Lo Imperdonable #118 Thu 10/29/15 Julio dies a hero and... oh no! not Padre Juan!

An alert has been issued to the surviving characters of this telenovela:  If you are not absolutely indispensible to the plot, take shelter now and do not emerge until next Tuesday.  I repeat...

Vero is still afraid of Marty, but she trusts her mama.  She agrees to go with her to a very special place tonight, no questions asked.

Manny snarls and Ana Perla snivels
So what else is new? This: when Manny glances up at the little glass shrine to the Virgin, Blanquita bops him with the flower bucket.  He grabs Blanca's ankle, but Ana Perla conks him on the head with what may be a pineapple.  [Thanks, J, Gobluefan and Mauricio!] She doesn't hit him hard enough though, because he is still alive and writhing on the ground as the Goat girls run away.

The plan involves horses and the help of a personal assistant.

Marty has brought Rebeca's assistant to the riding club and now introduces her to his horse Sansón.

Prado Castelo Mansion - A Mother and Child Disunion

Mother
Salma has decided to give Virginia another chance.  Jorge makes it clear that if he finds evidence that Ginny has committed a crime, he will not hesitate to turn her in to the police.

Daughter
Virginia sneaks into a bedroom, opens a bureau drawer, and removes a small velour ring box.   She slips it in her pocket and sneaks out again.

Mother
Jorge admits that he is still very hurt.  "If only you could imagine what my life was like before you... " says Salma wistfully.   (Si tan sólo pudieras imaginarte como fue mi vida antes de ti...)  But she has come very far since then.  If he accepts her as she is, that's fine.  But she shouldn't have to give up being herself.

Daughter
Chucho has been sitting at the kitchen table, his jacket hanging on the back of his chair.  He calls out to the maid, Chole, and then leaves the room to look for her.  Virginia tiptoes in, takes out the ring and pockets it, and puts its velvet case in Chucho's jacket packet.  Very pleased with herself, she sneaks away soundlessly.

Mother
Salma tells Jorge that she is learning that being a mother is more than indulging a child: it means understanding who that child really is, however painful that may be.   Es como si estuviera hablando con otra mujer (It's as if I were talking with another woman), reflects Jorge.  "Get used to it," she tells him – "that is the real Salma, the one I want you to love."  If he can't love her as she is now, she will give him his freedom.

Run, run fast as you can!

Oh no!  Manny has caught up with the Goat girls.  Grinning fiendishly, he aims his gun at them.  But before he can pull the trigger, Arturo jumps him from behind.  They scuffle briefly before Manuel once more gains the upper hand.  Now he is aiming straight at Ana Perla.  ¡Hasta nunca, hermanita! he says.  Blanca kneels sobbing by the wounded Arturo and pleads with Manuel to let her cousin go.  And then out of the blue, a figure in a plaid shirt darts in front of Ana Perla and takes a bullet for her.

Other people are now on the scene.  Stop him!  Call the police!  Call an ambulance!  Manny looks dazed for a moment.  Then he recovers quickly and makes a run for it.  Arturo seems to be okay, but Julio slips to the floor, his heart bleeding out for Ana Perla.

The Riding Club – It's a Horse Apiece

Vero walks hesitantly through the darkened stables.  When she reaches Sansón, she instinctively reaches out to him.  "Remember?" says Martín softly, suddenly stepping out of the shadows behind her.  "We met because of him."  (This could be terrifying, of course, but we know this is going to end well because their theme song starts playing in the background.)  And Vero does remember – how Marty rushed in to save her when she lost control of Sansón, how she hurt her hand trying to rein him in, and how she and Marty looked at one another and they just knew...   And just as she did then, she holds her hand out to him.  He kisses it.  "Take him out for a ride.  That will help you remember."  Verónica smiles.

We see Martín and Vero riding side by side, both in proper equestrian habits, she on the dark Sansón, he on a white horse.

Dead Men Do Wear Plaid

Blanca and Arturo try to comfort Julio.  They exhort him to hold on – the ambulance is on its way.  Ana Perla cradles his head in her lap and sobs.  Julio, through a mouth filling with blood, tells her that God is calling him on high.  He can die with his mind at ease because he knows that Pablo will make her happy.  He asks her to bless him and she does.  His eyes go still.  Blanca checks for a pulse and then shakes her head.

This is highway robbery!

Virginia, now wearing over-sized shades, waits at the counter of a casa de empeña (pawnshop) while the jeweler examines the ring.  Fifty thousand, he tells Virginia.  She's disappointed and irritated at the lowball estimate (This is a little more than $3,000 USD.)  Since she has no papers for the ring, it is the best she can do.

Virginia makes a quick call to Manny and asks him if he got the gun.  He did, he tells her, but he killed someone and the police are after him, so now he has to hotfoot it back to the pueblo.  He adds that Vero still doesn't remember anything, not even Martín San Telmo.

Virginia smiles as she confides to the Patio (and really, who else can she talk to at this point?) that if that estúpida de Verónica doesn't remember her, it's a perfect opportunity to get rid of her.

Verónica is a star.  Up in the sky.

Back in the stable, Marty shows Vero the Star Deed he once gave her.  "Do you remember that there's a star named for you?"  And she does.  She flashes back to the gift and then flashes her dimples.  They walk slowly down the central aisle of the stables which is now lit with hundreds of red votive candles burning perilously, albeit romantically.  They reach a little pen where a table is set for dinner for two.  Does she remember their romantic dinner in the hotel?  She does.

Now they walk on a carpet of rose petals that leads to Pablo's painting.  "Remember when we made love for the first time by that waterfall?"  She does.  So do we.  (Is it getting hot in here or what?)

He strokes her face and whispers in her ear: "Do you remember that I love you?"

"I remember that you possess me completely – I'm yours, and I'll never be anyone else's."  Okay then.  They fall into one another's arms, their lips meet, the music swells... and when we return from the commercial break, they are snuggling naked under a blanket on a bed of hay (though let's hope there is a nice smooth sheet underneath them).

She says she heard that he wanted to be buried with her.  He admits that, yes, he wanted to die when he thought she was gone.  "And all because of the wickedness of Virginia and Daniel," she says.   Marty raises his head:  "So I was right – they were involved in your accident, in your death."

Throwing Shades

Aarón and Virginia have reconnoitered at a café, she still in her shades and he still in his weird pirate get-up.  He threatens to send the confession video to Marty if she doesn't pay up.  She chuckles and takes off her shades so she can pretend to look at him candidly.  She thought he was smarter than that, she says.  That would do her in, but it doesn't hurt them at all.  It just helps them get rid of an enemy.

And what does Virginia propose?  An alliance – that will make it easier for Aarón to get to his beloved daughter Vero.

So why was I so afraid of you?

Vero struggles to make sense of her initial reaction to Marty.  "Daniel told me you had done me a lot of harm and you wanted to take revenge on me... and I had all these images... I don't understand – you were the only one I really recognized, but I was afraid."

Martín tells her that not all her memories will be beautiful – some of them will be painful:

"It pains me to acknowledge it, but I did hurt you.  You rejected me because those memories were present in your unconscious mind. Daniel knew what we had been through as a couple and used that information to hurt us.   But this is the moment for us to get justice – for my brother Demetrio and for your nana, Matilde."

Now Vero remembers Mati.  "I went to see Daniel because he said he had information about Mati's death, and I used my cell phone to record Virginia's confession to her murder... then that's when they tried to kill me!"

Daniel goes slumming

He shows up at the vecindad and asks the first person he sees, young Demetrio, if a girl named Victoria lives there.  Demetrio tells him no.  Daniel gnashes his teeth and assumes that Virginia is double-crossing him.  "So maybe I'd better protect myself," he says.

Trato Hecho

Aarón and Virginia shake on the deal.  But what is she going to want in return?  Oh, there's someone she'd like to get rid of, someone who's getting in her way...

Marty's Plan

He asks Vero to continue acting as if she is rejecting him.  She has to pretend that she doesn't recognize him and that she still believes Virginia is protecting her.  Vero likes the idea.

Daniel's counterstrike

Daniel enters the San Telmo apartment using the keys he took from Vero on the day of the accident.  He leaves a flashdrive under some clothes in Marty's bureau.

I Remember Mama

Marty asks Vero to accompany him to a special event that evening.  Vero smiles and says Magdalena also wants to take her someplace special tonight.  Marty is surprised that she has seen Maggie, but he's delighted when he hears that Vero remembers her mother.  He suggests that she attend the event with Maggie.  He will see her there.

The jerk lurks and listens

When Botel and Magdalena arrive at the San Telmo apartment unexpectedly, Daniel does a rapid roach scuttle to the next room.  He opens the door a crack and hears Botel say that Vero's recovery may be slow; and he hears Maggie's reply that she'll do whatever it takes to make sure she gets her memory back.

Obligatory What the...???? Scene

In Mina Escondida, Joaquín is amused at and impressed by Ramón's success with the ladies.  We get to see him in action.

Casa Prado Castelo

Even as Virginia is laying her head on tito Jorge's shoulder and promising to attend tonight's event with the family in honor of Vero, her caldron of thought-bubbles is cooking:  "Damn you, Verónica, you'll always be my shadow until I get rid of you."

Exit Strategy

Daniel walks right behind Botel in his wheelchair and then out the door, leaving it wide open.  Botel notices the open door, but assumes Magdalena was just a little forgetful.  A moment later, Magdalena leaves for the event at the Prado Castelo estate.  Botel plans to join her there later.

He could have become an Older Goat

Nanciyaga has shocking news for Raymunda and Joaquin: the Old Goat kicked the bucket before his time.  Someone got poisonous herbs from a brujo payé  and used them to kill the Old Goat.  (Brujo: male witch; payé is a guaraní word that also means shaman or witch.) Nanciyaga knows this because the brujo payé told her.

Raymunda sobs in disbelief and horror.  Her father was murdered? No puede ser!  Joaquín demands the name of the murderer.

!Fue hombre de mala entraña!
(It was the bad man/the man with the evil insides.)

They know immediately to whose guts she is referring – ¡Manuel!

Manuel boards a bus...

And leaves behind the fallout from his second murder

Ana Perla and Blanca kneel at their makeshift altar, weeping for Julio and cursing Manuel.  Marty says he will call the police in Pueblo Verde and give them the alert.  He will have his company drive the Goat girls back to Pueblo Nuevo with Julio's body.  He also tells Ana Perla that there will have to be a reading of the Goat will.

She's Mad about the Tea Party

Manuel has only a moment to feel relief at being back home before he sees Raymunda bearing down on him.

"What the devil are you doing in my house?" he says.

"This is my house of my father, the same man you murdered, you bastard!"  She slams him in the face.

Manuel grabs Raymunda and shouts that she is crazy. He loved his grandfather!  Joaquín thunders at him to let her go, and he steps in front of her protectively.  "Don't talk about affection because your heart is rotten!" Raymunda shouts.  "Father Juan is right – your soul is condemned and you're going to hell!  God will never forgive you!"

In the face of her rage, Manuel is defiant. "I don't have to explain myself to anyone."

But it turns out he does – the Pueblo Verde police kids arrive and tell him he is under arrest for Goaticide.  Before they can cuff him, Manny slips out the back way.

In the next scene, it's just Manny, his gun and some cactus.  Now what?

In Mexico City, everyone is getting ready for the big night.

Magdalena brings some new clothes to Vero at the vecindad.

Marty puts on his embroidered shirt.  He gets a belt out of his bureau drawer but fails to notice the flashdrive.

Virginia dresses and grouses and wonders where that damned Verónica might be.

Magdalena loves the way Vero looks, although we don't get to see her.

The guests begin to assemble

Rebeca is looking spectacular tonight with her hair pulled back in a chignon and wearing a knee-length black cocktail dress.  Marty tells her that Vero has recovered her memory and that she loves him.  Rebeca says she's happy for him. (Because that's just the kind of girl she is.)

Rebeca welcomes Jorge, Emi and Claudia and shows them to their seats.

Double-Mourning for the Goat Family

When Raymunda and Joaquín tell the girls about the Old Goat's death by tea, Ana Perla remembers Manuel forcing her to drink tea too, and now she realizes he was probably trying to kill her or make her lose her baby.   Then Ana Perla reveals that Manuel also murdered Julio.

A monster in the confessional

Manny's voice comes through the curtained window in the booth: "Say a prayer for your soul, father, because I came here to kill you."  The padre moves the curtain aside and looks directly into the face of evil.

While the runway show is getting underway on the Prado Castelo grounds, Manuel is holding his gun inches from Padre Juan's face and accusing him of revealing his secret to his aunt and uncle.  The padre denies breaking the seal of the confessional.  Manny's face lights up with a maniacal smile.  He doesn't really care – the padre is a nuisance and he is going to get rid of him.

The shiny beautiful people watch the shiny beautiful girls wearing the shiny beautiful jewelry.

The padre offers a path of redemption to the sinner, but he scoffs at the offer.  "On your knees!" Manny orders.  The padre obeys.  Manuel smirks as he pulls out the silencer and begins to attach it, turning the gun away from his intended victim.  The padre takes advantage of the moment to escape.  "I'm leaving to save you, not me!"  Manuel ambles out the door and calls after his prey.

The collection is making a big splash.

Manuel has caught up with padre Juan.  "No, Manuel, for God's sake..."  It's no use.  Manny squeezes the trigger.  The padre clutches at his bloody gut...

The closing model won't be able to appear.   Martín thinks Rebeca should do it – who better?

The show has been a triumph.  Rebeca introduces Martín to the audience.  Then she talks about the woman who, unfortunately, is not with them tonight – Verónica Prado Castelo!

At that very moment, a familiar silhouette appears in the distance and begins to approach.  Rebeca stares at the apparition.  Jorge, Emi, Salma and Claudia stand up and follow her gaze. They are stunned.  What does this mean?  Veronica is alive???!!!!  Virginia remains seated.  Her lips tighten slightly...

This is all very well and good, but when are those anvils going to hit an actual baddie, huh? Oh well, we'll have to settle for Love in the Stables. :)

Thanks NovelaMaven! I think that was a mango or some sort of fruit that AP hit Manny with. LOL

Ah, that makes sense, J. Probably some kind of melon then. Thanks!

Beautiful witty recap (as usual) that we have come to expect from our Master Recapper. Well done, NovelaMaven!

I thought the fruit on display in the Farmer's Market that Ana Perla used to conk Manny was a pineapple. As silly as it seems, it would probably be more damaging that the soft skinned mango or a melon.

Now you're cooking with gas, Gobluefan! A pineapple! Love it! And thanks so much for the kind words!

Thank you so much for another fantastic recap, NovelaMaven. Great headings and I loved the "alert message" at the beginning. So true. As I said yesterday, at this point they should all stay at home and with the doors and windows shut. I think it is time for these baddies to start getting their anvils. What are the writers waiting for?

Julio was annoying, but he did not deserve the ending he got. What a terrible death scene. However, I did love your line about him bleeding his heart out for Ana Perla.

Poor Padre. He also didn't deserve the end he got. It was funny, though, how he shoved Manny and made a run for it. Too bad he couldn't run faster.

Those cops are useless. It was so easy for Manny to get away.

Poor Chucho. I suppose he'll be blamed for stealing the ring.

Those were some nice scenes with Veronica and Marty. I like his plan.

I thought it was a pineapple too. She should have hit him harder.

You're welcome, Mauricio. So another vote for a pineapple, huh?

I still have hopes for the padre though, but what do I know? If the authorities don't do something soon, the only survivors in town may be Manny, Juancho and the nasty gossips.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Yes, Manny's reign of terror must stop.

I hope you are right and the Padre makes it.

Where is Pablo?!

"Where is Pablo?!"

Good question, Mauricio! I suppose we'll find out tonight.

Thanks for the wonderful recap!

I missed the show last night and will miss tonight's but dvr'ing so hope to catch up this weekend before the big finale.

I'm a little confused, did Ginny put the ring in Chucho's pocket and then take it out to sell to the pawn shop? Oh, did she just put the ring box in his pocket? Pawn shops have cameras so let's hope she gets caught.

Finally, Vero's memories are back! But I still can't believe that Marty is springing Vero on her family this way? Poor Emi and Jorge are going to explode. I would be happy but mad as hell at Marty. But does Vero remember them? Not all of her memories are back right?

Poor Julio! I was hoping that once he stepped aside that he would be saved. Can't anyone end up single at the end of TN's?

Why couldn't Dr. Dan just put the freaking usb on the dining room table with a note? He has to hide it under all of these clothes for Marty to maybe, eventually find it!

You're welcome, Carvivlie!

Ginny put the ring box in Chucho's pocket and put the ring in her own pocket. Good point about the surveillance cameras at the shop.

No, not all of Vero's memories are back. I don't think we know how much she remembers about Emi and Jorge. WE saw Emi in one of her flashbacks, but I don't know if SHE did. :) And I agree, Marty is treating the boys pretty shabbily.

"Can't anyone end up single at the end of TN's?" Excellent question! Grist for Urban's mill, perhaps? :-)

"Why couldn't Dr. Dan just put the freaking usb on the dining room table with a note? He has to hide it under all of these clothes for Marty to maybe, eventually find it!"

hahahaha! What can I say? Maybe he loves the thrill of the uncertainty, the unexploded grenade that could blow up Virginia's world at any moment.

Thank you, NovelaMaven, for a fantastic recap of this action-packed episode!

Unfortunately, the action did not include at least one anvil for the baddies. Por favor, please let us have at least one tonight!

Loved this line: "Virginia smiles as she confides to the Patio (and really, who else can she talk to at this point?)" Yes, her world is closing in on her now.

I'm not upset with Martín for not telling Emi and Jorge about Verónica being alive. The more people that know this, the bigger target Vero becomes. Especially, those two guys. They have flip-flopped how many times now on whether they trust Vero and Marty or they don't, and they were completely off the charts in having Marty arrested, their disbelief of Vero's innocence, and their belief in Virginia. The brain cells of those two are not very reliable, and they could just blurt out Vero's whereabouts or whatever, messing up the plan Martín and Vero have.

Although Julio annoyed me in the past, he was redeemed for me when he said he would step out of the way of AP's happiness with Pablo. So he didn't deserve this. Lol, Carvivlie, about the lives of single men at the end of TN's.

Yes, hope Padre is alive.

Glad AP followed Blanca in slamming Manny, even though it wasn't the fatal blow we would have loved. I too thought it was a pineapple.

And yes, Mauricio, those cops are absolutely useless!

Thanks so much, Mari! So another vote for a pineapple, eh? Well, I've changed the recap to reflect the wisdom of the Patio.

"I'm not upset with Martín for not telling Emi and Jorge about Verónica being alive. The more people that know this, the bigger target Vero becomes. Especially, those two guys."

Point well taken! They really are Mr. Flip and Mr. Flop.

I would say "useless" is a generous description for Pueblo Verde's finest (although once upon a time, long ago, when we had such high hopes for this little novela, they DID put Manny in Cave Jail).

Been mostly out of commission this week but want to thank all the hard-working recappers, including Aunty Ann the other night for the wonderful resumens. This has been a very diligent Master Team, doing all sorts of double-duty above and beyond.

And NovelaMaven, as always, I'm a shameless fan girl. Loved the preamble warning the inconvenient leftover characters and all the funny titles, such as Dead Men Do Wear Plaid ("alas, poor Julio...")and my favorite, as mentioned before "as she onfides to the Patio (and really who else can she talk to at this point)." But "rapid roach scuttle" was another gem. And thanks for the explanation of "payé". That's the sort of detail that flies right by these still-bleary eyes and brain.

And oh my "Shiny beautiful people watch the shiny beautiful girls wearing the shiny beautiful jewelry." Something depressing about that "desfilé" and I think you nailed it. And I thought the elegant dresses upstaged the rather clunky jewelry anyway. But opinions differ, I'm sure.

And why, in the name of heaven, do we still have Ramón scenes? Is he a relative of the producer? Incomprehensible.

Frankly, would not want to do a romantic dinner in a stable. The aroma, yes, ambrosia to horse lovers, but still. And the candles?...definite fire hazard, as you indicated. Prickly love-making on woolen blankets over straw? Not exactly silken sheets but whatever. Passion can sometimes override these small details. I guess!

Well, what can we say? We're still watching this jumble and the Patio remains a great hangout. Especially with recaps like this.

JudyB, how lovely to see you taking a little air on the Patio today. You do sound more like yourself. I hope that means you are starting to feel better.

"Frankly, would not want to do a romantic dinner in a stable. The aroma, yes, ambrosia to horse lovers, but still."

But still. And you notice they didn't show them actually eating. As for the "Prickly love-making on woolen blankets over straw," that seems to be a thing, a trope, if you will. There was an almost identical scene in Amores Verdaderos, although in that case, the young lady had just married another man. It is one of those romantic conceits that doesn't bear overthinking.

Thank you so much, my friend.

Thanks also, NovelaMaven, for the Spanish inclusions. Both used the subjunctive tense, and that is really helpful to me right now in my quest to speak con fluidez en español.

Thanks for this most excellent recap. I especially enjoyed and related to the cheery manner in which you reported the deaths of Julio and Padre Juan. They'll barely be missed. Next!

Could they have made Manuel any worse? Crazy, mean, and stupid. Yikes!

Sansón didn't look all that impressive this time around and his stablemate looked downright anorexic. Horse abuse?

Bad:

"...lit with hundreds of red votive candles burning perilously..."

Badder:

"...snuggling naked under a blanket on a bed of hay..."

Worst:

"Marty shows Vero the Star Deed he once gave her."

Cursi anyone?

Mari,

"What's fascinating to me is that you're so hard on Martín and so forgiving of Virginia."

Because Virginia's bad. That's her job. That's why I like her so much (plus she's kinda cute).

Yes, gin and tonic for all.

Carlos

Carlos -

Yes, Virginia, is great at her job...being bad, that is...and she is very cute. I've enjoyed Grettell's performance mucho.

Maybe the fact that Martín is in my opinion muy guapo contributes to my defending him...lol.

"I especially enjoyed and related to the cheery manner in which you reported the deaths of Julio and Padre Juan."

Shhhhhh, Carlos! You're going to frighten the children!

"Cursi, anyone?" Of course! Cursi is where we live here in novelaland. Just dip your strawberry in some melted chocolate, sip a little champagne and get a grip.

"Because Virginia's bad. That's her job. That's why I like her so much (plus she's kinda cute)."

Excellent answer. (I felt the same way about Juan Soler's villain on Reina de Corazones. Aarón? Manuel? Non-starters. Even Daniel is kind of a clunker.)

Mari, I'm glad you liked the Spanish phrases. I was tempted to wax pedantic, but it was getting late and my brain was a little fried.

Thanks a lot NovelaMaven for the recap.

I loved loved loved Martin and Veronica's scenes. So romantic what he did. My favourite was the horse and cascada! So all this happened in one day! Martin doesn't waste his time lol:)

What I don't understand is how Vero got to the stables, did Martin bring her there? because I don't think her mum knew about it because Martin was surprised that Vero had spoken to Magdalena.

Sad Julio died. Didn't see that coming!

NovelaMaven---You do it every time. Are you ever lass than perfect?

Julio slips to the floor, his heart bleeding out for Ana Perla.

Virginia smiles as she confides to the patio (and really, who else can she talk to at this point?)

She flashes back to the gift and then flashes her dimples.

Daniel does a rapid roach scuttle to the next room.

under arrest for Goaticide.

shinny beautiful people--shinny beautiful girls--shinny beautiful jewelry.

The towns only survivors may be Manny, Juancho and the nasty gossips.

My take on Julio's death---I believe that Julio's death was fitting because had he lived, he would always have had Ana Perla in his heart and would never have found happiness without her. Yes, he had stepped aside but the thought of her would have slowly killed him or his will to live. Julio would have never have been able to get her out of his heart.

Judy B #1---Why do we still have Ramon scenes?---They're for Carlos. He needs some company on the patio while he is sipping Gin and Tonics with Virginia. Two people all alone at a table out on a crowded patio is not a good thing.

Judy B #2---You ruined a beautiful love scene with stable aromas, fire hazards and no silky sheets for the straw. Come on!

The mysterious figure? Can't wait for tonight.

must see tv
the gringo

You're welcome, Duchess!

"I loved loved loved Martin and Veronica's scenes."

I KNEW you would! I was thinking of you while I was watching the show. :)

"What I don't understand is how Vero got to the stables, did Martin bring her there?"

Good question. It was only AFTER the stable scene that she came to trust him, not before. I don't know!

Gringo, you are so kind to me. The recap is far from perfect, but I'm happy that you enjoyed it.

I agree with you about poor Julio. He was fated to be a sacrificial lamb from the first day we met him. And yes, it's hard to imagine him ever getting past Ana Perla.

gringo,

"I believe that Julio's death was fitting..."

I suspect that Julio might disagree.

and

"Two people all alone at a table out on a crowded patio is not a good thing."

Depends.

Carlos

This was another great recap, NovelaMaven!

The actual action didn't quite meet our hopes for the evening, but the phrase-gems you included were better that the shiny-beautiful stuff trailing down the runway. (I was also a little disappointed in the jewelry--connection to the ancient heritage seemed a little weak.)

Too bad the girls didn't hit Manny with more force. Pobre de Julio, who always seems to miss out in the romance department. (Not to mention life itself.)

I KNEW you would! I was thinking of you while I was watching the show. :)

Hahaha. I love Vero and Martin. I hope Ivan and Ana do another telenovela together but I doubt it happening.

Salma will accuse Chucho but Jorge will know better.

Jorge is wise to Virginia now, she stole an incredible amount of money from Prado Castelo, Aaron cashed it and Marty has told Jorge that Aaron called Virginia.

After the mistake with Rita, I don't think Jorge will hesitate to think Virginia stole the ring.

When confronted Virginia will probably blame Veronica for stealing the ring* but Salma will end up giving Virginia the shock of her life by not believing her.

*Why would Veronica have any need to steal anything? She owns 25% of a profitable gold mine, is married to one of the partners of the gold mine (so that's 50% of a profitable gold mine) and is the stepdaughter of the third owner of the gold mine. Plus she will receive at least 15% of Prado Castelo. Veronica would not need to steal a $3000 ring, when she can sell one bar of gold and have enough money for 5 rings.

I want to see Salma beg Veronica for all the years of mistreating her. I won't be satisfied until that happens.

Nooooooo! I can't believe the monkey writers killed off Julio! I had hope for him and I too thought he would get to be happy after stepping aside for Pablo and AP. I actually cried at that scene. It was fitting that he would be the one to save AP's life but he didn't deserve to die. Que Dios te tenga en su gloria, Julio. And then the padre too?! I really hope he survives somehow.

I'm ready for some anvils! Even nasty biatch Mariana hasn't gotten hers! Manny's anvil better be a good one! In my opinion an awful way to die is burning to death and that's why I always hope for that for our villains. I want to see Manny scream and writhe!

NovelaMaven, thank you for another amazing recap! I am going to miss these very much. My favorite lines were "He could have become an Older Goat" and all the mentions of the goat family LOL I also loved "Daniel does a rapid roach scuttle to the next room". Perfect way to describe him, a roach trying not to get stepped on by Virginia. "Obligatory What the...???? Scene" Exactly what I thought too. The monkey writers just trying to throw in some "humor".

I tried to comment yesterday mostly to thank the amazing recappers. I don't think it posted. I have so enjoyed all of the witty recaps and the language/grammar lessons. I thank you each and every one-- Don't think I'd have stuck with watching TNs without this community!

Someone today mentioned how poorly Sanson looked! That was definitely a different horse. Not even the same color! I found that rather amusing.

Although I haven't been THAT interested in the Marianna storyline so far, I am now really curious to see how Pablo is going to pull this off. Maybe we could see that tonight? Please? And did anyone notice the art dealers expression after telling Pablo he'd get AP a visa and then watched as Pablo proposed to Marianna? He was like .... "Huh?! Well.... you go Pablo!" I don't see where he's possibly going with this, I just figure there is not enough time for another "me engano" scene with AP. Maybe Pablo ends up being a polygamist? Doesn't seem very TN to me....

I also scratched my head at Ramon-- and frankly could have lived without most of the fashion show.

Again, THANK YOU to ALL of the recappers and to the commenters as well for making this blog such a fun, lively and entertaining way to improve my espanol!

I'm surprised that Vero's pre-Mayan, Mayan or whatever the name of collection was hasn't met with great reviews from the patio. I liked the collection and that is saying a lot because I usually go for the simple, somewhat small, dainty but elegant look. What was worn last night was large side I would say but did appear to be of great design and looks to me. Well please---If our goddess designed them, well???

Anon207---You think that V-snakes gig is up. You probably are right but when she is questioned about the theft and turns on the waterworks---oh you don't love me, you, no one has ever loved me boo hoo hoo. It has worked every time before. Could she get away with it one more time?

Two epi's left. There's got to be some good action tonight.

must see tv
the gringo

La Paloma,
Thanks so much! Yes, if only the girls had packed more of a wallop... Where's a cast-iron frying pan when you need one?

(I kind of liked the jewelry, but I would have liked to see the pieces in more detail.)

Duchess, I agree it's unlikely we'll see Ana Brenda and Ivan together in a novela any time soon. Next time, Ana Brenda will have to find herself a new galán. :)

Anon207, I was wondering if a scene had been cut in which Chucho told Jorge about seeing Virginia with Aarón. That would explain why Virginia framed him for the theft. Of course, he could have simply been a random patsy, as far as she was concerned.

Lily,
Thank you very much! And I'm with you about the padre. I'm hoping Manny leaves him for dead and someone else comes along and saves him. YOO HOO, Nanciyaga! Are you there?

I hope the thing with Pablo gets wrapped up tonight and he doesn't come off as too mean-spirited in the process.

and yes, bring on the anvils!

Rebecca,
Well I'm glad you were able to post today! Thanks for stopping by. It's great to know you are enjoying the recaps from this team. I agree that the comments are lots of fun around here.

I don't know from horses, so I depend on people like you and Carlos to set me straight. So Sansón was a ringer? Oh well, maybe the original had another engagement.

"And did anyone notice the art dealers expression after telling Pablo he'd get AP a visa and then watched as Pablo proposed to Marianna? He was like .... "Huh?! Well.... you go Pablo!""

Actually, I DID notice. It was a funny bit and your description is perfect.

And no, I don't see Pablo ending up as a polygamist. ;-)

Hey gringo, FWIW, I liked the collection too!

Ugh, this was awful, poor Julio! I lay blame on AP for his death, had she not been so stupid and bent on "forgiveness" Manny would have been in jail long ago!

And talk about lazy writing! Am I the only ones remembers that Nanci told Julio he would find love and have money?!

Novela, thank you for this awesome recap, it was such a treat!

After the check theft, Virginia boo-hoo'ed to Jorge & he played along & called her a cynic to himself.

Since then, he's learned that Virginia & Manny are involved, Manny's fingerprints were in the gold, Aaron's been calling Virginia.

Jorge will play like he believes Virginia but he doesn't and he won't believe Chucho stole the ring.

You're welcome, Eli.

Thanks for reminding us of Nanciyaga's prediction of love and money for Julio. I had forgotten it, but now that you mention it, it wasn't so long ago. Maybe when Televisa decided to shorten the novela, that plot line was abandoned.

It's funny, I was actually thinking that if Julio had any surviving relatives, they would be blaming Ana Perla for his death.

NovelaMaven, a good recap this is. A sad
Episode. why they have to kill two people off? the Padre okay cuz manny hates him for what he did. Why kill off Julio he was one of good guys. So was the padre.
I thought that was veronica Martin was introducing sanson to again, I didn't know he took Rebecca's assistant out there too. I also thought that these people knew that Veronica was alive that's what I thought he was telling Rebecca the other night, but I guess everybody's going to get a big surprise tonight.
And those kids were no match for the elusive Manuel. he's going to be running the whole remaining time of the show until he runs into a bullet or a knife, or off of a cliff. Or even someone could make him drink bad tea. He's
Going to get his.
Cloudy with a really good chance of Anvils.

Thank you NovelaMaven for your great recap for last night and for all of the ones that you have done throughout this show. It has been wonderful to read your detailed and witty renditions and without them I would have only understood about half of what was going on. So I am very grateful to you for your interest and dedication to this TN. I hope to read your recaps again on Passion y poder, which I will be watching next. I would also like to compliment Mauricio for his very timely recaps and well written translations and most graciously stepping in when needed to make sure we got our "fix". AuntyAnn you were very terrific to commit to doing recaps and I loved reading them. Really excellent details and much appreciated. So thank you one and all.

This episode was very good and seemed to be coming to some conclusions (finally) and like others I was a bit disappointed that the anvils had not been struck on the most deserving given the little time left. I do expect something more in tonight's episode and I can't wait for them all to realize Veronica is alive. What a dust up that will be!!. I am surprised that Rebecca took the news so well. I thought she'd be devastated. Don't get what's up with Salma at this point with Jorge. Oh well, it is only a TN after all. So who will fall tonight? Aaron, Virginia or Manuel?

Gale

Hi Nina,
Thanks for stopping by.

"Cloudy with a really good chance of Anvils."

hahahaha! We can only hope.

Gale,
Thank you for the lovely comment. I think I can speak for Mauricio and AuntyAnn too when I say this has been our pleasure. I'm looking forward to tonight's episode too!

Nina

I loved "Cloudy with a chance of anvils".

Thank you Gale. It has been pleasure recapping this one. I'm looking forward to tonight as well. Hopefully, the anvils start.
