investigators came, she just threw it out there because she was scared. Isela’s the one that’s scared now. She knew her mom was bad, but she didn’t think she was capable of this! She starts to leave, but Jo physically holds her back, hugging her from behind and trying to defend herself. “Things got out of hand…I did it for you. I did it all for you-“ Isela doesn’t buy Jos’s spiel and throws off her embrace. “No you didn’t do it for me! You’ve never done anything for me!” Tearful, she says she’ll never take her sister’s place, will she. Josefa admits that no, she won’t, but she promises that when the Vengeance Plan is over, everything will be different. She’ll be different. Isela tells her she won’t let her hurt Orly anymore. Jo asks if she’d put Orly over her own mother. Isela looks conflicted. (I’m not. The choice is between a man who’s loved, respected and supported you pretty much your whole life and your physically and emotionally abusive, homicidal, maniacal mother (or “mother”). Man, the ties that bind are so strong!)

Dan claims MD asked him to get rid of the dress out of revenge because Gerry dared to ask for MD’s job back after Ivana fired her. That makes little sense, but Ivana points out that even if it did, Dan was dating Ivana at the time. He knew how much it would hurt her and her company and did it anyway. Ok, Dan admits it was a mistake. But all that’s over now and he’s trying to make it up to her. How? By getting the dress clerk to accuse MD so that she gets arrested.

MD’s on the phone with Max explaining that the rental contract is in Dan’s name. Because MD paid him back for the rental in cash, she’s not sure she can prove that she paid for everything. Max offers to help after he takes care of some stuff, but MD doesn’t want to bother him with this.

Honoria comes home and sees her broken altar statues on the table. Fermin comes in, still wearing the same alcohol soaked clothes. Before he can explain, Honoria jumps to the expected conclusion: Fermin got drunk and broke her things. She physically throws him out of the house, screaming that she never wants to see him again. The noise brings neighbors out, including Isela, who explains what happened. Honoria casts an appalled look at Josefa before racing after Fermin.

Gerry shows Ivana the dresses that Jacinto took from Shop Lady. He fills Ivana in on the fact someone (cough::obviously Dan::cough) offered Arango a job and (and he’s demanding an office to go with it). Arango’s first brilliant idea is to pretend MD’s rejuvenated designs are works from Ivana Duval. Ivana asks for Gerry's opinion about the dresses. He admits they’re not bad. He kind of hates some of the details, but on the whole they’re okay. Ivana tells him to fix the details and send those dresses and some of their own to the rental shop. She wants to give MD a taste of her own medicine.

Clara comes home, super happy because Leo’s parents have invited them to dinner. Esperanza’s not enthused, but the girls point out how unhappy she was about MD hiding her relationship with Dan. She admits they have a point. Group hug!

Ivana comes home to find her aunt supervising the maids in clearing out the nursery. When a horrified Ivana asks what they’re doing, Susana says that now she’ll have room for the wedding gifts that will come rolling in. Ivana goes ballistic, snatching up stuffed animals and screaming for them to get out of the room!

The insurance people come by the Bustamante house to question Leo. He refuses to talk to them.

Ivana gives up on supervising the maids putting everything back in the nursery. They’re not doing it right! Get out! Don’t clean in here ever again! She’s crying, two stuffed bears clutched to her, when someone knocks. She storms to the door, already yelling that she told everyone to leave her alone…but it’s Daniel. He asks if he’s allowed in right now, After all, it was his son too, and the memory hurts him as well. He hugs her, but her only reaction is so ask if his mom and sister are downstairs. When he confirms that they are, she leaves the room. He glances around briefly. Now that she’s not there, we can see on his face that it was all an act. He doesn’t care about the baby at all.

Claudio tells Leo that the insurance people think Orly was responsible for the “accident” because Josefa accused him. He promises not to take action against Orly and asks Leo not to be mad at his mom. She’s just worried about his safety. Alma listens at the doorway.

Mal expresses her condolences for the baby. Ursula admonishes her for it, but she points out she hasn’t had a chance to talk to Ivana since the miscarriage. Susana says it’s not a problem since her niece just loves to think about losing her baby all the time. Ivana defends herself. “What’s wrong with wanting to remember her child’s death?” Nothing, Ursula assures her. She’s more concerned with the press thinking Ivana’s still pregnant, but Ivana says to let them speculate. They’ll figure it out; they already know she and Dan got married, since he went making big announcements to her staff. Well, he couldn’t very well take over with only fiancé status, right? Ivana agrees. This is why she wants Dan to move in and the wedding date to move up.

MD tells her mom and Clara that she and Max are dating. Clara’s over the moon!. Espy…yeah, not so much.

Ursula tries to schedule a time to talk to Dan, but he’s too busy crassly insinuating that he’s heading to a strip club and shoving Maleny to pay much attention. Ursula suggests he celebrate with Ivana, but Dan ‘s not down with that plan. Ursula warns him that he’s got to be on his game; it’s all been luck so far. Mal’s off to see Alma.

Clara gushes over the Max and MD news. MD asks her mom what she thinks. Espy thinks that MD’s a grown woman. She’s already lived with a man (that she thought was her husband). She just doesn’t want MD to make a mistake again. MD says she wants to do things differently this time. They hug it out.

Alma admonishes Mal for telling Max she was asking about the shop on Alma’s behalf. Mal apologizes. Alma says she’s really worried about the situation. Mal asks if she means Isela, and Alma says no. She explains Isela and Claudio’s closeness by telling Mal that Isela was raped.

Dan and Arango plot. Arango’s been scoping out offices and Dan wants to announce his arrival at a meeting Ivana’s arranged for that afternoon. The rental lady’s husband calls to see what Dan wants to do next. Dan says to wait and see what MD does.

Alma further explains that Claudio’s been like a father to Isela since he found out about the rape. She and Mal think Isela’s the only good one in the neighborhood. Alma doesn’t get why Isela’s marrying Orly and she (Alma) is torn on what to do. Claudio said he’d stop Leo from going back to work in the mechanic shop and get him to break up with Clara, but then he approved this family meet and greet dinner! Mal is alarmed: this will give MD a chance to spend time with Max! Nope, Alma says. Mal’s going to be at that dinner.

MD goes to Ivana’s offices to talk with Dan. She almost leaves, but maintains her backbone. Max meets her there, having found out where she was from her mom. Dan comes out with Arango, who excuses himself. Dan asks Max what he’s doing there and Max says he wants Dan to sign an agreement turning the tailor shop rental over to MD. Dan reminds MD that he’s on her side (gag) and will do whatever it takes to support her (gag again), so-and this is his main point- she doesn’t need Max’s help. Whatever , he agrees to sign, which is the important part.

Alma’s still befuddled by Claudio’s stance on Orlando. Maleny thinks they can approach Orlando directly.

MD is so tired of Dan. Max agrees, but they can’t let him rile them. He wants MD to promise not to confront him on her own again. She hugs him. Dan returns as they’re pulling apart and eyes them suspiciously. Max reviews the document and signature. Now that that’s over, he tells Dan that he’s MD’s boyfriend so Dan better stay away from her if he knows what’s good for him. “You sure got over me quickly, huh?” says THE MARRIED GUY. Max and MD leave. Dan starts to follow but Gerry shoves him back into the office. He’s SUPER PISSED. He doesn’t want to see MD in these offices again and he definitely doesn’t want Dan acting the fool over MD in front of Ivana. “She is your WIFE and you WILL respect her!” (Your recapper swoons. The longer I watch Gerry, the more I love him. No offense to G. Soto, but Gerry's heading up the galan camp for me right now.)

Max and MD go to lunch. MD wants to be done with both Dan and Ivana. Max swears protection and love. MD says she loves him too (WHAT?! No big lead up?! Isn’t this the first time she’s said it?! WHOA!) Anyway, there’s much kissing.

Alma and Mal go to Orlando’s. Alma’s nervous about doing this without Claudio knowing, but ni modo. Orlando argues that Josefa’s lying, but Alma just doesn’t want Leo back in the mechanic shop. She won’t pursue legal action if he denies Leo when he asks to come back, and pays her back what she and Claudio have spent (what? Why? I thought part of the deal with that he wouldn’t have to pay hospital bills. Now it’s just that they won’t press charges?) Anyway, Orlando despondently agrees.

Ivana thanks her head staff for stepping in to keep things running while she was sick and for welcoming Dan so nicely when he stepped in for her. He’s very interested in the ins and outs of the business. So much so that he wants to get to know it even better by working as a regular employee, from the bottom up! (This moment is SO SATISFYING.)

Doris and Orlando discuss his situation. Doris runs into Isela and pleads with her to get her mom off Orlando’s back. Isela takes off.

Ivana lets Arango know they won’t need his services (she’s so smooth here, she shoots  way up on my list). Dan leaves without a word. Gerry is surprised but super happy that she hasn’t been taken in by Daniel; he was worried for a bit. He tells Ivana that MD and Max are dating and Dan just found out about it.

MD wants to talk to Julian about dating Max. He tells her to keep her chin up, Julian will understand. Much kissing ensues.

Dan throws a huge tantrum in Ivana’s office about her “humiliating” announcement. “What? You thought I’d let you have control over my multimillion dollar company when you have no idea how it works?” (OMG. The logic is so strong, I swoon again for love of the logic.) Dan is pissed she didn’t tell him in private. Ivana shoots back that he’s only humiliated because he doesn’t know what it is to work so he doesn’t find pride or nobility in doing a job. She showed her team that she appreciates their work and experience by making him start out like anybody else, rather than employing nepotism (true. And smart. Nice to see a President/CEO-type who actually makes shrewd business decisions). She’s sorry this “bad” news came on the heels of the “bad” news about Max and MD.

Doris runs into Max on her way to see MD and Julian. He admires her necklace (the one Ari gave her). It’s great…he gave Mal one just like it. He leaves and Doris is devastated again.

Dan tells Ivana she’s wrong. MD’s just pretending with Max to make him jealous. She’ll sleep with Max the way she slept with him, to make Max solve all of her problems. But MD has something Dan wants, something he wants to give Ivana as a wedding present…He starts making out with Ivana, who looks both disgusted and confused.

MD sees Julian at his office. He advises her to get a microloan to continue to finance the tailoring shop, including some training because she knows nothing about computers. Julian says she’ll have it down in no time. MD praises his drive and accomplishments. He tells her she’s the motor that pushes him to be better every day. (…awkward.) Just then Ester (the secretary) tells them that Doris left to do something.

Leo and Max are hanging out in his office. Leo thinks the dinner date will be interesting since Max will be introducing MD as his girlfriend. Julian and MD come in. Hon called Julian because she can’t find Fermin. Max offers to drive them home, but Julian says they’ll catch a cab.

Isela bursts into Claudio’s office. Claudio tells her she can’t just bounce out of work; she has to learn to separate work from personal stuff. She’s been fired as a result. Oh really? Isela thought maybe he fired her because he was pissed she said she loved Orlando. She gives him a check. It’s an advance on Orlando’s hospital bill debt. He scoffs that she’s paying him with his own money. “No. This is your money.” She throws down a bank receipt and tells him she’s already transferred the money he put in her account back to him. Then she turns on her heel and is gone. Claudio lost that round and he knows it.

Mal pulls up to her house. As the car gate opens, Doris strolls in front of the car, the stolen necklace swinging from her fingers.

Sorry for the late cap, guys. Page break inserted. Full recap up. Have at it!

Hellashelle--The coffee was delicious, so was your recap. I'm glad the characters are perfectly drawn in my head, so it doesn't take much to flesh them out and their behavior with your words, talented lass that you are. Nuances and straight talk in balanced combination.

I completely missed Max admiring Doris' necklace and wondered how she had figured it out. So glad she was prepared. If Maleny had seen it first. Doris would surely have been accused of theft--or catfight ensued, though Mal would have known right away it was Ari.

So the good guys put a lot of points on the board last night. Ivana made me proud, starting Dan at the bottom AND of Max who was there with MD to make sure Dan couldn't lie about receiving the cash for the rental place. It can only mean the bad guys are going to redouble their efforts.

Did anyone NOT think the wedding gift Dan is going to give Ivana is MD's non-existent baby when he mentioned something MD had that Dan wanted? Unless the lab is also wrong about a pregnancy.

Susana is a real metiche. She had some nerve. Let Ivana grieve, for heaven's sakes. It has only been a few days.

It must have been Wed, then, when Ivana told Dan they would make up for having lost their baby by trying again--lots and lots of times. The look on Dan's face thinking about the prospect was perfect.

So, they were living apart, but now even Ursula thinks they ought to be living under the same roof--how can Grrrsula be able to control him if he's not under her nose--ahh...bet she's going to move in, too.

That was so childish of Dan & Maleny to be pushing and shoving each other while Mamma talked. I got a good laugh out of it--the writers and the actors are definitely telling us these two are a pair of immature twits, and Mamma is no better mother than a fish.

Yay for Doris. Ari is going to get killed by his skinny lover Maleny!! He's a punk!! Just whay is it between Dan and Mal....disgusting!!

I loved Max telling Dan about him and MD!! Dan's even worse than Ari!! And I just love Ivana> She's really giving it to Dan.

Helle, thanks for a superb recap. Loved every minute of it.

Ann-NYC

Great, Hellashelle

Ari definitely is bucking for a Darwin Award. Maleny is BSC and he shouldn't be anywhere near her.

And she is paranoid about all other women when nobody but Ari could have stolen that necklace.

Ivana needs to wake up to the fact that MD has been as much a victim of Danny-Boy as she's been.

UA--At this point I think Ari is definitely repenting his affair with Mal. He's tried to end it on several occasions, only to be threatened again with exposure and loss of his job. He seems to be a bit weak-willed about the whole thing and hasn't thought of a plan to extricate himself. Doris knowing about Maleny and Maleny knowing about Doris (sort of) doesn't help him.

Thanks, hellashelle. Great title and recap.

My favorite scenes: Gerry lighting into Dan and Ivana putting Dan in his rightful place at the bottom.

Yuckiest scene: Dan kissing Ivana.

So Alma is inviting ex-girlfriend Mal to the family dinner with MD’s family? That is so low.

Thanks Hellashelle, enjoyable as always.

Ivana was a total winner yesterday putting Danny boy in his place.

Anita Did anyone NOT think the wedding gift Dan is going to give Ivana is MD's non-existent baby when he mentioned something MD had that Dan wanted? Unless the lab is also wrong about a pregnancy Could be...I was wondering what in the world he was talking about. I'm glad that Max was with her to see the results the lab gave her.

So Isa's conscience was in working order last night. Wonder how long that'll last.

Thank you Hellashelle, and thank you Countx for yesterday, I didn't get a chance to comment then.

I now have a love/hate relationship with Isela. I hated her 2 days ago, now I love her. She really stood up and showed she does have some integrity after all. And paying Claudio back was the best.

In my opinion, I thought for the first time that Susanna was actually trying to be nice by cleaning out the nursery. Yesterday, she overheard Ivana in the nursery crying over her loss, and I think that Susanna thought she was helping by removing the stuff.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Dan has an actual plan? He seems to be flying by the seat of his pants. He first says he's going to mess with MD over the rental of the space, then he signs the paper because he was stuck in a bad place. I think the same thing will hold true for Ivana's BD present. He has no real plan but hopes to get some inspiration soon.

Hellashelle, you're so funny about your love of Jerry. He definitely is acting like a galan, too bad he doesn't have the looks to go with it. And it was so satisfying when Ivana stated Dan will work from the bottom, and even lined up the managers to help him. But letting Arango know that he won't be needed was just as satisfying to me.

I hope Fermin did't go drinking.

LOVED Doris taunting Maleny with the necklace. That hurt Mal and Ari.

Hellashelle
Great, great recap. Just loved it!

3 Wonder women in this episode:
♡ MD finally having a lawyer (Max) go head to toe with Dan. And don't forget those great kisses!!. Didn't they win the best kiss award in Los Premios, even over AB & SR in LQLVMR?

♡ Doris--love that girl--quick wit, realizing the origin of the necklace and taunting Maleny so quickly and appropriately. Doris is very quick on the draw sometimes.

♡ Ivana starting to carry out her revenge plan against Daniel, it's just too bad MD will get caught up in it. But I just loved the look on Dan's face when Ivana said he would start from the bottom of the ladder. And of course he couldn't pout in a board meeting.

Witch of the episode, Urusla. This women is mentally sick.

Hey guys, sorry to have posted late, then fled. Lotta work today.

Thanks Anita - YES!! the good guys really gained some ground yesterday. SO nice to see in a TN before the last 5 seconds! And yeah, Ari needs to find a new job and tell him about Mal from jump street.

Thanks Ann-NYC - Ikr! I also loved how Max waited for the signature then told Dan about him and MD. But part of me would've liked for it to have been a secret longer, just because now Dan's bound to ramp up the plotting and Max and MD could use some drama free time to build their love. Ah well.

Thanks UA - Ivana doesn't want to believe it. She's had too many years of resentment and anger building up inside her and MD is the perfect target. She skinny and pretty, which Ivana's been told her whole life she isn't, but should be. She got everything Ivana wanted (family, boyfriend) without having to do anything. She's poor, which is happily looked down upon in Ivana's circles and she's at Ivana's mercy.

Thanks Niecie - IKR!!! I honestly could kick myself for assuming they'd make Gerry gay. He is Ivana's Prince Charming, no doubt. If not, he's totally mine. I LOVE a good best friends turn to lovers story.

Thanks jilk - Isela is the most conflicted character ever. She doesn't know what she wants or who she is, poor thing. She's simultaneously strong and weak, evil and god, loathsome and likeable. Not an easy task. Good job Fabiola!

Thanks cathyx - I also thought Susana was trying to be nice. Then she made that comment about wedding presents and I was like nvm, she's still being evil. I beg to differ on your take on Jerry. He doesn't have Max's chiseled face, but I like it. And "dem arms doe!" Mmm...Plus, he's an artist. Just thinking of him sketching, shading lightly here, drawing bold, firm lines there...methinks he could be excellent with his hands ;)

Thanks Victoria - I need a tee shirt that says Doris is my homegirl. It was Lola from Sombra, but she disappointed in the end. Doris looks like she'll stay true blue through and through. I dig her fierceness and I love her colors.

Thank you for the fantastic recap Hellashelle!

I think Isela is an interesting character too, she does bad things but isn't inherently evil, yet she can obviously tell right from wrong so we can't excuse her actions as part of a mental illness. However, growing up with Josefa has certainly damage her.

Ivana's treatment of Daniel is satisfying in many ways but she would be happier if she'd let go of her anger and would get all the Santibañez away from her. What she plans for MD is very unfair.

Daniel is hilarious thinking he can judge MD for moving on with Max. His sense of entitlement over her is dangerous though.

Jarocha

Thanks for the recap Hellashelle

Ivana is amazing in this episode, she is just misguided in her quest to punish MD for something she probably knows subconsciously she is not responsible for. Maybe Gerry can convince her not to go through with it. Gerry on the other hand is a great person hopefully Ivana realizes that and finds happiness with him.

Iron Ore

Thank you Hellashelle!
