La Vecina Highlights and Discussion, #110-113*, Nov. 23-27

*The Thursday episode will likely be preempted.

Happy Thanksgiving Week, Amigas  and (lurking) Amigos!

Sara is already off on her Thanksgiving vacation, so I am posting this week’s La Vecina page. I’m sure things will be a bit slow here on the La Vecina Patio this week, so let’s just play it by ear. Whoever wants to recap, feel free to claim a day. If not, we can just discuss.

We ended last week with a few cliffhangers…

Will Sara be able to fly solo, without Antonio in her ear(piece), and convince the local government leaders to support Conatrol’s plans?
Will Simon be able to overcome his stage fright and host a web chat about his rocket?
Will Sabastian escape the clutches of Titina’s muscle-bound brothers, in one piece, and will he have to marry her?
Will Tonio actually stay in bed long enough to recover from his Dengue fever?
Will Padre Vicente ever be able to finish eating a meal in peace?

And the biggest question of all, did Rosa survive the explosion in El Molcajete????

Let’s get on with this week’s discussion!

Monday Recap, # 110, Part 1:

Yes, Rosa DID survive the explosion. Whew! Luckily, she went outside to throw away all that rotten food from the unplugged fridges, and wasn’t in the kitchen when it exploded. She is having some temporary residual deafness, however. She tries not to freak out, as the EMT attends to her. She tells Quintin that she thinks it was not an accident, but provoked, and lets him know about the unplugged fridges.

Quintin calls Fidel and tells him about the suspicions. Fidel interrupts Padre Vicente’s meal, and the two go off to check on Rosa, the restaurant, and to try to contact Sara (her phone keeps going to voicemail). Vicente calls Simon, and Simon informs them Sara is caring for sick Tonio.

Sara is busy flying solo with the government reps. Her phone died, and therefore also her contact with Tonio via the Bluetooth. She wings it, and scold the gov reps for being so focused on numbers (which she now can’t provide), when the real issue is what will happened to their town and region if Conatrol is forced to close—people will move away looking for work, taking their families with them; schools will close; businesses will lose costumers and also close; total economic depression for the town and region will follow! She then accuses them of standing in Conatrol’s way, instead of doing much to help, when Conatrol has been investing so much time and money to solve the saqueador problem. Step it up, fellas! They all nod their heads in agreement. Sara is a hit.

Meanwhile, Tonio frets from his bed, and Bruno tries to get him not to worry. Rafa finally finishes up checking on that gas line, and Tonio sends him to the Mayor’s office to check on Sara. Sara has already left, however, and the government official there says Sara made an “impression.” Rafa doesn’t know if this is good or bad, so he and Tonio continue to fret.

Uribe is also fretting in D.F., so he has Ric call around to find out what’s happening. He finds out from the Mayor’s office that the meeting with Sara Granados is still happening. Ric is licking his chops at this info. He calls Marina and finds out Tonio is sick, at home. He calls Tonio, and gets on his case about sending Sara. He doesn’t care that Tonio is sick and Sebas and Rafa were unavailable. Ric tells Tonio he owes him a favor because he didn’t tell Uribe. Then he gloats to himself that Sara will mess the whole thing up, and he’ll get to celebrate Tonio’s total failure.

Ric gets the news about the explosion from Pedro. Then he calls Isa and tells her he successfully ruined Sara’s life by blowing up her restaurant. Isa is only sad that Sara wasn’t inside. But she’s happy enough to pay Ric for the service, without even seeing photos of the finished job. She decides now is the time to go to San Gaspar to fight for Tonio (and take him from Sara).

Part 2:

Pedro plays the concerned citizen and goes to Molcajete, while Fidel, Padre, and Simon are there. He is the owner, after all, but his main concern is that everyone is ok. Of course, he expects there will be some structural damage that will mean the restaurant can’t open for a LONG time. Simon gives him the stink eye (he’s sure he will make Sara pay him anyway). Fidel explains that they think the explosion was provoked, and mentions the unplugged fridges. Pedro is NOT happy about this, and rips Anselmo a new one in the car. Anselmo thinks (hopes) the fire investigators won’t find anything. Plus, any employee could have accidentally unplugged the fridges. Yeah, right…

Sebastian finally earns release from the hotel room, when he agrees to marry Titina and signs the contract correctly with his real name. His freedom only goes as far as the hotel restaurant, where the brothers eat happily, and Sebas looks on miserably, as they wait for Titina. The brothers sit at a table behind them as they (Titina) speak about their plans to marry in 2 weeks. When Sebas protests marrying in the Church, the bros are right there at Sebas’ neck, to make sure he steps back in line.

Later that evening, alone in his room, Sebas drinks all the mini bottles of liquor and cries at his miserable lot. He drunk dials Natalia, and for the first time really sounds like he understands how thoroughly he messed up what they had and apologizes. He’s a crying mess, and hangs up. Nat is clearly affected. She calls Isa and says she will join her on her trip to San Gaspar.

Sara has come back triumphant from her meeting, and puts Tonio’s fears to rest. He is super happy and grateful to her. She hops into bed with him, and Bruno takes his leave. Tonio and Sara cuddle, he tells her he loves her and can’t live without her, they start smooching pretty passionately, and Tonio gets dizzy as his temperature spikes again. Sara cuts the passion down to just cuddling and Tonio falls asleep. Padre Vicente comes over and tells Sara about the explosion, just as Tonio stumbles out of bed and nearly falls over when he hears about it. Vicente and Sara take Tonio back to bed, and the three discuss the explosion, Rosa being ok, and the possibility someone sabotaged her restaurant. Tonio holds Sara’s hand as he pledges to help her any way he can. The hand holding is not missed by Vicente’s disapproving eye.

The henchman reports to his boss that Tonio hasn’t left his house in 3 days. Boss tells him to find a way to lure him out, and then KILL him!

Thank you Vivi! We had a few too many hands on the DVR remote this morning and my recording was deleted. Boo! But Rosa survived, so YAY and thank you for putting that right up front!

"She wings it, and scold the gov reps for being so focused on numbers...." This is what makes her so perfect for the community relations post!

"She decides now is the time to go to San Gaspar to fight for Tonio (and take him from Sara)." NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

"Nat is clearly affected. She calls Isa and says she will join her on her trip to San Gaspar." YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Unless somebody else wants today, I'll take it. I'm about to start watching now.

Kat- Oh, no! You need to keep a watchful eye on that DVR. Glad the recap was helpful then. I'm looking forward to today's episode and your recap later.

One sweet scene I did not include in my recap. When Simon starts freaking out about doing the live web chat, nothing that Juancho or Edwina suggest seems to calm him down (imagine you're speaking to just one person-- still nervous; imagine you're not speaking to anyone-- why would I be speaking to no one?). Edwina takes his hand and asks how can she help him. He looks down at their entwined hands, and says, "Just like this- holding my hand." Awwww!!!!

Awwwwww! That is sweet :D

I'm really annoyed with Uni for not having this show available to view anywhere else when it's SO GOOD.

*sigh* OK, I was inspired by your post to combine and condense and summarize, Vivi, and it's just not happening. It's a long-winded day.

I don't mind long-winded. Love your recaps, Kat! Every word is a gift.

Vivi thanks so much for the page and the recap

I loved that scene with Edwina and Simon, in fact I love all the scenes with them, as long as they're not fighting, then I still like them but I don't like the fight. (did that make sense outside my head?)

ooooh Isa, what a *&#@% it was seriously creepy when she asked if Sara had been scarred or maimed, so gleefully when she heard about the explosion and said she wished she had been burned on the face, who does that, ungh she has really worn out all the sympathy I felt for her when Ric was messing with her head.

La Vecina #111 Tu 11/24/15 Part 1

Antonio gives Uribe a broad update --the government will help them out to keep the plant from shutting down--and promises a "detailed report" later. All without mentioning Sara.

Padre V is frustrated with Sara holding hands with Antonio…and Bruno not resting…and Sara taking meetings in Antonio's place. What if they find out she doesn't even work for Conatrol?! He makes an "I smell poop" face when Sara says Antonio loves her.

Antonio is saying it to himself, both verbally and via flashbacks about how awesome and supportive Sara has always been and what a raving shrew Isa has always been.

Ric's bank balance is rapidly approaching the size of his ego thanks to the latest payment from Isa. Her disgust with him is also growing at a similar rate.

Padre V doubts the sincerity of Antonio's "love"…what if it's just gratitude for saving his bacon yet again? Bruno kinda wonders the same and I kick him in his non-injured shin. At least Padre V agrees not to go interrogate Antonio in his weakened state.

Uribe updates Ric and he is visibly disappointed (to us, not to Uribe) that the government is going to help them keep the plant open. He makes up some BS about having a plan that will help support Antonio's plan. Other than trying to make himself look good, I have no clue what he's talking about, but Uribe tells him now's the time to present it, so we'll see what he comes up with.

The cops have their hands full with the explosion at El Molcajete, so fútbol practice is cancelled. Nelson is alarmed when he hears about the explosion.

Sara does go to talk to Antonio about Padre V's doubts. He insists they love each other and they can make it work, as long as they're together. *SMOOCHIES*

Nelson tells Pepe about the explosion and his eyes look like they're about to pop out of his head. He really thinks it's time to come clean before anything worse happens. Nelson would rather tell Antonio than Rafa, so much so that he's willing to go to his house.

Antonio loves Sara like he's never loved anyone else before. Don't we all. She feels the same way about him, but it worries her--what if something happens to him? He says nothing will happen. He encourages her to check on Rosa at the very least, since they won't let her into the restaurant until the investigation is complete.

Simon explains to Juancho about the investigation and says Sara will need their help. Juancho wonders if they can do something similar to what they're doing with the rocket, to raise money--sell El Molcajete swag. Dude, I'm in! I want a t-shirt, a coffee mug, and a tote bag. Simon's part has arrived and the delivery guy can't take his eyes off Simon's rocket. Yeah, it has that effect on people. Oh, I just noticed the label! "Rocket industries" Simon tells Juancho about how the part was made in Mexico, 'cause Mexico's got tech, yo.

Laura waters her plant and her reverie about Bruno is interrupted by Cheo coming to the door looking for Pedro. She gives him the brush-off and then gets a suspicious look on her face. And then I scream at the TV because Eladio calls Pedro and tells him Laura "acaba de recibir una visita en su casa" (just received a visitor at your house) and NO SHE DIDN'T! She answered the door and told him to take a hike because she knows damn well her rat bastard of a controlling husband wouldn't look kindly on her acting like a free-thinking, independent woman, and daring to CALL him in the middle of the day to help some random dude make an appointment with him. And now she's still going to get in trouble for it. Me lleva! I'm kicking Eladio in the shins. Repeatedly! Pedro won't even let him go see what's going on, he's just going to talk to Laura later. With his fists, I assume. I'm kicking him, too.

La Vecina #111 Tu 11/24/15 Part 2

RPC Titina and Sebastian. He cancels dinner with her parents tonight. And then swears to himself he'll never cheat again.

Theme song! Inhale the happy vibes…exhale tension….

Laura calls Sara, probably to tell her about Cheo, but she ends up hearing about El Molcajete. Pedro never bothered telling her. The cops already suspect this was an attack. Laura now suspects Cheo of having something to do with it. Sara is going to pick up Rosa and bring her over to Laura's since her rat bastard of a controlling husband is still having her watched by an incompetent tool.

RPC Cheo and Roque. Cheo needs money. He blames Sara for Laura telling him to get lost.

Rosa and Sara arrive at Laura's. Laura has a letter for Bruno. Laura thinks Cheo did it because he's angry and came looking for Pedro. Rosa disagrees because if he did it, he wouldn't be looking for Pedro, knowing Pedro owns the place! Laura asks about the restaurant. The kitchen is completely wrecked. Laura mentions insurance and says she'll look for the paperwork and see if maybe it's still valid. [Noooooo, don't search the paperwork! Who knows what else you'll find! Danger! Danger!] Sara and Rosa are encouraging her to gain Pedro's trust again so she can "get on with her life." How about we all plot how to bump off Pedro so she can get on with her life? Too bad it's not that kind of show. Laura takes off her jacket and they see the marks; she begs them not to say anything.

Turns out that Simon didn't leave himself adequate room to install the new part. Someone's going to have to crawl in there to do the install and neither he nor Juancho will fit. They need someone with narrower shoulders. Juancho suggests Edwina, because she's fairly small, though she's "media caderona" ("kinda hippy" From: media=mid, medium; caderas=hips; -ona=chick who has/is) or hasn't Simon ever noticed? I'm appalled Juancho's been checking her out, but then I crack up laughing because I'm mentally high-fiving him for pointing out her hips to Simon. And no, I don't believe for a second that Simon has never noticed.

Isa is fussing because she can't find anything online about the explosion. Creep. Natalia comes home and catches some of Isa's fussy mood. They'll be in San Gaspar tomorrow night.

RPC Titina's place. Eldest brother makes eyes at Titina's BFF. Titina has a craving. Tastless joke. BFF is having a lawyer analyze the "contract" to see if it's valid.

Rafa needs Nelson to supervise the pump testing. He needs Pepe to go check on one of the tanks. So much for going to Antonio's.

Pedro comes home and Sara and Rosa are still there. Laura brings up the insurance and puts Pedro on the spot. Sara makes pointed comments to Pedro, which really pisses me off because she KNOWS now that if she pisses off Pedro, it's Laura who's going to pay. I can't decide if her look when she turned back to hug Laura before she left was her realizing that or just feeling sorry for Laura in general. And Pedro IS pissed--that Laura put him on the spot. He tries to trip her up by asking if she's got anything else to tell him and then tunes out as she starts talking about Cheo's visit and Sara's suspicions. He thought bubbles that she doesn't seem to be hiding anything. Ass.

On the ride home, Rosa says with a suspicious, controlling, rat bastard of a husband, it's no wonder Laura always seems so scared. Sara doesn't want to tell Bruno or he'll go confront Pedro. Serious conversation ends as they move on to Sara+Antonio=2 gether 4 ever.

Pepe calls Rafa. The test started on time and he'll wait for it to be done. He gets a call from Pedro and tells him he never called about the meeting because all he knows is that Antonio is sick.

Crap. Isa's dad is auditing the company that Antonio's dad is the co-owner of. Ema and her stupid car!

La Vecina #111 Tu 11/24/15 Part 3

Antonio's dad is having trouble closing a deal because Guillermo isn't taking his calls. Ema is upset that ANTONIO has caused this problem for them. And BTW she needs money to pay her credit cards. They have an ugly fight about who wants to spend money on what and she finally agrees to cut back on expenses. AFTER the bill gets paid.

Padre V calls looking for Simon. He's desperate to confab with him about the Sara and Antonio situation. Bruno is suddenly all about how the more they fuss, the more determined Sara's going to get.

Simon goes to talk to Edwina about helping the rocket get closer to the inevitable liftoff in a much more intimate way than previously. She says he didn't need to flatter her with talk about her slim figure in order to get her on board. "I'm VERY flexible…." Oh, Simon believes her. He also brought a tape measure so he could measure her back. Edwina obligingly stands up and turns around and Simon's eyes are drawn to her…assets…as the tape measure drops to his lap in a way that might not have been nearly as suggestive had they not just been conversing about the rocket. Or to someone who doesn't have the mind of a twelve-year-old, so…not me! He manages to stand up and measure her shoulders, but he's definitely counting down to liftoff. IfyouknowwhatImean. AndIthinkyoudo.

Sara gets home. Bruno bugs her about Antonio. Then she gets all schmoopy he tells her to pipe down already. I agree. Less talk, more smoochies! Sara hands over the letter and updates him on how Laura is doing. And she even tells him that as far as she knows Pedro hasn't hit Laura, but he's still furious. Sara leaves him to read his letter in peace.

Pedro calls Ric and gets the update about Antonio's health, and Sara going to the meeting and thereby avoiding being blown to bits. Ric says he can use this to sink Antonio. If all goes as planned, he'll be in charge at San Gaspar soon. Pfft! Whatever.

Sara finds Antonio asleep and panics. He swears he's fine, just tired and not able to concentrate on work. He jokes that she shouldn't worry--bad things only happen to him when she's around. *SMOOCHIES*

Bruno writes Laura a letter about how she shouldn't have to be with Pedro by force and one day they'll be together and no one will separate them. Simon gets home and Bruno passes on the message that Padre V is looking for him. Simon thinks Antonio and Sara are moving too fast and bound for disaster. He can imagine the doubts Padre V must have, and heads out to talk to him. Bruno resumes his letter.

Sara and Antonio are still smooching. Schmoopy talk. AKA, "tempting fate." More smoochies. Antonio unzips Sara's dress and…FIN!

Diva thanks soo much for the recap, I was making pies and missed the first part so I really needed the fill in

*giggle* "He makes an "I smell poop" face when Sara says Antonio loves her."
ok, I might be damaged by a certain other tn I'm watching, but Antonio's professions of love and saying he will fight against anything or anyone to be with Sara isn't convincing me. I wish it was. He seems sincere, I hope he follows through.

"He manages to stand up and measure her shoulders, but he's definitely counting down to liftoff. IfyouknowwhatImean. AndIthinkyoudo."
Simon seems to have an 'I can wait, it's gonna happen sooner or later so no rush' attitude about his relations with Edwina, and while I like that, and its cute and sexxy I want him to make a move already (but not as much as Edwina, I'm sure)

I loved this whole recap, Kat. From start to finish. Especially the parts about Simon and Edwina. :)

Media caderona. I love it! Can't believe Juancho has been checking Ed out enough to notice.

I'm almost as much of a doubter as Vicente about Tonio's follow through with Sara. Until I see him stand in front of Isa and his parents and tell them that Sara is his novia, I won't believe it.

Vivi and Diva, thanks so much for doing these excellent recaps. OMG I love this novela and I adore this patio. Speaking of which, I hope we hear from our Sara soon.

Denise

You're welcome, Denise! Sara won't have internet connection most of this week, but she's well and will be back on the Patio next week.

And another thing: Did anyone else think "No,no,no" as Bruno wrote that note to Laura?
How is Pedro not going to find that?

Denise

Denise- YES! I was shouting in my head, DO NOT SEND THAT NOTE TO LAURA! In fact, I started making up scenarios for him and Laura to communicate, including Sara having to memorize word for word what Bruno writes, and just recite it Laura from memory when she sees her. Anything, so that there isn't any physical evidence Pedro can find.

Thank you vivi and Diva for recapping! Enjoyed them very much and very helpful since I had to FF much of the last 2 episodes.

Wow who knew rocket and science talk could be so steamy! Sneaky2shoes I like your take on their relationship. So true, Simon taking it slow & easy and Edwina wanting to get this party started. And I find it pretty funny that it's juancho who is seeing all this unfold.

So many *SMOOCHIES*, yup Sara+Anotnio= 2gether 4ever pretty much sums it up. I have a bit more faith that he will follow through now that his engagement has been broken off, although it would of been nice if it was Tonio who did the breaking. He seems to finally understand that love and awesomeness > bitchy shrew. But yeah he needs to confess it outside this bedroom bubble he and Sara created for me to become a true believer.

UA should totally do a post about villains who scare us the most. Pedro would definitely be up there. Agree no physical evidence whatsoever. Even then I would be worried to even think about certain things around him. He has this cold quiet stare that seems to wait for you to break.

jlk

And thanks Vivi for updating us on sara

jlk

Thank you, sneaky two shoes! I admit, hearing anything that comes close to "fight for our love" leaves me a little twitchy these days.

We watched some of the Star Wars movies over the weekend and every conversation that Anakin and Padme had where they went in circles about "I love you/We can't be together" I kept thinking *those* words were going to come out of somebody's mouth. Paranoia or whoever wrote that dialogue has been watching TNs too...?

I'm really concerned about Isa showing up and bursting the bubble.

Gracias, Vivi! I certainly enjoy writing about Simon and Edwina :D I love them as a couple, plus all the thinly veiled (or completely imagined) rocket references challenge me to get creative.

Gracias, Denise! I agree that having anything in writing makes me nervous. At least when Pedro sees the number in caller ID Laura can say she was talking to Sara, but those love letters...gah! Danger! Danger!

Gracias, jlk! Science is sexay ;) And Pedro is indeed terrifying. And I love me some Luis Gatica, but boy do I need his next role to be something not menacing.

Wednesday Recap, Episode #112, Part 1:

Sara and Tonio make love! As they lay in bed naked the next morning, they realize that Sara’s sexual healing has worked wonders and Tonio is fever-free. They go for round 2 (or maybe 3, 4, 5) before breakfast. At breakfast, Tonio is freshly showered, shaved, and wearing his usual buttoned down shirt. More schmoopy talk and kisses. They even get some work done, with Sara assisting Tonio with Conatrol business. Tonio wants to pay Sara back for her help, by helping her with the restaurant. He wants to pay for the repairs. Sara refuses. She does not want to confuse and complicate things between them. Sabastian comes over and Tonio professes his love for Sara to his BFF. Sebas has never seen him so happy. Sara leaves to change her clothes.

In F.D., Tonio’s sister Mariana visits her mom and tries to convince her to 1) leave Tonio alone to live his own life and choose the woman he wants to be with (Sara), and 2) quit pressuring her husband financially and learn to live within their means. Emma doesn’t agree to either. Isa’s dad calls her from Brazil and tries to convince her to join him there. She refuses. Instead, she plans her trip to San Gaspar to reclaim Tonio, along with Natalia. Chelo makes one of his impromptu visits to the girls, and makes me and them giggle when he gives them both autographed pictures of himself to cheer them up. Oh, Chelo! You thoughtful charmer. Chelo tries to talk Nat out of going after Sebas, when he has done her wrong and made her suffer. He makes a heartfelt speech about how Sebas doesn’t deserve her love, and how he (Chelo) will be there for her. The next scene we see Sebas watching Chelo’s telenovela, where his character makes the exact same speech to the heroine. LOL! Sebas wonders if any woman would actually fall for such a lame speech in real life.

Titina learns that the contract her brothers had Sebas sign is not legally binding. The bros think the best course of action is to get Sebas over for family dinner ASAP, announce the pregnancy and marriage to their parents, and their dad will make sure Sebas follows through. Marina helps Sebas escape dinner with Titina’s family that night by telling Titina he’s working, out of cell phone range.

Pedro calls Cheo and they agree to meet to talk business.

Part 2:

Simon and Edwina attempt to install the last piece in the rocket, with Edwina squeezing her top half through a little hatch in the upper part of the rocket to do so. Simon stands on a ladder, next to her exposed legs, and gives her instructions for installing the part. Everything is going well, and Simon is definitely enjoying the view of Ed’s delicate feet, shapely calves, and curvaceous hips, when he decides to tickle her feet. Simon, you scamp! It’s all flirty giggles, until Edwina realizes she’s slipped further into the rocket and is stuck! Simon tries to pull her out on his own, and then with Juancho’s help. It’s getting hot in that rocket, so they pump air in for her. Her foot and calf cramp up and Simon helps out by massaging them—just to be helpful, you see. They decide to call emergency services to help, but the fire fighters and EMTs don’t know nothin’ ‘bout freeing people from rockets, and refuse to come. Finally, it gets bumped up to the police and Fidel and his AX rush to get his sister out of the rocket. He’s pissed at Simon for getting his little sis Winny into this mess, and manages to convey to Simon, “I will chop you up with this ax once this is all over, and especially if you keep looking up my sister’s skirt!”, all without saying a word. Simon convinces him that an ax might not be the best tool to use, as it might actually hurt Edwina.

Once alone in his apartment, Tonio does two stupid things. First, he decides to go against Sara’s wishes, and writes her a 200K peso check to help with El Molcajete. He then leaves this check, for the woman he just had sex with, on the coffee table. Let’s just think for a moment how that looks…Next, Tonio remembers Isa breaking up with him at the gallery, and offering to give him back his ring (which he did not take). He decides to call her, and ends up leaving a message (Isabel, we need to talk), just as Sara is walking back into his apartment. She comes and stands directly in front of him with a question in her eyes, and the fear that she’s being ditched for Isa again in her heart.

That was the end, if it wasn't clear. I loved everything about Simon and Edwina this episode. And we mostly just saw Simon interact with Ed's lower half. :)

Thanks, Vivi :-)

Thanks for the great recap. I haven't watched yet, but I can't wait to see the snuggles and oggles (Simón)!

I can do Friday, Dios mediante.

Denise

Excellent! Thanks for taking Friday, Denise.

I think you'll like this episode.

Vivi, thank you for the Wednesday recap! I must echo your words to Simon...Vivi, you scamp!

"Sara’s sexual healing has worked wonders and Tonio is fever-free." And here I was afraid he'd end up with his fever spiking through the roof!

"The next scene we see Sebas watching Chelo’s telenovela, where his character makes the exact same speech to the heroine." It took me way too long to realize that's what I was hearing.

Yes, the entire Simon-Edwina-Rocket scenario was awesome! Best love triangle ever! I admit I was a little appalled that he would tickle her feet when she's installing a delicate piece of equipment. I loved "fire fighters and EMTs don’t know nothin’ ‘bout freeing people from rockets." And I agree, Fidel conveyed soooooo much with just his facial expressions, but that ax was making me nervous!

"She comes and stands directly in front of him with a question in her eyes, and the fear that she’s being ditched for Isa again in her heart." I'm with Sara. What is he doing?! How much more "over" do they need to be?! He's being way too nice about this. I know he's the one in the "wrong" here, at least as far as he knows, but once she said "I never want to see you again," there's no reason for him not to take her at her word UNLESS he didn't want to let go. Which, clearly he does.

I'm bummed we don't get another episode today :(

Oh bless you Vivi for the recap, I always appreciate recaps but I have to admit the appreciation goes up a bit when I miss the epi, like when my VCR gets misprogramed because of holiday related stress :<

Your words are so descriptive, I can practically see what happened though

this - "Her foot and calf cramp up and Simon helps out by massaging them—just to be helpful, you see." -was great. I could just imagine Simon's expression and yay Simon and Edwina get to touch, that always makes me happy

"She comes and stands directly in front of him with a question in her eyes, and the fear that she’s being ditched for Isa again in her heart." - what a place to leave off with a day long break :(

Kat- I love that you describe Simon-Edwina-Rocket as a love triangle. It is! Yay, today we get a new episode!

Sneaky2Shoes- Oh, no! Sorry that your vcr at this episode. I'm glad the recap was helpful.

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

La Vecina, Friday, 11/27 Part 1 (Some scenes combined)

Sara opens Anto’s door just in time to hear him leave a message for Isabel.
We see Isa receive the message and think to herself that her one desire is to “desaparecer a La Vecina.”
Anto hangs up and explains to Sara that he just wants to make a clean break with Isabel, and that there is no room in his heart for anyone but her, Sara.
Snuggies.
Sara supports Anto as he makes his first foray out of the condo building. Don Carmelo’s sicario is waiting outside the gate. He’s looking for a clean shot, but is thwarted when Quintín drives up. Quintín tells the couple (recapper smiles) that “efectivamente” (in fact) the stove was definitely tampered with. An intruder filed down a piece in the ignition system so that it would fail on the first attempt to light the stove. Sara is shocked to think that someone would want her dead. (If she only knew that people are apparently lining up to take a crack at her.) Quintín ask if she has any idea who might want to do her harm. She ponders for a moment and then suggests that Cheo is the only person who she knows is really mad at her. Later she questions whether she should have mentioned his name. Anto assures her that she did the right thing, and that she should never forget that he is there for her come what may.

Edwina’s fanny is still sticking out of the cohete. Fidel is beside himself b/c he cannot figure out how to unstick her. After a couple of attempts to pull her out, Simón gets an idea. He passes her a large screwdriver, I think, and tells her to break the green circuit board, but to be careful and close her eyes, so she doesn’t get hurt. The plan works, and Fidel and Simón successfully pull Edwina out, as Fidel fusses at Simón to stop touching Edwina!
Simón is to never see or speak to Edwina again! dictates Fidel. He puts Edwina over his shoulder and carries her off. Ed gives Simón a cute smile and a wave as her brother absconds with her.

Don Carmelo is pithed. The sicario assures him that he will off Anto even if he has to go into Anto’s apartment to do it.

Nati and Isa are at Hotel San Gasp, and Nati is feeling very sick to her stomach. She calls the reception desk to ask if there is medical service at the hotel. There is. Isa says she will go pick up some bug spray meanwhile. But she goes by Sara’s mom’s house and swears that Sara is going to suffer from we’re not sure what.

Titi is on the phone talking to Sebas. He is begging off dinner because he has suddenly been called into work (NOT!). Yes, of course she understands. His job must come first. After all, that will be the basis of support for their wee one, right?
Whoa, thought bubbles Sebas, who knew Titi could be so reasonable?
When she hangs up, Titi does her Tarzan yell for her brothers. She tells them to stake out the hotel and see if Sebas is telling the truth. (Ha ha. This girl needs to be hired by the CIA.)

Rafa has invited Quique over. Rafa says that he is going to explain one more time the rules of the game, and if Quique cannot effect a change of behavior, This will be the last time they speak. (Go Rafa!)

The doctor has attended to Nati and takes his leave. Nati is in the hallway seeing him off when she sees Titi’s three brothers enter the hallway.

Sara has prepared dinner for Anto. Anto says she is some cook. “Gajes de oficio,” (It’s my job, Silly”) she says. He laughs. Doorbell rings. She’ll get it.
It’s ISA! “What the hell are you doing here?” she demands to know.
“I’d like to know the same of you,” answers Sara. Sniper fire comments ensue.
Anto defends Sara.(Finally!) He says Sara will stay for the conversation, but Sara says no, she trusts Antonio, and she leaves.
Isa demands to know why Anto “humiliated” her like that.
He says that he at no time humiliated her and that they need to make an end to their relationship.

Simón is recounting to Bruno the events with Edwina, the cohete and Ed’s brother. Sara comes in the door and shares her anxiety with her two roomies.

La Vecina, Friday Part 2

[Theme song – Doo doo dee doo]

The three hulking hermanos have Sebas tied and gagged in the hotel room. Plan is to take him home to din din. He’s making so much noise as he resists that Nati can hear them all from her room across the hall. She knocks on the door to ask them what’s up with all the noise. “It’s the t.v.. We turned it up real loud.”
“Okay, well please keep it down. You’re not the only ones here, you know.”

Isa is begging Antonio now. “How can you take up with that slut?!” she demands to know.
“She’s not a ‘cualquiera’, she’s the one person who makes me happy” is the reply.

Nati calls Isa’s phone, but Isa rejects the call. Nati decides that Isa must have gone to look for Antonio, so Nati decides that she will go see if she can locate Sebastian. As Nati leaves, she sees the Three Amigos dragging someone away to their car. Nati tries to alert the woman at the reception desk that somethin’ ain’t right here, but the young woman says that that was el Inge. Segura, and he must have tied one on by the look of things. Nati says to self, “Huh, ‘Segura? Now there’s a coincidence.”

Sara is expressing her anxiety to Simón and Bruno. “It’s been an awfully long time in there.” Bruno opines, ”Hey, you can’t just shut down a relationship of that many years that fast.” “No me ayudes”(with friends like you, who needs enemies? – loose Denise translation)” Sara responds.

Isa continues begging. “You’re going way down in class. Can’t you see that, Antonio? What do you think your life will be like with someone like her? What do you think your parents are going to say, huh?”
“Don’t care. I’ve never been this happy before” is the reply.
Phone rings. It’s the sicario. He says he’s from the comandancia, that a body has been found out in the boonies near a “brecha” (break in the line). The dead person is Rafael Padilla.” Antonio is thunderstruck. He must get to him. (Oh no, oh no, oh no! Pleeeease don’t go, Antonio!)
Isa says “Whadda you care. Someone else can go!”
Anto says “Hazte a un lado!” (Get out of my way!)

On the way to the boonies, Anto calls Sebas who is just arriving at Titina’s house with the brothers. Sebas is of course shocked to hear the news of Rafa’s death.
At first the brothers don’t believe Sebas is telling them the truth (Who would at this point?), and Andrés even allows Sebas to borrow his car to go find Antonio.
(Come on, Sebas. We’re counting on you!)

Sara is still anxious, thinking that Anto and Isa might possibly be making up.
Isa is fuming. “Anything and anybody is more important than me,” she mutters. Then she catches sight of the check for $200,000 pesos that Anto has left on the side table. “Es el colmo,” she hisses. She begins to rip up the check, but the doorbell stops her. It’s Nati. “Me cambió por ella, por esa estúpida,”(He traded me for her, for that stupid girl,” she tells Nati.

Anto and Sebas are talking on the phone as they both desperately drive towards the ciénaga. Anto’s phone rings again and he pulls out his earpiece and throws the phone down on the seat. (Bad feeling here.)

La Vecina, Friday Part 3

Nati to Isa: “Do you think they’re living together?”
Isa: “There’s their dinner right there! And check this out”(she shows Nati the check.) Isa tells Nati that Anto left for a work related incident AGAIN. Some guy from work died.”I hope Anto dies too,” she says. “I hope they all die!”

Rafa and Quique are still talking about Quique’s insecurities. (Hah! We knew he wasn’t gone!) Quique promises to behave more maturely. He picks up his phone and dials Sebas’ number. “What are you doing?” Rafa demands to know.
“Calling to apologize,” says the impulsive one. Rafa grabs the phone out of his hand, but too late (or just in time), Sebas answers. “Sorry, Inge., I dialed a wrong number.”
“Rafa?!!!”

Antonio is in the drizzly, dark side of nowhere, looking for Rafa and/or the police, we assume. He sees a body lying face down in front of him. He jumps out of the car. “Rafa?!” he calls. But it’s not Rafa, of course. It’s the sicario. He stands up and points the gun at Anto’s head. He shoots.

Sebas still on the phone with Rafa. He tells Rafa about the phone call about Rafa’s supposed death. “They’ve set a trap for him!” says Rafa.”They’re going to kill him! You’ve got to stop him!”

We see the sicario escaping on his motorcycle. Sebas and Rafa rapidly make plans to call the police etc.., but Sebas no longer has a signal.

Nati can’t believe that Isa would desire Anto’s death. Isa is outta there. Nati also exits the depa.

Sara knows nothing of Antonio’s attack. She excuses herself to wait in her room to hear how the supposed conversation btw Anto and Isa turns out. Simón muses to Bruno that he hopes this turns out well for Sara, but he doesn’t like that it’s taking so long. Bruno says that he’s just feeling that because of the way he’s goo goo over Edwina. “Ya think?” asks Simón.

Edwina at her house is remembering when she was stuck in the cohete that Simón aaaalmost told her he loved her. Doorbell rings. It’s Fidel. He’s gonna put Edwina straight regarding the “cohetero ése.” She tells him to shove it. And furthermore, she believes she and the cohetero may have something going on.
“Like what?!” he wants to know.
“Just as you were arriving, he was telling me something important. But then you had to walk in with your yelling!”
“What was he telling you that was so important?”
“He was saying that he “something” me.”
“He ‘what’ you?”
“That’s as far as he got. ‘El me ...’ – because you barged in and interrupted him!”
“Ah sí? Pues si él te _______, yo le voy a _______?” (Okay, this was so funny in Spanish, and I’m just not getting it done in English.)

Rafa interrupts this conversation with a call to Fidel. “They set a trap for el Ingeniero Andrade! I’m sure they’re going to kill him!”

Simón confesses to Bruno that he’s not scared to approach Edwina – he’s terrified. Bruno says ya gotta go for it, man. Simón is worried that if he doesn’t fulfill Ed’s expectativas, then he will be at risk of losing her friendship too.
Bruno says that ain’t gonna happen. Don’t you see how her eyes sparkle when she looks at you?
Simón:“You think?”
Bruno:“What, are you blind?”

Sebas discovers Antonio lying face down in the dirt. He runs to him and holds him. “Antonio, wake up! Don’t do this! You can’t be dead...” ( I have to wipe away these tears.)

Cue the music.

Denise, thank you for recapping this episode! I'm in total shock. I thought last week's cliffhanger was bad.

"He just wants to make a clean break with Isabel...." I was so frustrated with this. If he's waiting for her to say "OK, I accept that it's over," before he moves on, it's NEVER going to happen!

"Edwina’s fanny is still sticking out of the cohete." Omigosh...I have to give that actress mad props, because that really did look uncomfortable! And obviously, there was no room for being self-conscious about her butt...or the skirt! "Ed gives Simón a cute smile and a wave as her brother absconds with her." Wasn't it, though?! Loved that!

I like your "loose Denise translatin" of "no me ayudes." Bruno has a bad habit of going back and forth between being super-supportive and saying the wrong thing.

"Anto and Sebas are talking on the phone as they both desperately drive towards the ciénaga." And they were both so upset! It warmed my heart to see that, in between being completely terrified of what was going to happen! Isa, on the other hand--jerk!

"I have to wipe away these tears." This. Show.

I mean, they wouldn't kill off Antonio, would they? But that guy was only a couple of feet away from him and had a clear shot, so how could he miss?

Denise- What a cliff hanger! Awesome recap!

Loved your retelling of the Ed-Simon-Fidel scenes and conversations. These two are inching slowly towards romance.

Kat- Let's hope the bullet just grazed Tonio's head. My heart was in my throat during that whole thing. And I agree that it was really touching to see how upset Tonio and Sebas got thinking Rafa had been hurt. They've really come to care for him.

Isa is a major jerk. Can't believe Natalia can't see what a callous hypocrite her friend is.

A whole weekend not knowing what happens to Tonio. Ugh!

Thanks for your comments, Diva and Vivi :-)
This novela has wormed its way deep into my heart. I Love all of the characters - even Slick Ric, Titina and Quique.

I loved seeing Simón so sweet and vulnerable last night.

And our galán, Antonio - he's so different from most. He's not buffed or imposing, but he is noble and good. The bad guys took advantage of this quality to do him in :'(

Denise

Vivi, maybe he flinched at just the right moment? And is only knocked out because he's still weak from the Dengue?

Denise, "The bad guys took advantage of this quality to do him in." You know, I hadn't considered what an intelligent move that was on the part of the would-be assasin. The creep! Not all bad guys are that astute.

Many thanks, Vivi, Kat and Denise. Thanks to you all I was able to keep up with the action. I was only able to watch Friday's episode, but boy was it good.... and stressful.

Yay! You're back! They sure did up the ante on us. I'm hoping for a graze.

Welcome back, Sara!

Thanks Denise! Your recap perfectly captured all the nail bitting action.

"Quintin tells the couple (recapper smiles)..." yes! Finally a couple!

Also loved the conversation between Edwina and Fidel, hahahaha very funny

And the whole shooting scene, just the assassin and Antonio with the car headlights in the background throwing everything in shadow.....ayyyyyyyy Monday can't come soon enough. I really want to see what the writers are going to pull out for us, the shooter was right there!!

I do wonder what kind of end Isabel will have, she's just a horrible horrible person....no doubt we've not seen how low she can go.

jlk

Hi jlk :-)

"And the whole shooting scene, just the assassin and Antonio with the car headlights in the background throwing everything in shadow." You're right. That was so artistic.
