I can do Friday.

Denise

Muchísimas gracias, Denise.

What stood out
Without going into too much detail for anyone who hasn't seen it yet:

• Rick set up Isa. It got really creepy involving a stranger, sexy lingerie and a mask. I'm still nauseous.

• Rick thinks about sending it to Isa's dad in exchange for cash, but he's got plenty of that. What he really wants is to sabotage the wedding plans.

• Titina and her mother are off to Zacatecas.

• Titina's brother are off to intimidate Sebas.

• Anto wants the Sensor Crew to be checked/supervised. Nelson advises Pedro. Pedro explodes

• Bruno is starting his hydroponics class. He's got it bad for Laura.

• Cheo/Sara/Anto/Serenade/Shenanigans

Finally made it back to a computer
This season is busier than usual for me, on top of the regular stuff (work, volunteering) I'm trying to take care of harvesting and preserving stuff - got a big yard and a family w/dietary restrictions so I've been making tomato sauce and taking care of the plums and grapes these past couple of weeks(think I'm going to make raisins this yr, I'm soo sick of trying to make wine and it doesn't work and I have to throw the whole thing out *&%$##) (sorry I get frustrated just thinking about it)

__

So, back to the show, Denise love your Fri recap now that I've finally had a chance to read it - I didn't even get that they were betting on his own game but now that you mention it, that is weird

----
I could try to recap today, if you want, but since I didn't take notes it might not be much more than your list Sara ( which is going to be such a help to my remembering what happened)

No worries, sneaky! If you want to you can, but don't stress over it.

---
We enjoy your comments whenever you can stop by. I don't want this to ever feel like a chore to anyone.
---
Please share raisin reports when you try it. Do you have a dehydrator? Is that what you're planning?

Same goes for you too, Vivi, Kat and Denise. Please don't ever feel like this is an obligation or chore. Please have fun.

ok Part 1
This stuff is out of order and to the best of my memory
Feel free to correct or fill in

Tonio asks why Isa is dining w/Ric

Isa says ‘oh I was just here w/(chick from the gallery, name?) and we saw Ric here and he said hey and we’re eating together now, no biggie’
Tonio and Sebas get suspicious about why Isa and Ric are such good friends that they lunch together and Sebas thinks it’s cause Isa is helping Nata meet w/Ric behind his back ( which is what he really deserves, but nope and for Nata’s sake I’m glad)
Later he calls Nata and questions her about it and so now she knows Isa saw Ric today and she calls her to chew her out but Isa doesn’t have time for that so hangs up on her

(this is out of order but I want to get it over with because ugh) ( I would RPC but it may have important plot points) (if you’re squeamish you might want to skip the next paragraph though)

And heads over to the hotel room Ric called and told her to meet him at ( I kinda left out the Isa begging Ric for another chance at lunch scene ‘cause that wasn’t good for anyone, but she said she’d do anything he wanted and he said he’d think of something and call her and he did, w/a hotel rm number)
Once she gets there, there’s a black negligee on the bed and Ric calls her and tells her to put it and the eye mask on and wait for him on the bed (seriously I’m cringing as I type this *shudder*)
Ric comes in with a stranger (who is not bad to look at but gives me the creeps)
Stranger takes off his clothes and joins Isa on the bed and Ric takes pics w/his phone till Isa realizes something’s up and pushes the guy away and yells at Ric, who dismisses, and pays the guy (seriously Sara did you just say you can’t recap anymore so you didn’t have to do this? )
Ric tells Isa he will give the pics to Tonio and there’s some screaming and taunting and stuff and ya! Done (ugh)

Or not quite, Isa later calls Tonio to cry over the phone and tell him never to doubt she loves him( I doubt she loves him, he should too) This causes Tonio to have a worried look on his face and tell her he will try to get back to the DF this weekend

Part 2

So Cheo goes to see Sara and crowd her and when she calls him on his insecurity, he tells her the best way to make him feel secure is to marry him tout de suite. She says how can I marry you if you don’t trust me, he gets mad and storms off and Sara and Rosa discuss his personality disorder(s)
When Cheo gets back to work his bud give him the news about picking up trucks out of town this wkend and refuses to cover for him this time.
Sad/Mad Cheo.

Antonio tells Rafa he wants to double check, actually triple check since Rafa checks the computer and then they still are going to do something else too, the gas sensor thingie (I really don’t know what exactly) and when Rafa tells the gang of three –Nelson Pepe and our Hot head hottie ( still love this description) Ramon, they get all upset about how Tonio doesn’t trust them. Nelson starts the fuss, probably trying to cover himself and later calls Pedro to tell him to stop draining the pipes or they’ll get caught. Pedro of course wants him to put a stop to the double check but Nelson says there’s nothing he can do. Pedro stops just short of saying ‘then you aren’t much use to me alive, are you’ but looks like he’s thinking it.

Titina acts like a fifteen yr old when her fam makes her go w/her mom to visit an aunt
‘I hate you all, you will be responsible for my being an old maid’ (how old is she?)
The bros go to torment Sebas (good, he deserves it)

Bruno puts up a flyer for his hydroponics class and answers questions of some passers by why might be interested and then goes to show Laura what she needs to start a hydroponic garden and sign her up,since she is fer sure interested
When Laura gets home late she interrupts a phone call between Pedro and Carmelo? wherein Pedro is telling Carmelo to stop draining and Carmelo is all well if they’re not checking till tomorrow am we can keep going tonight and just stop before morning. Pedro is kinda shook up by events and doesn’t even get after her for being late just suggestively says he want to go to bed

Part 3

Sebas is going over to Nacho’s place but Tonio has an important meeting tomorrow to prepare for so he’ll work late and then go to bed early.
At Nacho’s Nacho is just closing up since there aren’t any customers and Sebas helps him close so they can go get a beer somewhere else.
The somewhere else turns out to be the bar where Sebas broke up w/Titina’s bros and when the bros follow him there and try to go in and get him the owner not only stops them telling them he don’t want no more trouble, he also warns Sebas and Nacho they’re waiting
Nacho has a plan
Apparently the plan is to call Quintin to come protect them
Quintin eyeballs the bros on his way in and tells Sebas and Nacho they’re still there
Also he gets a call on his radio about a ruckus at Tonio’s apt bldg.

Which is
Cheo shows up w/mariachis and speakers to serenade Sara
Tonio trying to sleep since he has an important meeting in the morning is woken up
Sara trying to make Cheo suffer, won’t go out on the balcony and talk to him and so she is making everyone else suffer too
Cheo tries again, louder
Tonio goes out and tells Cheo to cool it or he’ll do it for him
Sara’s family members entreat her to go out already, since Cheo is waking the neighbors
Sara is terca
Simon is firm
Sara goes out to talk to Cheo
Tonio goes on to the balcony w/a bucket of water and throws the whole thing on Cheo, bucket and all
The water shorts out the speakers
Power for the bldg. goes out
All the neighbors are mad at not Cheo, not Sara, but Tonio
Tonio says whatever dudes I regret nothing, but I’ll pay the damages, and goes off to answer a call from Isa
And now they all think he’s the same onery and stuck up guy he was in the beginning

Quintin takes Nacho and Sebas out of the bar in handcuffs right past the bros and puts them in his car, he even slaps Sebas as he gets in heh
The bros don’t care why Chebi was arrested they still have a score to settle w/him

So that's it

Sara I was only joking about that you only said you couldn't recap to get out of doing today's
I kept wondering if I should just leave the yucky part out, but I think its going to come up again later, and maybe this way other people will be able to just ff> that whole scene

-----
Sebas and Nacho - I didn't know you could get the police to pretend to arrest you to get you out of a tight spot

Sara - yeah I have a dehydrator but its dinky, I don't know if it will work on grapes, but it works on plums so it should be ok. Wish I had a freeze dryer but they co$$t.

Sneaky- Thanks so much! Wow. Things were getting all 50 Shades of Ric in that hotel room, then they took another twisted and sinister turn when that other dude showed up too. Blech!

I laughed hard when that bucket of water hit Cheo in the head. Just what he needed. I kind of like that Tonio didn't give a damn that he'd shorted out the power too.

Sneaky, you're the greatest for pitching in with a fun recap!

I loved " he tells her the best way to make him feel secure is to marry him tout de suite. She says how can I marry you if you don’t trust me, he gets mad and storms off and Sara and Rosa discuss his personality disorder(s)" Yes!

I can't imagine what is going to happen now btw Isa,Ric and Antonio, and what Ric is going to end up doing with his photos.

You are awesome, sneaky!

"seriously Sara did you just say you can’t recap anymore so you didn’t have to do this?"

LOL. No that's not why...but I guess an added bonus.

Pedro is kinda shook up by events and doesn’t even get after her for being late just suggestively says he want to go to bed"

I found Pedro's "suggestively says he want...be" just as creepy as Rick's hotel set up. I know we've talked about the two actors being uncle and nephew...the uncle must be giving the nephew tips on how to be creepy.

Has anyone noticed that the Rick actor has grown is pinkie nail longer than the rest? EW. In character...but ew.
------
Can't wait for you raisin report, sneaky!

Sara- Yeah. He's used that pinky nail to pick his teeth a few times. So gross.

I guess I just didn't notice how long it had gotten. So gross.

I feel really awful for Isa. I don't want her with Anto and she's stuck up, but she doesn't deserve this. :-(

The contrasts we have here are really odd to me.

Not bad odd. Just such different stories. Like "Hahaha OVNIs. Cute. Oh wait, what's that creepy guy doing in Isa's room and ew Rick is taking pictures. Hahaha Titina's brothers are being menacing. Whew, Pedro didn't beat up Laura."

Sara- Yes. I prefer when they stay away from the dark stuff. That's why appreciate we don't see Pedro and Laura at home very often. Although i love seeing Laura and Bruno making moon eyes at each other, I know it will be followed by a scene of Laura being menaced by Pedro.

Speaking of that, I really liked the scene where Bruno admitted his feelings for Laura to Sara, and she took his hand.

Yes. That was a very good scene. Bruno is another actor I am impressed with. I'm impressed with all the performances in this, actually.

I can do Thursday.

Sara, I read your highlights before I watched the episode, which was a good thing! Got me mentally prepared for the horror of Isa, Ric, and the random dude. Gross! Thanks for the warning.

sneaky two shoes, that sounds frustrating to end up with vinegar when you were expecting wine. I wish you luck with the raisins!

Thanks for the Monday recap, sneaky!

I feel bad for Natalia. She's really trying to help Isa, and Isa is determined to self-destruct. Ric really is like an addiction for her. And the only thing worse than that *barf* hotel scene is I'm still afraid she's going to keep going after Ric. Screw it--I hope he sends the pictures to her dad. Isa's dad has always seemed a little shady. Maybe he'll have Ric killed. I can live with that.

"‘I hate you all, you will be responsible for my being an old maid’ (how old is she?)" And how few guys are there in this town? Because, come on, she may be a bunny boiler, but she IS cute...so how come she didn't have an entourage of dudes following her around at all times. Did the brothers scare them off?

"Bruno puts up a flyer for his hydroponics class" OK, I do know this isn't the only thing hydroponics is good for, but every time someone talks about it, I think of pot. I watched too much Weeds.

When it comes to Cheo, mariachi is never the answer. Never. Not one more time, Cheo. Not even one.

Sara, I hate that pinky nail! I see what you mean about the contrasts. But I think they're doing a good job of keeping the overall tone light, even though we have the very real menace of Pedro and the things we know he's done and is doing.

Thanks for putting a positive spin on the Rick blackmail story. I could live with Guillermo taking care of Rick, too.

And thank you for taking Thursday, Kat!

I'm going to watch the episode tonight and try to put up highlights later or in the morning. I hope that's OK.

Like you said, Sara, have fun and don't treat it like a chore :D I'm happy with whatever you can do, whenever you can do it.

I'm still in the middle of the episode, but feeling particularly appalled at Pedro being the most reasonable guy in the room when he's with his criminal buddies...but then effin' whining about how much the shutdown is "costing" him when he's a THIEF! He's not entitled to take whatever he wants! And, no, he doesn't get to whine about anti-theft measures, either.

Well, I'm still without Internet and Mr Me is watching TV, so who knows if I'll get to it tonight. (cause I'm totally hogging the TV for Lichita.)

But I have to see Pedro being the most reasonable. That's scary.

Thanks guys and you're welcome

Vivi- I liked unrepentant Antonio too, Cheo totally had it coming

------
Denise- I really think Cheo must have some kind of disorder, to go from the sweet guy ProtaSara describes and we got to see briefly to the jealous caveman he usually seems to be
-------

Sara - recap or highlights whenever you can if you can is fine, we're tough

Yeah Pedro is creepy, every time he acts reasonable or we don't have to see him at his worst I'm so relieved and feel like we got off easy, I can only imagine that's how Laura feels too x10
Tips on being creepy, I hope that's what it is and not just naturally occurring ;)

-------

Diva- I wish I ended up with vinegar, I'd use it for cooking even if I didn't dare use it for dressing, but no such luck, the stuff just goes moldy
re Titina I bet every guy in that town not only knows her brothers but also her personality and keep their distance
Don't feel bad about thinking of pot when you hear hydroponics, the same thing happens to me with grow lights, I know they can be totally innocent but the other day I was walking past a place that sold them and started wondering what percentage of their sales were used illicitly

-----
raisin update day 2 - Still look like grapes, some of them are looking suspiciously dark (they're green grapes) but when I taste them they taste ok so maybe these ones are drying out faster

Sneaky- Good luck with your raisin making. How cool!

Today felt like a setup episode, although sh*t got real between Isa and Ric when she pulled a gun on him and tried to force him to give her the photos.

How about that scene in the elevator? It was pretty original the way the writers didn't let us see what happened in there until later in the episode.

Denise

Denise- I really liked the way they did that. We were just as perplexed about the tension between Sara and Tonio when those elevator doors opened as Simon was. Then we found out much later about the kiss. Wish they had been stuck in there longer. :)

Nelson is lucky that his friends trust him so much. Otherwise, they would have figured out a long time ago that he's the snitch. Pepe is getting there.

Sara, I think that's what makes Pedro so scary, how he's calm and calculated.

Awww, sneaky, that does sound diappointing. I really hope you end up with raisins. Hahaha...you said "grow lights" and yep, had the same thought.

Denise, that was really well done with the reveal of the elevator scene.

Vivi, maybe Isa would have been more successful if she'd aimed the gun somewhere else.

I kinda hate how it's different now than back in the good old days where if you had the negatives you could be reasonably certain the pictures weren't going to pop up somewhere else. But with digital, I don't know how anyone is ever sure. He could hand over his phone and let her delete the pictures, but if it's set up to automatically upload to the cloud?

Yeah, my pics automatically go to the cloud. Isa would not have been able to assure she got it all, even if he had handed over his phone.

That's just scary. And it's all well and good to say you should only ever get drunk or naked around people you trust, but you don't necessarily know who you can't trust until they pull a Ric.

I had to laugh when I saw Cheo packing that box of candles and trying to decide if he should take the petals off the roses now or later for his romantic getaway with Sara. How many times have we watched a scene in a tn where a galan seems to put together one of these romantic settings with millions of candles and rose petals out of thin air, and we've wondered if there was some kind of kit? Now we know there is, and Cheo was putting one together!

He could pull the petals off now. And stash them in ziploc bags in the cooler with the champagne. 'Cause if you're gonna have candles and rose petals, you've gotta have champagne!

I always assumed galanes just called ahead to whatever hotel and told them "Hey, make the room extra-romantic and add it to my bill."

I'm about to watch. Seriously, I think you are all messing with my head. Isa with a gun? Kissing in elevators?

But first, I have to share this article about child actors currently appearing in telenovelas. Vlad and Atila top the list:

http://lahoradelanovela.com/telenovelas-actores-infantiles-2015/

Takeaways from Tuesday's episode
Really y'all have covered it all in your comments. Here are my thoughts after watching.

• Isa really has fallen so low. I officially feel sorry for her now.

• I continue to zone out during all tech and ducto talk...but I am disturbed that Carmelo now wants to ignore Pedro and go rogue.

• I'm happy to see Rafa softening toward Kike.

• What am I missing. Mérida, Yucatan (a little south of Progreso) to Guadalajara is 1100+ miles. A weekend trip???

I may have more thoughts later.

Kat- Yeah. With the hotels I figure they have help. But they can make these romantic settings pop up in isolated love shacks too. Those guys must pack up a kit, like Cheo.

Thank you for the article, Sara! I recognize a lot of those kids, and yeah, they're doing some good work.

Pobre Isa. Nobody deserves what Ric is doing and I hope he dies.

See what I mean about Pedro being the most reasonable guy in the room?! Carmelo is cruising to get them all busted!

Lol, Vivi...Kit de Romance! Someone could make a lot of money with that. More if they deliver to isolated locations ;) Extra charge for setup....

Maybe there's more than one Guadalajara? Ni idea

Does the Kit de Romance come with filmy draperies, and a wind machine to blow them around?

I could probably recap today (Weds) but since I haven't actually seen it yet I won't get it posted here till tomorrow, so if anybody else wants to do it first go for it.

That would be great, sneaky. Thank you so much. I haven't even had a chance to watch the episode yet.

Maybe the filmy draperies and the wind machine come with the Super Deluxe Kit de Romance along with an air mattress and a pvc pipe frame to hang the draperies from!

Weds 10/14 part 1
Ok so we left off Tuesday with Fidel capturing 3 guys at the illicit valve who don’t know nuttin bout nuttin
Antonio calls Uribe to update him – 3 captured but no info
Pedro starts wondering about these anonymous tips
Ricardo thinks he better call Pedro to let him know about the police raid now that its too late to do anything about it, but can’t get the call to go through, and hey presto here’s Pedro at his door to ask probing questions
Pedro raises the excellent point that the people of the areas where the captured valves were don’t have the resources to make an anonymous tip by email and despite Ric’s protests he is the only suspect.
Pedro demands the truth at gunpoint and Ric says why would I be so stupid as to kill the goose who lays golden eggs.
Pedro leaves but not w/o more threats if he finds out Ric is the mole

Cheo and Sara head out for their trip to wherever and run in to Tonio and Sebas (since apparently you can’t walk through the halls of this bldg. w/o running in to these particular neighbors)
Cheo flaunts the whole ‘we’re going on a sexy weekend’ thing and Tonio’s feelings get hurt
Later at his place Cheo surprises Sara w/his kit de romance (sin floaty draperies) and sexy music and kisses ensue till Cheo has a flashback of Sara telling him lo de Antonio that repeatedly interrupts his mood so he can’t

Meanwhile Tonio is flashing back to the elevator kiss from yesterday. Rafa calls to let him know they got the gas back but it will take longer than expected because they’re having trouble closing off the valve.

Quique and Rafa had a hot date that night and when Rafa doesn’t show or call to explain why not Quique’s feelings are hurt, he writes off Rafa saying that he’ll never try with him again and slouches off dejectedly

Next morning Cheo and Sara discuss his failure to perform anoche and Sara half seriously suggests a clinic she knows of. Cheo doesn’t want to talk about it and Sara wonders if he really does have a serious problem.

Sebas gets an enormous funeral wreath from Titina’s bros w/a note that says ‘we haven’t forgotten about you’ He goes to chew out Chepe for letting the bros in

Emma calls Isa and finds out Tonio is going to be in town, they agree to meet up for dinner
Isa walks out the door to pick up Tonio, leaving her cell in the apt, and gets a txt from Ric telling her to meet him at 1

Simon and Juancho are watching the skies for more ovnis as Edwina, Magda and Vladimir get the balloon ready to go

Pedro and his glowery guy meet up w/Isa and Tonio at the airport and Pedro stirs the pot talking about the deal w/Sara and how pretty she is, just generally making trouble so that after he leaves Tonio has to explain the agreement w/El Molcajete to a pretty pissed Isa (who hasn’t got a leg to stand on but whatever)

Weds
part 2

Edwina does the countdown to the release of the Vladimir 2 weather balloon in a very cute and echoey space program voice (having a hard time describing this sorry)

Simon sees the balloon as he’s driving along to get lunch and recognizes an ovni when he sees one and goes back to where he left Juancho

Bruno is prepping for his class, Laura shows up to chat and help set up, long looks and they reach for the same thing at the same time and touch hands and linger (its very K-drama) till Bruno offers to read Laura’s palm. He tells her sweet things about herself till Rodobaldo interrupts to fetch Bruno to do some heavy lifting for Padre V.
After he leaves the room Laura holds her palm to her cheek w/a longing look.

Simon has figured it all out, all of it right down to who is responsible for the ovni/weather balloon.
Not for nothing is he an aeronautical engineer and he and Juancho head over to Edwina’s place where she and Magda and Vladimir are getting ready to check the gps.
Simon congratulates Edwina on her launch and greets Vlad happily then asks why she let the whole town think there was an alien invasion on.
Edwina gets defensive and reminds Simon he’s all about keeping secrets from the populace and goes on to say ‘hey I know a weather balloon isn’t as impressive as a rocket, but at least we got our little project off the ground. So there!’ ( oh snap, point Edwina)
Simon is insulted and Juancho bristles on his tio’s behalf and they leave
Magda points out to Edwina she was unnecessarily rude to someone who came to congratulate her and that the ovni thing really did get out of hand. Edwina realizes she’s right
When Isa gets Ric’s message she tells Tonio she has an appt w/her therapist. When she says she’ll cancel to go do fun things w/him, Tonio says he wants to go with her and meet her therapist, he’s worried about her mood swings – now she’s in real trouble and heads to the bano to txt Ric that she can’t come and they head out to lunch

At the police station ovni reports are coming in fast and furiously. Quintin tells the callers to stay inside where its safe from aliens and wishes he was out there at his watching post getting footage

As they drive along Juancho rants about Edwina’s rudeness and Simon remembers all his dreams of going to space when his wife was alive and his original plans for the rocket shared w/his wife’s tombstone. Simon tells Juancho to put a sock in it so he can mope, oops I mean think, in peace.

Rafa tells Fidel his guys have finally gotten the valve closed off. Fidel is no slouch he is suspicious about the anonymous emails too since the folks in the area don’t have internet, he figures somebody else is sending them info and is suspicious about it. Just then he gets a radio call from Quintin telling him about the new ovni reports and saying he’s going to go out and investigate. Oh no you aren’t Fidel returns, you stay right there till I get back. Fidel is pretty aggravated at whoever is behind those darn ovnis ( ooh look out Edwina)

Ric gets Isa’s msg and tries to call her, fails, calls Tonio w/a pretext and finds out he really is in the DF and they agree to meet up before dinner at Tonio’s parent’s place

weds part 3

Isa fakes? twisting her ankle to get out of taking Tonio to the therapist- off to the hospital instead

Rafa goes to Quique’s place to explain why he stood him up. Quique doesn’t think work is a good enough excuse and gets jealous of Tonio all over again and slams Rafa’s foot in the door

Pedro argues over the phone w/ one of the other bad guys, trying to convince him he’s got it all under control. When Laura comes in he’s still mad and the scene gets ugly, he doesn’t like her wasting her time at the hydroponics class and threatens to forbid her going out at all or giving her classes if she argues with him, then sends her for a drink

Tonio arrives at his parents place w/ a limping Isa and the news that Ric is stopping by
Emma isn’t pleased Ric is coming but can’t say why

So.
Will Fidel find out Edwina is behind the ovnis?
Will Fidel lock up his own sister??
Will Simon and Edwina ever work out their problems?
Will Cheo be permanently incapacitated???
Will Sara mind??

Stay tuned and find out next time ( or in a few months, depending)

Diva looks like Cheo didn't spring for the super deluxe kit de romance - tee hee

I couldn't really tell if Isa really hurt herself or was faking, but from what she said to Tonio's parents 'in a good hour I sprained my ankle' and then saying it was because the injury could have been worse it sounded like it could have been real

Speaking of injuries, I don't want Rafa to be broken or anything like that but maybe his injury will win Quique's sympathy and they can stop fighting. Also if he's hurt enough not to go to work for a couple of days that could help too

Gracias, sneaky two shoes!

"Cheo has a flashback of Sara telling him lo de Antonio that repeatedly interrupts his mood so he can’t" Aaaaaaawkward! And here I thought it would be Sara who would call it off because she couldn't stop thinking about Antonio. I guess I'm glad he didn't explain. That wouldn't have gone any better.

"Simon congratulates Edwina on her launch," And I got all hopeful! And then..."Simon is insulted and Juancho bristles on his tio’s behalf and they leave." Damn, damn, damn. Sad Kat.

"Emma isn’t pleased Ric is coming but can’t say why" Ugh! It's her own fault for not ratting out Isa! Now she's got to entertain the little creep in her own house.

I think it sounds like she really did sprain her ankle and is just making the most of it. Which, sure, go for it, Isa. Good luck with that.

I can't even with sad Quique. Sad Quique makes me sad. Until he goes on a jealous rant and then it's Shut Up, Quique!

Sneaky2Shoes- Love the recap and your parting questions. :)

I was very happy that Cheo's macho pride has incapacitated Little Cheo. Good!

We learned from Simon's flashback that he actually WAS accepted into the space program in France and was going to space, but his wife's illness meant he couldn't leave when they invited him, and his invitation to the program was revoked. So sad. I really hope Edwina goes and apologizes. His sensitivity around this runs deep and has everything to do with his grief over his late wife.

Isa definitely faked the ankle injury to get out of seeing "Rita Suarez", who is now supposedly her therapist. I can't wait for her to get caught by Tonio.

I can't believe Antonio bought the lie about "Rita" being the therapist! I guess he never did hear that her therapist was a man and the whole "I didn't want to tell you" thing sounds...plausible. And he'd probably rather believe her than have to think about what might really be going on.

Kat- Yeah. Tonio WANTS to stay deluded at this point.

Sara- I just looked at the post of the kiddie actors. Love all the ones they highlighted from this tn, Lichita, and even the little actor from LI.

Thank you sneaky! I really appreciate it.

La Vecina #81 Th 10/15/15 Part 1

Quique has LEFT the building y'all! He's tired of being the one to make all the effort with Rafa and he's going to start dating some other guy.

It's fate! Of all the warehouses in all the world, Edwina's weather balloon had to fall on Simon's. (Well, Simon and Bruno's, but it sounds better that way.)

Fidel and Quintin are investigating OVNIs again. Fidel's not thrilled with Nacho's terrible cell phone photo. A helpful neighbor comes running up with the news that the OVNI landed at Simon's place.

Antonio's dad makes a bad situation worse by inviting Ric to stay for lunch. Ric fakes Isa out with an envelope of photos right there at the dining table…photos of landscapes. But there's a note in the envelope saying he wants half a million pesos for the…other…photos. This whole thing is ruining Ema's appetite. Isa has a hard time following the conversation and Antonio's dad assumes it's the pain, but Ema knows the real reason.

Edwina, Magda, and Vlad show up to pick up the gondola right before Fidel and Quintin show up to question Simon! Fidel apologizes to Simon for accusing him, but Simon would like an announcement made that the OVNIs were not OVNIs so people will chill out already. Speaking of chill, there's still plenty between Simon and Edwina. *sigh*

¡Theme Song Happy Dance!

After a short phone convo with Nati in which Sebas says he misses her and is staying in tonight alone with a pizza, Titina's brothers show up with tequila. It's shots for Sebastian and sips for the bros. He goes into TMI mode, telling them that he and Titina tried…and tried…and tried…I mean, they really tried, but no. Their relationship just doesn't work. And the bet was BS. Eventually, he collapses on the living room floor and the bros drag him into his bedroom.

Isa, Ric, and Antonio are ALL up from the table so Isa and Ric can negotiate the blackmail terms. Ric pretends to be talking to someone on the phone while he's really telling Isa, through the bathroom door, that he's serious about the money and she has until Monday at noon to pay up. He tells Antonio the call was about an apartment for a family member and Antonio helps Isa shuffle back to the table. In the meantime, Ema has been complaining to Antonio's dad that she doesn't like Ricardo being there or intruding on their family time.

Ed, Vlad, and Mags get a dressing-down from Fidel. They provoked a public panic! Edwina agrees to make a public declaration at noon, in the park, mostly out of annoyance at Fidel being angry and daring to say they were "playing games." Dude, it's SCIENCE!

Even after Ric has left, Isa can't escape. Ema offers her a painkiller and Antonio's dad offers him a cognac. Antonio confides in his dad about his suspicions that they have a mole at the company. Papa's advice is that the investigation needs to be done from within.

Cheo and Sara are off on their romantic vacation. Cheo is gorging on oysters in his determination to, ahem, perform. Instead, he ends up with some very noisy gastrointestinal distress that kills the mood on both sides.

Simon gets home and hears from Chepe about the big announcement, but he's not thrilled at the idea of Edwina getting torn apart by an angry mob. Chepe is shocked to see Titina's brothers leaving--he sure didn't let them in! He and his buddy run inside to check on Sebastian, but no one answers the door.

Sebastian wakes up positively green with a hangover. And by that I mean, he has a hangover from the tequila, and he was painted green by Titina's brothers. I think they avoided the, uh, boxer-shorts-covered area, though, since it looks like he has tan lines…digo, green lines? And on his back is written "Don't forget Titina." He looks like the Hulk. Only a lot smaller. And less buff. He tries calling Chepe, but there's no answer.

La Vecina #81 Th 10/15/15 Part 2

Cheo's torment continues the next day in the car, but Sara's keeping an eye out for bathrooms along the way.

Oh dear. Sebastian goes running out of the apartment building in shorts, a short sleeved tee, a hat, and flip flops. Dude…you could have covered more. And the hat is pointless. I'm guessing Sebastian's new "look" and Edwina's big announcement are going to collide and it's not going to be pretty! The pharmacy is, unfortunately, closed. As is most everything else. Because it's Sunday, aka futbol day? Or because of the announcement?

Everyone's assembling at the park. Simon lets slip early to Nacho that it was Edwina behind the OVNI craze. He's really worried about how people are going to react.

Ric calls Pedro with the list of sensors to tamper with and Pedro passes that on to Nelson. Nelson has to call off going to the park for the announcement AND futbol. Pepe has a sad. When Sebas sees him and tries to flag him down, the Alien Invasion scare is off and running again. As in, Pepe and the people nearby ALL take off running away from Sebastian.

Fin!

Sneaky! Your recap was too funny!

My fav: "Ok so we left off Tuesday with Fidel capturing 3 guys at the illicit valve who don’t know nuttin bout nuttin." Ha ha.

Diva - I don't know how you got this up so fast. Thanks for this: "Sebastian wakes up positively green with a hangover. And by that I mean, he has a hangover from the tequila, and he was painted green by Titina's brothers." Clever!
I laughed out loud when the crowd ran from Sebas, and the one guy jumped over the bush.

Fun episode.

Denise

Kat- I'm laughing all over again at the way the episode ended.

I hope Isa keeps sticking to her guns about not paying, and that Ric sends Tonio the pictures. I'm so ready for some movement, and not the kind Cheo was having.

Denise, I don't know how I did it either, but I think the planets must have aligned and for today only I am the queen of conciseness! Gracias tanto :D

Gracias, Vivi! Oh, we were so close to ending the Alien Invasian scare! So close!

*sigh* I know how to spell invasion, I really do....

I think he looks less like an alien than the Hulk or a Smurf gone wrong.

Hulk+Smurf= Smulk. or Hurf.

Thanks for the recap, Diva. It was divine.

Can't wait to actually watch these two episodes.

Gracias, Sara! Don't worry, when you get to it, you can't miss the Smulk!

Love the comments guys

oh yeah Sebas the Smulk love it
Loved the whole green thing. Sebas' comeuppance is coming I can feel it, couldn't happen to a nicer or more deserving guy

Diva great recap concise but complete thanks

Oh and thanks guys for filling in with the stuff I left out, every time after I post I remember things I forgot and there's always stuff I missed so I really appreciate when people fill in for me

Oh my! I hope that is some trick photography, kind of like green screen in reverse. Pobre Sebas, a very good laugh at his expense. Tonio was so funny trying to stifle his giggles.

I'm beginning to think Titina is right, she will be a old maid, what guy would want to tangle with her hermanos

"Oh and thanks guys for filling in with the stuff I left out, every time after I post I remember things I forgot and there's always stuff I missed so I really appreciate when people fill in for me."

ME TOO!!! I can't seem to find a happy medium between "watch-pause-recap all the words" and "from memory and forget a lot of the action."

I'm always grateful to the patio when they add what they remember. I love group-caps.

"I'm beginning to think Titina is right, she will be a old maid, what guy would want to tangle with her hermanos"

WORD!! Excellent point, Vario! I'm still kind of hoping Titina and Cheo end up together, but she seems to want a big city life. I wonder if Progreso is a big enough city for her.

La Vecina, Friday, 10/16 Part 1

We pick up the action where Sebas can’t find an open farmacia, so he heads towards the park.

Pepe is annoyed that Nelson is not going to accompany him to the park to check out the truth about the OVNI’s nor is he going to the “fut” game.

Sebas catches sight of Pepe and yells at him in a vain appeal for help. Pepe sees the Smurf/Hulk waving and trying to chase him down and yells in a panic, “Help, a Martian is chasing me!”

Fidel, Magda and Vlad stop by to pick up Edwina to take her to the park so that she can “dar la cara,” (own up) for the OVNI debacle. Edwina sends Fidel on his way, but Magda and Vlad say they will accompany Edwina in a show of “solidaridad.”

Pepe arrives at the park and yells that Martians are chasing him to the crowd. Quintín rallies the crowd to go after the “Martian.” They spot Sebas. He runs. They chase him and he finds Fidel who calms the crowd and sends Sebas back to Anto’s apt..

Edwina has begun her presentation, crowd or no crowd. But the people come back to the park and see a screen with images taken by the “globo sonda.” Edwina explains about her passion for the stratosphere and for all things related. She offers a sincere “disculpa” (apology) for the confusion regarding the OVNI’s.
People clap. Simón too.

Marina comes to Rafa’s house bearing tamales guajqueños and atole de guayaba. They discuss Rafa’s recent split with Quique. Marina is sure that Quique will calm down and be back in no time. Rafa’s not so sure.

Isa enters the bedroom (hers or Anto’s? Hers.) just showered and freaking about if Slick Ric is going to send Anto the racy photos of her, since she said she wasn’t going to come up with any dough. Anto’s phone rings. She says, “Don’t answer.”
They wrestle for the phone in a somewhat “roll in the hay” kind of way, and Anto wins. It’s just and advertisement.

Sara is parked beside a cornfield waiting as Cheo again tries to relieve himself of the effects of his food poisoning. Is he done? Yes – wait, no. Just a minute. Cheo is miserable. Sara ponders, “Is this what they mean by ‘for better or worse?’”

Sebas calls Nati, his only “consuelo” (comfort, soft-place-to-land). She loves him, he loves her, yadda yadda.

Mmmm. Simón’s orange juice looks soooo good. Bell rings. It’s a pretty woman in a red dress. “Hi, Simón! Long time, no see!” She hugs him. (She has to bend down a lot.)

Antonio doesn’t understand why his phone is turned off. “Oh look. Someone has sent me a photo.” Isa: “Delete it!” Anto: “This is a weird photo. Check it out.” (We see a photo of a man’s hand on a woman’s leg, I think.) Anto: “Must have been sent by mistake.” Isa: “I think I need an aspirin. Just a sec.”

Simón’s visitor is a friend from the university. She saw in the newspaper the article about his cohete. It’s famous. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) So what is he doing in this hick town? He’s always been such an excentric! He wants to keep his cohete private! Why can’t everybody understand this?

Denise

La Vecina, Friday Part 2

Theme song. (Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.)

Isa is calling Ric. “Okay, okay. I’ll pay. Where do I deposit the money?” Yadda yadda.
Ric: “That’s, more like it.”
Isa: “You’re acting like a gangster.”
Ric: “Whoo hoo. I’m coming up in the world! From ‘Naco’ to ‘Gangster.’”

Anto is talking to Sebas on the phone as he, Anto, waits for Isa.
Sebas: “I’ve tried everything to get this darn stuff off of me.”
Anto: “Try tequila.”
Sebas: “Tequila?”
Anto: “It’ll take your mind off the problem!”

Lady In Red Dress asks Simón to please let her see his “project.” (I couldn’t go there – ha ha.) She says the Agency (National Aeronautics Agency), of which she is a part, has a right to know about it.
Juancho, Bruno and Vicente burst into the room arguing about the “fut” game. Just because they won doesn’t mean they played well! If it hadn’t been for... Whoa – what have we here?
Simón introduces our lady as Serena Malvío, an old friend from his university days. Soooo. Bruno is Bruno Verde and Vicente is Vicente Granados. Vicente invites Serena to stay for roasted chicken.

Sara and Cheo are back in Progreso in his apt. He tells his boss how sick he is and can he have a day off to recuperate? Uh huh. His boss is not buying it. He better be at work tomorrow morning! Sara takes her leave. She’ll stop by to see her Mom, and then take the bus to San Gasp.

At Simón’s apt, Serena is regaling the guys with Simón’s university exploits. One time he knew a girl who was convinced ET’s were real, so he dressed up as an alien and freaked her out in her dorm room. She ran out, and Simón chased her across the campus. Har har har.

Dinner at Fidel’s house. The ladies are miffed and not speaking to Fidel. What does he have to do so that they all forgive him? Vlad wants an astronaut suit. What? Okay.
Magda want her family to go out together either on Saturday or Sunday. Done.
And Edwina? She wants Fidel to sign a paper saying that she can make her own decisions. For example, she wants to go to the moon. No prob.!, says Fidel, “The sooner, the better!”

Serena has had a great time. To Simón: “Whenever you’re ready, we’ll check out your cohete.” (Yeah, I know.)
Vicente: “Can she really make you show her your cohete? (I swear, it just gets worse!)

Merce is not convinced that Cheo is right for Sara. Why are you settling?, she wants to know.
Sara: “Más vale malo conocido, que bueno por conocer.” (Better to settle on a not-so-good one you know, than to go after someone who may not be what he appears. – a loose Denise translation.)
This are better in Mom’s business and in Sara’s also ever since the Conatrol agreement got re-upped.

Isa y Anto in her apt. He thinks she looks sad. Should they go out? No, she wants to sleep. He’ll go to his apt. No, no she’s just sad that he’s leaving tomorrow. Could he just hold her? That’s all she needs.

La Vecina, Friday Part 3

Sara arrives to Simón’s apt in San Gasp. She, Juancho and Bruno bring each other current on their respective news cycles. Oysters, indigestion, cohetes, old university friend etc..

At Conatrol Nelson has just finished altering all of the sensors so that Pedro and Co. can pilfer at will. Pepe walks in, and Nelson nearly jumps out of his skin. He says something cranky to Pepe and walks out. Enter Ramón. Pepe tells him that something is definitely not right with Nelson.

Marina is chatting with Rafa outside of Anto’s office. Sebas, a.k.a. The Smulk, walks through on his way into the office. Marina asks what the heck is with his green hue. Sebas says, “NOTHING!”. (Nothing that he wants to talk about anyway.)

Isa rushes into her depa after leaving Anto at the airport. Where did she leave that accout number? There it is on the nightstand. She calls the bank and makes the deposit.
Ric calls Pedro and tells him the coast is clear to drain all the gas he wants. Does Ric know anything more about the “anónimos”? No, Antonio said they were thanks to the community organizing program.

Anto enters his office at Conatrol. He laughs like a schoolgirl at seeing his friend in his green version. Anto suggests they call Titi’s brothers to find out what it was that they used on Sebas. Anto calls and the guys tell him (and Sebas) what solvent to use. They all have a good laugh at Sebas’ expense.

Simón is ruminating about Serena and how she said he needs to show his project to the Agency. Juancho enters and opines that Serena seemed real nice and how he doesn’t believe she has any bad intentions. Simón ponders his words.

Anto and Sebas enter the apartment. Sebas is to wet himself down in the shower, apply the solvent, let it do it’s magic and then take it off with alcohol. Hmm. They don’t have any; Anto will go out to get some while Sebas showers.
Anto goes out to do this – just as Sara comes walking down the hallway! (Oh boy, here comes the Obligatory Sara-and-Antonio-longing-for-each-other scene.)
Does she have any alcohol? Yeah, sure! Come on in! They enter Simón’s apt.
(Dang, no luv scene!)

Natalia comes walking down the hallway and straight into the open door of Anto’s apt. (This can’t be good.) She hears the shower. She starts to undress, but stops when Sebas calls out for Antonio. She tries the bathroom door. It opens. She and Sebas both scream upon seeing each other. “Wait a minute,” she says. “What the hell is written on your back?!!” (“No te olvides de Titina.”)
Sebas: “It’s not what you’re thinking!”
Nati: “The hell it’s not! You took up with a slut!”
Sebas: “It was a joke. The guys wrote the name of a dancer on my back!”
Nati: “A pole dancer?! You’re a jerk!!”

Anto and Sara overhear the pleito. Anto goes out to the hallway to help. He backs up Sebas’ story of the supposed bet he lost. “And why would I believe you when I just saw you come out of the apt of your VECINA?!!” Nat offers.

The “mastodontes”(mastodons) a.k.a. Titi’s brothers are glorying in their victory. Titina walks in with her suitcase, back from her stay with her aunt. “What are you guys crowing about?”

Sebas is still explaining how he lost a bet, guys took him to a “teibol”, he couldn’t back out, he couldn’t down enough drinks etc., etc... Anto backs up all of the lies.
“Nati, it’s the truth!”
“You’re a piece of s***!”
“Please come back inside and let me explain. And then if you still want to go, you can go.”
Nati relents.

Cue the music.

Denise

Sorry for the typos. I was kind of rushing.

Thank you Denise! My inner 12 year old appreciates all the rocket jokes.

If there were any typos, I didn't notice them. They just add character anyway.

I FFed through Thursday so I could see the Smulk and then remembered that Isa got a similar prank played on her earlier. Painting people must be a San Gasp thing.

I loved the saying you included about settling. I love that Merce recognizes that Cheo might not be the one for Sara.

Denise- The recap was perfect. Gracias!

I'm laughing all over again at Sebastian's plight. Serves him right. I hope Nat neither believes his lies, nor forgives him. I wish she would quit bringing up Sara and Tonio, an stick to focusing on her own relationship, especially since she knows what Isa has been up to, and how many times SHE'S lied to cover Isa's affair. Why should she expect Tonio not to cover for his friend when she's done the same for Isa?

I cracked up over the look on Quintin's face when he was going after the smulk Martian.

Poor Simon. Women just can't resist his rocket-- always wanting to take a look at it or talk about it. :) I have a feeling that Edwina is going to be jealous when she sees Simon with Serena.

Good point, Vivi. It's going to blow up in Nat's face when/if the Rick info comes out.

While I'm hoping that Sebastian ends up alone when this is over (he really has been a cad), I would like Nat to come out at least a little cleaner. Right now Anto, Sebas and Nat are all guilty of covering for their friends' infidelity... And Nat is the only one who has been faithful!

Sara - I had forgotten about Isa being painted! I think she was blue, right?
Yes, we definitely have a theme here.

Vivi - You're so right about Natalia and how she has covered for Isa. Of course, she protests to Isa every time how she doesn't want to be a part of Isa's deception. I've come to like Natalia more and more. She deserves a man with some integrity.

"She deserves a man with some integrity."

Amen!

Sebas is a good friend to Anto and he seems good at his job, but I'm liking him less and less. Has he once said "serves me right for cheating"? That's not a rhetorical questions. I really need the memory jog. I don't think he has. He acts like this is all Titina's fault for being crazy. Not that Titina is a paloma blanca either, but it takes two to tango...or whatever crazy dance the kids are doing these days.

This comment has been removed by the author.

I like Natalia too, and think she deserves a guy who is as faithful as she is. My only problem with her has always been the way she was constantly picking fights with Sebas (I think just to get to the make-ups in the bedroom), and those fights were usually about him covering for Antonio or not telling her all the stuff Antonio was up to. I always felt this was hypocritical because she always covers for Isa and she NEVER tells Sebas the stuff Isa is up to. She should respect Sebas' friendship with Tonio, as she respects her friendship with Isa to be respected.

Typo: As she expects her friendship with Isa to be respected.

True, true. Of course there was that one time when Nati asked to stay at Sebas' apt bc she didn't like what Isa was doing. At least she was trying to divorce herself from the Isa situation, and not laughing about it the way Anto too often does regarding Sebas' antics.

"...laughing about it the way Anto too often does regarding Sebas' antics."

I love Anto, but that does get on my nerves. I guess it's just part of the "light" aspect of the novel.

Is Sebas really any different than Cheo? There are women you play with and there are women you marry?

Hmmm. Anto sort of has that attitude too.

Darn. Now I've made myself mad at this show.

I´ll just think about Simon's rocket.

er....

Yeah, there is definitely a difference between the way that the men are reacting to the infidelity of their friends, versus the way the women react. Even Pepe and crew are not getting on Nelson for his supposed lover. They're more concerned that the lover's husband is after him and that the lover is being difficult. Chalk it up to Mexican men stereotypically, and men around the world in general. I remember in college running across this different view of holding friends accountable for "bad behavior" between my guy friends and my girl friends. There is a distinct difference. I would even say that from the guy's point of view, women meddle too much in their friends' business. Guys only step in when it looks like you're REALLY going off the rails.

I will give Nat this-She recognized that Isa was getting in over her head and was exhibiting addictive behavior. I think for Nat at least, Isa has gone beyond mere infidelity. For that reason, Nat needs to stop covering for Isa.

At what point is a guy considered "really going off the rails"? Because Sebas is being threatened by Titina's brothers and she's been pretty stalky scary herself.

Sara- I think if Sebas was still trying to see Titina despite her crazy self and her crazy brothers, that would be off the rails. Like how Isa has been with crazy Ric. But since he's trying to get out of it, there's no need for Tonio to intervene, other than trying to help him, and laughing at hi when things blow up in his face, because he deserves it. I'd laugh too.

Ah. OK. Now I get it.

On another note- I find my reactions to Isa interesting. I'm not sure how the writers intended for me to react to her, but at first I was glad she was cheating on Tonio and I didn't like her classist attitude, but wow I feel awful for her now. IMO she's redeemable big time and I want her to have a happy ending. Maybe that will change, but for now I don't see her as a traditional antagonist.

Do we have any of the typical antagonists in this?

Thank you, sneaky! I'm really proud of myself for being concise for once :D

Variopinta, I can only hope, for Titina's sake, that one day she meets a guy and falls madly in love with him...and he TOWERS over her brothers. Short of that, I don't know how she's ever going to find a nice boy and settle down.

Thank you for the Friday recap, Denise!

I loved Edwina's presentation/apology in the park.

When Sara said, "Is this what they mean by ‘for better or worse?" my response was "Yes, it is. So you'd better be sure that this guy is worth it."

"We see a photo of a man’s hand on a woman’s leg, I think." I think you're right. Well played, Ric *shudder*

"He wants to keep his cohete private! Why can’t everybody understand this?" Omigosh, I cannot stop laughing with all the rocket references in this one! Let the poor man keep his rocket under wraps! His rocket does not belong to the National Aeronautics Agency! It's private! Private, I tell you! They're not the boss of his rocket!

OK, seriously, I was surprised that there is an NAA, and I guess that makes sense, that he just went and did his thing without consulting them because they didn't exist at the time, but now he's got to go through official channels.

"She ran out, and Simón chased her across the campus. Har har har." Mhm...sounds like somebody was a little bit of a Juancho back in the day!

“Please come back inside and let me explain. And then if you still want to go, you can go.” AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Too much stress! What is he going to say!

Vivi, that's a good point. If she's going to put her friend first, why wouldn't she expect the same from Antonio.

Sara, that's a good point, too...Natalia is the only one who has been faithful and she doesn't deserve this mistreatment from any of them!

Hi Diva!

Yeah, I can't quite picture Simón as a cut-up and a prankster, but I suppose that after the death of his wife he could definitely experience a sobering effect on his personality.

It's sad that we missed the fun side of Simon. He really was heading there until that stupid reporter wrote the rocket story. *sigh* Maybe he'll get there again. I swear I saw his eyes light up while Edwina was giving the presentation.

Not that I'm a fan of the two girls fighting over the guy story line, but it would be cute to see Simon kind of preening if Edwina and Serena kind of both wanted him.

Oh, but I can see Edwina being sad because she doesn't know as much about space. Never mind. Forget what I just said.

OK, even better...how about Edwina meeting Serena and the two of them getting on like a house on fire and ganging up to get Simon back in the aeronautics field full-time :D

Kat- Ooh, I like that storyline. Of course, then Bruno would have to find a new partner.

That's an awesome storyline, Kat!

Yeah, show, listen to Kat!

I'm watching the episode right now and I can't place the actress playing Serena. Does anyone know what else she's been in?

Hmmm, well, I guess Bruno will have to partner up with Laura? They can teach classes together at the parish house and grow oranges and run the farmers' co-op. After Pedro dies a horrible, painful death.

sara, I didn't recognize her, but then I was too busy giving her the "Hands off his rocket!" glare, so that might have affected my vision.

Sara- If you watched PVAA, she played Charito, the hairdresser who was in love with Alex Sirvent's gay handyman. It was painful watching her pine for him.

Yes! That's it! Thank you, Vivi. That was painful to watch.
