Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Capitulo 62 Wed 10/7/15 Discussion Page - Mortal Kombat!!
UPDATE: Recap courtesy of Vivi in DC. Thank you very much!
- Replay of the brutal, but oh so satisfying beatdown of Daniel by Max. Ursula and Arango pull Dan’s bloody and unconscious body from the fountain, as Ursula wails that Max KILLED him and orders Isidro to call an ambulance. Max, realizing what he might have done and coming to his senses, tries to help Dan, but Ursula shoves him away, screaming at him. Maleny arrives homes and runs up to add to the screeching and blame throwing at Max and MD. Both Max and MD appear in shock, but hold each other close.
- The ambulance and police later arrive. Dan is taken away in a stretcher, and Max is taken away by the police in handcuffs. Maleny keeps berating him and MD all the way to the squad car, but MD and Max don’t hear her. They share and unbroken and meaningful gaze, until his police car is out of sight. MD follows to the police station, where, after finding out the severity of the charges against Max, she calls Claudio.
- Claudio had been trying to talk Alma out of her recent decision to start therapy. She doesn’t want to take meds to calm her nerves, as Claudio recommends. In fact, she thinks Isela should also go to therapy for her traumas, and Claudio too should come to therapy with her (Alma) because their marriage has been on shaky ground lately. I think Claudio is grateful for the interruption of MD’s call. Alma freaks out and wants to go to the police station too. Isela, like the snake she is, stays mostly quiet during this exchange, but does nothing to defend the honor of her (former) friend MD when Claudio and Alma insult and blame her for what’s happened to Max. She does tell Claudio and Alma a few times throughout the episode that MD would back off and dump Max, if that’s what it took to free him. We learn during that conversation and throughout the episode that Claudio always told his sons that if they got in trouble with the law, they’d have to suffer the consequences. He will NOT bend the law or use his influences to bail them out.
- MD has also called Leo, and we see Leo and Clara in mid-fight because Clara thinks Leo spilled to Max Clara’s suspicions that something serious happened to MD. Leo denies it, and is backed up by Doris, who reveals/confirms the rape (not an “attempt” as MD tried to convince Clara), and that MD herself told Max. That’s why he went and beat the stuffing out of Dan. Clara is horrified to know that Dan did succeed in raping MD, and blames herself for leaving MD alone that day. Leo and Doris go to the police station to support MD and Max, while Clara stays at home to pretend that everything is ok in front of Espie.
- Max’s legal situation is explained a few times throughout the episode by a few different people. Here it is all at once: Max could get up to 8 years for what he did to Dan. He is in jail for the standard 72 hours, during which time his only hope for securing bail, and not being sent directly to the prison to await trail, depends on the gravity of Dan’s injuries. A report from Dan’s doctor will be needed as evidence to decide this.
- MD and Max speak through his cell bars. Their love for each other is unwavering. Max is sure he will be able to regain his freedom (not sure if he’s just saying this for MD’s benefit). Max asks MD to marry him when he gets out, and she happily accepts!!
- Claudio sees Max. See above about not bending the rules/laws for his sons. Max doesn’t even want him there, and sure as hell won’t accept him offending the woman he loves. He’ll take care of his own legal problems. Claudio calls Ursula to get an update on Dan’s health. Well, he’s not dead. But at that point the doctors have no info.
- MD, as expected, offers to disappear from Max’s life (she just accepted his proposal!), if Claudio will help Max. Leo and Doris arrive just in time for Claudio to point out that he will not be swayed by blackmail, Leo and Max have always known his stance on helping them bend the law, plus, he knows MD would never keep her word and would be all over Max again as soon as he gained his freedom. He leaves.
- Adrian has a busy day. Julian calls on his services to help Max. See info about Max’s legal status above. And then Isela calls him to get on his case about ratting her out to Claudio about looking up his juridical files. Adriana is as honest as Abe Lincoln, and cannot tell a lie. Well, Isela has a favor to ask him. She needs his help with a file in the archives, and he can’t tell Claudio about it. It’s something very personal to her.
- Claudio and Isela have a conversation about Maleny knowing about their affair and blackmailing her to get the info on her father’s death. Isela also reveals to Claudio that Maleny was having an affair with Ari WHILE she was dating Max. Claudio finds it hard to believe. But he decides to take action. He meets with the doctor and confirms that he still has his files on the Hector case. The doctor confirms he does. Claudio wants him to give them to Maleny, so that she can see all the info and evidence herself and get off his case. The doctor isn’t so sure about doing that. Those files are the only protection he has against Ursula. Claudio is confused. The doctor reveals to Claudio that Ursula lied to him about what happened that night. The doctor has one report that he first did, and another that Ursula made him write. He reveals to Claudio that he does not believe that Maleny killed her father.
- Jenny visits Julian and lays her feelings on the line. She loves him and wants to be with him. She thinks the reason he isn’t giving her an opportunity and is fixated on a woman he can’t have (MD) is because he doesn’t think he’s worthy of love and is avoiding it. She kisses him, and he reciprocates! But then he once again tells her that he doesn’t love her and never will, so it’s no use. He tells Honoria the same after dejected Jenny leaves.
- Across the way, Orlando has slaved over a hot stove cooking Doris a nice dinner. He’s setting the table, lighting a candle, and putting a lovely red rose in water in a vase in the center of the table, all while speaking to Ari about his heartbreak over Doris. Orlando tells him he needs to declare his love for Doris openly and in front of everyone, hold her hand in public, treat her like the queen she is. (Not sure Orly realizes the irony of him fixing a seemingly romantic dinner for Ari’s girl, while giving him advice on how to get her back.) His efforts are wasted, because Doris is hanging with MD at the police station and then at her house-- where MD shares the happy news with Doris and Clara that Max asked her to marry him, and she said yes. Happy hugs and squeals! Doris comes home to find the dinner on the stove, the candle almost burned down, and shirtless Orly asleep on the couch. Yum! She barely resists kissing him on the lips, kisses him on the forehead instead, and covers him with a blanket before turning away to look at the lovely table. Orly, who was not totally asleep, opens his eyes and looks at her tenderly.
- The next morning, MD goes over to see Julian and Honoria to update them on Max. Julian reveals to MD that Dan sent the picture to Claudio AND Max. MD now realizes why Max came to get her early for their talk. Julian explains how he talked Max down and urged him to speak to her first (before breaking Dan's face). But he totally understands how Max feels and why he did what he did.
- Dan has also awoken. The doctor tells Ursula, Mal, and Arango that Dan suffered no serious permanent injuries. But they will keep him overnight for observation, as is the practice with head injuries. From his bed, Dan reveals that this was all part of his plan. Yes, folks. He purposely goaded Max into nearly killing him, because he knew it would land Max in jail. Leaving MD all ALONE and vulnerable. He cracks a gleeful smile, while his family looks at him in shock.

They replayed that most excellent beat down
Ursula blamed Maria Dolores for the beat down
They loaded Dannyboy up in the ambulance; Max in a police car
Maleny told Maria Dolores it was all her fault and to just go away; Maria Dolores was #unbothered by what Maleny was saying
Maria Dolores called Claudio to tell him Max was in jail. Alma wanted to go to the jail but Claudio refused (!) to let her go
Max proposed to MD behind bars
Isela asked Adrian to lie for her; he said no.
Claudio basically dissed Maria Dolores in front of Max & pretty much told him he was on his own b/c of Maria Dolores --he was not getting him out of jail (for his image)
Isela told Claudio Maleny was blackmailing her about the affair in exchange for getting information about her dad's death.
Claudio met with Medina, who told him he wasn't giving Claudio the goods b/c it was the only leverage he had over Ursula, and warned Claudio to be careful of Ursula
Doris told Clara & Leo that Dan raped Maria Dolores & Max was behind bars for beating Dan's azz; Honoria lurked in the background to "catch that dirt."
Ursula called Ivana to tell her about Daniel being in the hospital; Ivana was basically all "Girl, bye" and "I'm glad Max beat his azz."
Honoria asked Julian why he was still so hung up on Maria Dolores when Jenny was right there; I think Julian said he might not want to be in any relationship.
I think Daniel woke up and said all of this was part of his plan to get rid of Max so he could have free access to Maria Dolores.
Ivana lines, Jacinto lines, Ari lines, Orlando lines
I feel like I want to begin every comment for No Creo like this, but it's always appropriate: Man, what an episode!
This issue that niggles at my mind every day is the blame being heaped on MD. Every time anything happens to someone's precious baby boy on this show, all parents blame MD. Only motherless men (i.e. Orly and Ari) and clear male villains are exempt and that's only because they point the finger at MD themselves! It really bugs me; I can't wait for Alma to learn the truth!
On that note: Wow, Isela told Claudio about Mal's affair! I really wonder how this will alter his view of her since he's always seen her as a victim. I wonder if he'll let it slide because of her childhood trauma (and because he's having an affair and Mal knows it). I feel like he won't expose her because she'd spill about his affair, but I wonder if he'll withdraw his support too.
Going back to MD - I'm with her, but Claudio had a point about there being misunderstandings later - she said yes to Max's proposal but 5 minutes later offered to leave him if Claudio would get him out of jail? MD, girl, be clear about your intentions with all parties and in the correct order. You have enough problems; don't make more for yourself.
I agree with whoever said yesterday that it'll be Max for Dan, in terms of dropping charges. Ugh! That slime gets away with everything!
But, I'm SO GLAD the truth about the rape is out (with Max)! Now, the only thing I'm on pins and needles about is the potential pregnancy!
Hellashelle- Totally agree about this tn and its episodes. They each leave me on pins and needles wanting to know what happens next.
Since my recap is up in the main post, I'm going to erase it from the comments.

I don't blame MD for telling Claudio that she'd stay away if he'd help Max. She's desperate and we know she'd only stay away on the surface, using go-betweens like Clara and Julian, till Max was in the clear.
It's going to be a sweet day when Mr. Perfect goes down. It's correct of Claudio not to grease the system for his own son, but he should be frantically getting the best lawyer he knows to defend his son and investigating the truth about what provoked Max to attack, rather than jumping to conclusions about that photo.
Loved the tender moments -- Max and MD gazing at each other as the police car took him away and Orlando silently watching Doris smell the rose. I didn't think so before, but maybe Orlando can forget about Isela.
Mariano was very obsessed with Teresa, too, even after everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) was telling him to stay away from her.
I forgot at what point Mariano decided to forget Teresa once and for all, and to pursue Aurora but Orlando will have to reach the same point.
Isela will try to slither back to Orlando too, after she's lost it all and will get rejected not only by him, but by the entire barrio.
Hmm, Claudio learned both Maleny & Ursula are have secrets. Claudio found out Maleny's secret but was surprised to learn Ursula had a secret, too. Claudio will be sure to get to investigating because Claudio likes having the upper hand on people.
Max for Dan, damn.
Clod wanting Alma on prescription meds instead of therapy how convenient
I know Julian doesn't believe he is worthy of any woman's love but so want him to open up to Jenny
I didn't like the jailhouse proposal. I want them to be together but after Dan is no longer involved. I want MD to want Max because she is in love with a better man not because Dan is so very, very bad. Too much to ask I know.
I remember well Claudio's past statements about not helping his sons out of legal troubles. Here's hoping he doesn't try to make these worse in order to get rid of MD. Whom we all hope isn't pregnant.
Claudio will not even think much about Maleny's cheating at this point. With Max in jail it's all quite irrelevant. Will Maleny go running back to Ari now that Max is not only in jail but that he has rejected her completely? Or will Maleny send Ari after Alma because she knows Claudio is hiding something from her?
I'd like to see Ivana help Max and MD. She needs to know what happened.
Yes, those prescription meds are convenient for Claudio's situation. But for all the mistakes Alma has made she still doesn't deserve that. Makes me wonder whether this story will end with Claudio also being dead, whether murdered by Ursula or himself. I'd rather see him survive and Alma divorce him when she discovers his adultery and whatever else he's covering up.
As for Isela, I am reminded of 1 Kings 21-23: And the dogs in the street shall eat Jezebel.
More later.
Hey, I just realized this was a Josefa-free episode!
Try listening to the background song of Paulino Monroy in "Un paso adelante" on YouTube. Great song along with the Entrada by Diana Reyes.
Max giving him right- then left-handed punches, that's the sign of a good, clean fighter/boxer. No wonder GS made first runnerup for the Mr. World contest.
I think that scene was one of the most superbly thought out, constructed, performed, and filmed scene I've seen in awhile.
I also thought the horrific look on Max's face when he thought he really had killed Weasel, was very telling for that point after the fight.
Except he doesn't. He's running around with Isela, drugging Alma, fixing suicides, putting people in jail, spreading rumors, etc.
Leo seems to have had his number from early on; that's why Claudio doesn't rock with Leo like he does Max. Max is Claudio's pride and joy.
When Max finds out all of the foul stuff Claudio has done to Alma, he will be finished with Claudio forever. He's halfway there with Claudio's treatment of Maria Dolores. And part of the reason Claudio looks down on MD is because she's from the hood; yet he's slumming with a hoodrat himself.
And when the general public finds out what a piece of scum Claudio is, they will be finished with him too. So Claudio will have nothing he cherishes left. And I think he will end up killing himself like the dad did on that last David Zepeda novela.
This show should be called "The Sad Last Days of Claudio Bustamante."
Just noticed the new layout. I'm so used to having the front page on the right side. I guess change is good (as Viktor so recently said in Preciosa Perla when a member of the communist party won a seat in the state of Rio legislature in the 1945-46 period of the tn.)
OK, back to YoNo. Vivi, I rightfully accuse you of being just as much of a romantic as I am. Your paragraph on Orlando and Doris was longer than any of the others (I counted them in the old format--11 lines). Since Orlando was really awake, I'm so glad Doris didn't kiss him on the lips. That would have been creepy, if he thought she thought he was asleep--and he knows from Doris having told him, about that earlier circumstance about that drunken kiss, but he was too drunk to remember it. He looked so appealing lying there shirtless on the couch. I still miss his beard.
Poor MD. I think it's the writers that don't know quite how to draw her. She's either naïve and vulnerable and STOOPID or she's a brilliant fashion designer, determined, has a vision of the future and who just needs a boost up to establish a successful company. It's like she's two different personalities with different people.
So far, it also seems as though ALL her decisions have been wrong ones, well, with the exception of telling Max about the rape--how rare is that? But wait...she WASN'T going to tell him except Julian who knew what really happened, persuaded her that telling Max was the right thing to do. She and Julian make a much more compatible couple. Does this remind anyone of Un Refugio, where we were convinced Luciana and Patricio were better suited to each other than she and Rodrigo (also G.Soto).
Ah, well, we can't have everything in life we want.
As far as MD goes, I don't think she's had time to think straight since Hurricane Dan hit her life. I think she WAS on track to build her design career (although slowly), and then this sh*t storm hit. I don't think she has known if she's coming or going since then.
Anita- Last week I was home sick one of the days, and I watched Preciosa Perla. Love the beautiful actors (especially the men), many of whom I've seen before in other Brazilian tns, and the period costumes and sets. I'm trying to put some controls on my tn watching, so I just can't add it to my list. But I liked what I saw. Well, except for the scene I saw where the galan swore up and down to the protagonist that his father really isn't evil, and of course did not orchestrate sending her to jail. Poor fool.
That all changed in the last few episodes. Franz (the galan) is wholly on the side of Amelia (his protagonist).
The Orly/Doris scene was so darn cute! To me, it looked like Orlando was thinking about how nice it was to trust someone and not worry about doing something nice...and then being kicked out by a screaming harridan mother. It was a little sketchy when he was lighting a candle and setting out a rose while on the phone with Ari, but he doesn't even realize what's building between him and Doris. The sad thing is, since breaking with Mal, Ari has been recognizing Doris publicly. It's just too late' she's already in love with Orlando.
Claudio's wooden face gives nothing away, but he's usually very straightforward about his work (with the huge and obvious exception of Hector's murder). Maybe his poker face is better than I thought...
I must say this TN has been so tight that even when I'm annoyed with characters or greatly dislike them, their actions often make sense based on their characterizations. Even over the top situations still seem believable in the context of the plot. For that reason, even though Alma's so very, very wrong, I wouldn't be mad if she got a hunky galan. But that might speak more to how angry I am with Claudio than anything else.
He also needs to see a lawyer ASAP to see how he can get out of this legal mess. He can't hide from the police forever. However, I do see some positive potential consequences from he and Doris being locked up in her little one bedroom apartment for a few days/weeks. :)
Now, the judge is a piece of crap. There is no
Honor there at all. And he's got the nerve to look down his nose at Maria Dolores when he's ho hopping on his wife. And she wants
Them to "go to therapy cause their marriage
Is on shaky ground". Really? That marriage
Is on a 10.7 earth quake, and she has no idea of the devastation that's coming to her. Alot
Of the problems these people have is cause
They're trusting the wrong people. And those
Same people are going to pull them down
With them, its their own fault. Not MD's. shes Got her own drama to deal with, and most of Her problems is her own fault to, That rape, followed a line of bad choices, even after she found out what a dog she was giving her heart to. Thinkin She could trust an imbecile to do the right Thing.
Orlando should forget about isela and get
With doris. He looked like he had a lightbulb
Moment while watching doris walk away.
Viví and Anon207 for finishing out the recap. I love the conciseness of bullet points, as it feels like the action is going a mile a minute.
Thanks again you guys.
PS
Orlando as Burt Reynolds anyone?
Vivi's recap: "He is in jail for the standard 72 hours, during which time his only hope for securing bail, and not being sent directly to the prison to await trail, depends on the gravity of Dan’s injuries. A report from Dan’s doctor will be needed as evidence to decide this."
It would just be like the Santibanez clan to make it seem worse than it is--and we already heard the doctor say Dan was only banged up, nothing broken. Dang--Not even his nose.
Isela will pay one way or the other. If she isn't in prison for something at the end she will have to leave town.
Meanwhile I want to see Danny-Boy really get what's coming to him. However, we have the whole second half of this series to hope for that. And that it's good.
I really despise Claudio's holier than thou attitude towards his son and everyone else while he's cheating on his wife.
I am always drawn to the apartments of the people in the barrio. The doors are usually glass paned -- very little security. You don't seem to hear of robberies. Yet MD's shop had an iron gate. They seem to go for bright colors and have so many doo-dads of every type on the walls. Even little flickering lights. No bare spaces anywhere. I sometimes forget to listen to the actors because I'm so busy looking over the décor. lol!! I guess this is the actual style they use??
Ann-NYC
I really liked the proposal scene, I thought it was lovely in its own way.
