La Vecina Highlights and Discussion #100-104 Nov. 9-13

We hit the triple digit episode numbers this week and still haven't hit the "doldrums". (Well, that may just be me.)

Continuing the this-is-not-del-montón theme from last week...
  • The writers remember details (insurance Cheo signed without reading, putting ice-cream in a fridge like sneaky mentioned.)
  • The writers add details for interest (Rafa has a cat, the dance partner switch that jlk mentioned)
  • Except for Pedro and Rick, every character has a redeeming quality. (Yes, even Isa...but she needs to be careful...)
  • Chemistry. Holy cow who knew kisses on the cheek could be so.damn.steamy.
Feel free to add your own.

(As usual, leave a comment if you want to claim a day to recap. Today may just be highlights. I have Wednesday off so I am sure I can take that...unless that's better for someone else.)

Thank you for getting this going, Sara! My love for this show is rivaled only by my hatred for Ramon...and possibly Cheo.

I'm still watching today's episode, but seriously, Cheo...when Ric is looking at you like "QTH?" you need to stop talking!

Maybe this is picky of me, but wasn't it weird for Roque to say to a customer "Come back soon"? They sell used cars. She's not going to be happy if she comes back THAT soon.

I'll take Thursday, if that's cool.

Did Antonio's dad just say he's taking money from the business with Isa's dad to pay for Ema's new SUV that he TOLD her they couldn't afford?! I'm...very concerned....

HELLPP!!
My tv just decided it doesn't get univison any more :(
Until I figure out what's going on and get it fixed I'm counting on you guys! (no pressure though, whatever you got is good)

Thanks so much Denise for Friday

now I gotta go cry (yeah, I know its an overreaction, no, I don't have a telenovela problem, I can quit anytime I want, I just didn't want to quit now!)

This is tragic! I don't blame you for freaking out! We will fill you in...it's like, a sacred trust. Vecinas gotta stick together!

#100 Monday 11/9
Some Highlights

Sebas shows up at the studio to “interview” Marcelo. The producer dude quickly figures out that Sebas is not who he says he is and calls security. Producer dude informs Marcelo. It’s assumed that Sebas is a crazed fan. There’s a composite sketch made up and the news spreads throughout the media and entertainment world. Nat eventually finds out and asks Sebas to leave her and Marcelo alone. If Sebas cares for her at all he will let her be happy. Sebas is not giving up.

Cheo decides he’s going to hit Anto where it hurts. Cheo has to go to the DF to take care of the insurance problem (which could could cost the business a million pesos.) While he’s there, he goes to Conatrol and makes a sexual harassment charge against Anto. According to Cheo, Anto promises ladies jobs in exchange for sexual favors. Lic Uribe asks Rick to find out more. Cheo admits to Rick that he’s made it all up.

Nelson continues to refuse to tell Pepe who the head of the saqueadores gang is. Nelson foolishly believes he can find out who the DF mole is. Nelson tries to get Pedro to tell him who the inside guy is in the DF. Pedro refuses. Nelson gives Pedro a bunch of information about the sensors. Pedro will pass the info along. I didn’t quite understand Nelson’s plan though. He provided data that would make it obvious to the DF informant that someone was on to him? Any insight from the patio would be appreciated.

Juancho keeps working on the cohete PR, but he feels like the video lacks punch. Edwina shows up and Juancho has a bright idea! He asks Edwina to pose with the rocket. My inner feminist should be offended that they are objectifying Edwina, but then they show her imagining Simon in a slow mo’ walk that kind of objectifies him...so I cut everyone some slack. Juancho talks her into getting up on a ladder for a better angle. She falls off when Simon arrives. She hurts her ankle and Simone tends to it. Simon says he doesn’t see how anyone will pay attention to the rocket if Edwina is in the video. AWWWW!!

Anto’s dad is having business trouble. Not that Ema gives a rip. She just bought a new car. Guillermo won’t let the business sink. I bet Guillermo won’t be so supportive when he finds out his money paid for that car instead of being invested in the business.

Bruno and Laura talk outside the church. They get mighty close. Elias sees them. Uh oh. Bruno, dude. Are you not hearing Laura at all? She keeps telling you that they can’t be seen together. Elias confers with Anselmo. I almost choke on the irony. Anselmo tells Elias to be sure of what he saw before he says anything to Pedro. Let me repeat that- ANSELMO tells Elias to be SURE of what he saw. The wine guy has to be turning over in his boggy grave.

Laura calls Bruno and tells him that she can’t see him anymore. She won’t leave her husband. Bruno comes to her house. I am really, really afraid.

Gracias Sara
Bruno is loco, after all Laura is a married woman. He is putting them both in danger.

Just when I was thinking Cheo wasn't so bad. He did look good i his suit with his hair fixed.

Surely the Lic wont believe his mierda.

Thanks, Sara! Really great synopsis.

"Simon says he doesn’t see how anyone will pay attention to the rocket if Edwina is in the video. AWWWW!! Right there with you.

Friday?

Gracias Vario! I was digging Cheo's executive look too. *waggles eyebrows*

Gracias Denise! To tell the truth I kind of think of you and 5ft as the regular Thursday and Friday recappers. I just ask folks to claim a day because you know what happens when you assume...

I did forget a couple things.

Anto asked Fidel to interview employees at Conatrol. Qunitin goes to question people.

Ramon finds out that David is there. But Hottie McHothead doesn't believe it's to relocate employees or give them their legal severance. Revolutionary Ramon is convinced David is there to fire people. Ramon raises hell and is given 3(?) days leave. I think without pay. I can't remember now.

Oh and Cheo mentioned to Lic Uribe and Rick that the saqueadores approached him for a contract kill on Anto.

Juancho has the website up and running. Not many people have visited the site. Juancho hasn't uploaded the video yet though. My guess is once he does Edwina will become the face that launches a thousand cohetes.

Sara, gracias for the Monday recap!

As close as I can figure, Nelson's plan was to say the thing he'd been doing with the sensors stopped working. His reasoning for wanting to talk directly to the person at Conatrol DF was that that's the person who had given him the instructions, and so it would be simpler to speak to him directly instead of going through Pedro, who wouldn't understand any of it and might not pass all the technical details on correctly.

"Simon says he doesn’t see how anyone will pay attention to the rocket if Edwina is in the video. AWWWW!!" I love those two!

"Let me repeat that- ANSELMO tells Elias to be SURE of what he saw. The wine guy has to be turning over in his boggy grave." Seriously, dude. Seriously.

"Ramon raises hell and is given 3(?) days leave. I think without pay. I can't remember now." Yes, that was it. He makes my blood boil! It's just ridiculous! He's already decided what the "truth" is and won't listen to anything else. And everyone who keeps pointing out to him that his "truth" makes no sense and isn't supported by what's actually happening is so right, but I guess when you're that hot it melts all reason?

"My guess is once he does Edwina will become the face that launches a thousand cohetes." Well played :D

Sara - "My guess is once he does Edwina will become the face that launches a thousand cohetes." OMG you're funny!

Antonio said "sin gozo de sueldo," so,yeah, without pay.

Denise

Sara- I loved both the recap and this comment, "face that launches a thousand cohetes." :)

Between Bruno and Art over on Pasion y Poder, my blood pressure shot up yesterday. They are putting their lady loves in great danger, and just don't seem to get it.

That was a pretty lame plan Cheo had, with no proof. I was surprised Rick didn't offer to help him. Cheo didn't even ackowledge that he had been wrong and that Sara's trip to DF was legit and never some plan Tonio concocted.

Loving the heat that building between Simon and Ed, especially after that long cold war between them.

Ramon needs a slap upside the head, and some time in the timeout corner.

5ft/Diva was the inspiration for the face that will launch a thousand cohetes.

Thanks for the "sin gozo de sueldo" info Denise!

I would gladly slap Ramon upside the head, Vivi. And then run my fingers through his hair. Mmm.

Sneaky - So funny:"(yeah, I know its an overreaction, no, I don't have a telenovela problem, I can quit anytime I want, I just didn't want to quit now!)" Ha ha.
Like when people say, "I can stop smoking any time I want. I've done it a hundred times!"

Denise

Ok so it looks like its fixed today - no idea what went wrong Fri, no idea why it works now, just hoping it keeps working. Thanks guys

Sra Sara thanks so much for giving the awesome highlights Monday
I too liked "Edwina will become the face that launches a thousand cohetes." hee hee

"Anto’s dad is having business trouble. Not that Ema gives a rip" I really don't get Ema, who is she? (internally I mean, I know she's Tonio's mom) She doesn't seem to have any hobbies or interests but she's also really selfish and not very supportive of anyone on the show. She may be the only 2 dimensional character on this show and its really throwing me off
_____
So has Sebas received a brain transfusion from Cheo? Getting all stalky w/the new bf doesn't really sound like him, I always thought he was so laid back.
Now that I start thinking about it, there are some similarities between Cheo and Sebas.
Just weirded myself out
______
Oh Diva " I guess when you're that hot it melts all reason?" is just too funny! Ramon is easy on the eyes but I don't know if even Vivi's suggestion "Ramon needs a slap upside the head, and some time in the timeout corner." would help

_____
Denise yeah my fam likes to say I have a telenovela addiction so I like to joke about it.

Apologies everyone. I still haven't gotten a chance to watch the episode. I'll get something up in the morning.

Sara- No worries. I didn't even get the chance to watch the episode yesterday. Looking forward to the recap whenever you can post it.

I think I'm just going to do a combined Tuesday and Wednesday "Highlights" if that is ok with everyone.

I'm just sitting down to watch yesterday's episode. Probably this is going to be more like a series of running comments rather than a recap.

The first comment bomb-
OMG! Bruno witnesses Pedro verbally abusing Laura! (editorial note-the first thing Bruno says is "that bastard" not "why didn't you say something back?" Points awarded to Bruno.)

Cheo sees the write up in the paper about Isa's exhibit. He plans to go after her. Ha! He and Isa deserve each other.

Nelson convinces another worker to talk to Anto and get the real scoop on David. The worker does and Anto shoots straight with him. How does Ramon still manage to win support? Anto has shown himself to be a good boss.

After meeting with the worker, Anto asks Nelson to stay behind. Anto wonders how Nelson knows so much, but buys the story that it was all coincidence. Anto even thanks Nelson. Whew.

Lic Uribe is glad that there is nothing between Sara and Anto, but he still advises Anto to steer clear of her.

Pepe continues to pressure Nelson to come clean. Nelson is called in for questioning.

La tema que me hace suspirar.

Quentin questions Nelson. Q cracks a joke about a lie detector. Nelson denies anyone has contacted him for info. Nelson also says he doesn't know anyone in the plant that has possibly been contacted.

Cheo with insurance guy. I think all he managed was to get the guy to look over the policy again. The company probably won't cover the loss. All Cheo cares about is going to Isa's gallery.

Serena is heading back to the DF. I'm kind of glad.

Rick realizes he doesn't have enough info about the sensors. He calls Pedro and tells him.

It's getting harder and harder for Nelson to lie. Pepe is sure the plan to find the DF informant will work and Nelson can stop lying.

Sebas refuses to lose his war for Nat. Whatever. Anto tells Sebas about Cheo.

Sara arrives to drop off the bill for the Conatrol account. She overhears Anto talking about Cheo's latest stunt.

Since I am writing this from my phone the last half of the episode will be bare bones.

Anto invites Sara to eat.

Cheo pretends to be Juan Luis Espinotha from Madrid and wheedles the gallery owner into contacting Isa so he can talk to her. Then he wheedles Isa into an invitation to her apt.

Oops. Juancho uploaded the video of Edwina falling. Juancho blames Simon for rushing him. Edwina is mortified. She's going to be a laughing stock. They check the comments. No one is laughing at her. They are positive comments. Many admire her beauty. The cohetes are stirring. Simon does this side glance thing at her that was really kind of hot.

Marcelo is going out of town and wants to take Nat to dinner. Of course, he still hasn't repaid her for the last time. (Is it mean of me to say that Nat should find a better guy to use and throw in Sebas's face?)

Anto and Sara stroll after eating. She notes the bodyguards aren't around. Padre V runs into them. He asks for a ride and asks Sara to come see him later. The henchman reports to Carmelo. Anto dismisses the guards when he's on personal business.

Pedro gets a call from Nelson. Nelson will give more details to pass along to the DF contact.

Marcelo pays Nat back. She wishes it was cash and not a check. The restaurant manager wants to see Marcelo.

Sara tells Padre V about her meal with Anto. Anto is not sure if he loves Isa. He is going to go to the DF and decide once and for all if he's going to stay with her or not. For the first time Sara feels like Anto is going to fight for their love. That was a pretty hot kiss. Anto really still needs to think about his relationship with Isa? Dummy.

Cheo shows up at Isabel Thisnero's apt.

Fin

It's a testament to Jose Luis Badalt's hotness that Ramon manages to be so annoying without rendering himself unattractive.

sneaky, I'm glad the cable is fixed! Good point about Ema. I don't have a good grasp of who she is either. The only thing we know about her is that she's been wanting a new car from day 1. Oh, and I guess that she thinks her husband is kind of a loser and is willing to pimp out her son for money. But what does she DO all day?!

Sara, gracias for the Tuesday recap :D

"Bruno witnesses Pedro verbally abusing Laura!" I was impressed with him for staying completely quiet. I wasn't completely quiet, but then Pedro's not likely to jump through the screen and throttle me for making eyes at his wife. Um...he's not, right? *shudder*

"Q cracks a joke about a lie detector." I'm really uncomfortable with Q being the guy doing the questioning, but I guess in a town that small, it would be unlikely to find anyone to do it who doesn't have some sort of relationship with at least some of the plant employees.

"Cheo pretends to be Juan Luis Espinotha from Madrid" HA! I mean, shut up Cheo, but...HA!

"They check the comments. No one is laughing at her. They are positive comments." Unrealistic, but I can live with that.

"Anto really still needs to think about his relationship with Isa? Dummy." Seriously, dude. Seriously.

Ay, Sara. You made me laugh big time with "Cheo pretends to be Juan Luis Espinotha from Madrid" and "Cheo shows up at Isabel Thisnero's apt." Makes me giggle still.

Denise

I lurves me a castellano accent. And it's not just the ceceo, there's a little thing that goes on in the molar/cheek area (that I can't describe) that I like too.

*sigh* I find accents of the Spanish speaking world so fascinating.

I'm about to get started on Thursday's events.

#102 Wednesday 11/11 Highlights Parte 1
Cheo (aka Juan Luis Espinotha) arrives at Isa’s apartment with wine...which totally makes Cheo redeemable at some point. He squints at some of the pictures while making dramatic gestures. I think the actor cracked himself up. I know he cracked me up. Still playing the part of art collector, he offers to buy her painting. He claims it will be hanging in his New York apartment. She excuses herself to get glasses for the wine. While she’s gone, Cheo skulks into her bedroom. He goes through her drawers and grabs a pair of her panties. (Ok. Wine won’t fix that. Sorry dude. You aren’t redeemable any more.) He strips, gets in her bed, takes a selfie and manages to dress and get back to the studio room before Isa returns.

Meanwhile Isa calls Anto to ask him how much she should charge for the painting. She thinks 3 million dollars is fair. I know nothing about art, but I’m thinking that if you are getting 3 million for your paintings, you are pretty well known and someone else barters these deals. Please elucidate me. I really don’t know.

Padre V is an aguafiestas. He doesn’t think Sara should get her hopes up. She and Anto are too different. The have to paper rock scissors to decide who get the bear claw thingy.

At the restaurant, Marcelo has to give the manager his watch. Apparently Marcelo still owes a lot on his tab. A waiter spills lobster bisque on his hideous suit. Marcelo is a boorish jackass about it. The waiter puts some sort of spice in the replacement bowl. Unfortunately, Nat is the victim of that prank

Rafa is supposed to come pick David up from the apartment. Chepe has the day off and there’s a temp in his place. The stage is set for a massive series of misunderstandings that lead to a revelation.

Titina’s brothers ask the temp to call up to the “ingeniero’s”. The temp needs clarification. Ingeniero Andrade or the other one? The other one. Uh oh. That’s David. Not Sebas. But it’s dark and one of the hot head brothers punches David before the other two realize they’ve got the wrong guy. They run away. Rafa drives up and finds the unconscious David. Rafa calls for help. Anto, Simon and Bruno come running. David explains what happened. Rafa remembers Quique’s jealous threats and immediately assumes he hired the guys to beat up David. Rafa runs to confront Quique.

Quique is devastated that Rafa would think that he would hire someone to beat up anyone. He cries to Marina. Rafa is dead to him.

Back at the apartment, David remembers the ruffians saying something about “marrying” and “sister” and “Martina?” Sara and Anto realize it’s Titina and dunh dunh dunh she might be pregnant. Sara calls Titina. Titina refuses to talk over the phone. They plan to meet the next day at El Molcajete.

#102 Wednesday 11/11 Highlights Parte 2
Rick is now also demanding to talk directly to the informant in San Gaspar. Pedro still refuses.
Nat and Isa discuss Marcelo. Nat is done. As soon as she returns from Monterrey, she’s getting back with Sebas.

Sebas is still obsessing over Marcelo and watching the latest episode of his telenovela online. Sebas is determined to win back Nat. He puts some sort of salve on his tattooed food and wishes his mommy was there.

Anto takes David to the hospital for treatment. David is sporting an eye patch, but it does not color coordinate with his outfit a la Catalina Creel. While they wait, Anto explains to Rafa that it was Titina’s brothers that attacked David. Rafa is cara de uuups.

Simon is also an aguafiestas. He’s not convinced Anto will leave Isa either. If Anto does, Simon is still not convinced that it means Sara and Anto will be together.

Some potential sponsor dudes come to look at Simon’s rocket. One of them has a cheese company? Did I catch that right? Let me rewind. Yup. Cheese factory. Well played, show.

Titina admits to Sara that she’s pregnant. Crocodile tears and “I’d rather be raise the baby alone than force someone to marry me.” Please let Chebi know that. Sara tries to call Chebi, but it goes right to voice mail.

Sara calls Anto and tells him the news.
Sebas takes a tour of Televisa and manages to evade security and sneak into Marcelo’s dressing room. Marcelo left his phone. Nat calls. Sebas picks up. Verbal sparring. Sebas is crazy...crazy for Nat! They hang up. Anto calls Sebas and tells him about Titina. Sebas isn’t sure it’s even his child. Titina is no saint.

Marcelo enters the dressing room. Sebas jumps from behind the door and clocks Marcelo with a vase.

Fin.

Thanks, Sara! You da best :-)

"Let me rewind. Yup. Cheese factory. Well played, show." True!

So Sebas takes out Marcelo with a flower pot. Wouldn't a person do hard time for that?

Apparently Cheo is the reincarnation of Houdini, being able to have a little party in Isa's room w/o her catching him.

Denise

Gracias, Sara! The shenanigans just keep on coming! OK, as much as he gets on my nerves, Cheo as the fake art collector was awesome. But I kind of felt bad for Isa, being taken in by him.

"He squints at some of the pictures while making dramatic gestures." I was laughing so hard. But really, I thought Isa would be giving him the "Who does this guy think he is?" face behind his back and instead she was just SO excited!

"He strips, gets in her bed, takes a selfie and manages to dress and get back to the studio room before Isa returns." I don't know how he managed that when it looked like his suit was so tight....

"Some potential sponsor dudes come to look at Simon’s rocket." That never gets old. And then "Cheese factory." Hilarious!

"Sebas jumps from behind the door and clocks Marcelo with a vase." I don't know what his plan is with that, but um, I'm kind of ok with it.

Urgh! I still don't want to believe Titina's pregnant. And I don't know why anyone else is with zero proof.

Sara- So many things to chuckle about in these two episodes and your fabulous recaps. Thank you for doing double duty!

Yep, Cheo had me cracking up, until he stole those panties. Not cool, dude. Did Isa say tres mil or tres million? Three thousand pesos would be $179, and three million pesos would be $1,790. Neither price is outrageous for an art piece. Either way, more money than Cheo has, even if he had any intention of really buying it.

I have to say I'm in the same aguafiestas camp as Simon and Vicente. I'll believe that Tonio will dump Isa and start a public/formal relationship with Sara when I see it.

Poor David! Suffering for Sebastian's crimes.

I admit not paying super close attention so maybe she did say pesos? And erm, I may have just FFed through to jog my memory but not actually listened to what she said.

She really should have called Silvina (the gallery lady?) to talk price because it needs to jive with what she's asking for her other work. Which I guess doesn't matter because it's all fake!

And yeah, Simon and Padre are totally right. It still hurts though.

Kat- word. Simon's rocket is awesome. It will never fail to make me smile. I wonder if the queso thing was as funny in Spanish as it was through the lens of English. And another word for the whole Titina thing. Fingers crossed she's lying.

Denise- yikes! Sebas might be in real trouble! Sebas! You idiot! Hopefully the laws of telenovelaland will be in place and he can get away with it.

Hey Sara thanks for the Tues and Weds recaps, they were great!

Ok another reason I love this show

I notice Sebas is starting to act like Cheo(actually started thinking it when I read Denise's recap of last Fri) and then when I get home and watch my recording of Tues, Tonio tells Sebas the same thing I was just thinking! Yay show!
I don't know who the writers on this are (probably I should find out so I can watch more things they've written) but they are on my wavelength
del monton my left foot!

___
Ok anybody else think Cheo actually went in to Nata's bedroom instead of Isa's?

Oh also I kinda like con man Cheo
He's funny

Ok the imdb fairy has a whole bunch of people listed as writers and two directors
maybe I need to make a list

Thanks, sneaky! I'm not sure about the writers but the producer for this is Lucero Suarez. She did Amorcito Corazón, which is one of my faves. She also did Querida Enemiga, which spoken of highly on Caray.

Lord, today's episode has my heart in my throat for Bruno and Laura!

Sara- So the price for the art is $3,000. Not bad!

Ok. Thanks for keeping me straight with the details, Vivi!

Uh oh. What you've described doesn't sound good. :-(

"Ok anybody else think Cheo actually went in to Nata's bedroom instead of Isa's?"

OMG sneaky, now I know how you got your Caray handle

never, ever entered my mind, I wonder if it entered the writers minds?

La Vecina #103 Th 11/12/15 Part 1

Sebas leaves Marcelo passed out and gets out of his dressing room.

Marina points out to Rafa the irony of criticizing Quique for being impulsive and here he's the one who went to yell at Quique without having all the facts. Rafa decides to go apologize.

Fidel is checking out the rocket online and he's impressed with what he sees. He wants to buy ad space for the Artilleros and calls Quintin over to check out the rocket. One problem, though…Simon played for the Alados, so would he sell them ad space?

Rodobaldo and Padre V are also checking out the rocket. And considering buying an ad for the Alados.

Cheo rented suits for him and Roque both to go to the party. Roque complains. Shut up, Roque, and put on the suit you handsome devil. Cheo got him a black suit and tie so he can play the role of bodyguard.

Isa goes to Silvina's office to give her the update. She's bragging about how excited Juan Luith was about her paintings. More excited than Antonio has ever been. So why is she marrying him? Because she decided he would be hers and no one else's, and she doesn't like to lose. Seriously, what reasonable person hears that answer and doesn't start backing away slowly?

Juancho and Simon are excited about how many people want ads. Simon is happy to share this excitement with Edwina…and then Fidel shows up, asking about buying an ad for the Artilleros. Juancho says no way, that might keep the rocket from launching! Padre V is happy to hear Juancho say it, because the only team whose name should go on this rocket is the Alados! Fidel and Padre V argue. *sigh*

Antonio goes over to El Molcajete to say goodbye to Sara before he goes to the airport. He'll be back on Monday. Sara tells him not to say anything until he comes back. She fills him in that Titina's [allegedly] definitely pregnant. They can't resist a goodbye kiss and then he's gone.

On the front steps, he runs into Bruno and says he's going to the DF and taking David with him.

Bruno gets the Titina update from Sara and marvels at Sebas' capacity for getting into trouble. He asks Sara to call Laura and pass him the phone. Because we're in 7th grade. Bruno assures her that he loves Laura and Pedro's a scary guy. Sara's all "Duh! And that's why you need to leave her alone!"

The argument over the rocket rages on. Simon says he only wants the name of the best team on his rocket. So they'll have to hold a friendly to decide that. More arguing. I vote Simon and Edwina just get in the rocket now and shut the door.

Sara asks Laura to come over to El Molcajete. Yes, she knows about the Bruno situation. Laura happily agrees to come over.

David calls Licenciado Uribe to tell him about the attack and the fact that he's coming home. He lied and didn't tell him why he was attacked. He ignores an angry text from Ric and accepts a ride back to the apartment from Rafa.

Ric is upset. He ponders getting David involved in his little side business. He's fussy about having to have all the info go through Pedro. He decides to call him and tell him the email with his list of questions is on the way.

Marcelo feeds the press a BS story about the "attack" in his dressing room. Well, ok, I guess it was an attack and not an "attack." He holds up the really awesome drawing of Sebas, but says the most recent attack was carried out by a really big guy, blah, blah, blah…. Sebas sees the news report and blames it all on Titina. Because he has learned NOTHING! Uribe calls to tell him he's going back to San Gaspar to take David's place. Hahahahahahahaha!

Theme Song Happy Dance! I used to think the "vitaminas" line was kind of cheesy, but yeah, this is a daily dose of good stuff to keep me going :D

La Vecina #103 Th 11/12/15 Part 2

The questions have been passed on and Nelson and Pepe look them over, looking for a clue as to who the DF informant is. Based on what he's asking, he must be someone pretty high up, with access to confidential information. They don't know what to do, but right now, Quintin is looking for Nelson. Pepe frets.

Quintin is looking over his list and eliminating names. When Nelson comes in, Quintin puts pressure on him…to play in the friendly. For the pride of being the first fútbol team to send its name into space. On the side of a rocket.

Padre V is urgently trying to reach Bruno for the same reason. He tells Javi and Rodobaldo "If we win this game, we'll put the name of the Alados as high as Brasil itself with stars and everything!" Javi thinks maybe Padre V's been hittin' the Communion wine a little hard and Padre V explains about the rocket.

Uribe summons Ric to ask about the investigations and tell him that David was assaulted and nearly lost his eye. Incidentally, he reveals that Antonio is coming back for the weekend to go to Isa's showing.

Laura arrives at El Molcajete and has awkward small talk with Sara. She wants to know if Laura loves Bruno enough to leave Pedro. Once she reassures Sara, she's off to the kitchen. Sara tells Rosa the gossip, and Rosa thinks it's obvs that Laura would want Bruno and not that old fart Pedro. Hey! Oh, sorry…forgot we were talking about the character and not the actor for a second. Anyway, Rosa's on board with Operation Hide Laura and Bruno's Love from Prying Eyes.

In the kitchen, the romance is on low and slow. Bruno and Laura take their time with the approach and the "I love you"s and the sweet, sweet smoochies.

Pedro sees Laura's car parked at El Molcajete! [Insert terrified recapper face here!]

Laura and Bruno are talking about how difficult it will be for her to get away from Pedro, but still not coming up with a solution. They kiss instead. [GAAAAAAAAAH! YOU GUYS! PEDRO'S HERE!]

Sara and Rosa freak out at seeing Pedro and tell him Laura's in the bathroom. Rosa runs to the kitchen to tell Laura that Pedro's here and tell BRUNO to hide in the bathroom. Sara's behaving suspiciously. Laura has no explanation for what she's doing there. Rosa has a very loud voice and a copy of the "old" menu and she REALLY needs for Laura to talk them through some of the OLD menu items because the CUSTOMERS keep asking for them and they HAVE to keep the customers happy, right? Pedro looks bored already and tells Laura to talk to Rosa while he goes to the bathroom, but OH, SORRY, DON PEDRO, THEY'RE FIXING SOMETHING IN THE MEN'S ROOM RIGHT NOW! Rosa has to abandon them to get a check for another table. Laura is now TOO LOUD talking about how she was GOING TO SUGGEST they meet up for LUNCH. Pedro's all "Um, yeah, well, I saved you the call." Sara gets to the table with the AGUA DE SANDIA ("watermelon water" which is SUPER EASY to make and is just WATERMELON THAT YOU EITHER PUT THROUGH THE BLENDER or CRUSH THROUGH A STRAINER TO FILTER OUT THE PULP and since watermelon is SUPER JUICY, THAT'S BASICALLY ALL YOU HAVE TO DO, though if you WANT TO, YOU COULD ADD SOME SUGAR OR LIME JUICE OR MINT OR SOME EXTRA WATER and why am I talking loud? Sorry, it's the tension of the scene) and offers them an appetizer. Laura says Pedro LOVES the chicken sopecitos (little sopes, a sope being a rather thick disk of masa that's fried) with BOTH red AND green salsa. Pedro is rolling his eyes like he regrets setting foot in here.

La Vecina #103 Th 11/12/15 Part 3

Rosa tells Bruno to go out to the dining room and pretend he was fixing something. He reluctantly walks out there and tells Sara the "leak" is fixed. Pedro mocks him for going from agriculture to plumbing and grandly announces he's going to the bathroom now. Subdued!Bruno says goodbye to Subdued!Laura.

Seriously, y'all, that had better be all of the drama you were talking about in the comments up there because I don't know if I can take any more!

Anselmo sees Bruno leave the restaurant and thinks maybe Elias was right. [NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!]

Pedro returns from the men's room and pronounces Bruno's work excellent. It's completely dry in there, like there wasn't even a leak for him to fix. Sara nervously tells them what's on the menu today, Laura nervously orders, and Bruno disinterestedly says he'll have what Laura is having. [THOUGH PRESUMABLY HE MEANS THE LUNCH AND NOT THE SNOG IN THE KITCHEN!]

David gets back to the office and shocks Ligia. He has to get something to work on while he "rests" or he'll go mad. Ric breezes into his office and summons David. Ligia is pissed that Ric didn't even say anything about his eye. In the office, Ric continues being his usual charming self, but David is a new man. He's not Ric's to kick around anymore. And Ric had better not try to retaliate because he has "mucha cola que le pisen" ("plenty of tail to be stepped on", skeletons in the closet, things he'd rather not have known). David says he'll keep his mouth shut about what he knows, but that's it. He leaves and Ric, of course, vows revenge. Whatever, Ric. Like I'm supposed to find that intimidating after OMGPEDRO!!!!!

Antonio goes over to Sebastian's apartment. OK, what is that item of furniture over at Sebas' that gives the impression of a vending machine? It catches my eye every time. Is it some kind of cabinet with a bunch of little drawers and the drawer fronts are all different colors? Talavera tiles maybe? Anyway, Sebas knows he has to go back to SG and there's no way out short of quitting. And he knows he's going to end up getting dragged to the altar with Titina and there's no way out short of dying.

Natalia's trip to Monterrey got cancelled, so she'll be able to go to Isa's showing. And oh, BTW, Marcelo got attacked In his dressing room. Oh, yeah, well Sebastian's the one who did it! They have good laugh over it. Natalia ignores a call from Marcelo, the no-funds-check-writing loser! She's ready to make up with Sebastian tonight at the showing.

Back at the house, Pedro is furious that Laura was "wasting time" at El Molcajete. He is not appeased by her cheerfully bidding him a good afternoon and voluntarily giving him a peck on the lips. Seriously, Pedro…you're pissed when she doesn't want to kiss you, you're pissed if she kisses you on her own…just fall off a cliff already!

Juancho and Simon are trying to tell Bruno about today's rocket drama, but he's distracted. Laura calls him to tell him she got home ok and how Rosa covered for them. "What do we do?" Nobody knows.

Pedro gives instructions to drain some gas tonight from sundown to 5am. Anselmo asks Pedro about Bruno being at El Molcajete. Pedro is not suspicious at all. But then Anselmo tells him what Elias saw. Pedro calls Elias and tells him to be at the warehouse in half an hour. [NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!]

Oblivious to the danger, Laura and Bruno make plans to see each other somewhere other than El Molcajete. No…wait…what?! You guys! Seriously! This is not the kind of "What do we do?" planning you need to be doing here! Oh, sure, they love each other. Where's that going to get you when Pedro puts Bruno at the bottom of the lake? *sob* Simon and Juancho go back to rocket planning.

La Vecina #103 Th 11/12/15 Part 3

Elias gets to the warehouse and hands over the list of questions Quintin has been asking the workers, courtesy of Nelson. Like Pedro cares. He's just furious that Elias didn't tell him what he "saw" at the church. Helplessly, Elias explains that he wasn't entirely sure what he saw. Anselmo gloats and I just want to slap that smug look off his face. Pedro insists Elias should have told him anyway. Everything to do with Laura has to be reported to him IMMEDIATELY! If she so much as looks at another man, he wants to know. Elias will tail her 24/7 and if she meets with Bruno, he needs to tell Pedro IMMEDIATELY!

Can we not just have a freak accident kill Pedro off, like now? Please?

Sara gets home and Simon asks her what's going on between Bruno and Laura. Sara puts on an innocent face, but Simon knows better. She swears they're just friends and Simon sure hopes so. Sara distracts him with quesadillas. 2 of them. *sigh*

Javi is trying to talk to Bruno about the fútbol match, but all he can think of is Laura. Javi doesn't see a realistic way to get Laura free. It's not like Pedro's just going to agree to give her a divorce and let her go. He doesn't know what to do except tell Bruno to be careful…and focus on the match. Tense music plays.

*sob* THIS SHOW! *sob*

Fin.

Diva, your recap is absolutely gripping! I loved every word.

Here's a fav:" Javi thinks maybe Padre V's been hittin' the Communion wine a little hard and Padre V explains about the rocket." I loved this scene.

How can a show be so funny and so terrifying within the same hour?

Denise

Thank you, Denise! "How can a show be so funny and so terrifying within the same hour?" I know, right?! We've had OVNIs and the Smulk and friggin' Titina...and then there's Pedro and the saqueadores, and somehow they manage to make all these things coexist in the same little universe and it just works.

"Shut up, Roque, and put on the suit you handsome devil." yes, please. And can we get him a larger role please? He was so good in DQTQTQ. I still get sad about his character dying.

The theme song "vitaminas" os my favorite. And the "me hace suspirar"

I haven't watched the episode, but my heart started racing with your description and comments about Bruno, Laura and Pedro.

"Whatever, Ric. Like I'm supposed to find that intimidating after OMGPEDRO!!!!!" WORD. Rick, you amateur.

It kind of scary how often Caray mates collectively notice things. I've been staring at that cabinet/vending machine as well. Tea? Or condoms?

"*sob* THIS SHOW! *sob*"

Right there with what Denise said. So terrifying and so light at the same time. A testament to its not del montón-ness.

Luis Gatica as Pedro is very good casting. He is not over playing it. He is calm and chilling. *shudder*

Thank you for a wonderful recap, Kat!

Kat- You captured all my emotions while watching this episode. Right down to telling Roque to shut up and put on the damn suit that will make him look so fine. :)

But the rest of the episode, I was just terrified for Bruno and Laura. Sara and Rosa are such terrible liars. They really aren't the best people to turn to to help you cover up your affair.

When David listened to that phone message from Ric, I kid you not, my very first thought was, "Gee, David has a really jealous and controlling boyfriend." LOL! Then I realized it was Ric. So no, Ric does not instill the same blood freezing fear in me as Pedro does. :)

Super recap 5ft.
I missed it, but your recap was so thorough that I don't have to search online.

What does David have on Ric? At first I thought David was a bad guy, but now I think he is ok.

Variopinta- David knows that Ric has been sleeping with Tonio's fiance, and also knows Ric takes any opportunity he can to sabotage Tonio. But he doesn't know about the really bad stuff like the gas thieves/inside man stuff.

And another thing.
How can this novela provoke this much terror with virtually no gore?

Denise

Do you think it could be good writing?! Obvious Mejia has nada to do with it.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Vario, please collect your prize!

:)

My prize, hmmm, I guess it would be dinner at El Molcajete, 'cause all the guys are way too young

You should be receiving your gift certificate soon. (Non transferable.)

:-)

I will definitely be cking Groupon

Be sure to order the rose petal ice cream and tell us about it.

(I have not been able to stop thinking about that since Sara made it.)

La Vecina, Friday, 11/13 Part 1

Lo refrito:
Simón is telling Sara how strangely Bruno is acting – secret phone calls, fake excuses. Sara changes the subject by offering to make quesadillas for them both. “Que sean dos”(make it two), agrees Simón.

Javi to Bruno: “You gotta concentrate on the game. You’re way to distracted.”
Bruno: All I can think about is Laura. That mafioso has bought her and keeps her with him through intimidation.”

Rafa gets home to find a note slipped under his door from Quique saying that he was very hurt to hear Rafa’s accusation. He asks forgiveness for the bad situations that he put Rafa in at times. He was so happy with Rafa, but now he understands that this is the end, and he will return to Tulancingo.
Rafa tries to call Quique, but can only leave the message,”Quique, forgive me. You don’t know how bad I feel about this. Please don’t go.”

At the exposición, Isa tells her father about Juan Luis Espinotha, the “coleccionista” who will purchase three of her paintings. She doesn’t know what he does for a living, but one can tell he is very worldly and sophisticated.
Nati is waiting at the top of the stairs, near the entrance, for Sebas to appear. At the bottom of the stairs Anto and Sebas greet Mariana and Héctor. Anto confronts Héctor about squealing to Isa the fact that Sara stayed in Anto’s apt. that fateful night months ago. Mariana says “Whaaaat? You did whaaaat? I told you not to say anything! You and I are done!” [Good call, Mariana.] She goes upstairs.
Héctor says to Anto,”If I lose Mariana b/c of you, you are going to be sorry.”
Anto: “Because of me? You’re the jerk who let my sister down.”
Nati finally sees Sebas with Mariana and asks to speak to him alone.
Cut back to Isa and her family talking about the collector again.

Sara gets a call from the gate telling her that a certain “Titina” is there to see her.
Sara will go down – Don’t send Titina in!
Titi to Sara: “Have you seen Chebi? Have you spoken with him? Are you hiding him? I need to speak with my parents (about the “embarazo”), and I would like to be able to tell them what Chebi says. Will you tell me when you know something?”
Sara: “Um. Sure.”

Nati tells Sebas that she can no longer bear to be without him. There was never anything between her and Marcelo. They kiss.
Nati: “All I want is for you to tell me how much you love me.”
Sebas: “There’s just one teensy weensy problem... I have to go back to San Gasp.”
Nati: “You’re a jerk! I hate you.!”

Anto and Isa pose for pictures in front of one of her paintings. Anto says she looks very happy. Isa: “How can I not be? I’m fulfilling a big dream here. Only thing missing is marrying you.”
Anto’s mind goes to his last meeting with Sara, where she wishes him the best and implies that she will be waiting for him. Oh, and their yummy kiss.
Anto makes an excuse when Isa asks what he is thinking about.
Nati approaches and whisks Isa away.
Slick Ric walks up from behind and greets Antonio. Emma sees this and runs to Isa to insist that she get Ricardo to leave.

Laura is setting the table at home when Pedro enters. [Recapper’s stomach lurches.] Pedro is offering disculpas for the testy way he has been acting with Laura lately. He’s so sorry. Gosh, she can even go to the Molcajete and hang out with Sara to swap recipes if she wants to. Pedro gives Laura a sicky sweet smile. She looks relieved. As she goes to get Pedro’s dinner, he thought bubbles, ”Just gonna let you get over confident. I wouldn’t want to be you if I find out you’re seeing Bruno.” [Recapper’s gonna be sick now.]

La Vecina, Friday Part 2

Sebas, Anto and Ric at the expo. Turns out Ric is an art lover. He thought he’d just come over and check out Isa’s talents. He particularly likes “Crepúsculo.” Too bad it is sold. “Oh really, how much did it sell for?” asks Ric. “Three thousand bucks,” says Anto. Sebas:”They’re not bargaining or offering free credit, so I think this isn’t for you.”
Isa walks up. Ric: “Isabel, your work is splendid. I’m thinking of purchasing something!” Isa: “Great. If you want, I can show you my pieces myself!”
Ric: “Who better to show me the goods than the artist herself?” [Pffffft!]

Bruno enters the apt, and Sara asks where he has been. With Javi at the pool area. Sara says Simón was asking about Bruno’s mysterious behavior. Why doesn’t he just tell Simón what is going on? Bruno’s phone rings with Laura on the other end. She wants to see Bruno at El Molcajete tomorrow.
All right! Pedro must not be suspicious after all!

Isa to Ric: “What the hell are you doing here?”
Ric: “I just wanted to see how your paintings turned out... If you tell me which one you painted thinking of our nights of passion, I’ll buy it.” [said with a Ric sneer.]
Silvina walks up and tells Isa that el Sr. Espinoza has arrived.
Isabel is introducing “el Sr. Espinoza” to her family when Anto walks in and recognizes Cheo. [Dang, Cheo’s got some agallas!]

Theme song: Doo doo dee doo. ... es mía nada más...

We have masked, incipient pandemonium at the expo. Ric also recognizes Cheo. Ric to Anto: “Isn’t that the “tipo” who came to my office?” Anto: “Cállate!”

Sara is chatting with Bruno. She tells him how Anto told her that he’s not so sure of his feelings for Isabel. Bruno looks at her with an expression of pity. Sara goes on to tell Bruno how Cheo went to the D.F. to make trouble for Antonio.

At the expo, Antonio discusses with Sebas how to get rid of Cheo without making a scene that would ruin Isa’s night. Anto will tell Silvina this guy is an imposter. But he has to wait until the famous art critic is finished comment on Isa’s oeuvre.

Art Critic (Ha ha – I recognize this actor.) says Isa’s work shows a “transformation.” Her earlier pieces are all neutral colors, whereas there is a change towards passionate colors in her later stage. (Cheo is a riot here.)
(The woman who interrupts – is that the actress who plays Marta in “Lichita?”)

Cheo has excused himself to answer a call from Sara. He’s gloating to her about his exploints when Anto approaches. Cheo continues bragging about how he’s putting one over on everyone. Anto threatens to throw him out. Cheo says, “You and who else?” and goes back upstairs, leaving Anto to fume by himself.

Sebas tries to make Nati understand, but without giving her any information that would allow her to understand. In front of Sebas, she accepts a call from Marcelo and invites him to join her at the expo.

Anto confronts Cheo in front of, well, everybody, and we have THE SCENE that Cheo was hoping for. Anto says Cheo is an imposter, and Cheo says, That’s right, and your novia and I had a fun roll in the hay last night in her apartment! Anto lunges for Cheo who manages to take his leave. Guillermo demands to know what this all means. Anto leaves to catch up to Cheo as Guillermo glowers at Anto’s father.

Outside, Anto confronts Cheo again. Mutual insults ensue. Sara rings Roque’s phone. Cheo puts her on speaker. Eduardo walks up. Cheo and Anto still yelling insults. Anto lunges for Cheo, but Eduardo gets in between and breaks up the party. Eduardo tells his son to for God’s sake put a rest to his obsession with “la otra.” “She has a name, Father. Her name is Sara.”

Antonio goes back inside where Guillermo, furious, insists that Anto get out of there. Anto refuses to comply and brushes past him to go find Isabel.

Sara is out of her mind with worry. Should she call Antonio?

La Vecina, Friday Part 3

Isabel is in some inner sanctum room, flanked by Natalia and Silvina. Emma is there too. Anto enters the room and asks Isa how she is doing. She lets the recriminations fly. She is paying for all of Anto’s bad deeds. She takes off her ring to hand it to Antonio, telling him to go make himself happy with his “vecina.” She tells Emma to leave with Anto, but Emma says she won’t leave Isa “in this state.”

Simón and Bruno talk Sara out of calling Antonio. She heads off to bed. Simón and Bruno continue to comment about Sara and Anto’s situation. Anto should never have gotten Sara’s hopes up before talking to Isabel, they decide.
In her room, Sara says to the love gods that she can’t take being in suspense much longer. It’s killing her.

Downstairs at the expo, Anto brings Sebas up to speed, with Ric standing there like a bobblehead doll. Ric says, “If you love her, you must fight for her!”
Anto and Sebas look at Ric as if he had just grown two horns. They decide to leave as we see Marcelo head up the stairs.

Cheo and Roque are at a bar. Cheo is not done. He is going to get Anto’s address “para rematar.”(to do this thing up right.) Roque’s protests are in vain.

Emma tries to reason with Isabel. “Antonio will make this all clear if you will just listen to him,” she offers. Isa isn’t having any of it. She is ruined. Her career is ruined. She’s so done. Emma is also done – being nice. “Look, Chikadee. It’s a no-go to play the saint with me.” “Go ahead and tell your son you saw me kissing Ricardo. Let’s see what explanation you give him for your silence all this time!”
(Emma cara de Darn! She wins again!)

Guillermo insists that Eduardo tell him if he knew all along about Antonio and the “vecina.” Eduardo tries to put a band-aid on the situation, but there’s no resuscitating this patient. Isa walks in and tells her Dad to take her home. Silvina approaches and is sad to inform Isa that she will have to close the expo and return Isa’s paintings to her “a la brevedad”(ASAP).

Chelo is sorry to hear about the events at the expo. Could he and Nati still go out, since he got all snazzy in his silver lamé suit? “Bueno, okay,” says Nati.

Rafa’s phone rings. “Quique?” he answers. But, no, it’s Anselmo reporting on a clandestine siphoning of Conatrol’s gas line. Rafa writes down the info Anselmo gives him.

Emma is letting Eduardo have it. If you had given Antonio an “hasta aquí” (put a stop to it), none of this would have happened!
Ed: “I tried, Woman, but he said he wasn’t doing that anymore!”
She insists they do everything in their power to patch things up between Isa and Antonio. If they don’t, they will face financial ruin.

Anto gets the info from Rafa about the newest válvula. Anto says it’s very suspicious, and must be from the saqueadores themselves to throw them off the scent.

Isa to her Dad: “I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life. Suddenly I have no career and no marriage. It’s all that “vecina’s” fault! Wainn, wainn, wainn.
Guillermo: “Forget Antonio. He doesn’t deserve you.”
They walk into the night, arm in arm.

Cue the music.

Prayers for Paris.

Denise- Yes, what happened in Paris is so terrible. Definitely going to bed thinking of the people of that city tonight.

Thank you for the sparkling recap. Please let something prevent Pedro and his goons from busting Laura and Bruno at Molcajete.

Despite the high drama this episode, I actually think it was mainly a good one. Mariana broke up with her jerk of a novio, and Isa broke up with Tonio. However, I would have preferred if Tonio had manned up and broken things off himself (or at least pocketed that ring to show he accepted the breakup). I'm glad that Isa's dad is supporting the breakup. Emma should just shut up and butt out.

I'm also glad that Nat retracted her reconciliation with Sebas. He has in no way learned his lesson, nor seems apologetic enough. Let him suffer some more under the threat of Titina and her brothers.

Thanks Denise! I'm only through part one, but I want to give you a hug. I haven't seen the episode yet. You really are taking one for the team. Damn Pedro. I'm also queasy thinking about what's going to happen.

Back to reading.

"Sara says Simón was asking about Bruno’s mysterious behavior. Why doesn’t he just tell Simón what is going on?"

Right? Laura needs help. Not smoochies on the sly. Please, Bruno... Talk to your friends. (This show has got me thinking that I need to know more about helping battered women. I don't know what I would do if someone confided that they were being abused by their spouse.)

Bruno’s phone rings with Laura on the other end. She wants to see Bruno at El Molcajete tomorrow.
All right! Pedro must not be suspicious after all!

Argh! Are they seriously that trusting of Pedro?

"Cheo is a riot here."
Can't wait to see this part!

What an exciting recap! Does the patio really feel like this is the last we'll see of Isa?

Thank you again, Denise.

(Yes. Prayers for Paris. I am speechless and can't stop thinking about all the people affected.)

Vivi and Sara - Thanks so much for your comments :-)

I think the writers were definitely having fun with us when they had Isabel offer to show Ric her wares.

Denise

Denise, thank you for the Friday recap.

I think I'm in shock right now. "Anto confronts Cheo in front of, well, everybody, and we have THE SCENE that Cheo was hoping for." So hating Cheo right now. Way to screw things up for someone who had nothing to do with anything that happened. I know Isa's not an innocent, but THIS is not what she deserved. Now, if Ric had made a scene, well, at least that would have made some sense, I guess.

Speaking of Ric, "Anto and Sebas look at Ric as if he had just grown two horns." I think I said "What the hell are you still doing here?!" That was hilarious!

"I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life. Suddenly I have no career and no marriage. It’s all that “vecina’s” fault! Wainn, wainn, wainn." Totally.
